- 1:01Speaker 1: Now, especially because Matthew Berry went over to PEACOCKC So
- 1:06Speaker 1: it was a good move for Fieldy Eights that Matthew Berry.
- 1:08Speaker 3: Left because it was them too.
- 1:10Speaker 1: Yeah, because Matthew Berry was like the fantasy guy and
- 1:14Speaker 1: still is a big but now it's ESPN is such
- 1:17Speaker 1: a big platform for fantasy.
- 1:18Speaker 3: Field famous because I mean, we all know him.
- 1:21Speaker 1: Famous if you're a famous sports No, I would say,
- 1:24Speaker 1: I don't even know him as much from fantasy as
- 1:26Speaker 1: I do just on ESPNA.
- 1:28Speaker 4: Overall, he's all over NFL live all that stuff, and.
- 1:32Speaker 1: I usually win my fantasy league. As evidence of our
- 1:35Speaker 1: league this year, I finished second last year in our league.
- 1:37Speaker 1: But so you know, I don't really go to the
- 1:39Speaker 1: experts of fantasy.
- 1:40Speaker 3: I just go to me.
- 1:40Speaker 1: I'm like, what do you feel today? And I'm like, well,
- 1:42Speaker 1: Im glad you asked. And then I sell me a
- 1:44Speaker 1: subscription service.
- 1:45Speaker 5: Wow.
- 1:46Speaker 1: Yeah, so I subscribe to my own newsletter about fantasy.
- 1:48Speaker 3: That's cool, man, Yeah, and that's why you win.
- 1:50Speaker 4: Are you the only loan subscriber?
- 1:53Speaker 1: Yeah, just one, but we only have room for one. Yeah. Yeah,
- 1:56Speaker 1: Jim Harball to the Chargers. That's fun, right, all I
- 2:00Speaker 1: think about is how cool it is for him to
- 2:02Speaker 1: have to move to get to move from Michigan to
- 2:04Speaker 1: southern California. The weather is just gonna be great, no pressure.
- 2:08Speaker 1: It's not a five year deal.
- 2:10Speaker 2: Traffic though, dude, Yeah, but I think about just lives,
- 2:14Speaker 2: like get a helicopter.
- 2:16Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't think he's gonna I.
- 2:17Speaker 1: Don't think that's really an issue. You could for some
- 2:20Speaker 1: of that much more so.
- 2:21Speaker 2: That's why those guys get helicopters, because traffic's so bad,
- 2:23Speaker 2: they just fly into their office.
- 2:25Speaker 1: I mean, Kobe died because he was flying to but
- 2:27Speaker 1: that was It wasn't because the helicopter so much as
- 2:29Speaker 1: it was it was a cloudy day, the fog, probably
- 2:31Speaker 1: pilot error.
- 2:32Speaker 6: I drove home from work that night at like midnight,
- 2:35Speaker 6: literally the canyon area really, and it was fog. I'm
- 2:38Speaker 6: not even I'm not even kidding, like you remember it
- 2:39Speaker 6: being I remember, and I woke up or not woke up,
- 2:41Speaker 6: but it happened that morning or whatever. But I found
- 2:44Speaker 6: out the next day and I was like, that's sad
- 2:46Speaker 6: because I drove through like six hours before that whole
- 2:49Speaker 6: thing happened with him, and it was foggy. I couldn't
- 2:51Speaker 6: even drive, let alone be in the air in the helicopter.
- 2:54Speaker 1: Now, I'm not sure if this is true. It was
- 2:57Speaker 1: just a story I read, So take that, take this
- 2:58Speaker 1: whole thing with him, drain the salt. But did it
- 3:02Speaker 1: someone say that. Kobe was like, no, we have to go,
- 3:05Speaker 1: like that's what they said, and I heard too, and
- 3:07Speaker 1: the hell the pilot was like, I don't know. He's
- 3:09Speaker 1: like no, no, And again it's Kobe and he's your boss,
- 3:12Speaker 1: and so you're like.
- 3:13Speaker 2: All right, yeah, kind of rule of thumb you should
- 3:16Speaker 2: never tell the pilot like when they think they you
- 3:19Speaker 2: should fly, did they kind of know like what when
- 3:22Speaker 2: to fly and when not to fly? And I think
- 3:23Speaker 2: one pilot said one time too, it was like, you know,
- 3:26Speaker 2: I want to save my life too, Like I don't
- 3:28Speaker 2: want to put.
- 3:28Speaker 6: My life yeah too, yeah, yeah, but he would take
- 3:31Speaker 6: that to practice. Actually, tomorrow is the anniversary that really. Yeah,
- 3:34Speaker 6: it's a weird day to wake up and read that very.
- 3:38Speaker 2: I was on my way to your house. We were
- 3:39Speaker 2: going to do a podcast or something. And that's the
- 3:41Speaker 2: first thing is they want to walk in like what I.
- 3:43Speaker 1: Watched some of these Kobe, Well, let me get on
- 3:46Speaker 1: Harball real quick and finish this. Yeah, Jim Harball to
- 3:48Speaker 1: the Chargers, why this is a good job.
- 3:50Speaker 5: One.
- 3:51Speaker 1: Nobody cares about the team really. They don't have a
- 3:53Speaker 1: passionate fan base. They have some passionate fans, but it's
- 3:57Speaker 1: not like that team is a team that has ihards
- 4:00Speaker 1: because it's all they have. Like when you look at
- 4:02Speaker 1: Diehards for the most part, Green Bay, what do they have.
- 4:07Speaker 1: They have a couple of sports teams in Wisconsin, the Brewers,
- 4:11Speaker 1: the Bob But I mean that's that's their central.
- 4:14Speaker 3: Huge fan base.
- 4:15Speaker 1: I look at Cowboys, well, the Cowboys have a lot,
- 4:17Speaker 1: but they've been around forever yep so, and they've been good.
- 4:20Speaker 1: They had they had really great years. The Steelers, Pittsburgh
- 4:23Speaker 1: die hard. Pittsburgh not one of the biggest media markets.
- 4:27Speaker 1: So for the most part, LA has been tough for teams.
- 4:31Speaker 1: What teams have moved in and out of LA just generally, Yeah,
- 4:34Speaker 1: the Raiders, the Rams, the Chargers now, so whenever they
- 4:40Speaker 1: have home games there, it's like sixty percent the other
- 4:43Speaker 1: teams if it's a big passionate fan base. That being said,
- 4:46Speaker 1: the pressure is not going to be crazy on him
- 4:47Speaker 1: to win in the first year or two years because
- 4:52Speaker 1: they're a bit apathetic. It will happen because they're paying
- 4:56Speaker 1: up a bunch of money. But it's not like he's
- 4:58Speaker 1: walking into the hot stove. Yeah, the pressure is not
- 5:03Speaker 1: really on, and he's won everywhere, so if it doesn't
- 5:06Speaker 1: work immediately, you're like, hey, it's a process. I've won
- 5:09Speaker 1: every single place I've been.
- 5:10Speaker 4: Yeah, give it time, literally everywhere.
- 5:12Speaker 6: Yeah, San Diego, Stanford, Stanford, San Francisco, Michigan.
- 5:17Speaker 1: Michigan took a little longer, but yeah, he still won
- 5:20Speaker 1: a national championship. So what are you gonna say? He
- 5:22Speaker 1: came out in Ohio State with so much bigger and better,
- 5:25Speaker 1: and Ohio State whooped that butt for years until they
- 5:28Speaker 1: just didn't anymore and then it was over.
- 5:30Speaker 3: Yeah, so what's going on with clearing his name on this? Uh?
- 5:33Speaker 1: Who needs? Who cares?
- 5:34Speaker 4: He's done?
- 5:34Speaker 3: It doesn't matter who cares.
- 5:35Speaker 1: They probably gona hire the offensive coordinator as the head coach
- 5:37Speaker 1: over there. Yeah, the OC who was the head coach
- 5:41Speaker 1: when he was suspended every game this year because he's
- 5:43Speaker 1: basically spended every game.
- 5:44Speaker 4: It's funny.
- 5:45Speaker 6: I saw his face and I was like, I've seen
- 5:46Speaker 6: that guys so much and that's why because he was
- 5:48Speaker 6: gone for six game.
- 5:49Speaker 1: Yeah, he'd be yeah, he'd be crying at the end
- 5:50Speaker 1: of the games.
- 5:51Speaker 4: Yes, and this one's for you.
- 5:53Speaker 1: Yeah. More he'd be like this for coach Harball the
- 5:58Speaker 1: word yeah. So I'm sure he's legit. Yeah, and he
- 6:04Speaker 1: gets to keep that staff. For the most part. I
- 6:06Speaker 1: think Carball leaves and takes one of the Harball boys
- 6:10Speaker 1: like his uh, his brother on staff or maybe his
- 6:13Speaker 1: brothers with John they have a third there's another Hardball
- 6:17Speaker 1: special teams I think maybe the special teams coordinator at
- 6:21Speaker 1: Michigan or at Baltimore, meaning one of the Harrballs coached
- 6:27Speaker 1: over one of the other Harballs.
- 6:30Speaker 6: I know the defensive coordinator for the Ravens was the
- 6:32Speaker 6: defensive coordinator for the Michigan for the brother How many
- 6:36Speaker 6: Harball brothers are I just see sisters.
- 6:38Speaker 1: Well, then she coaches, But there could be another Harball
- 6:42Speaker 1: that coaches.
- 6:43Speaker 3: On his staff that's not related.
- 6:45Speaker 4: Maybe that's the wife and.
- 6:49Speaker 1: Mike, will you go go that Harball.
- 6:51Speaker 3: I'm not seeing them.
- 6:52Speaker 1: Okay, Well, I'm an idiot. I'm almost positive it's a
- 6:54Speaker 1: weird one to make up, though, Man, I know, unless
- 6:57Speaker 1: somebody gotten good.
- 6:58Speaker 4: It's probably what's his name, the guy who got Lemon
- 7:02Speaker 4: in trouble?
- 7:03Speaker 3: Oh, part of it all the military guy.
- 7:05Speaker 4: Yeah, he probably used that ID one.
