This is brought to you guys, the viewers. I was at a wedding, but you know, again, fall wedding on a Saturday. They should be outlawed. I I was doing the whole quad box on the phone thing for a little bit. The games were pretty good. I'll get into what I was able to view and and we'll go there. We will start with Indiana taking on Nebraska. My thought, kind of my general overview thought on this is same old Nebraska, same old choke job. You outplayed Indiana. You really did, except for the fourth quarter. You you missed a field goal kind of in regulation at the end of at the end of the half. You did a 16 play, 52-yard drive to miss a field goal. Then you did a 10-play, 39-yard drive to throw an interception. And then you let Indiana hang around and you actually take a 17-6 lead, and then you let Indiana go one play 75 yards. You go three and out. And then it is five play, 80 yards. And then you turn the ball over on downs. And here's where I have a problem. Here's where the problem lies with Nebraska's performance and why I say same old Nebraska. So Indiana scores a touchdown to go up three. You then have the ball at your own 44-yard line with 447 left and two timeouts. If you punt. Assuming the punt goes well and it's downed inside the 20, Indiana then on their next possession goes three and out. So let's just say you punt the ball, it gets downed at the 15. Indiana does go three plays, six yards. So they're punting from like the 10-yard line, right? The punter's standing on his own 10-yard line. You are then getting the ball at your 40 yard line again, depending on how good the punt is, you're probably getting the ball at your 40-ish yard line. Instead, your next punt, because you turn it over on down inside your territory at your 44-yard line, you forced Indiana to punt. You're you're starting your drive at your own five-yard line when you just need a field goal. To which you turn the ball over on downs. Indiana does punt it then, but there's only like 13 seconds left and the game is over. So it's same old you you outplayed Indiana. You outplayed the team with the 21-game win streak. You outplayed the defending national champions at home. The crowd was great. The atmosphere was great. You did everything right. You outgained them in total yardage. You masked them in passing. You outrushed them. You held them to three yards per carry. Penalties, seven penalties, 59 yards. You did have the turnover, as I said, the interception. You you match or you dominated them in time of possession. You doubled them up 40 to 20. You choked the game away. You had it, Matt Rule. You had it. I I missed the one play yard touchdown, so I'm not really sure whether it was a broken play or not, but that just cannot happen in the fourth quarter. The only thing you can't do is give up quick scores when you're up 17 to 6, and immediately you do you did that. Anthony Calandria played great. Josh Hoover played just as great. You held them, you held them rushing wise to three yards a carry. You outplayed him, and you lost. So that's why I say same old Nebraska choke job. And mostly I'm saying that because of the decision on fourth and nine to go from it from your own 44 yard line. Punt the ball. Your defense is playing well, really well. Punt the ball. Get the ball back. Closer to field goal. Be able to kick a field goal. Maybe be able to, you know, score a touchdown, take the lead. But that's just same old Nebraska. Somehow I knew that Nebraska was gonna blow it and and they should have won the game. So I I do feel for the Nebraska fans, but that again it it's been their their program for the better part of the last 15 years. And and and and that does kind of suck. If we go over to the 330 games. I need someone to go out to Eugene, Oregon, and look at all the football players because they're missing feet. When the phrase shoot yourself in the foot, right? There's the phrase shoot yourself in the foot. You make the mistake. You know, you're doing so well, but then you shoot yourself in the foot. You're making Oregon blew their foot clean off. Seven turnovers, five bean fumbles. Two interceptions. They lose this game 17 to 15. They still had a shot to win somehow, even with seven turnovers. Most probably because they forced three turnovers themselves. So they really negate, you know, it was a turnover differential of only minus four instead of minus seven, or this could have been a lot worse. But Oregon crowd out shout out to UCLA, right? For for winning this game. However, their vaunted rushing attack only ran for a buck forty three yards of carry. Now Oregon's rushing attack was just as bad, 2.7 yards of carry and 73 yards. Dylan Riola threw two interception, had a QBR of two. Two. They sat him down, brought in Brock Thomas, who was able to kind of pick things up and the offense was moving a little. Nico E. Maliava also threw two interceptions and left the game with injuries. So Todd Ty Diffenbach came in and kind of finished the game. But then they were kind of just run heavy from that point in time. But Oregon, the the definition of one team lost this more than the other team won this, Oregon just blew their foot clean off. It there is n th th they just have little nubs for feet at this point in time. That that's the best explanation