- Lucas: Hey Luna, ready for another Spanish adventure? Luna: Always! I've been practicing my greetings and weather words. Where are we going today? Lucas: Well, it's a rainy day here, so I thought we'd check into a hotel. You know, like when you travel and need a room. Luna: Oh, that's perfect. I always mess up at the front desk. I end up just pointing at things. Lucas: Right. And you know what, if Fexingo has been helping you feel more confident with Spanish, a couple of dollars a month really keeps these episodes coming. You can support us at buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. Luna: Yeah, it does make a difference. Every little bit helps us keep making free lessons. Lucas: Exactly. So today, we're going to learn how to ask for a hotel room. The first phrase is 'Quiero una habitación'. Luna: Quiero una habitación. That means 'I want a room'? Lucas: Exactly. Quiero una habitación. Let's say it together. Quiero una habitación. Luna: Quiero una habitación. Quiero una habitación. Great. Lucas: Now, when you're at the desk, you might also want to ask if they have any rooms free. '¿Tiene habitaciones libres?' Luna: ¿Tiene habitaciones libres? That's 'Do you have any free rooms?' Lucas: Yes. ¿Tiene habitaciones libres? Let's try it. ¿Tiene habitaciones libres? Luna: ¿Tiene habitaciones libres? I think I got it. Lucas: You did. Now, you'll probably want to know the price. '¿Cuánto cuesta por noche?' Luna: ¿Cuánto cuesta por noche? How much per night? Lucas: Exactly. ¿Cuánto cuesta por noche? Repeat after me. ¿Cuánto cuesta por noche? Luna: ¿Cuánto cuesta por noche? Okay, that's a mouthful. Lucas: You'll get it. Let's imagine you're at the front desk. You say, 'Quiero una habitación. ¿Tiene habitaciones libres?' Luna: Quiero una habitación. ¿Tiene habitaciones libres? Lucas: Then you ask, '¿Cuánto cuesta por noche?' Luna: ¿Cuánto cuesta por noche? Perfect. I feel like a traveler already. Lucas: And once you have your room, you'll need the key. In Spanish, it's 'la llave'. Luna: La llave. That's the key. La llave. Lucas: Yes. You might say, '¿Puedo tener la llave?' but for now, just remember la llave. Luna: La llave. La llave. Simple. Lucas: And when you're settled, you'll want to know breakfast time. '¿A qué hora es el desayuno?' Luna: ¿A qué hora es el desayuno? When is breakfast? Lucas: Exactly. ¿A qué hora es el desayuno? Let's say it slowly. ¿A qué hora es el desayuno? Luna: ¿A qué hora es el desayuno? I love breakfast, so this is important. Lucas: Let's put it all together. You walk in and say, 'Buenas tardes. Quiero una habitación. ¿Tiene habitaciones libres?' Luna: Buenas tardes. Quiero una habitación. ¿Tiene habitaciones libres? Lucas: Then you ask about the price. '¿Cuánto cuesta por noche?' Luna: ¿Cuánto cuesta por noche? And then maybe ask for the key and breakfast time. Lucas: Right. '¿Puedo tener la llave?' and '¿A qué hora es el desayuno?' Luna: ¿Puedo tener la llave? ¿A qué hora es el desayuno? I'm getting it. Lucas: You are. Let's do a quick practice. I'll be the receptionist. You check in. Luna: Okay. Quiero una habitación. ¿Tiene habitaciones libres? Lucas: Sí, tenemos una. ¿Cuántas noches? Luna: Dos noches. ¿Cuánto cuesta por noche? Lucas: Cincuenta euros por noche. Aquí tiene su llave. Luna: Gracias. ¿A qué hora es el desayuno? Lucas: De siete a diez. Disfrute su estancia. Luna: I did it! I actually checked in. Lucas: You did. And you used la llave, which is always handy. Luna: La llave. La llave. I won't forget that. Lucas: Before we go, let's recap. We learned 'Quiero una habitación', '¿Tiene habitaciones libres?', '¿Cuánto cuesta por noche?', 'la llave', and '¿A qué hora es el desayuno?' Luna: Quiero una habitación. ¿Tiene habitaciones libres? ¿Cuánto cuesta por noche? La llave. ¿A qué hora es el desayuno? Lucas: Perfect. Keep practicing those, and you'll be a pro at hotel check-ins. Luna: Thanks, Lucas. This was so useful. I'll definitely use these next time I travel. Lucas: That's the goal. See you next time for more Spanish with Fexingo.