- 7:08Speaker 3: So all that Pete Carroll stuff like that was just
- 7:10Speaker 3: a joke or something. What do you mean like that?
- 7:12Speaker 3: The charge were talking to Pete Carroll fucking everybody.
- 7:14Speaker 1: They did interviews with many coaches. Yeah, but Jay Harball.
- 7:18Speaker 1: In nine seasons at Michigan, JA Harball's may considered the
- 7:20Speaker 1: most versatile coach, having work with tight ends, running back
- 7:22Speaker 1: the most recently safeties. He was assistant special team's cooridator
- 7:24Speaker 1: for four years before becoming special teams coordinator for the
- 7:26Speaker 1: last four years at Michigan.
- 7:27Speaker 3: Yeah, you guys, suck it. His name's Jay.
- 7:30Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 7:30Speaker 4: Is he a son or yeah, he's got a son
- 7:32Speaker 4: at Jim exactly. Okay, all right, I knew there was
- 7:35Speaker 4: a Harball.
- 7:35Speaker 3: Hey man, I didn't. I never doubted you. You did
- 7:38Speaker 3: not mean not mean I.
- 7:39Speaker 1: Did, though I doubt it. So that's the big news
- 7:42Speaker 1: that Jim Harball is going over what's up with your
- 7:43Speaker 1: boy Belichick? He going to Atlanta or No?
- 7:45Speaker 4: Man, it's not looking good right now.
- 7:47Speaker 3: Nobody wants him.
- 7:48Speaker 1: They're saying that's the only team because most people feel
- 7:52Speaker 1: he's just trying to beat Shula, not that he's gonna
- 7:55Speaker 1: go put down route. He's also older.
- 7:56Speaker 3: Okay, that means a win, sure what you want.
- 8:00Speaker 1: Yeah, but I mean if that's your only motivation for
- 8:03Speaker 1: like two years, a year and a half, and then
- 8:05Speaker 1: you're gonna leave, you're gonna build something to leave it.
- 8:07Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 8:07Speaker 3: I don't think.
- 8:08Speaker 1: I don't want an old coach.
- 8:08Speaker 4: To carrely like he doesn't have more than five years
- 8:10Speaker 4: you would think.
- 8:11Speaker 3: Living or coaching both.
- 8:15Speaker 1: They'll probably a lot of jobs open up next year,
- 8:17Speaker 1: although will be there's always a bunch of jobs. But
- 8:20Speaker 1: the Cowboys will open up next year.
- 8:22Speaker 3: What do you mean you don't know that.
- 8:24Speaker 2: You don't know that if they win the whole thing,
- 8:25Speaker 2: there's no job opening up.
- 8:27Speaker 1: I'm just playing him.
- 8:28Speaker 3: Next year might be or our year.
- 8:29Speaker 1: You're right, it could be now, so the Cowboys could
- 8:31Speaker 1: open up next year. That I feel like if the
- 8:35Speaker 1: Eagles don't win, Sirianni's out. I feel like ebra Fluss's
- 8:38Speaker 1: he doesn't. He's not gonna get a start over just
- 8:40Speaker 1: because they're drafting.
- 8:41Speaker 3: A rookie quarterback. The Eagles got rid of a lot
- 8:43Speaker 3: of people.
- 8:43Speaker 1: They did, but not their head coach.
- 8:45Speaker 6: No, not that Yeah, yeah, Ben Johnson of the coordinator, Yeah,
- 8:49Speaker 6: there's still some opening. Yeah, I don't know, but Belichick,
- 8:51Speaker 6: that's I think it's kind of showing us you know
- 8:53Speaker 6: what everybody else thinks.
- 8:55Speaker 1: Does that hurt your feelings a little bit? He's like
- 8:57Speaker 1: you you're a dire Patriots fan. Yeah, no it doesn't.
- 8:59Speaker 4: I stand it.
- 9:00Speaker 6: Like we were just saying, how many more years does
- 9:01Speaker 6: he have in them? So if you build something and
- 9:03Speaker 6: then leave, then you got to start over again if
- 9:05Speaker 6: they even win anything.
- 9:07Speaker 1: What if he can't get a job, and the only
- 9:08Speaker 1: reason he can't beat that shula is because he can't coach.
- 9:11Speaker 6: That makes me sad, Like if he can't get a job,
- 9:13Speaker 6: he'll get a job somewhere. But if he can't get
- 9:15Speaker 6: a head coaching job, that makes me.
- 9:17Speaker 1: Like Walmart, Well, he ain't gonna take a coordinator job.
- 9:20Speaker 4: He can come on Whistles, Starbucks.
- 9:22Speaker 1: That's true. He come on Whistles or Starbucks.
- 9:25Speaker 3: Be a terrible customer. Services you want? What do you want?
- 9:28Speaker 3: We're out of copt it?
- 9:29Speaker 1: Oh yeah, what was I talking about? I was gonna
- 9:33Speaker 1: come back to it.
- 9:33Speaker 3: Kobe, Yeah, Kobe.
- 9:36Speaker 1: Oh, I'll watch these videos. It's Kobe and MJ and
- 9:41Speaker 1: in a different way Larry Bird. But part of my
- 9:43Speaker 1: TikTok is a bunch of nineties and early two thousands
- 9:46Speaker 1: basketball or podcasts from like All That Smoke or what
- 9:51Speaker 1: is that podcast called Up and Smoke? Up and Smoke show.
- 9:53Speaker 1: The Showtime Now bought it, so that'll come up a lot.
- 9:55Speaker 1: It's Up and Smoke is it? It's called whatever it is.
- 9:59Speaker 1: I just watched on TikTok.
- 10:00Speaker 4: That's what Matt Barnes y.
- 10:03Speaker 1: And so they talk about Kobe in a way of
- 10:06Speaker 1: like man, even even Michael, all the smoke, all the smoke,
- 10:10Speaker 1: Thank you, even Michael. They're like Michael's crazy man, Like
- 10:15Speaker 1: he'd see you walking the parking lot before game. He
- 10:18Speaker 1: come up and stab you right right in your shin
- 10:22Speaker 1: with a butter knife and you bleed. And then he'd
- 10:24Speaker 1: see you on the court and be like ha ha, man,
- 10:26Speaker 1: that guys a competitor. You're like what the weird or
- 10:29Speaker 1: like Kobe, Kobe come out here. He'd be like, hey,
- 10:32Speaker 1: you like with your mom and he'd be like what, no,
- 10:35Speaker 1: you didn't you just try to get in my head
- 10:36Speaker 1: and then you'd look and your mom text you and
- 10:37Speaker 1: be like, yeah, it's ext with Kobe, You're like, he's
- 10:40Speaker 1: a competitor.
- 10:41Speaker 3: I what a great competitor.
- 10:42Speaker 1: I know it's like all these awful human traits, but
- 10:48Speaker 1: that they only end up going and that's what made
- 10:50Speaker 1: him a competitor, man. And I feel like a little bit.
- 10:53Speaker 1: Kobe has been turned into more of a hero after
- 10:58Speaker 1: he died. Yes, that happens with every everybody, right, he
- 11:00Speaker 1: didn't die why he was playing. He died after he
- 11:02Speaker 1: was retired already. But the stories are wild about them. Yeah, man,
- 11:06Speaker 1: Like once I bought some crypto and I looked and
- 11:09Speaker 1: and it all been stolen. I was part of a
- 11:11Speaker 1: fraud scheme. And I got on a court and I
- 11:13Speaker 1: went two for twelve that night, and Kobe said it's
- 11:15Speaker 1: because I stole your crypto, and.
- 11:17Speaker 3: He really did.
- 11:19Speaker 1: But that guy, he knew how to compete, dude. Yes, yes,
- 11:26Speaker 1: that's what. There's like a fine line whiche been a
- 11:28Speaker 1: bad dude and like and they'd be like, yeah, man,
- 11:31Speaker 1: rest in peace, Rest in peace. So but Jordan has
- 11:34Speaker 1: a bunch of those stories. Kobe has munch of those stories.
- 11:36Speaker 1: I'm on Larry Bird Twitter too. Now, Larry's stories aren't
- 11:39Speaker 1: like that, but Larry talked more garbage than anybody ever
- 11:42Speaker 1: in the history of the world, and it's hilarious. She'll
- 11:44Speaker 1: have all these guys come out and be like, Larry
- 11:46Speaker 1: Bird saw me as like, you're gonna let him guard me,
- 11:50Speaker 1: and he'd be like yeah, And I go to my
- 11:52Speaker 1: coach and like, yeah, I got I got the white boy,
- 11:55Speaker 1: and and Larry'd be like, yeah, okay, I'm about to
- 11:58Speaker 1: show this kid what's up with a dunk? Right hand,
- 12:02Speaker 1: touch my knee, slap your mama, don't continue a dunk
- 12:06Speaker 1: on me, just like he said, hey walked, or.
- 12:08Speaker 3: Slap my mama.
- 12:10Speaker 4: What about that one game where he played left handed?
- 12:12Speaker 1: Or yeah, when he got to a point, just played
- 12:13Speaker 1: left handed.
- 12:14Speaker 3: That's crazy.
- 12:15Speaker 1: He's like, I'm playing left Yeah, he scored like forty
- 12:16Speaker 1: or whatever it was already he's left handed. Show you
- 12:20Speaker 1: the Larry Bird stuff is crazy because he's he was
- 12:22Speaker 1: six nine six ' ten but playing as a guard ish.
- 12:25Speaker 1: He's a forward obviously, but it could handle.
- 12:26Speaker 3: He could shoot.
- 12:28Speaker 1: There are some of those older videos of those guys
- 12:30Speaker 1: that I watch and I'm blown away at how advanced
- 12:33Speaker 1: they were Larry Bird. One of them didn't quite understand
- 12:36Speaker 1: it then because I was a young kid, but he
- 12:38Speaker 1: was doing stuff this some of the big guys are
- 12:40Speaker 1: doing now and they're considered progressive in the NBA. But
- 12:43Speaker 1: like Pistol Pete, there was no three point line for
- 12:47Speaker 1: much much of his career in the NBA. There's not
- 12:50Speaker 1: in college, and he was averaging forty a game in college.
