- 0:01SPEAKER_00: Hello, and welcome to T-Bone Sports One Fan All Game Podcast 14.
- 0:22SPEAKER_00: It is Thursday, September 17th, week three or week two of the NFL officially kicks off tonight.
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: Thursday night football, the first one of the regular season between the Detroit Lions and the Buffalo Bills.
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: The Bills will be opening up their new stadium, Hallmart Stadium in Buffalo, New York.
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: Should be an exciting game.
- 0:44SPEAKER_00: Should be actually really cool to be able to see the Bills open their brand new stadium, which got finished this year.
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: You know, there there have been definitely some people complaining about their view, things in the way.
- 0:57SPEAKER_00: You know, it's still an outdoor stadium, you know, so the elements there in Buffalo in the wintertime will will still be in play, but you know, field where the snow will melt, and you know, the stadium is designed to kind of allow the snow to get out of there quickly so they don't have to have the fans going and shovel.
- 1:14SPEAKER_00: You can probably bet, probably by now there are people getting ready to start tailgating.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: The Bills are five and a half point favorites over to the Detroit Lions, both coming off week one wins.
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: Obviously, Buffalo beating the Tennessee Titans 36-31, a little bit closer than I think a lot of people thought, but you know, they're coming off that week one win.
- 1:37SPEAKER_00: And, you know, on the road to open up is is always tough.
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: And, you know, to be able to have a week two opening home opener is gonna be fantastic.
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: I think the NFL did a great job in having this be the first Thursday night game of the year, not necessarily a divisional game, but a non-conference game, an interconference game, which is, I think, awesome, you know, to open up the Bills' new stadium.
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: You know, the Lions are actually obviously coming off that overtime victory against the New Orleans Saints 30 to 31.
- 2:07SPEAKER_00: And as I talked about yesterday or the other day in the podcast, you know, when when you go into overtime and then the new overtime rules where one team scores a touchdown, the other team is allowed to score a touchdown as well, or if they don't, you know, obviously the game is over.
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: But in the Saints aspect, go down, score a touchdown, you know, there's still a minute and a half left in the game.
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: And overtime, yeah, you may as well try to go for the two, because if you go for you know the tie, you know, yeah, and you you prevent the you know, the the other team, and in this case the Detroit Lions from scoring great, it's a tie.
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: But if Detroit is able to march down the field, get into field goal range, kick a field goal, and end the game, you know, the ri the risk reward is pretty much the same for for both ways, and I applaud the Saints for trying to go for the tie.
- 2:58SPEAKER_00: Tonight's game should be really, really good.
- 3:00SPEAKER_00: You know, you got Jared Goth against you know Jared Allen.
- 3:03SPEAKER_00: You know, Jared Allen is a great young quarterback.
- 3:05SPEAKER_00: Goth has been in the league a little longer and and definitely has that ability, but I think this game is is gonna be really, really good.
- 3:13SPEAKER_00: And then obviously Sunday, the 20th of September, we have you know week two, and all the rest of the teams will be playing.
- 3:22SPEAKER_00: So the early games are Eagles, Titans.
- 3:26SPEAKER_00: Eagles are seven-point favorites in that game.
- 3:29SPEAKER_00: That game, I think obviously we know the Eagles are are probably you know the hands-down favorite in that one.
- 3:35SPEAKER_00: You know, the Titans are coming off a week one loss, but they're still a young team.
- 3:38SPEAKER_00: They got a new quarterback, they got a young quarterback, they got a new offensive coordinator, new a new off, you know, whole new coaching staff.
- 3:44SPEAKER_00: So I think that game should be, you know, that that should be a really good game.
- 3:49SPEAKER_00: You know, the Steelers and Patriots, that's that's gonna be another really good game, you know, with it with the Patriots being five and a half points favorites in that one.
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: You know, they're coming off that that Super Bowl loss, you know, does that Super Bowl hangover you know take effect into week two, even though they were, you know, they you know, they lost game, they lost their week one game.
- 4:09SPEAKER_00: And again, that's this the the the dreaded Super Bowl hangover.
- 4:13SPEAKER_00: Is there such a thing?
