- 0:00Speaker 1: Real quick before we get into entertainment news and the VMAs. Alex,
- 0:02Speaker 1: what's up? You're on the air.
- 0:04Speaker 2: Hey, good morning. I was actually just on the phone
- 0:09Speaker 2: with you guys talking about this stupid question.
- 0:12Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 0:14Speaker 2: And I just wanted to call and say that recently
- 0:18Speaker 2: I had ran into Peyton at the Hilary Duff concert
- 0:22Speaker 2: and I told her this story in person but I
- 0:25Speaker 2: actually called last year and And I won tickets to
- 0:29Speaker 2: the Party in the Parks concert with Pitbull.
- 0:34Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 0:35Speaker 2: However, I was not able to attend that concert because
- 0:39Speaker 2: I did find out that I ended up getting pregnant
- 0:43Speaker 2: with my ex. So I ended up giving the tickets
- 0:47Speaker 2: to my sister. And it was like this huge thing.
- 0:50Speaker 2: And I just definitely aired a bunch of dirty laundry
- 0:52Speaker 2: on the radio. So if anyone's listening, we'll see. But
- 0:59Speaker 2: I ran in Spain. We took a picture with her.
- 1:01Speaker 2: My sister was there. And I just thought it was
- 1:05Speaker 2: funny because I've been trying to win something on the
- 1:06Speaker 2: radio ever since. But I never got to go to
- 1:09Speaker 2: that concert.
- 1:09Speaker 1: It was a great concert. That was a lot of fun. Yeah,
- 1:12Speaker 1: Pitbull's awesome.
- 1:13Speaker 5: I heard.
- 1:14Speaker 1: Well, thank you for calling in, Alex. Thanks for listening.
- 1:17Speaker 1: What do you guys got? How was the VMAs last night?
- 1:18Speaker 1: What are we missing?
- 1:19Speaker 6: Snoop Dogg hosted, and he's like the most amazing host ever.
- 1:24Speaker 3: Now, when they first asked me to host this awards show,
- 1:27Speaker 3: I said, is it going to be in L.A.? No.
- 1:30Speaker 1: Well, I'm busy. Then they called me back and said,
- 1:33Speaker 1: hold on, Mr.
- 1:34Speaker 4: Dog.
- 1:34Speaker 7: It's in L.A.
- 1:35Speaker 1: Now.
- 1:35Speaker 6: That's the power of Snoop Dogg right there. I especially
- 1:40Speaker 6: loved his last line of the night. He was like,
- 1:43Speaker 6: all right. You know that famous quote, you don't have
- 1:46Speaker 6: to go home, but you can't stay here?
- 1:47Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:48Speaker 6: He goes, you don't have to go home.
- 1:49Speaker 3: Yeah, you do.
- 1:50Speaker 1: And then that was it.
- 1:53Speaker 6: I'll say Madonna pretty much ruled the night. She won
- 1:55Speaker 6: seven awards. She picked up Artist of the Year, Best
- 1:57Speaker 6: Dance for Confessions 2, and Best Collaboration with Sabrina Carpenter.
- 2:01Speaker 6: When they went up to accept that award, she called
- 2:04Speaker 6: out Sabrina's people.
- 2:05Speaker 5: Everybody who knows me knows how impatient I am. And when...
- 2:11Speaker 5: Five days passed and I still didn't get connected with
- 2:14Speaker 5: Sabrina and didn't.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Hear back from her about whether she wanted to do
- 2:17Speaker 1: a song with me.
- 2:19Speaker 5: Five days, I DM'd her. She answered me back. And
- 2:26Speaker 5: I don't know, within weeks, we were in the studio together.
- 2:28Speaker 5: It was fabulous.
- 2:28Speaker 6: She starts talking about how great it's been to work
- 2:30Speaker 6: with Sabrina. And then at the very end, you can
- 2:32Speaker 6: tell that that caught Sabrina off guard.
- 2:34Speaker 3: For sure.
- 2:35Speaker 6: And Sabrina's like, I just want to let everybody know
- 2:37Speaker 6: that my people do reach back to you. I guess
- 2:39Speaker 6: I just respond faster.
- 2:42Speaker 8: That seems very real.
- 2:43Speaker 1: That seemed like a very real moment. Because Majani even said,
- 2:46Speaker 1: she's like, I didn't prepare a speech or anything like that.
- 2:48Speaker 6: She also said she didn't know that she was getting
- 2:50Speaker 6: that award, which I'm sure she did.
- 2:51Speaker 5: She did.
