- 0:00Erin Gray: Today on the podcast, I want to talk about the power of assumption.
- 0:03Erin Gray: This comes from the book by Neville Goddard, The Power of Awareness.
- 0:08Erin Gray: And we're going to explore how what you assume is actually what you create in your business, in your marriage, with your children, with your money, with your health, basically your entire life.
- 0:19Erin Gray: So let's dive in.
- 0:20Erin Gray: Real quick, I wanted to add that I am hosting a workshop tomorrow, Tuesday, December 16th at 10 a.m.
- 0:26Erin Gray: Mountain Standard Time.
- 0:28Erin Gray: And it is going to be about how to have conversations with your spouse from a place of more love and more connection and compassion.
- 0:35Erin Gray: I would love for you to join us.
- 0:37Erin Gray: And if you want to come, you can just click the link to register in the show notes.
- 0:42Erin Gray: So one of the very first things that I have my clients do when they come into my world is to develop awareness because without awareness, we can't make any changes.
- 0:50Erin Gray: So awareness is always what I say, the first step to anything.
- 0:55Erin Gray: And when I start to have them notice and increase their awareness, I have them do two things.
- 1:01Erin Gray: One, to start paying attention to their language, because our language is so powerful.
- 1:05Erin Gray: I know I've talked about this before, is that our language carries a frequency, it carries a vibration.
- 1:12Erin Gray: When we speak things into the world, it we also our cells verberate that vibration.
- 1:18Erin Gray: So when we say loving things to ourselves, our cells expand, our cells grow, our cells love that.
- 1:26Erin Gray: When we speak poorly and condescending to ourselves, our cells also respond to that and they shrink.
- 1:34Erin Gray: And, you know, that's I don't want to get into too far down the rabbit hole, but like there has been a YouTube video that a scientist did around like speaking to water and how when we spoke lovingly to water, how it made these beautiful droplets and and all this kind of, I think he like froze the water, but you could see like beautifulness of the water.
- 1:58Erin Gray: But then when you spoke poorly to it, what actually happened to the water?
- 2:02Erin Gray: And so our bodies are made up of water.
- 2:05Erin Gray: And you know, you can do this with plants, like you can play with this in all the different realms.
- 2:09Erin Gray: But like when you speak things from a loving and expansive, empowering way, your body receives that and you are moving from a very empowered place.
- 2:21Erin Gray: When you speak, like I said, condescending and not kindly to yourself or about anyone else, like, you know, the law of attraction or vibration is like what you put out is what you get back.
- 2:32Erin Gray: So first and foremost, start to notice what your language is like.
- 2:35Erin Gray: Second is your assumptions.
- 2:38Erin Gray: You know, most of us are assuming the worst.
- 2:40Erin Gray: We're expecting when's the shoe gonna drop.
- 2:43Erin Gray: Like you don't think it's gonna happen.
- 2:44Erin Gray: We have so much doubt and fear for ourselves while not really hoping for the best, right?
- 2:50Erin Gray: Because when we hope, when we hope for the best, when we assume the best, when we know the best is on its way, we aren't sitting here in doubt.
- 2:58Erin Gray: And so it doesn't work like that in the world of like, oh, we are moving, you know, from an assumption of the shoe is gonna drop and then, you know, wonderful things are going to come our way.
- 3:10Erin Gray: And Neville writes in the book that a man's chief delusion is his conviction that there are causes other than his own state of consciousness.
- 3:20Erin Gray: So we keep looking outside of ourselves.
- 3:22Erin Gray: We've been taught as a society in in schools, in you know, parents, caregivers, all the things culturally, right?
- 3:31Erin Gray: That, oh, look outside of yourself for the answer, look outside of yourself for the power versus recognizing that the power is already within each of us.
- 3:39Erin Gray: You know, we can change anything that we want in our life.
- 3:42Erin Gray: And it begins in the mind first, in the consciousness that we exhibit first.
- 3:46Erin Gray: And we have to want something different.
- 3:49Erin Gray: That's what Neville starts with.
- 3:50Erin Gray: We have to desire something different.
- 3:51Erin Gray: And I think that that is a true first step.
- 3:54Erin Gray: The first step is wanting and desiring something different.
