- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:30Today's question, when are you at your best?
- 0:34So stop and pause and think about this because we don't
- 0:37operate at our best all the time.
- 0:39I mean, there's just no way that we could constantly 1000% of the
- 0:43time be 100, you know, at our best.
- 0:47It just doesn't doesn't work that way because we're human
- 0:50beings and things fluctuate. Everything fluctuates and it's
- 0:53really important to remember that, that the fluctuation is,
- 0:57it's real. The fluctuation is not something
- 1:00that is, you know, I, it doesn't make you broken.
- 1:05I, I have a lot of people that always ask that question.
- 1:07Well, I must be screwed up. And I'm like, no, no, no, you're
- 1:10just human. And that's kind of how it works
- 1:12when you're human. Things are back and forth,
- 1:16things are up and down. We ebb and flow.
- 1:18And that's just how our, our, our flow to nature works.
- 1:22We are part of nature. So the ebb and the flow is part
- 1:26of it. You know, just like seasons and
- 1:28everything else. You have times when things are
- 1:30on point and you have times when things are not great.
- 1:33It's kind of like if you sit down and you go to write
- 1:35something, like I was working on something this morning and I was
- 1:38writing and I was like, you know, it was before I came out
- 1:42here to the chickens and I was trying to decide what I was
- 1:45going to talk to you guys about today.
- 1:46And I was like, I just don't feel like writing right now.
- 1:49And then I stopped and paused and I was like, huh, this is
- 1:51interesting. I'm not at my best in this
- 1:54moment to write. I might be at my best at this
- 1:57moment to watch a movie, but I'm certainly not at my best to
- 2:01write. So I just stopped and I said,
- 2:03OK, I, I, I, it's just not, it's not clicking.
- 2:07And then the real question comes back to, OK, so when am I my
- 2:11best to write or whatever else you may be doing?
- 2:14I put it to you as a general question, when are you at your
- 2:16best? But I wanted to give you the
- 2:18example so you could see it can, it can go into specific, very
- 2:22specific things and very different things.
- 2:25So that it's it, it is a ebb, like I said, an ebb and flow
- 2:29certain things. So am I my best to record you a
- 2:32podcast right now? Absolutely, because it's part of
- 2:35the reason why I do this from here is because when I come out
- 2:37here, I just am generally very happy out here.
- 2:42It is awesome with my chickens. I love them.
- 2:45I love their quirky behaviors. I love how they show up and you
- 2:49know, are kind to each other because lots of times you hear
- 2:52chickens are not kind to each other.
- 2:55But here it's great. And I've created this little
- 2:59world, if you will, for them and for me and for my family.
- 3:03And it's part of my mental well-being.
- 3:07I know I've told you all that before, but I can tell you when
- 3:10I come out here, it's like a reset button.
- 3:12It's like a push and it's like instantaneously I start to feel
- 3:17better when I go and collect their eggs, when I see them
- 3:20doing something or trying snacks that I gave them, or I create
- 3:23something new and they're all curious about it.
- 3:25And I think, wow, it's amazing to me when I look at how far
- 3:29they've come from the little tiny chicks, you know, in there
- 3:33when we first got them as little tiny chicks and then now that
- 3:37they're the big girls and they're out here and there,
- 3:39they're constantly in motion, always digging, always looking
- 3:43for things, always having fun, rototilling my gardens.
- 3:47For me, it's it just truly brings me a different level of
- 3:52peace and tranquility and joy. So what I'm trying to express to
- 3:56you in this is where do you find that?
- 3:59Where do you, when you're at your best, where do you find it?
- 4:03How do you go reset to it? What are the things that you
- 4:06know are your go TOS? So some people don't know those
- 4:11go TOS. They say, well, I just have to
- 4:13shake it off yes, but there are things that can bring you there
- 4:16quicker for I have a I have a bunch of different little ones.
- 4:19So I know I grew up with a dad who always went to Dunkin'
- 4:23Donuts, grew up in New England. Dunkin' Donuts is New England,
- 4:27right? That is just, that is the
- 4:29essence of the whole Dunkin' Donuts world, New England.
- 4:34And my father was constantly going and getting coffee
- 4:38throughout the day. And coffee and a paper cup with
- 4:41a Dunkin' Donuts logo is something special in my world.
- 4:45Every so often I have to just go to Dunkin' Donuts and get a
- 4:49coffee because it reminds me and my dad and it's a total reset.
- 4:52Now, coffee in general will do that, but I don't go to coffee
- 4:57like that. It's just, it's not my thing.
- 5:00But the Dunkin' Donuts 10, that's a huge reset.
- 5:03Taking time to sit and color with actual Crayola crayons, a
- 5:07huge reset for me if I just pull them out.
- 5:10I have all the fancy pencils, I have everything else and I love
- 5:13using my pencils all the time. But Crayola crayons, they have
- 5:18that smell just like play DoH. You know, it's an instant reset.
- 5:22It makes your brain go to a different place.
- 5:25And we all have those things. We all have.
- 5:28You know, I have a client whose grandmothers Italian, and she'll
- 5:32say every time that I walk in and I smell that Italian sauce
- 5:36or, you know, cooking, or she calls it gravy, but it's
- 5:39cooking. It's just like, oh, right away
- 5:41she feels like totally comfort. And that's important to us as
- 5:47human beings to be able to do those things.
- 5:49Hit the reset button, find when you're at your best and then
- 5:53say, OK, now I feel good again, centered and then I can go out
- 5:58and do what I need to do to be my best.
- 6:00But it's don't don't overlook those little things because
- 6:04they're super important. So hopefully you find out when
- 6:08you're your best, you know it and you know how to get back
- 6:10there by having those little triggers.
- 6:12All right, my friends, I will see you tomorrow and I hope you
- 6:15have a blessed day. Bye.
