Latest / Eating While Broke / KID INK & ASIAH COLLINS - Pizza That Toast!
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Hi, I'm Colley Wit. Welcome to Eating while Broken. Today
- 0:03Speaker 1: we have some pretty amazing guests. We have Kidding and
- 0:06Speaker 1: his beautiful, lovely, amazing wife Asia, and today what are
- 0:12Speaker 1: we making? Assie is going to leave this whole episode
- 0:15Speaker 1: and teach us how to make pizza toast? Today's pizza toast. Typically,
- 0:21Speaker 1: if we're talking about eating while broke in the house,
- 0:25Speaker 1: you might not have pizza sauce, but you might have
- 0:27Speaker 1: spaghetti sauce that works as well. You'll usually have bread,
- 0:31Speaker 1: hopefully you know the basics. Cheese. We have some turkey pepperoni,
- 0:36Speaker 1: which I know isn't typical, but we don't eat pork,
- 0:40Speaker 1: and some jalapeno peppers and those are pickled pickled, But
- 0:45Speaker 1: which is interesting? I mean the sliced ones you get
- 0:50Speaker 1: are pickled, like on top of your nachos. Oh okay,
- 0:54Speaker 1: j I thought I had to look it's pickled instead
- 0:58Speaker 1: of fresh. Remind you this. This whole purpose is because
- 1:01Speaker 1: obviously I can't order a pizza, so the next best
- 1:05Speaker 1: this is trying to find whatever ingredients you have at
- 1:08Speaker 1: home to try to make that piece of makes sense.
- 1:11Speaker 1: So first you wash your hands, then you're gonna dress
- 1:16Speaker 1: up your pizza, everyone grabs like, I'll grab one. So
- 1:20Speaker 1: when was the last time you guys can remember actually
- 1:23Speaker 1: eating a meal like this? She was mentioned earlier. We
- 1:27Speaker 1: still have to eat like this occasionally on the road
- 1:30Speaker 1: because on the road, out out there, out the country,
- 1:38Speaker 1: sometimes you have to, you know what I'm saying, get
- 1:39Speaker 1: just as creative based on what you have available to you.
- 1:43Speaker 1: But you find those things and then you mix it
- 1:46Speaker 1: up and whip it up. A couple of noodles is
- 1:48Speaker 1: one of the you know what I'm saying, still regular
- 1:51Speaker 1: things on tour, the ramen any type of noodle work.
- 1:54Speaker 1: Everyone's humbled on sore when you're on a road trip
- 1:57Speaker 1: or you're on the tour bus and your kid dry
- 2:00Speaker 1: the year in the middle of nowhere, whatever that gas
- 2:02Speaker 1: station is that you gotta stop at. Whatever they have
- 2:04Speaker 1: is what you've got, unless you know what I'm saying,
- 2:08Speaker 1: you stocked up at the grocery store, which is something
- 2:11Speaker 1: we learned to do when we would get to cities
- 2:13Speaker 1: that would have the nice grocery store. Like if you're
- 2:15Speaker 1: on tour in Europe and you get to you know,
- 2:18Speaker 1: somewhere like the UK where you think it might be
- 2:20Speaker 1: a lot more familiar imports than maybe Germany. You stock
- 2:24Speaker 1: up over there, and then when I get to Germany,
- 2:26Speaker 1: hopefully I still got a lot of that stuff left over.
- 2:29Speaker 1: A whole plan. I feel like this looks real official
- 2:33Speaker 1: it does. I feel like I'm treating it way better
- 2:36Speaker 1: than I did when I was younger. Obviously I was
- 2:39Speaker 1: probably a little less. Can we add the llapenos after
- 2:45Speaker 1: we cook? Absolutely? Can you can put it on top.
- 2:47Speaker 1: I'm in a bake mine in. Will you pass me
- 2:49Speaker 1: the little cheese with you being a chef Awesia. Yeah.
- 2:58Speaker 1: Do you feel like you had a lot of fun
- 3:00Speaker 1: eating while broke? Um? Yes, you know, we did have
- 3:05Speaker 1: fun eating while broke. We got really creative, Like we
- 3:07Speaker 1: would go we would take the e BT and go
- 3:10Speaker 1: to the Baiata and get you know, a bunch of
- 3:14Speaker 1: produced for cheap and like you know, cheap shrimp like
- 3:18Speaker 1: the little bay shrimps and imitation crab and make ours
- 3:21Speaker 1: to chat for like all day long. You know, when
- 3:26Speaker 1: I was a school by the time I was out
- 3:28Speaker 1: of school and I was living on my home for real,
- 3:31Speaker 1: it was probably a little bit more fast food. So
- 3:36Speaker 1: my fast food go to wasn't McDonald's. I do eat
- 3:39Speaker 1: McDonald's from time to time, but it was El Boil
- 3:41Speaker 1: Loco and she was I would live off these BRC burritos.
- 3:47Speaker 1: There are dollars. I would live the mean and they
- 3:52Speaker 1: used to have They don't have them anymore. That's why
- 3:54Speaker 1: I don't eat Eloil Local anymore. They don't have the
- 3:57Speaker 1: barbecue black beans they used to have, which were like crack.
- 4:01Speaker 1: You would get this BRC with barbecue black beads, throw
- 4:04Speaker 1: your sausa and cilantro in there for a dollar. I
- 4:09Speaker 1: got a whole burrito. I missed out because I didn't
- 4:12Speaker 1: know it was they were living that good at Elpot Local.
