- 0:00Speaker 1: What up is Turbo?
- 0:01Speaker 2: Mister run that back Turbo, and I want you to
- 0:03Speaker 2: check me out right now on a Bootleg kV podcast.
- 0:09Speaker 3: Yo, Bootlet cav show Man. We got a special guess
- 0:11Speaker 3: in here. His name is Turbo.
- 0:13Speaker 1: You might know him.
- 0:14Speaker 3: You heard his tag on it all these damn big records. Uh,
- 0:18Speaker 3: one of the biggest producers in the game is here.
- 0:20Speaker 1: Welcome.
- 0:20Speaker 4: Thank you, bro, thank you, Yes, sir?
- 0:22Speaker 1: How's up?
- 0:22Speaker 3: First of all, man, I know you're one of the
- 0:27Speaker 3: very few artists who could say they have a diamond single.
- 0:30Speaker 4: Yep.
- 0:31Speaker 3: And I didn't even realize Drip Too Hard was diamond.
- 0:33Speaker 3: Like Ace was like, make sure you bring up the
- 0:34Speaker 3: fact he's got a diamond record, and I was like,
- 0:37Speaker 3: it's Drip too Hard diamond Damn sure. It's crazy. Yeah,
- 0:41Speaker 3: that's got to feel crazy because that's not there's not
- 0:45Speaker 3: that many people who could have that on the resume
- 0:48Speaker 3: these days. Bro, that's like Michael Jackson.
- 0:49Speaker 1: Shit, that's ten platinum records.
- 0:52Speaker 2: Yeah, if you don't know, yeah, nah, yeah, it do
- 0:55Speaker 2: feel crazy. I mean, I guess it's just a blessing, bro.
- 0:58Speaker 2: Like I can't I can't call it anything.
- 1:00Speaker 3: You know, what was your kind of like because I
- 1:04Speaker 3: guess that's kind of the project that we kind of
- 1:07Speaker 3: like you became more like a household name of hip
- 1:09Speaker 3: hop that tager yours. Kind of give me a little
- 1:12Speaker 3: breakdown on like your come up as a producer in Atlanta,
- 1:16Speaker 3: because it is a very very flooded marketplace for producers
- 1:22Speaker 3: these days, and it's hard to break through, it's hard
- 1:24Speaker 3: to get placements. So kind of give me like a rundown,
- 1:26Speaker 3: like how you started producing and like just your come up.
- 1:29Speaker 2: Well, I started engineering, So engineering was like I got
- 1:34Speaker 2: fired from my job and that became my job, you
- 1:36Speaker 2: know what I mean. And that's how I was hustling
- 1:38Speaker 2: and making money. But I always had the passion to
- 1:41Speaker 2: be a producer. Engineering was literally just how I ate,
- 1:45Speaker 2: you know, from day to day. But that's also how
- 1:47Speaker 2: I met all the artists. And at that time, Atlanta
- 1:50Speaker 2: was a place it still is, but it was even
- 1:52Speaker 2: more of a place where we just embraced everybody. So
- 1:55Speaker 2: if you was from Atlanta and you knew you know
- 1:58Speaker 2: such and such, or you went to high school such
- 2:00Speaker 2: and such, you had an opportunity to get inside the
- 2:01Speaker 2: studio if you knew what you was doing. So I
- 2:04Speaker 2: took so many of those opportunities, just friends and people that.
- 2:07Speaker 4: I grew up with, Like, you know, I'll record you
- 2:09Speaker 4: for free.
- 2:09Speaker 3: I got beats for free.
- 2:11Speaker 2: Shit, I'll sit here all night for free, you know
- 2:13Speaker 2: what I mean, whatever it is, and I just slowly
- 2:15Speaker 2: just started.
- 2:17Speaker 1: They give you an inch and you took a foot.
- 2:19Speaker 3: I took like three feet he took you know what
- 2:21Speaker 3: I mean?
- 2:22Speaker 2: People don't even know, Like even like the Metro and
- 2:25Speaker 2: twenty one Savage album, I recorded most of that.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Oh that's crazy.
- 2:29Speaker 2: Yeah, I recorded most of that, and even like X Bitch,
- 2:32Speaker 2: I recorded that.
- 2:33Speaker 3: That was like my engineer career.
- 2:36Speaker 2: And then when Gunner kind of started getting his traction,
- 2:39Speaker 2: that was the first person that was just rapping on
- 2:41Speaker 2: my beats. And we did Okay and Drip season three
- 2:45Speaker 2: together and all that stuff, and that's when it was like, Okay, Turbo, naa,
- 2:48Speaker 2: he's not an engineer, he's a producer.
- 2:50Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:50Speaker 3: A lot of people who don't know, like, first of all,
- 2:53Speaker 3: if you're a producer or an artist, to have the
- 2:56Speaker 3: ability to be an engineer as well, Yeah, it's such
- 2:59Speaker 3: a nice way to just get in the door.
- 3:01Speaker 1: Like I could record.
- 3:02Speaker 5: You record yourself, you know what I mean, like, but
- 3:06Speaker 5: like so many dope producers and artists, I know, they
- 3:10Speaker 5: started off as the guy in the studio that no
- 3:12Speaker 5: one really pays attention.
- 3:13Speaker 1: To, that's running the pro tools, doing the effects.
- 3:16Speaker 3: And like also, if you're a good engineer, you low
- 3:19Speaker 3: key are doing some sort of production too on that
- 3:21Speaker 3: fucking record face because you're you're you're dropping ship out
- 3:25Speaker 3: your you're you might put some effects on some ship.
- 3:28Speaker 1: Like, so that's dope. Like if you're an engineer out there.
- 3:30Speaker 3: That's why I tell all my homies, like my my
- 3:32Speaker 3: guy who runs my studio here, he's my engineer, but
- 3:36Speaker 3: he's also a producer and songwriter.
- 3:38Speaker 2: You gotta do both these days. You gotta do THEMN
- 3:40Speaker 2: there three things these days just even cut through.
- 3:43Speaker 1: You had to just bring value to the table man.
- 3:44Speaker 3: Super value and be consistent for sure.
- 3:47Speaker 1: Damn.
- 3:47Speaker 3: So you were in the studio, So for you, like,
- 3:50Speaker 3: were you was it like a thing where everyone knew
- 3:52Speaker 3: you made beats? Or did you not want to like
- 3:55Speaker 3: be the guy who's the engineer who's also hey, by
- 3:58Speaker 3: the way, y'all, I got some here's that guy I
- 4:00Speaker 3: was there, you know what I mean?
- 4:02Speaker 1: But you had some heat so there's a difference.
- 4:03Speaker 2: Yeah, it's like, oh this I'm the engineer that got
- 4:06Speaker 2: some shit, you know what I mean. And it's like, oh,
- 4:08Speaker 2: call him back tomorrow and call him back. You know,
- 4:11Speaker 2: you can call me in an hour and I'm gonna
- 4:12Speaker 2: be there in an hour, you know what I mean.
- 4:14Speaker 2: It's not it's not no boozie shit, you know.
