- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome in another day of the next round. Along with
- 0:02Speaker 1: Lance Taylor, I'm Ryan Brown. Dunaway in his green continues
- 0:06Speaker 1: his Irish vacation. He'll be back with us next week.
- 0:09Speaker 1: Got that hard rock bed helmet cocked sideways looking at
- 0:12Speaker 1: Lance all day. He will be back with us. I
- 0:15Speaker 1: was actually texting with him because I'm trying to get
- 0:16Speaker 1: his upset alert. And he's texting me like 10 different things.
- 0:20Speaker 1: And it's not his upset alert.
- 0:21Speaker 2: Okay.
- 0:23Speaker 3: Well, who's going to draw it?
- 0:25Speaker 2: Well, I was going to. We've got it.
- 0:27Speaker 1: Oh, you guys have. So he doesn't trust me.
- 0:30Speaker 2: Correct.
- 0:30Speaker 1: Okay, did somebody draw it, or did you do an
- 0:32Speaker 1: animation for it?
- 0:33Speaker 4: He's got something prepared.
- 0:35Speaker 2: He has a visual. Okay. Oh, we've got video. I
- 0:38Speaker 2: like this.
- 0:39Speaker 5: Don't get too excited.
- 0:42Speaker 4: I will just say it may be his best drawing ever.
- 0:45Speaker 2: Oh, Dunaway's best drawing ever. Okay. Are they drawing on
- 0:47Speaker 2: a cave wall over there?
- 0:49Speaker 1: We will have upset alert coming up a little bit
- 0:51Speaker 1: later on. You heard the voice of already Scott Forrester
- 0:54Speaker 1: and Brooks Carter. Tyler John's here as well. It's the
- 0:57Speaker 1: boys in the back room there keeping us where we're
- 0:59Speaker 1: supposed to be between the lines there. We've got a
- 1:02Speaker 1: lot to get to on the show today. A lot
- 1:04Speaker 1: of college football, some NFL. Brock Huard a little bit
- 1:07Speaker 1: with us in the second half of the show a
- 1:08Speaker 1: little bit later on. We'll talk college football and NFL
- 1:11Speaker 1: with him. As I mentioned, upset alert, as always, on Tuesdays.
- 1:16Speaker 1: And we'll get the standings and see who might have
- 1:18Speaker 1: had an outright winner in the Floyd of Rosedale game.
- 1:21Speaker 2: We'll see about that.
- 1:23Speaker 1: But first, we always try to start with what we
- 1:25Speaker 1: saw last night. There's two options here I'll let you pick.
- 1:28Speaker 1: Do you want to go with one of the worst
- 1:30Speaker 1: World Series in our lifetime?
- 1:32Speaker 2: Well, if you had the Brewers... minus the 101. I
- 1:34Speaker 2: did not.
- 1:35Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:35Speaker 1: Or do you want to go NFL's Monday Night Football?
- 1:38Speaker 2: Let's go World Series. All right, World Series. 10-1 last night. Well,
- 1:43Speaker 2: you know, there's a reason they had home field in
- 1:45Speaker 2: the NLCS. They went 103 games in the regular season.
- 1:47Speaker 2: They are 10-1 in the postseason, and they're just rocking.
- 1:50Speaker 2: I mean, you know, sweeping the Dodgers out, and now
- 1:54Speaker 2: on the brink of a sweep in the World Series,
- 1:55Speaker 2: they would become the first team to sweep the league
- 1:58Speaker 2: championship series and the World Series.
- 2:00Speaker 7: Can I guess?
- 2:02Speaker 2: When you said.
- 2:03Speaker 1: When we started this sentence, the first team that jumped
- 2:05Speaker 1: to mind.
- 2:07Speaker 2: And you.
- 2:07Speaker 3: Think about how difficult that is.
- 2:09Speaker 2: It is.
- 2:09Speaker 1: And I cannot remember if this.
- 2:11Speaker 2: I will tell you this.
- 2:12Speaker 3: I'll give you one hint.
- 2:14Speaker 2: The only team that has done it, or the last
- 2:16Speaker 2: team to do it, did it when the league championship
- 2:19Speaker 2: series was only five games. Oh, never mind.
- 2:21Speaker 1: This was going to be a seven-game league championship series.
- 2:23Speaker 1: I was going to go a long way back.
- 2:26Speaker 3: It's a long way back.
- 2:27Speaker 1: And I was going to guess, because I remember them
- 2:30Speaker 1: sweeping the World Series... I couldn't remember if they swept
- 2:33Speaker 1: the NLCS, though. I was going to go with the Reds.
- 2:37Speaker 3: It is the Reds.
- 2:38Speaker 2: Boom!
- 2:39Speaker 3: 1976, Big Red Machine. No, that's not the one I
- 2:41Speaker 3: was talking about. You were going 1990.
- 2:42Speaker 1: I was going 1990 when they swept out the A's.
- 2:45Speaker 3: They swept out the A's.
- 2:45Speaker 2: They did not sweep the Pirates and the NLCS.
- 2:48Speaker 1: I couldn't remember that part, yeah.
- 2:50Speaker 2: But look, to go 50 years, they were laying bricks
- 2:53Speaker 2: at Gillette's making their first yellow hammer the last time
- 2:55Speaker 2: this has happened.
- 2:56Speaker 5: Hey, by the way, the White Sox in 05 only
- 2:59Speaker 5: lost one game.
- 3:01Speaker 1: Postseason game how many series did y'all play was that
- 3:04Speaker 1: wow that was that was three so wild.
- 3:05Speaker 2: Card okay i mean there's a good chance that's gonna
- 3:08Speaker 2: be milwaukee here look in that fifth inning you're talking
- 3:10Speaker 2: about i can't even imagine being a race fan and
- 3:14Speaker 2: sitting there for 25 minutes how many race fans were
- 3:16Speaker 2: there uh like a brewer's home game a world series
- 3:20Speaker 2: record eight two out runs it's great that 25 minutes
- 3:23Speaker 2: yeah it had to be tough to watch yeah i
- 3:25Speaker 2: loved it again because i had the brewers and Um, yeah,
- 3:28Speaker 2: this thing's over. We know teams don't come back from
- 3:30Speaker 2: Oh three. We've seen it one time. Was that 2004?
- 3:32Speaker 1: Let's see. That's the problem when you're a casual like me.
- 3:36Speaker 1: So I watched some of that game last night when
- 3:38Speaker 1: it got four, nothing, I turned it off.
- 3:39Speaker 2: I'm like, this thing is over.
- 3:41Speaker 1: And I went back to Monday night football, which at
- 3:42Speaker 1: the time was a one point game.
- 3:44Speaker 2: And then it was over.
- 3:47Speaker 1: Um, But that's the problem with being a casual like me.
- 3:49Speaker 1: Why invest any time in any of these games? Now,
- 3:53Speaker 1: moving forward, I invested some time last night. Now, if
- 3:56Speaker 1: you're a baseball fan, you're like, this is my last
- 3:58Speaker 1: chance to watch baseball. I don't care how bad it's
- 4:00Speaker 1: going to be. I'm going to watch everything I can watch.
- 4:01Speaker 3: Yeah, I got to be honest.
- 4:02Speaker 2: I don't know a ton of diehard baseball fans. I
- 4:05Speaker 2: think Forrester is one of those guys. I think there
- 4:06Speaker 2: are some people because of the nostalgia that is the
- 4:08Speaker 2: World Series.
- 4:09Speaker 1: Well, some are just diehard team fans. Like they're a
- 4:11Speaker 1: diehard Braves fan.
- 4:12Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, yeah. But just a baseball fan.
- 4:15Speaker 3: And I've been blown away.
- 4:18Speaker 2: I was in Nashville over the weekend for a minute,
- 4:22Speaker 2: and I was just randomly– the table next to me
- 4:25Speaker 2: was nothing but freaking Wisconsin fans.
- 4:27Speaker 1: Dude, that was the same thing at Gatlinburg. How many
- 4:30Speaker 1: Brewers fans were in that random sports bar in Gatlinburg?
- 4:32Speaker 8: All of them.
- 4:32Speaker 3: It was crazy.
- 4:33Speaker 2: It was like 20 people in there. And then he
- 4:34Speaker 2: was talking about, I've got a future on the– I
- 4:37Speaker 2: bought a future on the Brewers back in June. I
- 4:39Speaker 2: hate eavesdropping.
- 4:40Speaker 3: I don't know if you do this. But, like, I
- 4:42Speaker 3: try to avoid all these conversations.
- 4:44Speaker 1: I just don't like loud talkers.
- 4:45Speaker 2: But once I get sucked into one, it's a little
- 4:47Speaker 2: bit interesting.
- 4:48Speaker 1: You kind of want to see how it turns out.
- 4:49Speaker 2: And if you're by yourself. So, like, at this particular point,
- 4:52Speaker 2: I was by myself. That's right. And so then I
- 4:54Speaker 2: get caught up in the conversation, and it's, you know, hey,
- 4:56Speaker 2: I've got Wisconsin coming up against USC, and I'm hearing
- 4:59Speaker 2: all this stuff. And it's all Brewers fans. But, anyway, very,
- 5:03Speaker 2: very good team this thing's on.
- 5:05Speaker 1: Brooks used to live up there. Brooks, is Milwaukee a
- 5:08Speaker 1: Brewers town? I always thought it was a Packers town.
- 5:11Speaker 9: It is, I would say, of the two franchises located
- 5:16Speaker 9: in the city of Milwaukee between the Brewers and the Bucs.
- 5:19Speaker 2: It is certainly a Brewers town.
- 5:21Speaker 1: Oh, I didn't even include the Bucs. I forgot about that.
- 5:23Speaker 4: Which they won an NBA title.
- 5:25Speaker 2: I know, I know.
- 5:26Speaker 1: I didn't even include them. I just assumed it was
- 5:27Speaker 1: either Brewers or Packers.
- 5:28Speaker 2: No, I think that is a very, Brooks, and you
- 5:29Speaker 2: correct me if I'm wrong, I mean, they're very loyal
- 5:31Speaker 2: to all their teams. So it's just kind of a
- 5:33Speaker 2: seasonal thing. But they're all in at Miller Park. Well done.
- 5:36Speaker 2: It's not Miller Park.
- 5:38Speaker 4: American Family Park.
- 5:39Speaker 3: I call it Miller Park.
- 5:40Speaker 2: It's still Miller Park. Well, I mean, it's literally across
- 5:42Speaker 2: the interstate from the Miller Valley. But what's bigger in Milwaukee,
- 5:47Speaker 2: Brewers or Packers?
- 5:50Speaker 9: Honestly, I mean, it's a lot closer than you would think.
- 5:52Speaker 4: I mean, football is king up there.
- 5:54Speaker 9: It did feel like a little bit of a slice
- 5:56Speaker 9: of the south living up there from the football. The
- 5:58Speaker 9: way that people are about the SEC and college football
- 6:02Speaker 9: down here, they're that way about the Packers. I would
- 6:05Speaker 9: say it's probably Packers, Brewers, Badgers.
- 6:07Speaker 4: When it comes to making order in Wisconsin. But I
- 6:11Speaker 4: will say this.
- 6:13Speaker 9: Any opportunity they can have to gather and drink, drink
- 6:16Speaker 9: a beer. The tailgating scene at their, at, at their
- 6:19Speaker 9: baseball stadium is unlike anything I've seen anywhere in, in
- 6:23Speaker 9: the MLB. They, they have no desire to rebuild a stadium.
- 6:28Speaker 9: They want to keep it where it's at, at its
- 6:29Speaker 9: current location. It is massive parking lots. Like it is
- 6:33Speaker 9: like an NFL setup, how there's parking lots just flanking
- 6:36Speaker 9: the entire stadium.
- 6:38Speaker 2: And that's, I mean, you pay, I think, $ 15, $ 20.
- 6:42Speaker 9: To park, and there'll be people there all season tailgating.
- 6:45Speaker 1: Yeah, that's crazy how many Brewers fans are out there.
- 6:48Speaker 2: I didn't know that.
- 6:49Speaker 1: But, man, that crowd last night. When I turned it on,
- 6:52Speaker 1: the Brewers, that was the inning where they scored, although
- 6:54Speaker 1: I didn't even watch the whole inning. But just every
- 6:57Speaker 1: hit they got, it sounded like they were in American
- 7:00Speaker 1: Family Miller Stadium Park in Milwaukee.
- 7:03Speaker 2: I mean, it was... I think it was called AmFam. AmFam,
- 7:06Speaker 2: thank you.
- 7:06Speaker 1: It was crazy at AmFam.
- 7:07Speaker 2: But you go back and you look at the history
- 7:09Speaker 2: of the Brewers, and they haven't been in this spot
- 7:11Speaker 2: since 1982 where they end up losing that World Series
- 7:13Speaker 2: to the Cardinals. But it's such a proud fan base.
- 7:16Speaker 2: They've had a lot of success that gets overshadowed because...
- 7:20Speaker 2: of what the Dodgers have done in the National League.
- 7:22Speaker 2: This has been a really good organization, especially market size. So,
- 7:25Speaker 2: I mean, this is exciting for the Brewers fans that
- 7:28Speaker 2: they're finally going to get to have a championship after
- 7:30Speaker 2: all of these years of pulling for their team and
- 7:33Speaker 2: going through guys like Robin Yount and Paul Molitor. Paul Molitor.
- 7:36Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, they've had some great players.
- 7:38Speaker 1: When would Game 7 be?
- 7:40Speaker 2: Game 7, I think, is tomorrow night. No, not what
- 7:44Speaker 2: I say. We just got game four, didn't we? Yeah, no.
- 7:46Speaker 2: Or game three. Well, it may as well be game
- 7:48Speaker 2: seven tomorrow.
- 7:49Speaker 3: Yeah, that's what I'm saying. I guess Sunday?
- 7:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:53Speaker 1: I guess I've watched my last baseball game of the year.
- 7:54Speaker 1: Because the only thing that was going to bring me
- 7:56Speaker 1: back in was a game seven. But if game seven's
- 7:59Speaker 1: against NFL, there's zero chance I'm going to watch a
- 8:02Speaker 1: game seven.
- 8:04Speaker 2: I mean, even.
- 8:05Speaker 1: Would you watch a Game 7 of Major League Baseball
- 8:07Speaker 1: over a regular season NFL game? I've got to see
- 8:10Speaker 1: who the Sunday.
- 8:10Speaker 2: Night game is. Well, you've got to tell me. Game 7,
- 8:13Speaker 2: if that would have been last night as opposed to
- 8:15Speaker 2: Tanner McKee.
- 8:16Speaker 3: You know, trying.
- 8:17Speaker 2: To upset the Cowboys. I probably would have watched Game 7.
- 8:21Speaker 2: But I don't have to worry about that, and you
- 8:23Speaker 2: don't either. Like, we live in a world now where you.
- 8:25Speaker 1: Have multiple TVs. I know, but one's going to get
- 8:27Speaker 1: my focus.
- 8:28Speaker 5: Hey, Game 7 would actually be Saturday.
- 8:31Speaker 2: Oh, well, there's zero chance then. No, that's going to
- 8:33Speaker 2: be tough. So it's going to pit head-to-head with Ohio
- 8:37Speaker 2: State and SC. Yeah, or any college football game.
- 8:41Speaker 3: Yeah, what are nighttime window games?
- 8:43Speaker 1: Well, Brooks was very kind to do the Dunaway schedule
- 8:46Speaker 1: for us.
- 8:46Speaker 2: Dunaway does that for us each week.
- 8:47Speaker 3: I mean, it's not as clear, but I appreciate it.
- 8:49Speaker 1: It's a little jumbled together, but I'm going.
- 8:50Speaker 2: To fight through. I'm going to get my Dunaway comment there, Brooks.
- 8:52Speaker 2: It was a nice try, not as clear. You almost
- 8:55Speaker 2: did it.
- 8:56Speaker 4: Well, I mean, if we had a colored printer up here,
- 8:58Speaker 4: don't blame me for that.
- 8:58Speaker 2: Well, the spacing, too. That's the other thing. Budget.
- 9:01Speaker 1: All the games are run together. We do have a
- 9:03Speaker 1: color printer. Tyler, we can print in color.
- 9:06Speaker 10: I don't know.
- 9:07Speaker 2: Can we? I don't think so. Oh, 100%.
- 9:08Speaker 1: That thing's cut.
- 9:10Speaker 4: It is a colored printer. I don't know if there's
- 9:12Speaker 4: colored ink in it.
- 9:13Speaker 10: Oh, that's a good point.
- 9:14Speaker 2: I have made a copy. What did Brown have to
- 9:16Speaker 2: use it for his upset alert? He ran out of markers.
- 9:21Speaker 10: Now we're running out of cyan ink.
- 9:23Speaker 2: I know. Ink's a little more expensive than new markers.
- 9:26Speaker 1: No, I have never printed anything on that printer right there.
- 9:28Speaker 1: Not one time. And we have been here since 2021.
- 9:31Speaker 2: 2021.
- 9:32Speaker 7: Well, that's because for some reason my computer is the
- 9:34Speaker 7: only one that connects to it. So if anybody wants
- 9:36Speaker 7: to print something, they've got to ask me.
- 9:38Speaker 1: If I need something printed, I just send it to
- 9:39Speaker 1: Tyler and ask him to print it for me. But
- 9:41Speaker 1: rarely do I even do that.
- 9:42Speaker 2: I don't need anything printed.
- 9:43Speaker 4: Because it is color-coded the way that Jim does it.
- 9:46Speaker 1: But I have made copies on that printer that are
- 9:49Speaker 1: in color. So it can do color, just for the record.
- 9:53Speaker 1: I don't know why I'm so passionate about it, but
- 9:56Speaker 1: it can do color. Well, I emailed you in my defense.
- 10:00Speaker 2: Lance.
- 10:00Speaker 9: I emailed you both the copy of this for you
- 10:03Speaker 9: to go independently print.
- 10:04Speaker 1: I figured I would just fight through rather than go
- 10:07Speaker 1: to the effort.
- 10:07Speaker 2: Hey, look, I told you I appreciate it. It's just
- 10:11Speaker 2: a little botched, right? It is.
- 10:14Speaker 1: So we've got, let's see, in primetime, Lance, you've got
- 10:16Speaker 1: Oklahoma State and Iowa State.
- 10:18Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 10:18Speaker 1: Clemson at Florida State. Boy, how far has that game fallen?
- 10:22Speaker 1: That used to be the biggest game in the ACC
- 10:23Speaker 1: every year.
- 10:24Speaker 3: It was an incredible matchup.
- 10:26Speaker 2: Boy, that one has fallen. I do think Mississippi State
- 10:28Speaker 2: at Texas, if Camario would have been healthy this whole time,
- 10:32Speaker 2: they'd be in a different spot.
- 10:33Speaker 1: Miami at North Carolina. We talked last week about, you know.
- 10:37Speaker 1: Trap game for Miami because they've got Notre Dame next.
- 10:40Speaker 1: And North Carolina's played improved football. And North Carolina goes
- 10:43Speaker 1: out and shows they're not entirely improved because they lose
- 10:46Speaker 1: to Syracuse. But, and more on the upset alert coming up,
- 10:50Speaker 1: that's the way college football has gone this year. You
- 10:52Speaker 1: play like crap one week and you play great the next.
- 10:54Speaker 1: I've got a weird feeling about that game. I just
- 10:56Speaker 1: didn't want to draw the Tar Heel. It is complicated.
- 10:59Speaker 1: I've tried it before. Ohio State at USC, as you mentioned.
- 11:01Speaker 1: That's the NBC game. Missouri at Arkansas. Washington at Nebraska.
- 11:07Speaker 1: That's not a great prime time. Is UCLA off this week?
- 11:11Speaker 2: I don't know. They're not. They play Nevada. So, yeah. Oh, yeah.
- 11:13Speaker 2: They're at a conference. Yeah.
- 11:15Speaker 1: Got a bye week there. So that's your prime time schedule.
- 11:18Speaker 1: So I don't you know, again, if there was a
- 11:20Speaker 1: game seven, I might have it on a side TV.
- 11:23Speaker 1: But I'm always going to I'm a football fan, man.
- 11:25Speaker 1: I'm going to go football over baseball. So congrats to
- 11:27Speaker 1: the Brewers being one step away. And they will lock
- 11:30Speaker 1: that thing down sometime this week. We will go to
- 11:32Speaker 1: Monday Night Football after I tell you about Hard Rock Bet.
- 11:34Speaker 1: That's who brings you the show. Hard Rock Bet. We
- 11:36Speaker 1: want to encourage you to go to hardrock.bet backslash clay
- 11:39Speaker 1: where you can bet $ 5. and get up to $ 500
- 11:42Speaker 1: and no sweat bets when you go to hardrock.bet backslash clay,
- 11:47Speaker 1: hardrock.bet backslash clay. You may know the Hard Rock name.
- 11:51Speaker 1: You may not know about Hard Rock Bet, the sportsbook app. Well,
- 11:54Speaker 1: Hard Rock Bet is Florida's only legal sportsbook. It is
- 11:57Speaker 1: therefore the most trustworthy option in the market. They are
- 12:00Speaker 1: also available in Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, New Jersey, Ohio, Tennessee,
- 12:04Speaker 1: and Virginia. So if you're listening or watching in any
- 12:07Speaker 1: of those states, go right now and download the Hard
- 12:09Speaker 1: Rock Bet app. And all day, or all week long,
- 12:14Speaker 1: they've got specials for you. The next one coming up
- 12:15Speaker 1: is Thursday, where they've got the same game parlay profit
- 12:18Speaker 1: boost for the Thursday night games and football. So you
- 12:21Speaker 1: can do that. They've got the Friday happy hour. They've
- 12:24Speaker 1: got some deals Saturday and Sunday. We'll talk about those
- 12:26Speaker 1: as the week goes on. But right now, bet $ 5
- 12:28Speaker 1: to get up to $ 500 in no-sweat bets when you
- 12:31Speaker 1: go to hardrock.bet backslash clay and sign up. hardrock.bet backslash clay.