- 4:16Speaker 1: I was still like getting the burgers and just adding
- 4:18Speaker 1: sauces to the to the regular double cheeseburger that didn't
- 4:21Speaker 1: come with it, Like yo, can I get extra pickles
- 4:23Speaker 1: and big max sauce and maybe whatever was only ten cents?
- 4:28Speaker 1: Maybe extra your that you could do it your way
- 4:33Speaker 1: and they didn't charge you extra. No, I would just
- 4:35Speaker 1: get all of it and still take stuff off. Let
- 4:37Speaker 1: me get to let this on instrumatos, all that stuff
- 4:39Speaker 1: just my burger look crazy, and then be like I
- 4:41Speaker 1: don't even want that. So you can see the different
- 4:43Speaker 1: worman as is in ours right away looks Brian looks beautiful,
- 4:48Speaker 1: So I literally copied Brian so like I didn't look
- 4:52Speaker 1: like I'm going to put them directly on the rack. Okay,
- 4:57Speaker 1: when did you guys realize that you arrived? Like when
- 5:00Speaker 1: was that moment where you realized, Okay, I'm no longer
- 5:04Speaker 1: living like this. Today we're gonna eat I guess lobster
- 5:07Speaker 1: or whatever your favorite expensive meal would be. M M.
- 5:13Speaker 1: I guess in that sense, like when would I have
- 5:17Speaker 1: felt like that was? I mean, because you have those
- 5:22Speaker 1: small moments that you think you made it, because there's
- 5:25Speaker 1: always you think you made it, like this is it,
- 5:28Speaker 1: and then something might not have been all the way there.
- 5:31Speaker 1: It just wasn't that time. And then timing, you know
- 5:33Speaker 1: what I'm saying, I switched it up. I guess when
- 5:35Speaker 1: I felt like there was no maybe turning back or
- 5:41Speaker 1: the you know what I'm saying, face was high, that
- 5:43Speaker 1: everything was moving in the right direction. Would probably be
- 5:45Speaker 1: like my first tour because I got to actually see
- 5:50Speaker 1: the money ahead. So like working in the meeting, what
- 5:53Speaker 1: I'm saying, sometimes you're just working, you know what I'm saying.
- 5:56Speaker 1: It was points where I was doing. I was probably
- 5:58Speaker 1: on my third mixtape, and I wasn't like I was
- 6:02Speaker 1: a celebrity system and you know what I'm saying, was
- 6:05Speaker 1: occasionally booking a show We're here every couple of months
- 6:08Speaker 1: or something like that for something small, just to get
- 6:11Speaker 1: the show off and do it for Brandon. But I
- 6:14Speaker 1: probably had you know, like three mixtapes in where people
- 6:16Speaker 1: probably thought I made it. Now, I was still at
- 6:18Speaker 1: the crib broke section a e B T, living with moms,
- 6:21Speaker 1: doing the same thing as everybody else, see what I'm saying,
- 6:23Speaker 1: not really living any different, but I still had to
- 6:26Speaker 1: keep up a energy and image and lifestyle, so I
- 6:30Speaker 1: had to you know what I'm saying. Luckily at that
- 6:31Speaker 1: time too, I was getting a lot of I was
- 6:33Speaker 1: making just you know what I'm saying. Connection with a
- 6:35Speaker 1: lot of different people was helping sponsor because I wasn't
- 6:37Speaker 1: out being able to go shopping and have stuff for
- 6:39Speaker 1: music videos and stuff, so it would be people giving
- 6:42Speaker 1: me clothes, and like, you know what I'm saying, the
- 6:44Speaker 1: shout out back in the day was like young and
- 6:45Speaker 1: reckless and villains and all these different people that I
- 6:48Speaker 1: just knew at the time who were making clothes giving
- 6:50Speaker 1: me all these brand new things to where I was
- 6:52Speaker 1: keeping up, but at the same time I didn't really
- 6:55Speaker 1: have I was still going to the crib, you know
- 6:57Speaker 1: what I'm saying, with a couple of dollars in my pocket,
- 7:00Speaker 1: so you know what I'm saying. Those are somethings when
- 7:01Speaker 1: everybody else thought I made it, and I could have
- 7:03Speaker 1: felt like I made it in a sense of like
- 7:07Speaker 1: in the game musically and branding myself and getting somewhere.
- 7:10Speaker 1: But when I saw that first tour and it was
- 7:12Speaker 1: like two months and I get how much your show
- 7:17Speaker 1: is this? Man? I'm sure you ready? So I get
- 7:19Speaker 1: to just live every day? What do they call it?
- 7:24Speaker 1: What do they call that daily allowance? Right right? Were
- 7:29Speaker 1: you thinking like I'm gonna save this per dam and
- 7:31Speaker 1: the check? At that point it was like, you know
- 7:34Speaker 1: then I was living more so living day by day
- 7:36Speaker 1: where it was like, yeah, whatever I got today, it
- 7:39Speaker 1: could go to zero because I gotta show tomorrow. That
- 7:41Speaker 1: was a moment of feeling like you know what I'm saying,
- 7:43Speaker 1: not having that care and feeling like I made it
- 7:45Speaker 1: because it was like we had no responsibilities to I mean,
- 7:49Speaker 1: we went from going we went from me completely broken
- 7:52Speaker 1: and having nothing to look after all this money is
- 7:56Speaker 1: pouring in. Do you feel like when you first got
- 7:59Speaker 1: the money, where are you guys? Let's go shopping by
- 8:01Speaker 1: the nice car? Really? But I don't think it was you. Yeah,
- 8:09Speaker 1: I think it comes as like the beach in the beginning.
