- 0:10What does the nanny do? OK, so we're done.
- 0:13Goodbye. You.
- 0:16Shut it off. Do not twist my words.
- 0:19Do not make me a victim, sweetie.
- 0:21Just look at the mountain. That's what you.
- 0:23Saw that day just the knife in
- 0:29and the sacrifices that I made
- 0:48It's the episode you've all been
- 0:51A wife decides season 6 Episode 8 A wife decides.
- 1:01I wonder if this decision is about Meri's baby decision.
- 1:07We're just going to experience
- 1:11listeners. Six seasons and eight episodes
- 1:14now. It has felt like years and years
- 1:19and years. And the episode opens with an
- 1:22overview of everyone being at the Brown Own family cul-de-sac
- 1:26and what it all means now that
- 1:29each other. They're a family again, honey.
- 1:32A family. A real family.
- 1:35Everyone's just living their best lives.
- 1:37We see a little truly jumping on
- 1:41hot pink Tutu. Get up.
- 1:43It was quite striking. We see Mckelty walking by with a
- 1:48mannequin wearing a newspaper skirt.
- 1:53Along the lines of the cellophane dress?
- 1:55Yes. From previous season or episodes
- 1:58where it's all tufted. I don't know how to even
- 2:01describe it. Yeah, it is it Tufted.
- 2:03Layered tufted. Yeah, rolled up newspaper clumps
- 2:09making a skirt. Yeah, she's Co opting from the
- 2:14designer that she met. Well, she was inspired, honey.
- 2:17She's inspired. Not stealing designs.
- 2:20Whatsoever, she's a creative and
- 2:24Sure, sure. The opening is basically just a
- 2:28giant nothing burger. Just clips here and there of
- 2:33everybody. And Kody has a voiceover where
- 2:35he tells us that they're all very different and independent.
- 2:39The wives, you know, everyone's living their lives, doing their
- 2:42things. And how do we meld our family
- 2:45back together now that we're at the Brown family cul-de-sac?
- 2:48And, you know, that's what's been keeping me up at night
- 2:50recently. I've been going, how are the
- 2:52Browns going to do this? How are they going to get their
- 2:54magic back? How are they going to meld back
- 2:59into their routines? They couldn't meld when they
- 3:04were that far apart. Now they're trying to meld that
- 3:06they're this close together. Always an issue here with the
- 3:10melding of the. Family, the melding.
- 3:14So then to start the episode, we're basically going to get an
- 3:16update from each of the wives kind of on what's happening,
- 3:19what's the deal, what's the latest, what's the Goss, what's
- 3:22the news? We start with Meri and she tells
- 3:25us about how Leon is always hanging out with the other teens
- 3:29or hanging out in Meri's loft upstairs.
- 3:32Oh, the open loft. Meri just loves hearing all of
- 3:35the noise again, of all of the
- 3:39hear some annoying but cute laughter, giggling of the girls
- 3:46hanging out. I think they're playing a video.
- 3:48Game or something. There's a clip of Leon on the
- 3:52couch during Meri's little opening segment, where Leon
- 3:55volunteers that waiting an extra
- 3:59really wasn't such a big Dell 00.
- 4:02And I noticed that Leon is still
- 4:08and slutty tank top. And I thought, how very dare
- 4:12you. Are you really trying to
- 4:13advertise that you still have your purity or not?
- 4:16I think it's funny that Leon has
- 4:21Oh well, moving in one week later than everyone else sucked,
- 4:24but I guess it didn't turn out
- 4:28And I'm just reminded that it was only a week.
- 4:33Difference. They postponed Christmas till
- 4:36January 2nd for little Leon. Leon made such a big drama deal
- 4:42about not being in their house
- 4:46else that it felt like a month's
- 4:49Felt like a stunning reaction.
- 4:52We're reminded again that it was
- 4:58OK? One week.
- 4:59And basically because of the holiday and your mother's own
- 5:03wrongdoings. Wrongdoings, Yes.
- 5:06Meri's failures as a mother, well, it sounds like Leon has
- 5:11recovered, and we're all very thankful for that.
- 5:13If anything we're thankful for
- 5:17happy and feeling good. Thank you baby Jesus.
- 5:20The most important thing, our next wife is Christine.
- 5:24She talks about having all the
- 5:28and all of that. She does enjoy it and also the
- 5:32children have started what she
- 5:36town in the backyard and they cut to the backyard for a visual
- 5:41and my my my. It was quite the sight to see a.
- 5:45Little harkening back to their
- 5:50is bringing up something that the older kids used to do back
- 5:54at the Lehigh home. They used to do Kids Town and
- 5:58build stuff out in the little woods, I guess that was next to
- 6:02it. And we see, yeah, makeshift
- 6:05tents in the dusty ass backyard.
- 6:08And we see that they have used pieces of lattice from a deck,
- 6:18cardboards. And it's very Lord of the Flies
- 6:20esque. That's a good reference, yes.
- 6:23Christine says that the only downside of Kids Town is that it
- 6:30It's a disaster. It's absolutely atrocious.
- 6:34The backyard is a disaster. It totally is.
- 6:38While they're showing the backyard as well.
- 6:40I personally loved that they had music playing over that was like
- 6:48some city slicker coming up and pulling out his gun because
- 6:51of all the dust blowing everywhere and it literally
- 6:53looks like a shantytown. What the fuck is going on here?
- 6:56Also one of the little girls has
- 6:58a piece of cardboard and is waving it at the ground and like
- 7:03wafting dust up. Just a wafting dust into the air
- 7:07for no reason. What's so Well, well, West in
- 7:10that backyard? It is.
- 7:11It really is. We go to the kids on the couch
- 7:15and Isabel is talking about how some of the moms don't want to
- 7:21have any more kids and she starts listing off all of the
- 7:24moms that don't want any more kids and talking about how they
- 7:27need more kids though. Yes, with all the moms, they
- 7:31need more kids they need. More kids for their kids town.
- 7:35It just goes to show the innocence of children.
- 7:39They just think, oh, more playmates, so much fun.
- 7:42More kids for kids town for kids
- 7:45Oh boy. Janelle is next on our little
- 7:47tour of how the wives are doing here at the Brown family
- 7:50cul-de-sac. And we get this shot of Janelle
- 7:53in the family room. No one is around.
- 7:56And at first she's yelling for
- 7:58And I was like, oh, we're going to get Maddie.
- 8:00We haven't seen Maddie in a second.
- 8:01And then it was Hunter Gabriel
- 8:08She's just saying children's names, yelling them towards
- 8:12upstairs. And then we have her talking to
- 8:15the camera and she says, you know, this house is great, but
- 8:18the way that the walls are set
- 8:23or that maybe they choose not to
- 8:26The kids just disappear in the
- 8:30They choose not to hear me. Right.
- 8:33It was fun to see because it reminded me of times where I
- 8:36maybe have not heard my mother
- 8:39And I was like, oh, I didn't hear, oh, isn't that convenient?
- 8:43I still have selective hearing
- 8:45I swear, I I don't know what it is, we all do it, but there's
- 8:49something about your own mother's voice.
- 8:52Oh. That you're especially attuned
- 8:55to tuning out. Attuned to tuning out.
- 8:58I think we all have that affliction.
- 9:01When we finally make it to Robyn's house, she tells us that
- 9:04they're going to be burning Kody's duffel bag.
- 9:08So this would be the duffel bag that he would pack and bring
- 9:11from house to house when they were in their rentals.
- 9:14And of course, everyone is disturbed by this duffel bag,
- 9:17including Robyn. She's so disturbed that she can
- 9:19barely string a sentence together.
- 9:22She's so disturbed. Well it's a weird because is she
- 9:25opening up a box that has the fire pit in it?
- 9:29Oh, I didn't know and. She goes, this is a fire pit and
- 9:33literally says this is a fire pit and we're going to burn
- 9:38Kody's duffel bag. Oh.
- 9:40God, when she was describing the
- 9:44bag was when I was most impressed by her because she
- 9:47said something along the lines
- 9:52memory. And when he would bring the bag
- 9:54back and forth to the houses and
- 9:58it's no longer needed. And I was a bit stimulated
- 10:02myself when she said that it was
- 10:05stimulation of a memory. I thought, wow, stimulation,
- 10:09It's quite a word. I think she meant simulation,
- 10:11but I don't even think that's correct.
- 10:14So I don't know what she. Bizarre word in what?
- 10:16She was really saying they just let her keep going.
- 10:18Like keep talking, girl, we're
- 10:20We're not going to edit that out.
- 10:21We're keeping it in. We're going to highlight that.
- 10:23No, and she's talking about yeah, how he would show up with
- 10:26the bag so they would see this
- 10:30mug on their doorsteps and then when he would leave there was
- 10:33an empty spot where the bag should be.
- 10:38So symbolic. Really, really it's.
- 10:41Almost poetic, it's stimulating.
- 10:44Their use of words, it just never ceases to amaze me.
- 10:49And this is just another ridiculous thing to do.
- 10:53Another weird ass way to get the family together.
- 10:57We have to Berry hatchets in the yard.
- 11:01Berry coolers, bury dead bodies, burn bags.
- 11:07Yeah. What are they doing?
- 11:10With this season, it feels to me like there are quite a few
- 11:15things happening that are production fueled, where a story
- 11:22they have to have something happen for the show.
- 11:25So you brainstorm and you come up with ideas of what you can
- 11:28do. Unfortunately, I don't think
- 11:30they quite took the exercises far enough because not having
- 11:33the, for example, family mission statement ready when they were
- 11:40But they do have to have content for the episodes.
- 11:42When we were looking at Season 6, we were going, wow, there's
- 11:49dialed back the useless exercises and really stuck to
- 11:53things that mattered or made sense.
- 11:55But I think throughout this season we're going to notice
- 11:58more and more things happening, activities where it just feels
- 12:09family together in one spot, especially when you do have this
- 12:13many kids that are probably part
- 12:17And even when they, you know, get to the part here where
- 12:21they're going to burn the bag,
- 12:23You can tell not all 17 kids are
- 12:27They're like single line around it and it's right, there's
- 12:30plenty of spaces between them.
- 12:32are we doing? Like, it's bizarre.
- 12:36And I get it. I get that they're trying to
- 12:37make moments for the show two in
- 12:43capsule burying a cooler that they couldn't think of anything
- 12:47better to bury than our red Igloo cooler.
- 12:51And now they're going to burn a bag.
- 12:53I get what they're doing but it's very forced and awkward.
- 12:58The wives give us some more of
- 13:01bag, including Christine who says that the bag was like Kody
- 13:05was coming over for a sleepover when he would show up with that
- 13:08bag just coming over for the night, popping in for a
- 13:12sleepover. Your sexy husband here here for
- 13:15a sleepover, love you Christine.
- 13:17My favorite response to the bag was of course Janelle who says I
- 13:25I was lol in 'cause I was like thank you.
- 13:28Thank you, Janelle for being you and bringing us this special
- 13:32moment. One normal person that's not
- 13:34bothered by this bag that carries these horrible visual
- 13:39stimulations. Not the stimulation.
- 13:44Oh God, oh Lord my God. Kody says to Janelle it's a
- 13:52symbol of her independence. Yes, because she got to get rid
- 13:56of him. When he would pick up that bag,
- 13:58she'd go. Thank God he's he's packing up
- 14:01And we immediately cut to Kody putting the duffel bag in a fire
- 14:08was unboxing if that's truly what happened.
- 14:10I love how you got. That it was weird.
