- 5:05Speaker 1: a battye, studying for the Graham and everything else that
- 5:08Speaker 1: she's up to. Crisol, Welcome to look at Thought our radio.
- 5:11Speaker 1: Can you please say hello to our listeners? Hello, Hello,
- 5:15Speaker 1: thank you for having me locomotives. I am a long
- 5:18Speaker 1: time how's a singular? I feel like I'm part of
- 5:23Speaker 1: the collective. Um. Yes, I'm a I'm a fan and friend,
- 5:27Speaker 1: friend and fan, truly local more in Italy only that's
- 5:33Speaker 1: when that applied. Well, I love that, and you go
- 5:39Speaker 1: to Italy. We all do. I think that we've all
- 5:42Speaker 1: been having some like Lizzie McGuire Italian like romance nostalgia.
- 5:48Speaker 1: It's been all over the timeline. I mean, just funny
- 5:51Speaker 1: that it should come up. The algorithm has been working
- 5:53Speaker 1: over time with the with the two thousands nostalgia. Honestly,
- 5:57Speaker 1: I feel true the I don't know if it's a
- 6:00Speaker 1: pandemic hangover for the now that that's really like like
- 6:03Speaker 1: catapulted that. But like the way I crave many of
- 6:07Speaker 1: the early two thousands, specifically Disney Channel movies the way
- 6:11Speaker 1: I need them back into my life and I've worked
- 6:13Speaker 1: them back into rotations or just like pivotal life changing movies.
- 6:17Speaker 1: Be also, I have noticing on your I D like
- 6:20Speaker 1: like the stuff that like what was your what was
- 6:23Speaker 1: your bisexual awakening? You know, and like those films that
- 6:25Speaker 1: I'm just like, yeah, like all the same ones, and
- 6:27Speaker 1: I'm just like, yes, I love it. There's so many honestly,
- 6:31Speaker 1: and like you realize it later, like as an adult,
- 6:34Speaker 1: you don't like maybe recognize it. You see there's like
- 6:37Speaker 1: this like inkling. There's this like curiosity when you're a
- 6:39Speaker 1: kid because you're still a kid or you're a teenager.
- 6:42Speaker 1: But then when you can like process it later as
- 6:44Speaker 1: an adult, like wait a damn minute, I was attracted
- 6:47Speaker 1: to this character. It wasn't just that I would like
- 6:50Speaker 1: love this character. There was like, oh I saw myself
- 6:53Speaker 1: and this character right all of that. Yes, I'm like
- 6:57Speaker 1: both like living for the early two thousands like coming
- 7:00Speaker 1: back and also hating it. I'm like in that weird
- 7:03Speaker 1: like please leave the fashion there. But yes, bring back
- 7:06Speaker 1: the pulp culture movies, the stars, give me all of it,
- 7:10Speaker 1: give me benefit, give me that yes, like I like
- 7:14Speaker 1: yes to the Manny Santos song. No to Gaucho pants, No,
- 7:18Speaker 1: thank you forever to Gauchos. I I felt for them.
- 7:20Speaker 1: I was into them. I I did it, and and
- 7:22Speaker 1: the layered the V neck with the tank top underneath
- 7:26Speaker 1: also did it. I'm sorry, I don't know. This is
- 7:29Speaker 1: my public apology, um, but yeah that uh thinking back,
- 7:34Speaker 1: like I guess, like retroactively, like no pun intended there,
- 7:38Speaker 1: but retroactively, like really reviewing all of these moments that
- 7:42Speaker 1: I that I witnessed like in movies and TV and
- 7:44Speaker 1: now being an adult and being like, oh my god,
- 7:46Speaker 1: like there was something going on in my brain and
- 7:48Speaker 1: now I'm smart enough to process it and looky, I
- 7:51Speaker 1: kind of want to give myself Like I don't know
- 7:52Speaker 1: if you guys get this way where you'll remember something
- 7:54Speaker 1: and the way you your brain was dancing around it,
- 7:57Speaker 1: and now being an adult, you're almost like a little
- 7:59Speaker 1: proud of like, man, I wish I could like high
- 8:01Speaker 1: five little Cristal because she was really onto something and
- 8:04Speaker 1: at the time she didn't know how to voice it,
- 8:05Speaker 1: and maybe, you know, maybe she could have been like
- 8:08Speaker 1: the next Greta on the stage talking about like the
- 8:10Speaker 1: significance of coyote ugly and yes for the bisexuals of
- 8:17Speaker 1: our generation. You know, Um, you know what did America's
- 8:22Speaker 1: next top models? Due to my development and you know,
- 8:26Speaker 1: being able to process judgment like I I uh, it's
- 8:30Speaker 1: it was, It's significant. Sorry, hello, Hi, I'm a sagittarius,
- 8:33Speaker 1: so I'm like about many things today. There we it's
- 8:39Speaker 1: like hard to even figure out where to begin, because
- 8:42Speaker 1: we could start with speaking of retroactive. You have new
- 8:46Speaker 1: music coming out, we could start there. We can start
- 8:48Speaker 1: with like how we met and how we got to
- 8:51Speaker 1: this point. I mean there's so many entry ways. Um,
- 8:56Speaker 1: let's start with how we met. I feel like that's good.