- 4:16Speaker 3: What I mean. Is it like, because I would say
- 4:18Speaker 3: that about Atlanta, is it feels like a much more
- 4:22Speaker 3: I wouldn't say easy, but it feels like more of
- 4:23Speaker 3: a community, you know, in terms of the music side,
- 4:26Speaker 3: because being in LA, I feel like everybody's real like
- 4:29Speaker 3: stingy with the connects, stingy with just everything with their energy.
- 4:33Speaker 3: I feel like in Atlanta it feels like like I mean,
- 4:36Speaker 3: I've gone to Atlanta studio sessions and everyone's just hanging out.
- 4:39Speaker 1: Like people could just pull up like it.
- 4:40Speaker 3: Do you do you feel that difference now that you're
- 4:42Speaker 3: I'm sure you're going to LA sessions or you're in
- 4:44Speaker 3: the mix more in different places.
- 4:46Speaker 1: It's nothing like Atlanta.
- 4:48Speaker 2: Yeah, it's nothing like home. It's nothing like the South,
- 4:51Speaker 2: you know what I mean. But especially Atlanta, that's a
- 4:54Speaker 2: place where, like you you know, to embrace whoever's coming up,
- 4:58Speaker 2: you know, to embrace Atlanta, you know, to fuck with
- 5:01Speaker 2: the younger guys, you know what I mean, that's.
- 5:03Speaker 4: Part of the culture.
- 5:05Speaker 2: It wasn't until I started traveling that it was like, Oh,
- 5:08Speaker 2: I'm not supposed to tell you, you know, like you know
- 5:11Speaker 2: this guy or introduce you to get this guy. Is like,
- 5:13Speaker 2: that's y'all. Don't do that type of shit. Like I
- 5:15Speaker 2: do that shit all the time, you know what I mean.
- 5:17Speaker 3: It's almost in the dna of that city to like
- 5:20Speaker 3: like be on the because I mean, Atlanta's had the
- 5:23Speaker 3: culture for twenty twenty five years now fact, so it's
- 5:25Speaker 3: almost like it's the most Atlanta shit ever to break
- 5:29Speaker 3: artists because eddy of the new shit's always coming out
- 5:31Speaker 3: of the South. It's very seldomly it'll be out of
- 5:34Speaker 3: New York or it'll be out of LA. So it's
- 5:36Speaker 3: almost like that's kind of what y'all do.
- 5:38Speaker 2: Yeah, you gotta make your stop in Atlanta. You gotta
- 5:40Speaker 2: spend some months in Atlanta and run through those studios
- 5:43Speaker 2: and see what they feel like.
- 5:44Speaker 3: Do you feel like that's something Because we always have
- 5:46Speaker 3: these conversations about LA artists not breaking through because there's
- 5:49Speaker 3: some really dope, talented LA artists that for whatever reason,
- 5:53Speaker 3: like get to a certain point and then they have
- 5:55Speaker 3: a hard time kind of getting over the hill in
- 5:57Speaker 3: terms of like maybe being hot in the South. Or
- 6:01Speaker 3: do you feel like because like a guy like we
- 6:02Speaker 3: got a homie Kaitlin for real, for real, who he
- 6:05Speaker 3: went out to Atlanta for like a year and just
- 6:07Speaker 3: cooked hung out with DJ's And I feel like that's
- 6:10Speaker 3: important for anybody, Like you said, no matter where you're from,
- 6:13Speaker 3: you could be from fucking Indianapolis, you could be from
- 6:15Speaker 3: wherever you gotta go.
- 6:17Speaker 1: Spend some time in the A.
- 6:18Speaker 2: Yeah facts, I mean, I know Kaitlin too. Yeah, I
- 6:24Speaker 2: mean I don't I don't know what it is, but
- 6:26Speaker 2: you have to stop through there. It's like how LA
- 6:28Speaker 2: used to be, you know what I mean, And everybody
- 6:30Speaker 2: had to come to l A for some type of reason.
- 6:32Speaker 2: You got to go to Atlanta to feel that culture.
- 6:35Speaker 2: You got to I don't know what, I don't know
- 6:37Speaker 2: what it is.
- 6:38Speaker 1: You have some some wings the Blue Flame, for god.
- 6:41Speaker 4: Sake, Yeah, some chicken or some ship.
- 6:43Speaker 1: What's the strip club out there that I had? I had?
- 6:47Speaker 1: They're playing they play some shitty music. They got good lamb.
- 6:51Speaker 3: Chops cheetah yes, yeah, yes, yeah, that's the g T
- 6:57Speaker 3: A THET. They got the nickelback playing yeah food good
- 7:00Speaker 3: as a moff, like a Metallica nickel.
- 7:03Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 7:03Speaker 2: They that kind of updated it a little more, you
- 7:06Speaker 2: know what I'm saying a little a little bit. But yeah,
- 7:08Speaker 2: that's the place where you're going to eat at and
- 7:10Speaker 2: throw one dollar at a.
- 7:11Speaker 1: Time, one time. Yeah, you fold it up.
- 7:17Speaker 2: Yeah there, GTA Yeah.
- 7:22Speaker 1: Uh, you got your own holiday in Fulton County.
- 7:25Speaker 3: Yep. Turbo Day Yep.
- 7:26Speaker 1: That's gotta be fucking sweet man.
- 7:28Speaker 3: It's incredibly what happens at like what we see that happening,
- 7:31Speaker 3: but like what comes with that anything cool?
- 7:33Speaker 2: I mean we're organizing right now the Turbo Day July eighth.
- 7:38Speaker 2: It's just really like an opportunity for me to just
- 7:41Speaker 2: do stuff for like the kids in the community.
- 7:43Speaker 1: So you kind of turned into an opportunity to help
- 7:44Speaker 1: the community.
- 7:45Speaker 2: Yeah, you know what I mean, give it give it
- 7:46Speaker 2: an actual time and place instead of it, you know,
- 7:50Speaker 2: me coming for a Memorial Day or something like that
- 7:52Speaker 2: and trying to do something or compete so Thanksgiving, yeah,
- 7:56Speaker 2: you know, turkey driving all that stuff.
- 7:57Speaker 3: I did Turkey drives this year too, But with your
- 8:00Speaker 3: day is like it came about.
- 8:02Speaker 2: I was trying to do something for the community, but
- 8:04Speaker 2: you needed like permits and all of this stuff to
- 8:07Speaker 2: take over, like the parks and stuff down there.
- 8:10Speaker 3: You can't just do it.
- 8:11Speaker 2: And I got to working with the city and we
- 8:13Speaker 2: just couldn't knock it out last year, and they gave
- 8:16Speaker 2: me a day just for even trying and trying to
- 8:18Speaker 2: really like make it happen because nobody does anything on
- 8:20Speaker 2: that side, and that it.
- 8:22Speaker 3: Just be easier to just do it this year.
- 8:24Speaker 2: You know, I already know who the right people to
- 8:26Speaker 2: call and how to organize everything.
- 8:29Speaker 3: So it's it's for me.
- 8:31Speaker 2: It's just a way to show the kids, this is something,
- 8:34Speaker 2: This is what you do once you get to this
- 8:36Speaker 2: place and inspire these kids because it was nobody that
- 8:40Speaker 2: was doing that when I was young.
- 8:42Speaker 3: What is for people who are watching this, maybe some
- 8:44Speaker 3: kids who are watching this who are trying to figure
- 8:46Speaker 3: out the production game? What is your layout? Are you
- 8:48Speaker 3: using pro tools or using fruity loops? Like?