- 14:12I did not even notice at all. I thought she was just, you
- 14:14know, sorting through her horde. I had no idea what was going.
- 14:17On sometimes it just feels like they give her very fed lines,
- 14:20like she just doesn't know what to say or do.
- 14:24And I've caught a couple of instances where they're trying
- 14:31it. She had to have been unboxing it
- 14:37because she said this is a fire pit.
- 14:41And I do apologize because we keep saying bag in our Minnesota
- 14:47accent. It's a bag.
- 14:48And we make fun of Big Dull and I'm sure this episode we're
- 14:54going to get made fun of her bag.
- 14:57Yeah. Bag, you got to carry your big
- 14:58dull and a big bag. Literally when I lived in
- 15:02California, people would be like, say it again and I'm like
- 15:04bag. And they're like, no, it's bag.
- 15:05And I'm like bag and like bag.
- 15:08And they're like bagel. I'm like bagel a bagel.
- 15:11It's a bagel. I don't understand this.
- 15:13I don't hear it being different but okay.
- 15:16I know. I just know people are gonna
- 15:19catch it from us, so I have to
- 15:24there. We don't hear it, but we know
- 15:26it's there. OK, so apologies for saying bag
- 15:29on repeat for like 10 minutes.
- 15:33before it so that it kind of eases the pain of the bag.
- 15:37Gosh, you're so smart. It's a fire pit.
- 15:42Fire pit. Well, Kody is putting this
- 15:45duffel bag in a fire pit in the backyard.
- 15:48We get some more precious pearls
- 15:51Christine. Well, they're kind of going back
- 15:54and forth between the couch and the setup of this thing.
- 15:56So that's going to happen a lot in this episode where we're
- 15:58going to reference voice overs
- 16:00And just like usual, there's a
- 16:03Christine is giving Kody a bit
- 16:07We'll get to get Josh in him, a little bit about how there are
- 16:09other ways to destroy this duffel bag other than burning
- 16:13it. And she has a little humorous
- 16:15list of things to do. I don't really recall any of
- 16:18them other than burning the bag and then collecting the ashes.
- 16:23My favorite one is we could caught it up.
- 16:26Oh yeah, caught it up. We could caught it up into a.
- 16:29Million little pieces, but if they decide to burn it, they
- 16:33could collect the ashes, which
- 16:36I guess for something and somewhere.
- 16:39But ultimately, burning the duffel bag is really a
- 16:41celebration, a victory of being in the homes, according to
- 16:46Kody. Right before they start this
- 16:50massive fire that could cause catastrophic events to happen.
- 17:07goes by. Yeah, it was a little ironic,
- 17:10yeah. Especially uncontrollably.
- 17:12Right. Burning a random odd object
- 17:15outside of your brand new homes. Great, great idea there.
- 17:19Was some reference to the, like, black smoke?
- 17:21Like, is that a problem? And it's like, yeah, you should
- 17:23breathe it in. You should totally breathe it
- 17:25in. Yeah, Kody's like, I don't know
- 17:27about this black smoke. Like, well, you are burning
- 17:30plastic in front of your brand new homes in a fire pit that
- 17:35Robyn assembled, which seems awfully dangerous this.
- 17:38Is it this? Is it?
- 17:40The fire hazard isn't even the bag on fire, it's the fire pit
- 17:46stimulation of it all. After TLC pays some bills with a
- 17:57Turns out I was wrong. Kody is there on his lonesome.
- 18:04Kody's hanging out at Robyn's though, yeah.
- 18:08Wow. I wonder if there's a ticker
- 18:10board for that because yeah, we're going to see that again,
- 18:14It would be perfect timing to start it because we are at the
- 18:21Yeah.
- 18:22Episode that we're doing outside
- 18:25moved in. I think we should start a
- 18:27ticker. Oh honey, I don't have the
- 18:29strength, nor the stamina nor the concern or the care.
- 18:33But if you want to, you know, maybe it will fulfill some of
- 18:35your ADHD needs. It would the visual stimulation
- 18:38of it alone. Every time that they get there I
- 18:43will just get titillated, stimulated, add another check.
- 18:47Put it in the bag. Put it in the bag.
- 18:52Yeah, Kody's alone at Robyn's house, and he lets us know that
- 18:55he's meeting with the manufacturers of my sister
- 18:57wife's closet jewelry with a goal of designing jewelry pieces
- 19:01for each one of his wives for Mother's Day.
- 19:05If you were to hear that story, you might think, wow, what a
- 19:08loving husband and what a great idea.
- 19:09But we know the truth, he only
- 19:13good idea. And it will be proven that it is
- 19:16not a good idea. But we won't learn that in this
- 19:18episode, children. All the more reason to subscribe
- 19:21and to follow so that you can hear the end of this riveting
- 19:23tale of Kody's jewelry. I don't even know.
- 19:27Failure, stimulation, failure.
- 19:32We meet Mike and Gina again, the
- 19:38ex-husband and wife. I thought that's what the thing
- 19:42was. And neither one of their last
- 19:44names are actually the name Marino or whatever.
- 19:46Yeah, it's Gina and Michael Wilson, which I was like Wilson.
- 19:51I thought it was Moreno Enterprises.
- 19:53You're right. So maybe it's named after their
- 19:55first born Moreno. Baby name Moreno.
- 20:00Oh, moreno's so cute. He has them there because he
- 20:04wants their input. Their input is going to allow
- 20:08him to get his foot out of his
- 20:11Oh yeah. So his shitty ideas coupled with
- 20:15their not so shitty ideas will
- 20:20an idiot. Right.
- 20:22And these Mother's Day gifts that are truly from the heart.
- 20:26And who is he going to start with?
- 20:28But of course, his number one,
- 20:30Robyn. He claims he was inspired by
- 20:33Robyn when he starts with her.
- 20:36we're going to hear about the other wives inspiring him.
- 20:39I doubt it. But you never know, he could
- 20:41prove us wrong. He does say that she is a bird
- 20:44and ILOLOL, because I was thinking, I do feel as if you
- 20:50have said that she looks like a bird.
- 20:52We have referenced that she has bird like features, that
- 20:55sometimes she looks like a bird with a wig on and he's saying
- 20:59she is a bird. But also her name is Robyn.
- 21:03Oh, and it is, oh, the blue eggs, I didn't even connect the
- 21:07dots. So it's, oh, I'm such an idiot.
- 21:11I'm as dumb as Kody. But Kody is convinced that Robyn
- 21:14was like a phoenix rising out of
- 21:18You know, a successful, triumphant story.
- 21:22So obviously that's why she's like a bird.
- 21:24Duh. Not that her name's Robyn or
- 21:26that she lays blue eggs. Or that she looks like she has a
- 21:29beak from the side and that. She she walks with her head,
- 21:33going in and out and in and out.
- 21:35Oh, many a bird comparison for our Robyn Brown.
- 21:37And who's next on the list, darling?
- 21:39#2 be but Meri. Oh, Meri.
- 21:44And her quality that he is drawing inspiration from is her
- 21:51extreme loyalty and she just needs some sort of symbol that
- 22:02dog. Maybe another animal like a dog.
- 22:12to be compared to a dog, Kody.
- 22:16His stupid ideas are being corrected by Moreno Enterprise
- 22:19leadership. His paw just got pulled out of
- 22:22his mouth by Gina, thank goodness.
- 22:25Put that dog in the corner, Kody.
- 22:27Bury that dog in the backyard.
- 22:31unfortunately in this family, and they decide that a better
- 22:36symbol than a loyal Labrador would be a crown with a heart on
- 22:43it. And not just any crown with a
- 22:45heart attached to the bottom. Yeah, I think the crown is
- 22:50sitting on the heart and the way
- 22:52like the crown had a heart on, which I thought was great.
- 22:55And I hope I get to keep it in
- 22:58Oh, the stimulation, the visual stimulation I'm trying to lay
- 23:03out for you all here. Moreno Enterprises gave the
- 23:05thumb up with that crown of the heart on, so that's good.
- 23:09That's great. We are going to add a very
- 23:13special word and you know, Kody can't think of any better word
- 23:19than loyalty, except let's just put a twist on it and go with
- 23:24the Latin word for loyal, which is fidelis.
- 23:28Oh I love how he knew that already.
- 23:31He's just so scholarly in his language.
- 23:35Mr. Mike is the one that suggests adding a word to the
- 23:38heart with the crown on its ball
- 23:45And you know, Kody just gives him all of the praise, but then
- 23:47all of a sudden just pulls the
- 23:51So not staged at all, not already come up with at all.
- 23:56Listen, this joint venture is working smoothly and beautifully
- 24:00already and we're only two wives
- 24:02So it can only get better from
- 24:07It's interesting because he kind
- 24:10second wives where it becomes elements like earth, wind and
- 24:13fire. And I thought, why wasn't Meri
- 24:16fire? Because Meri would be fire and
- 24:17then it would be like flames and
- 24:21That's Meri. But unfortunately I wasn't part
- 24:24of the meeting so I didn't get
- 24:26We went from animals to elements.
- 24:29Yep, very quickly. No direction changed for Moreno
- 24:33Enterprises on that. One.
- 24:34No explanation whatsoever. Yeah.
- 24:37But Janelle is Earth, of course,
- 24:40symbolize Earth than a tree? And you know, our friend Gina
- 24:44was talking about what a tree means and how it stays where it
- 24:48is and that it's, I don't know.
- 24:50I feel like what she was describing was actually the
- 24:53loyalty bit for Meri. Like always there, I thought,
- 24:56why aren't you saying like it has roots and then there's
- 25:00branches and whatever. But you know, Gina's the
- 25:02creative genius here, not me. She said grounded with
- 25:07stability. See, stability's not the same as
- 25:11I think that they are kind of just spitballing at this point
- 25:22Well, Kody is so discerning that
- 25:25he's going to tear their thoughts apart.
- 25:27Just kidding, that's not the case.
- 25:29And last but not least, we get
- 25:33Oh, she's easy, but not so easy.
- 25:36Her priMeri element is wind. Very ethereal.
- 25:40The winds of love. Yeah, he says.
- 25:43It's going to be very hard to put wind and air into a design,
- 25:49and how do you do that? And he brings up that when he
- 25:54thinks of wind and air, he thinks like a fairy, and he
- 25:59thinks Christina's very much like a fairy.
- 26:01And every once in a while, they can bite too, because they're
- 26:06mischievous. They absolutely are.
- 26:08They're usually ethereal, but then that little mischievous
- 26:11glance comes around the corner and bites ya.
- 26:15Fairies like to bite, apparently.
- 26:16I've never heard this before. Maybe it's part of some sort of
- 26:20classic tale from days gone past.
- 26:21I have heard it in Irish folklore that fairies do bite.
- 26:33I I don't want to say yes here. Then you'll be skirting eyes pop
- 26:45obsessed with fairies. Not going to lie, like many
- 26:49little girls are, I was obsessed with fairies.
- 26:53And they like to bite. They do.
- 26:56It's a very weird fact about them.
- 26:59I am curious who else out there knew this?
- 27:04Well, I think it's funny that you're calling it a fact, as if
- 27:07fairies are real and they really bite like it is a fact.
- 27:17I know, so dismissive of me. It was very dismissive.
- 27:21Thanks for apologizing. You're welcome.
- 27:24There is Irish folklore of changelings like babies being
- 27:32traded out from their bassinets, and there's a lot of weird fairy
- 27:46might tie into Mormonism if there are any fairy tales from
- 27:54faith. I got it.