- 4:14SPEAKER_00: Obviously, we saw it last year with the Kansas City Chiefs.
- 4:18SPEAKER_00: This year we we saw it in week one with the New England Patriots and and the Steelers were able to win their week one game.
- 4:25SPEAKER_00: The Bears and Vikings, that you know, uh the Bears coming off that 59 point onslaught that they put on.
- 4:32SPEAKER_00: Do I see that happening again?
- 4:35SPEAKER_00: No.
- 4:35SPEAKER_00: I I think the Vikings are gonna give them a little bit of a more of a of a of a game, but then again, you know, you you got another young rook second-year quarterback that's playing really, really well, and or third-year quarterback that's playing really well, and and we'll see how how these guys go, you know, when when they're there and and they play, and and we'll we'll see what happens.
- 4:56SPEAKER_00: You know, Kyla Murray can maybe have a bit of a better game.
- 4:59SPEAKER_00: Panthers, Falcons, you know, two and a half favorites for the Panthers.
- 5:03SPEAKER_00: That's you know, two teams that are struggling again, two teams we know that probably really won't do a whole lot this year.
- 5:10SPEAKER_00: Packers and Jets.
- 5:12SPEAKER_00: Packers will probably win that game, although the Jets were able to pull off a week one victory, which is beyond any what I think anybody ever thought.
- 5:19SPEAKER_00: The Saints and Ravens, that'll be a good game.
- 5:22SPEAKER_00: Obviously, the Ravens are eight and a half, eight-point favorites, but another early game, and and you know, the Saints are coming off that big emotional overtime loss, so it'll be interesting to see how they re-rebound.
- 5:33SPEAKER_00: Obviously, we know the Ravens can can play really where they will.
- 5:37SPEAKER_00: The Bengals, Texans, that that's another early game.
- 5:39SPEAKER_00: That should be a good game.
- 5:42SPEAKER_00: Browns, Buccaneers, obviously we know the Buccaneers are probably gonna win that game.
- 5:46SPEAKER_00: You know, the the the You know, we know that with the You know, the Browns, they're just struggling and they just don't have a quarterback, and they really just they're gonna struggle again this year.
- 6:02SPEAKER_00: Raiders, Chargers is the first early game, big divisional game, both teams coming off one, the Chargers losing week one against the Cardinals, which probably is a shock to them, and I think a lot of people then think what's gonna happen.
- 6:16SPEAKER_00: The Raiders obviously beating the Dolphins again, another team that's really not gonna do anything this year along with the Raiders.
- 6:22SPEAKER_00: So, you know, both teams will be one and one, and we'll we'll see.
- 6:27SPEAKER_00: The other early game is obviously the Broncos and Jaguars.
- 6:31SPEAKER_00: Broncos coming off that big blowout loss against week one against the Kansas City Chiefs.
- 6:36SPEAKER_00: We'll see how they bounce back a lot of missed tackles, a lot of other issues with with that game.
- 6:44SPEAKER_00: You know, obviously we know there there were penalties that weren't called on the Chiefs, you know, some penalties that were called against the Broncos that probably shouldn't have been, but you know, you you got the Chiefs playing and they're gonna get favorable calls.
- 6:59SPEAKER_00: Seahawks, Cardinals, again, that should be an interesting game, a divisional game.
- 7:04SPEAKER_00: Obviously, we know the Cardinals aren't gonna really do anything.
- 7:06SPEAKER_00: They are playing defending Super Bowl champs, but with being the defending Super Bowl champs, you got that big target on your back.
- 7:12SPEAKER_00: You got that thing to see who who really is gonna come back and and be that team that to really beat you, and and you know everybody's gonna give the the Seahawks their best shot.
- 7:26SPEAKER_00: 49ers, Dolphins, 49ers will probably win that game.
- 7:30SPEAKER_00: Obviously, they're coming off that big emotional win in Australia over the the LA Rams, Commanders, Cowboys, another big divisional game.
- 7:39SPEAKER_00: That that should be that that'll be a good one.
- 7:42SPEAKER_00: Sunday night football, you know, back-to-back primetime games for the Chiefs.
- 7:46SPEAKER_00: Obviously, we knew that was gonna happen with Patrick Mahomes coming back.
