- Lucas: Velkommen tilbake, alle sammen. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna! Ready for episode 176 of Learn Norwegian with Fexingo. Lucas: We've covered a lot of verbs lately — å tenke, å trenge, å få. Today we're adding a very practical one: å ringe. Luna: Å ringe. That sounds like 'to ring' in English, like a phone ringing. Lucas: Exactly. Å ringe means 'to call' — as in making a phone call. So let's start with the base: å ringe. Luna: Å ringe. Lucas: Good. Now the present tense: jeg ringer — 'I call' or 'I am calling'. Luna: Jeg ringer. Lucas: Perfect. So if you want to say 'I call you', you say 'jeg ringer deg'. But let's keep it simple: jeg ringer. Luna: Jeg ringer. Got it. Lucas: Now let's ask a question: ringer du? 'Do you call?' or 'Are you calling?' Luna: Ringer du? Lucas: Yes. Ringer du? Luna: Ringer du. Lucas: Let's imagine you're on the phone with a friend. You could say 'jeg ringer deg' — I'm calling you. But today we focus on the verb. Luna: Okay, so 'jeg ringer' is 'I call'. And 'ringer du?' is 'do you call?' Lucas: Right. And if you want someone to call you, you say 'ring meg' — 'call me'. That's the imperative form. Luna: Ring meg. That's easy to remember. Like 'ring me' in English. Lucas: Exactly. Now let's practice with he and she. 'Han ringer' — he calls. 'Hun ringer' — she calls. Luna: Han ringer. Hun ringer. Lucas: Great. So we have: jeg ringer, du ringer, han ringer, hun ringer. All the same form. Luna: Nice and regular. So 'ringer' works for everyone in present tense. Lucas: Exactly. Let's put it in a mini scene. Imagine your phone rings. You pick up and I say 'Hei, Luna! Jeg ringer deg.' What do I mean? Luna: You're saying 'Hi Luna, I'm calling you.' Lucas: Right. And you could reply 'Å, så hyggelig at du ringer!' — 'Oh, so nice that you call!' Luna: Å, så hyggelig at du ringer. That's a good phrase. Lucas: Let's say you're expecting a call from a friend. You ask 'Ringer han i dag?' — 'Is he calling today?' Luna: Ringer han i dag? Lucas: Yes. And you can answer 'Ja, han ringer klokka fem' — 'Yes, he calls at five o'clock'. Luna: Ja, han ringer klokka fem. I like that. Lucas: Now, if you want to tell someone to call you, you say 'Ring meg i morgen' — 'Call me tomorrow'. Luna: Ring meg i morgen. Lucas: Excellent. So let's do a quick review. I'll say the English, you try the Norwegian. 'To call.' Luna: Å ringe. Lucas: 'I call.' Luna: Jeg ringer. Lucas: 'Do you call?' Luna: Ringer du? Lucas: 'Call me.' Luna: Ring meg. Lucas: 'He calls.' Luna: Han ringer. Lucas: 'She calls.' Luna: Hun ringer. Lucas: You're doing great. Now let's think about a real situation. Maybe a friend calls you. You say 'Hei! Du ringer meg!' — 'Hey! You're calling me!' Luna: Hei! Du ringer meg! That sounds natural. Lucas: And if you want to ask 'Who are you calling?' you say 'Hvem ringer du?' Luna: Hvem ringer du? Lucas: Right. So you can use 'ringer du' with a question word. Luna: That's useful. Lucas: We're learning a lot today. You say...? Luna: Hei Lucas! Hyggelig at du ringer! Lucas: Perfect! And then I say 'Ringer du meg i morgen?' Luna: Ja, jeg ringer deg i morgen. Lucas: Great dialogue. So we've practiced: å ringe, jeg ringer, ringer du, ring meg, han ringer, hun ringer. Luna: Let me try them all once more: å ringe, jeg ringer, ringer du, ring meg, han ringer, hun ringer.