- 27:59Nauvoo is where the fairies come from, honey.
- 28:03They all birthed out of the Canyon in Nauvoo.
- 28:05Like a giant vagina, they come flying out.
- 28:08And perhaps Christine herself was a changeling.
- 28:12Never know. We will never know.
- 28:14I have seen her bite a few people.
- 28:16This scene is wrapped up by Gina.
- 28:19Thank God she tells us that. It's obvious that Kody loves
- 28:23them all, but each one is a bit different.
- 28:26And you know, there's an interesting thing here with
- 28:29monogamy versus polygamy, because with monogamist, you're
- 28:31trying to find all of these qualities that he loves in his
- 28:41She's trying to articulate how she feels about monogamy.
- 28:45It's as if the producers asked her a question and she's
- 28:51struggling here. But Mike, her kind husband,
- 28:56pipes up and has a revelation that perhaps it's like all of
- 29:01the wives were meant to be together, and they become 10.
- 29:06Hello. Yeah, you know, as Meri would
- 29:14say, we don't go weird. Some poor producer asked these
- 29:28were going to wrap that up and then to put the cherry on top of
- 29:34designing these wonderful gifts for his wives is that one
- 29:37of the wives will be jealous of another piece of jewelry that
- 29:43a different wife receives. What an understandable fear.
- 29:46I totally get it. It would.
- 29:48It frightens me. Now I'm frightened.
- 29:50The potential of jealousy. My God, Oh Lord, no.
- 29:54Not in this family. Never.
- 29:57Kody introduces us to the next scene by telling us that they've
- 30:06collection in a store via a wholesale line.
- 30:09And this is going to make me ask some questions in the future,
- 30:14but we'll get to that. And Meri tells us that some
- 30:17people were asking for less expensive pieces, so they're
- 30:21going to do this wholesale line at a lower price point.
- 30:26I think it makes sense. I'm not so sure how they're
- 30:29going to go about this. Gina and Mike are really the
- 30:34driving force behind this meeting.
- 30:38They are helping facilitate this meeting between the family and a
- 30:53I've never heard of it. Nope, it's a happening place.
- 30:56They're going to carry huge gaudy silver jewelry in their
- 31:00gift shop. So sure, I guess it goes
- 31:02together. We get couch moments here and we
- 31:08get a little bit of back story
- 31:12are fitting into the jewelry line again and Christine says
- 31:16that she is focusing on the fun factor which she sees happening
- 31:21in this new line. I don't understand the point of
- 31:26that, how she's seeing a fun factor in this new cheaper line
- 31:30of the. I know that is not explained at
- 31:32all, as if it's going to be neon
- 31:35and shrink. Like, I don't know what's fun
- 31:37about it. It's just cheaper.
- 31:38She brings up the fact that she was going to get into real
- 31:42estate and realizes that no, there's just not enough time in
- 31:46my busy schedule with having a
- 31:50other small children. Nope, Nope, Nope.
- 31:53Can't do the Realty thing, no time for that.
- 31:56But this fun factor of a lesser price point, wholesale jewelry,
- 32:01sure, I can get on board with that.
- 32:04And we get from Janelle that, Nope, still focused on real
- 32:09estate. Yeah, big, huge eye roll from
- 32:14Robyn that they focus in on. We'll see.
- 32:17Janelle's just trying to forge
- 32:20And Robyn, she doesn't like that, because Robyn wants to
- 32:24forge her own path, but she needs everyone else to forge it
- 32:26for her. She can't really do it.
- 32:29I don't get what they were trying to go for here by
- 32:32pointing out just specifically
- 32:36fitting into the jewelry line.
- 32:39weird and didn't fit in. Yeah, just another like random
- 32:44update I guess. Yeah, I think they're just
- 32:47trying to call out the differences in the wives and
- 32:49where they're at with it. But the Robyn eye roll, she
- 32:52looks up to the left and keeps
- 32:57they focus in on it. To me, it's very pointed that
- 33:04production left that in and zoomed in on her.
- 33:07When Janelle talks about choosing real estate over the
- 33:10jewelry line. Yeah, it's more of the same.
- 33:13So I guess she's just still frustrated and annoyed, yeah,
- 33:17that someone else isn't taking
- 33:20come true. I don't really.
- 33:21Yeah, but Mike and Gina are trying to take care of it.
- 33:25They're trying to help Rob. That's their number one goal, is
- 33:28to make Robyn's dreams come true.
- 33:30And number two or three or four somewhere down the line is
- 33:32making money. But really it's about Robyn's
- 33:35dreams. That's why we're all here, of
- 33:36course. To.
- 33:37Fulfill Robyn's dreams for her.
- 33:39Making jewelry that weighs your neck down and gives you a
- 33:43scoliosis or something. I just don't even know what's
- 33:47the goal here. Robyn, please tell me other than
- 33:55meet Mike and Gina at the casino gift store.
- 33:59As we're walking into the casino, we see a large fish tank
- 34:10So fun the. Family is baffled.
- 34:13Christine got a little wet. She sure did.
- 34:16Yeah, she loves, she loves a fish tank and she loves a Murr
- 34:22She loves fairies and murr people were finding out and make
- 34:28Make believe Christine. She's got the heart of a 12 year
- 34:31old and the mind of an 8 year old.
- 34:33You often point out that Christine does her little hop,
- 34:36skip, jump, clap, clap, clap. Oh yeah, she did it here.
- 34:39Oh yeah. Hercules.
- 34:41Hercules. She did the Hercules clap.
- 34:44Yeah. And Christine says that it's
- 34:46hypocritical, but mermaids can
- 34:51cocktail waitresses they should not be.
- 34:54No, you know the modesty expectations regarding mermaids
- 34:58are different than cocktail waitresses for sure.
- 35:01Because, you know, mermaids are just swimming around where
- 35:03cocktail waitresses are. Cocktail waitressing.
- 35:07Very true. How?
- 35:07Dare those cocktail waitresses
- 35:10Oh no. Wow, wow.
- 35:15Robyn questions. Is this morally OK to have their
- 35:19products in a casino? She's really struggling with
- 35:21that. Because, you know, when I think
- 35:23of a moral pillar, I think of Robyn.
- 35:25When I think of doing right, I
- 35:30questioning this decision. Mormonism is against gambling.
- 35:35But luckily Christine researched
- 35:38ensure it was sitting ridden, that there would be no sitting
- 35:42in that casino. And while yes, she's being very
- 35:46puritanical, she found out that the casino does have family
- 35:49activities, so it's fine. She would even go there herself.
- 35:54Yeah, she makes a point to try
- 35:59is a family casino. Listen, there's mermaids.
- 36:04She's giddy as a schoolgirl. She doesn't even notice the
- 36:07hookers and blow in the corner.
- 36:09She didn't even notice. Lots of family attractions so
- 36:12it's OK the. Family Casino.
- 36:15What was it called again? Silverton.
- 36:17Silverton casino where you bring your family to.
- 36:21See the mermaids. Yes, for all the family
- 36:24activities at the gambling hall that the Mormons are OK with.
- 36:28Well, they're not Mormon, they're AUB members.
- 36:30Sorry, Mormons, we, we don't want to, you know, call
- 36:33everything Mormon. It's very obvious that they're
- 36:39times. They even when they first moved
- 36:41there, they're like, do the kids even know what gambling is?
- 36:46in a casino? No.
- 36:47And then, you know, a couple of the kids back then were talking
- 36:51about it or mentioning that Janelle knew what it was.
- 36:54And Kody put the kibosh on that,
- 36:58And now all of a sudden we're going to sell jewelry out of a
- 37:02casino, and Robyn, of all people, has to bring up the
- 37:07moral complications of this, and
- 37:12it. Oh, it's a family affair.
- 37:13We could bring our family here. It'd be fine, fine, fine.
- 37:17But then we get to the name of the gift shop.
- 37:20We're going to meet in front of the gift shop now and find out
- 37:27Gold Capital letters on the signage.
- 37:31GUILT, Guilt. The wives literally go oh wow.
- 37:49But when you just, you know, turn your head ever so slightly
- 37:52and focus your eyes, you can see through the window that it's
- 38:00Well, stuff some people buy. There's a lot of crap, just
- 38:02stuff. Bright colors would buy.
- 38:05Bright colors, shiny objects, things that say buy me, buy me
- 38:10That's what it is. It's that kind of store.
- 38:12It doesn't look. It's not a sex shop.
- 38:15There's no bottles of booze. There's no, I didn't really see
- 38:19any gambling stuff around. So it's.
- 38:21Fuzzy handcuffs, that type of thing.
- 38:23No hooker boots, it's literally just a gift shop, so you know.
- 38:33Oh, but first, Robyn needs to make sure that it's appropriate
- 38:37by going in there and browsing around herself, and she
- 38:41realizes, oh, it's just a play on words.
- 38:44It's just shopping for adults and candy for kids.
- 38:48And actually a lot of this stuff I would have in my own home.
- 38:52I said shocker, shocker, the hoarder, the shopaholic would
- 38:55buy all the shit in this store. I was shocked.
- 38:58I was so surprised. I noticed here that Robyn is
- 39:03wearing jeans and a light yellow blazer that is buttoned under
- 39:08her boobies and she is looking very business casual.
- 39:13And is she trying to look the part of a jewelry saleswoman?
- 39:21I'm not sure. I don't know what that looks
- 39:24like. I don't know either, but she's
- 39:28She really was trying that button that was buttoned way too
- 39:34It was cute. Was it cute?
- 39:37She was looking, she was looking cute.
- 39:39OK, she was looking something. We went from Aeropostale to
- 39:44Grandma bargain bin and now we're at business Blazer casual.
- 39:51know, really fitting in wherever
- 39:53Very good at putting a mask on
- 39:58At the family friendly casino.
- 40:03Thank you to the manager for allowing them to come in and
- 40:06show their wonderful product off.
- 40:08She tells the camera that middle
- 40:11seems to like the my sister wife's closet concept, but once
- 40:15it gets leveled up to leadership
- 40:18to have an issue with customer
- 40:22family and what that means. It's like, Oh my God, I guess
- 40:27that would be weird to try to be
- 40:30Is it really that it's polygamous?
- 40:33Sure, maybe, but also it's the
- 40:37matter? It's jewelry.
- 40:39What does it have to do with being a sister wife?
- 40:42That's what I still feel is the fundamental thing is if there's
- 40:45a disconnect, sure, maybe some, you know, leader in some
- 40:49building that has nothing to do with the retail floor doesn't
- 40:51understand that no one would care when they're in the store
- 40:53about the polygamy aspect. But a very serious question
- 40:57would be why would we ever sell this product?
- 40:59Why does anyone actually want it?
- 41:01No one would care, right? Which is, you know, I guess what
- 41:04everybody knows except for the
- 41:07Gina gets herself all worked up and she says when driving in
- 41:13Vegas, if you were to look over in the car next to you at a
- 41:16stoplight, you could see a woman
- 41:22boobies out. Or you could look at these women
- 41:25with their high necks and multiple other wives.
- 41:28And why does it matter? Like comparing polygamous and
- 41:33monogamous and we're in Sin City.
- 41:36Why does it matter? And they're doing their best to
- 41:40get her worked up, to get some
- 41:43And they did trick me. They did trick me.
- 41:45And then, you know, seeing it next where it seems like she's
- 41:49going against the family. But no, no, she was just getting
- 41:54worked up by some producer here.
