- 0:00Speaker 1: Ron Verb on News Radio 570 WKBN. All right.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Testing 1, 2, 3. Good afternoon and welcome. It's Monday.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Almost the end of September, boys and girls. Welcome to Monday,
- 0:13Speaker 2: September 28th. It's really, I think, this is the kind
- 0:17Speaker 2: of days I like. 68 degrees, overcast. You don't have
- 0:22Speaker 2: the sun beating down on you or anything like that.
- 0:24Speaker 2: It's just a pleasant, almost fall-like day for us right here.
- 0:29Speaker 2: In my neck of the woods, in the kingdom of Mahoney.
- 0:31Speaker 2: So wherever you are, whatever you're doing, hope all is
- 0:34Speaker 2: well with you. And so we proceed on here. Top
- 0:37Speaker 2: secret numbers, as always.
- 0:38Speaker 3: 330.
- 0:39Speaker 2: Let me see. I've got to do one thing here, gang,
- 0:42Speaker 2: that I'm just trying to do. There we go.
- 0:43Speaker 4: 330-729-9977.
- 0:44Speaker 5: 330-729-9977.
- 0:44Speaker 2: We'll get you through to us on NewsRadio 570. Nobody
- 0:46Speaker 2: can be in. So keep that in mind. I appreciate
- 0:57Speaker 2: those of you that joined us on Friday for my
- 1:01Speaker 2: conversation with some of the folks over the years that
- 1:08Speaker 2: we're sharing some of our memories of this great radio station.
- 1:12Speaker 2: It turned 100 years old on Saturday. And some of
- 1:16Speaker 2: the great stories from Tim Duffy and Dan Rivers. And
- 1:20Speaker 2: just was a pleasant afternoon in Bill Kelly for everybody.
- 1:23Speaker 2: All of us for that afternoon and monumental accomplishments that
- 1:29Speaker 2: has taken place 100 years old for this great radio station.
- 1:32Speaker 2: So it was an interesting day for me. Then there
- 1:34Speaker 2: was a get-together on Saturday with, of course, J.D. Williamson,
- 1:40Speaker 2: who is one of the founder's sons. And obviously there
- 1:48Speaker 2: was Warren Williamson Jr. and then Bud Williamson, who passed away.
- 1:52Speaker 2: The one son and then J.D. Williamson. But it was
- 1:55Speaker 2: a nice event, to say the least. And anyway, celebrating
- 1:57Speaker 2: 100 years. And boy, time really does go fast, I
- 2:00Speaker 2: got to tell you. It just flies, absolutely flies by.
- 2:05Speaker 2: And remember when you were young and they would tell
- 2:07Speaker 2: you that? And you said, oh, that's BS. Seemed like
- 2:10Speaker 2: time would drag on forever when you were in high
- 2:12Speaker 2: school or when you were in college. Or maybe even
- 2:15Speaker 2: when you were in your 20s. Something I'm here to
- 2:19Speaker 2: tell you. it's probably when you start to get into
- 2:22Speaker 2: your 30s that you will be shocked at how quickly
- 2:27Speaker 2: life will go racing by. And I would say that
- 2:31Speaker 2: hits about in your 30s, how quickly you go through
- 2:33Speaker 2: your 30s. Next thing you know, you're in your 40s.
- 2:35Speaker 2: Next thing you know, you're in your 50s. And it
- 2:38Speaker 2: goes very fast, to say the least. And, Jenna, your
- 2:41Speaker 2: goal is, as you get older, is to just stay
- 2:43Speaker 2: healthy and to stick around. And if you're lucky enough
- 2:46Speaker 2: to have children, watch them grow up and see what
- 2:48Speaker 2: happens with them. And you want to Stick around as
- 2:50Speaker 2: long as you can to enjoy all of that. So anyway,
- 2:54Speaker 2: needless to say, there you go. Some reflections on our history.
- 3:00Speaker 2: And for me to be here 41 years, that's a
- 3:02Speaker 2: long time of the hundred years, if you think about it.
- 3:05Speaker 2: I mean, that's a good chunk of time to be
- 3:08Speaker 2: at this radio station. And that's all good. So what else? Well,
- 3:12Speaker 2: let me see what awaits me. You're on the air.
- 3:15Speaker 6: Ron, I want to go back in time because this
- 3:18Speaker 6: morning on our breakfast click coffee gathering at McDonald's, we
- 3:22Speaker 6: were talking about cooking.
- 3:24Speaker 2: There's nothing sad. Now, this is what's sad.
- 3:26Speaker 7: We're talking about cooking.
- 3:28Speaker 2: What is there about when you get old, like you,
- 3:32Speaker 2: that you've got to meet people at McDonald's? And this
- 3:36Speaker 2: goes on everywhere.
- 3:37Speaker 6: We talk about when we were growing up and how
- 3:39Speaker 6: we were raised.
- 3:40Speaker 2: Why do you do that?
- 3:41Speaker 8: What we ate.
- 3:43Speaker 6: It was all about food this morning.
- 3:45Speaker 2: Yes, but don't stop living in the past. I can't
- 3:49Speaker 2: get over everybody that lives in the past. Stop living
- 3:52Speaker 2: in the past. Look ahead to the future.
- 3:55Speaker 6: Well, we don't have much time on our planet in
- 4:00Speaker 6: our 70s and 80s, so we reflect on the past.
- 4:05Speaker 6: When I was young, I would visit the senior citizens,
- 4:09Speaker 6: my relatives and that, and we would all reflect on
- 4:13Speaker 6: the past.
- 4:14Speaker 4: And now I'm reflecting on the past.
- 4:16Speaker 6: You know, my dad loved mashed potatoes. I grew up
- 4:20Speaker 6: on mashed potatoes. Hang on one second.
- 4:25Speaker 2: Jesus, give me the strength to get through this call.
- 4:30Speaker 2: I call on you. It's a moment of prayer for
- 4:32Speaker 2: me to be able to get through this. So he
- 4:35Speaker 2: wants to talk about going to McDonald's and meeting with
- 4:41Speaker 2: a bunch of his old guys, and they're talking about food.
- 4:45Speaker 2: This is what he wants to share with us today. Jesus,
- 4:49Speaker 2: I don't even think I can take it. I don't
- 4:54Speaker 2: care about mashed potatoes.
- 4:55Speaker 6: You know how you cook a brisket, beef brisket? You
- 4:59Speaker 6: only cook it.
- 5:00Speaker 2: For an hour and a half, two hours.
- 5:02Speaker 6: The Lord is not answering my prayers.
- 5:04Speaker 9: No.
- 5:04Speaker 2: Stand by. Stand by. Stand by, please. You're on the air.
- 5:09Speaker 10: Well, I was three of four this weekend.
- 5:12Speaker 8: How about the Browns?
- 5:13Speaker 2: Well, first of all, guess what? It was exciting. It
- 5:17Speaker 2: was absolutely exciting. What a great finish. I mean, you know,
- 5:22Speaker 2: like the cardiac kids, like they say, you're sweating this
- 5:25Speaker 2: game out to the very end. And as I was
- 5:28Speaker 2: saying to Dan Rivers on Friday, I listen to these games.
- 5:30Speaker 2: I'm out and about doing stuff. And I got to
- 5:32Speaker 2: tell you, I am liking Siciliano as a play-by-play guy. Yeah,
- 5:36Speaker 2: he's pretty good, isn't he? Yeah, I'm liking him. Oh,
- 5:39Speaker 2: I forget the color guy's name on there with him.
- 5:43Speaker 2: But I like that combination. I listen to the games.
- 5:49Speaker 2: And so what an exciting finish. And I mean, it
- 5:51Speaker 2: was right down to the wire. So then I'm listening
- 5:55Speaker 2: to the post game show and folks guess who I
- 5:58Speaker 2: hear on the post game show.
- 6:00Speaker 8: Oh, did you, did you hear me?
- 6:02Speaker 2: Yes, I did. Yes, I did. I heard you on
- 6:06Speaker 2: the post game show.
- 6:07Speaker 11: Yes.
- 6:08Speaker 2: It was unbelievable to me. I mean, I saw him listening,
- 6:10Speaker 2: and I'm saying, wait a minute. Where is he? And
- 6:13Speaker 2: there he is. There's Dick from Dayton on the postgame show.
- 6:16Speaker 2: It was incredible.
- 6:17Speaker 8: Yeah, they're pretty good, aren't they? You like them?
- 6:20Speaker 2: Yes. Phelps in the postgame show, yes. I think it's
- 6:23Speaker 2: really good.
- 6:25Speaker 8: Yeah. Hey, how about the Guardians, too?
- 6:28Speaker 7: How about that?
- 6:30Speaker 2: How about the Guardians? It was two out of three, right?
- 6:34Speaker 12: Yes.
- 6:36Speaker 2: Yeah. Excellent there. The Guardians were excellent, winning two out
- 6:40Speaker 2: of three. And the Browns are victorious. It's kind of
- 6:45Speaker 2: an exciting time for Cleveland sports, wouldn't you agree? Yeah,
- 6:48Speaker 2: it is.
- 6:49Speaker 3: It is.
- 6:50Speaker 10: And, you know, I think they play Thursday night. I
- 6:54Speaker 10: hope we get it because I'm going to be watching
- 6:56Speaker 10: that on Thursday night.
- 6:59Speaker 2: It's a quick turnaround. It is a quick turnaround.
- 7:02Speaker 8: That's going to be a close game.
- 7:03Speaker 10: I think they could win that game, though, don't you?
- 7:06Speaker 8: I think they'll win that game.
- 7:07Speaker 2: I have absolutely no idea. I think that they are
- 7:11Speaker 2: blessed that they won the game that they just won,
- 7:14Speaker 2: don't you? Oh, yeah.
- 7:16Speaker 10: Yeah, that's good.
- 7:19Speaker 2: I mean, it was a hell of a weekend, both
- 7:22Speaker 2: for the Guardians and for the Browns. There's no question.
- 7:27Speaker 2: Thursday's going to be interesting.
- 7:29Speaker 4: Have a good day, buddy.
- 7:30Speaker 2: All right, there he is, Dick from Dayton, our official
- 7:33Speaker 2: sports prognosticator, incidentally. On the program. So keep that in mind.
- 7:39Speaker 2: Schumer kills bipartisan utility relief and hands Thune a midterm lifeline.
- 7:44Speaker 2: What could that possibly mean, you're saying? Well, I'll tell
- 7:47Speaker 2: you what that means. Let's see. I mean, I don't
- 7:49Speaker 2: understand what that's all about, but that's one of the
- 7:53Speaker 2: stories that's making headlines. Senate Republicans scrap early exit from
- 7:58Speaker 2: Washington as midterm stakes soar.
- 8:00Speaker 4: All right.
- 8:01Speaker 13: Thanks.
- 8:02Speaker 2: It's a calculation by Republicans to keep the Senate in
- 8:05Speaker 2: session this week. Yes, the Senate was scheduled to meet
- 8:08Speaker 2: anyway over the next few days, but the general consensus
- 8:12Speaker 2: earlier last week was that the Senate would be done then,
- 8:15Speaker 2: and those facing competitive races would be back home campaigning.
- 8:19Speaker 2: Then Wednesday hit. Republicans wanted to stay in Washington for
- 8:22Speaker 2: a very specific reason, and many of them told Senate
- 8:25Speaker 2: Majority Leader John Thune... as much at their weekly luncheon.
- 8:30Speaker 2: Odds are we plan on being here next week. One
- 8:34Speaker 2: Senate aide said, compared the Senate schedule to a cat
- 8:38Speaker 2: chasing a beam of light from a laser pointer. But
- 8:40Speaker 2: the Senate is in fact meeting. There are reasons. Most
- 8:43Speaker 2: of them, they say, are political. The Senate wasn't quite
- 8:46Speaker 2: done with the bill to regulate money in intercollegiate athletics
- 8:51Speaker 2: last week. Who cares? I mean, really, who cares? This
- 8:55Speaker 2: is what's wrong, folks. I want you to hear this.
- 8:59Speaker 2: So they decided to stay because the Senate wasn't quite
- 9:02Speaker 2: done with the bill to regulate money and intercollegiate athletics
- 9:05Speaker 2: last week. You have a country that's $ 40- plus trillion in debt.
- 9:09Speaker 2: You have energy prices soaring, affordability, the big issue, the
- 9:14Speaker 2: war in Iran, the war in Ukraine, the situation that
- 9:20Speaker 2: we have with destruction of some of these refineries in
- 9:24Speaker 2: the Middle East and in the Ukraine. and to rising
- 9:28Speaker 2: oil prices as a result of it. Here's a key, incidentally,
- 9:31Speaker 2: as we start the broadcast today, people say, it's not
- 9:34Speaker 2: necessarily about oil because you don't fill your car with oil.
- 9:38Speaker 2: You fill it with gasoline. So obviously oil is a
- 9:42Speaker 2: component to that. But what these guys are saying is
- 9:45Speaker 2: we have a refining problem. Yes, oil is getting more expensive,
- 9:49Speaker 2: but we have a refining problem. And by doing this
- 9:51Speaker 2: destruction that they're doing in Ukraine, that Ukraine is doing
- 9:55Speaker 2: in Russia, Which makes you ask the following question. If
- 10:03Speaker 2: President Trump says to Zelensky, don't take out the refining
- 10:11Speaker 2: capabilities in Russia because it can cause a global crisis,
- 10:17Speaker 2: So this is the President of the United States telling Zelensky,
- 10:20Speaker 2: don't mess with the refineries in Russia because you'll create
- 10:26Speaker 2: a global energy crisis when it comes to diesel. This
- 10:31Speaker 2: is the President of the United States, the country that's
- 10:34Speaker 2: been backing him. We've given him billions of dollars in
- 10:37Speaker 2: money and in arms. And Zelensky ignores Trump and the
- 10:43Speaker 2: President of the United States. He ignores Trump and he
- 10:46Speaker 2: does it anyway. And as a result of it, you
- 10:52Speaker 2: got sky-high diesel prices. So my question would be, who
- 10:58Speaker 2: is Zelensky listening to? If Zelensky doesn't listen to President Trump,
- 11:06Speaker 2: And he says, don't take out that oil infrastructure or
- 11:09Speaker 2: the refining capabilities. And he doesn't anyway. Who is he
- 11:13Speaker 2: listening to? Ask yourself that question. Who is he listening to?
- 11:21Speaker 2: Because what Trump said would happen is happening because of
- 11:24Speaker 2: the price of diesel. And the difficulty, not just the
- 11:27Speaker 2: price of diesel, but potentially the shortage of diesel. Big problem.
- 11:34Speaker 2: Then meanwhile, you have the same situation going on in
- 11:36Speaker 2: the Middle East with Iran blasting some of these refineries
- 11:41Speaker 2: out or causing some damage in them. And they say
- 11:45Speaker 2: it takes a considerable chunk of time. This isn't something
- 11:48Speaker 2: you can fix in a week or two. They say
- 11:50Speaker 2: the damage it's done to some of these refineries will
- 11:52Speaker 2: take a considerable chunk of time to fix. So the
- 11:57Speaker 2: situation keeps getting worse. The situation just keeps getting worse.
- 12:09Speaker 2: And who knows where it's going to head. So they
- 12:13Speaker 2: say that there's a potential shortage of diesel fuel. That's
- 12:17Speaker 2: why it's costing so much because of what I said.
- 12:20Speaker 2: That also is home heating oil. So people that heat
- 12:26Speaker 2: with oil, which is a substantial number of people in
- 12:28Speaker 2: the country, God only knows what they're going to have
- 12:31Speaker 2: to pay to fill up. A lot of these people
- 12:32Speaker 2: have a 250-gallon tank. Some of them have two of them,
- 12:35Speaker 2: 500 gallons. So can you imagine what it's going to
- 12:39Speaker 2: cost them to fill up their tank to heat the
- 12:41Speaker 2: winter season? It's going to be astronomical. Absolutely astronomical. Does
- 12:48Speaker 2: anybody give a damn about that?
- 12:49Speaker 14: So no.
- 12:50Speaker 2: So you have the Senate. Well, is the Senate there saying,
- 12:54Speaker 2: because this is my idea, I say, and really as
- 12:57Speaker 2: a country, we haven't built any new refineries since the 70s.
- 13:02Speaker 2: Our refining capability, boys and girls, is at 98, almost 99%.
- 13:07Speaker 2: So there's no buffer there. So we're at full capacity.
- 13:13Speaker 2: And what we really need is more refining capabilities in
- 13:16Speaker 2: the United States of America. We need them here. And
- 13:23Speaker 2: it seems to me, this is one of the few
- 13:24Speaker 2: times that I would, because usually it's private sector, and
- 13:28Speaker 2: I'm not a big proponent of private government sector type projects.
- 13:33Speaker 2: But it seems to me that we should have a
- 13:38Speaker 2: mission to build refineries in the United States of America
- 13:43Speaker 2: that should be a public-private partnership to get it done
- 13:48Speaker 2: almost around the clock. I mean, this stuff should be
- 13:51Speaker 2: going on around the clock to build this and to
- 13:54Speaker 2: get it done because we don't have any excess refining capabilities.
- 13:58Speaker 2: As I said, we haven't built any new refineries since
- 14:00Speaker 2: the 70s. And all of our refineries deal with heavy crude,
- 14:06Speaker 2: and we have light crude in the United States. So
- 14:10Speaker 2: wouldn't it be nice if we built refineries that can
- 14:14Speaker 2: deal solely with light crude? And seriously, work around the clock,
- 14:20Speaker 2: seven days a week, public-private partnership on it to get
- 14:24Speaker 2: these things up and running. Because you have big problems, obviously,
- 14:30Speaker 2: in Russia with what Zelensky's doing, not listening to Trump.
- 14:34Speaker 2: And obviously, you've got big problems in the Middle East
- 14:37Speaker 2: with the destruction Iran's doing with some of the refineries
- 14:42Speaker 2: that are there. So I keep hearing people talk about shortages,
- 14:46Speaker 2: shortages of diesel, shortages of jet fuel, sky-high prices. No
- 14:54Speaker 2: end in sight. And I keep reminding you of that.
- 14:56Speaker 2: No end in sight. So what's the Senate want to do? Well,
- 14:59Speaker 2: they stay in session because they want to build or
- 15:01Speaker 2: regulate money and intercollegiate athletics. Who gives a damn? Can
- 15:11Speaker 2: you imagine that? Who gives a damn? So the article says,
- 15:17Speaker 2: and with the affordability question vexing Republicans, they really don't
- 15:21Speaker 2: want to pass the college sports bill and promptly vacate Washington.
- 15:26Speaker 2: That would be an awkward punctuation point at the end
- 15:28Speaker 2: of the legislative sentence before the midterms. You think? GOPers
- 15:34Speaker 2: wanted something more substantial. Democrats might have presented that opportunity
- 15:41Speaker 2: to Republicans on a planner. Before the House left for
- 15:45Speaker 2: the midterms the week before last, it accentuated its session
- 15:49Speaker 2: by passing the Ratepayer Protection Act. And let me tell you,
- 15:55Speaker 2: not much passes around here with 417 votes. Like their
- 16:00Speaker 2: Senate colleagues, House Republicans also worried about voters doubting their
- 16:05Speaker 2: addressing affordability. So this bill hit the mark for them.
- 16:09Speaker 2: All right. This article says the legislation defrays the cost
- 16:13Speaker 2: rate payers fork out for their utility bills if they're
- 16:17Speaker 2: driven up by data centers.
- 16:20Speaker 8: What?
- 16:21Speaker 2: I said the legislation defrays affordability. The cost rate payers
- 16:26Speaker 2: fork out for their utility bills if they're driven up
- 16:29Speaker 2: by data centers. This forces the tech companies which run
- 16:32Speaker 2: the data centers to foot the bill. It's about damn time.
- 16:38Speaker 2: Senator John Husted. is one of the most vulnerable Republicans
- 16:43Speaker 2: on the ballot this fall. I could have told you that.
- 16:46Speaker 2: Houston's longtime support for data centers is also dragging him
- 16:49Speaker 2: down in the eyes of some voters. Houston tried to
- 16:53Speaker 2: fix that. Let me give you some more of this
- 16:55Speaker 2: and I'll get to more calls. It's stuff I want
- 16:57Speaker 2: you to hear. It's 322 on a Monday afternoon. It's
- 17:00Speaker 2: a gorgeous day in my world, I think. 68 degrees.
- 17:02Speaker 2: I'll be right back. Mike Rowe here with a random fact.
- 17:08Speaker 2: More than half.
- 17:09Speaker 1: 570 WKBN. All right, so listen to this.
- 17:12Speaker 2: Anyway, so this legislation defrays the cost to rate payers,
- 17:17Speaker 2: fork outs for their utility bills if they're driven up
- 17:21Speaker 2: by data centers. This forces a tech company which run
- 17:24Speaker 2: the data centers to foot the bill. It's about damn time.
- 17:27Speaker 2: Senator John Husted here in Ohio is one of the
- 17:30Speaker 2: most vulnerable Republicans on the ballot this fall. His longtime
- 17:34Speaker 2: support for data centers is also dragging him down in
- 17:37Speaker 2: the eyes of some voters. Not me. I support data centers.
- 17:40Speaker 2: Houston tried to fix that. He went to the floor
- 17:43Speaker 2: and asked for the Senate to pass on the spots
- 17:46Speaker 2: the House bill. However, this Democrat Senator Martin Heinrich objected,
- 17:53Speaker 2: blocking the efforts. How dare him? No good. Republicans viewed
- 17:59Speaker 2: that as an opening. Democrats stood in the way of
- 18:01Speaker 2: passing a bill on affordability, which 417 bipartisan House members
- 18:06Speaker 2: supported without blinking. Senate GOPers immediately seized the opportunity as
- 18:10Speaker 2: a wedge against their adversaries, and they interpreted this as
- 18:14Speaker 2: a chance to assist their Ohio colleague. Teledata centers were
- 18:19Speaker 2: happy to have you, but you've got to pay your
- 18:20Speaker 2: own electricity. People are not going to pay for it.
- 18:24Speaker 2: The words of John Kennedy from Louisiana. Republicans are already
- 18:28Speaker 2: leery about the uneven political footing when it comes to AI,
- 18:32Speaker 2: even more so with data centers. Voters are not enamored
- 18:34Speaker 2: with the results of the big, beautiful bill passed last summer.
- 18:38Speaker 2: But dealing with data centers is more immediate and might
- 18:41Speaker 2: resonate with those who soured on the Republican brand. It's
- 18:44Speaker 2: about time these guys did something. Forget the intercollegiate sports.
- 18:49Speaker 2: In Missouri, people are absolutely scared to death that these
- 18:51Speaker 2: data centers are going to take all the prime farm
- 18:54Speaker 2: lands away. And they're going to raise electric bills so
- 18:57Speaker 2: high no one will be able to afford it. As
- 19:00Speaker 2: well as water bills. Don't forget about the water. The
- 19:03Speaker 2: official schedule intended for the Senate's to meet this week.
