Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: Here's your host, Alex Garrett. All right, well, we've got
- 0:06Speaker 1: some news as to where Cardinal Dolan will go next.
- 0:09Speaker 1: According to the Good News Room, two of the best
- 0:13Speaker 1: clergy in New York City are coming together to be
- 0:16Speaker 1: co chieftains of the MPD chaplain and I've got to
- 0:20Speaker 1: know both of them over the last fourteen, twelve, thirteen years.
- 0:26Speaker 1: Cardinal Dolan, after he has now retired from Saint Patrick's
- 0:31Speaker 1: as the Cardinal well now and this is such a
- 0:34Speaker 1: natural fit to me become the chaplain of the NYPD
- 0:39Speaker 1: alongside Aar Bernard, who I've gotten to know over the
- 0:46Speaker 1: years at WMCA. And we just had the women's event
- 0:50Speaker 1: at the Christian Cultural Center. We just had PAE last
- 0:53Speaker 1: year at the Christian Cultural Center, home of a Ar Bernard.
- 0:58Speaker 1: So I feel like the NYP is in great hands
- 1:02Speaker 1: and I love that this is the way Cardinal Dolan
- 1:05Speaker 1: will stay in New York. A lot of people were saying, well,
- 1:09Speaker 1: where was he going to go next after Archbishop Hicks
- 1:12Speaker 1: now takes over at Saint Patrick's Cathedral. Well, this next
- 1:17Speaker 1: step just is perfect and we knew for a long
- 1:20Speaker 1: time he wanted to stay in the city after his retirement.
- 1:24Speaker 1: And as you know, both men have always supported the
- 1:29Speaker 1: NYPD through tragedy through success, and I'm really happy Commissioner
- 1:35Speaker 1: Tish is keeping them on board as chaplain and so
- 1:40Speaker 1: as someone who did not want Cardinal Dolan to leave
- 1:43Speaker 1: the city because of the impact he had in New York,
- 1:48Speaker 1: I'm very happy with this news. I mean you should
- 1:50Speaker 1: be too. And it's two of the great clergy coming
- 1:54Speaker 1: together here to lift up the spirits of the NAPD,
- 1:59Speaker 1: to pray for them, for every officer that hits the streets.
- 2:04Speaker 1: And I don't want to say under him, I'm Donnie
- 2:05Speaker 1: New York, but I under a New York city where
- 2:07Speaker 1: they're not sure if their backs are gonna be protected
- 2:10Speaker 1: from city Hall. Let's just be honest here. I'm very
- 2:15Speaker 1: happy to see these two picked by Tish. And reason
- 2:20Speaker 1: i'm talking about that today is because it's starting tomorrow, Tuesday,
- 2:24Speaker 1: February tenth, and I just I'm happy. I'm happy that
- 2:31Speaker 1: these two minds are going to come together. And you
- 2:35Speaker 1: know what's amazing, Ryan, is how connected we are. I
- 2:37Speaker 1: mean Air Bernard's on radio in New York on WABC.
- 2:42Speaker 1: I could say that's separate of Salem because there's not
- 2:43Speaker 1: a Salem sanctioned show, so I could say, yes, he's
- 2:46Speaker 1: on WABC with Rev and the Rabbi. Cardinal Dolan comes
- 2:50Speaker 1: on often with John Katzimatidas and others throughout the city,
- 2:54Speaker 1: so I their presence is magnanimous here and the back.
- 3:00Speaker 1: They both impacted my life through the last thirteen years.
- 3:04Speaker 1: It's good to see neither of them are leaving the city,
- 3:07Speaker 1: that they are digging in the trenches here and becoming
- 3:10Speaker 1: part of the NYPD, and more importantly the Cordinal Dolan
- 3:15Speaker 1: after celebrating his birthday the other day and literally handing
- 3:18Speaker 1: it off to Archibridge of Picks with the installation, which
- 3:21Speaker 1: was covered on every channel by the way here in
- 3:23Speaker 1: the city. It's awesome. It is a great move and
- 3:28Speaker 1: a smart move, and this is why Commissioner Tish need
- 3:32Speaker 1: to stay along as she as long as she can.
- 3:36Speaker 1: She is a very smart woman. She's a very smart
- 3:38Speaker 1: commissioner and I was happy she stayed on board in
- 3:42Speaker 1: the transition period, but I hope the lasts longer than that.