- 41:56Yeah, she says. When you look out the window of
- 41:59the car you could see anybody part.
- 42:01In Las. Vegas.
- 42:04And I'm like wow, anybody part OK.
- 42:07So why do we care about polygamous jewelry?
- 42:09The moral outrage is what I say the moral outrage.
- 42:14Kody says that they will only be selling this jewelry in
- 42:20Silverton and he thinks that it will become a destination once
- 42:27Oh yes, people will be flocking to that gift shop in a family
- 42:31friendly casino to buy polygamous themed jewelry.
- 42:34They're going to be shopping at Gilt for that polygamous
- 42:39jewelry. Dropping the dollars.
- 42:41Like in there? This is where earlier what I was
- 42:49I get that you're making a wholesale line.
- 42:51Well, I might be wrong, but I thought wholesale meant that you
- 42:57It's not as if you just put it in one store.
- 43:00You are correct. And so that was weird to me.
- 43:03And also obviously the whole thing of it being a destination
- 43:06for anyone to go to. It's, it feels to me as if maybe
- 43:14But who's going? Oh, my husband wants to go to
- 43:17Vegas next year. And I'm so excited because when
- 43:19we, when we go, I'm going to go to this family friendly casino
- 43:24because it's cheaper there than on the website.
- 43:27What it just I I. We're going to drive all the way
- 43:35before, to go and see the mermaids.
- 43:37But no, no, no, no, not just the mermaids.
- 43:40We need to get our sister wives jewelry.
- 43:43Well. That's why I always say I go to
- 43:45Silverton. To get some silver.
- 43:48To wrap up this lovely scene, Kody decides that he's going to
- 43:52look around guilt because, you know, maybe he's got a little
- 43:55inner guilt. Maybe he wants to do a little
- 43:57gender bending and then all of a sudden he sees an apron, A
- 44:01frilly, frilly apron, and thinks I'm going to put it on and make
- 44:06fun of myself. And I didn't care at all.
- 44:09But it happened. And you know, the whole play on,
- 44:19No, he says that the women love to downplay his masculinity any
- 44:23chance they get. Womp womp again, masculinity
- 44:28talk and this guy and. This guy.
- 44:34This guy just showboating again, trying to be all cute.
- 44:37See, you know, maybe they should make aprons.
- 44:39Maybe they actually would sell aprons.
- 44:41This is it. The apron is a far better idea
- 44:45At this point, yeah, it it sure is.
- 44:49Yeah, especially after Kody models it on the show, right?
- 44:53Add some ruffles. Add some thrills, some frills,
- 45:04Christine, Hercules, Hercules and Robyn.
- 45:08You know, because we always rely on Robyn.
- 45:10Not only is she the moral compass, but she's the
- 45:13intellectual lighthouse for all of us.
- 45:15And she tells the camera this is another opportunity for us.
- 45:19And if it doesn't work out, we'll need to go back to the
- 45:23drawing board for my sister wife's closet.
- 45:25And yeah, you will, because it didn't work selling it on the
- 45:31website. It doesn't work selling at
- 45:32Expos. And now you're going to
- 45:35wholesale distribute exclusively to 1 store inside a casino that
- 45:38no one's ever heard of. I think you're going to be going
- 45:43That's my guess. I don't know, I could be wrong.
- 45:46To me, at Reeks of we went into
- 45:48this wholesale idea thinking we would sell to local casinos and
- 45:53we've been striking out, so now we're going to say it's
- 45:56exclusively at Silverton. At guilt on Silverton, I feel
- 46:03like there's probably some sort of way that you would say it to
- 46:05make it sound even more exclusive.
- 46:08Oh, you know, the guilt inside
- 46:10That's where our jewellery is sold.
- 46:11This is ridiculous. Oh yeah.
- 46:15Our Part 2 of the episode starts
- 46:18favorite gym rat to the gym for their weekly weigh in and
- 46:23meeting with Sean. And of course I'm speaking about
- 46:26Janelle. Janelle Brown in her leg warmers
- 46:30in that high cut onesie or leotard with the sweat band and
- 46:37the hair pulled back. She's going to the gym.
- 46:40She did have a sweat band under her bangs in segments of this.
- 46:45Oh good. Which was pretty funny.
- 46:48Yeah, it kind of caught me off
- 46:51She's she's working out, she's
- 46:53lose that weight. But as she's approaching the
- 46:55gym, there's a voiceover from her talking about how she's
- 46:58really plateaued on her weight
- 47:00And we've been on this journey
- 47:02She has lost weight, plateaued.
- 47:05Of course, Shawn, her trainer, has really tried to emphasize,
- 47:15He's really trying to emphasize that.
- 47:17And she's still hung up on that damn scale.
- 47:20Yeah, she reiterates that she has no scale at home.
- 47:24She was tempted to buy one after their smashing of her scale, but
- 47:32Yeah. She fought that temptation her.
- 47:34Cheapness went out.
- 47:35That's very Robyn coated, right?
- 47:37Right. Like Robyn would be like.
- 47:38I got to go buy another scale. And Janelle controlled herself.
- 47:42She mentions that her first diet
- 47:45that she ever started was at age
- 47:49break the mindset of not looking at the number on the scale
- 47:52because it started for her at age 8.
- 47:56That struck me as so dramatic and early, and maybe it's not,
- 48:04But my gosh, to be thinking about dieting at 8 years old,
- 48:07maybe that's normal. I don't know.
- 48:10It's definitely not OK, which makes me wonder what else is at
- 48:15play here. There is a factor of control
- 48:18that comes in with dieting for a lot of people, having control
- 48:22over your life, control over your food, your diet for the
- 48:26moment, that's the case with a lot of eating disorders, is just
- 48:34that you can control. So I wonder about the psychology
- 48:45I just feel like there's so much more to her story, and I want to
- 48:57She gives us these tiny tidbits like dieting at age 8.
- 49:01Right, Which to me seems extreme.
- 49:03And you agree that it seems extreme.
- 49:04It is. Extreme.
- 49:05Right. So it's just mentioned and then
- 49:08kind of glossed over, although it is partnered with, like you
- 49:16obsessed with the scale and she even refers to it as
- 49:19devastating. When the number doesn't change,
- 49:21it's. Devastating for her.
- 49:23I mean, oh, I feel so bad for her.
- 49:28And I wonder if at 8 years old, you know, if you're a chubby
- 49:33little person and you're missing an element of control.
- 49:36I mean, yeah, I know. I don't.
- 49:38Know are you getting picked on? Is it familial people picking on
- 49:51feel. But no, you know what?
- 49:53That's wrong because a lot of moms put pressure, unnecessary
- 50:00themselves. So I don't know.
- 50:01I don't know what it is. It's odd to me.
- 50:04And I want to hear more about her story.
- 50:07I don't want it to be one of those stories, though.
- 50:12Where where she's glossing over things.
- 50:15I want her to be ready to tell her story and I want her to do
- 50:21if Janelle decides to write a book, I hope she gives us all of
- 50:29gritty into her childhood and why she's struggled with her
- 50:32weight because she's brought it up so much in the show.
- 50:35I think it would be beneficial to people who have followed the
- 50:38show for a long time. And I think this is something
- 50:40that a lot of women deal with and.
- 50:42I agree with you that Janelle's story would be very interesting
- 50:46to hear if it was told thoroughly and truthfully.
- 50:50You know, obviously you don't want to put too much pressure on
- 50:54Sherry's story but a gloss over story?
- 50:56Fuck that. I hear you.
- 50:58You don't want to hear a Meri's version of a story, you would
- 51:00want to hear the truth. Yeah, I think I think back to
- 51:05the Britney Spears memoir that was released and the fact that
- 51:19that memoir wasn't great and it was a waste of her time.
- 51:23And she should have waited 10 plus more years until she's
- 51:26settled and in the right headspace to write it.
- 51:29And I want that so badly from Janelle.
- 51:32So if by chance you hear this, Janelle, please, Please wait
- 51:37until you are fully ready to Share your story, to Share your
- 51:41story. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 51:43We hear from Sean that he thinks she is neurotic about the scale
- 51:52and she has lost inches and Sean doesn't like how she is
- 51:58still so fixated on this scale.
- 52:00He is frustrated with her. I feel like he mentioned that
- 52:04she recently has lost 10 inches overall, but in the last month
- 52:08alone, 2 1/2 inches. So that's obviously significant
- 52:13regardless of what the scale is saying.
- 52:15I mean, she's losing literal physical body mass, so whatever
- 52:19the scale saying, you know. She tells him that she was
- 52:22thinking of buying another scale
- 52:25didn't. Obviously she is being neurotic
- 52:27about the scale. I'm glad he's busting her balls
- 52:30about it because don't get another fucking scale, girl.
- 52:32As we find out, she's doing weekly check INS anyway.
- 52:35Weigh ends at the gym with him.
- 52:36That's enough. And if she's not able to manage
- 52:39that, that's something to evaluate and to work on.
- 52:41You can weigh yourself once a week and have that be, you know.
- 52:47She Tees it up that she gets very antsy when they're going to
- 52:51do these weigh insurance once a month, but then we find out
- 52:53that they're doing them weekly, so there's no need to get so
- 52:57worked up. And if she really truly feels
- 52:59the need to weigh herself every morning and is getting that
- 53:02worked up about a weekly weigh
- 53:06should be seeing a therapist at this point.
- 53:08And Sean refers her to a nutritionist and wants her to
- 53:13meet with a nutritionist. I hope that there has been some
- 53:17discussion about seeing a therapist as well and that we
- 53:21just haven't seen that because
- 53:26Therapy is not as mainstream probably in 2013 as it is today.
- 53:31So hopefully that was brought up
- 53:34I mean, I agree that it sounds
- 53:37speak to somebody about more than just a trainer.
- 53:40Not to put any trainers down, but I think it needs some more
- 53:44evaluation. So Sean talks about how he
- 53:46really does want her to meet with a nutritionist and to
- 53:50involve the family more so to start getting behind the meal
- 53:53planning and involving the family in the meal time and
- 53:58nutrition aspect. He set up a meeting with a
- 54:01nutritionist named Lisa to review her food choices and
- 54:05maybe put that plan into action,
- 54:08making some better choices. Yeah, he says that since they've
- 54:11been working together, Janelle
- 54:14that she is curious about the fact that potentially there
- 54:17could be food allergies or other
- 54:21So we are going to meet Lisa. We find out Lisa has a trade
- 54:28name. Oh yeah.
- 54:30Kettlebell bombshell. Kettlebell bombshell.
- 54:34Janelle has very good descriptive words for Lisa.
- 54:37Oh. She is tall and statuesque and
- 54:41very intimidating. And I thought, I'm not so sure
- 54:46about the bombshell part, but I am a critical gay man and an
- 54:49asshole, so take it as it is. Is she tall?
- 54:52Sure. Is she statuesque?
- 54:54Yes, like a Greek God. She definitely is a kettlebell.
- 55:02My first thought upon seeing Lisa is that I miss old beauty
- 55:06standards. I miss normal people being
- 55:09beautiful. Yeah, I see her and I think of
- 55:13what Janelle was thinking at the
- 55:17And I'm like God, what happened to individuality and
- 55:20individuals being pretty for being themselves and having
- 55:24unique features? Oh God, we're so good cop, bad
- 55:28cop right now. I'm like, she's not a bombshell.
- 55:30And you're like, she looks like a person.