- 19:06Speaker 2: But once September hits and no government shutdown looms, senators
- 19:09Speaker 2: from both sides, especially those facing challenging elections, wanted to
- 19:13Speaker 2: skip Washington and come back home. Let's see. Senator Houston's
- 19:20Speaker 2: bill is a fraud. It's voluntary. No company has to
- 19:22Speaker 2: do it. The bill we have is mandatory. It is
- 19:25Speaker 2: much stronger and is what is needed. Well, I agree.
- 19:28Speaker 2: It's got to be mandatory. There is something to Schumer's
- 19:31Speaker 2: arguments about how muscular the bill is. The legislation says
- 19:35Speaker 2: public utility regulators must only consider a standard for rate payers.
- 19:40Speaker 2: Nothing is required. Well, then the bill means nothing. Thus,
- 19:44Speaker 2: there's wiggle room for the tech firms. So it's a bill...
- 19:48Speaker 2: That's an illusion. It's got to be mandatory. This can't
- 19:53Speaker 2: be an illusion. What we're saying is that we can
- 19:56Speaker 2: do much better, which I would agree with. As opposed to,
- 20:00Speaker 2: you've got to have a mandatory. But a lot of
- 20:02Speaker 2: Republicans aren't buying what Schumer is saying. The Democrats' objections
- 20:06Speaker 2: are all about three things. Politics, an endangered GOP senator,
- 20:10Speaker 2: and the most expensive Senate contest in the country. And
- 20:14Speaker 2: Democrats are hoping to flip the seats in their favor.
- 20:17Speaker 2: That's right here in Ohio that I'm talking about. So
- 20:20Speaker 2: we shall see. We shall see what happens here. Is
- 20:23Speaker 2: it about time that these people started doing something? You're
- 20:26Speaker 2: on the air.
- 20:28Speaker 11: Hi, this is going a little different direction, but you
- 20:32Speaker 11: have an opinion on Michael Rooley.
- 20:34Speaker 15: Is he a friend of medicine?
- 20:36Speaker 11: Because the same, somewhat of the same things, private practices
- 20:41Speaker 11: are getting hit by Medicare cuts, but we can't pass
- 20:43Speaker 11: on expenses, you know, staff expenses, equipment expenses on to
- 20:48Speaker 11: our customers. You know, should the Ohio State Medical Association
- 20:53Speaker 11: support him?
- 20:56Speaker 2: So you're saying that from a provider standpoint, Medicare, not Medicaid,
- 21:04Speaker 2: or is it both Medicare and Medicaid? I think both, yeah.
- 21:07Speaker 2: But Medicare is the insurance for 65 and older. You're
- 21:11Speaker 2: saying it doesn't pay out enough.
- 21:14Speaker 8: Correct.
- 21:14Speaker 11: And it's getting cut next year. About 3%, 3%, 4% cut,
- 21:18Speaker 11: but expenses go up.
- 21:19Speaker 2: Cut to what, to the doctor?
- 21:21Speaker 10: Correct. the office, yeah.
- 21:29Speaker 2: Well, why are they cutting it?
- 21:33Speaker 11: All their budget things that they come up with, they have,
- 21:35Speaker 11: I guess, a lot of little different ways to factor
- 21:41Speaker 11: in things, and it went up, and then now it's
- 21:44Speaker 11: going down.
- 21:44Speaker 2: Here would be what I would argue with that. Before
- 21:48Speaker 2: we make any cuts in reimbursements to doctors that are
- 21:51Speaker 2: doing the right thing, okay, let's start by finding all
- 21:54Speaker 2: the fraud that is taking place. I mean, that's where
- 21:58Speaker 2: including with doctor's offices that are running tests or doing
- 22:02Speaker 2: things that they shouldn't be doing or billing for things
- 22:04Speaker 2: that they shouldn't be. I would say you have to
- 22:06Speaker 2: start by having an analysis and find all the fraud
- 22:10Speaker 2: and then arrest and prosecute the doctors or the offices
- 22:15Speaker 2: that are engaging in that. And then we can reassess
- 22:18Speaker 2: whether or not there's enough money to that. We have
- 22:20Speaker 2: to make cuts. Don't when you think that would be
- 22:22Speaker 2: how we should do this.
- 22:24Speaker 10: Sure.
- 22:24Speaker 16: Yeah.
- 22:25Speaker 3: Yep.
- 22:25Speaker 10: Agree.
- 22:25Speaker 2: Agree.
- 22:26Speaker 11: Yeah. I just want to make sure he's, you know,
- 22:27Speaker 11: I don't know if you have an opinion, if he
- 22:30Speaker 11: is more on the side of insurance companies and pharmacy.
- 22:34Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 22:35Speaker 2: I have no idea.
- 22:36Speaker 17: News Radio 570 WKVN.
- 22:41Speaker 5: A bipartisan push is underway to ban nondisclosure agreements for
- 22:45Speaker 5: data centers. Ohio Democratic Representative Greg Lansman. In Michigan, Republican
- 22:50Speaker 5: Tom Barrett co-sponsored the No Secrets for Data Centers Act,
- 22:54Speaker 5: forcing all deals involving these facilities.
- 22:56Speaker 2: To be made public.
- 22:58Speaker 5: Several states have NDAs signed with these companies, but if
- 23:01Speaker 5: it becomes law, those are now void. Lansman has also
- 23:04Speaker 5: introduced the No Harm Data Centers Act and the Protecting
- 23:07Speaker 5: Families from AI Data Center Energy Cost Act. Toledo homeless
- 23:11Speaker 5: shelter officials sound the alarm. They're running out of space,
- 23:14Speaker 5: and it's not even winter yet. City zoning laws only
- 23:17Speaker 5: allow overnight sleeping in approved buildings. Over 500 people last
- 23:21Speaker 5: winter needed warming centers just to survive. Toledo City Council
- 23:25Speaker 5: will hear about this issue and possibly create solutions sometime
- 23:29Speaker 5: this week.
- 23:31Speaker 2: I'm Lee Mowan.
- 23:32Speaker 1: Listen on the free iHeartRadio app for all your music, news, talk,
- 23:36Speaker 1: and sports radio.
- 23:37Speaker 4: Podcasts, too.
- 23:38Speaker 2: Download the app.
- 23:40Speaker 1: Free never sounded so good. From the A to Z,
- 23:43Speaker 1: dependables on verb. On NewsRadio 570, WKBN.
- 23:48Speaker 2: All right, NewsRadio 570, WKBN. Ron Verbier on the air.
- 23:51Speaker 18: Hey, Ron, how you doing?
- 23:54Speaker 10: Good, sir.
- 23:55Speaker 2: Go ahead, please.
- 23:56Speaker 12: Hey, back to what you started out talking about, and
- 23:58Speaker 12: I might have missed some of it if you've mentioned.
- 24:00Speaker 19: It, but since 2008, 20 refineries in this country have
- 24:03Speaker 19: shut down. And since, in the last 10 years, I
- 24:12Speaker 19: think it was 13 refineries.
- 24:14Speaker 14: Why?
- 24:14Speaker 10: That can't help.
- 24:15Speaker 14: I don't know, but.
- 24:16Speaker 8: I looked it up.
- 24:18Speaker 12: I've seen a couple of posts on Facebook about it,
- 24:21Speaker 12: and then I wanted to double-check, and, you know, Facebook
- 24:26Speaker 12: isn't always true, you know. So I looked it up
- 24:28Speaker 12: and double-checked. So that'd be something interesting to ask your
- 24:32Speaker 12: smart friends like G3 and stuff.
- 24:34Speaker 10: Why, or G2, why.
- 24:39Speaker 12: These refineries that shut down are probably old, outdated, whatnot,
- 24:42Speaker 12: but why not revamp them, build new ones? I mean,
- 24:45Speaker 12: it's probably EPA, Billy B.S. that the Democrats pushed in
- 24:51Speaker 12: these blue states, but I'm curious to know why 20
- 24:55Speaker 12: refineries have been shut down in the last 15 years.
- 25:05Speaker 2: In the United States. Now, let me go over here.
- 25:07Speaker 2: When was the last refinery built in the United States?
- 25:11Speaker 2: Did it to... 75.
- 25:13Speaker 12: Or something like that.
- 25:17Speaker 2: Existing refineries have added capacity through upgrades and new constructions.
- 25:23Speaker 2: So they say they've added capacity, but they're not new places. However,
- 25:28Speaker 2: the newest refinery with significant downstream unit capacity is Marathon's
- 25:33Speaker 2: facility in Louisiana. That facility came online in 1977. Think
- 25:41Speaker 2: of that.
- 25:41Speaker 20: Right.
- 25:42Speaker 2: I mean, there's your problem. Don't you think, though, in
- 25:46Speaker 2: all reality, if we're running our refineries at 98% capacity,
- 25:49Speaker 2: don't you think we should have a public refinery private
- 25:52Speaker 2: partnership to work around the clock to build additional refineries?
- 25:58Speaker 12: Yeah, yes, yes, I do.
- 26:02Speaker 21: The point is 20 of them have shut down. So
- 26:05Speaker 21: if they would have revamped them and got them operating
- 26:09Speaker 21: better and more efficiently, we'd be golden as far as.
- 26:15Speaker 12: The capacity here in the United States.
- 26:18Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know why they shut down. That's a
- 26:20Speaker 2: good question. I mean, I don't know if they– I
- 26:24Speaker 2: did learn something, though, just in talking to you. So
- 26:26Speaker 2: some of the existing refineries have been added on to.
- 26:29Speaker 2: But as I said, you were still at 98% refining
- 26:33Speaker 2: capacity in the United States. Did you know this? I
- 26:36Speaker 2: got a little trivia for you. Do you know the
- 26:38Speaker 2: only country that has a 30% cushion on refining capabilities
- 26:42Speaker 2: is China? It's China. So they have so many refineries,
- 26:48Speaker 2: they've got a 30% cushion. In other words, they're not
- 26:51Speaker 2: running at capacity.
- 26:51Speaker 12: They build new power plants left and right, new nuke plants,
- 26:54Speaker 12: new coal plants. They just build whatever they want over
- 26:57Speaker 12: there because.
- 26:57Speaker 10: The EPA hounds them over regulations.
- 27:03Speaker 2: Yeah, so we're our own worst enemy. Wouldn't you agree
- 27:06Speaker 2: with that? I mean, if China's doing all of that
- 27:08Speaker 2: kind of stuff and we're not, where do you think
- 27:12Speaker 2: if we're at capacity or there's a problem, where do
- 27:14Speaker 2: you think a lot of fuel is going to get
- 27:15Speaker 2: refined at? Communist China, wouldn't you think?
- 27:19Speaker 13: Yes, sir.
- 27:20Speaker 2: I mean, this is ridiculous to me, this whole scenario.
- 27:24Speaker 2: So here's my other question to you. If Zelensky doesn't
- 27:28Speaker 2: listen to President Trump when he says don't blow up
- 27:31Speaker 2: the refineries in Russia, and he does it anyway, then
- 27:34Speaker 2: who is Zelensky listening to?
- 27:38Speaker 12: He's on his own program doing whatever the hell he
- 27:42Speaker 12: wants to do on the daily.
- 27:44Speaker 2: I find that hard to believe, though. I really find
- 27:47Speaker 2: it hard to believe. I just don't think that that's
- 27:51Speaker 2: what he's all about. Somebody's orchestrating this. And you know
- 27:55Speaker 2: as well as I do, the United States is telling
- 27:59Speaker 2: him a lot of what to do. It's our intelligence
- 28:01Speaker 2: and that kind of stuff. We're as thick as thieves
- 28:04Speaker 2: with Ukraine.
- 28:05Speaker 12: But if we're telling him what to do, why didn't
- 28:06Speaker 12: he listen when he said, hey, leave the refineries alone?
- 28:10Speaker 2: Well, that's a good question.
- 28:12Speaker 14: I mean, so.
- 28:14Speaker 2: He didn't listen to President Trump. So would this be
- 28:17Speaker 2: a conflict between, let's say, the intelligence community and President Trump,
- 28:22Speaker 2: that he's listening to an intelligence community that doesn't support
- 28:26Speaker 2: the president? I don't know. I'm asking questions. I don't know.
- 28:29Speaker 18: Far above my pay grade, sir.
- 28:31Speaker 2: All right. You sound like an intelligent man. I thought
- 28:33Speaker 2: you would have the answers.
- 28:34Speaker 8: One more thing I wanted to mention to you.
- 28:36Speaker 12: I listened to your show the other day with the—
- 28:40Speaker 12: The 100th anniversary show?
- 28:41Speaker 8: Yes.
- 28:41Speaker 12: That was very, very entertaining and informative, and I really
- 28:46Speaker 12: enjoyed listening to the entire show. Great job.
- 28:49Speaker 2: I appreciate it. I really appreciate it. Thank you for
- 28:52Speaker 2: listening to it. Appreciate you. All right. Isn't that an
- 28:57Speaker 2: enjoyable celebration, to say the least? Something strange is going
- 29:02Speaker 2: on in this situation. That's all I'm saying. Something just
- 29:07Speaker 2: doesn't add up. Zelensky's not listening to Trump, so who's
- 29:13Speaker 2: he listening to? Because he knows what he did is
- 29:20Speaker 2: creating a worldwide shortage in economic situation when it comes
- 29:27Speaker 2: to diesel. And obviously you know that Iran is going
- 29:34Speaker 2: to use, that it's going to blow up some of
- 29:36Speaker 2: these refineries in the Middle East. because they want oil
- 29:41Speaker 2: prices to go up here in the United States. So
- 29:46Speaker 2: they want to sock it to us economically. And their
- 29:49Speaker 2: goal is obviously they want to rattle you for the
- 29:53Speaker 2: midterms so that you vote for these crazies, the Democrats, Socialists,
- 29:58Speaker 2: and the Democrats. And they're just crazy. They're absolutely crazy.
- 30:05Speaker 2: And Ted the Conservative is absolutely right when he says,
- 30:09Speaker 2: how could you vote for a Democrat? Because they are
- 30:11Speaker 2: part of that crazy agenda. And it is nuts. And
- 30:16Speaker 2: you think I want to go back to that agenda?
- 30:18Speaker 2: Absolutely not. Because we know they hate fossil fuels. We
- 30:26Speaker 2: know where they stand. They hate fossil fuels. We know it.
- 30:30Speaker 2: They want to regulate them right out of business. Hell,
- 30:32Speaker 2: Biden said it himself. And take a look at what
- 30:35Speaker 2: they did to our coal-fired electric plants in Ohio. And
- 30:41Speaker 2: I realize as pissed as you can be, and I
- 30:43Speaker 2: understand the affordability issue, as troubling as it can be
- 30:47Speaker 2: for all of us, to vote against the Republicans is
- 30:54Speaker 2: a major mistake because you're just voting for the crazies,
- 30:58Speaker 2: as Bill Maher says. And I totally agree with it.
- 31:00Speaker 2: You're just voting for the crazies if you vote for
- 31:03Speaker 2: the Democrats.
- 31:04Speaker 20: Yes.
- 31:07Speaker 2: Because it's just a bad agenda. And absolutely bad. You
- 31:11Speaker 2: get the wackos. And that's what's left in a Democrat party.
- 31:14Speaker 2: You're on air.
- 31:16Speaker 14: I'll tell you one thing Trump was right about. What
- 31:21Speaker 14: was his name? The guy with the chainsaw. I can't
- 31:24Speaker 14: think of his name right now. The Tesla guy.
- 31:25Speaker 2: Elon Musk.
- 31:27Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 31:28Speaker 14: Back then, they said, well, you're going to have to suffer.
- 31:31Speaker 14: So evidently, he was right on that.
- 31:35Speaker 2: You mean who's going to suffer? You mean us?
- 31:37Speaker 4: We are.
- 31:38Speaker 14: Because with our policies, well, they're going to have to
- 31:40Speaker 14: suffer for a while. And so we're really suffering.
- 31:43Speaker 2: Well, you're damn right, as far as Iran is concerned.
- 31:46Speaker 14: Well, they were right, though, right? They were right. They
- 31:48Speaker 14: said you're going to suffer.
- 31:49Speaker 2: That's right. You're suffering.
- 31:51Speaker 13: Well, how do you like it?
- 31:52Speaker 14: How do you like it, big boy?
- 31:54Speaker 2: Well, as far as I'm concerned, I don't agree with
- 31:56Speaker 2: Trump on the war. Now, I always put the comma
- 31:58Speaker 2: in there just as a side note, folks, and I
- 32:00Speaker 2: always say this with that being said. I don't have all– obviously,
- 32:03Speaker 2: I don't have the information that Rubio and Trump have
- 32:06Speaker 2: about this situation. You've got to acknowledge that. We can
- 32:09Speaker 2: all have opinions. I don't have the– nor do any
- 32:12Speaker 2: of you have any of the inside information. I personally
- 32:14Speaker 2: thought the bunker buster probably was very effective when it
- 32:18Speaker 2: comes to Iran. I don't know what information, nor do
- 32:22Speaker 2: you know what they've had that caused Trump to say–
- 32:26Speaker 2: I'm going to take this on and do this anyway,
- 32:28Speaker 2: because let me tell you a true story. This guy
- 32:31Speaker 2: brings up an interesting point. Joe Biden was against when
- 32:35Speaker 2: Osama bin Laden was taken out by Obama. Joe Biden
- 32:40Speaker 2: said to Obama, do not do it. I wouldn't do it.
- 32:43Speaker 2: He was against it because it could, if it didn't
- 32:46Speaker 2: go well, it would destroy his presidency. This was Joe
- 32:49Speaker 2: Biden talking to Obama. And Obama said, I'm going to
- 32:53Speaker 2: do it anyway because this is more important than my reelection. Well,
- 32:57Speaker 2: some people say that the same thing is applying here today.
- 33:02Speaker 2: that Trump says, I understand that this is going to
- 33:06Speaker 2: cause some pain at the pump. It might even cost
- 33:09Speaker 2: me the midterms. But this is more important than anything
- 33:12Speaker 2: as far as his opinion. So I don't know. Is
- 33:15Speaker 2: it one of those situations? It could be. I mean,
- 33:17Speaker 2: my initial thought, which I'd say this caller is, I'm
- 33:20Speaker 2: opposed to this. I think it's only opinion. He was
- 33:23Speaker 2: swayed into it by Israel. And I just think it
- 33:29Speaker 2: was a major mistake. But I don't know everything they know.
- 33:32Speaker 14: And then he represented the United States. He's in such
- 33:36Speaker 14: a corner, he just cannot get out. And they can't
- 33:38Speaker 14: figure out how to get out.
- 33:39Speaker 2: I agree with that. That would also be my opinion.
- 33:43Speaker 2: But there is that possibility that they know something we
- 33:48Speaker 2: don't know.
- 33:48Speaker 11: So let's suffer together.
- 33:51Speaker 2: Well, there is a cost to be paid for it.
- 33:54Speaker 2: You know, you can say let's suffer together. We are suffering.
- 33:57Speaker 2: There's no doubt about it. But you always got to
- 34:00Speaker 2: put that comment in there. He might know something we
- 34:02Speaker 2: don't know. So in general, though, when you say suffer together,
- 34:08Speaker 2: you certainly wouldn't be better off with the Democrats in
- 34:10Speaker 2: charge of anything. They hate fossil fuels. They hate drilling.
- 34:15Speaker 2: They hate fossil fuels. And they make it. There's no
- 34:21Speaker 2: doubt they speak it. You're on the air.
- 34:25Speaker 3: Hello.
- 34:27Speaker 14: Hello. Yes, go ahead. Yes.
- 34:30Speaker 22: So, you know, I was thinking about this. Like, it
- 34:34Speaker 22: appears somebody is giving Zelensky both money and.
- 34:37Speaker 8: Direction as to what to do in the Ukraine.
- 34:41Speaker 18: Yes.
- 34:41Speaker 22: So I'm wondering who's giving money to.
- 34:44Speaker 10: Iran, Iraq, to not make peace.
- 34:48Speaker 2: You mean Iran?
- 34:49Speaker 3: I think.
- 34:50Speaker 8: Yes, right.
- 34:51Speaker 14: I mean, I always confuse the two of them.
- 34:54Speaker 18: Sorry about that.
- 34:54Speaker 2: No problem.
- 34:55Speaker 22: But, yeah, it's like there's no reason they shouldn't have
- 34:59Speaker 22: made peace. We're blowing the heck out of them. I
- 35:01Speaker 22: think somebody, George Soros maybe, is saying don't make peace
- 35:05Speaker 22: until after the midterms and is throwing lots of money
- 35:08Speaker 22: at their leadership because why else wouldn't they?
- 35:13Speaker 2: Well, let me lay this theory on you. Why wouldn't they?
- 35:16Speaker 2: Because I say all Iran has to do is survive.
- 35:21Speaker 2: I say it again. That's all they have to do
- 35:23Speaker 2: to win is simply survive. And I think that's what
- 35:28Speaker 2: their goal is. And I think their philosophy is let's
- 35:33Speaker 2: survive and cause the United States pain and see if
- 35:37Speaker 2: we can screw the midterms up. by getting Democrats elected,
- 35:40Speaker 2: and then we'll win because the Democrats will be, I
- 35:46Speaker 2: don't know, pansies about it, I suppose, is how they think.
- 35:50Speaker 2: I think that might be their strategy. I agree with that.
- 35:54Speaker 22: But I also think that the same people that funded
- 35:56Speaker 22: Antifa and funded Black Lives Matter and funded Ukraine are saying,
- 36:02Speaker 22: how can we hurt Trump? Let's keep the war going
- 36:04Speaker 22: until after the midterm.
- 36:06Speaker 2: You could be right.
- 36:06Speaker 8: The economy's stupid.
- 36:08Speaker 11: Yep.
- 36:08Speaker 2: You could be 100% right. I'm with you. All right.
- 36:11Speaker 2: Excellent observation. Thank you. You're on the air.
- 36:15Speaker 10: I think he nailed it. That's what's happening. I think
- 36:18Speaker 10: he nailed it.
- 36:20Speaker 12: Really?
- 36:21Speaker 14: Oh, yeah.
- 36:22Speaker 10: I think so. And listen, by the way, Trump just
- 36:25Speaker 10: announced this company coming in, investing $ 18 trillion in Iowa.
- 36:35Speaker 10: To build the largest steel mill in the world. And
- 36:38Speaker 10: using the iron ore from Minnesota. He just announced it.
- 36:41Speaker 8: How about that?
- 36:42Speaker 2: I think it's great. I mean, I hear these announcements.
- 36:45Speaker 2: I just want to see them materialize.
- 36:47Speaker 10: Well, it takes time to build a steel plant, Rob.
- 36:50Speaker 10: But I tell you what.
- 36:51Speaker 2: Listen, I know it takes time. I'll give them to
- 36:53Speaker 2: the end of next month.
- 36:56Speaker 7: Yeah, right.
- 36:56Speaker 10: Listen, I'm upset because nobody's focusing on the Mahoney Valley.
- 37:01Speaker 10: And in western Pennsylvania, we were the best steel makers
- 37:07Speaker 10: in the world here.
- 37:08Speaker 8: We built the best steel in the world here.
- 37:12Speaker 2: Well, that's true.