- 12:52Speaker 1: No three point line. And Pistol Pete and the Celtic
- 13:00Speaker 1: U Michel No no, no, no, no way back, Bob Coosey.
- 13:04Speaker 1: Oh to watch Bob Coosey black and White go behind
- 13:06Speaker 1: the back throw those passes like Jason.
- 13:10Speaker 6: Uh not kid on the back Williams.
- 13:15Speaker 1: Jason Williams. Yeah, Yes, It's crazy to see these guys
- 13:19Speaker 1: old like that doing that. And they were so far
- 13:21Speaker 1: ahead of their game that it was just weird.
- 13:23Speaker 3: You imagine they knew the euro step.
- 13:26Speaker 1: I watched Jason Wayn's playing rec League. Sometimes you ever
- 13:28Speaker 1: see that dude because now he plays and they're like
- 13:30Speaker 1: travel does I travels? That was five.
- 13:33Speaker 3: It is crazy when they call travel on a dude player.
- 13:36Speaker 1: It's funny.
- 13:37Speaker 4: He was awesome. He was like an and one guy
- 13:39Speaker 4: out there playing NBA.
- 13:40Speaker 1: He was awesome. So Harball thumbs up Kobe r P
- 13:46Speaker 1: RP man MJ kind of a bad dude.
- 13:49Speaker 3: So I have this quick story.
- 13:50Speaker 2: I was at the y and I was just playing
- 13:52Speaker 2: a little bit with my kids or whatever, and this man,
- 13:55Speaker 2: old man comes up, probably like eighty almost ninety old dude.
- 13:58Speaker 2: He was working out. Hey, come up to me. He's like,
- 14:00Speaker 2: you like basketball, Like, yes, sir, I do. And he said,
- 14:03Speaker 2: let me tell you a story. He's like back in
- 14:04Speaker 2: the nineties, early ninety whatever. He's like, I had a
- 14:07Speaker 2: really rich friend of mine. He invited me to his
- 14:09Speaker 2: house in Chicago. We spent the weekend together. He said, Hey,
- 14:12Speaker 2: Michael Jordan's a friend of mine. He's like, he's having
- 14:14Speaker 2: a party at his house. When it comes he's like yeah.
- 14:17Speaker 2: So he went to Michael Jordan's house, had a party,
- 14:19Speaker 2: and he had a game. The next day. We spend
- 14:20Speaker 2: the night at his house. Next day, Michael says, you
- 14:22Speaker 2: guys want to go to the game. I'm taking off
- 14:23Speaker 2: in like an hour.
- 14:25Speaker 3: Yeah. We jumped the.
- 14:25Speaker 2: Shower, got dressed, We get in Michael's car. We're driving
- 14:28Speaker 2: to the game, and we see Scottie Pippen broken down
- 14:32Speaker 2: on the side of the road and we're like, Mike,
- 14:34Speaker 2: that's Scottie Pippeny.
- 14:35Speaker 3: He's like, yeah, screw, he just.
- 14:37Speaker 2: Kept driving and he said you don't want to go help.
- 14:40Speaker 2: He's like, nah, I don't need that dude, and he'll
- 14:42Speaker 2: figure it out. If he doesn't make the game, we'll
- 14:43Speaker 2: just play without him. And we were like, well, that's crazy,
- 14:46Speaker 2: and sure enough he said. We got to the We
- 14:49Speaker 2: got to the game. We're in the locker room or whatever,
- 14:50Speaker 2: and Scotty Pippen comes in. He's like, dude, did you
- 14:52Speaker 2: you just drove past me? He didn't help. He's like, well,
- 14:54Speaker 2: I figured I told you punk. He's like, I don't
- 14:56Speaker 2: need you on my team. He said, I don't need
- 14:59Speaker 2: you on my team. I figure you.
- 15:00Speaker 3: Just figure maybe you'd miss the game and we be
- 15:02Speaker 3: all right. We'd win by twenty points. Anyway.
- 15:05Speaker 2: He said, that's a crazy story, believe it or not,
- 15:07Speaker 2: and the old man walked away.
- 15:08Speaker 4: I was like, what, just some random dude, is this
- 15:11Speaker 4: a story?
- 15:12Speaker 1: Was horse grant horse grit? Probably a little bit amplified. Yeah,
- 15:19Speaker 1: probably some truth to it.
- 15:20Speaker 2: I guess it's just weird to see an old man
- 15:22Speaker 2: come up to like just a random person, be like,
- 15:24Speaker 2: I have a story for this guy.
- 15:25Speaker 3: He might enjoy this.
- 15:26Speaker 1: In his head, he's thinking, I know I'm gonna die soon,
- 15:28Speaker 1: so I want to share all my stories.
- 15:30Speaker 4: Yeah, he just picks random people in the gym every day.
- 15:33Speaker 2: But there there are so many Okay, okay, what ethnicity
- 15:39Speaker 2: am I?
- 15:40Speaker 1: We talk about that last show where the one was like,
- 15:41Speaker 1: what ethnicity are you? Anything else?
- 15:46Speaker 2: You just hear so many Michael Jordan stories. You're like,
- 15:48Speaker 2: all right, that's the kind of duty is. But it's
- 15:51Speaker 2: all because even when I saw the last Dance, I'm like,
- 15:53Speaker 2: I don't want Yeah, I would never be this dude's
- 15:55Speaker 2: friend ever.
- 15:56Speaker 1: He's so driven. You know, there's a fine line were
- 15:59Speaker 1: driven and a bad dude.
- 16:01Speaker 4: Yeah he's an a hole. Yeah for sure.
- 16:02Speaker 1: Sometimes you have to be an a whole time. But
- 16:06Speaker 1: it just seemed like he he's very bad dude sometimes
- 16:10Speaker 1: for sure. All Right, let's go tittle tattle.
- 16:16Speaker 6: The following the announcement of The Rock being appointed to
- 16:23Speaker 6: a board of directors of TKO Group, If you could
- 16:26Speaker 6: join the board of one company, which would it be?
- 16:29Speaker 1: I think the headline too with the Rock thing was
- 16:30Speaker 1: he gets to have the name of the Rock. Yeah
- 16:32Speaker 1: that too, because that never really was owned by him,
- 16:35Speaker 1: which is why I really try to go by Dwayne Johnson.
- 16:37Speaker 1: But he just couldn't shake the Rock. So we know,
- 16:39Speaker 1: imagine he comes back and wrestles occasionally, so he's.
- 16:41Speaker 7: Still the Rock.
- 16:42Speaker 3: What's the company t k O?
- 16:43Speaker 1: Which is UFC WWE Oh wow together that school?
- 16:47Speaker 3: I didn't know that was one company.
- 16:48Speaker 1: Yeah pretty recently, right, didn't they buy them? I believe
- 16:51Speaker 1: most of them? So yeah, the Rock's gonna be on
- 16:53Speaker 1: the board. But the Rock also has you know, uh,
- 16:55Speaker 1: interest in the whole Spring football now because they've combined
- 16:58Speaker 1: those leagues too.
- 16:59Speaker 4: Yeah, USFL and XFL.
- 17:02Speaker 1: Right, yeah, so yeah, Rock's all over that. So thick,
- 17:05Speaker 1: he's so thick. I never seen him in person, humongous,
- 17:08Speaker 1: but he looks humongous on TV, like thick, even thicker
- 17:11Speaker 1: than the thick guys when he comes out. Kids, he
- 17:12Speaker 1: came out and wrestled again. Yeah, he was bigger than
- 17:14Speaker 1: the wrestlers.
- 17:15Speaker 3: Yeah, but they sick cameras at like seven pounds.
- 17:18Speaker 1: Bro, I'm telling you, he looks like seven thousand muscle pounds.
- 17:21Speaker 6: You follo him on Instagram, Dude, he works out every
- 17:24Speaker 6: day and he looks thick every day.
- 17:26Speaker 1: I would put myself. Oh, speaking of wrestling, you see
- 17:28Speaker 1: where Netflix signed WW five billion dollar deal to stream Raw. Yeah,
- 17:33Speaker 1: yeah right, Mike, Yeah, you guys watch that. I watched
- 17:38Speaker 1: the news when they tell Netflix stories.
- 17:40Speaker 3: No, I'm saying Raw, like I don't. I haven't watched.
- 17:42Speaker 3: My kids don't watch that, Like I don't know anyone
- 17:44Speaker 3: that watches it.
- 17:44Speaker 1: No, I don't, but it's huge. Wrestling is massive. Again, really,
- 17:48Speaker 1: I started watching again when Sneak in the Grass would
- 17:50Speaker 1: come on, because it would he would lead right into it.
- 17:52Speaker 3: Hey, I kind of like this.
- 17:54Speaker 4: Yeah, they had it in Nashville too, or the Royal Yeah.
- 17:58Speaker 1: Yeah, billion dollars to be able to air Raw on Netflix. Yeah,
- 18:03Speaker 1: I know on Peacock. It's been a lot of the
- 18:06Speaker 1: wrestling has been on Peacock, and I'm not sure if
- 18:08Speaker 1: they own part of that or if it's being taken
- 18:11Speaker 1: off or maybe it's coming from Usually.
- 18:13Speaker 6: It doesn't start till next year, so maybe that's ending
- 18:16Speaker 6: that contract.
- 18:16Speaker 1: So what board would I want to be on. I'd
- 18:18Speaker 1: want to be on the NFL board because the first
- 18:20Speaker 1: thing I would do is say, listen, you idiots. If
- 18:23Speaker 1: somebody gets called for pass interference. We need to get
- 18:25Speaker 1: the quarterback those yards because you eliminated any chance for
- 18:28Speaker 1: them to get those Joe, he just do it. Thirty
- 18:29Speaker 1: five yards its pass interference. The receiver wasn't men able
- 18:31Speaker 1: to catch it. You called a flag. The quarterback and
- 18:33Speaker 1: the receiver get those yards. Yeah, the balls going there,
- 18:35Speaker 1: so somebody needs to get those yards. They're not dead yards.