- 3:45Speaker 1: A move like this is why we need Commissioner Tish.
- 3:48Speaker 1: She keeps common sense in the city and this move
- 3:53Speaker 1: is indicative of that. And why even during maybe some
- 3:57Speaker 1: spats with Mam Donnie along the way, she needs to stay.
- 4:01Speaker 1: This move right here a month after the inauguration, a
- 4:05Speaker 1: month after that commitment to stay in charge of the
- 4:09Speaker 1: NYPD shows me she needs to stay longer than just
- 4:13Speaker 1: a traditional period. She needs to be the commissioner for
- 4:16Speaker 1: as long as we can have her, because the city
- 4:20Speaker 1: feels safer under her. I mean, I haven't felt as
- 4:24Speaker 1: safe since the Breton era since, you know, I just
- 4:30Speaker 1: feel safer now. I feel safer under this may under
- 4:34Speaker 1: this commissioner. And I got a hand into to Mayor
- 4:37Speaker 1: Adams who picked her. That was his pick and it's
- 4:42Speaker 1: made an impact. So whatever you want to say about
- 4:44Speaker 1: Mayor Adams, this pick of Commissioner Tish will last, will
- 4:48Speaker 1: make an impact for the greater good. And just look
- 4:51Speaker 1: at this Chaplaincy pick right there. It shows she needs
- 4:57Speaker 1: to be in this role for a long time because
- 5:01Speaker 1: she knows what she's doing. She's bringing together two men,
- 5:06Speaker 1: and I bet you Ryan they all met through the
- 5:07Speaker 1: pl I mean, Dolan's been at the PL a lot,
- 5:10Speaker 1: Bernard's been on there through radio and all that. I
- 5:15Speaker 1: have to believe John Katz is sort of behind this
- 5:17Speaker 1: because they He brought those two together and now they're
- 5:22Speaker 1: going to be leading the NYPD chaplaincy in a time
- 5:26Speaker 1: which is facing uncertainty in this first couple of months
- 5:31Speaker 1: of the Mamdan administration, and you need that certainty given
- 5:37Speaker 1: through the guidance, the wisdom, the presence of Cardinal Dolan
- 5:44Speaker 1: and r. Bernard, who we've known forever. Ugh. This is
- 5:50Speaker 1: a home run of a pick and even and you know,
- 5:55Speaker 1: Jessica in about a year since she's taken over, this
- 6:00Speaker 1: is one of the best moments of her administrator, her
- 6:05Speaker 1: MIYPD commissionership, and it's why she needs stay in office
- 6:12Speaker 1: as long as she can through the ups and downs
- 6:15Speaker 1: of this Nanny administration, because she is the glue that
- 6:22Speaker 1: is keeping us together as a city and keeping us safer.
- 6:28Speaker 1: And these two picks oh to be co chiefs of
- 6:33Speaker 1: the chaplain See. I don't want to even talk about
- 6:37Speaker 1: this for both today. I don't even care about that.
- 6:39Speaker 1: This is what's happening in this our city. It's impacting
- 6:42Speaker 1: us better than some performance that might be criticized from
- 6:45Speaker 1: bad Bunny. I don't care about that today. I want
- 6:49Speaker 1: this to be the focus because we can enjoy all that.
- 6:54Speaker 1: But if we don't have a safe city to even
- 6:56Speaker 1: get to a watch party in New York, then we're
- 6:59Speaker 1: in trouble. So these two, no matter how long the
- 7:05Speaker 1: Jessica Tish era is, it tells me we're gonna be
- 7:10Speaker 1: in good hands through the spiritual hands and words of
- 7:15Speaker 1: both these men. And yes, maybe because I've known them forever,
- 7:19Speaker 1: it feels even more special to me. But as a city,
- 7:23Speaker 1: we should be applauding this move. And I am so
- 7:28Speaker 1: thankful that Mayor Adams picked Commissioner Tish. I am so
- 7:32Speaker 1: thankful Commissioner Tish has stayed in the first couple of months.
