- 0:43Speaker 3: lot of it has to do with the entire crew
- 0:45Speaker 3: standing on the deck singing the Iranian national anthem. That
- 0:49Speaker 3: helped a whole lot. And also I am am seeing
- 0:55Speaker 3: the La Lawyer's phil Harmonic tomorrow night at eight o'clock
- 0:59Speaker 3: at the Walt Disney Concert Hall. I'm in a tucks,
- 1:02Speaker 3: the only time I'm in a tucks all year long,

- 1:42Speaker 3: it's time for Foody Friday with Neil. But Neil, before
- 1:46Speaker 3: we jump into that, there is a Dodger Yes.
- 1:51Speaker 2: Yes, So your official home for Dodgers Baseball is AM
- 1:55Speaker 2: five seventy LA Sports. Tonight, you're back to back world
- 1:59Speaker 2: champ and Dodgers take on the Orioles with first pitch
- 2:04Speaker 2: at seven. Listen on AM five seventy LA Sports and
- 2:07Speaker 2: streaming on the iHeartRadio app live from the galpin Ford
- 2:11Speaker 2: Broadcast booth.
- 2:13Speaker 3: Okay, let's get into Foody Friday. And one thing is
- 2:19Speaker 3: talk about dollar stores, and dollar stores are no longer
- 2:24Speaker 3: dollar or at least the people that go to the
- 2:27Speaker 3: dollar stores aren't the poor people anymore. It's really incredible
- 2:31Speaker 3: how this has exploded.
- 2:33Speaker 2: Oh I love, I love a good dollar store shopping
- 2:36Speaker 2: trip and more and more. Used to you know, you
- 2:39Speaker 2: used to think of them as just kind of trinkets,
- 2:41Speaker 2: little baskets, maybe some glasses, cups and the like. But
- 2:46Speaker 2: the dollar stores are battling for supremacy in groceries right
- 2:53Speaker 2: now is where they're battling. So you have Dollar Tree
- 2:56Speaker 2: and Dollar General, you have Family Dollar, all these different places,
- 3:00Speaker 2: but the real competition competition right now is coming from
- 3:04Speaker 2: Dollar General, as they're slashing prices even under a dollar
- 3:08Speaker 2: and they're doing it primarily with groceries because, as we know,
- 3:13Speaker 2: groceries have been going up. You're talking roughly about three
- 3:17Speaker 2: hundred dollars more annually on just groceries compared to the
- 3:21Speaker 2: previous year. You got rising costs of gas, all kinds
- 3:25Speaker 2: of other living expenses, and it adds up. So many
- 3:29Speaker 2: have turned to these dollar stores, budget focused retailers and
- 3:33Speaker 2: the like. And now Dollar General is slashing a bunch
- 3:39Speaker 2: of prices on like about two thousand items, and they're
- 3:43Speaker 2: including groceries, they're including household essentials, and you're talking about
- 3:48Speaker 2: things that you know, even name brands Jiffy cornbread mix,
- 3:53Speaker 2: which if you haven't tried, is fantastic boxes of pasta,
- 3:57Speaker 2: Campbell's soup, Kellogg's cereal.
- 4:00Speaker 3: Hey, I have a question, and that is produce, particularly produced,
- 4:05Speaker 3: which is probably the hardest thing to buy and keep.
- 4:09Speaker 3: Is this gently used produce, previously eaten produce? Are these
- 4:16Speaker 3: seconds where they're not quite Gelson's quality.
- 4:20Speaker 2: Here's the thing with produce. Americans are very focused on aesthetics.
- 4:30Speaker 2: Esthetics don't mean I mean sometimes you know, watermelons, you
- 4:33Speaker 2: don't want a bunch of scars on them, things like that.
- 4:36Speaker 2: But there's some produce that is misshapen or it's they
- 4:41Speaker 2: like to have all the same size. In most grocery
- 4:44Speaker 2: stars and stores and things like that. Apples can come
- 4:47Speaker 2: in different shapes and sizes and they're all perfectly good,
- 4:51Speaker 2: but we tend to go for the ones that are
- 4:53Speaker 2: symmetrical and all kind of look the same. But the
- 4:56Speaker 2: reality is there's tons of different shapes in them, so
- 4:59Speaker 2: those aren't second spiny, stretch, nutritionally any of those things.