- 18:36Speaker 3: So as far as the stats goes, Yes, okay, if.
- 18:39Speaker 1: You throw a pass, if it's a pass interference and
- 18:41Speaker 1: you've shut down the attempt, that's the first rule I
- 18:43Speaker 1: would change. Okay, thirty working on the fumble to the
- 18:45Speaker 1: end zone rule, which is stupid too. Yes, and then
- 18:48Speaker 1: I would go like, and if you know anybody in
- 18:49Speaker 1: the NBA board, when you get that assisting changed, where
- 18:52Speaker 1: if somebody gets fouled and they don't make their shots,
- 18:55Speaker 1: they make both free throws, the person gets an assist
- 18:57Speaker 1: that gave them the opportunity. Yea.
- 18:59Speaker 4: You're all about patent.
- 19:00Speaker 1: The stats, not patent giving people what they're due.
- 19:03Speaker 3: Yeah, clearing them up. What about bones.
- 19:05Speaker 2: When the quarterback throws a good pass, it gets tipped
- 19:09Speaker 2: and intercepted. Should the quarterback get the interception? Yeah, it
- 19:12Speaker 2: was a good pass.
- 19:12Speaker 1: But maybe he didn't thought right where needed to be.
- 19:14Speaker 3: Oh he did, No, No, he did.
- 19:17Speaker 1: But the receiver, there's no penalty there, there's no penalty.
- 19:19Speaker 2: Yeah, the status he gets an interception was having a
- 19:22Speaker 2: great season.
- 19:23Speaker 1: But I'm saying there's no penalty involved in that play.
- 19:25Speaker 1: Oh as far as likes interference, like there is an
- 19:27Speaker 1: actual this has been done wrong. You have been wronged,
- 19:30Speaker 1: receiver and quarterback. I shall throw a piece of yellow
- 19:33Speaker 1: to reflect how wrong you've done, and we shall give
- 19:36Speaker 1: you what you deserve, your yards. So I think they
- 19:39Speaker 1: should also give them the yards.
- 19:40Speaker 3: And that'd be cool if the refs talk like that.
- 19:44Speaker 1: Yes, well, if they knocked out, and then I'd put
- 19:48Speaker 1: myself on the iHeartRadio board, Art media board, I give
- 19:51Speaker 1: you guys raises what that would be awesome first thing
- 19:53Speaker 1: I would do. Everybody, thank you. I know I just
- 19:55Speaker 1: came off the NFL board, but I'm excited to be
- 19:57Speaker 1: here on the iron board. I got three people I
- 19:59Speaker 1: want to give right, and then I'd retire. So all right,
- 20:03Speaker 1: next up?
- 20:03Speaker 4: All right?
- 20:04Speaker 6: At seven point dogs open the week. Do you think
- 20:06Speaker 6: Vegas is disrespecting the Lions in the NFC Championship.
- 20:11Speaker 1: No, because Vegas doesn't really do it based on what
- 20:16Speaker 1: they feel. They do it based on what they think
- 20:18Speaker 1: people will feel about it, meaning they don't really care
- 20:21Speaker 1: what the line is. They just want to be fifty
- 20:22Speaker 1: to fifty, and so they set a line that they
- 20:26Speaker 1: think is going to make people bet fifty to fifty
- 20:27Speaker 1: because they get a you bet a dollar, they'll take
- 20:30Speaker 1: a nickel, and then you're playing with ninety five cents
- 20:32Speaker 1: on the bet, So you bet a dollar, they're taking
- 20:33Speaker 1: a nickel. Anyway, you get ninety five cents that you're
- 20:36Speaker 1: using for the bet. But they want it to be
- 20:38Speaker 1: bet so down the middle, they have no risk and
- 20:40Speaker 1: they're only collecting everybody's nickel. So they're creating a line
- 20:45Speaker 1: not for their own jollys. They're creating a line that
- 20:48Speaker 1: people will feel like, Oh, I think the Lions could
- 20:53Speaker 1: get seven points a win. No, I think the four
- 20:55Speaker 1: nineers get minus even, like right in the middle, and
- 20:57Speaker 1: so I think that they think that people disrespect the
- 21:03Speaker 1: Lions and want to give San Francisco the old minus
- 21:07Speaker 1: seven er. Oh does that make sense how I said it? Yes,
- 21:10Speaker 1: it does make sense.
- 21:12Speaker 2: However, there are some lines where you look at it
- 21:15Speaker 2: and you're like, yeah, I mean, obviously, I think it's
- 21:17Speaker 2: definitely splits the people.
- 21:18Speaker 3: San Francisco is a great team.
- 21:19Speaker 2: Everyone knows Samrancisco's really really good, and the Lions there's
- 21:22Speaker 2: a lot of hype, but realistically I think that, you know,
- 21:25Speaker 2: people think that the forty nine ers are much better teams,
- 21:27Speaker 2: so that line makes sense, right, But sometimes you get
- 21:30Speaker 2: the forty nine Ers and the Packers and their seasons
- 21:34Speaker 2: have been tremendously big difference, and then it's like minus one.
- 21:39Speaker 1: And you know what, that line will shift if a
- 21:40Speaker 1: whole bunch of people jump on one side, that line
- 21:43Speaker 1: will move. That's why it moves, because they're trying to
- 21:46Speaker 1: keep it balanced in the middle.
- 21:47Speaker 3: Yeah, I completely understand, and I agree with you.
- 21:49Speaker 1: So what they're doing is just setting that line to
- 21:51Speaker 1: try to find that middle spot. And if they can
- 21:54Speaker 1: hit perfect middle, they profit and they lose nothing. There's
- 21:59Speaker 1: no such thing as perfect, but that's that's kind of
- 22:01Speaker 1: the goal there.
- 22:03Speaker 2: Seven points in a playoff game, especially with the momentum
- 22:06Speaker 2: that the Lions have, seems like most people would just
- 22:09Speaker 2: bite it that.
- 22:09Speaker 1: But San Francisco is they're so good. The Lions are too,
- 22:13Speaker 1: But the Lions. If you're a casual better you probably
- 22:16Speaker 1: think the forty nine ers they're gonna kill the Lions.
- 22:19Speaker 1: Look at who knows if Debo's even playing like there's
- 22:22Speaker 1: all the nuanced parts of it. However, most people will
- 22:26Speaker 1: go San Franisco is awesome. The Lions, Well, that's a
- 22:28Speaker 1: cute little story. That's fun. They were on hard knocks.
- 22:31Speaker 1: So I don't think that Vegas is being disrespectful. I
- 22:35Speaker 1: think that Vegas knows. People don't really think the Lions
- 22:37Speaker 1: can keep up with the forty nine or so they've
- 22:39Speaker 1: made that line there. I would probably take, oh, I
- 22:45Speaker 1: don't know, as right in the middle. That's such a
- 22:46Speaker 1: good number that touchdown. If it was six, I would
- 22:49Speaker 1: go at the Lions.
- 22:50Speaker 3: Really ooh, it's just the seven points.
- 22:54Speaker 1: But even that, who knows. I'm just saying stupid stuff
- 22:56Speaker 1: at this point. I know right now I think, like
- 22:58Speaker 1: I thought, what because I'm gonna give you my partla
- 22:59Speaker 1: in a minute, because I'm I'm on a streak. But yeah, yeah,
- 23:04Speaker 1: I think the Lions are so good. They have the
- 23:05Speaker 1: personnel to actually play with San Francisco, which is pretty cool.
- 23:09Speaker 6: And what scares me the most is the Niners had
- 23:12Speaker 6: such a down game last game, and the Lions are
- 23:14Speaker 6: so up right now, and it could just.
- 23:16Speaker 1: Flip so easily. Definitely could or it could not flip exactly.
- 23:19Speaker 1: That's any given Sunday, right, boy, that's what they said.
- 23:22Speaker 1: That's right right. What else?
- 23:23Speaker 6: Last week showed how important kickers are? Do you think
- 23:26Speaker 6: the Ravens have the biggest X factor out of the
- 23:28Speaker 6: final four teams with Justin Tucker?
- 23:31Speaker 1: So I like Harrison Bucker a lot for the Chiefs.
- 23:33Speaker 1: He's pretty solid. And you know why I know him
- 23:35Speaker 1: so well? He plays on my Madden team.
- 23:38Speaker 3: This is why you know him.
- 23:39Speaker 1: Yeah, how good he is. He doesn't miss, He's awesome,
- 23:42Speaker 1: and so in our Madden league I have here.
- 23:44Speaker 3: Wait, he doesn't miss in Madden. Yeah, got you.
- 23:46Speaker 1: But he's ninety four percent with the Chiefs, so he
- 23:49Speaker 1: does miss occasionally. But Justin Tucker is so freaking clutch,
- 23:52Speaker 1: and so many.
- 23:53Speaker 3: Times he did miss this season.
- 23:54Speaker 1: Yeah, but that's okay. I remember Justin Tucker being clutch
- 23:57Speaker 1: when they beat Texas A and M on that kick,
- 24:00Speaker 1: oh yeah, his last kick in college. Like the last
- 24:02Speaker 1: time they played each other, Justin Tucker came up. You
- 24:05Speaker 1: rise detect us. Really, he's been clutch his whole life.
- 24:07Speaker 2: We lived in Austin then, and when they won, they
- 24:10Speaker 2: did the whole parade through downtown and everything, and he
- 24:13Speaker 2: was the star.
- 24:14Speaker 3: Really, he was the star of that parade.
- 24:16Speaker 1: I'm big Justin Tucker guy. Oh okay, Yeah, he's a listener.
- 24:19Speaker 4: Would you go see him do the opera?
- 24:22Speaker 3: No?
- 24:23Speaker 1: What? I go watch him sing? No? Yeah, unless he
- 24:25Speaker 1: was like, hey, come watch me saying because he's a
- 24:26Speaker 1: really good singer.
- 24:26Speaker 3: Yeah, really, yes, Tucker is. Yeah.
