- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome back to the Mark Simone Show, live from the
- 0:04Speaker 1: WOR LifeVac studios. Well, hey, price of oil dropping. There
- 0:12Speaker 1: was this big spike in oil. It shot up to
- 0:14Speaker 1: like $ 107 a barrel. It's $ 97 a barrel now. Dropped
- 0:21Speaker 1: $ 10 a barrel in just two days. Actually, at the
- 0:24Speaker 1: gas pumps, it's down. Average national gas price now. $ 4. 26,
- 0:28Speaker 1: down a little. France, you'll notice the rioting has subsided, greatly,
- 0:35Speaker 1: greatly subsided. Don't take that as a sign that Macron
- 0:40Speaker 1: has done anything. I know there's curfews and all that.
- 0:42Speaker 1: It's not so much that. The rioting is a weekend activity.
- 0:46Speaker 1: It's more on the weekends. So this coming weekend, they're
- 0:49Speaker 1: all scheduled to come back. Although Macron's saying... that he
- 0:53Speaker 1: will not allow that stuff to happen again this weekend,
- 0:56Speaker 1: that he will be ready for it. Now, this is Macron. Macron,
- 1:03Speaker 1: not the toughest leader in the world. If this were another, well, Italy,
- 1:07Speaker 1: they started to get this in Italy. They brought out
- 1:09Speaker 1: the military and quashed it right away. Macron has not
- 1:13Speaker 1: brought in the military. And if he did, it's the
- 1:15Speaker 1: French military. It's like one notch above a Boy Scout troop.
- 1:18Speaker 1: So I don't know what they're going to do. But
- 1:20Speaker 1: he claims they will be prevented from doing it this weekend.
- 1:25Speaker 1: We'll see. Hey, let's take some calls. Let's go to
- 1:28Speaker 1: Mike in Florida. Mike, how are you doing?
- 1:31Speaker 2: Good morning, Mark.
- 1:32Speaker 1: Yes, Mike.
- 1:34Speaker 2: That soundbite you played of Mandani endorsing Al-Sayed is the
- 1:39Speaker 2: perfect example or great example of the difference between the
- 1:42Speaker 2: two parties. There was no hesitance. There was no buts.
- 1:48Speaker 2: There was no equivocation in his endorsement. If that was
- 1:52Speaker 2: a Republican expert, a pundit, or, you know, a guy
- 1:54Speaker 2: in the know, he would have been 14. Well, there's
- 1:58Speaker 2: something about a white guy.
- 2:00Speaker 3: Well, you know, gee, Lindsey Graham's daughter was sister. She's
- 2:04Speaker 3: not exactly Patrick Henry. But, you know, Democrats, without hesitance,
- 2:10Speaker 3: will endorse their guys because.
- 2:12Speaker 2: They know once they're in, they're going to vote in lockstep.
- 2:15Speaker 2: There's going to be no fighting amongst themselves. And they're
- 2:18Speaker 2: going to just do what they're told to do. Republicans
- 2:21Speaker 2: don't understand that.
- 2:22Speaker 1: No, they understand. Listen, you're right. It's a different, Republicans
- 2:25Speaker 1: are different. I mean, both parties stink. They're both awful.
- 2:27Speaker 1: But Republicans, for the most part, they're country club types. They,
- 2:31Speaker 1: you know, do a little politics. But with the Democrats,
- 2:36Speaker 1: and you know a lot of them, it's full-time, 24-7 warfare.
- 2:40Speaker 1: I mean, they're always, they're on the front lines fighting away. Republicans,
- 2:44Speaker 1: they fight. They don't fight. They stop.
- 2:46Speaker 2: They don't, you know, they, And every win, big or small, counts.
- 2:51Speaker 2: And the Republicans think, oh, we'll debate and discuss and
- 2:56Speaker 2: I'll dazzle them with my incredible argument, but they don't win.
- 2:59Speaker 2: And it's like, that's the problem. Democrats will take any win.
- 3:03Speaker 2: Getting rid of Katie Zachariah was a win. As minute
- 3:06Speaker 2: as it is, it is a win. It's something they
- 3:10Speaker 2: can gloat about and brag about.
- 3:14Speaker 1: It's warfare for them. They're fighting 24-7, bombing, attacking 24-7.