- 8:14Speaker 1: They knew my name at Sacks. Yes, but I didn't
- 8:16Speaker 1: like to run into the story and like not first
- 8:20Speaker 1: check the price tag, like if that makes sense. So
- 8:22Speaker 1: I wasn't in there like Louis don't care how much
- 8:25Speaker 1: it costs. I was still making a decision like this
- 8:28Speaker 1: one's five. You still do that? But that that wasn't
- 8:33Speaker 1: like I didn't change in the sense where I was
- 8:35Speaker 1: just like blow it, but gradually was still we would
- 8:39Speaker 1: blow it in other senses of like what do you
- 8:42Speaker 1: want to do? Whatever you want to do. As you're
- 8:45Speaker 1: in it, you're not conscious to it can slow down maybe,
- 8:50Speaker 1: so then when it slows down, then you have to
- 8:52Speaker 1: sit back and go all right, so this is about
- 8:55Speaker 1: to come in. How can we make sure that we
- 8:58Speaker 1: don't have to wait until that comes next time? Oh? Yeah,
- 9:01Speaker 1: you get to like manage a cash fall better because
- 9:04Speaker 1: you could see it ahead of time. You spend looking.
- 9:08Speaker 1: It's just natural to spend the money that's on the
- 9:12Speaker 1: way ready mentally because you see it's on the way,
- 9:14Speaker 1: especially if you didn't have it before, you're like, I
- 9:17Speaker 1: worked this hard, might as well. Yeah, I still you know,
- 9:20Speaker 1: it's crazy. I never people always saying that I never
- 9:23Speaker 1: treated myself to something that I worked so hard, Like
- 9:26Speaker 1: if that makes sense, like you never just gone and
- 9:31Speaker 1: did that that you want to do because you felt
- 9:33Speaker 1: like because in the first three or four years, I
- 9:35Speaker 1: think I just worked world word work. There wasn't a
- 9:38Speaker 1: moment where somebody was like, did you should sit down
- 9:40Speaker 1: and enjoy it? I didn't. I don't think the first
- 9:43Speaker 1: three years I actually enjoyed having everything. It was still
- 9:48Speaker 1: like all right, we still got to go get some
- 9:49Speaker 1: more keep. Yeah, it's more worker, It's good. Yeah. One
- 9:56Speaker 1: of the biggest challenges I think is momentum. You know,
- 10:02Speaker 1: like you try to go into it without having false
- 10:05Speaker 1: expectations and then you catch momentum, you know, for like
- 10:10Speaker 1: the met spot, for say Smooth Skin Lounge and um,
- 10:14Speaker 1: just trying to keep that momentum going because it's still
- 10:17Speaker 1: a new business. So you see so much money flowing in,
- 10:21Speaker 1: but you have employees you have overhead, you have rent,
- 10:26Speaker 1: you just have all these things. So, you know, just
- 10:28Speaker 1: trying to keep pushing towards it being big enough to
- 10:32Speaker 1: where you can really feel like, Okay, I did make it,
- 10:35Speaker 1: and you don't think when you think about artists, you
- 10:37Speaker 1: don't really think. And the more I interview people or
- 10:41Speaker 1: the more entertainers I meet. At first, when I used
- 10:45Speaker 1: to look at entertainers, you just think of them as
- 10:47Speaker 1: this is the face. You don't realize that they're entrepreneurs
- 10:50Speaker 1: and they're they're making all these decisions on a daily basis.
- 10:54Speaker 1: It's not just writing a song or producing a record.
- 10:57Speaker 1: It's emails look crazy, So times I have to have
- 11:02Speaker 1: moments and have someone and also it's like a business
- 11:05Speaker 1: partner that I trust and my wife luckily, so it's
- 11:07Speaker 1: like I have two business partners because I can trust
- 11:10Speaker 1: that she'll understand, you know, what I'm saying certain things
- 11:12Speaker 1: when I'm locked in on the music. Just because even
- 11:15Speaker 1: just recently, you know, wrapping up this album Alive, I
- 11:19Speaker 1: was locked into the studio and it was so many
- 11:22Speaker 1: other music business and things that I was getting emails
- 11:25Speaker 1: for that my business partner, which I trust him to
- 11:29Speaker 1: make certain decisions. But if it's like might lean a
- 11:31Speaker 1: little bit more towards a little some branding or something
- 11:34Speaker 1: personal that I might be like, YEO, why did you
- 11:35Speaker 1: do that? I felt like that was corny. This is
- 11:37Speaker 1: then that he reached out to my wife and I
- 11:39Speaker 1: could I can trust her to get that done because
- 11:41Speaker 1: you have to. I can't think about that and do
- 11:45Speaker 1: the creative music part and think that I'm going to
- 11:48Speaker 1: give this a hundred percent and not look back on
- 11:51Speaker 1: it later and be like, dang, I missed that, or
- 11:53Speaker 1: I wanted to take that out. I should have turned
- 11:55Speaker 1: that down because I was trying to do that fast
- 11:58Speaker 1: so I could answer this question, or just my mind
- 12:01Speaker 1: wasn't So, you guys, it's definitely a you have to
- 12:04Speaker 1: be a businessman. But you see it the music all
- 12:06Speaker 1: the time. When people start getting real big at the business,
- 12:09Speaker 1: then the music starts falling back a little bit once
- 12:12Speaker 1: you get a little bit two hands on. I mean
- 12:14Speaker 1: we can't get we can't get an album out of Rihanna.
