- 0:09SPEAKER_02: Welcome to cover four.
- 0:11SPEAKER_02: If you're a Section Four football fan, it's your five.
- 0:16SPEAKER_02: I'm coaching today.
- 0:17SPEAKER_02: I'll be your host.
- 0:21SPEAKER_02: Welcome to week four of the 2021 Section 4 football spring season.
- 0:26SPEAKER_02: Our guest analyst today is Tim Bernie.
- 0:29SPEAKER_02: Tim has been covering sports in the northern tier of Pennsylvania and the southern tier of New York since 1989.
- 0:34SPEAKER_02: Tim founded the Valley Sports Report in 2009 and the Tioga County Sports Report in 2018.
- 0:41SPEAKER_02: Tim is also a former Waverly, Waverly Wolverine student athlete.
- 0:46SPEAKER_02: Welcome, Tim.
- 0:47SPEAKER_02: Coach, thanks for having me.
- 0:49SPEAKER_02: Yeah, appreciate you coming out and sharing your knowledge.
- 0:51SPEAKER_02: We always have a great time doing this.
- 0:53SPEAKER_02: Today, during the force, during the first quarter, Tim and I will discuss upcoming matchups.
- 0:58SPEAKER_02: And then the second quarter, Tim is going to give us insight and in-depth analysis on the five Tower County teams that he covers in section four.
- 1:07SPEAKER_02: All right, let's jump right in and kick it off.
- 1:09SPEAKER_02: Week four, you got Binghamton at UE.
- 1:12SPEAKER_02: Now, Binghamton has kind of fallen on hard times this season, but I know with Coach Ramil and the the uh staff that he has there at Binghamton, they're gonna get things turned around.
- 1:21SPEAKER_02: And Coach Bellino has has got the UE program on the right track, and he's doing good things there as well.
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: I saw UE play at Waverly a couple of years ago, and they had a bunch of sophomores and even a freshman or two on the team.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: So I know they they should be uh putting together things.
- 1:37SPEAKER_00: I I'd say they had some pretty good talent.
- 1:39SPEAKER_02: Actually, was it last the last time I think they played?
- 1:43SPEAKER_02: It was up at UE.
- 1:45SPEAKER_02: Uh Vest Um Waverly played at UE, and they actually beat Unicott at um UE.
- 1:50SPEAKER_02: And that was almost unheard of in the past to come up and play a large school like that.
- 1:55SPEAKER_02: So, really good things that uh the coach you know Miller is doing down there at Waverly.
- 2:00SPEAKER_02: Next game up is Norwich, and they're at Shenango Forks.
- 2:04SPEAKER_02: And Shenango Forks is typical Shenango Forks, they're just rolling along, they're coming in at three and zero right now.
- 2:10SPEAKER_02: And I watched was able to watch their game last week against Susquehanna Valley.
- 2:14SPEAKER_02: Very anticipated, highly anticipated game.
- 2:17SPEAKER_02: Uh, but Shenango Forks really dominated right from the beginning and just um they put the hammer down and didn't turn around.
- 2:23SPEAKER_02: And they have they have you know a really uh great program.
- 2:27SPEAKER_02: It's not just a football team, but it's a very good program there, and that's that's what you get when you have programs like that.
- 2:33SPEAKER_00: I was stunned to see that final score.
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: And I I spoke with uh Waverly coach Jason Miller after their game Saturday night, and he said he had watched the game instead of just Schnangle Forks is just a machine.
- 2:45SPEAKER_02: Exactly.
- 2:46SPEAKER_02: They have a big student athlete, Lucas Scott, at the running back, actually the fullback position.
- 2:52SPEAKER_02: And um, he's he's running behind guys that are smaller than him in some cases, and actually being guys trying to tackle him.
- 3:00SPEAKER_02: And he actually, uh, in Susquehanna Valley's very first series, I think it was their third or fourth play, their star player, uh Lucas Haskell, he um um went back for pass and uh Lucas Scott picked it off and ran it in for a touchdown.
- 3:17SPEAKER_02: So they can do a lot of different things.
- 3:19SPEAKER_00: He's a uh tremendous athlete.
- 3:21SPEAKER_00: I saw him win a state title in wrestling, division one state title in wrestling a couple years ago, and um for his size, just incredible um agility on his feet uh on the wrestling mat.
- 3:32SPEAKER_00: And he was only a sophomore, I believe.
- 3:34SPEAKER_00: Is he a senior this year?
- 3:35SPEAKER_02: He's a senior this year.
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: He's committed, yeah, would have been his sophomore year.
- 3:39SPEAKER_02: Yeah, he's committed to play football at the United States Military Academy at West Point.
- 3:45SPEAKER_02: So that's gonna I really want to get him on the show because some things I want to talk to him about.
- 3:49SPEAKER_02: My daughter went to the United States Military Academy at West Point, so I guess it was the it was his junior he won a state title, but we were I and a quick quick story.
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: I was at a a wrestling tournament and he was wrestling.
- 4:00SPEAKER_00: I was there covering Tyoga and he was wrestling, and there were a bunch of kids from uh a rival one of the rival schools, younger kids sitting around the mat, and they were kind of they were kind of uh razzing him.
- 4:11SPEAKER_00: And there was probably six or eight of them, they were all little smaller weight class, you know, kids, and they were razzing him and he was smiling.
- 4:17SPEAKER_00: And about halfway through his match, um, he's wrestling 285, and he drives this kid out of bounds and basically throws him right into the middle of the pile, and those kids scurried like ants.
- 4:27SPEAKER_00: And he turned around and he looked and he just had a big grin on his face because all these kids had taken off, you know, and uh so he got the last laugh there.
- 4:35SPEAKER_02: Yeah, from what I can see, he's a he's a great student athlete, which uh you know, all these student athletes that we talk about here in Section Four football, they tend to be really good student athletes, and that's that's that's a good testament to the the section and also the coaches and and the parents of these student athletes.
- 4:51SPEAKER_00: Next game getting into a military school, you know, West Point is incredible on its own.
- 4:56SPEAKER_02: Yeah, absolutely.
- 4:57SPEAKER_02: You're you're definitely right with that.
- 4:59SPEAKER_02: Next game up is Shenango Valley against Maine Enwell.
- 5:03SPEAKER_02: And this is what I call the student facing the teacher.
- 5:05SPEAKER_02: Nick Sorrenti is leading Shenango Valley, and he's got that program on the right track.
- 5:10SPEAKER_02: And he's going against his old coach, not old, but his former coach at Maine Enwell, Matt Gallagher.
