- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome back, everybody to another episode of Stay Out of
- 0:04Speaker 1: My Fridge, a podcast that has had more co hosts
- 0:08Speaker 1: than probably pairs of underwear that you still own. Don't
- 0:11Speaker 1: look at me like that. Well anyway, the voice you're hearing,
- 0:14Speaker 1: it's me, it's mad, it's Beard laws and joining me
- 0:17Speaker 1: for the first time and what feels like forever the
- 0:20Speaker 1: one the only avery. What's up?
- 0:23Speaker 2: Dude? Hi?
- 0:24Speaker 1: You seem super excited to be here. You said you
- 0:27Speaker 1: wanted to do it, you still want to. It's been
- 0:31Speaker 1: a long long time since you've been on the show.
- 0:35Speaker 1: I've had to do solo episodes. I've had to do
- 0:39Speaker 1: a decent amount of them with Aila, who ironically is
- 0:43Speaker 1: busier than all of you today and couldn't make it.
- 0:46Speaker 1: And life's been crazy since the last time. I feel
- 0:49Speaker 1: like that that you've been on here, A lot going on.
- 0:51Speaker 1: So if I was to say what's up? What have
- 0:53Speaker 1: you been up to and you can't say nothing, I
- 0:55Speaker 1: bet you will.
- 0:57Speaker 2: Basketball?
- 0:58Speaker 1: Lots of basketball, lots of card collecting, and lots of
- 1:03Speaker 1: snow in winter. Has it it felt like one of
- 1:06Speaker 1: the longest, roughest winters of your entire life? Or has
- 1:09Speaker 1: it just kind of been like, yeah, yeah, what's that
- 1:14Speaker 1: mean for the viewers and the listeners at home that
- 1:16Speaker 1: don't really know.
- 1:17Speaker 2: It means it's not that bad.
- 1:19Speaker 1: It's not that bad. It's been not that great. We
- 1:22Speaker 1: have had a lot of snow, a lot of ice,
- 1:24Speaker 1: more snow days, I think than you have used in
- 1:26Speaker 1: a while, and it got to the point where your
- 1:28Speaker 1: school was like, here, just in case there's any more
- 1:31Speaker 1: snow days, we're going to go ahead and work remotely. Yeah,
- 1:35Speaker 1: so why can't you just be like, hey, I'm not
- 1:37Speaker 1: coming in today, I'm going to work remotely.
- 1:40Speaker 2: Because it doesn't work for every day?
- 1:42Speaker 1: Why not?
- 1:43Speaker 2: Because teachers just can't get on a zoom every day
- 1:46Speaker 2: because they have classes.
- 1:49Speaker 1: They can't just fire up the class while having the
- 1:51Speaker 1: zoom going two birds, one pellet, No, two birds, one
- 1:58Speaker 1: pack of candy rocks. Do you know that if like
- 2:01Speaker 1: birds ate those pop rocks, they would explode. I've heard that.
- 2:05Speaker 1: I've never seen that. Do you think that's true? No,
- 2:10Speaker 1: imagine being the guy that just researches that we have
- 2:13Speaker 1: pop rocks. Let's give it to a bird. Let's not
- 2:16Speaker 1: give it to a let's give it to a rat.
- 2:19Speaker 1: But your rat.
- 2:20Speaker 2: Survives, obviously, a rat surize like everything but a mouse trap.
- 2:25Speaker 1: Well, a rat would survive a mouse trap, you'd have
- 2:27Speaker 1: to get a rat trap.
- 2:29Speaker 2: That's a thing.
- 2:30Speaker 1: I mean, rats are bigger than mice. You think just
- 2:32Speaker 1: a rat's gonna be able to go through a little
- 2:34Speaker 1: teeny tiny mouse trap to try to get some peanut
- 2:36Speaker 1: butter and get snapped and be gone.
- 2:39Speaker 2: Well, doesn't a rat like cheese and not peanut butter.
- 2:43Speaker 1: I don't know. I've never hung rats eat garbage. Let's
- 2:46Speaker 1: ask our friends what does a rat primarily eat? Rats
- 2:51Speaker 1: are opportunistic omnivores. Do you know what an omnivor is meat? Nope,
- 2:56Speaker 1: that would be a carnivore, omnivore insects. Yeah, you think
- 3:01Speaker 1: omnivores are insects or omnivores only eat Yeah? Okay, Well,
- 3:09Speaker 1: an omnivore I think is anything but meat. So they
- 3:14Speaker 1: usually eat grain, seeds, nuts, fruits, and veggies in the wild,
- 3:18Speaker 1: while urban rats thrive on human food, waste, garbage, and
- 3:21Speaker 1: pet food. They're highly adaptable and consumed diverse high carbohydrate.
- 3:26Speaker 1: You know what carbohydrate is? No? Okay, Well, your education
- 3:31Speaker 1: is really good. I wonder why you got a ninety
- 3:33Speaker 1: five average ninety eight average ninety nine average. Were they
- 3:37Speaker 1: teach it? You're still working on your ABC's No, do
- 3:41Speaker 1: you know what they are?