- 37:13Speaker 10: I don't understand why politicians don't tell Trump, hey, come
- 37:18Speaker 10: over here and bring 18 trillion over here. You know
- 37:21Speaker 10: what that would do to this area, Ron?
- 37:26Speaker 2: Well, yeah, but, I mean, the area's doing pretty good.
- 37:29Speaker 2: I mean, when you.
- 37:29Speaker 10: No, no, no, listen, listen.
- 37:31Speaker 2: What do you mean, no?
- 37:32Speaker 10: Listen to me.
- 37:34Speaker 2: I'm listening.
- 37:35Speaker 10: Listen to me. Listen, I'm talking, you're listening on WKVN.
- 37:38Speaker 2: All right, I'm doing it.
- 37:39Speaker 10: All right. I have been excited about this AI. If
- 37:44Speaker 10: it's done properly, like you and I both agree, I
- 37:47Speaker 10: agree with you and you agree with me. You know,
- 37:49Speaker 10: certain things have to be done, okay?
- 37:51Speaker 13: Okay.
- 37:52Speaker 10: But the bottom line is, even if that all was
- 37:55Speaker 10: taken care of, we live in the most negative valley
- 37:59Speaker 10: in all of America because people still don't want it.
- 38:02Speaker 10: It doesn't matter. Ron, I handed all the objections. I
- 38:07Speaker 10: talked to the mayor on Sunday. He came to our church.
- 38:11Speaker 10: I talked to him, and it sounded like he was
- 38:12Speaker 10: getting bombarded with negative, like you're going to destroy our city.
- 38:16Speaker 8: No, no, no, no.
- 38:17Speaker 10: We're going to figure out a spot. We're going to
- 38:19Speaker 10: build it. They're going to create their own power. They're
- 38:22Speaker 10: going to clean the water. No, he doesn't say all that.
- 38:25Speaker 10: He just bows to the negative people of the Valley.
- 38:28Speaker 10: You know, because you need city council and you.
- 38:33Speaker 3: Need the commissioners.
- 38:35Speaker 10: You need a team of people working with you. And
- 38:37Speaker 10: he doesn't have it. And nobody wants it.
- 38:39Speaker 8: Nobody wants it.
- 38:40Speaker 10: But here's the thing. They're going to raise your taxes
- 38:43Speaker 10: on water.
- 38:44Speaker 14: That's right.
- 38:45Speaker 10: Your water bill is going to.
- 38:46Speaker 11: Go up, Ron.
- 38:47Speaker 2: Well, yeah, but when they said about that, it's not
- 38:50Speaker 2: going to go up very much. I don't care.
- 38:54Speaker 10: More tax, it never goes down.
- 38:55Speaker 2: Well, wait a minute here. Just sit tight for a second.
- 38:59Speaker 2: If you heard what the MVSD said, they had had
- 39:02Speaker 2: an increase for quite some time, and their expenses have
- 39:04Speaker 2: gone up. Their maintenance, their expenses have gone up, and
- 39:09Speaker 2: it's a moderate increase based on your water usage. So
- 39:13Speaker 2: they can't sit stagnant and absorb all of the inflation
- 39:17Speaker 2: around them. No, no, I agree. So you're making it
- 39:23Speaker 2: into something it's not. I mean, I thought the MVSD
- 39:26Speaker 2: had a pretty sound argument as to why they need
- 39:29Speaker 2: to increase shortfall. water rates based on inflation. What I'm
- 39:33Speaker 2: saying to you is I'm with you in a sense
- 39:36Speaker 2: of I think these people that are putting moratoriums on
- 39:40Speaker 2: data centers, it's ridiculous. As I've said a million times,
- 39:44Speaker 2: I want them, bring them. They can offset your rates.
- 39:50Speaker 10: On brownfield and mcdonald you know where the steel mills
- 39:53Speaker 10: used to be and they got a problem with.
- 39:55Speaker 2: That yeah the only thing i say is once again
- 39:59Speaker 2: you have to show that you can provide your own
- 40:01Speaker 2: power so it doesn't cost us more money for electricity
- 40:05Speaker 2: and you and you have to show us how much
- 40:08Speaker 2: water you're going to use and how you're going to
- 40:10Speaker 2: treat it so we know that it's safe On its return.
- 40:14Speaker 2: And zero any tax abatement at all. There will be
- 40:19Speaker 2: no tax abatements. We've got the perfect weather. We've got
- 40:21Speaker 2: the perfect infrastructure. We've got the great transmission lines here.
- 40:25Speaker 2: This is the sweet spot. We don't have to kiss
- 40:27Speaker 2: their arse. So you and I agree. We don't disagree.
- 40:31Speaker 8: We agree.
- 40:33Speaker 10: I'm just letting you know that the people in this
- 40:36Speaker 10: valley are so negative, they're not going to let it happen,
- 40:39Speaker 10: and then we're going to keep on getting tax increases.
- 40:42Speaker 2: I think you might be right. I think you're right.
- 40:46Speaker 2: I thought I'd never utter those words. All right, back
- 40:48Speaker 2: with more calls in a minute.
- 40:54Speaker 4: You don't pay for iHeartRadio. Our advertisers do.

- 41:09Speaker 1: News, weather, and talk station. 570 WKBN.
- 41:14Speaker 2: Laid back Monday afternoon. News, radio, 570 WKBN. 67 degrees, overcast,
- 41:18Speaker 2: but a pleasant day. My kind of weather. I like
- 41:21Speaker 2: it here in my neck of the woods. You're on
- 41:22Speaker 2: the air. Hello? Give you a shot here before I
- 41:30Speaker 2: move on. All right. You're not there. Back with more
- 41:35Speaker 2: in a bit on NewsRadio 570 WKBN and Ron Furb.
- 41:37Speaker 2: A couple of things that I want to remind you
- 41:40Speaker 2: about coming up. Tonight at 6 o'clock, we'll talk with
- 41:44Speaker 2: the guys from Rockport's Truth in Investing show, Rockport Wealth Advisors.
- 41:48Speaker 2: That's tonight from 6 to 7 on NewsRadio 570 WKBN
- 41:52Speaker 2: with Joe Kovach and Adam Stalnaker. They'll be giving you
- 41:55Speaker 2: some financial insight, if you will. That'll be tonight from
- 42:01Speaker 2: 6 to 7. And how about when Dick was talking, incidentally,
- 42:05Speaker 2: about the Guardians? And I don't know what the schedule
- 42:07Speaker 2: is on them, but at least we're in the playoffs.
- 42:10Speaker 2: All right? So that's the good news as far as
- 42:12Speaker 2: that is concerned. So keep that in mind. All right?
- 42:15Speaker 2: Let me see. Where should I go? Let me just
- 42:18Speaker 2: go to the top of the phone bank and work
- 42:20Speaker 2: down because I lost my way. You're on air.
- 42:23Speaker 18: Hey, how are you doing there, Ron?
- 42:24Speaker 14: Good, sir.
- 42:25Speaker 2: Good. Go ahead.
- 42:27Speaker 16: Hey, great show as always. I just wanted to make
- 42:30Speaker 16: a comment. You know, some of these people that call
- 42:32Speaker 16: into your show that seem to be, you know, so negative.
- 42:36Speaker 16: I mean, they're always the same people. And they seem
- 42:38Speaker 16: to be, no matter how good, there's a lot of
- 42:43Speaker 16: things going on out there in the country. Of course,
- 42:44Speaker 16: the media doesn't present it. It doesn't put it in
- 42:46Speaker 16: the news. There's so much good that's going on that
- 42:49Speaker 16: has happened. But they seem almost overjoyed. When there's something
- 42:55Speaker 16: against Trump, and especially with these elections coming up, and
- 42:59Speaker 16: you hit it right on the head earlier when you said,
- 43:02Speaker 16: you know, if you're talking about worrying about paying a
- 43:04Speaker 16: buck more or something for gas right now, how much
- 43:07Speaker 16: worse would it have been had Paris got in, or
- 43:11Speaker 16: how much worse is it going to be if the
- 43:13Speaker 16: Democrats take control? They're going to do nothing but destroy
- 43:16Speaker 16: this country, and they, as much as said it, I
- 43:19Speaker 16: don't understand what is wrong with people. I think somebody said,
- 43:23Speaker 16: do you hate Trump more than you love your country
- 43:27Speaker 16: or your family or your livelihood? These people are absolutely crazy.
- 43:32Speaker 16: And I think the people that vote for them are crazy.
- 43:34Speaker 16: I can disagree to disagree with people. We can disagree
- 43:37Speaker 16: on policies and things like that. But these people are
- 43:41Speaker 16: off their rockers if they think the Democrats get control,
- 43:43Speaker 16: that somehow that's going to be great for this country
- 43:46Speaker 16: and or for this world, per se.
- 43:49Speaker 2: I'm with you. I'm with you 100%. As much as
- 43:52Speaker 2: I bellyache and might disagree with the situation in Iran,
- 43:55Speaker 2: I will not, under no circumstances, vote for Sherrod Brown. Period. Ever.
- 44:00Speaker 18: That's a great one.
- 44:01Speaker 14: All right. Thank you very much.
- 44:02Speaker 2: Thank you. Callers on the line, stand by. Back with more.
- 44:05Speaker 2: A couple hours to go.
- 44:08Speaker 1: 100 years as the Valley's trusted news, weather, and talk station.
- 44:13Speaker 1: 570 WKBN.
- 44:15Speaker 4: Youngstown.
- 44:22Speaker 23: An upbeat assessment from the commander-in-chief, Elisa Brady, Fox News.
- 44:27Speaker 15: President Trump says U.S.
- 44:28Speaker 23: Officials have spoken to Iran through mediators today after he
- 44:32Speaker 23: rejected the latest Iranian ceasefire proposal.
- 44:35Speaker 2: We're going to win.
- 44:35Speaker 20: As far as I'm concerned, it's going to be one
- 44:38Speaker 20: way or the other.
- 44:38Speaker 2: It's going to go pretty quickly.
- 44:41Speaker 23: Also saying that when it's over, gas prices will come
- 44:44Speaker 23: tumbling down. Iran's most recent proposal had a number of conditions,
- 44:48Speaker 23: including ending a U.S.
- 44:50Speaker 15: Blockade of Iranian ports.
- 44:52Speaker 23: The president also telling reporters he was surprised that five
- 44:55Speaker 23: terror suspects arrested yesterday in England have been released on bail.
- 45:00Speaker 23: The men, all UK nationals, were arrested on suspicion of
- 45:03Speaker 23: terrorism and explosives offenses near an airbase used by the U.S.
- 45:08Speaker 17: And England.
- 45:08Speaker 15: Counterterrorism officials leading that investigation.
- 45:11Speaker 24: They are considering every possible angle. This includes if there
- 45:15Speaker 24: are links to Iran as the base is used by
- 45:17Speaker 24: the U.S. Air Force in its campaign against Iran. Well,
- 45:20Speaker 24: counterterror police said, quote, that this may be activity committed
- 45:24Speaker 24: by proxies or individuals either knowingly or unknowingly working on
- 45:28Speaker 24: behalf of a foreign state.
- 45:30Speaker 23: Fox's Stephanie Bennett, Iran has said bases used to attack
- 45:34Speaker 23: it are legitimate targets, but the Iranian embassy in London
- 45:37Speaker 23: is condemning any claims of possible involvement. President Trump taking
- 45:41Speaker 23: questions during an announcement about a $ 15 billion investment planned
- 45:45Speaker 23: by Masabi Metallics to build the largest ever U.S.
- 45:49Speaker 15: Steel plant.
- 45:50Speaker 20: The project is expected to create up to 6,000 new
- 45:54Speaker 20: construction jobs, nearly 2,000 manufacturing and mining jobs, and add
- 46:00Speaker 20: another $ 95 billion to the U.S.
- 46:03Speaker 2: Economy.
- 46:04Speaker 23: Among those joining him in the Oval Office, Republican Ashley
- 46:06Speaker 23: Hinson is in a closely watched Senate race against Democrat
- 46:09Speaker 23: Josh Turek, with polls showing a tight race. Stocks finished
- 46:13Speaker 23: lower of the Dow, down 346 at the bell.
- 46:16Speaker 15: America is listening to Fox News.
- 46:21Speaker 25: History isn't just in textbooks. It's the story of us.

- 46:40Speaker 25: and decisions that change the world. The 250 most impactful
- 46:44Speaker 25: moments in American history podcast.

- 46:53Speaker 4: might be taking the quiz.
- 46:55Speaker 12: Hi, everyone.
- 46:56Speaker 4: It's Candace Cameron-Buray. Hey, everyone. It's Phil Simms. It's Dolores Catania.
- 47:01Speaker 2: Hey, everyone.
- 47:01Speaker 4: I'm Kix Brooks. It's Candace Bushnell. I'm Rob Paulson.
- 47:05Speaker 2: I'm Ryan Serhant.
- 47:06Speaker 11: Hey, everyone.
- 47:07Speaker 4: I'm Nicole Palizzi.
- 47:07Speaker 2: Hey, everybody.
- 47:08Speaker 4: It's Kevin Nealon. What's up, guys? It's Nia Su, and
- 47:10Speaker 4: it's time to take the quiz.
- 47:12Speaker 26: Five questions in less than five minutes every day. Listen
- 47:16Speaker 26: and follow at thequiz.fox. From the A to Z dependable services. Now,
- 47:23Speaker 26: Ron Verb. On News Radio 570, WKBN.
- 47:28Speaker 2: Back to the phone lines momentarily. But how does this
- 47:30Speaker 2: make a lick of sense to anybody, incidentally? Now, this
- 47:34Speaker 2: is obviously out of London. Police have arrested five British nationals.
- 47:37Speaker 2: You just heard on the newscast, right? In conjunction with
- 47:40Speaker 2: a massive security operation near a base used by U.S.
- 47:45Speaker 2: Air Force to facilitate strikes in Iran. The counterterrorism officials
- 47:50Speaker 2: running the operation said Monday, the five men, all from
- 47:53Speaker 2: London and in their early to mid-20s, were arrested Sunday
- 47:57Speaker 2: on suspicion of terrorism and explosive offenses after three suspect
- 48:02Speaker 2: vehicles were seen moving toward RAF Fairford, a Royal Air
- 48:07Speaker 2: Force station, about 90 minutes west of London. Dozens of
- 48:13Speaker 2: homes were evacuated in the early morning and a large
- 48:16Speaker 2: emergency presence was was seen around the installation, shaking the
- 48:21Speaker 2: normally quiet area. But after extensive interviews and inquiries, the
- 48:25Speaker 2: head of the counterterrorism policing, Lawrence Taylor, said Monday that
- 48:30Speaker 2: they had been released on bail. Adding, that does not
- 48:36Speaker 2: mean the investigation is over. So, I'm listening to this
- 48:39Speaker 2: in a story at 4 o'clock, so you have these
- 48:43Speaker 2: terrorism suspects and you release them on bail? How does
- 48:47Speaker 2: that make a lick of sense? Oh, they say, but
- 48:49Speaker 2: they're subject to stringent conditions on their movements and contact
- 48:53Speaker 2: with others. Oh, that's good to know. Earlier, a local
- 48:58Speaker 2: farmer recounted how she had seen a large group of
- 49:00Speaker 2: hooded and masked men early Sunday. When they saw me,
- 49:04Speaker 2: they ran ahead of me, some into the field and
- 49:07Speaker 2: some towards the neighboring villages. The farmer speaking told BBC
- 49:13Speaker 2: News on Monday, I then realized that something highly unusual
- 49:16Speaker 2: was taking place. Ask if British authorities knew of the threat.
- 49:20Speaker 2: ahead of time or only became aware after being called
- 49:23Speaker 2: by a concerned farmer as has been reported the defense
- 49:27Speaker 2: minister told broadcast Sky News on Monday that the member
- 49:31Speaker 2: of the public did the right thing and acted quickly
- 49:35Speaker 2: so I would take that as that's how they figured
- 49:37Speaker 2: it out The Prime Minister said he would chair a
- 49:40Speaker 2: meeting of government's emergency committees later Monday to make sure
- 49:44Speaker 2: we have the full picture. A grainy image has also
- 49:52Speaker 2: emerged appearing to show the suspects. The photo, which began
- 49:55Speaker 2: circulation on social media Sunday morning, shows the five men
- 49:59Speaker 2: sitting on the ground shirtless and apparently handcuffed. They are
- 50:02Speaker 2: flanked by armed officers. The image was geolocated to near
- 50:07Speaker 2: RAF Fairford by NBC News. NBC News could not locate
- 50:11Speaker 2: the original source of the photo. Another image showing three
- 50:14Speaker 2: white vans near the airbase is also circulated online. Fuel2U,
- 50:24Speaker 2: a UK fuel delivery company, said in a statement that
- 50:27Speaker 2: a version of its logo appeared on one of the vehicles,
- 50:30Speaker 2: adding that neither the vehicle nor any of the individuals
- 50:33Speaker 2: involved has any connection to it. We're extremely concerned that
- 50:36Speaker 2: our company's name has been used without our knowledge or permission.
- 50:40Speaker 2: After the operation prompted questions about the possible link to Iran,
- 50:44Speaker 2: the country's embassy in London denied the country was involved.
- 50:48Speaker 2: Of course, what do you expect them to confess? The
- 50:51Speaker 2: embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in London categorically
- 50:57Speaker 2: rejects and strong condemns the recent unfounded allegations, of course.
- 51:02Speaker 2: So let's see. But how do you release those guys
- 51:05Speaker 2: on bail? This is weird. But it's the UK. You're
- 51:10Speaker 2: on the air.
- 51:12Speaker 7: Morning.
- 51:13Speaker 2: Yes. Unknown caller.
- 51:15Speaker 9: Yeah. Hey, yeah, first of all, the Brownies, if you
- 51:19Speaker 9: would have told me they would have been 2-1 at
- 51:22Speaker 9: this point in the season, I would have laughed at you.
- 51:26Speaker 2: Well, I don't think anybody knows for sure, but it
- 51:29Speaker 2: was a hell of a game, but it wasn't over
- 51:32Speaker 2: until it was over. I mean, you've got to admit.
- 51:35Speaker 18: Very exciting.
- 51:36Speaker 2: Very exciting. Yeah.
- 51:38Speaker 9: And the Guardians clinched it. Yeah, that's good. I called
- 51:44Speaker 9: about the oil stuff, but, yeah, the terrorists in London,
- 51:49Speaker 9: they said they were citizens or, you know, what nationality
- 51:57Speaker 9: are they?
- 51:59Speaker 2: Didn't it say that they were– Let's see. What did
- 52:03Speaker 2: it say? It said here at the beginning, I thought.
- 52:08Speaker 2: What did it say here? Police have arrested five British nationals. Well,
- 52:11Speaker 2: that's all it says. That doesn't really let me know. Right.
- 52:18Speaker 9: I mean, them countries have been taken over for years already.
- 52:22Speaker 2: Yeah, but I mean, wouldn't you want to ask the
- 52:24Speaker 2: question as to what you're telling me? These are terrorist
- 52:27Speaker 2: suspects and you released them on bail. Does that make
- 52:30Speaker 2: sense to anybody listening?
- 52:33Speaker 14: Right, exactly.
- 52:34Speaker 9: That's some crazy....
- 52:38Speaker 2: Left-wing loons in the UK. I mean, it's insanity.
- 52:43Speaker 10: Yeah, yeah.
- 52:44Speaker 9: And it's coming here if we're not careful.
- 52:46Speaker 2: Well, see, that's the point. That's why I keep saying
- 52:49Speaker 2: the same thing, to say, hey, listen, as pissed as
- 52:52Speaker 2: I can get at Trump over the Iran situation or
- 52:55Speaker 2: when he says some stupid stuff about the Kennedy Center
- 52:58Speaker 2: or the Iran situation or whatever... He's done more good
- 53:02Speaker 2: than bad by far. I mean, he's been an effective president.
- 53:06Speaker 2: And does anybody think that the answer would be voting
- 53:10Speaker 2: for any of these Democrats that are just absolute lunatics?
- 53:15Speaker 2: As Bill Maher says, why would I vote for crazy?
- 53:18Speaker 2: And that's Bill Maher saying it.
- 53:21Speaker 18: Yeah, exactly.
- 53:23Speaker 9: And how about the fake news being banned? And then
- 53:27Speaker 9: they got back into the White House, but then they
- 53:29Speaker 9: weren't allowed on Air Force One.
- 53:33Speaker 2: He just thinks that they got such a bias against him.
- 53:37Speaker 2: What's the point?
- 53:39Speaker 25: Right, right.
- 53:42Speaker 2: I mean, just be fair, I think, is what he's
- 53:45Speaker 2: trying to say, hopefully.
- 53:48Speaker 9: Honestly, one of the greatest accomplishments that Trump has done
- 53:52Speaker 9: has exposed the bias in the media and the Democratic
- 53:58Speaker 9: control over the media.
- 54:00Speaker 11: Yep.
- 54:02Speaker 9: I mean, just the spin, like, you know, what's his name? Bill,
- 54:05Speaker 9: you say, no spinzo.
- 54:07Speaker 2: Right, Bill O'Reilly.
- 54:09Speaker 9: Yeah, Bill O'Reilly, yeah. But I heard recently that I
- 54:16Speaker 9: think it's around 40 refineries used to be in California,
- 54:23Speaker 9: and they're, like, down below 10 now. And because of, basically,
- 54:28Speaker 9: the crazy over-regulation in California. And, yeah, if you want California,
- 54:35Speaker 9: you know, to spread over the United States, vote Democrat.
- 54:39Speaker 9: They're crazy out there, and they'll ruin the United States
- 54:43Speaker 9: just like they did California.
- 54:46Speaker 2: Yeah, but I mean, is that what you want? I mean,
- 54:49Speaker 2: you know, like this idea, hey, John Husted is not
- 54:53Speaker 2: the perfect candidate. And I don't think anybody can say, boy,
- 54:55Speaker 2: I'm enthusiastically looking forward to voting for John Husted. You're
- 54:59Speaker 2: really voting for the Republican philosophy over the Democrat philosophy.
- 55:03Speaker 2: Does anybody think that the Democrat philosophy is actually a
- 55:06Speaker 2: good choice? You know where they are on all the
- 55:08Speaker 2: social issues. You know where they are on energy. They
- 55:12Speaker 2: hate fossil fuels. They don't want you drilling offshore or
- 55:16Speaker 2: on federal lands. We know where they are in energy.
- 55:18Speaker 2: We know where they are in a social agenda. I mean, well,
- 55:21Speaker 2: we should hire based on your skin color if you're
- 55:24Speaker 2: transgender or all this kind of stuff. Forget the merit stuff.
- 55:27Speaker 2: I mean, it's just lunacy. And Sherrod Brown is there
- 55:32Speaker 2: all along supporting us during his tenure when he was
- 55:36Speaker 2: the senator, and he wants to be it again. And
- 55:40Speaker 2: I'm thinking, well, you were senator for, what, 30 years?
- 55:42Speaker 2: And now you're running like you've never been there before?