- 55:33She has features. I love that Janelle is saying
- 55:37she is a bombshell and that she was intimidated by her and
- 55:39she's so beautiful. And then we see her and I'm
- 55:41like, yay, a normal woman. That's pretty normal.
- 55:47Yeah. God, Can you imagine today if
- 55:49they were introducing Lisa the
- 55:56big old puffed up lips and her
- 56:00else? And she'd be.
- 56:01Kardashianized or whatever it's called.
- 56:03Yeah, we don't get that from Lisa and I appreciate it.
- 56:06Thank you, Lisa. Lisa's Real and Lisa talks about
- 56:10the importance of nutritional value of food and aligning that
- 56:14to Janelle's weight loss goals.
- 56:15Yeah, Lisa shares with us that the workout shapes the body, but
- 56:23I think many people who have worked out or met with a
- 56:28nutritionist or worked with a trainer have probably heard that
- 56:38she's guessing that a 1500 calorie diet makes sense for
- 56:41Janelle, where she currently is and with her working out and all
- 56:48recipes. She gives her a meal plan, she
- 56:51hands her some papers, and I'm
- 56:54shopping list and all of that involved.
- 56:57And Janelle's a little intimidated, a little nervous
- 57:00about it. I have to say, when I went to a
- 57:04gym and got a meal plan myself, it was a relief.
- 57:08And as a mom, meal time is the
- 57:14I hate it so much and I often think I should go back to meal
- 57:20planning and planning the week
- 57:24my husband and I don't know why I don't.
- 57:27I don't know why I don't. Well, because you have a husband
- 57:30that cooks regularly as well, Darling, he does do that.
- 57:33Well, that was only for you. Well, and then when you cook,
- 57:37you know that ketchup on those
- 57:40just, it's great. Connie, don't, don't sell
- 57:43yourself short. You don't need a meal plan.
- 57:46Ramen noodles with ketchup Spaghetti you mean, right?
- 57:50Yes, almost as good as Robyn's.
- 57:53And while this is being reviewed, Lisa, Janelle,
- 57:56etcetera, what she's going to do.
- 57:58There's this cutaway to Janelle prepping some food or doing
- 58:00something in the kitchen. And it was great to see.
- 58:03There's like a pile of lettuce and a pile of diced up tomatoes
- 58:06and all this stuff. And I was like, it made me a
- 58:08little excited. It made me think I should do
- 58:11that. Janelle is looking good by the
- 58:16throughout this segment doing different workouts with her
- 58:19sweatband under her bangs and whipping them chains.
- 58:23The giant ropes. Giant ropes.
- 58:26Chains. The chains.
- 58:27She's breaking free of her chains.
- 58:29Breaking free of that scale and she's doing that Stairmaster and
- 58:38fierce. You know, there was 1 moment
- 58:40where she was like up on her arms and I don't know what she
- 58:45something and it was she was holding up her body.
- 58:47It was very different from when we first saw her working out
- 58:50where she was struggling to walk on a treadmill and shit.
- 58:53Like she was really, really, really struggling with anything
- 58:56physical when she started. When she had to push herself out
- 59:00And Janelle tells us that she hopes she gets the same payoff
- 59:07And I hope so too, Janelle. I am curious because if there is
- 59:20has not already. Yeah, because I think so many
- 59:24women struggle with this weight situation and hormones are a
- 59:30bitch. I've heard they can make you one
- 59:50meaningless time at Robyn's, going to another wives or just
- 1:00:00Little picnic in a basket. They are going to go to Red Rock
- 1:00:10Meri's nervous. She's not sure how he's going to
- 1:00:15I wonder what they're going to talk about.
- 1:00:18Kody says we're going to talk about if we're going to take
- 1:00:23scientific measures for baby making, I'm I'm paraphrasing.
- 1:00:27As they're arriving at Red Rock Canyon, Kody jokes.
- 1:00:33Would it bother you if I've been here with another woman?
- 1:00:38Meri says. Well, it does know that he said
- 1:00:41that. Yeah.
- 1:00:43Oh, my God. Typical man, putting his foot in
- 1:00:47Kody does need help from doing, you know, preventing doing this
- 1:00:50because he is just out of control.
- 1:00:51All of them have been there. So just a bad joke.
- 1:00:55And he's an idiot. Robyn and him go on the Fedora
- 1:01:01Place. I think he's been there with all
- 1:01:05brought, you know, and she feels special.
- 1:01:06And I'm going to give Robyn props here because she at least
- 1:01:10wore the right footwear. Wow.
- 1:01:14Meri is wearing clogs for climbing and they have a wooden
- 1:01:20heel on them. They're not just some
- 1:01:23Birkenstock flat clogs. No, they are heeled wooden
- 1:01:27clogs. Straight from Sweden or wherever
- 1:01:34No, they're not from Sweden. Where are they?
- 1:01:36Dutch. Dutch.
- 1:01:37They're Dutch. Clogs.
- 1:01:39So she's wearing her Dutch clogs, and they're going on a
- 1:01:42hike up a place called Red Rock Canyon, and I'm going Mayor,
- 1:01:45mayor, mayor, mayor, mayor. I always thought you were a
- 1:01:48little smarter than this. I mean, it literally was.
- 1:01:51I was scoffing because it was ridiculous.
- 1:01:53Meri is going Oh my Oh my, he's trying to get her to climb up
- 1:02:01this thing with her clod hoppers.
- 1:02:03Click, click, click, click. Meri has a voice over where she
- 1:02:06says he seems to be in a good mood.
- 1:02:08I was like, Oh my God, this is
- 1:02:11Meri's going into it like I'm wearing my clogs.
- 1:02:14Kody's in a good mood. We're going to talk about this
- 1:02:16baby decision. I've got a picnic.
- 1:02:18Things are great. I'm wearing a scarf.
- 1:02:20You can barely see my neck. My head is popping out of that,
- 1:02:23looking crazy. She's on her way up the side of
- 1:02:26that hill. Slowly but surely, she'll get
- 1:02:28there. She'd have been better off
- 1:02:30climbing up that thing barefoot,
- 1:02:33They they show multiple moments of her kind of, you know, I'm
- 1:02:36going to, I'm going to get my OK.
- 1:02:37I'm sturdy. I'm sturdy at the table.
- 1:02:39My name is Mayor. I'm here, I'm here.
- 1:02:40And it's like, OK, girl, you should have just worn some
- 1:02:42tennis shoes, but whatever. When they finally get planted on
- 1:02:45the big rock, they sit down. I'm envisioning them sitting
- 1:02:49crisscross applesauce. I don't think they were, but you
- 1:02:53know, they're just having a great time.
- 1:02:54Kody throws down that blanket,
- 1:02:57them. She's got her basket but we
- 1:03:00don't get to see them enjoying
- 1:03:02discussion of the baby has come up before they get to eat.
- 1:03:06We do get a beautiful aerial shot from up above somehow with
- 1:03:11all the red rocks around them and them sitting on the blanket.
- 1:03:14I don't recall if they were crisscross applesauce or not,
- 1:03:17but they did give us an aerial
- 1:03:19Yeah, and it is pretty. I love that part of the country.
- 1:03:21It is really pretty, yeah, and
- 1:03:25clogs there? But whatever, she could have
- 1:03:28borrowed some of Robyn's sneakers.
- 1:03:30She did borrow Robyn her long ass skirt for the last episode,
- 1:03:35you know. With the hydrangeas on it.
- 1:03:37So she could have asked for some
- 1:03:40whatever. When they start into the deep
- 1:03:43discussion about their potential
- 1:03:47he thinks about this potential baby decision.
- 1:03:50She says she hopes he has an open disposition, which is a big
- 1:03:55word for her. I thought that was pretty great.
- 1:03:58And then Kody has to reply, and,
- 1:04:03a turn for even worse than the
- 1:04:06mountain. Kody has a really weird thought
- 1:04:11process on this and it's hard to
- 1:04:15what he's trying to do is put the blame back on nature and
- 1:04:22God. He's kind of half assing saying
- 1:04:26what he means here. He says that because nature or
- 1:04:35feeling in our gut that we should do it, He hams and haws
- 1:04:50body, the responsibility of the choice lies more on your
- 1:04:55shoulders. And he's like, I'm not trying to
- 1:05:02the baby for nine months, dot dot, dot.
- 1:05:05Like we get where he's going with this.
- 1:05:08He's kind of blaming the fact that nature hasn't taken over or
- 1:05:16He's like passing the buck. They're passing it back and
- 1:05:20forth here. This whole conversation does
- 1:05:22come across to me as a not willing to just say what you
- 1:05:26want to say. You know, it's, it reads to me
- 1:05:31But instead of just coming out and saying it, he's doing this
- 1:05:37And you have to carry it. And it's a little nonsensical.
- 1:05:45And he says, it's not my gut burning.
- 1:05:49It's telling me that I have to do this.
- 1:05:52It's just not in my gut. And then Meri kind of says
- 1:05:56again, well, do you want to or not?
- 1:05:59Like she's trying to get him just to be clear with his
- 1:06:03answer, and he's not giving it to her yet.
- 1:06:07And then he says, I would do it if nature or if God or if it
- 1:06:12just happened, like, yeah, no problem.
- 1:06:14Because of the stakes and the fact that it's not burning up in
- 1:06:23I just say no. Right.
- 1:06:26What? In between these sentences, he's
- 1:06:33plague. I was very attuned to his
- 1:06:36nonverbals in this, and he was looking everywhere but at her.
- 1:06:44And then when going back to saying things, he would look
- 1:06:46away. He didn't actually want to look
- 1:06:47at her while he was saying these
- 1:06:51pointing to what we already know.
- 1:06:53And at one point after he said I would do it if nature or God
- 1:06:58just did it, he literally clears his throat as if he's struggling
- 1:07:06the sentences together because he's trying to lead or mislead
- 1:07:12with what he's actually thinking and feeling.
- 1:07:14He keeps saying it's not burning me up in the gut, it's not
- 1:07:18giving me that gut feeling and God in nature and I did write
- 1:07:23down word for word there and he just keeps saying that.
- 1:07:26And she is trying to get it out of him.
- 1:07:29And because of the stakes, like, OK, we get it.
- 1:07:34OK, come out and say it. And then Meri throws us for a
- 1:07:42bloop here and she says, well, if you want, I'm willing to do
- 1:07:52Kody says what are you talking about?
- 1:07:54What do you mean? We have plenty of information.
- 1:08:02I'm. Confused.
- 1:08:04We're all confused. We've gone to the doctor.
- 1:08:07I thought we'd done the research.
- 1:08:09I thought we had done the tests. Meri, why are you saying just
- 1:08:13now that you're willing to do the tests?
- 1:08:15I think she's trying to put the blame on Kody here, and he's not
- 1:08:23They're playing the hot potato game, passing this back and
- 1:08:27forth, and neither one of them is just clearly coming out and
- 1:08:32willing to do some tests again. I thought we were here to make
- 1:08:38We knew they were lying before about the efforts that they had
- 1:08:41made for her to get pregnant because of the obscure,
- 1:08:45generalized way that they would talk about the things that they
- 1:08:49did, you know, referencing fertility treatments.
- 1:08:51And yet we're going, we've watched this for five years, and
- 1:09:02seemed like it was their first? It was their first.
- 1:09:05It was a concentration. It wasn't even a real
- 1:09:07appointment. She was asking them how much
- 1:09:08they were fucking. Yeah, like she was trying to get
- 1:09:19No, it was all a lie and a sham. What a shock with this family.
- 1:09:25when Kody asks what she's even talking about.