- 5:04Speaker 2: I laugh all the time when people come to me
- 5:07Speaker 2: and think that brown eggs are more nutritional than white
- 5:11Speaker 2: eggs or things like that that have nothing to do
- 5:15Speaker 2: with nutritional value. But we are just very esthetically focused.
- 5:21Speaker 2: So there's all kinds of things. Plus they have different
- 5:24Speaker 2: supply chains all things like that. I've never had a
- 5:27Speaker 2: problem buying produce or anything like that at a dollar store.
- 5:31Speaker 3: Yeah. One of the things when you talk about American shoppers.
- 5:33Speaker 3: And I'm going to give you a personal example bananas.
- 5:37Speaker 3: For me, I cannot stand one iota of a bruised banana,
- 5:43Speaker 3: and they have to be a just a certain firmness.
- 5:48Speaker 3: And the window that works for me is about ten
- 5:52Speaker 3: minutes before not after.
- 5:55Speaker 2: Yes, you don't make any banana bread in your house.
- 6:00Speaker 3: No, I really don't do too much.
- 6:03Speaker 2: So when they do get that way and they get
- 6:07Speaker 2: that show that's the sugar content, by the way, on
- 6:10Speaker 2: the outside that that so called bruising is ripening over
- 6:15Speaker 2: ripening to where the sugar is higher in there. What
- 6:18Speaker 2: we do in our house we peel them. We take
- 6:20Speaker 2: those very mushy bananas, we mush them with a fork
- 6:25Speaker 2: and you mush them all down and you put them
- 6:27Speaker 2: in zip lock bags, take the air out of them,
- 6:29Speaker 2: put them in the freezer. And when you're in the
- 6:30Speaker 2: mood to make banana muffins banana bread, then you take
- 6:33Speaker 2: them out, you thomb and you make banana bread with them.
- 6:36Speaker 3: Hmm. That's work though.
- 6:40Speaker 2: Don't you just go like this and then someone comes running?
- 6:44Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 6:45Speaker 3: Pretty much, not anymore, Not anymore. My lifestyle has changed
- 6:49Speaker 3: so much since I've married Lindsay. All right, coming up
- 6:53Speaker 3: a couple of more topics. America's favorite cheese not I'm
- 6:57Speaker 3: interested in. And then the apple pie from make the
- 7:00Speaker 3: Donald's is back, and that is a big deal. You
- 7:04Speaker 3: wonder why that hasn't been on the menu all the
- 7:06Speaker 3: time because it's so popular. We'll be right back with
- 7:09Speaker 3: Neil Savedra and the Fork Report at the bottom of
- 7:14Speaker 3: or Foody Friday. Fork Reports tomorrow, of course, with Neil
- 7:17Speaker 3: ask handle anything at the bottom of the the bottom
- 7:20Speaker 3: of the hour where we finish the show every Friday.
- 7:24Speaker 3: Fie Am six forty is Juneteenth, on a Friday celebrating
- 7:29Speaker 3: commemorating the day when the last slaves in America were freed,
- 7:35Speaker 3: three years after the Emancipation Proclamation. Actually told they were
- 7:40Speaker 3: freed by a union general. Okay, back we go with
- 7:44Speaker 3: Foody Friday. Friday on Neil and Neil. The original McDonald's
- 7:50Speaker 3: apple Pie is back and it is so popular. Why
- 7:56Speaker 3: isn't it there full time?
- 7:58Speaker 2: Indeed, it is back, and it's not the first time
- 8:00Speaker 2: they brought it back. They brought it back before with
- 8:02Speaker 2: much fanfare. The interesting thing is they switched from the
- 8:07Speaker 2: You remember the crispy deep Fried one. Yes, that's when
- 8:11Speaker 2: they are so good. Yeah, it is a source of
- 8:14Speaker 2: energy into itself. It is hotter than the sun, and
- 8:19Speaker 2: we all loved it. Then it went away and they
- 8:22Speaker 2: went to the Baked Ones. I remember being slightly disappointed
- 8:25Speaker 2: when they moved to the Baked Ones, but now I
- 8:28Speaker 2: like them. I don't know if i'd want to go back.
- 8:31Speaker 2: So it's going to be interesting. They've brought it back.