- 3:42Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 3:43Speaker 1: Okay, not the things in the spaghettios? So yeah, So
- 3:51Speaker 1: should we have asked if it prefers cheese or peanut
- 3:54Speaker 1: butter rats? Again, they just eat whatever, especially like in
- 3:57Speaker 1: the cities, and stuff whatever is thrown away, whatever's laying around.
- 4:01Speaker 1: I guess I would have never thought a lot of
- 4:03Speaker 1: pet food, just scavenging pet food. I wonder how many
- 4:07Speaker 1: people leave pet food out though for their pets. City
- 4:10Speaker 1: life's different. Aren't you glad you don't live in the city.
- 4:12Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 4:14Speaker 1: Do you think when you get older you're gonna ever
- 4:15Speaker 1: move to a city. You're gonna stay at country bunking.
- 4:18Speaker 2: I'm gonna stay right here, right.
- 4:19Speaker 1: Here, right in the studio.
- 4:21Speaker 2: In this town.
- 4:23Speaker 1: Really, Yes, when I get super old, you're probably gonna
- 4:26Speaker 1: you weren't gonna want this house. There's no chance you
- 4:29Speaker 1: want this house. Is there any chance you want this house?
- 4:33Speaker 2: Maybe?
- 4:34Speaker 1: So you're saying there's a chance, slightly, slightly, but not really.
- 4:40Speaker 1: Who do you think of all the kids, is gonna
- 4:42Speaker 1: want this house? The oldest, the youngest, Isylah, she's gonna
- 4:45Speaker 1: want this house?
- 4:46Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 4:46Speaker 1: Good, and she going and get this house? Probably not sissy. No,
- 4:51Speaker 1: what do you think she's gonna do?
- 4:52Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 4:53Speaker 1: College, Probably go to college. Stay here? Yeah then who knows?
- 4:58Speaker 1: See where college brings her? Right? Yeah, probably want to
- 5:02Speaker 1: try to meet a nice tall boy someday. What it's
- 5:06Speaker 1: got a thing for tall dudes. Mm hm, usually tall
- 5:09Speaker 1: dumb dudes. Apparently not the first one. It wasn't that tall,
- 5:15Speaker 1: but we went he wasn't super smart. I mean he
- 5:18Speaker 1: is super smart?
- 5:19Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 5:19Speaker 1: What is? He is? Super smart? Okay? Well, enough about
- 5:25Speaker 1: that winter. Yeah, I don't know what else has been
- 5:29Speaker 1: up to? Basketball? Tell everybody about the basketball season. Give
- 5:33Speaker 1: us a little recap.
- 5:34Speaker 2: How do I do that?
- 5:35Speaker 1: Talk about all the moments that have happened throughout your season.
- 5:39Speaker 1: You don't know what a recap is?
- 5:41Speaker 2: Well, I know what that is, but there's just so much.
- 5:44Speaker 1: Okay, then let's go we I mean, we still have
- 5:47Speaker 1: twenty five minutes to chat, so hit us with it. Wow.
- 5:52Speaker 2: Wow, practices are boring practices?
- 5:56Speaker 1: Why would you say that.
- 5:57Speaker 2: It goes during the morning.
- 6:00Speaker 1: So if they were in the afternoon, they would be
- 6:01Speaker 1: less boring. Yeah, Okay, So for anybody that doesn't know,
- 6:06Speaker 1: first year of modified in our section, and they practiced
- 6:10Speaker 1: pretty much every single day at when six am, six
- 6:15Speaker 1: a m. Early up the early Did you know that
- 6:19Speaker 1: the early bird gets the worm? Is that the situation
- 6:24Speaker 1: for you guys? But as you went throughout the season,
- 6:26Speaker 1: it was a struggle. For the first couple of weeks,
- 6:29Speaker 1: didn't enjoy it, pretty miserable. But as the season went on,
- 6:33Speaker 1: you did tend to like that time slot a little
- 6:36Speaker 1: bit more because you were able to do stuff after school,
- 6:39Speaker 1: make our games and practices and stuff like that. Right, yeah, okay,
- 6:45Speaker 1: practices didn't love them? So what else we got? Because
- 6:49Speaker 1: there was a lot you said.
- 6:51Speaker 2: Well, all of our games were fun but boring.
- 6:55Speaker 1: Why would you say fun but boring because.
- 6:58Speaker 2: I enjoyed like playing and whatever. But beating teams by
- 7:03Speaker 2: a lot is not fun?
- 7:04Speaker 1: True, that is true competition For what you guys were
- 7:08Speaker 1: it was a little bit little. But wouldn't it be
- 7:12Speaker 1: better to be on that side than the other side?
- 7:15Speaker 1: Could you imagine showing up and losing by that much
- 7:18Speaker 1: every game? No, couldn't imagine, or it wouldn't.
- 7:23Speaker 2: It wouldn't be fun.
- 7:24Speaker 1: Would not be fun? Would it? No, So, but what
- 7:29Speaker 1: challenges I guess you know with that, did you seem
- 7:33Speaker 1: to stumble into You know, you're beating teams all the time,
- 7:36Speaker 1: which is a good thing, and you're not out here
- 7:38Speaker 1: trying to brag or anything like that. But you know,
- 7:41Speaker 1: was there was there any struggles? Was there anything that
- 7:44Speaker 1: that you kind of ran into that that that you
- 7:46Speaker 1: found that you were able to overcome? I guess no,
- 7:50Speaker 1: just everything was good to go. Yeah, did have a
- 7:53Speaker 1: little bit of some knee pain, some ankle pain. How's
- 7:55Speaker 1: that feeling fine?
