- 0:00Speaker 1: All start Toyota presents Off the Bench with Jacob Hester
- 0:04Speaker 1: and Matt Flynn.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Okay, here we go.
- 0:06Speaker 1: Well, the players get broken down and science gets denied.
- 0:10Speaker 2: I got to come off the bitch.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Hour two of Off the Bench Live from downtown baton
- 0:14Speaker 1: Rouge starts now.
- 0:23Speaker 3: All right, welcome back in our number two of OTV
- 0:25Speaker 3: live here from Pro Dreams on Burbank inbatrougeprodash Streams dot
- 0:31Speaker 3: Com is the website.
- 0:32Speaker 2: Go check them out today. All right.
- 0:35Speaker 3: So, with LSU having an FCS opponent a lot of
- 0:40Speaker 3: times during weeks like this, we'll kind of go around
- 0:43Speaker 3: the country look at some of the biggest games of
- 0:45Speaker 3: the weekend in the college landscape and see kind of
- 0:48Speaker 3: what's going on and some of the other teams you're
- 0:50Speaker 3: gonna be fighting for for a college football playoff spot.
- 0:53Speaker 3: And so here in this segments, that's what I want
- 0:56Speaker 3: to do. And I'm going to Matt, I'm gonna give
- 0:59Speaker 3: you game in every window. So we do this in
- 1:02Speaker 3: the afternoons. I'm gonna give you the games in the window.
- 1:06Speaker 3: And you tell me, if you only had one TV,
- 1:09Speaker 3: if you could only focus on one you can't quad
- 1:12Speaker 3: box it, which game you would pick and why so
- 1:17Speaker 3: in the early window, So that noon eastern on Saturday.
- 1:20Speaker 3: You've got Texas Tech in Utah, Texas Tech seventeen, Utah sixteen.
- 1:25Speaker 3: You've got Arkansas in Memphis, You've got Syracuse in Clemson,
- 1:29Speaker 3: You've got Maryland in Wisconsin, You've got SMU and TCU.
- 1:35Speaker 2: I believe that.
- 1:36Speaker 3: Rivalry game is something about the skillet, old old skill,
- 1:40Speaker 3: It the old skillet, something like that. Yep, so you
- 1:44Speaker 3: got that as well. Of those games?
- 1:49Speaker 2: Is it the obvious Texas Tech in Utah.
- 1:52Speaker 4: I would probably go to Texas Tech Utah, even though
- 1:55Speaker 4: it's probably gonna be boring. I was really tempted to
- 1:59Speaker 4: say serious cues Clemson because it's kind of fun to
- 2:03Speaker 4: watch this Clemson thing spiral a little bit. I want
- 2:06Speaker 4: to see Dabbo just keep exploding a little bit. Also
- 2:11Speaker 4: like to tun to see if he hurts himself running
- 2:13Speaker 4: down the hill because it's coming.
- 2:16Speaker 2: Yeah, maybe got a prediction.
- 2:18Speaker 4: Why Maybe that's why he was so mad this past week,
- 2:22Speaker 4: because the hill's coming for his knees, I'm telling you.
- 2:26Speaker 4: But yeah, it's it's Texas Tech. I mean it's a
- 2:28Speaker 4: top twenty matchup. Yeah, Texas Tech. I think was my
- 2:32Speaker 4: sleep or two win the or it was my pick
- 2:34Speaker 4: to win the Big Twelve this year. So and I
- 2:38Speaker 4: hadn't watched them at all this year. So if I'm
- 2:40Speaker 4: picking a game, which is this is you know where
- 2:43Speaker 4: we're it's a reach a little bit. This might be
- 2:44Speaker 4: one of those times where I play outside of the
- 2:46Speaker 4: kiddos during that point.
- 2:48Speaker 3: The kids, you got my attention, not because I love you,
- 2:51Speaker 3: but because the slate's bad.
- 2:53Speaker 4: Today's late is not grade at eleven, we can go outside. Yeah,
- 3:02Speaker 4: this past weekend there wasn't a lot of playing outside,
- 3:04Speaker 4: you know what I mean, there was I was locked in.
- 3:06Speaker 4: There are some good games, but this week all your kids.
- 3:10Speaker 2: All right?
- 3:10Speaker 3: And that next windows starting at three pm Eastern time,
- 3:16Speaker 3: so to local here Oregon State and Oregon, Auburn and Oklahoma,
- 3:22Speaker 3: TWU Lane and Old Miss, Michigan and Nebraska.
- 3:26Speaker 2: So you get some good ones there.
- 3:28Speaker 3: Uh and the G six you got James Madison and Liberty,
- 3:31Speaker 3: Oh yeah, that one, you know watching that one, n
- 3:37Speaker 3: C State and Duke out of the ACC Temple and
- 3:40Speaker 3: Georgia Tech.
- 3:41Speaker 2: Again. I don't know.
- 3:43Speaker 3: Actually this is more difficult because you do have Alburn,
- 3:45Speaker 3: Oklahoma two Lane, Old Miss Michigan Nebraska.
- 3:48Speaker 2: I don't really care about the Michigan Nebraska. That's just me.
- 3:51Speaker 2: That's going to be three yards and a cloud of dust. Yeah,
- 3:53Speaker 2: that's your type of guy. That's a sick.
- 3:55Speaker 4: That's an old school football game for sure. The two
- 4:00Speaker 4: games that I yeah, the two Lane Old Miss game.
- 4:02Speaker 4: I'm really intrigued to watch that one because how good
- 4:05Speaker 4: really is TWU Lane. We think that they're probably a
- 4:08Speaker 4: little bit underrated right now, but not being considered in
- 4:10Speaker 4: the top twenty five.
- 4:12Speaker 2: How good is the line went up on that game.
- 4:14Speaker 3: By the way, it was eleven and a half yesterday,
- 4:16Speaker 3: now thirteen and a half in favor of Old Miss.
- 4:18Speaker 2: Interesting. I like it. Let's say, let's Hammer at Louisiana. Yeah,
- 4:22Speaker 2: I m might. I don't know. By a hook is
- 4:25Speaker 2: Old Miss opposer this year?
- 4:28Speaker 4: Fan people are talking, but really it's it's Auburn Oklahoma.
- 4:33Speaker 2: For me.
- 4:34Speaker 4: This is going to be I think, a really good game,
- 4:37Speaker 4: a fun game to watch. You get to see John Mattier,
- 4:40Speaker 4: who I think has a really good shot of winning
- 4:42Speaker 4: the Heisman this year. You get to go see him
- 4:44Speaker 4: perform against an SEC school. And that's what we've been
- 4:47Speaker 4: waiting on right can his game? Can's game translate to
- 4:52Speaker 4: the Southeastern Conference weekend week at and up to this
- 4:55Speaker 4: point we have seen nothing, No kinks in the no
- 4:58Speaker 4: kinks in the armor for him. You get Jackson Arnold
- 5:00Speaker 4: get to go have his opportunity that not many people get.
- 5:04Speaker 2: Yeah, and that is revenge? How is that? How is
- 5:08Speaker 2: that for you?
- 5:08Speaker 3: Like as a quarterback, because you talk about all the time,
- 5:11Speaker 3: the one time you listen like heavy Metal before it
- 5:13Speaker 3: gave you threw your first five passes basically into the stands.
- 5:16Speaker 2: Yeah, them, So like you have to stay like in
- 5:19Speaker 2: the zone.