- 8:35Speaker 2: It hasn't been around since I think the nineties. Sometimes
- 8:39Speaker 2: this happens every now and again, these places will remove them.
- 8:44Speaker 2: I have to imagine it's something. The Baked Ones. They
- 8:49Speaker 2: can just sit under a lamp for a while and
- 8:52Speaker 2: sometimes you can tell that they have. There's got to
- 8:54Speaker 2: be something in the process or the cost of deep
- 9:00Speaker 2: buying them, or the way they hold that made them change.
- 9:05Speaker 2: Because they're doing well, there's no reason for them to change,
- 9:10Speaker 2: it's all going to be about money and or liability.
- 9:14Speaker 2: Maybe they were too hot, maybe they were worried about
- 9:17Speaker 2: being sued. Who the heck knows.
- 9:20Speaker 3: Hey, whenever these large fast food change do something that
- 9:26Speaker 3: you go, why would you not have it year round?
- 9:30Speaker 3: Is the reason? Because they want to generate people who
- 9:33Speaker 3: have not gone in a while and increase sales. And
- 9:36Speaker 3: the example I give one of McDonald's most popular items
- 9:40Speaker 3: is their rib sandwich, which is not quite meat and
- 9:46Speaker 3: it's extruded and it's absolutely delicious. I've always loved it.
- 9:51Speaker 3: It has a certain flavor about with the little bits
- 9:53Speaker 3: of onion on it. I just love that. And when's
- 9:55Speaker 3: it coming back.
- 9:57Speaker 2: Well, see that comes back more regularly. This particular stint
- 10:02Speaker 2: for the McDonald's old school og apple pie is deep
- 10:06Speaker 2: Fried comes June twenty third, and it's probably only going
- 10:11Speaker 2: to bring you around for a couple of weeks. And
- 10:14Speaker 2: I think you're right. There's something about the nostalgia they
- 10:16Speaker 2: want to get you, and if you haven't been for
- 10:18Speaker 2: a while, they kind of say, hey, look you remember
- 10:21Speaker 2: this when you were a kid and it was so delicious,
- 10:24Speaker 2: Come on in and you're not going to just buy
- 10:26Speaker 2: the pie, You're going to end up buying something else,
- 10:28Speaker 2: maybe trying their coffee, which is really good, and trying
- 10:32Speaker 2: McDonald's out again and trying to break into your habits
- 10:36Speaker 2: and patterns.
- 10:37Speaker 3: Okay, let's do one last one because I wanted to
- 10:39Speaker 3: get to this. And that's America America's favorite cheese. And
- 10:42Speaker 3: let me guessvelvita, which is not actually cheese. It's a
- 10:46Speaker 3: cheese cheese food product, no actual cheese at all involved.
- 10:52Speaker 2: It's cheese flavored. No, what's America's favorite cheese? Heather Brooker was,
- 10:58Speaker 2: you know, she's all big in the new and stuff
- 11:00Speaker 2: like that. Heather, did you hear the story about the
- 11:04Speaker 2: French cheese factory that exploded? No, got nothing left but debris? No, sorry,
- 11:12Speaker 2: it's father's dack.
- 11:13Speaker 3: I totally fell for that. Yeah, you maybe put my
- 11:16Speaker 3: headphones on that and.
- 11:20Speaker 2: Yad jokes. All right, So it turns out it's cheddar.
- 11:24Speaker 2: And if that makes sense, you can hear Gary Hoffman go,
- 11:29Speaker 2: he's a big.
- 11:32Speaker 3: I mean we and our cheddar here in the States
- 11:34Speaker 3: is very different. For example, the cheddar in England, which
- 11:38Speaker 3: is much harder, and it is white, and it is
- 11:42Speaker 3: much sharper but I can see that. I with my
- 11:45Speaker 3: ham and cheese, I use cheddar.
- 11:47Speaker 2: Have you ever tried carry gold their age dar? I
- 11:51Speaker 2: was just thinking about carry gold is fantastic and Theotish
- 11:56Speaker 2: or Irish right Irish Irish so carry gold with their
- 12:00Speaker 2: Irish butter, which is to die for it. Yeah, yeah,
- 12:07Speaker 2: but they that's one following a Cheddar cheese taste test.
- 12:11Speaker 2: And Cracker Barrel has their Vermont sharp white, and Tillamook
- 12:17Speaker 2: of course has their sharp cheddar, which I love as well.