- 24:29Speaker 1: So all four of the Kickers are good. That's there's
- 24:33Speaker 1: one thing that's in common with all these teams. Uh
- 24:35Speaker 1: Tucker eighty seven percent, but super clutch Harrison Bucker's ninety
- 24:38Speaker 1: four percent this year. He's awesome, especially on Madden Badly
- 24:45Speaker 1: for the Lions is four for four in four games,
- 24:48Speaker 1: Like he hasn't missed in four games, but he hasn't
- 24:50Speaker 1: had the whole season of of resume. And Jake Moody
- 24:55Speaker 1: for the Niners eighty four percent all season long, which
- 24:58Speaker 1: is pretty good. Not gonna lie.
- 25:00Speaker 3: Who was the one that Uh?
- 25:01Speaker 1: I still real that have Justin talker than any of them. Yes,
- 25:03Speaker 1: he's just done it on a big level. Over and
- 25:05Speaker 1: over again.
- 25:05Speaker 3: Who's the one where the coach said, every time you
- 25:07Speaker 3: go up there, you just pray. Was that lafloor?
- 25:10Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah it was, but they got he got mad,
- 25:13Speaker 6: Yeah it was was it? But he got mad because
- 25:15Speaker 6: they twisted. He was saying like, you know, like just
- 25:17Speaker 6: as the fans, we always pray no matter what. He
- 25:19Speaker 6: wasn't saying like he doesn't have confidence in him.
- 25:21Speaker 1: You know, I took it when I saw the clip,
- 25:24Speaker 1: I thought like Eddy was saying it. Yeah, so he
- 25:26Speaker 1: got so bad that every time he goes up he prays.
- 25:28Speaker 6: So he said he got mad at Rinaldi because Ronaldi
- 25:30Speaker 6: flipped it when he told him that into a way
- 25:32Speaker 6: that he didn't mean it like that.
- 25:33Speaker 1: It was him because rookie kicker. Yes, and they were like,
- 25:37Speaker 1: we're gonna stay the course with them. He's a rookie kicker.
- 25:39Speaker 3: And but every time he goes up there, I'm gonna pray.
- 25:41Speaker 1: And pray forgot it?
- 25:43Speaker 3: Yeah, that's good?
- 25:44Speaker 1: All right? What else?
- 25:44Speaker 4: Last one here?
- 25:45Speaker 6: Which defense do you trust more to slow down the
- 25:47Speaker 6: MVP quarterbacks when they face off on Sunday?
- 25:50Speaker 4: The Ravens or the chiefs Ooths.
- 25:51Speaker 1: Are awesome and the over under is like, I don't
- 25:54Speaker 1: know what it is now, but it was a little
- 25:57Speaker 1: lower than I thought it would be because the defense
- 25:59Speaker 1: is so good. I think it was like forty forty one,
- 26:02Speaker 1: and you would think with these high scoring offenses that
- 26:06Speaker 1: it would be one of the teams would be thirty what.
- 26:08Speaker 4: Is it forty four and a half?
- 26:09Speaker 1: Now?
- 26:09Speaker 4: I thought I saw it like forty two.
- 26:11Speaker 1: So hey, Eddiot's going up, you know, why not fifty fifty?
- 26:13Speaker 3: That's right, and they're making it fifty fifty.
- 26:15Speaker 1: Yeah. The Ravens defense is so good. They're very good. Yeah,
- 26:20Speaker 1: the Chiefs defense is really good, but the Ravens. But
- 26:25Speaker 1: the Ravens have to go up against Mahomes. And I
- 26:28Speaker 1: know the Chiefs have to go against some more Jackson
- 26:29Speaker 1: who's also MVP for sure this year. But I'd still
- 26:32Speaker 1: rather go up against Lamar Jackson the Patrick Mahomes, because
- 26:35Speaker 1: to be the man, you gotta beat the man. Nobodys
- 26:36Speaker 1: beat the man yet. But both the defenses are really
- 26:40Speaker 1: good on teams known for their offense, So who cares?
- 26:45Speaker 1: I need the Chiefs to win because I cashed out
- 26:48Speaker 1: my Baltimore future for a thousand bucks. You did, Yeah,
- 26:50Speaker 1: we did it on the on the shop.
- 26:51Speaker 2: I thought you thought about doing No, I did it.
- 26:54Speaker 1: I think Baltimore has the better defense, but I would
- 26:57Speaker 1: rather have Mahomes and Lamar Jackson more than I I
- 27:00Speaker 1: would rather have the Baltimore defense over Kansas City. I
- 27:02Speaker 1: would rather have the Baltimore defense over Kansas City, but
- 27:04Speaker 1: I would rather have Mahomes over Jackson more than I'd
- 27:06Speaker 1: rather have that defense.
- 27:07Speaker 4: Like betting, right, Mahomes out ways.
- 27:08Speaker 1: Not fifty to fifty. So Mahomes exactly. So I'm gonna
- 27:11Speaker 1: take the Chiefs defense because the Chiefs offense. They have
- 27:14Speaker 1: the Chiefs offense terrible logic. Let's go with it, all right,
- 27:18Speaker 1: that's the Tittle Tattle stupid his name The Tittle Tattle
- 27:22Speaker 1: with twenty five whistles presented by Draft Kings sports Book,
- 27:27Speaker 1: an official sports betting partner of the NFL. Download the
- 27:30Speaker 1: DraftKings app used to code Bobby Sports to get in
- 27:32Speaker 1: on the action. Okay, here's my parlay this week. We're
- 27:36Speaker 1: going too money lines. First of all, we're going Chiefs
- 27:40Speaker 1: money line over Ravens. The Chiefs are the underdog. It's
- 27:44Speaker 1: Ravens minus three and a half from Baltimore. Chiefs money
- 27:46Speaker 1: line over Ravens just do it, and Niners money line
- 27:50Speaker 1: over Lions. That one seems to be a little simpler
- 27:53Speaker 1: to take because that spreads a little bigger. But I
- 27:55Speaker 1: go Chiefs Niners, and I got mahomes over two hundred
- 28:00Speaker 1: and forty yards passing.
- 28:02Speaker 4: Okay, okay, man, because.
- 28:05Speaker 1: They want us to do three.
- 28:06Speaker 3: They just moved two thirty nine and a half.
- 28:08Speaker 1: Okay, thirty nine and a half.
- 28:10Speaker 2: This is crazy how quick it's moving. We literally talked
- 28:14Speaker 2: about this ten minutes ago.
- 28:16Speaker 1: Yeah, but we didn't move it.
- 28:19Speaker 2: No, that's all I'm saying.
- 28:21Speaker 3: I'm just saying, like you, you look away for a
- 28:23Speaker 3: little and check it again. It's moved.
- 28:24Speaker 1: Okay. I'm taking mahomes two thirty nine and a half
- 28:27Speaker 1: over over two thirty nine and a half. So there
- 28:29Speaker 1: you go, Chiefs Niners money line mahomes over to thirty
- 28:33Speaker 1: nine and a half. Let's keep the streak going. It's
- 28:37Speaker 1: longest streak we've had a whole year.
- 28:39Speaker 4: Tied.
- 28:40Speaker 1: Yeah. Oh yeah, yeah good. So if you want to
- 28:42Speaker 1: take the twenty five whistles parlay, you can check out

- 29:00Speaker 1: y four six seven three six ' nine. Now let's
- 29:06Speaker 1: get to our interview with ESPN's Field Yates. Field was
- 29:09Speaker 1: once an intern for the Patriots and then became a
- 29:12Speaker 1: scout and then I mean he's all over ESPN now,
- 29:14Speaker 1: but he's a scout as well, which is pretty cool.
- 29:16Speaker 1: He started writing blogs and that's how he kind of
- 29:18Speaker 1: got picked up a boy ESPN. Never really had the
- 29:22Speaker 1: idea to go into media. It just kind of happened
- 29:24Speaker 1: because he loved football so much. He has a draft
- 29:26Speaker 1: podcast with Mel Kuiper Junior called First Draft and a
- 29:28Speaker 1: fantasy podcast called Fantasy Focused Football. Follow Field on Twitter
- 29:32Speaker 1: and Instagram at Field Yates. Here he is Field Yates, Hey. Field,
- 29:36Speaker 1: appreciate the time, man.
- 29:38Speaker 8: No problem, glad to do it. Thanks for having me on.
- 29:39Speaker 1: Hey. So let's talk about Buffalo First's first time ever
- 29:42Speaker 1: i've you know, seen a team lose and them be
- 29:44Speaker 1: the headline for multiple days after they lost. Do they
- 29:48Speaker 1: do anything different next year or do they just continue
- 29:51Speaker 1: just pounding away at it.
- 29:52Speaker 8: So this is one of those like very very narrow
- 29:56Speaker 8: margins for a team that has to kind of navigate
- 29:58Speaker 8: over the NFL offseason. When a team does not reach
- 30:02Speaker 8: its ultimate goal in the NFL, and when you have
- 30:04Speaker 8: Josh Allen as your quarterback, that ultimate goal is going
- 30:07Speaker 8: to realistically be win in the Super Bowl. Usually there
- 30:10Speaker 8: are like a few levers that you can pull right
- 30:12Speaker 8: The one that we see most often, not just in
- 30:14Speaker 8: the NFL and also in sports, is you fire the coach.
- 30:18Speaker 8: That tends to be one of the first options that
- 30:20Speaker 8: we default to, because a new voice in the room
- 30:23Speaker 8: can change the atmosphere, or the vibe or just sort
- 30:27Speaker 8: of the overall intensity or attitude of the organization. For Buffalo,
- 30:31Speaker 8: though Sean McDermott has been there for a long time
- 30:35Speaker 8: now and helped steady a franchise that for a long
- 30:38Speaker 8: time prior to his arrival was not irrelevance but was
- 30:41Speaker 8: certainly nowhere near as successful as it is right now.