- 12:36Speaker 1: All right, Monday Night Football. You know, it's just so
- 12:38Speaker 1: odd we get an NFC East game on television, so
- 12:41Speaker 1: it's really good to catch.
- 12:42Speaker 2: Up on that division. Yeah, never get that, right?
- 12:43Speaker 1: We never get those in primetime. You're never foisted. America
- 12:47Speaker 1: has never had an NFC East game foisted on them.
- 12:49Speaker 1: We get them in primetime all the time. And this
- 12:51Speaker 1: was a crap NFC East game. The Eagles are a
- 12:54Speaker 1: shell of themselves. They are what I tried to describe
- 12:59Speaker 1: Alabama as being. Now, they're without their quarterback, and Alabama's
- 13:04Speaker 1: at least got their quarterback, so that's the big difference.
- 13:06Speaker 1: But my point in what I brought up about Alabama yesterday,
- 13:09Speaker 1: it's very NFL-like, Lance, when you've got Saquon Barkley out,
- 13:12Speaker 1: you've got a key receiver out, you've got some linemen out.
- 13:15Speaker 1: You just don't win in the NFL. I mean, it's
- 13:17Speaker 1: almost impossible to win those games in the NFL. And
- 13:20Speaker 1: then when you remove quarterback... You're really screwed.
- 13:22Speaker 2: It's just strange how this roster went from the best
- 13:25Speaker 2: roster in the NFL, and a lot of people believe
- 13:27Speaker 2: that going into last season. In 2025, to a team
- 13:30Speaker 2: now that has lost five consecutive games in what is
- 13:34Speaker 2: maybe one of the easiest divisions to win in the
- 13:38Speaker 2: history of the NFL, and that's what this is shaping
- 13:40Speaker 2: up like, Philadelphia's not even competitive. I mean, you know...
- 13:44Speaker 2: Good news for Christian Parker in this 30th-ranked scoring defense
- 13:48Speaker 2: for the Dallas Cowboys is they got this banged-up Philadelphia squad,
- 13:51Speaker 2: but they still gave up 21. That's a play we
- 13:53Speaker 2: had last night at Lance's Lock. We had the over 43.5.
- 13:56Speaker 2: It easily flies over the total. Wait a minute. What
- 14:00Speaker 2: was the total last night?
- 14:01Speaker 9: 43.5.
- 14:01Speaker 2: Okay, go ahead. I don't know what you build out
- 14:05Speaker 2: of this. I guess if you're the Cowboys, much like
- 14:07Speaker 2: you said the other day with an Alabama win, it's
- 14:09Speaker 2: a win. You win by 17 on the road. I
- 14:12Speaker 2: don't know what they learned about themselves at all.
- 14:14Speaker 1: Well, you heard Troy, and I don't know if you
- 14:15Speaker 1: stuck around, but Scott Van Pelt after the game asked Troy,
- 14:19Speaker 1: you know, Does this show anything about the Cowboys?
- 14:23Speaker 2: I really don't think so.
- 14:25Speaker 1: They went and they beat a banged-up team on the road,
- 14:27Speaker 1: a team they.
- 14:28Speaker 2: Should have won. Now, Dak was efficient, 15-27, three touchdowns,
- 14:31Speaker 2: didn't turn it over. C.D. Lamb was very much involved
- 14:34Speaker 2: in the game plan. Defense can maybe build on this.
- 14:37Speaker 2: I thought the most important thing was Dallas running the football,
- 14:40Speaker 2: Javante Williams, 155 yards, putting them in really manageable third-down situations.
- 14:46Speaker 2: The reason they were 8-13, 416 total yards is and
- 14:49Speaker 2: zero turnover. So there are things that you can build. Obviously,
- 14:52Speaker 2: coming out of the game with a win is big,
- 14:54Speaker 2: but this Philadelphia team is spinning into.
- 14:57Speaker 1: Yeah, they're done. SiriusXM has added some big market sports
- 15:02Speaker 1: radio stations. And oddly, I don't really listen to sports radio.
- 15:07Speaker 1: And I know working in the industry of sports like this,
- 15:10Speaker 1: you would think I would listen to sports radio. I've
- 15:12Speaker 1: just never really listened to it. We've always done our show.
- 15:15Speaker 1: There are some things I would listen to, but just
- 15:17Speaker 1: like Sports radio, it's just never been something I listen to.
- 15:19Speaker 2: It's not my thing. You're like the train wreck of
- 15:21Speaker 2: sports radio now because you turned me on to the
- 15:24Speaker 2: Philadelphia station. Yeah. And once I got on there, I
- 15:28Speaker 2: was there for two days, and I finally had to
- 15:29Speaker 2: get off because it is so negative.
- 15:31Speaker 3: It's hilarious.
- 15:32Speaker 2: I know. So back in the days, like in the
- 15:34Speaker 2: mid-' 90s when Jerry Springer first came out, it was Jerry,
- 15:38Speaker 2: and they were all fighting. I mean, it was if
- 15:40Speaker 2: you had it on, you kind of got captivated for
- 15:43Speaker 2: a little bit. That's right. You know, like... I love Paul.
- 15:47Speaker 1: Paul was a co-worker of ours for a good decade.
- 15:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:50Speaker 1: And Paul is a personal friend of ours. Every time
- 15:52Speaker 1: we see him, it's good to catch up with him.
- 15:54Speaker 1: I love Paul. I've got nothing against Paul Feinbaum. I
- 15:57Speaker 1: don't know how Paul does what he does for a living,
- 16:00Speaker 1: and I have zero interest in listening to Legend or
- 16:04Speaker 1: Phyllis or those people over the years just calling me out.
- 16:07Speaker 1: It just doesn't do it for me, man. That's not
- 16:08Speaker 1: my thing. And there are people that are entertained by it,
- 16:10Speaker 1: and that's great. Some people don't like the stuff I
- 16:12Speaker 1: watch or listen to. It's just sports radio is not
- 16:15Speaker 1: my thing. But when Sirius XM added these big city stations,
- 16:22Speaker 1: it is interesting for me after a big loss to
- 16:24Speaker 1: listen to how their city reacts to it. And I
- 16:26Speaker 1: could not get on the fan quick enough Monday morning
- 16:28Speaker 1: when I got in the car. because my Dolphins had
- 16:31Speaker 1: beat the Jets, and I just wanted to hear what
- 16:32Speaker 1: the Jets fans were saying.
- 16:33Speaker 3: And it did not disappoint. Philadelphia today.
- 16:35Speaker 1: This morning I did, after Philadelphia lost. I'm like, I've
- 16:38Speaker 1: got to hear what they're saying.
- 16:38Speaker 2: Yeah, but I would assume they're just like, hey, look,
- 16:40Speaker 2: let's gut this entire thing. Sirianni needs to be out.
- 16:43Speaker 2: Let's start from scratch. We even need to maybe reset
- 16:46Speaker 2: at quarterback.
- 16:47Speaker 3: Have we said that?
- 16:48Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. I mean, it was a lot of that.
- 16:52Speaker 1: They're more loyal to Sirianni than you might think.
- 16:55Speaker 2: Well, I mean, back to the matter, I don't like him.
- 16:57Speaker 2: He's not a likable guy unless he's your guy. But
- 16:59Speaker 2: when you look at the numbers, Sirianni has done just
- 17:03Speaker 2: about everything you can do. There's weird spots where they
- 17:07Speaker 2: lost seven in a row a couple of years ago
- 17:09Speaker 2: and where they are right now.
- 17:10Speaker 3: But I mean, this is easy to describe. You got injuries.
- 17:12Speaker 2: I know a lot of teams are banged up, but
- 17:15Speaker 2: they can't be competitive with what they've lost. I mean,
- 17:17Speaker 2: Saquon just came back. He was a factor. You're missing
- 17:20Speaker 2: your quarterback. You're missing Devontae Smith. You're missing two pieces
- 17:23Speaker 2: on that offensive line. It's just a lot of stuff
- 17:25Speaker 2: going on with the Eagles.
- 17:25Speaker 1: Yeah, and that's what I heard today. And here's what
- 17:29Speaker 1: I heard is, and I had not thought of it
- 17:31Speaker 1: in these terms, But they were interviewing some guy up
- 17:34Speaker 1: there that must be like that people really pay attention to.
- 17:36Speaker 2: I never got his name.
- 17:37Speaker 1: They didn't reset the dude, so I didn't know who
- 17:39Speaker 1: they were talking to. But he apparently is like an expert.
- 17:42Speaker 1: They have him to talk about the Eagles, right?
- 17:43Speaker 2: And he made this point.
- 17:45Speaker 1: And it's interesting to think about really across the board.
- 17:48Speaker 1: I mean, you're dealing with it with your Rams. Some
- 17:51Speaker 1: Alabama fans think they're dealing with it. You know, there'll
- 17:54Speaker 1: be a time where Ohio State fans or Georgia fans
- 17:56Speaker 1: feel like they're dealing with this. Indiana fans at some
- 18:00Speaker 1: point will feel like they're dealing with this because everybody
- 18:02Speaker 1: has dealt with this at some point. The point they
- 18:04Speaker 1: made was like, man, 20 months ago, we were on
- 18:07Speaker 1: top of the football world. We had gone 16-1 in
- 18:11Speaker 1: our last 17 games. We had destroyed Kansas City in
- 18:16Speaker 1: the Super Bowl. And we had that entire roster basically back.
- 18:20Speaker 1: What has happened.
- 18:21Speaker 2: In 20 months?
- 18:22Speaker 1: Because they were saying what you're talking about, like it's
- 18:24Speaker 1: rebuild time. And it really is. And their point was like, man,
- 18:28Speaker 1: that 20 months flew by. And here we are on
- 18:31Speaker 1: the other side of it. How did that go by
- 18:32Speaker 1: so fast?
- 18:33Speaker 2: Look, I mean, things in life, I mean, you can
- 18:34Speaker 2: flip a complete life in 20 relationships. I mean, so
- 18:38Speaker 2: many different things change. But in sports, you've got to
- 18:41Speaker 2: appreciate the moment. I mean, you've got to do that
- 18:43Speaker 2: in all of life. It's a really good perspective to
- 18:46Speaker 2: have to live in the moment. But when you have
- 18:48Speaker 2: one of these teams that's cooking along, enjoy it. That's
- 18:51Speaker 2: why I guess the older, the more that we get
- 18:57Speaker 2: perspective on things. And I just knew sitting in Lumen
- 19:00Speaker 2: last year when the Rams lost that game, I was like,
- 19:02Speaker 2: as good as they might be next year, and that
- 19:04Speaker 2: was before Jalen Watson and Trent McDuffie and Miles Garrett
- 19:08Speaker 2: and all of these other pieces they added, I was like, man,
- 19:11Speaker 2: this might be it.
- 19:12Speaker 1: You just never know. And that's what the Philly fans
- 19:14Speaker 1: are talking about today. Like, man, 20 months ago, we
- 19:17Speaker 1: were on top of the football world. We were the
- 19:19Speaker 1: best franchise in the NFL. Our roster was stacked. We
- 19:22Speaker 1: had just won the Super Bowl. And we're not even
- 19:25Speaker 1: two years later, and they're talking about just stripping it
- 19:28Speaker 1: down and rebuilding.
- 19:29Speaker 2: Yeah, I really, I mean, this sounds, I mean, this
- 19:31Speaker 2: is kind of sad when you think about it, but
- 19:32Speaker 2: would you agree? Like, if you are competitive, let's just,
- 19:36Speaker 2: let's do a 20-year snapshot. All right. And in the NFL,
- 19:39Speaker 2: if you can win one Super Bowl in 20 years,
- 19:42Speaker 2: and of those 20 years, you go to the playoffs
- 19:45Speaker 2: 12 to 14 times, you only have like one rebuild
- 19:51Speaker 2: where you're having the single digit wins one or two seasons.
- 19:54Speaker 2: Like to me, that's a great 20 year snapshot. You
- 19:57Speaker 2: can only expect one championship. Yeah. Get to the playoffs
- 19:59Speaker 2: a little more than half the time.
- 20:00Speaker 1: But I am in the in the recent past, the
- 20:04Speaker 1: second teardown and rebuild of my franchise.
- 20:06Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 20:06Speaker 3: And that's what you don't want.
- 20:08Speaker 2: I know, but I mean. I've been, well, I mean,
- 20:11Speaker 2: I've seen three, but I've seen two over the last
- 20:13Speaker 2: 20 years.
- 20:13Speaker 1: Teardowns and rebuilds suck when you're a fan. Because, you know,
- 20:17Speaker 1: at the start of this season, this is the least
- 20:19Speaker 1: excited I have been for a Dolphins season in a
- 20:21Speaker 1: very long time.
- 20:21Speaker 2: You can understand why. Well, because most people predicted that
- 20:24Speaker 2: the Dolphins would be the worst team in the NFL.
- 20:25Speaker 1: And so far, they have not really disappointed. They're among
- 20:28Speaker 1: the worst teams. I'm not certain.
- 20:30Speaker 2: I don't know if you guys will have the number
- 20:31Speaker 2: one overall pick. I don't think we're going to, actually. Which,
- 20:34Speaker 2: by the way, Steam, I'm starting to hear a lot
- 20:36Speaker 2: of general managers like, you can't pass on the next
- 20:38Speaker 2: Julio Jones for a decade. Oh, it's good.
- 20:40Speaker 1: Jeremiah Smith ought to be your number one pick.
- 20:42Speaker 3: It's got to be.
- 20:42Speaker 1: Unknown at quarterback. I don't know why you would draft
- 20:45Speaker 1: any of these quarterbacks.
- 20:45Speaker 2: Because somebody will try to overthink it, and I can
- 20:48Speaker 2: make this guy the next John Elway.
- 20:51Speaker 3: Name your quarterback.
- 20:52Speaker 8: Right, right.
- 20:53Speaker 1: But I was just watching this at the start of
- 20:57Speaker 1: this season. I told my wife, I was like, the
- 20:59Speaker 1: best case for us, the best case is we're If
- 21:03Speaker 1: everything goes right and we make all the right personnel decisions,
- 21:06Speaker 1: we're back in the hunt to maybe contend in the
- 21:09Speaker 1: AFC in three years. This full year, throwaway. The next year,
- 21:14Speaker 1: if everything goes right, you start building towards it. And
- 21:16Speaker 1: then year three, you're like, oh, here's a surprise team.
- 21:18Speaker 1: The Dolphins are finally back. Do you know how long
- 21:20Speaker 1: that seems? And imagine getting a, and this is so bad.
- 21:24Speaker 2: It's 2030. You get a terminal diagnosis. You've got two
- 21:27Speaker 2: or three years to live and you just started to rebuild.
- 21:29Speaker 2: Your franchise is rebuilt.
- 21:31Speaker 1: It's probably not my biggest issue.
- 21:33Speaker 3: Probably not. But I mean, like, you know.
- 21:36Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 21:36Speaker 1: Thank God that didn't happen.
- 21:37Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 21:38Speaker 1: No, but I mean, think about that. You're like, it's
- 21:40Speaker 1: minimum three years before we are. even competitive in the AFC.
- 21:44Speaker 2: Unless you do strike one of these quarterback situations like
- 21:47Speaker 2: you guys did in 84 or 83 with Dan Marino.
- 21:50Speaker 2: Brought him in in 84 and the next, you know,
- 21:53Speaker 2: they were cooking.
- 21:54Speaker 1: I will say this. My team's been way more competitive
- 21:57Speaker 1: than I ever thought. They get better every week. And Malik,
- 22:01Speaker 1: somebody asked me, a buddy of mine asked me, he's
- 22:02Speaker 1: a Titans fan, my buddy Jacob, called me yesterday and
- 22:06Speaker 1: he was like, what's your feeling Malik Willis? I was like, man,
- 22:08Speaker 1: there are times he's really good and there's times he's not.
- 22:10Speaker 1: And he's like, huh? I got Cam Ward. I mean,
- 22:15Speaker 1: the Titans have packed that in on Cam Ward. They
- 22:16Speaker 1: are done with him.
- 22:18Speaker 2: And, like, he'll just have a moment here and there,
- 22:21Speaker 2: like the throw to the pylon with Cornell Tate where
- 22:23Speaker 2: they get in and then they give.
- 22:24Speaker 3: Up the walk-off field goal.
- 22:27Speaker 2: Like, he's got some moments. He just doesn't have a
- 22:29Speaker 2: lot of talent. I just don't know how you go
- 22:30Speaker 2: franchise quarterback and within two years you're ready to flush that.
- 22:33Speaker 2: I know.
- 22:34Speaker 3: I mean, unless they're just completely awful. I mean, we
- 22:36Speaker 3: thought that with J.J.
- 22:36Speaker 2: McCarthy, and look what he's done his last six or
- 22:40Speaker 2: five quarters of football. So– Just real quick before we
- 22:44Speaker 2: go to break.
- 22:45Speaker 1: If you miss on Jeremiah Smith this year, do you
- 22:48Speaker 1: think next year Malachi Toney is almost what you're getting
- 22:51Speaker 1: in Jeremiah Smith?
- 22:53Speaker 2: Oh, I think you're getting a more dynamic. It's a
- 22:56Speaker 2: different game. Yeah, it is more Julio Jones, like physical
- 22:59Speaker 2: wide receiver.
- 23:00Speaker 1: But you're not going to run reverses to him and
- 23:02Speaker 1: stuff like that.
- 23:03Speaker 2: Yeah, Malachi Toney can just change so many different things.
- 23:06Speaker 1: Malachi Toney is more Tyreek Hill.
- 23:08Speaker 2: Would you say that? And just because he can do
- 23:11Speaker 2: so many things, not as physical as Debo Samuel, but
- 23:14Speaker 2: can just do a lot of different things.
- 23:18Speaker 3: Which one would I rather have?
- 23:19Speaker 2: I probably would rather have Jeremiah Smith because I feel
- 23:21Speaker 2: like you've just got a number one wide out. Malachi
- 23:24Speaker 2: Toney is kind of that Swiss Army nice that can
- 23:26Speaker 2: do a million different things, flip the field and returns
- 23:29Speaker 2: and things like that.
- 23:29Speaker 3: But Jeremiah Smith is, how do you pass on a
- 23:33Speaker 3: Hall of Famer?
- 23:33Speaker 2: If he doesn't get hurt and he plays with a
- 23:36Speaker 2: decent quarterback, There is no chance, like, I shouldn't say
- 23:40Speaker 2: no chance, but it just seems. It feels that way.
- 23:41Speaker 2: I agree. It really does.
- 23:42Speaker 3: And you just don't pass on Hall of Famers.
- 23:46Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm with you on that.
- 23:47Speaker 1: And if the Dolphins up for the first pick, I
- 23:49Speaker 1: want Jeremiah Smith. Don't give me a quarterback. I want
- 23:52Speaker 1: Jeremiah Smith. All right, that's our opening segment there. NFL,
- 23:56Speaker 1: Major League Baseball. We're going to get to college. Speaking
- 23:59Speaker 1: of a guy that might have been in contention for
- 24:00Speaker 1: that number one draft pick as a quarterback, he is
- 24:03Speaker 1: done for the season. We'll hear what Dan Lanning says
- 24:05Speaker 1: about Dante Moore when we return and much more from
- 24:08Speaker 1: the college football world. It is the next round on
- 24:11Speaker 1: Sporting State presented by Hard Rock Bet.
- 24:16Speaker 10: Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
- 24:16Speaker 2: This is Coach's chair.
- 24:18Speaker 9: What?
- 24:18Speaker 2: We protect Coach's chair the way Hard Rock Bet protects
- 24:21Speaker 2: Coach's account. Hard Rock Bet keeps Coach's info safe. Hard
- 24:24Speaker 2: Rock Bet keeps Coach's money safe. And we keep Coach safe. Hey, fellas. Coach. Coach.
- 24:33Speaker 2: How about that protection? Can I grab a wing? Coach's wings.
- 24:36Speaker 2: I guess I'll sit on the ground. That's where Coach
- 24:38Speaker 2: puts his feet. Safe and secure betting from the very
- 24:40Speaker 2: first tap. Great to meet you, Coach. It was Coach's pleasure.
- 24:45Speaker 1: It is the next round presented by Hard Rock Bet
- 24:47Speaker 1: on Sporting State. Along with Lance Taylor, I'm Ryan Brown.
- 24:51Speaker 1: One college quarterback shut down for the year, unfortunately. We'll
- 24:55Speaker 1: talk about that in just a moment. As we return,
- 24:58Speaker 1: a reminder about Crockett Coffee. Get your day started right

- 25:59Speaker 1: C-R-O-C-K-E-T-T. CrockettCoffee.com. For those that don't know, we do a
- 26:07Speaker 1: show each week with Tom Lukenbill, Monday Morning Live. Normally,
- 26:09Speaker 1: Dunaway hosts it, but since he was out of town,
- 26:11Speaker 1: I hosted it yesterday. You can find it on demand
- 26:14Speaker 1: at Next Round Live on YouTube, at Next Round Live
- 26:16Speaker 1: on YouTube. And I just randomly mentioned, you know, in
- 26:18Speaker 1: the hills of the Oregon loss to Illinois... I told
- 26:21Speaker 1: Luke and Bill, I was like, you know, Dante Moore
- 26:23Speaker 1: has been out a month and I had no information
- 26:26Speaker 1: on this, but I was like, it wouldn't surprise me
- 26:28Speaker 1: if he just shuts it down now. I mean, the
- 26:30Speaker 1: guy could have gone to the NFL last year and
- 26:31Speaker 1: been a first round pick. Maybe, maybe the Ty Simpson spot,
- 26:35Speaker 1: the second guy off the board, maybe not to your.
- 26:37Speaker 2: Rams, but much like, you know, you talk about Aaron
- 26:40Speaker 2: Donald's kicking himself in the ass for coming back out
- 26:42Speaker 2: of retirement. I think Dante Moore, look, and he made
- 26:44Speaker 2: a lot of money this year at Oregon, but if
- 26:46Speaker 2: he would have come out, he would have gone on
- 26:48Speaker 2: the first round. I know Kuyper's got him 25th overall
- 26:51Speaker 2: right now. He does have him in that last spot
- 26:54Speaker 2: in his top 25. But based on, you know, I
- 26:58Speaker 2: don't know if you really worry about the concussion protocol
- 27:02Speaker 2: moving forward at all. Well, you did with Tua. Well,
- 27:05Speaker 2: you did with Tua, but that was a little bit more.