- 5:16SPEAKER_02: And Nick was one of the uh key players, key student athletes on one of those first two, I think, or maybe even three uh state championships that they had in their successful run.
- 5:27SPEAKER_02: So that's going to be an interesting game to watch.
- 5:29SPEAKER_02: Next game up, you've got Vestel at Johnson City.
- 5:32SPEAKER_02: Uh, Vestel is just coming off a big time win where they score, I think it was 56, 56.
- 5:41SPEAKER_02: So many points they scored.
- 5:43SPEAKER_02: Um, should have it.
- 5:45SPEAKER_02: Yeah, they actually beat Binghamton 56 to nothing.
- 5:49SPEAKER_02: Um, so that they've got a very potent offense.
- 5:51SPEAKER_02: They're they're very young.
- 5:52SPEAKER_02: Coach Place, I know at Johnson City has got his team playing really well, the Wildcats, so that should be a good game as well.
- 5:59SPEAKER_02: Now, Coach Ford and Susquehanna Valley are coming off their loss to Shenango Forks against Coach Hogan.
- 6:06SPEAKER_02: Now they're going to play at Waverly against Coach Hogan's brother, Tim Hogan.
- 6:10SPEAKER_02: So, this is the second week in a row that Coach Ford is will be facing a Coach Hogan-led team.
- 6:14SPEAKER_02: And you know that uh with a Coach Hogan uh after your team's name, that your team is going to be a really good football team.
- 6:21SPEAKER_02: So that should be an interesting game as well.
- 6:23SPEAKER_02: Now we actually have a game today.
- 6:25SPEAKER_02: We're recording this podcast Tuesday, April 6th.
- 6:29SPEAKER_02: Will uh Walton is supposed to be playing at Sydney today, so that's one game that's going on today, and then Sydney turns around and has to go play Oneana this weekend.
- 6:39SPEAKER_02: So that's just one of the little quirks you have now because of this COVID type season.
- 6:45SPEAKER_02: Whitney Point is going to be at Harpersville, Delhi, which is undefeated right now at two and zero.
- 6:51SPEAKER_02: Coach Newman's going to take them to Walton and face Coach Adam Hoover there.
- 6:55SPEAKER_02: That in itself is just one of those where you know it's cliche, but we say you throw out the records because this is Walton and Del High, and they've had some classic games over the years.
- 7:04SPEAKER_02: So you expect a really good game there.
- 7:06SPEAKER_02: Deposit Hancock is going to be at Bainbridge Guilford.
- 7:09SPEAKER_02: And here's one Tim that you can talk a little bit about.
- 7:12SPEAKER_02: Coach Verkler there with the Weagles going to go up and play at Newark Valley against Coach Hardenstein.
- 7:18SPEAKER_00: You know, it should be an interesting contest.
- 7:20SPEAKER_00: Uh, Newark Valley has uh run the ball effectively, even in the loss against Corning.
- 7:25SPEAKER_00: You know, it's a really good squad this year.
- 7:27SPEAKER_00: You know, they put 165 yards of rushing up against Corning.
- 7:31SPEAKER_00: Uh, you know, they they they can run the ball.
- 7:33SPEAKER_00: They've got three good backs.
- 7:34SPEAKER_00: Um, matter of fact, when they beat Sydney, they ran for 298 yards and threw for 189.
- 7:40SPEAKER_00: Mike Wandell's got a decent arm or good arm, and he's got a couple big targets in Cam Carrier and uh and uh Jacob Armstrong.
- 7:50SPEAKER_00: So, you know, in a weego, if Cam Bundy plays for a Uigo, he he missed the title of the game.
- 7:54SPEAKER_00: Um, if he plays against a Uigo, they're a different or against uh Newark Valley, they're a different football team.
- 7:59SPEAKER_00: He's he's their main running back and their leading tackler at linebacker.
- 8:03SPEAKER_00: Uh should be an interesting contest.
- 8:05SPEAKER_00: Plus, it's Saturday afternoon football, right?
- 8:07SPEAKER_00: So what gets better?
- 8:08SPEAKER_00: What's better than that?
- 8:09SPEAKER_02: That's what it's all about.
- 8:10SPEAKER_02: That's what it's all about.
- 8:11SPEAKER_02: Matter of fact, the theme song for this podcast should make you think of Saturday afternoon.
- 8:16SPEAKER_02: Okay, next game up is Groton at Tyoga.
- 8:21SPEAKER_00: A uh Tyoga, you know, it's we'll talk a little bit more about this in the second quarter, but you know, a shame this year.
- 8:29SPEAKER_00: Tyoga uh really would have been uh a big threat in Class D uh for a state title this year.
- 8:37SPEAKER_00: And maybe the toughest team they would have faced all year would have been Newark Valley, who dropped onto Class D.
- 8:42SPEAKER_00: You know, that would have been a war.
- 8:43SPEAKER_00: It still will be a war in two weeks when they play.
- 8:46SPEAKER_00: But Tyoga's loaded.
- 8:47SPEAKER_00: Um, Emmett Wood was coach's player of the year last year as a sophomore.
- 8:53SPEAKER_00: You know, he's averaging more than 200 yards a game uh this year.
- 8:56SPEAKER_00: Groton back up from the eight-man ranks.
- 8:58SPEAKER_00: Uh, I don't know much about him.
- 9:00SPEAKER_00: I know that um, you know, they they beat Tyoga twice in 2016, the only year that Tyoga didn't win a section title in the last nine seasons.
- 9:08SPEAKER_00: Um, but since then they've had some, and before that, they they struggled.
- 9:11SPEAKER_00: Tyoga's kind of like a machine like Schnangle Forks as far as the ground game goes.
- 9:16SPEAKER_00: So, and that game has been moved to Tyoga this week instead of playing in a Uego.
- 9:20SPEAKER_00: So that's the home fans will be happy about that.
- 9:23SPEAKER_02: Okay, good.
- 9:24SPEAKER_02: Uh now coming up next, we have Ithaca is going to travel to corning painted post, and like you alluded to, they really are a machine.
- 9:31SPEAKER_02: They they have all they're hitting on all cylinders and all phases of the game, you know, the uh offense, defense, and the the kicking game.
- 9:39SPEAKER_02: So they're a they're a force to be reckoned with, but they're going into that game right now, three-zero, and and ithaca is our road warrior team this year because their field is unplayable, and you got to give that program and all their support staff and their athletic director and everybody involved a lot of credit because they don't get the opportunity to have a home game, so they're they're always traveling.