- 30:45Speaker 8: We're also in this hiring cycle where one quarter of
- 30:48Speaker 8: the NFL teams made a change at head coach. So
- 30:51Speaker 8: when you've got eight other people that have already moved
- 30:54Speaker 8: prior to you, the number of desirable candidates that you
- 30:58Speaker 8: might be looking at has already twinned because teams have
- 31:01Speaker 8: either already made their head coaching changes or are deep
- 31:04Speaker 8: into the process. So I don't know that a coaching
- 31:07Speaker 8: change is likely in Buffalo. But the problem is in
- 31:10Speaker 8: the NFL, how many Like there are fifty three players
- 31:14Speaker 8: on the roster, so there are a lot more guys
- 31:16Speaker 8: that you can replace, sign, trade for, etc. Than there
- 31:20Speaker 8: are in baseball or hockey or something of that nature.
- 31:25Speaker 8: But a lot of players in the NFL. If you're
- 31:28Speaker 8: really good and you are on a veteran contract, those
- 31:31Speaker 8: difficult things to move. So I don't see that many
- 31:33Speaker 8: trades in the NFL. You can say, hey, the baill
- 31:35Speaker 8: should be trading Stefan Diggs right now. Well, if you
- 31:38Speaker 8: trade him, all of a sudden, a very thin wide
- 31:41Speaker 8: receiver group becomes borderline not existed. So as much as
- 31:44Speaker 8: I would love to sit here and tell you here
- 31:46Speaker 8: are the five things the Buffalo needs to do to
- 31:47Speaker 8: blow this all up, because that would be the key
- 31:50Speaker 8: to getting over the proverbial hump, that is the Kansas
- 31:53Speaker 8: City Chiefs. The most likely plan for Buffalo is to
- 31:56Speaker 8: bring back a lot of what has been there and
- 31:59Speaker 8: done that for the past few seasons and just hope
- 32:02Speaker 8: that next year they either avoid Kansas City in the
- 32:05Speaker 8: playoffs or if they get them in the playoffs, and
- 32:08Speaker 8: the any given Sunday mentality of the NFL goes in
- 32:11Speaker 8: their favor and not in the favor of Patrick Mahomes
- 32:14Speaker 8: and the Chiefs.
- 32:14Speaker 1: Harder for free agents to go to Buffalo. Generally, if
- 32:18Speaker 1: they get to choose all even they probably don't go.
- 32:21Speaker 1: But the team's good. What do you think?
- 32:23Speaker 8: I would say that there was a time where that
- 32:26Speaker 8: stigma definitely was real. I think the success of Buffalo
- 32:29Speaker 8: over the past five to six years has helped alleviate
- 32:32Speaker 8: a lot of that. I mean, if you look at
- 32:33Speaker 8: some of the best players on the Bills roster, many
- 32:37Speaker 8: of them weren't not drafted by Buffalo. So while you
- 32:40Speaker 8: can't necessarily dictate exactly where you're being traded, Stevon Diggs
- 32:44Speaker 8: was traded the Buffalo and then subsequently extended with Buffalo.
- 32:48Speaker 8: Like you, made the choice to stick around for a
- 32:50Speaker 8: long time with the Bills. Jordan ployer Micah par Excuse me,
- 32:55Speaker 8: I was gonna say Michel Parsons, but that would be
- 32:57Speaker 8: sweet for Buffalo. Micah Hide their other safety two guys
- 33:00Speaker 8: that were originally brought to Buffalo via free agency. Von
- 33:03Speaker 8: Miller was the biggest free agent signing maybe in all
- 33:06Speaker 8: of football on the defensive side of the ball a
- 33:08Speaker 8: couple of off seasons ago. Right he had options and he
- 33:10Speaker 8: chose to go to Buffalo. So we've seen a lot
- 33:12Speaker 8: of guys choose Buffalo that have become staples of their roster.
- 33:17Speaker 8: I think, though, it's maybe fair to say that players
- 33:21Speaker 8: right now that are evaluating various contenders that are like
- 33:27Speaker 8: one piece away and they think they can be that
- 33:30Speaker 8: piece might view Buffalo in a slightly different light than
- 33:35Speaker 8: they do. If Kansas City were to come calling this offseason,
- 33:38Speaker 8: or Baltimore were to come calling this offseason, or San
- 33:41Speaker 8: Francisco were to come calling, or to trentfor to come
- 33:44Speaker 8: calling this offseason, given the fact that those teams have
- 33:46Speaker 8: already advanced the conference championships, and of course two of
- 33:50Speaker 8: them are going to make it the Super Bowl.
- 33:51Speaker 1: With Josh Allen, we'll say his kryptonite has been Patrick
- 33:55Speaker 1: Mahomes obviously with two has been this year cold weather.
- 34:00Speaker 1: It just rocked, Like what do they do in Miami,
- 34:03Speaker 1: because again it's it's complete opposite of Buffalo, Like everybody
- 34:06Speaker 1: wants to go there, but then when they have to
- 34:07Speaker 1: play somewhere, it seemingly that isn't just feeling wonderful, they
- 34:12Speaker 1: don't play as well. What do you do in that situation?
- 34:14Speaker 8: That one, I would argue is much trickier because with Buffalo,
- 34:18Speaker 8: like we're not talking about them being that far off, right,
- 34:21Speaker 8: as much as these losses in the playoffs are the
- 34:24Speaker 8: Chiefs sting, I mean like dramatically sting. And this past
- 34:27Speaker 8: Sunday night was extremely hopeless, right, I mean it's Sunday,
- 34:30Speaker 8: last game of the division around all the stars were aligning.
- 34:33Speaker 8: You're playing in Buffalo, like your moment is finally here, right,
- 34:37Speaker 8: And the Chiefs, by the way, have been average for
- 34:39Speaker 8: much of the year offensively, Like if ever there was
- 34:41Speaker 8: a time for the Bills to win this game, it
- 34:44Speaker 8: was this past Sunday and Miami. It's like, not only
- 34:47Speaker 8: have you been to the playoffs and back to back seasons,
- 34:49Speaker 8: but like which is good, right, but like that game
- 34:52Speaker 8: felt like completely out of reach for Miami for a
- 34:55Speaker 8: lot of that game, right, it was like you're going
- 34:57Speaker 8: to Kansas City, it's minus thirty degrees, Like you might
- 34:59Speaker 8: as well just rubber stamp of the Chiefs going to
- 35:01Speaker 8: the divisional round and playing Buffalo up in Buffalo. And
- 35:05Speaker 8: if you're the Dolphins, you've shown that you can be
- 35:08Speaker 8: like an incredible regular season team, but you can also
- 35:11Speaker 8: beat up on bad competition. If you go back over
- 35:14Speaker 8: the two seasons now with TUA playing really well under
- 35:18Speaker 8: Mike McDaniel, Tyreek hillbying there in Miami, you look at
- 35:22Speaker 8: the games they have won against teams that ended up
- 35:25Speaker 8: finishing the season with a winning record. In the twenty
- 35:30Speaker 8: twenty two season, I think there were three of those
- 35:32Speaker 8: games in total. One of them was when they beat
- 35:34Speaker 8: the Bills in Week three, so the Bills were two
- 35:37Speaker 8: to zero at the time early in the year. Another
- 35:39Speaker 8: game was when they beat the Lions, who ended up
- 35:41Speaker 8: finishing nine to eight, but they entered that game against
- 35:44Speaker 8: Miami one in five. Detroit had a massive second half
- 35:48Speaker 8: to the twenty twenty two season, which ended up pushing
- 35:50Speaker 8: them over five hundred and then this year they beat
- 35:54Speaker 8: the Cowboys, who ended up obviously winning eleven game twelve
- 35:58Speaker 8: games this year, So that was a legit utimately good
- 36:00Speaker 8: win that game down in Miami late in the regular season,
- 36:04Speaker 8: but they basically got crushed by good competition in all
- 36:08Speaker 8: other games over the past two regular seasons. So if
- 36:13Speaker 8: you're the Dolphins, the question is, you've got what it
- 36:16Speaker 8: takes right now to be a top ten to twelve
- 36:20Speaker 8: ish team in the NFL. What is going to bridge
- 36:22Speaker 8: the gap from ten to twelve to like top three
- 36:27Speaker 8: to five where you're actually competing for the Super Bowl
- 36:30Speaker 8: every single year. And while I will be the first
- 36:32Speaker 8: to tell you that the NFL salary cap can be
- 36:34Speaker 8: manipulated and that you can find ways to keep the
- 36:38Speaker 8: players that you absolutely really desperately want for Miami, it's
- 36:43Speaker 8: not a salary cap question right now. It's is the
- 36:46Speaker 8: quarterback good enough to justify a major investment. Because Tua
- 36:51Speaker 8: obviously has some serious strengths to his game. Deep ball
- 36:54Speaker 8: accuracy is awesome. That helps when you have Tyreek Hill,
- 36:57Speaker 8: the guy led the NFL in passing yards this year,
- 37:00Speaker 8: and yet this upcoming off season, if the Dolphins invest
- 37:04Speaker 8: forty five, forty six, forty eight million dollars per year
- 37:06Speaker 8: in Tua, You're gonna have a huge cross section of
- 37:09Speaker 8: football fans that are saying to themselves, what, like, really
- 37:13Speaker 8: you're doing that for Tua Toungueo by Lowam, Does he
- 37:15Speaker 8: deserve it? Well, I mean deserve is what you're worth
- 37:18Speaker 8: when someone's willing to make you an offer. So I
- 37:20Speaker 8: think you know he's gonna get it, is my most
- 37:23Speaker 8: likely bet. But that, to me is a really tricky
- 37:27Speaker 8: evaluation for Miami because if they were to move off
- 37:29Speaker 8: from Tua, like who's sitting there waiting in the wings. That's,
- 37:32Speaker 8: by the way, also inexpensive because the salary cap is
- 37:35Speaker 8: going to impact Miami's spending power this offseason. That they
- 37:39Speaker 8: can say, all right, well it's not Tua, but it's
- 37:41Speaker 8: an upgrade just at a cheaper cost. That's a hard
- 37:43Speaker 8: thing for any team to find in the NFL. So
- 37:45Speaker 8: the Dolphins find themselves in a good spot relative to
- 37:48Speaker 8: like fifteen, eighteen, twenty of the teams in the NFL,
- 37:52Speaker 8: but in a really tricky spot relative to the first
- 37:54Speaker 8: class of the NFL.