- 8:51Speaker 1: What is your production interface? Your go to?
- 8:55Speaker 3: That's some exclusive shit, but I'm gonna tell you know
- 8:57Speaker 3: what I mean.
- 8:58Speaker 4: But I you.
- 9:01Speaker 2: A number of things, so it could be a little
- 9:05Speaker 2: bit of able ten for my melodies and into FL
- 9:08Speaker 2: and I mix it in pro tools or reverse it.
- 9:11Speaker 2: And you know, if we're going through the through the keyboards,
- 9:14Speaker 2: I'm recording in pro tools and taking it to fl
- 9:18Speaker 2: and cleaning it up and able to.
- 9:19Speaker 3: But that's like usually my main.
- 9:21Speaker 1: Three, those three.
- 9:22Speaker 3: You know, it's crazy, Like I feel like more hip
- 9:24Speaker 3: hop producers should use able to because I feel like
- 9:26Speaker 3: they don't. Yeah, because Ableton, like it's hard to use.
- 9:29Speaker 1: It's very intimidating when you open it.
- 9:32Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, that's the word.
- 9:35Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 9:35Speaker 3: But like I feel like because I've like, I got
- 9:37Speaker 3: a homie of mine who uses Ableton, and he'll show
- 9:39Speaker 3: me things you can do in able ten, And I'm like,
- 9:41Speaker 3: why isn't everybody using this? This is crazy shit difficult
- 9:44Speaker 3: to use. No, but it looks crazy because it looks
- 9:47Speaker 3: different than like fruity loops or pro tools. It's like
- 9:49Speaker 3: its own thing. And then they got that able to touch
- 9:51Speaker 3: with all the buttons and shit, Yeah, it's difficult. It's difficult,
- 9:56Speaker 3: but it's hard.
- 9:56Speaker 1: Though.
- 9:57Speaker 3: What do you like?
- 9:57Speaker 1: Do you are you like active looking for packs.
- 10:01Speaker 3: In terms of your sounds and ship or you like
- 10:03Speaker 3: having people send you packs or you getting loops?
- 10:06Speaker 1: Are you doing like your own loops? Like give me
- 10:08Speaker 1: you say packs?
- 10:09Speaker 3: Like you got it? Like you're like where you get
- 10:11Speaker 3: your drums? Are you finding your own drums? Are you
- 10:13Speaker 3: are you grabbed? Yeah?
- 10:15Speaker 2: Kinda like if it's like a certain time and I
- 10:18Speaker 2: need a certain thing, I'll tweet it out and they're like,
- 10:20Speaker 2: all the guys will send me something, yeah, and I
- 10:23Speaker 2: go through them. But I got a programmer in Atlanta
- 10:25Speaker 2: and he just keep me up to date with all
- 10:27Speaker 2: the newest, newest ship.
- 10:28Speaker 3: What about on the loop side, because that is an
- 10:30Speaker 3: entry point for a lot of up andcoming producers. I'm
- 10:32Speaker 3: stepping away from loops. I'm doing my own melodies.
- 10:34Speaker 4: Okay.
- 10:35Speaker 2: It's like the loop game is just became a fucking
- 10:40Speaker 2: It's not the loop game anymore, you know what I mean.
- 10:43Speaker 2: It's like a it's like a different place, and I
- 10:45Speaker 2: feel like it's it's no originality in it.
- 10:48Speaker 3: Yeah, for people who don't know, because it's some producer
- 10:50Speaker 3: geeks to talk. Like, if you're an up and cooming producer,
- 10:54Speaker 3: you might send out, Hey, I'm looking for some loops,
- 10:56Speaker 3: right Yeah, And so that might be your way in
- 10:59Speaker 3: if you got some or samples or loops, that could
- 11:02Speaker 3: be your way into getting your first placement. And but
- 11:05Speaker 3: then you got, like you said, the loop ship's getting
- 11:07Speaker 3: so washed washed down because it's because it's all these
- 11:12Speaker 3: free loops. What's the website called with all the fucking
- 11:14Speaker 3: packs and Splice and there's all this shit. So it's
- 11:17Speaker 3: like I always compared to like dj and Serato, like
- 11:20Speaker 3: when Soerado came, like it made DJing so much easier, right,
- 11:23Speaker 3: you didn't need to have these turn record and I
- 11:26Speaker 3: feel like Splices like that with producers because like you
- 11:28Speaker 3: really don't need to know how to make a beat.
- 11:30Speaker 3: All you really got to do is just line up
- 11:32Speaker 3: bars and like you could go on Splice and if
- 11:35Speaker 3: you're at least like semi competent on pro tools, you
- 11:38Speaker 3: can get it. You can get it.
- 11:39Speaker 1: You can make a beat for sure.
- 11:41Speaker 3: So it's like I've just noticed that like just so
- 11:44Speaker 3: much more. I'm like, you know, we had an artist
- 11:46Speaker 3: we were working with and this kid never made a
- 11:47Speaker 3: beat before, and he downloaded a bunch of shit on
- 11:49Speaker 3: Splice and he played a beat and I was like, hey, yo,
- 11:52Speaker 3: who did this He's like I just did it.
- 11:54Speaker 1: And I was like, you just did it. He's like
- 11:56Speaker 1: it's the first beat IVE ever made.
- 11:59Speaker 3: N Bake.
- 12:00Speaker 1: I was like, this, shit is what's happening? Like, how
- 12:03Speaker 1: is this possible?
- 12:04Speaker 3: Like, because you know, when I was a kid, we
- 12:05Speaker 3: had the funk Master Flex video game on a PlayStation
- 12:07Speaker 3: two MTV Degenerate on the first PlayStation. You make beats
- 12:12Speaker 3: on the PlayStation it was fire. Yeah, So there was
- 12:17Speaker 3: this MTV beat making video game on the first PlayStation,
- 12:20Speaker 3: and then there was a funk Flex beat making game
- 12:22Speaker 3: on the PS two that was fire. Like you could
- 12:26Speaker 3: like program beats on this fucking game. There was like
- 12:28Speaker 3: actual like some producers who would like actually like run
- 12:31Speaker 3: the PlayStation into like pro tools and take the beats.
- 12:34Speaker 4: Out of it.
- 12:35Speaker 1: Super fire.
- 12:36Speaker 3: You used to check it out, but it just always
- 12:40Speaker 3: seemed like this super complex process. But I feel like
- 12:45Speaker 3: it's just been simplified so much, especially with like, you know,
- 12:47Speaker 3: obviously rooty loop has been popular for twenty years now.
- 12:49Speaker 3: But for you, is it like how hard is it
- 12:52Speaker 3: for you to kind of stay inspired when there's just
- 12:55Speaker 3: so much shit out there?
- 12:56Speaker 2: Oh, just living a regular life, you know what I mean?
- 13:01Speaker 2: Not putting too much pressure on myself. It's not It's
- 13:04Speaker 2: not really hard because you know, back in the day
- 13:07Speaker 2: when it was like all about bands and stuff like that,
- 13:10Speaker 2: they literally would just sit around and jam out.
- 13:12Speaker 3: It wasn't anything like, oh, we're gonna go and make
- 13:15Speaker 3: a beat.