- 27:08Speaker 2: I guess you've always got to look at that. A
- 27:09Speaker 2: guy like Eric Lendros, you remember one of the potentially
- 27:12Speaker 2: great hockey players for the Flyers had to shut it
- 27:14Speaker 2: down early because of the concussions.
- 27:17Speaker 1: I just, you know, the only reason I brought it
- 27:19Speaker 1: up was they're now a three-loss team. He basically came
- 27:23Speaker 1: back to win a national championship. And I know he's
- 27:26Speaker 1: getting paid a lot to come back, could have gone
- 27:27Speaker 1: to the NFL. And I hate to say it this way,
- 27:30Speaker 1: but what's the point of coming back and playing? Yeah,
- 27:32Speaker 1: and that's the only reason he came back. And this
- 27:33Speaker 1: thing has been an utter disaster.
- 27:36Speaker 2: Like, if there, I mean, I think any and everyone
- 27:39Speaker 2: would have, like A & M' s been disappointing, the most
- 27:42Speaker 2: disappointing team in college football by far, not even close
- 27:45Speaker 2: as Oregon. That's right. And you've already fired your OC.
- 27:47Speaker 2: You've lost your quarterback for the year.
- 27:49Speaker 1: Yeah, it has been a complete disaster.
- 27:50Speaker 2: I mean, before we get to November with that schedule,
- 27:53Speaker 2: they're already out of the college football playoffs.
- 27:54Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, it is insane how quickly this has
- 27:57Speaker 1: fallen for Oregon. We're talking about how quickly it changed
- 27:59Speaker 1: for the Eagles. It's changed faster for Oregon. Now they
- 28:02Speaker 1: can get it back, obviously.
- 28:03Speaker 2: And they've been consistently average the entire year. You know,
- 28:05Speaker 2: they struggle with Boise at home, and then they lose
- 28:08Speaker 2: on the road in Stillwater. You turn it over seven
- 28:10Speaker 2: times to UCLA and a backup quarterback. I mean, they
- 28:14Speaker 2: haven't been good.
- 28:15Speaker 1: Well, here is Dan Lanning in a pretty cool hoodie,
- 28:18Speaker 1: by the way.
- 28:18Speaker 3: I like that hoodie a lot.
- 28:19Speaker 2: I like the hoodie, too.
- 28:20Speaker 1: Dan Lanning on Dante Moore being out for the remainder
- 28:25Speaker 1: of the season at Oregon.
- 28:26Speaker 11: Really got clarity for us this past week, you know,
- 28:29Speaker 11: for him. And I think if it was up to
- 28:30Speaker 11: Dante in any shape, way, he would want to be
- 28:33Speaker 11: out there playing for the guys. But unfortunately, it's not
- 28:35Speaker 11: really up to Dante. It's not really up to me.
- 28:37Speaker 11: We can control the setting at practice where he's able
- 28:39Speaker 11: to do things for us where that's not always the
- 28:41Speaker 11: case in the game. And, you know, we said before
- 28:43Speaker 11: that this is a serious deal that he'll 100 percent
- 28:46Speaker 11: be able to make a full recovery from that hasn't changed.
- 28:49Speaker 11: definitely feel that way, but for him to be out
- 28:50Speaker 11: there on the field for us right now, that's not
- 28:52Speaker 11: going to happen. He's communicated that to some of his teammates. Obviously,
- 28:56Speaker 11: that's made news a little bit today. We'd love to
- 28:59Speaker 11: have Dante out there. He's still going to be a
- 29:00Speaker 11: big part of this team in helping us move forward,
- 29:04Speaker 11: finding opportunities for us to be better. I can tell
- 29:06Speaker 11: you we're getting one of the best scout team quarterback
- 29:08Speaker 11: looks every single week in practice, and he looks good
- 29:11Speaker 11: out there, but there's a reality that I'm not a
- 29:13Speaker 11: professional to be able to recognize, and even Dante in
- 29:16Speaker 11: some sense is he can't take advantage of situations because
- 29:20Speaker 11: it's out of our territory.
- 29:22Speaker 1: That is horribly unfortunate, and no offense to your college
- 29:26Speaker 1: team of choice, it's sad that a cheap shot is
- 29:29Speaker 1: what led to.
- 29:29Speaker 2: This, you know? Yeah, the Desmond Stephens hit, and yeah,
- 29:33Speaker 2: it really is. That changed everything. Well, and the perception
- 29:36Speaker 2: of that would have been different if you don't celebrate
- 29:38Speaker 2: the hit.
- 29:38Speaker 3: If yeah if you show a little.
- 29:40Speaker 2: Remorse maybe like you mess things up yeah and concern
- 29:43Speaker 2: for the player like and i haven't heard behind the
- 29:46Speaker 2: scenes if he's reached out like you would hope by
- 29:48Speaker 2: now i would hope like you've crushed the entire.
- 29:50Speaker 1: Season i mean the dude has had to pack it
- 29:52Speaker 1: in for the season after that hit and I mean, that, Lance,
- 29:56Speaker 1: was Oregon's fourth game. That was Saturday, September 26th. Today's
- 29:59Speaker 1: October 27th. We are a month away from that.
- 30:01Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 30:02Speaker 1: And we've not seen the kid again.
- 30:03Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 30:03Speaker 3: And it's just, it's been, you know, obviously a terrible
- 30:06Speaker 3: year for them.
- 30:06Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 30:07Speaker 1: And by the way, they're not done losing. They are
- 30:09Speaker 1: three and three, or four and three, excuse me. They
- 30:12Speaker 1: host Northwestern Saturday in a very losable game. They are
- 30:16Speaker 1: at Ohio State in a game they would likely lose.
- 30:19Speaker 1: Then they host Michigan. That's not going to shock me
- 30:21Speaker 1: if they take three straight L's right here. That's going
- 30:25Speaker 1: to be tough, but is that going to blow you away,
- 30:27Speaker 1: Northwestern at Ohio State and Michigan?
- 30:28Speaker 3: No, and then what do they end with?
- 30:30Speaker 1: Well, they're at Michigan State and Washington, so it eases up.
- 30:32Speaker 2: A little bit. Can you imagine if they— Miss a bowl? Yeah.
- 30:38Speaker 1: I mean, they're going to have to lose four more
- 30:39Speaker 1: games to.
- 30:39Speaker 2: Miss a bowl. Yeah, I don't see that. But you
- 30:41Speaker 2: never know. When do guys start opting out? This is
- 30:45Speaker 2: the moment. Okay, our quarterback's done. We've already got three losses.
- 30:47Speaker 2: We're not going to college football playoff. Now, if you
- 30:49Speaker 2: opt out, what happens with NIL?
- 30:52Speaker 1: See, I never know the answer to that. And I
- 30:54Speaker 1: imagine each contract could be slightly different. So I don't
- 30:59Speaker 1: know the actual answer to that. I just, I mean,
- 31:01Speaker 1: it is hard to believe. And let me ask a
- 31:03Speaker 1: broader question about the Oregon Ducks. Because they had really
- 31:07Speaker 1: good teams under Chip Kelly that could get to the
- 31:10Speaker 1: national championship game, but couldn't win it. They've had a
- 31:13Speaker 1: really good team under Dan Lanning that was the overall
- 31:15Speaker 1: number one seed, looked like the best team in America.
- 31:17Speaker 1: and just got their brakes beat off by Ohio State
- 31:21Speaker 1: in the Rose Bowl. They've been back to the college
- 31:24Speaker 1: football playoff again. They just can't advance to the college
- 31:30Speaker 1: football playoff. Indiana whipped them in last year's playoff. Do
- 31:34Speaker 1: you think you'll ever see an Oregon national championship? It
- 31:37Speaker 1: is almost like this program is. You bring up the
- 31:40Speaker 1: Dante Moore injury is not even the worst injury that's
- 31:42Speaker 1: cost them a shot at a championship. Because you bring
- 31:45Speaker 1: it up all the time. Was it Dennis Dixon that
- 31:47Speaker 1: got hurt in that game?
- 31:48Speaker 2: Yeah, that Thursday night game. The reason I know this.
- 31:51Speaker 2: You had a side on it? Well, I had a
- 31:54Speaker 2: side on it, but I remember being all in on
- 31:56Speaker 2: that team, but I had gotten my vasectomy that day. Okay.
- 31:59Speaker 1: Well, that is certainly a memorable day in a man's life.
- 32:02Speaker 2: The meds they put you on, it's like next level.
- 32:05Speaker 2: And so I just remember being zoned out on a
- 32:07Speaker 2: couch in my old house, watching Dennis Dixon tear every
- 32:11Speaker 2: ligament in his knee and Arizona win that game in
- 32:13Speaker 2: Tucson that night. And at that point, everything just went
- 32:17Speaker 2: the wrong way for Oregon.
- 32:19Speaker 1: You thought they were the best team in the nation
- 32:20Speaker 1: at that point.
- 32:21Speaker 2: I really did, yeah. I did.
- 32:22Speaker 1: That's why you remember this so vividly.
- 32:23Speaker 2: That offense, and it was Chip Kelly early on, and
- 32:25Speaker 2: they were just clicking. Now, whether or not they could
- 32:27Speaker 2: have been able to close the deal, a thousand percent
- 32:31Speaker 2: convinced they would have played for the national championship.
- 32:33Speaker 1: Yeah, and that was back, that was so long ago.
- 32:35Speaker 1: It was only two teams, right? That was not even,
- 32:38Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, that was well before the four-team.
- 32:40Speaker 3: That would have been 2007.
- 32:41Speaker 1: Yeah, so you had to be the top two teams
- 32:45Speaker 1: of the BCS just to play.
- 32:46Speaker 3: And that was that weird year.
- 32:48Speaker 4: Yeah, that was the crazy 07 year.
- 32:50Speaker 3: That LSU won it with two losses.
- 32:51Speaker 1: Yeah, so Oregon certainly was a national.
- 32:53Speaker 2: Were they undefeated at the time? Yeah, they were undefeated.
- 32:56Speaker 2: How deep in the season was that? That was in November.
- 32:59Speaker 2: And so they lost that game on a Thursday night.
- 33:02Speaker 2: And then they ended up, when he went out, they
- 33:04Speaker 2: lost another game. Yeah.
- 33:06Speaker 1: Um, several, several points here on Oregon. Number one, let
- 33:09Speaker 1: me just finish that, that line of thought there. Do
- 33:12Speaker 1: you think they will ever win a national championship in
- 33:15Speaker 1: your lifetime? Um, you know, who else is asking this
- 33:17Speaker 1: question is Phil Knight, who has funded this whole thing.
- 33:20Speaker 1: And we saw video of Phil Knight not long ago, entering, um,
- 33:23Speaker 1: the stadium there in Eugene. And that dude is old.
- 33:27Speaker 1: I mean, he does not have much time left on
- 33:29Speaker 1: our planet.
- 33:30Speaker 2: Yeah, this exercise is going to get a lot of
- 33:31Speaker 2: people killed, but if I would have gone gunned ahead
- 33:33Speaker 2: before the season, one team that for sure makes a
- 33:35Speaker 2: college football playoff, I would have gone Oregon probably. That's right,
- 33:38Speaker 2: and you would have lost. But I would have already
- 33:40Speaker 2: been dead from the year before with Clemson.
- 33:43Speaker 3: So it wouldn't have mattered.
- 33:44Speaker 2: You cannot die twice. But for them to not get
- 33:46Speaker 2: to a college football playoff, I entertained having them in
- 33:48Speaker 2: my national championship. I think I ended up having Notre
- 33:50Speaker 2: Dame over Georgia.
- 33:51Speaker 1: You talked Oregon all summer, and at the last minute
- 33:54Speaker 1: you switched.
- 33:54Speaker 2: Yeah, Dunaway really started to scare me off, Oregon. Really
- 33:57Speaker 2: started to scare me off. Y'all were not alone. A
- 34:00Speaker 2: lot of people had Oregon. That's what I was going
- 34:01Speaker 2: to say. It wasn't just that. There were a ton
- 34:03Speaker 2: of people talking about the Ducks. But, I mean, outside
- 34:05Speaker 2: of the coordinators, which obviously is a big deal, and
- 34:07Speaker 2: the defense still is pretty good for Oregon– The offense
- 34:11Speaker 2: has completely gone in the tank.
- 34:13Speaker 1: So I ask you the question Phil Knight's asking right now.
- 34:16Speaker 1: Do you think you'll ever see an Oregon national champion?
- 34:17Speaker 2: Phil Knight will not. I mean, how long are we
- 34:21Speaker 2: going to be here? Is AI going to wipe this
- 34:22Speaker 2: thing out in five years? We never know.
- 34:24Speaker 1: This prediction will not matter if AI wipes us out.
- 34:26Speaker 2: Nobody's going to remember this. If you would give me 25,
- 34:29Speaker 2: one more quarter of a century in college football, Oregon
- 34:31Speaker 2: will win a national championship.
- 34:35Speaker 3: If we get 25 more years.
- 34:36Speaker 1: See, I just wonder, here's one thing I wonder is, well,
- 34:39Speaker 1: first of all, Nike is not doing particularly well as
- 34:41Speaker 1: a company.
- 34:42Speaker 2: That's number one.
- 34:43Speaker 1: So that is obviously a factor.
- 34:45Speaker 3: Nike, you know, greed.
- 34:47Speaker 2: Greed is, I know Gordon Gekko said greed's good.
- 34:50Speaker 3: A lot of time it's not.
- 34:51Speaker 2: When you start putting all your stuff in big box and,
- 34:54Speaker 2: you know, there was a moment, Tyler knows this, and
- 34:56Speaker 2: it was fun like going out and getting the dunks
- 34:58Speaker 2: and getting the Air Jordans and having the retro shoes.
- 35:00Speaker 2: But you can get them anywhere now and everyone's got them.
- 35:03Speaker 2: So they have completely oversaturated, diluted the product. They sold
- 35:07Speaker 2: out and it's reflected right now in the stock.
- 35:09Speaker 7: They were trying to cash in on the high resale
- 35:12Speaker 7: prices on dunks and retro Jordans during the pandemic. And
- 35:16Speaker 7: so they flooded the market with them. And so now
- 35:18Speaker 7: the price on them is through the floor. And they
- 35:22Speaker 7: also skimped on the materials when redoing these retros.
- 35:26Speaker 1: I also read, and a lot of companies made decisions post-COVID,
- 35:29Speaker 1: but I also read post-COVID that they thought shop from
- 35:33Speaker 1: home was going to be the way business was done post-COVID.
- 35:36Speaker 1: And they gave up some wall space to like OnCloud.
- 35:40Speaker 2: There were several. OnCloud, Hoka. OnCloud, Hoka, several of.
- 35:42Speaker 1: Them that took the wall space and Dix and Academy
- 35:46Speaker 1: and places like that and bought.
- 35:48Speaker 2: That has hurt them as well. I read that. I
- 35:50Speaker 2: don't know if that's true.
- 35:51Speaker 1: I'm not a shoe expert, but that seems to be reasonable.
- 35:53Speaker 7: That's hurt them volume-wise, but as far as their cool factor,
- 35:59Speaker 7: it's the retro Jordan issue.
- 36:01Speaker 3: It kills a lot of products.
- 36:03Speaker 2: Columbia used to be a really well-respected brand, but now
- 36:06Speaker 2: you walk in Buc-ee's and they sell Columbia jackets. Yeah.
- 36:09Speaker 1: They sell a lot of things.
- 36:10Speaker 2: I'm not knocking. I like Buc-ee's. I think you kind
- 36:13Speaker 2: of like Buc-ee's.
- 36:14Speaker 1: I'm fine with Buc-ee's. It's a bit overwhelming. There's a
- 36:17Speaker 1: lot of people in there that don't have spatial awareness,
- 36:20Speaker 1: and that is something that bothers me a lot. You're
- 36:23Speaker 1: just standing right in the middle of the walkway talking.
- 36:27Speaker 1: I'm like, I'm fine with you talking here, but let's
- 36:29Speaker 1: move right out.
- 36:30Speaker 3: Of the middle of the walkway. It's almost like a
- 36:31Speaker 3: county fair. People walk in.
- 36:32Speaker 2: They unload after driving hours and hours and hours. That's right.
- 36:36Speaker 2: Half of them hadn't showered. They're looking rough as hell.
- 36:38Speaker 2: But it's like they just got unloaded at the fair.
- 36:41Speaker 2: So like they're going in every direction and grabbing shit
- 36:44Speaker 2: and excited. Everybody's running to the bathroom and then they're
- 36:46Speaker 2: grabbing food. So I know what you're saying. With all
- 36:48Speaker 2: that said, they do sell a ton of stuff. Yeah,
- 36:50Speaker 2: they've got good products. Yeah. And I'm sure Columbia is
- 36:53Speaker 2: still a good product, but I think it has diluted
- 36:55Speaker 2: it a little bit by selling it.
- 36:56Speaker 1: Extremely clean restrooms.
- 36:58Speaker 9: Oh, yeah.
- 36:58Speaker 1: And a wide selection of fountain drinks. That's what I
- 37:02Speaker 1: will say about Buc-ee's that they've got going for them.
- 37:04Speaker 1: extremely clean restrooms, and a very wide selection of fountain drinks.
- 37:09Speaker 10: And the brisket sandwich isn't half bad either.
- 37:10Speaker 2: The brisket sandwich is better than you would think. I
- 37:13Speaker 2: almost got it the other day. It's good.
- 37:14Speaker 3: You know, they've got like that little.
- 37:17Speaker 1: If only I knew if there were hot brisket on
- 37:18Speaker 1: the board. That's the one thing I, you know, only
- 37:20Speaker 1: if I, if there was a way they could tell
- 37:22Speaker 1: me that that was it.
- 37:22Speaker 2: But they chop up, they've got the, it's like a
- 37:25Speaker 2: cup of, It's got the different cube cheeses. It's got
- 37:30Speaker 2: the turkey, and it's got pretzels in it. Yeah, that's
- 37:33Speaker 2: really good. That's a good snack.
- 37:34Speaker 1: No, that brisket sandwich is better. I mean, like, Bucky's
- 37:37Speaker 1: got good brisket. I'll go and give it to him.
- 37:39Speaker 1: And a good sauce.
- 37:39Speaker 2: Texas cheesesteak burrito is good there. Interesting.
- 37:42Speaker 9: Wow.
- 37:42Speaker 1: I've never been a big cheesesteak guy.
- 37:44Speaker 3: Do they do a big breakfast there? I don't think
- 37:46Speaker 3: I've ever been there early.
- 37:47Speaker 2: Oh, God, dude.
- 37:47Speaker 4: If you eat that breakfast burrito, it will fill you
- 37:50Speaker 4: up the remainder of the day.
- 37:50Speaker 1: Scott, didn't you used to stop there on your way
- 37:52Speaker 1: in for breakfast?
- 37:53Speaker 5: Yeah, occasionally. A little brisket taco.
- 37:56Speaker 2: Good stuff.
- 37:56Speaker 5: And great coffee, too.
- 37:58Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 37:58Speaker 1: How crowded is it when you go in there in
- 38:00Speaker 1: the mornings?
- 38:01Speaker 2: Not at all.
- 38:01Speaker 1: It's not too bad. So that's the best time to go?
- 38:03Speaker 6: Yep.
- 38:04Speaker 9: We usually go when we're traveling in the morning time.
- 38:06Speaker 9: We'll leave early in the morning and then stop there
- 38:09Speaker 9: around six or seven.
- 38:10Speaker 1: It was a great Lance line. Like when you get
- 38:12Speaker 1: off the exit to go to Gatlinburg now, like we
- 38:14Speaker 1: did a couple of Fridays ago or Thursday, there's a
- 38:17Speaker 1: Buc-ee's that's up at the top of the hill.
- 38:18Speaker 2: And it's like it.
- 38:20Speaker 1: Looks even bigger than a normal Buc-ee's because it's at
- 38:22Speaker 1: the top.
- 38:23Speaker 2: Of the hill. It is bigger than a normal Buc-ee's. Oh, really?
- 38:26Speaker 3: Everything's bigger in Gatlinburg.
- 38:27Speaker 9: Yeah, that place opened up two or three years ago.
- 38:31Speaker 9: And my mother, my parents frequent Gatlinburg a lot. They
- 38:34Speaker 9: had Dollywood season passes for a while. They're very old
- 38:37Speaker 9: people in that fashion.
- 38:38Speaker 1: I didn't see any old people.
- 38:42Speaker 3: You see everything there.
- 38:43Speaker 2: I saw all old people. Go ahead.
- 38:45Speaker 9: Anyways, though, at the time, I don't know if this
- 38:47Speaker 9: is still the case, it was the biggest Buc-ee's in America.
- 38:51Speaker 2: When it was built.
- 38:52Speaker 1: The Gatlinburg one was?
- 38:53Speaker 4: It was the biggest Buc-ee's in America.
- 38:55Speaker 3: What a flex, right?
- 38:57Speaker 2: I know.
- 38:57Speaker 1: I was going to give Lance credit for the line
- 38:59Speaker 1: when he was like, they got a Buc-ee's at Gatlinburg?
- 39:01Speaker 1: He goes, is it Gatlinburg just one big Buc-ee's? And
- 39:03Speaker 1: you're right about that.
- 39:04Speaker 2: It is.
- 39:04Speaker 1: Gatlinburg is one big Buc-ee's.
- 39:06Speaker 9: It's across the interstate from our guy Mick Gillespie and
- 39:10Speaker 9: the Tennessee Smokies.
- 39:12Speaker 1: Oh, is that where their stadium is?
- 39:13Speaker 4: It's across the interstate up there.
- 39:15Speaker 10: Did you know that?
- 39:15Speaker 2: I did not.
- 39:16Speaker 3: I talked to our buddy Mick today, though.
- 39:17Speaker 1: So Mick has to go all the way through. God almighty,
- 39:20Speaker 1: that is a long drive for him. He goes all
- 39:22Speaker 1: the way through Knoxville to get to that stadium?
