- 0:02Speaker 1: Here's your host, Alex Garrett.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Taking you now to what's going on in mar Lago
- 0:10Speaker 2: as the FBI in Miami's Special Agent Jeffrey Velgerie is
- 0:15Speaker 2: announcing what happened yesterday.
- 0:19Speaker 3: We view this as extremely serious and our determined to
- 0:23Speaker 3: provide answers as to what led up to the events
- 0:26Speaker 3: which took place in the last twenty four hours. The
- 0:30Speaker 3: FBI and our partners have been dedicated to investigating the
- 0:34Speaker 3: incident and utilizing all available resources. These efforts have included
- 0:40Speaker 3: our investigative team and the United States Attorney's Office for
- 0:44Speaker 3: the Southern District of Florida, in conjunction with DOJ's National
- 0:48Speaker 3: Security Division, are actively working hand in hand to pursue
- 0:53Speaker 3: and subsequently execute search warrants. Thus far, the warrants include
- 0:59Speaker 3: a video recording device, subjects, cellular devices, a vehicle, and
- 1:05Speaker 3: other electronic devices located at previous known addresses. We are
- 1:12Speaker 3: coordinating with the United States Secret Service to complete numerous
- 1:15Speaker 3: interviews of agents on scene. FBI has deployed several specialty
- 1:20Speaker 3: teams and assets from FBI Headquarters and our Lab division
- 1:25Speaker 3: in Quantico to include evidence and critical incident response personnel.
- 1:32Speaker 3: The Evidence Response Team is collecting and processing multiple evidentiary items.
- 1:37Speaker 3: These range from the rifle, which is an SKS model
- 1:42Speaker 3: with a scope and obliterated serial numbers, to two bags,
- 1:47Speaker 3: the subject's electronics and what appears to be ceramic tiles.
- 1:53Speaker 3: DNA has also been collected from those items, which are
- 1:57Speaker 3: being sent to Quantico for testing. We will also process
- 2:02Speaker 3: the subject's vehicle for evidence. The Cellular Analysis Survey Team,
- 2:08Speaker 3: what we refer to as CAST, conducted thorough analysis of
- 2:12Speaker 3: the subject's cellular device locations. The CAST analysis aligns with
- 2:17Speaker 3: witnesses account of the subject's presence at the scene both
- 2:22Speaker 3: before and around the time of the incident on September fifteenth.
- 2:27Speaker 3: More specifically, we're continuing to conduct analysis and we will
- 2:31Speaker 3: be compiling the subject's movements in the days and months
- 2:35Speaker 3: leading up to September fifteenth. Cellular data shows that the
- 2:40Speaker 3: subject was in the vicinity of the golf course roughly
- 2:43Speaker 3: twelve hours before the engagement with the United States Secret Service.
- 2:48Speaker 3: Our investigative teams conducted a neighborhood canvas in an effort
- 2:51Speaker 3: to collect and obtain relevant video footage.
- 2:56Speaker 1: The subject had an.
- 2:57Speaker 3: Active online presence and we are going through what he
- 3:01Speaker 3: posted and any searches he conducted online. In addition, we're
- 3:06Speaker 3: going through media reports and public statements he made that
- 3:09Speaker 3: he wanted to recruit Afghan soldiers and others to fight
- 3:13Speaker 3: for Ukraine. The FBI has sent multiple requests to companies
- 3:19Speaker 3: for returns on the subject's phone and social media accounts.
- 3:24Speaker 3: We receive several returns and are waiting on additional responses
- 3:27Speaker 3: from other companies as well. Our investigative team is completing
- 3:32Speaker 3: analysis of the returns and actioning leads as needed, and
- 3:37Speaker 3: we anticipate continuing until the FBI knows the full totality
- 3:41Speaker 3: of the subject's social media presence.
- 3:45Speaker 1: By way of his background.