- 12:20Speaker 3: And you can buy at Costco. Yes, they have that.
- 12:25Speaker 3: And they have medium cheddar in slices which I buy
- 12:29Speaker 3: all the time.
- 12:30Speaker 2: Now, which they also went to see the favorite cheese
- 12:37Speaker 2: is ranked, and it's cheddar seventy seven percent, mozzarella seventy four,
- 12:42Speaker 2: parmer Gano reggiano sixty four, American cheese sixty three percent,
- 12:46Speaker 2: cream cheese fifty nine, Provolone is fifty four, Monterey Jack
- 12:51Speaker 2: fifty three, Colby fifty two, pepper Jack fifty two, Swiss
- 12:55Speaker 2: fifty one. I'm not crazy about Swiss. I do like
- 12:58Speaker 2: an occasionally on a chicken sandwich or something, but.
- 13:01Speaker 3: Just well, Breing's kind of weird. But baby Swiss which
- 13:06Speaker 3: is different than Swiss. For some reason, it tastes different,
- 13:10Speaker 3: and I really enjoy babies.
- 13:11Speaker 2: I'll what the difference is.
- 13:12Speaker 3: Quite honestly, it's small. It's smaller. It's like it's babies.
- 13:17Speaker 3: It has not it hasn't quite grown up, but it's
- 13:20Speaker 3: age at a less less time. I'm sorry, go ahead.
- 13:23Speaker 2: I don't feel good about them taking the baby Swiss
- 13:28Speaker 2: from the mother so young.
- 13:30Speaker 3: It Yeah, okay, I knew we were gonna go there someplace,
- 13:33Speaker 3: all right, Neil tomorrow from two to five o'clock the
- 13:37Speaker 3: Fork Report, All things.
- 13:39Speaker 2: Foody, and I'm having Tony Clark, world famous magician on.
- 13:44Speaker 2: He's gonna be has a couple of shows coming up
- 13:46Speaker 2: at a great bar in Santa Monica that has magicians,
- 13:51Speaker 2: has a great feed. It sounds like fine, it'd be
- 13:54Speaker 2: good treat. Maybe a last gift for Father's Day.
- 13:56Speaker 3: Even Yeah, I've seen him, I've seen him. It's a
- 14:00Speaker 3: huge Yeah, fruity Friday. Here's the sandwich that you make
- 14:03Speaker 3: and it's gone where to go?
- 14:06Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, I can't do that anymore. But if it's
- 14:08Speaker 2: if it's a thimble full of gatorade, I'm your man.
- 14:11Speaker 3: That's true. That's right, having just undergo undergone bariatric surgery. Okay, guys,
- 14:17Speaker 3: we're done coming up. Ask handle anything, and it's all
- 14:22Speaker 3: about embarrassing me and it's great fun. I enjoy it
- 14:26Speaker 3: because I get to rip into you right back. This
- 14:30Speaker 3: is KFI.
- 14:31Speaker 4: You're listening to Bill Handle on demand from KFI AM
- 14:35Speaker 4: six forty KFI.
- 14:38Speaker 3: I am a six forty handle here. It is a
- 14:41Speaker 3: juneteenth Friday, June nineteenth, as we celebrate commemorate the last
- 14:48Speaker 3: of the Civil War slaves who were told they were
- 14:52Speaker 3: free three years after the Emancipation Proclamation. Okay, Oh, other
- 14:57Speaker 3: big news. The Memorial reflecting pool. Remember those paint painted blue.
- 15:02Speaker 3: It is now green with algae, except for MAGA followers
- 15:06Speaker 3: who say it is blue just blue because green is blue.
- 15:10Speaker 3: Blue is green if it is said to us, I
- 15:12Speaker 3: thought it was silly to talk about the algae.
- 15:15Speaker 2: But you know what I heard last night, which I
- 15:18Speaker 2: think is legitimate, is the blue paint is actually peeling up.
- 15:23Speaker 3: Oh yeah, no, it's not even it's not even though
- 15:26Speaker 3: even though a reporter picked up a huge piece of it,
- 15:30Speaker 3: that's yeah, that's not true. None of that is true. Okay,
- 15:33Speaker 3: it is time for ask Handle Anything. You record questions,
- 15:38Speaker 3: Neil chooses the question to ask me, and it's all
- 15:43Speaker 3: about embarrassing me and Neil throwing those questions out. So
- 15:47Speaker 3: let's go. Sam is here filling in for Cono until Monday.