- 39:23Speaker 2: Yeah, the Tennessee Smokies is right up there on the hill.
- 39:27Speaker 3: He's a road warrior.
- 39:28Speaker 1: That is a haul from where he lives. All right,
- 39:31Speaker 1: so we say all that to say, will Oregon win
- 39:33Speaker 1: a championship? The thing I don't know about Oregon winning
- 39:36Speaker 1: a championship, that's what I was getting to. Yeah, you
- 39:38Speaker 1: brought up Nike, and there we go. It's that Nike,
- 39:40Speaker 1: once Phil Knight dies, first of all, Nike is not
- 39:42Speaker 1: the company it once was, and once Phil Knight dies,
- 39:45Speaker 1: does he ever... Does the money keep flowing to Oregon?
- 39:48Speaker 2: Yeah, you never know when you have a guy that
- 39:53Speaker 2: really has built one of the biggest empires, one of
- 39:56Speaker 2: the biggest global empires brand-wise that we've ever seen in
- 40:00Speaker 2: our lifetimes. When he passes, what does that succession look like?
- 40:08Speaker 1: I don't know that this is going to happen, but
- 40:09Speaker 1: if Joey Maguire gets fired at Texas Tech, I'm not
- 40:13Speaker 1: saying I don't know that that's going to happen. Joey
- 40:14Speaker 1: Maguire will leave Texas Tech at some point. But if
- 40:17Speaker 1: he gets fired or leaves Texas Tech and I'm a
- 40:20Speaker 1: candidate for that job, like if Cody Campbell ever decides,
- 40:23Speaker 1: screw it, this is not worth it, what is that
- 40:25Speaker 1: job like?
- 40:26Speaker 2: That job becomes a C-D+. That's right.
- 40:29Speaker 1: Now, with Cody Campbell invested and interested in trying to
- 40:33Speaker 1: win a championship, that is a really good job because
- 40:37Speaker 1: you've got resources. But the minute they either win a
- 40:40Speaker 1: championship and Cody Campbell's like, okay, or Cody Campbell's like,
- 40:43Speaker 1: it's just not worth it anymore. I mean, what does
- 40:46Speaker 1: that job become? And that's where you have to be
- 40:47Speaker 1: careful on stuff like this. I would say I don't
- 40:49Speaker 1: think we ever see Oregon win a national championship.
- 40:52Speaker 3: I mean, that would probably be the safe bet.
- 40:54Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean, better chance of having Oregon win a
- 40:57Speaker 2: national championship or your Dolphins win a Super Bowl. I
- 41:02Speaker 2: would say in my lifetime. Yeah. Or ever.
- 41:08Speaker 1: You once said it was one of the harshest things
- 41:10Speaker 1: Lance has ever said to me. And I think this
- 41:12Speaker 1: goes back to the radio days.
- 41:13Speaker 2: But, you know, I'm wrong a lot because I told
- 41:16Speaker 2: Dunaway that what did he want to get down to
- 41:18Speaker 2: and wait?
- 41:20Speaker 1: Was it 160?
- 41:21Speaker 3: What'd I say?
- 41:22Speaker 1: You said you'll be three months in the coffin or
- 41:26Speaker 1: something like that.
- 41:26Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. maybe three months after all that skin rots
- 41:29Speaker 2: off of you. That's the only opportunity you got to
- 41:32Speaker 2: get to that number.
- 41:32Speaker 1: At that point, I was like, Dunaway will cut a
- 41:34Speaker 1: limb off to get down to 160.
- 41:36Speaker 2: He did. Just to prove Lance long. Just miserable not eating. Yeah.
- 41:39Speaker 1: And one time on the radio, we were just randomly
- 41:41Speaker 1: talking about the Dolphins, and Lance was like, Brian, you
- 41:43Speaker 1: know you're going to die without seeing the Dolphins win
- 41:44Speaker 1: a Super Bowl.
- 41:45Speaker 2: And I'm like, jeez. And then I was in my 40s.
- 41:47Speaker 2: I'm 50 now.
- 41:51Speaker 3: I mean, I think I was just being honest with you,
- 41:53Speaker 3: opening your eyes.
- 41:54Speaker 1: Well, you were, but that's the problem is you were
- 41:55Speaker 1: being too honest, I think. I mean, I would at
- 41:57Speaker 1: least like as a friend for you to say, Brown,
- 41:59Speaker 1: I hope you get to see the Dolphins win a
- 42:00Speaker 1: championship before you die.
- 42:01Speaker 3: I mean, I hope you do, I guess, depending.
- 42:04Speaker 2: I want to. The way you worded it.
- 42:05Speaker 3: I need one more Rams before your Dolphins can jump
- 42:07Speaker 3: in there.
- 42:08Speaker 2: God, that is so greedy.
- 42:09Speaker 9: I know.
- 42:10Speaker 1: How many have you seen in your lifetime?
- 42:11Speaker 2: Two. Yep.
- 42:13Speaker 3: I've seen a lot more failure, though.
- 42:15Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 42:16Speaker 1: Not as much as I've seen.
- 42:17Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 42:18Speaker 10: Brown's seen 100% failure.
- 42:20Speaker 2: I mean, really, I have. I mean, you haven't seen
- 42:23Speaker 2: an AFC championship game since 92. I was thinking about that.
- 42:26Speaker 1: I was thinking about that last night. My wife and
- 42:27Speaker 1: I were catching up on the crown yesterday.
- 42:29Speaker 3: I mean, you had just gotten your driver's license.
- 42:31Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 42:31Speaker 1: I was 16 years old in high school. We were
- 42:34Speaker 1: catching up on the crown yesterday. And, you know, it's
- 42:37Speaker 1: just chronologically going. And the date it shows was 1992.
- 42:40Speaker 1: You know, that is the first thing I thought. The
- 42:43Speaker 1: queen was going to make a speech in 1992. And
- 42:44Speaker 1: it had been a particularly turbulent time. I think Andrew
- 42:49Speaker 1: had divorced Fergie. Charles had divorced Diana or they were
- 42:53Speaker 1: in the process of getting divorced, something like that. And
- 42:54Speaker 1: then the daughter, Anne, had divorced her husband. So it
- 42:58Speaker 1: was like all these scandals going on at once.
- 43:00Speaker 2: I don't know if you know this, but it is
- 43:02Speaker 2: very chaotic in that royal family.
- 43:03Speaker 1: Yeah, as it turns out, it is. And I never
- 43:05Speaker 1: knew that. I hadn't paid zero attention to the royal
- 43:08Speaker 1: family until we started watching this series, which is very
- 43:12Speaker 1: well done, by the way. And it was 1992. And
- 43:17Speaker 1: I thought, how long ago does this seem? on this series, right?
- 43:21Speaker 1: That it's 1992. And like Charles is using one of
- 43:25Speaker 1: those big flip phones and somebody's got one of those
- 43:27Speaker 1: big brick phones and, and it's 1992. And I'm like,
- 43:30Speaker 1: that is the last time my team played for an
- 43:32Speaker 1: AFC championship. Now I'm probably the only person that's ever
- 43:34Speaker 1: watched the crown and watched that scene. And it said
- 43:37Speaker 1: in 1992, and I've thought that's the last time my
- 43:40Speaker 1: team played for the AFC championship.
- 43:41Speaker 2: That was my first time. I'm sure there's some Alabama
- 43:43Speaker 2: fans that probably gave a roll tide. Oh yeah.
- 43:45Speaker 1: They're like, Oh, that's one of our 80 million national
- 43:47Speaker 1: championships is 92. That's not what I thought. I was like,
- 43:51Speaker 1: that's the last time my team played for an AFC championship.
- 43:55Speaker 2: It's so sad. All right.
- 43:57Speaker 1: More of the next round coming up. What are we
- 44:00Speaker 1: going to do next? You've got updated national championship odds.
- 44:03Speaker 1: Our friends at Hard Rock Bet updated national championship odds.
- 44:05Speaker 2: We will do that.
- 44:06Speaker 1: Next on the next round presented by Hard Rock Bet
- 44:09Speaker 1: on Sporting State.
- 44:11Speaker 12: This year, the biggest sportsbook party's getting even bigger.
- 44:15Speaker 2: Hey, there's J-Boy.
- 44:16Speaker 12: Whether you just getting here or you been here, you're
- 44:19Speaker 12: not leaving here empty-handed.
- 44:21Speaker 10: Hey, J.
- 44:22Speaker 2: Jimmy Johnson. Kevin, they know me? Of course.
- 44:26Speaker 12: In this party, everybody's somebody. This season, Hard Rock Bet
- 44:30Speaker 12: has something for everyone.
- 44:31Speaker 6: Plus, new customers bet $ 5 and get up to $ 500
- 44:34Speaker 6: in no-sweat bets.
- 44:35Speaker 2: Hey, that's Fat Joe. Forget him. That's J-Boy.
- 44:38Speaker 12: Hey, J-Boy.
- 44:39Speaker 2: My name's J-Boy. I got that. I got that.
- 44:41Speaker 1: It is Hard Rock Bet presenting the next round on
- 44:46Speaker 1: sport and state. We are about to talk about Hard
- 44:49Speaker 1: Rock Bet's national championship odds updated. Boy, this seems like
- 44:54Speaker 1: the boys out there in Vegas, they're having to do
- 44:56Speaker 1: this every week, right?
- 44:58Speaker 2: Every week.
- 44:58Speaker 1: I mean, it's like somebody has lost every week. We've
- 45:00Speaker 1: got to readjust every week. And this has been seemingly
- 45:04Speaker 1: chaotic on this. We'll see where it stands right now
- 45:06Speaker 1: as we head into week number nine, the last week
- 45:09Speaker 1: of October. And college football. And as you know, nothing
- 45:13Speaker 1: matters up until this point, really. It is all decided
- 45:16Speaker 1: in November. November will be a hectic month.
- 45:18Speaker 3: That's what's so wild.
- 45:19Speaker 2: Like, I don't know how it can get more hectic
- 45:20Speaker 2: than what we've seen the carnage that has happened throughout October.
- 45:23Speaker 2: But it always does in November. You know that. Well,
- 45:24Speaker 2: and that's what's nuts because normally when we get to November,
- 45:27Speaker 2: you've got like. two or three undefeated, two or three
- 45:30Speaker 2: one-loss teams, and you're like, where are they going to
- 45:32Speaker 2: take on this other loss? Well, now it's a bunch
- 45:34Speaker 2: of two-loss and three-loss teams, so now you're going to
- 45:36Speaker 2: take on that third and fourth loss?
- 45:38Speaker 1: Notre Dame, or Notre Dame, November, and Notre Dame may
- 45:41Speaker 1: be involved in this, but November's still got one more
- 45:43Speaker 1: wipeout weekend in it where like half the top ten
- 45:47Speaker 1: gets wiped out with a loss.
- 45:48Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, it's coming. Just trust me.
- 45:50Speaker 1: Now, your team may not be in it, but it's
- 45:52Speaker 1: coming in November. All right, Perfect 10 Mortgage. The name

- 47:04Speaker 1: advertisement is not a promise to make alone. Perfect 10
- 47:07Speaker 1: Mortgage in pursuit of a more perfect mortgage. All right, HardRock.bet,
- 47:12Speaker 1: backslash Clay, where are we going with the odds for
- 47:15Speaker 1: the national championship?
- 47:16Speaker 2: Let's look at some long shots right now, just teams
- 47:19Speaker 2: that could potentially get in. And once you get into
- 47:21Speaker 2: the 12-team playoff, who knows? The longest odds right now
- 47:25Speaker 2: on a potential to get in would be Wisconsin at 400-1.
- 47:30Speaker 1: I don't think there is any reason to even go
- 47:33Speaker 1: down this road. But I made you do it yesterday.
- 47:36Speaker 1: And when you look at their schedule, if they can
- 47:39Speaker 1: win this week against Iowa, which is a big if.
- 47:41Speaker 2: Big if.
- 47:42Speaker 1: But if they can win this week against Iowa, who
- 47:44Speaker 1: is coming off a loss to Minnesota-Wisconsin, coming off the
- 47:46Speaker 1: win over USC, the road is not that bad for Wisconsin.
- 47:51Speaker 2: Now....
- 47:53Speaker 1: I think Reese Davis is very wise, and Reese, with
- 47:56Speaker 1: great wisdom, once said, if you're not a good enough team,
- 48:00Speaker 1: the loss is going to find you. And the loss
- 48:03Speaker 1: will find Wisconsin somewhere. But you've got to put odds
- 48:05Speaker 1: on them.
- 48:06Speaker 2: Yeah. After USC's loss to Wisconsin, their odds dropped to 150-1. Wow.
- 48:14Speaker 2: Never thought you'd see USC there this year.
- 48:16Speaker 3: 150-1.
- 48:17Speaker 2: So a lot of people that probably took a flyer
- 48:19Speaker 2: on them at 15-1, now you could get 10 times.
- 48:22Speaker 2: That return right now, look, they're going nowhere fast. They're
- 48:25Speaker 2: not even ranked right now. They're a full touchdown underdog
- 48:28Speaker 2: in the Coliseum this weekend, so they've got more losses
- 48:30Speaker 2: coming up. But I did want to float that out there. Iowa,
- 48:32Speaker 2: that is on the other side of Wisconsin. I mean,
- 48:35Speaker 2: Iowa's very much in the mix, right?
- 48:38Speaker 3: Well, they were.
- 48:39Speaker 2: They were. They were.
- 48:39Speaker 1: But they are now a two-loss team. But still, if
- 48:43Speaker 1: they went out there, 125-1. Well, let's check their win
- 48:46Speaker 1: out here, Lance. Let's see what you're talking about here.
- 48:48Speaker 1: They got Wisconsin this weekend, and after that, at Northwestern.
- 48:50Speaker 1: Tough game for them. Purdue at Illinois-Nebraska.
- 48:54Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 48:55Speaker 1: I mean, there was a minute I thought that Nebraska-Iowa
- 48:57Speaker 1: game could potentially, and it's still alive. Nebraska's only got
- 49:00Speaker 1: two losses.
- 49:00Speaker 2: Well, Nebraska's got the same long odds that Iowa does, 125-1.
- 49:05Speaker 1: I just thought that could sneakily be a game for
- 49:07Speaker 1: a playoff spot. Now, the problem, again, Ohio State shows
- 49:11Speaker 1: up on a lot of these schedules. We've got to
- 49:12Speaker 1: see what Ohio State is with the backup quarterback.
- 49:14Speaker 2: You want to take a flyer on Oklahoma State at 175-1?
- 49:17Speaker 2: It's in the Big 12. They're not dead yet.
- 49:22Speaker 3: Well, the one I like a lot is Arizona 150-1.
- 49:25Speaker 1: You love you some Arizona. Let's visit Arizona real quick
- 49:28Speaker 1: in the Big 12.
- 49:29Speaker 2: Take a look at them. The defense is playing at
- 49:30Speaker 2: a high level. You heard Clyde talk about... you know,
- 49:34Speaker 2: head coach and how much he likes him. Uh, Fafita
- 49:37Speaker 2: has been playing well.
- 49:38Speaker 1: So they've got Texas tech on the road and that's boy,
- 49:42Speaker 1: they've got still got Texas tech in Utah.
- 49:44Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 49:44Speaker 1: I mean, they're going to earn it if they get there.
- 49:45Speaker 1: They do host Utah, but at Texas tech this week,
- 49:49Speaker 1: very winnable game for them. This Texas tech team isn't
- 49:51Speaker 1: what many thought they were going to be host TCU.
- 49:54Speaker 1: TCU has not been good this year at Utah. If
- 49:57Speaker 1: they can survive that at Kansas state and Arizona state's
- 49:59Speaker 1: pretty soft landing for them. Um, You know, normally you
- 50:03Speaker 1: talk about teams with two losses. I don't think Arizona
- 50:05Speaker 1: can absorb another loss because they're going to have to
- 50:07Speaker 1: get into the conference championship game to make this thing.
- 50:10Speaker 1: And they've got a loss to BYU. They need BYU
- 50:12Speaker 1: to go ahead and be good and take that number
- 50:15Speaker 1: one seed.
- 50:16Speaker 2: They're going to have to win out. And then if
- 50:18Speaker 2: you win out, then you've got to continue to win
- 50:20Speaker 2: out in the college football playoff.
- 50:21Speaker 3: I just thought it was an interesting number.
- 50:23Speaker 1: If they win out, they're going to have to either
- 50:24Speaker 1: beat BYU, who they couldn't earlier, or beat Texas Tech
- 50:27Speaker 1: or Utah again.
- 50:27Speaker 2: Throw this schedule out real quick. Missouri, a team that
- 50:30Speaker 2: we don't talk about after the loss to Ole Miss.
- 50:33Speaker 2: I mean, they are 5-2 technically. They're still ranked.
- 50:37Speaker 1: I'm sure Drink will tell you they're still alive.
- 50:39Speaker 3: They're 100-1 right now.
- 50:42Speaker 1: Well, Saturday they're at Arkansas. They're coming off a bye,
- 50:45Speaker 1: by the way. They're at Arkansas Saturday. I'm about to
- 50:47Speaker 1: tell you why you can take that ticket and tear
- 50:50Speaker 1: it up. Texas at home, at Georgia, Kentucky at home,
- 50:54Speaker 1: the three after Arkansas. And then, if you survive all that,
- 50:56Speaker 1: you've still got to play Oklahoma at home.
- 50:58Speaker 2: Let's move on. The Florida Gators. Where are we on
- 51:01Speaker 2: that schedule? Because these odds aren't insane. I mean, they are.
- 51:05Speaker 2: It's 50-1, but that is cut in half from what
- 51:07Speaker 2: we're talking about right there with Missouri.
- 51:10Speaker 1: Cocktail party this week. I mean, you've got to tell
- 51:13Speaker 1: me how winnable you think that is.
- 51:15Speaker 3: I mean, they're a 10-point underdog. It's winnable.
- 51:18Speaker 1: More coming up on that in the next hour. I
- 51:20Speaker 1: want to ask you, as we look at the Florida schedule,
- 51:22Speaker 1: in the next hour, how close Florida and Georgia really are.
- 51:25Speaker 2: We'll hear from both the coaches. I mean, the unfortunate
- 51:27Speaker 2: thing for Summerall is you wanted to get Georgia at
- 51:30Speaker 2: this point unscathed.
- 51:31Speaker 3: You didn't want that loss.
- 51:33Speaker 2: For Georgia to be coming off a three-turnover game from Stockton,
- 51:37Speaker 2: a loss as a 20-point favorite and then getting a
- 51:39Speaker 2: bye before playing Florida– I mean, if Georgia doesn't come
- 51:43Speaker 2: out foaming, I would be shocked.
- 51:45Speaker 1: Yeah, Scott, if you'll throw that back up again, the
- 51:46Speaker 1: Florida schedule, where they're, I mean, the game that they're
- 51:50Speaker 1: going to regret is that South Carolina game. And I
- 51:51Speaker 1: know South Carolina's playing better, but you had just laid
- 51:55Speaker 1: an egg at Missouri. You should have come back home and,
- 51:58Speaker 1: like you said, been frothing at the foaming at the
- 52:00Speaker 1: mouth or whatever for that game. And they lose to
- 52:03Speaker 1: South Carolina now. If they beat South Carolina, do they
- 52:07Speaker 1: also beat Texas?
- 52:08Speaker 2: I don't know. It's the second most head-scratching game in
- 52:11Speaker 2: the SEC this year behind Auburn beating Georgia.
- 52:14Speaker 1: Yeah, that South Carolina loss. Because if you had won
- 52:17Speaker 1: South Carolina and Texas, if you still beat Texas, you
- 52:20Speaker 1: could still absorb a loss with Georgia, Oklahoma, Kentucky, Vandy,
- 52:24Speaker 1: Florida State. And, I mean, at that point they've got
- 52:26Speaker 1: a shot. Right now I just don't think Florida can
- 52:28Speaker 1: get there.
- 52:28Speaker 8: Tennessee.
- 52:30Speaker 2: Tennessee.
- 52:32Speaker 1: Well, again, South Carolina's probably going to be a loss
- 52:34Speaker 1: they end up regretting.
- 52:37Speaker 2: How much, again, perception over a two-week period from going
- 52:41Speaker 2: into the Alabama game, they've got no shot, they win
- 52:43Speaker 2: the Alabama game. Well, damn, we've got a championship defense
- 52:46Speaker 2: and we've got a running back that can carry the
- 52:48Speaker 2: offense to losing to South Carolina.
- 52:50Speaker 1: Yeah, and you've still got Kentucky at Texas A & M,
- 52:53Speaker 1: LSU after this bye the next three weeks. You'd have
- 52:57Speaker 1: to earn it. You'd have to earn it, and that
- 52:59Speaker 1: feels like, again, We talk about Josh Heupel on the road.
- 53:03Speaker 1: A lot of people bring up Josh Heupel on the road.
- 53:05Speaker 1: True road games this year for Heupel. I don't know
- 53:07Speaker 1: why I said true road games. They've played no neutral sites. 45-24,
- 53:10Speaker 1: they beat Georgia Tech. But at Arkansas, Lance, they only
- 53:13Speaker 1: won by seven. At South Carolina, they lost. So Heupel
- 53:16Speaker 1: on the road is a real thing.
- 53:18Speaker 2: Let's take a look at Texas Tech after their first loss.
- 53:21Speaker 2: They dropped all the way to 75-1. You know, in
- 53:25Speaker 2: this regular season, you know, going into it, we talked
- 53:28Speaker 2: about they're going to be double digit favorites in every
- 53:30Speaker 2: single one of their games. They were a double digit
- 53:32Speaker 2: favorite this past weekend. They got blown out. Now, 75
- 53:37Speaker 2: to one. There's no way I would touch that.
- 53:38Speaker 1: Yeah, I would not touch it at all. And what
- 53:41Speaker 1: they've got left is Arizona. You very much like Arizona there.
- 53:46Speaker 1: West Virginia at Oak State at Baylor TCU. Not that
- 53:48Speaker 1: bad a schedule once they get past Arizona. If they
- 53:50Speaker 1: can survive that one, they can still get to the
- 53:52Speaker 1: Big 12 championship.