- 5:20Speaker 3: You got to stay a little woof saw and remember
- 5:22Speaker 3: the game plan and protections and checks and you know,
- 5:26Speaker 3: be on everything you're supposed to be on. But also
- 5:28Speaker 3: like I hate them. I want to hurt them, you know.
- 5:32Speaker 3: I want to go out.
- 5:32Speaker 2: There and in their stadium.
- 5:34Speaker 3: I want to be able to just gladiator style put
- 5:37Speaker 3: my arms out and.
- 5:38Speaker 2: Are you not entertained? Right? That's what I want to
- 5:40Speaker 2: do if I'm Jackson Arnold.
- 5:41Speaker 4: Yeah, if you look at the like the week preparation
- 5:43Speaker 4: leading up to it, like that's where you know you
- 5:46Speaker 4: don't mind staying an extra hour and a half and
- 5:48Speaker 4: watching a little bit extra film.
- 5:49Speaker 2: You don't mind.
- 5:50Speaker 4: You might do about ten fifteen pounds more on the
- 5:52Speaker 4: old bench press on a Tuesday. It's just one of
- 5:56Speaker 4: those things where you don't need any motivation. If you're
- 5:59Speaker 4: Jackson Arnold too, get that extra prep work now. Where
- 6:02Speaker 4: he has to have good support around him is to say, hey, Bud, Hey,
- 6:07Speaker 4: hand on your shoulder.
- 6:08Speaker 2: Hey, it's gonna be all right. Hey, you need to
- 6:11Speaker 2: take a deep breath.
- 6:12Speaker 4: I know you're gonna be mad and play pissed. Be mad,
- 6:15Speaker 4: but be mad in your preparation. That's where you need it.
- 6:19Speaker 4: That's where you're going to win this game. Be man
- 6:21Speaker 4: your preparation, control your emotions because as a quarterback you can't.
- 6:27Speaker 4: You can't pin your ears back. You can't play like
- 6:29Speaker 4: your hair's on fire. It's a different position. You have
- 6:31Speaker 4: to play poised. You have to be in control of
- 6:36Speaker 4: your body, like every time any anybody that's doing things
- 6:39Speaker 4: where you find motor skills. Right, So golfers, hitters, pitchers, throwers, kickers,
- 6:45Speaker 4: you have to be Yeah, you got to be able
- 6:47Speaker 4: to take you into the nose. You don't get them out,
- 6:49Speaker 4: you don't out to them, that's right. You can't just
- 6:52Speaker 4: go bang your head against the wall.
- 6:54Speaker 3: You can't go and schmid it and get your helmet
- 6:56Speaker 3: and bang your hand on your helmet, your pointing as.
- 6:58Speaker 2: You come out for the start lineup announcements.
- 7:01Speaker 4: You take that energy and you beat them, and you
- 7:03Speaker 4: put that energy into your preparation.
- 7:05Speaker 2: And but at the end of the day, if.
- 7:10Speaker 4: You're running down the sideline and you scramble a little bit,
- 7:12Speaker 4: you might look for contact every now and then, all right,
- 7:15Speaker 4: you might celebrate and you might give such a hard
- 7:17Speaker 4: fist pump and a fist pump after you score your
- 7:20Speaker 4: first touchdown your arm pops out of socket. Like it's
- 7:23Speaker 4: gonna be exciting, but it's going to be fun to watch. Man,
- 7:25Speaker 4: I'm really excited about that game.
- 7:27Speaker 3: Man too, watch a MA tier quarterback. Yeah, they it's
- 7:30Speaker 3: a good quarterback matchup. I think it's two teams that
- 7:32Speaker 3: had a very mucky game last year, but it was
- 7:36Speaker 3: a good game.
- 7:37Speaker 2: You know. It's like, does either team want to win
- 7:39Speaker 2: this game? Oh? Okay, Okay, they do? Okay, cool, because
- 7:42Speaker 2: it looked like for a while they didn't. Someone probably
- 7:44Speaker 2: has to at some point.
- 7:45Speaker 3: Yeah, So Oklahoma end up making a play at the end.
- 7:48Speaker 3: But I think this version is going to be much better.
- 7:50Speaker 3: I am very intrigued by the quarterback matchup.
- 7:52Speaker 2: All right.
- 7:53Speaker 3: Before we go to the next viewing window, want to
- 7:55Speaker 3: remind you about our friends over at.
- 7:56Speaker 2: Gulf Coast Office Products.
- 7:58Speaker 3: Gcop net, and we tell you all the time it
- 8:01Speaker 3: is not just about documents anymore.
- 8:03Speaker 2: It's about managing and hosting.
- 8:04Speaker 3: The information your company needs to grow and thrive in
- 8:07Speaker 3: the years ahead. In New Orleans, in Baton Rouge, in Manville,
- 8:10Speaker 3: in Lafayette, throughout this region, they're gonna be able to
- 8:14Speaker 3: help you. And the best part about it when you
- 8:17Speaker 3: get in contact with them when you have an issue,
- 8:19Speaker 3: they're always going to answer, and you're gonna talk to
- 8:21Speaker 3: a human being who's gonna be able to help you.
- 8:23Speaker 3: Right then, right there, so printers the interactive whiteboard that
- 8:28Speaker 3: we're lucky enough to have one in our office, they
- 8:30Speaker 3: can help you out. Gcop net dot com is the website.
- 8:33Speaker 3: All right, Moving on to the next window. Here in
- 8:36Speaker 3: the college football slate, you're.
- 8:42Speaker 2: Gonna name it.
- 8:43Speaker 4: I'm gonna sound like a front runner cause I'm just
- 8:44Speaker 4: gonna pick all the big games.
- 8:45Speaker 2: I know, I know. All right, let's start it.
- 8:47Speaker 3: Let's start at six pm Eastern time five pm local.
- 8:49Speaker 3: You've got West Virginia and Kansas. A little bit later on,
- 8:53Speaker 3: you've got South Carolina at Missouri. We got Boise State
- 8:58Speaker 3: at air Force. You've got Florida at Miami. You've got
- 9:03Speaker 3: Illinois at Indiana. That's a ranked on rank matchup as well.
- 9:08Speaker 3: Illinois right now the number nine team in the country,
- 9:10Speaker 3: Indiana number nineteen. You've got the Apple cut between Washington
- 9:14Speaker 3: and Wazoo.
- 9:16Speaker 2: That game is going to.
- 9:17Speaker 3: Be a yeah, six thirty kickoff time, so it falls
- 9:22Speaker 3: into this window. You've got Arizona State and Baylor as well.
- 9:27Speaker 3: That one's got a little salt to it, little juice
- 9:29Speaker 3: to one of those games.
- 9:32Speaker 2: You know me, just like we describe I'm going to
- 9:34Speaker 2: Illinois Indiana. Yeah, you're absolute coach teams.
- 9:39Speaker 3: There's going to be three players at minimum that still
- 9:42Speaker 3: have a bullhorn face mask in that game.
- 9:45Speaker 2: So no posers in that game. Have you seen the
- 9:47Speaker 2: face mask that there are people are wearing now?
- 9:50Speaker 4: I think I saw Michaeh. Parson's won last week. It
- 9:52Speaker 4: doesn't even have a top to it. It's just bolted outside.
- 9:55Speaker 2: What was that? I don't know. I don't like it
- 9:57Speaker 2: doesn't have a bullhorn. Yeap. I don't like it. I
- 9:59Speaker 2: don't like that at it all. They're out alpha enough. No,
- 10:02Speaker 2: they're ugly. It's like the old school.