- 7:40Speaker 1: And I've been thinking about this that there's a thing
- 7:44Speaker 1: called the Order of Milkisa Deck. You have to look
- 7:47Speaker 1: it up. But I feel like this natural order of
- 7:51Speaker 1: how things have happened since that other NYPT Commissioner Kaban
- 7:58Speaker 1: that was a disaster. This is now falling into place
- 8:02Speaker 1: for us, and that pick by Mayor Adams leading to
- 8:08Speaker 1: this moment right here and tomorrow when it happens officially,
- 8:14Speaker 1: it's going to make a lasting impact and keeping our
- 8:17Speaker 1: cities safe. This is how we know we're on a
- 8:19Speaker 1: better track than what the media is telling us, and
- 8:24Speaker 1: I pray that guidance seeps through to every part of
- 8:28Speaker 1: this Mamdani administration. I actually pray that their guidance can
- 8:31Speaker 1: lead us through what's happening with the frozen deaths, which
- 8:34Speaker 1: is now eighty that's horrible, But you have these two
- 8:38Speaker 1: in charge, inspiring the NYPD to do to be safe,
- 8:48Speaker 1: to be the guardians of our city, the protectors of
- 8:54Speaker 1: our city. This is bigger news than I've talked about
- 9:00Speaker 1: in a while, and I really hope that people can
- 9:08Speaker 1: listen to something like this and pay attention to a
- 9:11Speaker 1: move like this, because when something hits my desk as
- 9:16Speaker 1: important and as magnanimous as this, I put everything aside.
- 9:21Speaker 1: I literally put everything aside and say this matters more
- 9:26Speaker 1: than some halftime performance on either side, or some football
- 9:31Speaker 1: score and some prediction that went wrong for me because
- 9:33Speaker 1: I thought Drake May was gonna do it yesterday. But
- 9:36Speaker 1: boy am I happy for Sam Darnold. And that twenty
- 9:39Speaker 1: eighteen Jets pick makes New York happy because they knocked
- 9:43Speaker 1: off the Patriots with it six what eight years later,
- 9:47Speaker 1: I guess, But that doesn't matter right now, because we
- 9:51Speaker 1: are in a flux of whether our city will be
- 9:54Speaker 1: safe for the next four years. We are in a
- 9:58Speaker 1: you know, period of evaluation. This Mom Donnie transition is
- 10:05Speaker 1: an evaluation of whether we can handle what he's been
- 10:10Speaker 1: talking about the last few months and years. And so
- 10:19Speaker 1: in a way, by Tish staying on board, by Mom
- 10:23Speaker 1: Donnie keeping him at her, and by Adams picking her
- 10:27Speaker 1: to begin with, has led to this moment and Pope Leo.
- 10:33Speaker 1: You could say it was political pushing out or a
- 10:36Speaker 1: Cardinal Dolan. I don't want to get into that, but
- 10:41Speaker 1: it's like this divine order to keep us together as
- 10:44Speaker 1: a city is finally coming into play with this moment.
- 10:50Speaker 1: I always say God's got the wheels spinning up there,
- 10:52Speaker 1: and I really I feel this even now talking about it,
- 10:57Speaker 1: because when Pope Leo was picked, we know Cardinal Dolan
- 11:01Speaker 1: was the reason why he was picked. When he was
- 11:04Speaker 1: pushing out Cardinal Dolan, we were all confused about it.
- 11:09Speaker 1: But what if there is a higher calling to now
- 11:13Speaker 1: Cardinal Dolan's role in the city. What if this is
- 11:15Speaker 1: it to be the chaplain in the NYPD, to keep
- 11:19Speaker 1: us safe, to bring morale up in the department that
- 11:23Speaker 1: doesn't know what to do next because they don't know
- 11:25Speaker 1: what's gonna happen on her Mamdani. You need those morale
- 11:28Speaker 1: boosters in a very spiritual way. Dolan and Air Bernard
- 11:34Speaker 1: will bring that. We'll bring that. So this all goes
- 11:41Speaker 1: back to Mayor Adams's pick of Jessica Tish and the
- 11:49Speaker 1: pick keeping of Tish Shore, but also the invisible hand
- 11:56Speaker 1: that has got there's no way to explain this. The
- 12:00Speaker 1: two men who have been making an impact in the
- 12:04Speaker 1: city for a very long time on radio, in the pulpit,
- 12:15Speaker 1: at the altar, you know, whatever you want to say,
- 12:19Speaker 1: at the cathedral for a very long time, are coming
- 12:25Speaker 1: together here and this is going to be a pivotal
- 12:31Speaker 1: point in the Tish era. These two picks right here
- 12:36Speaker 1: to be co chieftains of the MIPD Chaplaincy, are going
- 12:40Speaker 1: to be helping us have one leg up in New
- 12:46Speaker 1: York and it starts tomorrow, and I want to report
- 12:51Speaker 1: on it today. And because I've known them personally, I
- 12:55Speaker 1: wanted to talk about it more and give that endorsement
- 12:58Speaker 1: even more and say this is a great moment and
- 13:04Speaker 1: should be highlighted over some stupid halftime show, which was great, okay,
- 13:08Speaker 1: but the arguments about it stupid. This impacts us. This
- 13:14Speaker 1: pick is so important I might even call off Tarmanhao's
- 13:18Speaker 1: take Talkstaberl tomorrow because I want this to take precedent
- 13:21Speaker 1: today because it has to be known that these two
- 13:26Speaker 1: men are coming together. And Ryan, I think you agree.
