- 0:04Speaker 1: Monday of everyone had a wonderful weekend. That was Arizona.
- 0:08Speaker 2: It was good, the game was The game was not
- 0:14Speaker 2: very I mean it was a good game. Two to close. Yeah,
- 0:17Speaker 2: it was close. Not a lot happened other than Paroldo
- 0:21Speaker 2: Perdomo out there telling what's coming from Clay Holmes. I mean,
- 0:26Speaker 2: with bright green stuff on his hand.
- 0:29Speaker 1: Nobody cares anymore, right is that?
- 0:30Speaker 2: I mean I called it out on the air.
- 0:32Speaker 3: Yeah, And that was the hit.
- 0:33Speaker 2: Then he gave up the hit to Vargas. That was
- 0:35Speaker 2: the two runs that Diamondbacks score.
- 0:37Speaker 1: Do you feel like he was the only one.
- 0:38Speaker 2: That did it because then the next guy got him
- 0:40Speaker 2: second and didn't do it. It was only Perdoma.
- 0:42Speaker 3: Why, I don't know.
- 0:45Speaker 1: Doesn't the team talk and say hey listen.
- 0:47Speaker 2: As soon as he went to he went like this
- 0:48Speaker 2: on second base. I was like, you know, you hit
- 0:50Speaker 2: the talk back and I was like, uh, Pardoma's about
- 0:53Speaker 2: to be given all them signs. We need to get
- 0:56Speaker 2: a shot of him. And then after one pitch he
- 0:57Speaker 2: was out there going I mean like not even hiding it.
- 1:02Speaker 1: I don't understand how one guy does it and then
- 1:04Speaker 1: the next guy gets then.
- 1:05Speaker 2: Whoever was on whoever was on first got the second
- 1:09Speaker 2: on the single, didn't even look, didn't even try, and
- 1:13Speaker 2: I think Arnatto was up. So maybe Arnautter didn't want
- 1:15Speaker 2: the signal the signs.
- 1:16Speaker 1: That could be right, one player doesn't want.
- 1:18Speaker 2: It, yeah, I guess, but I mean apparently Oldmorrow Vargas
- 1:21Speaker 2: won it and he got a two RBI single. That
- 1:23Speaker 2: was a difference in the game.
- 1:26Speaker 1: Gar Vargas is getting it all this year.
- 1:27Speaker 2: But the Mets offense was not good man.
- 1:32Speaker 1: Crats. They made Arizona's starters looked like absolute studs like Merril,
- 1:38Speaker 1: Kelly has struggled, Nelson has struggled. Water was ridiculous.
- 1:42Speaker 3: He's done.
- 1:43Speaker 1: I mean these guys were dealing. Yeah, no, I know
- 1:45Speaker 1: he's done good, but like he's not doing eight and
- 1:47Speaker 1: whatever good. I mean they went back and all their
- 1:51Speaker 1: guys looked like studs.
- 1:53Speaker 3: He went out for the ninth. There was the first
- 1:54Speaker 3: time since like twenty twenty three that he made it
- 1:57Speaker 3: out over or he came back out for the night
- 2:01Speaker 3: like talking three years. Unfortunately for Mets fans, it was
- 2:05Speaker 3: against the Mets, but this team cannot hit, pressing or
- 2:10Speaker 3: not pressing.
- 2:11Speaker 2: They could not hit, and so so great here's the thing. Yeah,
- 2:17Speaker 2: one hit. I think he hit lead off right. There
- 2:22Speaker 2: came up a situation where there was a run around second.
- 2:24Speaker 2: I'm like, just walk them. I mean, listen, no offense,
- 2:26Speaker 2: Bobushet's been really good this year, he's not been really good.
- 2:29Speaker 3: Walk him.
- 2:29Speaker 2: Every time. There was people I talked to that were
- 2:30Speaker 2: there that were like, I don't know whyan Soto ever
- 2:32Speaker 2: gets a pitch to hit because nobody behind him is
- 2:35Speaker 2: hitting work at all. So just walk him every time.
- 2:38Speaker 2: Anytime there's a situation and he knows that. The thing
- 2:41Speaker 2: for me is like, and Soto's obviously really good, but
- 2:46Speaker 2: like there was an opportunity. I think they were down
- 2:47Speaker 2: two to one, he gets a two zero heater, like
- 2:49Speaker 2: I mean, center cut. He just is like and you're like,
- 2:54Speaker 2: that's the one.
- 2:55Speaker 1: But that's not his game, I know, but that's the one.
- 2:57Speaker 2: I know. You got to try to tie this game
- 2:59Speaker 2: up there. I know it's two oh center cut. Maybe
- 3:02Speaker 2: actually a little bit down and in.
- 3:05Speaker 1: Him and Vodo in my generation just won't do it.
- 3:11Speaker 2: But that's needed. That's when you need the homer.
- 3:15Speaker 3: I think Vos on the I think Soto's on a
- 3:17Speaker 3: different level level than vodo, not that we're gonna not
- 3:19Speaker 3: that we're gonna get into it. They're both doing the
- 3:20Speaker 3: same thing. But one Soto's one Soto does what Wan
- 3:26Speaker 3: Soto wants to do. I think at the plate, I'll
- 3:28Speaker 3: be honest, there's very few guys in the game that
- 3:32Speaker 3: I'm not saying he didn't want to hit a two
- 3:33Speaker 3: run homer.
- 3:33Speaker 1: But I thought they were the same. I mean, yeah,
- 3:38Speaker 1: you can vary a level of Okay, maybe he wouldn't
- 3:41Speaker 1: take that particular pitch, but pretty much the same profile
- 3:44Speaker 1: in terms of by far best hitter. They're mostly going
- 3:48Speaker 1: to pitch around you. They're going to walk you so
- 3:50Speaker 1: often that you're used to taking pitches and that two oh,
- 3:54Speaker 1: heater goes down the middle and there's two more balls
- 3:56Speaker 1: and you get your base and you just move on.
- 3:58Speaker 2: Well no, then he popped up. Then he goes then
- 4:00Speaker 2: just started throwing them wrinkles and changing. Meryl Kelly had
- 4:03Speaker 2: a nine to ninety arra going in this game. He
- 4:04Speaker 2: went seven innings and shot and there was they scored
- 4:08Speaker 2: one run and it was I mean it was Sharley's.
- 4:12Speaker 1: That whole series was crazy.
- 4:14Speaker 2: End you know what this is, this is the thing
- 4:16Speaker 2: and we all know how we feel about Mendy. I know,
- 4:18Speaker 2: at least I know how I feel. I love Carlos Mendoza.
- 4:22Speaker 2: He's gonna get blamed. It's not his fault. It's not
- 4:25Speaker 2: his fault. There's what could he do? At one point,
- 4:28Speaker 2: Adam Iman was sitting next to me and we get
- 4:29Speaker 2: to about the eighth inning, and you know, it's between innings.
- 4:32Speaker 2: You're just kind of talking amongst ourselves, and I'm like,
- 4:36Speaker 2: what can Mandy do? What can Mandy do different? It's
- 4:38Speaker 2: two to one right now, what could he two runs?
- 4:42Speaker 2: Clay Homes pitch well, the bullpen came in and did
- 4:43Speaker 2: their job. They scored one run. What could he do different?
- 4:47Speaker 2: There's nobody on the bench he could have brought in.
- 4:50Speaker 1: He can say, hey, David Stearns, did you see what
- 4:53Speaker 1: the Giants did. Let's start doing that. Let's do trades
- 4:56Speaker 1: right now, because this is.
- 4:58Speaker 2: Just not who could they trade?
- 5:00Speaker 1: I'm just messing around. It's so early too. I mean,
- 5:03Speaker 1: they can trade people, but they can trade people that
- 5:05Speaker 1: would lead them to giving up on the season, which
- 5:08Speaker 1: will have later in spreading rumors. I mean, they have
- 5:10Speaker 1: guys that are going to be free agents, but boosting
- 5:13Speaker 1: their team for all to Clay Holme is going to
- 5:14Speaker 1: be free agent. He'll opped out, so we're going to
- 5:16Speaker 1: get to all of that. One more thing in this series, Homes,
- 5:19Speaker 1: he's going to cash out.
- 5:20Speaker 2: He's nasty. He throws that sinker nobody can get in
- 5:22Speaker 2: the air.
- 5:23Speaker 1: He's got it figured out. One more thing from that series.
- 5:25Speaker 1: You got to see Ryan Walschmidt and.
- 5:28Speaker 2: His punch out three games the game I.
- 5:30Speaker 1: Was, but the game before that, the pa.
- 5:33Speaker 2: Before he got a pinch it.
- 5:34Speaker 3: I met his dad.
- 5:34Speaker 2: His dad said he watches every day. So hello, mister Walsh.
- 5:37Speaker 1: Hello Sunday too. He had a great day. He had
- 5:40Speaker 1: a great at the plate.
- 5:41Speaker 2: Friday, he got the pinch it, he got the hit Saturday,
- 5:44Speaker 2: he went over three or three punchies, caught a lot
- 5:46Speaker 2: of balls in center field though he had like eight putouts.
- 5:48Speaker 1: He's gonna be good.
- 5:49Speaker 2: I like him. Yeah, no, he listened. He I mean,
- 5:51Speaker 2: just first Big League started and you get Clay Holmes
- 5:53Speaker 2: just throwing them freaking sinker balls. He's probably never seen
- 5:55Speaker 2: in Triple A before. In ninety six, I mean it was.