- 3:47Speaker 3: In two thousand and two, as the United States Attorney mentioned,
- 3:50Speaker 3: the subject was charged and convicted in North Carolina for
- 3:53Speaker 3: possession of a weapon of mass destruction. Law enforcement checks
- 3:57Speaker 3: also revealed that from nineteen ninety seven to twenty ten,
- 4:01Speaker 3: the subject had numerous thelony charges.
- 4:04Speaker 1: For stolen goods.
- 4:06Speaker 3: I can also share with you that he was the
- 4:08Speaker 3: subject of a previously closed twenty nineteen tip to the FBI,
- 4:14Speaker 3: where it was alleged he was a sellon in possession
- 4:17Speaker 3: of a firearm, and following up on the tip, the
- 4:21Speaker 3: alleged complaintant interviewed, was interviewed and did not verify. I repeat,
- 4:27Speaker 3: did not verify. Providing the initial information. The FBI passed
- 4:32Speaker 3: that information to local law enforcement in Honolulu on.
- 4:36Speaker 1: Behalf of the FBI.
- 4:38Speaker 3: I would like to thank the Palm Beach County Sheriff's
- 4:40Speaker 3: Office and Martin County Sheriff's Office for their incredible work
- 4:43Speaker 3: and actioning the witnesses information and rapidly apprehending the subject.
- 4:50Speaker 3: I would also like to thank the United States Secret Service,
- 4:53Speaker 3: the United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Florida,
- 4:57Speaker 3: the Department of Justice's National Security, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms,
- 5:02Speaker 3: and Explosives, and our FBI field offices in both Honolulu
- 5:06Speaker 3: and Charlotte, who have been conducting additional law enforcement activity
- 5:10Speaker 3: related to the subject. Your continued partnerships have been invaluable. Oftentimes,
- 5:16Speaker 3: in law enforcement, we tell citizens to be vigilant.
- 5:19Speaker 1: And aware of their surroundings.
- 5:22Speaker 3: Yesterday, a citizen provided remarkable assistance which led to the
- 5:26Speaker 3: arrest of this subject. We appreciate the public's dilligence and
- 5:30Speaker 3: passing potential tips and information regarding the subject and this
- 5:35Speaker 3: incident to the FBI. If you have any information, please
- 5:39Speaker 3: call one eight hundred call FBI or go online to tips.
- 5:44Speaker 3: That's tips dot FBI dot gov. With that, let me
- 5:51Speaker 3: turn it over to the United States Secret Service Acting
- 5:53Speaker 3: Director Ronrow.
- 5:57Speaker 1: Yeah, and everybody.
- 6:00Speaker 4: Afternoon, this country was reminded of the heightened and dynamic
- 6:05Speaker 4: threat environment at the United States Secret Service and its
- 6:07Speaker 4: protectees faced on a daily basis. Immediately following the assassination
- 6:12Speaker 4: attempt to former President Donald J.
- 6:14Speaker 1: Trump on July thirteenth, the.
- 6:16Speaker 4: Secret Service moved to increase assets to an already enhanced
- 6:20Speaker 4: security posture for the former president. In the days it followed,
- 6:24Speaker 4: President Biden made it clear that he wanted the highest
- 6:27Speaker 4: levels of protection for former President Trump and for Vice
- 6:31Speaker 4: President Harris. The Secret Service moved to sustain increases in
- 6:37Speaker 4: assets and the level of protection sought, and those things
- 6:41Speaker 4: were in place.
- 6:42Speaker 1: Yesterday, at approximately.
- 6:44Speaker 4: One thirty pm, former President Trump was playing golf during
- 6:48Speaker 4: an author record movement to the Trump International Golf Course.
- 6:52Speaker 4: A Secret Service advance agent, supporting the front edge of
- 6:55Speaker 4: the agency's layered approach to protection, encountered an individual attempting
- 7:00Speaker 4: to secrete himself in the woodline.
- 7:03Speaker 1: This happened.