- 15:50Speaker 3: All right, Sam, First question.
- 15:53Speaker 6: Mister Handel. I understand that you started yoga, So the
- 15:57Speaker 6: obvious question is this, what is the endgame of the
- 16:02Speaker 6: yoga as far as what it will provide or do
- 16:05Speaker 6: for you?
- 16:07Speaker 3: Nothing does that help?
- 16:12Speaker 2: It's just isn't it just an excuse for you to
- 16:15Speaker 2: pass gas in public with nobody?
- 16:17Speaker 6: You know what?
- 16:17Speaker 3: I go to a yoga class where that is not
- 16:20Speaker 3: the case Anyway. Yoga is It's one of the hardest
- 16:24Speaker 3: things I've ever done, but it's it's keep myself reasonably
- 16:27Speaker 3: in shape because I'm getting really old and losing balance
- 16:31Speaker 3: and getting completely decrepit. Okay, next question, My.
- 16:36Speaker 5: Question for Bill is actually for the rest of the room.
- 16:41Speaker 5: Is Bill really a jerk? Or is he more like
- 16:46Speaker 5: Jack Benny or Don Rickles, you know, a jerk in
- 16:50Speaker 5: public but really nice behind the scenes.
- 16:53Speaker 3: Okay, start with Neil. Okay, good question, Neil, geez jerk?
- 16:58Speaker 3: Yes or no?
- 17:00Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 17:00Speaker 2: I actually think you are genuinely a jerk.
- 17:02Speaker 3: You're a very.
- 17:03Speaker 2: Generous man, but I'm a jerk, okay, unaware of other people.
- 17:07Speaker 3: Yes, okay, and you're the one that knows me almost
- 17:10Speaker 3: the best. It's weird because some things are a total
- 17:16Speaker 3: jerk and some things you're like the sweetest guy, which
- 17:19Speaker 3: throws me off sometimes, but that's I do that on purpose,
- 17:21Speaker 3: just to throw you off. Heather doesn't know me well enough.
- 17:25Speaker 3: And Will doesn't know me well enough. Jerk, all right,
- 17:29Speaker 3: all right, And I've worked with Sam for a bunch
- 17:31Speaker 3: of years on handling the lot. Jerk.
- 17:33Speaker 7: No, you're a little bit of a comrudgeon, but that's
- 17:36Speaker 7: not okay, okay, fine, and Will not that I care,
- 17:39Speaker 7: but buy a jerk. Okay, thank you? All right, moving
- 17:45Speaker 7: on and Heather, she's already said.
- 17:49Speaker 8: Next question, Bill handle, mister Potts and parents. Question, is
- 17:57Speaker 8: your friend Neil a gourmett Does he use your pots
- 18:02Speaker 8: and pans or are they not of the quality that
- 18:05Speaker 8: he prefers?
- 18:06Speaker 3: You know, I don't know, Neil. Do you use the platinum.
- 18:09Speaker 2: Quickwar I wouldn't call me a gourmet, but yes I do.
- 18:14Speaker 2: You should go that. Yeah, the grill pan is I
- 18:16Speaker 2: think one of the best pans I own. I don't own.
- 18:19Speaker 2: I don't use any one set. I believe in breaking
- 18:22Speaker 2: things up and using multiple But I would say we
- 18:26Speaker 2: use ah, we would use one of your pants. Okay,
- 18:32Speaker 2: every day enough, absolutely easy to say.
- 18:35Speaker 3: Okay. And by the way, a lot of that answer
- 18:37Speaker 3: is because he got it for free. Okay. Next question,
- 18:41Speaker 3: you're talking about Eli Must. He's a trillionaire. Let me
- 18:44Speaker 3: ask you a question.
- 18:45Speaker 2: If you were a trillionaire, would you stop shopping at Costco?
- 18:49Speaker 3: No? Would you stop at Amazon?
- 18:52Speaker 9: No?
- 18:52Speaker 5: Hell? That kind of money you could buy one you
- 18:54Speaker 5: could buy?