- 9:58SPEAKER_02: Then the rest of the games you got Waverly has got a bye, Elmira's got a bye, horseheads a bye, Dryden a bye, and Waverly actually actually Waverly and Dryden are playing this week at Waverly.
- 10:11SPEAKER_00: They they made that game last week.
- 10:13SPEAKER_00: Um, so Waverley and Dryden play Friday night at Waverly.
- 10:18SPEAKER_02: At Waverly.
- 10:19SPEAKER_02: See, and to our let our listeners know that's why we have Tim on this show so he can get it straightened out here.
- 10:24SPEAKER_00: And there's two teams that are struggling this year.
- 10:26SPEAKER_00: Um, you know, Waverley's very young.
- 10:29SPEAKER_00: Uh Dryden, Dryden actually um against Tyoga showed that they've they've got some pretty solid players up front for them.
- 10:36SPEAKER_00: So it could be an interesting matchup with Waverly this week.
- 10:39SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and I watched the Waverley game last week, and they had uh what you know, it's not really no such thing as a moral victory, but they played very well against Newark Valley.
- 10:47SPEAKER_02: They ended up losing the game 28 to 12, and they were playing at home, but they uh they played really well, and then their defense is tends to struggle, you know, eat not struggle each year, but they're not necessarily always the strongest part of the team.
- 11:02SPEAKER_02: But you got to give them credit last week.
- 11:04SPEAKER_02: They did a really good job.
- 11:05SPEAKER_00: And they were they were playing without their all-state linebacker David Hallett, who got hurt against a Uyghur, and he'll he'll miss the rest of the season.
- 11:11SPEAKER_02: And he's uh strong player on offense as well.
- 11:14SPEAKER_00: I've yeah, he's the leading leading ground carrier, ground gainer on the season, too.
- 11:20SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I can recall, I remember calling his name a lot in the last few years.
- 11:23SPEAKER_02: Outstanding student athlete.
- 11:25SPEAKER_02: Uh Elmyra, as far as I know, has a bye, horseheads a bye, Dryden a bye, and Watkins Glen Odesimontor, uh, who was two and zero, has to have a bye.
- 11:35SPEAKER_02: So those are uh some teams that'll be out in the wings, and between now and this weekend, something could change.
- 11:41SPEAKER_02: They may pick up a game.
- 11:43SPEAKER_02: So make sure you you check out the cover four podcast or I'm sorry, the cover four uh Twitter account and the other uh people that that follow the sports or report the sports to see if any of your those are your teams that have buys currently that may have uh picked up a game.
- 11:59SPEAKER_02: Now we'll jump into the eight-player division, which is the largest division now with 11 teams in section four.
- 12:08SPEAKER_02: You got Green, who just transitioned to the the eight-man game, is doing really well, is going to play at Unit Unadilla Valley, Oxford at Unitico Franklin, and then Trumansburg at Spencer Vanett and Kander, and Kander's two and zero.
- 12:24SPEAKER_02: And this this actually could be Spencer Vanette and Cander's last game right now, unless they end up getting another game.
- 12:31SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I'll be curious um to see if this is a one-year and out for Spencer Vinett and Cander.
- 12:39SPEAKER_00: I mean, they had pretty decent numbers last year, and they've actually got 23 players on their roster for an eight-man team, which you know, to me, 23.
- 12:47SPEAKER_00: I mean, Tyoga only carries 23 on their varsity roster right now.
- 12:50SPEAKER_00: So I'm not sure why you know why they're in the eight-man ranks this year with 23 players.
- 12:56SPEAKER_00: Now, last week they had a quarantine issue and they only had 14 kids in uniform.
- 13:00SPEAKER_00: So I'm hoping that it's a one-year and back in the 11-man ranks next year for Spencer Benton Candor.
- 13:06SPEAKER_00: It'd be nice to see anyway.
- 13:07SPEAKER_02: Okay, and then Notre Dame with the first year head coach Tom Strubble, they're gonna be at Newfield, and Lansing is gonna be at Moravia.
- 13:17SPEAKER_02: Now, Thomas A.
- 13:18SPEAKER_02: Edison had a bye listed, but I just found out today that they will play space and spack and kill out of Poughkeepsie area.
- 13:26SPEAKER_02: That's going to be a Friday night game at 3:30 at Thomas A.
- 13:29SPEAKER_02: Edison.
- 13:30SPEAKER_02: So, you Thomas A.
- 13:31SPEAKER_02: Edison fans, you got a game this weekend.
- 13:33SPEAKER_02: So that's that's you know one of the things that happens this year.
- 13:37SPEAKER_02: That completes the first quarter.
- 13:39SPEAKER_02: Now we'll jump right into the second quarter, and Tim will give us a review of the Tauga County teams in section four that he covers.
- 13:46SPEAKER_02: Take it away, Tim.
- 13:48SPEAKER_00: Okay, let's start out with a weego.
- 13:50SPEAKER_00: Uh, the Indians have 22 seniors on their roster this year, uh, absolutely loaded with seniors.
- 13:56SPEAKER_00: Quite a shame.
- 13:57SPEAKER_00: Uh, this is a program that's never won a section four football title, which is astounding.
- 14:02SPEAKER_00: Of course, you know, a lot of that has to do with the fact that they're in the same classification with Maine Endwell.
- 14:08SPEAKER_00: Uh Shenango Forks and Waverly have been back and forth between B and C over the over the last two decades.
- 14:14SPEAKER_00: And those three programs have probably won every Section Four title in the last 20 years in those in that classification.
- 14:22SPEAKER_00: Um, this is a good good Ouigo football team.
- 14:25SPEAKER_00: Like I said, they lost last week 21-12 to uh Tyoga.
- 14:28SPEAKER_00: Cam Bundy didn't play.
- 14:30SPEAKER_00: There's been an interesting uh back and forth on social media between Tyoga and Oigo fans uh over the difference one player can make.
- 14:39SPEAKER_00: Um, obviously, you can tell on whose side who's on what side, but Tyoga fans should keep it in mind that last year in the state semifinals, another 28-27 loss to climber Sherman Panama, Emmett Wood was injured, and Tyoga let a lead slip away, or they could have won another state title.
- 14:57SPEAKER_00: So, you know, interesting banner there.
- 15:00SPEAKER_00: Uh you know, Ouigo started the season uh with a turnover field loss at Elmira, bounced back, held Waverly to 89 yards in total offense, 121 to nothing.
- 15:11SPEAKER_00: You know, then this week uh against Tyoga, a uh Tyoga's tough, and Oigo held them to 21 points.