- 7:04Speaker 4: The alleged gunman was on the public side of the
- 7:07Speaker 4: fence near the sixth Green. A layered approach of security
- 7:11Speaker 4: is integral to the Secret Services protective methodologies, and it's
- 7:16Speaker 4: also the key to our success. As former President Trump
- 7:20Speaker 4: was moving through the fifth Fairway, across the course and
- 7:24Speaker 4: out of sight of the sixth Green, the agent, who
- 7:26Speaker 4: was visually sweeping the area of the sixth Green, saw
- 7:30Speaker 4: the subject armed with what he perceived to be a
- 7:32Speaker 4: rifle and immediately.
- 7:33Speaker 1: Discharged his firearm.
- 7:36Speaker 4: The subject, who did not have line of sight to
- 7:38Speaker 4: the former president, fled the scene. He did not fire
- 7:42Speaker 4: or get off any shots at our agent. With reports
- 7:47Speaker 4: of gunfire, the former President's close protection detail immediately evacuated
- 7:52Speaker 4: the President to a safe location. The protective methodologies of
- 7:56Speaker 4: the Secret Service were effective yesterday. The present ssident's protective
- 8:00Speaker 4: apparatus allowed for the early identification of the thread and
- 8:04Speaker 4: led to a safe evacuation. The increased assets directed by
- 8:08Speaker 4: the President by President Biden were in place yesterday. These
- 8:12Speaker 4: included the counter sniper team elements, counter surveillance place and
- 8:17Speaker 4: counter surveillance.
- 8:17Speaker 1: Agents on the exterior.
- 8:20Speaker 4: Counter assault teams partnered with local tactical assets from the
- 8:22Speaker 4: Plumage County Sheriff's Office and counter unmanned aerial system elements.
- 8:27Speaker 4: All of these entities were present yesterday. And while all
- 8:32Speaker 4: of these assets were in place, as I said publicly,
- 8:35Speaker 4: we must satisfy the basic requirements of the Secret Services
- 8:39Speaker 4: protective methodologies in partnership with local law enforcement. We did
- 8:44Speaker 4: just that, and the agent's hypervigilance and the detailed swift
- 8:48Speaker 4: action was textbook and I commend them and our partners
- 8:52Speaker 4: for an exemplary response and keeping former President Trump safe.
- 8:56Speaker 4: And I will tell you, having served in local law
- 8:58Speaker 4: enforcement and Palm each county, I can state that I
- 9:03Speaker 4: am tremendously impressed and appreciative for all of the efforts
- 9:07Speaker 4: of the Palmage County Sheriff's Office and Sheriff Snyder with
- 9:10Speaker 4: the Martin County Sheriff's Office. But what was critical to
- 9:13Speaker 4: this was the quick reaction, the response the hypervigilants of
- 9:18Speaker 4: the men and women of the United States Secret Service,
- 9:21Speaker 4: who since July thirteenth have been rising to meet an
- 9:24Speaker 4: unprecedented and hyper dynamic threat environment. And they are rising
- 9:29Speaker 4: to this moment, and I could not be more proud
- 9:32Speaker 4: of them and the way they have executed, not only yesterday,
- 9:35Speaker 4: but what they're doing today and what they are doing tomorrow, and.
- 9:38Speaker 1: What they will always.
- 9:39Speaker 4: Do because it is their duty.
- 9:41Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 9:42Speaker 5: There you have it. We have updates from Ronald Row, Junior.
- 9:49Speaker 2: Acting Director and Jeffrey Sultrie telling us that the suspect
- 9:58Speaker 2: in this assassination attempt on Donald Trump was at the
- 10:01Speaker 2: golf course at twelve hours, circling it probably for twelve hours.
- 10:05Speaker 5: He was three hundred to five hundred yards away from
- 10:09Speaker 5: President Trump.
- 10:12Speaker 2: And thank god the Secret Service did their job and
- 10:17Speaker 2: did that layered approach.
- 10:19Speaker 5: Now, Secretary what Director Roe did.