- 53:52Speaker 2: A couple more long shots just because it is interesting
- 53:55Speaker 2: where they are in this season. Kentucky 66-1.
- 53:59Speaker 1: People just still don't believe in Kentucky. Kentucky is your
- 54:01Speaker 1: technically their half-game lead. They are your leader in the SEC.
- 54:06Speaker 1: Going into the last week of October, and they're 66-1.
- 54:09Speaker 3: They're a top-10 team.
- 54:11Speaker 1: When's the last time you think you could get the
- 54:13Speaker 1: SEC leader going to October at 66-1?
- 54:15Speaker 2: Never, never.
- 54:16Speaker 1: And by the way, they've they've got a it's Kentucky
- 54:21Speaker 1: on a buy this week.
- 54:21Speaker 2: Is that right?
- 54:22Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 54:22Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 54:23Speaker 1: They got to buy this week. So they're going to
- 54:24Speaker 1: go into November in the SEC lead. Now, November is
- 54:28Speaker 1: challenging for them, Lance. I mean, you got to go
- 54:30Speaker 1: to Tennessee. You got to host Florida. You got to
- 54:32Speaker 1: go to Missouri. You got to host Louisville. That's a
- 54:34Speaker 1: challenging finish for them. But they're going to go to
- 54:36Speaker 1: November in the SEC lead, and nobody believes it.
- 54:39Speaker 2: This is what happens when you go to Central Florida
- 54:41Speaker 2: and lose a game. But BYU had 20 first-place votes
- 54:45Speaker 2: last week. Now they are 66-1 to win the national championship.
- 54:50Speaker 2: I wouldn't feel good about that. I would not either.
- 54:52Speaker 3: How about the last.
- 54:53Speaker 2: Undefeated team in the Big Ten or the SEC, UCLA? 75-1.
- 54:57Speaker 2: You don't believe them, do you? No. No. I do
- 55:00Speaker 2: not believe them. But I mean.
- 55:02Speaker 3: It's 75-1.
- 55:03Speaker 1: I mean, this is not to make the playoffs. This
- 55:05Speaker 1: is to win it all. Yeah.
- 55:07Speaker 3: Okay, sir.
- 55:08Speaker 2: Here's a slew of SEC teams, and I'll just go
- 55:10Speaker 2: in order of their odds. Right now, Texas 14-1.
- 55:15Speaker 1: Again, if I get first half Saturday night, Texas, I
- 55:18Speaker 1: don't hate that. If I get second half, I'm wasting
- 55:21Speaker 1: my money.
- 55:21Speaker 3: Alabama 12-1.
- 55:23Speaker 2: If I get... Can they run the football? That's all
- 55:27Speaker 2: I want to know. Right now, no.
- 55:28Speaker 8: And.
- 55:29Speaker 1: They'll get Del Gotti back at center. It doesn't look
- 55:32Speaker 1: like they're going to get Sanders back anytime soon at guard. So,
- 55:34Speaker 1: you know, they've still got some offensive line pieces they're.
- 55:37Speaker 2: Going to be missing. Yeah, this would be an interesting
- 55:38Speaker 2: one to take a flyer on if I believed in
- 55:40Speaker 2: the head coach, but I don't.
- 55:41Speaker 3: LSU's 11-1.
- 55:43Speaker 1: They appear to be peaking right now. Now, some would
- 55:45Speaker 1: argue Auburn was fool's gold after what they did in Athens.
- 55:50Speaker 1: So you've put too much stock into that. We'll see,
- 55:53Speaker 1: but LSU, they're playing some of their best football right now.
- 55:56Speaker 2: There's no doubt. Okay, here are your top five shortest
- 55:58Speaker 2: odds to win the national championship. It's 17-2 plus 850, basically,
- 56:03Speaker 2: the Indiana Hoosiers.
- 56:07Speaker 1: I mean, I think they're offensively challenged right now. I
- 56:10Speaker 1: think that's what's going to catch.
- 56:11Speaker 2: Up to them. But, you know, I mean, Klatt knows more,
- 56:13Speaker 2: and they talked about this. And even Cignetti talked about
- 56:15Speaker 2: going to a seventh-year guy because Hoover was so banged up.
- 56:18Speaker 2: So he almost got benched because he really couldn't even move.
- 56:21Speaker 2: I mean, he was in, obviously, writhing pain.
- 56:23Speaker 1: But was Hoover banged up against Nebraska?
- 56:25Speaker 8: I don't know.
- 56:25Speaker 2: They struggled offensively there.
- 56:26Speaker 1: Was he banged up against– I'm just saying, if you
- 56:28Speaker 1: get really good Josh Hoover with their ability to run
- 56:31Speaker 1: the football, with those receivers and that defense, who knows?
- 56:35Speaker 2: Behind Indiana, the Miami Hurricanes plus 650, 13-2.
- 56:37Speaker 3: I don't believe.
- 56:43Speaker 1: Well, I mean, Miami, I'm not sure how much I
- 56:46Speaker 1: believe in them, but here's the thing I would say
- 56:47Speaker 1: about Miami more than anybody you have said right now.
- 56:50Speaker 2: They're in the playoffs. Oh, for sure.
- 56:52Speaker 1: So there's no doubt you're going to, I mean, you're
- 56:54Speaker 1: not going to make that play right there and then
- 56:57Speaker 1: miss the playoffs and you're done from the jump.
- 56:59Speaker 2: Yeah, normally this deep in the season, you can't get
- 57:02Speaker 2: Ohio State at plus 550, but we know the injuries.
- 57:04Speaker 2: That's right. Backup quarterback. Margin of error is gone for
- 57:07Speaker 2: that team. And then we have the co-favorites, both at 19-4,
- 57:10Speaker 2: plus 475, the Georgia Bulldogs and Notre Dame. Can I
- 57:14Speaker 2: just say, I don't like any of those teams. I
- 57:16Speaker 2: don't either. I mean, I don't even know where I
- 57:18Speaker 2: would go. Again, if somebody else was coaching LSU, then
- 57:21Speaker 2: I don't trust Sam Leavitt. Like, Sam Leavitt in a
- 57:23Speaker 2: big game, all he's got to do is turn it
- 57:24Speaker 2: over one or two times. That's right.
- 57:26Speaker 1: And he's done that. Yeah, I don't like any of
- 57:29Speaker 1: those teams. I just don't like any of them. But
- 57:31Speaker 1: one of them is going to win the national championship.
- 57:33Speaker 1: We'll talk more about that cocktail party game coming up,
- 57:36Speaker 1: Florida and Georgia, when we return. Also, upset alert, not
- 57:40Speaker 1: too far away. Dunaway's got his pick in, so we'll all–
- 57:43Speaker 1: his pick from Ireland. We'll see if he's better from
- 57:45Speaker 1: Ireland than America. We'll all make our picks for an
- 57:48Speaker 1: upset alert coming up in the next hour as well.
- 57:50Speaker 1: It is the next round presented by Hard Rock Battle
- 57:52Speaker 1: at Sporting State.
- 57:54Speaker 2: You're sitting in my seat. Hey, Jimmy, we gave you
- 57:57Speaker 2: a seat to my new buddy. What's your name?
- 57:59Speaker 8: Bill.
- 58:00Speaker 2: My new buddy, Bill.
- 58:01Speaker 5: Bill here bet $ 5 to him and.
- 58:02Speaker 2: Won $ 3, 300 on hard luck bet. It's Bill's seat now, Jimmy.
- 58:09Speaker 2: Maybe I'll come back later. If you do, bring him water, Jim.
- 58:13Speaker 2: And a hot dog. You want a hot dog? Yeah,
- 58:15Speaker 2: I'll take a hot dog. Bill wants a hot dog.
- 58:16Speaker 2: Hot dog for Bill. Don't forget the relish.
- 58:23Speaker 1: Hour number two of the next round on Sports Day
- 58:24Speaker 1: presented by Hard Rock Bet. Hardrock.bet backslash clay is where
- 58:28Speaker 1: you go for a Hard Rock Bet. Cocktail party coming
- 58:31Speaker 1: up this weekend. This has been one of those SEC rivalries.
- 58:34Speaker 1: I think we are in agreement, the three of us,
- 58:36Speaker 1: on this. that feels like it should matter to me
- 58:39Speaker 1: more than it normally does. I've just never been able
- 58:42Speaker 1: to get invested in this rivalry for some reason.
- 58:44Speaker 2: I don't know why.
- 58:45Speaker 3: I'll tell you what the problem is.
- 58:47Speaker 2: It's these runs, like how dominant Georgia has been in
- 58:51Speaker 2: this run, how dominant Florida was. We've just never seen
- 58:55Speaker 2: where these two teams are really on equal footing. It
- 58:59Speaker 2: does feel that way.
- 59:00Speaker 1: There was a minute, I think, in Urban and Mark
- 59:02Speaker 1: Richt where they felt like it equalized a little bit.
- 59:06Speaker 2: I'm about to look at this.
- 59:07Speaker 1: So you say it's just been kind of streaky.
- 59:09Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 59:09Speaker 2: Been very, very streaky because I went to my first,
- 59:11Speaker 2: actually my only cocktail party in 1990. And I think
- 59:17Speaker 2: at that point, I think Florida had been rolling in
- 59:22Speaker 2: that series. And then I think it was all Florida
- 59:24Speaker 2: throughout the 90s. And then.
- 59:27Speaker 3: Georgia early on.
- 59:28Speaker 2: In the 2000s and then to Florida in the late
- 59:30Speaker 2: 2000s and then Georgia dominated.
- 59:33Speaker 9: 2012 is the only year I can think of that
- 59:35Speaker 9: this game really, really mattered towards the national championship.
- 59:40Speaker 1: And that was a 17-9 Georgia win. Wasn't 2020 a
- 59:42Speaker 1: big game, though?
- 59:43Speaker 2: 2020, yeah.
- 59:43Speaker 7: 44-28.
- 59:43Speaker 3: The winner went to the East. Same thing in 2012, though.
- 59:45Speaker 2: It was a... Florida was driving.
- 59:55Speaker 9: And it was a chance to go tied up and
- 59:57Speaker 9: go for two, like score a touchdown, go for two
- 1:00:00Speaker 9: to tie it up at 17 all. And I'm trying
- 1:00:03Speaker 9: to remember what the guy, the number 29 was a
- 1:00:06Speaker 9: good outside linebacker, pass rusher for Georgia.
- 1:00:09Speaker 2: Was in a league with the Steelers for a minute.
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: I can't remember what his name is, but.
- 1:00:13Speaker 9: He stripped the ball from Driscoll and it went out
- 1:00:17Speaker 9: of the back of the end zone for a touchback
- 1:00:18Speaker 9: and Georgia won.
- 1:00:19Speaker 2: And both were ranked in the top 10 at Well.
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: Georgia's won eight of the last nine. The COVID year
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: that you mentioned was the only Florida win since 2017,
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: or since 2016, I should say. So Georgia has dominated
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: this thing of late. Kirby Smart has dominated two rivals, Auburn,
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: who he just lost to for the first time. And
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: why say that? Actually, he lost to them in the
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: SEC Championship game, did he not? Was he the coach
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: there in 2017, Kirby?
- 1:00:43Speaker 2: Well, Auburn did win it. Auburn.
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: The year they.
- 1:00:46Speaker 2: Went to the SEC championship game. They beat number one
- 1:00:49Speaker 2: Georgia Auburn in the regular.
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: So first time since 2017. Kirby has dominated Auburn and
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: he's dominated Florida, two of their big rivals. They've only
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: won this game once since 2016.
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: It does feel like we're about to get in a
- 1:01:01Speaker 2: spot where this could be a really good rivalry. That
- 1:01:03Speaker 2: was my exact question.
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: So you feel that this rivalry is going to be
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: revived by John Sumrall?
- 1:01:09Speaker 2: I mean, Florida's just ahead of time right now. I mean, 5-2,
- 1:01:12Speaker 2: and I know there's ups and downs, and the South
- 1:01:14Speaker 2: Carolina's really head-scratching, but this has been a really, really
- 1:01:17Speaker 2: good Florida team for the most part through seven weeks.
- 1:01:20Speaker 2: And you just imagine what he's going to be able
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: to do in year two.
- 1:01:22Speaker 3: He can recruit. Now, can he recruit to Kirby's level?
- 1:01:25Speaker 2: We'll see.
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: Well, let's start with Georgia here. And the question I
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: would ask you, this is Georgia's first game since Auburn
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: beat them. Do you think bye week was good timing
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: or bad timing for them? Do you think they wanted
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: to play after the Auburn game or take a week
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: off after the Auburn game?
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: I think they've been banged up, especially at the running
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: back position.
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: So injury-wise, maybe it was positive. I just wonder mentality.
- 1:01:50Speaker 3: Yeah, mentality. I bet Kirby wanted to go right.
- 1:01:52Speaker 2: Back out there.
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: Yeah, I bet he did not want to sit on this.
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: One for two weeks.
- 1:01:55Speaker 3: And look, this is one you don't want to lose.
- 1:01:57Speaker 2: Like, Summerall grabbing the first cocktail party between these two
- 1:02:00Speaker 2: I think would be somewhat of a statement. But I
- 1:02:02Speaker 2: think Kirby knows that he's got the more talented team,
- 1:02:06Speaker 2: and this is a game that that they really need
- 1:02:09Speaker 2: to win, obviously, but I think they will win.
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: So here is Kirby Smart on the bye week, the
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: impact it has on this cocktail party.
- 1:02:18Speaker 2: What do you want to see from your team responding
- 1:02:20Speaker 2: to a loss in your last game?
- 1:02:21Speaker 8: You know, I want to see us improve. I mean,
- 1:02:26Speaker 8: regardless of the outcome of a game, that really doesn't matter.
- 1:02:30Speaker 8: I mean, the results are what people focus on, but it's,
- 1:02:33Speaker 8: the process that we try to focus on, which is like, okay,
- 1:02:36Speaker 8: what can we do better?
- 1:02:37Speaker 3: How do we not turn the ball over?
- 1:02:40Speaker 8: How do we, you know, stay away from dumb penalties?
- 1:02:43Speaker 2: And how do we tackle better?
- 1:02:44Speaker 3: You know, how do we get.
- 1:02:45Speaker 2: More turnovers so that our turnovers are less glaring?
- 1:02:49Speaker 8: Because if you get three and give three, you're net
- 1:02:52Speaker 8: zero and you're a lot better off. So I'm a
- 1:02:54Speaker 8: lot more interested in the improvement than I am just
- 1:02:58Speaker 8: the results.
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: Yeah, I get what he's saying there, but Ultimately, if
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: you're net zero against Georgia, you maybe feel like you've
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: won the game, really, in the sense of the turnovers. Like,
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: Georgia's a team that you view as protecting the football
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: and creating other teams' turnovers. And that was what won
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: the game for Auburn was Georgia couldn't do that against Auburn.
- 1:03:20Speaker 2: Yeah, I did feel like this Georgia team felt different
- 1:03:22Speaker 2: from last year's Georgia team. But after watching them against Auburn,
- 1:03:26Speaker 2: I mean, it just shows you that, you know, everybody
- 1:03:30Speaker 2: has chinks in the armor. but I just can't believe
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: that it was Gunnar Stockton. If it would have been
- 1:03:35Speaker 2: somewhat flukish, you had a couple of block kicks, you
- 1:03:38Speaker 2: had a tip pick six, but for Gunnar to go
- 1:03:41Speaker 2: out and play it, and I haven't heard anything because
- 1:03:44Speaker 2: a couple of Georgia fans were completely convinced, and I
- 1:03:47Speaker 2: know you heard this, that he was concussed.
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: Yeah, I heard the same thing about Keelan Russell. There
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: were some people that were saying that about him in
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: the Tennessee game. I think that's dangerous speculation, obviously. But
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: I heard it about Gunnar Stockton. I think the reason
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: people say that is when they see quarterbacks make extremely
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: uncharacteristic mistakes. They try to find a reason for it.
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: And a guy playing concussed would certainly be a reason.
- 1:04:11Speaker 2: Well, I mean, it was just out of character for
- 1:04:14Speaker 2: Gunnar to play like that. All right.
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: So on the flip side, speaking of quarterbacks, Lance. We
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: have seen Aaron Philo all season long. You would give
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: Aaron Philo what letter grade for what he's done at
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: Florida so far?
- 1:04:28Speaker 3: I would give Aaron Philo a C-plus.
- 1:04:33Speaker 2: All right, C-plus.
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: We saw Tramiel Jones in one game against Texas, and
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: what grade would you give him in that one?
- 1:04:39Speaker 3: I would give him an A-minus.
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: So do we have a good old-fashioned quarterback battle going
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: on right now?
- 1:04:44Speaker 2: I think we do.
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: Here's what John Summerall says about a good old-fashioned quarterback battle.
- 1:04:49Speaker 2: The quarterback situation going into this week, and did Aaron
- 1:04:53Speaker 2: practice at all during the bye, or what?
- 1:04:55Speaker 6: Yeah, so they both practiced. They both practiced today. Both
- 1:05:00Speaker 6: of them are available, I think, this week. You know,
- 1:05:06Speaker 6: I think everybody knows Aaron's status was kind of, as
- 1:05:09Speaker 6: we listed on the injury report on Wednesday.
- 1:05:11Speaker 2: Last week, questionable.
- 1:05:13Speaker 6: He could have been, he was available more in an
- 1:05:15Speaker 6: emergency capacity. I didn't feel comfortable, like, putting him in,
- 1:05:19Speaker 6: putting him in to go play.
- 1:05:21Speaker 2: Um, but both guys are available. Believe in both guys. Uh,
- 1:05:27Speaker 2: not going to name a starter today.
- 1:05:28Speaker 6: Like I know that's probably going to have been a big.
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: Point of conversation.
- 1:05:31Speaker 6: Like both, we need both those guys to be ready
- 1:05:33Speaker 6: to play.
- 1:05:34Speaker 2: That's what I'll say. And I do believe in both
- 1:05:36Speaker 2: of them being ready to play. I don't know. Uh, we've.
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: Sorry, kicking over my upset alert. We've, uh, had John
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: Summerall on the show a lot. John Summerall is a, uh,
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: a friend of the show, but I've not really paid
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: attention to his history on stuff like this. Don't know
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: if he'll name a starter in this game. I mean,
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: I don't know if there's a benefit to doing it.
- 1:05:57Speaker 2: I don't think there is a benefit to it, and
- 1:05:58Speaker 2: I wouldn't be surprised if both of these guys play.
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: Man, that's kind of what he hinted at right there.
- 1:06:03Speaker 2: I believe that he knows now, intelligent to kind of
- 1:06:06Speaker 2: look at the landscape and say, look, it's been a
- 1:06:08Speaker 2: really good year. We want to close this thing hard,
- 1:06:10Speaker 2: and I'm sure he wants to win every single game,
- 1:06:13Speaker 2: but let's get both of these guys reps. obviously try
- 1:06:16Speaker 2: to win the game and see what happens moving forward.
- 1:06:18Speaker 2: I mean, if they're able to win this game, they've
- 1:06:22Speaker 2: got a path.
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: Well, I was about to say, here's what I was
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: about to say, and I think you'll agree with me
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: on this. If Florida wins, there is a distinct path
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: for Florida to make the playoffs. And we'll get to
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: Georgia in a second. We'll stick with the Florida schedule.
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: If Florida wins, there's a distinct path for Florida to
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: make the playoffs and Because they host Oklahoma, although that
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: would be the biggest trap game in the history of
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: the SEC. If you have beaten Georgia and Texas in
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: your last two, and Oklahoma comes to your place, because
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: Oklahoma can yuck a game up just enough to beat you.
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: So that would be trap city. At Kentucky becomes a
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: really interesting game.
- 1:07:03Speaker 3: Yeah, that's the thing.
- 1:07:03Speaker 2: If you can get by the trap, and I think,
- 1:07:05Speaker 2: you know, I would say that Summerall's good at this.
- 1:07:08Speaker 2: But going into Missouri, you knew coming off the Ole
- 1:07:12Speaker 2: Miss win and how dominant they looked.
- 1:07:13Speaker 3: It was just out there for them to get blown out.
- 1:07:15Speaker 3: They did. Then the next week, you've got to come
- 1:07:17Speaker 3: back prepared.
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: They kind of got blown out again.
- 1:07:19Speaker 2: Yeah, you get blown out again. And then you circle
- 1:07:21Speaker 2: the wagons and you beat Texas. So... If they get
- 1:07:26Speaker 2: by Georgia, I think they would get by Oklahoma, and
- 1:07:28Speaker 2: then it really comes down to, damn, is Kentucky, Florida
- 1:07:32Speaker 2: for a postseason spot?
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: Because even if Kentucky loses to Tennessee prior to that,
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: Kentucky will only have the two losses. So if Florida wins,
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: there is a path to Florida to make the playoffs.
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: But here's the crazier part. If Florida wins, there's a
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: distinct path for Georgia to miss the playoffs. Now, try
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: selling me in the preseason that we're going to have
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: the playoffs without Oregon– Georgia, maybe Ohio State, maybe Alabama.
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: I mean, Georgia missing the playoffs, but look if they
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: lose this game, Lance. Their next game is a road
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: game at Ole Miss, which is, as we learned yesterday,
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: going to be a primetime game. They've still got to
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: host Missouri. They play a tricky road game at South Carolina.
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: There is a path to Georgia not making the playoffs
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: if they lose this game Saturday.
- 1:08:20Speaker 2: Well, you would add that to the list. I mean,
- 1:08:22Speaker 2: it's going to blow us away that we know Oregon
- 1:08:24Speaker 2: is done. That's right. Ohio State is right there knocking
- 1:08:29Speaker 2: on the door of being done. That's right.
- 1:08:32Speaker 3: If you threw.
- 1:08:33Speaker 2: Georgia in the mix, who else am I looking at?
- 1:08:36Speaker 2: So we've already had A & M fall from the
- 1:08:38Speaker 2: top ten. That's right. Oklahoma. Oklahoma.