- 15:20SPEAKER_00: Uh you know, pretty good football team.
- 15:22SPEAKER_00: You know, they come back this week, they got another tough battle going into Newark Valley on Saturday afternoon.
- 15:29SPEAKER_00: Um you know Section Four, Class D is pretty darn good.
- 15:35SPEAKER_00: And we, you know, we've seen Tyoga and uh other schools in in Class D have a lot of ANSI have a lot of success at the state level.
- 15:45SPEAKER_00: Uh you know, this I mentioned Weagles never won a Section Four title.
- 15:50SPEAKER_00: I think this year would have been their best shot, although Maine NWA would have been a very tough out for them.
- 15:56SPEAKER_00: I mean, that would have been a tough game for them.
- 15:58SPEAKER_00: Uh, you know, we're looking uh looking ahead to next year.
- 16:01SPEAKER_00: Uh 22 seniors, a lot to replace.
- 16:05SPEAKER_00: You know, they lose most of their skill players, they lose most of their line.
- 16:09SPEAKER_00: Uh, you know, they got a few uh underclassmen, junior linebacker Matt Gatto, uh junior defensive back Daniel Schofield, uh junior running back and defensive back Stephen Bidwell.
- 16:22SPEAKER_00: Uh, there are a few pieces returning, but Coach Verkler is really and his staff are really going to have a lot of work to do.
- 16:28SPEAKER_00: Um, one good thing I I would think out of this whole uh COVID mess is that with the spring football season, coaches um can kind of keep things rolling.
- 16:40SPEAKER_00: You know, they can keep their um seven-on-sevens going, they'll have summer camps and and uh they can roll right into August.
- 16:47SPEAKER_00: So I think um if there's one positive you can take out of this, it's the fact that uh these coaches, some of the coaches have expressed to me over the fact that you know they'd rather have played football in the fall, but the way things have turned out, they couldn't ask for anything better to build for 2022.
- 17:04SPEAKER_00: Um you know, let's turn our attention to Newark Valley now.
- 17:08SPEAKER_00: Uh 20 seniors on the Cardinal roster.
- 17:11SPEAKER_00: And again, you know, you know, they they won section title and a state title in 2016, came back in 2017, won another section four title.
- 17:21SPEAKER_00: Um, I believe it was a skinny atlas they played in in the state playoffs and took them right to the buzzer, lost in the final seconds.
- 17:30SPEAKER_00: They went on to win a state title.
- 17:32SPEAKER_00: Um, so a great program.
- 17:35SPEAKER_00: They've done such a good job the last 10 years up at Newark Valley with that program.
- 17:39SPEAKER_00: You know, they opened the season with a 52-28 win over Sydney.
- 17:43SPEAKER_00: They scored just about every way imaginable in that game.
- 17:45SPEAKER_00: Uh, running touchdowns by Raiden Ford, senior defensive end Jacob Armstrong with a pick six.
- 17:51SPEAKER_00: Uh, he later blocked a punt and senior Cam Carrier scooped it up for a touchdown.
- 17:55SPEAKER_00: You know, they ran for 298 yards, through for 189.
- 17:59SPEAKER_00: Probably as good an offensive performance as you can put together.
- 18:03SPEAKER_00: Then the next week they go to Corning, and it's 55-6 the other way, but they still put up 160 some yards on a very good defensive team on the ground.
- 18:11SPEAKER_00: Last week they went into Waverly, scored, uh opened the game with a quick five-play, 57-yard scoring drive.
- 18:19SPEAKER_00: Waverly's third play, freshman quarterback Joey Tommaso gets hit.
- 18:22SPEAKER_00: Ball flutters out into the flats.
- 18:24SPEAKER_00: Junior Mike Wandell grabs it, runs 42 yards for a touchdown, is 13-0, three and a half minutes into the game.
- 18:31SPEAKER_00: Uh, rest of the game, Newark Valley really hurt themselves with penalties.
- 18:35SPEAKER_00: They kind of clean that up in the fourth quarter, put together a couple scoring drives, and 128-12.
- 18:40SPEAKER_00: Um really strong team on the ground.
- 18:43SPEAKER_00: Uh, three or four running backs.
- 18:45SPEAKER_00: Um, Raiden Ford has um had a nice, nice season.
- 18:49SPEAKER_00: I think he's let's see, um, 274 yards in the first three games.
- 18:54SPEAKER_00: Brenton Rosenberg has 150 yards in the first three three games.
- 18:59SPEAKER_00: They're averaging um about 250 yards a game on the ground.
- 19:05SPEAKER_00: Um, and they're dangerous in the air.
- 19:07SPEAKER_00: I mean, when you throw for 198 yards in a game, you're you're doing something right and you're you're capable.
- 19:12SPEAKER_00: Um looking ahead to next year, again, you know, Coach Hardenstein and his staff are going to have a job on their hands.
- 19:20SPEAKER_00: 20 seniors, a lot to replace for a class D school, especially.
- 19:23SPEAKER_00: Uh, but they do bring back junior quarterback Mike Wandell, uh, sophomore running back and linebacker Landon Spoonauer, uh, a couple young linemen, including two-way lineman sophomore Caleb Carp, will be back.
- 19:36SPEAKER_00: And um, like I said, a really good program, good coaching staff.
- 19:42SPEAKER_00: They have a lot of work to do, but I have faith in the fact that I think Newark Valley will be back and it'll be very competitive once again next year.
- 19:49SPEAKER_00: Uh Waverly, 0-3.
- 19:51SPEAKER_00: You don't see Jason Miller teams 0-3 very often, but this is a team with only a handful of seniors, uh, a ton of sophomores, even a few freshmen, including freshman quarterback Joey Tomaso.
- 20:04SPEAKER_00: Uh, they opened the season.
- 20:06SPEAKER_00: They played three very good football teams in Tyoga, Uigo, and Newark Valley.
- 20:10SPEAKER_00: Um, have not been embarrassed in any of the games.
- 20:13SPEAKER_00: 37-16 loss at Tyoga, uh against Tyoga, I should say.
- 20:19SPEAKER_00: But in that game, uh, on successive plays, Waverly dropped touchdown passes uh that would have been 25-yard touchdown passes, and dropped them.
- 20:29SPEAKER_00: Uh, they fumbled at the four-yard line.
- 20:31SPEAKER_00: Uh they turned the ball over again late.
- 20:33SPEAKER_00: So a game that 37-16, but probably was a lot closer football game, especially statistically, Waverly ran for more than 300 yards on the ground against a pretty good Tyoga defense.