- 3:57Erin Gray: But I think it goes even deeper than this is like you have to be willing, right?
- 4:02Erin Gray: Wanting is like sitting there hoping, desiring for something different.
- 4:08Erin Gray: Willing is I'm willing to take action to be something different.
- 4:12Erin Gray: You know, people always ask me when they interview me on podcasts, you know, what type of client do you love to work with?
- 4:18Erin Gray: And obviously, someone, you know, who wants to change their relationship with money and expand their life and have fun.
- 4:26Erin Gray: But the thing that I always come back to is they have to be willing.
- 4:30Erin Gray: You know, wanting and willing are two very different things.
- 4:34Erin Gray: You can want and desire to change all day long.
- 4:37Erin Gray: I've had clients like that.
- 4:39Erin Gray: I've had people in my life like that, have had friends like that.
- 4:42Erin Gray: You can want and desire, but if you're not willing to feel the discomfort or doing something outside of your comfort zone or your current identity, wanting does not get you very far.
- 4:54Erin Gray: Desire is the first step and willingness is the second.
- 4:58Erin Gray: So Neville goes on to say that in order to make your future dream a present fact, you actually must live in the assumption of the wish fulfilled, meaning that you must be living from the feeling of the outcome that you desire, not from the feeling of where you are and what you are observing in your 3D world, because that is just going to create more of the same.
- 5:18Erin Gray: So think about what you desire in your business right now.
- 5:22Erin Gray: Are you moving from gratitude?
- 5:23Erin Gray: Are you moving from expectation?
- 5:26Erin Gray: Or are you moving from lack and it's taking too long and pressure?
- 5:30Erin Gray: What kind of energy are you moving from?
- 5:32Erin Gray: Because that is not moving.
- 5:34Erin Gray: If you are moving from lack or it's taking too long or, you know, pressure, that is not moving from the energy of the wish fulfilled, right?
- 5:41Erin Gray: Because if you already had what you wanted, there would be no pressure.
- 5:44Erin Gray: You would just be in complete gratitude, and then you would be looking at the next thing that you would be wanting and moving towards.
- 5:53Erin Gray: So let's actually bring this into the body because I think we can understand this from an intellectual standpoint.
- 5:58Erin Gray: But actually, like where we actually make changes is when we take it into the body, we embody this and we move and we take action from this place.
- 6:06Erin Gray: So if you assumed and you knew that your business was going to grow year over year, what different choices would you be making?
- 6:14Erin Gray: What would you outsource?
- 6:16Erin Gray: How much time would you spend as a CEO instead of more of the employee role?
- 6:21Erin Gray: Would you plan ahead with confidence and trust?
- 6:26Erin Gray: Would you be thinking more in the five year, ten year, like you've already accomplished what you wanted already, you know, next year?
- 6:32Erin Gray: So what would you be thinking about?
- 6:34Erin Gray: You would be thinking more vision casting, thinking about years to come.
- 6:37Erin Gray: Because what I see in most women is we are not moving from the assumption.
- 6:41Erin Gray: We're actually moving from the lack of assumption, or we're moving from doubt or worry or fear.
- 6:46Erin Gray: You know, things like I don't know, like you can start there.
- 6:50Erin Gray: As soon as you say, I don't know, that isn't moving from the assumption.
- 6:54Erin Gray: I don't know if my income is going to increase, so I'm not going to hire any help, or I'm going to wait to hire, right?
- 6:59Erin Gray: I don't know if this investment's going to pay off, so I might wait.
- 7:02Erin Gray: Think about anytime that you are waiting, you are not moving from certainty.
- 7:07Erin Gray: Now, obviously, this is nuanced.
- 7:10Erin Gray: Like when I have heard my intuition and I am sitting with it and riding my wave, but my intuition says yes, but I'm getting to a neutral point in my body.
- 7:20Erin Gray: That isn't waiting.
- 7:21Erin Gray: That is riding my wave.
- 7:22Erin Gray: But once I have ridden my wave and it feels neutral in my body, I go.
- 7:26Erin Gray: So really, really decipher and see like where does this apply to you?
- 7:31Erin Gray: Where are you waiting?