- 10:04Speaker 4: In the first Revolutions came out the Revo speeds like
- 10:09Speaker 4: and Peyton it was the only one.
- 10:12Speaker 3: Because before that he had like the longest face mask
- 10:16Speaker 3: known to mand It was like twenty four inches long.
- 10:20Speaker 2: They went to that revolution. Baby, that thing was so ugly.
- 10:23Speaker 3: Yeah, I had a revolution the first year they came
- 10:25Speaker 3: out in high school.
- 10:26Speaker 2: Mine was more for head size than look. Yeah, I
- 10:29Speaker 2: mean because you're I got a bucket head. That's probably
- 10:32Speaker 2: what Peyton's very He might outperform both of us at
- 10:36Speaker 2: had Sie.
- 10:37Speaker 3: He definitely has the red dot and you and I
- 10:39Speaker 3: forehead for sure, You and I both had the red.
- 10:41Speaker 2: Dot on her forehead. He's got a square yeah, not
- 10:45Speaker 2: a dot all right.
- 10:46Speaker 4: So yeah, the that's the that's the rank matchup. The
- 10:49Speaker 4: Illinois at Indiana. Two really good teams. That probably should
- 10:53Speaker 4: have been the game day location, but I think they
- 10:55Speaker 4: went to Indiana last last year, so probably not gonna
- 10:59Speaker 4: do that twice.
- 10:59Speaker 2: So that is the game. Uh, two really well coached teams.
- 11:02Speaker 4: I can't sit here and like lie to the listeners
- 11:06Speaker 4: and say I've been like dialed in to their offensive
- 11:08Speaker 4: philosophies and what their defensive stats are anything. But look,
- 11:13Speaker 4: it's a ranked matchup, it's at six thirty, it's at
- 11:15Speaker 4: prime time. We're all gonna be locked in. No, we're
- 11:20Speaker 4: not gonna be locked in L she's playing.
- 11:21Speaker 2: Uh uh you just tell the people you're not gonna
- 11:24Speaker 2: be watching L s U.
- 11:26Speaker 4: Nope, I'll be watching them. I'll probably be in the
- 11:28Speaker 4: stadium too. We'll see Arizona State. It must be a
- 11:32Speaker 4: parking pass game I have.
- 11:34Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what it is.
- 11:36Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't have a burg Mess yet. I need
- 11:38Speaker 4: to get one of those as Gonna state Baylor though.
- 11:41Speaker 4: I'll be into that one.
- 11:42Speaker 2: YEA be interested to see that one because I'm I'm
- 11:45Speaker 2: kind of a Baylor guy. Uh. South Carolina Missouri. Uh,
- 11:49Speaker 2: I see that.
- 11:49Speaker 3: You've seen You've seen the line on that thing. It
- 11:52Speaker 3: was eleven and a half Missouri. It's now down to
- 11:54Speaker 3: nine and a half. So Lenora Sellers I believe was
- 11:57Speaker 3: a concussion last week. Maybe if he's trending like he's
- 12:04Speaker 3: going to play, maybe that's why you have some movement
- 12:06Speaker 3: there in the line. But how about Missouri nine and
- 12:08Speaker 3: a half point favorite right now against South Carolina. Look,
- 12:14Speaker 3: they're twenty third in the country now, they still don't
- 12:16Speaker 3: go on the road for three more games. They got
- 12:19Speaker 3: South Carolina, they've got UMass, and they've got Alabama before
- 12:23Speaker 3: they go on the road to take on the Auburn Tigers.
- 12:27Speaker 2: Like I know, they hadn't you know, played anybody.
- 12:29Speaker 3: I get it, Central Arkansas, Kansas and Louisiana Lafayette. I
- 12:33Speaker 3: understand that. But they're in a great spot. They're in
- 12:37Speaker 3: a bo Rabula is playing awesome. He's got seven hundred
- 12:41Speaker 3: and ninety one passing yards already, seven tutters through the air.
- 12:45Speaker 3: Matt Hardy coming over from Louisiana Monroe four hundred and
- 12:49Speaker 3: sixty two yards already on the ground in five touchdowns, just.
- 12:54Speaker 4: Saying, yeah, I'm looking at these games. So I'm looking
- 12:57Speaker 4: kind of tightly. They're at the night games. The lines
- 13:01Speaker 4: are not very good. Like the closest line is minus
- 13:03Speaker 4: two and a half. That's so Baylor's a two and
- 13:05Speaker 4: a half point favorite over areas in the state. The
- 13:06Speaker 4: rest of the the rest of the lines I see Besides,
- 13:08Speaker 4: like some of the smaller games, no one's really going
- 13:10Speaker 4: to care about unless that's your alma mater.
- 13:14Speaker 3: Most of these games are seven in Southeastern again, Telusu.
- 13:18Speaker 2: Yeah, he's gonna be locked in. He told us yesterday.
- 13:20Speaker 2: Everybody that h he's cheering for Southeastern, Yeah, to win
- 13:23Speaker 2: the game. He's picking them. He should to some the
- 13:27Speaker 2: monits where we went to school. I agree, I mean,
- 13:29Speaker 2: I don't disagree. There he said line up like twelve
- 13:32Speaker 2: times yesterday. It's true. What a poser, Such a poser.
- 13:38Speaker 4: But yeah, most of those games in the night not
- 13:40Speaker 4: not great. So there are some really good games on Saturday.
- 13:43Speaker 4: I'm intrigued by him, but like.
- 13:44Speaker 3: There's like five, there's like five good games in the
- 13:46Speaker 3: rest is garbage.
- 13:48Speaker 2: So this segment was it was. It was tough.
- 13:50Speaker 4: This was a tough segment to get through because there
- 13:52Speaker 4: was pretty much three three games that.
- 13:53Speaker 2: I would actually watch.
- 13:54Speaker 4: Yeah, like I said, for the eleven o'clock games, I'm
- 13:57Speaker 4: I'm playing outside.
- 13:58Speaker 2: Yeah, we're going to the swing set. We're playing cats.
- 14:02Speaker 3: Waitnute, you never want to play at noon on a Saturday.
- 14:05Speaker 2: What's going on? Dad? You? Okay?
- 14:09Speaker 3: It's like, yeah, son, Southern miss is playing Old Dominion.
- 14:15Speaker 2: That's a real game. But directional school. Yeah to school
- 14:20Speaker 2: you m and as we say here often.
- 14:23Speaker 4: But there are some the good games are good. Yeah,
- 14:25Speaker 4: I'm excited, but I really am looking forward to the Auburn.
- 14:27Speaker 3: There's some like real games, like with playoff implications. I
- 14:30Speaker 3: would throw that into that category. I throw too Lane
- 14:32Speaker 3: Old Miss into that category. It's certainly with the Indiana,
- 14:35Speaker 3: Illinois into that category. Uh, Arizona State, Baylor, you know,
- 14:39Speaker 3: for different reasons, like for Indiana and Illinois. It's like,
- 14:42Speaker 3: I think the Big Ten is probably going to get
- 14:43Speaker 3: four teams in the Collge football playoff.
- 14:45Speaker 2: The winner of this might be the fourth team. I
- 14:47Speaker 2: like to get your venue too.
- 14:48Speaker 4: When we come back for break, if you think Notre
- 14:50Speaker 4: Dame mathematically still has a shot.