- 55:46Speaker 8: Yeah, he's got to.
- 55:46Speaker 9: Fix everything now. I mean, just think, under the conservative
- 55:51Speaker 9: number of 10 million people that Joe Biden let in
- 55:54Speaker 9: under his four-year reign, how many terrorists, like, just came in?
- 55:59Speaker 9: You know, and are there, you know, what do they
- 56:02Speaker 9: call it, sleeper cells? There's probably sleeper cells all over
- 56:05Speaker 9: the place. Every major city probably got one.
- 56:10Speaker 2: I would agree with that.
- 56:12Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 56:12Speaker 9: Hey, but yeah, getting back to the pipeline, though, I guess, like,
- 56:18Speaker 9: I don't know, maybe around 2014 or 15, Governor Newsom
- 56:26Speaker 9: shut down some kind of pipeline for offshore oil because
- 56:33Speaker 9: maybe there was an oil spill or something. And I
- 56:36Speaker 9: think that really affected the refineries. They They didn't have
- 56:41Speaker 9: enough oil to refine, plus the overregulation. And I think
- 56:46Speaker 9: Trump tried to get that pipeline open again maybe last year.
- 56:52Speaker 9: I don't know if he was successful or not. He
- 56:55Speaker 9: did some kind of one of his mandates, but then
- 56:59Speaker 9: everybody fights him on it. So I don't even know what.
- 57:02Speaker 2: Happened with that. What was the name of the pipeline
- 57:05Speaker 2: that Biden shut down? which was going to bring the oil, sand,
- 57:09Speaker 2: or whatever down from Canada. What was the name of
- 57:11Speaker 2: that one?
- 57:13Speaker 9: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 57:14Speaker 2: Remember that? I mean, did Trump ever open that thing
- 57:17Speaker 2: back up? I don't know. But the Canadian pipeline, during
- 57:22Speaker 2: Trump's first term, he was build it, baby, build it.
- 57:26Speaker 2: And then when Biden came in, he shut it down.
- 57:28Speaker 2: And so is it back open again? I mean, this
- 57:32Speaker 2: is insanity based on the policies of the Democrats themselves.
- 57:37Speaker 2: With energy.
- 57:38Speaker 9: Like the previous caller said, who knows where George Soros'
- 57:43Speaker 9: money is going? I think on that pipeline, I can't,
- 57:49Speaker 9: the name escapes me, but didn't they get like the
- 57:52Speaker 9: Indian Reservation to go against it or something to shut
- 57:57Speaker 9: it down so they couldn't travel across there?
- 57:59Speaker 2: It was the Keystone Pipeline, Keystone Pipeline.
- 58:02Speaker 18: Okay.
- 58:03Speaker 2: Yeah, but remember, Trump had that up and running during
- 58:06Speaker 2: his first term. And then it was shut down with Biden. Well,
- 58:10Speaker 2: is it up and running again? I don't know the
- 58:13Speaker 2: answer to that. I mean, you know, I mean, what
- 58:16Speaker 2: would and you could could you blame him if they
- 58:18Speaker 2: said to hell with it? Because we could do so much.
- 58:21Speaker 2: And let's say Trump loses and the Democrats back in.
- 58:24Speaker 2: Are they going to close it all down again? I mean,
- 58:27Speaker 2: there's no consistency here.
- 58:30Speaker 9: Like you're saying, the Democrats with their crazy policies, just
- 58:33Speaker 9: like the new green scam. And then they get this,
- 58:37Speaker 9: what do you call it, caricatures of, you know, these,
- 58:41Speaker 9: like Gavin Newsom. These guys' hair is slicked back and he,
- 58:44Speaker 9: you know, he talks kind of smooth. And that's what
- 58:47Speaker 9: the people go for. That's what they're voting on, you know.
- 58:51Speaker 9: Just like, oh, yeah, he seems like a handsome, you know,
- 58:55Speaker 9: smooth-talking guy. And they don't even know what his policies are.
- 58:59Speaker 9: or who's controlling them with their backdoor money.
- 59:06Speaker 2: It says here, I was just looking, it says, let's see,
- 59:08Speaker 2: the original Keystone Project. system has been operating since 2010,
- 59:12Speaker 2: but the controversial Keystone XL expansion project remains canceled in
- 59:17Speaker 2: its original form. Though a revised border crossing proposal is
- 59:22Speaker 2: being pursued. President Trump signed an order authorizing a new
- 59:27Speaker 2: modified cross-border pipeline oil transport proposal involving south, bow, and U.S.
- 59:33Speaker 2: company bridger pipeline, whatever that is. So the revised project
- 59:39Speaker 2: uses a different U.S. route to avoid past environmental hurdles
- 59:43Speaker 2: and aims to connect Canadian infrastructure to U.S. markets with
- 59:47Speaker 2: potential operations targeted around 2029 to 2030. Well, that's a
- 59:53Speaker 2: ways off yet. It still faces ongoing regulatory steps in
- 59:57Speaker 2: opposition from environmental groups. So there you go. Always hurdles, right?
- 1:00:03Speaker 27: Right.
- 1:00:04Speaker 9: Hey, one more thing before I go. My wife, she
- 1:00:08Speaker 9: doesn't answer her phone, but I know she listens to
- 1:00:11Speaker 9: the show.
- 1:00:12Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 1:00:12Speaker 18: All right.
- 1:00:13Speaker 9: So can you tell her that front lawn ain't going
- 1:00:16Speaker 9: to cut itself?
- 1:00:18Speaker 2: So she doesn't answer her phone, and you're concerned because
- 1:00:22Speaker 2: it does get dark sooner, so you want your wife
- 1:00:25Speaker 2: to get home. The front lawn doesn't cut itself.
- 1:00:29Speaker 9: I know she listens to the show.
- 1:00:31Speaker 2: I have no problem with telling her that.
- 1:00:33Speaker 9: The front lawn is going to cut itself, Ronnie.
- 1:00:35Speaker 22: Right.
- 1:00:35Speaker 2: Just relax. Don't move. The message is out there. Make
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: sure she gets home. And even if she's there late,
- 1:00:42Speaker 2: make sure she starts. I mean, if she's got to
- 1:00:45Speaker 2: cut it in the dark, there's got to be some
- 1:00:46Speaker 2: type of punishment, right?
- 1:00:48Speaker 9: I'll just tell her wrong verb said stuff.
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: Absolutely. Hey, you know what?
- 1:00:54Speaker 11: What?
- 1:00:54Speaker 9: I can't even imagine, Ronnie.
- 1:00:56Speaker 8: What?
- 1:00:56Speaker 2: I got to go.
- 1:00:58Speaker 22: Okay.
- 1:00:59Speaker 2: You're on the air.
- 1:01:01Speaker 13: Hi, Dan.
- 1:01:02Speaker 8: How you do?
- 1:01:03Speaker 2: Hi, Ron.
- 1:01:03Speaker 8: How are you?
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: I'm doing all right. Go ahead.
- 1:01:06Speaker 8: Well, I'll tell you what, Ron.
- 1:01:08Speaker 27: You know, I'm a baby boomer like yourself. And I'm
- 1:01:12Speaker 27: from Austin town, but I'm visiting my sons.
- 1:01:15Speaker 4: Down here in Florida right now.
- 1:01:18Speaker 27: And let me just tell you this. I'm a Republican myself,
- 1:01:22Speaker 27: but we've had this desantis down here now for almost
- 1:01:26Speaker 27: eight years. And the cost of living down here has
- 1:01:30Speaker 27: become insane for my sons and my children's generation. And
- 1:01:38Speaker 27: what we've bequeathed them is just terrible.
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: And Why don't you tell me how that's the case
- 1:01:46Speaker 2: since I've been down to Florida numerous times since my
- 1:01:49Speaker 2: daughter's down there. And let's see, their gas is pretty
- 1:01:52Speaker 2: much the same cost as ours. Their groceries are the
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: same cost as ours. I mean, I don't see. As
- 1:01:57Speaker 2: a matter of fact, let's see. Let's see. Housing prices
- 1:02:01Speaker 2: are declining in a lot of Florida. They're actually coming
- 1:02:03Speaker 2: down substantially. They're dealing with the insurance issue, so that's
- 1:02:08Speaker 2: coming down.
- 1:02:08Speaker 27: Have you seen what Marjorie Taylor Greene has been saying wrong?
- 1:02:12Speaker 2: Yes, she's been.
- 1:02:13Speaker 27: Because she is absolutely right. Every four years we elect
- 1:02:17Speaker 27: these puppets, and they don't conserve a darn thing. There
- 1:02:22Speaker 27: is more immigration happening here in Florida than I've ever seen.
- 1:02:27Speaker 8: You know, Trump puts a big show on.
- 1:02:29Speaker 2: That's nonsense.
- 1:02:31Speaker 27: He puts a show on Fox News, but the reality is...
- 1:02:34Speaker 27: There's more immigrants coming in than being deported.
- 1:02:38Speaker 2: Well, that's absolutely nonsense. That is not the reality.
- 1:02:41Speaker 4: That is the reality. That's a flat-ass lie.
- 1:02:44Speaker 2: That's a lie, and you know it is. Trump is
- 1:02:47Speaker 2: Israel's puppet.
- 1:02:48Speaker 27: He works for the Jews, Ron.
- 1:02:51Speaker 18: He works for the Jews, not this country.
- 1:02:54Speaker 2: Well, the border is closed, pal. I don't know what
- 1:02:56Speaker 2: that's got to do with the Jews, as you like
- 1:02:57Speaker 2: to say.
- 1:02:58Speaker 8: Oh, have you watched Tucker Carlson?
- 1:03:01Speaker 27: Have you watched? Do you even pay attention to what's
- 1:03:04Speaker 27: going on?
- 1:03:05Speaker 10: No, sir.
- 1:03:06Speaker 2: I try not to pay attention to anything. I'll tell
- 1:03:10Speaker 2: you what, Ron.
- 1:03:11Speaker 27: Donald Trump is a traitor. He is a traitor, and
- 1:03:15Speaker 27: he has not done a damn thing for this country.
- 1:03:18Speaker 27: And you can keep spouting that Fox News propaganda.
- 1:03:21Speaker 2: And I will tell you this.
- 1:03:22Speaker 27: But it doesn't work. It's not left versus right. This
- 1:03:26Speaker 27: is good versus evil.
- 1:03:27Speaker 2: And what's so.
- 1:03:28Speaker 27: Good about it? My solution is stop voting. Why are
- 1:03:33Speaker 27: people still voting every four years for either a Jewish-controlled
- 1:03:37Speaker 27: Republican or a Jewish-controlled Democrat? Where is it getting us?
- 1:03:41Speaker 8: Nowhere.
- 1:03:42Speaker 18: Have a great day.
- 1:03:43Speaker 2: All right. How about that? What do you make of
- 1:03:46Speaker 2: that guy? All right, 330-729-9977. We'll get you through.
- 1:03:52Speaker 18: 330-729-9977.
- 1:03:53Speaker 2: On a good-looking Monday afternoon here. It's September 28th already.
- 1:03:56Speaker 2: It's 66 degrees. It's pleasant out there. We'll pause, and
- 1:04:00Speaker 2: then we'll come back with more. Ron Furb from the
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: Kingdom of Mahoning with you tonight until 6 o'clock. Then
- 1:04:05Speaker 2: at 6, it's Rockport's Wealth, Truth, and Investing program. All
- 1:04:09Speaker 2: about the financial environment from 6 to 7 tonight. Here
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: on NewsRadio 570, Dodie Kivian, back right after this. Here's
- 1:04:21Speaker 2: a staggering fact. Right here in Northeast Ohio, WKBN. All right,
- 1:04:26Speaker 2: back to it. News Radio 570, WKBN. Ron Furb, you're
- 1:04:29Speaker 2: on the air.
- 1:04:31Speaker 11: Ronnie!
- 1:04:32Speaker 3: Yes.
- 1:04:34Speaker 8: Ronnie.
- 1:04:35Speaker 3: Yes. Congratulations.
- 1:04:37Speaker 11: Congratulations.
- 1:04:38Speaker 3: Oh, somebody's cutting the grass over there.
- 1:04:40Speaker 18: You ever do that, Ronnie?
- 1:04:41Speaker 10: Anyhow, congratulations for.
- 1:04:43Speaker 3: WKBN on their 100th birthday and being in broadcasting.
- 1:04:50Speaker 8: And, you know, Ronnie... When you.
- 1:04:51Speaker 3: Matured as a talk show host, do you know when
- 1:04:54Speaker 3: that was? I'll tell you exactly when it was.
- 1:04:57Speaker 2: I'll tell you exactly when it was, last week.
- 1:05:00Speaker 3: The day of the tornado, you went from a snotty-nosed,
- 1:05:04Speaker 3: smart-mouthed kid on the radio to you start taking it
- 1:05:07Speaker 3: seriously when all that happened.
- 1:05:09Speaker 10: And you stayed behind.
- 1:05:10Speaker 3: That microphone for almost 20 hours.
- 1:05:14Speaker 18: That's when you matured, Ronnie.
- 1:05:17Speaker 3: That's when we took you, you know, a little bit seriously.
- 1:05:20Speaker 3: You always had that fun side of you, but we
- 1:05:22Speaker 3: took you a little bit serious, except for your wife.
- 1:05:25Speaker 13: She never took you seriously.
- 1:05:26Speaker 2: Is that right? She never took me seriously?
- 1:05:29Speaker 7: No, no, no, no, no.
- 1:05:33Speaker 3: That's when they had everybody celebrating Mr. Rivers out there
- 1:05:37Speaker 3: and everything. It's amazing. You got him off the golf course.
- 1:05:40Speaker 3: He's a staple at.
- 1:05:43Speaker 8: At some of these golf.
- 1:05:44Speaker 3: Courses over there, no run and everything. He could be
- 1:05:47Speaker 3: a starter out there as much time as he sprints.
- 1:05:49Speaker 2: Well, don't you think he's earned it? He's deserved it.
- 1:05:52Speaker 10: Well, certainly, yes. He certainly has.
- 1:05:54Speaker 28: Yes.
- 1:05:55Speaker 3: I'm not putting it down.
- 1:05:56Speaker 7: He earned it.
- 1:05:57Speaker 3: He went out while he was still relatively young and
- 1:06:02Speaker 3: enjoying life. We had a great time when we were
- 1:06:05Speaker 3: down to see the Beach Boys about a year ago
- 1:06:07Speaker 3: down there. Him and his lovely wife, my lovely girlfriend.
- 1:06:10Speaker 3: The only one missing was you. Oh, yeah, you were
- 1:06:12Speaker 3: working the station that day.
- 1:06:14Speaker 2: That's right. Somebody's got to work for you retirees.
- 1:06:18Speaker 3: And one thing else.
- 1:06:21Speaker 7: How about this one, Ronnie?
- 1:06:24Speaker 3: You know, who was in the Senate and the House
- 1:06:28Speaker 3: when Packer was closing down and Lordstown closed down?
- 1:06:32Speaker 10: Was it Little Timmy Ryan and was it Sherard?
- 1:06:38Speaker 2: Sherard Brown?
- 1:06:40Speaker 10: Yeah. Wasn't he in there?
- 1:06:41Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:06:42Speaker 3: Wasn't they both of them in there when the two
- 1:06:45Speaker 3: biggest employees in the Valley went toes up?
- 1:06:48Speaker 10: And what did they say?
- 1:06:49Speaker 3: Oh, we're going to do this, and we're going to
- 1:06:51Speaker 3: do that, and we're going to provide the jobs, and
- 1:06:53Speaker 3: we're going to get, you know.
- 1:06:54Speaker 10: And what happened?
- 1:06:55Speaker 3: General Motors packed and shut the door and turned the
- 1:06:58Speaker 3: light out, and everybody was.
- 1:07:01Speaker 2: Right, absolutely nothing happens, right?
- 1:07:04Speaker 3: Do you want those people back in charge? Even the
- 1:07:11Speaker 3: guy from Warren knows that was a bad deal what
- 1:07:15Speaker 3: they did.
- 1:07:16Speaker 2: It's ridiculous. Even with the gas prices that they are,
- 1:07:21Speaker 2: would you for one minute think about voting for Sherrod Brown?
- 1:07:25Speaker 2: Would you think one moment that you would vote for
- 1:07:28Speaker 2: Sherrod Brown?
- 1:07:30Speaker 8: No.
- 1:07:31Speaker 2: No way.
- 1:07:33Speaker 10: Right. And Dr.
- 1:07:35Speaker 3: Acton, she might be a good doctor, but, you know,
- 1:07:38Speaker 3: when it came to crunch time and they were protesting
- 1:07:41Speaker 3: in front of her.
- 1:07:42Speaker 10: House, she quit.
- 1:07:43Speaker 2: Yep.
- 1:07:44Speaker 3: She quit. She quit her job and left everywhere. Wear
- 1:07:48Speaker 3: your mask and do this and that. You know, we
- 1:07:51Speaker 3: had to do something. The governor had to do something.
- 1:07:54Speaker 3: She talked them into, oh, everybody wear a mask, everybody
- 1:07:57Speaker 3: six feet apart, everybody, you know, put plastic partitions in
- 1:08:02Speaker 3: your stores and everything. Oh, we can't sell any booze
- 1:08:05Speaker 3: or liquor at the bars and everything past 10 o'clock.
- 1:08:09Speaker 3: Everything had to close.
- 1:08:12Speaker 2: Right. I mean, I forgot about that. The fact that
- 1:08:16Speaker 2: I can't I can't give you a good reason why
- 1:08:18Speaker 2: anybody would vote for Amy Acton.
- 1:08:21Speaker 3: I mean, she has no point.
- 1:08:24Speaker 7: Wasn't she appointed?
- 1:08:25Speaker 10: She was appointed by.
- 1:08:27Speaker 3: The president, governor, who doesn't know is brought in. Rattle
- 1:08:31Speaker 3: me this, Ronnie.
- 1:08:33Speaker 10: We have what?
- 1:08:34Speaker 3: Eighty eight billion dollars in the rainy day fund.
- 1:08:37Speaker 10: How much is in there?
- 1:08:39Speaker 2: I know there's a ton in there, but I want
- 1:08:41Speaker 2: to go back. She quit her job in the thick
- 1:08:44Speaker 2: of it because she couldn't take the criticism. And she left.
- 1:08:48Speaker 2: And now she wants to be governor. And she won't
- 1:08:52Speaker 2: debate Ramaswami. She's afraid. So she quit her job. She
- 1:08:56Speaker 2: won't even debate Ramaswami. Now, don't you think there's something wrong?
- 1:09:00Speaker 2: with that? I mean, why wouldn't you debate? You want
- 1:09:02Speaker 2: to be governor, but you're not willing to face your
- 1:09:05Speaker 2: opponent in a debate. What does that say? What does
- 1:09:09Speaker 2: that tell you?
- 1:09:11Speaker 3: And, you know, she had a little problem, this and there,
- 1:09:14Speaker 3: this and that, and they brought it up. Just like
- 1:09:16Speaker 3: they brought up Rava Salmi peddling them the pills.
- 1:09:21Speaker 10: Some of the pills worked.
- 1:09:22Speaker 3: Some of them didn't. It was a roll of the dice.
- 1:09:26Speaker 3: The people who the pills worked for are glad he
- 1:09:29Speaker 3: got those pills for them.
- 1:09:31Speaker 2: You got it. All right. Thank you, Vince.
- 1:09:33Speaker 8: Good luck to you, Ronnie.
- 1:09:34Speaker 2: Thank you. Back with more calls in a minute. News
- 1:09:36Speaker 2: Radio 570 WKBN.
- 1:09:41Speaker 29: According to AAA, regular gas prices have dropped across the
- 1:09:44Speaker 29: state in the last week. Current averages are around $ 4. 31
- 1:09:48Speaker 29: per gallon, down 20 cents, and diesel prices are averaging
- 1:09:52Speaker 29: $ 6. 73 per gallon, down 3 cents. The vote to suspend
- 1:09:57Speaker 29: the gas tax in the state will be held this Wednesday.
- 1:10:00Speaker 29: Health leaders in Ohio are warning people about a new
- 1:10:02Speaker 29: opioid called cyclophorine. Cyclophorine can be up to 4 to
- 1:10:07Speaker 29: 10 times stronger than fentanyl, but it goes undetected on
- 1:10:11Speaker 29: fentanyl test strips and can stay in the body for days.
- 1:10:14Speaker 29: And public defenders in Ohio are getting a nearly 18%
- 1:10:17Speaker 29: pay increase in capital cases. The pay increase, approved by
- 1:10:22Speaker 29: the Capital Case Attorney Fee Council, raises the hourly rate
- 1:10:26Speaker 29: from $ 140 to $ 165 an hour in late November of 2026.
- 1:10:32Speaker 2: I'm Daniel Barnard.

- 1:10:54Speaker 30: that was 680 South at High Street. Traffic back up
- 1:10:57Speaker 30: to speed there. You are dealing with stop and go
- 1:10:59Speaker 30: traffic due to construction issues.
- 1:11:01Speaker 2: U.S.
- 1:11:01Speaker 30: Route 62 south approaching State Route 7 that has slow
- 1:11:05Speaker 30: traffic all the way to I-80. See something we don't,
- 1:11:08Speaker 30: give our tip line a call.
- 1:11:09Speaker 8: 330-305-1159.
- 1:11:11Speaker 30: I'm Mike Ross from the Total Traffic Center.
- 1:11:15Speaker 2: This report is sponsored by Major League Baseball. October starts today.
- 1:11:19Speaker 2: Tune in to.
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: Now, Ron Verb on NewsRadio 570 WKVN.
- 1:11:25Speaker 2: All right, so 434 in the afternoon, NewsRadio 570 WKVN.
- 1:11:30Speaker 2: It's a nice Monday, isn't it? It's just one of
- 1:11:33Speaker 2: them pleasant days. I hope you're enjoying it. It's already
- 1:11:36Speaker 2: almost the end of September, and it's 66 degrees. How
- 1:11:41Speaker 2: about that? I mean, time is really racing by. You're
- 1:11:43Speaker 2: on the air. Hello? Hello? Yes, speak your piece.
- 1:11:52Speaker 18: Okay, so getting back to that previous caller, you know,
- 1:11:58Speaker 18: he does have a point because, listen, I voted for Trump.
- 1:12:03Speaker 18: Had to because lesser of two evils for sure, and
- 1:12:07Speaker 18: he's done a lot of good things. But look at
- 1:12:10Speaker 18: the Epstein files. How come not one politician has been arrested?
- 1:12:14Speaker 8: Not one.
- 1:12:16Speaker 2: Well, I'll answer that question. I mean, if you take
- 1:12:21Speaker 2: a look, and I think it's a fair question to ask,
- 1:12:23Speaker 2: let's just take a look at the Russian hoax investigation
- 1:12:25Speaker 2: that took place that tied up the first Trump presidency
- 1:12:28Speaker 2: for three years. And the thing was all a Russian hoax.
