Speaker 1: Deepak Chopra says the unknown is the field of all possibilities, ever fresh, ever new, always open to the creation of new manifestations Without uncertainty.
• 0:36
Speaker 1: And the unknown, life is just the stale repetition of outworn memories.
• 0:42
Speaker 1: He's talking in that quote about letting go of your attachment to the known and saying that by doing so, you are actually opening yourself up to something greater than you can possibly imagine.
• 0:56
Speaker 1: Today I'm going to talk about how to let go, how to intend what we want in life, but giving up your attachment to the result.
• 1:05
Speaker 1: Hi, I'm Thor Chalgren, welcome to.
• 1:07
Speaker 1: Every Day, a New Thought.
• 1:08
Speaker 1: Today I'm looking into the sixth law of success from Deepak Chopra's book, the Seven Spiritual Laws of Success.
• 1:16
Speaker 1: It's called the Law of Detachment.
• 1:20
Speaker 1: I've done an entire series of episodes seven in fact on this book and with all the other episodes you'll find them listed in the show description.
• 1:31
Speaker 1: Today, this chapter is all about the law of detachment, the balance between what we want and how to allow it to come into our lives.
• 1:41
Speaker 1: First definition Deepak Chopra says at the beginning of the chapter that the law of detachment says that in order to acquire anything in the physical universe, you have to relinquish your attachment to it.
• 1:56
Speaker 1: Now, most of us, when we hear that, we think well, how do I achieve a goal and still be detached to it?
• 2:04
Speaker 1: How does that work?
• 2:05
Speaker 1: Well, first, he says that attachment, wanting something, is based on fear and insecurity.
• 2:13
Speaker 1: We think that the source of what we want is outside of us.
• 2:17
Speaker 1: He says that everything is a symbol money, cars, clothes, houses, airplanes.
• 2:23
Speaker 1: And he says and I love this quote chasing symbols is like settling for the map instead of the territory.
• 2:32
Speaker 1: So, out of a sense of insecurity or fear, we chase after these symbols, thinking that they'll bring us security.
• 2:40
Speaker 1: But, as he says, if you chase security, you'll spend your whole life doing it.
• 2:46
Speaker 1: Instead, deepak Chopra encourages us to embrace the unknown, uncertainty, to be open to new ways, new possibilities, fresh perspectives, because that's the place where we can create something that's never been created before.
• 3:03
Speaker 1: He tells us that when we lean into the infinite field of pure potentiality, this field can then orchestrate an infinity of events to bring about the result that we want.
• 3:16
Speaker 1: So how do you apply this?
• 3:17
Speaker 1: Here are three affirmations that you can employ every day to practice detachment.
• 3:24
Speaker 1: First one is today I will commit myself to detachment.
• 3:29
Speaker 1: I will allow myself and those around me the freedom to be as they are.
• 3:36
Speaker 1: Second affirmation today I will factor in uncertainty as an essential ingredient of my experience.
• 3:47
Speaker 1: The more uncertain things seem to be, the more secure I will feel, because uncertainty is my path to freedom.
• 3:55
Speaker 1: When I step into the field of all possibilities, I will experience all the fun, adventure, magic and mystery of life.
• 4:05
Speaker 1: I want more fun and adventure and magic in my life.
• 4:10