- 20:44SPEAKER_00: Uh, then they turned around the next week and really struggled at a we go offensively.
- 20:48SPEAKER_00: Uh, David Hallett, their lead running back, was injured.
- 20:52SPEAKER_00: Um, they they couldn't get much going on the ground.
- 20:55SPEAKER_00: Um, the passing game struggled, 89 yards total offense in a 21, there's nothing loss.
- 21:00SPEAKER_00: Uh, this past week we talked about the Newark Valley game, uh, but their defense has played pretty well, um, especially considering the amount of time they've spent on the field with all the offensive struggles they've had.
- 21:11SPEAKER_00: And you know, that takes a toll.
- 21:12SPEAKER_00: It doesn't matter how good your defense is.
- 21:14SPEAKER_00: If you're spending the majority of the game on the field, you're gonna it's gonna take a toll.
- 21:19SPEAKER_00: Uh so I said they only have a handful of uh seniors.
- 21:25SPEAKER_00: Caden Wheeler is gonna be missed.
- 21:26SPEAKER_00: He's a two-way guy, uh, he's a threat to take the ball the distance anytime he touches it.
- 21:30SPEAKER_00: You know, he'll be gone after this year.
- 21:32SPEAKER_00: Uh, but they bring back a ton.
- 21:36SPEAKER_00: Freshman quarterback Joey Tomaso.
- 21:39SPEAKER_00: Um Jason Miller has kind of taken the reins off him.
- 21:43SPEAKER_00: As an eighth grader last year, he was small.
- 21:45SPEAKER_00: He's gotten bigger uh this year.
- 21:47SPEAKER_00: And you know, Jason likes to run that, Coach Miller likes to run that midline option.
- 21:52SPEAKER_00: And he wouldn't do it with Tommaso last year as an eighth grader because he didn't think he was physical enough and probably a smart call on his part.
- 21:59unknown: Well
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: Year against Tyoga in the first game.
- 22:02SPEAKER_00: The first time uh he ran the midline option, he went around left end for a touchdown, untouched.
- 22:08SPEAKER_00: A beautiful run, though.
- 22:09SPEAKER_00: I mean, and later in the game, he had one call back on an even longer run.
- 22:12SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I actually saw that.
- 22:13SPEAKER_02: I saw both of those, and it was uh you know, it he what led to that success of that play was he was so good with the ball fake that with the call ball ball mechanic or you know, handling the ball and made a nice fake and took it and turned around the end.
- 22:26SPEAKER_02: Twice he did that, and you're absolutely right.
- 22:28SPEAKER_02: One was good, one was called back.
- 22:30SPEAKER_00: And he he he's got an you know, he's just a tremendous athlete.
- 22:34SPEAKER_00: He's a you know, he's gonna be a thousand-point scorer in basketball.
- 22:38SPEAKER_00: He started on the Waverly baseball team as a seventh grader, and the Waverly baseball team is perennially in the class B playoff picture, so it's not like he, you know, he's starting in a bad program as a seventh grader, so just a tremendous all-around athlete.
- 22:53SPEAKER_00: Um the only problem they've got this year is a lot of his playmakers are young, freshmen and sophomores.
- 23:00SPEAKER_00: Um, he's also been plagued by at least 12 drops in the first three games from his receivers.
- 23:06SPEAKER_00: So, you know, he's he's completing about 45, 40 percent of his passes.
- 23:09SPEAKER_00: But if you put the 12 drops in there, he'd be over 50 percent.
- 23:13SPEAKER_00: Um just uh I apologize here.
- 23:19SPEAKER_00: But anyway, just looking at a few kids they've got coming back next year, freshman Jay Piper, uh sophomore Isaiah Brettz, juniors, Brady Blaubelt, and Tyler Talada, all receivers.
- 23:28SPEAKER_00: Um, you know that Waverly likes to throw the ball, so he'll have some uh a nice receiving core coming back with some experience next year.
- 23:34SPEAKER_00: Uh, they're gonna need a running back.
- 23:36SPEAKER_00: Um, you know, they lose both Hala and Wheeler.
- 23:40SPEAKER_00: Uh, someone will have to step in and, you know, obviously in the ground game, and that'll make Tommaso that much tougher in that midline option.
- 23:48SPEAKER_00: Uh, offensive or up front, they lose a couple pretty good linemen in Hunter Rando and Logan Shipman.
- 23:54SPEAKER_00: But the future looks pretty bright there.
- 23:55SPEAKER_00: It's center Ty Beaman's only a sophomore, and he's an all-star, he's a section four all-star in the making.
- 24:01SPEAKER_00: He's going to be a very good one.
- 24:02SPEAKER_00: And he's got a couple big classmates and Zach Vanderpool and Jake Benjamin up front.
- 24:06SPEAKER_00: Uh junior, Caden Tersik will be back next year for a senior year.
- 24:10SPEAKER_00: Good, uh, a little undersized guard, but very quick and very effective, and a tremendous linebacker.
- 24:15SPEAKER_00: Um, he's a ball hawk at linebacker.
- 24:17SPEAKER_00: DJ Shaw will be back next year at linebacker.
- 24:20SPEAKER_00: Uh and that all those receivers will be in the defensive backfield next year, very athletic.
- 24:26SPEAKER_00: I think uh defensive coordinator Dave Shaw usually does a good job.
- 24:30SPEAKER_00: You talked about um I think their defense gets overlooked a lot because when they've won section titles, their defense has been very good.
- 24:38SPEAKER_00: And Dave Shaw, and he'll be the first one to admit it, if you see them early in the year, their defense won't impress you a lot of times, but by week eight, week nine, week 10, um they're pretty good.
- 24:53SPEAKER_00: And a lot of times, just like their offense, this year, I think their offense has struggled so much this year because they run a very complicated, complex offense.
- 25:03SPEAKER_00: And the fact that you know the other teams in section in in Tyle County are ground game run-oriented, they've been doing the same thing for years.
- 25:10SPEAKER_00: So these kids play from the time they're seven, eight years old in the same offense.
- 25:15SPEAKER_00: And at Waverly, um, they have a version of that in their younger kids, but you know, you just can't absorb all that.
- 25:21SPEAKER_00: So the fact that these you that not only do they have a young team, but they have a complex offense and they didn't have the same type of off-season they normally do.
- 25:29SPEAKER_00: And I think their offense has really struggled because of that.
- 25:31SPEAKER_00: And the defense, um they do a little more than a lot of teams do too defensively, and sometimes it takes them a while to pick up on things.