- 8:58Speaker 1: I think a fun place to start because it's one
- 9:00Speaker 1: of my favorite stories. Yes, and I'll let you tell it. Yes,
- 9:05Speaker 1: Diosa was there. We were together and it was all Grito.
- 9:11Speaker 1: I forget the year. It was several years ago now, yes,
- 9:19Speaker 1: for there we were just two faces in the crowd,
- 9:23Speaker 1: two indie podcasters in a sea of gritones for al Grito. Right,
- 9:29Speaker 1: So we're there and on the steps of city Hall,
- 9:34Speaker 1: I see a vision in black leather pants and I said, Yosa,
- 9:39Speaker 1: who the fuck is that queen? She sings, she dances,
- 9:45Speaker 1: she serves face. Who is she? Tell them? Did I not?
- 9:50Speaker 1: Was I not? Just like overwhelmed by Cristol's talent. Mala
- 9:56Speaker 1: was so overwhelmed that I had been put onto you
- 10:00Speaker 1: because a friend of mine had booked you for like
- 10:03Speaker 1: a community event. And so my friend says Sad, was like,
- 10:06Speaker 1: you need to check her, and so I started following you.
- 10:11Speaker 1: And so then when we saw you at Agrito, I
- 10:13Speaker 1: was like, Mama, I know who this is. I don't
- 10:15Speaker 1: know her, know her, but yes, like you need to
- 10:17Speaker 1: go follow her. And I dot like, I don't know
- 10:20Speaker 1: everything about you sold you to us, but especially the
- 10:24Speaker 1: way you you mixed. I think it was a lemonade
- 10:28Speaker 1: song like from Fyancee album. You mixed it with Selena.
- 10:33Speaker 1: We were like mind blown. We were losing it. We
- 10:37Speaker 1: were screaming, we were dancing, we were crying, we were drinking.
- 10:40Speaker 1: It was amazing. We made that medley for the batties
- 10:47Speaker 1: and it rarely goes fully acknowledged. So I'm happy that
- 10:51Speaker 1: after all these years. I'm happy that that really stuck
- 10:54Speaker 1: with you because to Queens from Houston hold up is
- 10:59Speaker 1: in the same in same cord relatively chord progression as
- 11:03Speaker 1: bbbb bom bum. So we just do this little breakdown
- 11:05Speaker 1: and that like you have to. I'll try to record it,
- 11:07Speaker 1: and the samas is back right now, so maybe we'll
- 11:09Speaker 1: do some actually film my performances. But yeah, okay, guess
- 11:13Speaker 1: I'm really happy you guys remember that. Um yeah, that's well,
- 11:17Speaker 1: that's what a lovely memory. Yeah, So from my end,
- 11:20Speaker 1: I mean, I just remember, they'll be pure madness because
- 11:24Speaker 1: you know, of course this dukan is right and like
- 11:26Speaker 1: this like God bless the city of l A. But
- 11:29Speaker 1: they did not prepare to have I don't think they
- 11:31Speaker 1: anticipated thukana Is to have such a high level or
- 11:33Speaker 1: an elite um set up, which I'm just like, well,
- 11:36Speaker 1: how embarrassing for you guys to not know that, And
- 11:41Speaker 1: because the city and I will, I will because that
- 11:45Speaker 1: day I was sick, I was not feeling well. I
- 11:47Speaker 1: was running around screaming um. Our set got cut by
- 11:50Speaker 1: like twenty minutes because they let everybody else run over
- 11:53Speaker 1: and Bukanas were like, I don't care, We're going on
- 11:56Speaker 1: at what time we're going on. But more the thing
- 11:58Speaker 1: that kills me is that, like I've always been the
- 11:59Speaker 1: type a musician to show up on time and it's rare,
- 12:03Speaker 1: like it's it's really not like the thing that it's
- 12:05Speaker 1: a lot um. And so we showed up on time,
- 12:08Speaker 1: but dugans, we're running late and mom, but I'm like
- 12:10Speaker 1: they've earned it. But of course when the time they
- 12:12Speaker 1: showed up, they're like, we have our own entire sound rig.