- 1:09:28And I didn't really follow that either.
- 1:09:30I I felt like it was very broad and just, I don't even know.
- 1:09:34He is baffled and he says I'm checking myself.
- 1:09:37I'm checking myself to see if I'm copping out here.
- 1:09:41Which, of course you are. Kody, that's exactly what you're
- 1:09:51So you're saying no what? Sit on a no for a little bit and
- 1:10:01Right now I'm thinking no and Meri goes.
- 1:10:09After Kody talks about sitting
- 1:10:13finally saying no, Meri starts
- 1:10:16She says maybe let's and Kody interrupts and says right now
- 1:10:21I'm thinking no. And I thought it was very
- 1:10:23telling that immediately after
- 1:10:26that he's at a no, she starts doing the hot potato action.
- 1:10:31Well, maybe let's and he goes,
- 1:10:34didn't even let her finish the
- 1:10:37demonstrates to me that he does not want to be committal.
- 1:10:41He does not want to actually say
- 1:10:43And now he finally has, you know, he doesn't want to be
- 1:10:45responsible for saying no. And now he finally has.
- 1:10:47And so she's they're, they're just so fucked up.
- 1:10:50This is what they do, Meri. Well, maybe blah, blah, blah.
- 1:10:53And he's cut her off. No, we're not doing it and it
- 1:10:57seems like a long term thing for
- 1:10:58I imagine this is how so many of
- 1:11:02arguments go. Neither one of them can be very
- 1:11:04clear. Once one of them decides to, the
- 1:11:07other one pushes back. And then in this case, it's Meri
- 1:11:10and Kody's Just no, it is done.
- 1:11:12Leading up to this, I thought Meri was going to go into this
- 1:11:19I think in this very moment that Meri is changing her mind.
- 1:11:23Again, Yes, I think so too. I think we're seeing in real
- 1:11:27time because she goes after, he says.
- 1:11:29Right now I'm thinking no, she goes like she's thinking.
- 1:11:32She puts her hand on her face and then it cuts to an interview
- 1:11:50And I've got to think of where that place is for me now.
- 1:11:54And the way that she says he and all his other wives is telling
- 1:12:07displaced. It's just very bizarre because
- 1:12:18And then all of a sudden we're backtracking.
- 1:12:21Then she's triggered into, is that the final thing?
- 1:12:24Maybe, You know, I sense that that's what's happening when you
- 1:12:31but you haven't made your choice.
- 1:12:32So then you're like, but, but, but maybe not.
- 1:12:33You know, that does happen. And I just think with them, it's
- 1:12:40They are just never going to truly come to this decision
- 1:12:44together. At the same time, it's like
- 1:12:46wrong place, wrong time constantly with them, with this.
- 1:12:54episode so many times because it
- 1:12:57The quotes were all over the place.
- 1:12:59There were a lot of dot dot dot moments, a lot of the same
- 1:13:04things being kind of repeated in
- 1:13:08It was a bizarre conversation.
- 1:13:12After Meri's voice over interview moment, Kody says
- 1:13:15let's sit on it as the no. If it's a no, are you waking up
- 1:13:20at night crying over not having a baby?
- 1:13:24Let's sit on that. Let's sit on the no.
- 1:13:28There's these silences, these moments between these things
- 1:13:31that you were, you know, you were as you were talking about,
- 1:13:33just kind of this uncommittal,
- 1:13:38no. So I guess we're not.
- 1:13:41And after he does this final, let's sit on the no.
- 1:13:45They embrace and hug. Well, there's this sad piano
- 1:13:50music playing. They kiss and hug like they've
- 1:13:54made a decision. Right.
- 1:13:55And it's so weird. It's my take away was that I
- 1:13:58guess they landed at no. Well then, Meri says.
- 1:14:03Now that we've made this decision, we have to let Leon
- 1:14:07know. Of course.
- 1:14:08I'm like, bitch, what decision?
- 1:14:10No, I guess. Kody said no more times than he
- 1:14:14said yes. Or maybe so I guess it's a no.
- 1:14:21Right. Well, I just so badly wish that
- 1:14:25I could interject, push pause on these guys, stand next to
- 1:14:29them and be like Meri. What Kody is saying that is that
- 1:14:36intervene scientifically in your womb.
- 1:14:38The answer is no. Right.
- 1:14:40Can we just clearly say this hasn't happened naturally for
- 1:14:44us? And so I really am leaning
- 1:14:47towards no. And I think that we need to call
- 1:14:53Well, right. And I think the reason that it's
- 1:14:58Kody's not in love with Meri. It's obvious to me in this
- 1:15:03scene, and maybe it's not obvious to other people.
- 1:15:06Maybe I'm jumping to too much of a conclusion.
- 1:15:08I think that when Kody can't make eye contact with her, it's
- 1:15:12because he is no longer in love with her.
- 1:15:15I think he almost resents her. I think he's definitely not
- 1:15:20interested in reproducing with her.
- 1:15:22And another tie in to keep them together like a child being
- 1:15:27born. That's at least another 18 years
- 1:15:36And I do not have the same thing
- 1:15:38with you. And Meri does talk about that a
- 1:15:40bit moving forward here, about
- 1:15:44thing? And he loves that she's in that
- 1:15:46fucking position. He does not want to be committed
- 1:15:50to her in any way other than this religious dogmatic
- 1:15:53obligation that they have and that she brings in a paycheck.
- 1:15:57I'm convinced of it. I know that I might sound like a
- 1:16:01conspiracy theorist in a nut job, and maybe even in our
- 1:16:03previous episodes. I haven't hounded on it enough.
- 1:16:07He's not in love with her. I don't think he's in love with
- 1:16:10her. I think he fell out of love with
- 1:16:11her a while ago. I would also add that there's a
- 1:16:13financial aspect here that if you get science involved and if
- 1:16:17you do the in vitro route, we know that they're not on any
- 1:16:21sort of insurance through somebody's employer, right?
- 1:16:25I guess we don't know that, but they're probably paying out the
- 1:16:29ass for insurance and he is thinking this would all be out
- 1:16:33of pocket. This doesn't financially make
- 1:16:36sense. And to top it off, I have
- 1:16:38someone else with a perfectly good womb.
- 1:16:42Why would I be doing this with
- 1:16:45I can go and have another baby
- 1:16:48This is part of the whole preview that we've been seeing
- 1:16:51of him falling out of love, quote, UN quote with all of his
- 1:16:54other wives because he's got Robyn.
- 1:16:56And maybe with the other ones,
- 1:16:59or it hasn't made such an impact
- 1:17:02But to me, this is a big one going, yeah, he doesn't love
- 1:17:06you. I don't think he was talking to
- 1:17:08her as if he was in love with her.
- 1:17:10This conversation was not married people in love.
- 1:17:13And we've joked about Meri having her conversations with
- 1:17:15other people. I think ultimately she's OK with
- 1:17:19this decision, but I think she
- 1:17:22being OK with it. 100%, yeah. She can put the blame elsewhere
- 1:17:27now. He finally came out and said it.
- 1:17:30She doesn't have to be the bad
- 1:17:33She doesn't have to be the bad
- 1:17:35wives. We're going to find out real
- 1:17:38quickly here that she's already blaming him, Meri.
- 1:17:42In a recent episode where you asked, oh, is this teeing up so
- 1:17:46that we can have another disappointment for Leon?
- 1:17:48Well, here we go girl. You called it and here it is.
- 1:17:52Yeah, Meri says that Kody's reasons make complete sense.
- 1:17:57It just makes me kind of sad, like, you know, all right, it's
- 1:18:01done. Yeah.
- 1:18:04I think we all knew. And you knew it was done long
- 1:18:08before hiking your clogged ass
- 1:18:12rocks. OK.
- 1:18:15We didn't need to see hoof it up
- 1:18:19Maybe if she would have shown a little, you know, collarbone or
- 1:18:22a little wrist action she could have.
- 1:18:24Ankle on top of them Claws this is.
- 1:18:26It she could have reminded him
- 1:18:30Imagine seeing her from behind
- 1:18:33Like just hoofing it up there vertically.
- 1:18:38Oh, mayor. Oh.
- 1:18:39Poor thing. She also says that I'm hoping
- 1:18:42this is time to recreate our relationship and figure out who
- 1:18:46we are now. So she's using the talking
- 1:18:48points of what the next steps are and she's wrestling with the
- 1:18:51empty nest stuff and all of these things.
- 1:18:54It's almost like she's got a matrix of decisions and what
- 1:18:57they mean, and she's trying to
- 1:19:02decisions on any of them. I'm a victim.
- 1:19:04No matter what happens. I'm trying to figure it all out.
- 1:19:07Meanwhile, I don't know that she's so indecisive.
- 1:19:10I think she just likes playing
- 1:19:13Because now she gets to play the
- 1:19:15Yeah, and now she gets to play
- 1:19:19Leon's disappointment. And as you said, talking to the
- 1:19:23other wives. And so now we get to have that
- 1:19:25conversation, the first one we
- 1:19:28Robyn, her good friend Robyn, her closest sister, wife Robyn.
- 1:19:33Yeah, we go to Robyn's house and
- 1:19:37Meri's. Strolling across the street.
- 1:19:40Going to have a conversation. Meri called her up and wanted to
- 1:19:46Going to walk over there and have a little talk.
- 1:19:50I just don't even get it. I'm like going to walk over
- 1:19:53there and have a little talk. Why was this necessary?
- 1:19:55Why is this in there? Why do they keep these lines in
- 1:19:59from these people? I guess it's because, like you
- 1:20:05And so they're probably prompting her.
- 1:20:06Robyn, what are you doing right now?
- 1:20:08And she says, going to walk over there and have a little talk.
- 1:20:12What the fuck? Oh my God.
- 1:20:15We have to get the flashback to the offer of surrogacy though.
- 1:20:35Meri, while you're all emotional
- 1:20:39going to offer my. Womb, we can take a part of you
- 1:20:43and a part of Kody and put it inside of me and God can make it
- 1:20:48grow into a beautiful baby. OK, she didn't say that, but she
- 1:20:52did say a part of Kody and a part of Meri together something,
- 1:20:56and it was disturbing, very disturbing.
- 1:20:58Oh, Meri feels that she owes it to Robyn to have this
- 1:21:02discussion with her. Because they have such a close
- 1:21:04relationship. Yes, she says.
- 1:21:06I figured I should tell you about our conversation.
- 1:21:10So Kody and I have talked and we've mutually decided to not go
- 1:21:15forward with it. Before she tells Robyn that in
- 1:21:18her voice over moment, she says it would have been kind of cool
- 1:21:22to raise kids together and I once again would have been kind
- 1:21:26of cool. Bitch, what are you doing?
- 1:21:28Oh my God, it's like she's 17 or
- 1:21:31No, no, no, she's 14. Pregnancy Pack.
- 1:21:34It would be kind of cool if we
- 1:21:37Oh my God. Which we've talked about before.
- 1:21:40Like, aren't you? Isn't that what you're doing?
- 1:21:43Isn't that what you and all the other wives are doing with all
- 1:21:45of your 17 children? Raising them together?
- 1:21:49It's hard with that ungrateful
- 1:21:53But then Meri kind of goes backwards in what she literally
- 1:21:57just said, and she says she went
- 1:22:03with intentions of starting proceedings, but Kody basically
- 1:22:09said no. Robyn goes to through the
- 1:22:12conversation you are feeling and
- 1:22:16He said no. And then there's a Dun Dun.