- 7:32Erin Gray: Where are you hoping?
- 7:33Erin Gray: Where are you?
- 7:34Erin Gray: Oh, maybe next month or next year, versus where have you said yes to something?
- 7:41Erin Gray: And you're literally just allowing yourself to sink into the decision, and then you're going to move from certainty instead of hesitancy.
- 7:49Erin Gray: So if you, you know, I hear a lot of women say things like, I don't know if I'm going to make my money back.
- 7:54Erin Gray: So I'm not going to invest, you know, in this, you know, say employee or this mentor or course or whatever it might be.
- 8:02Erin Gray: And I want you to really think about this because one of the things that I encourage everyone to recognize is we are our best investment.
- 8:10Erin Gray: I have a belief now, didn't always, but I always make my money back.
- 8:14Erin Gray: Like I am my best investment because I have total control over my mind, my thoughts, my feelings, what I want to do and what I like actions I want to take.
- 8:25Erin Gray: I don't have control over the stock market.
- 8:26Erin Gray: I don't know when fear is going to be imposed in the stock market and things are going to change.
- 8:31Erin Gray: I have no control over things like that.
- 8:33Erin Gray: I don't have any control over anybody else's business.
- 8:36Erin Gray: So when you really think about like you are the one that is in control, you are in the driver's seat.
- 8:40Erin Gray: You have total power of making it an investment back.
- 8:44Erin Gray: So why wouldn't you just bet on yourself and assume that that's what's going to happen?
- 8:49Erin Gray: So when you are moving from that place of like, I don't know, that's the energy of uncertainty and doubt and not the energy of knowing.
- 8:56Erin Gray: Neville shares this metaphor in the book that just as the moth in his desire to know the flame was willing to destroy himself, so must you in becoming a new version and a new person, being willing to die to your present self.
- 9:10Erin Gray: And I think this is something that we don't talk a lot about or enough about is the grief that actually comes with evolution.
- 9:17Erin Gray: You know, we imagine this idea, like we a lot of times we want to just imagine all of the, when I say good, I don't believe there's good or bad, but like just imagine all the rainbows and the daisies and the expansion.
- 9:30Erin Gray: But often there are parts of us that actually don't want to let go because those are the parts that feel familiar.
- 9:35Erin Gray: They feel safe, they feel protective for us, right?
- 9:38Erin Gray: And we need to honor that.
- 9:40Erin Gray: We need to thank those parts of us that got us here and still be willing to move into the next version of ourselves.
- 9:49Erin Gray: Neville writes that to incarnate a new and greater value of yourself, you must assume that you already are what you want to be, and then live by faith in that assumption, which is not yet incarnate in the body of your life, meaning that it's not yet showing up in the 3D world.
- 10:08Erin Gray: I had a client the other day where we were discussing this and kind of diving deeper, because I think a lot of times people might get this at an intellectual level, but we don't actually embody it and take action from this place.
- 10:19Erin Gray: You know, in order to bridge the gap, in order to move and to collapse time and your reality of what you see in your mind to what you actually experience and what you're observing with your senses in the 3D world, you have to stay in your imagination and basically ignore your 3D worlds.
- 10:39Erin Gray: And you have to continue to live in the vibration and the feeling of what you are thinking and seeing in your imagination.
- 10:46Erin Gray: I think the strongest muscle that we have to build is to hold that vision, even when our 3D world didn't match our imagination.
- 10:54Erin Gray: You know, not, I don't, this feels too strong of a word, but like not falling prey to the 3D world or like not allowing our mind or to allow our mind to run the show that that we're observing the 3D world, to know that if we can see it in our mind, we can feel that feeling of the wish fulfilled and multiple feelings, right?
- 11:14Erin Gray: Like if you had what you wanted already, you would feel gratitude, you would feel love, you would feel peacefulness, you would feel, you know, proud and successful and satisfied.
- 11:24Erin Gray: So think about what are those feelings, and not just going to be one feeling, but you know, thinking about those feelings on a consistent basis and not just thinking.
- 11:33Erin Gray: When I say thinking about them, what I mean is what would be those feelings and then actually feeling them in your body on a consistent basis, you know, and then taking action from that place until it shows up in the 3D world, right?
