- 0:15Speaker 1: The girl is my mistake when you and your property?
- 0:20Speaker 2: But what's going on? Everybody? I'm the one, the only
- 0:22Speaker 2: that w oh okay, I e joined here by my
- 0:24Speaker 2: normal cast of misfits. We've got everybody's favorite weird kid
- 0:28Speaker 2: in your science class, Dexter.
- 0:31Speaker 3: Hello, everybody.
- 0:32Speaker 2: And we've got cool Robbie. He's cooler than the rest
- 0:36Speaker 2: of you, because.
- 0:38Speaker 1: I don't know about the rest of you.
- 0:41Speaker 2: Everyone out there listening, Cole, Robbie is better than you.
- 0:45Speaker 4: I'm better than you two, but not everyone listening.
- 0:48Speaker 2: Oh wow, that's okay, better than us two in what way?
- 0:54Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 0:54Speaker 4: You're the one who started this one.
- 0:56Speaker 2: I'm sure I don't know what. I'm not the one
- 0:59Speaker 2: who's like, I'm cool, guys, but you guys aren't.
- 1:02Speaker 4: I never said that.
- 1:03Speaker 2: Nah, you kind of did off air. You kind of did.
- 1:07Speaker 2: I wanted to add another segment into our thing today,
- 1:10Speaker 2: but I think that's more of an Arcons corner. I
- 1:11Speaker 2: think I'm going to add to Arcons corner. I'm going
- 1:15Speaker 2: to add a off topic segment where we talk about
- 1:18Speaker 2: shit my wife Google today. You guys ready for this one?
- 1:24Speaker 2: I gotta I gotta tell somebody because I couldn't imagine
- 1:27Speaker 2: that I heard words the words that like this came
- 1:29Speaker 2: out of her mouth. This is not something we normally
- 1:32Speaker 2: do on Altered Corner. This is more of an Arcons
- 1:35Speaker 2: Corner topic because we talk things like, you know, national
- 1:41Speaker 2: National Colon Awareness Month. So welcome to the segment, shit
- 1:47Speaker 2: my wife google today? My wife literally googled today? Does
- 1:54Speaker 2: my asshole have taste buds?
- 1:58Speaker 3: Well, you need an explanation here.
- 2:03Speaker 2: Yeah, so some things happened and we got to talking
- 2:06Speaker 2: about hot sauce. I'm not gonna tell you why we
- 2:09Speaker 2: were talking about hot sauce. It's a little dirty, but
- 2:13Speaker 2: we're talking about hot sauce. And she's like, no, you
- 2:17Speaker 2: can't do that. Haven't you ever taken a poop and
- 2:20Speaker 2: like it burns your butt on the way out? And
- 2:22Speaker 2: I was like no. She's like, yeah, your asshole has
- 2:26Speaker 2: taste buds and I was like the fuck. I was like,
- 2:30Speaker 2: who told you this? And she's like, you just got
- 2:33Speaker 2: to look it up, and I was like, I want
- 2:35Speaker 2: you to look it up right now. Your asshole does
- 2:37Speaker 2: not have taste buds. So we have not find out
- 2:40Speaker 2: your asshole doesn't have taste buds.
- 2:43Speaker 4: Yeah, definitely hot that's kind of like the meme where
- 2:49Speaker 4: like if you dip your uh.
- 2:52Speaker 3: Yeah and soy sauce.
- 2:56Speaker 2: Yeah no, no, yeah, it doesn't work like that. But
- 3:00Speaker 2: welcome to the world I live in.
- 3:04Speaker 4: What a what a wonderful world.
- 3:06Speaker 2: We got a great we got I figured, you know,
- 3:09Speaker 2: since we're doing kind of a real more relaxed show today,
- 3:14Speaker 2: we're going to get into some lore, some pretty what
- 3:19Speaker 2: do you call relevant lore. The whole world's been talking,
- 3:24Speaker 2: the whole altered the whole Altered community has been talking
- 3:27Speaker 2: about it.
- 3:29Speaker 4: Uh yeah, No, that is actually very fair to say.
- 3:32Speaker 2: I don't know the obsession, but everyone's talking about it.
- 3:36Speaker 4: If you are hearing this now you have to remain
- 3:40Speaker 4: until the lore segment of the episode.
- 3:43Speaker 2: You might as well because it is spicy, I guess.
- 3:49Speaker 2: And then today we're talking alternate formats. I like alternate formats.
- 3:53Speaker 2: Alternate formats are my favorite way to play card games period,
- 3:58Speaker 2: and the story when I play.
- 3:59Speaker 3: Matt AULTI formats at all.
- 4:02Speaker 2: Why there's so much fun.
- 4:04Speaker 3: I like how the game is played, and I like
- 4:06Speaker 3: playing by the regular rules. I don't like change. I
- 4:09Speaker 3: don't like trying new things.
- 4:10Speaker 2: I think it ends years old. Do you eat dinner
- 4:14Speaker 2: at four.
- 4:17Speaker 3: I will likely try alternate formats once, and I prefer
- 4:22Speaker 3: the normal game is what.
- 4:23Speaker 2: Man Commander is way better than normal magic.
- 4:27Speaker 4: That is true.
- 4:28Speaker 3: I don't blame it.
- 4:30Speaker 2: Yeah, well, I mean I dabble, that's about it.
- 4:35Speaker 3: I wish been playing a lot of Baltasault recently, and
- 4:39Speaker 3: that's good. But it's only good when you know you
- 4:41Speaker 3: have three to five people, and if you have more
- 4:43Speaker 3: than that, playing one on one is always more fun
- 4:46Speaker 3: for me.
- 4:47Speaker 4: So when when you're saying this, Dexter, does that include
- 4:51Speaker 4: draft and sealed? Because I thought you like.
- 4:53Speaker 3: No, no, no, no, I love draft and sealed. That still
- 4:56Speaker 3: to me counts as like regular one v one is
- 4:59Speaker 3: like the regular format, and that's great. I don't like, Okay,
- 5:02Speaker 3: I typically don't like like multiplayer modes or other game.
- 5:08Speaker 2: I love multiplayer modes. I love talking shit, Saul.
- 5:13Speaker 4: Multiplayer is good for that as.
- 5:16Speaker 2: That is sit talking central right like that's and I
- 5:21Speaker 2: mean I love talking shit. I can talk shit really well,
- 5:26Speaker 2: like Grade A. I was talking shit right before we
- 5:30Speaker 2: came into this cast.
- 5:32Speaker 4: Yeah. The good news for Dexter is I think the
- 5:36Speaker 4: only format out of the formats we're going to talk
- 5:39Speaker 4: about that is more than one of you. One is
- 5:43Speaker 4: multiple player.
- 5:44Speaker 3: It's just that one multiplayer format.
- 5:46Speaker 4: And multiplayer in altered is actually a lot of fun.
- 5:50Speaker 4: There's some really interesting dynamics that can come out if
- 5:57Speaker 4: you choose to go into it with a plan with
- 6:01Speaker 4: your teammate. You can do like a support player versus
- 6:06Speaker 4: you know, an agro player, things like that.
- 6:10Speaker 2: So can can I just say that I feel sealed
- 6:14Speaker 2: in draft, no matter what game you're playing, are the
- 6:18Speaker 2: most skill testing, the most skill testing variants. Yeah, you
- 6:24Speaker 2: will find out if you are a good player in
- 6:26Speaker 2: any game by sealed a draft.
- 6:31Speaker 3: There is always some luck to it, like if you
- 6:33Speaker 3: pull multiple busted uniques and then you end up winning.
- 6:37Speaker 2: But I may well sure, but I feel like in
- 6:41Speaker 2: any game you play, seal sealed is a little more luck,
- 6:45Speaker 2: but draft is a lot more skill. Yes, I would
- 6:49Speaker 2: agree with it, but both both of those formats really
- 6:53Speaker 2: push a player to be a good player because you
- 6:59Speaker 2: don't have all the pieces and you have to make
- 7:01Speaker 2: do with what you have.
- 7:03Speaker 4: Right, so yielding a draft deck that's consistent and performs
- 7:10Speaker 4: well is is a skill. I think the only outsider
- 7:16Speaker 4: to alter it is if Sigismar is allowed. If Siggy
- 7:21Speaker 4: is banned, then yeah, I think the better deck constructor
- 7:26Speaker 4: is going to win nine of the time.
- 7:29Speaker 2: Sure, So I don't know really much what we want
- 7:34Speaker 2: to talk to you about. Draft and sealed They exist.
- 7:40Speaker 4: Yeah, that's I was going to say. For the like
- 7:43Speaker 4: three official unofficial formats. The rules exist on the Altered website.
- 7:52Speaker 4: You can go find them. Draft is a lot of fun.
- 7:56Speaker 4: It's a little harder to set up. Takes a little
- 7:58Speaker 4: longer because you open a certain amount of packs and
- 8:02Speaker 4: then you know, take one card and.
- 8:03Speaker 2: Pass it in a circle, take one down, pass it around,
- 8:07Speaker 2: and niney nine bottles of beer on the wall.
- 8:09Speaker 1: Yep.
