- 0:23chickens. Hey everybody.
- 0:28Good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:30So let me ask you a question. How many times do you have a
- 0:34thought, or a feeling on something?
- 0:38And before you actually Express that thought, or that feeling on
- 0:43something, you filter it and something else comes out of your
- 0:47mouth and this can work for the positive or the negative.
- 0:51So in other words, someone says to you, hey, would you mind
- 0:53doing something for me and immediately you're like, oh God.
- 0:59I don't want to do this, I do. I just don't want to do it but
- 1:02you hear your mouth go. Oh yeah, I have no problem with
- 1:06that. What always amazes me about
- 1:09myself when I do that? Is how enthusiastic I seem to
- 1:12be? When I hear the words come out
- 1:14of my mouth. That sure, I'll take care of it
- 1:16for you when I don't want to, or I have resistance to doing, or
- 1:20there's some reason that I feel like I am just not positive
- 1:24that. I want to get involved in
- 1:26something, yet enthusiastically. I have claimed that I would be
- 1:29involved with it. And this year coming up, this is
- 1:33one of these times where I have really made it a point to let
- 1:36myself say. Oh, no, no, we're going to
- 1:39follow the Aunt Irene Rule and be as honest as we possibly can.
- 1:44So if you've never heard me, talk about Aunt Irene, she was
- 1:48my mother's aunt actually, and she was one of my favorite
- 1:52people on the planet. When I was a kid, she had a
- 1:561970s ish, something blue, bright blue, New Volkswagen Bug.
- 2:02She always wore very hippie type clothes and she had a big hat
- 2:07and she had a big bag. And she always had goodies for
- 2:10me in the bag when I was little and I love sleeping at her house
- 2:13because she would let us eat bacon for dinner.
- 2:16And she didn't care if we had cookies and bacon and soda.
- 2:20She was just one of those people that was like, Hey, do whatever
- 2:23you want to do. And she used to tell me when we
- 2:26would ride in the car. And I was always so impressed
- 2:28that she drove a stick shift and she was just Really eccentric
- 2:31and fun. We would drive everywhere and
- 2:35she would say to me, it's always important to just be yourself.
- 2:39Don't let anybody else make you be something.
- 2:42You're not. If you want to be something you
- 2:44be that version just be, you don't let other people shove you
- 2:49down a road, you don't want to go and that always stuck with
- 2:52me. And I swear, that's part of
- 2:54where my stubbornness came from. Was my time of being with Aunt
- 2:58Irene because people would say to her, well, you can't do this,
- 3:01you can't live on your own and you can't.
- 3:02And she's like, yes, I can. Can, and she always did and
- 3:05right up until the very end. She was one of those people.
- 3:09That was just absolutely a force to be reckoned with and she
- 3:13didn't care what people thought and I love that.
- 3:17So, back to the whole purpose of this, Changing who you are in
- 3:23those moments. When you have to answer
- 3:25changing, what you really want to say, I'm not saying that you
- 3:28have to be mean to people, right?
- 3:30We don't want to be mean to people but telling them the
- 3:33truth is really important. So I want to address this
- 3:37because I think sometimes we want to say things but we're
- 3:40afraid of how to say it. So really you can say anything
- 3:44to anyone if you have the right intent and you have the right
- 3:48emotion when you go into it. So if someone Ask you to do
- 3:51something and you really don't want to do it the best way to
- 3:55say it to them. As listen, you know, I get where
- 3:58you are and I really want to help but I know if I tell you
- 4:01that I can take care of this right now.
- 4:03I'm going to feel like I'm overwhelmed with it later and I
- 4:07don't want to do that because I don't want to get irritated with
- 4:09you for something that had nothing to do with you because I
- 4:12accepted it and I should have just told you in the beginning.
- 4:14I couldn't do it. So hopefully we can find a way
- 4:17that you can understand that and I can feel good about it and
- 4:20what R is. Options, telling somebody
- 4:23something like that. In that way is one of the most
- 4:26useful tools I have ever learned about especially with my
- 4:31husband, he will say things to me, and I will be like, in my
- 4:35head, a whirling dervish of craziness, trying to figure out
- 4:39why is he doing? Why did we have to do this?
- 4:41Why is this the case? Baba, baba baba, baba, I'm
- 4:43talking to myself in my head instead of just being able to
- 4:46go. You know what?
- 4:48I love that. You're thinking this way.
- 4:50I love that. Want to do this.
- 4:52But I know this is going to add a lot of stress in this way.
- 4:56What's another way we can do this?
- 4:58How can we handle this before we go into it and say, yes, what's
- 5:01another possibility? What's an, and you present your
- 5:05partner, your person with this challenge, nine times out of
- 5:10ten. If you do it in a calm way,
- 5:13where you're not being ruled by the emotion, that would take
- 5:17over, had that situation been engaged in, you will Be
- 5:21infinitely better but we don't choose to do that.
- 5:24We tend to keep all that crap in our head and it's recirculating
- 5:29recirculating recirculating. And before you know it you're
- 5:33all hyped up about something that is absolutely unnecessary.
- 5:36Had, you just been honest and dealt with the feeling that came
- 5:40up first instead of speaking what you thought was the right
- 5:44answer. So I'm going to challenge you
- 5:46guys as you finish up this year and as you make your plans for
- 5:50next year, And as you go into it because you know this month is
- 5:53All About Us. Cleaning house getting things
- 5:55ready. Making our plans creating the
- 5:58the stuff that we want to make happen in our life but we're
- 6:01going to do it from a place of being peaceful and and on
- 6:05purpose as opposed to just feeling frenetic about doing it.
- 6:09This is part of that process, my friends.
- 6:11So start there, pay attention today with how many times you
- 6:15wish you could say something different and start to think
- 6:17about how you want to do it. And and really put your thinking
- 6:23cap on with the emotion. You're in and talk from that
- 6:26emotion of being calm and peaceful.
- 6:29All right, my friends. I will see you tomorrow morning
- 6:31and I hope you have a very blessed day.
- 6:32Bye. And and really put your thinking