- 18:08Speaker 3: All right, So we got some decent games in the
- 18:12Speaker 3: Southeastern Conference. It's starting to take its shape a little bit.
- 18:16Speaker 3: You've had a game here, a game there. Some have had,
- 18:20Speaker 3: you know, the opportunity to play like Old Miss play Kentucky.
- 18:23Speaker 2: Tucky played Old Miss early in the season.
- 18:25Speaker 3: But like you've gotten at least you know, an idea
- 18:29Speaker 3: of what's going on in the SEC. You get a
- 18:31Speaker 3: better idea certainly this week, But from what you've seen, sir,
- 18:35Speaker 3: like where you at right now with maybe the top
- 18:38Speaker 3: packing order, because that was a lot of the question
- 18:41Speaker 3: that I've been getting over on off campus.
- 18:43Speaker 2: It's like, Okay, well we really have a clear favorite right.
- 18:47Speaker 3: Now in the SEC. I actually I don't think you
- 18:49Speaker 3: have a clear favorite. In years past, you certainly have
- 18:52Speaker 3: had that, but I think there's like a group of
- 18:54Speaker 3: teams now. I don't know how many teams you're putting
- 18:56Speaker 3: in that category that still have championship to them.
- 19:02Speaker 4: Yes, I'm probably if I'm having to rank power rankings
- 19:07Speaker 4: in the SEC, I mean, how can you not start
- 19:10Speaker 4: with Georgia.
- 19:11Speaker 2: Probably the way.
- 19:14Speaker 4: Gunner Stockton's playing right now, playing pretty well. We kind
- 19:17Speaker 4: of we talked a lot about Gunner coming into the season.
- 19:19Speaker 4: We were a little well on the fence with him,
- 19:22Speaker 4: a little bit questionable on how he's gonna play. Yes,
- 19:25Speaker 4: very talented kid, a freshman last year, having to come
- 19:28Speaker 4: into the tough situation and did some really nice things,
- 19:32Speaker 4: but it kind of looked like it was some of
- 19:34Speaker 4: the nice things he did was a little bit on accident,
- 19:36Speaker 4: like he scrambled and athletically was able to get out
- 19:38Speaker 4: of the pocket, and he made some plays that weren't
- 19:43Speaker 4: you know, made some really good plays, but it wasn't
- 19:45Speaker 4: like working the offense. We were going through my first second,
- 19:48Speaker 4: third read then hitting the check down. But we have
- 19:51Speaker 4: to remember that he's he's a young kid. He's a
- 19:53Speaker 4: young quarterback, and I think he's starting to kind of
- 19:56Speaker 4: get into a little bit more of a rhythm. They
- 19:58Speaker 4: get the big win, and you know it's again you
- 20:01Speaker 4: can't let the hairline fool you. He's still a young kid,
- 20:04Speaker 4: and he is very talented, and he's going to and
- 20:07Speaker 4: he's starting to play with that offense. So I think
- 20:10Speaker 4: they're going to be dangerous. Obviously, George is always going
- 20:12Speaker 4: to be a tough out. Kirby Smart is is the man.
- 20:18Speaker 4: Are we ready to I mean, I'm always going to
- 20:21Speaker 4: say L s U L S She's like.
- 20:22Speaker 2: Yeah, else she's the highest ranked team.
- 20:25Speaker 4: Yeah, of course in the A people and they see
- 20:28Speaker 4: and they should be.
- 20:30Speaker 2: Offensively.
- 20:31Speaker 4: We know whe're at But LSU is always going to
- 20:33Speaker 4: be my chalk answer. It's still who I'm picking. But
- 20:36Speaker 4: I'm trying to kind of talk are we ready to
- 20:38Speaker 4: start talking about A and M a little bit?
- 20:39Speaker 3: I think so that was gonna be. That's kind of
- 20:42Speaker 3: one of the main reasons why I wanted to talk
- 20:43Speaker 3: about this and what a.
- 20:44Speaker 2: Great what a great win, great win.
- 20:47Speaker 4: And you know I was you know, I'm not a
- 20:49Speaker 4: Texas A and M guy, but I was cheering for
- 20:51Speaker 4: him against Notre Dame because I'm so anti Notre Dame.
- 20:55Speaker 2: For whoever you're anti independent, that's right.
- 20:58Speaker 4: If you are an enemy of my enemy, you're kind
- 21:02Speaker 4: of my friend a little bit, you know what I mean.
- 21:04Speaker 4: So I was a Marcel Reed playing and play very well,
- 21:07Speaker 4: so athletically, we know where he is.
- 21:10Speaker 2: Yeah, we know how good he can be. We saw
- 21:12Speaker 2: it firsthand last year.
- 21:14Speaker 4: Can he become a pocket passing quarterback consistently right? Can
- 21:19Speaker 4: he get through his progressions? Can he re get a
- 21:21Speaker 4: good pre snap breed a post stap Reed. Well, he's
- 21:25Speaker 4: kind of proving that he can. So far, so far,
- 21:27Speaker 4: so good. I mean, Rubber will meet the road plenty
- 21:30Speaker 4: of times this season in the SEC play. But to
- 21:35Speaker 4: this point, I don't have it pulled up right now.
- 21:37Speaker 4: I had it pulled up yesterday a really good status.
- 21:39Speaker 4: I think he had something like eight eight or nine
- 21:42Speaker 4: touchdowns to one interception, really really high QB rating really
- 21:46Speaker 4: really high completion percentage and he is starting to trend
- 21:51Speaker 4: and show at least on the Vegas stats for in
- 21:54Speaker 4: the Heisman odds.
- 21:55Speaker 3: Yeah, that look does a big game for them, and
- 21:58Speaker 3: they get a chance to take a week off before
- 22:02Speaker 3: they host the Auburn Tigers A and M does so
- 22:04Speaker 3: it's going to be obviously a big contest there, a
- 22:07Speaker 3: big challenge for them, but they do have a bye week.
- 22:10Speaker 3: You've got not this week, but next Like that's really
- 22:13Speaker 3: when you start to see maybe who can separate themselves.
- 22:16Speaker 3: Like in the SEC, you've got Notre Dame in Arkansas,
- 22:21Speaker 3: lsu Ole, miss alburn in Texas, A and M Tennessee,
- 22:25Speaker 3: Mississippi State, Alabama and Georgia.
- 22:29Speaker 2: So not this week but next week.
- 22:31Speaker 3: That really because like is Alabama back into that conversation?
- 22:35Speaker 3: Is ty Simpson who's playing incredibly well right now, highest
- 22:38Speaker 3: quarterback rating in the SEC. Can they go on the road,
- 22:42Speaker 3: Can they go to Athens and make any noise and
- 22:45Speaker 3: kind of quiet some of that stuff that you know
- 22:47Speaker 3: the Bama is burning stuff that was talked about in
- 22:50Speaker 3: week number one.
- 22:50Speaker 4: Yeah, it'll be Ty Simpson is playing well even though
- 22:53Speaker 4: they have the big opening week loss to Florida State.
- 22:57Speaker 4: If anybody that we're talking to knows anything about opening
- 23:00Speaker 4: week losses, it would be us.
- 23:01Speaker 2: And we know that you can bounce back. We know
- 23:04Speaker 2: that you can play well.
- 23:05Speaker 4: So no season is dead after an opening season loss.
- 23:09Speaker 4: So let's give let's give everyone the benefit of the doubt.
- 23:12Speaker 4: From that, I'm looking forward to a good game there.