- 8:10Speaker 4: And sealed is you just open I believe it's seven
- 8:14Speaker 4: packs and you just make a deck off of that
- 8:17Speaker 4: based on different deck building instructions.
- 8:22Speaker 2: Multi the deck building instruction Now, I haven't done any
- 8:25Speaker 2: draft or sealed for Altered. Are the deck building instructions different?
- 8:33Speaker 4: Uh? Yeah?
- 8:34Speaker 3: Have up to three colors, a minimum card count of thirty.
- 8:40Speaker 3: You can have either zero or one hero. Is there
- 8:44Speaker 3: any other important rules?
- 8:47Speaker 2: Are sucking here? Sealed players build their decks for a
- 8:50Speaker 2: pool of cards. Decks supposed to be thirty cards. You
- 8:54Speaker 2: could play up to three different faction. I do find
- 8:58Speaker 2: it interesting that a deck can can include a hero card.
- 9:02Speaker 3: Yeah, you're allowed to have thirty cards and no hero.
- 9:06Speaker 3: This is more relevant in draft if you just don't
- 9:08Speaker 3: end up drafting a hero, but in sealed you'll always
- 9:11Speaker 3: have a hero, and in draft you should always have
- 9:13Speaker 3: a hero too, swaying without.
- 9:14Speaker 5: A yeah, too much, he's going to have a hero. Yeah,
- 9:20Speaker 5: there are no circumstances where you would want an extra
- 9:24Speaker 5: card instead of your hero. Okay, I've never seen someone
- 9:28Speaker 5: run a limited deck without a hero.
- 9:30Speaker 2: And again, you're allowed to no experience in either of these.
- 9:35Speaker 4: Be a very interesting choice to do so, but yeah,
- 9:39Speaker 4: like Dexter said, with draft, you could technically shoot yourself
- 9:43Speaker 4: in the foot and not draft a hero because everyone
- 9:46Speaker 4: else could take all the heroes and only play one
- 9:50Speaker 4: of them. So if you did not pick a hero
- 9:54Speaker 4: early enough, you could be without one. It doesn't usually happen.
- 10:00Speaker 4: The other interesting thing is the existence of mana convergence cards.
- 10:06Speaker 4: I've never had to use one, but their entire existence
- 10:12Speaker 4: is four sealed and draft, to where if you cannot
- 10:16Speaker 4: make a thirty card deck that meets the you know,
- 10:22Speaker 4: three colors, one has to match your hero. You can
- 10:26Speaker 4: fill the rest of those requirements with Manic convergence cards,
- 10:30Speaker 4: which are only used as Mannut words.
- 10:34Speaker 2: I also this is I feel like that's a poor strategy.
- 10:39Speaker 3: Yes, you would have to draft very poorly into like
- 10:43Speaker 3: a lot of all of the different colors in order
- 10:45Speaker 3: to make it so that you don't have a viable
- 10:48Speaker 3: three color deck that is at least thirty cards.
- 10:51Speaker 2: But even I don't know, just knowing my Magic draft experiences. Right,
- 10:58Speaker 2: you have the you know the bread maybe some of
- 11:01Speaker 2: you are are familiar with the bread drafting.
- 11:06Speaker 3: What never heard of bread drafting?
- 11:09Speaker 2: Really? Nope, you have never heard of bread drafting either.
- 11:13Speaker 4: I have only played one tournament of Mini Masters for Magic,
- 11:18Speaker 4: and that is it.
- 11:18Speaker 2: Okay, So bread drafting kind of gives you your and
- 11:21Speaker 2: it's not like a style, that's just how you draft. Right,
- 11:25Speaker 2: So when you crack your pack, first thing you're looking
- 11:28Speaker 2: for is your bombs, your your your game changers, right,
- 11:33Speaker 2: your your things that this this card hits and like
- 11:37Speaker 2: it can change or alter the no pun intended the game?
- 11:42Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 11:43Speaker 2: After that? Sure, after that, if you have no bombs,
- 11:50Speaker 2: you look for removal. Yeah, so anything that would bounce destroy,
- 11:57Speaker 2: you know, take care of, take care of a proper
- 12:02Speaker 2: After that, you're looking for things of like evasion, right,
- 12:06Speaker 2: So maybe this one doesn't so much. It probably does
- 12:10Speaker 2: somewhere apply. You're looking for like your creatures with with
- 12:14Speaker 2: flying or have some way of getting you to your
- 12:19Speaker 2: goal that are tough for your opponent to deal with. Okay,
- 12:24Speaker 2: And then the next one is so just pure agro cards,
- 12:27Speaker 2: just cards that are purely just aggressive wanting you.
- 12:33Speaker 4: You know.
- 12:35Speaker 2: A lot of times, a lot of times these are
- 12:37Speaker 2: like haste creatures, right, Like you know, it's a one
- 12:40Speaker 2: one for one that you just it's a it's a
- 12:42Speaker 2: creature that you can do. It plops on the ground,
- 12:45Speaker 2: it does something, it's quick, it gets you to your goal.
- 12:49Speaker 2: And then everything else that you're duns just things that
- 12:51Speaker 2: don't don't things you don't want.
- 12:59Speaker 3: Seems like a pretty good way to draft. I mean,
- 13:02Speaker 3: you definitely take a similar approach and altered. First get
- 13:05Speaker 3: the good cards, the bombs, like you said, and then
- 13:08Speaker 3: you get removal and then you get agro. I would
- 13:11Speaker 3: definitely agree that that's a good strategy. But you also
- 13:13Speaker 3: have to take into consideration the colors that you're drafting. Sure,
- 13:18Speaker 3: and so there's definitely some cases work. I mean that
- 13:20Speaker 3: someone could's by those rules and then get the wrong colors.
- 13:25Speaker 2: Sure, but that's no different in magic. Remember you have
- 13:27Speaker 2: five colors in magic too. You have to think about
- 13:30Speaker 2: a lot of the times you're you're draft blocking, right,
- 13:35Speaker 2: you get a pack, it comes back around, you notice
- 13:38Speaker 2: a couple of people are headed into a certain color,
- 13:41Speaker 2: and then you're like, all right, well I'm gonna take
- 13:42Speaker 2: that just because I don't want to deal with.
- 13:45Speaker 4: It, and me, the non competitive competitive player, I just
- 13:53Speaker 4: try to do weird shit and sixty percent of the
- 13:57Speaker 4: time it doesn't work. And that's how I draft.
- 14:00Speaker 2: It seems fair, seems.
- 14:02Speaker 4: Yep, spoilers for my explanation of the Rotisserie draft.
- 14:08Speaker 2: It doesn't seem fair. You're actually the player at the
- 14:11Speaker 2: table that pisses me off the most because you're like,
- 14:13Speaker 2: who took that? Why would you take that? Nobody else
- 14:15Speaker 2: is there, and you're just like, oh, because they did.
- 14:18Speaker 1: I mean, I have an idea.
- 14:20Speaker 4: I'm not just like grabbing cards at random, but the
- 14:22Speaker 4: idea is usually something weird. What did I do? I
- 14:28Speaker 4: think for Trial by Frost, I got a roc in
- 14:32Speaker 4: like my first pack, and so that was right away
- 14:37Speaker 4: what I decided to go with. And then I can't
- 14:41Speaker 4: remember what my other concept was, but I remember it
- 14:47Speaker 4: was a lot of Yeasmeer and Lyra, and then of
- 14:52Speaker 4: course I got some slaves, so I put those in
- 14:57Speaker 4: for sure.
- 14:58Speaker 3: Yep, we like slays.
- 15:02Speaker 4: But yeah, those cards are really just like an extra backup.
- 15:06Speaker 4: I don't know if I've ever witnessed anyone not use
- 15:10Speaker 4: a hero or use a Manic convergence. I did learn
- 15:15Speaker 4: of something that players do. It's always interesting what different
- 15:21Speaker 4: playgroups do, like in different states, in different parts of
- 15:24Speaker 4: the world. I guess there's a good amount of players
- 15:27Speaker 4: that use the Manic Convergence as their man at orbs
- 15:33Speaker 4: instead of putting like their actual cards in Manna. And
- 15:37Speaker 4: there was a French tumult I think that was being
- 15:42Speaker 4: streamed and the player that had like the camera on
- 15:47Speaker 4: their hand was doing that, and that was very interesting
- 15:52Speaker 4: to me.
- 15:53Speaker 3: Where did they put the other cards then?
- 15:55Speaker 4: So on the stream, this person just put them in
- 15:58Speaker 4: like a box facing them kind of like have you
- 16:05Speaker 4: ordered some of the top loaders, the ultra pro top loaders, Yeah,
- 16:14Speaker 4: you know, you know how they come in, Like, yeah,
- 16:18Speaker 4: you know how they come in a box that's like
- 16:22Speaker 4: it's like a box cut in half at an angle.
- 16:26Speaker 4: They basically used that and they just set the cards
- 16:30Speaker 4: that they mannaed in there so that they could then,
- 16:34Speaker 4: you know, because you can look at your mana whenever.
- 16:37Speaker 3: You Yeah, so they can strategize seeing what they've already
- 16:40Speaker 3: managed that they don't have access to.
- 16:42Speaker 4: If they had to access them, they would just like
- 16:45Speaker 4: flip through this little box of their their manna. I
- 16:50Speaker 4: in my brain, I don't like the concept of doing that.