- 3:21Speaker 1: Good point, Mike. Thanks for calling. By the way, with
- 3:23Speaker 1: that Katie Zachariah, there's now the New York Times and
- 3:26Speaker 1: some others saying Trump's war on women. He's been firing
- 3:31Speaker 1: a lot of women. Look at the women he's fired.
- 3:33Speaker 1: They go through all these women that he's fired. They
- 3:35Speaker 1: forget to mention they were the ones calling for each
- 3:37Speaker 1: of these women to be fired. They were the ones
- 3:40Speaker 1: demanding Zachariah be fired. They're the ones going after Pam
- 3:43Speaker 1: Bondi and Kristi Noem and all these women. Kimberly Guilfoyle
- 3:47Speaker 1: was the press chasing them out, demanding they be fired.
- 3:51Speaker 1: And then as soon as they're fired, why is he
- 3:53Speaker 1: firing all these women? It's the double standard Democrats are
- 3:57Speaker 1: famous for. Let's go to Mike in Brooklyn. Mike, how
- 3:59Speaker 1: you doing?
- 4:01Speaker 2: Good morning, Mark. Mark, I'm just calling. How's Joe Bartlett doing?
- 4:04Speaker 2: We haven't heard from him in a while.
- 4:06Speaker 1: Oh, Joe Bartlett's fine. I think he's on the morning
- 4:08Speaker 1: show now and then. We've got to call him. We
- 4:10Speaker 1: haven't called him in a while. He's in Hilton Head.
- 4:13Speaker 1: Where is that? South Carolina. That's South Carolina, right? Yeah,
- 4:16Speaker 1: he's down there. He plays golf every day. Joe Bartlett
- 4:19Speaker 1: doing great. Well, thanks for asking, Mike. Let's go to
- 4:24Speaker 1: David in Queens. David, how are you doing?
- 4:27Speaker 2: Hey, Mark. Good morning. Mark, Liz Hochul has her minions
- 4:30Speaker 2: in the state assembly touting the Home Energy Assistance Program.
- 4:35Speaker 2: The people out there should realize that the pennies they
- 4:37Speaker 2: would give back to you on this program is money
- 4:40Speaker 2: that they stole from you. Mark, it's time for the Mr.
- 4:44Speaker 2: Ed impersonator to be shown the door.
- 4:46Speaker 1: Thank you. Who's that? Oh, now we got a guest?
- 4:50Speaker 1: Who's the Mr. Ed impersonator? Oh, is he talking about Hochul?
- 4:56Speaker 2: Maybe. I don't know.
- 4:58Speaker 1: Yeah, that's state legislature. I'm looking for the story here.
- 5:02Speaker 1: You know, there's... they've identified a bunch of state legislators
- 5:06Speaker 1: who have not shown up in a year. They haven't
- 5:10Speaker 1: been to now. Apparently you can vote without showing up
- 5:14Speaker 1: in person. You do not have to physically show up
- 5:17Speaker 1: to vote. So they voted, but they have not shown
- 5:20Speaker 1: up in a year. And it's pretty bad. You know, um,
- 5:25Speaker 1: it's not a full-time job. If you're in the state, uh, uh,
- 5:29Speaker 1: legislature in Albany, if you're in the state, uh, Senate
- 5:32Speaker 1: or the Assembly, it's not a full-time job. They all
- 5:35Speaker 1: do something else for a living, but you're supposed to
- 5:38Speaker 1: show up once in a while. So some of them
- 5:40Speaker 1: have not shown up in a year ever. You know
- 5:44Speaker 1: that comedian Carrot Top? Carrot Top, you know, that I
- 5:48Speaker 1: always thought awful comedian. He's the guy, he was in
- 5:51Speaker 1: the news a couple weeks ago. He tried to kill
- 5:53Speaker 1: himself and terrible, but he's back. He's recovered. and you know,
- 6:00Speaker 1: he has a, what they call a residency in Las Vegas,
- 6:03Speaker 1: a regular, uh, you know, he's got his own showroom.