- 1:12:32Speaker 2: Who was arrested there? Let's take a look at all
- 1:12:35Speaker 2: of this with the COVID situation and Fauci taking a
- 1:12:37Speaker 2: fifth all of those times. Who was charged and went
- 1:12:42Speaker 2: to jail there? Here's what I've noticed. I don't give
- 1:12:45Speaker 2: a damn if it's Republicans or Democrats. They hold all
- 1:12:48Speaker 2: of these hearings and they do all this posturing and
- 1:12:52Speaker 2: there just isn't any follow-through to hold the people accountable.
- 1:12:57Speaker 2: from a legal standpoint and put him in jail. And
- 1:13:00Speaker 2: I'm with you. I find it damn disappointing because the
- 1:13:05Speaker 2: whole COVID situation was just ridiculous and nobody's being held responsible.
- 1:13:11Speaker 2: We're not holding China responsible, Fauci responsible. The lies that
- 1:13:14Speaker 2: were told, people died because they were denied treatments that
- 1:13:19Speaker 2: were working, ivermectin, hydrochloroquine, et cetera. People were denied treatments.
- 1:13:24Speaker 2: People died alone. We were lied to about its origins.
- 1:13:28Speaker 2: Fauci's just a liar, and he had accomplices in that.
- 1:13:32Speaker 2: And guess what? No one's held accountable. And you saw
- 1:13:34Speaker 2: those hearings. Lookit, Fauci takes a fifth all the time.
- 1:13:37Speaker 2: But what did it accomplish? Absolutely nothing.
- 1:13:39Speaker 14: Zero.
- 1:13:40Speaker 2: Like the Russian... Right, the Russian hoax thing. Oh, yeah,
- 1:13:45Speaker 2: for three years in that investigation. Okay, we established that
- 1:13:48Speaker 2: the whole thing was political and a hoax. Well, who
- 1:13:50Speaker 2: was held accountable?
- 1:13:51Speaker 14: Nobody.
- 1:13:52Speaker 2: Nobody.
- 1:13:52Speaker 8: So.
- 1:13:55Speaker 18: Let's take a step further. Look at all the fraud
- 1:13:57Speaker 18: in Minnesota, Columbus.
- 1:13:59Speaker 11: Yep.
- 1:14:00Speaker 18: Not one politician has been arrested yet.
- 1:14:03Speaker 8: Well.
- 1:14:04Speaker 4: Right?
- 1:14:04Speaker 2: I'm not so sure... Not one politician. I.
- 1:14:08Speaker 18: They've arrested Somalis. They've arrested... You know, they've arrested people
- 1:14:13Speaker 18: who were involved with the fraud, but not... Don't tell me...
- 1:14:16Speaker 18: Walsh should be in prison right now.
- 1:14:18Speaker 32: Right.
- 1:14:18Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:14:19Speaker 27: Exactly.
- 1:14:19Speaker 18: Kathy Hochul should be in prison right now.
- 1:14:22Speaker 13: Yes.
- 1:14:23Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:14:24Speaker 8: So.
- 1:14:25Speaker 18: My point is, right wing, left wing. Unfortunately, they all
- 1:14:31Speaker 18: come from the same bird.
- 1:14:36Speaker 2: Listen, I have a tendency to agree with that. It's
- 1:14:39Speaker 2: all a facade. It's all a show. With that being said, though,
- 1:14:42Speaker 2: I would say this to you. As disappointed as I
- 1:14:45Speaker 2: am in some of the stuff Trump has done, overwhelmingly,
- 1:14:48Speaker 2: he's done so much good as far as the border
- 1:14:53Speaker 2: and energy issues. Now, the wars have set back, obviously,
- 1:14:57Speaker 2: and some of the stuff that annoys me about him,
- 1:15:00Speaker 2: but he's done a lot of good for the country,
- 1:15:02Speaker 2: and there's no way I could say, well, screw you,
- 1:15:05Speaker 2: I'm going to vote for the people that brought me
- 1:15:07Speaker 2: high inflation, that hate energy, and want to go back
- 1:15:10Speaker 2: to the gray sexual agenda. I mean, like the Sherrod Browns. No, no, no.
- 1:15:15Speaker 18: Listen, I agree with you 100%.
- 1:15:16Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:15:16Speaker 18: You know, absolutely. But my point is being, is that
- 1:15:23Speaker 18: these politicians, Go look up every politician, every congressman, and
- 1:15:28Speaker 18: every senator, okay, and see which ones take money from AIPAC.
- 1:15:35Speaker 2: Oh, they all do, almost.
- 1:15:36Speaker 18: You're familiar with it.
- 1:15:37Speaker 2: Yes, I'm very familiar with it.
- 1:15:40Speaker 18: So what's that tell you?
- 1:15:41Speaker 2: Right, they're bought and paid for is what that tells me.
- 1:15:44Speaker 18: They're bought and paid for by Israel.
- 1:15:47Speaker 2: Yes, if you'd say they're on the payroll, I would
- 1:15:51Speaker 2: say that's right. I would say you're correct about it.
- 1:15:53Speaker 8: Absolutely. So how do we go about.
- 1:15:58Speaker 10: It doesn't matter.
- 1:15:59Speaker 18: All these politicians, they're not for the American people.
- 1:16:03Speaker 10: They're not.
- 1:16:04Speaker 18: They're for their own interests, and they could care less
- 1:16:10Speaker 18: about any of us.
- 1:16:12Speaker 14: Yes.
- 1:16:13Speaker 2: Any of us. Yes.
- 1:16:14Speaker 18: Because if they did, if these actual politicians would actually
- 1:16:19Speaker 18: do their job for the American people, We wouldn't be
- 1:16:25Speaker 18: in these problems. But unfortunately, that's not the case.
- 1:16:30Speaker 8: They're not for us.
- 1:16:31Speaker 18: And every politician is the same. Every time with all
- 1:16:35Speaker 18: these ads, they all tell you what you want to
- 1:16:37Speaker 18: hear one way or the other, whether you're a Democrat
- 1:16:40Speaker 18: or a Republican. Oh, we're going to do this. We're
- 1:16:42Speaker 18: going to do that. But once they get in office, 90%
- 1:16:46Speaker 18: of them don't do anything. Now, Trump, on the other hand,
- 1:16:50Speaker 18: has done a lot.
- 1:16:52Speaker 8: Yep.
- 1:16:52Speaker 10: And he has.
- 1:16:53Speaker 3: Yep.
- 1:16:53Speaker 18: And I'll stand by that till the day I die.
- 1:16:57Speaker 2: I agree with you on that.
- 1:17:00Speaker 18: But the problem is we got to get rid of this.
- 1:17:06Speaker 18: All this money that goes overseas got to go. All
- 1:17:10Speaker 18: this taxpayer money that they send overseas to all these countries,
- 1:17:14Speaker 18: it's got to stop.
- 1:17:15Speaker 12: Right.
- 1:17:17Speaker 18: You know, he talks about giving everybody a $ 5, 000 stipend
- 1:17:20Speaker 18: if the Republicans win. Because he says we have all
- 1:17:25Speaker 18: this money coming in. Well, if we have all this
- 1:17:27Speaker 18: money coming in, then why don't they stop? Why don't
- 1:17:30Speaker 18: they reduce the taxes instead of 37% of your money
- 1:17:33Speaker 18: going to the government every paycheck?
- 1:17:36Speaker 2: Well, let me ask you this. If we have all
- 1:17:39Speaker 2: this money coming in, why are we $ 40 trillion in
- 1:17:41Speaker 2: debt and growing on a daily basis?
- 1:17:43Speaker 16: Exactly.
- 1:17:45Speaker 8: Exactly.
- 1:17:47Speaker 18: And I, exactly. You know, it's got to end somewhere.
- 1:17:50Speaker 4: See.
- 1:17:51Speaker 18: You know, and I talked to you before a few
- 1:17:53Speaker 18: weeks ago about not paying taxes. And listen, I know
- 1:17:56Speaker 18: we got to pay taxes for the police and the
- 1:17:58Speaker 18: fire and the ambulance services and all this. I agree
- 1:18:02Speaker 18: with that 100%. But there is so much other wasted money.
- 1:18:07Speaker 13: Yep.
- 1:18:08Speaker 18: And we're footing the bill for all of it. And
- 1:18:10Speaker 18: it's ridiculous.
- 1:18:11Speaker 8: Yep. It's insane.
- 1:18:13Speaker 2: I agree. I agree with every word you've spoken so far.
- 1:18:18Speaker 2: Every single one of them.
- 1:18:19Speaker 18: You know, so that guy that called in before, not
- 1:18:23Speaker 18: the last guy, but the guy before, you know, unfortunately
- 1:18:26Speaker 18: he's right. We are bought and paid for by Israel.
- 1:18:30Speaker 18: Because look at all the money that they give to
- 1:18:32Speaker 18: these politicians.
- 1:18:33Speaker 2: On both sides. And take a look.
- 1:18:35Speaker 18: On both sides, absolutely. It's not just one side. It's
- 1:18:38Speaker 18: both sides.
- 1:18:39Speaker 22: Right.
- 1:18:39Speaker 2: And you look at all the money that they put
- 1:18:41Speaker 2: into defeating Thomas Massey, a congressman from Kentucky. Unbelievable. Yeah.
- 1:18:48Speaker 11: Right. Right.
- 1:18:49Speaker 18: It's totally ridiculous and it's totally out of control. The
- 1:18:53Speaker 18: problem is, how do you fix it? Because unfortunately, it
- 1:19:00Speaker 18: doesn't matter who gets in there. So I'm going to
- 1:19:04Speaker 18: just throw this out there.
- 1:19:06Speaker 8: Let me just throw this out there.
- 1:19:07Speaker 18: Does your vote really count? I mean, it counts as
- 1:19:10Speaker 18: far as maybe the lesser of two evils. Nobody wants
- 1:19:14Speaker 18: these Democrats in there. If anybody votes Democrat, you should
- 1:19:18Speaker 18: go in an insane asylum. Because that's where you belong.
- 1:19:27Speaker 8: I mean, Amy Acton?
- 1:19:30Speaker 2: Come on, man.
- 1:19:31Speaker 18: Here's the thing. Look at our governor race. You got
- 1:19:34Speaker 18: two people. You got Amy Acton, who I call her.
- 1:19:39Speaker 18: And this is just my own opinion, I call her Dr. Death,
- 1:19:43Speaker 18: because she was part of the problem. Okay, and then
- 1:19:46Speaker 18: on the other hand, you got the other guy who
- 1:19:49Speaker 18: took bribe money from all this crap with the nuclear
- 1:19:55Speaker 18: power plants and our electricity.
- 1:19:58Speaker 10: So, there again.
- 1:20:00Speaker 2: You're talking about Houston.
- 1:20:03Speaker 18: Well, yeah, Houston. Okay, sorry, wrong two races, but... You
- 1:20:08Speaker 18: know what I'm talking about.
- 1:20:09Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:20:10Speaker 18: You know, Sherrod Brown, he's... You haven't heard one iota
- 1:20:13Speaker 18: of anything that he said. He was in favor of
- 1:20:15Speaker 18: men and girls sports, men and girls bathrooms.
- 1:20:18Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:20:19Speaker 18: That guy's disgusting.
- 1:20:21Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: I mean.
- 1:20:22Speaker 2: And he was there for 30 years, and he's running
- 1:20:24Speaker 2: like he's never been elected before. He's running like he's
- 1:20:27Speaker 2: a new man.
- 1:20:29Speaker 18: He's like Tim Ryan. Tim Ryan boasted all this stuff. Oh,
- 1:20:32Speaker 18: I did this. He didn't do crap when he was
- 1:20:35Speaker 18: in there. And that's the problem. These politicians.
- 1:20:40Speaker 18: Make all this money.
- 1:20:41Speaker 10: And they don't do anything.
- 1:20:43Speaker 18: Now, you and me and our jobs today, if we
- 1:20:44Speaker 18: went to work and didn't do nothing, what would happen
- 1:20:47Speaker 18: to us?
- 1:20:47Speaker 2: Exactly. Exactly.
- 1:20:49Speaker 18: We'd be gone down the road.
- 1:20:51Speaker 11: Yep.
- 1:20:52Speaker 2: I'm with you 100%, man. You make perfect sense to me.
- 1:20:56Speaker 2: You're an intelligent caller. Call of the day.
- 1:20:58Speaker 18: Well, thank you, sir, and enjoy your day.
- 1:21:01Speaker 2: Thank you. Well stated. You're on the air.
- 1:21:04Speaker 7: On the garage.
- 1:21:05Speaker 2: What's that?
- 1:21:07Speaker 13: On the ride.
- 1:21:08Speaker 8: I'll go get him.
- 1:21:08Speaker 2: All right, hang on. You're on the air. Pay attention.
- 1:21:13Speaker 13: Hello.
- 1:21:13Speaker 2: Yeah, go ahead.
- 1:21:15Speaker 13: Okay, I got one question. Who in the name of
- 1:21:18Speaker 13: common sense can vote for the Democrats when Joe Biden,
- 1:21:24Speaker 13: in the middle of COVID, a health crisis for this country,
- 1:21:28Speaker 13: lets in 10 million migrants? How in the world does
- 1:21:36Speaker 13: that cause... you know, any health country. I mean, I
- 1:21:43Speaker 13: can even vote for those people again.
- 1:21:47Speaker 2: I have no idea. And I'd love to hear what
- 1:21:49Speaker 2: you're saying because I agree with you. How can anybody
- 1:21:52Speaker 2: in their right mind, no matter how pissed you get
- 1:21:54Speaker 2: at Trump and the gas prices, how could you say,
- 1:21:57Speaker 2: I'm going to vote for these wackos?
- 1:22:00Speaker 11: Right.
- 1:22:01Speaker 13: And also, I got another question for you. Is there
- 1:22:05Speaker 13: any break for senior citizens on the taxes or is
- 1:22:10Speaker 13: this not on the ballot at all?
- 1:22:13Speaker 2: Uh, no, it's not on a, well, they gave the,
- 1:22:16Speaker 2: are you in Mahoning County?
- 1:22:18Speaker 9: Yes.
- 1:22:19Speaker 27: All right.
- 1:22:19Speaker 2: Well, you got, you got a doubling of the homestead exemption.
- 1:22:23Speaker 2: Do you own your home? I mean, do you live in, okay.
- 1:22:26Speaker 2: So you, you got, you got a little bit of
- 1:22:28Speaker 2: a kickback with the doubling of the homestead exemption. It's
- 1:22:31Speaker 2: not very much, but it's a, but it's a little bit.
- 1:22:34Speaker 2: And as far as the, um, the homestead exemption for
- 1:22:38Speaker 2: the elderly, they didn't give you that at all, which
- 1:22:42Speaker 2: would have went to the poorest of our senior citizens.
- 1:22:45Speaker 2: They didn't do that for you at all.
- 1:22:48Speaker 13: Thanks, politicians.
- 1:22:50Speaker 2: Yeah. So just keep on paying. But they did reevaluate
- 1:22:54Speaker 2: your property, and your property taxes more than likely will
- 1:22:57Speaker 2: go up. But thanks to Dave Thomas, the Republican who
- 1:23:00Speaker 2: actually does work, they won't go up as high as
- 1:23:03Speaker 2: they did in the past because he put a cap
- 1:23:05Speaker 2: on it, which I give him credit for that.
- 1:23:07Speaker 13: Oh, I see.
- 1:23:09Speaker 10: All right.
- 1:23:09Speaker 13: Well, next election, maybe.
- 1:23:11Speaker 2: All right. You'll be in the poorhouse. All right. See
- 1:23:14Speaker 2: you later. See, that's real-life people right there. That's why
- 1:23:19Speaker 2: I always say this is real, man. You hear from
- 1:23:22Speaker 2: people like the guy that called just before that last caller.
- 1:23:26Speaker 2: I mean, he's just spot on. But sometimes when you
- 1:23:30Speaker 2: have to vote for the lesser two evils, it is
- 1:23:31Speaker 2: the lesser of two evils. And those last two calls
- 1:23:35Speaker 2: make perfect sense. I mean, I agree with that guy.
- 1:23:38Speaker 2: You'd have to be in the insane asylum to vote
- 1:23:40Speaker 2: for the Democrats. I mean, if you think about Amy
- 1:23:43Speaker 2: Acton quits in the middle of the COVID because she
- 1:23:46Speaker 2: couldn't take the heat. Now she wants to be governor. Really?
- 1:23:51Speaker 2: She won't even debate Ramaswami? Well, why not? I mean,
- 1:23:58Speaker 2: let's be realistic. I mean, you might be slightly ahead
- 1:24:01Speaker 2: or whatever, but it's pretty close. I'd like to hear
- 1:24:03Speaker 2: a debate between you and Ramaswami. Why won't you debate him?
- 1:24:07Speaker 2: I don't understand this. So you quit because you were
- 1:24:12Speaker 2: when you were the doctor and you won't debate your opponents.
- 1:24:15Speaker 2: But yet you say I should vote for you for governor. Well,
- 1:24:18Speaker 2: what do you stand for? Can you articulate it and
- 1:24:23Speaker 2: debate it with your opponents? It's just, it's bewildering to me.
- 1:24:31Speaker 2: And make no mistake, I'm not a fan of DeWine.
- 1:24:33Speaker 2: I mean, as a Republican, he's been a huge disappointment.
- 1:24:38Speaker 2: But it is, in some cases, the lesser of two evils.
- 1:24:43Speaker 2: I mean, I think Ramaswamy is a much more intelligent
- 1:24:45Speaker 2: person and would make a better governor for the state
- 1:24:48Speaker 2: of Ohio. I think Sherrod Brown is a far-left liberal senator,
- 1:24:57Speaker 2: and he will be that again. What are your pronouns?
- 1:25:01Speaker 2: What do you go by? Do you want to go
- 1:25:04Speaker 2: back to the days where Disney couldn't say, ladies and gentlemen,
- 1:25:07Speaker 2: boys and girls? They eliminated that. You want to go
- 1:25:10Speaker 2: back to the days where we tear down statues in
- 1:25:14Speaker 2: a country? Well, we've got to rip that statue down.
- 1:25:17Speaker 2: We've got to whitewash our history. We're going to hire
- 1:25:20Speaker 2: people not based on merit, but based if you're gay
- 1:25:24Speaker 2: or a transgender person. I mean, do you want to
- 1:25:29Speaker 2: go back to that, the craziness that he supported an
- 1:25:33Speaker 2: open border? Letting all these people into the country. Just
- 1:25:39Speaker 2: not supporting the police and all of the nonsense that
- 1:25:43Speaker 2: you saw the far left do. And would you want
- 1:25:47Speaker 2: to vote for Sherrod Brown? It's a vote to go
- 1:25:50Speaker 2: back to that because that's where he stands. And any
- 1:25:54Speaker 2: of these folks, of course, a lot of times these
- 1:25:56Speaker 2: labor unions that make these endorsements, the rank and file
- 1:25:59Speaker 2: doesn't vote that way. The rank and file says, well,
- 1:26:03Speaker 2: you can endorse whoever you want. We're not voting that way.
- 1:26:05Speaker 2: Because that's what you get with Sherrod Brown. And that's
- 1:26:11Speaker 2: what you get with Amy Acton. There's no way I
- 1:26:15Speaker 2: would vote for either one of them. Now, could they
- 1:26:19Speaker 2: end up winning? Absolutely. You hear me as I say
- 1:26:23Speaker 2: on a daily basis, I get upset with Trump over
- 1:26:26Speaker 2: the situation in Iran and think it was a mistake
- 1:26:30Speaker 2: and think he was influenced into it. But as I
- 1:26:34Speaker 2: have to say, I don't know everything they know either.
- 1:26:39Speaker 2: I mean, we can all have opinions on this, but
- 1:26:42Speaker 2: I'm sure there's information that he's privy to, obviously, and
- 1:26:44Speaker 2: Rubio and these people that we're totally and completely unaware of.
- 1:26:49Speaker 2: But it seems to me, what's the answer to get
- 1:26:52Speaker 2: out of this situation? Iran isn't giving in to any
- 1:26:56Speaker 2: of this stuff. They simply need to survive to win,
- 1:26:58Speaker 2: and they know you'll sooner or later leave, as we've
- 1:27:01Speaker 2: always done in Vietnam, Afghanistan. They're sitting around hoping in
- 1:27:06Speaker 2: the midterms that the Democrats win one of the two
- 1:27:09Speaker 2: houses and can checkmate Trump that way. I mean, that's
- 1:27:16Speaker 2: probably their ultimate plan. Well, I'm not going to vote
- 1:27:22Speaker 2: for their plan. I'm not going to support that idea
- 1:27:25Speaker 2: by voting that way at all. But how many times
- 1:27:30Speaker 2: during your life have you had a choice, a bad choice?
- 1:27:33Speaker 2: I mean, I can tell you I can't enthusiastically vote
- 1:27:38Speaker 2: for John Husted. I'm just voting for him because the
- 1:27:42Speaker 2: Republican side makes more sense than anything on a crazy
- 1:27:47Speaker 2: Democrat side. And in many cases during my life, that's
- 1:27:53Speaker 2: what it's come down to. Kind of the lesser of
- 1:27:59Speaker 2: the evils, if you will. But the Democrat side is
- 1:28:02Speaker 2: just crazy. I agree with Bill Maher. It's just absolute craziness.
- 1:28:10Speaker 2: And it's like, I don't know. We got to increase
- 1:28:14Speaker 2: the number of people on the Supreme Court because it's conservative.
- 1:28:19Speaker 2: We've got to open up the border. We've got to,
- 1:28:22Speaker 2: you know, the police and all this kind of nonsense.
- 1:28:26Speaker 2: It's crazy. You're on the air.
- 1:28:29Speaker 10: Ron, hey, how you doing?
- 1:28:30Speaker 8: Good.
- 1:28:30Speaker 2: Hang on. Let me do my break, and I'll come
- 1:28:32Speaker 2: right back to you, all right? Just hang on one second.
- 1:28:34Speaker 2: Let me do my commercials. I'll come right back to
- 1:28:35Speaker 2: that guy. In a minute, Ron Furp from the Kingdom
- 1:28:38Speaker 2: of Mahoning. See what he has to say. We're here tonight.
- 1:28:40Speaker 2: till 6. He'll speak his piece right after this from
- 1:28:43Speaker 2: NewsRadio 570 WKVN. Monday, September 28th, 66 degrees, overcast, but
- 1:28:49Speaker 2: a pleasant fall-like day in my neck of the woods.
- 1:28:52Speaker 2: Hope you're enjoying it.
- 1:28:56Speaker 15: When we lost my mother, we were... Fall shopping is.
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: And Talk Station 570 WKBN. We're on verb 455 here
- 1:29:05Speaker 1: on a Monday afternoon.
- 1:29:06Speaker 2: And, all right, thanks for your patience. Go ahead, please.
- 1:29:10Speaker 33: I was calling to see if you've seen any of
- 1:29:13Speaker 33: these polling numbers. I was recently watching a video that
- 1:29:18Speaker 33: was talking about some polling they've done across the country.
- 1:29:21Speaker 12: This would be all voters.
- 1:29:23Speaker 18: It was a.
- 1:29:25Speaker 12: You go poll.