- 12:16Speaker 1: I mean you're seeing and you start making big money
- 12:20Speaker 1: other places. That's the exactly she's giving like, once you
- 12:22Speaker 1: start doing this and it's like she's not made a
- 12:25Speaker 1: quarter billion dollars and I didn't have to stress out.
- 12:29Speaker 1: I'm busy this, Yeah, I don't, I don't. I don't
- 12:32Speaker 1: think she's going to go back to uh she eventually
- 12:35Speaker 1: she will. She's busy. I mean you can't. Yeah, you
- 12:39Speaker 1: can't get mad at it. But you can see how
- 12:41Speaker 1: you know some people, and you see how some people
- 12:44Speaker 1: are you know, can sell millions and millions of records,
- 12:47Speaker 1: go diamond and do all these things, but can't handle
- 12:49Speaker 1: the business or can't come out with a clothing line.
- 12:51Speaker 1: I can't because they don't have that. They're not everyone's not,
- 12:55Speaker 1: for real, some people can do it. For this, it's
- 13:01Speaker 1: just different everyone. I wish everyone could run like that
- 13:03Speaker 1: because it's hard to keep up with all these different
- 13:06Speaker 1: things and you just got to find your flowing your balance.
- 13:11Speaker 1: Now I'm curious, and this is going to go to
- 13:14Speaker 1: both of you guys. So Asia, you're, you know, entrepreneur
- 13:19Speaker 1: behind the scenes mainly correct and then Brian or kidding,
- 13:24Speaker 1: you're in front of the scenes. So do you feel
- 13:29Speaker 1: like one has it easier than the other, because and
- 13:33Speaker 1: this is a serious question, and this is just playing
- 13:36Speaker 1: devil's advocate, not trying to start a fight. Out a topic.
- 13:41Speaker 1: I think. I don't think that one is necessarily easier
- 13:50Speaker 1: than the other because because I see some of the
- 13:53Speaker 1: stuff that you know, they're just here the conversations, some
- 13:57Speaker 1: stuff they have to go through. Even with today too,
- 13:59Speaker 1: with how big social media is and how important it
- 14:03Speaker 1: is to your brand, smooth Skins Instagram pages just as
- 14:08Speaker 1: important as my Instagram page as far as keeping it up,
- 14:12Speaker 1: making sure that the brand is still just as the
- 14:14Speaker 1: followers and the video content. Like I see her doing
- 14:18Speaker 1: just as much video content for her their Instagram as
- 14:21Speaker 1: it is for mine, and I'd be like Danny to
- 14:23Speaker 1: catch up. He has to teach me how to make
- 14:24Speaker 1: my little video. It's I feel like it's definitely nowadays,
- 14:28Speaker 1: it's still more of a it's still more of a
- 14:30Speaker 1: trade where you still gotta be a cool business just
- 14:33Speaker 1: as much as you gotta be a cool entertainer. It
- 14:36Speaker 1: feels more like you guys, iron sharpens iron. There's a
- 14:39Speaker 1: little bit of friendly like competitiveness, but not really because
- 14:44Speaker 1: you guys share your insider secrets, right, You're like, well,
- 14:47Speaker 1: I got this this post and this this is what
- 14:49Speaker 1: I did too, So it's almost like on the tech side,
- 14:52Speaker 1: you know, techie's kind of share their codes and then
- 14:54Speaker 1: they build up. Who do you think has cried the
- 14:59Speaker 1: most on the business side, Who do you think have
- 15:04Speaker 1: you actually teared up from business? Business is stressful tears, Yeah,
- 15:11Speaker 1: when I was first coming up in the game, because
- 15:13Speaker 1: you feel like it's not even tears, you know, sadness,
- 15:17Speaker 1: it's tears of like real stress and anger, like you
- 15:21Speaker 1: know why this ain't working and why that's not happening
- 15:23Speaker 1: the way that I wanted it to happen at the time.
- 15:26Speaker 1: It's more so the time you start getting fed up
- 15:28Speaker 1: with time, see, like this isn't doing what I wanted
- 15:30Speaker 1: to do, and I've been putting so much work and
- 15:33Speaker 1: effort into this, and you start getting stressed out, and
- 15:35Speaker 1: then you gotta You know what I'm saying, I thought
- 15:38Speaker 1: about that I'm someone who who can easily, when I
- 15:41Speaker 1: was younger, easily fight and cry out of anger. So
- 15:43Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, it will naturally, I'll naturally
- 15:46Speaker 1: tear up just out of anger. So if I'm in
- 15:48Speaker 1: a fight like when I was younger, don't let the
- 15:51Speaker 1: crypt don't let the tears fool you. Yeah, don't let
- 15:54Speaker 1: the tears fool you. For sure, and I know, I say,
- 15:57Speaker 1: you just took a bite. But the first of all,
- 16:00Speaker 1: this is amazing, So now I will I will be
- 16:07Speaker 1: so good really yourself. Um, I wanted to say, honest, yeah,
- 16:17Speaker 1: when was the last time you cried over your business?
