  the first round of the inaugural 12 team College Football Playoff

  this weekend. I'm here to give some of my

  takeaways and get out of here because it's NFL Sunday and we

  have more games to watch and more takeaways to give.

  So let's just get started. Let's just get right to it.

  There's going to be a lot of SEC fans that are.
• 0:24
  I told you so. I told you so.

  Mind you, my favorite team is in the SEC as well, but I can also
• 0:31
  understand how people can get a little bit annoyed with SEC
• 0:36
  fans. So hey, let's just start right

  there. Friday night, Indiana goes to
• 0:41
  South Bend and play Notre Dame. Game wasn't even close.
• 0:45
  Like, it's definitely not as close as the 27 to 17 score
• 0:49
  would indicate. Indiana was down quick.

  They did have a little bit of momentum on their first drive
• 0:56
  getting into the red zone before Curtis worked through an
• 0:58
  interception. From there on, Jeremiah Love, a

  98 yard touchdown run. And then it was just slow

  motion, just Notre Dame wearing them down, beating them up and
• 1:08
  eventually moving on to the next round to play Georgia in the
• 1:11
  Sugar Bowl. So, I mean, you could look at it

  like, yeah, This is why we shouldn't allow teams like

  Indiana in. But I would disagree because

  that takes the fun out of the sport.

  So you look at, yeah, you could have put Alabama in, but at the

  same time, it's Alabama's fault they weren't in in the 1st
• 1:29
  place. Because here's the problem.

  Alabama, you had a chance to get in.

  You had a chance to get in you. All you had to do was beat

  Oklahoma. Oklahoma wasn't anything special

  this year. Texas crushed Oklahoma, Oklahoma

  switching back and forth to quarterbacks all year long.

  And yet when you go to Oklahoma, you only put up three points and

  lose by 21. You're not getting in off that.

  You squeak by South Carolina. They have another loss that is

  escaping off the top of my head right now.

  You should be ashamed of yourselves.

  The Alabama fans should not complain at all.

  Whether you're one of the 12 best teams or not is not what

  we're here for right now. You had your chance.

  You beat Georgia, really embarrassed Georgia for the

  first half of that game before Georgia was able to turn it into

  arguably the game of the season. Well, now you have that

  momentum. But there, there we go.

  You lose to Vanderbilt, you lose then, granted this is a

  Vanderbilt team that is better than it has been in years past,

  it's still Vanderbilt. You go on.

  You squeak by South Carolina, You squeak by Tennessee.

  No, no, you didn't squeak by Tennessee.

  You lost to Tennessee, so now here we are.

  You got 2 losses. You know, going to this Oklahoma

  game, it's a must win. Everything after the Tennessee

  loss is a must win. And what do you do?

  You squander your opportunity by losing to Oklahoma and really

  getting embarrassed by Oklahoma at that.

  So no, you don't have a say in the College Football Playoff.

  Move forward to Ole Miss and Lane Kiffin was tweeting his

  behind off this weekend, just making fun of the committee for

  putting in teams over an Ole Miss over in Alabama.

  Well, Mr. Kiffin, let's just start with you, Sir.

  Yeah, you beat George as well. You also lost to a very poor

  Kentucky team. You also lost to a Florida team.

  You have no say, Sir. You have no say at all.

  Your team shouldn't have been there either.

  I feel like this has been one of the more fun college football

  seasons we've had in a long time.

  And granted, I do think 12 is a bit much and I'll get into that

  in just a second. But when you look at the teams

  that were still available, that were still fighting for a
• 3:54
  playoff spot come mid November, it was a lot of it was it

  brought a lot of intrigue to the sport.

  And so now you're looking at you're not just looking at four

  teams that can make it. The expansion was necessary for
• 4:09
  sure. But now you've got, oh, Indiana
• 4:13
  still here. Oh, Miami still here.
• 4:16
  Oh, Clemson still here. Even South Carolina comes down
• 4:19
  to the final week. Bama still here.
• 4:22
  Teams that wouldn't be there are still here.

  And it brought a lot of intrigue to the games in November,
• 4:29
  whereas last year they might not have had that same intrigue.

  So now look, you brought all this along.

  You brought all of this along. The argument now is what are the
• 4:43
  12 best teams versus the 12 most deserving teams?

  Because SEC fans are going to fight for the 12 best teams.

  But at the same time, as I just pointed out, is Alabama one of

  the 12 best teams? Probably so.

  But did they deserve it? No, they didn't.

  They don't miss deserve it. No, they didn't.

  So now it's a crossroads of SEC fans trying to push along.