- 6:05Speaker 1: He appears all the time. And, uh, he came back,
- 6:10Speaker 1: did his first show. And, uh, you know, he's, he's
- 6:13Speaker 1: a lot of props. He does props. He's one of
- 6:15Speaker 1: the stupid prop comedians, but he came out and he said, uh,
- 6:18Speaker 1: just to be serious for a moment, you all know
- 6:20Speaker 1: what happened. And, uh, I'm not a, you know, usually
- 6:23Speaker 1: talking up here, but, uh, I have to say something.
- 6:26Speaker 1: And I was wondering, how do I explain this? What
- 6:28Speaker 1: do I do? How do I come back? And he said,
- 6:31Speaker 1: I'm a prop comedian. So I came up with the
- 6:33Speaker 1: right prop. And then he reaches in the box and
- 6:36Speaker 1: pulls out a noose. It got a huge laugh. It
- 6:38Speaker 1: was very funny there. Now, you may be saying to yourself,
- 6:42Speaker 1: how does a guy like that have his own residency
- 6:44Speaker 1: in Las Vegas? It's not a big, big room with
- 6:47Speaker 1: 2,000 seats. But he's got his own showroom with a
- 6:49Speaker 1: couple hundred seats. He rents it. It's what they call
- 6:53Speaker 1: a rental. You may not realize this. Most of the
- 6:56Speaker 1: shows in Las Vegas are what they call rentals. In
- 6:59Speaker 1: other words, the performer rents the room from the hotel,
- 7:03Speaker 1: sells his own tickets. The hotel doesn't have anything to
- 7:06Speaker 1: do with it except they just charge rent. Most of
- 7:09Speaker 1: these shows, even some of the big ones in the hotels,
- 7:12Speaker 1: they're renting the room. In show business, they call it
- 7:15Speaker 1: four-walling the room, which means you're not getting paid. You
- 7:19Speaker 1: got to sell your own tickets. But that's the new,
- 7:23Speaker 1: Las Vegas is in real trouble. Business is way down
- 7:26Speaker 1: in Las Vegas. It's in real trouble. It's really bad
- 7:30Speaker 1: right now. So that's one way they're making money. They're
- 7:32Speaker 1: just renting the room. A lot of these guys, even,
- 7:35Speaker 1: you know, Rich Little is still performing there. Rich Little,
- 7:38Speaker 1: it's a rental. He rents a room, does his own show,
- 7:41Speaker 1: promotes it himself, sells his own tickets. Even Wayne Newton
- 7:45Speaker 1: the last couple of years, that was a rental. He
- 7:48Speaker 1: would rent the room. promoted himself, sell his own tickets.
- 7:51Speaker 1: So that's the state of Las Vegas right now. You know,
- 7:55Speaker 1: you go back a few years ago, they used to
- 7:57Speaker 1: pay performers, overpay them like crazy. You know, they'd pay
- 8:01Speaker 1: somebody $ 400, 000 a week. And they'd take a loss on
- 8:06Speaker 1: the show, but they'd make it back in the casino. Well,
- 8:08Speaker 1: those days are gone. Las Vegas is in real financial trouble.
- 8:12Speaker 1: So they're renting out the rooms to performers. Business is
- 8:15Speaker 1: way down. And they don't have any more of the stuff.
- 8:18Speaker 1: You know, they always had the free buffets. All of
- 8:19Speaker 1: that stuff is gone now. In fact, as business went down,
- 8:23Speaker 1: they made a huge mistake. They kept raising the prices,
- 8:26Speaker 1: causing business to drop even more. You know, now it's
- 8:30Speaker 1: like 25 bucks for a cup of coffee in Las Vegas.
- 8:32Speaker 1: A lot of people avoiding the place now. Hey, we
- 8:35Speaker 1: got a lot to get to. Don't forget, I'm here
- 8:36Speaker 1: three hours every day, nine to noon, three hours every day.
- 8:40Speaker 1: Then at noon, you got Buck Sexton, Clay Travis with
- 8:42Speaker 1: a great show. And then the most listened to radio
- 8:46Speaker 1: show in America, Sean Hannity at 3 o'clock, Jesse Kelly
- 8:50Speaker 1: at 6, the very funny Jimmy Fallon. This is one
- 8:53Speaker 1: of the best shows on radio. Every night, 9 to
- 8:56Speaker 1: midnight on 710WOR.