- 5:59Speaker 1: But Alec Thomas is going to get traded. It seems
- 6:03Speaker 1: he got to fade, but someone's gonna acquire him.
- 6:06Speaker 2: Yeah. I just don't know what the Mets can do.
- 6:09Speaker 2: I really don't know what they can do.
- 6:11Speaker 1: Well. The report we'll get to later says that they're
- 6:14Speaker 1: already just feeling out what they can get for their starters,
- 6:17Speaker 1: because you know what they do with starters hitting free
- 6:19Speaker 1: agency that are ones or twos or even some threes.
- 6:24Speaker 1: See you, they're not giving them five years. It's just
- 6:27Speaker 1: not their mo until they go through enough pain and
- 6:29Speaker 1: figure out they need to do that. But I want
- 6:32Speaker 1: to get to this trade because I want to spend
- 6:33Speaker 1: some time on this. I'm fascinated by this topic. So
- 6:36Speaker 1: let's charge charge. Okay, here we go. Patrick Bailey gets
- 6:44Speaker 1: traded from the Giants to the Cleveland Guardians and now
- 6:48Speaker 1: they have Austin Hedges and Patrick Bailey. On the other
- 6:51Speaker 1: side of this one Matt Tugboat Wilkinson, you might know
- 6:54Speaker 1: that name from the WBC. And then the number twenty
- 6:57Speaker 1: nine overall pick. That's a first round pick. It's a
- 6:59Speaker 1: good pick for the Giants to pick up, and they
- 7:03Speaker 1: had essentially given up on Bailey. They were like, the
- 7:08Speaker 1: offense hasn't been there for years. This year it's atrocious
- 7:11Speaker 1: and this team can't hit so as good as he
- 7:14Speaker 1: is at framing pitches. The Giants and Buster Posey, who
- 7:17Speaker 1: could freaking hit when he was a catcher in the
- 7:19Speaker 1: Bigs said I'm done. We're moving on to Susac and
- 7:22Speaker 1: hey Zus Rodriguez, who had a huge knock for them yesterday.
- 7:25Speaker 1: Your thoughts on this one for both sides.
- 7:28Speaker 2: I don't understand it from the Cleveland side, maybe more
- 7:31Speaker 2: than the Giant. The Giants were what you said, Susack's
- 7:34Speaker 2: been great, Rodriguez had a big hit for him. Bailey's
- 7:37Speaker 2: kind of grown stale in San Francisco because I mean,
- 7:40Speaker 2: it's been a couple of years now since he's hit
- 7:42Speaker 2: it all. But the thing for me is, didn't they
- 7:46Speaker 2: already have this guy? I mean, I know Bailey's an
- 7:48Speaker 2: upgrade from bow Naylor, but didn't they already have a
- 7:50Speaker 2: no hit, frame, defensive frame me catcher guy and now
- 7:54Speaker 2: they have Austin Hedges and Paley. I don't understand. I mean,
- 7:59Speaker 2: I guess Cleveland must think he's that big of an upgrade.
- 8:01Speaker 2: I mean, he might have to be a huge upgrade
- 8:03Speaker 2: for me, because then you send bow Naylor down. They've
- 8:06Speaker 2: kind of said they wanted him there. He's been there
- 8:07Speaker 2: for a few years too. He hasn't really done much either.
- 8:10Speaker 2: I don't know. Twenty ninth pick and a prospect is
- 8:12Speaker 2: a big give And the reason that everyone's saying is
- 8:15Speaker 2: the Giants wanted to have a huge bonus pool to
- 8:17Speaker 2: try to get what's his name, Rock Chalowsky, the guy
- 8:19Speaker 2: who's supposed to be the number one pick, a huge
- 8:21Speaker 2: Bob Nightingale reported this that he's supposed to They're supposed
- 8:24Speaker 2: to go way over slot and pay him, so he'll
- 8:26Speaker 2: say no to the white I think the Giants have
- 8:28Speaker 2: the fourth pick, so he'll fall to the fourth pick.
- 8:30Speaker 2: So because the Giants are just in love with him,
- 8:32Speaker 2: I don't know, Kratz. Maybe you have a better feeling
- 8:35Speaker 2: on this for me, but I just I don't see it.
- 8:37Speaker 2: I more don't see it. I mean the Giants, sure,
- 8:39Speaker 2: I see it from their side, but the Guardians. I
- 8:41Speaker 2: just don't understand why the Guardians would do this.
- 8:45Speaker 4: Cratzy, real simple man. When you're looking for the best
- 8:48Speaker 4: seats available where you had a big.
- 8:50Speaker 3: Dog seekiek super easy because they give us everything you need.
- 8:54Speaker 3: You can look at all that you can look at
- 8:56Speaker 3: where you're going to be sitting. I got to sit
- 8:58Speaker 3: at a certain spot. I want to be able to
- 8:59Speaker 3: see it whole field. I don't need to be close
- 9:01Speaker 3: to the field, gotta be a little higher out of
- 9:04Speaker 3: the sun. I'm bougie that way.
- 9:06Speaker 2: Of course you are.
- 9:07Speaker 4: And guess what. You have a big family, and so
- 9:09Speaker 4: do I. So you have to decide right away. You
- 9:11Speaker 4: gotta do something quick. This is real simple, it's affordable,
- 9:15Speaker 4: and it's fantastic for a big family like yours and
- 9:18Speaker 4: mine to get seats available as soon as possible. Oh no, yeah,
- 9:22Speaker 4: you need a code.
- 9:22Speaker 2: I got that for you too.
- 9:24Speaker 4: You can use code territory ten for ten percent off
- 9:27Speaker 4: your next set of tickets at seat geek. That's ten
- 9:30Speaker 4: percent of any tickets with promo code territory ten. Make

- 9:41Speaker 4: five million downloads, seat geek is the number one rated
- 9:44Speaker 4: ticketing app. Thank you, seat Geek.
- 9:47Speaker 3: That is such a that is such a crapshirit. If
- 9:49Speaker 3: you think Rock Chiholski, I forget how you say his
- 9:52Speaker 3: last name, but it's going to follow you in the
- 9:54Speaker 3: draft to definitely get rid of your starting catcher. Are
- 9:59Speaker 3: they saying that defense mattered before when the offense was okay,
- 10:06Speaker 3: and now the offense has been terrible because he's offensively challenged,
- 10:11Speaker 3: They're gonna get rid of him.
- 10:12Speaker 2: Believe me.
- 10:13Speaker 3: If there's a topic I know about, it's not hitting
- 10:16Speaker 3: in the big leagues. I don't care what team you are,
- 10:18Speaker 3: you get gotten rid of. So what were the Guardians
- 10:22Speaker 3: thinking when they're bringing him in? Nothing against Baillot? Yes,
- 10:27Speaker 3: behind a dish, he's winning gold gloves, Like he can receive,
- 10:31Speaker 3: he can receive really well. I know the Guardians really
- 10:33Speaker 3: want that stat. I know from knowing Buster and playing
- 10:38Speaker 3: with Buster. The receiving stat is not that it's not
- 10:42Speaker 3: that important to him. He thinks there is other values.
- 10:45Speaker 3: Other teams really really value that receiving stat. So I
- 10:50Speaker 3: think that's why the Guardians went and picked him up
- 10:53Speaker 3: and just said, okay, whatever on your hitting, Like we've
- 10:56Speaker 3: figured out how to have catched catchers that don't hit.
- 10:59Speaker 3: And because Buster posey when Farhan Zaidi was there, Buster
- 11:04Speaker 3: wanted I'm forgetting the catcher's name. He was there the
- 11:08Speaker 3: year before. Like the nicest guy, Hunley, Oh to manage. Well,
- 11:16Speaker 3: they wanted him to manage, but they wanted him to
- 11:20Speaker 3: come back, and Farhan Zaidi said, no, we're going to
- 11:23Speaker 3: trade for Krats because his receiving numbers are better, and
- 11:26Speaker 3: Posey said, who cares about receiving numbers. I know what
- 11:30Speaker 3: this guy can do in the big leagues. I want
- 11:32Speaker 3: him back. And they butted heads on that, so I
- 11:36Speaker 3: know Posey's well, he's not like, oh, receiving doesn't matter.
- 11:41Speaker 3: He just doesn't value it as much as the rest
- 11:44Speaker 3: of the industry values it.
- 11:47Speaker 1: And I don't even know if it's the rest of
- 11:49Speaker 1: the industry. The Guardians are the extreme example of a
- 11:51Speaker 1: team that values this particular type of player more than
- 11:55Speaker 1: maybe any other team. They are pitching defense, run prevention
- 11:59Speaker 1: to its core. They think that slumps less than hitting,
- 12:01Speaker 1: which is accurate, and then you get to the postseason
- 12:04Speaker 1: and they never hit enough to really go deep, right.