- 1:29:26Speaker 33: I think it was an elected collaborative or something like that.
- 1:29:29Speaker 18: But they asked the.
- 1:29:31Speaker 33: Question, you know, basically going head to head, putting a
- 1:29:36Speaker 33: Democratic socialist candidate against a generic MAGA candidate. And across
- 1:29:43Speaker 33: the country, they had DSA would be 54 percent of
- 1:29:48Speaker 33: likely voters to vote for a DSA candidate, whereas 34 percent.
- 1:29:52Speaker 33: of likely voters vote for a MAGA candidate. I think
- 1:29:56Speaker 33: that's pretty reflective of where the polls are right now
- 1:29:59Speaker 33: in general in terms of Trump's approval rating and things
- 1:30:02Speaker 33: like that. I think we're headed into a, you know,
- 1:30:06Speaker 33: absolute bloodbath for the Republicans headed into this midterm election.
- 1:30:11Speaker 33: And that's why you start, you know, I'm starting to
- 1:30:13Speaker 33: hear stories now about Trump getting advice about how to
- 1:30:17Speaker 33: declare martial law and things like that, how to deploy
- 1:30:20Speaker 33: ice into the, uh, polling stations, things like that. You know, that,
- 1:30:24Speaker 33: that really is the only way for them to, uh,
- 1:30:27Speaker 33: you know, to try to avoid some of this bloodbath.
- 1:30:30Speaker 33: They're saying that it's going to be a bigger swing, uh,
- 1:30:34Speaker 33: than anything since I think it was like 71 or so,
- 1:30:38Speaker 33: basically that the Reagan revolution, um, There's going to be
- 1:30:42Speaker 33: no bigger swing. That's what it's looking like towards the Democrats.
- 1:30:46Speaker 2: Well, first and foremost, I don't buy any of this stuff.
- 1:30:50Speaker 2: I've heard this for years, and it's ridiculous, the martial
- 1:30:52Speaker 2: law stuff or any of this other stuff. Hang on
- 1:30:56Speaker 2: a second. I think that's utter and complete nonsense. Would
- 1:31:01Speaker 2: it surprise me that the Democrats do well in the
- 1:31:04Speaker 2: midterms simply based? I don't think it has much to
- 1:31:07Speaker 2: do with any of that stuff you mentioned. I agree
- 1:31:09Speaker 2: with James Carville. It's the economy, stupid. And I think
- 1:31:12Speaker 2: many people are upset, obviously, with inflation and the gas
- 1:31:15Speaker 2: prices and the diesel prices. And they'll vote for the
- 1:31:19Speaker 2: opposing party, as they usually do, thinking that that sends
- 1:31:23Speaker 2: a message or that'll make it better. And that's a
- 1:31:26Speaker 2: real possibility. Wouldn't surprise me at all. But you get
- 1:31:30Speaker 2: what you vote for. And if you think socialism is
- 1:31:32Speaker 2: going to work, good luck with it. I mean, it's
- 1:31:35Speaker 2: not working where they put it. But I don't live
- 1:31:37Speaker 2: in New York and I don't live in California. And
- 1:31:40Speaker 2: I'm glad I don't live there. And I wouldn't want
- 1:31:42Speaker 2: to live there. And I don't think we can give
- 1:31:45Speaker 2: everybody Medicare for all. We're having a hard enough time
- 1:31:48Speaker 2: making Medicare affordable. Under the current situation. Stand by. I'll
- 1:31:52Speaker 2: let you address that. I've got to pause for the
- 1:31:54Speaker 2: headlines at 5. Then I'll come right back to you.
- 1:31:56Speaker 2: And then G2 will be coming up as well. So
- 1:31:58Speaker 2: stay tuned. Mike Rowe here with another random fact.
- 1:32:01Speaker 1: Celebrating 100 years as the Valley's trusted news, weather, and
- 1:32:06Speaker 1: talk station.
- 1:32:07Speaker 4: 570 WKBN. Youngstown.
- 1:32:16Speaker 23: The midterm elections are five weeks from tomorrow. Elisa Brady,
- 1:32:19Speaker 23: Fox News. So President Trump is hitting the campaign trail.
- 1:32:22Speaker 28: The president will crisscross the country this week, raising money
- 1:32:26Speaker 28: and hosting rallies for Republicans on the midterm ballot.
- 1:32:30Speaker 20: We have great people and we're running against communists, lunatics, socialists.
- 1:32:35Speaker 28: President Trump says he plans to tout economic improvements and
- 1:32:38Speaker 28: border security. But polls show Republicans trailing in several key
- 1:32:42Speaker 28: races where President Trump previously won.
- 1:32:45Speaker 20: I think the polls aren't accurate because I won it
- 1:32:47Speaker 20: by so much and it doesn't make sense that they
- 1:32:50Speaker 20: wouldn't be right up there with me.
- 1:32:52Speaker 28: The president is urging supporters to vote as if his
- 1:32:54Speaker 28: name is on the ballot.
- 1:32:56Speaker 23: Fox's Jared Halpern at the White House, the president taking
- 1:32:59Speaker 23: questions after announcing what he calls the largest ever steel
- 1:33:02Speaker 23: plant in the U.S., a $ 15 billion project planned by
- 1:33:06Speaker 23: Minnesota-based Misabi Metallics, which is owned by a company based
- 1:33:10Speaker 23: in India.
- 1:33:11Speaker 15: Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds thanking the president.
- 1:33:13Speaker 21: Your commitment.
- 1:33:15Speaker 24: to bringing manufacturing back to the states and really restoring
- 1:33:18Speaker 24: American industrial dominance is the reason that this is happening.
- 1:33:22Speaker 28: This would not be happening without your leadership.
- 1:33:25Speaker 23: She says COVID underscored how important it is to boost
- 1:33:29Speaker 23: domestic manufacturing. Democrats argue the president's agenda is failing, and
- 1:33:33Speaker 23: they point in part to the ongoing conflict with Iran.
- 1:33:36Speaker 23: President Trump telling reporters today we'll win one way or
- 1:33:39Speaker 23: the other after he rejected Iran's latest ceasefire proposal. But
- 1:33:43Speaker 23: the two sides are still talking through mediators.
- 1:33:46Speaker 13: U.S.
- 1:33:46Speaker 34: Officials have confirmed to Fox News that President Trump is
- 1:33:49Speaker 34: willing to give Iranian sanctions relief and release frozen funds
- 1:33:53Speaker 34: in exchange for concrete progress on nuclear issues. There's also
- 1:33:57Speaker 34: a level of skepticism regarding Iran's seriousness to make a deal,
- 1:34:01Speaker 34: given that they broke the last MOU by firing on
- 1:34:04Speaker 34: ships in the Strait of Hormuz.

- 1:35:13Speaker 1: Now, Ron Verb on NewsRadio 570 WKBN.
- 1:35:20Speaker 2: All right. Late words. G2 will be joining us. I'm
- 1:35:23Speaker 2: all choked up all of a sudden. G2 will be
- 1:35:25Speaker 2: joining us momentarily on NewsRadio 570 WKBN and contributing to
- 1:35:31Speaker 2: the broadcast as well. So comments for him as we
- 1:35:35Speaker 2: go along. We'll talk to G2 for a little bit.
- 1:35:37Speaker 2: Any comments that you might have or questions you might have. Obviously,
- 1:35:40Speaker 2: our phone's going to be open during that time, too,
- 1:35:42Speaker 2: at 330-729-9977. 330-729-9977. Just a couple of reminders. We'll be
- 1:35:49Speaker 2: with you until 6 tonight at 6, Rockport Wealth Truth
- 1:35:53Speaker 2: and Investing Program here on NewsRadio 570 WKBN. So that's
- 1:35:57Speaker 2: what happens tonight between 6 and 7 on this Monday night. Stocks, bonds,
- 1:36:02Speaker 2: mutual funds. Financial planning, all that kind of jazz, that's
- 1:36:06Speaker 2: what we deal with tonight from 6 to 7, as
- 1:36:09Speaker 2: we do on Mondays here on NewsRadio 570 WKBN. So
- 1:36:13Speaker 2: keep all of that in mind. I didn't even check, incidentally,
- 1:36:19Speaker 2: speaking of stocks, bonds, and that kind of stuff, what's
- 1:36:21Speaker 2: even going on on the market today. I heard earlier
- 1:36:23Speaker 2: that it was down, but I should be on top
- 1:36:27Speaker 2: of that. And usually Fort Lauderdale Frank keeps me posted
- 1:36:30Speaker 2: on that. Dow slides more than 300 points to start
- 1:36:33Speaker 2: the week as Treasury yields pressure stocks. It doesn't say
- 1:36:38Speaker 2: anything about oil prices or anything like that at this point.
- 1:36:44Speaker 2: Trump announces plan for $ 15 billion steel plant would be
- 1:36:47Speaker 2: largest in U.S. history. Why doesn't he announce a plan
- 1:36:50Speaker 2: for a giant refinery? That's what we need him to
- 1:36:53Speaker 2: announce for. Dow slides more than 300 points to start
- 1:36:57Speaker 2: week as Treasury yields pressure stocks. All right, so that
- 1:37:02Speaker 2: can't be good. Boeing 737 MAX 10 certification delayed by
- 1:37:06Speaker 2: software issue. LeBron James is already boosting tickets and merchandise
- 1:37:11Speaker 2: demand for the Philadelphia 76ers. Michael Burry believes the AI
- 1:37:19Speaker 2: bubble may burst sooner than he first believed. Bill Gates
- 1:37:24Speaker 2: was saying something about that. There was an article earlier today,
- 1:37:29Speaker 2: which I got to find, and what Gates was concerned
- 1:37:33Speaker 2: about what could happen as far as AI was concerned.
- 1:37:38Speaker 2: He was making some comments about that. Let me see
- 1:37:44Speaker 2: if I can find that for you. Parents-in-law arrested after
- 1:37:52Speaker 2: New York Times games engineer director found shot, fatally shot. Well,
- 1:38:00Speaker 2: that ought to be an interesting story. Just hang on.
- 1:38:02Speaker 2: I get to, I get back to calls momentarily. So parents-in-law,
- 1:38:05Speaker 2: parents-in-law arrested. It seems weird, doesn't it? Something like that
- 1:38:12Speaker 2: would happen. Let me see. What else do I have?
- 1:38:17Speaker 2: In-laws arrested after New York Times games games engineer, director
- 1:38:23Speaker 2: found fatally shot. Jonathan McKenzie, a New York Times games
- 1:38:29Speaker 2: engineering executive. Was shot and killed Sunday afternoon. In California.
- 1:38:36Speaker 2: And his wife's parents. Were arrested on suspicion of murder.
- 1:38:41Speaker 2: Within minutes. This McKenzie 40 was. Found with multiple gunshot wounds.
- 1:38:46Speaker 2: In a parking lot of the Dublin sports grounds. and
- 1:38:50Speaker 2: was pronounced dead at the scene. A New York Times
- 1:38:53Speaker 2: spokesperson confirms that McKinsey served as director of engineering for
- 1:38:58Speaker 2: New York Times Games. He worked for the company since 2023.
- 1:39:03Speaker 2: About 3.08 p.m. local time Saturday, a police service sergeant
- 1:39:09Speaker 2: driving near the sports complex spotted a man lying in
- 1:39:12Speaker 2: a parking lot and stopped to investigate. Around the same time,
- 1:39:15Speaker 2: dispatchers began receiving multiple 911 calls reporting a shooting. Spawning
- 1:39:19Speaker 2: officers found this McKenzie suffering from multiple gunshot wounds with
- 1:39:23Speaker 2: help from witnesses. Officers quickly identified and detained two suspects
- 1:39:28Speaker 2: who had remained at the scene. The suspects were identified
- 1:39:31Speaker 2: as Shuyang Zhang, 77, and Shili Chen, 77, both of Dublin.
- 1:39:39Speaker 2: Officials say the married couple are McKenzie's parents-in-law. Who they
- 1:39:48Speaker 2: say shot him. That's weird. They say there aren't any
- 1:39:53Speaker 2: other suspects. And they haven't released a possible motive. How
- 1:40:00Speaker 2: weird is that? That is just odd, man. Shot by
- 1:40:06Speaker 2: your parents-in-law. God, they had to hate you as a son-in-law.
- 1:40:09Speaker 2: They had to just hate you. They had to say,
- 1:40:12Speaker 2: you suck. I mean, that's just brutal. Wait a second.
- 1:40:15Speaker 2: Let me check something right here. Okay, wait a second.
- 1:40:17Speaker 2: I didn't mean to do that. That's not what I'm
- 1:40:19Speaker 2: looking for. All right, Schumer. I got to find this
- 1:40:24Speaker 2: story about Bill Gates. I mean, it was kind of
- 1:40:27Speaker 2: an interesting... AOC paints grim picture of AI-powered future. Lawyer
- 1:40:38Speaker 2: reveals what convinced this one guy to... What is this
- 1:40:42Speaker 2: AI picture that she paints a fear of? I can't
- 1:40:48Speaker 2: imagine it. I don't see it. Who knows what her
- 1:40:54Speaker 2: concern is? I don't see it. Trump rejects AI fears,
- 1:40:59Speaker 2: pushes let's win message. And not this.
- 1:41:05Speaker 2: Not the fear that's put out there. Bill Gates had
- 1:41:07Speaker 2: some fearful thing that he was putting out there today.
- 1:41:10Speaker 2: And I'll be damned if I can even find it
- 1:41:11Speaker 2: for you. Those terror suspects, as I mentioned earlier, in
- 1:41:15Speaker 2: the UK were released on bail. That makes a lot
- 1:41:17Speaker 2: of sense. SpaceX Starship goes up in flames during Splashtown
- 1:41:23Speaker 2: after historic flight cut short. That can't be good for
- 1:41:26Speaker 2: the stock. God, I've got to find that Bill Gates
- 1:41:33Speaker 2: story before G2 joins me. I mean, it's a hell
- 1:41:38Speaker 2: of a story. Or maybe he'll find it for me.
- 1:41:41Speaker 2: I mean, he was really putting it out there. And
- 1:41:48Speaker 2: it was just, I swear it was just today, I
- 1:41:51Speaker 2: saw it this morning. I think it was this morning.
- 1:42:00Speaker 2: I'm telling you. Bill Gates says only four jobs are
- 1:42:06Speaker 2: safe from A.I. All right, you want to buy that?
- 1:42:16Speaker 2: Was this it? Bill Gates says only four jobs are
- 1:42:18Speaker 2: safe from AI, but here are seven other predictions he's
- 1:42:20Speaker 2: made that didn't age well. All right, so this is
- 1:42:24Speaker 2: what he's talking about. Bill Gates says anything about the
- 1:42:27Speaker 2: future technology, people tend to take note. After all, Gates
- 1:42:30Speaker 2: has correctly predicted everything from digital assistance to online payments
- 1:42:34Speaker 2: and remote work years before they became mainstream. His latest
- 1:42:38Speaker 2: warning is just as bold. Bill Gates recently suggested that
- 1:42:42Speaker 2: artificial intelligence will eventually automate most jobs, leaving only a
- 1:42:48Speaker 2: handful of careers, including programmers, biologists, energy experts, and even
- 1:42:57Speaker 2: professional athletes as relatively safe. Those are the four careers,
- 1:43:02Speaker 2: he says. Programmers, biologists, energy experts, and professional athletes. Maybe
- 1:43:07Speaker 2: he's right. All right, let's see. But history suggests there's
- 1:43:12Speaker 2: another possibility. Even one of the greatest technology visionaries of
- 1:43:16Speaker 2: our time doesn't always see the future clearly. Before you
- 1:43:19Speaker 2: decide whether Gates' rights on his AI predictions deserves your trust,
- 1:43:24Speaker 2: it's worth looking back at some of his biggest forecasting misses.
- 1:43:29Speaker 2: All right. So he's missed a lot, but he's saying
- 1:43:32Speaker 2: AI is different, right?
- 1:43:33Speaker 14: You know.
- 1:43:35Speaker 2: Let's see. We should see. I don't know. We'll see.
- 1:43:46Speaker 2: We'll see about that. I thought there was other stuff
- 1:43:47Speaker 2: he was saying. I just haven't found it. And this
- 1:43:51Speaker 2: deal with AOC is just somewhat ridiculous, too. Somebody might
- 1:43:56Speaker 2: have seen that Bill Gates thing. Let's see. AOC says
- 1:44:02Speaker 2: AI version includes elites hoarding resources, wiping out jobs. So
- 1:44:11Speaker 2: that's what she's saying. It's going to just wipe out jobs.
- 1:44:14Speaker 2: Some of this stuff, you've got to ask yourself, is
- 1:44:16Speaker 2: it possible? I suppose so, but do you believe it?
- 1:44:20Speaker 2: I mean, these people are just saying a lot of stuff,
- 1:44:23Speaker 2: and do they know? I mean, does anyone really trust
- 1:44:25Speaker 2: what AOC has to say about AI? I thought Gates
- 1:44:30Speaker 2: had more troubling stuff to say about it, but it
- 1:44:33Speaker 2: doesn't appear to be so. It doesn't appear to be
- 1:44:36Speaker 2: so with it. Maybe I'll find it as time goes on.
- 1:44:40Speaker 2: All right, 330-729-9977. Sorry about that. I want to give
- 1:44:44Speaker 2: you the latest on that. But basically, I don't know.
- 1:44:47Speaker 2: Some people are saying this is all a bunch of fear-mongering.
- 1:44:50Speaker 2: It's the latest. People are saying it's a new COVID
- 1:44:54Speaker 2: or whatever you want to say that the Democrats are
- 1:44:57Speaker 2: preaching or these people are preaching when it comes to AI. Basically,
- 1:45:02Speaker 2: they're saying don't buy into it. It's all ridiculous. And
- 1:45:05Speaker 2: it's a new fear-mongering, you know, that AI is going
- 1:45:07Speaker 2: to take over the world and AI is going to
- 1:45:10Speaker 2: kill you. And it's a big fear-mongering stuff that's being
- 1:45:13Speaker 2: put out at this particular time. Spearheaded by politics is
- 1:45:16Speaker 2: what some people are saying when it comes to AI.
- 1:45:18Speaker 2: It's all politics. It's all political. Or so they claim.
- 1:45:23Speaker 2: So they claim when it comes to the situation with AI.
- 1:45:26Speaker 2: But we shall see. You've got this battleground state. that's
- 1:45:33Speaker 2: becoming the new home of the $ 15 billion mega steel factory.
- 1:45:38Speaker 2: I thought a caller brought up an excellent point. Why
- 1:45:40Speaker 2: doesn't that happen here? Largest ever U.S. steel plant is
- 1:45:44Speaker 2: coming to a key red state, $ 15 billion investment. I
- 1:45:48Speaker 2: always love these announcements, but I wish I would go
- 1:45:51Speaker 2: back and say, okay, did they ever fulfill this? So
- 1:45:55Speaker 2: you heard his plans for a massive steel plant in Iowa.
- 1:45:59Speaker 2: White House says it will be the largest in American
- 1:46:01Speaker 2: history and promises to bring 1,750 permanent jobs to the state.
- 1:46:07Speaker 2: The roughly $ 15 billion steel plant is touted as a
- 1:46:10Speaker 2: major new investment and evidence that Trump's economic agenda is
- 1:46:15Speaker 2: bringing heavy manufacturing back to the U.S. Well, you know
- 1:46:18Speaker 2: it'll be a state-of-the-art plant with just over a month
- 1:46:20Speaker 2: until the midterms. It will create between 5,000 and 6,000
- 1:46:26Speaker 2: construction jobs during its first phase. All right, well, okay,
- 1:46:32Speaker 2: so why don't you bring it to where we made
- 1:46:35Speaker 2: steel initially? Why don't you bring it to our neck
- 1:46:37Speaker 2: of the woods? Not a bad idea, right, for something
- 1:46:39Speaker 2: along those lines? It would seem possible to me, but
- 1:46:43Speaker 2: I don't understand why that's the case. Judge has final
- 1:46:48Speaker 2: say after Clancy Defense prosecutes a reach agreement on holdout probe.
- 1:46:53Speaker 2: The attacks that they're putting on this guy that was
- 1:46:56Speaker 2: a holdout jury in this Clancy case by revealing his
- 1:47:00Speaker 2: identity and the hassle that he's putting up with. So
- 1:47:04Speaker 2: it says here, Lindsay Clancy's push to investigate holdout juror
- 1:47:08Speaker 2: could be paused as defense and prosecutors agree to adjourn.
- 1:47:12Speaker 2: So you got Clancy's legal team and the prosecutor's. have
- 1:47:18Speaker 2: agreed to delay defense attorney's motion to investigate the lone
- 1:47:22Speaker 2: holdout juror in her mistrial. So now you've got to
- 1:47:26Speaker 2: investigate this guy because he doesn't think she's not guilty
- 1:47:29Speaker 2: by reason of insanity. He thinks she's guilty of killing
- 1:47:33Speaker 2: her three kids. A final decision subject to the judge,
- 1:47:37Speaker 2: but the judge has not yet announced the decision one
- 1:47:39Speaker 2: way or the other. The DA and the defense attorney
- 1:47:43Speaker 2: consent to adjourn the motion to investigate the holdout juror.
- 1:47:48Speaker 2: So now we're going to investigate him. If Judge Sullivan
- 1:47:51Speaker 2: signs an order today, much of it could be adjourned.
- 1:47:55Speaker 2: Either way, a status conference is still likely. But the
- 1:48:01Speaker 2: motion against the holdout juror is due in court by
- 1:48:07Speaker 2: 9 a.m. Tuesday for a status conference. So now the
- 1:48:10Speaker 2: answer is, okay, let's go after this juror. Because he
- 1:48:14Speaker 2: didn't give in to the other 11. He didn't give
- 1:48:16Speaker 2: in to the mob. And so now he seems to
- 1:48:19Speaker 2: be the problem. It's one thing after the other, all right?
- 1:48:23Speaker 2: I mean, this is all interesting stuff that's going on here.
- 1:48:27Speaker 8: Hmm. Hmm.
- 1:48:34Speaker 2: But I don't see the Gates thing.
- 1:48:36Speaker 8: Oh, well.
- 1:48:37Speaker 2: He's usually wrong about most stuff. Or he's preaching this beware,
- 1:48:41Speaker 2: be careful, and all that stuff. We shall see. I'm sorry.
- 1:48:44Speaker 2: You're on air.
- 1:48:45Speaker 11: Hey, Ron.
- 1:48:46Speaker 10: Good evening.
- 1:48:47Speaker 2: Good evening, sir. Start at the top of the phone.
- 1:48:49Speaker 2: Punch the wrong line, but don't worry, folks. Go ahead, sir.
- 1:48:52Speaker 7: Oh, you punched the wrong line.
- 1:48:54Speaker 18: Thanks, pal.
- 1:48:54Speaker 2: My eye-hand coordination is off today.
- 1:48:57Speaker 20: All right.
- 1:48:57Speaker 2: Go ahead with your thoughts.