- 13:15Speaker 2: And so I just try to live like a regular
- 13:18Speaker 2: life and just enjoy my day.
- 13:21Speaker 4: I always say that.
- 13:21Speaker 3: If I have a good day, then it's just gonna
- 13:23Speaker 3: pour out of me.
- 13:24Speaker 2: I don't have to smoke and do all this weirdsh
- 13:27Speaker 2: just like whatever whatever I'm feeling that day, and then
- 13:30Speaker 2: I let it be.
- 13:31Speaker 4: It's gonna be, and I go on to the next day.
- 13:32Speaker 1: I hit that as getting toasted. Here these lights.
- 13:38Speaker 2: You don't smoke, Yeah, smoke, I ain't even meant depend on't.
- 13:43Speaker 2: It's not like it's not like, oh, I'm finna get
- 13:46Speaker 2: high as a motherfucker to go and make music.
- 13:48Speaker 4: You know what I mean. I can drip too hard beat.
- 13:50Speaker 2: I made it on the computer speakers, you know what
- 13:53Speaker 2: I mean, Like falling asleep from leaving the studio one
- 13:57Speaker 2: morning and didn't think it was gonna do anything.
- 14:00Speaker 3: Let me ask you this, because your chemistry with Gunn
- 14:04Speaker 3: is pretty crazy. We don't get a lot of you know,
- 14:07Speaker 3: when I was growing up, we had producers and artists
- 14:09Speaker 3: locked the fucking Riz and wan Claim the Bang Star,
- 14:15Speaker 3: but DJ Premiere and Guru and but I feel like
- 14:17Speaker 3: you guys are kind of your own version of that,
- 14:19Speaker 3: and it's been it's been like that for a while.
- 14:22Speaker 3: How did you initially meet Gunning? We found the same neighborhood.
- 14:26Speaker 1: Okay, so you've known him for a very long time.
- 14:28Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, was he?
- 14:30Speaker 3: Because I always say, like between him and Baby over
- 14:33Speaker 3: the last like six or seven years, just the like
- 14:37Speaker 3: improvement at just bars and like actual rapping is like
- 14:42Speaker 3: I don't I'll venture to say, we have never really
- 14:44Speaker 3: seen somebody like jumps so far ahead at just the
- 14:47Speaker 3: skill of rapping in a short amount of time. Did
- 14:50Speaker 3: you always kind of see that in him?
- 14:54Speaker 2: I think in the beginning it was just like any producer,
- 14:58Speaker 2: you just want somebody to rap on your ship. So
- 15:01Speaker 2: we was from the same side, We knew each other,
- 15:03Speaker 2: we had mutual friends, and it was it was just
- 15:05Speaker 2: easy and I knew it was something different. But I
- 15:07Speaker 2: can't just say, you know.
- 15:09Speaker 3: Because he's very different for people like like we're used
- 15:12Speaker 3: to the sound now because everyone's taking it.
- 15:14Speaker 1: Yeah, done their own version of what gun right, But.
- 15:17Speaker 3: Like seven years ago, six years ago, five years ago,
- 15:20Speaker 3: it wasn't the sound.
- 15:20Speaker 1: Everybody was like what the fuck is this?
- 15:22Speaker 3: Yeah, so like you really had to kind of be like, man,
- 15:24Speaker 3: this is different. We just gonna roll with it, like yeah,
- 15:27Speaker 3: I mean I make beads to spigure this out. It
- 15:29Speaker 3: felt good, Yeah, you know what I mean. It wasn't
- 15:31Speaker 3: It wasn't no pressure.
- 15:32Speaker 2: And like you know, at that time, like nobody was
- 15:35Speaker 2: doing guitars and I love the acoustic music, and he
- 15:38Speaker 2: sounded good on guitars, and it just it just worked.
- 15:40Speaker 5: Bro.
- 15:41Speaker 2: It was like it was it was a natural thing.
- 15:43Speaker 2: It wasn't anything that was for so even just seeing
- 15:47Speaker 2: something different, the only thing I could see different was
- 15:49Speaker 2: we're gonna stay in the studio the longest. Ethics gonna
- 15:53Speaker 2: it matches, you know what I mean. He's not leaving
- 15:55Speaker 2: before me. I'm not leaving before him. And it's damn
- 15:58Speaker 2: there a competition. So early on, that's what we was doing,
- 16:02Speaker 2: we leaving the studio seven in the morning and coming
- 16:04Speaker 2: right back at twelve. To the point where, like especially
- 16:08Speaker 2: those days right before it popped off, I really remember
- 16:11Speaker 2: asking myself what am I doing this for?
- 16:14Speaker 1: Right?
- 16:14Speaker 4: You know what I mean?
- 16:14Speaker 2: I didn't have much success, but I'm like, bro, we
- 16:17Speaker 2: really going to the studio and we in the studio
- 16:19Speaker 2: all day.
- 16:19Speaker 3: I don't got all this time and bandwidth into this
- 16:23Speaker 3: and you don't even know if it's gonna work out.
- 16:25Speaker 3: I don't even know what we're doing this for, you
- 16:28Speaker 3: know what I mean.
- 16:28Speaker 4: It's like, what do we try?
- 16:31Speaker 2: I know we're working on a project and it was
- 16:32Speaker 2: Drip season three at the time, but you know, I
- 16:35Speaker 2: didn't know why we was working so hard. And you know,
- 16:39Speaker 2: I mixed Drip season three and the same night he
- 16:42Speaker 2: was trying to record and I remember him telling me,
- 16:44Speaker 2: like because I was pissed. I'm like, bro, I've been
- 16:46Speaker 2: missing this fucking album all day. Bro, Like, what do
- 16:49Speaker 2: you mean play some beats? I don't got no beats.
- 16:51Speaker 2: I'm tired. I want to just chill, you know what
- 16:53Speaker 2: I mean. And it's like, Bro, trust the process, bro,
- 16:56Speaker 2: and uh, you know, you know, don't burn out and
- 16:59Speaker 2: just place and beach.
- 17:00Speaker 4: Just got to keep going. We fin to do it.
- 17:01Speaker 4: And I'm like, he's crazy.
- 17:04Speaker 3: Bro, But it really was the truth.
- 17:09Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying and even comparing to like
- 17:12Speaker 2: some of the producers I came in with, my trajectory
- 17:15Speaker 2: has been way further, you.
- 17:17Speaker 3: Know what I mean.
- 17:18Speaker 2: Like it's a lot of guys I came in with,
- 17:20Speaker 2: but they have success, you know, goal success, Like you know,
- 17:23Speaker 2: I'm not happy unless it's platinum, right, And that became.
- 17:26Speaker 3: A normal thing. But it was all about.
- 17:28Speaker 2: What we was putting into the music and how much
- 17:30Speaker 2: time we were spending on it. So that was like
- 17:33Speaker 2: that was like a good lesson that I was able
- 17:35Speaker 2: to learn with him. You know what I mean, what
- 17:37Speaker 2: is his writing process?
- 17:38Speaker 4: Like it is it?
- 17:40Speaker 3: Because you know, everybody's got their own. I mean I've
- 17:43Speaker 3: been in the studio with guys with it just beat
- 17:45Speaker 3: to play for like five minutes, ten minutes, and they'll
- 17:47Speaker 3: just lay down a bunch of shit, but I like
- 17:49Speaker 3: this part.