- 1:22:19And there's multiple interruptions in these
- 1:22:21conversations, which I think are
- 1:22:24don't allow each other to actually finish their thoughts
- 1:22:27so they can imply what a conclusion could be or usher
- 1:22:30them to a decision. And it's just bizarre.
- 1:22:33Robyn, he said no. It's like we're watching a bad
- 1:22:37sitcom that was written with nobody in the know and we're
- 1:22:42just the omniscient character watching this play out and no
- 1:22:47one's on the same page ever. Absolutely, Absolutely.
- 1:22:51What is happening? Is this real life?
- 1:22:56It's supposed to be reality TV, apparently.
- 1:22:59I do really think that this is
- 1:23:02communicate that little oh God
- 1:23:07saying, well, I went up there and I was going to say yes and
- 1:23:11now Kody. He said no, as if you don't know
- 1:23:16what Kody was going to say. Robyn.
- 1:23:18Oh. Robyn had no idea what Kody was
- 1:23:19going to say. Oh, I believe that.
- 1:23:22Please. So after Robyn interrupts by
- 1:23:25asking if he said no and Meri says yes, Robyn asks if she
- 1:23:29thinks this is the right answer.
- 1:23:31And because you know, these people are just, they have such
- 1:23:34a way with words. Meri says I don't know, it just
- 1:23:38is what it is right now. So once again, no real
- 1:23:42direction, no confirmation or affirmation.
- 1:23:45It just is what it is right now. And this is where we get another
- 1:23:58would be different, but she is the empty nester alone.
- 1:24:02And then we go back to Robyn and Robyn says.
- 1:24:07I feel like I dragged something up when I offered.
- 1:24:12I feel like you guys had kind of let it go.
- 1:24:16I'm sorry if I did. And I didn't know if this was
- 1:24:22authentic or not. What was your take?
- 1:24:24Because I was, I, I never really believed Robyn.
- 1:24:27But then when she was talking, I'm going, does she really feel
- 1:24:30bad about bringing this up? Because a normal person would
- 1:24:33feel bad if they genuinely thought, oh, I thought you guys
- 1:24:35put this to bed. I thought it was to rest.
- 1:24:37And now I brought it up and you've been going back and forth
- 1:24:41You're hurt, you know. What did you think?
- 1:24:44Yeah, I think it's so disingenuous because Robyn keeps
- 1:24:50and kind of like, grimacing. Yeah.
- 1:24:52Like she can't handle Meri's emotion because Meri is crying
- 1:24:57Yeah. And you know, we all know how
- 1:24:59pretty of a crier Meri is. And.
- 1:25:02Just like me. Right.
- 1:25:04We can just tell that Robyn's uncomfortable and she's like,
- 1:25:07oh, I feel like I drug something up.
- 1:25:10Oh, I'm so sorry. OK, OK.
- 1:25:14She's cringing backwards and making this grimace face as if
- 1:25:21And she says a part of me thinks that it would have been really
- 1:25:33But you know, I just don't ever do what everyone else does.
- 1:25:35And I don't do the cool thing just to do the cool thing.
- 1:25:41Because in their family, the cool thing is to push out as
- 1:25:43many babies as you can, you know?
- 1:25:45They talk about praying here and
- 1:25:50on it, if she's prayed to feel
- 1:25:54I've prayed to feel something and I just don't.
- 1:25:58Meri also talks about how she didn't want to have another baby
- 1:26:01just to replace Leon. You know, another supporting
- 1:26:04bullet point of trying to avoid the empty nest whatnot.
- 1:26:08And before Robyn had apologized to bringing up the surrogacy,
- 1:26:11she even references how with the
- 1:26:15and she is, that he's raising kids with his other wives.
- 1:26:20So another call in to how Kody
- 1:26:24other wives and she doesn't and she's doing this empty nest
- 1:26:28thing and he isn't. And so it's a divide for them.
- 1:26:31But it doesn't have to be that
- 1:26:33And it bothers me because now you've got all these freaking
- 1:26:37rooms that you had to have. You could have those kids over.
- 1:26:41You could have sleepovers at your house.
- 1:26:43Leon could be away at college.
- 1:26:46girls, let's have a little girl sleepover.
- 1:26:48Let's have a popcorn movie night.
- 1:26:50She's got that loft and that video game console up there.
- 1:26:53They were already up there at one point.
- 1:26:55Have it a weekly thing, have it every other day.
- 1:26:57Do it as much as you want. You're not going to have to be
- 1:27:00an empty nester, and that's the whole point of being a sister
- 1:27:03wife, isn't it? Thought so.
- 1:27:05Well, one of, you know, yes. Raising the kids.
- 1:27:07And then when you're an empty nester, you have a companion
- 1:27:09that's not your husband. Yeah.
- 1:27:11Kody's mom, stepmom, his dad's
- 1:27:15Refer to how they are good friends now that they had their
- 1:27:18problems and challenges with Kody's dad and starting a
- 1:27:22polygamous family. And then there was the
- 1:27:24children's stuff. And then when all that changes,
- 1:27:27they all of a sudden have these dynamics that are close
- 1:27:29friendships. So working on your relationships
- 1:27:32with the other sister wives and embracing their children and
- 1:27:35treating them as your own are the big things we thought.
- 1:27:39I thought that you were all going to live as Golden Girls
- 1:27:42when this was said and done, you
- 1:27:44Which ones? Meri.
- 1:27:46Meri's definitely the Dorothy.
- 1:27:51Sorry to say it, Dorothy. Sorry Dorothy, I love Dorothy.
- 1:27:54And so it's like, oh God, sorry honey, but it's.
- 1:27:57True. Oh gosh.
- 1:27:58Robyn's the Blanche. Oh.
- 1:28:00God, the little hussy. Of course.
- 1:28:03But Robyn could also be the no
- 1:28:06She's just a little dingy. She's Christine.
- 1:28:08Christine for sure. Yes, and I guess that means
- 1:28:12Janelle is. Of course.
- 1:28:15Oh yeah, totally, totally. Wise know it all right, Wise
- 1:28:19cracking behind the backs, you
- 1:28:22The cackle, the head throwback
- 1:28:25Sophia Go. Sicily.
- 1:28:27Yes, yes, picture it. Picture it. 2013 Red Rock
- 1:28:33Canyon. So silly.
- 1:28:37I'm loving it, goodness. But as Meri, you know, continues
- 1:28:41to share her feelings, Robyn tries to reassure her.
- 1:28:46But I, I just got a bunch of gobbledygook.
- 1:28:47I was like, Oh my God, Robyn, you just keep talking and it's a
- 1:28:50bunch of nothing. I don't know.
- 1:28:51Did any of it mean? Did any of it mean anything
- 1:28:54beyond her apologizing for the
- 1:28:58No, she doesn't even rub her back or anything like she's done
- 1:29:02before, Right? They're very distant.
- 1:29:04Meri's even sitting in a chair, I believe, and Robyn's sitting
- 1:29:07on a couch. And yeah.
- 1:29:10There is no sense of their friendship here.
- 1:29:15I agree. It's a weird interaction and
- 1:29:17Robyn's literally cringing through it.
- 1:29:21Faux reassuring her and it's ridiculous.
- 1:29:25Meri says at one point I'm on a different level.
- 1:29:28I don't want to have a child just to feel included.
- 1:29:33Yeah, that's not a good reason
- 1:29:38Totally. And Meri wraps up that
- 1:29:42conversation by saying, anyway, that's where I am right now.
- 1:29:46OK. And.
- 1:29:47It's so. I don't know.
- 1:29:48I'm from the Midwest. It sounds like the way my dad
- 1:29:51would end a conversation, let's say there's some sort of
- 1:29:53dispute, maybe I'm being reprimanded and I'm 1614,
- 1:29:56whatever. Anyway, that's where I am right
- 1:29:59now. Just kind of like, that's the
- 1:30:01end, I guess. Like we're just done now and
- 1:30:03that's that. OK.
- 1:30:04Yeah. Wrapping up production was
- 1:30:07tapping on the watch. Like, come on, you're not even
- 1:30:09sitting by each other. We got to wrap it up.
- 1:30:11Well it just makes it feel disingenuous that she was even
- 1:30:14crying because OK, to me saying and ending it that way just
- 1:30:20means that you already had come to this conclusion, so why are
- 1:30:23you lying now and saying that Kody is the one that did it and
- 1:30:27you had gone into it with a different mindset?
- 1:30:30It's just not adding up. It's just fishy.
- 1:30:32She cannot pick Elaine. She cannot pick Elaine.
- 1:30:36So after this lovely scene between two close sister wives
- 1:30:40comes where where we we're going.
- 1:30:42They're close and their sister
- 1:30:44It comes to an end. And of course, we get to end the
- 1:30:46episode with Kody. Well, actually there's Kody and
- 1:30:51then there's Meri. But Kody has to give us a
- 1:30:53wonderful sound bite as we're ushered into the end of this
- 1:30:56episode. Oh God, this one's, this one's
- 1:30:59real. This one's real.
- 1:31:00This one's a doozy. This one's a doozy, honey.
- 1:31:02Why don't, why don't you get us started and I'll, I'll pick it
- 1:31:04up when you when the man has to take over, OK?
- 1:31:09Kody says the great thing about being human and for her, the
- 1:31:15great thing about being a woman is that she can change her mind
- 1:31:21a million times. And I'm just going to say, hey,
- 1:31:25I like it that way. Oh.
- 1:31:27My God, it is so Shania Twain.
- 1:31:30Shit, I did not even notice that.
- 1:31:34Of course, it stood out to me that he had to emphasize that
- 1:31:36because she's a woman, that she could change her mind a million
- 1:31:40times and that he was just going
- 1:31:44I like it that. Way.
- 1:31:46I wonder if he really was inspired by Shania Twain with
- 1:31:50that. Seriously, that's so crazy.
- 1:31:53Seriously, I wrote. OK, Shania.
- 1:31:56Oh my God that is straight up lyrics from a fucking pop song.
- 1:32:00That is insane, Wow. He has a way with words.
- 1:32:05He really? Does I didn't know he wrote that
- 1:32:07song but. Shania should give him a little
- 1:32:10nod. I just want to see Kody in that
- 1:32:13leopard print, you know that. That don't impress me much.
- 1:32:15That look from when she's in the
- 1:32:17I. Literally have that costume.
- 1:32:19I was her for Halloween. One year, that's right, that's
- 1:32:21right. It would definitely one up the
- 1:32:23apron look from earlier in the.
- 1:32:24Episode we're going to put you in that costume and that's going
- 1:32:30Costume with the leg, honey. Just one more month or two of
- 1:32:34these extreme workouts I'm dealing and I'll be ready for
- 1:32:36it. I'll be skinny as a needle.
- 1:32:38Oh. And this is where Meri helps us
- 1:32:42wrap up this episode, this touching episode where
- 1:32:44apparently we made a decision. She wonders what her value is to
- 1:32:52And I thought, Meri, it's called a paycheck.
- 1:32:56Yeah, what value am I bringing to the family now?
- 1:33:00Helping raise the other kids. What you would think?
- 1:33:05Bringing in that bacon. Bringing in the bacon.
- 1:33:09That's that's definitely #1 crafting, crafting, standing
- 1:33:12over people while they're doing tasks and directing them member.
- 1:33:19If you want something done right, have Meri stand over you
- 1:33:22and watch. That's what I always say.
- 1:33:25You know, we need Meri, we need you here to supervise and
- 1:33:27everybody knows that to move furniture, right?