for UCLA versus Oregon. I thought this would be a high scoring affair. Maybe it would be, if not for the seven turnovers, but when you have five fumbles, holy cow, that is embarrassing. So Oregon now has two losses. We'll have to see what happens in about three weeks when the college football playoff committee ranks these teams. But I'm telling you, the top teams in the country this year. at the end of the year are going to have minimum one loss, maybe even two. I've never been more confident of that. Oregon's got two now, one and one in the Big Ten. Big Ten. Ohio State and Indiana play this weekend. Indiana doesn't look like world beaters. So outside of Ohio State, that second spot is totally up for grabs. And Indiana still has to play Michigan. And I believe they still have to play Oregon. They do not, they don't have to play Oregon, but they do have to play, Indiana has to play Michigan and Ohio State. And Michigan can at least match up with them in the trenches not offensively, absolutely not offensively. But Oregon still has to play Ohio State, Michigan. Washington. they have to go to Illinois and they have to play Nebraska, who just played a good game. They play Nebraska this coming weekend. So the the Big Ten second spot, I do think it's more wide open than people think it is. But Oregon's just got no feet left at this point in time. Holy cow. Every time I I looked at their game on my phone when I could, it was turn Oregon was moving the ball well, moving the ball pretty well, turnover. Moving the ball pretty well, turnover. Moving the ball pretty well, turnover. Just it embarrassing if you're a Ducks fan. I I'm I'm sure. Which I I would be too if I was a Ducks fan. It's like, what are we doing? Especially fumbles. Interceptions are one thing because you can replace the quarterback. Fum balls, it's like, what are we doing? Gotta hang on to that football a little tighter. All right. All right. Texas, Oklahoma, the Red River Rivalry. Number one team in the country goes down. I guess I could have let off the show with that. But number one team in the country goes down, which is why I say we're gonna look up and and the and the top team in the country is gonna have at least one or two loss. I had tried to tell everyone that Texas's offense was not very good. And I didn't get a lot of pushback, but I didn't get a lot of people agreeing with me either. And now people are going to see that. Oklahoma did just enough to hang around. They had a block punt for a touchdown. They had an interception turn for a touchdown or a pick six. And then Arch threw a really bad interception that led to the game-winning field goal at the end of the game. However, the Arch Manning and Keon Coleman were just. Not on the same page. Like Keon didn't not come back for the ball. Arch just threw it instead of, you know, maybe taking the sack because Texas's defense played pretty well. They held Oklahoma to 238 yards of offense. But Texas, again, with the penalties, two turnovers and eight penalties for 61 yards. In the close game against Tennessee, they had like 11 for over 100 yards. Time of possession was just about equal. Oklahoma did have seven penalties. For 62 yards and zero turnovers. So that was kinda even. But this Texas offense is just not explosive at all. And Sarquet has always been known for kind of the explosive offense. Even with like Quinn Newers, like this was a vertical passing offense. With Arch Manning, it is anything but that. And he had played well and managed the game well enough because it was seventeen ten. Did they ever get this to 24 again, and like it would it was kind of on my phone. So it it was 17 10 17 17. The one good drive that Oklahoma had six play, 47 yards to tie it at 17. And then Texas from that point went punt, interception, the pick six, so punt pick six. Then Arch led them right back down the field, 77 plays, 75 yards, touchdown. Then Texas missed a field goal, and then Arch threw an interception as well. But it's not like Oklahoma's were being wor Oklahoma was being world beater on offense. This was their drive chart the entire game. Punt, punt, punt, punt, punt. That was the first quarter. Second quarter, missed field goal, end of half. Third quarter, field goal, punt. Then they did have the touchdown. Then they had the pick six. Punt, punt, field goal to win the game. So Texas again, like Nebraska, lost this game, and Oregon lost this game more than the other team won it. Indiana did did have more to do with their win than UCLA over Oregon did. But like the mistakes will kill you. And they say in the NFL on any given Sunday. This is starting to become on any given Saturday. So now both these teams are one and one in the SEC, which is amazing. Oklahoma still doesn't have an offense. Their defense is outstanding. Texas, though, has an offensive identity, non-explosive play problem. Their defense, though, is really, really good, or at least good enough. Absolutely. So the the top 10's gonna be Shaken up. I'm really interested to see how far the AP drops Texas after that. Loss. All right. Georgia finally gets a win in Bama. First time since 2007 when Matthew Stafford connected in overtime and beat Bama. Very controversial game. There was a miss pass interference that live didn't look like pass