- 13:30Speaker 1: I've been in a unique position to be at MCA
- 13:33Speaker 1: for all these years to know about this, and to
- 13:35Speaker 1: also be in a position with with John cass see
- 13:38Speaker 1: how Cardon Dolan talks. I'm in a unique position to
- 13:40Speaker 1: talk about this, and so of course it would hit
- 13:43Speaker 1: my wire that these two men are coming together. And
- 13:46Speaker 1: I'm sure as a city guy yourself, you're happy that
- 13:49Speaker 1: these two are coming together and picked by Pictish. No,
- 13:52Speaker 1: for sure.
- 13:53Speaker 2: I mean the fact that she's gonna be staying on
- 13:56Speaker 2: to oversee this, and not only that, but see Ar
- 14:00Speaker 2: Bernard and Cardinal Dolan take on these new positions, especially
- 14:04Speaker 2: in a time of uncertainty for the city. I mean,
- 14:06Speaker 2: you really hit the nail on the hammer, or that
- 14:09Speaker 2: you really hit the hammer on.
- 14:11Speaker 1: The nail head.
- 14:12Speaker 2: Yeah, it hit me, but no, it sums up perfectly
- 14:17Speaker 2: what these next few months could look like for the city,
- 14:19Speaker 2: and especially you having the inside track, the inside connection
- 14:23Speaker 2: to these people. And I mean look, we've had similar connections.
- 14:28Speaker 2: I don't really know them as well as say you,
- 14:31Speaker 2: but even having mutual connections through John Katzmatitis.
- 14:35Speaker 1: First, Cardinal Dolans remember my dad and when my dad
- 14:38Speaker 1: wasn't well, he asked Margo kats Matitis, how's my dad doing?
- 14:44Speaker 1: And I thought, here's a guy that runs the city's
- 14:47Speaker 1: archdiocese and is one of the busiest people in New
- 14:49Speaker 1: York and he remember my dad. I mean, this is
- 14:51Speaker 1: the kind of guy Cardinal Dolan is and who he
- 14:55Speaker 1: will be with the chaplains. And remember, unfortunately in his term,
- 14:59Speaker 1: we've had numerous funerals there for police and firefighters.
- 15:05Speaker 2: This also really just goes to show, though, how personable
- 15:08Speaker 2: that these new hires can be, and you know, especially
- 15:12Speaker 2: having that personal connection to them just makes it feel
- 15:15Speaker 2: all the more special. So you know, that's not something
- 15:18Speaker 2: I can really say firsthand because I don't know Cardinal
- 15:22Speaker 2: Dolan personally. I don't know we are, but our personally
- 15:24Speaker 2: I know you do, of course, but you know, even
- 15:26Speaker 2: to you know, have mutual acquaintances, let's put it that way,
- 15:33Speaker 2: that makes it feel all the more special.
- 15:35Speaker 1: And I know you're feeling that right now. I am
- 15:37Speaker 1: because I'm thinking of the timeline here. Tis gets appointed
- 15:41Speaker 1: by Adams. Unfortunately, then a couple of months later, Pope
- 15:46Speaker 1: Francis passes Dolan campaigd for Pope Leo, which I don't
- 15:54Speaker 1: want to say was his demise because I don't know.
- 15:57Speaker 1: Maybe Pop Leo and other plans for cardinald besides being
- 16:01Speaker 1: the cardinal of the same pat of the Archdia says
- 16:04Speaker 1: of Saint Patrick's. But Cardinal Dolan asked to resigned by
- 16:09Speaker 1: Pope Leo. Again, not going to speculate. At the same time,
- 16:15Speaker 1: as this far left socialist is about to be elected
- 16:20Speaker 1: in the city, We're saying here we're losing one of
- 16:23Speaker 1: the biggest faith leaders while this transition is going on,
- 16:27Speaker 1: what do we do? Tis comes up with the idea
- 16:31Speaker 1: to bring him on as NYPD chaplain starting tomorrow co chaplain.