- 23:17Speaker 4: Playing Georgia on the road is always going to be tough,
- 23:19Speaker 4: especially with if he contend, if Gunner Stockton continues to
- 23:22Speaker 4: kind of increase his production levels and increase the way
- 23:26Speaker 4: he can play within a system.
- 23:27Speaker 2: So yeah, looking forward to that.
- 23:29Speaker 4: I want to look too far ahead of this weekend,
- 23:31Speaker 4: of course, but certainly, just like you said, I have
- 23:34Speaker 4: at Notre Dame playing a decent amount of teams kind
- 23:37Speaker 4: of shocking to me.
- 23:39Speaker 2: Well, it was a conference though you bumped.
- 23:41Speaker 3: It was the reason why, like every year you have
- 23:43Speaker 3: a preseason top ten team that finishes outside the top
- 23:45Speaker 3: twenty five. It's almost like an absolute So I was like, well,
- 23:48Speaker 3: I'm gonna go a Notre Dame because of their first
- 23:50Speaker 3: three games that they're going to play really like the
- 23:53Speaker 3: first three tough games.
- 23:54Speaker 2: If they lose to Miami and A and M, which
- 23:56Speaker 2: they did.
- 23:57Speaker 3: It's like, all right, he lose one more. Yep, you
- 24:00Speaker 3: oh the top twenty five and so and that haven't
- 24:03Speaker 3: been bad losses. They've been one play away really in
- 24:06Speaker 3: both games. But yeah, Arkansas is good enough to beat
- 24:08Speaker 3: Notre Dame next week.
- 24:09Speaker 2: I will be yelling, Sue, oh yeah, I'll be gone
- 24:13Speaker 2: the Hogs. Yep, we call on the Hogs next week. Game.
- 24:16Speaker 4: Really hate to Notre Dame. I really don't like them.
- 24:19Speaker 4: You know why you've said. It's not that I don't
- 24:21Speaker 4: like their traditions. I love their traditions. I love their uniforms.
- 24:24Speaker 4: I love the gold helmet, I love when they go
- 24:26Speaker 4: to the green. I love everything that about them. I
- 24:29Speaker 4: don't respect them. That's the thing that's the difference maker.
- 24:32Speaker 4: I don't respect you, Notre Dame. And I know that
- 24:34Speaker 4: means that's going to shake your world when you hear that.
- 24:36Speaker 4: I said that for sure, that means a lot. But
- 24:39Speaker 4: I don't respect you because you're not in a conference
- 24:41Speaker 4: and you're a bunch of whims. Yes, freaking turns.
- 24:44Speaker 3: All right with Beeace and love of course, all right,
- 24:47Speaker 3: we'll take it break pretty good when we come back.
- 24:49Speaker 3: Former LSU Pitcher. Will Helmers is going to join us
- 24:52Speaker 3: here at Pro Dreams. We'll have that for you when
- 24:54Speaker 3: we jump back on OTB off the bench. All right,

- 25:33Speaker 4: but I guess South Louisiana our power went out yesterday
- 25:36Speaker 4: because a little windstorm, a little quick right. You never
- 25:38Speaker 4: know what's going to happen with the weather, but always

- 26:27Speaker 4: I wish well.
- 26:30Speaker 3: You know, you just got to be on top of it.
- 26:31Speaker 3: Her dead air and I said, hey, I'm just gonna
- 26:33Speaker 3: shoot my shot. It turns out my shot was a
- 26:35Speaker 3: little too early. That's all right though.
- 26:37Speaker 2: It's okay. We're here pro Dreams pro Dash Dreams dot com.
- 26:40Speaker 3: And you see Will Helmer's former LSU pitcher has joined
- 26:43Speaker 3: the show now, just like us, part of the g
- 26:46Speaker 3: team over their Gordon mccurrn.
- 26:48Speaker 2: So what's up man? How we doing? Not a whole lot, man,
- 26:50Speaker 2: Just thank you guys for having me. I expected you
- 26:53Speaker 2: to bring some jello shots from Omaha. Oh man. I
- 26:56Speaker 2: still got plenty of stash at the house.
- 26:58Speaker 5: They shipped about four hundred them down that I didn't finish.
- 27:01Speaker 2: But here I am still alive. Oh man. It was
- 27:04Speaker 2: a great content.
- 27:05Speaker 3: And I know you're doing a lot of stuff there
- 27:07Speaker 3: with Gordon Louisiana loaded, you got that hat on there,
- 27:10Speaker 3: but man, the ultimate heype man there in Omaha, you
- 27:13Speaker 3: had to be like by the time you got done
- 27:16Speaker 3: with Omaha, I know you had to be like, Okay,
- 27:18Speaker 3: that was a great experience, but I need like a
- 27:20Speaker 3: four day nap.
- 27:21Speaker 5: Yeah, I got a few days off after that one,
- 27:23Speaker 5: but that was after like day four. I was like struggling.
- 27:25Speaker 2: Man. Yeah, you know, doing eight hundred and eighty eight
- 27:27Speaker 2: shots today, but you can still do what are you
- 27:29Speaker 2: twenty five twenty not even man twenty appreciate that twenty
- 27:32Speaker 2: three twenty five? The world is your O.
- 27:36Speaker 4: Say, I don't need you complained, you complain about naps
- 27:39Speaker 4: or anything. You send us old guys to Omaha and
- 27:42Speaker 4: do a couple of jealous shots, like after day one,
- 27:45Speaker 4: we need like we need to rest that.
- 27:46Speaker 5: How many could you do in a day? You think
- 27:48Speaker 5: jellous shots, jello shots.
- 27:50Speaker 2: I can put them down. I can put it down.
- 27:52Speaker 3: So you just talked me about your old then you
- 27:54Speaker 3: got challenge and the old athlete came out.
- 27:56Speaker 4: It was like you need it, But it's like the
- 27:58Speaker 4: first day of vacation. It's like you go really hard,
- 28:01Speaker 4: but then you got to have that rest day. For us,
- 28:03Speaker 4: you don't need a rest day. You're twenty three, so yeah,
- 28:06Speaker 4: noes today is allowed. That's right, no rest days. But
- 28:08Speaker 4: uh yeah, it's pretty good. So let me ask you
- 28:11Speaker 4: this was it. So now we're we're in the midst
- 28:13Speaker 4: of the football season right now. So as a former athlete, now,
- 28:18Speaker 4: how do you take in like the game to experience?
- 28:21Speaker 2: Are you?
- 28:22Speaker 4: You kind of try to every day in Baton Rouge
- 28:24Speaker 4: relive a little bit of the Omaha experience. You go
- 28:26Speaker 4: out there and you party a little bit, you tailgate.
- 28:28Speaker 2: I mean, that's what it's all about. You know. Even
- 28:30Speaker 2: when I was at LSU playing baseball, we did that.
- 28:33Speaker 5: Yeah that's okay, Saturday morning and then you roll out
- 28:37Speaker 5: to the tailgates and you let it rip. And so
- 28:39Speaker 5: I'm still doing that, you know, still doing that, and
- 28:43Speaker 5: now I'm just kind of video on it video you're
- 28:46Speaker 5: letting looking at the rest of the Louisiana se for
- 28:48Speaker 5: you know, North South and everybody outside of Louisiana.
- 28:50Speaker 2: Awesome, you know.
- 28:51Speaker 5: So it's been it's been a lot of fun just
- 28:52Speaker 5: getting that that new experience even outside of just LSU
- 28:55Speaker 5: athletics and being an LSU athlete.