- 12:07Speaker 1: But their thing is, I think they do all this
- 12:08Speaker 1: saying we're gonna have a consistent enough competitive season and
- 12:11Speaker 1: maybe one year our hitters all get hot at the
- 12:14Speaker 1: same time, or we get one big bat and we're
- 12:16Speaker 1: able to push through. So that's like their emphasis on
- 12:19Speaker 1: this side. The Giants emphasis is our offense sucks, our
- 12:23Speaker 1: big three is doing nothing, and do you know who's
- 12:25Speaker 1: getting picked on as much as the big three? Patrick
- 12:29Speaker 1: Bailey fans were going freaking wild, pitchforks everywhere because he
- 12:33Speaker 1: hadn't hit for years, and maybe they don't value obviously.
- 12:36Speaker 2: Zach has been off to a good start, so they're
- 12:38Speaker 2: like Justice.
- 12:38Speaker 1: Sack and Rodriguez could be good, but he's not healthy.
- 12:43Speaker 1: I know, but Rodriguez yesterday was the guy. They're done
- 12:46Speaker 1: and it's not up to the fans to make the decisions.
- 12:48Speaker 1: My point is, you know how Volpi took the heat
- 12:51Speaker 1: last year for the Yankees. Basically with anything like that
- 12:54Speaker 1: was Bailey right now. If you if you looked at
- 12:57Speaker 1: any tweet that had significant comments on it, and I
- 12:59Speaker 1: know this isn't the best barometer, ninety eight percent of
- 13:02Speaker 1: the comments from Giants fans were like, oh, thank gosh,
- 13:06Speaker 1: we were so done with this and he was about
- 13:09Speaker 1: to get booted to more of a backup role for
- 13:12Speaker 1: the team because they need offense. They're not hitting, like
- 13:14Speaker 1: we're showing this. They're the Guardians, I know, but the Giants.
- 13:18Speaker 1: The Giants are in risk of falling out of it
- 13:21Speaker 1: in like the next few weeks.
- 13:22Speaker 2: They've alreadians falling out of it.
- 13:25Speaker 1: You think they're already out of it?
- 13:26Speaker 2: Do you think they're Do you think they're a playoff team?
- 13:28Speaker 2: The way they're constructed?
- 13:29Speaker 1: I don't think they look like a playoffs web on
- 13:31Speaker 1: the IL if I said to you, hey, dude, whatever
- 13:34Speaker 1: you can do to try and rescue yourself and try
- 13:36Speaker 1: and put together a winning streak, isn't this a move
- 13:39Speaker 1: you would maybe try to make and be like, all right,
- 13:41Speaker 1: well we need some offense here, So let's straight away.
- 13:43Speaker 1: The dude who's got like a twelve ops plus like
- 13:46Speaker 1: it's it's not working for him at all. He probably
- 13:48Speaker 1: needs a change of scenery with them.
- 13:50Speaker 2: He definitely needs a change. I mean they're sixteen and
- 13:52Speaker 2: twenty four.
- 13:53Speaker 1: That's not impossible to come back from. I mean the
- 13:55Speaker 1: Mets two years ago, we're ten games under the national
- 13:58Speaker 1: Yes it is. I do you guys not like this trade?
- 14:03Speaker 1: Like for me as a Giants fan, I.
- 14:05Speaker 2: For Giants, the Giants. I get it. I get it
- 14:08Speaker 2: from I've said this. I get the Giants side of it. Yeah,
- 14:10Speaker 2: I don't get the Guardian side of it.
- 14:12Speaker 1: I get both because I didn't have one. They have hedges,
- 14:15Speaker 1: So this is the catcher they like and they want
- 14:16Speaker 1: two of them, and they're.
- 14:17Speaker 2: Just got bo Naylor was kind of this guy though
- 14:19Speaker 2: too was doesn't bow Naylor, I don't know. Wasn't his
- 14:22Speaker 2: framing numbers good or no?
- 14:23Speaker 1: But Bailey's double anyone else in the last few years
- 14:25Speaker 1: in terms of the mess.
- 14:27Speaker 3: Not like Patrick Bailey, not like Patrick Bailey, and the
- 14:31Speaker 3: way that teams value it. I've said it before on here.
- 14:35Speaker 3: I saw a presentation by the Yankees that had Mike
- 14:39Speaker 3: Trout's MVP year and Hank Conger's season because Hank Conger.
- 14:44Speaker 3: If you don't remember Hank Conger, look it up. Hilarious
- 14:48Speaker 3: catcher that played for the Rays had a better season
- 14:52Speaker 3: in their value because of the receiving a better season
- 14:56Speaker 3: than Mike trout MVP season, Hank Conger was more valued.
- 15:00Speaker 3: So what Patrick Bailey is doing receiving wise, they are
- 15:06Speaker 3: enamored by. They like, this is a value that they
- 15:08Speaker 3: think is goes beyond home runs, goes beyond on base percentage,
- 15:13Speaker 3: goes beyond his twelve ops plus like it is the
- 15:19Speaker 3: teams that really really value it and find a diamond
- 15:23Speaker 3: and a rough like Patrick Bailey is is ridiculous. I'll
- 15:27Speaker 3: even pull up his sl double a strikes looking above
- 15:31Speaker 3: average for you here in a second.
- 15:34Speaker 1: Okay, while you're looking for it, I'll tell you this
- 15:38Speaker 1: year AJ two O seven on base one seventy six
- 15:44Speaker 1: slugging for, if not the worst a bottom three offense
- 15:47Speaker 1: in baseball even park adjusted, that is eight games under
- 15:52Speaker 1: and is, like you said, very close to thinking about
- 15:56Speaker 1: selling at the trade deadline. And that would include Robbie Ray,
- 15:59Speaker 1: who's free agent after this year. Who knows, maybe they
- 16:01Speaker 1: even listen to offers for Logan Web if he gets
- 16:03Speaker 1: himself back on track. I know he just went on
- 16:05Speaker 1: the shelf with the kneebersitis, but this could get bad
- 16:09Speaker 1: really quickly. I give credit to Buster Posey for taking
- 16:12Speaker 1: big swings. Some of the swings haven't worked yet, but
- 16:14Speaker 1: that doesn't mean you stop, Like should he just get
- 16:16Speaker 1: timid and say, hey, you know what, the industry just
- 16:19Speaker 1: loves the framing value from Patrick Bailey and he still
- 16:23Speaker 1: steals a ton of strikes. No, this team identity wise
- 16:27Speaker 1: needs to figure out offense. They can't afford to have
- 16:29Speaker 1: an auto out right.
- 16:32Speaker 2: Yeah, wouldn't you do would you. I'm not arguing with you.
- 16:37Speaker 2: I get it from the Giants side.
- 16:38Speaker 1: Why do you keep thinking you're just saying I don't
- 16:40Speaker 1: get it from the guard.
- 16:40Speaker 2: I don't get I get the Giants change of scenery,
- 16:44Speaker 2: they get the twenty ninth pick, they get a prospect.
- 16:47Speaker 2: I got no problem with the Giants doing this. The
- 16:50Speaker 2: Giants are the Giants are my question mark. My question
- 16:53Speaker 2: is the Guardians. They need offense too. He doesn't bring offense.
- 16:56Speaker 3: No, they But I think what Scott said is perfect.
- 16:59Speaker 3: They're doubling down, tripling down on the defense when they
- 17:03Speaker 3: have an opportunity to get this. So right now, Patrick
- 17:06Speaker 3: Bailey is third in the league, behind Dylan Dingler and
- 17:10Speaker 3: Austin Wells. He has caught essentially the same amount of
- 17:14Speaker 3: pitches where the next Guardians catcher is is bow Nailor
- 17:19Speaker 3: and Austin Hedges are above average, but Patrick Bailey basically
- 17:25Speaker 3: has caught twice as many more strikes.
- 17:29Speaker 1: Strike's looking at bowling strikes. You're saying like stolen strikes.
- 17:33Speaker 1: Basically the chart we showed if you're looking visually for
- 17:36Speaker 1: our crowd, and if you're listening, I'll just describe we
- 17:39Speaker 1: showed there. It is all of the pitches outside of
- 17:41Speaker 1: the zone this year with the challenge system that Patrick
- 17:45Speaker 1: Bailey has stolen and if you look at the last
- 17:47Speaker 1: few years, he has kind of lapped the field in
- 17:49Speaker 1: this category and that's why some teams are obsessed with him.
- 17:53Speaker 1: But I'm just going over all the stats that the
- 17:55Speaker 1: front office is like. They all have their you know how,
- 17:57Speaker 1: they all have their own version of a stat. There's
- 17:59Speaker 1: more negative war player this year right now because of
- 18:02Speaker 1: the bat. So the Giants, we're good.
- 18:05Speaker 2: They signed Alison Hedges to a two year deal. They
- 18:07Speaker 2: need offense. Everyone knows the Guardians need offense. So you
- 18:11Speaker 2: send Bo Naylor down. Who's a little bit better of
- 18:14Speaker 2: a hitter?
- 18:14Speaker 1: Oh yeah, he's definitely better hit, but a.
- 18:16Speaker 2: Little bit less of a framer. Yes, And this is
- 18:20Speaker 2: not a knock on Hedgy because we all love Hedgy.
- 18:22Speaker 2: But wouldn't a move be to make Patrick Bailey maybe
- 18:25Speaker 2: more of a platoony guy with Bo Naylor instead of Hedges.
- 18:29Speaker 1: But they already signed Hedges if they could have.
- 18:32Speaker 2: Gotten I know, that's kind of what the that's kind
- 18:35Speaker 2: of the that's another reason. What from the Guardian standpoint,
- 18:37Speaker 2: I don't I don't know that.