- 10:23Speaker 2: Not mention, and I'll rated actually from President Trump's page
- 10:28Speaker 2: here because he reposts a lot from true social He
- 10:33Speaker 2: said this, I would like to thank everyone for your
- 10:36Speaker 2: concern and well wishes. Most importantly, I would like to
- 10:39Speaker 2: I want to thank the US Secret Service, Sheriff Rick
- 10:42Speaker 2: Bradshaw in his office of brave and dedicated patriots, and
- 10:45Speaker 2: all of law enforcement for the incredible job done today
- 10:50Speaker 2: at Trump International in keeping me in the as the
- 10:53Speaker 2: forty fifth president the United States and the Republican nominee
- 10:56Speaker 2: in the presidential election safe.
- 10:59Speaker 5: The job was absolutely outstanding.
- 11:03Speaker 2: I am very proud to be an American. Rono Junior.
- 11:08Speaker 5: Then echoed those things to his men and women in
- 11:12Speaker 5: the Secret Service.
- 11:15Speaker 2: And I have to say on the one LI Up
- 11:19Speaker 2: with Alex Carrett podcast.
- 11:22Speaker 5: When will.
- 11:25Speaker 2: There be a sense of safety for even those Trump
- 11:28Speaker 2: supporters who want to go to a simple political rally
- 11:31Speaker 2: like this week at Nasau County.
- 11:39Speaker 5: When can.
- 11:43Speaker 2: Americans who want to support Trump, and just Americans in general,
- 11:47Speaker 2: who believe in the history of the president and that
- 11:52Speaker 2: this is a president, a former president by the way,
- 11:57Speaker 2: realize that the of the Democrats, and more importantly, the
- 12:06Speaker 2: division we're seeing is very real, to the point of
- 12:11Speaker 2: two assassination attempts, one that actually grads President Trump's ear,
- 12:16Speaker 2: this one.
- 12:16Speaker 5: That had the Secret Service not acted.
- 12:18Speaker 2: I don't know what would happen, but when will both
- 12:24Speaker 2: When will the Democrats wake up?
- 12:29Speaker 5: When will those who.
- 12:30Speaker 2: Say President Trump is a threat to democracy wake up
- 12:34Speaker 2: that the biggest threat are those that want to actually
- 12:36Speaker 2: try and kill the president. They are threats to democracy.
- 12:40Speaker 2: Those who have a gun on them and want to
- 12:42Speaker 2: do harm to President Trump, who literally want to arm
- 12:50Speaker 2: themselves from the president, they are the threat to democracy.
- 12:57Speaker 2: So when can we stop all the rhetoric be yes
- 13:01Speaker 2: and really say, hey, you know what, this man, his life.
- 13:05Speaker 5: Is in true a danger.
- 13:10Speaker 2: And we must do everything to assuage those are evil
- 13:15Speaker 2: thoughts in their mind from doing so. And I don't
- 13:20Speaker 2: care what party affiliation. I think the President of the
- 13:23Speaker 2: United States, Joe Biden today speaking out about this is
- 13:28Speaker 2: too little, too late.
- 13:29Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 13:31Speaker 2: Is VP Harris expressing relief that President Trump was.
- 13:35Speaker 5: Unharmed and safe too little too late?
- 13:39Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 13:40Speaker 5: Will it fall on deaf ears? That's the big question.
- 13:43Speaker 5: Is the division in this country too big that even
- 13:46Speaker 5: the left's.
- 13:49Speaker 2: Heroes now, I mean, I hate to say it that way,
- 13:51Speaker 2: but that's how they're making VP Harris out to be.
- 13:54Speaker 5: Will they listen to her?
- 13:59Speaker 2: I mean, this happened five days after the debate, this
- 14:05Speaker 2: instant and I hate to say it, but John Katzimatitis
- 14:11Speaker 2: also had some interesting thoughts. He always asks, are these
- 14:16Speaker 2: gummen being paid by somebody.
- 14:20Speaker 5: Of influence to do these to attempt thees?
- 14:24Speaker 2: And that's a very valid question, John, I really believe so.