- 28:58Speaker 2: You know, it's it's pretty unique.
- 29:00Speaker 3: Well, speaking of new experiences, court to Table is also
- 29:03Speaker 3: right down the street here from where we're at pickleball.
- 29:07Speaker 3: Look like a new experience for you, and it turns
- 29:10Speaker 3: out that maybe you know, you know, being an athlete
- 29:13Speaker 3: and being a pickleball athlete might be a little different.
- 29:15Speaker 5: I mean a little different. I'm not the lateral guy.
- 29:19Speaker 5: I prefer to go down the mountain your north south.
- 29:21Speaker 5: I'm north south. Okay, you're a full ball I mean
- 29:23Speaker 5: Court to Table. It's an awesome location. They did it upright,
- 29:27Speaker 5: and all the investors over there and what they did
- 29:30Speaker 5: just an outstanding place to you know, host a venue
- 29:32Speaker 5: or you know, go eat lunch or have a whatever.
- 29:35Speaker 2: It's an awesome place. Yeh.
- 29:36Speaker 4: So I've kind of told I've kind of heard that
- 29:37Speaker 4: I need to get there. I need to bring the
- 29:38Speaker 4: kids there because it's like, you know, as as parents
- 29:41Speaker 4: of younger kids, like it's, uh, it's priceless when you
- 29:45Speaker 4: can find a place where you can eat and kind
- 29:47Speaker 4: of and like let them just kind of go room,
- 29:51Speaker 4: let them room, and like sometimes you go to restaurants
- 29:53Speaker 4: with a group of people and you let them roam
- 29:54Speaker 4: in places you probably shouldn't let them run. Like the
- 29:56Speaker 4: restaurant's probably not that cool with it, but they don't
- 29:58Speaker 4: say anything to you. You got to make but sometimes
- 30:00Speaker 4: they do say something to you. You know who you are. Sorry, Okay,
- 30:04Speaker 4: take it easy now, relaxed, But like that's pretty valuable.
- 30:07Speaker 4: So like I've heard that, I got to go there
- 30:08Speaker 4: and like that. The food's actually like pretty pretty great,
- 30:11Speaker 4: Like it's not.
- 30:12Speaker 2: Like what you would expect from the menus. It's a
- 30:15Speaker 2: stud Why do we.
- 30:16Speaker 3: Why do we deflect from how the pickleball contest went
- 30:19Speaker 3: when he played a pro pickleballer.
- 30:21Speaker 2: You're right, we were trying to get the school to.
- 30:23Speaker 5: Talk about food much rather talk about that I am
- 30:26Speaker 5: at pickleball.
- 30:27Speaker 2: But you'll get to score in second.
- 30:30Speaker 3: I mean you talked about being a pickleballer a little
- 30:33Speaker 3: bit flint. I mean, look like three times, baseball players
- 30:36Speaker 3: and quarterbacks are always good at ping pong, Like there's
- 30:39Speaker 3: a ping pong table everywhere that you go, quarterbacks, baseball player,
- 30:42Speaker 3: So I just thought maybe it would translate to the
- 30:44Speaker 3: pickleball court.
- 30:45Speaker 2: I mean it wasn't horrible, but it was pretty bad
- 30:49Speaker 2: close enough. They want to go back.
- 30:52Speaker 4: There's so many people playing pickleball now, like I'm sure
- 30:55Speaker 4: like there's a pretty big, uh skilled gap between the
- 31:00Speaker 4: See somebody bring their own paddle.
- 31:02Speaker 3: Just yeah, just get out of their hole. Yea, you
- 31:04Speaker 3: don't need to be there. You're not about that life
- 31:07Speaker 3: and that's okay, but they are.
- 31:09Speaker 2: They are and they know that.
- 31:12Speaker 3: So your your college career, obviously, by the end of
- 31:15Speaker 3: your college career, like you al was in full force.
- 31:18Speaker 2: So when you first got to LSU, it hadn't even Okay,
- 31:20Speaker 2: that's what I thought.
- 31:21Speaker 5: Yeah, So it started my sophomore year, I guess kind
- 31:24Speaker 5: of in the middle, I guess the end of day.
- 31:25Speaker 3: What was it like being like in school when you
- 31:27Speaker 3: didn't have it and then all of a sudden you
- 31:29Speaker 3: have it and it probably starts slow a little bit,
- 31:30Speaker 3: but by the end.
- 31:31Speaker 5: Of your career, I mean, it was full force. Yeah,
- 31:34Speaker 5: And so you know, to me, like just being at
- 31:36Speaker 5: LSU was enough for me. And I was a local
- 31:38Speaker 5: kid from New Orleans and I just wanted to be
- 31:40Speaker 5: at LSU. So it wasn't ever a big deal to
- 31:43Speaker 5: get paid or whatever, but to see it kind of
- 31:45Speaker 5: take shape into what it is now and what all
- 31:48Speaker 5: these you know, guys like Gordon are doing with you know,
- 31:50Speaker 5: I think we have thirteen football athletes and two cheerleaders
- 31:53Speaker 5: and you know, just it's taking so much shape to
- 31:57Speaker 5: what football and college sports is today. It's it's good,
- 32:01Speaker 5: you know, it's it's great for kids. And I mean
- 32:03Speaker 5: he was Gordon's on the forefront of it too. Oh yeah,
- 32:05Speaker 5: I mean he was first, I mean out the gate.
- 32:07Speaker 5: You know, you know, he's a huge part of this
- 32:09Speaker 5: community and and everything that he does, and so you know,
- 32:12Speaker 5: being in being able to support ls U sports and
- 32:15Speaker 5: l s U football especially, it's huge. And that's that's
- 32:18Speaker 5: how you win games now in college football.
- 32:20Speaker 2: You know, that's the only way to question.
- 32:21Speaker 3: But I mean we're seeing, you know, where LSU's roster
- 32:24Speaker 3: is now to where it was a year ago.
- 32:27Speaker 2: It's like you.
- 32:28Speaker 3: Put nil dollars into it, and it's like he turns
- 32:31Speaker 3: out you can cover some receivers if you do that.
- 32:34Speaker 4: Well, So let me, why do you think that Gordon
- 32:37Speaker 4: Kurna wants to be such a force in the NIO world.
- 32:43Speaker 4: From an outsider looking in, it seems like it's just
- 32:47Speaker 4: because he cares that much about l s U athletics
- 32:50Speaker 4: and he wants that out. I don't you know, for
- 32:52Speaker 4: the profession that it is, it's probably like the first
- 32:54Speaker 4: thing people would think of from a market xtamble. But
- 32:56Speaker 4: you know that, like he wants to get back to
- 32:58Speaker 4: the community so bad.
- 32:59Speaker 2: And that's just who he is.
- 33:00Speaker 5: You know, he loves everything l s U and LSU
- 33:02Speaker 5: sports especially and so he's going to do everything he
- 33:05Speaker 5: can to make sure that he puts, you know, fans
- 33:08Speaker 5: and athletes in a winning environment. And that's what you know,
- 33:11Speaker 5: you know, that's what you're brought here to do it,
- 33:12Speaker 5: l You're supposed to win. And you know, when you're
- 33:15Speaker 5: surrounding yourself with good players and good people in the community,
- 33:18Speaker 5: everything adds up. And you know you're seeing what happens
- 33:22Speaker 5: in baseball and basketball.