- 16:55Speaker 4: I feel like it's setting you.
- 16:56Speaker 3: Up, like it would make it easy to lose a
- 16:59Speaker 3: card or something.
- 17:00Speaker 4: Yeah, I feel like it's setting you up for more
- 17:03Speaker 4: failure in the future, just based on how you already
- 17:10Speaker 4: interact with the mana and how you might in the
- 17:13Speaker 4: future when mana interaction becomes more common because something like
- 17:21Speaker 4: mana eruption, you specifically choose what card from your mana
- 17:26Speaker 4: to discard, and at first glance, people might not think
- 17:31Speaker 4: that's important.
- 17:32Speaker 3: But if you flip and then you draw back into it, yeah.
- 17:36Speaker 4: Exactly, exactly, yep, and so I yeah, it was interesting
- 17:41Speaker 4: though interesting to learn that. One of the other things
- 17:46Speaker 4: recently is some people in Utah I guess a lot
- 17:52Speaker 4: of them use the Tumult tracker like app and do
- 17:57Speaker 4: everything with that digitally instead of you an actual adventure track.
- 18:02Speaker 4: And I've never seen anyone in Texas do that, so
- 18:05Speaker 4: it was.
- 18:05Speaker 3: Kind of spell does that fell like the app? Yeah,
- 18:08Speaker 3: you can talk to him next time about if he
- 18:11Speaker 3: still uses the app for stuff.
- 18:13Speaker 4: Yeah. I don't know if it will be not allowed
- 18:19Speaker 4: in altered tournaments, but it is in general a good
- 18:24Speaker 4: idea to not get used to it because a lot
- 18:26Speaker 4: of that stuff is not allowed in most TCGs because
- 18:32Speaker 4: I mean, you're using your phone, so you know, yeah,
- 18:34Speaker 4: who knows what you could pull up or what you
- 18:37Speaker 4: could have on it. Or when Star Wars first started,
- 18:41Speaker 4: they didn't even let you use like digital like noteboards
- 18:44Speaker 4: they call him like boogie boards or whatever.
- 18:46Speaker 2: Yeah, the boogy boards. I got a boggyboard.
- 18:48Speaker 4: Yeah, those were not allowed. I've heard since then that
- 18:52Speaker 4: they are allowed now. But anyways, keyboard.
- 18:56Speaker 3: Still doesn't allow any note taking, right except stuff.
- 19:02Speaker 2: Yeah, you can't you can't use and you can't take
- 19:04Speaker 2: any notes. I mean, technically are you supposed to rule
- 19:10Speaker 2: do any of there either? Really? But you know, it
- 19:15Speaker 2: doesn't happen.
- 19:16Speaker 4: I think if you In most TCGs, you're allowed to
- 19:20Speaker 4: take notes, but they have to be public, like you
- 19:23Speaker 4: have to have it face up so anyone can see
- 19:26Speaker 4: what you're writing.
- 19:27Speaker 2: Now.
- 19:29Speaker 4: Of the main formats that are technically alternate formats but
- 19:34Speaker 4: are officially you know, endorsed, multiplayer is the most different.
- 19:41Speaker 4: Like I've kind of already said, it is pretty interesting.
- 19:46Speaker 4: It's a two v two format and the tumult is
- 19:49Speaker 4: set up in kind of a T shape, and you
- 19:57Speaker 4: just have to have one person on your team complete
- 20:01Speaker 4: the expedition essentially, so hero meet companion and you're battling
- 20:07Speaker 4: against another team. There's some interesting rules with you know,
- 20:13Speaker 4: how hero powers work, what you can do, like you
- 20:18Speaker 4: can create tokens in your teammates expeditions and things like that,
- 20:24Speaker 4: so it can be a lot of fun. Like I said,
- 20:27Speaker 4: the rules if you want to read through the whole thing,
- 20:30Speaker 4: and all the ins and outs are on the Altered website,
- 20:36Speaker 4: But the.
- 20:36Speaker 1: Non official.
- 20:39Speaker 4: Is where it gets a little whackier and not as
- 20:43Speaker 4: easy to get to the rules because they're not on
- 20:47Speaker 4: the Altered website.
- 20:48Speaker 2: They're not in any one place, true, not yet, at least,
- 20:53Speaker 2: you know, it would be cool. Maybe there was a
- 20:57Speaker 2: certain podcast out there who possibly had a website who
- 21:03Speaker 2: could possibly poke get these, you know, maybe had some
- 21:07Speaker 2: ends with the community and had them posted all in
- 21:11Speaker 2: one site.
- 21:12Speaker 4: Mm, that could be possible if you click the first
- 21:16Speaker 4: non official I clicked.
- 21:18Speaker 2: I clicked, I know, I know leads.
- 21:22Speaker 4: If you h yeah, if you reach out and you
- 21:24Speaker 4: begged me to put your format on altered corner dot com.
- 21:29Speaker 2: Maybe we should reach out and be like, hey, hey
- 21:33Speaker 2: dudes and do debts, let's put it all in one place.
- 21:37Speaker 2: I mean, the way people can play your sweet format.
- 21:42Speaker 4: Yeah, I could definitely do that right now. The page
- 21:46Speaker 4: that I've made for the format that I came up.
- 21:50Speaker 2: With is.
- 21:52Speaker 4: Not the most condensed, but I just hurry and threw
- 21:56Speaker 4: it together.
- 21:57Speaker 2: So why don't we go in to that and watch
- 22:00Speaker 2: you tell us a little bit of this is yours,
- 22:02Speaker 2: right like you made this or this is your this
- 22:05Speaker 2: is your brain child.
- 22:07Speaker 4: Yeah. Yeah, So this is what I call convoy mode,
- 22:10Speaker 4: and I'm pretty sure I've explained it before on the podcast.
- 22:15Speaker 4: But now if you go to altered Corner dot com,
- 22:18Speaker 4: there's a tab for it, so you can easily access
- 22:21Speaker 4: the rules at any time. And if you didn't hear
- 22:26Speaker 4: the previous episodes. First, go back and listen to all
- 22:31Speaker 4: of them.
- 22:32Speaker 2: And give them a lif and a follow and all
- 22:35Speaker 2: the stuff you're supposed to do to help the algorithm,
- 22:38Speaker 2: because one day we would like to be in the top. However,
- 22:44Speaker 2: money we need to be to get to get a card.
- 22:47Speaker 4: Top thirty.
- 22:48Speaker 2: Now top thirty, so we reached our other goal. Right,
- 22:53Speaker 2: we're number fifty eight, But now we got twenty twenty
- 22:56Speaker 2: more spaces to crawl and I hate to say, probably
- 23:01Speaker 2: a lot of boobs to get over.
- 23:04Speaker 4: Not as many as you would wish, Wookie.
- 23:06Speaker 2: Not as many as I was hoping her out there.
- 23:10Speaker 4: So the basic concept of convoy mode is there have
- 23:15Speaker 4: been a lot of people who have played by faction
- 23:21Speaker 4: or multi faction decks. There's been a tournament, i think
- 23:27Speaker 4: in the French community once upon a time for a
- 23:31Speaker 4: dual color deck. To me, just saying that you can
- 23:36Speaker 4: have one hero and then you can mix two colors
- 23:39Speaker 4: didn't really feel like altered, especially in the lore, and
- 23:46Speaker 4: then also just the deck building rules, because if altered,
- 23:51Speaker 4: it's the only TCG you've ever played. The deck building
- 23:54Speaker 4: rules are actually a lot more strict than most other TCGs,
- 24:00Speaker 4: which I actually really enjoy, but like lor Kana Magic,
- 24:06Speaker 4: I'm not sure if does one piece have any specific limitations.
- 24:11Speaker 4: I'm not sure Star Wars you can technically mix outside
- 24:19Speaker 4: of your deck requirements, you just have to pay more.
- 24:23Speaker 4: But even then I think you get three aspects is
- 24:28Speaker 4: what they call it, based off.
- 24:29Speaker 2: Of your yeah yeah, two for me hero one from
- 24:35Speaker 2: your base.
- 24:36Speaker 4: Yeah. So I I made a format that I call
- 24:40Speaker 4: a convoy, which is taking on the idea that you
- 24:46Speaker 4: are a faction. So your hero and you're having another
- 24:51Speaker 4: faction lend a hand in your expedition in the Tumult,
- 24:56Speaker 4: which is very common, you know, maybe that's why exists
- 25:00Speaker 4: in the first place. That is also something you're going
- 25:04Speaker 4: to see a lot more in Whispers from the Maize.
- 25:08Speaker 4: As you know, Bravos are being the cooks, YadA YadA.
- 25:13Speaker 4: So your AID faction allows less cards than your main faction.
- 25:19Speaker 4: And then there's some specific breakdowns you can find on
- 25:24Speaker 4: our website. And I also posted the picture of the
- 25:29Speaker 4: first deck that I made for it. I've only played
- 25:32Speaker 4: one game of it so far, but it was fun.