- 1:08:43Speaker 3: And who was the other team that completely fell out?
- 1:08:45Speaker 2: Yeah, Oregon.
- 1:08:47Speaker 3: Oh, Texas.
- 1:08:47Speaker 2: Imagine if Texas, Georgia... Ohio State and Oregon all miss
- 1:08:53Speaker 2: the postseason. And Kentucky and UCLA, man.
- 1:08:56Speaker 3: And Indiana again.
- 1:08:58Speaker 2: And throw a... potentially, I mean, whoever from the Big 12.
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: Yeah, whatever random Big 12 team.
- 1:09:03Speaker 2: I think at least we feel good at this point
- 1:09:05Speaker 2: that it's not going to be Texas Tech, right?
- 1:09:07Speaker 3: So it's going to be new blood.
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: What if it's Arizona from the Big 12?
- 1:09:10Speaker 2: Could be Oklahoma State going from 1-11.
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: Well, if you had Kentucky, UCLA, and Oklahoma State in
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: this thing, that would be absolutely bonkers.
- 1:09:18Speaker 3: And I'm still going to throw Indiana.
- 1:09:19Speaker 2: I know they're the defending champions, but again, if you're
- 1:09:22Speaker 2: in that two- or three-year coma and you wake up.
- 1:09:25Speaker 2: I know. What is happening? So we'll see.
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: I'm more interested. I do wonder if everybody celebrates the
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: cocktail party being in Jacksonville. I've often wondered if that
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: is one reason I've never been able to plug into it.
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: It's just on TV, but.
- 1:09:42Speaker 2: I don't know why.
- 1:09:44Speaker 3: I thought about going this weekend.
- 1:09:46Speaker 2: Did you?
- 1:09:46Speaker 3: I did, just because.
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: For those that don't know, it's at Mercedes-Benz because they're
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: doing construction.
- 1:09:51Speaker 2: And I actually think it's a perfect storm because Florida
- 1:09:53Speaker 2: coming off the Texas win, Georgia coming off the Auburn loss,
- 1:09:57Speaker 2: you've got another neutral site, obviously more Georgia, but there's
- 1:10:02Speaker 2: such a buzz for this game. I mean, this is
- 1:10:04Speaker 2: basically a top 15 game, everything on the line, and
- 1:10:07Speaker 2: I think both fan bases... Just because it's kind of
- 1:10:10Speaker 2: a new setting, I think there's going to be a
- 1:10:11Speaker 2: lot of juice over there. Yeah. But you expect a
- 1:10:14Speaker 2: pro-Georgia crowd, though, right? Being in Atlanta? 75%.
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: And then next year it will be in Orlando.
- 1:10:20Speaker 3: But I would say this.
- 1:10:21Speaker 2: We went to a lot of SEC championship games, and
- 1:10:24Speaker 2: I want to say that I've probably seen seven or
- 1:10:25Speaker 2: eight where Florida's involved. They travel. Oh, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: They would pack it out for sure.
- 1:10:32Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: This game feels a little different for me this year.
- 1:10:36Speaker 2: I think I will.
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: I think I'll be more invested in Georgia and Florida.
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: You'll be able to play that game at hardrock.bet backslash clay.
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: When you sign up at hardrock.bet backslash clay, you're going
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: to be able to bet $ 5 and get up to
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: $ 500 and no sweat bets. That's all right there at
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: hardrock.bet backslash clay. You may know the Hard Rock name.
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: You may not know about Hard Rock Bet Sportsbook app.
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: It is Florida's only legal sportsbook, therefore the most trustworthy
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: option in the market. You can also find them in Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan,

- 1:11:13Speaker 1: most every night. Up next, that Thursday lookout for the
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: same game parlay. The same game parlay on Thursday. Profit

- 1:11:28Speaker 1: When you go to hardrock.bet backslash clay, hardrock.bet backslash clay. Yes, Tyler,
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: I've laughed at it every time. And then as I
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: read it, I realize how easy a mistake it is
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: to make. So I may not laugh at it as
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: much as I normally do. So when you look in
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: here at me and see if I'm laughing, I might
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: not be laughing when Jim returns.
- 1:11:45Speaker 2: It's a harder new thing.
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: Hardrock.bet backslash clay. to bet $ 5 and get those $ 500
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: no sweat bets. Do you think we make, and I'm
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: getting to a point here, do you think we put
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: way too much emphasis on kickoff times? So yesterday, the Alabama-Tennessee,
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: or the Alabama-LSU game, excuse me, gets announced as 2.30.
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: I'd gotten a heads up that that was coming, so
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: I tweeted something, and I got a ton of responses about,
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: you know, oh, this is LSU, you know, Alabama fans
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: are like, doesn't matter, whenever we play at Tiger Stadium,
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: We're going to win. We win at Tiger Stadium. LSU
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: fans are like, SEC hates us now. They don't give
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: us a primetime game. Some people will be like, Ole
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: Miss-Georgia should have been the primetime game anyway. Yada, yada, yada,
- 1:12:28Speaker 1: so on and so on and so on. But that
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: was a pretty big deal yesterday when the SEC announced 2-30.
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: And then right at the end of the show, utah
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: and byu the holy war next week that same day
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: yeah gets announced as an 11 a.m kick central time
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: which is 10 a.m local time for the holy war
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: brooks carter tells me after the show that did not
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: go over well brooks with the byu and utah fans
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: am i right about.
- 1:12:51Speaker 2: That absolutely not what are they saying they.
- 1:12:54Speaker 9: Are um there's a few um you know layered responses
- 1:12:59Speaker 9: here um One of the big ones was the fact
- 1:13:02Speaker 9: that they weren't even mad necessarily at the network. They
- 1:13:07Speaker 9: were pissed at the Big 12. So the Big 12
- 1:13:11Speaker 9: opted to move this game off of the traditional rivalry
- 1:13:15Speaker 9: weekends because of the potential of the teams rematching the
- 1:13:20Speaker 9: very next week in the Big 12 championship game. And
- 1:13:23Speaker 9: they moved it to the first week in November, which
- 1:13:26Speaker 9: has been branded as, I mean, Going back to the offseason,
- 1:13:30Speaker 9: this was one of the two weekends everyone circled as
- 1:13:32Speaker 9: having all these massive games. Miami-Notre Dame, Oregon-Ohio State, which
- 1:13:37Speaker 9: doesn't live up to the hype anymore, but preseason-wise it did.
- 1:13:40Speaker 4: Alabama-LSU, Georgia-Ole Miss, now.
- 1:13:43Speaker 9: Kentucky and Tennessee has turned into a top 15 matchup.
- 1:13:46Speaker 9: And then you've got a potential top 10 matchup with
- 1:13:49Speaker 9: BYU and Utah, and nothing really to do With that game,
- 1:13:54Speaker 9: other than, OK, I guess we've got to stick it
- 1:13:56Speaker 9: at noon Eastern time, which happens to be 10 a.m.
- 1:13:58Speaker 2: Local time.
- 1:13:58Speaker 9: So they're pissed at the Big 12 that they moved
- 1:14:01Speaker 9: it to a very packed weekend.
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: By the way, could have gotten the same kick time
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: on rivalry weekend.
- 1:14:06Speaker 2: There's no guarantee.
- 1:14:07Speaker 3: OK, back to your question, though.
- 1:14:09Speaker 1: I mean, do we put I get that the fans
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: are upset. It's 10 a.m. You can't even really tailgate
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: for that.
- 1:14:15Speaker 2: But you plan your day around this. Now, you and
- 1:14:17Speaker 2: I are a little bit different because we're going to,
- 1:14:19Speaker 2: you know, submerse ourselves into 14 to 15 hours of
- 1:14:22Speaker 2: straight college football. In my basement.
- 1:14:24Speaker 3: But there are certain people that are like, okay, let
- 1:14:26Speaker 3: me get out this.
- 1:14:27Speaker 2: Very, very crowded and jammed up schedule that Brooks has
- 1:14:30Speaker 2: put together here. Not enough space. And they're like, okay,
- 1:14:32Speaker 2: I've got to cut grass and I have got to
- 1:14:35Speaker 2: go get a new washing machine. Yeah. Unfortunately, you got
- 1:14:38Speaker 2: to do that on a college football Saturday. But like, okay,
- 1:14:40Speaker 2: I'm going to find the window where I'm going to
- 1:14:41Speaker 2: do this stuff. Yeah. So I do think it's important
- 1:14:44Speaker 2: for the fans. And then obviously if you're traveling to
- 1:14:45Speaker 2: the games, like there's so many people that plan their
- 1:14:49Speaker 2: weekends around a college football game.
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: Do you think the Alabama LSU game will play out
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: any differently because it's 2.30 and not prime time? And
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: will the Holy War play out any differently because it's
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: 10 a.m. local time and not a night game?
- 1:15:00Speaker 2: I do believe in the night game for the home
- 1:15:02Speaker 2: teams with really good atmospheres. Yeah, I think it's a
- 1:15:05Speaker 2: lot different. I think Alabama catches a break, much like
- 1:15:08Speaker 2: LSU caught a break. I know the Auburn fans were
- 1:15:10Speaker 2: there at 11 o'clock. But just imagine if that game
- 1:15:14Speaker 2: was at night, that pick doesn't get overturned, like starts
- 1:15:17Speaker 2: just rolling a little bit.
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: Yeah, I do think the crowd is different at night
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: in any stadium, any stadium.
- 1:15:22Speaker 9: Ryan, the last tinfoil hat theory on this, though, is
- 1:15:26Speaker 9: that I love these. The the kickoff time gets announced
- 1:15:31Speaker 9: as 10 a.m. yesterday after Pat McAfee goes on a rant.
- 1:15:38Speaker 4: Talking about how bad he hates the University of Utah.
- 1:15:40Speaker 2: Hey, that is a weird story, too. It is a
- 1:15:42Speaker 2: very weird story.
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: I watched, so I did not see the initial Instagram. Now,
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: let me, before I even get into this.
- 1:15:48Speaker 3: I don't even know the story you guys are talking about.
- 1:15:50Speaker 2: All right, hang on.
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: Before I even get into this, I'm going to say
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: up front, I like Pat McAfee. I find him entertaining.
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: You do not find him entertaining.
- 1:15:57Speaker 2: I do not find him entertaining at all, yeah.
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: So this discussion, as we have this, understand I like McAfee.
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: I find him entertaining. He does not bother me. He
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: bothers you immensely.
- 1:16:07Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: He bothers a lot of people. He's a very polarizing
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: figure in sports media. And there are a lot of
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: people that say he has ruined college game day. I
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: think you would go that far.
- 1:16:17Speaker 2: I'm not going that far. Look, he's loud.
- 1:16:19Speaker 3: He's a center of attention.
- 1:16:20Speaker 2: Whatever. Look, and... I respect the fact, I've said this
- 1:16:23Speaker 2: a million times, what he's been able to create. He's
- 1:16:25Speaker 2: got his own brand. He is dominating right now. But
- 1:16:29Speaker 2: I'm not going to not watch college games because of him.
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: But some people say they don't watch it because of him.
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: He's brought more of an edge to the show. Some
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: people have complained that there's more profanity in the show now.
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: They can't watch it with their kids. That's your personal thing.
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: That's all up to people. I will point out the
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: ratings have never been higher. It's hard to say he's
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: ruined it. When ESPN each week is doing a victory
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: lap on it, look how good our ratings were this
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: week for Gander.
- 1:16:54Speaker 2: Again, they're not paying him $ 50 million a year. For
- 1:16:57Speaker 2: no reason, right? The ratings aren't there. Yeah.
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: So I like Pat McAfee. You're not a big fan.
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: All that aside, I just wanted to set the table
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: with that as we give our reactions. There was an
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: Instagram video shared on the Utah Instagram, the University of
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: Utah Instagram page.
- 1:17:16Speaker 4: The official university account.
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: Not some random fan account, not somebody just sharing it.
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: And it's a student walking around with a microphone asking
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: for people to do Pat McAfee impersonations.
- 1:17:27Speaker 2: I have seen the video.
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: There's one guy that's like, he's probably going to say
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: something corny like, Houston, we have a problem.
- 1:17:33Speaker 2: I'm taking Utah. And then there's a.
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: Guy that's like, Pat, man, don't take your shirt off.
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: People are going to be yelling for you to take
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: your shirt off. Don't take your shirt off. So Pat
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: McAfee was like, man, I saw it right before I
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: went on stage. One guy's calling me corny. One guy's
- 1:17:45Speaker 1: calling me a creep for taking my shirt off, which
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: I never heard Brooks, the guy, use the phrase he's
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: a creep.
- 1:17:50Speaker 2: Maybe I missed that. He didn't.
- 1:17:51Speaker 9: He never said it. He never used the word creepy, basically.
- 1:17:55Speaker 9: I mean, maybe he.
- 1:17:57Speaker 4: insinuated that, but he.
- 1:17:58Speaker 2: Never outlined it. What is the purpose for taking the
- 1:18:00Speaker 2: shirt off? I don't know. Oh, it's to get attention? Yeah.
- 1:18:03Speaker 2: It's just his character. It's part of his shtick now. Yeah,
- 1:18:05Speaker 2: it's his shtick.
- 1:18:06Speaker 1: I mean, he's like a wrestler. I mean, he's involved
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: in wrestling. It's like Bert Kreischer.
- 1:18:09Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: Yeah, why does Bert Kreischer do it?
- 1:18:13Speaker 2: Look, it was to show he was fat and get
- 1:18:14Speaker 2: the audience comfortable, but I think that took a life
- 1:18:17Speaker 2: of its own. That's right. But it's not like Pat
- 1:18:19Speaker 2: McAfee needs more attention. It is very, very weird that
- 1:18:23Speaker 2: we're going to skin off for.
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: A college football show. I don't disagree, but he does it,
- 1:18:26Speaker 1: and he's done it for years. Well, he says on
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: his show yesterday, and then you had the kicking situation,
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: which I think you did see that one, right?
- 1:18:34Speaker 2: Yeah. You don't like the kick. No. Because it's like, okay,
- 1:18:39Speaker 2: let's give him another chance.
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: Not this week, because McAfee got pissed. So they pull
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: a girl out to do the kick, and McAfee's all right,
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: we're going to be kicking for $ 1 million. And she's like, wait, wait, wait, wait.
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: The BYU kid got the kick for $ 3 million last week.
- 1:18:52Speaker 2: She didn't say that.
- 1:18:53Speaker 7: 100%.
- 1:18:53Speaker 2: She did say that. 100%. Now, you see McAfee's side
- 1:18:57Speaker 2: on that one. Somebody had a dating problem with that one? God.
- 1:19:01Speaker 2: You say my allowance is what?
- 1:19:03Speaker 10: We're going to Chili's tonight?
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: She said it good-naturedly, but she did bring up the
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: fact that the BYU guy. And McAfee basically said, well,
- 1:19:10Speaker 1: if you can find two billionaires in this audience that
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: want to donate another million, go at it.
- 1:19:14Speaker 2: He said that?
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: Yeah, because that's what had happened at BYU. So anyway,
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: so all that as a backdrop, at the end of
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: when they're making their picks— McAfee said something along the
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: lines of, you know, being here at Utah, I may
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: never come back or I hope we never come back
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: or something like that. So he was right at the
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: end of the show, basically said, I hope we never
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: come back. And that was Saturday.
- 1:19:36Speaker 2: That was Saturday.
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: And then on his show yesterday, he goes even deeper
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: and even invokes, not by name, but the Charlie Kirk situation.
- 1:19:46Speaker 9: He references the fact that how uncomfortable he felt and
- 1:19:51Speaker 9: then it's had him start thinking about has there been anything,
- 1:19:55Speaker 9: you know, happen with significant happen on a college.
- 1:19:59Speaker 2: Campus in Utah recently?
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: Yeah, basically he said, like, if it had been just
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: some random kid sharing the YouTube or sharing the Instagram,
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: that's fine. He goes, but it was the school. And
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: I'm like, man, the school's just generating all this, you know,
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: all this hate against me. And I just start thinking,
- 1:20:17Speaker 1: was there another campus in Utah where, you know, things
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: like that happened. And I mean, he's referencing the Charlie.
- 1:20:24Speaker 3: I get that.
- 1:20:25Speaker 2: But like, what is, we were a long way away
- 1:20:27Speaker 2: from that. Where is the correlation? Is he putting himself
- 1:20:29Speaker 2: on that same pedestal? Like, I don't know.
- 1:20:32Speaker 3: You're putting me in harm's.
- 1:20:33Speaker 2: Way by throwing these words out on a public account?
- 1:20:37Speaker 4: The direct quote he had, I think the biggest issue.
- 1:20:39Speaker 2: I didn't realize he had thin skin like that.
- 1:20:41Speaker 1: I'm surprised at how thin his skin is.
- 1:20:43Speaker 2: Geez, man. I mean, he's in a great spot.
- 1:20:45Speaker 9: The direct quote he had of why he had the
- 1:20:48Speaker 9: biggest issue that he had with the university putting that
- 1:20:50Speaker 9: out is, we're about to go on air and do
- 1:20:53Speaker 9: a three-hour infomercial for your school, and the school puts
- 1:20:56Speaker 9: out a video that is basically bashing me.
- 1:20:59Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:21:01Speaker 2: His take on that.
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: And he has shown some thin skin of late because
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: he gets criticized by the New York Times and he's
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: brought that up on the show. There was another outlet
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: that criticized him and he brought that up on the show.
- 1:21:13Speaker 2: I mean, if you could have fun with it, but
- 1:21:15Speaker 2: like there's no need for him to even address it.
- 1:21:17Speaker 3: He's in a better spot than the New York Times.
- 1:21:19Speaker 3: I agree.
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: I'd buy Pat McAfee's company before I buy the New
- 1:21:22Speaker 1: York Times.
- 1:21:23Speaker 2: Yeah, I just I mean, my advice to him, not
- 1:21:26Speaker 2: that he needs any is like. What was the name
- 1:21:27Speaker 2: of his rap album, too? Oh, I don't know. I
- 1:21:30Speaker 2: have no earthly idea what the name of his album was.
- 1:21:32Speaker 4: It was something related to people hating him.
- 1:21:34Speaker 2: Mute and move on. Yeah, I don't... That's why, like,
- 1:21:38Speaker 2: anybody that comes after me, I mute you. I'll never
- 1:21:40Speaker 2: see you again.
- 1:21:40Speaker 10: The diary of a polarizing figure.
- 1:21:43Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: I thought it was a country album.
- 1:21:45Speaker 2: Was it rap? I think it's rap.
- 1:21:47Speaker 10: It's a mix of mainstream country, rock, hip-hop, and rap influences.
- 1:21:52Speaker 10: So it's basically like.
- 1:21:54Speaker 7: Let me grab this producer to make a song for
- 1:21:56Speaker 7: me because I.
- 1:21:57Speaker 10: Got half an idea.
- 1:21:58Speaker 2: What did you say the name of it was?
- 1:22:00Speaker 10: The Diary of a Polarizing Figure.
- 1:22:02Speaker 4: Sounds like the diarrhea of a polarizing figure.
- 1:22:04Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, when you run those together. By the way,
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: there was speculation, and I don't think it had any
- 1:22:09Speaker 1: sort of basis. It's just tinfoil hat stuff. That that
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: was part of the Troy Aikman situation is they wouldn't
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: give him a new contract because he refused to promote
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: Pat McAfee's album. There's zero chance that that's true.
- 1:22:23Speaker 2: Oh, my gosh. No, I mean, it was a tinfoil
- 1:22:25Speaker 2: hat thing.
- 1:22:28Speaker 3: Insecure, maybe.
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: I'm surprised he's that thin-skinned. The New York Times says something.
- 1:22:34Speaker 1: Who reads the New York Times?
- 1:22:35Speaker 2: I have no idea. I think Jim Dunaway does.
- 1:22:37Speaker 1: What do you think the crossover is between New York
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: Times readers and critics? college game day watchers that three
- 1:22:46Speaker 1: percent it's a pretty small crowd you think.
- 1:22:47Speaker 13: There's a demographic of pat mcafee fans and yeah that's
- 1:22:51Speaker 13: the even further demographic part um no but to go
- 1:22:55Speaker 13: back to the original point there are some people now
- 1:22:58Speaker 13: there's some tinfoil hat there of people thinking that because
- 1:23:01Speaker 13: pat mcafee works for espn that he tanked this thing
- 1:23:04Speaker 13: and that's when.
- 1:23:05Speaker 4: Oh so they're kicking their game at 10 o'clock that's.
- 1:23:08Speaker 2: Pretty funny yeah I mean, why would you not have
- 1:23:11Speaker 2: that theory, right?
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: I mean, I kind of see it now.
- 1:23:14Speaker 2: I mean, there are two people that run ESPN. That
- 1:23:16Speaker 2: is Pat McAfee and Stephen A. Smith, right? That's true, yeah.
- 1:23:18Speaker 2: Stephen A.
- 1:23:19Speaker 1: Does not care what time the Holy War kicks.
- 1:23:20Speaker 14: I guess Joe Buck to a degree now. All right,
- 1:23:24Speaker 14: we will do upset alert when we return. It is
- 1:23:26Speaker 14: the next round on Sporting State presented by Hard Rock Bet.
- 1:23:33Speaker 2: Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. This is Coach's chair. We protect
- 1:23:36Speaker 2: Coach's chair. Do we Hard Rock Bet? Protects Coach's account.
- 1:23:39Speaker 2: Hard Rock Bet keeps Coach's info safe.
- 1:23:42Speaker 4: Hard Rock Bet keeps Coach's money safe.
- 1:23:44Speaker 2: And we keep Coach safe. Hey, fellas. Coach. Coach. How
- 1:23:51Speaker 2: about that protection? Can I grab a wing? Coach's wings.
- 1:23:54Speaker 2: Guess I'll sit on the ground. That's where Coach puts
- 1:23:56Speaker 2: his feet.
- 1:23:57Speaker 3: Safe and secure betting from the very first tap.
- 1:23:59Speaker 2: Great to meet you, Coach. It was Coach's pleasure.