- 25:39SPEAKER_00: So, no excuses here, they're all in three against three good teams, but I think as far as Tyoga County teams go, they've been hurt more than any other team because of the way they do things by the lack of practice time and play time that they've had.
- 25:55SPEAKER_00: So now we move into Tyoga.
- 25:57SPEAKER_00: And uh Coach Nick Aiello came on board in Tyoga in 2010, and since then he's had uh through the from 2010 to 2019, he racked up 91 wins, eight section four titles, won uh all eight state quarterfinal games by an average of 30 some points over section three.
- 26:21SPEAKER_00: Um, unfortunately, one and seven in this in the state semifinals, but in seven of those losses, five of the teams they lost to went on to win state titles.
- 26:30SPEAKER_00: Um, they had three of those losses were by less than you know, by a touchdown or by a score or less, a couple big losses, but just an unbelievable run they put together up there.
- 26:40SPEAKER_00: Uh Nick Aiello, he's got 91 wins, like I said, added three more, so he's at 94 right now.
- 26:46SPEAKER_00: So next year he'll pick up his 100th win.
- 26:49SPEAKER_00: He should anyway, with what he's got going back.
- 26:52SPEAKER_00: Uh this year they're off to a nice 3-0 start, 37-16 win over Waverly, uh 40-6 over Dryden, and then last week 21-12 over Oego.
- 27:02SPEAKER_00: They're averaging 337 yards a game on the ground.
- 27:06SPEAKER_00: Uh senior quarterback Ethan Aigan uh has stepped in, is completing a few passes a game.
- 27:13SPEAKER_00: You know, they don't look to throw the ball a lot, especially when they're running as effectively as they are.
- 27:18SPEAKER_00: Uh Emmett Wood, you know, like I said last year, 2,600 yards off the top of my head, 2,600 yards and 35 touchdowns, something like that.
- 27:27SPEAKER_00: Uh this year in three games, he's got 619 yards and six touchdowns.
- 27:32SPEAKER_00: Uh and the scary part about this for the rest of Section 4 Class D is they've only got a handful of seniors.
- 27:40SPEAKER_00: Most of this team is junior.
- 27:43SPEAKER_00: Uh, they've got a few sophomores and a couple freshmen, and they've got a loaded freshman class coming in.
- 27:50SPEAKER_00: Matter of fact, their JV team beat Schnango Forks last week up there 20 to 14.
- 27:56SPEAKER_00: So that tells you that they can that this freshman and it and it's almost exclusively freshmen, too.
- 28:01SPEAKER_00: So I think uh the future is gonna stay bright in Tyoga.
- 28:06SPEAKER_00: Um, you know, not only is Emmett Wood back next year for a senior season, but Gavin Godfrey, their fullback, is back.
- 28:13SPEAKER_00: He's got uh three rushing touchdowns and three receiving touchdowns this year.
- 28:18SPEAKER_00: Uh they they've got back um Isaac Peterson, another running back, uh Ethan Perry, who is I would put in a 40-yard dash about against about anybody in section four.
- 28:29SPEAKER_00: He plays a lot of slot, runs a lot of jet sweeps with him.
- 28:32SPEAKER_00: He's also they'll put him in at quarterback and run the option with him.
- 28:36SPEAKER_00: Uh they've got um a couple wide receivers uh that are they're very fast at playing the defensive backfield as well.
- 28:43SPEAKER_00: Uh they're loaded.
- 28:45SPEAKER_00: And they've got a uh young quarterback on the JV team, freshman Caden Bellis, uh, who was a state place winner on the wrestling team last year.
- 28:53SPEAKER_00: He'll be up 99% certain he'll be the starting quarterback next year as a sophomore.
- 28:58SPEAKER_00: Good arm, um, sky high football IQ, um, runs the option pretty well, nice at arm.
- 29:07SPEAKER_00: Um, and they're loaded all over the field.
- 29:09SPEAKER_00: The only the only question mark they might have is up front.
- 29:12SPEAKER_00: They're gonna have a lot of young linemen.
- 29:14SPEAKER_00: I think a lot of these, they've got some freshmen, um, big freshmen that'll step in and uh Coach Mac, Coach Macaulay, and and Iello will coach these guys up and they'll be ready by the time the postseason rolls around.
- 29:27SPEAKER_00: But uh if you're looking for Tyoga to falter anytime in the future, it's gonna be a while.
- 29:33SPEAKER_00: They're they're here for another three or four years anyway, I'd say.
- 29:37SPEAKER_00: And that brings us to uh Spencer Bennett and Candor, or they're as they're known locally, is Spec.
- 29:43SPEAKER_00: Um, it's a little easier to say than sounds funny, but a little easier to say than Spencer Burnett and Candor every time you want to mention them.
- 29:49SPEAKER_00: Uh, as we talked about a little earlier, uh dropped from 11 man to eight man this year, and they did it the week before uh the season was supposed to start.
- 29:58SPEAKER_00: That's why they only got two games in so far.
- 30:00SPEAKER_00: Plus, they had a they did have a week of COVID protocol at one point during the season.
- 30:05SPEAKER_00: Uh I'm not really sure what what happened up there.
- 30:09SPEAKER_00: You know, they had pretty decent numbers up there last year.
- 30:11SPEAKER_00: I I have noticed by the look of the roster that several of their key players from last year, especially uh quarterback Matt Byrne and wide receiver slotbackslash quarterback James Sutherland.
- 30:24SPEAKER_00: He didn't neither one of those two came out.
- 30:25SPEAKER_00: I saw there's some other linemen that didn't come out, and and and uh so I'm not I'm not sure why.
- 30:32SPEAKER_00: You know, and I don't want to speculate either.
- 30:34SPEAKER_00: But they've opened up the season eight, man, with uh 50 to 22 win over Unitivo Franklin, and then they beat a decent Newfield, pretty decent Newfield team, 50 to 36 uh last week.
- 30:47SPEAKER_00: Junior running back Connor Haynes has had uh two monster games.
- 30:51SPEAKER_00: I think he's averaging about 225 yards a game.
- 30:54SPEAKER_00: They scored a bunch of touchdowns.
- 30:55SPEAKER_00: Devin Beach at uh tight end and linebacker has been a standout for him.
- 31:00SPEAKER_00: Uh he's a junior.
- 31:02SPEAKER_00: Uh junior quarterback Nick Thomas has done a nice job at quarterback uh and at linebacker.
- 31:08SPEAKER_00: Uh Jason Terriberry has been one of his biggest threats at wide receiver.