- 25:37Speaker 4: You should be able to play it on both Exalts
- 25:40Speaker 4: Table and Exalted. If you do it on exaltered. You
- 25:45Speaker 4: just have to set up a lobby that is draft
- 25:48Speaker 4: or sealed and then it'll work. So that's convoy. If
- 25:53Speaker 4: you want to play a game, go find the instructions,
- 25:59Speaker 4: make the deck and let me know and we can
- 26:01Speaker 4: set up a time. But also wanted to give a
- 26:06Speaker 4: shout out to Kojo Maine who has a really good
- 26:10Speaker 4: video on what he calls doubles and that is the
- 26:16Speaker 4: more straightforward by faction deck where it's two colors in
- 26:21Speaker 4: one deck and you just follow standard rules, so no
- 26:25Speaker 4: more than three of one card name. Even if you
- 26:29Speaker 4: you know, have the the Lyra version and the Yazimer version,
- 26:35Speaker 4: you can't go over three of like Sandman, which was
- 26:39Speaker 4: a bad example because Sandman's an artist, but you get
- 26:42Speaker 4: the idea.
- 26:43Speaker 3: Yeah, makes sense.
- 26:45Speaker 2: Hey, I don't know what this button does. We've never
- 26:47Speaker 2: had this button before. I don't know if you've ever
- 26:49Speaker 2: seen this one. You guys ready, it just adds that
- 26:55Speaker 2: waiting music.
- 26:58Speaker 4: Oh yeah, you're at it. You put you put creative
- 27:01Speaker 4: chaos in the live audience on music.
- 27:06Speaker 2: It just has music. I don't know what it did.
- 27:11Speaker 2: I wanted to know, can we add music now to
- 27:14Speaker 2: our awesome thing or sound? Effects stuff stuff as of that.
- 27:20Speaker 2: You know, I just wanted to know I'd be cool like,
- 27:24Speaker 2: I have a way I can do it. It's kind
- 27:25Speaker 2: of a pain of the butt, but I could do it.
- 27:28Speaker 2: But either way, continue, Sorry, I just want to know
- 27:31Speaker 2: what the button did.
- 27:33Speaker 4: So the next one is booster war. This is pretty
- 27:38Speaker 4: common in a lot of TCGs. I have never played
- 27:42Speaker 4: a format like this, have either of you in a
- 27:44Speaker 4: in a different ECG.
- 27:47Speaker 3: So I've never seen anything like this, but I really
- 27:50Speaker 3: like it.
- 27:50Speaker 2: Explain booster ward to me.
- 27:54Speaker 4: Yeah, so a booster war is, basically, if I'm explaining
- 27:58Speaker 4: it in a general term, is when you get just
- 28:03Speaker 4: a booster pack of whatever TCG, you get a friend
- 28:08Speaker 4: who does the same. You open the booster and that's
- 28:12Speaker 4: all you play with. You play the game with just
- 28:14Speaker 4: that one.
- 28:14Speaker 2: Booster Magic has something like that.
- 28:18Speaker 4: Yeah, So in Altered specifically, you open the pack without
- 28:23Speaker 4: looking at the cards. You place the hero in the
- 28:27Speaker 4: hero spot, which is the first card. You remove the
- 28:31Speaker 4: last card because that's usually a foiler, a Mane convergence
- 28:35Speaker 4: or something like that, and then you shuffle the rest
- 28:41Speaker 4: and that will become your draw pile. You play the
- 28:44Speaker 4: rest as normal, except for the fact that there is
- 28:48Speaker 4: infinite manna and you draw three cards every day instead
- 28:52Speaker 4: of two, including the first day.
- 28:55Speaker 3: Oh I didn't read that rule.
- 28:56Speaker 4: Okay, Yeah, and then at the end of the fourth day,
- 28:59Speaker 4: if someone has no won the game yet, you go
- 29:01Speaker 4: to tiebreaker. Now in Altered there's a couple different ways
- 29:05Speaker 4: that people play. Some people shorten the tumult, some don't,
- 29:10Speaker 4: So you can play it with the same length track,
- 29:13Speaker 4: or you can take out, say the middle card and condense.
- 29:16Speaker 4: It just depends on what you want to do. I
- 29:22Speaker 4: got this breakdown from Blue because he recently made a
- 29:27Speaker 4: video about it, and since booster War is a more
- 29:31Speaker 4: general TCG concept, the rules for booster War aren't really
- 29:36Speaker 4: written down anywhere, so you can go watch Blue Oak
- 29:40Speaker 4: TV's video on YouTube to get a better idea of it.
- 29:44Speaker 4: But yeah, it sounds dope. I actually really want to
- 29:48Speaker 4: try it where all of us are basically not in
- 29:53Speaker 4: the same state. I think there is maybe a way
- 29:57Speaker 4: to do it on exalts table, but I'm not certain.
- 29:59Speaker 3: Off the top of ahead, I've never used ex olt stable,
- 30:04Speaker 3: so I'd have no idea the same.
- 30:07Speaker 4: Yeah, it's very nice looking and it's very cool that
- 30:13Speaker 4: it has a draft option, like you can actually draft
- 30:17Speaker 4: and open the cards. It is just a little more manual,
- 30:22Speaker 4: and there is a specific button or two that if
- 30:26Speaker 4: you click at the wrong time, will screw up your
- 30:28Speaker 4: entire game.
- 30:29Speaker 1: So it's not It's not my favorite, but.
- 30:34Speaker 4: I am also a big dumb brain. Love the digital
- 30:40Speaker 4: BGA client to be able to count for me and
- 30:43Speaker 4: do half the work for me, so.
- 30:46Speaker 2: Which becomes really fun when you get into real life play.
- 30:50Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I am very bad at.
- 30:54Speaker 4: Real life play for a handfuil of reasons, and the
- 30:57Speaker 4: fact that I play eighty percent digitally is one of them.
- 31:02Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 31:03Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean digitally is the way to play nowadays.
- 31:07Speaker 3: That's the way you can't get a whole bunch of games.
- 31:11Speaker 2: I hate you children nowadays.
- 31:14Speaker 3: Fucking admitting that unique is the way that going online
- 31:19Speaker 3: is the way to go. No, there aren't what your
- 31:22Speaker 3: game store will be.
- 31:25Speaker 2: Well, there's no no, there are people there, they just
- 31:26Speaker 2: don't play Altered.
- 31:28Speaker 3: Yeah, exact right.
- 31:29Speaker 2: I'd have to go to a different games which clashes
- 31:32Speaker 2: with my schedule.
- 31:35Speaker 4: Yeah. My problem is I don't have a car. I
- 31:39Speaker 4: share a car, and the game store that I go
- 31:43Speaker 4: to to play Alter that is forty minutes away, so
- 31:47Speaker 4: I don't go there more than one.
- 31:49Speaker 2: Right, and I understand that. I just I these kids nowadays,
- 31:55Speaker 2: like I want everything on fucking lying and like it's.
- 31:58Speaker 3: I don't want it online student, that's what you want.
- 32:01Speaker 2: You're right that you want it. I would like more
- 32:04Speaker 2: people that go out into You don't want to go
- 32:07Speaker 2: out into the world and actually play in person, Like
- 32:12Speaker 2: you just want to sit at home and you're fucking
- 32:14Speaker 2: snuggy and eat your fruit loops.
- 32:18Speaker 4: So what deck, I'm on Dexter's side because we're both
- 32:21Speaker 4: in the same boat. Lookie, we don't have friends.
- 32:25Speaker 2: We'll go find some. Maybe you have no friends because
- 32:29Speaker 2: you don't go outside.
- 32:31Speaker 4: I go out as often as I can.
- 32:34Speaker 3: I'm in college, Wookie, you should have time college friends.
- 32:38Speaker 4: Though college is the worst place to make friends, I swear.
- 32:41Speaker 2: Well, not friends you keep. They're like friends for now.
- 32:47Speaker 4: Anyways. Yeah, I've probably played I don't even know how
- 32:51Speaker 4: many games have altered this week, thirty thirty five.
- 32:55Speaker 3: Maybe I've probably only played like fifteen on men.
- 32:58Speaker 2: I don't even think I've been on my computer as
- 33:00Speaker 2: long as it takes to play thirty five games of Walter.
- 33:05Speaker 4: Yeah, well, I work on my computer. So wow, I.
- 33:09Speaker 3: Haven't played in person in months now.
- 33:12Speaker 2: I work on a computer and I.
- 33:14Speaker 3: Haven't been able to go to locals.
- 33:16Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm going to the Tumult next week.
- 33:19Speaker 2: I would kill to go to a locals and actually
- 33:22Speaker 2: be able to play.
- 33:23Speaker 4: Yeh, same, because I can't go right now. But well,
- 33:27Speaker 4: I'll figure that out one way or another. We got
- 33:32Speaker 4: we got to get through these last two forms.
- 33:34Speaker 2: Yeah, this is one of my pilates formats right now
- 33:40Speaker 2: because I think I know what uniques do to the
- 33:44Speaker 2: game and the reasoning for them and the YadA YadA
- 33:47Speaker 2: saw it and so forth, and it was a really
- 33:49Speaker 2: cool idea. It's one of those things where you're like, oh,
- 33:53Speaker 2: it sounds good, but then once you get into practice,
- 33:57Speaker 2: you're like, oh, this just becomes something dumb. No uniques.