interference pass interference, at least on the TV. Like it was it looked bang bang and it looked like the ball hit off the defender's back. Wouldn't it have been pass interference? Clear pass interference on Georgia. That should have been called and was missed. Alabama had an interception that looked like it bounced off the wrists and not the ground. Again, on replay, did the ball bounce off the wrist, hit the chest, and then bounce off the ground? Yeah, maybe, but it was called an interception on the field. I didn't think there was indisputable evidence to overturn it. They did anyway. So Alabama had an interception overturned that that they would have had an interception in Georgia territory. They would have had a they missed the refs missed the pass interference that would have given them the ball a first down inside the red zone for Georgia. And then the very next play, they were in field goal range, but then the very next play, they sacked Keelan Russell, and that made them out of field goal range. And that was the difference. 20 to 17, because the dogs just were able to do what they wanted on the ground. 5.3 yards of carry. Georgia, 70 penalties, 57 yards, and a turnover. Alabama, five penalties, 50 yards, and a turnover. Time of possession within six minutes. This was a very uneven game, but it was It was the kind of miss calls and then Alabama not being opportunistic when they had it. Their first drive, they fumbled. There were two drives i in the first quarter. Alabama went twelve plays, thirty eight yards, fumbled the football. then they went punt, punt, touchdown, punt, negative 14 yards. Then they scored a touchdown on a with three seconds left before the half, no timeouts. They ran it in for a touchdown to take the lead. Then Georgia came out, hit a touchdown. Then Alabama hit hit a field goal. Georgia missed a field goal, and Alabama had to punt off of that. They hit him with a five yard penal with a five yard penalty. And had had to punt. And then Alabama and then Georgia kicked the field goal. Alabama had to punt, and that was the end of the game because the punt was off of the sack. So Alabama had the opportunity. And I'm not going to say that Alabama choked this game away because that's not what this was. This was two heavyweights swinging and out. I would say the missed calls did favor Georgia. Absolutely, I do. Georgia goes on the road, beats Bama and Tuscaloosa, but these are two, these are the top 10 starting to take shape in my world. In my opinion, the top 10's taking shape. But these are the two best teams, bar none in the SEC, hands down. And if they meet again in the SEC title game, I'm probably going to choose Alabama. Because Keelan Russell, he's Gunnar Stockton's a dude. He had a QBR of ninety-four. Keelan Russell had a QBR of eighty one. But Keelan Russell also had nine carries for 41 yards. And that doesn't include the sack yardage. He he's a problem. Keelan Russell is going to be a problem by the end of the year. They also ran the ball Alabama did for 5.6 yards a carry. So this loss stings absolutely for Bama fans. You're going to be fine. I feel better about you winning the SEC after last night's game than I did before the game. Just with how you guys played. You guys will be on a neutral site next when you play for the SEC title. And I think that's. Y you're you're gonna be absolutely, absolutely fine. Kentucky wins in overtime. Stop me if you've heard this before. Tucky Kentucky wins in overtime 35 34 and they went for a two point conversion to win the game. And why you have to stop to hear me that before is because they did the same thing last week and they did it again yesterday. They beat the number two LSU Tigers, who now have two SEC losses. they beat them at home 34 35. They went for two in overtime. LSU had this game won. They had a they got the ball back. They weren't able to bleed the clock all the way down. They punted the ball, and Kentucky made enough plays to go down, kick the game time field goal, send this to overtime. LSU scored first play, kicked the extra point. Kentucky, a couple plays later, scored a touchdown, went for two and and got it. They could have gone for it, LSU at the end of regulation on fourth and one. And if they would have gotten it, that that would have put the game away because Kentucky was out of timeouts. And I'm kind of surprised Lane Kiffin didn't. Lane Kiffin's a little bit of a let's go for a pedal to the metal. And he did not. So I wonder, because at LS if he was at Ole Miss, he would have gone for that. So I'm really wondering why he didn't. Maybe next time he will. But this was a very even game across the board. Two turnovers for for LSU. Also, the Sam Levitt had a terrible fumble. It was either a fumble or an interception that gave Kentucky life. I'm trying to see. Yeah, so it was seventeen to twenty one in the third quarter. Kentucky had just punted. In the third quarter, so LSU has the ball back down four. Sam Levitt throws an interception. Kentucky turns it over on downs, or this game probably wouldn't have even been in overtime. Then LSU went punt field goal. Then Kentucky got a field goal. LSU got a touchdown. Kentucky missed a field goal. LSU fumbled. Kentucky missed another field goal. I was unaware of that. LSU punted field