- 1:48:59Speaker 7: Well, you're bringing up this world's largest steel mill, and
- 1:49:01Speaker 7: we had one up in Warren. You know that. You
- 1:49:04Speaker 7: and I have discussed it several times.
- 1:49:05Speaker 1: Yes, sir.
- 1:49:06Speaker 7: I've worked there for 20 years. My question is, this
- 1:49:09Speaker 7: state-of-the-art steel mill, are they going to have blast furnaces?
- 1:49:13Speaker 7: Because you can have electric furnaces, but the problem is
- 1:49:17Speaker 7: there's only a finite amount of scrap. If they have
- 1:49:20Speaker 7: blast furnaces, now you've got the iron ore range in Minnesota,
- 1:49:24Speaker 7: and you have the other stuff that goes with it.
- 1:49:26Speaker 7: These are all questions that a guy that's an old
- 1:49:29Speaker 7: steel worker mill hunky would look to know.
- 1:49:32Speaker 2: And what's the... Well, my question is, okay, so you're
- 1:49:35Speaker 2: going to put it in Iowa. Why Iowa? I always thought,
- 1:49:38Speaker 2: I understand state of the art, but why wouldn't you,
- 1:49:42Speaker 2: the person asking a fair question, why wouldn't you bring
- 1:49:44Speaker 2: it here? We got the water. We got the infrastructure.
- 1:49:46Speaker 7: You got all that brine ground that you don't have
- 1:49:49Speaker 7: to do the, what do they call that with the EPA,
- 1:49:52Speaker 7: with the asbestos and everything else on the Mahoning River?
- 1:49:55Speaker 14: Yeah.
- 1:49:55Speaker 7: Down here in Struthers and everything.
- 1:49:57Speaker 17: Yeah.
- 1:49:57Speaker 8: That'd be perfect.
- 1:49:59Speaker 10: Exactly.
- 1:49:59Speaker 2: Exactly. So it's all politics. I guess they think that
- 1:50:04Speaker 2: this is.
- 1:50:04Speaker 3: Exactly.
- 1:50:06Speaker 2: Well, it is. I mean, he's putting it in Iowa
- 1:50:08Speaker 2: because it's a tight race or whatever that is, or
- 1:50:11Speaker 2: the company announces it's going to be there. My question
- 1:50:13Speaker 2: to this, there's no slam on Trump. Whenever he makes
- 1:50:15Speaker 2: these big announcements like this, I always say the same thing. Why,
- 1:50:21Speaker 2: if you're putting it there... I just want to see
- 1:50:26Speaker 2: the follow-through on all this stuff. I hope there's follow-through
- 1:50:29Speaker 2: on it.
- 1:50:29Speaker 7: Right, but you still need a river. And we have
- 1:50:33Speaker 7: all this brine ground in the Mahoning Valley with the abatement.
- 1:50:38Speaker 7: That's the word I was looking for earlier. With the abatement,
- 1:50:42Speaker 7: because you can't develop it, it's perfect for a steel mill.
- 1:50:46Speaker 7: It was just like a war in the mill I
- 1:50:47Speaker 7: worked in at WCI.
- 1:50:49Speaker 29: It was.
- 1:50:50Speaker 7: You know, you see them big mines up there where
- 1:50:52Speaker 7: the paper mill, well, that's all the dirt they can't use.
- 1:50:55Speaker 7: It's got to be hauled out if you drive around
- 1:50:57Speaker 7: Main Street and Southwest Pine. And you look at this
- 1:51:01Speaker 7: and you're going, okay, we have a modern steel mill,
- 1:51:07Speaker 7: all the technology, but are you going to have a
- 1:51:09Speaker 7: blast furnace? Because an electric furnace is a finite amount
- 1:51:13Speaker 7: of scrap. And us guys that were mill hunkies in
- 1:51:17Speaker 7: this valley know this. And without a blast furnace, and
- 1:51:22Speaker 7: without raw iron ore, taconite, and everything else that goes
- 1:51:26Speaker 7: with it, you're going to have another new core steel.
- 1:51:31Speaker 7: They run on electric furnaces. You're going to have another,
- 1:51:34Speaker 7: whatever down in Canton are all electric furnaces. Just like
- 1:51:38Speaker 7: V & M up here in Girard. It's electric furnaces.
- 1:51:43Speaker 7: They run on scrap. Okay? But if you can run
- 1:51:47Speaker 7: blast furnaces... And get iron ore, you can make virgin steel.
- 1:51:52Speaker 7: And then you can make a lot of products. And
- 1:51:55Speaker 7: that's what people don't understand about this.
- 1:51:59Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, hey, you know more than I do
- 1:52:01Speaker 2: about it. I'm all ears, as they say.
- 1:52:04Speaker 8: All right.
- 1:52:04Speaker 2: Thank you, Ty. Have a good night. All right. I'll
- 1:52:06Speaker 2: come back with more right after this. Stay tuned. Hello again, everyone.
- 1:52:14Speaker 4: Big Dan.
- 1:52:14Speaker 1: Youngstown's news, weather, and talk station, 570 WKBN.
- 1:52:20Speaker 2: All right, onward we go. You're on the air.
- 1:52:22Speaker 13: Hello.
- 1:52:24Speaker 32: The reason the debt steel mill is going into Iowa
- 1:52:27Speaker 32: is the same reason we have ethanol in our fuel
- 1:52:29Speaker 32: tanks is because Iowa gets to go.
- 1:52:31Speaker 8: First in the primary elections.
- 1:52:34Speaker 32: And that was per Ted Cruz a few years ago,
- 1:52:37Speaker 32: that no politician is ever going to speak up and say,
- 1:52:41Speaker 32: we're going to stop ethanol because they will lose Iowa.
- 1:52:45Speaker 32: And if you lose Iowa, you've lost all your momentum.
- 1:52:48Speaker 32: The shame of it is that the parent company is
- 1:52:52Speaker 32: an India company.
- 1:52:55Speaker 2: And this deal is going to be financed through.
- 1:52:57Speaker 32: The import-export bank. And if you look that up, that
- 1:53:01Speaker 32: is a bank of the federal government that will hand
- 1:53:03Speaker 32: out loans to businesses when other banks won't touch it
- 1:53:07Speaker 32: because the risk is too high.
- 1:53:09Speaker 4: And what we have.
- 1:53:10Speaker 32: Signed up for, what Trump signed up for, is a
- 1:53:12Speaker 32: $ 10 billion risk with this steel mill that's going into
- 1:53:17Speaker 32: Iowa so that we can help his chances of Republicans
- 1:53:21Speaker 32: winning Iowa during a general election.
- 1:53:27Speaker 27: And.
- 1:53:28Speaker 32: So we're going deeper into debt because this steel mill
- 1:53:31Speaker 32: should be able to go get its own financing. But
- 1:53:33Speaker 32: you've got to kind of dig deep because you don't
- 1:53:35Speaker 32: find that in the Breitbart articles or Newsmax articles or
- 1:53:39Speaker 32: anything else.
- 1:53:40Speaker 8: It's just what a great.
- 1:53:41Speaker 32: Piece of news that we have this steel mill coming in,
- 1:53:45Speaker 32: but it doesn't give the details.
- 1:53:47Speaker 2: Now, how did you find this out? Because I find
- 1:53:49Speaker 2: that fascinating and deeply troubling as well. But how do
- 1:53:53Speaker 2: you know all this?
- 1:53:55Speaker 32: Well, it was listed on Breitbart about... Trump and this
- 1:53:58Speaker 32: deal and this big steel plant coming into Iowa. And
- 1:54:02Speaker 32: I thought, well, what does Trump have to do with it?
- 1:54:04Speaker 32: If a steel plant's coming into Iowa, why is Trump
- 1:54:06Speaker 32: getting credit? So I started digging into this plant and
- 1:54:11Speaker 32: found out that it was being funded by the Import
- 1:54:14Speaker 32: Export Bank. So then I said, well, what's the Import
- 1:54:16Speaker 32: Export Bank?
- 1:54:17Speaker 2: Right. I never heard of it. Me neither.
- 1:54:20Speaker 18: So if you look it up, it's been in.
- 1:54:22Speaker 32: Place since the 1920s, and it's supposed to. It's federal
- 1:54:25Speaker 32: government getting their hands and trying to stimulate the economy
- 1:54:28Speaker 32: and trying to do things. But it said its primary
- 1:54:32Speaker 32: purpose is that it'll take on risks for businesses where
- 1:54:35Speaker 32: other banks won't touch it. I mean, other banks are
- 1:54:37Speaker 32: out there that are in business to fund businesses. a
- 1:54:40Speaker 32: big private business like this. So I immediately get skeptical
- 1:54:44Speaker 32: when I see that Trump or anybody else just fill
- 1:54:46Speaker 32: in the blank of somebody in federal government is getting
- 1:54:49Speaker 32: credit for a big, huge, multi-billion dollar, like, let's just
- 1:54:55Speaker 32: take Intel up in Columbus. How's that working out for us?
- 1:54:58Speaker 32: That was Mike DeWine's attempt to buy business coming into Columbus.
- 1:55:02Speaker 32: And I'm not sure they even broke ground. And I
- 1:55:04Speaker 32: don't know if they ever got our $ 1 billion of
- 1:55:06Speaker 32: taxpayer money back or if anybody's even looking into it.
- 1:55:11Speaker 2: Remember that? That was when we were all concerned about
- 1:55:13Speaker 2: chips and Taiwan and all this kind of stuff.
- 1:55:15Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:55:16Speaker 2: And nothing materialized from that as well. Excellence. Yeah. Nothing. Nothing.
- 1:55:21Speaker 1: No, no.
- 1:55:21Speaker 32: A billion dollars of taxpayer money went to Intel on
- 1:55:25Speaker 32: a big promise. And where are the Republicans that run
- 1:55:30Speaker 32: the state of Ohio? Do we have an attorney general
- 1:55:34Speaker 32: going back after that money? Or is everybody sitting on
- 1:55:38Speaker 32: their hands.
- 1:55:40Speaker 4: Doing nothing as usual?
- 1:55:41Speaker 2: I mean, right. My initial my initial question would be,
- 1:55:45Speaker 2: did the money ever transfer to Intel or what was
- 1:55:49Speaker 2: I would want to know more about that, too, because
- 1:55:51Speaker 2: if the money transferred, then what do they do with it?
- 1:55:55Speaker 2: If it didn't, then I'm not as concerned.
- 1:55:58Speaker 32: Yeah, my understanding was that the money transferred and that
- 1:56:02Speaker 32: they maybe broke ground and started coming out of the
- 1:56:04Speaker 32: ground and then found out that the market dropped out
- 1:56:07Speaker 32: of what they had promised. But, you know, they were
- 1:56:09Speaker 32: going to bring all those jobs in. It's just, again,
- 1:56:11Speaker 32: the government is the problem, as has been said so
- 1:56:15Speaker 32: many times. that every time that there is something in
- 1:56:18Speaker 32: the news about some politician's face is plastered on some
- 1:56:23Speaker 32: big jobs coming in, if it's not the free market,
- 1:56:26Speaker 32: be very skeptical that it is our money that's going
- 1:56:30Speaker 32: in it. We're going to be paying the risk. We're
- 1:56:31Speaker 32: holding the bag because of this India.
- 1:56:34Speaker 18: Now think about that.
- 1:56:34Speaker 32: The profits are going over to India. It's not even
- 1:56:37Speaker 32: an American firm. And the last thing I heard, Trump
- 1:56:40Speaker 32: was talking about U.S. Steel was his big play, that
- 1:56:43Speaker 32: we had, quote, a golden share of U.S. Steel, whatever
- 1:56:46Speaker 32: that means. And he got involved in that when Nippon
- 1:56:49Speaker 32: Steel wanted to buy U.S.
- 1:56:51Speaker 2: Steel.
- 1:56:51Speaker 7: He stepped in, and he's got.
- 1:56:53Speaker 32: The naming rights and a bunch of other government overreach.
- 1:56:57Speaker 8: That's just bizarre. So he's not.
- 1:57:01Speaker 32: Taking the risk with his money. He's taking a ton
- 1:57:03Speaker 32: of risk with our money. And if I wanted to
- 1:57:06Speaker 32: buy steel mills or steel stock, I could do that
- 1:57:09Speaker 32: any day I wanted to. But I didn't realize that
- 1:57:11Speaker 32: the FICA line item on my on my pay stub
- 1:57:14Speaker 32: would be going to the federal government that would then be,
- 1:57:17Speaker 32: you know, subsidizing an India based steel mill.
- 1:57:21Speaker 2: That is fascinating. Well said. I thank you. We'll be
- 1:57:25Speaker 2: right back.
- 1:57:25Speaker 4: News Radio 570 WKVN.
- 1:57:26Speaker 17: Nine-year-old boy, one of two, accused of beating and sexually
- 1:57:34Speaker 17: assaulting a five-year-old girl in Cleveland is making a deal
- 1:57:38Speaker 17: with prosecutors.
- 1:57:39Speaker 29: The boy has agreed to plead guilty to charges of
- 1:57:41Speaker 29: attempted rape and felonious assault. We're still waiting to hear
- 1:57:45Speaker 29: on how the 11-year-old girl pleaded. And the Harlem Globetrotters
- 1:57:49Speaker 29: are returning to Ohio this year. They will be at
- 1:57:51Speaker 29: the Schottenstein Center with two shows on December 27th, as
- 1:57:55Speaker 29: well as a show.
- 1:57:56Speaker 2: At Rocket Arena in Cleveland on the 30th.
- 1:57:59Speaker 29: The tour is being hyped as a whole new game
- 1:58:01Speaker 29: that will have new opponents, challenges, and more fan participation.
- 1:58:06Speaker 29: Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m.
- 1:58:07Speaker 2: On Friday.
- 1:58:09Speaker 29: And in the MLB, the Guardians finish their season 85-77,
- 1:58:13Speaker 29: champions of the Central. They'll move on to the ALDS
- 1:58:16Speaker 29: beginning this Saturday in Cleveland.
- 1:58:19Speaker 2: I'm Daniel Barnard.

- 1:58:28Speaker 4: Free never sounded so good.
- 1:58:30Speaker 2: A to Z dependable services. Plumbing, septic, heating, cooling, and
- 1:58:34Speaker 2: one-day baths. Now, Ron Verb on NewsRadio 570 WKBN. All right,
- 1:58:41Speaker 2: so 534, Monday, September 28th, 66 degrees. All right, G2.
- 1:58:51Speaker 8: Good evening, Ron.
- 1:58:52Speaker 14: How are you?
- 1:58:53Speaker 2: A little bit better than you, I think. Yeah. But
- 1:59:02Speaker 2: that's neither here nor there. All right, what do you
- 1:59:06Speaker 2: have to add to the program today?
- 1:59:09Speaker 8: Well, you know, jumping in on the steel conversation, I
- 1:59:11Speaker 8: think the guy that called up a little bit ago
- 1:59:13Speaker 8: that was talking about iron ore and steel and scrap
- 1:59:16Speaker 8: asked some really, really great questions. To answer those, the
- 1:59:20Speaker 8: company has an operation in Minnesota that is a mine.
- 1:59:25Speaker 8: And this steel mill project's been in the works for
- 1:59:27Speaker 8: about 15 years, maybe longer. The idea was originally to build,
- 1:59:33Speaker 8: to restart an old iron ore mine that's been down
- 1:59:37Speaker 8: for many decades up in Minnesota, and then build an
- 1:59:40Speaker 8: iron-making unit there. Now, you know, he'd asked about blast
- 1:59:43Speaker 8: furnaces versus... scrap. And the reality is that now there's
- 1:59:47Speaker 8: new technology called direct reduction, or that produces something called
- 1:59:51Speaker 8: direct produced iron. So they call that DRI. And now,
- 1:59:56Speaker 8: instead of going through the blast furnace route, they could
- 1:59:58Speaker 8: go through these direct reduction units that create little pellets
- 2:00:02Speaker 8: of high concentration and iron ore that can then be
- 2:00:07Speaker 8: used in electric arc furnace alongside scrap. So the path
- 2:00:12Speaker 8: is you go from the iron ore mine to into
- 2:00:14Speaker 8: a DRI furnace that creates a little iron pellet that
- 2:00:18Speaker 8: goes then into an electric arc furnace along with scrap
- 2:00:22Speaker 8: to make your final steel. And so you've eliminated the
- 2:00:28Speaker 8: steel-making furnace that you would have at a blast furnace operation,
- 2:00:31Speaker 8: and you've eliminated the blast furnace itself, which of course
- 2:00:34Speaker 8: would make iron ore. You just need natural gas, and
- 2:00:38Speaker 8: that's why people like it so much, because the energy
- 2:00:41Speaker 8: costs are lower and some ways. And a DRI facility
- 2:00:46Speaker 8: could be started and stopped more easily than a blast furnace,
- 2:00:50Speaker 8: and their operating costs could be somewhat stable compared to
- 2:00:53Speaker 8: a blast furnace, assuming they have a really good supply
- 2:00:57Speaker 8: of natural gas, which they have to have. So the
- 2:00:59Speaker 8: idea was to build that up in Minnesota, but this
- 2:01:03Speaker 8: company's been in fights with Minnesota for the entire 15 years,
- 2:01:07Speaker 8: and lots of demands that they start this iron ore
- 2:01:09Speaker 8: mine that they don't, and they couldn't get it to
- 2:01:12Speaker 8: work out. So They have to put it somewhere where
- 2:01:15Speaker 8: they can move the steel efficiently and where they can
- 2:01:18Speaker 8: get to that mill efficiently from Minnesota. Now, they won't
- 2:01:21Speaker 8: put the steelmaking in Minnesota because Minnesota is run by
- 2:01:25Speaker 8: leftist lunatics and it's just unfriendly. So they're down now
- 2:01:29Speaker 8: in the lower states looking for a location, and I
- 2:01:33Speaker 8: don't think they've actually said where they would put it.
- 2:01:36Speaker 8: Talking about somewhere along the Mississippi River in Iowa because
- 2:01:39Speaker 8: that would allow them to ship their steel downriver by barge,
- 2:01:44Speaker 8: I believe. So it's a great project. And to be
- 2:01:48Speaker 8: $ 15 billion with 7.5 or 7.7 million tons means they're
- 2:01:52Speaker 8: going to have, at that steelmaking site, they would have
- 2:01:55Speaker 8: certainly the electric arc furnaces, the rolling mills. They'd have
- 2:01:58Speaker 8: probably cold mills. They might go all the way down
- 2:01:59Speaker 8: to galve lines and paint lines. So what's shipping out
- 2:02:03Speaker 8: the end of that mill is a very high-value product.
- 2:02:06Speaker 8: The logic of all that is fantastic. But the comment
- 2:02:09Speaker 8: that I made about scrap is really important. First of all,
- 2:02:13Speaker 8: If all you have is scrap, you end up making
- 2:02:16Speaker 8: steel that gets dirtier and dirtier each time you recycle
- 2:02:19Speaker 8: the scrap, if you will, right? Because there's some copper
- 2:02:22Speaker 8: in there and other materials in there, and there's sort
- 2:02:24Speaker 8: of impurities. And you just can't get that kind of
- 2:02:26Speaker 8: high-quality steel that you need for things like automotive panels
- 2:02:30Speaker 8: if you're making it purely out of scrap and there's
- 2:02:33Speaker 8: no raw iron in it. Now, of course, Nucor, he mentioned,
- 2:02:38Speaker 8: uses HBI, you know, hot briquetted iron and other, you know,
- 2:02:41Speaker 8: pig iron in their furnaces. to clean up their scrap, right,
- 2:02:45Speaker 8: to dilute out the impurities. But you could theoretically, not
- 2:02:50Speaker 8: even theoretically, you really can run an electric arc furnace
- 2:02:53Speaker 8: entirely on DRI if you want to. Now, there's a
- 2:02:57Speaker 8: company called Cleveland Cliffs that most people know, or now
- 2:03:01Speaker 8: it's called different things, but Cleveland Cliffs actually operates those
- 2:03:04Speaker 8: mines up in Minnesota as well. They too were, like,
- 2:03:08Speaker 8: they were looking for customers and couldn't, necessarily find them.
- 2:03:11Speaker 8: A lot of their customers were going away. Blast furnaces
- 2:03:13Speaker 8: were going away. So they built one of these DRI
- 2:03:17Speaker 8: plants in Toledo. Gosh, it must have been 10, 12
- 2:03:20Speaker 8: years ago. And it was a very successful project. And
- 2:03:24Speaker 8: they began to use those DRI pellets, even in their
- 2:03:27Speaker 8: own blast furnace operations, by taking that DRI and dropping
- 2:03:30Speaker 8: it right in the steel furnace, if you will, like
- 2:03:33Speaker 8: the bop shop or whatever they call it at each plant.
- 2:03:36Speaker 8: So So this is great technology. The logic of having
- 2:03:41Speaker 8: DRI up there and a mill not in Minnesota makes
- 2:03:45Speaker 8: sense just because of the business environment. And this will
- 2:03:49Speaker 8: be a plant that, if it gets built, has a
- 2:03:51Speaker 8: tremendous amount of high-quality pure iron in it. So that's
- 2:03:57Speaker 8: all great. Now, this other caller that mentioned XM Bank,
- 2:04:02Speaker 8: I don't know why the XM Bank is involved in this.
- 2:04:04Speaker 8: I agree with you. The company should get its own financing.
- 2:04:06Speaker 8: And it's tried for many, many years. There are maybe
- 2:04:10Speaker 8: some reputational issues and other things that make it harder.
- 2:04:13Speaker 8: But this should be privately financed. The government shouldn't be
- 2:04:16Speaker 8: doing this. It's not $ 10 billion, though. The Ex-Im banks
- 2:04:19Speaker 8: looked at $ 10 billion and approved $ 770 million, I believe.
- 2:04:23Speaker 8: I don't think they've approved a $ 10 million loan here. Now,
- 2:04:26Speaker 8: you raised the question, Ron, will this mill get built?
- 2:04:29Speaker 8: And that remains a question because if they're not announcing
- 2:04:31Speaker 8: the site, it means they still have a couple states
- 2:04:34Speaker 8: in play. And, you know, everybody understands this. When you're
- 2:04:37Speaker 8: trying to site a big business like a chip plant
- 2:04:40Speaker 8: or a steel mill or an automotive plant, they like
- 2:04:43Speaker 8: to get two or three states to start negotiating against
- 2:04:46Speaker 8: each other to see who will give the best tax
- 2:04:48Speaker 8: abatements and who will give the best power, you know,
- 2:04:51Speaker 8: which one they could get the best power rates in
- 2:04:54Speaker 8: and all of that. So I would guess that they
- 2:04:57Speaker 8: haven't yet finalized the site selection because they're still playing
- 2:05:02Speaker 8: both for land purchase and for for state support. They're
- 2:05:07Speaker 8: playing a game of competing states against each other. Now,
- 2:05:10Speaker 8: Illinois would be a tough one to go into. You
- 2:05:12Speaker 8: might as well just build Minnesota. But Indiana is, of course,
- 2:05:16Speaker 8: where a lot of steelmaking is. You mentioned Nucor there
- 2:05:19Speaker 8: in Indiana. And so it could be something where Indiana
- 2:05:23Speaker 8: would come. Now, to get to Ohio, the efficient way
- 2:05:26Speaker 8: to do it would be to take the pellets, the
- 2:05:28Speaker 8: DRI pellets out of the lake, out of Minnesota, if
- 2:05:32Speaker 8: you could get them into a lake or if you
- 2:05:34Speaker 8: get them into a freighter that goes across Lake Erie
- 2:05:36Speaker 8: and drop them, say, you know, in Ashtabula and build
- 2:05:39Speaker 8: an Ashtabula, that can make sense. One of the challenges is,
- 2:05:43Speaker 8: of course, it's, you know, you've got weather issues and
- 2:05:46Speaker 8: other things that affect lake traffic. So it's to be
- 2:05:50Speaker 8: really consistent and have that material there all the time.