- 7:58Speaker 2: Wow?
- 7:58Speaker 1: You were As far as podcast host, one word answers
- 8:03Speaker 1: is pretty tough to work with. I mean, you just
- 8:05Speaker 1: come in with one or an answer. I might as
- 8:07Speaker 1: well just do us all. Oh show what else about
- 8:09Speaker 1: a basketball season?
- 8:10Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 8:11Speaker 1: Well, you said there was a lot to talk about.
- 8:13Speaker 1: We have talked for forty five seconds and you've said
- 8:16Speaker 1: four words.
- 8:17Speaker 2: Well, I watched a lot of basketball.
- 8:19Speaker 1: Yeah, talk about it.
- 8:23Speaker 2: We got to go watch the Syracuse woman.
- 8:25Speaker 1: Tell us about that. So for me that doesn't know
- 8:28Speaker 1: the entire girls basketball program for the school that I
- 8:32Speaker 1: am an assistant coach with, she is a player at
- 8:36Speaker 1: fundraise some money the year before going to get back
- 8:38Speaker 1: to fundraising here pretty soon. So if anybody wants some popcorn,
- 8:41Speaker 1: hit Avery up or wants to make a donation. And
- 8:46Speaker 1: one of the things that they do every year is
- 8:48Speaker 1: they go to a Syracuse game and they played who
- 8:50Speaker 1: this year? Syracuse?
- 8:51Speaker 2: That is, Yeah, Syracuse played.
- 8:56Speaker 1: My goodness, you don't remember.
- 8:59Speaker 2: No, it's like Louisville or Louville, Louisville, Louisville.
- 9:04Speaker 1: Do you know where they are out of? What state?
- 9:06Speaker 2: No?
- 9:07Speaker 1: Man, a whole lot of things. You don't know. Wevell
- 9:11Speaker 1: Kentucky and they whooped Syracuse's butts, didn't they?
- 9:14Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 9:15Speaker 1: What was your favorite part of the trip game? The
- 9:17Speaker 1: game itself? Yeah? What about it? Like just physically just
- 9:22Speaker 1: watching the game, or just all you girls at the
- 9:24Speaker 1: game te he and laughing.
- 9:27Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:28Speaker 1: Just there was two questions in there, which one was yeah,
- 9:31Speaker 1: they both can't.
- 9:32Speaker 2: Be just yeah, laughing with each other.
- 9:35Speaker 1: Yeah, tell them about the Syracuse tradition. Maybe just some
- 9:37Speaker 1: people in here that has never ever sat through a
- 9:39Speaker 1: Syracuse basketball game. What do you do at the start
- 9:42Speaker 1: of the Syracuse game?
- 9:43Speaker 2: You have to stand up until Syracuse. Course, not a
- 9:47Speaker 2: foul shot, other shot, a field goal?
- 9:51Speaker 1: Yeah, two or three. How long did you stand as
- 9:55Speaker 1: a Syracuse fan waiting for them to make a basket?
- 10:00Speaker 2: A whole quarter and two minutes?
- 10:02Speaker 1: Fun? Believable. They were really trying to keep up with
- 10:06Speaker 1: the top ten team in the entire country by making
- 10:09Speaker 1: a field goal or a follow shot every once in
- 10:11Speaker 1: a while. They got off to a bad start, made
- 10:13Speaker 1: a little bit of a run, kind of made it
- 10:14Speaker 1: a competitive game going into the fourth quarter, and then
- 10:18Speaker 1: they just kind of fell apart. Yeah, but you got
- 10:22Speaker 1: to walk around on the football field for the first
- 10:24Speaker 1: time ever, I believe right. Yeah, we went for a
- 10:26Speaker 1: little wak ski. Hm, that was fun. What else? What
- 10:30Speaker 1: else from the game?
- 10:31Speaker 2: Eating at Tolly's after?
- 10:32Speaker 1: Ooh, that was fun. Huh what'd you go with a blt?
- 10:36Speaker 1: Of all the things to get so Tolly's from it? It
- 10:40Speaker 1: doesn't I was known for what chicken their world famous
- 10:45Speaker 1: chicken tenders, So they got a lot of things with
- 10:48Speaker 1: chicken tenders, great chicken tenders, decent fries, and you went, BLT,
- 10:54Speaker 1: what was that? Why was why was that the move?
- 10:57Speaker 2: Well? I was gonna get chicken tenders and fries the
- 11:00Speaker 2: whole time until my table was telling everybody what they
- 11:03Speaker 2: were gonna get and then someone was getting a belt,
- 11:07Speaker 2: and then that sounded really good, so I wanted a blt.
- 11:10Speaker 1: Gotcha, that's pretty good. And then somebody else at your
- 11:13Speaker 1: table decided to get the super hot chicken wings or
- 11:16Speaker 1: chicken venders?
- 11:17Speaker 2: Are they?
- 11:17Speaker 1: The wings are like boneless wings.
