Latest / Kenny Wallace Media / Mentally Strong NASCAR Drivers & Denny Hamlin's Childhood | Coffee With Kenny
Transcript
- 0:00Happy Monday morning, everybody. Denny Hamlin said that he would
- 0:08be in his childhood bedroom and he would listen to his mother
- 0:13and father go at it. The mom or dad would say we
- 0:19can't spend any more money on Denny, and the mom or dad would
- 0:23say just just a little bit more money on Denny.
- 0:29That is the story that Denny Hamlin told in the media room
- 0:35after he won his 60th NASCAR Cup race, which put him 10th all
- 0:43time. So as you figured out by now,
- 0:50today's coffee with Kenny is going to be about Denny Hamlin.
- 0:55Denny Hamlin started crying after he won his 60th NASCAR Cup
- 1:03race, and rightfully so out in Vegas, because Danny likes to
- 1:08gamble. How about last year when Denny
- 1:11Hamlin won hundreds of thousands of dollars on the spots?
- 1:18Danny and his friend Michael Jordan, they love gambling.
- 1:20So sixty wins, top 10. I think.
- 1:27What's incredible about Danny is his mental capacity.
- 1:32So respond right here, right now.
- 1:35Who is the mentally, mentally, who is the strongest person in
- 1:39all sports? But let's just whittle it down
- 1:43to NASCAR. In NASCAR, who's the baddest son
- 1:47of a bitch out there in the NASCAR history?
- 1:50Who's the driver that you could mother?
- 1:54You're a piece of we hate you. And then he would go out and win
- 1:59the race. Was it Dale Earnhardt senior?
- 2:07Was it Jimmy Spencer? Was it Rusty?
- 2:12I'm going to tell you what, Rusty taught me some lessons in
- 2:14life. I wish I had the mental capacity
- 2:18that Rusty had his whole life. I just learned it.
- 2:23I'll admit. I just learned about five years
- 2:30ago to not give a flying what you think of me.
- 2:38It's like I found freedom. You too.
- 2:42Ha ha ha. Kiss my ass.
- 2:46I was going to go off a little more, but I decided to stop her
- 2:49right there. That's Rusty.
- 2:53Rusty's as strong as a boulder. Sticks and stones may break my
- 2:59bones, but words will never hurt me.
- 3:04So who is the baddest son of a bitch in NASCAR?
- 3:08Meaning that you just can't get them?
- 3:11Is it Earnhardt? Is it Tony Stewart?
- 3:14Who is it? I'll tell you somebody that
- 3:17ranks right there. I'll tell you somebody right
- 3:21there, and it's Denny Hamlin. Denny thrives on his talk.
- 3:29Hey, Kenny, what must you cuss so much?
- 3:33Well, am I really cussing if I used those words in the right
- 3:37place? Am I really?
- 3:40Denny Hamlin has taken enormous abuse because he he is an
- 3:46entertainer. Whenever you entertain, whenever
- 3:50the masses lay their eyes on you, they're going to find
- 3:53everything they can wrong with you because it will make them
- 3:55feel powerful. So when people talk badly to
- 3:59you, what what does that do? So if I call you an that makes
- 4:05me feel good about myself, I call him, How about Darryl
- 4:11Waltrip? Darryl Waltrip once said to
- 4:15anybody that wants to fight me, after this race, I'll be over in
- 4:18the Walmart parking lot. Let's fight.
- 4:23Is Daryl the strongest mental capacity, Daryl?
- 4:28Daryl was probably the first one to use mind games and then go on
- 4:34and win the championship. How about Tony Stewart going at
- 4:39it in the media room at Miami Homestead?
- 4:42How about Tony Stewart going at it with Carl Edwards?
- 4:47Excuse me, Tony Stewart going at it with Carl Edwards in the
- 4:53Miami Homestead Media. Remember that one?
- 4:58But I'm going to have to put Denny Hamlin right up there and
- 5:02I just giving you all the reasons why.
- 5:06Do you all realize the abuse that you've given Denny Hamlin
- 5:12and all he does is win? Actually, we've been down this
- 5:17road, but I've never challenged you all for you all to admit.
- 5:22Who do you think's the baddest son of a bitch?
- 5:26OK, so Denny Hamlin cries because he says his dad is
- 5:34ailing. This sixty wins means a lot
- 5:37because his father is ailing. His father is not good.
- 5:43And I started out coffee with Kenny saying that he thinks
- 5:49right now about his mom and dad fighting over their financial
- 5:55stake. You know, this is one of those
- 5:58deals where you say to yourself, you know, there's just, there's
- 6:02just weird people out there. You're poor.
- 6:07I hope you win everything. Oh, you got money.
- 6:10That's why you win everything. You see, It's a very strange
- 6:15phenomenon. People love it when people are
- 6:18poor and they do good. Yeah, I'd love to go eat and not
- 6:23have to pay any money. I'd like to have a car and not
- 6:26have to pay for it. But anything you do in life is
- 6:29going to cost you some type of money.
- 6:33So it's as far as going, well, hell, I have made it, but I just
- 6:36don't got any money. Well, that's like saying they
- 6:39get to eat. But I don't.
- 6:41I mean, anything you do in life is going to take some type of
- 6:44money. He's got a he's got a better
- 6:48hauler than me. Oh, he must think he's somebody.
- 6:52But what about a mom and dad that love you and you're just a
- 6:57child and you ain't got no money?
- 6:58You're in high school. What about the mom and dad that
- 7:02invest in their child? Is that OK or is that illegal to
- 7:06you? Oh well, the only reason that 10
- 7:09year old kid made it is because his mom and dad got money.
- 7:13What? What else?
- 7:15I mean it's a 10 year old kid. So I really like the story that
- 7:21Denny Hamlin told about his mom and dad.
- 7:26He remembers that here Denny Hamlin is 43 years old and when
- 7:29he won that race, he thought about his mom and dad arguing
- 7:34over they're out of money. But boy, it sure did pay off.
- 7:40Congratulations to Denny Hamlin and for Mr. Hamlin.
- 7:48I hope you get well, buddy. I hope you get well 'cause I
- 7:52know how proud you are of your son.
- 7:55So congratulations to the complete Hamlin family And for
- 7:59all of you who's the strongest metal driver in NASCAR history,
- 8:05Respond right here.