- 17:50Speaker 1: I like this part, and then they'll put it.
- 17:51Speaker 2: Together kind of. I mean, he got his own recording process.
- 17:56Speaker 2: But it's it's not like a you know, pinning pad
- 17:58Speaker 2: type of thing. It's like a player b if you
- 18:00Speaker 2: feel good, pull it up, you're gonna do it and
- 18:03Speaker 2: we're gonna do something else, you know what I mean.
- 18:04Speaker 2: It's not really a this or that, and it's different
- 18:07Speaker 2: every time.
- 18:08Speaker 3: Have you had any because I saw an interview did
- 18:12Speaker 3: not too long ago, because I thought it was dope
- 18:16Speaker 3: how everything happened to way it happened, and you stood
- 18:18Speaker 3: by your guy.
- 18:19Speaker 5: Ye.
- 18:19Speaker 1: Now you guys.
- 18:20Speaker 3: Have a number one album, A lot of people saying
- 18:22Speaker 3: album of the Year last year, snubbed for the Grammy, by.
- 18:25Speaker 1: The way, insane, Yeah, snubbed.
- 18:28Speaker 4: It happens.
- 18:29Speaker 1: It's wild, Well it happened.
- 18:31Speaker 3: But for you have like to kind of like be
- 18:34Speaker 3: that loyal and still be like, yo, we're locked in
- 18:37Speaker 3: because you were talking to him every day when he
- 18:38Speaker 3: was locked up. I saw hasd Like were other relationships
- 18:43Speaker 3: for you in the music industry affected by that?
- 18:46Speaker 4: I don't know yet, right, you know what I mean.
- 18:49Speaker 2: It's not weird when I'm out and when I'm doing stuff,
- 18:52Speaker 2: But I mean, I don't know yet.
- 18:54Speaker 3: I always been.
- 18:55Speaker 2: Like a person that just stay in the studio and
- 18:57Speaker 2: keep to myself. So I was never chummy chum with
- 19:00Speaker 2: people to the point to where I would notice like, oh,
- 19:02Speaker 2: this guy's acting different, or this guy's acting different.
- 19:04Speaker 1: You're not the guy who was like up in the mix,
- 19:05Speaker 1: fucking You're You're about work.
- 19:08Speaker 4: Yeah, you know what I mean.
- 19:09Speaker 2: I'm not going to your house party and shit every
- 19:11Speaker 2: day and you know whatever, whatever people do. I enjoy
- 19:15Speaker 2: being in the studio and just like working and learning
- 19:17Speaker 2: new stuff.
- 19:17Speaker 3: So I wouldn't say that.
- 19:20Speaker 2: It's definitely, you know, something to think about when I'm
- 19:23Speaker 2: moving around, But most of the time I forget, you know.
- 19:26Speaker 3: Because it's it's nothing makes sense these days.
- 19:30Speaker 1: It's yeah, for sure. I always tell people just like
- 19:33Speaker 1: we don't even know what is really going right.
- 19:35Speaker 4: I don't.
- 19:36Speaker 3: I think nobody knows what's going on. So it's like
- 19:38Speaker 3: you got to be a leader at get off the
- 19:40Speaker 3: shade room, man, you know what I mean. For you,
- 19:42Speaker 3: I always wonder I know you didn't make this beat,
- 19:44Speaker 3: but I know you were very heavily a part of
- 19:46Speaker 3: the process of this album. The fuck you mean beat
- 19:49Speaker 3: was insane? Yeah, were you like when you first just
- 19:51Speaker 3: heard that beat? That beat is so crazy and that
- 19:54Speaker 3: sampling that beat just that had to be because I
- 19:57Speaker 3: can only imagine, like, as a producer, you probably hear
- 19:59Speaker 3: beat everyone's.
- 20:00Speaker 1: Like, fuck I wish I made that one. Yeah for sure,
- 20:02Speaker 1: and that had to be one of those.
- 20:03Speaker 2: But he was kind of like hesitant about the song
- 20:07Speaker 2: really oh yeah, super hesitant, like and I was like, bro,
- 20:11Speaker 2: this is hard, Like you need to put this, put.
- 20:14Speaker 4: This on it.
- 20:14Speaker 2: He like you think so. I'm like yeah, cause we
- 20:17Speaker 2: was locked in and I had to go back to
- 20:19Speaker 2: Atlanta for like a week, two weeks or something like that,
- 20:21Speaker 2: and came back and he had it done and he
- 20:24Speaker 2: was playing me just like all the new stuff, and
- 20:27Speaker 2: he played that, but he was damn there fin to
- 20:29Speaker 2: skip over it, and I'm like, what's this. He played
- 20:32Speaker 2: it and I'm like, yeah, this is hard, and he's
- 20:34Speaker 2: like you think so. I'm like, bro, you need to
- 20:38Speaker 2: put that in comparison to everything else. You need to
- 20:40Speaker 2: put this out. Was like, all right, it's crazy. Yeah,
- 20:42Speaker 2: dunk rock, that's that's my man. Doun'k been working for
- 20:44Speaker 2: a long time for sure. He was sitting outside the
- 20:47Speaker 2: studio in like twenty nineteen with a big ass sign.
- 20:51Speaker 1: I remember that, Yeah, yeah that's the guy.
- 20:54Speaker 4: Yeah that's me recording the video.
- 20:55Speaker 1: Oh I remember that.
- 20:56Speaker 3: Yeah, Yeah, that's that's dunk rock.
- 20:58Speaker 2: Like he been grinding for a long own time, and
- 21:01Speaker 2: like he would come to all the events, producer events
- 21:03Speaker 2: in Atlanta and in La anywhere, so I've been seeing
- 21:07Speaker 2: him for a long time, so when I found out
- 21:08Speaker 2: that that was his beat, I was more so more
- 21:11Speaker 2: exciting about it, like oh yeah, like oh this is
- 21:14Speaker 2: this is broke. And then when it started taking office,
- 21:17Speaker 2: like you know, I like to see that, bro like
- 21:19Speaker 2: if you're working and you doing you grinding like stuff
- 21:21Speaker 2: that's not normal, you're not begging and it works for
- 21:24Speaker 2: you on that type of level, Like I was more
- 21:26Speaker 2: so happy for him.
- 21:27Speaker 1: That's super far. You're working on like a compilation type project.
- 21:30Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, my album?
- 21:31Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 21:32Speaker 1: Who else going to be on your album?
- 21:34Speaker 2: Nobody will want to just confirm right now, you know
- 21:36Speaker 2: how that shit go, you know.
- 21:38Speaker 3: But it's definitely exciting.
- 21:40Speaker 2: It's definitely something that you never heard of, and it's
- 21:42Speaker 2: gonna put a put a pole inside the world of
- 21:45Speaker 2: what my.
- 21:46Speaker 3: Music sounded like. Okay, you know what I mean. Flag pole, flagpole.
- 21:52Speaker 3: I was thinking it for Stripper pot first.
- 21:57Speaker 4: Everything.
- 22:00Speaker 3: We gotta leave it and go to the UH or
- 22:03Speaker 3: obviously the Bauchler Records doing this thing, but like what
- 22:05Speaker 3: is like, what, what's what's the plan when you're dropping
- 22:07Speaker 3: more music?