- 11:20Speaker 2: They were wings.
- 11:22Speaker 1: How'd that work out for the two of them?
- 11:24Speaker 2: Well? One was fine, she ate them all and the
- 11:28Speaker 2: other one was hilarious to watch try to eat them.
- 11:31Speaker 1: Does the one that was hilarious to watch often eat
- 11:34Speaker 1: spicy food or just did it because they thought they'd
- 11:38Speaker 1: be fine? That seems like a bad idea, especially when
- 11:40Speaker 1: you have an hour and a half to two hours
- 11:43Speaker 1: for a bus ride on the right home with no
- 11:46Speaker 1: bathrooms on said bus.
- 11:48Speaker 2: Yeah, not a good idea.
- 11:51Speaker 1: I wonder if said person has ate spicy.
- 11:53Speaker 2: Food, since probably not. I don't think she.
- 11:57Speaker 1: Has, probably not. That should say it? All? Right?
- 12:00Speaker 2: Yeah? Nice?
- 12:02Speaker 1: Then it was a fun little bus ride home, right,
- 12:05Speaker 1: little games and a laugh and some good memories. Even
- 12:08Speaker 1: though that when we try to talk about said memories,
- 12:10Speaker 1: you go, I know, pretty good stuff, right, Yeah? All
- 12:12Speaker 1: in all? The good thing it wasn't negative twelve on
- 12:15Speaker 1: the day we went, right, Yeah, I was expecting it
- 12:19Speaker 1: to be packed. But wasn't a huge crowd, was it. No,
- 12:22Speaker 1: it was a pretty big ACC matchup I was expecting.
- 12:24Speaker 1: Then you look last night Syracuse Men played North Carolina
- 12:27Speaker 1: and there was twenty six thousand plus people. Yeah, there's
- 12:31Speaker 1: maybe what five thousand people for the girls. There's even
- 12:35Speaker 1: like any students there watching. Yeah, at least the band
- 12:39Speaker 1: showed up and Otto the orangeman and cheerleaders yep, cheerleaders
- 12:45Speaker 1: were there as well. Good stuff cool awhere, But we
- 12:50Speaker 1: got to try to go as a family sometime. Bring
- 12:52Speaker 1: Meg and Sissy and I let to a game. I
- 12:54Speaker 1: don't think they've ever been. It's tough though where we
- 12:57Speaker 1: are because to get to Syracuse two and a half
- 13:00Speaker 1: hours one way, which isn't a huge deal, but you
- 13:02Speaker 1: have to drive through what is known as the snow belt.
- 13:05Speaker 1: You know what the snow belt is. It's not a
- 13:08Speaker 1: fashionable belt that you saw some TikToker wear. It's not
- 13:12Speaker 1: an actual belt that you make out of snow.
- 13:14Speaker 2: Do you know what it is or no, something that's
- 13:17Speaker 2: known for just kidding a bunch of snow. I don't know.
- 13:19Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a belt of snow, so like like a
- 13:22Speaker 1: formation and it comes off the lake, so it's lake
- 13:25Speaker 1: effect snow, and then this just area just gets pummeled
- 13:28Speaker 1: with snow after snow after snow, probably, if not the
- 13:32Speaker 1: most snow in the entire nation, pretty darn close. And
- 13:35Speaker 1: so when you drive through that, it almost always is snowing.
- 13:39Speaker 1: And when it's snowing, it's that hard snow where you
- 13:42Speaker 1: can barely, you know, see in front of your vehicle.
- 13:46Speaker 1: You're driving down a busy highway. When people think that
- 13:48Speaker 1: four wheel drive you just kick it in and you
- 13:50Speaker 1: can go as fast as you want. But it's not
- 13:52Speaker 1: always the case, is it. Yeah, but basketball season up
- 13:58Speaker 1: early and sometimes nights. I mean there was days you
- 14:01Speaker 1: would get up at what five in the morning. By
- 14:03Speaker 1: the time we got home, you would go to practice
- 14:05Speaker 1: in school all day, and then we would have a
- 14:08Speaker 1: road game forever because I feel like you forgot to
- 14:12Speaker 1: mention you don't have a gym to play any games in.
- 14:16Speaker 1: How frustrating or different I guess was that. I mean,
- 14:19Speaker 1: it's a little bit different for you because a lot
- 14:21Speaker 1: of your practices last year, for when we did like
- 14:23Speaker 1: the youth stuff and tournaments, you didn't really play at home,
- 14:26Speaker 1: you know what. I mean, you did a little bit
- 14:28Speaker 1: in the fall, had a tournament, and then then after
- 14:31Speaker 1: that it was a different gym, you know, and then
- 14:34Speaker 1: just traveling around like so, I guess for you as
- 14:37Speaker 1: a first year modified player, you didn't really know what
- 14:40Speaker 1: to expect. You weren't used to playing at home every game, right,
- 14:42Speaker 1: or at least half the games.
- 14:44Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 14:45Speaker 1: But where did you end up playing your home games soon?
- 14:51Speaker 1: Which that's pretty cool, right, I feel like that's going
- 14:53Speaker 1: to be a core memory for you that you got
- 14:54Speaker 1: to play your home games on a college court and
- 14:58Speaker 1: then you went up to different areas after playing on
- 15:01Speaker 1: the college court. Was it quite a bit different?