- 7:50SPEAKER_00: Colts, Chiefs, probably the I I'll say, you know, the the the Chiefs will probably win that game.
- 7:57SPEAKER_00: The Monday night game, Giants and Rams.
- 8:00SPEAKER_00: So that's another big emotional game for for the Broncos, and and we'll see how you know we'll see how that goes.
- 8:12SPEAKER_00: I'll I'll be excited to see that game.
- 8:14SPEAKER_00: I just hope the Broncos can come back.
- 8:16SPEAKER_00: You know, when when you played as poorly as you did and you didn't execute, and let's hope the Broncos come back.
- 8:24SPEAKER_00: You know they're gonna want to play better.
- 8:25SPEAKER_00: You know, last year the Jaguars came into Denver and blew us out and gave the Broncos, you know, one of their three losses, and and you know, their only other loss other than the first two at the beginning of the season.
- 8:36SPEAKER_00: So let's see how the Broncos bounce back and play on this one.
- 8:40SPEAKER_00: It'll be a different atmosphere.
- 8:41SPEAKER_00: You know, they're at home, they'll they'll have the home field advantage, and and we'll see what happens.
- 8:46SPEAKER_00: But again, you know, Jacksonville is one of those up and down, up and down, up and down teams, and and let's hope the Broncos don't have another up and down season.
- 8:53SPEAKER_00: But as I've said before, this certain this first six games that the Broncos have is a huge continent of games.
- 9:00SPEAKER_00: If they can wind up three and three, I think a lot of people will be happy with that.
- 9:03SPEAKER_00: I don't think it I think it's too early to take the play calling away from Davis Webb, although a lot of the sports stations and sports stock stations out here in Colorado, you know, and around the league and around the around everywhere want the Broncos, you know, Sean Payton to take the play calling back duties back away from from Davis Webb.
- 9:22SPEAKER_00: But let's let's wait.
- 9:23SPEAKER_00: It's a little early.
- 9:24SPEAKER_00: Let's let's see how he does in week two to see if it's worth that opportunity to to really, really play.
- 9:32SPEAKER_00: And we'll see how, you know, we'll see how week two goes.
- 9:35SPEAKER_00: But, you know, week two and you know, what the NFL these days nowadays is is week to week and it's crazy, and it'll be exciting to see Thursday night football.
- 9:45SPEAKER_00: We will be discussing week three of college football next.
- 9:56SPEAKER_00: Week three of college football.
- 9:58SPEAKER_00: And just like the NFL, obviously week to week, each team is coming off of a crazy whatever.
- 10:05SPEAKER_00: And, you know, both the CU Buffaloes and Alabama Crimson Tide are both coming off wins, but you know, one had to come back, the other one obviously had to, you know, was just an absolute blowout.
- 10:19SPEAKER_00: There is a Thursday night game between Syracuse and Pittsburgh.
- 10:22SPEAKER_00: Interesting that college football is is competing against the NFL.
- 10:26SPEAKER_00: There's obviously one Friday night game, a couple Friday night games, and then Saturday, September 19th.
- 10:32SPEAKER_00: Florida State, Alabama, Alabama 10.5 point favorites.
- 10:38SPEAKER_00: But, you know, they they are, you know, that's that's one of those games that I would say, you know, they are playing in Alabama.
- 10:46SPEAKER_00: Florida is traveling to Alabama.
- 10:48SPEAKER_00: Alabama's a tough play tough play to tough place to play.
- 10:51SPEAKER_00: They are coming off that that win against Kentucky, having to come back and and definitely playing that first that first quarter in those first couple plays in that game, just absolute pandemony and and bad for you know for both sides of the ball and and to allow a pick six to you know go down early, and then you get your own pick six to to to kind of tie it up and and kind of go back and forth, and then obviously in the second half kind of pull away a little bit.
- 11:18SPEAKER_00: And you know, that's typically not Alabama football.
- 11:20SPEAKER_00: Alabama football is you know, beat them in the first half and and pretty much let your starters rest the second half because you're so far ahead of them that you know this this will be a very good game.
- 11:31SPEAKER_00: It it'll be interesting to see how Alabama comes back.