- 18:39Speaker 1: I I think they saw an opportunity where he was hitting,
- 18:42Speaker 1: like his stock was so low on offense right that
- 18:45Speaker 1: this was the time to acquire him. And now they
- 18:46Speaker 1: can have him for years. And now Hedges will ride
- 18:50Speaker 1: out another year and a half with the team, but
- 18:52Speaker 1: they've got two of them, and he can learn from
- 18:53Speaker 1: Hedges and maybe try and switch things up and figure
- 18:55Speaker 1: out a little bit of offense if you gave The
- 18:58Speaker 1: Guardians have been on him for a years, so in
- 19:00Speaker 1: the off season, if you said, hey, you can get Bailey,
- 19:01Speaker 1: they would have done this trade in the off season
- 19:04Speaker 1: in a heartbeat. Okay, it was just an opportunity thing.
- 19:07Speaker 1: I just think it's a I mean, you can see
- 19:09Speaker 1: I'm excited about this. I think it's a fascinating trade.
- 19:11Speaker 1: I just thought it was cool when I saw.
- 19:12Speaker 2: It was a fascinating trade. I just I see it
- 19:14Speaker 2: from one side. I don't see from the other. But hey,
- 19:15Speaker 2: I hope we're severing both of them, big dog.
- 19:19Speaker 4: You know how it is, man, We're always hungry, and
- 19:21Speaker 4: how do we get our food. We don't want the

- 19:36Speaker 3: I'm good at two things, cookie is one of them,
- 19:38Speaker 3: but not trying to choose what we're gonna have. I've
- 19:42Speaker 3: gone fifteen meals so far and they haven't given me
- 19:44Speaker 3: one repeat meal. There's so many to choose from, and
- 19:47Speaker 3: they can make it easy for me.
- 19:49Speaker 4: Yeah, And I think the best part of it is
- 19:51Speaker 4: is for me. I'm very particular. I'm trying new things

- 20:19Speaker 1: Well, this to me is more of a philosophical thing.
- 20:23Speaker 1: You're looking at Cleveland like I am and saying, hey, guys,
- 20:26Speaker 1: like it's been cute. You've been able to keep this
- 20:28Speaker 1: run going where you're mostly competitive every year. But aside
- 20:32Speaker 1: from what was it two years ago they got to
- 20:34Speaker 1: was it the CS with the Yankees two years ago?
- 20:36Speaker 3: Was that already?
- 20:37Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 20:38Speaker 1: Yeah, Aside from that, you're like, okay, now we're looking
- 20:40Speaker 1: back to the World Series against the Cubs. They were
- 20:42Speaker 1: a little more invested financially back then. There's a little
- 20:45Speaker 1: more balance on offense. You just feel like it's the
- 20:48Speaker 1: same brand over and over again. Is that what you're saying. Yeah, yeah,
- 20:52Speaker 1: I get that too. You just don't feel like they
- 20:54Speaker 1: have a chance when they get to the postseason.
- 20:57Speaker 2: But the Seals a strike every once in a while.
- 21:00Speaker 2: They need somebody that can hit the ball over the plate,
- 21:03Speaker 2: over the whole. They need a guy they can go
- 21:05Speaker 2: up there and hit a ball over the fence every
- 21:07Speaker 2: once in a while. Oh, Naylor, let's forget did pretty
- 21:09Speaker 2: well in the postseason last year. I mean, I don't know.
- 21:13Speaker 2: That's the That's why it's fascinating, because they need they
- 21:16Speaker 2: need one of them big old dudes that can go
- 21:18Speaker 2: up there and whack the ball over the fence.
- 21:20Speaker 3: How much that costs? How much does that cost? Because
- 21:24Speaker 3: in this in this trade, the Guardians haven't given away
- 21:28Speaker 3: any of their what they perceive is value. I mean
- 21:34Speaker 3: a minor league pitcher. If there's an organization that's like, hey,
- 21:37Speaker 3: we'll give this guy a chance in the big leagues.
- 21:39Speaker 3: We'll give this guy the draft pick. I'm not I'm
- 21:43Speaker 3: not well versed on you know how much.
- 21:46Speaker 1: No, that's a high value. Crats, that's a high.
- 21:48Speaker 3: I get it is. I get it is. But I'm saying,
- 21:51Speaker 3: what's hurting this team right now? They feel like they
- 21:53Speaker 3: made an upgrade and like the story I told you
- 21:56Speaker 3: about Hank Konger and Mike Trout, they feel like those
- 22:00Speaker 3: strikes are equal to home runs. And I'm sorry whoever
- 22:05Speaker 3: came up with that.
- 22:07Speaker 2: Whoever came up with that is one of the dumbest
- 22:09Speaker 2: people in the history of baseball, that Hank Conger and
- 22:12Speaker 2: Mike Trawler is equally valuable. I like Hank Conger, nice fella,
- 22:15Speaker 2: But Mike Trout back in those days was the best
- 22:18Speaker 2: player in baseball and it wasn't really that close. And
- 22:20Speaker 2: now we're comparing saying Hank Conger was more valuable because
- 22:22Speaker 2: he steals a strike a game.
- 22:25Speaker 1: Sorry, No, the secret sauce is somebody who's above average
- 22:29Speaker 1: it doing.
- 22:29Speaker 2: This is the war argument. This is the war argument.
- 22:32Speaker 2: This is the this is the it's all the it's
- 22:36Speaker 2: beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It's not
- 22:38Speaker 2: even a high war guy. Though. You can't tell me
- 22:41Speaker 2: though I am again, there's so many of these comparisons on Twitter,
- 22:44Speaker 2: on Exit all that stuff like it. You guys know
- 22:47Speaker 2: right this. You can't tell me that there was Alfonso
- 22:49Speaker 2: Soriano one the other day. Alfonso Soriana was like a
- 22:52Speaker 2: thirty thirty guaranteed every year with sometimes forty forty guys,
- 22:57Speaker 2: and he was compared to like these two other guys.
- 22:59Speaker 2: And I'm like, I'd much rather face the other two
- 23:01Speaker 2: guys every day than Alfonso Soriano. They're like, well, his
- 23:04Speaker 2: defense is bad. I don't care that dude who hit
- 23:06Speaker 2: me forty He knocked in way more than he let
- 23:08Speaker 2: it and his defense wasn't that bad.
- 23:09Speaker 1: And you can't have Do you want three Sorianas in
- 23:12Speaker 1: the outfield? No?
- 23:13Speaker 2: No, But you can have one, correct, You can have
- 23:15Speaker 2: one one Sodo in your outfield, but you better have
- 23:17Speaker 2: two dudes that can go get it well.
- 23:18Speaker 1: The separate story, but the Pirates with Reynolds and the
- 23:21Speaker 1: Cruise right now in the outfield has caused a problem.
- 23:23Speaker 2: Oh, he's been really good defense. The Cruse is swinging it, so.
- 23:26Speaker 1: I know there's just a balance it. And also where
- 23:28Speaker 1: the Pirates playing better than they have in years right now,
- 23:30Speaker 1: so they're in a good spot. But wait, Bailey, I
- 23:33Speaker 1: mean this year I mentioned negative war last year one
- 23:35Speaker 1: point one Baseball Reference were a year before one point seven.
- 23:38Speaker 1: He's not like a five war players.
- 23:40Speaker 2: What do he hit last year?
- 23:41Speaker 1: Last year he was twenty two two seventy seven on
- 23:45Speaker 1: base three, twenty five slug, seventy two ops plus so.
- 23:49Speaker 2: He was in the five hundreds in ops five six
- 23:53Speaker 2: oh two.
- 23:54Speaker 3: Oh so sorry, we got wat h at the end
- 23:56Speaker 3: of the year for that too.
- 23:57Speaker 2: He did get hot. I remember he was worried.
- 24:01Speaker 1: I don't know, but I think eventually they just said uncle.
- 24:06Speaker 1: And if this team was rolling offensively, maybe it's looked
- 24:10Speaker 1: at differently. But this team is struggling now. They just lost.
- 24:13Speaker 1: I mean they optioned Bryan Walker. Web is hurt, like
- 24:17Speaker 1: they're kind.
- 24:17Speaker 2: Of man goes out to the mountain and takes a
- 24:19Speaker 2: picture out and they don't know who to come who's
- 24:20Speaker 2: supposed to come in and they're out there going which one,
- 24:23Speaker 2: which one to use and then finally one of the
- 24:26Speaker 2: players goes the left Domas one of the players on
- 24:29Speaker 2: the mountain. I think it was Chapman's like Domas, Domas
- 24:32Speaker 2: did it. Domins is out there going lefty, lefty.
- 24:35Speaker 1: Did you see the Shawshank quote?
- 24:37Speaker 2: I did.
- 24:37Speaker 1: They're rolling through Pooh right now, and it is what
- 24:40Speaker 1: it is. That's what's going on with this team, so
- 24:42Speaker 1: they're trying to switch it up. I loved it when
- 24:44Speaker 1: I saw it for the Giants, I was like, good
- 24:46Speaker 1: for you. Figure something else out. You cannot have any
- 24:49Speaker 1: dead spots in your lineup because it's not good enough.
- 24:51Speaker 1: And the big three combined right now, Chapman, Adamis Endeavors
- 24:55Speaker 1: is I think about a six hundred ops.