- 15:03Speaker 2: Yes, so much smaller.
- 15:05Speaker 1: Especially Clifton Fine, right, Yeah, holy cow, that was about
- 15:09Speaker 1: the size there, Jim is about half the court of
- 15:12Speaker 1: a college court. It seemed like, yeah, like to the
- 15:15Speaker 1: point where we looked at you girls and you weren't
- 15:17Speaker 1: even sweating during the game. Yeah, it's pretty uncommon for basketball.
- 15:23Speaker 1: But again, a lot of good things. Future is bright.
- 15:26Speaker 1: We got a little bit of some travel basketball happening
- 15:29Speaker 1: soon for a couple of months with the Hubilton team
- 15:32Speaker 1: another team, and then I got to mix in some
- 15:35Speaker 1: travel softball. But that's gonna be pretty much summertime because
- 15:38Speaker 1: your season's gonna kick off in a couple of weeks
- 15:40Speaker 1: and we're not gonna do too much get together travel
- 15:43Speaker 1: softball with already going six days a week for normal softball.
- 15:48Speaker 1: But what are you more excited for? Some travel basketball
- 15:51Speaker 1: or modified softball or travel softball?
- 15:55Speaker 2: Travel basketball and travel softball.
- 15:58Speaker 1: That'd be cool, right, I mean, I think you're modified up.
- 16:00Speaker 1: All will be cool. It's just tough because our season
- 16:03Speaker 1: starts in the middle of March, the end of March
- 16:06Speaker 1: and is done by the end of May. Yeah, and
- 16:09Speaker 1: most of this stuff is indoors, and it's it's a lot.
- 16:13Speaker 1: It gets repetitious, but hopefully, hopefully you'll have some fun
- 16:18Speaker 1: because at the end of the day, Bud, after your
- 16:20Speaker 1: first year modified, you only have one, maybe three years left,
- 16:23Speaker 1: and then you'll only have three or four and then
- 16:25Speaker 1: you'll be in college. It goes by quick. And it's
- 16:29Speaker 1: a grind. I mean, it is a grind that winter
- 16:31Speaker 1: and sports, isn't it, man, A little bit of it.
- 16:34Speaker 1: It's been weird not having anything to do, Doesn't it
- 16:37Speaker 1: Like I don't know what to do when I don't
- 16:38Speaker 1: have eight million things to do?
- 16:40Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 16:41Speaker 1: And somehow we turned boredom into a card empire. It
- 16:45Speaker 1: got out of control quickly, and I need you to
- 16:47Speaker 1: help me reel it in. Okay, explain what I mean
- 16:50Speaker 1: by a card empire? What have we been up to?
- 16:53Speaker 2: We just bought and got in one? So many cards?
- 16:58Speaker 1: Gotten one? Gotten? Hey, but gotten one? I like my song?
- 17:04Speaker 1: Sure that means okay, bought? What have we bought? Was
- 17:09Speaker 1: there any that you're like? Super so?
- 17:11Speaker 2: Do I like the b NBA cards?
- 17:16Speaker 1: You were really into WNBA cards for some reason, aren't we?
- 17:19Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 17:20Speaker 1: I feel like we started off just kind of a
- 17:22Speaker 1: little bit of some football, like some personal collection stuff, like, hey,
- 17:26Speaker 1: you like the Kansas City Chiefs. I like the Steelers mostly.
- 17:29Speaker 1: I like the Pirates. You know, Isla was a Bills fan,
- 17:33Speaker 1: and we were just kind of were like, Oh, that's
- 17:35Speaker 1: a deal here, that's a deal here. And then next thing,
- 17:37Speaker 1: you know, we got really hooked into w NBA baseball.
- 17:41Speaker 1: I mean, I'm sitting here looking at what four boxes
- 17:43Speaker 1: of baseball cards and we got another one coming in?
- 17:47Speaker 2: Ye?
- 17:47Speaker 1: Are they all the gqs?
- 17:50Speaker 2: No?
- 17:50Speaker 1: We got one prison So it's escalated a little bit.
- 17:55Speaker 1: But why why do you like collecting? Like what's the
- 17:58Speaker 1: fun part of it? Is it getting the actual cards,
- 18:00Speaker 1: organizing the cards, the thrill of what do I get?
- 18:02Speaker 1: Because tell people what you've really enjoyed. I guess watching
- 18:06Speaker 1: that I don't personally love, but it is kind of cool.
- 18:08Speaker 1: The breaks. For anybody that doesn't know what a card
- 18:11Speaker 1: break is, explain it to them.
- 18:13Speaker 2: Yeah, so people like get a bunch of boxes of
- 18:17Speaker 2: cards and whatever sport and they'll like auction off teams
- 18:22Speaker 2: or players and you get all of that team or
- 18:26Speaker 2: player out of the box. However many boxes they open.
- 18:30Speaker 1: So we have been there's been one that we we
- 18:34Speaker 1: like a little bit. I feel like we keep gravitating to.
- 18:38Speaker 1: Gets up at like seven thirty in the morning, Rip breaks,
- 18:40Speaker 1: Rip Hamilton breaks. And it's been a lot of fun.