- 11:34SPEAKER_00: You know, they are 2-0, they probably should be one and one.
- 11:37SPEAKER_00: And you know, let's see how Alabama and Debo gets these kids in Alabama to really be focused and ready to go.
- 11:45SPEAKER_00: I think last week was kind of you know a slow start, and and Alabama fans aren't used to that.
- 11:50SPEAKER_00: They're they're used to a fast start and they're used to being just very, very dominant dominant the entire season in every game.
- 11:58SPEAKER_00: And you know, with now that, you know, that the you know, he's out, you you you you really have to understand that you know that this is a totally different you know, Alabama team under, you know.
- 12:19SPEAKER_00: And it'll it'll be an interesting game to see how how it goes.
- 12:23SPEAKER_00: And when you have the way Alabama has has struggled lately, you you know the fans in Alabama aren't aren't aren't liking it and and they really, really don't they're not used to it.
- 12:40SPEAKER_00: And and I think when you have that opportunity and you have where where they have have played lately, it's it's disappointing to I think a lot of these Alabama fans, you know, they're they're so used to being, you know, so dominant and so winning.
- 13:00SPEAKER_00: And that's it's one of those, you know, things that you know they're not used to.
- 13:06SPEAKER_00: And it it's gonna be it's gonna be interesting to see how they play again this year, especially when you know the SEC season starts really rolling, and it'll it'll be it'll be a uh it'll be a really fun fun game to watch on Saturday between Alabama and Florida State, and we'll see who wins.
- 13:22SPEAKER_00: You know, still obviously we know the LSU and Old Miss Game is gonna be highly publicized and and and one of those games I think this just for this week in college football is gonna be in the limelight, and you know, we know with Lane Kevin coming back and you know it'll be an emotional game.
- 13:42SPEAKER_00: I just hope that you know the fans, you know, boo and and do do things the right way and don't don't you know throw things on the field if if things aren't going well or or whatever, and and you know, put the players from LSU and oldness in danger.
- 13:57SPEAKER_00: Remember, these are just kids, they're college kids, they're trying to play a sport that they love and you know let's let's understand and and be respectful there.
- 14:05SPEAKER_00: University of Colorado travels to Northwestern, first big, second big test of the season, you know, obviously coming off that big emotional win, one point against Georgia Tech in the big the very first game of the season, you know, you're playing another Big Ten school, another Power Four school, you know, and especially when you're coming off a big blowout win like that, this is one of those games to where it can be a letdown to where they're so emotional, they're so used to it, and they're on that high of blowing the team out, which they obviously should have done more.
- 14:35SPEAKER_00: And yesterday when I played that clip of of you know Coach Deion Sanders in the locker room going off on his players, let's hope that these players understand what, you know, let's hope he under let's hope he we understand the point he was trying to make and and that he was trying to get his players to be fired up and ready to go.
- 14:54SPEAKER_00: But, you know, when when you have an emotional game like that and you you you really and college football is so up and down, up and down, up and down that it it's gonna be a very, you know, it'll be a very interesting game.
- 15:06SPEAKER_00: Obviously, you know, CU is is three and a half point favorites, and that's that's a pretty close game.
- 15:13SPEAKER_00: I I think Northwestern is gonna give Colorado, you know, their their big, you know, a big opportunity.
- 15:18SPEAKER_00: You know, they're no they're one and oh, they they were off last week, so this will be their second game of the season.
- 15:24SPEAKER_00: So let's see how how that, you know, how is how is Northwestern going to come off being off for a week and Colorado playing?
- 15:30SPEAKER_00: And you know, sometimes when you're off on a week, and especially in college football, you know, that rust takes a little bit of time to knock off, and it can kind of really give you a slow start.
- 15:39SPEAKER_00: But on the other side of that sword and the other side of that that that street, you know, you got Colorado coming off an emotional blowout win.
- 15:47SPEAKER_00: Sometimes that can even lead you to be, you know, have a slow start, but sometimes that can lead you to be, hey, let's let's take that same, let's take the momentum from last week, let's roll it into this week and and really see if we can, you know, you know, make it make it a fun game and make it a game where you know we are gonna be a little more satisfied with the win and and really go from there and and push, push, push.