- 24:57Speaker 2: Yeah, I know Devers is not.
- 25:00Speaker 1: It's it's been so bad.
- 25:02Speaker 2: That's the Casey Schmidt's is the guy that can hit.
- 25:05Speaker 1: Those three should have a nine hundred ops.
- 25:07Speaker 3: Yes, that's the whole difference of.
- 25:08Speaker 2: The Seasons't done anything Nader's heard, obviously, it's been rough
- 25:12Speaker 2: out in San Francisco.
- 25:13Speaker 1: Yeah, good chat. The Red snapped and eight game skid
- 25:20Speaker 1: on Saturday was getting really bad, but then they won
- 25:23Speaker 1: the last two in the series against Houston and Nick
- 25:26Speaker 1: Lidolo's backd they play the lowly Houston Astros. Well, sometimes
- 25:32Speaker 1: you need a team to kind of help you get
- 25:34Speaker 1: out of the hot was it the Astros?
- 25:38Speaker 2: Who they play Giants? Oh, giant Giants in.
- 25:41Speaker 1: That Rocket weekend? Yeah, hey, you have to beat the
- 25:45Speaker 1: bad teams though, tough.
- 25:46Speaker 2: Schedule matters though, remember you get.
- 25:48Speaker 3: Used to you.
- 25:49Speaker 1: No, I agree, I'm with you, but I mean, I.
- 25:54Speaker 2: Mean, look at the Diamondbacks are pitching is awful.
- 25:56Speaker 1: Who they play Matts? Get out of your slump with great.
- 26:01Speaker 3: Call and Andrew abbits looking good, Andrew Abbits starting to
- 26:06Speaker 3: starting to throw a lot better. But I mean struck
- 26:08Speaker 3: out your Don Alvarez three times, first time ever that
- 26:12Speaker 3: Jordon struck out four times in a game in the.
- 26:15Speaker 1: Show, Lidolo is not He's always been nasty always, like
- 26:20Speaker 1: we say.
- 26:20Speaker 2: He just can't stay healthy, just hasn't been healthy.
- 26:23Speaker 1: But he is nasty. I mean, if you have him
- 26:25Speaker 1: healthy and your the Reds, and then you get to
- 26:26Speaker 1: a playoff series, you get excited when you have him.
- 26:31Speaker 1: Green's gonna come back I think in July. But they
- 26:33Speaker 1: need to stay afloat too. Can't lose.
- 26:37Speaker 2: Well, I mean it was against the Cubs. The Cubs,
- 26:39Speaker 2: just the Cubs, like the soul in those three games.
- 26:43Speaker 1: They really did it four games, four games them in
- 26:48Speaker 1: four three, walked them off three.
- 26:49Speaker 2: Times and just banged him up the fourth. Yeah, they
- 26:52Speaker 2: that was like one of those soul killing games.
- 26:57Speaker 1: Braves were playing for Bobby Cox. We're going to to
- 27:00Speaker 1: talk to a special guest straining us in a little
- 27:02Speaker 1: bit about him. But first on the series, bravemin series
- 27:06Speaker 1: over the Dodgers. Impressive.
- 27:09Speaker 2: They played well. Yeah, they swung the bats really well. Yeah,
- 27:14Speaker 2: the Braves are good. They're good if they're starting, pitching
- 27:16Speaker 2: stays healthy and they stay there, they're pitching stays healthy,
- 27:19Speaker 2: They're they're good.
- 27:20Speaker 1: Right now, This version of Bryce Elder, Yes Streider after
- 27:26Speaker 1: the first one was rocky, and they were like, actually, give.
- 27:29Speaker 2: All those weird quotes about I don't want to get
- 27:31Speaker 2: a participation. We'll go out and just pitched. He did
- 27:34Speaker 2: back one start. Yeah, let's not cry too much now,
- 27:36Speaker 2: Like it's been one start.
- 27:38Speaker 1: Right, it looked much better. And the Dodgers offense actually
- 27:41Speaker 1: has been slumping for the last few weeks. That includes
- 27:44Speaker 1: o Taani Kratz. They haven't had a lot of slug
- 27:46Speaker 1: Mookie bats is coming back tonight Monday, but you know,
- 27:50Speaker 1: they needed a little bit of a spark. They almost
- 27:52Speaker 1: seem like they've got the World Series hangover cruise control
- 27:55Speaker 1: mode going here.
- 27:57Speaker 3: I mean, I would just say going into the series,
- 28:00Speaker 3: the Braves, I know they lost their first series going
- 28:02Speaker 3: into the Dodgers series, but the Dodgers are playing very
- 28:05Speaker 3: poorly going into the series, and I mean it looked
- 28:07Speaker 3: like it right now. The Braves are playing better than
- 28:09Speaker 3: the Dodgers. Does that mean they're better than the Dodgers.
- 28:13Speaker 3: I'm not ready to say that, but they're playing better
- 28:15Speaker 3: than them. So you talk about schedule when you play
- 28:19Speaker 3: a team matters too. Now Snell came back a little eh.
- 28:24Speaker 3: The Dodgers pushed Rokie back. Rokie's now throwing today. They
- 28:30Speaker 3: didn't face Yamamoto. I think I think for the Braves,
- 28:34Speaker 3: as hot as they are, what Olson's doing, what Albi's
- 28:38Speaker 3: is doing, I think it's crazy that they're not getting
- 28:41Speaker 3: anything from Austin Riley. They're not getting anything from Acunya well,
- 28:45Speaker 3: I mean Acunya level things, and I just I think
- 28:50Speaker 3: they're there. I mean, they're they could they talk about
- 28:53Speaker 3: a team that's on cruise control. They could be on
- 28:54Speaker 3: cruise control the rest of the year, So hopefully that
- 28:57Speaker 3: helps them keep their pitchers healthy and they can go
- 29:00Speaker 3: into Game one and two with Strider and Sale because
- 29:04Speaker 3: now all of a sudden, the Braves become a big problem.
- 29:08Speaker 1: Yeah, they have a nine game lead at the moment.
- 29:11Speaker 1: You like this tweet from CJ. Nidkowski, who's on our
- 29:15Speaker 1: show the other day, does Braves TV. He said, wins
- 29:17Speaker 1: Braves two Dodgers one. I mean, you know, he likes
- 29:19Speaker 1: to have a little fun with it. Bray's outscoring them,
- 29:24Speaker 1: Dodgers out payrolling them. Now that pitcher on the roster
- 29:29Speaker 1: thing is a whole topic for the entire season and
- 29:31Speaker 1: even was added on to from the weekend, which maybe
- 29:33Speaker 1: we'll get to. But he said, despite the pitcher disadvantage,
- 29:37Speaker 1: the Braves take the series now. No o Tani no Yamamoto.
- 29:40Speaker 1: Every Dodgers fan watching this clip right now is like, okay, cool.
- 29:44Speaker 2: Still one two out of the three yep in Dodger
- 29:46Speaker 2: Stadium that they got swept last year and at the
- 29:48Speaker 2: beginning of the year.
- 29:49Speaker 1: Yes, but what does it tell you about these two
- 29:51Speaker 1: teams that they meet up in the NLCS, not much. Yeah,
- 29:55Speaker 1: braiks our chance. I think we.
- 29:56Speaker 2: Figured that if they get there, if they both get there.
- 29:58Speaker 2: But yeah, I think you mentioned some What is a
- 30:01Speaker 2: Tawani three for four for thirty three with no homer,
- 30:05Speaker 2: one homer and like one hundred at bats.
- 30:06Speaker 1: One hundred two plate appearances. Yeah, the pitching, we're not
- 30:10Speaker 1: allowed to say that.
- 30:12Speaker 2: We've talked about this. The pitching is God. Your fans
- 30:16Speaker 2: hear Mamber when he he's older now than he was
- 30:20Speaker 2: in Anaheim, and it takes a toll on your talk
- 30:23Speaker 2: to any pitcher how sore they are the next day
- 30:25Speaker 2: after they pitch. Even guys that have been doing it
- 30:27Speaker 2: a really long time and are in really good shape,
- 30:30Speaker 2: they are like, my body is fatigue, and I got
- 30:31Speaker 2: to go out there and try and get a hit
- 30:33Speaker 2: against the guy throwing a hundred. It's hard. That's why
- 30:35Speaker 2: we don't see these guys. That's why there's only one
- 30:37Speaker 2: of these guys. That's why there's only one team that
- 30:39Speaker 2: has fourteen pitchers and the rest have thirteen.
- 30:41Speaker 1: I want a tiny to thrive, play every day, hit,
- 30:43Speaker 1: every day, pitch every year. This is what six seven
- 30:46Speaker 1: days remembers got viscerated in the off season. For talking
- 30:49Speaker 1: about this also is laughing.
- 30:50Speaker 2: I also remember this what I said when, and I've
- 30:53Speaker 2: said this since the inception of Otani's contract. What happens
- 30:57Speaker 2: if he wakes up one day and says, you know what,
- 30:58Speaker 2: I just want to be a fifty to fifty guy.
- 31:00Speaker 2: I don't want to pitch.
- 31:00Speaker 1: Any He's going to just not yet, he is going
- 31:02Speaker 1: to do that. Don't you think that's part of the
- 31:04Speaker 1: reason why this year he wants.
- 31:05Speaker 2: To try to win a Sight Award.