- 18:44Speaker 1: We've spent a little bit of We today, what did
- 18:46Speaker 1: we get? We bought wings the Wings, but we didn't
- 18:50Speaker 1: get Paige and we didn't get James. James, she said,
- 18:54Speaker 1: we did all right? I'm not so sure. Oh what
- 18:57Speaker 1: was that? I look, did you tell me we did good?
- 18:59Speaker 1: But we really didn't?
- 19:00Speaker 2: We did?
- 19:01Speaker 1: We did? I guess we'll see when they come in. Yeah,
- 19:04Speaker 1: what's the giveaway count up to today? How many of
- 19:06Speaker 1: giveaways you want?
- 19:07Speaker 2: Four or five?
- 19:08Speaker 1: How many of you won? Since we pressed record? After this?
- 19:11Speaker 1: Are we going to see if we can get a
- 19:12Speaker 1: couple more one? I have a contest. Yeah, I will
- 19:14Speaker 1: set a time frame to see who can win the
- 19:16Speaker 1: most gibees and whoever doesn't has to do how many
- 19:19Speaker 1: push ups?
- 19:20Speaker 2: Five?
- 19:21Speaker 1: Let's go ten? Five is week ten push ups to
- 19:25Speaker 1: whoever doesn't win in an hour? Okay, all right, who's
- 19:28Speaker 1: gonna win? Me? Yeah? You're right me? So it's is
- 19:32Speaker 1: it like the we haven't really bought too many boxes
- 19:35Speaker 1: like so, but you have? You got the Halloween football ones?
- 19:38Speaker 1: We bought that other pack of football ones? Like? Do
- 19:40Speaker 1: you like opening them and looking through them that way? Better?
- 19:43Speaker 1: Do you like these random breaks where people are opening
- 19:46Speaker 1: the cars and randomly selling to you or sending to
- 19:48Speaker 1: you a little better? Like? What is it?
- 19:50Speaker 2: I like breaks and opening?
- 19:54Speaker 1: Well? I asked which one of those two you liked better,
- 19:55Speaker 1: and you said you like them both.
- 19:57Speaker 2: I do like them. Vote, I just don't know. I
- 19:59Speaker 2: like being surprised.
- 20:03Speaker 1: It's pretty cool. And then we've tried to go live
- 20:07Speaker 1: a couple of times and sell some cards. How's that
- 20:08Speaker 1: been working out?
- 20:09Speaker 2: Not good.
- 20:11Speaker 1: First time, we had no idea. We thought we had
- 20:13Speaker 1: an idea, we had a great setup, and then we
- 20:15Speaker 1: did this and people were coming in and we just
- 20:18Speaker 1: really weren't sure what we were doing. Yeah, today I
- 20:21Speaker 1: felt like we were prepared, like we were ready to go.
- 20:23Speaker 1: We had all the categories, we had all the buttons,
- 20:26Speaker 1: we had the whole setup. We had been three D
- 20:28Speaker 1: printing card stands. We were ready. We organized our cards
- 20:31Speaker 1: in a cardboard whole storage system. We were ready. We
- 20:36Speaker 1: had like two comments in an hour, no sales. But
- 20:40Speaker 1: I mean, let's be honest, it takes time. I mean,
- 20:42Speaker 1: how many times did you get in there? And first
- 20:44Speaker 1: time streamers are out there just killing it? Did you
- 20:48Speaker 1: get the itch? Did you just open the app and
- 20:51Speaker 1: you didn't? It looked like the app.
- 20:54Speaker 2: I did it.
- 20:54Speaker 1: You're gonna lie to all of our listeners right now.
- 20:56Speaker 2: I did it.
- 20:57Speaker 1: Okay, So of all the things, if you can only
- 21:00Speaker 1: do one more, would it be breaking, ripping or which
- 21:04Speaker 1: sounds terrible, I could break it down. Would you rather
- 21:06Speaker 1: do break, rip or sell? Like if you were super Like,
- 21:09Speaker 1: if we went out there today sold for an hour
- 21:11Speaker 1: and made like three hundred bucks, would you have been
- 21:13Speaker 1: hooked a little bit on that or just yeah, yeah,
- 21:17Speaker 1: maybe we need to you know, we need to get
- 21:19Speaker 1: to the point where we be a little consistent, right,
- 21:22Speaker 1: have some scheduled shows, build some hype, and then we
- 21:26Speaker 1: get to a point where were start doing some giveaways.
- 21:29Speaker 1: You like those gibees, don't you.
- 21:31Speaker 2: I like winning them, and.
- 21:32Speaker 1: Then maybe we figure out to the point where eventually
- 21:34Speaker 1: we slowly get to the point where we do our
- 21:36Speaker 1: first break. Then it's the best of both worlds. You're breaking,
- 21:40Speaker 1: you're ripping, and you're selling. But I think trying to
- 21:43Speaker 1: build it back up with some singles is it's going
- 21:45Speaker 1: to be difficult, but it's going to be fun, right Yeah.