- 2:52Speaker 1: She totally did.
- 2:52Speaker 6: She did open the show with her first live VMA
- 2:54Speaker 6: performance in 23 years. Plus, Lisa performed, Ray performed, Shabuzy,
- 2:59Speaker 6: a bunch of big tribute moments throughout the night. Sienna
- 3:01Speaker 6: Spiro scored Best New Artist. And I just thought, she
- 3:04Speaker 6: is so lovable. I didn't think this would happen.
- 3:07Speaker 7: So I just have to say thank you so much.
- 3:09Speaker 7: Thank you to the fans and the people that voted
- 3:11Speaker 7: for me.
- 3:12Speaker 5: I love you.
- 3:12Speaker 1: I can't believe this. So cute. Jump back to Madonna's
- 3:17Speaker 1: opening performance, by the way. I got to kick out
- 3:19Speaker 1: all the cameos that popped up. And one of them
- 3:21Speaker 1: that got me going was Julia Garner, who's in Ozark
- 3:24Speaker 1: because she's playing Madonna in the movie. There was Charlie
- 3:28Speaker 1: XCX came out. Seth Rogen came out.
- 3:29Speaker 5: I didn't put that two together.
- 3:30Speaker 1: Debbie Mazur. But when I saw her, I was like,
- 3:32Speaker 1: oh my God, that must mean it's officially happening. Julia
- 3:35Speaker 1: Garner is going to play. And she had her hair like-
- 3:37Speaker 1: She looked just like her. She had her hair like, God,
- 3:39Speaker 1: what movie was that? Desperately Secret Susan, I think. No,
- 3:42Speaker 1: the one after that where she was a champagne. Anyway,
- 3:44Speaker 1: so if you get a chance to watch that, if
- 3:46Speaker 1: we repost it, it was cool to know there's going
- 3:48Speaker 1: to be a Madonna movie.
- 3:50Speaker 6: Sienna Spiro, she was awesome. Spiro, she was pretty awesome.
- 3:53Speaker 6: And then something happened last night at the VMAs that
- 3:56Speaker 6: has never happened before. Lisa won Best Pop for Dream,
- 4:00Speaker 6: and that was record-breaking because she literally became the first
- 4:02Speaker 6: Asian solo artist ever to win that award.
- 4:04Speaker 5: At the VMAs. Well, good for her.
- 4:06Speaker 1: Her song's damn good. That's a good song. Ray's performance
- 4:09Speaker 1: is great, too. She's awesome. She's so charismatic. That album
- 4:12Speaker 1: is fantastic.
- 4:13Speaker 6: I thought all of the performances, the live performances, were
- 4:16Speaker 6: really impressive. I thought they were all really great, but
- 4:18Speaker 6: I felt the same way that I think I feel
- 4:20Speaker 6: at pretty much almost all awards shows. Like, give me
- 4:22Speaker 6: the short version.
- 4:23Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:23Speaker 6: Because I want to get to all of them quicker.
- 4:25Speaker 5: Yeah. You know?
- 4:26Speaker 6: And I think that's just being spoiled that you have
- 4:29Speaker 6: so many great artists in the room at the same time.
- 4:32Speaker 6: Of course, the moment I think most people who were
- 4:34Speaker 6: watching were waiting for was Taylor Swift. She, of course,
- 4:39Speaker 6: added more wins to her VMA, I guess, room of trophies.
- 4:43Speaker 6: She did win that brand new award for best direction
- 4:48Speaker 6: for Opalite. And while she was accepting it, she, of course,
- 4:52Speaker 6: introed her new music video for Patient Zero.
- 4:56Speaker 7: I got to tell you, though, the main reason why
- 4:58Speaker 7: I love writing and directing music videos.
- 5:00Speaker 4: So much is because you, the fans, make.
- 5:02Speaker 7: It so much fun.
- 5:04Speaker 4: You make it so rewarding because you actually care about
- 5:08Speaker 4: what we're making. So I think rather than keep talking,
- 5:11Speaker 4: I would love to, if it's okay with you, show
- 5:13Speaker 4: you my latest music video starring my friend Dakota Johnson
- 5:18Speaker 4: and Colin Farrell. This is the world premiere of the
- 5:21Speaker 4: Patient Zero music video.
- 5:23Speaker 1: It's a really good video, too. It was really well done.
- 5:25Speaker 5: It was.
- 5:26Speaker 6: It actually, like, gave me chills at the very end.
- 5:29Speaker 6: It's almost like I don't want to give you a
- 5:30Speaker 6: spoiler alert if.
