- 0:11Speaker 1: You are listening to The Bible Explained with Jen Koukl,
- 0:14Speaker 1: a P40 Ministries podcast. Hi, faithful listeners, and welcome to
- 0:18Speaker 1: The Bible Explained podcast on this lovely, lovely morning. I
- 0:22Speaker 1: hope you all are ready to discuss 1 Peter 4
- 0:25Speaker 1: with me. This is the chapter where Peter starts talking
- 0:28Speaker 1: about the do's and don'ts. And I feel like there's
- 0:31Speaker 1: one of these lists in pretty much every single New
- 0:34Speaker 1: Testament book that we've come across so far. How do
- 0:38Speaker 1: we live the Christian life? So that's what we're going
- 0:40Speaker 1: to talk about today and Peter's advice to the church.
- 0:44Speaker 1: Before we dive into this, here's the first sponsored advertisement today.
- 0:49Speaker 1: And thank you for listening to that sponsored ad. Now
- 0:52Speaker 1: let's go ahead and read 1 Peter 4, 7 through 11.
- 0:55Speaker 1: As always, I'll be reading this from the WEB or
- 0:58Speaker 1: the World English Bible. But the end of all things
- 1:02Speaker 1: is near. Therefore, be of sound mind, self-controlled, and sober
- 1:06Speaker 1: in prayer. And above all things, be earnest in your
- 1:09Speaker 1: love among yourselves, for love covers a multitude of sins.
- 1:13Speaker 1: Be hospitable to one another without grumbling. As each has
- 1:16Speaker 1: received a gift, employ it in serving one another, as
- 1:19Speaker 1: good managers of the grace of God in its various forms.
- 1:23Speaker 1: If anyone speaks, let it be as it were the
- 1:25Speaker 1: very words of God. If anyone serves, let it be
- 1:28Speaker 1: as of the strength which God supplies, that in all
- 1:31Speaker 1: things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom
- 1:34Speaker 1: belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.
- 1:40Speaker 1: Starting today in verse 7, Peter says, And what's funny
- 1:43Speaker 1: about that is, you know, Peter wrote.
- 1:46Speaker 2: This, what, like 2,000 years ago?
- 1:51Speaker 1: And yet he was saying way back then that the
- 1:53Speaker 1: end of all things is near. And so people might ask,
- 1:58Speaker 1: did Peter get it wrong? Because he thought that the
- 2:01Speaker 1: end of all things were potentially in his lifetime or
- 2:05Speaker 1: near his lifetime. Well, thankfully, Peter explains what he means
- 2:09Speaker 1: a little bit more in 2 Peter 3, 8 through 10.
- 2:12Speaker 1: He says, quote, don't forget this one thing, beloved. that
- 2:17Speaker 1: one day is with the Lord as a thousand years,
- 2:20Speaker 1: and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is
- 2:23Speaker 1: not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness, but
- 2:27Speaker 1: he is patient with us, not wishing that anyone should perish,
- 2:30Speaker 1: but that all should come to repentance. But the day
- 2:33Speaker 1: of the Lord will come as a thief in the night,
- 2:35Speaker 1: in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise,
- 2:38Speaker 1: and the elements will be dissolved with fervent heat, and
- 2:41Speaker 1: the earth and the works that are in it will
- 2:43Speaker 1: be burned up. So Peter answers everybody that has that question.
- 2:47Speaker 1: How long is it going to take for God to return?
- 2:50Speaker 1: Are we actually in the end days? Was Peter actually
- 2:53Speaker 1: in the end days? Was Peter wrong in believing that
- 2:57Speaker 1: the end times was sooner rather than later? Well, no,
- 3:00Speaker 1: because Peter explains that to Jesus, a day is like
- 3:04Speaker 1: a thousand years and a thousand years is like a day.
- 3:07Speaker 1: In other words, because God created time, he is not
- 3:10Speaker 1: constrained to it. He is outside of time. And so
- 3:13Speaker 1: time to him is both like a thousand years and
- 3:17Speaker 1: also like a day. And he's also not slow in
- 3:20Speaker 1: keeping his promises is what Peter says, but he's patient rather,
- 3:25Speaker 1: not wishing that anyone should perish, but that all should
- 3:28Speaker 1: come to repentance. So God is not being slow in
- 3:31Speaker 1: fulfilling his promise of having Jesus come back a second time. Rather,
- 3:36Speaker 1: he is patiently waiting. It says not wishing that anyone
- 3:40Speaker 1: should perish, but that all should come to repentance. So
- 3:44Speaker 1: God wishes that all of us, every single human being
- 3:48Speaker 1: would come to repentance in him and finally believe in him.