- 21:48Speaker 1: And we also still have them on eBay, we have
- 21:50Speaker 1: them on collects, we have them out there, so yeah,
- 21:53Speaker 1: it'll be it'll be fun, I think to eventually be
- 21:57Speaker 1: able to find it and giveaways. And you have to
- 21:59Speaker 1: imagine all the those really good ones that you're in
- 22:01Speaker 1: that you're seeing very successful streamers. They didn't start yesterday,
- 22:04Speaker 1: they didn't start today. They've been added a hot minute
- 22:08Speaker 1: and they've been collected in a while. Right, you probably
- 22:10Speaker 1: don't have a favorite card yet, or do you like
- 22:12Speaker 1: one that just pops in and you're like that one's cool. Yeah,
- 22:15Speaker 1: but I think two for me, not only is it
- 22:18Speaker 1: giving us something to hang out and bond over, Like,
- 22:21Speaker 1: it's been pretty cool researching and learning. Like just over
- 22:23Speaker 1: the last couple of weeks, I feel like we both
- 22:25Speaker 1: have learned a lot, especially about the WNBA cards. And
- 22:28Speaker 1: somebody did pop into our chat earlier when we were selling,
- 22:31Speaker 1: was like, yeah, accidentally sold a silver card for I
- 22:35Speaker 1: thought it was a base. So that happens, you know,
- 22:39Speaker 1: But they're doing it for their kid as well, like
- 22:42Speaker 1: losing some money but making some memories, And that's kind
- 22:46Speaker 1: of how life is as an adult, isn't it. Yeah, Yeah,
- 22:52Speaker 1: you know your kid. Oh you recently went to Crumble too,
- 22:55Speaker 1: talk about it. You had like a dream day Crumble
- 23:01Speaker 1: Jersey Mics the same.
- 23:03Speaker 2: Day and a trampoline park I didn't think.
- 23:07Speaker 1: You were a huge trampoline Parker.
- 23:09Speaker 2: I like it fun.
- 23:11Speaker 1: I like it. It's fun. Turn into a robot, I
- 23:15Speaker 1: like it. It's fun. Trampoline park I like it. It's fun.
- 23:19Speaker 1: We like so much about it. I'm like terrified of
- 23:22Speaker 1: them because I just feel like so many people get
- 23:24Speaker 1: hurt on trampolines.
- 23:25Speaker 2: I don't know. I just the one that we go
- 23:28Speaker 2: to has like rock climbing. It has like a monkey
- 23:33Speaker 2: jim or whatever.
- 23:34Speaker 1: You call a jungle gym. Did you call the jungle
- 23:38Speaker 1: gym a monkey jim? Oh my gosh. I like to
- 23:41Speaker 1: go to the trampoline park. I like it. I like
- 23:44Speaker 1: monkey jim, like a monkey nan jim. No gym describe
- 23:49Speaker 1: to anybody everybody?
- 23:50Speaker 2: What uh?
- 23:51Speaker 1: What's what a monkey gym is? For them that are
- 23:54Speaker 1: super confused, like.
- 23:55Speaker 2: Me, it has like slides and like monkeys.
- 24:00Speaker 1: No, like whoa you couldn't even take two seconds to
- 24:03Speaker 1: turn your ringer off. We're on a podcast. We're professionals here.
- 24:07Speaker 1: I'm just kidding. Go back to the monkey jym.
- 24:10Speaker 2: It has like climbing things and like, are.
- 24:14Speaker 1: You okay over there? Are you having like what not? Withdrawal?
- 24:17Speaker 2: Right now?
- 24:17Speaker 1: I haven't want to give away I'm having a meltdown.
- 24:20Speaker 1: I'm going to crash.
- 24:22Speaker 2: How And it has like those rope things where your
- 24:27Speaker 2: feet can fall through them.
- 24:30Speaker 1: You are not great at describing, you know, So a
- 24:33Speaker 1: monkey jam as like rock things and rope things where
- 24:37Speaker 1: your feet can fall through.
- 24:39Speaker 2: And it has like a ball pit at the bottom.
- 24:43Speaker 2: So like you slide into ballpits and it has like it.
- 24:47Speaker 2: They're up to my shins the ball pits, so babies,
- 24:53Speaker 2: we'll probably get buried in them.
- 24:55Speaker 1: I don't think you would just let a baby go
- 24:58Speaker 1: on a rock wall.
- 24:59Speaker 2: No. Oh, if the rock all is a separate, gated area.
- 25:03Speaker 1: Did you do the rock wall?
- 25:04Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 25:05Speaker 1: Do you have to wear like a harness in case
- 25:06Speaker 1: you fall?
- 25:07Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 25:08Speaker 1: Were you scared to fall?
- 25:10Speaker 2: Yes? It's scary jumping off of them, like when you
- 25:12Speaker 2: get to the top.
- 25:13Speaker 1: You got all the way to the top, yeah, and
- 25:15Speaker 1: then is there a bel the ring?
- 25:17Speaker 2: No? And then you just jump off of them and
- 25:20Speaker 2: let it fall you and it's scary.
- 25:25Speaker 1: Interesting. Did you do it once? Twice?
- 25:28Speaker 2: I did all four rock walls.
- 25:31Speaker 1: The first time? You ever did it? Were you scared
- 25:33Speaker 1: to jump?
- 25:34Speaker 2: Yeah? I didn't jump the first time. I went like
- 25:36Speaker 2: two feet off the air, and then I jumped. I
- 25:39Speaker 2: climbed all the way back down.