- 34:05Speaker 2: So basically, get your same deck from how I understand
- 34:08Speaker 2: no uniques, get your same deck, building rules, all the
- 34:11Speaker 2: fun stuff. But you are not allowed to put uniques
- 34:14Speaker 2: in your deck.
- 34:16Speaker 1: Correct.
- 34:16Speaker 4: You do not get any extra rares, which I guess
- 34:20Speaker 4: I should have.
- 34:20Speaker 3: Put tech It depends some people let you get extra rays.
- 34:25Speaker 4: Yeah, I was gonna say technically, there have been people
- 34:29Speaker 4: that said no unique but up the Raars to eighteen.
- 34:33Speaker 4: I have not seen or heard of anyone actually playing it.
- 34:38Speaker 4: There is a weekly tournament for no unique.
- 34:43Speaker 2: Right now, I'm gonna be honest with you, Like, even
- 34:47Speaker 2: if you don't up the Raars or you do up
- 34:49Speaker 2: the Raars, I still think either one is still better
- 34:55Speaker 2: than with the uniques.
- 34:58Speaker 4: There are some people people who feel that way. I
- 35:02Speaker 4: am not one of them, so you can be our
- 35:05Speaker 4: one on this putch.
- 35:06Speaker 2: Sure. I just I hate man, I get it right, Like,
- 35:11Speaker 2: I've been playing card games long enough where you gotta
- 35:14Speaker 2: have the uniques to drive the secondary market, because the
- 35:17Speaker 2: secondary markets typically what drives demand for your for your
- 35:21Speaker 2: game because it's you know, legalized gambling you can sell
- 35:24Speaker 2: to children. Let's not talk about all that because it
- 35:27Speaker 2: gets into a hot mess. But fuck, I just hate
- 35:32Speaker 2: games that just become a like how big is my
- 35:35Speaker 2: wallet compared to your wallet? They just they drive me nuts.
- 35:40Speaker 2: I don't like it. I thought key Ford was gonna
- 35:44Speaker 2: be one of those games where it was like, oh,
- 35:48Speaker 2: you know, your wallet size isn't gonna matter. It's going
- 35:50Speaker 2: to really be you know, I've yet to find a
- 35:52Speaker 2: card game that really emphasizes players skill over pocket skill.
- 35:57Speaker 2: I mean, unfortunately, we're some We're still in the same
- 36:00Speaker 2: scenario even with Altered. You know, as many games as
- 36:04Speaker 2: I was like, oh that sounds like this, and that
- 36:06Speaker 2: just never turns out to be that way, but this
- 36:10Speaker 2: is the life I live.
- 36:12Speaker 4: Yeah, I would say Altered is the most like that
- 36:16Speaker 4: that I have seen, because the most I've spent on
- 36:21Speaker 4: a important card is four dollars, where as in Magic
- 36:28Speaker 4: or Flesh and Blood or.
- 36:31Speaker 2: You're also not a competitive you're not playing a lot
- 36:34Speaker 2: of competitive playfield competitive.
- 36:37Speaker 4: I don't play a lot of other competitive TCGs. I
- 36:40Speaker 4: play a ton of competitive Altered though.
- 36:44Speaker 2: Okay, well maybe I.
- 36:46Speaker 3: Just bought a fifteen dollars card that was a unit,
- 36:49Speaker 3: so I'm talking not oh, what's the most you spent
- 36:54Speaker 3: on a unique goal that's what he's talking about.
- 36:59Speaker 4: Uh of fifteen maybe.
- 37:02Speaker 3: Yeah, So neither of us have spent a lot. But
- 37:05Speaker 3: there are people that spend two three hundred dollars on uniques,
- 37:09Speaker 3: and there are people that don't have that kind of
- 37:11Speaker 3: money to spend un altered, and then at that point
- 37:14Speaker 3: it does become a pocketbook issue. Yeah, there are no
- 37:17Speaker 3: uniques that are very expensive.
- 37:20Speaker 4: I don't disagree now that I think it's just way
- 37:24Speaker 4: less of a problem in Altered.
- 37:27Speaker 2: I think maybe just problem altered.
- 37:31Speaker 4: Because there are very few players that actually do very
- 37:35Speaker 4: well that have spent that much money on unique because.
- 37:39Speaker 2: My kid making popcorn, he sure is.
- 37:42Speaker 4: All of the real competitive players that I know have
- 37:48Speaker 4: a very limited budget for uniques and do very well.
- 37:53Speaker 4: And I still think, to me, there's only four uniques
- 37:59Speaker 4: I think in the game I've seen that gave someone
- 38:06Speaker 4: a very obvious upper hand consistently. One of them is
- 38:13Speaker 4: Plukas Quitsicado.
- 38:15Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 38:17Speaker 4: The other is the famous altered aces Cocoba. And then
- 38:27Speaker 4: there was I don't remember the player, but there was
- 38:30Speaker 4: a player that had three anchoring muna uniques yea, and
- 38:37Speaker 4: they're the reason that people complain of how anchoring uniques
- 38:40Speaker 4: when they're really not a problem in the grand scheme
- 38:44Speaker 4: of things.
- 38:46Speaker 3: And then you wouldn't say the Keylong guy all three
- 38:49Speaker 3: of his pretty good uniques that he had, and.
- 38:54Speaker 4: I'm not saying that they're not good, but I know
- 38:56Speaker 4: what he spent on them, and it was not expensive.
- 39:00Speaker 2: Okay, I'll be interested to see you in the marketplace
- 39:04Speaker 2: opens up like to everybody, to everyone, Yeah, it basically
- 39:10Speaker 2: is is it.
- 39:12Speaker 3: It's open to everyone that applied at this point.
- 39:15Speaker 2: Yes, yeah, right.
- 39:17Speaker 4: And there will be more people added day after day.
- 39:21Speaker 3: Yep.
- 39:22Speaker 4: So uh, that's no Unique. If you want to play
- 39:27Speaker 4: in that, look on Board Game Arena for the NU
- 39:32Speaker 4: see the No Unique Championship. It's been pretty interesting. I
- 39:39Speaker 4: would say the results are mostly the same even without uniques,
- 39:47Speaker 4: but we've also seen a lot of variety lately. We're
- 39:50Speaker 4: getting to the most fun part of the season in
- 39:53Speaker 4: my mind, where people are getting a lot more experimental.
- 39:57Speaker 4: So we've had, you know, a six and zero Sierra.
- 40:01Speaker 4: We've had in our June win a tournament. We've had
- 40:04Speaker 4: some Saudi's do well things like that. So we'll see
- 40:10Speaker 4: how the and you see goes when WFM drops.
- 40:17Speaker 2: So all right, we got one more one more to
- 40:19Speaker 2: go over and then we're gonna get into our lore.
- 40:22Speaker 4: Yes, so the I was going to bug them about it,
- 40:29Speaker 4: but then I didn't because I figured this would be
- 40:31Speaker 4: more fun. The guys over on Hero's Guide to as
- 40:37Speaker 4: Gartha are working on some kind of weird Hero swap format,
- 40:44Speaker 4: So you should go tell them to post the rules
- 40:48Speaker 4: officially somewhere and let everyone know because it sounds interesting.
- 40:54Speaker 4: I'm pretty sure they've talked about it on at least
- 40:57Speaker 4: one or two episodes, but they have to actually put
- 41:00Speaker 4: the rules out. So all right, are.
- 41:09Speaker 2: You Are you ready for I'm ready. I just I'm
- 41:14Speaker 2: reading my all right, So.
- 41:20Speaker 4: This is a war post that I have put together.
- 41:26Speaker 4: So there will be some paraphrasing, there will be some referencing.
- 41:31Speaker 4: The idea behind this is I'm going to give you
- 41:34Speaker 4: a idea of who Silas is. As far as we
- 41:40Speaker 4: know now.
- 41:41Speaker 2: He's altered Jesus, I'm just kidding, I have no idea.
- 41:48Speaker 4: Let's get into the war before you give that title.
- 41:52Speaker 2: I'm scrolling through a deadpool popped up and I was
- 41:55Speaker 2: just like that scene where he's like, I'm marble, Jesus,
- 41:58Speaker 2: your doll creature.
- 42:00Speaker 4: Yeah, I think maybe altered Lucifer might be a little
- 42:05Speaker 4: more spot on.
- 42:08Speaker 2: Let's find out.
- 42:11Speaker 4: I also want to say too, at Gnome School, you
- 42:17Speaker 4: better hold up your end of the deal, because I
- 42:21Speaker 4: got some really good stuff out of this so that
- 42:26Speaker 4: you would draw us some Silas van art.
- 42:28Speaker 2: So all right, rather mysterious figures. Oh my goodness, Sorry,
- 42:34Speaker 2: what am I holding out?
- 42:35Speaker 4: I got this one? Yeah, because it's my paraphrase, you've
- 42:40Speaker 4: got it. Well, I don't want you to, you know,
- 42:43Speaker 4: trip over me randomly putting in stuff and all right, yeah,
- 42:50Speaker 4: I have a treat for the two of you, a surprise.
- 42:53Speaker 3: Okay, So I'm right right.