- 14:29Speaker 2: But you know what, most of all, most of all,
- 14:34Speaker 2: I wish we just had a unity about us to
- 14:37Speaker 2: where we can both sides condemn these attempts. We have
- 14:42Speaker 2: people on the Democratic side today saying, oh, nothing happened,
- 14:46Speaker 2: it's not a big deal. Really, a gumman five three
- 14:49Speaker 2: hundred to five hundred yards away from President Job about
- 14:51Speaker 2: whole six on his golf of course, is not a
- 14:54Speaker 2: big deal. So we're not unified.
- 15:00Speaker 5: After the unity of nine.
- 15:01Speaker 2: To eleven Memorial, we're still not unified. We haven't learned
- 15:06Speaker 2: the lessons of twenty three years ago, because now it's
- 15:10Speaker 2: about whether we whether some even brush off an attempt.
- 15:19Speaker 2: That's what we're left to right now. This is a
- 15:24Speaker 2: high national security incident yesterday. And as much as we
- 15:29Speaker 2: can laugh in now, and I do think of Caddy
- 15:32Speaker 2: Shack and the Gopher versus Bill Murray, I have to
- 15:34Speaker 2: say that that just reminds me of it, because we
- 15:41Speaker 2: can laugh in a sense, but we should also be
- 15:44Speaker 2: very wary because if this man was circling for twelve
- 15:49Speaker 2: hours undetected, I just wonder how we got there. I
- 15:59Speaker 2: don't know how he got there.
- 16:05Speaker 5: But before but then you got.
- 16:07Speaker 2: That, and then you know, I didn't want to deal
- 16:09Speaker 2: with the debate because it was on nine to eleven.
- 16:12Speaker 2: After a day after that debate, was nine to eleven,
- 16:16Speaker 2: and I just I'm not really had any interest in
- 16:19Speaker 2: going into the debate as much because, let's face it, it
- 16:25Speaker 2: was sort of an evened out matchup. It wasn't exciting
- 16:32Speaker 2: to me.
- 16:32Speaker 5: It just was kind of all over the place. But
- 16:35Speaker 5: this instant.
- 16:38Speaker 2: And the fact that people are brushing it off is
- 16:40Speaker 2: what's pissing me off today on one leg up on
- 16:44Speaker 2: news because then we just say, four or five days ago,
- 16:48Speaker 2: we have to be like we were in September twelfth,
- 16:50Speaker 2: two thousand and one, unified.
- 16:52Speaker 5: Didn't we just talk about this.
- 16:56Speaker 2: Or I missed a boat on something here, because I
- 17:00Speaker 2: feel like we just talked about this, how we had
- 17:07Speaker 2: to be unified, and that includes condemning any attempt on
- 17:11Speaker 2: a former, present, or any political leader.
- 17:21Speaker 5: In America. They must pay.
- 17:23Speaker 2: Every attempt on the life of a political leader in
- 17:26Speaker 2: this country should be condemned.
- 17:29Speaker 5: Not brushed off.
- 17:31Speaker 2: Not well, no ears were harmed, nothing bs like that.
- 17:36Speaker 2: I am so glad the Secret Service is taking this
- 17:38Speaker 2: seriously because I did not handle the aftermath of assassage
- 17:41Speaker 2: attempt one very well. It seems like Ronald Road Junior
- 17:47Speaker 2: has the Department and this as head of Secret Service
- 17:51Speaker 2: together here, which is good, which is very good, and
- 17:59Speaker 2: human credits Biden administration for giving President Trump this extra
- 18:03Speaker 2: layer of protection. But again, how did this person end
- 18:07Speaker 2: up just three hundred yards away from President Trump. That's
- 18:13Speaker 2: what's got to be answered in the next few days here,
- 18:16Speaker 2: in coming weeks.
- 18:18Speaker 5: October is not going to be that fun.
- 18:22Speaker 2: But I want to leave you with this, because I
- 18:24Speaker 2: have done one log up on news in a minute,
- 18:26Speaker 2: I want to leave you with what I witnessed on
- 18:31Speaker 2: nine to eleven outside Firehouse ten or the ten House
- 18:36Speaker 2: as they call it for the FDNY, where they honed
- 18:39Speaker 2: the three hundred and forty three firefighters who gave their
- 18:43Speaker 2: lives to try and save people from the horror, from
- 18:46Speaker 2: the terror. And Phil Mushnik is right those people, those
- 18:50Speaker 2: three thousand innocent Americans were murdered that day. They weren't lost,
- 18:54Speaker 2: they were murdered by terrorism.