- 18:54Speaker 3: No, No, No, Elon Must doesn't sound how much is
- 18:58Speaker 3: Elon Must bend on? He didn't even own a house,
- 19:02Speaker 3: So shopping at Costco? I mean I can afford not
- 19:04Speaker 3: to shop at Costco. Stopping shopping at Costco is a
- 19:07Speaker 3: religious experience. It's like going to Lords for Catholics.
- 19:13Speaker 2: Would you buy at Costco if you could?
- 19:16Speaker 3: No, I would just shop at a Costco.
- 19:18Speaker 10: No.
- 19:19Speaker 3: I just like going there when I'm hungry. I go
- 19:21Speaker 3: to Costco and fight the little old Korean ladies for
- 19:24Speaker 3: the front of the line for the samples, you know,
- 19:27Speaker 3: get them out of the way. Yeah. No, I would
- 19:30Speaker 3: continue shopping at Costco forever. Okay, next question, Bill, this
- 19:37Speaker 3: is a U Writy question for you.
- 19:42Speaker 4: Do you own a text or do you read a
- 19:45Speaker 4: text every year for your one day a year TuS event.
- 19:50Speaker 3: I own a text, Actually I do. It's actually actually
- 19:54Speaker 3: a very good tux that I bought specifically for the
- 19:57Speaker 3: LA Lawyers phil Harmon celebrating two hundred and fiftieth Birthday
- 20:02Speaker 3: of America tomorrow at the Walt Disney Music Hall. And
- 20:06Speaker 3: if you'd like to come, tickets are from twenty to
- 20:10Speaker 3: one hundred and thirty five dollars and it's lawyers and
- 20:12Speaker 3: judges and I'll bmcing go to LA lawyersfill dot org.
- 20:17Speaker 3: La Lawyers fill isn't from Philharmonic La Lawyers fill dot org.
- 20:22Speaker 3: By the way, I that was, that was not a shill.
- 20:25Speaker 3: That was just a chance for me to plug it.
- 20:29Speaker 3: Do you so what other would what other opportunity would
- 20:34Speaker 3: you have to wear it my funeral? Maybe? I don't know.
- 20:38Speaker 2: No, No, Lindsay, and I have another idea for help. No,
- 20:40Speaker 2: that's great, like not like on a cruise.
- 20:43Speaker 3: Ship do they have like a captain's not anymore? No
- 20:45Speaker 3: one does that anymore.
- 20:47Speaker 9: No.
- 20:47Speaker 3: Years ago you used to have a captain's table. You know,
- 20:52Speaker 3: I no longer. I've done a million cruises because I
- 20:56Speaker 3: just happened to love cruising and I used to be
- 21:00Speaker 3: and I go on the same cruise. I do commercials
- 21:02Speaker 3: for one of the cruise lines, which I go on
- 21:03Speaker 3: all the time. And I was always invited to the
- 21:07Speaker 3: captain's table always, and I always sent a response back
- 21:13Speaker 3: because it was an invitation on a card. I would
- 21:16Speaker 3: always send it back saying, no, I'm not going to
- 21:20Speaker 3: show up at the captain's table. I don't want to
- 21:22Speaker 3: eat with a help. Okay, let's take a break. We
- 21:27Speaker 3: will return. By the way, it's absolutely true, absolutely true.
- 21:31Speaker 3: That's the way I responded, And so I never sat
- 21:33Speaker 3: at the captain's table. No desire to. Okay, we'll take
- 21:37Speaker 3: a break, come back and do more, ask candle or anything.
- 21:40Speaker 3: We'll finish it up. I handle here on a Friday,
- 21:45Speaker 3: June nineteenth. This Juneteenth, the national holiday. We're looking at
- 21:50Speaker 3: some stories. Oh, if you're a California property owner, which
- 21:53Speaker 3: a good number of people are, be prepared for insurance
- 21:58Speaker 3: home insurance to jump sixteen percent almost immediately. Congratulations, we
- 22:04Speaker 3: live in California. Okay, we finish up, ask handle anything,
- 22:08Speaker 3: which we do on Friday. You record questions. Neil chooses
- 22:12Speaker 3: the question to make sure if possible, to embarrass me. Okay,
- 22:18Speaker 3: let's do it, Sam. Next question.