- 22:08Speaker 2: The bouncer or the Bachelor, The Bachelor, Yeah, Bachelor what's
- 22:12Speaker 2: the plan?
- 22:13Speaker 4: What it say?
- 22:14Speaker 1: It's been the record's been out for like, when's the
- 22:15Speaker 1: next record dropping?
- 22:16Speaker 2: I mean, yeah, we're trying to drop like springtime and
- 22:21Speaker 2: really like catch those spring going into summer months. It's
- 22:24Speaker 2: gonna be something, you know, fun And I'm just trying
- 22:28Speaker 2: to weigh it out right now.
- 22:29Speaker 3: See what I want to use. My catalog is nuts
- 22:32Speaker 3: at this point. You probably got like so many songs
- 22:35Speaker 3: just sitting in there. So many ain't even the word,
- 22:37Speaker 3: you know what I mean. It's like so many times
- 22:40Speaker 3: time six, you know what I mean. But I just
- 22:43Speaker 3: want to I just want to make it make sense
- 22:45Speaker 3: at this point, like these days, that timing is everything.
- 22:49Speaker 3: Outside of Gunner, who's another artist that you would love
- 22:52Speaker 3: to do like a full body of work with because
- 22:55Speaker 3: that's in again.
- 22:56Speaker 2: I feel like, yeah, I was just telling about Court.
- 23:00Speaker 2: I'm like bro like back in the day, like it
- 23:03Speaker 2: used to be one producer, right, you.
- 23:05Speaker 4: Know what I'm saying.
- 23:06Speaker 2: And that was like the NAS days and the nineties
- 23:09Speaker 2: and all that, like it was well, well not Nas.
- 23:12Speaker 1: It felt very curated.
- 23:13Speaker 3: It felt very like even if you're not getting every
- 23:16Speaker 3: like like you know, it felt like the albums were
- 23:18Speaker 3: moving in.
- 23:19Speaker 2: Sonically because it was one sound, yeah exactly, so like
- 23:22Speaker 2: it we got to get back to that to that point.
- 23:26Speaker 2: I would love to do that with a lot of
- 23:27Speaker 2: different people. I work a lot of a lot with
- 23:30Speaker 2: Roddy and I'm doing like his next project right now.
- 23:33Speaker 2: Oh really, Yeah, how's it sounding because we're waiting incredible.
- 23:37Speaker 3: Roddy's an alien people. People don't understand Roody's a fucking alien.
- 23:40Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, yeah, he different.
- 23:42Speaker 3: And it sucks because, like I feel like, please excuse
- 23:45Speaker 3: me for being anti social. Came out in December of
- 23:48Speaker 3: twenty nineteen, and then the Pandemic hits. The box is
- 23:53Speaker 3: the biggest song in the fucking world, and like he
- 23:56Speaker 3: really really wasn't able to like fully enjoy what that
- 24:00Speaker 3: it's like with the world open.
- 24:01Speaker 1: Like for real, Like I mean obviously he went on
- 24:03Speaker 1: his tour right.
- 24:04Speaker 3: Before the pandemic started, but like festival season was out
- 24:07Speaker 3: for him, you know what I'm saying, the whole project,
- 24:10Speaker 3: and you know he is for he's a literal anti
- 24:13Speaker 3: social guy.
- 24:13Speaker 1: Like he's an introvert. Like people think it's like a
- 24:15Speaker 1: gimmick or something. It's not.
- 24:16Speaker 2: No, we like one and the same. Like we talked
- 24:18Speaker 2: he'll be telling me stuff. I'm like, bro, I do
- 24:20Speaker 2: the exact same thing.
- 24:21Speaker 1: He's an alien, Like he's so good.
- 24:22Speaker 4: Yeah he's fired.
- 24:23Speaker 1: So so you're handling a lot of his new projects.
- 24:26Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, I'm helping him pick out all the songs
- 24:29Speaker 2: and like do the track listing. So that's somebody I'm
- 24:31Speaker 2: that like a good friend of mine, you know what
- 24:33Speaker 2: I mean, We've been locked in for some years just
- 24:35Speaker 2: on some some brother shit, just having conversations, not even
- 24:38Speaker 2: about music.
- 24:40Speaker 3: So with this is like I really want him to win. Yeah,
- 24:42Speaker 3: me too, man. He's a great kid. Yeah, so that'd
- 24:45Speaker 3: be hard for you. Man. I always say there's a
- 24:50Speaker 3: few ways to go about the pub game, right, because
- 24:54Speaker 3: it is a very interesting side of the game if
- 24:58Speaker 3: you're an up and coming produce, Sir. Sometimes taking a
- 25:01Speaker 3: pub deal to like too early could fuck you up,
- 25:03Speaker 3: but sometimes taking it too soon can also help you
- 25:06Speaker 3: out because they put you in a bunch.
- 25:07Speaker 1: Of sessions and shit that might not have happened for you.
- 25:10Speaker 3: Like, what would be the advice you would give in
- 25:13Speaker 3: terms of how to navigate the pub world as a
- 25:16Speaker 3: producer or a songwriter.
- 25:18Speaker 2: I mean, I still got notes about the difference between
- 25:23Speaker 2: co pub publishing and admin inside my phone to this day. Yeah,
- 25:27Speaker 2: from just reading articles and teaching myself on what's the
- 25:30Speaker 2: difference and being able to make a calculated decision. I
- 25:34Speaker 2: didn't take a co pull up deal until like two
- 25:37Speaker 2: years of success.
- 25:38Speaker 3: Yeah, because for people who don't know, like an admin
- 25:40Speaker 3: deal is very bare minimum. They're handling kind of they're administrating, Yeah,
- 25:45Speaker 3: they're they're they're handling kind of the grunt work of
- 25:48Speaker 3: your pub. A co pup deal they're fully partners on
- 25:52Speaker 3: your publisher for either for perpetuity, which you shouldn't sign
- 25:56Speaker 3: never or like a tenured period or whatever the period is.
- 26:00Speaker 4: Years is too long, but whatever it is.
- 26:01Speaker 3: Yeah, so yeah, so there are differences for that. But
- 26:04Speaker 3: like for you, like what what what made it make.
- 26:07Speaker 1: Sense for you to do a co pub situation?
- 26:09Speaker 4: Eventually the money, you know what I mean.
- 26:12Speaker 3: And where I was at in my life and in
- 26:13Speaker 3: my career, I had already.
- 26:15Speaker 2: Did admin deal and was making money and it was
- 26:19Speaker 2: cool and I was able to live, but it was
- 26:22Speaker 2: my situation, you know what I mean, And when the
- 26:24Speaker 2: opportunity came, it's like, all right, cool, we're gonna take this,
- 26:27Speaker 2: you know what I mean. And from that, I was
- 26:28Speaker 2: able to pay my grandmother's house off, take care of
- 26:31Speaker 2: my mom, take care of myself. You know, all of
- 26:34Speaker 2: these different things that I that I always dreamt to do.
- 26:37Speaker 2: The opportunity came and I did it. So I say
- 26:40Speaker 2: for anybody, like the young guys, the older guys or
- 26:43Speaker 2: whatever it is, it's like, you gotta really understand what
- 26:46Speaker 2: these things are first and then make a calculated decision because.