- 16:20Speaker 1: And what was it in detail? Mm hmm um, probably
- 16:25Speaker 1: a week ago. But honestly, I'm just very this is
- 16:31Speaker 1: like my baby, and this is my first business that
- 16:35Speaker 1: is actually like going. I've tried to do other businesses
- 16:39Speaker 1: in the past, um, and they didn't work out, you know,
- 16:43Speaker 1: and a lot of it was just immaturity, you know,
- 16:46Speaker 1: being an experience, and so now it just it gets
- 16:51Speaker 1: frustrating as a mom to the pool, having to pull
- 16:55Speaker 1: away from being with your kids or being here at
- 16:59Speaker 1: your business, you know what I mean. So I grabbed
- 17:02Speaker 1: all the time. I'm always frustrated. And then me and
- 17:04Speaker 1: my partner are like brother and sisters, so we go
- 17:07Speaker 1: at it and we do. I can't tell you guys
- 17:13Speaker 1: how much I appreciate having you both come out and
- 17:17Speaker 1: uh feed us this gourmet dish. I've eaten some pretty
- 17:21Speaker 1: red dishes on this show, but I was really excited
- 17:25Speaker 1: to be able to lay out all these options. Everybody
- 17:29Speaker 1: in production was asking what we are making that has
- 17:33Speaker 1: this many ingredients? Do you feel like you've arrived or
- 17:38Speaker 1: do you feel like that pivotal point hasn't arrived yet?
- 17:42Speaker 1: I feel like there are I feel like I'm always becoming,
- 17:48Speaker 1: first of all, like I'm still becoming. You know, I'm
- 17:51Speaker 1: working on smooth skin and that's going. But we're still beginning.
- 17:55Speaker 1: You know. I still would like to do more branding
- 17:58Speaker 1: with cooking. Um, so it changes, like I think I
- 18:03Speaker 1: had superficial ones in the beginning, like you know, my
- 18:07Speaker 1: first batons he bought me in Paris. You know, like
- 18:12Speaker 1: then you know, you know there's things like you know,
- 18:15Speaker 1: when we bought our first house, or I got to
- 18:18Speaker 1: be featured in Vogue Pregnant, you know, like I've never
- 18:22Speaker 1: let's be clear, I've never signed up with any modeling
- 18:25Speaker 1: agency ever, so that for me, know, anything, any work
- 18:29Speaker 1: I've done modeling or acting, I was doing myself. I
- 18:32Speaker 1: never joined with an agency. So that was still really
- 18:35Speaker 1: big for me to have that moment. Yeah, my mom
- 18:40Speaker 1: Vogue dot com. So that was nice, But you know,
- 18:49Speaker 1: those things still I just feel like that's not it
- 18:52Speaker 1: for me. You know, there's still more to come do
- 18:56Speaker 1: you think that's because the bar is high, or is
- 18:59Speaker 1: it because is playing Devil's advocate? Are you not taking
- 19:03Speaker 1: that moment? And like how Kiddink was saying that he
- 19:09Speaker 1: and I think that's what you were saying, that you
- 19:11Speaker 1: never really got a chance to take it in, but
- 19:12Speaker 1: no one told you to take it in. Keep you
- 19:14Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, pushing the bar because if you
- 19:17Speaker 1: look at smooth skin, it's open, it's out. You can
- 19:20Speaker 1: show like all these huge milestones. But you're like, well,
- 19:24Speaker 1: I still you know, And I get it because I
- 19:26Speaker 1: feel like most entrepreneurs feel that way. But I'm wondering,
- 19:28Speaker 1: like what the root is. Is it because you're not
- 19:31Speaker 1: taking it in in the moment or is it because
- 19:33Speaker 1: you keep moving the needle forward? I think from the
- 19:37Speaker 1: outside looking in to cut off, I think they definitely
- 19:40Speaker 1: in their business. I've had moments where I've seen them
- 19:46Speaker 1: stress out or want to accomplish something, and I've been
- 19:49Speaker 1: and I go, but you guys are killing it right now,
- 19:52Speaker 1: killing it. It's cool. But I don't you know what
- 19:54Speaker 1: I'm saying. It's not a bad I guess you know
- 19:55Speaker 1: what I'm saying. Mindset to be in, but it's definitely
- 19:57Speaker 1: moments where I'd be like you know what, or a
- 20:00Speaker 1: business partner like yo, it's chill out stuff stressing, Like
- 20:05Speaker 1: the numbers can be different from yesterday. Do you see
- 20:08Speaker 1: what they looked like all week? Like what I'm saying,
- 20:10Speaker 1: you and think about like the times we're in you
- 20:14Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, Those type of things that you
- 20:15Speaker 1: have to come into play. But when you want just
- 20:17Speaker 1: to it to be so big or do more, you
- 20:19Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, it's I can't really help that.
- 20:22Speaker 1: I'm striving for generational wealth. I think once you feel
- 20:25Speaker 1: like that's why I have to worry. Yeah, I don't
- 20:29Speaker 1: have to worry. It's one thing kids don't have to worry.
- 20:33Speaker 1: And then I could feel like their kids might not
- 20:34Speaker 1: have to worry. Is I guess more of a mom?
- 20:38Speaker 1: Look what I did. Yeah, you guys are looking for
- 20:41Speaker 1: that sleep money that we don't have to get up
- 20:44Speaker 1: and chase it everyday. Money I don't actually yeah, yeah,
- 20:48Speaker 1: I still work for mine. I don't know. I'm still
- 20:50Speaker 1: working from mine too. I don't know what it is.