- 5:31Speaker 3: You haven't seen it.
- 5:32Speaker 1: It's a mini movie.
- 5:33Speaker 6: But, you know, we talked on Friday about all the
- 5:35Speaker 6: Easter eggs in the 13-second preview that she gave us,
- 5:39Speaker 6: and a lot of those were correct. But the twist
- 5:43Speaker 6: at the end, nobody saw that twist coming. Do I
- 5:46Speaker 6: say it or do I, like, it's like a total
- 5:48Speaker 6: spoiler alert.
- 5:48Speaker 5: I don't feel like people want me.
- 5:50Speaker 1: Well, it's funny because I haven't finished the whole video.
- 5:52Speaker 1: So I'm wondering what the spoiler is. Don't spoil it.
- 5:55Speaker 1: I don't want to spoil it.
- 5:57Speaker 6: There's a twist at the ending of the music video,
- 5:59Speaker 6: which makes it so cinematic. And so like it literally
- 6:02Speaker 6: gave me chills.
- 6:03Speaker 1: Well, as a viewer for me watching it, I was like,
- 6:06Speaker 1: she is a great, that's a really well directed film.
- 6:10Speaker 1: And if she goes on to do features, that would
- 6:11Speaker 1: be insane. Well, the performances of Colin Farrell and Dakota
- 6:14Speaker 1: were really.
- 6:15Speaker 6: Good, too.
- 6:15Speaker 5: You could see that happening.
- 6:16Speaker 6: Yeah, she closed out the show accepting the biggest award
- 6:20Speaker 6: of the night, Video of the Year for The Fate
- 6:22Speaker 6: of Ophelia, and said in her speech that this really
- 6:25Speaker 6: wouldn't be happening without one person.
- 6:27Speaker 4: I want to thank and dedicate.
- 6:28Speaker 7: This award to the ultimate showgirl, Dolly Parton. Her storytelling
- 6:33Speaker 7: was so vivid and so rich. And she, man, she
- 6:36Speaker 7: handled this thing with such grace and joy and love
- 6:40Speaker 7: and gratitude for the fact that she got to do this.
- 6:42Speaker 7: Everything that happened in her life or her career, she
- 6:45Speaker 7: channeled back into love and gratitude and appreciation for her fans.
- 6:49Speaker 7: I am lucky I got to be one of them
- 6:50Speaker 7: and I will always be one of them.
- 6:53Speaker 1: You know, I had one tiny thing, and I'm saying
- 6:56Speaker 1: this without knowing everything about the award show last night.
- 7:00Speaker 1: But I can't remember the category. There's a category Madonna won.
- 7:02Speaker 1: Madonna won like 11 awards.
- 7:04Speaker 5: No.
- 7:04Speaker 6: Best cinematography, best choreography, best long-form video, best album.
- 7:09Speaker 5: Best album.
- 7:09Speaker 1: Keep going.
- 7:11Speaker 6: Oh, my gosh. Best collaboration with Sabrina Carpenter. Best dance.
- 7:15Speaker 5: No.
- 7:15Speaker 6: For Confessions 2.
- 7:17Speaker 1: Artist of the Year. I think that was it. Artist
- 7:19Speaker 1: of the Year. Artist of the Year. I got to
- 7:21Speaker 1: say this just because this, who had a bigger year
- 7:24Speaker 1: than Ella Langley? And Ella Langley doesn't get artist of
- 7:27Speaker 1: the year. Like to me, I was kind of like, oh,
- 7:29Speaker 1: that's right. But it's MTV and they obviously got to
- 7:30Speaker 1: give her Madonna.
- 7:31Speaker 5: Right. They got to pay.
- 7:33Speaker 1: She opened the award show in 1981. I know she's
- 7:37Speaker 1: an icon, but I think Ella Langley had a bigger
- 7:39Speaker 1: year than Madonna.
- 7:39Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 7:41Speaker 6: So did Taylor Swift. I mean, you could probably argue
- 7:44Speaker 6: both of those, but yeah. I mean, Ella Langley just
- 7:47Speaker 6: broke Mariah Carey's record of number one song for the
- 7:50Speaker 6: longest running. She beat All I Want for Christmas.
- 7:52Speaker 1: How do you beat All I Want for Christmas? How
- 7:53Speaker 1: do you not give her an award?
- 7:54Speaker 6: That's crazy. In any case, moving on, Jennifer Lopez, she
- 7:58Speaker 6: actually opened up about her twins are leaving for college.
