- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome to Empower your Soul Podcast.
- 0:03Speaker 1: I'm your host, nicole Pope, and today I'm so excited.
- 0:07Speaker 1: It sounded like I said Nicole Poop, I'm so excited.
- 0:11Speaker 1: I think this is a great way to start this episode, because I'm going to talk about me and I'm kind of a goofball, so let's go, let's go.
- 0:19Speaker 1: So I thought the second episode would be actually a really really good episode for me to just introduce myself and talk about my journey, both before my spiritual work, where I'm in now, and where I hope to be in the future.
- 0:30Speaker 1: So, hello everybody, my name is Nicole Pope.
- 0:35Speaker 1: I am someone who never takes myself seriously, but I know that I beat myself up all the time too.
- 0:40Speaker 1: If this resonates with you, let's go, let's continue up all the time too.
- 0:46Speaker 1: If this resonates with you, let's go, let's continue.
- 0:49Speaker 1: So let's talk about me, which is very uncomfortable for me, but let's go there because I promised I would, and I think it's really important because I am not your typical spiritual leader oh, I hate calling myself that, but I'm not and so, and I think it's really important that I kind of highlight that, because my background is so different than I think a lot of people.
- 1:07Speaker 1: So I guess number one is um, from a spiritual perspective, I never saw spirit as a kid I I I actually came up from a very religious background, so I went.
- 1:17Speaker 1: I was a Roman Catholic church.
- 1:19Speaker 1: I was an altar girl.
- 1:20Speaker 1: When I was little I loved going to church.
- 1:22Speaker 1: Like I loved going to church so much that you know both of my kids are baptized right Like this.
- 1:27Speaker 1: This is not a new thing for me, and what's so interesting to me is I never knew that spirit could communicate with me and I hesitated there because I've always loved mediumship, always loved it.
- 1:47Speaker 1: Mediumship was my jam Growing up.
- 1:48Speaker 1: Mediumship I would watch the shows.
- 1:49Speaker 1: I would cry.
- 1:50Speaker 1: I mean John Holland, teresa Caputo, like I would watch these shows and I would cry.
- 1:55Speaker 1: So so it's really interesting to me because at some aspect of my life I I loved the church, I love faith, I love the idea of heaven, but also, at the same time, I always wondered what our loved ones are doing on the other side.
- 2:08Speaker 1: What do you mean?
- 2:09Speaker 1: We come here once and then we have eternity of heaven?
- 2:12Speaker 1: Like that must be bored, what do you mean?
- 2:14Speaker 1: I didn't understand that.
- 2:16Speaker 1: So the idea of mediumship to me just made sense because if they're there, why wouldn't they talk to us, and why wouldn't they try to be meddling in all our things and wanting to give us advice?
- 2:28Speaker 1: Because they're on the other side twiddling their thumbs.
- 2:31Speaker 1: So, to me, what's weird about my mind is the I'm going to say Christianity generically.
- 2:39Speaker 1: You can come at me, it doesn't bother me.
- 2:42Speaker 1: Christianity and mediumship have always been this hand in hand relationship to me, because they both agree that our loved ones are on the other side, right, and that it didn't surprise me at all, just like with the priest in the Catholic church, right, that we would have mediums that could communicate to our loved ones on the other side.
- 3:06Speaker 1: Right?
- 3:06Speaker 1: Like to me, this as a kid, this just all all these puzzle pieces made sense to me and fit together perfectly.
- 3:12Speaker 1: Because if you have a priest who's saying that they are the word of God and they're the ones who are translating for God and they're the ones absolving us of our sins, why can't we also have people that specialize in talking to our other loved ones on the other side too?
- 3:27Speaker 1: Not just God, right?
- 3:28Speaker 1: So, like to me, it just made sense.
- 3:31Speaker 1: So mediumship and church have always been this core component of my life, and that only changed.
- 3:38Speaker 1: Oh God, that's a long story, um, that only changed once I had kids.
- 3:44Speaker 1: Because once I had children, I, you know, I always knew of the flaws in the churches and, uh, um, and I, I, I guess you know.
- 3:56Speaker 1: Long story short, I didn't want to raise my kids, my children, in in a church that has such outdated moral standards.
- 4:07Speaker 1: I guess I'm going to say it that way.
- 4:08Speaker 1: I couldn't raise my kids thinking that the church says, like homosexuality is evil and you're going to hell, like that.
- 4:16Speaker 1: That part of the church never, never, vibed with me at all.
- 4:20Speaker 1: So when it came down to when my kids were little and I was trying really hard to raise them with the same values as I learned in the church, you know, like respecting and loving your neighbor, you know trying don't lie.