- 33:23Speaker 3: And that's about says it's not just football, No, it's not.
- 33:26Speaker 3: I mean, I just I mean, I mean baseball. It
- 33:29Speaker 3: feels like you've got a ton of athletes there as well. Yeah,
- 33:32Speaker 3: I mean, it gives it gives. I mean LSU's special
- 33:34Speaker 3: in college baseball. Like I try to explain that to
- 33:36Speaker 3: people on my serious XM show, Like college baseball, like
- 33:39Speaker 3: you don't understand, like this is like the major league
- 33:41Speaker 3: team here, but still like to put college baseball players
- 33:44Speaker 3: out in front like that.
- 33:45Speaker 2: I mean, Gordon, for me.
- 33:46Speaker 3: At least that I saw, was like the first one
- 33:48Speaker 3: to really push college baseball in the NIL space.
- 33:50Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 33:51Speaker 5: Absolutely, I mean, and college baseball like you're saying here,
- 33:54Speaker 5: I mean, it's different than everywhere else, and it is
- 33:57Speaker 5: one of the only you know, it's it's football baseball here,
- 34:00Speaker 5: you know for the most part, and this is a
- 34:03Speaker 5: baseball football town and there's not a lot of places
- 34:06Speaker 5: like that. So when Gordon kind of went into this
- 34:08Speaker 5: NIO world, I think he you know, he saw that
- 34:10Speaker 5: as an opportunity.
- 34:11Speaker 2: Let's push out.
- 34:12Speaker 5: Baseball, let's push up let's push out football, and and uh,
- 34:15Speaker 5: you know, see what happens. And it's obviously turned out
- 34:17Speaker 5: n I L has grown so much, and I think
- 34:20Speaker 5: it's only going to continue to grow and in every way,
- 34:23Speaker 5: and you know, we'll see what happens.
- 34:25Speaker 4: So tell tell us what you're kind of kind of
- 34:27Speaker 4: what your role is, kind of like what's your day
- 34:29Speaker 4: to day is like. Because we saw the content, we
- 34:31Speaker 4: saw the different things that you're doing, but like kind
- 34:33Speaker 4: of what are what are the things on the horizon
- 34:35Speaker 4: for you?
- 34:35Speaker 2: What are you? What are you doing? Kind of day
- 34:37Speaker 2: in day out with with Gordon Mcarney.
- 34:39Speaker 5: That might be the toughest question. It's different tough questions.
- 34:44Speaker 5: It's different every day. I mean I do a lot
- 34:46Speaker 5: of stuff. So we started the Louisiana Loaded thing, him
- 34:48Speaker 5: and I where I kind of go around Louisiana, showcasing.
- 34:51Speaker 2: Everything throughout the state, all over Louisiana.
- 34:54Speaker 5: North, South, Shreveport, do large cut off wherever see.
- 34:59Speaker 3: He gives me the cities, want to ask you all
- 35:01Speaker 3: to give me Louisiana cities because.
- 35:02Speaker 2: He don't know. I know he's from Texas. That's right,
- 35:05Speaker 2: I told fair enough. St George right down the room.
- 35:12Speaker 3: So okay, So like when you go to these different cities,
- 35:14Speaker 3: like where is that content?
- 35:16Speaker 2: Like where can people find it? Kind of like where
- 35:17Speaker 2: some things are doing.
- 35:18Speaker 5: Yeah, So, I mean it's all over any it's you know, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook,
- 35:23Speaker 5: uh whatever, you could got it on YouTube.
- 35:25Speaker 2: So I'm just going around.
- 35:27Speaker 5: Basically, the idea is to showcase Louisiana culture, you know,
- 35:30Speaker 5: for people in Louisiana and for people outside of Louisiana
- 35:32Speaker 5: and so whether that's going to eat, going to drink
- 35:35Speaker 5: at a bar, going to hunt, going to fish, doing
- 35:37Speaker 5: you know everything, Louisiana was made for the.
- 35:40Speaker 2: Coolest, coolest thing you've done so far.
- 35:42Speaker 5: Uh, I mean, Omaha was pretty sweet. Okay, Okay, See
- 35:50Speaker 5: a couple of weeks ago, I took you know, three
- 35:53Speaker 5: or four baseball guys bow fishing, had a good time.
- 35:57Speaker 5: We went out of you know, the chef over there
- 35:59Speaker 5: and you don't you I don't know what that is. Yeah,
- 36:01Speaker 5: I figured, you know where slide Dell is. I do
- 36:04Speaker 5: close to that in the Marsha in the marsh marsh
- 36:09Speaker 5: times I've hopedale yea sweet spot you know that's just
- 36:14Speaker 5: a little further south. But we went you know, close
- 36:17Speaker 5: in the marsh out of slide deal and they had
- 36:18Speaker 5: a good time, made a cool video out of it.
- 36:20Speaker 3: That was a baseball players that have like been through that,
- 36:24Speaker 3: like from this area.
- 36:25Speaker 2: Was the baseball players that had no with.
- 36:27Speaker 5: Jason Evans, Jake Brown and Steven modelom Okay, so they
- 36:30Speaker 5: got it after a while.
- 36:31Speaker 2: I mean, both fishing is tough. Yeah, oh yeah, it's tough.
- 36:34Speaker 5: And so you know, you got to get the hang
- 36:35Speaker 5: of it a little bit, but they got the hang
- 36:36Speaker 5: of it and we had a good time.
- 36:37Speaker 2: That's awesome, man, that's awesome.
- 36:39Speaker 3: All right, before we let you go, and again Willhelmer's
- 36:41Speaker 3: is our guest here on OTB outlook for this baseball season.
- 36:45Speaker 3: I mean, it feels like they got a lot of
- 36:47Speaker 3: Jimmy's and a lot of Joe's coming back, and of
- 36:49Speaker 3: course Jay, you know, leading the helm there, you're gonna
- 36:51Speaker 3: always have an opportunity. But it feels like, look, you
- 36:54Speaker 3: want a national championship, and I know you're gonna lose
- 36:56Speaker 3: players from a team like that, but it really feels
- 36:58Speaker 3: like they did a good job of trying to replace
- 37:00Speaker 3: those players.
- 37:00Speaker 2: Yeah. Absolutely.
- 37:01Speaker 5: I mean the easiest time to recruit is after you
- 37:03Speaker 5: win a national championship. And you know, I've seen you know,
- 37:05Speaker 5: they take you know, guys on visits every week, you know,
- 37:09Speaker 5: up here at football games, and you know it's immediate commit, commit, commit, commit, commit,
- 37:13Speaker 5: So it's easy to recruit. And they've got some studs
- 37:15Speaker 5: that came in this year on the mound that you know,
- 37:18Speaker 5: pitching staff is going to be great obviously with Coachysky
- 37:20Speaker 5: and and everybody that you know does everything with that,
- 37:23Speaker 5: and you know it's it's Jay Johnson, you know. So
- 37:26Speaker 5: he's the Nick Saban of college baseball and you know
- 37:29Speaker 5: that's that's what he's preached since he's he's gotten here
- 37:31Speaker 5: to the players.
- 37:32Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what he wants to be. He wants to
- 37:33Speaker 2: be Alabama football for college baseball.