- 42:57Speaker 4: So Silas is a rather mysterious fear who up until
- 43:02Speaker 4: now has been hidden behind an enamel mask with eyes
- 43:06Speaker 4: that glow and unnatural hue. We first heard the name
- 43:11Speaker 4: Silas in a lower article about parasites, where he is
- 43:15Speaker 4: talking to a non human entity that has taken over
- 43:19Speaker 4: a druid's body. So this is a exsert directly from parasites.
- 43:26Speaker 4: Herisa is long dead, as are Eugenie Rohin and Hayley.
- 43:33Speaker 4: My name is Saskia. Now should I still call you?
- 43:40Speaker 4: Oh wow? Why did that cut out the name? Should I? Yeah?
- 43:46Speaker 4: I swear it was there before. Should I still call you? Cosine? Cassine?
- 43:52Speaker 4: It's q A A S I N. The linguists out
- 43:58Speaker 4: there are gonna hate me, but that's that's what it is.
- 44:01Speaker 4: The sorcerer removes his mirrored mask and places it on
- 44:05Speaker 4: his work table, and Silas will do for this body.
- 44:11Speaker 4: What we learned from this article is a little bit
- 44:14Speaker 4: concerning Silas and Saskia, as well as other weird parasite
- 44:20Speaker 4: like entities that are seemingly body snatching, have been watching
- 44:25Speaker 4: over and holding back as Garthans for centuries. Moving over
- 44:30Speaker 4: to the lore for a Faunas, we hear about a
- 44:34Speaker 4: kraken that killed his family and was seemingly controlled by
- 44:39Speaker 4: a chrysanthemum cloaked warlock. This is what set a Fawnas
- 44:44Speaker 4: on a path to find the warlock that he blames
- 44:47Speaker 4: for his family's death. A Fawnas was a very young
- 44:51Speaker 4: boy when all of this happened, and was saved by
- 44:53Speaker 4: a frail old mage who then taught him the way
- 44:57Speaker 4: of Yazmir magic. Remember I'm paraphrasing, so if you want
- 45:02Speaker 4: to read the full stories, go to Parasites anything mentioning chrysanthemums,
- 45:08Speaker 4: and then a Faunas's story, and I'll tell you one
- 45:13Speaker 4: more as we get further here. So this is another excerpt.
- 45:18Speaker 4: He was finally there in front of him, after all
- 45:21Speaker 4: of these years, He finally had proof that he hadn't
- 45:25Speaker 4: dreamt it, that he existed. The warlock addressed him directly,
- 45:30Speaker 4: his voice booming in his mind. He urged him to
- 45:35Speaker 4: join in the tumult. If he dared, he would be
- 45:38Speaker 4: there waiting for him to offer his due. And this
- 45:43Speaker 4: is a scene that happened when a Faunas was looking
- 45:47Speaker 4: through Senka's eyes and had sent Senka searching all over
- 45:53Speaker 4: to find this cloaked warlock. So we're going to go
- 45:58Speaker 4: over to Bassira's backstory, which is the last actual article
- 46:04Speaker 4: that we will reference. There is a time when Bessira
- 46:09Speaker 4: and a Fawnas met and they started talking about having
- 46:13Speaker 4: similar traumatic events, kind of trying to suss each other out.
- 46:19Speaker 4: Bassierra has been betrayed before, She's been left for dead,
- 46:24Speaker 4: all other sorts of things. And while they're having a conversation,
- 46:28Speaker 4: a Fawness conjures the smell of chrysanthemum, which immediately brings
- 46:35Speaker 4: I because I'm on to jump out of Bassira's tattoos
- 46:40Speaker 4: and swing his big club at a Fawnas and they
- 46:44Speaker 4: break out in a little bit of a fight, and
- 46:48Speaker 4: this confirms a Fawnas's suspicions the same warlock that orchestrated
- 46:54Speaker 4: Bassira's fate caused his as well. Although there is one
- 46:59Speaker 4: thing that I left out on purpose here to give
- 47:06Speaker 4: you the reveal the person that mentor to Fawness. Their
- 47:13Speaker 4: name was Cassine to a A si.
- 47:18Speaker 3: N And that's the same person that Silas was. Da
- 47:24Speaker 3: has said, should I still call you Cassine? No, now
- 47:27Speaker 3: it's Silas. So both Silas and Saskia are parasites.
- 47:32Speaker 4: Yes, so they are not what they seem. And the
- 47:38Speaker 4: overall idea is they are basically infiltrating the factions and
- 47:46Speaker 4: have been continuously like ruining anything that as Garthans have
- 47:53Speaker 4: tried to do. So now my question for you guys
- 47:59Speaker 4: on the cat, the rare Silas seems to have zero
- 48:04Speaker 4: zero zero stats. Based off of that story and what
- 48:08Speaker 4: you now know about Silas, what do you think he does?
- 48:13Speaker 3: Huh?
- 48:17Speaker 2: Is it somehow you go dexter?
- 48:21Speaker 3: You go, what if he steals your opponent's cards, you
- 48:26Speaker 3: can target like opponents character that costs like five or
- 48:31Speaker 3: less or something and take it as your own.
- 48:37Speaker 4: Could be cool.
- 48:37Speaker 2: Hold on, you gotta you gotta say, Okay, let's think
- 48:40Speaker 2: in Cole Robbie terms, right, you gotta do that. You
- 48:42Speaker 2: gotta do this totally different with Cole. Okay, So he
- 48:48Speaker 2: in private right when we were getting ready for the show,
- 48:50Speaker 2: he talked to you about something that was in the
- 48:52Speaker 2: ac server. Right, he and he noted something that knowledge
- 48:57Speaker 2: is power, but secrets are paramount.
- 49:01Speaker 3: Okay, so.
- 49:08Speaker 2: Now it is power, but secrets are paramounts. So my
- 49:12Speaker 2: thought is that maybe he is able to attach himself.
- 49:20Speaker 2: All right, now, I've got a few different thoughts. He's
- 49:22Speaker 2: somehow when played right, you get to you get to
- 49:26Speaker 2: reveal your opponent's hand, and and he gets to let
- 49:31Speaker 2: you get to play a creature or a creature a
- 49:34Speaker 2: character card from your opponent's hand, and he's got probably
- 49:40Speaker 2: maybe some ability or you get to use that ability,
- 49:44Speaker 2: or maybe when played he gets to steal the hero.
- 49:49Speaker 2: I don't know how that would necessarily work.
- 49:51Speaker 3: I don't think you could steal it.
- 49:53Speaker 4: So think think of it in this way. When cards
- 49:58Speaker 4: and altered have zero z zero zero, they usually grow
- 50:04Speaker 4: based off of something. So what in his main faction
- 50:10Speaker 4: is Yizmir? That's who he's been pretending to be for.
- 50:15Speaker 1: What bell would.
- 50:16Speaker 3: After you play a spell, get a whole bunch of boosts.
- 50:19Speaker 2: Knowledge is power? Is he able to mess with Mana
- 50:21Speaker 2: orbs and you're able to play a character from your
- 50:24Speaker 2: Mana orbs and put them into play.
- 50:27Speaker 4: I think you're you're thinking a little too complex.
- 50:30Speaker 2: To too complex?
- 50:31Speaker 4: Okay, yeah, so that is uh, that is all I
- 50:35Speaker 4: will say. And then, as Wookie has eluded, how we
- 50:40Speaker 4: close out this insight into Silas is by just reminding
- 50:47Speaker 4: all of the listeners. Knowledge is power, but secrets are paramount.
- 50:55Speaker 4: Are you ready to talk about events?
- 50:56Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 50:57Speaker 4: Go for it, all right, aces back on.
- 51:02Speaker 2: Just so everyone knows. I just want everyone to know.
- 51:04Speaker 2: So just so you know, like Cole doesn't tell us
- 51:05Speaker 2: what it does afterward, like he he just kind of
- 51:10Speaker 2: keeps a lot with the same thing. And during the
- 51:12Speaker 2: week we'll get some like little tidbits in our like
- 51:16Speaker 2: our private chat we have, and he'll like put in
- 51:19Speaker 2: little tidbits and until eventually, like me and Dexter get
- 51:23Speaker 2: bored because we can't figure it out and we still
- 51:29Speaker 2: won't know. But we've given up.
- 51:33Speaker 4: I have I have said what I have come here
- 51:36Speaker 4: to say.
- 51:36Speaker 2: I came here to chew bubble gum and be ambiguous
- 51:40Speaker 2: and I'm all out.
- 51:41Speaker 4: Of all I'm gonna say is the is the last
- 51:46Speaker 4: hint is I am very scared for Akesha to have
- 51:52Speaker 4: this card, and uh, I'm very I really just need
- 51:57Speaker 4: to push her off a cliff.
- 51:58Speaker 3: But I thought you already did.
- 52:01Speaker 4: I'm working on it, working on it. She keeps coming
- 52:03Speaker 4: back somehow.
- 52:06Speaker 2: It's not that it attaches it to like your hero card.
- 52:09Speaker 2: You're able to use her ability to the additional time
- 52:12Speaker 2: this round? Is it okay?
- 52:13Speaker 4: Thinking too complex?
- 52:15Speaker 2: Like I said, when that seems very simple, because gives
- 52:19Speaker 2: me or what use me usually triggers off of what
- 52:21Speaker 2: manut worbs no no.