- 2:05:53Speaker 8: That's why LTV and Cleveland Cliffs and whomever put out
- 2:05:58Speaker 8: all these plans would stockpile iron ore pellets during the
- 2:06:02Speaker 8: months when the water was open so that during the
- 2:06:04Speaker 8: winter freeze they'd have enough iron ore to run. That
- 2:06:08Speaker 8: was always a major issue for all the steel plants
- 2:06:11Speaker 8: operating there in Cleveland, and that would be an issue here. Also,
- 2:06:15Speaker 8: this DRI doesn't transfer as well as iron ore, and
- 2:06:18Speaker 8: if you want to be consistent, you're going to run
- 2:06:22Speaker 8: it in unit trains if you can make the logistics
- 2:06:25Speaker 8: for that work. You know, you've got the Laker side,
- 2:06:27Speaker 8: but that's going to compete with U.S.
- 2:06:28Speaker 14: Trains.
- 2:06:29Speaker 8: And if you're running trains, Ohio might or might not
- 2:06:31Speaker 8: work out. You've just got to look at the transit numbers,
- 2:06:34Speaker 8: the transportation numbers, which will be a factor. So, you know,
- 2:06:38Speaker 8: it's a great project. I hope it happens. $ 15 billion
- 2:06:41Speaker 8: would be great. The fact that the company's Indian, it
- 2:06:44Speaker 8: doesn't really matter. And then somebody mentioned U.S. Steel. I
- 2:06:48Speaker 8: think the guy said something almost, like, derisive about U.S.
- 2:06:52Speaker 10: Steel.
- 2:06:52Speaker 8: Listen, here's the deal. US Steel was acquired by Nippon.
- 2:06:57Speaker 8: This company is the second largest producer in the world.
- 2:07:00Speaker 8: Nippon makes more than 50 million tons globally. They have
- 2:07:04Speaker 8: tremendous technology and unlimited access to capital. So you've got
- 2:07:08Speaker 8: US Steel, which has always sort of struggled and had
- 2:07:12Speaker 8: a hard time surviving, had a hard time investing in
- 2:07:14Speaker 8: their assets the way they needed to, hard time keeping
- 2:07:17Speaker 8: their productivity up. Nippon takes all that off the table.
- 2:07:21Speaker 8: The US Steel production facilities are far more secure. in
- 2:07:25Speaker 8: terms of access to capital and continued operation with a
- 2:07:28Speaker 8: Trump government and a Nippon owner than they have been
- 2:07:31Speaker 8: in years. However, there are mills like the ones in
- 2:07:34Speaker 8: Pennsylvania that the radicals wanted, and it was a constant
- 2:07:37Speaker 8: battle for U.S. Steel to keep those plants open. So
- 2:07:42Speaker 8: I'm talking about, you know, Edgar Thompson and so on.
- 2:07:47Speaker 8: so this would be a great deal of it gets done.
- 2:07:49Speaker 8: I don't understand the negative thing about U.S. Steel.
- 2:07:51Speaker 18: I don't get that.
- 2:07:52Speaker 8: I mean, the truth is the Trump administration doing what
- 2:07:54Speaker 8: they did is one of the reasons why the Nippon
- 2:07:57Speaker 8: Steel deal got done, and that deal was... really good
- 2:08:00Speaker 8: for anybody who works at U.S.
- 2:08:02Speaker 2: Steel.
- 2:08:03Speaker 8: So I just don't get the negativity there, but I
- 2:08:06Speaker 8: would certainly agree that the Ex-Im Bank ought not be supporting,
- 2:08:10Speaker 8: really financing something like this iron ore mine. Now, their investment,
- 2:08:16Speaker 8: if it's $ 770 million, the iron ore mine would have
- 2:08:19Speaker 8: been at least a two, maybe two and a half
- 2:08:21Speaker 8: billion dollar total investment. So the company certainly had to
- 2:08:24Speaker 8: come up with some private financing to make it happen.
- 2:08:27Speaker 8: And I believe that mine is now in production. So
- 2:08:31Speaker 8: the XM provided a piece of it. And I agree,
- 2:08:34Speaker 8: I don't think that's good practice, but it's certainly not
- 2:08:38Speaker 8: inconsistent when you've got that ridiculous chips bill putting money
- 2:08:43Speaker 8: into companies like Intel that don't have any of the
- 2:08:45Speaker 8: financing challenges of an iron ore mine or steel producer.
- 2:08:49Speaker 8: So there's my, you know, just sort of quick two-second
- 2:08:52Speaker 8: take on that project, trying to respond to those two callers.
- 2:08:55Speaker 2: Yeah, but remember, with that Intel bill or money that
- 2:09:01Speaker 2: went Intel's ways, look at that big, beautiful structure. Oh,
- 2:09:04Speaker 2: wait a minute, they didn't build anything. Never mind.
- 2:09:07Speaker 8: And guess, you know, and then Samsung got like $ 6. 5
- 2:09:09Speaker 8: billion for a project in Texas. Look, Samsung has complete
- 2:09:14Speaker 8: and total access to capital. They can... finance anything they want.
- 2:09:17Speaker 8: Why is the U.S. taxpayer buying these people capacity? I mean,
- 2:09:21Speaker 8: truth be told, this is one of the worst things
- 2:09:23Speaker 8: about this sort of Soviet model that we're adopting. You know,
- 2:09:27Speaker 8: just the fact that I'd agree with the one caller
- 2:09:29Speaker 8: that the government should not be investing in production capacity
- 2:09:34Speaker 8: for Samsung and Intel and.
- 2:09:38Speaker 14: A steel plant.
- 2:09:40Speaker 2: You know what the government should be investing in, true
- 2:09:42Speaker 2: or false? We need more refineries in the United States
- 2:09:45Speaker 2: of America. We've got a huge problem in this country
- 2:09:48Speaker 2: as far as refining is concerned. Colin?
- 2:09:51Speaker 8: Well, I don't think the government should be investing in them,
- 2:09:53Speaker 8: but I do think that they should declare a state
- 2:09:56Speaker 8: of national emergency, declare a national emergency, and they should
- 2:10:00Speaker 8: force California to stop attacking the refineries there. And I
- 2:10:05Speaker 8: think they should get with the EPA or whomever they
- 2:10:08Speaker 8: have to get with to make sure that the path
- 2:10:11Speaker 8: to building more refinery capacity is cleared. Now, that doesn't
- 2:10:14Speaker 8: mean we want dirty water and oil in the sky. No,
- 2:10:19Speaker 8: that's just ridiculous. You could build refineries and build them
- 2:10:22Speaker 8: to be clean and efficient, and modern technology is available
- 2:10:26Speaker 8: to make these better than they've ever been, but we
- 2:10:28Speaker 8: desperately need to replace the capacity that was shut down,
- 2:10:32Speaker 8: that was burned down, that was some East Coast stuff,
- 2:10:35Speaker 8: And we need to replace that has been converted into
- 2:10:38Speaker 8: these ridiculous biofuel projects. So there's no question that a new,
- 2:10:44Speaker 8: hyper-efficient refinery or two should be done. But, again, the
- 2:10:48Speaker 8: government's role is simply to clear the deck, to clear
- 2:10:51Speaker 8: the path. All the oil companies can finance their own.
- 2:10:57Speaker 8: And the federal role, because this really truly is a
- 2:11:00Speaker 8: matter of national security, The federal role in this California
- 2:11:03Speaker 8: thing should be that they just simply step in and
- 2:11:06Speaker 8: tell the state, you've got to back off. You cannot
- 2:11:09Speaker 8: continue to drive our refining capacity offline and make us
- 2:11:13Speaker 8: increasingly dependent upon imported products from offshore refineries. That supply
- 2:11:19Speaker 8: chain is dangerous and long and expensive. This is, in fact,
- 2:11:23Speaker 8: a matter of national security.
- 2:11:26Speaker 2: All I'm saying is it's an immediate need if your
- 2:11:29Speaker 2: current refineries are at 98% to start building refineries around
- 2:11:35Speaker 2: the clock. 24-7, because we need to get them online.
- 2:11:40Speaker 2: I mean, it's got to be the highest priority. And
- 2:11:43Speaker 2: somehow that never gets done unless you have some government
- 2:11:45Speaker 2: incentive or government trying to kick them in the arse
- 2:11:49Speaker 2: to go. Because you can see, as I read earlier,
- 2:11:52Speaker 2: we haven't built a new one since 77. Now, granted,
- 2:11:55Speaker 2: they say the old ones have been added onto and expanded.
- 2:11:58Speaker 2: They did make that point. But we don't have a
- 2:12:00Speaker 2: new one here, and we're at capacity. So.
- 2:12:03Speaker 8: If you're to rank them, I'd put refineries first. I'd
- 2:12:06Speaker 8: put nuclear plants second. That steel plant, if it's actually real,
- 2:12:10Speaker 8: would be something that would fit back in third, and
- 2:12:12Speaker 8: the data centers would all come behind that.
- 2:12:15Speaker 2: Well, where does windmills and solar panels come in?
- 2:12:18Speaker 8: Those would come in with the dynamite being used by
- 2:12:20Speaker 8: Chevron to blow up some of their windmills because they
- 2:12:24Speaker 8: just simply are not green, and they're not efficient, and
- 2:12:27Speaker 8: they can't maintain them, and they don't last during the
- 2:12:31Speaker 8: lifespan that they're told. So I don't remember exactly where
- 2:12:34Speaker 8: this is right now, but Chevron was dynamo some of
- 2:12:37Speaker 8: their ridiculous windmill projects. Look, you know, you want to
- 2:12:41Speaker 8: build a windmill, build a windmill, but just like the
- 2:12:43Speaker 8: steel plant and just like the refineries and the data
- 2:12:46Speaker 8: centers and the chip plants, the government should not be
- 2:12:48Speaker 8: investing in or subsidizing those. And with the windmills and
- 2:12:52Speaker 8: solar farms, we, the taxpayers, subsidize all of it. And
- 2:12:57Speaker 8: that's just not the right thing to do. That's not
- 2:12:59Speaker 8: the role of a government if we would live in
- 2:13:02Speaker 8: a capitalist system. That's why you hear me keep saying
- 2:13:04Speaker 8: we've just got to get back to free market capitalism.
- 2:13:07Speaker 8: We've got to get back to a rules-based economy and
- 2:13:10Speaker 8: not this weird government-slash-giant-corporate-no-antitrust-law thing that we are now living under.
- 2:13:21Speaker 2: Yeah, it's just... It's bizarre times, but refineries got to
- 2:13:26Speaker 2: be a high priority, to say the least. I mean, because.
- 2:13:29Speaker 18: Number one.
- 2:13:30Speaker 2: You got to shut down. There's always accidents. You got
- 2:13:33Speaker 2: to shut down for winter fuel, summer fuel. And if
- 2:13:35Speaker 2: you're running at capacity... It's just a problem waiting to happen,
- 2:13:40Speaker 2: and it just hasn't been addressed. And I don't know
- 2:13:43Speaker 2: why private investors just– it's so damn expensive, don't want
- 2:13:46Speaker 2: to get into it, because they don't know where– a
- 2:13:49Speaker 2: lot of times you don't know where things are going
- 2:13:50Speaker 2: from one administration to the next. That's what the problem is.
- 2:13:53Speaker 2: There's lack of, really, consistency on some issues that should
- 2:13:58Speaker 2: have consistency on it, this being one of them.
- 2:14:01Speaker 8: That's right. And you look at what they did to
- 2:14:02Speaker 8: the coal-fired power plants. You look at what they're doing
- 2:14:04Speaker 8: to the refineries. I mean, to make that investment– and
- 2:14:07Speaker 8: have the threat of a Democrat administration taking over, Democrats
- 2:14:11Speaker 8: taking over Congress, what do you do then? You know,
- 2:14:14Speaker 8: you just burn your project down. So it's a real threat.
- 2:14:20Speaker 2: It's a huge threat. An absolute huge threat. How about
- 2:14:23Speaker 2: the fact that these terrorists that they got in the UK,
- 2:14:27Speaker 2: I don't know if you follow this story or not,
- 2:14:29Speaker 2: they let them go on, they released them on bonds.
- 2:14:32Speaker 2: They posted their bonds.
- 2:14:33Speaker 8: Oh, I was talking to a guy in Ireland today
- 2:14:34Speaker 8: on this.
- 2:14:35Speaker 2: This is.
- 2:14:36Speaker 8: So what's going on in the U.K. regarding the invasion,
- 2:14:39Speaker 8: you should all be looking at that. Look at Ireland
- 2:14:42Speaker 8: specifically in the U.K. Look at Germany and recognize that
- 2:14:45Speaker 8: that was the plan for Ohio. If you remember back
- 2:14:48Speaker 8: a few years when we were talking about this thing
- 2:14:50Speaker 8: called Thrive and all these different nonprofits that were getting
- 2:14:54Speaker 8: all this money to figure out how to bring migrants
- 2:14:56Speaker 8: into the Ohio Valley, and they were kind of coming in,
- 2:14:59Speaker 8: I think, from, say, Cleveland to Akron over to Pittsburgh
- 2:15:03Speaker 8: and up to Erie. It would have been potentially hundreds
- 2:15:06Speaker 8: of thousands. And that stopped because Donald Trump got elected.
- 2:15:10Speaker 8: But you will not have a say in that once
- 2:15:13Speaker 8: the radicals assume control again. And they will change your neighborhood.
- 2:15:17Speaker 8: You will end up living in some weird combination of
- 2:15:20Speaker 8: the Middle East and Northern Africa. You're not going to
- 2:15:25Speaker 8: get a chance to object to what they're going to
- 2:15:28Speaker 8: do to you. And it's coming because, remember, a few
- 2:15:31Speaker 8: years ago we were talking about this on this show.
- 2:15:33Speaker 8: They kept talking about repopulation. They said, well, we want
- 2:15:36Speaker 8: to get Americans here, but we'll take them from wherever
- 2:15:39Speaker 8: we get them. But we're only going to bring in
- 2:15:40Speaker 8: engineers and doctors or something. It was ridiculous. They know
- 2:15:44Speaker 8: they're not going to get enough people to move in from,
- 2:15:47Speaker 8: you know, Kansas and Oklahoma. They're going to Chennai and Mumbai.
- 2:15:53Speaker 8: And the infrastructure globally to bring migrants into the United States,
- 2:15:57Speaker 8: settle them and get them jobs is astonishing. I was
- 2:16:00Speaker 8: reading about a job training program today for teachers. And
- 2:16:04Speaker 8: they're going into India to get teachers. They're not going
- 2:16:07Speaker 8: into Baltimore. They're not going into Los Angeles to get teachers.
- 2:16:10Speaker 8: They're going into India.
- 2:16:11Speaker 2: They're not inspiring America's kids to go into teaching. There's
- 2:16:17Speaker 2: no drive to do that.
- 2:16:19Speaker 4: It's crazy.
- 2:16:21Speaker 8: This is national suicide. But if you want to see
- 2:16:24Speaker 8: where it's leading, look at Ireland, the U.K., France, and Germany.
- 2:16:28Speaker 8: And you'll see that, of course, if you're living in
- 2:16:29Speaker 8: some beautiful French town that's not been affected, you think
- 2:16:33Speaker 8: everything's the same. It's not changed. But if you walk
- 2:16:35Speaker 8: through a city, you'll see it quite has changed.
- 2:16:38Speaker 2: Stand by. Back with more in a minute. We're here
- 2:16:41Speaker 2: tonight until 6.
- 2:16:45Speaker 4: If you run a business, you're WKBN.
- 2:16:47Speaker 2: All right, so talking with G2 on News Radio 570 WKBN.
- 2:16:51Speaker 2: But these guys put on, when we talk about it,
- 2:16:55Speaker 2: can you imagine, oh, you're a terrorist, potentially, and we're
- 2:16:57Speaker 2: going to let you out on bond? I mean, what
- 2:17:00Speaker 2: were they doing there? Why do they have these vans?
- 2:17:01Speaker 2: I mean, it does make a lick of sense. But,
- 2:17:05Speaker 2: of course, it's the UK.
- 2:17:07Speaker 8: Well, exactly, and it's clear that anyone who is of
- 2:17:10Speaker 8: Middle Eastern descent or African descent has priority over anyone
- 2:17:14Speaker 8: who's English. Remember, I mean, I know I talk about
- 2:17:17Speaker 8: this stuff all the time, and it makes people crazy,
- 2:17:19Speaker 8: but the reality is they've had Pakistani group in London
- 2:17:24Speaker 8: since the 80s. They have raped a quarter of a
- 2:17:26Speaker 8: million English girls, and the government knew about it and
- 2:17:29Speaker 8: protected them. And you may think that's crazy, so go
- 2:17:32Speaker 8: look it up yourself, but don't expect to find it
- 2:17:34Speaker 8: on CNN. You've got to go do the work to
- 2:17:36Speaker 8: get that. There have been MPs that have stood up
- 2:17:39Speaker 8: and demanded investigations, and the parliament has refused to launch them.
- 2:17:44Speaker 8: It is just this thing that the globalists are doing
- 2:17:48Speaker 8: where they want to just this western civilization which frankly
- 2:17:53Speaker 8: they just.
- 2:17:53Speaker 2: Despise I'm shifting gears because time is limited let's talk
- 2:17:58Speaker 2: about the midterms and let's be realistic it's September it's
- 2:18:02Speaker 2: not November yet it's getting closer can Trump pull a rabbit.
- 2:18:09Speaker 8: Out of the hat It'd have to be one heck
- 2:18:11Speaker 8: of a magic rabbit. I mean, he's in trouble here.
- 2:18:15Speaker 8: If you go all the way back to January of
- 2:18:17Speaker 8: 25 when we started talking about how the House was
- 2:18:20Speaker 8: going on recess again, I know I don't have these right,
- 2:18:25Speaker 8: but let's say they were in session 44 days or
- 2:18:27Speaker 8: something out of the first 100. Well, I expected 100 days.
- 2:18:30Speaker 8: I don't want to hear about evenings and weekends and holidays.
- 2:18:34Speaker 8: I expected 100 out of 100 days. They worked halftime.
- 2:18:39Speaker 8: And then they made it crystal clear they were not
- 2:18:41Speaker 8: going to advance the agenda. Then you get the Doge,
- 2:18:44Speaker 8: you know, Congress saying no to Doge. These are Republicans
- 2:18:46Speaker 8: in Congress. Well, people noticed that and they know who
- 2:18:48Speaker 8: did it. Of course, the Democrats didn't want Doge either
- 2:18:51Speaker 8: because that's how they feed their political machine is through
- 2:18:54Speaker 8: these government grants and things. And then you had the
- 2:18:57Speaker 8: Epstein files, just a horrible, poorly handled thing, as we
- 2:19:00Speaker 8: talked about many times. And it doesn't matter they didn't
- 2:19:04Speaker 8: campaign on them. People wanted it, dealt with and trusted
- 2:19:07Speaker 8: him to do it. And he didn't. And we know why.
- 2:19:10Speaker 8: I think we know why. I think it's he cut
- 2:19:12Speaker 8: a deal to get the big deal done, and he
- 2:19:14Speaker 8: cut a deal with Israel on this. But, you know,
- 2:19:17Speaker 8: then the big beautiful deal gets done, and that's great
- 2:19:20Speaker 8: because it extends the tax cuts, but we already had
- 2:19:23Speaker 8: the tax cuts, so we didn't have any pain relief there. Right?
- 2:19:27Speaker 8: And you roll forward to a couple other things, and then,
- 2:19:29Speaker 8: of course, the war. When he did the attack on
- 2:19:32Speaker 8: Iran in 25, my first reaction was anger. And then
- 2:19:37Speaker 8: I realized what he did, and I thought this was
- 2:19:39Speaker 8: just genius, the way he did this. Very little loss
- 2:19:41Speaker 8: of life, takes the nuclear threat off the table, addresses it,
- 2:19:44Speaker 8: stops Israel, stops their constant demand that we go to
- 2:19:48Speaker 8: war with Iran, stops the neocons, stops the CIA. It
- 2:19:51Speaker 8: was a beautiful stroke of genius.
- 2:19:52Speaker 2: That's when he dropped the bunker buster.
- 2:19:55Speaker 8: Yes, and exploded a plant that a lot of people
- 2:19:59Speaker 8: don't think had any nuclear devices in them. It was genius.
- 2:20:02Speaker 8: But then the next summer, in February, when he goes
- 2:20:05Speaker 8: ahead and and attacks, and we have this war. And again,
- 2:20:09Speaker 8: I understand the price of gas is not as high
- 2:20:11Speaker 8: as it was in 2020 under Biden. He hasn't used
- 2:20:13Speaker 8: as much oil out of the Strategic Petroleum Reserve as
- 2:20:15Speaker 8: the Democrats did, not for a crisis, not for strategy,
- 2:20:19Speaker 8: for politics, right, to protect 22 and 24 electors. So
- 2:20:23Speaker 8: I understand it's just not that bad, but the truth
- 2:20:26Speaker 8: is America's freaked out. And then most people seem to
- 2:20:29Speaker 8: believe that all this inflation happened since February 28th.
- 2:20:31Speaker 11: No one.
- 2:20:34Speaker 8: It's just crazy to watch how Americans are so simple
- 2:20:38Speaker 8: and aren't really paying attention. Many things have come down
- 2:20:41Speaker 8: in price. You know, they stopped killing all the chickens.
- 2:20:44Speaker 8: Eggs came down, right? He relieved a trillion dollars of
- 2:20:48Speaker 8: useless regulations. Inflation came down. But he didn't reverse inflation,
- 2:20:53Speaker 8: and then they saw the gas price, and they forgot
- 2:20:55Speaker 8: about all the kids that were trafficked. They forgot about
- 2:20:57Speaker 8: the fentanyl deaths. They forgot about the tens of millions
- 2:21:00Speaker 8: of illegal aliens entered. They forgot about all that. Also,
- 2:21:03Speaker 8: the H-1B issue, he lightened up on that in response
- 2:21:07Speaker 8: to India's request.
- 2:21:08Speaker 2: We'll have to pick it up tomorrow with further thoughts
- 2:21:10Speaker 2: on it, all right?
- 2:21:12Speaker 18: Okay.
- 2:21:12Speaker 2: All right, out of time. Stay tuned. Rockport coming up.