- 11:45Erin Gray: Like not giving up on yourself, not being, not being attached to time, not being attached to how, but just knowing that it is done and that you are living from that place in complete love and gratitude and appreciation for having created what you wanted.
- 12:00Erin Gray: I'll give you an example for my car.
- 12:02Erin Gray: You know, I had ordered one originally and then for whatever reason it fell through, which was a blessing because I ended up deciding that I wanted a different model.
- 12:11Erin Gray: And so as I said, okay, I want to purchase this one instead, you know, the the sales rep, my husband, my daughter were a little bit like, they're not making those.
- 12:22Erin Gray: And you're gonna be six to six to nine months out.
- 12:25Erin Gray: And I'm like, I am not listening to anything either of all three of you are saying.
- 12:30Erin Gray: It was more so the sales rep.
- 12:32Erin Gray: And, you know, my husband had made a comment about like, well, maybe you get a different car in the meantime.
- 12:37Erin Gray: And I was like, no, that's not what I want.
- 12:39Erin Gray: I want this car.
- 12:41Erin Gray: I know that I see it in my mind and I know that I will have it.
- 12:44Erin Gray: So whether they believe it or not, just because it isn't in the 3D world, I know that it is in my mind and I know that it is on its way to me.
- 12:52Erin Gray: And so it just so happened that probably a couple of weeks later, he called and said, Hey, I've got this car for you.
- 12:59Erin Gray: You want to come drive it?
- 13:01Erin Gray: And when I when after we purchased it, what I found out was I said, Hey, how did this car come about?
- 13:07Erin Gray: Because, you know, like the story he was telling himself was that there were no cars, they weren't going to be made.
- 13:13Erin Gray: I was gonna have to order and be in line for six to nine months.
- 13:16Erin Gray: And he said, A deal fell through.
- 13:18Erin Gray: And after that deal fell through, I called you.
- 13:21Erin Gray: And so what would it have been like if I would have compromised, if I would have been like, okay, I'll just get a different car, right?
- 13:28Erin Gray: Like, how much of what we don't experience in our life is actually because we change our mind, because we are the ones that stray off of what we actually want.
- 13:39Erin Gray: Because, and I've done this so many times.
- 13:41Erin Gray: Oh, well, this will do over what I really want.
- 13:44Erin Gray: No, stay the course, hold the vision, keep moving from that place, expect that it is already on its way to you.
- 13:50Erin Gray: So, the other thing that I wanted to mention that Neville mentions in his book is that he talks about how that nature does not possess imagination.
- 13:58Erin Gray: We do.
- 13:59Erin Gray: This is where I think that we are so precious and so brilliant.
- 14:02Erin Gray: Our imagination, it is the instrument by which we create our world.
- 14:06Erin Gray: Imagination is the redemptive power in the universe.
- 14:10Erin Gray: So I want to leave you with a couple of questions today.
- 14:13Erin Gray: I want you to think about how often are you living from your imagination instead of your memory in the past?
- 14:20Erin Gray: How often are you feeling the feelings you would feel if you already had what you desired?
- 14:26Erin Gray: How often are you moving from certainty?
- 14:30Erin Gray: Notice where you are already doing this in your life because that's another thing I love to share with my clients.
- 14:35Erin Gray: We already know how to do this.
- 14:36Erin Gray: It's not like I'm teaching you to do anything else.
- 14:38Erin Gray: I'm helping you remember who you already are and you already are doing this, and already, this is already part of who you are.
- 14:44Erin Gray: You just may not be doing it in some of the areas of your life.
- 14:47Erin Gray: So notice where you're already doing it in your one area of your life.
- 14:49Erin Gray: And then what I always say to clients is just move it to the area that you're not as practiced in.
- 14:53Erin Gray: That's all that we're gonna do.
- 14:55Erin Gray: How often are you assuming your favorite outcome instead of bracing for the worst?
- 15:00Erin Gray: And then think about who you might you return home to be if you are willing to hold the assumption of your wish fulfilled.
- 15:08Erin Gray: Okay, that's all I have for you today.
- 15:09Erin Gray: I love you.
- 15:10Erin Gray: I'm rooting for you, and I'll see you in the next episode.