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: It is the next round on Sports Day presented by
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: Hard Rock Bet. It is time for Upset Alert. We're
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: about to get to that, show you the standing, show
- 1:24:08Speaker 1: you the rules, show you all those things. After, Lance
- 1:24:11Speaker 1: tells us about our friends at Clay Travis Law. Hey,
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: accidents do not wait for a good time.
- 1:24:16Speaker 2: One bad moment, a wreck, a fall, a doctor who
- 1:24:17Speaker 2: wasn't paying attention, and suddenly you're fighting an insurance company
- 1:24:20Speaker 2: that does this every single day. That's why Clay started
- 1:24:23Speaker 2: Clay Travis Law. Built a firm around one idea. People
- 1:24:25Speaker 2: deserve someone willing to pay attention, ask those hard questions,
- 1:24:28Speaker 2: and push back. when things don't add up. Experienced trial

- 1:24:42Speaker 2: Honesty. They're not going to sugarcoat your case you're going
- 1:24:45Speaker 2: to hear what it's actually worth not what you want

- 1:24:49Speaker 2: no hassle just tell them your story go to claytravislaw.com
- 1:24:52Speaker 2: call 877-222-4444 that's claytravislaw.com no case too big or too small.
- 1:25:00Speaker 1: All right each week we do the upset alert here
- 1:25:02Speaker 1: on the show scott i forget the order in which
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: we do this do we do the rules first or
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: the standings first.
- 1:25:08Speaker 5: We go rules first.
- 1:25:09Speaker 2: All right, rules first.
- 1:25:11Speaker 1: Here are the rules for Upset Alert each week. Just
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: so you know, the needle we are having to thread,
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: the minimum point spread is four and a half. You
- 1:25:21Speaker 1: get five points for the cover. If you happen to
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: win outright, you get five points plus whatever the spread is.
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: We just add the spread right in there plus the
- 1:25:29Speaker 1: five points. for an outright win, which we get a
- 1:25:32Speaker 1: lot of, by the way, on this show. This show
- 1:25:34Speaker 1: historically has been pretty good at doing these upset alerts.
- 1:25:37Speaker 1: Let's see where the standings are and see how good
- 1:25:38Speaker 1: we have been. After last week, oh, the Brown Bandit
- 1:25:42Speaker 1: is opening.
- 1:25:42Speaker 2: Up the lead.
- 1:25:44Speaker 1: He got an outright winner with Minnesota upending Iowa. That
- 1:25:49Speaker 1: was an outright winner for the Brown Bandits. So he's
- 1:25:52Speaker 1: got a 14-point lead on ULT. Did you win outright
- 1:25:55Speaker 1: last week?
- 1:25:56Speaker 2: I did not. I had North Dakota State plus the
- 1:25:59Speaker 2: four and a half. They lost by five. So I
- 1:26:01Speaker 2: almost got me a cover, but not quite.
- 1:26:04Speaker 5: Brown, you were the only one that scored at all.
- 1:26:06Speaker 2: Oh, wow. How about that?
- 1:26:07Speaker 1: Dunaway had Michigan State. He couldn't get the ball across
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: the goal line. Neither could Michigan State, hardly. Forrester and
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: Brooks bringing up the rear. But, as you can see
- 1:26:16Speaker 1: in the parentheses, we have had, what is that, 6, 8, 10,
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: 12 total outright winners this year. All right, so let's
- 1:26:26Speaker 1: start in the basement there with Brooks. Brooks finally got
- 1:26:29Speaker 1: an outright winner, and then he got two straight, and
- 1:26:30Speaker 1: then got blanked. So, Brooks, where are we going this week?
- 1:26:35Speaker 2: By the way, I went way off the board last week. Yeah,
- 1:26:37Speaker 2: you did.
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: You had some random game, didn't you?
- 1:26:40Speaker 2: It was Mountain West action. Northern Illinois at home versus Hawaii.
- 1:26:45Speaker 3: They got dick kicked.
- 1:26:46Speaker 2: God, they did, man. It was awful.
- 1:26:49Speaker 1: That was the game I told you if it was
- 1:26:51Speaker 1: in my backyard, I wouldn't go watch it.
- 1:26:52Speaker 2: Oh, I mean, you couldn't have paid me. You couldn't
- 1:26:54Speaker 2: pay me money to go watch that game. I mean,
- 1:26:56Speaker 2: the combined record was like 1-13, right?
- 1:26:58Speaker 9: Yes, it was 0-6 versus 1-6, and Hawaii had the
- 1:27:02Speaker 9: one win. They came in and won 56-21. Um, and
- 1:27:05Speaker 9: a nine 30 body clock game. I was shocked by how,
- 1:27:10Speaker 9: not just the fact they won by, by how much, um,
- 1:27:13Speaker 9: this week I am going to roll with, uh, you know,
- 1:27:16Speaker 9: a couple of years ago, uh, when South Carolina wound
- 1:27:21Speaker 9: up finishing nine and three, they won their last six
- 1:27:23Speaker 9: ball games. If you look at their schedule right now,
- 1:27:25Speaker 9: it actually stacks up pretty similarly.
- 1:27:27Speaker 2: Uh, and they're playing really good football.
- 1:27:30Speaker 9: Uh, when we're sellers is playing the best that he
- 1:27:32Speaker 9: has played since, uh, That 2023 season and I'm sorry,
- 1:27:38Speaker 9: 2024 season. I'm going to take them plus five and
- 1:27:41Speaker 9: a half against the Oklahoma Sooners this week as my
- 1:27:44Speaker 9: upset alert.
- 1:27:44Speaker 3: I think you might have jumped on them just a
- 1:27:46Speaker 3: little too late.
- 1:27:47Speaker 2: Oh, you think so, Lance?
- 1:27:50Speaker 1: You like the other side of that? Is that what
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: you're saying?
- 1:27:52Speaker 2: It's a tough game because you can't trust Oklahoma. You
- 1:27:55Speaker 2: just can't. You cannot. And South Carolina is, well, I'll
- 1:27:59Speaker 2: give you a definition for South Carolina in a little bit.
- 1:28:01Speaker 8: Okay, yeah.
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: So we're going to play SEC Word Association coming up
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: a little bit later on. So six and a half there. Technically,
- 1:28:06Speaker 1: Dunaway is Dunaway next in the standings. I forgot the standings, Scott.
- 1:28:09Speaker 2: I think Scott was.
- 1:28:10Speaker 1: Well, yeah, but Scott's got the animation.
- 1:28:12Speaker 2: We like to do that.
- 1:28:13Speaker 1: Let's go to Dunaway next. Now, Dunaway is in Ireland.
- 1:28:17Speaker 1: I texted him this morning because I was going to
- 1:28:19Speaker 1: draw it for him. And I was like, hey, give
- 1:28:23Speaker 1: me your upset alert. And he starts texting me about
- 1:28:26Speaker 1: the trip to Ireland.
- 1:28:27Speaker 3: And you're like, I can get two shits.
- 1:28:29Speaker 1: I'm just like, give me your upset alert. Finally, he said,
- 1:28:32Speaker 1: I sent it to the boys last night to surprise you.
- 1:28:34Speaker 1: So here's the surprise from Dunaway. I don't know what
- 1:28:37Speaker 1: to expect here. So boys, take it away. So he had,
- 1:28:41Speaker 1: oh my gosh.
- 1:28:42Speaker 5: Some might say it's a little too perfect.
- 1:28:44Speaker 2: That's a good looking Trojan. That is a good looking Trojan.
- 1:28:49Speaker 3: Well, I know USC's got no shot.
- 1:28:51Speaker 2: Fight on. I cannot believe this.
- 1:28:55Speaker 3: This is why we got to have communication.
- 1:28:57Speaker 2: We don't have to have communication. We can all end
- 1:29:00Speaker 2: up on the same one. I think that's probably, it's
- 1:29:03Speaker 2: not as fun. I agree. But I mean, I mean,
- 1:29:06Speaker 2: it's why I skipped that, but I, I killed myself.
- 1:29:08Speaker 2: I would have kept pace right there with the brown bandit.
- 1:29:10Speaker 2: If I would have gone with the golden gophers, but
- 1:29:13Speaker 2: I decided to take one for the team.
- 1:29:14Speaker 1: And now noble old Lance took one for the team.
- 1:29:18Speaker 1: So Dunaway likes USC at seven and a half. The
- 1:29:22Speaker 1: line has moved since he made that play. Um, So
- 1:29:26Speaker 1: seven and a half. Boy, that was a dang good
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: drawing by him. That looked just like the trailer. I
- 1:29:30Speaker 1: texted him back.
- 1:29:31Speaker 2: Huh? Go ahead, Scott.
- 1:29:32Speaker 5: I said spot on.
- 1:29:33Speaker 2: It's flawless. It really was.
- 1:29:35Speaker 10: Really good handwriting, too.
- 1:29:37Speaker 2: Jim does have good penmanship. I will give that to him.
- 1:29:39Speaker 3: It's weird. He's got good penmanship, but he can't really draw.
- 1:29:41Speaker 2: Yeah, that's true. You say he has good penmanship. Does
- 1:29:44Speaker 2: he write well in cursive or just like standard? He's standard. Standard.
- 1:29:47Speaker 2: Who uses cursive anymore? My late grandmother did.
- 1:29:52Speaker 1: I think grandmother was the key to that sentence.
- 1:29:55Speaker 2: I didn't even like using it when they tried to
- 1:29:59Speaker 2: make us use it.
- 1:30:00Speaker 1: I don't think anybody writes it.
- 1:30:01Speaker 7: They kept telling us that Some teachers and professors would
- 1:30:04Speaker 7: only accept things in cursive. And then when you get
- 1:30:07Speaker 7: out into the real world with a real job, you'll
- 1:30:09Speaker 7: have to write in cursive. I haven't I haven't wrote
- 1:30:12Speaker 7: in cursive since third grade.
- 1:30:13Speaker 2: Well, they don't even teach anymore. If if we were
- 1:30:15Speaker 2: able to put that out, I think Brock might give
- 1:30:17Speaker 2: him a point. Oh, absolutely.
- 1:30:19Speaker 1: But Jim will be ineligible for Brock's points this week.
- 1:30:22Speaker 1: All right, so that's Dunaway's picks. He likes our Dunaway's pick.
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: He likes USC, the 7.5 for Jimmy there. LT, where
- 1:30:28Speaker 1: are you headed?
- 1:30:30Speaker 2: I am going out west, and I think this is
- 1:30:34Speaker 2: an interesting game. Everybody is talking up to Marcus Shepard
- 1:30:37Speaker 2: and what this Oregon State team has been able to do.
- 1:30:40Speaker 2: It's a fun offense, but Fresno State catching the 5.5
- 1:30:43Speaker 2: at home.
- 1:30:45Speaker 2: They're coming off back-to-back one-possession losses against Boise and at
- 1:30:48Speaker 2: San Diego State. I think this is a really, really
- 1:30:51Speaker 2: tough spot for Oregon State. I think Fresno wins the
- 1:30:53Speaker 2: game outright. I think I'm about to cash in on
- 1:30:55Speaker 2: 10.5 points here.
- 1:30:56Speaker 1: I like the angry dog, the angry bulldog.
- 1:30:58Speaker 2: Not great, but you know what it is, right? You do.
- 1:31:01Speaker 1: You know it is Fresno State's logo, and then you
- 1:31:03Speaker 1: write Fresno State in there. So I definitely know it's
- 1:31:06Speaker 1: Fresno State's logo, but that is one pissed-off bulldog.
- 1:31:09Speaker 2: If I wouldn't have put Fresno on there, you would
- 1:31:10Speaker 2: have known still, right? Probably so.
- 1:31:12Speaker 1: I probably still know that's Fresno State plus the 5.5.
- 1:31:14Speaker 1: All right, so LT goes to Fresno State. Scott always
- 1:31:18Speaker 1: goes big for his upset alert. Who we got this week, Scotty?
- 1:31:21Speaker 15: All right, we are going to Tampa. Did you guys
- 1:31:24Speaker 15: know that Brian Hartline has a bunch of tattoos?
- 1:31:27Speaker 1: You know, I did not know that initially.
- 1:31:29Speaker 5: He's going to get one more this weekend.
- 1:31:31Speaker 3: Told you he's got a sleeve.
- 1:31:33Speaker 15: Blaze is going to put the wrong image on him.
- 1:31:36Speaker 15: He's going to get the UAB tat.
- 1:31:39Speaker 2: The Blazers are going to. Get the dub. Are they
- 1:31:42Speaker 2: going to win outright? You think they're going to win outright?
- 1:31:43Speaker 2: I think Hartline is the first sitting coach, at least
- 1:31:47Speaker 2: with a, I'll call South Florida a major program right now.
- 1:31:50Speaker 2: To have a sleeve tat. Yeah. I don't think there's
- 1:31:52Speaker 2: anybody else out there. Unless they wear long sleeves and
- 1:31:56Speaker 2: we just never see it. I still think it would
- 1:31:57Speaker 2: come out somehow because you remember when Brett Bielema has
- 1:32:00Speaker 2: an Iowa tattoo, a Hawkeye on his ankle.
- 1:32:03Speaker 1: Dan Lanning had the tattoo dedicated to his wife or
- 1:32:05Speaker 1: something like that. That's a big win for Mort.
- 1:32:08Speaker 2: All right.
- 1:32:08Speaker 1: So Scott likes UAB plus the eight and a half.
- 1:32:10Speaker 2: Go Blazers. What's up, boys? Nobody's here to introduce me
- 1:32:15Speaker 2: this week. I just got to go right to character.
- 1:32:18Speaker 4: Oh, the Brown Bandits.
- 1:32:19Speaker 2: Hey, Brown Bandits here. It's Brown Bandits here. How's everybody
- 1:32:23Speaker 2: doing today? All right.
- 1:32:29Speaker 3: How are the picks outside of the upset alert?
- 1:32:31Speaker 2: Duff Room. Yeah, we don't care. How is the Brown
- 1:32:34Speaker 2: Bandit doing with his mega picks and his 100-star locks.
- 1:32:39Speaker 1: I flew here private today. Does that answer your question?
- 1:32:41Speaker 3: I thought you were always private.
- 1:32:42Speaker 2: PJ. Well, I mean, yeah.
- 1:32:45Speaker 1: Flew the PJ, still running out there at the airport.
- 1:32:48Speaker 2: Got to get back. There was a rumor that you
- 1:32:50Speaker 2: owed a bunch of people money and they took one
- 1:32:52Speaker 2: of your fingers off.
- 1:32:55Speaker 1: That's a good line. Probably could have worked that in.
- 1:32:58Speaker 1: Probably could have worked that into the bit this week. But, nope,
- 1:33:01Speaker 1: still got all my fingers right here. Just had an
- 1:33:04Speaker 1: unfortunate accident. Accident in the kitchen over the weekend watching
- 1:33:07Speaker 1: a little football there, Lance. Knife safety is important.
- 1:33:10Speaker 2: One would ask you why you're in the kitchen and
- 1:33:12Speaker 2: your wife's not doing that. Yeah, well, this is probably
- 1:33:14Speaker 2: a good relationship.
- 1:33:15Speaker 10: I thought the bandit could afford a personal chef.
- 1:33:17Speaker 2: Yeah, you would think that.
- 1:33:18Speaker 3: Or even a drink maker.
- 1:33:19Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. That's right.
- 1:33:22Speaker 1: Cup bearer. Cup bearer was off on Saturday. All right,
- 1:33:25Speaker 1: let's cut to the chase right here, boys. The one
- 1:33:27Speaker 1: thing we've learned about college football is if it doesn't
- 1:33:29Speaker 1: make sense, as Vinnie Verno used to say, it makes sense.
- 1:33:33Speaker 1: The one thing that does not make sense this week
- 1:33:35Speaker 1: is the fact that Jim Dunaway is on Southern Cal.
- 1:33:37Speaker 1: You know why that doesn't make sense?
- 1:33:39Speaker 3: Because you want to be on them.
- 1:33:41Speaker 1: Because I, too, am on Southern Cal.
- 1:33:43Speaker 2: Southern Cal goes to.
- 1:33:46Speaker 3: That's pretty good blocked off.
- 1:33:48Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 1:33:49Speaker 3: You guys help me out.
- 1:33:50Speaker 2: The Brown Bandit seems like somebody on the go all
- 1:33:53Speaker 2: the time, but it's almost like he used a rule
- 1:33:55Speaker 2: or something here. Straight lines.
- 1:33:58Speaker 10: I mean, yeah, you used a straight edge of some sort.
- 1:34:00Speaker 1: Is that against the rules? Scott showed the rules earlier
- 1:34:04Speaker 1: and did not say no straight edges.
- 1:34:07Speaker 2: I'll add it for next week.
- 1:34:08Speaker 1: Add it for next week. No straight edges next week.
- 1:34:10Speaker 10: That is a solid interlocking SC.
- 1:34:12Speaker 2: Thank you very much.
- 1:34:13Speaker 3: I mean, not as good as the full Trojan head.
- 1:34:15Speaker 2: Not as good as the full Trojan head. That's what
- 1:34:17Speaker 2: Jimmy Dunaway did.
- 1:34:18Speaker 9: I have no issues with using a ruler or a
- 1:34:20Speaker 9: straight edge to draw with.
- 1:34:22Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 1:34:23Speaker 4: We've had some people take their homework home.
- 1:34:26Speaker 2: That's true.
- 1:34:27Speaker 3: Observation is all it was.
- 1:34:29Speaker 2: Very straight. I agree with you, Lance. Very straight lines.
- 1:34:32Speaker 1: Southern Cal, he's off me burning through the markers. Now
- 1:34:35Speaker 1: he's on me using a straight edge.
- 1:34:36Speaker 3: No, I was about to bring up the marker.
- 1:34:38Speaker 2: It's a lot of red. It's a lot of red.
- 1:34:41Speaker 2: You could have scaled down the SEs. Let's use the
- 1:34:44Speaker 2: entire board. That's right.
- 1:34:46Speaker 1: Almost didn't leave enough room for the six and a half.
- 1:34:49Speaker 2: Going to need a ruling. Dunaway's got it at seven
- 1:34:51Speaker 2: and a half.
- 1:34:51Speaker 5: I was going to say, we got to do some.
- 1:34:53Speaker 2: I'll do it right here.
- 1:34:55Speaker 3: I am going to give.
- 1:34:55Speaker 2: Current is six and a half. Just looked.
- 1:34:57Speaker 3: Okay, well, then it's six and a half.
- 1:34:58Speaker 2: Six and a half.
- 1:34:59Speaker 3: Dunaway goes back to six and a half.
- 1:35:00Speaker 1: All right, we're at six and a half. Everybody playing
- 1:35:01Speaker 1: Southern Cal at six and a half. So that's my play,
- 1:35:04Speaker 1: Southern Cal. Six and a half points as you, as the, the,
- 1:35:09Speaker 1: the Ohio State University, or as Gus Johnson calls them,
- 1:35:13Speaker 1: the world famous Buckeyes, Ohio State University, comes to the
- 1:35:18Speaker 1: mausoleum to take on Southern Cal. They're giving me and
- 1:35:22Speaker 1: Dunaway six and a half points, Tyler Johns.
- 1:35:24Speaker 2: We don't need them! If it doesn't make sense, it
- 1:35:28Speaker 2: makes sense.
- 1:35:28Speaker 1: Southern Cal wins outright over Ohio State. But I'll still
- 1:35:32Speaker 1: take the same thing.
- 1:35:32Speaker 2: I don't know why the Brown Bandit says this one
- 1:35:34Speaker 2: doesn't make sense on the number.
- 1:35:36Speaker 1: No, if it doesn't make sense, it's Southern Cal wins.
- 1:35:39Speaker 1: Southern Cal winning doesn't make sense.
- 1:35:41Speaker 3: No, winning the game outright.
- 1:35:42Speaker 2: Winning the game outright. But I will tell you, if
- 1:35:45Speaker 2: Wisconsin would have won that game 24-21, which they didn't.
- 1:35:49Speaker 3: USC looked absolutely awful.
- 1:35:50Speaker 2: But if they win it 24-21... Like, this seems like
- 1:35:54Speaker 2: a really good spot for SC to be able to
- 1:35:56Speaker 2: bounce back, but because they looked so lost last week
- 1:35:59Speaker 2: coming off a bye, it is hard to imagine them
- 1:36:02Speaker 2: beating Ohio State even with a backup quarterback. Yes. We'll see.
- 1:36:05Speaker 1: If it doesn't make sense, it makes sense. Southern Cal
- 1:36:07Speaker 1: wins outright. That's our upset alert. This is the next
- 1:36:11Speaker 1: round presented by Hard Rock Bet on Sport and State.
- 1:36:15Speaker 1: Going to the break a little too quick for Tyler.
- 1:36:17Speaker 2: Now we go.
- 1:36:19Speaker 12: This year, the biggest sportsbook party's getting even bigger.
- 1:36:22Speaker 2: Hey, there's J-Boy.
- 1:36:24Speaker 12: Whether you just getting here or you been here, you're
- 1:36:26Speaker 12: not leaving here empty-handed.
- 1:36:29Speaker 10: Hey, J.
- 1:36:30Speaker 2: Jimmy Johnson. Kevin, they know me? Of course.
- 1:36:33Speaker 12: In this party, everybody's somebody. This season, Hard Rock Bet
- 1:36:37Speaker 12: has something for everyone.
- 1:36:39Speaker 6: Plus, new customers bet $ 5 and get up to $ 500
- 1:36:41Speaker 6: in no-sweat bets.
- 1:36:42Speaker 2: Hey, that's Fat Joe. Forget him. That's J-Boy. Hey, J-Boy.
- 1:36:46Speaker 2: My name's J-Boy. I got that. I got that.
- 1:36:49Speaker 1: It is the next round on Sporting State presented by
- 1:36:51Speaker 1: Hard Rock Bet. There are three undefeated teams. You tell
- 1:36:54Speaker 1: me you've got some props on these three.
- 1:36:56Speaker 3: I do.