  The narrative of our team should be in, our team should be in

  which my team isn't, by the way, But that's neither here nor

  there. But and then you've got the rest

  of the conferences. Like if we wanted to just do

  ASC, Big 10 playoff, they could do that every year and it would
• 5:24
  be no intrigue. It wouldn't be fun.

  Instead, we've got Ashton Gente in this year.

  We almost had Travis Hunter in this year.

  We we've got Bo Scar, scatter bow, scatter bow.

  We've got just all different types of players who are now on

  the big stage and able to show what they can do.

  We've got Penn State in this year able to have a white out.

  They didn't think they could do a white out unless it was night

  time. Guess what?

  That crowd was electric and it also brings me to the point of

  we are now we have to understand college football more than any

  other sport. The atmosphere is everything.

  The atmosphere is everything. So when you look at all these

  crowds, you go to South Bend Friday night, you you go to

  Happy Valley Saturday morning, you're in Austin Saturday

  afternoon, you're in Columbus at the Shoe Saturday night.

  These are amazing crowds. These are the type of crowds

  we're on College football 25. Your your routes are shaking,
• 6:28
  your controllers vibrating. These are hard places to play
• 6:33
  for any team, let alone in Indiana, let alone ASMU, let
• 6:38
  alone a Clemson, let alone Tennessee.

  Tennessee hasn't been in anything like this for a long
• 6:45
  time. They're a young team.
• 6:48
  So now you're, you're fighting like it'd be hard for Georgia to
• 6:51
  go into these places and win. It'd be hard for or going to go
• 6:55
  in these places and win games. So you just have to understand
• 6:58
  that these aren't the easiest places to play.

  And that played a factory in as well.

  It was beautiful to see these atmospheres at their peak.

  These college students really, really bring a great atmosphere

  to each and every game. But I will say that brings me to

  my next point. I think 12 is a bit too much and

  they're going they're trying to get to 1414 is more way too

  much. That is that is more just fat.

  Just eliminate the fat because in 18 playoff it's about what

  you need. I feel like in 18 playoff, it's

  about right. So now you've got you got you do

  3 versus 8, four versus 75 versus 6.

  You still got the one and two seeds getting a buy and you

  eliminate that nine through 12 space.

  Because if we're being honest with ourselves, most 9 through

  12 and anything is not winning a championship.

  Now, granted, maybe they want that March Madness field where

  you get an upset and the team gets to the final four, maybe

  even the national championship. This is football.

  Football is determined by who is normally best in the trenches,

  who has the better grit, the better overall team.

  In basketball, one man can lead A-Team to an upset.

  Steph Curry. Davidson, Kemba Walker, UConn

  These teams can make runs to the Final Four, win a national

  cherry, tip national championship.

  Because in basketball, when you have special players, they're

  able to lead their team further along.

  In football, it's more than just one player.

  Granted, if you have a great quarterback, he can make things

  shake, but you need that team. You need an online, you need a

  run game, you need a defense, you need a good coaching staff.

  All of these things are necessary in order to be a great

  team. So when you look at this and you

  look at this, this format having SMU and Indiana, deserving or

  not, they that we knew what was going to happen.

  Granted, same thing happened to Tennessee.

  I feel like if you kept it to one through 8, I think you get a

  much better product. Granted, I know there's there's

  blowouts in any sport, There's blowouts in the NFL playoffs,

  but the difference is the NFL, you earn no spots.

  Not to say these 12 teams didn't earn their spot, but there's a

  committee that picks these teams.

  There's no committee for the NFL playoffs.

  The 14 teams are the 14 teams. And when you get to decide who

  who are the 12 best teams like the College Football Playoff

  committee gets to do well, what you what you said is a problem

  of arguing. Well, we'll know we deserve to

  get in and you see what happens. Indiana got blown out.

  See what happens SMU gets blown out.

  Well, you know what happens when that when we can cut that out,

  you get who's the three seed you get.

  Well, it's Boise this year, but you get a Boise versus in Ohio

  State, which, yeah, but if we're being real with ourselves, Boise

  was able to take Oregon to the wire.

  So just eliminating the fat out of the Collegeville plant, which

  they won't do because this talks when when you can eliminate that

  fat, you get a better product. However, they're going to go to

  14 in a few years. And I think I don't think that's

  best. I do not think that's best at

  all, but we'll see. We'll see because this, again,

  has been one of the more fun College Football Playoff seasons

  I've ever seen. And I can't wait to see what

  happens on New Year's Eve between Penn State and Boise.

  And I can't wait to see what happens on New Year's Day
• 10:43
  between Georgia and Notre Dame, Oregon and Ohio State, and Texas
• 10:47