- 26:50Speaker 1: There's not a one shoe fits all situation.
- 26:53Speaker 3: Everything could be different for everybody, Like different situations might
- 26:56Speaker 3: work for you wherever you're at life or yeah, vice
- 26:59Speaker 3: versas something.
- 27:00Speaker 2: So I always say, like just educate yourself, Like the
- 27:03Speaker 2: more you know about it, the easier to be able
- 27:05Speaker 2: to make a decision when somebody does come, because they
- 27:07Speaker 2: always come.
- 27:09Speaker 4: You get a big song.
- 27:09Speaker 2: You're getting called from everybody, you know what I mean,
- 27:12Speaker 2: And it's it's whatever it's gonna be, whoever you're comfortable with.
- 27:16Speaker 4: But you gotta know what you're doing.
- 27:18Speaker 3: Yeah, it's gonna happen if you catch one, it's everybody's
- 27:20Speaker 3: gonna happen.
- 27:21Speaker 4: Yeah, and you gotta you gotta know what you're doing.
- 27:23Speaker 3: So what about for you, Like because IO notice some producers,
- 27:30Speaker 3: once they get a lot more successful, your time, your
- 27:33Speaker 3: bandwidth becomes like less available for making beats. How much
- 27:38Speaker 3: of your time do you allocate to still actually like
- 27:42Speaker 3: cooking up on the laptop or in the studio, Like.
- 27:45Speaker 2: Bro, it's early as hell, I just left the studio. Yeah,
- 27:48Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying at like six this morning. Wow,
- 27:51Speaker 2: it's like a job.
- 27:52Speaker 4: You know.
- 27:52Speaker 2: I don't treat it like a job because I'm living
- 27:54Speaker 2: my dream. But I still you know, I'm still a hustler.
- 27:58Speaker 2: I'm still out here and going to the studios and
- 28:01Speaker 2: going from place to place and you know, taking over
- 28:04Speaker 2: the room and letting people know that I'm here and
- 28:06Speaker 2: I'm available all.
- 28:07Speaker 3: This different stuff. So I would say all my time,
- 28:12Speaker 3: because some people feel like they get on they start
- 28:13Speaker 3: popping and then they got little mini producers under them.
- 28:16Speaker 2: Man, that was like but their tags on it, and
- 28:19Speaker 2: it's like read the credits.
- 28:20Speaker 1: You know, there's thirteen motherfuckers on this.
- 28:23Speaker 4: You know, Oh my god, that's the worst, Bro.
- 28:26Speaker 3: I mean, And some producers that's what they do and
- 28:29Speaker 3: they don't deny that that's what they do.
- 28:31Speaker 2: And I get it, you know, as I get more
- 28:34Speaker 2: into this game, and understand what it's about.
- 28:36Speaker 4: You know, I get it.
- 28:37Speaker 2: So it's not no shade on nobody, But for me,
- 28:40Speaker 2: it's like, you know, I look up to like the
- 28:42Speaker 2: Quincy Joneses of the world, and you know, the Doctor
- 28:47Speaker 2: Dre's the people that were if you was gonna do that,
- 28:50Speaker 2: it was gonna sound incredible.
- 28:52Speaker 1: And it was gonna sound like them, and it was
- 28:54Speaker 1: gonna be.
- 28:54Speaker 2: Their sound, right, you know what I mean. So you
- 28:57Speaker 2: can't do that, and then you don't make a sound
- 29:00Speaker 2: like Turbo has a sound. Turbo is a super producer.
- 29:02Speaker 2: Turbo is like you know, you can it's like a
- 29:05Speaker 2: for real beat and his thumb thumb. Everybody knows his
- 29:08Speaker 2: sound without it even happen to be a tag on it.
- 29:11Speaker 2: So if you're not doing that, then you're just cheating.
- 29:14Speaker 3: I guess who's on your Mount Rushmore of producers all
- 29:17Speaker 3: time hip hop, only hip hop, strictly hip hop.
- 29:19Speaker 1: So take Quincy, you gotta take yourself off as well.
- 29:23Speaker 1: You can't be there.
- 29:24Speaker 2: Yeah, I wouldn't even put myself on the Mount Rushmore. Yeah,
- 29:27Speaker 2: four of them, four people, Timblin for sure, for sure,
- 29:40Speaker 2: Timbling for sure. I would probably have to say it's
- 29:50Speaker 2: not even probably Atoven.
- 29:53Speaker 1: For sure.
- 29:54Speaker 4: I love Atoven.
- 29:55Speaker 2: That's huge fan of Atoven, Justice Lee, I love Justice
- 30:01Speaker 2: Leg You're gonna have to put them all on one head.
- 30:05Speaker 4: And then you said four more.
- 30:14Speaker 3: Mm hmm, damn you killing me? Only hip hop? Only
- 30:19Speaker 3: hip hop doctor dre doctor Justice League so hard.
- 30:25Speaker 4: Justice League is crazy, like all the raw shit.
- 30:28Speaker 2: I always wanted to always compare like my Circle and
- 30:32Speaker 2: the playmakers to like a mixture of Justice League because
- 30:36Speaker 2: it's real music and it's real compositions, but like the
- 30:43Speaker 2: trap sound.
- 30:44Speaker 4: Of like eight Away my fear, that's fire.
- 30:47Speaker 2: I always wanted to like, yeah, you know what I
- 30:50Speaker 2: mean and make it into like.
- 30:51Speaker 3: A thing because Justice League had like cinematic Yeah, like
- 30:54Speaker 3: you'd be like huge songs.
- 30:57Speaker 1: Sound like a fucking like a movie.
- 30:59Speaker 4: Yeah, like a soundtrack.
- 31:01Speaker 1: Yeah. Like That's why I always say Ross always got
- 31:03Speaker 1: the best beat.
- 31:04Speaker 3: Oh I still listen to it today.
- 31:06Speaker 4: Bro.
- 31:07Speaker 3: Like Ross's ear for beats is like a fucking up
- 31:09Speaker 3: there man all time.
- 31:11Speaker 2: That's another That's another person I would love to work with,
- 31:13Speaker 2: like on some whole project or just locked and ship
- 31:16Speaker 2: Like I love Ross.
- 31:18Speaker 3: Do you ever go on YouTube and type in your
- 31:20Speaker 3: name type beats? Never have you ever had anything like
- 31:25Speaker 3: where you've heard your ship like, because there's actual fucking
- 31:29Speaker 3: fake metro booming beats out there, like with THEA on
- 31:33Speaker 3: it and everything.
- 31:34Speaker 1: Are there people bootlegging your beats?
- 31:36Speaker 4: Of course?
- 31:36Speaker 3: You know that happened, like where you're like someone will
- 31:38Speaker 3: hit you up, like, yo, we have a song together.
- 31:40Speaker 1: You'd be like, I didn't make.
- 31:41Speaker 2: That beat, bro, this should pop up on my on
- 31:43Speaker 2: my Spotify, you know what I mean. And it's like,
- 31:46Speaker 2: you know, Turbo produced this and this. I've never heard
- 31:48Speaker 2: of this guy or this song, you know, like however
- 31:51Speaker 2: you do when you plug in the songs. I don't
- 31:53Speaker 2: know how they do it, but yeah, that happens all
- 31:55Speaker 2: the time. And people call me and say, yeah, I
- 31:58Speaker 2: got this pack from such and such from you.