- 31:12SPEAKER_00: Uh the Osamon Duncanson, who people wrestling fans in Section 4 know is an outstanding wrestler, played football this year as a freshman.
- 31:20SPEAKER_00: Uh, he's played running back and defensive back, had a really big game against Unitegold Franklin, had to sit out the Newfield game with an injury.
- 31:28SPEAKER_00: Um matter of fact, they had 23 players on their roster in uniform for the United Go Franklin game.
- 31:34SPEAKER_00: And between injuries and COVID protocol, they only addressed 14 for the Newfield game last uh week.
- 31:42SPEAKER_00: And then uh their big lineman, probably uh their standout lineman is Elliot Walter.
- 31:46SPEAKER_00: He uh two-way.
- 31:48SPEAKER_00: Most of the kids on the eight-man play two-way, uh, from what I understand.
- 31:52SPEAKER_00: I've got to tell you, I've never seen an eight-man football game.
- 31:55SPEAKER_00: So I don't I don't know the uh the intricacies of the game or the nuances of the game.
- 32:01SPEAKER_00: Uh, I do understand that it's a much more wide open game.
- 32:04SPEAKER_00: And um, you know, as we discussed off the year, you better be a sure tackler in sex in uh eight-man football because there's not many people there to help you if you miss a tackle.
- 32:15SPEAKER_00: So that's about where we're at with Tyoga County football.
- 32:18SPEAKER_00: Um, all I can say is if we don't talk again in two weeks, if they if you can get to the game somehow or if you're gonna stream it, Newark Valley Tyoga should be a war.
- 32:28SPEAKER_00: I'm looking forward to that.
- 32:29SPEAKER_00: I've had it circled even with COVID.
- 32:32SPEAKER_00: I've had this circled on the calendar because these are two programs.
- 32:35SPEAKER_00: You know, anybody that watched the game last week or was at the Waverly Newark Valley game, first half was very chippy, a lot of jaw and a lot of physical play.
- 32:43SPEAKER_00: The referees got it under control in the second half.
- 32:46SPEAKER_00: If you think that was bad, Whal Tyoga and Newark Valley get on the field together because these are two school districts that are that know each other very well.
- 32:53SPEAKER_02: Sure.
- 32:54SPEAKER_00: When they wrestle, it's a war, when they play football, it's a war.
- 32:57SPEAKER_00: The fans between the fans, it's a war, social media is a war.
- 33:00SPEAKER_00: You know, it's um it's as good a rivalry as there is in section four.
- 33:05SPEAKER_02: And if you can keep it in check and keep it in perspective, those, like you said, you use the rivalry word, and it's not necessarily adversarial, it's just that because of so much common information and and people knowing each other, that's what makes things fun.
- 33:20SPEAKER_02: As long as it's kept in perspective and it's it's clean and it's kept between the lines, and that's what makes for interesting conversation like you and I are having.
- 33:28SPEAKER_02: Tim, I want to tell you that is a wealth of information on Tioga County teams, and I know our listeners are really gonna appreciate that.
- 33:36SPEAKER_02: And when I get this podcast out, I'll make sure we tweet it out and uh make sure that everybody realizes that.
- 33:41SPEAKER_02: But you did a great job.
- 33:43SPEAKER_02: I appreciate that.
- 33:44SPEAKER_02: I look forward to having you on in the future.
- 33:46SPEAKER_02: Also, I appreciate it.
- 33:48SPEAKER_02: Another thing, too, Tim, is you do a lot of stuff with the sports reports down in the valley.
- 33:53SPEAKER_02: How do our listeners get to that information or what's the best way to read your information?
- 33:59SPEAKER_00: Well, it's uh Bally Sports Report is www.ballysportsreport.com.
- 34:06SPEAKER_00: Uh we cover not only do we cover Waverly and Tyoga, we cover Sarah and Athens uh in the northern tier of Pennsylvania.
- 34:11SPEAKER_00: And then we have uh Tioga County Sports Report.com.
- 34:14SPEAKER_00: That's wtyoga county sportsreport.com.
- 34:19SPEAKER_00: Uh we cover Spencer, Bennetton, Cander, Newark Valley, and Owego with links to the Waverley and Tyoga page.
- 34:25SPEAKER_00: So you can get to all six Together County schools from one website.
- 34:29SPEAKER_00: Um, and on an aside for anybody, we have uh two other websites that cover the Bradford County Schools in Pennsylvania.
- 34:36SPEAKER_00: That's Northern Tier Sports Report.
- 34:38SPEAKER_00: And we're in Tower County, Pennsylvania, the Wellsboro Mansfield area, those five schools with uh Northern Tier West Sports Report.
- 34:44SPEAKER_00: And uh breaking news for you, coach.
- 34:46SPEAKER_00: In um August, we will be launching our fifth website, uh Southern Tier Sports Report, which will cover Elmira Corning and uh all five schools in the Elmira Corning area.
- 34:56SPEAKER_02: Nice.
- 34:57SPEAKER_02: That's that's what we want to do.
- 34:58SPEAKER_02: We're trying to get this podcast and what you're doing, getting that information out there for people.

- 35:15SPEAKER_02: Again, I really appreciate it.
- 35:16SPEAKER_02: I know our listeners are going to appreciate uh the information we brought, specifically what you brought to it in terms of in-depth insight and knowledge about the Tioga County teams.
- 35:25SPEAKER_02: Great stuff.
- 35:26SPEAKER_02: Thank you, Tim, and hope to have you on again.
- 35:28SPEAKER_00: Hey, coach, thanks.

- 36:20SPEAKER_02: It's time to ask Coach Smith.
- 36:23SPEAKER_02: Today's question for Coach Smith is from Eunice.
- 36:27SPEAKER_02: I heard a coach use the term five-hole player.
- 36:30SPEAKER_02: What the heck is he talking about?
- 36:32SPEAKER_02: Well, Eunice, the coach is referring to an offensive lineman who can play all five offensive line positions: left or right tackle, left or right guard, and center.
- 36:44SPEAKER_02: There's also another related term called swing tackle or swing guard.
- 36:48SPEAKER_02: This is a player who can play tackle or guard on either side of the line of scrimmage.
- 36:54SPEAKER_02: Thank you for your question.
- 36:56SPEAKER_02: If you or someone you know would like to learn more about football, don't worry.
- 37:00SPEAKER_02: We've got you covered.
- 37:01SPEAKER_02: Visit cover4.com.
- 37:04SPEAKER_02: And remember, that's a Roman numeral four.