- 22:21Speaker 4: Okay, Bill, So the question is you had ruin why
- 22:25Speaker 4: done several decades ago, and Neil just had the band.
- 22:29Speaker 4: If you could go back and do the band, would
- 22:32Speaker 4: you versus the ruin? Why? The second question is what
- 22:36Speaker 4: was your biggest fear going into the surgery? And you
- 22:39Speaker 4: can give that to Neil as well.
- 22:42Speaker 3: Okay, if I had to go back, would I change it?
- 22:47Speaker 3: Are you kidding? If I had to go back, I'd
- 22:49Speaker 3: redo my circumcision much less change the bariatric surgery instantly.
- 22:55Speaker 3: The ruin why is the cutting of the stomach. I
- 22:59Speaker 3: mean they literally cut the stomach out, and Neil has
- 23:04Speaker 3: the band, that sleeve band.
- 23:07Speaker 2: The sleeve, the basically different band is a physical band.
- 23:10Speaker 2: So what Bill had? The ruin?
- 23:12Speaker 6: Why?
- 23:12Speaker 2: Is an actual gastric bypass, not only cutting the stomach
- 23:16Speaker 2: but rewiring your guts. It is the gold standard. What
- 23:21Speaker 2: I had is just under that, and it's just the
- 23:24Speaker 2: cutting of the stomach and shrinking it into a banana
- 23:27Speaker 2: shape so that I can still process myney.
- 23:30Speaker 3: Okay, So it is too early to tell you. If
- 23:33Speaker 3: you too early for you to say, I'll.
- 23:34Speaker 2: Tell you I had zero pain, zero problems. The folks
- 23:38Speaker 2: at Cedars did an amazing job, and I did so
- 23:41Speaker 2: much research, talked to handle and other friends and family
- 23:44Speaker 2: that have done it. I had zero. I walked in
- 23:47Speaker 2: there like it was nothing. I didn't.
- 23:49Speaker 3: So Neil is gonna instead of Neil being four hundred pounds,
- 23:53Speaker 3: he's going to go down to nothing. All right, Next question.
- 23:58Speaker 6: Bill the morning. You know, every time you have all
- 24:01Speaker 6: these like cases, I don't know whether it's murder or
- 24:05Speaker 6: whatever something like that, or wherever death is involved, there's
- 24:09Speaker 6: often the defense of insanity or some temporary sanity something
- 24:13Speaker 6: like that. My question to you is what is the
- 24:17Speaker 6: legal definition of mental insanity?
- 24:20Speaker 1: Okay?
- 24:20Speaker 6: And or mental illness?
- 24:22Speaker 3: Okay, that's easy. It's a it's based on a case
- 24:26Speaker 3: back in the eighteen hundreds, late eighteen hundreds, and it's
- 24:28Speaker 3: the mgnoton case. And what the definition of insanity is
- 24:33Speaker 3: Either you have no idea of what you're doing, you
- 24:37Speaker 3: don't know what you're doing when you commit the crime murder,
- 24:40Speaker 3: or you can't appreciate what's right from wrong, and once
- 24:45Speaker 3: you meet that standard, you're guilty. You're not guilty by
- 24:48Speaker 3: reason of insanity. Is it an It's very high. It's
- 24:51Speaker 3: an insanely high bar to meet. Very few people can
- 24:55Speaker 3: get away with that.
- 24:56Speaker 2: What do they do with them? They're no longer.
- 24:58Speaker 3: Then they're they're right. What they do is they put
- 25:01Speaker 3: them in a mental institution. Theoretically, once the doctors there
- 25:07Speaker 3: determine that they're back from the brink, that they are
- 25:11Speaker 3: not mentally insane, they can be released into in the public.
- 25:17Speaker 3: But it's decades and decades before that can happen. So
- 25:24Speaker 3: you're basically put away in a mental institution for the
- 25:26Speaker 3: rest of your life, effectively, which is better than prison.
- 25:30Speaker 3: And then you have nurse Ratchet to deal with, which
- 25:32Speaker 3: is always fun. Stick out your tongue. Okay, next question,
- 25:38Speaker 3: good question too.
- 25:39Speaker 9: By the way, Hey Bill, here's the question we all
- 25:41Speaker 9: want to know. How many times a week or per
- 25:44Speaker 9: day do you use the cough button to cover up
- 25:47Speaker 9: a fart, not just a cough, but you know, cover
- 25:50Speaker 9: up your guess.