- 3:52Speaker 1: So in other words, God is waiting for the exact
- 3:54Speaker 1: right time in history to have Jesus come back again
- 3:59Speaker 1: for the second time, just as he waited for the
- 4:01Speaker 1: first time around. There's an excellent book written by J.
- 4:04Speaker 1: Warner Wallace called Person of Interest, which talks about why
- 4:08Speaker 1: Jesus came at the moment that he did. and why
- 4:11Speaker 1: history was ready for Jesus to come, and how if
- 4:15Speaker 1: he would have come any sooner or later, it just
- 4:18Speaker 1: would not have been as effective as the time period
- 4:21Speaker 1: that he actually showed up in. It's a very interesting read.
- 4:25Speaker 1: It took me only a few days to get through
- 4:27Speaker 1: the book. So that's something that I recommend if you
- 4:29Speaker 1: guys are interested in that subject. But the same thing
- 4:33Speaker 1: is going to happen for Jesus's second return. He is
- 4:36Speaker 1: going to wait for the exact right moment to return.
- 4:40Speaker 1: And to Jesus, who is outside of time, the end
- 4:43Speaker 1: of all things truly is near. It says in scripture
- 4:47Speaker 1: that each one of us, our lives are like a breath,
- 4:51Speaker 1: like a breath of God. He just breathes out and
- 4:55Speaker 1: we're gone. That is how fast our lives are over
- 4:59Speaker 1: in the eyes of God. So to Jesus, the end
- 5:02Speaker 1: of all things truly is near. Now to us, it
- 5:05Speaker 1: might seem like it's taking forever, but it will be soon.
- 5:09Speaker 1: And we have to act ourselves as if it's soon.
- 5:12Speaker 1: That's what Jesus actually tells us in Matthew 24, 42
- 5:15Speaker 1: through 44, which says, watch therefore, for you don't know
- 5:19Speaker 1: in what hour your Lord comes, but know this, that
- 5:23Speaker 1: if the master of the house had known in what
- 5:25Speaker 1: watch of the night the thief was coming, he would
- 5:27Speaker 1: have watched and would not have allowed his house to
- 5:30Speaker 1: be broken into. Therefore also be ready for in an
- 5:33Speaker 1: hour that you don't expect the son of man will come.
- 5:37Speaker 1: So even if we don't know what time Jesus is coming,
- 5:40Speaker 1: and none of us do, Jesus himself said that he
- 5:43Speaker 1: doesn't even know what time he's returning.
- 5:45Speaker 2: Only the Father knows.
- 5:47Speaker 1: So if Jesus, who is God, does not know what
- 5:51Speaker 1: time he's returning, then you and I certainly do not know.
- 5:55Speaker 1: Matthew 24, 36, this is Jesus speaking. No one knows
- 5:59Speaker 1: what day and hour, not even the angels of heaven,
- 6:01Speaker 1: but my Father only. So We are never going to
- 6:05Speaker 1: know when Jesus returns until he actually does. So the
- 6:08Speaker 1: goal is to act as if the end of all
- 6:13Speaker 1: things is near.
- 6:15Speaker 2: But here's the thing.
- 6:16Speaker 1: Technically, the end of all things is near for each
- 6:19Speaker 1: of us because all of us are going to die.
- 6:22Speaker 1: And none of us know the day or the hour
- 6:25Speaker 1: in which we will die. We have no clue. You know,
- 6:28Speaker 1: I could die tonight for all I know. I have
- 6:30Speaker 1: no clue the day that I'm going to meet Jesus
- 6:33Speaker 1: face to face. So we should be acting as if
- 6:36Speaker 1: the end of all things truly is near because in
- 6:39Speaker 1: our own lives, our lives being as fast as a
- 6:42Speaker 1: breath in the eyes of Jesus, the end of all
- 6:46Speaker 1: things really is near. So we need to act as
- 6:48Speaker 1: if it is. And so here's how Peter tells us
- 6:51Speaker 1: to act, knowing that the end of all things is near. Firstly,
- 6:55Speaker 1: we need to be of sound mind, self-controlled and sober
- 7:00Speaker 1: in prayer. All three of these things, sound mind, self-controlled
- 7:04Speaker 1: and sober. They're related because all three of them have
- 7:07Speaker 1: to do with thinking rationally about something. So in other words,
- 7:11Speaker 1: having a sound mind, that means not being fearful or
- 7:15Speaker 1: anxious over every little thing that comes up in our lives.