- 1:33:30She has so many reasons to be in
- 1:33:33justifiable reasons. Well, that's how that episode
- 1:33:36ends. We get the Next up on.
- 1:33:40The Next up on we rarely talk about the Next up on.
- 1:33:43So honey, I have a feeling you
- 1:33:46We have to talk about this one.
- 1:33:48We are going to get the panel on polygamy episode next, and we
- 1:33:53hear a little bit about how Christine's aunt is going to be
- 1:33:58there and how she's completely against polygamy.
- 1:34:01But for current time's sake, I noticed that we have a little
- 1:34:08person on that panel named Christine Marie, and she is the
- 1:34:13woman behind the Netflix documentary Trust Me, the False
- 1:34:18Prophet about Samuel Bateman that just came out.
- 1:34:21That's right, which I enjoyed watching.
- 1:34:23I thought it was good. It was good and I wanted to look
- 1:34:29Trust me. The False Prophet was filmed
- 1:34:32from 20/21 to 20/22. It was released this year, 2026.
- 1:34:38This panel episode aired September 15th of 2013, so
- 1:34:44almost 10 full years that Christine Marie has been working
- 1:34:50behind the scenes. Right, doing all of the.
- 1:34:53Doing all of this work. Yeah, at least that much time.
- 1:34:55At least, yeah. And we get a return of blonde
- 1:34:59haired beauty with the extreme
- 1:35:03Our favorite makeup artist, Colleen.
- 1:35:05Colleen. Oh, an inspiration to all.
- 1:35:09I'm looking forward to this episode because it's pretty
- 1:35:11good. It's pretty good.
- 1:35:13I've never seen it. I'm looking forward to it.
- 1:35:17Oh yeah, Christine's reaction to
- 1:35:19Oh, I can't wait. Trust we're going to need a
- 1:35:21drink for this. One cannot wait.
- 1:35:22It's a whole thing. It's a whole.
- 1:35:24Thing, yes. How exciting.
- 1:35:25Well, we made it through this one.
- 1:35:27We we find. Are we going to put Meri's baby
- 1:35:29decision to rest? Are we going to bury it in the
- 1:35:32backyard with Drake? With the bag.
- 1:35:35Oh yeah, and with the Igloo. Cooler, cooler, cooler, all the
- 1:35:40things that get buried in this
- 1:35:43Meri's baby decision. Sorry Mayor, you know what time
- 1:35:48it is, darling. Mustard seed and shit stain.
- 1:35:53Which one do you want to start
- 1:35:55Are you feeling high or are you feeling low?
- 1:35:57I think that this time around I'm going to start with my shit
- 1:36:02stain. Love it.
- 1:36:04And it's going to go to Meri. OK.
- 1:36:09It might be a little surprising,
- 1:36:13into the baby decision with her mind, made-up one way and
- 1:36:20flipped it to play the victim card.
- 1:36:24Yeah, most likely to get out of being blamed by Leon.
- 1:36:30Sure. And the rest of the family.
- 1:36:34And the wishy washyness and the pretending I can't get behind
- 1:36:39it. Yeah, we're six seasons in.
- 1:36:42You cannot tell me that at this point you really, truly thought
- 1:36:47you were going to sit your clogged ass down on the top of
- 1:36:58the medical proceedings for my womb, bitch.
- 1:37:03No. Yeah, Yeah.
- 1:37:05You cannot convince me that that was what you were actually
- 1:37:09thinking until he opened his fucking mouth.
- 1:37:12Right. Agreed.
- 1:37:13Agreed. And apparently they'd already
- 1:37:15gone through those processes. So at best she's a liar.
- 1:37:18And that's at best. It's just going to be simple
- 1:37:21cleaning cut for me this time around and that's that.
- 1:37:23I can't with this back and forth with them anymore.
- 1:37:27We're fucking done with it. Please.
- 1:37:29Yes, I heard a round of applause out in the distance.
- 1:37:33Everyone agrees. Yeah, my shit stain goes to her
- 1:37:36loving husband Kody Brown. And pretty cut and dry for me
- 1:37:40this episode as well. The necklaces idea, Trash fresh,
- 1:37:48whoever the hell their names were, Melissa and Matthew,
- 1:37:52whatever Something Enterprises people were there because they
- 1:37:58Unfortunately, they also did bring them to a family friendly
- 1:38:01casino to sell their wholesale jewelry in one store as an
- 1:38:04exclusive. I don't know.
- 1:38:05I don't know, but Kody's buying it all and Kody sucks.
- 1:38:09So the necklaces are terrible. But obviously the conversation
- 1:38:16spouse in the eye and have an honest conversation about how
- 1:38:21you're feeling about reproducing and bringing another life into
- 1:38:30I think he's not even in love with her anymore.
- 1:38:33I think he doesn't know what to do with her.
- 1:38:35I think he actually, the vibe, to me feels like he's almost
- 1:38:39irritated with her. And so he was just playing along
- 1:38:44producers that needed to be dragged out.
- 1:38:46And now it's coming to an end and he finally had to say no.
- 1:38:51And it was the weirdest no to get to because he can't be
- 1:38:56decisive. He doesn't want to disappoint
- 1:38:59her on camera. I don't know if they were off
- 1:39:01camera if it would have been different.
- 1:39:02If they were off camera, none of this would even be happening.
- 1:39:05So I don't know why I'm even posing that.
- 1:39:06Kody, you are a shit stain. Yeah, why couldn't he even
- 1:39:11clearly just say what he was alluding to and just say, well,
- 1:39:17it did not happen naturally? God is obviously not on our side
- 1:39:28science involved, right? If that is truly your religious
- 1:39:31beliefs, why not just come out and say that and just say no and
- 1:39:42God, it's so. Messy.
- 1:39:43I know, I know. And the signs are becoming more
- 1:39:46and more clear. The Reds are more red, the green
- 1:39:52yellow. It's like you speed up or do you
- 1:40:02everyone's waiting for the mustard seed.
- 1:40:04Everybody's waiting for the mustard seed.
- 1:40:07Everybody's waiting for the mustard seed.
- 1:40:09Can I give my mustard seed to somebody?
- 1:40:13Weird this time because I don't really think anyone deserved.
- 1:40:16It. Sure.
- 1:40:17There's nothing splendid going on here that I'm like, oh, you.
- 1:40:21Yeah, you deserve it.
- 1:40:23I'm going to give it to Gina because this poor woman, they
- 1:40:30tried to get her to say things
- 1:40:32I think the producers tried to
- 1:40:38her hardest. She really did.
- 1:40:40She kind of failed her husband
- 1:40:43of times. She also tried to stand up for
- 1:40:47the family in a weird way like
- 1:40:52behind weirdos like us vibes. And she does seem like she has
- 1:40:59good intentions with trying to
- 1:41:03jewelry endeavor and I'm just going to give it to her.
- 1:41:06They tried to tear up a few times to get some good quotes
- 1:41:10and this. Poor woman.
- 1:41:11Yeah, it was totally weird too
- 1:41:15aggressive nature in her response which wasn't fitting to
- 1:41:18what she was saying. Which is why they used it in a
- 1:41:20coming up on footage to make us think.
- 1:41:22They tried to trick. Us, she was going to talk shit
- 1:41:24about them when really she was
- 1:41:28Yeah, I kind of just feel bad for her because you can tell
- 1:41:31she's a nice person and it was
- 1:41:34They kind of did her dirty and I
- 1:41:37of not on TV. Doesn't know what to do.
- 1:41:39I know I kind of felt bad for her because you can tell that
- 1:41:42she was trying. Yeah, she really was.
- 1:41:44She's. Going to get my mustard seed.
- 1:41:47I'll accept Gina for that one.
- 1:41:50even, you know, I just don't think anyone really stood out.
- 1:41:54So I'm curious to see who gets
- 1:41:58My mustard seed is going to go
- 1:42:05for her when she volunteered that she's been dieting since 8
- 1:42:08years old. That really hits in a weird
- 1:42:12place. Yeah, it was weird.
- 1:42:14And even if you don't have the
- 1:42:18though it it reminded me of things that I've struggled with
- 1:42:25since being a kid. Yeah.
- 1:42:27And so I really identified with that.
- 1:42:30I agree. And, and while some of her gym
- 1:42:36and weight loss and whatnot, and
- 1:42:39little awkward or strange at times, I appreciate that she's
- 1:42:43really leaning into it. And although she's disappointed
- 1:42:46in her plateau and struggles with the scale specifically,
- 1:42:49she's still showing up. She's still doing the work.
- 1:42:51And that sucks when you're on a weight loss journey, when
- 1:42:54you're on any health journey where you hit the plateaus,
- 1:42:57the highs feel great, the lows suck in the plateaus are not
- 1:43:01great. So I feel for her, and I'm just
- 1:43:03glad that she's continuing to show up and doing the work at
- 1:43:06this point in the show, you know?
- 1:43:07I do appreciate that she gave the nutritionist her compliments
- 1:43:15Yeah, no, that was a genuine, honest reaction of like, wow,
- 1:43:21this woman so pretty. I'm intimidated by her.
- 1:43:23And it was very refreshing to see a real woman in in that clip
- 1:43:33Yeah, an organic praise as well. Like it was genuine coming from
- 1:43:36Janelle, Yeah. So I do feel like we're at a bit
- 1:43:41This is kind of bringing it back to the scale thing.
- 1:43:45And I, I want to see her pull forward.
- 1:43:48I want to see more forward momentum from her.
- 1:43:51And so I'm excited to see where this nutritionist takes her.
- 1:43:56I really AM. It'll be interesting to see if
- 1:44:03because you know how the show is.
- 1:44:05This is. True, it might just we might
- 1:44:07never hear about it again. Like who knows?
- 1:44:09But I don't want to burst your bubble.
- 1:44:11Just saying, you know, Janelle, Janelle, you did get a mustard
- 1:44:18is an Apple review coming to us from Amanda Chaban.
- 1:44:21So Chaban I think might be a combination of some things, I'm
- 1:44:26not quite sure so I'll just say Amanda and Amanda's review is
- 1:44:30titled. Love you guys so much.
- 1:44:32Amanda says I am new to Sister Wives and you guys have been the
- 1:44:38You always give me an AB workout
- 1:44:42Kimber's deranged Scarlett O'Hara version of Robyn is
- 1:44:45somehow the least correct yet the most spot on impression I've
- 1:44:48ever heard. I'm sad that I'm almost caught
- 1:44:51up and now I have to wait a whole week for your takes.
- 1:44:54Keep it going. I love that when I read the
- 1:44:58Scarlett O'Hara version of Robyn, the least correct and
- 1:45:02most spot on. I was like, that is amazing.
- 1:45:06It's so true. Well, I do declare, Amanda,
- 1:45:10thank you for that review. It was a lovely visual
- 1:45:14stimulation for us to read that and I truly, truly appreciate
- 1:45:20it. Thank you.
- 1:45:23Wow, that was truly a special moment for us all.
- 1:45:30Thank you for the five star reviews.
- 1:45:31If you listen to the show and you haven't left us a review
- 1:45:33yet, please leave us five stars if you feel we deserve it.
- 1:45:36And even if you don't feel we deserve it, please do.
- 1:45:38It helps us to get shared with
- 1:45:41this Drain show just as much as you do.
- 1:45:43But please, only the five stars,
- 1:45:48I'm going to say this one's in
- 1:45:50It's in the bag. We got it.