- 31:07Speaker 1: Maybe you can have that on the Ledger for individual
- 31:10Speaker 1: maybe I think.
- 31:12Speaker 3: So, it's still worth it to answer, to answer your question,
- 31:19Speaker 3: it's still worth it. It's probably already got the seven
- 31:22Speaker 3: hundred million dollars back and they haven't even paid him yet.
- 31:25Speaker 3: They're gonna pay him six million after this year, and
- 31:27Speaker 3: you know, the numbers just keep expounding, like he's made
- 31:30Speaker 3: one hundred and twenty five million off the field, and
- 31:35Speaker 3: there they've made one hundred million, and then one hundred
- 31:38Speaker 3: and seventy five million, like it's worth every penny. And
- 31:42Speaker 3: teams were.
- 31:42Speaker 1: Like, I don't know if we're going to be able
- 31:44Speaker 1: to go to that number.
- 31:45Speaker 3: I don't know if we could get as high as
- 31:47Speaker 3: Otani wants it. Well, you know what, he's still the
- 31:51Speaker 3: best player on Let's put it this way. Here's my
- 31:54Speaker 3: question to you. He's not gonna win the cy Young
- 31:55Speaker 3: because he's gonna hit. It's gonna wear him down. Blah
- 31:58Speaker 3: blah blah. Let's say that's a fact. He hits two
- 32:01Speaker 3: thirty with fifteen homers on the season, is he still
- 32:05Speaker 3: the MVP? No, Yes, because he's going to be in
- 32:14Speaker 3: the cy Young race. He's a pitcher and a header.
- 32:16Speaker 3: He's the MVP. I can't handle. I can't, I can't. Yes,
- 32:22Speaker 3: he's the most valuable player in the league without a doubt.
- 32:26Speaker 2: I agreed.
- 32:27Speaker 1: And he's not going to finish two thirty fifteen.
- 32:30Speaker 3: He's not.
- 32:31Speaker 1: If he's healthy. Yeah, if he's healthy, the numbers are,
- 32:35Speaker 1: even on a down quote down year, are going to
- 32:37Speaker 1: be all star caliber offense. And right now, the way
- 32:41Speaker 1: he's pitching is absurd, even if he makes twenty five starts.
- 32:45Speaker 1: But you guys are right, you were spot on from
- 32:47Speaker 1: the offseason. This is what happens in the online world.
- 32:51Speaker 1: We post a clip and all of a sudden, everybody
- 32:53Speaker 1: just becomes a historian and says, well, you guys didn't
- 32:56Speaker 1: watch him in Anaheim. That was a million years ago.
- 33:00Speaker 1: They're like, he hit and he pitched and he was amazing,
- 33:02Speaker 1: And you guys are like, yeah, that was a surgery
- 33:04Speaker 1: in five years ago or whatever it was.
- 33:07Speaker 3: But I also know that he's he's learned more. He's
- 33:12Speaker 3: learned more about the what makes him successful to hit
- 33:16Speaker 3: in this time when he was stop when he stopped pitching,
- 33:19Speaker 3: and to do those things. You don't just like, oh,
- 33:22Speaker 3: you know what, I'll do, this will be easier. I'll
- 33:24Speaker 3: just hit these fifty home runs. He knows how to
- 33:27Speaker 3: get into his legs, he knows how to hit, and
- 33:29Speaker 3: he's not had that just extreme body just usage from
- 33:36Speaker 3: pitching during these last two years when he was rehabbing. Yes,
- 33:41Speaker 3: which is tough, absolutely, but he's going out there and
- 33:44Speaker 3: doing things at the plate that I think could get
- 33:48Speaker 3: in the way of his pitching, and then his pitching
- 33:50Speaker 3: gets in the way of his hitting. Like those are
- 33:52Speaker 3: things it is. He is a different person than he
- 33:56Speaker 3: wasn't Anaheim, And go back and look at his numbers
- 34:00Speaker 3: and Anaheim, they weren't what the level of expectator. To me,
- 34:02Speaker 3: that's what he's going to do this year. There was
- 34:05Speaker 3: a there was a bed on bet MGM would he hit?
- 34:08Speaker 3: Would he be over or under fifty home runs? To me,
- 34:11Speaker 3: I think it's the lock that he was going to
- 34:12Speaker 3: be under. Maybe I think the number was forty nine
- 34:14Speaker 3: and a half and it was a lock it was
- 34:17Speaker 3: going to be under. Just because of how much wear
- 34:20Speaker 3: and tear it takes. It doesn't take anything away from
- 34:23Speaker 3: this mythological beast that Otani is. It's just really really
- 34:27Speaker 3: hard to do.
- 34:32Speaker 1: They're going to be fine. They know what they're doing.
- 34:34Speaker 1: The Dodgers know what they're doing. He knows what he's doing.
- 34:37Speaker 1: He's not a young pup anymore. He had to figure
- 34:39Speaker 1: himself out and it's going to evolve as he goes.
- 34:42Speaker 2: And as you get older it gets harder.
- 34:44Speaker 1: Yes, the Dodgers care about one thing healthy. I mean,
- 34:47Speaker 1: obviously they want health found for the regular season, but
- 34:49Speaker 1: they just want to make sure that whatever the journey is,
- 34:52Speaker 1: it ends up with him in October being able to
- 34:55Speaker 1: do both at his best, because in October they want
- 34:57Speaker 1: him to pitch and hit, so on those days they're like.
- 35:00Speaker 2: With the extra off days. Yeah, they also need Glass
- 35:02Speaker 2: now to come back. They need Snell to get back,
- 35:04Speaker 2: They need motor.
- 35:05Speaker 1: Glass Now out snell In. Snell will be fine. I mean,
- 35:08Speaker 1: this is what they do. Though Glass Now on almost
- 35:10Speaker 1: any other team was not going to get ieled. They
- 35:12Speaker 1: even said multiple times to the media, were not ieling him,
- 35:14Speaker 1: and then they kind of look at the roster crunch.
- 35:16Speaker 1: They look at glass now and they're just like, why
- 35:19Speaker 1: not just give him a couple of weeks and then
- 35:23Speaker 1: someone else will be hurt and then he'll come in,
- 35:25Speaker 1: and then someone else come out, and then he'll have
- 35:27Speaker 1: twenty something starts because he's not going to make thirty
- 35:30Speaker 1: starts the way the Dodgers.
- 35:32Speaker 2: Work to make sure.
- 35:34Speaker 3: The Dodger people that are going to hate on us
- 35:36Speaker 3: for talking about Otani struggling right now, he has a
- 35:40Speaker 3: one twenty seven ops plus right now, right now the
- 35:43Speaker 3: season ends, he is the MVP of the National League?
- 35:48Speaker 3: Case closed?
- 35:55Speaker 2: What the MVP right now?
- 35:57Speaker 3: He is? Yes, who is that?
- 36:04Speaker 1: I'm not doubting that.
- 36:05Speaker 2: I'm saying he's more valuable. I'm just there's people there's
- 36:08Speaker 2: I'd have to dig in right now, Matt Olsen, he's
- 36:11Speaker 2: more valuable than to his team at this moment. Yeah,
- 36:18Speaker 2: how about Drake Baldwin.
- 36:20Speaker 3: Great season? Freaking those guys are raking right now there,
- 36:24Speaker 3: So then you're.
- 36:24Speaker 2: Telling me, as long as show hey hits and pitches,
- 36:26Speaker 2: he's gonna win MVP every year, then why even have it?
- 36:29Speaker 2: That's argument, I know, it's that's I hate that argument.
- 36:32Speaker 2: I think that's dumb. I think people need to get
- 36:34Speaker 2: out of just if he has an unbelievable season like
- 36:37Speaker 2: he's had, then yes he should win. But if he
- 36:39Speaker 2: has an average season, then we shouldn't just automatically give
- 36:43Speaker 2: it to him.
- 36:43Speaker 3: He's twenty seven percent higher, twenty seven percent better than
- 36:47Speaker 3: the league average hitter right now, twenty seven percent better.
- 36:51Speaker 2: That's not saying much. There's a lot of bad hitters
- 36:52Speaker 2: right now.
- 36:53Speaker 3: Okay, but it's a one twenty seven ops plus. If
- 36:57Speaker 3: you're just going by that, he's a three, not.
- 37:00Speaker 1: Just bat that's an all star bat one.
- 37:03Speaker 3: And he's the leader in say Young voting right now
- 37:06Speaker 3: for the National League MVP. He's closed.
- 37:10Speaker 2: M wow, Skames is coming. Do you see Skames pitch
- 37:13Speaker 2: against this weekend? I agree for Thursday?
- 37:16Speaker 1: Yeah, Wednesday, Thursday, Yeah, almost went the distance, but that
- 37:21Speaker 1: was yeah, whatever, he's two, he's three.
- 37:23Speaker 2: Like I know, I'm just saying, I just don't think
- 37:26Speaker 2: that we should listen. I love show. Hey, we all
- 37:28Speaker 2: love show.
- 37:28Speaker 3: Hey.
- 37:28Speaker 2: Okay, he's probably the greatest player we'll ever see in
- 37:32Speaker 2: our lifetime on both sides of the ball, offense and defense,
- 37:36Speaker 2: pitching and hitting. Come bye, I just don't. I hate
- 37:38Speaker 2: that we just automatically, Well, he's.