- 37:06SPEAKER_02: Cover4.com.
- 37:08SPEAKER_02: That'll get you there.
- 37:09SPEAKER_02: Under the football courses section, select one of your courses.
- 37:13SPEAKER_02: We have two courses.
- 37:15SPEAKER_02: One is called Football Fundamentals.
- 37:17SPEAKER_02: And that's if you know a little bit or nothing about football, but want a much more thorough understanding of all aspects of football.
- 37:24SPEAKER_02: Football fundamentals is your course.
- 37:27SPEAKER_02: If you already know quite a bit about football and have you know a very good understanding, but want to know more or get into coaching football, beyond fundamentals is a course you should take.
- 37:38SPEAKER_02: Take care.
- 37:40SPEAKER_02: Welcome to the games of the week with Coach Neil.
- 37:44SPEAKER_01: Welcome, Roger.
- 37:45SPEAKER_01: Hey Tim, way good and uh and welcome to you.
- 37:48SPEAKER_01: Good greetings to you.
- 37:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah, some exciting football coming up.
- 37:52SPEAKER_01: We're sure throughout the weekend.
- 37:53SPEAKER_01: How about last weekend, too?
- 37:55SPEAKER_01: Plenty of points put up on the board.
- 37:56SPEAKER_01: That's one of the things we're seeing this year.
- 37:58SPEAKER_01: A lot of offense.
- 38:00SPEAKER_01: If I'm a defensive coach or coordinator, I'll continue to scratch my head, try to figure out how do I stop anybody.
- 38:06SPEAKER_01: But if you were trying to coach against Maine Inwell, that's certainly one thing that'll be focused on this upcoming weekend as the teacher goes against the pupil.
- 38:16SPEAKER_01: Nick Serenti is, of course, the head coach at Chenago Valley.
- 38:20SPEAKER_01: He had a great career as a tough running back for Coach Matt Gallagher and Maine Nwell Spartans.
- 38:26SPEAKER_01: The test really will be for CB this upcoming weekend to shut down a high-flying Maine Enwell offense.
- 38:32SPEAKER_01: They are off to the races again.
- 38:34SPEAKER_01: A huge 88 to 44 win over the JC Wildcats last weekend.
- 38:39SPEAKER_01: Maine Enwell has put up in three games so far, 88 points, 53 points, and 38 more.
- 38:45SPEAKER_01: They're averaging 60 points or just under that per game so far.
- 38:51SPEAKER_01: Nixon Rennie, of course, doesn't like losing because, well, who who does?
- 38:54SPEAKER_01: But certainly growing up as far as his high school career with Maine Enwell, you can't take losing.
- 39:01SPEAKER_01: They never do.
- 39:01SPEAKER_01: So this should be a very interesting showdown.
- 39:04SPEAKER_01: CV last weekend putting a lot of points up to 54-8 winners over Whitney Points.
- 39:10SPEAKER_01: So we'll see what happens this time around.
- 39:12SPEAKER_01: Matt Gallagher against Nick Sarreni and the Warriors against the Spartans.
- 39:17SPEAKER_01: Also, an interesting matchup will be Norwich at Shadengo Forks.
- 39:20SPEAKER_01: Can anybody slow down the Forks?
- 39:23SPEAKER_01: And better yet, can anybody score on them?
- 39:25SPEAKER_01: Chidango Forks, of course, crushed Susquehanna Valley in a battle of state champions last weekend around.
- 39:30SPEAKER_01: And so far, the Forks defense, well, even better than usual.
- 39:34SPEAKER_01: Forks has not given up a point so far in three games, and they've been averaging 43 points per game offensively.
- 39:42SPEAKER_01: So another very tough team in Shenango Forks.
- 39:46SPEAKER_01: Norwich shows they can put some points up too.
- 39:48SPEAKER_01: Going back to week one, they clobbered Windsor 42 to 6.
- 39:52SPEAKER_01: But it should be a good battle on the Forks.
- 39:54SPEAKER_01: Continues to be at the top of everybody's list around the section four area.
- 39:59SPEAKER_01: Also, matching up this weekend, Delhi and Walton.
- 40:02SPEAKER_01: Delhi comes in 2-0.
- 40:04SPEAKER_01: They've shown they can put some points up on the board.
- 40:06SPEAKER_01: Last week out they clobbered On the Honor 44-7.
- 40:10SPEAKER_01: Meanwhile, Walton also can put some points up.
- 40:13SPEAKER_01: Their best game today so far, beating Whitney point 40-32.
- 40:17SPEAKER_01: So that should be a very interesting matchup as well.
- 40:20SPEAKER_01: We go to eight-man football.
- 40:22SPEAKER_01: Boy, some interesting games there.
- 40:23SPEAKER_01: And again, we go back to defense.
- 40:25SPEAKER_01: If you're a defensive genius and guru, you have your work cut out for you there because everybody seems like they're putting up mega points in these games.
- 40:34SPEAKER_01: And we're highlighting Trumansburg against Spencer Van Eten Cantor.
- 40:38SPEAKER_01: Uh going in.
- 40:39SPEAKER_01: Spencer Van Ettencantor 2-0.
- 40:42SPEAKER_01: And Trumansburg showing they can put points up.
- 40:44SPEAKER_01: They crushed Moravia in week two, 54 to 16.
- 40:48SPEAKER_01: Last week, Trumansburg Rock Del Myra, Notre Dame, 44 to 8.
- 40:52SPEAKER_01: So those are some of the big games we're looking at.
- 40:55SPEAKER_01: It should be, as it always is, an entertaining weekend of football around section four and our area.
- 41:01SPEAKER_02: Yeah, great summary, Roger.
- 41:03SPEAKER_02: Appreciate that.
- 41:03SPEAKER_02: One game that's actually going on right now as we record, Walden is playing at Sydney and late in the game, early in the fourth quarter.
- 41:11SPEAKER_02: Sydney's ahead 44 to 12 right now.
- 41:14SPEAKER_02: So that's that's pretty interesting.
- 41:15SPEAKER_02: And then Walton's going to turn around, like you said, play Delhi this weekend.
- 41:19SPEAKER_02: One thing of note uh this may be Spencer Vinett and um Candor's last game because they're not scheduled for a game following week unless they can pick up another game.
- 41:30SPEAKER_02: So their season may be ending this weekend, unfortunately.
- 41:34SPEAKER_02: But again, thank you, Coach Neil.
- 41:35SPEAKER_02: We really appreciate you giving us these uh insight on these interesting matchups over the weekend.