- 7:19Speaker 1: And Peter tells us also to be self-controlled. That means
- 7:21Speaker 1: not becoming super angry or offended or heated over every
- 7:25Speaker 1: little thing that happens to us, but maintaining self-composure when
- 7:31Speaker 1: somebody insults us or mistreats us or just offends us
- 7:36Speaker 1: in whatever way. And also being sober in prayer. I
- 7:40Speaker 1: think this has to do both with, you know, being
- 7:42Speaker 1: sober in general, you know, not allowing alcohol to affect
- 7:46Speaker 1: our brains. You know, scripture says that We can drink alcohol.
- 7:49Speaker 1: There's nothing wrong with alcohol in and of itself. But
- 7:53Speaker 1: once it turns into drunkenness, well, that's when we start
- 7:58Speaker 1: falling into sin. So we have to be sober physically
- 8:01Speaker 1: and also sober in prayer. So not coming to God,
- 8:06Speaker 1: acting as if we are drunk, acting as if we
- 8:09Speaker 1: have no self-control. In 1 Corinthians, I think it was 15.
- 8:13Speaker 1: I did not look this verse up. Paul was talking
- 8:16Speaker 1: a lot about how Christians need to be self-controlled in
- 8:21Speaker 1: the way that they worship God, because God is not
- 8:24Speaker 1: the author of confusion. And the Holy Spirit does not
- 8:27Speaker 1: cause people to go into a state of disarray. And
- 8:31Speaker 1: he tells the Corinthian church how they should be worshiping
- 8:33Speaker 1: God in a very orderly type of way. So we
- 8:37Speaker 1: should incorporate that orderliness in our prayer lives, especially in
- 8:41Speaker 1: front of other people, especially as a congregation of believers.
- 8:45Speaker 1: Right now in church, it's very popular for people to
- 8:49Speaker 1: not have orderliness in their church services. And by the way,
- 8:53Speaker 1: this doesn't mean we have to be regimented with every
- 8:55Speaker 1: single thing that we do. This doesn't mean we have
- 8:57Speaker 1: to put on a production and only sit there with
- 9:00Speaker 1: our hands together, looking straight at the stage, and we
- 9:03Speaker 1: can't have any emotion whatsoever. That is not what I'm
- 9:05Speaker 1: talking about when I say orderliness. I'm sure many of
- 9:09Speaker 1: you listening to this podcast have seen videos that are
- 9:13Speaker 1: very popular right now of church services that just seem
- 9:16Speaker 1: almost chaotic, where people are like running up and down
- 9:20Speaker 1: the stage, kind of flying all over the place, maybe
- 9:22Speaker 1: shaking uncontrollably, rolling around on the ground, speaking incoherently, blowing
- 9:28Speaker 1: into the microphone, screaming in the middle of church services.
- 9:33Speaker 1: Just that kind of behavior is exactly what Paul and
- 9:37Speaker 1: Peter did. I think, are talking about here that we
- 9:39Speaker 1: should not be doing in church. Because ultimately, I would
- 9:42Speaker 1: argue that that is putting on a show. It can
- 9:44Speaker 1: go either way. If it is insincere, regardless of what
- 9:48Speaker 1: kind of a church service it is, whether your church
- 9:51Speaker 1: forces you to just stand there like a statue and
- 9:53Speaker 1: not have any emotion whatsoever, or either the other way
- 9:56Speaker 1: of having too much emotion and really trying to make
- 10:00Speaker 1: people feel something that might not necessarily be there, both
- 10:03Speaker 1: of those are insincere toward God. So I would argue
- 10:07Speaker 1: that being sober in prayer just means being sincere toward
- 10:12Speaker 1: God and having that genuine sincerity in before God. And
- 10:17Speaker 1: he says in verse eight, though, above all things, be
- 10:20Speaker 1: earnest in your love among yourselves, for love covers a
- 10:24Speaker 1: multitude of sins.
- 10:27Speaker 2: Now, I'm not going to lie.