- 37:41Speaker 1: Got to perform, but he does perform. It's it's it's
- 37:46Speaker 1: a fair advantage because he pitches and hits, so he's
- 37:51Speaker 1: uber valuable. He gives you the roster spot, he gives
- 37:54Speaker 1: you the all star caliber offense. He's pitching like a
- 37:56Speaker 1: number one starter. He's in He's insane. He's the best
- 37:59Speaker 1: player ever. One more thing before we jump from the
- 38:02Speaker 1: conversation between these two teams. So Mookie's coming back for
- 38:05Speaker 1: the Dodgers, and obviously they'll keep getting healthier as they
- 38:08Speaker 1: go with Glass now eventually back and Edwin Diaez will
- 38:12Speaker 1: come back later in the year. So like the bullpen
- 38:14Speaker 1: should look stronger for the brave side. Akunya wasn't in
- 38:17Speaker 1: this series. Of course, he'll be back, maybe in a
- 38:19Speaker 1: weakish Hasan Kim about your debut today? I think activated
- 38:24Speaker 1: do they play today or tomorrow?
- 38:25Speaker 2: Whatever it is?
- 38:27Speaker 1: He's back, So Dubon has been one of the best
- 38:30Speaker 1: pickups of the off season. He's been that freaking good.
- 38:33Speaker 1: Now you can mix and match him all over the field.
- 38:36Speaker 1: They're starting to get like that deeper y going yeah
- 38:41Speaker 1: like that. What makes the cub special is, in my
- 38:44Speaker 1: mind is some of the depth they've got right, Like
- 38:46Speaker 1: the bench is really good. The Braves are going to
- 38:48Speaker 1: have that here. That's what's're good.
- 38:51Speaker 2: They've got to keep their pictures healthy.
- 38:53Speaker 3: But that's been the thing. Under a Snicker, everybody plays
- 38:59Speaker 3: one hundred and sixty games, and so it'll be interesting
- 39:02Speaker 3: to see when they have Dubon maybe in more of
- 39:05Speaker 3: like the utility role. He's earned more at bats. He's
- 39:09Speaker 3: earned us at bats once Kim comes back now. But
- 39:12Speaker 3: under Snicker, every one of these dudes wants to play
- 39:15Speaker 3: until they get hurt. So it'll be interesting to see
- 39:18Speaker 3: how Walt Weiss deploys these guys.
- 39:20Speaker 1: There's already a new philosophy. Walt Weiss said, what is
- 39:24Speaker 1: my brand going to be? And one of the pillars
- 39:28Speaker 1: was that he is going to tell you sometimes you're
- 39:30Speaker 1: gonna sit and if you don't like it, fight him.
- 39:34Speaker 1: Best of them won't.
- 39:35Speaker 3: He won't tell Matt Olson, that Matt Olsen will play,
- 39:37Speaker 3: but Matt Olson's to stay healthy too.
- 39:40Speaker 2: You know.
- 39:40Speaker 3: Right now, Austin Riley maybe should take a day, let
- 39:44Speaker 3: Dubon play and then you get them back in there.
- 39:46Speaker 3: Maybe that gets him hot, because if he gets hot,
- 39:48Speaker 3: this team will be unstoppable.
- 39:50Speaker 1: And he did say everyone but Olsen anyone else, it's
- 39:54Speaker 1: a fair game to take a seat every once in
- 39:56Speaker 1: a while. Olsen's also proven it. He's got the street
- 39:59Speaker 1: going and he's pretty like his production doesn't really dip.
- 40:02Speaker 2: So Clubs and Braves suit this week.
- 40:04Speaker 1: By the way, it's gonna be good. We're gonna get
- 40:06Speaker 1: to the Cubs later. Hey, a couple moves from the
- 40:09Speaker 1: weekend the Tigers, I held carry Carpenter left a c
- 40:14Speaker 1: joint spring for him.
- 40:16Speaker 2: That was after you gave up the Inside the Park Homer?
- 40:18Speaker 2: Do Bobby Witt?
- 40:19Speaker 1: Was it from that play?
- 40:20Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 40:23Speaker 1: The Bobby Witt.
- 40:25Speaker 2: Sixteen second inside the Park Homer.
- 40:27Speaker 1: Yeah, absolute freaking.
- 40:29Speaker 2: Cage workman worked out his first Tigers at ballot.
- 40:32Speaker 1: I was dead last night. Yeah, and the Tigers picked
- 40:35Speaker 1: up a much neat I mean whatever. It's early in
- 40:37Speaker 1: the season, but they had been really struggled slumping that
- 40:41Speaker 1: broke a one two three.
- 40:44Speaker 2: Because when I was there a couple weeks ago, he
- 40:46Speaker 2: said he thought he was close to coming back.
- 40:48Speaker 1: It's it's like, you know how you need each step
- 40:49Speaker 1: of the progression. It's not firing in whatever step he's at, so.
- 40:53Speaker 2: They I know, but hinchlind that he hit a certain
- 40:56Speaker 2: mile prower they were looking for, and they were like, Okay,
- 40:57Speaker 2: it's still in there. He's coming back, and and I
- 41:00Speaker 2: guess he's sixty sixty day.
- 41:03Speaker 3: I l what's that? I think I saw it the
- 41:05Speaker 3: other day. It's like May twenty seventh maybe, so it's
- 41:09Speaker 3: not it's not that far away.
- 41:16Speaker 1: Yeah, and then Reagan's real quick too. Elbow impingement. We
- 41:20Speaker 1: had talked about him last week and the Royals mentioned
- 41:23Speaker 1: that he might not need an il stint, but he does.
- 41:26Speaker 1: He's had trouble his whole career staying healthy. That was
- 41:28Speaker 1: his thing when the Rangers traded him away. He hadn't
- 41:30Speaker 1: pitched much with the Rangers. But when he's healthy, he's
- 41:34Speaker 1: fantastic and can start playoff games for you. It's got
- 41:38Speaker 1: a marriage. Who did they get world as Chapman, Oh,
- 41:45Speaker 1: right word Chaman Yep, that is a great trade for
- 41:48Speaker 1: both sides. Trade. Turner said, that's how dumb this game is.
- 41:52Speaker 1: It makes no sense. He said he probably took a
- 41:54Speaker 1: thousand swings over four days, including three fifty on Friday
- 41:58Speaker 1: when oh for six Friday extended the hitless streak to
- 42:00Speaker 1: eleven at bats, took zero swings before Saturday's game four
- 42:05Speaker 1: for five. Don't swing too much? Kids? Is that the lesson?
- 42:10Speaker 2: So there's a thing that's swinging too much. I've always
- 42:12Speaker 2: said it. There's sometimes and you talk to hitting coaches,
- 42:15Speaker 2: they will tell you these guys take so many swings
- 42:18Speaker 2: they put themselves into a slump. I think it was
- 42:21Speaker 2: either Carlos Lee or Magley or DONI is used to
- 42:23Speaker 2: always have a thing where they would say, if you're
- 42:27Speaker 2: swinging good, hit less, if you're swinging or no, if
- 42:32Speaker 2: you're swinging bad, hit less. If you're swinging good, hit more,
- 42:34Speaker 2: because if you're swinging bad, you don't want to re
- 42:38Speaker 2: establish bad habits. If you're feeling good, okay, let's take
- 42:41Speaker 2: a couple more because I feel good and I want
- 42:43Speaker 2: to ingrain that in my brain, in that feel. But
- 42:45Speaker 2: then there's also people that go the other way because
- 42:47Speaker 2: they swing, they feel good, they talk themselves into a slump.
- 42:50Speaker 2: So find a routine and be consistent and do the
- 42:53Speaker 2: same thing. That tell people that all the time. You
- 42:55Speaker 2: got to figure out what works for you. If it's
- 42:56Speaker 2: twenty five swings a day, if it's two hundred swings
- 42:59Speaker 2: a day, which is why too many, by the way,
- 43:00Speaker 2: don't do that. But just be consistent and do the
- 43:03Speaker 2: same thing, because if you're good, you'll figure it out
- 43:05Speaker 2: at some point. I'm a big believer in.
- 43:06Speaker 1: That Trey took three point fifty. Did you're gonna hurt
- 43:10Speaker 1: your oblique?
- 43:14Speaker 3: I hope not.
- 43:17Speaker 1: Isn't that how the guys get the oblique injuries when
- 43:19Speaker 1: they take a thousand swings in a weekend.
- 43:21Speaker 3: Not necessarily. It's usually something tighter hip or something like that.
- 43:26Speaker 3: It's not excess swings. I mean, that's what they talk about.
- 43:29Speaker 3: Mike Trout. Mike Trout's probably one of the best players
- 43:32Speaker 3: of our generation here and they were like, you can't
- 43:34Speaker 3: date because he'll take one thousand swings to back.
- 43:39Speaker 1: Did you see this posting from the Red Sox about
- 43:42Speaker 1: the medical staff job that they had it? Yeah, so
- 43:47Speaker 1: it says like the medical staff the Red Sox provide
- 43:49Speaker 1: the highest quality of care to our players to maximize
- 43:52Speaker 1: blah blah blah blah blah. They're hiring a minor league
- 43:55Speaker 1: seasonal assistant athletic trainer for the remainder of the season.
- 43:58Speaker 1: The position located in Woosted, Massachusetts, the option of Fort
- 44:01Speaker 1: Myers after the draft, and the hourly rate is fifteen dollars.