- 20:53Speaker 1: You know. Well, No, I'm not gonna say that I'm
- 20:55Speaker 1: not blessed to have certain situations or you know what
- 20:58Speaker 1: I'm saying, the right publishing sit worships where I do
- 21:01Speaker 1: have you know what I'm saying, things that come in
- 21:03Speaker 1: that I go, oh forgot about? You know what I'm saying,
- 21:07Speaker 1: right things doing things for movies, commercials, whatever the case
- 21:10Speaker 1: may be. There are there are things that I have
- 21:13Speaker 1: set in stone that will forever collect money. So I
- 21:16Speaker 1: am definitely blessed and appreciate that for sure. But you know,
- 21:20Speaker 1: and you know I j C no, It's still a
- 21:26Speaker 1: level that I would like to accomplish mentally. So yeah,
- 21:29Speaker 1: my bar might be set super high than most. But
- 21:32Speaker 1: at the same time, you know, I still won't say
- 21:36Speaker 1: that at the end of the day, when it's all over,
- 21:38Speaker 1: that I won't feel like I was successful. But right
- 21:42Speaker 1: now I still have to not be stagnant with that.
- 21:44Speaker 1: I gotta want to push for more or I think
- 21:47Speaker 1: it will just go backwards. How many years total have
- 21:57Speaker 1: you been in the game prior to everybody knowing who
- 22:01Speaker 1: you are? I know you started as a producer, So
- 22:04Speaker 1: I probably started making music for fun when I was fifteen, like,
- 22:10Speaker 1: thinking like I could make music for other people, Like
- 22:12Speaker 1: I think I knew how to make music and play
- 22:14Speaker 1: account was the first time you got paid for the
- 22:19Speaker 1: first time I got paid for music was probably like
- 22:23Speaker 1: a I think it was like a reproduction for uh,
- 22:30Speaker 1: it was a reproduction for Alice Cooper record that Sean
- 22:37Speaker 1: Kingston was redoing for some promo. Like it wasn't like
- 22:40Speaker 1: a single or anything, but it was like something that
- 22:43Speaker 1: I think was special for Alice Cooper anniversary and he
- 22:48Speaker 1: was redoing this song Cameron with the name of the
- 22:50Speaker 1: song was I was mad young and then you know
- 22:53Speaker 1: probably pay me, like but how did you get it?
- 22:59Speaker 1: Just how did I get it? I think it was
- 23:01Speaker 1: more so you know, still when I was sixteen, I
- 23:05Speaker 1: was always moving around seeing who the you know what
- 23:10Speaker 1: I'm saying, who the new rappers were, always moving my
- 23:12Speaker 1: beasts around, always staying just I think in the mix.
- 23:16Speaker 1: And it's not it's not that it's not hard, but
- 23:19Speaker 1: you know, in l a can know where to be
- 23:21Speaker 1: at the right time, or know how to meet certain
- 23:23Speaker 1: people or be like yo, listen to this and this
- 23:25Speaker 1: and that, or you might have a relative that's like, yo,
- 23:27Speaker 1: here's an opportunity. So I think it was just I
- 23:29Speaker 1: can't remember how the opportunity came, but it was just
- 23:32Speaker 1: somebody said, hey, you got one of these, and they
- 23:34Speaker 1: you know, knew they could get it for me for cheap,
- 23:36Speaker 1: so they were like, I might have to pay this
- 23:38Speaker 1: guy five thousand. I can pay this guy four dollars
- 23:40Speaker 1: or if that was leaping what I got. And he's
- 23:43Speaker 1: cool with that. So you know what I'm saying, They
- 23:45Speaker 1: got that done and I can't remember who the business
- 23:48Speaker 1: was with it. But then after that, you know, that
- 23:50Speaker 1: opens up the doors. So then I meet different people
- 23:53Speaker 1: or you know, at the time, because that's us. My
- 23:57Speaker 1: mom made it moments. That was my mom made a
- 23:59Speaker 1: moment for sure, and then go back to the to
- 24:02Speaker 1: the hood, and then it's like, all right, we're back
- 24:03Speaker 1: to regular. And then I get the record that I
- 24:06Speaker 1: made for Nipsey Bullets. Ain't got no names. And then
- 24:09Speaker 1: that you know, he gets the deal off that that
- 24:11Speaker 1: blows up another Mama made a moment, made my first
- 24:14Speaker 1: check for five thousand dollars. Again, it took three months,
- 24:19Speaker 1: but you can't do nothing about that. So imagine, you know,
- 24:22Speaker 1: all right, and that's not anyone from his team's problem.
- 24:25Speaker 1: That's the labels, you know what I'm saying, Like I said,
- 24:27Speaker 1: labels work, So he was with Sony, I think at
- 24:29Speaker 1: the time, and they're not like thinking about me, like, yeah,
- 24:34Speaker 1: we gotta make sure we get him the bag I
- 24:37Speaker 1: think I had already. They flew me out to New York.