- 16:38Speaker 1: I think this move will set the course for the
- 16:43Speaker 1: NYPD for the protection of our city for a long time.
- 16:49Speaker 1: And this is the biggest move since Jessica Tishrue took
- 16:54Speaker 1: office that she's done, and I am so proud of
- 16:57Speaker 1: her for making this move. I'm proud of Cardinal Dolan
- 16:59Speaker 1: for stay in the city. I'm very happy staying in
- 17:01Speaker 1: the city and for Air Bernard to join forces. Here.
- 17:07Speaker 1: Quite a moment, and it's worth the one leg up
- 17:12Speaker 1: Alex News update because it's beyond faith. It is a
- 17:18Speaker 1: call to action to keep our city unified through these
- 17:22Speaker 1: two men, and to keep our city safe through these
- 17:25Speaker 1: two men starting tomorrow as chaplain of the NPD. It's
- 17:29Speaker 1: such a New York story, but it feels national at
- 17:31Speaker 1: the same time, because if you want to save city,
- 17:35Speaker 1: you have these two men leading the charge in the
- 17:38Speaker 1: most spiritual, christ like religious way. And I have to
- 17:46Speaker 1: believe because he is I have to believe cause he
- 17:53Speaker 1: is on the air with him. Maybe Rabbi Potasik also
- 17:56Speaker 1: makes an appearance here and there as part of the
- 17:58Speaker 1: NYPD Chaplain c team, so I can say in the
- 18:05Speaker 1: first couple months with authority, Azrite says, I've known these
- 18:09Speaker 1: people forever. We're in good hands and I haven't felt
- 18:14Speaker 1: this kind of assurance in a while, But we are
- 18:23Speaker 1: in good hands thanks to these picks. It's monumental and
- 18:30Speaker 1: I hope to one day get to one of those
- 18:33Speaker 1: chaplain meetings at one Police Plaza to see these two
- 18:36Speaker 1: men in action, boosting them around of the NYPD. And
- 18:43Speaker 1: I'm gonna send this to him. I want to say
- 18:44Speaker 1: thanks to John Katz. I really feel this connection happened.
- 18:46Speaker 1: He's had Commissioner Tishawn before, he's had Cardinal Dolan on,
- 18:50Speaker 1: he has aar Bernard on the radio. I think he
- 18:53Speaker 1: played a role in this. I really I gotta give
- 18:57Speaker 1: him credit here. And he may say no, but I
- 18:59Speaker 1: think he's got role in this because he's so connected
- 19:01Speaker 1: to the city like that, and he's brought these forces
- 19:05Speaker 1: together and you bet yeah, he's so connect with Cardinal.
- 19:10Speaker 1: I'm sorry. He was saying, how do I keep this
- 19:12Speaker 1: man in the city? And this is how he does it,
- 19:14Speaker 1: you know, through this and Jessica just listen. That's my
- 19:18Speaker 1: deduction here, so we'll see if I'm right. I'm Alex Scarett.
- 19:22Speaker 1: One leg up news. We'll talk about the super Bowl tomorrow,
- 19:25Speaker 1: but this is this is major that I blew out
- 19:30Speaker 1: everything else I was going to talk about to deal
- 19:32Speaker 1: with this. And that's how breaking news goes. You put
- 19:36Speaker 1: everything aside when you know something is the right move
- 19:41Speaker 1: and the right thing to talk about and the godly
- 19:44Speaker 1: thing to talk about, because this is godly for New
- 19:47Speaker 1: York and spiritual too, and should keep us feeling assured
- 19:53Speaker 1: we're gonna be okay, even as the temperatures are below
- 19:56Speaker 1: freezing right now. We're gonna be okay starting tomorrow of
- 19:59Speaker 1: February tenth, for the better. I'm Alex Garett. Once again,
- 20:04Speaker 1: talk to you on the one look Up Network. Thanks
- 20:06Speaker 1: to Ryan for chiming in with me today on this
- 20:09Speaker 1: breaking news story. Thanks to Good Newsroom,