- 44:08Speaker 1: So you have some type of training, medical type background,
- 44:12Speaker 1: you're taking care of players that you invest millions and
- 44:14Speaker 1: dollars millions of dollars in the organization. I just didn't
- 44:17Speaker 1: know that that's a fifteen buck an hour job.
- 44:22Speaker 2: I thought they got paid more than that. But it
- 44:24Speaker 2: is assistant athletic trainer. Sure, I think they're just kind
- 44:27Speaker 2: of well, I was going to say they were kind
- 44:30Speaker 2: of hoping for maybe somebody ran out of college. I
- 44:32Speaker 2: was just looking for their first job. Maybe that's what
- 44:34Speaker 2: they're looking for.
- 44:35Speaker 1: But still, but like you're you're dealing with some players,
- 44:38Speaker 1: and well.
- 44:38Speaker 2: If you're going to Worcester, that's TRIPAA. Those are players
- 44:42Speaker 2: that and if they're going to four Myers that's usually
- 44:45Speaker 2: until November. That means instructional league, which usually means that's
- 44:47Speaker 2: their prospects.
- 44:48Speaker 1: So My point is, if someone's got an issue, you've
- 44:51Speaker 1: got a lot of responsibility in your hands.
- 44:54Speaker 2: Let's sign up for it. Maybe we'll get it. Got
- 44:56Speaker 2: a shock, you can get the inside scoop on what's
- 44:58Speaker 2: going on in that organization. Yeah.
- 45:00Speaker 1: Well, also we could see, like what's the background for that.
- 45:02Speaker 1: I mean, it's not like you did ten years of
- 45:04Speaker 1: school and then you pop out to do that job.
- 45:06Speaker 2: That's something you never know.
- 45:07Speaker 1: So maybe we do have a shot and we can
- 45:09Speaker 1: hang out in Fort.
- 45:10Speaker 2: Myers and you won't text me back.
- 45:12Speaker 1: But I know him, so maybe you apply and then
- 45:14Speaker 1: that's how you get his attention. He's like, is this
- 45:16Speaker 1: the Pierson key that played twenty years the show?
- 45:19Speaker 2: Because I'll see him and he's super nice, But then
- 45:22Speaker 2: I'll text him like happy birthday and he doesn't respond.
- 45:25Speaker 1: Wow, I don't.
- 45:26Speaker 2: Know, it's weird. I like Craig. I really like Craig too.
- 45:28Speaker 2: When I played with him, I really did like him.
- 45:30Speaker 1: He's a different man these days, and he's also feeling
- 45:33Speaker 1: the heat, you know what. It could be a little
- 45:36Speaker 1: bit of what is it like shallow how you go
- 45:38Speaker 1: to the Red Sox and then eventually you move on
- 45:40Speaker 1: like him Bloom and now you're running a team that's
- 45:42Speaker 1: supposed to be in a rebuild and they are in
- 45:44Speaker 1: contention at the moment. Maybe some of the former Red
- 45:48Speaker 1: Sox managers and gms are living a good life at
- 45:52Speaker 1: the moment. Charrington, better now, I mean it was rough
- 45:55Speaker 1: for a while, but better now.
- 45:57Speaker 2: I'm there's some others feels.
- 46:00Speaker 1: Back right, there's back there. I think we'll just talking
- 46:16Speaker 1: about the Cubs for forty five seconds. They're hot, two
- 46:19Speaker 1: ten game winning streaks by the forty game mark. Now
- 46:22Speaker 1: they're at forty one games. But that's tough to.
- 46:25Speaker 2: Do, playing unbelievably well at home. That stupid song they
- 46:28Speaker 2: play all the time. But they're playing well. But they're
- 46:31Speaker 2: going to get their come up and just one the
- 46:33Speaker 2: weekend when they have to play the Mighty White Sox.
- 46:34Speaker 1: When is that this weekend? This weekend?
- 46:37Speaker 2: Rivalry Weekend's got rivalry weekend.
- 46:40Speaker 1: It's better. I mean, the Cubs are soaring and the
- 46:42Speaker 1: White Sox are better than they been the last watch.
- 46:45Speaker 1: It'll be a much more fun series.
- 46:47Speaker 2: Murakami, Oh, he's gonna hit like four homers this weekend.
- 46:51Speaker 1: Or he's just going to hit a home run in
- 46:52Speaker 1: the first game of every series that we know that.
- 46:57Speaker 1: We played a clip during one of the breaks for
- 47:00Speaker 1: the YouTube audience with Brewer Territory, JP, Fire Eyesen and
- 47:03Speaker 1: Corey Knabel. We're talking to Kurt Hoague about the miss.
- 47:06Speaker 1: That was impressive. He was dialing it up adrenaline wise
- 47:10Speaker 1: against the Yankees on Friday and they swept him.
- 47:13Speaker 2: Big weekend for the Brewers. Pitching wise, got Terang at
- 47:16Speaker 2: the walk off Homer Mother's Day? Pretty cool.
- 47:19Speaker 1: Did you hear what Judge said about Terang? He said
- 47:21Speaker 1: in VP hit he can hit the ball further than
- 47:24Speaker 1: him and he wishes he had him on his team.
- 47:26Speaker 2: Wow? Is that is that tampering?
- 47:29Speaker 1: It kind of is right.
- 47:30Speaker 2: I don't know, I don't think so. Yeah, miss miss.
- 47:33Speaker 2: The funny part is the hardest pitch miss through got hit.
- 47:37Speaker 1: The lineup. Yeah, Yeah, that's true.
- 47:41Speaker 2: Judge George was like, okay, watch this suckers.
- 47:46Speaker 1: Yeah, facing the big boys or when he really dialed
- 47:49Speaker 1: it up in the first inning. The first inning was
- 47:53Speaker 1: out of control. It's like it was like watching Mason Miller.
- 47:57Speaker 1: Obviously they're very differently the pitchers, but that's Mason or
- 48:00Speaker 1: velocity in the first inning.
- 48:01Speaker 2: From the starter and he was throwing strikes too.
- 48:04Speaker 1: And he was throwing strikes. Yeah, that's the thing. I mean,
- 48:07Speaker 1: this is his first he's.
- 48:08Speaker 2: Becoming almost I don't want to say he's becoming much
- 48:10Speaker 2: watch TV, but it's becoming fun to watch in the
- 48:12Speaker 2: because either he throws it really hard or something crazy happens.
- 48:17Speaker 2: You never know what's going to happen.
- 48:18Speaker 1: And he you know how, there's certain guys fun to watch,
- 48:20Speaker 1: like Imanaga just has so many antics and facial expressions.
- 48:24Speaker 1: Miss has that too, more of like the little kid vibe.
- 48:27Speaker 1: People say he's like a Pokemon nerd or something like that,
- 48:30Speaker 1: and you you feel that when he's out there. You know,
- 48:33Speaker 1: he's just a big dude and having fun with it
- 48:36Speaker 1: a little bit. I don't want to say naive, but
- 48:38Speaker 1: just like new. You know, he's he looks new, but
- 48:41Speaker 1: he's like, oh, I have a secret weapon and nobody else. Yeah,
- 48:46Speaker 1: So it was a fun watch. That series was a
- 48:48Speaker 1: fun watch. Contrera said the walkoffs acply. They had two
- 48:51Speaker 1: walk offs the next couple of days.
- 48:54Speaker 2: Right, yeah, and the during Homer yesterday.
- 48:57Speaker 1: That's the thing is sometimes we evaluate teams too quick,
- 49:00Speaker 1: like Turio was out for most of the year. Now
- 49:02Speaker 1: he's back. This is his first week. Just now that
- 49:04Speaker 1: passed that he's back. Vond was huge for them last year.
- 49:07Speaker 1: He's back. So the Yankees aren't in first place anymore.
- 49:12Speaker 1: Raise the Rays of one, fourteen of sixteen.
- 49:15Speaker 2: Raised look good. Their pitching looks good.
- 49:18Speaker 1: They look good, and their offense looks better.
- 49:20Speaker 2: They just kid. They got a lot of guys and
- 49:21Speaker 2: just get big hits. They know the Rays always have.
- 49:24Speaker 2: They know what guys are and they tell them to
- 49:26Speaker 2: excel at what they are.
- 49:28Speaker 1: They we talked about this on Friday. They're playing a
- 49:30Speaker 1: different brand. Their thing is to try and find market inefficiency.
- 49:33Speaker 1: So now all of a sudden, these guys make contact,
- 49:35Speaker 1: they bunt, and then you have your core stars right
- 49:38Speaker 1: like Camon Arrow and Ronda and Yondi. But then the
- 49:41Speaker 1: guys around them are they.
- 49:43Speaker 2: Have Chandler Simpson gets on. It's a triple right away. Yeah.
- 49:45Speaker 1: I love Chandler Simpson. I because the the league evaluated
- 49:50Speaker 1: him as not enough exit vel and then he's like,
- 49:53Speaker 1: kiss my ass this place. Yeah I root for that
- 49:57Speaker 1: type of player.
- 49:57Speaker 2: Still.
- 49:58Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, that's it. It's a good Monday. We
- 50:02Speaker 1: gave you everything you wanted, hopefully, and then we're back
- 50:05Speaker 1: on Tuesday.