goal. And then an overtime touchdown, touchdown, two-point conversion. So I was unaware. Like, yeah, this game was pretty even stats wise, but if Kentucky makes their one two field goals that they missed, this game never even goes to overtime. So Robert's happy, we kind of told you that LSU wasn't gonna win the nanny. They so it my my prediction is still correct. They probably will win the nanny next year. You know, I I said he'll have a good team this first year, win the nanny in year two and year four. The most toxic relationship in all of sports will finally be a divorce in year and he'll be fired by year four. But yeah, so LSU now has two SEC losses, and this is what I'm saying. You're gonna look up, and the top ten is gonna have two plus losses. people in the top ten are gonna have two plus losses, and that's just the way college football is going. And finally Penn State USC. So Lane Kiff or Lane Kiffin, I mean basically kind of the same guy, but Lincoln Riley and the USC Trojans go two time zones over and finally get a win. It is against Penn State. Penn State loses their first big ten, three Big Ten games. They have lost three Big Ten games to start the season in back-to-back years. They are now three-and-three. USC's three-and-one. But I would really Really like to know if USC fans feel confident about this three or three and one in the Big Ten, six and one overall. I would really like to know because This inept Penn State offense hung around and it was tied at halftime. And they had a shot to tie it at the end. And they had shots all throughout the game. Now they only ran the ball for sixty eight yards, two point two yards a carry. They even had a turnover, but time of possession was even. Penalties were even. Yardage again favored USC because they did win by eight. But is USC's defense actually good, or is this just a pen inept Penn State offense? That you allowed to score 23 in a white out environment. It's a good win. Do not get me wrong, it's hard to win in a white out environment. It is a good win, and you get credit for all the wins that are in your win column, just like you get credit for all the losses that are in your loss column, no matter what. But I don't know if you're USC, if you're a USC fan, how good, how confident are you in this defense that if you're not playing what had been an inept offense, that you can get enough stops? So you have to go to Wisconsin into you get a bye, and then you go to Wisconsin, and Wisconsin's kind of turned things around. Then you get Ohio State at home. That's not an inept offense. And Jeremiah Smith is in the front runner for the Heisman. Then you go to Indiana. That's not an inept offense. And you're going two time zones over. That's probably also at noon. Maryland, whatever. Then you're at UCLA. That's not an inept offense. So how confident, and I'm I'm legitimately asking a question. If you're USC fans, how confident are you in your defense to be able to stop the Ohio State's, the Indiana's, the UCLAs? Especially Indiana on the road. Ohio State comes to your place, great. That'll probably be a night game, 8 p.m. Great. Whatever. You still got to stop Jeremiah Smith. So how confident are you that this won't, that you can, that this won't be a Penn State under James Franklin situation where you're beating everyone else on your schedule, but you're losing to the top dogs in the conference. So we're gonna have to see. Cause it is going to be very fascinating as it go as it goes on. And most fan bases are not self aware enough to say, yeah, I I don't like that. I don't like the defense. I don't trust the defense at all. So I'm very interested to see. I wanna touch on someone who should be in Heisman consideration, considering he is leading the nation. in receiving. That's J Jesse Legree from Oregon State. Yesterday against San Diego State. I gotta pull it up. Yesterday against San Diego State, he had 10 catches for 191 yards and three touchdowns. And as much love as Jeremia Smith is getting, who has 916 yards and 11 touchdowns on the season, Jesse Legree needs to be in that conversation of the best receiver in college football this year because he has. 932 yards receiving and 12 touchdowns. He's better statistically than Jeremia Smith. by the way, Jesse Legree, true freshman. Jeremia Smith, full grown man, right? One of the best college football wide receivers all time. Jesse Legree needs his flowers, and that's what mostly college football is going to give him right now. Jesse Legree has entered the college, mostly college football podcast Heisman. He is outstanding. by the way, he has done the 932 yards and 12 touchdowns on 10 less catches. He is averaging 24 and a half yards per catch. Jeremiah Smith is at 19.1. This is not taking away from Jeremiah Smith. This is giving all flowers to Jesse Legree. He is a fantastic player and The Corvallis fans need to enjoy him because with NIL in the transfer portal, I don't know, but I'm teams will at least call. Right? I'm not trying to shove him out the door. I kind of hope he stays in Corvallis with Oregon State. But teams are going to call for Jesse Legree and he and they should because he is outstanding. And so I am hoping that that Oregon State can keep him around. But they drubbed San Diego State 66 to 14, and