- 24:39Speaker 1: I hung out, I was making all kind of bees,
- 24:41Speaker 1: doing this and this and that, and then they got
- 24:42Speaker 1: to a point where I was in New York like, yo, man,
- 24:45Speaker 1: you get paid because I'm running out of money. So
- 24:47Speaker 1: you know, my mom only gave me like two dollars
- 24:49Speaker 1: for like two weeks trying to figure out what we're
- 24:51Speaker 1: doing here. And then I ended up from that moment
- 24:55Speaker 1: leaving New York, going back home and back to regular
- 24:58Speaker 1: lifestyle again. So then like that was another almost made
- 25:01Speaker 1: a moment, and then you know what I'm saying, but
- 25:03Speaker 1: that opened up the doors for me, you know what
- 25:06Speaker 1: I'm saying, going to the studio with Nipsey and then
- 25:08Speaker 1: meeting young Bird Hitmaker now and then you know that
- 25:12Speaker 1: opened the doors for me me dj ill Will, which
- 25:15Speaker 1: opened the doors for me dropping my first mixtape, which
- 25:18Speaker 1: then trickled down to where we are now. So I think,
- 25:22Speaker 1: you know, it's different moments where I was like I
- 25:24Speaker 1: made it and then it turned around. But then I
- 25:26Speaker 1: see how that turned into something else, always becoming. So, now,
- 25:31Speaker 1: was there ever a point where you felt like you
- 25:33Speaker 1: had to choose between the nine five? Now? I know
- 25:34Speaker 1: your mom, so I know she's all about, you know,
- 25:38Speaker 1: fight for your dreams and go after what you want.
- 25:40Speaker 1: I don't think she has a settlement plan ever for
- 25:42Speaker 1: any of you guys. But was there ever a moment
- 25:45Speaker 1: where you thought prior to the four hundred, because I'm
- 25:48Speaker 1: sure that was like, That's what I'm doing forever, right?
- 25:51Speaker 1: So yeah, So I think my my first like real
- 25:55Speaker 1: job that I went out and got was retail. It
- 26:00Speaker 1: was easy to go to the mall, to a bunch
- 26:02Speaker 1: of applications to who hired you. I worked at the
- 26:04Speaker 1: Gap and then I I always knew I wanted to
- 26:09Speaker 1: do music, so I always had this mindset like, all right,
- 26:11Speaker 1: when you work in nine five, though, make sure it's
- 26:13Speaker 1: something that's not going to hurt your future. You know
- 26:16Speaker 1: what I'm saying. When they bring it back up and
- 26:18Speaker 1: they're like, yo, why were you doing that though? So
- 26:21Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, Retail with something I was
- 26:22Speaker 1: always in a fashion. I got the easy job at
- 26:24Speaker 1: the Gap. It wasn't really my vibe as far as
- 26:28Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, just the work that they
- 26:31Speaker 1: had us doing, I felt, you know, just like I
- 26:33Speaker 1: was just folting T shirts all day and wasn't really
- 26:35Speaker 1: selling any clothes or any clothes that I was into.
- 26:38Speaker 1: So then I moved from there and got a job
- 26:40Speaker 1: in Northroom because I knew some smarty who worked in
- 26:42Speaker 1: North rooms. They hooked me up. And this is all
- 26:43Speaker 1: prior to your passion for music. Yeah, well know, I
- 26:46Speaker 1: always made music. So it was like when I was fifteen,
- 26:49Speaker 1: before I had a job, I always made music. I
- 26:51Speaker 1: think my mom, like every not like every boy. The
- 26:54Speaker 1: normal l A kid thing from the too is you're
- 26:57Speaker 1: gonna do some extra work and do some acting, so
- 26:59Speaker 1: you know, just throw me in to the acting. We
- 27:00Speaker 1: get an Asian, they have you do a couple of
- 27:02Speaker 1: things here, and you know, and then whatever and then
- 27:05Speaker 1: some people making some people don't, I guess, But for me, uh,
- 27:08Speaker 1: you know, I did the acting thing for a minute,
- 27:10Speaker 1: but then I start getting tattoos when I was sixteen,
- 27:13Speaker 1: and then that kind of took away from me trying
- 27:16Speaker 1: to be able to do any Disney any vibes that
- 27:20Speaker 1: was gonna be like your music has played in Disney movies,
- 27:24Speaker 1: and you know, I see how there were certain things
- 27:27Speaker 1: that not for sure I have I don't know something
- 27:31Speaker 1: kids movies, kids Disney single yet there, but I think,
- 27:38Speaker 1: you know, the there's certain things that I started to
- 27:43Speaker 1: realize came from me just doing what I loved and
- 27:46Speaker 1: what I had a passion for, and other stuff was
- 27:48Speaker 1: just start to come just from being good at you
- 27:51Speaker 1: know what I'm saying this, and then they might open
- 27:53Speaker 1: up doors for other opportunities for me to get into that.
- 27:56Speaker 1: I've always wanted to go to X games my old life.
- 28:00Speaker 1: I got to perform at X games. I always wanted
- 28:03Speaker 1: to go. I always wanted to go to a wrestling match.
- 28:06Speaker 1: My first wrestling match. I got to perform at WrestleMania.
- 28:10Speaker 1: Like these are things that I probably never thought I
- 28:12Speaker 1: was ever going to be able to do unless I
- 28:14Speaker 1: did certain things or met certain people, or I didn't
- 28:16Speaker 1: think like raps gonna get me in WrestleMania. But if
- 28:19Speaker 1: if I was younger, I probably would have been even
- 28:21Speaker 1: more into it, like what raps can give me WrestleMania?
- 28:22Speaker 1: But I didn't. I didn't know. But when I saw
- 28:25Speaker 1: how it all worked out, I was like, Yo, that
- 28:27Speaker 1: was pretty cool, Like that was something that happened right,
- 28:31Speaker 1: Like it was definitely manifested, and it was something that
- 28:35Speaker 1: again I just didn't I wanted to do, but didn't
- 28:37Speaker 1: know that that was going to bring me to getting
- 28:39Speaker 1: to that place. So you know, and I have a
- 28:42Speaker 1: WrestleMania chair in my house that I didn't have to
- 28:44Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, hustle for on eBay the
- 28:48Speaker 1: examply Now before we close out, I'm just curious, since
- 28:52Speaker 1: we are on the topic and manifesting came out, what
- 28:55Speaker 1: do you think are like three secrets to success? Um
- 29:00Speaker 1: going from being broke in your living room around naysayers
- 29:04Speaker 1: or or or whomever to where you are at now?