- 37:35Speaker 3: So Matt and I played for coach Saban here and
- 37:38Speaker 3: when Jay found that out, like he's like he'll he'll
- 37:41Speaker 3: pick your brain like about like little bitty things, and
- 37:43Speaker 3: that's the thing. So I actually I tell this story
- 37:45Speaker 3: all the time, but I met when I was playing
- 37:48Speaker 3: for the Chargers during the lockout year. We were working
- 37:50Speaker 3: out at the University of San Diego when Jay was
- 37:53Speaker 3: there and there was this guy and he was like
- 37:55Speaker 3: grinding on times, like in the weight room and he.
- 37:57Speaker 2: Was like always working with the players.
- 37:59Speaker 3: I'm like, is this dude, this guy's like always here,
- 38:01Speaker 3: like we can't be here and he's not here. And
- 38:03Speaker 3: introduced myself to him and it was Jay Johnson and
- 38:05Speaker 3: it's like you know, so, you know, years later I'm
- 38:08Speaker 3: doing radio and it's like, hey, eh, she needs a
- 38:11Speaker 3: new coach, and it's like Jay Johnson Arizona I'm like,
- 38:13Speaker 3: you got.
- 38:13Speaker 2: To get that guy I called. I called I call
- 38:17Speaker 2: when he's.
- 38:17Speaker 3: Working players like I like, I kind of called Scott.
- 38:20Speaker 3: I'm like Scott like he goes, we're on top of it,
- 38:24Speaker 3: what we're doing. I'm like, but you got to go
- 38:25Speaker 3: get Jay Johnson. So I've never met somebody like even
- 38:29Speaker 3: like with coach Savan, Like he's got all the traits
- 38:31Speaker 3: of that. But it's hard to go over there and
- 38:34Speaker 3: not see his car in the parking lot every day.
- 38:36Speaker 2: It's crazy. Yeah, I mean, no kids, no pets, loves
- 38:39Speaker 2: his wife.
- 38:40Speaker 5: I don't know how much, but he loves base He
- 38:43Speaker 5: says baseball is his kids. Says that's how he that's
- 38:46Speaker 5: how he treats it, you know, take it from me.
- 38:48Speaker 5: You know he treats those players like his kids, and
- 38:50Speaker 5: that's why he's so successful.
- 38:52Speaker 3: Looking forward to another great baseball season. Will we appreciate it?
- 38:55Speaker 2: Man?
- 38:55Speaker 3: Man, thank you guys for having where where can they
- 38:56Speaker 3: find the Louisiana load of like you know, I know
- 38:58Speaker 3: you mentioned like on is it on Agged Gordon? Like
- 39:01Speaker 3: is it on a different play at louisianaloading? Totally separate? Yeah,
- 39:04Speaker 3: so awesome link together, but yeah, no, for sure. Louis

- 42:02Speaker 3: home game for LSU football. Appreciate Will Helmer's for dropping by.
- 42:08Speaker 3: Always a good time to to, you know, talk about
- 42:11Speaker 3: l s U baseball, very cool thing, Louisiana loaded that
- 42:14Speaker 3: he's doing throughout the state of Louisiana and fishing before.
- 42:19Speaker 2: Very few times I've only.
- 42:21Speaker 3: Been because because i I'm you know, I mean, like
- 42:25Speaker 3: most things I do, I'm a little redneck old school,
- 42:27Speaker 3: like I just like to get a line in the
- 42:29Speaker 3: water and just hang out.
- 42:30Speaker 2: It's a fun hangout. The bow fishing got am.
- 42:32Speaker 3: Low quicker than you know, quicker like you know what
- 42:37Speaker 3: I'm saying, Like you can go fishing. You could sit
- 42:40Speaker 3: there for like three hours.
- 42:42Speaker 4: Like I'm I'm I'm a I would. I grew up
- 42:46Speaker 4: going fishing. I didn't do any like I mean, grow
- 42:48Speaker 4: up at Texas, I didn't saltwater fish a lot.
- 42:50Speaker 3: So now I mean I didn't either. Grown up in
- 42:51Speaker 3: North Louisiana, we had the lakes. We had Cross Lake,
- 42:53Speaker 3: Caddo Lake, abst Too, Talita Ben like all like you
- 42:57Speaker 3: could look in any direction and you had a lake
- 43:01Speaker 3: that had some good fishing in it.
- 43:02Speaker 2: Yeah, we had like Tyler like we did most of
- 43:04Speaker 2: our fishing in like Palestine, but like Home of Adrian,
- 43:09Speaker 2: Peter and Peterson Palace in high school. Yeah, no big deal.
- 43:11Speaker 2: Maybe the best highlight tape I've ever seen.
- 43:13Speaker 4: Uh well, yeah, one of the best running backs you
- 43:16Speaker 4: ever say, period at all levels.
- 43:19Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 43:20Speaker 4: So it was largemouth bass, it was stripe bass. It
- 43:22Speaker 4: was crappie aka sak a perge, blue Yill, all that stuff.
- 43:27Speaker 2: So I got down here. I hadn't. I didn't fish
- 43:29Speaker 2: as much in Louisiana that I should have because I
- 43:33Speaker 2: love fishing.
- 43:33Speaker 4: I left Honting. I just hadn't. You know, do you
- 43:36Speaker 4: play sports when you're here? So it's not a lot
- 43:38Speaker 4: of time.
- 43:39Speaker 2: I tell you all the time.
- 43:40Speaker 3: It's like, you know, you you grow up and you
- 43:42Speaker 3: do something and certainly like if you were hunting, right
- 43:45Speaker 3: and you do it and you can do it when
- 43:47Speaker 3: you're playing high school football, you know whatever, and then
- 43:49Speaker 3: you get here and you're like, I'm gonna keep doing that.
- 43:52Speaker 3: I've done that. That's you know, I don't have time.
- 43:55Speaker 3: I'm gonna do it on the bye week. Yeah, I'm
- 43:57Speaker 3: gonna do them. I'm gonna go and we're gonna get
- 43:59Speaker 3: a bye week. And then Bobby comes, You're like, I
- 44:01Speaker 3: don't want to do anything.
- 44:02Speaker 4: Yeah, I kind of pulled him here right now, like
- 44:05Speaker 4: kind of bruises all over my brain. And then you
- 44:09Speaker 4: come here as a full grown adult with family, It's
- 44:12Speaker 4: it's a little bit.
- 44:13Speaker 2: Different making excuses. But I have been both fishing and
- 44:16Speaker 2: it was fun, kind of like kind of a little
- 44:19Speaker 2: bit cheating, but yeah, that's cool. How's it cheating?
- 44:22Speaker 4: I mean you just shoot him in a narrown just
- 44:24Speaker 4: spotlight them. They don't have to bite anything, you know,
- 44:28Speaker 4: it's fair. It's kind of like if you we just
- 44:30Speaker 4: went out there, hold the game. Huh you just have
- 44:32Speaker 4: a huge trouble hook and you just started foul hooking things.
- 44:35Speaker 2: Yeah, but no, it's fine. I'll that is not a knock.
- 44:39Speaker 2: I love it.
- 44:40Speaker 3: I want to check out, you know, all the things
- 44:42Speaker 3: Will is doing, because that'd be very very cool to
- 44:43Speaker 3: go out you know, throughout the state of Louisiana.
- 44:46Speaker 2: Yes, even North Louisiana. People don't be here. There's a
- 44:49Speaker 2: lot of.
- 44:49Speaker 3: Stuff going on up there up in North Louisiana.
- 44:52Speaker 2: So I appreciate that, appreciate this time.
- 44:54Speaker 3: Appreciate him coming and hanging out with us there and