- 10:27Speaker 1: I've had some trouble with this verse over the years,
- 10:30Speaker 1: because when I was an early Christian, I used to
- 10:33Speaker 1: read this verse thinking that Peter was saying we all
- 10:36Speaker 1: had to be a doormat and let people walk over
- 10:38Speaker 1: us and we have to love them and that love
- 10:40Speaker 1: will cover their sins so that God doesn't judge those
- 10:44Speaker 1: people anymore. But the one thing that I was forgetting
- 10:47Speaker 1: is about my own personal sin. The love covering a
- 10:52Speaker 1: multitude of sins isn't necessarily for the person that hurt you.
- 10:57Speaker 1: If you show love to other people, you might be
- 10:59Speaker 1: covering over some of the sins that you have.
- 11:02Speaker 2: Though it could be for other people as well.
- 11:04Speaker 1: But I think the one thing I was forgetting is
- 11:07Speaker 1: that I'm also a sinful human being. And it's not
- 11:11Speaker 1: just the people that hurt me that have the sins.
- 11:14Speaker 2: I also.
- 11:15Speaker 1: have many sins in my own life. And so if
- 11:18Speaker 1: I just retaliate against anybody who ever offended me, then
- 11:22Speaker 1: that is me not showing love to another person. And
- 11:26Speaker 1: it could be that that person might not even have
- 11:29Speaker 1: intended to offend me and I flew off the handle anyway,
- 11:34Speaker 1: not knowing the entire situation. Instead of covering over the
- 11:39Speaker 1: multitude of sins in my own life and even in
- 11:42Speaker 1: the person that didn't intend to hurt me, I caused
- 11:45Speaker 1: even more sins by not showing love to that individual
- 11:49Speaker 1: or talking it through with that individual. So Peter says
- 11:53Speaker 1: it's better to show love and stop the sin right
- 11:56Speaker 1: there than adding to even more sins. So love covers
- 12:01Speaker 1: over a multitude of sins. And you can imagine if
- 12:04Speaker 1: the church body showed more love to each other, and
- 12:09Speaker 1: wasn't constantly like backbiting or snipping at each other over
- 12:12Speaker 1: every little thing, then the churches would be in a
- 12:14Speaker 1: much healthier place overall. So now in verse 9, he says,
- 12:19Speaker 1: So Peter talks about these gifts that each and every
- 12:21Speaker 1: one of us have. These are sometimes referred to as
- 12:37Speaker 1: the spiritual gifts, which are talked about in 1 Corinthians 12,
- 12:41Speaker 1: 4 through 11, which says, Now there are various kinds
- 12:45Speaker 1: of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are various kinds
- 12:47Speaker 1: of service and the same Lord. There are various kinds
- 12:50Speaker 1: of workings, but the same God who works all things
- 12:53Speaker 1: in all. But to each one is given the manifestation
- 12:56Speaker 1: of the Spirit for the profit of all. For to
- 12:59Speaker 1: one is given through the Spirit the word of wisdom,
- 13:01Speaker 1: to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit,
- 13:05Speaker 1: to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another
- 13:08Speaker 1: gifts of healing by the same Spirit, and to another
- 13:11Speaker 1: workings of miracles, and to another prophecy, and to another
- 13:14Speaker 1: discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of languages, and
- 13:18Speaker 1: to another the interpretation of languages. But the one and
- 13:21Speaker 1: the same Spirit produces all of these, distributing to each
- 13:24Speaker 1: one separately as he desires. Those are called the spiritual
- 13:28Speaker 1: gifts and Paul was arguing right there that there is
- 13:31Speaker 1: not one particular gift that is above another. They all
- 13:36Speaker 1: come from the same spirit. The spirit gives them to
- 13:39Speaker 1: each person that he thinks is the best for that
- 13:42Speaker 1: particular spiritual gift. And so no person that has what
- 13:47Speaker 1: they think is a better spiritual gift should look down
- 13:49Speaker 1: on somebody that doesn't have what they think is a
- 13:52Speaker 1: lesser spiritual gift because they're all one and the same, essentially.
- 13:56Speaker 1: And he mentions all sorts of spiritual gifts. He mentions
- 13:59Speaker 1: healings and words of knowledge and words of wisdom. He
- 14:03Speaker 1: mentions miracles and prophecies and the discerning of spirits, as
- 14:07Speaker 1: well as speaking in tongues. Now, I am not a cessationist.
- 14:13Speaker 1: I will say that straight out. In fact, I don't
- 14:15Speaker 1: think there's any evidence in scripture that the gifts have ceased,
- 14:20Speaker 1: which is what cessationism means, that the gifts have ceased.