- 37:55Speaker 1: Speaking about what people deserve, Rock Party, does he deserve
- 37:59Speaker 1: all this that he's getting. It's like people just can't
- 38:01Speaker 1: stand that the guy wins and they hold him accountable
- 38:04Speaker 1: for the talent he has on his team, like they
- 38:06Speaker 1: hold it against him.
- 38:08Speaker 8: Yeah, I think people need to decide what they want
- 38:09Speaker 8: out of Rock Party, right, And in some ways, Rock
- 38:12Speaker 8: Party being the very last pick in the draft is
- 38:16Speaker 8: a great thing. Like it makes his story that much
- 38:18Speaker 8: more improbable, and it makes his run that much more incredible.
- 38:21Speaker 8: It also makes him that much easier of a target, right,
- 38:24Speaker 8: because people just find a way to undercut some of
- 38:27Speaker 8: what he does. I think that multiple things can be
- 38:29Speaker 8: true at once, and I think that's one of the
- 38:31Speaker 8: biggest errors that we make now when we're evaluating sports
- 38:35Speaker 8: in general. So Rock Party can be a very, very
- 38:41Speaker 8: talented player who can do a ton of great things
- 38:45Speaker 8: within the forty nine ers offense. He can also play
- 38:49Speaker 8: in a forty nine ers offense that is more user
- 38:53Speaker 8: friendly to the quarterback than others might be. Right, when
- 38:56Speaker 8: you have Christian McCaffrey and George Kittle, Brandon Ayuk and
- 39:02Speaker 8: Deebo Samuel and a really good offensive line and Kyle
- 39:05Speaker 8: husch Check the best fullback in football. When you have
- 39:07Speaker 8: all those pieces around you, the yes, it's easier to
- 39:09Speaker 8: thrive and succeed than it would be if you were
- 39:12Speaker 8: playing with a much weaker supporting cast. That's okay. So
- 39:17Speaker 8: you can like acknowledge two things at once. Brock may
- 39:20Speaker 8: not be a top five quarterback in the NFL. Maybe
- 39:23Speaker 8: he's not top eight, maybe he's ten, eleven, twelve. I'm
- 39:27Speaker 8: not entirely concerned about where he specifically lands. I just
- 39:31Speaker 8: do know that within the confines of the four nine
- 39:34Speaker 8: Ers offense and what they are consistently asking brock Purty
- 39:38Speaker 8: to do, it feels like every time he has presented
- 39:41Speaker 8: a challenge, he ends up meeting the mark. So if
- 39:44Speaker 8: you want to debate whether he's as good as Patrick
- 39:47Speaker 8: Mahomes or Lamar Jackson, I think it's going to be
- 39:49Speaker 8: a fairly short debate and probably not one that's worth
- 39:51Speaker 8: the fight if you're a Brock party defender. But if
- 39:55Speaker 8: the ultimate goal is to win a Super Bowl, there
- 39:57Speaker 8: are two games away from doing that, and they're favored
- 39:59Speaker 8: in in the first game against the Detroit Lives that
- 40:01Speaker 8: they're playing on their home turk, what.
- 40:03Speaker 1: Are the Bears going to do?
- 40:04Speaker 8: I think this one's pretty cut and dry, at least
- 40:06Speaker 8: if I were the one that's making the decision, and
- 40:09Speaker 8: that's of course not me, it's Bears GM Ryan Poles.
- 40:12Speaker 8: I think the Bears should take a quarterback number one overall,
- 40:16Speaker 8: I think they should take Caleb Williams from USC Heisman
- 40:20Speaker 8: Trophy winner in twenty twenty two, who's accounted for over
- 40:23Speaker 8: ninety touchdowns over the past two seasons, thirty plus passing
- 40:28Speaker 8: and ten plus rushing in each of those two seasons.
- 40:31Speaker 8: USC have a down year this year. The defense was terrible,
- 40:35Speaker 8: very young roster overall. As you know, it's transfer portal.
- 40:39Speaker 8: College has become like every program is like almost like
- 40:42Speaker 8: a way station for prospects. It's not even really a
- 40:44Speaker 8: program anymore. You're just there for however long you need
- 40:48Speaker 8: to be there to get to the next place, whether
- 40:49Speaker 8: that's the NFL or a different college. I take Caleb Williams,
- 40:53Speaker 8: I think is the real deal. I think he's terrific.
- 40:55Speaker 8: I think it's got all the tools you need to
- 40:57Speaker 8: be an unbelievable player in the NFL for all long time.
- 41:00Speaker 8: And then I think you have to go and you
- 41:02Speaker 8: have to survey the market for justin fields. And what's
- 41:04Speaker 8: going to work in their favor is that there's always
- 41:07Speaker 8: more teams that need quarterbacks than there are quarterbacks. Available
- 41:12Speaker 8: and right now, and there's a long way to go
- 41:13Speaker 8: in the pre draft process. There's about ninety five days
- 41:16Speaker 8: until the draft begins. Right now, there are more teams
- 41:21Speaker 8: that need a quarterback that could justify taking a quarterback
- 41:24Speaker 8: in the first round than there are obvious first round picks.
- 41:28Speaker 8: Amongst the quarterbacks, there's three that I think, no two
- 41:31Speaker 8: ways about it, will absolutely, unquestionably go number one overall.
- 41:34Speaker 8: Excuse me, number in the first round, Kayleb Williams, Drake May,
- 41:38Speaker 8: Jaden Daniels. I happen to have the order Williams, Daniels, May,
- 41:41Speaker 8: but that's nitpicking there Beyond that, teams are going to
- 41:45Speaker 8: either have to talk themselves into a prospect that offers
- 41:49Speaker 8: some questions or they're going to say to themselves Justin
- 41:53Speaker 8: Field isn't perfect, but he's got three season under his
- 41:56Speaker 8: belt in the NFL, he's played a lot. One of
- 41:59Speaker 8: the most runners we've ever seen at the quarterback spot.
- 42:02Speaker 8: He's one of two quarterbacks ever, three quarterbacks ever, along
- 42:05Speaker 8: with Michael Vick and Lamar Jackson to rush for at
- 42:07Speaker 8: least a thousand yards in a season. Trade for Justin
- 42:10Speaker 8: Fields and if you're the Bears, you just kind of
- 42:13Speaker 8: take the marketplace, you figure out what the best options are,
- 42:16Speaker 8: and then grab as much draft capital as you can.
- 42:19Speaker 8: Now that I'm not a Justin Fields fan because I
- 42:22Speaker 8: am also advocating for other teams potentially trading for him.
- 42:25Speaker 8: But if you're Chicago, this is a ceiling versus a
- 42:27Speaker 8: floor play. I think the ceiling with Caleb Williams is
- 42:30Speaker 8: dramatically higher than it is right now with Justin Fields.
- 42:34Speaker 1: We got a big Cowboy fan here, who's still in
- 42:35Speaker 1: morning Eddie?
- 42:37Speaker 2: Yeah, I feeld. I'm a big Cowboys fan. Love my
- 42:39Speaker 2: Dallas Cowboys. And I want to ask you, was it
- 42:42Speaker 2: my blinders or you know, were you shocked too that
- 42:45Speaker 2: the Cowboys lose to the Packers early? And are you
- 42:49Speaker 2: shocked by the keeping Mike McCarthy deal.
- 42:52Speaker 8: I will so shocked on both fronts. Shocked on the
- 42:55Speaker 8: first front for sure. You know, the NFL is this
- 42:59Speaker 8: wonderful game that has the any given Sundays that I've
- 43:02Speaker 8: already mentioned once before mentality to it in the playoffs. Right,
- 43:05Speaker 8: it's not the team that's better that always wins. This
- 43:08Speaker 8: is not a seven game series where typically in the NBA,
- 43:11Speaker 8: the Gooliokic Scher Lebron James or Steph Curry or the
- 43:14Speaker 8: best player in the series is going to end up
- 43:17Speaker 8: finding a way to will his team to four victories
- 43:20Speaker 8: and seven tries, because that's how the system is set up.
- 43:24Speaker 8: This is the NFL where one bad half can lead
- 43:26Speaker 8: you into a massive deficit. And I thought that Packers
- 43:31Speaker 8: Cowboys game was actually one when the coin toss took place.
- 43:36Speaker 8: The Packers win the toss on the road. Dallas obviously
- 43:39Speaker 8: the most dominant home team, not just this season but
- 43:42Speaker 8: in a long time in twenty twenty three, and they
- 43:45Speaker 8: took the ball. A lot of teams prefer to defer.
- 43:48Speaker 8: They said, we want the ball right away. They have
- 43:50Speaker 8: an eight minute drive, they score a touchdown, and it
- 43:52Speaker 8: was like there was the air let out of the
- 43:56Speaker 8: balloon in the stadium right It was like the silence
- 43:59Speaker 8: all of a sudden kind of it. I was so surprised.
- 44:02Speaker 8: And I was an ardent Dak Prescott supporter all season.
- 44:07Speaker 8: It's weird that like being a Dak supporter can make
- 44:11Speaker 8: you kind of like a controversial figure. I mean, like
- 44:15Speaker 8: that's like the guy is unbelievable and at one point
- 44:19Speaker 8: was playing better than any player on the planet. This season,
- 44:23Speaker 8: and yet there are some people that, perhaps because of
- 44:26Speaker 8: their displeasure for the Cowboys in general, would like to
- 44:28Speaker 8: see him fail. But yeah, I was shocked by the performance.
- 44:32Speaker 8: I almost couldn't believe it. And then in terms of
- 44:36Speaker 8: Mike McCarthy, like, shocked and surprised are two different things
- 44:41Speaker 8: to me, but but you know, they sound very similar.