- 52:25Speaker 4: So use me or what they like to do is
- 52:28Speaker 4: cast a lot of spells.
- 52:29Speaker 3: Right and control the opponent.
- 52:34Speaker 2: I can't imagine there's going to be a card that
- 52:36Speaker 2: like makes your spells cost less, because that's going to
- 52:40Speaker 2: get that's going to get a rotten a heartbeat.
- 52:42Speaker 4: There's already like five.
- 52:43Speaker 2: That I know, and I'm surprised they're not erotted yet,
- 52:46Speaker 2: Like I'm shocked, like robin Hood too powerful. But you know,
- 52:50Speaker 2: I'm gonna shut them off because next that'll be on
- 52:53Speaker 2: the next cycle and they're already targeting all the cards
- 52:57Speaker 2: I love. So anyway, so he heard about it. I
- 53:01Speaker 2: don't even know if they probably don't know me, but
- 53:03Speaker 2: they're like, oh, this show heard about it. It's time
- 53:04Speaker 2: to start banning shit.
- 53:06Speaker 4: Yeah, well we'll see when all of the secrets are revealed.
- 53:13Speaker 4: But just know that I went.
- 53:18Speaker 2: All the secrets and he's hiding them from even us.
- 53:22Speaker 4: Maybe I am Silas all along.
- 53:24Speaker 2: Maybe maybe I don't know all right, events, we have
- 53:29Speaker 2: events that are still going on. Let's not forget about
- 53:31Speaker 2: those events.
- 53:33Speaker 4: Yeah, aces back on Sunday. The championship will be on
- 53:38Speaker 4: May eighteenth. Feel pretty sure of that. You still have
- 53:43Speaker 4: time to qualify, so join the discord. Get more information.
- 53:48Speaker 4: There is prizing this upcoming Sunday will have Easter bonus,
- 53:55Speaker 4: which if you're hearing this on Tuesday, why haven't you
- 53:58Speaker 4: already been in the discord so you would have known, Or.
- 54:01Speaker 2: You could be a Patreon and maybe get this on
- 54:03Speaker 2: like a Saturday.
- 54:05Speaker 4: Yep, yep, you could know then too. Tumults, We have
- 54:10Speaker 4: Austin and san Antonio looking to schedule one. I think
- 54:16Speaker 4: san Antonio actually already has the date. It is at
- 54:23Speaker 4: the Printed Meeople on the twenty sixth at twelve pm.
- 54:28Speaker 2: It took me to realize you said mepal. Yep, I
- 54:33Speaker 2: thought you said. I thought totally thought you said the
- 54:35Speaker 2: printed meatball. But anyway, don't listen to me though.
- 54:41Speaker 4: Those will go up on the altered corner website when
- 54:44Speaker 4: I get a little more information or like a promotional
- 54:48Speaker 4: image or something. Austin will most likely be on a Monday,
- 54:52Speaker 4: and the first one I've heard of it will be
- 54:55Speaker 4: at Wonko's. I'm still waiting on game Nerds Dallas to
- 54:59Speaker 4: like announced one, but I don't know. I go to
- 55:04Speaker 4: packs on the seventh, and the tumults for this season
- 55:09Speaker 4: only last until the eleventh, so I'm not certain I'm
- 55:14Speaker 4: gonna make it to another one, but we'll see. And
- 55:18Speaker 4: then online events aqz a Wall and you see all
- 55:23Speaker 4: still going strong. And then Gopher Altered is coming back
- 55:29Speaker 4: I think near the end of the month, so check
- 55:31Speaker 4: that out. But that's about it for events. And now
- 55:37Speaker 4: I've talked far too much, so I'll let you guys
- 55:40Speaker 4: start with the Patreon.
- 55:42Speaker 2: All right, Patreon questions erin again. If you guys want
- 55:45Speaker 2: to submit questions, don't feel free to submit them over
- 55:48Speaker 2: on the Patreon for as little as a dollar a month.
- 55:51Speaker 2: You two can help Cole Robbie continue to be very
- 55:56Speaker 2: melodramatic and not tell any of his co hosts anything.
- 56:02Speaker 2: But this first one is coming from Dracona. What Dexter
- 56:08Speaker 2: are you at home?
- 56:10Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 56:10Speaker 3: I know is your mom there, she's downstairs.
- 56:14Speaker 2: You tell her high for me.
- 56:16Speaker 3: I will make sure to do that.
- 56:18Speaker 4: Please do m It's been it's been a while since
- 56:22Speaker 4: we've shot, a.
- 56:22Speaker 2: While since we've shouted out Mama Dexter.
- 56:25Speaker 4: And also shout out to blues Mom. Nancy. You're real
- 56:29Speaker 4: og Nancy.
- 56:31Speaker 2: The real Nancy. Well, I'll add her to the list
- 56:35Speaker 2: of shout outs every every week. But Patreon questions, how
- 56:39Speaker 2: does the economy, How does the economy feel at the
- 56:42Speaker 2: moment with the beta marketplace going? Do you feel the
- 56:46Speaker 2: beta is ready for lis? This is more of a
- 56:47Speaker 2: question for you guys. I am not a part of
- 56:49Speaker 2: the beta.
- 56:50Speaker 1: Yep.
- 56:50Speaker 3: I think it's great. I mean, for rayars at least
- 56:53Speaker 3: the most expensive card me and Cole talked about this
- 56:56Speaker 3: beforehand is actually Occlute at three dollars and fifty cents,
- 56:59Speaker 3: and then most rares you can get for less than
- 57:02Speaker 3: a dollar, all commons you can get for five cents,
- 57:06Speaker 3: and uniques there's a wide rang likely be able to
- 57:11Speaker 3: find three solid uniques that you want in your deck
- 57:14Speaker 3: for less than fifty dollars.
- 57:16Speaker 4: Yep. As a top probably, So there's kind of like
- 57:20Speaker 4: two two crowds right now. There's the crowd that like
- 57:26Speaker 4: thinks or believes or whatever that TCGs have to be
- 57:34Speaker 4: expensive and have chase cards, so that crowd sees those
- 57:40Speaker 4: low prices and thinks, oh no, But I you know,
- 57:45Speaker 4: as hard as it is, and as it is at
- 57:47Speaker 4: uphill Battle, I really enjoy how Altered is trying to
- 57:54Speaker 4: be a lot more cost friendly of ATCG. So I
- 58:01Speaker 4: love seeing the prices. Uniques are actually kind of funny,
- 58:05Speaker 4: Like there will be a unique that's pretty good you
- 58:08Speaker 4: can get for ten bucks, and then if you keep going.
- 58:12Speaker 4: Because how I usually sort it is, I go to
- 58:15Speaker 4: the faction I want. Maybe I'll enter a character if
- 58:19Speaker 4: I think they might have a specific ability, and then
- 58:22Speaker 4: I start lowest and go up. I am literally seen
- 58:27Speaker 4: cards that someone listed for ten dollars that are like
- 58:31Speaker 4: two times better than some cards someone for some reason
- 58:34Speaker 4: listed at fifty dollars.
- 58:36Speaker 3: Yep. So I would definitely agree with that it is.
- 58:39Speaker 4: It is very funny. I think the system of the
- 58:43Speaker 4: market itself is fucking amazing. I think a lot of
- 58:49Speaker 4: people really undervalue how well done it is because they
- 58:53Speaker 4: get hung up on one. You can't search very specific
- 58:59Speaker 4: unique card text, which sure would be an amazing feature,
- 59:06Speaker 4: but that or their their Visa card is blocking the transaction.
- 59:13Speaker 4: But when you tell them that it's Visa and to
- 59:16Speaker 4: call Visa and tell them it's fine, they'll be like, no,
- 59:19Speaker 4: I don't think it's Visa, And I'm just like someone
- 59:23Speaker 4: already did this. They called Visa, it was Visa, so uh.
- 59:27Speaker 4: And then just things I've said on previous episodes, it's
- 59:30Speaker 4: a beta. We're here to test. You know.
- 59:34Speaker 3: If I have had no bugs on my end, I
- 59:37Speaker 3: will say that everything has worked very smoothly for me.
- 59:40Speaker 4: Yep, I think it's very well.
- 59:42Speaker 3: Have not yet tried to transfer any of my earnings
- 59:45Speaker 3: back into my account or tried to actually refill the wallet,
- 59:48Speaker 3: but I've made one hundred and thirty bucks just selling
- 59:52Speaker 3: my cards.
- 59:53Speaker 4: I'll sell sell. I don't think there is another system
- 59:57Speaker 4: for a game that exists like this, and if there is,
- 1:00:02Speaker 4: you should definitely show it to me because I would
- 1:00:04Speaker 4: love to see it.
- 1:00:05Speaker 2: Yeah, all right. Do you think foiled uniques should add
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: value to a card for selling?