- 4:34Speaker 1: You know all of these kind of all these values which I generally agreed with for the most part my own spin on a lot of them, but I generally agreed with them I realized that I could not follow the church path anymore because of the social, how far behind they were socially and, to be honest with you, if they were more aligned with, I think, the latest Pope, which is ironic that we have the last name, I know it's hilarious, um, if, if?
- 5:02Speaker 1: I can't remember his name, benedict, I don't even know who it is anymore.
- 5:05Speaker 1: That's how far I'm in with the church.
- 5:07Speaker 1: But if the church were aligned to this latest pope who is more socially progressive, who welcomes women leaders or wants women leaders, who welcomes homosexuality or any sort of LGBTA like any of that right, and I would probably still be at the church, to be honest with you, but they're not.
- 5:30Speaker 1: So that's where my probably journey with spirituality began, because I knew it all existed.
- 5:36Speaker 1: I knew that there was this amazing world out there with angels and God and heaven and everything else on the other side.
- 5:42Speaker 1: But what I disagreed with was such a big rift for me that I had to go find my own journey.
- 5:49Speaker 1: So, right around the same time that I kind of finally put the church down and said I'm going to leave you behind because I can't raise my children with that outdated social mindset, I was told by a medium that I was also a medium, and that's a story unto itself.
- 6:08Speaker 1: Because I was told that I was a medium because my son could see spirit with it.
- 6:14Speaker 1: This episode is a mess.
- 6:15Speaker 1: This is like.
- 6:19Speaker 1: This is a perfect example about how I talk because I talk in circles, but we're just gonna go with it.
- 6:25Speaker 1: But but I found out that I was a medium because my son could see spirit with his eyes.
- 6:31Speaker 1: Yeah, so he can see black shadow people in his eyes and it was making him terrified to be around the house all by himself.
- 6:40Speaker 1: And this was a couple years in the making.
- 6:42Speaker 1: I kind of wrote it off for a few years but then I finally believed him and I went to my medium and I'm like, how do I deal with this?
- 6:50Speaker 1: And she's like, well, why don't you just learn, why don't you just train to be a medium and then you can deal with it yourself?
- 6:54Speaker 1: And she said it so nonchalantly.
- 6:57Speaker 1: She's like what?
- 6:58Speaker 1: You don't know?
- 6:58Speaker 1: You don't know that you're a medium.
- 7:01Speaker 1: And no, I didn't freaking know.
- 7:02Speaker 1: I had no idea that I was a medium.
- 7:03Speaker 1: So I signed eight week class, was reading spirits in like the first class, or two crystal clear, like it was insane.
- 7:14Speaker 1: And then from there it was really this self-taught progression of mediumship, right.
- 7:20Speaker 1: So learning about mediumship and coming to alignment have really helped me.
- 7:26Speaker 1: Let me say that differently.
- 7:27Speaker 1: It really helped me come into alignment with who I was and what I thought was the right path for connecting to the other side.
- 7:40Speaker 1: And when I say that, like I don't want to use the word religion, I don't want to use the word spirituality, because it's different than that.
- 7:46Speaker 1: It's creating my own relationship with God, with the spirit world, and figuring out the path that works for me.
- 7:54Speaker 1: That's what mediumship, that's the gift it gave me.
- 7:57Speaker 1: Not only could I connect with departed loved ones, both my own and my clients and my friends, but it allowed me to kind of really tie everything in a nice bow, in understanding that it doesn't need to be in a box, Like we don't need to put our religion, our spirituality, our relationship with God on the other side in a box.
- 8:19Speaker 1: This episode is going nowhere where I thought it would, um, but that's what it did.
- 8:27Speaker 1: That was the amazing gift of mediumship.
- 8:29Speaker 1: So that's why I am obsessed with mediumship, because it just gave me such a different view on life in love and the afterlife and the spirit world and everything.
- 8:42Speaker 1: Instead of listening to someone else's perspective and taking their lessons on what heaven is and what God is and what angels are and what happens when we die and what happens before we're born.
- 8:55Speaker 1: Instead of taking all those lessons, I'm finally coming to the conclusion that it's like everything else in my life.
- 9:02Speaker 1: I learned for myself and I figured out what that relationship is for myself and I.
- 9:08Speaker 1: I figured out how God fits into my, my vision, my perspective, and how heaven and loved ones and angels all fit into my perspective, as well as everything else that's a little wonky out there.
- 9:18Speaker 1: I mean, we're probably going to talk about aliens and all that stuff at some point past lives, that kind of stuff.
- 9:24Speaker 1: But it really truly was such a gift for me to empower my own relationship with the spirit, world and God and I will forever, forever love mediumship for that.