- 16:10SPEAKER_00: But, you know, Colorado, you need to throw the first punch, you need to punch Northwestern in the mouth and and see how they respond.
- 16:17SPEAKER_00: And if you get punched in the mouth first, then you need to be able to respond and and be ready to go, because it's gonna be a back and forth game, you know, when you know, Alabama needs to learn that.
- 16:27SPEAKER_00: You know, they they they kind of took it some a punch to the face early and a punch to the mouth early in that game last week against Kentucky, and and it took them a while to come back.
- 16:36SPEAKER_00: And, you know, it's it's you know, let's see how let's see how that goes.
- 16:42SPEAKER_00: Let's see how things go.
- 16:43SPEAKER_00: And and it'll be, you know, it'll be, you know, it'll be it'll be interesting to watch both these teams both coming off wins and seeing how they are.
- 16:52SPEAKER_00: One started out slow, the other one started out fast and was hot and was hot the whole game.
- 16:56SPEAKER_00: And it'll be interesting to see how both you know, both these these teams come out and and and play.
- 17:03SPEAKER_00: You know, be you know, hockey s and it'll be interesting in you know, week two, week three of college football, it'll be exciting.
- 17:11SPEAKER_00: You know, we're we're getting closer and closer to to the start of you know conference play and and let's you know, let's see where it goes from there, and it'll it'll be a it'll be a fun, fun season, and and it'll be interesting to see.
- 17:23SPEAKER_00: You know, the other big thing is how is how is oh Ohio state gonna bounce back after that that loss against Texas.
- 17:29SPEAKER_00: You know, obviously we know they are not number one anymore.
- 17:34SPEAKER_00: You know, we we we understand that because it it'll be it'll be interesting to see where where that goes and and see how you know you know where that goes.
- 17:48SPEAKER_00: Because there isn't there is a new top 25 after you know Ohio State losing to Texas.
- 17:53SPEAKER_00: Obviously, Texas moved up to number one at 3-0, Georgia is number number two, Notre Dame is at number three, Indiana is at number four, Miami is at number five, Ohio State dropped all the way to six, LSU is at seven, well, miss is at eight.
- 18:08SPEAKER_00: So, you know, seven, eight, top 25 playing Texas AM is nine, Alabama is ten.
- 18:13SPEAKER_00: They brought they were able to got get into the top ten.
- 18:16SPEAKER_00: So, you know, with with the way that with the 12 team playoffs, you know, Alabama is in that picture now, BYU is 11, USC is 12, Texas Tech is 13, Penn State is 14, Tennessee is 15, SMU is 16, Utah is 17, Iowa is 18, Michigan is 19, Missouri is 20, Oregon is 21st, Houston, 22nd, Louisville, 23rd, Oklahoma dropped all the way down to 24th, and Virginia wrap you know wraps up the top 25, you know, and and it'll it'll be in our same coaches polls sometimes.
- 18:57SPEAKER_00: What you know, the top 25 pretty much the same thing, you know, and but Washington is 24 and Oklahoma's 21.
- 19:07SPEAKER_00: So sometimes, you know, there there's a you know slight differences in in these two top 25s, but it'll it'll it'll be fun to see where things go.
- 19:17SPEAKER_00: We are inching very close to the start of hockey and their preseason.
- 19:28SPEAKER_00: So we'll give a little talk about the preseason and hockey getting ready to start.
- 19:34SPEAKER_00: Colorado Avalanche trying to see if they can get back into the Stanley Cup Finals after getting swept in the Western Conference Finals last year.
- 19:46SPEAKER_00: So hockey preseason starts Saturday, September 19th.
- 19:50SPEAKER_00: The Avalanche, well, they don't, they're not playing so far in Saturday.
- 19:57SPEAKER_00: They do play Sunday, the 20th, 5 o'clock against the Utah Mammoth.
- 20:03SPEAKER_00: So preseason game number one for Colorado.
- 20:06SPEAKER_00: Let's see how it goes.
- 20:07SPEAKER_00: You know, it'll be interesting to see, you know, a couple quick preseason games, just like the NFL NHL.