- 25:40Speaker 1: You climbed back down because you were so scared?
- 25:43Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 25:43Speaker 1: Was the person like, you can't do that?
- 25:45Speaker 2: No, you can climb up and climb down.
- 25:48Speaker 1: What if there's people underneath you?
- 25:49Speaker 2: No, there's like it's single.
- 25:52Speaker 1: I've never been to one, don't I'm getting a very
- 25:55Speaker 1: bad representation visually from you.
- 25:58Speaker 2: There's five different ones and they're like some of them
- 26:03Speaker 2: are like foam walls, and then you have like foam
- 26:07Speaker 2: not foam, like foam, and it has like white and
- 26:13Speaker 2: it has metal or something underneath it, like all the blocks.
- 26:17Speaker 2: Like there was there's circle ones where there's circles and
- 26:20Speaker 2: you climb up and touch it and then you go down.
- 26:23Speaker 2: And then the one next to it there's like a
- 26:25Speaker 2: ladder with like foam soft stuff over it and you
- 26:28Speaker 2: can climb the ladder and then jump down. And then
- 26:31Speaker 2: there's one with metal planets like planets, and then yeah,
- 26:35Speaker 2: and there's one where it's like a zigzag on one
- 26:37Speaker 2: side and a zigzag on the other and you have
- 26:39Speaker 2: to try to like put your feet on both sides
- 26:41Speaker 2: and then go to the next level.
- 26:42Speaker 1: Interesting, that's your So that's your favorite part, like the
- 26:45Speaker 1: rock walls over the trampoline park or do you like
- 26:48Speaker 1: the buonce?
- 26:49Speaker 2: I like the rock walls.
- 26:50Speaker 1: They play House of Pain while you're there, No, you
- 26:52Speaker 1: know what that is? Nope, so they could have Yeah,
- 26:55Speaker 1: I play it for you after.
- 26:57Speaker 2: There's also like this dodgeball where where there's just walls
- 27:01Speaker 2: all around it, and it's just a dodgeball area with
- 27:04Speaker 2: a bunch of dodgeballs and trampolines inside of it.
- 27:07Speaker 1: Did you play that?
- 27:08Speaker 2: No, because there was these guys in there the whole
- 27:11Speaker 2: time that were just chucking balls at you like grown men, no,
- 27:16Speaker 2: like teenage boys.
- 27:19Speaker 1: Tell you what if we go in there and there,
- 27:22Speaker 1: you'll be on my team. We'll be all right, I'll
- 27:23Speaker 1: stretch out, I'll warm my arm up, we'll get them out.
- 27:28Speaker 2: And there's this basketball enclosed area too, where it's like
- 27:32Speaker 2: a trampoline, but not a trampoline, like it's kind of bounty,
- 27:36Speaker 2: but it's more like like foamy and stuff.
- 27:39Speaker 1: Got you like an air mat, I know, got you.
- 27:45Speaker 2: And then there's like five basketballs in there. Yeah, when
- 27:47Speaker 2: no one else was in.
- 27:48Speaker 1: There, so you just did things when there's nobody around. No,
- 27:53Speaker 1: we want to try to be mister beast and just
- 27:55Speaker 1: rent out places so low by yourself. No, it'd be
- 27:58Speaker 1: pretty cool. Yeah, all right, well let's let's wrap this up.
- 28:04Speaker 1: All right. It's been fun. Yeah, time flies when you're
- 28:06Speaker 1: having fun. Right. Yeah, got off to a rough start
- 28:09Speaker 1: with our one word answers. But we got there, didn't we?
- 28:13Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 28:13Speaker 1: All right, well, thanks for taking some time out of
- 28:15Speaker 1: your busy preteen life last day at the time of
- 28:18Speaker 1: the recording of your mid Winter Break, and Sissy hopefully
- 28:22Speaker 1: makes it to the championship game so we can have
- 28:24Speaker 1: pure chaos next weekend with trying to be in three
- 28:27Speaker 1: places at one time, all three kids playing basketball.
- 28:30Speaker 2: Technically two places that one.
- 28:32Speaker 1: Maybe we don't know, but maybe that'd be handy. But
- 28:38Speaker 1: either way, anybody listen can't think enough. Check out the
- 28:40Speaker 1: friends of the show in the all the links in
- 28:42Speaker 1: the description some Squatch juice. You have a Squatch juicer,
- 28:46Speaker 1: you like it? Hydration is good, live bearded? You don't
- 28:51Speaker 1: have a beard, but they have soap smells good. But
- 28:54Speaker 1: either way, we'll be back next week. We got some food,
- 28:57Speaker 1: We probably got some leftovers. We're gonna have some what
- 29:01Speaker 1: do we make of for dinner?
- 29:02Speaker 2: Pizza bagels, pizza muffins, pizza muffins that.
- 29:06Speaker 1: We stole the muffins from our neighbors next door because
- 29:10Speaker 1: they're out of town in Vegas, and the neighbors are
- 29:12Speaker 1: my parents and her grandparents, so they're listening to this.
- 29:15Speaker 1: Thanks for the muffins, cheese, and it's don't we work?