- 29:09Speaker 1: What what's consistent the most in your everyday life? Would
- 29:12Speaker 1: you say? And towards the goal of success, there's not
- 29:15Speaker 1: a ceiling you have, Like everyone puts some type of
- 29:20Speaker 1: expectation of when they need to feel successful by or
- 29:26Speaker 1: how much money they have to be to be successful.
- 29:28Speaker 1: There's no ceiling. Once you accomplish one, you're going to
- 29:31Speaker 1: go onto the next, or if this one fails, you're
- 29:34Speaker 1: going to go on to the next. There's no ceiling.
- 29:37Speaker 1: Keep going, keep doing it, even with musicians. Maybe you
- 29:40Speaker 1: won't be the next rapper, but there are musicians making
- 29:44Speaker 1: a living off of music in hundreds of different fields.
- 29:48Speaker 1: You know, Like yeah, that I and I think that
- 29:52Speaker 1: the thing that you realize most of course, like speaking
- 29:55Speaker 1: things into existence, speaking things out of existence. It's important. Mean,
- 30:00Speaker 1: some people can you know, you're definitely always supposed to
- 30:05Speaker 1: have those moments where you can vent and get things out,
- 30:09Speaker 1: but you always gotta have that confidence there. And I
- 30:12Speaker 1: think you know that confidence is what you see a
- 30:15Speaker 1: lot of people strive from where you go, how did
- 30:17Speaker 1: that person do that with no talent because they walked
- 30:20Speaker 1: in the building. Like when they say, when you're walk
- 30:22Speaker 1: in the build, no one's gonna ask you where if
- 30:24Speaker 1: you're supposed to be there. If you got the right confidence,
- 30:27Speaker 1: I'm going to steal that. You gotta be that when
- 30:31Speaker 1: you walk in the building and be exactly you know
- 30:33Speaker 1: what I'm saying, what it is, and not have any
- 30:36Speaker 1: I guess you know, insecurities on that behalf and people
- 30:39Speaker 1: look at you the exact same where you know, even
- 30:41Speaker 1: with smith skin, when i feel like I'm going to
- 30:45Speaker 1: like pull my hair out literally and just run away
- 30:49Speaker 1: from it all, I get dressed up really nice. When
- 30:52Speaker 1: I go on the office the next day. You know,
- 30:54Speaker 1: it just makes me feel clothing. It makes me feel like,
- 31:00Speaker 1: I ca baby, I'm here. I could be at home
- 31:03Speaker 1: in the home studio, and I can tell that if
- 31:07Speaker 1: I was at home, locked in and sweats for a week,
- 31:11Speaker 1: that just that one Friday, even if I wasn't going awhere,
- 31:14Speaker 1: that I got mad, dressed up through all my chains
- 31:16Speaker 1: on and went to the backyard to the studio. The
- 31:18Speaker 1: energy is going to be different. It's gonna be a
- 31:21Speaker 1: little bit more of feeling myself when I'm in there
- 31:23Speaker 1: instead of just working. I think it's a little rap
- 31:28Speaker 1: and more of it's more of an energy. Or you
- 31:31Speaker 1: look at it's like, look what I got, Look where
- 31:34Speaker 1: It makes sense. I never even thought of that, yea,
- 31:38Speaker 1: to be honest, but it does make sense. Like, you know,
- 31:40Speaker 1: when you look good, you feel good, and your confidence
- 31:43Speaker 1: is that you feel like, hey, I guess I learned
- 31:45Speaker 1: that the hard way, and she already had it on point.
- 31:48Speaker 1: When you're in the gym. I didn't used to care
- 31:50Speaker 1: about what I was wearing in the gym. I would
- 31:52Speaker 1: just go to the gym. But once I started getting
- 31:55Speaker 1: matched up, like I was like, are you matching shoes too?
- 31:58Speaker 1: And then I would get messed up. I could understand,
- 32:00Speaker 1: like I look in the mirror, like we're gonna work
- 32:02Speaker 1: out today, Yeah, we work Looking at the shoes is blue.
- 32:05Speaker 1: They're gonna see me running And it's a whole different
- 32:08Speaker 1: mentality than if you're just going there in the mid
- 32:10Speaker 1: feast joint you like, I'm working on my wife beater today,
- 32:14Speaker 1: and that is what it is. Well, thank you guys
- 32:17Speaker 1: so much for coming out, especially on your birthday. So
- 32:21Speaker 1: today we're gonna close out. I got you a couple
- 32:24Speaker 1: of different cake options so we can all gain weight,
- 32:27Speaker 1: so you guys can compete in the work original. I
- 32:32Speaker 1: don't know if it's vanilla in there, best vanilla chocolate hair. Yeah, yo, man,
- 32:39Speaker 1: appreciate you guys for chilling with us. You know what
- 32:42Speaker 1: it is eating while broke. Yeah, this amazing piece of toast.
- 32:45Speaker 1: And I hope y'all learned something new today. Yes, with
- 32:47Speaker 1: kidding and Assia, we had awesome pizza toast today. Thank