- 9:38Speaker 1: So I wanted to shift gears for a little bit, just to talk about who I am outside of the spiritual work that I do, because it is not always what I've done.
- 9:46Speaker 1: This is probably a very new facet.
- 9:48Speaker 1: You know, in the last few years of my life that I've explored and obviously taken a deep dive into.
- 9:55Speaker 1: But before I knew that I could be a medium, I spent so much time trying to build my career and I think this is going to resonate with a lot of you, because I actually went to school, went to business school, and I majored in computer information systems and I minored in communication.
- 10:12Speaker 1: So my entire career I knew that I would be spending in a corporate role, likely something with technology.
- 10:20Speaker 1: What I didn't expect, however, was shifting that into more of a project management, process engineering type of job, where I have been working since 2006,.
- 10:32Speaker 1: Right, so I've been doing this for a very long time in terms of working with large corporations implementing major transformational initiatives, a lot of change initiatives.
- 10:44Speaker 1: So what's in my back pocket as I walk into the spiritual work is this background of project management, thinking about long-term goals, thinking about all the tasks and the plans that it's going to take you to get there.
- 10:56Speaker 1: I also work, again, process engineering engineering, which is making things efficient.
- 11:00Speaker 1: So large organizations hire me to essentially take problems that they don't know how to solve and fix it for them and make their processes more efficient, more profitable, less people doing them how can they do the same with less?
- 11:16Speaker 1: So that is always the mindset that I take in pretty much everything that I've done, because it is so integrated in who I am and it's down, it's like down in my bones.
- 11:26Speaker 1: That's how integrated this idea of efficiency is for me.
- 11:31Speaker 1: And practicality, too, right, like making sure that we're doing things that are worthwhile and that are adding value, instead of doing things because other people tell us to do them.
- 11:40Speaker 1: You know, wanting to see the results, we want to make sure that all the effort we're spending is going to come into fruition and have results that are measurable, that are effective and that help organizations achieve their goals right.
- 11:55Speaker 1: And I take that same practical approach into my spiritual work, because it is so important that we take these efficiencies, we take these drives towards value, we take these steps and how they help us achieve our goals.
- 12:09Speaker 1: And instead of applying it in a corporate environment, we're just now shifting it or I am now shifting it into more of a spiritual environment and it's less corporate centered and it's more people centered to make sure that I'm helping people achieve their goals.
- 12:25Speaker 1: So if you're wondering where my business acumen comes in, it's because of the work that I've done in the career that I've built in being an amazing employee and implementing these extremely large transformation efficiency projects across.
- 12:42Speaker 1: I mean financial services, insurance.
- 12:44Speaker 1: I consulted for quite a while there.
- 12:46Speaker 1: You know I've worked with the government.
- 12:48Speaker 1: I've worked with healthcare.
- 12:50Speaker 1: I've worked with manufacturing shops.
- 12:52Speaker 1: You know I've worked with large financial institutions you name it.
- 12:57Speaker 1: I've done it, and what's so cool is you know that secret sauce and I hate using those corporate terms, I apologize in advance.
- 13:03Speaker 1: That's going to happen all over this podcast but you take that secret sauce of taking problems, breaking them down to their most core components and actually fixing the root cause of these problems.
- 13:13Speaker 1: It's the same process at all of these different industries and all these different organizations, and it's going to be the same process in terms of your spirituality too, because it does not need to be complex or esoteric.
- 13:27Speaker 1: Right, you need to essentially synthesize these really complex processes into really easy to understand steps, and I've just found that that perspective really resonates deeply with many seekers who are looking to simplify and expedite their spiritual journey.
- 13:44Speaker 1: So that's what I wanted to provide in terms of this background is it's not just about sharing insights as part of this empower your soul podcast.
- 13:56Speaker 1: It's also about providing practical tools, actionable advice that you can apply in your own life, because I really truly believe in cutting through the fluff and getting straight to the heart of what matters and creating integrity in every single episode.
- 14:15Speaker 1: So that's a little bit more about me.
- 14:18Speaker 1: I'm happy to share whatever questions concerns thoughts you have about me in terms of my background, but just know that I'm going to be combining this, like business efficiency perspective, with the spirituality aspect to kind of bring all of this there too for you in this amazing podcast.
- 14:34Speaker 1: So that's it.
- 14:37Speaker 1: A little less painful than I thought talking about myself, but thought it was so important to give you a background on who I am, which will help you understand the perspectives that I'm coming from in this podcast.
- 14:48Speaker 1: So thank you, I really appreciate all of you being here today.
- 14:52Speaker 1: Thank you for joining me to empower your soul and I will see you again soon.
- 14:56Speaker 1: Thanks,