- 44:45Speaker 8: I was surprised that they kept Mike McCarthy only because
- 44:52Speaker 8: there was a Bill Belichick dynamic waiting right there for them,
- 44:55Speaker 8: like Rable, Pete Carroll, you know, the various assistants, excuse me,
- 45:01Speaker 8: who could have been available as head coaching prospects. But
- 45:05Speaker 8: I wasn't shocked because what thirty six wins over the
- 45:09Speaker 8: past three seasons during the regular season, that's a lot
- 45:13Speaker 8: of winning for this Dallas Cowboys team. And there's no
- 45:17Speaker 8: guarantee that the other coaches available are going to elevate
- 45:23Speaker 8: where you were right like this ultimately will be a
- 45:25Speaker 8: team that's judged by the postseason. So shocked, no surprised. Yes,
- 45:34Speaker 8: I will tell you this though. Come August of next year,
- 45:37Speaker 8: I will once again be wager. I will be forecasting
- 45:41Speaker 8: the Cowboys will be a big time NFC contender, bye
- 45:45Speaker 8: man Man.
- 45:46Speaker 1: But if they get to the NSC Championship next year,
- 45:49Speaker 1: let's just play this out. Does that get McCarthy a
- 45:52Speaker 1: new contract? Or does he have to win the Super Bowl?
- 45:54Speaker 8: I think next year's super Bowl or bust, which is
- 45:57Speaker 8: fair unfair, but I think in super Bowl or bus,
- 46:01Speaker 8: like we've reached that point with the Mike McCarthy path
- 46:04Speaker 8: that if he can't win the big one next year,
- 46:07Speaker 8: that's going to be a measuring stick unless there's some
- 46:09Speaker 8: sort of like significant changes to the roster that I
- 46:11Speaker 8: am not expecting right now. Next year super Bowl or
- 46:15Speaker 8: bus which is a term that we use a lot
- 46:17Speaker 8: more than is like actually true. But I think next
- 46:21Speaker 8: year it's pretty cut and dry for the Cowboys and
- 46:25Speaker 8: Mike McCarthy. I mean, they could lose them a Super
- 46:28Speaker 8: Bowl with heartbreaking fashion and it still might not be
- 46:31Speaker 8: enough to keep it, just because I know that the
- 46:35Speaker 8: sport is very, very unpredictable, and I know that it's
- 46:40Speaker 8: not one on paper. But I don't know how many
- 46:43Speaker 8: rosters I am taking over the Cowboys as presently constructed.
- 46:49Speaker 8: I don't know where they're glaring obvious weaknesses. Maybe the
- 46:53Speaker 8: run defense needs to be fortified a bit more. Maybe
- 46:55Speaker 8: the secondary was a little bit more up and down
- 46:59Speaker 8: than we live. You know, all those interception returns for
- 47:02Speaker 8: touchdowns maybe camouflage that the secondary wasn't quite as dominant
- 47:06Speaker 8: at times as you might think.
- 47:08Speaker 4: But that roster is really really good.
- 47:11Speaker 1: Field Gates on Instagram and Twitter at Field Yates and
- 47:13Speaker 1: you guys. As we mentioned before, he came on First
- 47:15Speaker 1: Draft and Fantasy Focus Football. First Draft is the podcast
- 47:19Speaker 1: hosted by Field and Melchiper Junior to keep tabs on
- 47:22Speaker 1: the NFL Draft throughout the year. And obviously we're kind
- 47:24Speaker 1: of out of fantasy right now, so what do you
- 47:25Speaker 1: guys do on Do you just shut that one down
- 47:28Speaker 1: now until next year?
- 47:29Speaker 8: Yeah, So we're trying to be more mindful of the
- 47:31Speaker 8: fact that people care about fantasy a ton all the time.
- 47:35Speaker 8: And what's cool about football is that it is a
- 47:37Speaker 8: three hundred and sixty five day year calendar, and there
- 47:40Speaker 8: is interest in things that go beyond just the games.
- 47:44Speaker 8: So before you know it, the NFL Draft will be here,
- 47:46Speaker 8: but prior to that, you'll have the Combine, you'll have
- 47:49Speaker 8: free agency, and people will be interested in that setup.
- 47:54Speaker 8: I tell people often is what's really a cool part
- 47:56Speaker 8: about my job in fantasy is that that could be, Like,
- 48:00Speaker 8: the Cowboys could sign some guard this offseason, and if
- 48:04Speaker 8: they end up keeping Tony Pollard, even if they don't whatever,
- 48:06Speaker 8: let's just say they do, someone will come up to
- 48:09Speaker 8: me and be just as likely to ask, like, what
- 48:11Speaker 8: does signing that guard mean for Tony Pollard's fantasy value
- 48:15Speaker 8: this year? Right, people will find any way to connect
- 48:17Speaker 8: the dots of fantasy football and personnel moves around the NFL.
- 48:24Speaker 8: That to me is sort of a sign of where
- 48:27Speaker 8: things are going. And I always tell people people ask me,
- 48:30Speaker 8: you know, what do you want to do? You know,
- 48:32Speaker 8: what are your five ten year goals? Which, to me,
- 48:36Speaker 8: I think that's like an outdated question. I feel like
- 48:38Speaker 8: it was much more a thing when you know our parents'
- 48:40Speaker 8: generation was growing up. But I want to I think
- 48:43Speaker 8: anybody who works in football would probably agree with this, Like,
- 48:45Speaker 8: we want to work in a sports people care about,
- 48:48Speaker 8: and football and fantasy football people care about all the time.
- 48:50Speaker 8: So we'll do a lot of mock drafting, we'll do
- 48:53Speaker 8: a lot of you know, prognosticating, and then the NFL
- 48:56Speaker 8: draft will give us a whole new like breath of
- 48:58Speaker 8: fresh air. Because while not every year is going to
- 49:02Speaker 8: have a draft in which two running backs go in
- 49:05Speaker 8: the top twelve, the real NFL draft is talking about
- 49:07Speaker 8: here in both Jon Robinson and Jamier Gibbs. The NFL
- 49:11Speaker 8: draft offers hope. That's the beauty of the NFL draft
- 49:14Speaker 8: that I don't think other sports have, that there is
- 49:19Speaker 8: tangible evidence that one draft can totally reshape the fortunes
- 49:26Speaker 8: of even the worst franchises. If we did this exact
- 49:29Speaker 8: interview a year ago, right now, we'd be talking about
- 49:32Speaker 8: the Houston Texans as one of the most hopeless franchises
- 49:36Speaker 8: in the entire NFL. They had very few players you
- 49:40Speaker 8: consider like building block, true blue gotta have in pieces.
- 49:45Speaker 8: They had the number two overall pick, but people would say, hey,
- 49:49Speaker 8: you know, this was a number one pick scenario where
- 49:53Speaker 8: they should have just lost in Week eighteen and had
- 49:56Speaker 8: control of the top of the draft. Ward. Well, instead
- 49:58Speaker 8: they get quote unquote stuck with the number two pick
- 50:01Speaker 8: and they get to Day Stroud. And now, if you're
- 50:04Speaker 8: just if you were to do what we at ESPN
- 50:06Speaker 8: called future power rankings, how many teams just because of CJ.
- 50:12Speaker 8: Stroud would you really want a head of Houston not
- 50:15Speaker 8: that many. And there are teams right now who feel
- 50:18Speaker 8: to me very very either down in the dumps, we're
- 50:23Speaker 8: kind of stuck in the middle. Like down in the
- 50:26Speaker 8: dumps teams are the ones that are picking at the top. Right,
- 50:28Speaker 8: you know, it's Washington and New England, and the teams
- 50:32Speaker 8: are kind of stuck in the middle, or like Denver, right,
- 50:34Speaker 8: like Denver was good enough to have a competitive streak
- 50:37Speaker 8: this year, but obviously it's going to make a quarterback
- 50:39Speaker 8: change this offseason, and not so bad this past year.
- 50:43Speaker 8: They have a top five pick the NFL, though, that
- 50:46Speaker 8: draft can change fortunes so quickly that between now and
- 50:51Speaker 8: April you'll be able to sell people on hope, and
- 50:54Speaker 8: then once September rolls around, that hope might be realized.
- 50:58Speaker 8: Houston Saxons are probably the best recent example of it.
- 51:01Speaker 3: Phil.
- 51:01Speaker 1: We really appreciate the time, big fan.
- 51:03Speaker 8: I appreciate you guys very much. Thanks for having me
- 51:05Speaker 8: on hope. We can do it again sometimes soon.

- 59:25Speaker 7: Oh? No, I don't know this.

- 59:33Speaker 4: Oh but I M dang it. I can't think of
- 59:46Speaker 4: his name right now. I just know him by the fridge.

- 1:00:14Speaker 1: their career?
- 1:00:14Speaker 3: Oh? Boy?
- 1:00:21Speaker 7: All time?
- 1:00:22Speaker 3: No read on Tuesdays?
- 1:00:24Speaker 7: Okay, I got a factor that in.
- 1:00:27Speaker 3: Yeah, man, I'm thinking it's Lamar.
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: What quarterback has the most rushing yards in their career?
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: All time?
- 1:00:32Speaker 3: All time? Read?
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: I think the all time kind of throws off because
- 1:00:36Speaker 2: we think that, Oh, it's gotta be.
- 1:00:38Speaker 3: Game Randall Cunningham, Like my god, Hell though he did
- 1:00:42Speaker 3: run a lot. I think it's gonna go. I think
- 1:00:45Speaker 3: it's gonna be Lamar Jackson. Okay, that dude runs a lot.
- 1:00:49Speaker 7: I'm saying, I believe you.
- 1:00:50Speaker 3: I don't know, though, Do you have anyone else?

- 1:01:03Speaker 7: Lamar Jackson final answer wrong.
- 1:01:06Speaker 3: Oh no, who.
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: Do you think it is?
- 1:01:08Speaker 4: I'd go Cam Newton, Mike Vic.
- 1:01:10Speaker 6: Oh yeah, that was the other one, all.
- 1:01:13Speaker 4: Right, and think he was around long enough.
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: Sudden death, love dogs, buzz in with your name. When
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: you buzz in, you have to say it. So you
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: guys are playing, you both get a buzz, but you
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: don't get to talk to each other.
- 1:01:22Speaker 3: Okay, shoot it's two to one.
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: Yeah, we'll do five questions. Let's go, who's the all