- 1:36:56Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:36:58Speaker 1: We will look at those because the undefeateds continue to shrink,
- 1:37:01Speaker 1: as you might imagine. And we are down to three
- 1:37:05Speaker 1: now in major college football. I don't know that we
- 1:37:07Speaker 1: lose one this week. Well, we can't lose. Well, we
- 1:37:12Speaker 1: could use. I mean, Miami's in North Carolina. UCLA's playing Nevada.
- 1:37:15Speaker 2: Yeah. I think Utah.
- 1:37:20Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, we could lose two or three.
- 1:37:23Speaker 1: That would be college football, right?
- 1:37:24Speaker 3: It really would be.
- 1:37:25Speaker 2: I mean, I really thought, just based on the way
- 1:37:27Speaker 2: the last couple of weeks have played out, I thought
- 1:37:29Speaker 2: Utah was going to lose.
- 1:37:30Speaker 3: Last week to Houston.
- 1:37:31Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:37:31Speaker 3: It just seemed like that was in the cards.
- 1:37:33Speaker 2: It's close to happening. Yeah, there's no doubt.
- 1:37:35Speaker 1: So Lance got some props on these three remaining undefeated teams.
- 1:37:38Speaker 1: We'll get to those in a moment. XXXY Athletics. Jennifer Say,
- 1:37:42Speaker 1: she's a former national champion gymnast. She was a Levi's
- 1:37:45Speaker 1: brand president. And she, rather than say something she didn't
- 1:37:48Speaker 1: believe in, walked away and started XXXY Athletics instead. The mission,
- 1:37:53Speaker 1: in their words, empower female athletes to take a stand
- 1:37:55Speaker 1: for fair competition. They call it the T that launched
- 1:37:57Speaker 1: a movement. And they are also the official home of
- 1:38:01Speaker 1: Clay Travis' future WNBA franchise Nashville Balls gear. You can
- 1:38:04Speaker 1: get the trucker hat and you can get the tees.
- 1:38:07Speaker 1: That's where you get it right there. It is real
- 1:38:08Speaker 1: athletic apparel. It is not just a slogan on a shirt.
- 1:38:11Speaker 1: It's performance tops, it's tanks, it's sports bras, it's leggings,
- 1:38:14Speaker 1: it's shorts, it's training sets, hoodies, hats, graphic tees, men's
- 1:38:18Speaker 1: and women's clothing worn by athletes who've actually put something
- 1:38:21Speaker 1: on the line. And new customers get 20% off your
- 1:38:23Speaker 1: first order when you sign up. Free shipping over $ 100
- 1:38:26Speaker 1: with xxxyathletics.com.
- 1:38:28Speaker 2: That is XX hyphen.
- 1:38:32Speaker 1: Xx-xyathletics.com. The undefeateds continue to streak. I mean, technically, we
- 1:38:39Speaker 1: lost one this week in James Madison as well. We
- 1:38:41Speaker 1: didn't talk as much about them, but that all got
- 1:38:43Speaker 1: started on Thursday.
- 1:38:45Speaker 2: Night when Appalachian State beat them.
- 1:38:48Speaker 1: They get Troy this week. That's Luganville's game, by the way,
- 1:38:50Speaker 1: James Madison and Troy. But James Madison got knocked out,
- 1:38:53Speaker 1: probably knocked them out of any sort of playoff discussion.
- 1:38:56Speaker 1: They were very borderline to begin with. But had they
- 1:38:59Speaker 1: finished undefeated and Boise found a way to maybe grab
- 1:39:02Speaker 1: a loss or two? I don't know. Who else are
- 1:39:05Speaker 1: we talking about in that level? I mean, the American
- 1:39:09Speaker 1: doesn't really have a team that It's really down to Boise,
- 1:39:13Speaker 1: isn't it?
- 1:39:13Speaker 2: It seems like it. I mean, Boise.
- 1:39:15Speaker 4: UTSA, that was my preseason G6 pick.
- 1:39:17Speaker 2: I mean, they're still alive, right?
- 1:39:19Speaker 9: Yeah, they're 7-1. If they went out, they could be there.
- 1:39:23Speaker 9: They're the only one-loss team in the American League.
- 1:39:24Speaker 1: Oh, by the way, their coach, Jeff Traylor, asked yesterday
- 1:39:27Speaker 1: about the Baylor opening. And he said, and I'm going
- 1:39:30Speaker 1: to quote this. And by the way, I would like
- 1:39:32Speaker 1: to see him get an opportunity. You know I've always
- 1:39:34Speaker 1: been a Traylor fan, and he's done a really good
- 1:39:36Speaker 1: job with that program. And he's a well-respected player. former
- 1:39:39Speaker 1: high school coach in the state but like he just
- 1:39:41Speaker 1: hasn't had those offers and he said we've got a
- 1:39:44Speaker 1: 10-year contract here at UTSA and I am fulfilling that
- 1:39:47Speaker 1: 10-year contract I love it here my wife loves it
- 1:39:49Speaker 1: here we ain't leaving good for him now you can
- 1:39:52Speaker 1: say that and leave we've seen it before just watch
- 1:39:54Speaker 1: the saving documentary but that is why he said yesterday.
- 1:39:56Speaker 2: And his wife might love it but I guarantee if
- 1:39:58Speaker 2: Texas called Her ass would be like, pack it.
- 1:40:01Speaker 1: You're not that far, by the way. Wake up to
- 1:40:02Speaker 1: San Antonio. I've made that drive.
- 1:40:04Speaker 2: I'm not even talking about Baylor. I'm talking about like
- 1:40:06Speaker 2: a bigger job. Maybe he would turn down Baylor, which,
- 1:40:09Speaker 2: you know, to each their own. And some people are
- 1:40:11Speaker 2: happier in a smaller pond. Yeah.
- 1:40:14Speaker 1: I don't know if you like San Antonio now. I've
- 1:40:16Speaker 1: never been.
- 1:40:17Speaker 2: You've never been?
- 1:40:17Speaker 1: The only time I was in San Antonio, I'm down
- 1:40:19Speaker 1: in the tourist area. We stayed on the Riverwalk. Our
- 1:40:21Speaker 1: hotel was on the Riverwalk, and we barely left that area.
- 1:40:25Speaker 1: But I loved it. Now, I've had people tell me
- 1:40:27Speaker 1: it's not a great place. You hear that about any
- 1:40:29Speaker 1: place you go, though. If you like it, you can
- 1:40:31Speaker 1: find five people that hate it. But I like San Antonio.
- 1:40:34Speaker 1: I don't know what it'd be like living there. Probably
- 1:40:36Speaker 1: hot as 10 hills, I would imagine, in the summer.
- 1:40:39Speaker 1: We were there in the summer, and it was pretty hot.
- 1:40:40Speaker 1: But the Riverwalk area, I very much enjoyed.
- 1:40:43Speaker 3: I've heard it's a lot of fun.
- 1:40:44Speaker 1: Yeah, but then I've had people that say the Riverwalk
- 1:40:46Speaker 1: area is awful, so you never know. Anyway, that was
- 1:40:49Speaker 1: Jeff Traylor. So we've got three undefeateds. If I say
- 1:40:52Speaker 1: all that to say we've got three undefeateds.
- 1:40:53Speaker 2: Utah, Miami, UCLA. So I have got first team to lose.
- 1:40:57Speaker 2: Of those three, who do you think it is?
- 1:40:58Speaker 1: Miami gets Notre Dame next week, and there will be
- 1:41:00Speaker 1: an underdog in that game still.
- 1:41:03Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:41:03Speaker 1: They were an underdog in preseason. I think it was
- 1:41:05Speaker 1: as high as seven in the preseason at places like
- 1:41:08Speaker 1: Hard Rock.
- 1:41:08Speaker 2: Depending on how Miami plays this week, let's say one
- 1:41:12Speaker 2: of two things.
- 1:41:12Speaker 1: Notre Dame gets Navy.
- 1:41:14Speaker 2: They should blow off. Yeah. Let's say that Miami wins
- 1:41:17Speaker 2: by 17 plus. Okay. I think the number at that
- 1:41:21Speaker 2: point is Notre Dame two and a half. Oh, so
- 1:41:24Speaker 2: that tight. Yeah.
- 1:41:25Speaker 3: Maybe three and a half.
- 1:41:26Speaker 2: Yeah. I'm going to go three and a half. I'm
- 1:41:27Speaker 2: going to go over the key number of three. I'll
- 1:41:29Speaker 2: say Notre Dame will be a three and a half
- 1:41:30Speaker 2: point favorite. If Miami struggles, single-digit win or a loss,
- 1:41:34Speaker 2: Notre Dame is going to be extended out to probably seven.
- 1:41:36Speaker 2: All right.
- 1:41:36Speaker 1: So Notre Dame, Miami gets Notre Dame.
- 1:41:43Speaker 2: Utah. Okay, so Utah currently has got the 89th. Strength
- 1:41:47Speaker 2: of schedule in college football, which is the worst in
- 1:41:49Speaker 2: the Big 12. But they're about to play their toughest part.
- 1:41:51Speaker 2: Here we go.
- 1:41:52Speaker 3: They've got games at Cincinnati coming up.
- 1:41:53Speaker 2: That's right. Then they've got BYU and the Holy War.
- 1:41:57Speaker 3: And then they've got to go to Arizona.
- 1:41:59Speaker 1: I almost drew the Cincinnati logo right here. I don't
- 1:42:02Speaker 1: know if you thought about that one.
- 1:42:03Speaker 2: I didn't because I think it's going to be really
- 1:42:05Speaker 2: difficult for Cincinnati to be able to do this in back-to-back.
- 1:42:07Speaker 2: That's what got me. Like I said with Auburn last week.
- 1:42:09Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what got me was could Cincinnati put the
- 1:42:11Speaker 1: two weeks together back-to-back. I got burned on Cincinnati against Arizona.
- 1:42:16Speaker 1: I didn't have anything on the game. I'm just saying
- 1:42:18Speaker 1: I'm watching it. I just cannot get that out of
- 1:42:21Speaker 1: my mind, how bad they were against Arizona.
- 1:42:24Speaker 2: Maybe Arizona's just that good?
- 1:42:25Speaker 1: Maybe Arizona's just that good, as you continue to tell me.
- 1:42:27Speaker 2: Okay, so we looked at Utah and Miami, what they've
- 1:42:30Speaker 2: got coming up. UCLA, if you want to check that schedule.
- 1:42:32Speaker 1: They've got Nevada this week, and then is it.
- 1:42:35Speaker 2: Oh, hang on, hang on, hang on. And this is
- 1:42:41Speaker 2: first team to lose of the three undefeateds.
- 1:42:43Speaker 1: All right, so they get Nevada at a conference this week,
- 1:42:46Speaker 1: and then after that they're at Minnesota.
- 1:42:48Speaker 2: Minnesota.
- 1:42:50Speaker 1: I'm going to say Miami would be where I would
- 1:42:53Speaker 1: go for first team to lose at a conference.
- 1:42:54Speaker 2: First team to lose at a conference is actually Utah
- 1:42:57Speaker 2: at plus 125. Miami is behind them at plus 150.
- 1:43:00Speaker 2: And then UCLA is the favorite to be the last
- 1:43:04Speaker 2: undefeated team in the regular season at plus 250.
- 1:43:06Speaker 1: So if you play this, like we just talked about
- 1:43:08Speaker 1: the fact that the Holy War is at 10 a.m.,
- 1:43:10Speaker 1: 11 a.m.
- 1:43:11Speaker 2: Central kick.
- 1:43:13Speaker 1: Would that be considered the first team to lose?
- 1:43:15Speaker 2: That is an interesting question. I would think that they
- 1:43:18Speaker 2: would do it day of because you can't control the
- 1:43:21Speaker 2: kick times. That's right.
- 1:43:22Speaker 1: Because we already know Miami-Notre Dame is late. I'm looking
- 1:43:24Speaker 1: right here. UCLA-Minnesota doesn't have a TV time yet. But
- 1:43:27Speaker 1: it's not going to be that early. It would be
- 1:43:28Speaker 1: day of.
- 1:43:30Speaker 2: How many of these three teams will be undefeated at
- 1:43:32Speaker 2: the end of the regular season? First of all, do
- 1:43:33Speaker 2: you think any will? No.
- 1:43:34Speaker 1: I think Miami is going to lose at Notre Dame.
- 1:43:37Speaker 1: and Utah and UCLA are going to find a loss
- 1:43:40Speaker 1: or two.
- 1:43:40Speaker 2: If you go zero, you're getting minus 130.
- 1:43:43Speaker 3: So they are saying, yeah.
- 1:43:44Speaker 2: That's the favorite? Yeah, I mean, the probability tells you
- 1:43:49Speaker 2: there's not going to be one. With one undefeated left,
- 1:43:52Speaker 2: plus 160, two 7-1. If you think all three at
- 1:43:56Speaker 2: the end of the year are all undefeated in 12-0,
- 1:43:58Speaker 2: 33-1 you can get.
- 1:43:59Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:43:59Speaker 2: Impossible.
- 1:44:00Speaker 1: Yeah. I don't even think it makes it out of
- 1:44:03Speaker 1: the next two weeks.
- 1:44:03Speaker 3: This is interesting.
- 1:44:04Speaker 2: Will either of the three teams miss out on the
- 1:44:07Speaker 2: 12-team college football playoff?
- 1:44:08Speaker 1: Ooh, I kind of like that play because I could
- 1:44:10Speaker 1: see both Utah and UCLA missing. I could see two
- 1:44:12Speaker 1: of the three. Miami, I don't see missing. They're going
- 1:44:15Speaker 1: to win the ACC or they're going to be good enough.
- 1:44:18Speaker 1: I mean, they're going to be a one loss to
- 1:44:20Speaker 1: Notre Dame or they're going to win the ACC, right?
- 1:44:23Speaker 1: Or I should say one loss conference championship game or
- 1:44:25Speaker 1: win the ACC. I guess if they lose to Notre
- 1:44:29Speaker 1: Dame and lose the conference championship game, as unlikely as
- 1:44:32Speaker 1: that seems, they would have some trouble as a two-ball team.
- 1:44:34Speaker 2: The odds are implying here 60% likelihood of all three
- 1:44:38Speaker 2: teams making the college football playoff. Right now, no is
- 1:44:41Speaker 2: minus 150, yes is plus 110.
- 1:44:44Speaker 3: I don't like Utah.
- 1:44:45Speaker 2: They might be the best team in the Big 12,
- 1:44:46Speaker 2: but it's all said and done. I think there's way
- 1:44:48Speaker 2: too many things to navigate.
- 1:44:49Speaker 3: And we don't know.
- 1:44:50Speaker 2: If you told me it was a two-bed league, then
- 1:44:52Speaker 2: I could buy it right now. Like Miami is there. UCLA,
- 1:44:56Speaker 2: it's going to be really difficult to find three losses.
- 1:44:58Speaker 2: So I think Miami and UCLA are there. I guess so.
- 1:45:03Speaker 1: I mean, the Big Ten is going to have to
- 1:45:04Speaker 1: have three or four teams, and UCLA is probably going
- 1:45:06Speaker 1: to finish in that window.
- 1:45:09Speaker 2: And here are just the individuals. Will Miami go undefeated
- 1:45:12Speaker 2: in the regular season?
- 1:45:13Speaker 12: No.
- 1:45:13Speaker 2: Noah's minus 300, so it's pretty hefty. Yes is plus 200,
- 1:45:17Speaker 2: and that really just comes down to the Notre Dame game.
- 1:45:19Speaker 1: If they get past Notre Dame, they should be undefeated
- 1:45:21Speaker 1: in the regular. We keep saying, though, this weekend could be.
- 1:45:24Speaker 2: Tricky for them. Will UCLA go undefeated in the regular season?
- 1:45:28Speaker 2: No minus 600. So they're saying there's a 14% chance
- 1:45:32Speaker 2: that UCLA will close the deal and go undefeated. I
- 1:45:35Speaker 2: can't see that at all.
- 1:45:36Speaker 3: Yes, it's plus 350.
- 1:45:36Speaker 2: And then finally, Utah has got the longest odds as
- 1:45:40Speaker 2: far as going undefeated. There's a 10% likelihood the Utes
- 1:45:43Speaker 2: will go undefeated the regular season. They're minus 900, no,
- 1:45:46Speaker 2: and plus 500, yes. So if you think Utah can
- 1:45:48Speaker 2: close the deal and go 12-0, I mean, you put
- 1:45:51Speaker 2: up $ 100 to win $ 500.
- 1:45:53Speaker 1: Again, I don't think any of them go 12-0. You know, Miami,
- 1:45:58Speaker 1: is there anything that could trip them up after UCLA?
- 1:46:01Speaker 1: I mean, after, excuse me.
- 1:46:02Speaker 2: Notre Dame?
- 1:46:03Speaker 3: I don't think so.
- 1:46:04Speaker 2: But, you know, I wouldn't have said Florida State could
- 1:46:06Speaker 2: have tripped them up.
- 1:46:06Speaker 1: Yeah, that goes double overtime. That just shows you. So
- 1:46:09Speaker 1: after they play Notre Dame, Duke? It's a home game
- 1:46:13Speaker 1: against Duke. It is their homecoming. Is Duke good enough?
- 1:46:16Speaker 1: If Miami beats Notre Dame and comes in tremendously flat
- 1:46:22Speaker 1: and overlooks Duke.
- 1:46:23Speaker 3: I guess there's a path.
- 1:46:25Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:46:25Speaker 2: But I think if they play it 50 times, they
- 1:46:29Speaker 2: win 48 of them.
- 1:46:30Speaker 1: All these games are at home, so I'll quit saying
- 1:46:33Speaker 1: Hard Rock Stadium.
- 1:46:34Speaker 2: Notre Dame's their last road game.
- 1:46:35Speaker 1: They're at North Carolina this week, at Notre Dame next week,
- 1:46:37Speaker 1: and then they play everything else at home. This team
- 1:46:40Speaker 1: has probably been about as good record-wise as we thought
- 1:46:46Speaker 1: they were going to be at this point. They play
- 1:46:48Speaker 1: Virginia Tech after that. I mean, Lance, I'll just say
- 1:46:51Speaker 1: Virginia Tech, they've lost to Pitt. When Pitt was fully
- 1:46:54Speaker 1: healthy at quarterback and it was a controversial ending, lost
- 1:46:57Speaker 1: by three. They lost at Cal the week after that,
- 1:47:00Speaker 1: which is the head scratcher, by five. I mean, they
- 1:47:04Speaker 1: are eight points away from being undefeated.
- 1:47:08Speaker 2: I'm almost to the point, like, I feel like I
- 1:47:13Speaker 2: could tell you the Big 12 teams that will be
- 1:47:15Speaker 2: in the conference championship as opposed to Miami and who. Yeah.
- 1:47:19Speaker 1: I mean, Virginia Tech, could you see that happening? Let
- 1:47:22Speaker 1: me tell you who Virginia Tech's got before they play Miami.
- 1:47:24Speaker 1: They've got to buy this week after they beat Clemson Saturday.
- 1:47:27Speaker 1: If you all missed that, they.
- 1:47:27Speaker 2: Beat Clemson Saturday. Yeah, and Luke Reynolds got back involved,
- 1:47:30Speaker 2: one of the best tight ends in college football. Just
- 1:47:32Speaker 2: not buying Virginia Tech. It's a great first year for
- 1:47:35Speaker 2: James Franklin, but they struggled with Clemson.
- 1:47:37Speaker 1: Yeah, and they're at SMU, Stanford at home, and then
- 1:47:41Speaker 1: they're at Miami. It'd be an upset, and it would
- 1:47:43Speaker 1: be something James Franklin never did, by the way, is
- 1:47:45Speaker 1: beat teams like that. And then Boston College. There's zero
- 1:47:48Speaker 1: chance Boston College is going to beat them. Here's a
- 1:47:51Speaker 1: crazy stat before we go on Clemson. I doubt you.
- 1:47:56Speaker 1: You watch Clemson against LSU. I doubt you've sat around
- 1:47:58Speaker 1: and watched a lot of Clemson football. Do you know
- 1:48:01Speaker 1: how many passing touchdowns they've got this year?
- 1:48:03Speaker 2: I do know this. Do you? Yeah, it's pathetic. You know,
- 1:48:06Speaker 2: they're the only team right now in the Power Four.
- 1:48:10Speaker 2: that their special teams in defense has outscored their offense.
- 1:48:14Speaker 1: That is impossible.
- 1:48:15Speaker 2: On the season? On the season. Wait a minute. On
- 1:48:18Speaker 2: the season? Their special teams and defense have outscored their offense.
- 1:48:24Speaker 2: The answer to your question is two passing touchdowns.
- 1:48:26Speaker 1: They have two passing touchdowns, which, in case you're wondering,
- 1:48:29Speaker 1: is only worse. The only worse one is Army, who's
- 1:48:34Speaker 1: got one, and Temple, who somehow has one.
- 1:48:36Speaker 2: Yeah, no, I think it's Army. I think Rice only
- 1:48:39Speaker 2: has one. Rice only has one? Okay. Power five.
- 1:48:41Speaker 1: They were the worst at power five.
- 1:48:43Speaker 2: But, I mean, you think about, and this is not
- 1:48:45Speaker 2: an over-exaggeration, Deshaun Watson and Trevor Lawrence would do that
- 1:48:48Speaker 2: in a quarter. Two passing touchdowns in a quarter. Back-to-back possessions. Yeah.
- 1:48:52Speaker 1: Two passing touchdowns.
- 1:48:55Speaker 2: And who does Clemson have this week? Wait a minute.
- 1:48:56Speaker 1: I was looking at it. They've got two passing touchdowns.
- 1:48:59Speaker 1: Army's got three. Rice has four.
- 1:49:01Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what I'm saying. They're less than those guys.
- 1:49:03Speaker 1: Yeah, less than those guys. So they are dead last,
- 1:49:05Speaker 1: 138 out of 138.
- 1:49:06Speaker 2: I mean, this Florida State defense isn't good, so they
- 1:49:08Speaker 2: should be able to beef on that. But can you
- 1:49:10Speaker 2: imagine going into November with only two passing touchdowns? That's insane.
- 1:49:13Speaker 2: Chad Morris offense. I just don't get it. All right,
- 1:49:15Speaker 2: we've got two more hours to go.