- 14:23Speaker 1: that only certain gifts are still around to this day.
- 14:26Speaker 1: So the cessationist would say the gift of faith is
- 14:29Speaker 1: still around or the gift of knowledge is still around,
- 14:34Speaker 1: but not the gifts of miracles or healings or prophecy
- 14:39Speaker 1: or anything like that. But the reason I don't believe
- 14:41Speaker 1: in that is because there's nothing in scripture that says
- 14:44Speaker 1: that the gifts have ceased. The only one that I
- 14:46Speaker 1: could see some argument for is the gift of apostleship,
- 14:51Speaker 1: because the 12 apostles had a very specific function during
- 14:54Speaker 1: the days of Jesus, and they don't necessarily have that
- 14:57Speaker 1: function anymore. Plus, in order to be an apostle, you
- 15:00Speaker 1: have to have seen Jesus. You have to have seen him.
- 15:06Speaker 1: That was one of the requirements of being an apostle,
- 15:08Speaker 1: and I don't think in our age today that anybody
- 15:11Speaker 1: really has seen Jesus. So I could see the argument
- 15:16Speaker 1: for apostleship being the one gift of the Spirit that
- 15:21Speaker 1: may not really be around in this day and age
- 15:24Speaker 1: anymore as it was in the days of Jesus.
- 15:28Speaker 2: But as far as the other gifts go.
- 15:30Speaker 1: I don't see any biblical evidence for them disappearing. In fact,
- 15:35Speaker 1: it says in the end days that people will prophesy,
- 15:39Speaker 1: that people will dream dreams. And so to me, that
- 15:42Speaker 1: sounds like the gift of prophecy. So no, I don't
- 15:45Speaker 1: think that the gifts have disappeared. But going back to
- 15:48Speaker 1: 1 Peter 4, Peter does say that each person has
- 15:53Speaker 1: received a gift. So each Christian who believes in Jesus
- 15:56Speaker 1: ends up receiving at least one spiritual gift. And Peter
- 16:00Speaker 1: says that we have to employ that gift in serving
- 16:03Speaker 1: one another as good managers of the grace of God
- 16:06Speaker 1: in its various forms. So that's another way that we
- 16:10Speaker 1: wait for Jesus is by serving each other with the
- 16:13Speaker 1: spiritual gift that each of us has. And also in
- 16:17Speaker 1: verse 11, if we speak, let it be as it
- 16:20Speaker 1: were the very words of God. Now, Peter is not
- 16:23Speaker 1: making us out to be like God right here. He's
- 16:25Speaker 1: saying we should be having the same language as God.
- 16:29Speaker 1: So speaking not in a sinful kind of way, not
- 16:33Speaker 1: in the way that James talks about, where James was like,
- 16:35Speaker 1: you know, the tongue is a flame of fire that
- 16:38Speaker 1: consumes everything it touches. One minute it is speaking, you know,
- 16:42Speaker 1: pleasant words about Jesus, and the next it's cursing a
- 16:46Speaker 1: brother or sister in Christ. So we can't have our
- 16:48Speaker 1: tongues be like that as Christians. We have to be
- 16:51Speaker 1: speaking the way that Jesus would want us to speak.
- 16:55Speaker 1: And also Peter says in verse 11, if anyone serves,
- 16:59Speaker 1: let it be as of the strength which God supplies,
- 17:02Speaker 1: that in all things, God may be glorified through Jesus Christ,
- 17:06Speaker 1: to whom belongs the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen. Lastly,
- 17:11Speaker 1: we serve in the way that we can serve. And
- 17:14Speaker 1: this is really nice because it kind of takes the
- 17:16Speaker 1: guilt off, I think, for some of us who can't
- 17:19Speaker 1: serve as much as we want to, either because God
- 17:22Speaker 1: placed something else in our lives that we have to
- 17:25Speaker 1: focus on right now, or because maybe some of us
- 17:28Speaker 1: are sick and we can't serve to the same capacity
- 17:31Speaker 1: that we would like two that we see other people
- 17:34Speaker 1: serving in, we serve to the best capacity that God
- 17:37Speaker 1: allows us to serve. Now, that doesn't mean being lazy
- 17:40Speaker 1: or making excuses or, you know, flaking out because something
- 17:45Speaker 1: better comes up in our lives.
- 17:47Speaker 2: No, of course not.