- 18:58Speaker 5: So Phil Musnik is right now on that from the
- 19:01Speaker 5: New York Post.
- 19:05Speaker 2: But can we just really have a September twelfth mindset
- 19:09Speaker 2: all through the election and beyond, because if you want
- 19:13Speaker 2: an example of what semb September twelfth felt like, it's
- 19:17Speaker 2: this right here outside the ten House on nine to eleven,
- 20:01Speaker 2: I'm Alex Garrett, and please stay safe if you're going
- 20:04Speaker 2: to Trump's rally, because.
- 20:07Speaker 5: There are wackos out there.
- 20:08Speaker 2: There are those with evil minds that want to do
- 20:11Speaker 2: away with our present, and that makes the ralliers' lives
- 20:16Speaker 2: in jeopardy.
- 20:17Speaker 5: Two.
- 20:18Speaker 2: We've already lost a dedicated dat a dedicated firefighter at
- 20:22Speaker 2: the Trump rally in Pennsylvania. We don't and can't afford
- 20:27Speaker 2: to lose another life do this political Manchurian candidate style tactics.
- 20:41Speaker 5: I don't want to paint the left as.
- 20:42Speaker 2: A left responsible for this, but that deranged people believe they.
- 20:46Speaker 5: Can participate in.
- 20:49Speaker 2: And thank god the Secret Service has stepped up its
- 20:51Speaker 2: game to take out the derangement because this is the
- 20:56Speaker 2: extreme form of Trump arrangement. Systroom trying to take him out.
- 21:05Speaker 2: That's the arrangement, and it's got to be called out,
- 21:08Speaker 2: and I will call it out a one leg up
- 21:09Speaker 2: on News with Alex Carrett. But you just heard from
- 21:14Speaker 2: Jeffrey Soultiree of Miami FBI office and Ronald Roa junior.
- 21:18Speaker 5: The head of Secret Service.
- 21:20Speaker 2: In the interim, he might be named permanent if he
- 21:23Speaker 2: does a hell of a job protecting Donald Trump here.
- 21:25Speaker 2: I'm sure the right will want to have a mom more.
- 21:29Speaker 2: Seems like a guy with an actual law enforcement background,
- 21:31Speaker 2: not someone who's worked at PepsiCo. A PepsiCo warehouse is
- 21:35Speaker 2: not a Trump rally row warehouse.
- 21:38Speaker 5: It's just not.
- 21:41Speaker 2: I digress unity now more than ever, and what we
- 21:47Speaker 2: heard outside of the ten House that needs to be echoed.
- 21:51Speaker 5: God bless America.
- 21:53Speaker 2: God bless President Trump and President Harris, Vice President Harris
- 21:59Speaker 2: and President Biden.
- 22:01Speaker 5: Keep them safe this election cycle. Will you.
- 22:06Speaker 2: All hands in to be on deck for every candidate,
- 22:09Speaker 2: for every political leader, because they are not the ones
- 22:14Speaker 2: pitying the generty.
- 22:15Speaker 5: There's an evil force out there. We cannot let that
- 22:18Speaker 5: evil force win.
- 22:19Speaker 2: And we as Americans must have one leg up by
- 22:23Speaker 2: unifying right. And I pray the Secret Service is as
- 22:26Speaker 2: vigilant as they were on September fifteenth, and I think
- 22:29Speaker 2: Ronald Rowe is going to step in there and say
- 22:31Speaker 2: nope with every political leader and candidate in this country.
- 22:37Speaker 5: I'm Alex Garrett with the one leg Up on.
- 22:39Speaker 2: News breaking news edition press conferences following the second assassination
- 22:44Speaker 2: attempt of President Donald Trump. Please stay with us and
- 22:48Speaker 2: stay safe on the one leg Up network