- 8:00Speaker 6: And so now she's like experiencing life as an empty nester.
- 8:03Speaker 6: And she's got her beauty care brand. So I'm sure
- 8:05Speaker 6: this was definitely to promote that. But she was talking
- 8:08Speaker 6: about how How like things have shifted in her life.
- 8:11Speaker 6: The things that she was normally doing with her kids
- 8:14Speaker 6: are now gone. And so she's filling the void.
- 8:17Speaker 3: But those routines really keep you going. And I think
- 8:20Speaker 3: when they go away and I'm sitting here. Being an
- 8:23Speaker 3: empty nester and crying and thinking about them and looking
- 8:26Speaker 3: at baby pictures of them and all that stuff. These
- 8:29Speaker 3: routines are the things that are going to keep me
- 8:31Speaker 3: kind of sane, you know, working out, doing my skincare routine,
- 8:35Speaker 3: caring for myself with the newfound kind of space.
- 8:39Speaker 1: That's in your life.
- 8:40Speaker 6: Think that's so cute it's like very vulnerable um Chris
- 8:43Speaker 6: Hansen I think is doing the best promotion for the
- 8:45Speaker 6: movie he doesn't want to actually promote it's called primetime
- 8:48Speaker 6: it stars Robert Pattinson who plays Chris Hansen and like
- 8:52Speaker 6: Chris Hansen is very upset he does not like the
- 8:55Speaker 6: movie he said 98% of what's in the movie is
- 8:58Speaker 6: actually completely false and never happened in fact he even
- 9:02Speaker 6: gave Robert Pattinson a pretty bad grade for how he
- 9:05Speaker 6: portrays him in the movie.
- 9:06Speaker 8: In a way, it's a hit piece on me and
- 9:08Speaker 8: the series, which is weird because all we do is
- 9:11Speaker 8: expose bad human beings who try to hurt children. So
- 9:14Speaker 8: in that respect, it's sort of an insult to the
- 9:16Speaker 8: thousands of men and women who lot every day to
- 9:18Speaker 8: do the same thing that I try to do. This
- 9:20Speaker 8: version of Chris Hansen, played by Robert Pattinson, was so detached,
- 9:23Speaker 8: so unhinged, so dark, so unlikable. I mean, it's upset
- 9:28Speaker 8: my colleagues, present and former. Grade Pattinson, A.
- 9:32Speaker 1: B, C, D, or F? D. It's weird because he
- 9:37Speaker 1: sounds just like Chris Hansen.
- 9:38Speaker 5: Because he is.
- 9:39Speaker 6: And he said, listen, I know that talking about this
- 9:42Speaker 6: is bringing attention to the movie and I didn't really
- 9:44Speaker 6: want to do that, but it also gives me an
- 9:45Speaker 6: opportunity to tell you that I'm focused on my own
- 9:47Speaker 6: documentary called I Am Chris Hansen. So use it to
- 9:50Speaker 6: promote something for himself as well. He was at one
- 9:54Speaker 6: time one of the biggest actors, I think of all time,
- 9:57Speaker 6: Sylvester Stallone. One of his biggest movies, Rocky, is just,
- 10:00Speaker 6: it's a classic. He actually opened up and shared the
- 10:03Speaker 6: extreme measures that he took to get in shape for
- 10:06Speaker 6: some of his iconic roles.
- 10:08Speaker 5: Really bad. It became to the point where I became bulimic.
- 10:13Speaker 5: You didn't know that at all. I became so obsessed
- 10:16Speaker 5: at staying at that point of fitness that And then finally,
- 10:19Speaker 5: you know, I just broke the cycle, but literally an
- 10:23Speaker 5: obsessive body worship kind of a thing. Nobody does it
- 10:27Speaker 5: without additives and drugs, period. I don't care who they say.
- 10:30Speaker 5: So you're taking steroids, you're saying? Oh my God, you
- 10:32Speaker 5: have to. But that also took a terrible toll.
- 10:35Speaker 6: He did say though, at one point he reached 2.6%
- 10:39Speaker 6: body fat.
- 10:40Speaker 1: I watched this interview and I made comments on it.
- 10:42Speaker 1: I've never really done that in a long time. Oh,
- 10:43Speaker 1: that's your guy. Yeah. I was like, dude, I'm such
- 10:46Speaker 1: a huge fan. This is so great. How come you
- 10:48Speaker 1: never talk about the movie victory? You were so great
- 10:51Speaker 1: in victory. He got way, he lost a lot. He
- 10:53Speaker 1: got done like 150 pounds in that movie.