- 17:47Speaker 1: We're supposed to serve God and others with a genuine
- 17:50Speaker 1: heart in all of this. But we serve to the
- 17:53Speaker 1: best capacity that we can, that God supplies right here,
- 17:57Speaker 1: whatever that might look like. You know, I know some
- 18:00Speaker 1: people who really struggle with this, where they're like, I
- 18:03Speaker 1: wish I could do more, but I just can't for
- 18:07Speaker 1: whatever various reason it might be. But with the gift
- 18:10Speaker 1: that God gave them, they do what they can. For example,
- 18:14Speaker 1: one of them has the gift of prayer. Like this
- 18:17Speaker 1: person just can pray the most beautiful prayers. And she
- 18:21Speaker 1: loves to pray. If I ever come to her with
- 18:23Speaker 1: any kind of problem or concern, she's always like, let's
- 18:26Speaker 1: pray about it. We got to pray about this. And
- 18:29Speaker 1: even though she can't serve the way that she wants
- 18:32Speaker 1: to serve, that is how she utilizes the gift that
- 18:35Speaker 1: God gave her is she sits and she prays for people.
- 18:39Speaker 1: And it's a beautiful way to utilize one of the
- 18:41Speaker 1: spiritual gifts. So basically, Peter is telling us to do
- 18:46Speaker 1: what we can do, to act the way that God
- 18:49Speaker 1: wants us to act, and also to do it in sincerity,
- 18:53Speaker 1: showing genuine love for other people. Because that's not just
- 18:56Speaker 1: going to cover over their sins, but also ours and
- 19:00Speaker 1: not add fuel to the fire, essentially, so that God
- 19:04Speaker 1: can be glorified through Jesus Christ. In verse 11, to
- 19:07Speaker 1: whom belongs the glory and the dominion forever and ever.
- 19:12Speaker 2: Amen.
- 19:16Speaker 1: I think it's interesting because every single New Testament book
- 19:19Speaker 1: that we really study, I feel like has, there's always
- 19:21Speaker 1: like one chapter where there's a list of do's and don'ts.
- 19:25Speaker 2: Do this as a Christian. Don't do this as a Christian.
- 19:28Speaker 1: And I feel like it's always tied back to Jesus's
- 19:31Speaker 1: return is coming very quickly. So it is something that
- 19:35Speaker 1: the apostles believed very strongly that Jesus told us to
- 19:39Speaker 1: be prepared for. And if there's something about it in
- 19:42Speaker 1: pretty much every letter of the New Testament, then I
- 19:44Speaker 1: think you and I should be taking it pretty seriously
- 19:47Speaker 1: as well as we wait for Jesus's return. All right,
- 19:50Speaker 1: faithful listeners, before I close out this episode, please listen
- 19:53Speaker 1: to a message from one of the sponsored advertisements. All right,
- 19:58Speaker 1: faithful listeners, you guys know that one of my favorite
- 20:00Speaker 1: things to do when I close out an episode is
- 20:03Speaker 1: to give you guys a call to action. So the
- 20:07Speaker 1: call to action for today is to read over 1
- 20:10Speaker 1: Peter 4, 7 through 11 yourselves and think about one
- 20:14Speaker 1: of the things that you can implement today. And also
- 20:17Speaker 1: something that you need to pray about, something you might
- 20:20Speaker 1: struggle with in this list. For example, maybe you struggle
- 20:23Speaker 1: with using your gift, your spiritual gift for the church.
- 20:29Speaker 2: Pray about that today, as well.
- 20:30Speaker 1: As trying to implement something from this list to really
- 20:35Speaker 1: Encourage somebody who is around you, especially if that person
- 20:39Speaker 1: is also a Christian themselves. Even if they're not, try
- 20:43Speaker 1: to encourage somebody today based upon this list from 1
- 20:46Speaker 1: Peter 4. And also don't forget that Jesus's return is very,
- 20:50Speaker 1: very near. Faithful listeners, I hope you all have a
- 20:53Speaker 1: fantastic and wonderful rest of your day. I'll see you
- 20:56Speaker 1: guys tomorrow as we talk through Job chapter 2 and
- 21:00Speaker 1: the second phase of Satan's attack on Job's life. We'll
- 21:04Speaker 1: get into that chapter tomorrow. Faithful listeners, have a fantastic
- 21:08Speaker 1: and wonderful, wonderful rest of your day. As always, happy
- 21:12Speaker 1: listening and God bless. I just want to take a
- 21:21Speaker 1: second to thank the team at Life Audio for their
