SpaceXAI Launches Grok 4.5, an 'Opus-Class' Coding Model at Under Half the Price, Built With Newly-Acquired Cursor
Reuters reported on July 8, 2026 that Elon Musk's newly-rebranded SpaceXAI launched Grok 4.5, publicly available July 9. It is the company's first model since the xAI-to-SpaceXAI rebrand and the first trained with data from Cursor, the code editor SpaceX bought for $60 billion. Musk calls it 'Opus-class' but priced at less than half of Anthropic's Opus, and it is aimed at coding and agentic work rather than casual chat.