- 25:51Speaker 3: I don't. I don't. Why would I do that? As
- 25:54Speaker 3: a matter of fact, Better than that, what I do
- 25:57Speaker 3: is I take my microphone and put it right near
- 26:01Speaker 3: my ass. So, yeah, we do not cover up parts
- 26:05Speaker 3: on this show. It's a live show. Yeah yeah. And
- 26:10Speaker 3: I yeah, I've never even used the cough button because
- 26:14Speaker 3: the cough button I always thought was a metal hand
- 26:18Speaker 3: coming out from underneath the desk, grabbing the nerds and
- 26:23Speaker 3: saying turn your head left and cough will That's not
- 26:28Speaker 3: the case. I've never used the cough button, so I
- 26:30Speaker 3: always thought that was how it works. No, okay, we
- 26:34Speaker 3: have another question.
- 26:35Speaker 2: Do they still do that hurting you test anymore?
- 26:38Speaker 3: No? Unfortunately no, because I really enjoyed the doctor doing
- 26:42Speaker 3: that to me. All Right, we do have another one.
- 26:46Speaker 10: This message is for ask me anything for Bill. I
- 26:50Speaker 10: remember listening to KFI a very long time ago when
- 26:54Speaker 10: Doctor Waura was still on the air, and I remember
- 26:58Speaker 10: that Doctor Laura and Bill we're pretty good friends. I
- 27:02Speaker 10: think you might have done some remotes together or something
- 27:05Speaker 10: like that. So my question is are you still friends?
- 27:09Speaker 3: No, we're not. We have not talked to each other
- 27:12Speaker 3: in many, many years, ever since she left her syndicated program.
- 27:19Speaker 3: So the quick answer is no, and the long answer
- 27:23Speaker 3: is no, we haven't. Okay, that's it for Friday tomorrow.
- 27:30Speaker 3: Is Handle on the Law where I give you marginal
- 27:34Speaker 3: legal advice and hope you have no case. And that
- 27:37Speaker 3: is and then I'm back on Monday with the rest
- 27:39Speaker 3: of the crew. Will is here, Neil is still here, Heather,
- 27:43Speaker 3: you are history, and Amy comes No you aren't, and
- 27:47Speaker 3: Amy comes back. Okay great, and Sam is done because
- 27:52Speaker 3: Cono comes back. It's been supposed to say yes, that's correct, Yes,
- 27:57Speaker 3: that is correct. That is correct. Although Sam runs the
- 28:01Speaker 3: show tomorrow morning as he have for many years. Handle
- 28:04Speaker 3: on the Wall. And also, don't forget that Neil with
- 28:07Speaker 3: the Fork Report and he has a magician on that
- 28:12Speaker 3: you will not be able to see even if you
- 28:14Speaker 3: were in studio.
- 28:15Speaker 2: Those slide of hand tricks are going to be interesting.
- 28:17Speaker 2: Oh yeah, you're also going to have a mime and
- 28:20Speaker 2: a balloon artist, so it'll be a good time.
- 28:22Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 28:23Speaker 2: I think I'm on with Conway tonight at seven. Okay,
- 28:26Speaker 2: people want to join in there?
- 28:27Speaker 3: Yeah, I've always enjoyed hand a slide of hand. I've
- 28:30Speaker 3: been doing that for a very long time personally anyway, okay.
- 28:34Speaker 2: No, no, no, no, no, no, no, okay, very slight.
- 28:39Speaker 3: Oh we are so done. Gary and Shannon up next. Tomorrow, Whoa,
- 28:47Speaker 3: there's my cough Tomorrow morning, Handle on the Law, after
- 28:51Speaker 3: Dean with his Show eight to eleven, and don't forget
- 28:55Speaker 3: Neil from two to five with the Fork Report. Hey,
- 28:59Speaker 3: Happy June teenth, celebrating commemorating the last group of African
- 29:06Speaker 3: Americans who were told they were no longer slaves in
- 29:10Speaker 3: eighteen sixty five. Okay, this is KFI AM sixty.
- 29:16Speaker 1: You've been listening to the Bill Handle Show. Catch my
- 29:18Speaker 1: show Monday through Friday, six am to nine am, and