- 1:00:16Speaker 4: So this one is in the terms of altered This
- 1:00:21Speaker 4: one can be answered a couple different ways. I think
- 1:00:26Speaker 4: if you're talking about like selling the physical version, technically
- 1:00:33Speaker 4: it should increase the value. And if you're talking about
- 1:00:39Speaker 4: the Kickstarter alt arts, which are also foiled, those are
- 1:00:44Speaker 4: going to increase the value. Other than that, when you
- 1:00:51Speaker 4: sell a unique on the market, you're not really selling
- 1:00:54Speaker 4: a foiled card if it's just like a card that
- 1:00:58Speaker 4: you foiled. If that makes sense, because you just unlocked
- 1:01:03Speaker 4: your rights to foil that card name, you're not selling
- 1:01:08Speaker 4: a foiled card, like I've unlocked the rights to foil
- 1:01:12Speaker 4: parvody forever, any parvody. If I sell a parvody, it
- 1:01:17Speaker 4: doesn't also sell my right to foil it.
- 1:01:24Speaker 2: Not gonna lie. That's slightly confusing.
- 1:01:28Speaker 4: It makes sense if you've foiled cards and altered and
- 1:01:30Speaker 4: like know the difference and whatnot. But like if it's
- 1:01:35Speaker 4: a shen Long from the Kickstarter, then yeah, it's probably
- 1:01:38Speaker 4: more valuable because it's an altar and those just also
- 1:01:41Speaker 4: happen to be foiled, and it's the Kickstarter, so it's
- 1:01:45Speaker 4: gonna become harder and harder to obtain. Creative in the
- 1:01:51Speaker 4: live audience says, I need Dexter's tips on selling cards.
- 1:01:54Speaker 4: The tip is he just sells everything.
- 1:01:59Speaker 3: Yeah, I literally everything pretty much at what the current
- 1:02:02Speaker 3: asking price is or slightly less if I think it's
- 1:02:05Speaker 3: currently overpriced.
- 1:02:07Speaker 4: Yeah, most people will sell it if they have like extra.
- 1:02:11Speaker 4: But if Dexter's not using it and it's not.
- 1:02:13Speaker 3: Nail, if I'm not using it in my deck, I
- 1:02:15Speaker 3: will put it on the marketplace. Even if I am
- 1:02:17Speaker 3: using it, I will put it on the marketplace for
- 1:02:19Speaker 3: like three times the value. I think it's worth to
- 1:02:22Speaker 3: give myself some insurance that I'll probably keep it. But
- 1:02:25Speaker 3: if I don't, then I sell it for money and
- 1:02:26Speaker 3: I get money. I like money.
- 1:02:31Speaker 2: Dexter's a college. Let's just put it Dexter. Dexter doesn't understand.
- 1:02:37Speaker 2: But it's okay.
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: What do I not understand?
- 1:02:41Speaker 2: Stuff? And things? Coral? Clearly your math homework? How's your
- 1:02:45Speaker 2: math going?
- 1:02:47Speaker 3: Math is great? Actually my last exam, I actually think
- 1:02:49Speaker 3: I got a ninety seven.
- 1:02:51Speaker 2: It's about damn time.
- 1:02:53Speaker 3: Hey, I'm doing good in math. Calculus two is not
- 1:02:55Speaker 3: that bad. I have an A in that class.
- 1:02:58Speaker 4: Wow.
- 1:02:58Speaker 3: Chemistry is the problem we've talked about.
- 1:03:01Speaker 2: You can't balance equate. You can't balance chemical equations.
- 1:03:04Speaker 3: Now balancing, I'm good. Just all the other stuff, I'm not.
- 1:03:07Speaker 2: What's the other stuff?
- 1:03:10Speaker 4: You know?
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: What? Also?
- 1:03:11Speaker 3: I don't know That's why I'm not good at what's that?
- 1:03:15Speaker 3: What happened?
- 1:03:16Speaker 4: I played in a tumult on Saturday?
- 1:03:19Speaker 3: Yeah, that did happen.
- 1:03:23Speaker 4: Well, we're getting here to the ends of the episode,
- 1:03:27Speaker 4: so I'll make it quick. But uh, it was. Dallas
- 1:03:31Speaker 4: is such a weird area. I really don't know how
- 1:03:35Speaker 4: to solve Dallas. My only idea is we had a
- 1:03:41Speaker 4: good group at the start when we only had one store,
- 1:03:46Speaker 4: and then another store opened and they put their op
- 1:03:50Speaker 4: on the same day and it fractured the group. And
- 1:03:54Speaker 4: then after a while they moved it to a different day.
- 1:03:58Speaker 4: But I think since you know, yeah, and a handful
- 1:04:02Speaker 4: of of the people they do live closer to that store,
- 1:04:05Speaker 4: so they just go there now. But I was really
- 1:04:09Speaker 4: surprised to see like none of them at the tumult
- 1:04:14Speaker 4: at common Ground because there hasn't been another one in
- 1:04:19Speaker 4: Dallas yet. So we only had six people, which was
- 1:04:23Speaker 4: a little disappointing. At first, I thought it was going
- 1:04:29Speaker 4: to make my fight for a Scout card seem less
- 1:04:35Speaker 4: hard fought, but in the end it actually made it
- 1:04:38Speaker 4: harder because we had less than eight people. I had
- 1:04:44Speaker 4: to rematch and a fawnest that I had already lost
- 1:04:48Speaker 4: to to try and get into the top four and
- 1:04:53Speaker 4: then also get the scout card from Muna and then
- 1:04:58Speaker 4: if the Muna the the other MUNA player would have
- 1:05:02Speaker 4: also won their rematch, then it would have come down
- 1:05:05Speaker 4: to some kind of tie break areer. Luckily I won
- 1:05:09Speaker 4: against the Afanas and the other Moona lost, so I
- 1:05:13Speaker 4: got the scout. I got into top four, faced eli
- 1:05:16Speaker 4: Oh in the first round and lost against Elio, who
- 1:05:21Speaker 4: ended up winning it on Kojo, so not surprising. But
- 1:05:25Speaker 4: I did get the Moona Scout, so happy about that.
- 1:05:28Speaker 4: And everyone was automatically top eight so we all got
- 1:05:32Speaker 4: foiled to molt cards and yeah, it was pretty good.
- 1:05:37Speaker 4: But hopefully some of the other ones see more people.
- 1:05:42Speaker 4: The ones in Houston already seem like they're going to
- 1:05:45Speaker 4: have like ten plus people from what we've been hearing.
- 1:05:50Speaker 4: But we'll see.
- 1:05:51Speaker 3: That's the hope we'll see.
- 1:05:55Speaker 2: Alrighty, Well, another episode is in the can. Hopefully can
- 1:06:00Speaker 2: get this. Hopefully it's Saturday and you're listening to this
- 1:06:02Speaker 2: because you're one of our patrons.
- 1:06:05Speaker 4: I won't ask you for it, don't worry.
- 1:06:08Speaker 2: You will you won't.
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: No, I won't.
- 1:06:10Speaker 4: I didn't last time.
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: I just I just let it happen.
- 1:06:12Speaker 2: Yeah, it's you just gotta let it happen naturally, and
- 1:06:16Speaker 2: I'll get it there, just the pross eventually.
- 1:06:19Speaker 4: So if it if you get the Patreon episode Monday
- 1:06:22Speaker 4: at six pm, don't blame me.
- 1:06:24Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I'd blame.
- 1:06:28Speaker 4: Is there anything you want to plug or anything we
- 1:06:31Speaker 4: should say at the end here, Wookie, you're the plug guy.
- 1:06:35Speaker 2: No, make sure you go check out our friends. Who
- 1:06:39Speaker 2: are our friends? Call you?
- 1:06:42Speaker 4: Forgot the name already?
- 1:06:43Speaker 2: No getting.
- 1:06:48Speaker 4: Yeah? Really Actually, honestly, it's been great to see altered
- 1:06:54Speaker 4: content becoming more frequent and more popular. So obvious shout
- 1:07:00Speaker 4: out to a Hero's Guide to as Gartha.
- 1:07:03Speaker 2: That's more who I was going with. I don't know
- 1:07:05Speaker 2: all the other ones.
- 1:07:06Speaker 4: Yeah. Also, we need to actually sit down and come
- 1:07:10Speaker 4: up with a tournament so that we can get our
- 1:07:12Speaker 4: asses kicked. And then really just watch everyone on YouTube
- 1:07:19Speaker 4: that you can. So Keelan guy never makes videos, probably
- 1:07:23Speaker 4: doesn't listen to this, but go check him out. Leoh
- 1:07:28Speaker 4: makes very good deck Videoskojo Maine Victorio, and then Blue
- 1:07:34Speaker 4: Oak TV. Eventually myself and Freeloader as well. We'll have
- 1:07:39Speaker 4: videos on the Rotisserie draft and I don't want to
- 1:07:43Speaker 4: co opt the whole thing because Elo set it all up.
- 1:07:47Speaker 4: If Leo doesn't want to set up another round, maybe
- 1:07:51Speaker 4: I will get his blessing and get together another group
- 1:07:55Speaker 4: after this one's finished and we can do it again.
- 1:07:58Speaker 3: I would definitely volunteer to play in one of those.
- 1:08:00Speaker 3: That seems super fun.
- 1:08:02Speaker 2: Yeah, bar. With that being said, what's another episode in
- 1:08:07Speaker 2: the can Thank you to all of our friends all
- 1:08:10Speaker 2: over the world, and we will see you all next time.