- 32:00Speaker 3: Uh, and I don't know if it's real or.
- 32:02Speaker 4: Not, you know what I mean. And it's like, well,
- 32:04Speaker 4: you got to pack from who?
- 32:05Speaker 1: So if it pops up on your Spotify, how do
- 32:07Speaker 1: you take care of that? You just you just have
- 32:08Speaker 1: a call ag Hey, call Spotify. Get this shit taken down?
- 32:12Speaker 4: Do you think you know what I'm saying this?
- 32:14Speaker 3: It ain't right because I was talking I was talking
- 32:16Speaker 3: to the South side, and I was like, bro, do
- 32:17Speaker 3: you know how many struggle rappers in my life for
- 32:19Speaker 3: the last ten to twelve years have come to me
- 32:22Speaker 3: and said that they got eight Away Mafia beats dogs? Oh?
- 32:25Speaker 3: And he was like, I know, because the thing about
- 32:28Speaker 3: the eight Away Mafia is there's like a lot of
- 32:30Speaker 3: affiliates and the take that tag and then dog like, Bro,
- 32:34Speaker 3: I got the tag.
- 32:35Speaker 1: Everybody know what I'm saying.
- 32:36Speaker 3: Everybody has a tag like you know what I'm saying.
- 32:39Speaker 3: This was a thing in a producer community.
- 32:41Speaker 1: He's like, yo, yo, who you got on the app? Man?
- 32:43Speaker 3: We got eight Away made away right right? And be cushking.
- 32:51Speaker 1: That shit's so funny.
- 32:52Speaker 3: I should frustrate the hell out of me because you
- 32:54Speaker 3: got such an iconic tag.
- 32:55Speaker 1: Like, man, you just can't put that shit on anything.
- 32:57Speaker 2: Yeah, you can't just But I mean, like like I said,
- 33:00Speaker 2: it's not always about the tag because you also know
- 33:02Speaker 2: when you when you hear Bachelor, it's like his first
- 33:05Speaker 2: five seconds.
- 33:06Speaker 3: As soon as it comes on, you're like, what is this?
- 33:08Speaker 3: Who is this?
- 33:09Speaker 2: So I always try to get that wow factor. It's
- 33:11Speaker 2: not that then it's not a turbo beat.
- 33:14Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 33:15Speaker 3: What was it like being in the studio with Savage
- 33:18Speaker 3: and Metro Boom and working like just recording that project. Bro,
- 33:23Speaker 3: Metro is a dog. Bro, he been a dog, you
- 33:26Speaker 3: know what I'm saying. Since and you're just like forever
- 33:29Speaker 3: running pro tools the whole time.
- 33:30Speaker 4: Hell yeah, that shits so far.
- 33:32Speaker 2: I'm telling him, like I got beats, you know what
- 33:34Speaker 2: I'm saying. Like, but you know they ain't really he
- 33:37Speaker 2: was out. He wasn't really listening at that time. But
- 33:40Speaker 2: just to see on work and see how it went
- 33:42Speaker 2: like it was dope. And then see the success that
- 33:44Speaker 2: came from it, that was super dope. Just to watch
- 33:46Speaker 2: the whole process. But yeah, I think it's like a
- 33:49Speaker 2: Vice show that came out, like Welcome to Atlanta or
- 33:52Speaker 2: Atlanta Music or something.
- 33:53Speaker 1: I remember that I watched that.
- 33:55Speaker 3: Yeah, I think they went and saw the Migos tutoring
- 33:58Speaker 3: that time when they was when it was doing the
- 34:00Speaker 3: Savage sessions.
- 34:01Speaker 4: I was in all of those, just sitting in the back.
- 34:03Speaker 2: So it's for me at that time, it was like
- 34:06Speaker 2: being able to see it at like one of the
- 34:08Speaker 2: highest levels on some modern shit, not on some like
- 34:11Speaker 2: you know, old school, old school shit, you know what
- 34:13Speaker 2: I mean. So it was it was definitely dope. It
- 34:17Speaker 2: definitely helped me change the way I thought about things,
- 34:21Speaker 2: and like how much time and energy I was gonna
- 34:23Speaker 2: put into it?
- 34:24Speaker 4: And you know, I just took that and ran with it.
- 34:27Speaker 3: How inspiring is it for you to be someone who's
- 34:30Speaker 3: working on your debut album as a producer and then
- 34:33Speaker 3: you see metro boom and put out heroes and villains
- 34:35Speaker 3: and it's like, to me, the best version of that
- 34:39Speaker 3: that's ever been done ever.
- 34:40Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean I.
- 34:41Speaker 3: Don't think any compilation album a shout out to Calend.
- 34:44Speaker 1: I love Calend, shout to everybody.
- 34:45Speaker 3: Yeah, nobody who's ever done that has ever done it
- 34:48Speaker 3: even close to that, to that level. Yeah, it's cohesive.
- 34:54Speaker 3: It's just it's like a perfect album.
- 34:56Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 34:57Speaker 2: Like, and and to be able to watch it first
- 35:00Speaker 2: hand and see how much time he put into it.
- 35:04Speaker 3: And you feel that when you hear it, you're like, oh,
- 35:06Speaker 3: this wasn't just like let me just get the hottest motherfuckers,
- 35:08Speaker 3: throw them all together, nah and put out a project. No,
- 35:11Speaker 3: this felt like blood sweating tears right right right right.
- 35:15Speaker 3: I mean it's it's I can speak for every producer
- 35:19Speaker 3: out there, it's like super inspirational It's one of the
- 35:22Speaker 3: reasons why I'm not getting frustrated with my album.
- 35:24Speaker 4: And continuing to do it. But trust the process. Yeah.
- 35:27Speaker 2: I watched him like do this for two or three years,
- 35:30Speaker 2: and then when it came out, it was like, oh wow,
- 35:32Speaker 2: this is what you was doing all this time.
- 35:35Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 35:35Speaker 3: No, it's amazing bodywork. Hopefully get you said springtime drop
- 35:40Speaker 3: more music?
- 35:40Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, like once it starts getting like March, sometimes
- 35:45Speaker 2: we're gonna drop the next single and just see how
- 35:47Speaker 2: it feels about the album. But I'm working on so
- 35:49Speaker 2: many projects right now. I'm not in a super rush.
- 35:54Speaker 3: How close is the roddy shit from being done? I
- 35:57Speaker 3: don't know if you want me to announce it with
- 35:58Speaker 3: it's coming though. It's coming like a freight train. Okay, yeah, and.
- 36:03Speaker 2: It's hardest fun, you know what I'm saying, Like for
- 36:07Speaker 2: lack of a bitter terms. So yeah, I'm excited about
- 36:10Speaker 2: that for real and just to see him go up
- 36:12Speaker 2: for real.
- 36:13Speaker 1: For sure me too.
- 36:14Speaker 3: Man. Well, look, I appreciate you pulling up go stream
- 36:16Speaker 3: your single Bachelor It's out now, I mean shit, man,
- 36:21Speaker 3: congrats on all success.