he was outstanding. By the way, Oregon State four and two, two and in the pack 12, with their only losses coming to Houston and Texas Tech. Both games they hung around with What's left on their schedule right now, rank team wise, Boise second last week of the year, they're at Boise State. So absolutely we are going to give Jesse Legree and Oregon State flowers for where they are starting are at right now, starting 0-2, now being four and two, ripped off four straight, and Jesse Legree leading the nation in touchdowns, receiving touchdowns and receiving yards. Real quick, because I still have a couple minutes, we're gonna look at the conference standings. American conference, it is Memphis and UTSA both at five and one and two and in conference. By the way, North Texas is right there. They do have two losses, but two and in conference. If we go to the ACC, it is Miami on top, three and five-o, number four team in the nation. Whether or not they move up when the AP poll drops, we shall see. Demon, Wake Forest, Demon Deacons, three and one with losses, with a loss to Miami. And Clemson right there, two and one with lot with a loss to Miami. So right now it's Miami and everybody else because Pittsburgh lost North Carolina yesterday as well. So eight that second spot in the ACC, wide open. Big 12 conference, I I believe is wide open. Yes, you have BYU, Texas Tech, Utah, all at 5 0 and either 2 or 3 0 in conference. The best team, the best looking team out of all those has been Utah, where Kyle Whittingham just came from. So that's very embarrassing, right? I expected Utah to take a step back because Kyle Whittingham left. Nope. They're actually a little bit better than they were last year. By the way, Baylor only lost to Auburn. They're two and Oklahoma State, best offense to watch in the entire country. Their game yesterday versus UCF was was really fun to watch. It's Big Twelve football. They're two and as well. Big twelve is wide open. Wide open for everyone because so you get past all the two and teams, then you have Arizona, Houston, Cincinnati, Arizona State, all with one loss only. Big Ten, I do believe, personally, behind Ohio State is wide open. I'm not sold on Indiana. It could be that Indiana just had to play their first real test, but now they have a second test with Ohio State this coming weekend. But I believe it's Ohio State and all the rest. I can't bet against Kirk Cinetti. I have to pick Indiana and win the game on Saturday, but I think Ohio State's the better team. But the Big Ten is wide open. behind Ohio State. Wisconsin, by the way, four and one, two and in the conference, sitting there in the fourth position right now. Conference USA again, wide open. Liberty, Jacksonville State, and FIU. All no losses, either two and one and in the conference, and then a whole bunch of teams with just one loss. It looks like their conference play just started. the Mac. The Mac gets beat up out of conference a lot because a lot of teams schedule them. But Eastern Michigan, Ohio Bobcats, Western Michigan, Bowling Green all undefeated in conference, all with two or more losses. So they're probably out of the conversation for college football playoff. Cause you're to be in the conversation as a group of six, you gotta you gotta either have one or l or less loss. The Mountain West. UNLV takes commanding lead. They bit beat the North Dakota State Bison. So the Bison gets their first conference loss and their first FBS loss in season. They are five and one. UNLV had two out-of-conference losses. They're four and two, but two and in conference. And then Pac-12, Boise State leads all group of six. They are ranked, but Oregon State right there behind them. SEC, I think it's the two dogs at the top. Georgia, Alabama, Kentucky, Mississippi State, Missouri, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Oklahoma all have one Texas all have one loss. But I think it is Georgia and Alabama from from what I have seen. Kentucky's offense is very impressive and they can do things well, but they just kind of they they're still, I don't know, figuring it out under this new new regime. They Got blown out in the second half by Bama. Last night, again, they should have pulled away from LSU, but missed a bunch of field goals, kind of self-inflicted wounds there. Mississippi State really doesn't have a defense when they go up against a good offense. Missouri, are you really am I really trusting Missouri? There's just something about Missouri. Tennessee's playing backup quarterback. They did have a nice win yesterday against Arkansas. I say that sort of sarcastically. It was only a seven-point win on the road. Old Miss. Blew out Vanderbilt. I did not expect Ole Miss to blow out Vanderbilt. I expected them to win, not blow them out. They have one loss. So the SEC behind Georgia Bama for additional at-large bids are still very open. Sunbelt, James Madison is 3-0 and 6-0 overall. Boise better start paying attention to them. That's in the East Division. And then the West Division, South Alabama, La Tech, Troy. All at the top of the West division. So that is the just about halfway point of the season conference standing updates. That's gonna do it for me today. Everyone, please make sure you wash your hands. Don't be filthy animals.