- 20:13SPEAKER_00: There's three or four games, and and you know, the end, you know, it's it's getting ready to start for college football and or NHL, and we'll see how the Rockies do.
- 20:22SPEAKER_00: One of the big things that happened during the offseason, we all know that Kale McCarr signed a huge eight-year contract, was able to get is the highest paid player in NHL history.
- 20:32SPEAKER_00: Is it worth him him being that paid that much?
- 20:35SPEAKER_00: We'll find out.
- 20:36SPEAKER_00: And and let's see if it's worth it.
- 20:38SPEAKER_00: And you know, one of the other big things the one of the big things that the Avalanche did is they made Joe Sakak the GM again.
- 20:46SPEAKER_00: And and he he's he's a great GM.
- 20:48SPEAKER_00: He he's one of those guys that can really put together a team, and can he put together a team and and really get this team ready to go and and try to play the same way they did last year, obviously winning the president's trophy, but unfortunately getting swept in the Western Conference Finals against the you know the Las Vegas Golden Knights.
- 21:07SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it'll be an interesting season to see how they go.
- 21:09SPEAKER_00: And and obviously we know Bettinar has not gotten a contract extension yet.
- 21:15SPEAKER_00: I think one of the big reasons the Avalanche are doing this is because to them, if they give him an extension and he does poorly again and gets beat in either the first round, second round, or western conference finals again, and they they don't make the Stanley Cup because it's Stanley Cup or bust, I still think for for the Avalanche, you know, without having a contract extension, you can walk away from him c free and clear, not owe him any money, especially if you do an extension, then obviously you've got to buy out his contract.
- 21:45SPEAKER_00: So he he's on one of those.
- 21:46SPEAKER_00: Okay, let's see, prove yourself again and and see if you can get another get another cup with the team you have, and let's build the team around Kale McCarr and and and see what happens.
- 21:58SPEAKER_00: You know, Nathan Mc you know and And I know injuries were a big thing, especially in that Western Conference final.
- 22:03SPEAKER_00: McCarr missed a lot of games.
- 22:05SPEAKER_00: McKinnon missed some games, you know Gabriel Lanensk, you know, just you know, coming off, you know, coming back and and his second full season being able to be back.
- 22:17SPEAKER_00: You know, let's see how the Aves do and and and see where they go.
- 22:20SPEAKER_00: But I'm excited to see where the Avalanche go and where the Avalanche play.
- 22:24SPEAKER_00: And the other season that's right around the corner is the NBA.
- 22:28SPEAKER_00: Denver, the Denver Nuggets were unable to get Jokic to sign an extension, but let's see where it goes.
- 22:36SPEAKER_00: Let's see what happens and and see if they can build, you know, build a team around him where he will sign an extension and play, or if he's just gonna walk away from basketball, because obviously, you know, in in many ways, he doesn't really need to prove anything else.
- 22:52SPEAKER_00: And and we'll see where, you know, we'll see where the Nuggets, you know, go between now and when their preseason starts, which you know, their preseason, it doesn't even start till October 4th.
- 23:06SPEAKER_00: That's their first preseason game against the Utah Jazz.
- 23:10SPEAKER_00: But again, you know, basketball starts a little later, you know, that about mid-October is is when basketball season starts.
- 23:17SPEAKER_00: Hockey is gonna start a little bit earlier this year, which which will be exciting.
- 23:21SPEAKER_00: So, you know, they're in training camp and and we'll see what happens with with the with the Nuggets.
- 23:26SPEAKER_00: You know, they really didn't do a whole lot of moves this offseason, and we'll see if that's a good thing, a bad thing, and they wanna we'll we'll see where it goes.
- 23:35SPEAKER_00: But it'll be an exciting another year for the Nuggets.
- 23:38SPEAKER_00: Obviously, you know, their playoff window is coming to a close, I think, a lot faster than a lot of people expect, but obviously I think it's still open.
- 23:46SPEAKER_00: Let's just see how they do and and and you know, let's see where they go from here.
- 23:53SPEAKER_00: You know, did see a lot of things on you know Twitter and other things about Broncos or the Nuggets trading away certain players.