- 12:15Speaker 1: We don't need anything you provided, so are set up.
- 12:18Speaker 1: Not only did it get delayed four hours, but they
- 12:20Speaker 1: basically built an entire other rig next to the thousands
- 12:24Speaker 1: of dollars of equipment the city of l A rented
- 12:26Speaker 1: to try to accommodate them. Because they weren't they didn't communicate,
- 12:28Speaker 1: so then like it was just a mess. So I'm
- 12:31Speaker 1: glad the show went well because on my end, I
- 12:32Speaker 1: was like, up until that very moment, I was like
- 12:35Speaker 1: sweating and I'm like, all right, showtime. It's kind of
- 12:37Speaker 1: put it away. But like it was a lot um.
- 12:41Speaker 1: So that was your guys first time seeing me. My
- 12:44Speaker 1: first time seeing you guys was I think, look, I
- 12:47Speaker 1: that our radio had already been around for about because
- 12:49Speaker 1: I went to your second anniversary. Correct, I believe that
- 12:54Speaker 1: that's what it was at the Civic Center. Yeah, was
- 12:57Speaker 1: it was it number two? Was it was thinking it
- 13:00Speaker 1: was number two. It was number two because I had
- 13:03Speaker 1: seen you guys voting about on my this podcast is
- 13:04Speaker 1: really dope. You guys are super cute. Wow. And then
- 13:08Speaker 1: they also followed me, and I was like, oh my god,
- 13:10Speaker 1: and like at that point I was I'm still I
- 13:12Speaker 1: was still very green to the scene, so like getting
- 13:14Speaker 1: in with like a lot of this community. When people
- 13:16Speaker 1: would follow me or follow me first, especially, I'm like, oh,
- 13:20Speaker 1: I'm like the type of person like like refreshing all
- 13:22Speaker 1: the time, just to follow people back and get on that.
- 13:24Speaker 1: So it's very excited to get connected with you guys.
- 13:26Speaker 1: And then you guys had DM me to invite me
- 13:29Speaker 1: to the second year anniversary thing, and I was like,
- 13:31Speaker 1: holy smack, this feels very cool. I don't feel cool
- 13:34Speaker 1: enough to be invited to such a cool thing. I
- 13:36Speaker 1: don't know. It was very like imposter syndrome for a
- 13:38Speaker 1: little bit when I got When I finally got there,
- 13:40Speaker 1: you guys were so nice, so so nice. And then
- 13:44Speaker 1: I met a lot of great people at night, you know,
- 13:46Speaker 1: Brenda Gerani. We we also like became fast friends that
- 13:49Speaker 1: evening as well. And then I was just like, you
- 13:51Speaker 1: guys are the sickest and it was a cool It's
- 13:53Speaker 1: like it was everything I wanted to start to start
- 13:56Speaker 1: doing already at that moment, Like you guys put together
- 13:58Speaker 1: this entire event, you great guests, Like you guys were
- 14:01Speaker 1: really funny on stage. I was like equally as blown
- 14:04Speaker 1: away watching this like little universe you guys had like built.
- 14:07Speaker 1: And it was only the second year. Like in my mind,
- 14:09Speaker 1: you guys are already like I'm like these your lips
- 14:11Speaker 1: is great, you know. And then like and and and
- 14:13Speaker 1: so being in that uh just felt very cool to
- 14:15Speaker 1: like rub elbows and be around everybody. So that was
- 14:18Speaker 1: my first experience. But then later we did the what's
- 14:23Speaker 1: it called it? That little Oh my God, the short
- 14:25Speaker 1: film Look Yeah. Lokith is anonymous anonymous yes yeah very cool.
- 14:31Speaker 1: Has been involved now in several of our projects, starting
- 14:35Speaker 1: with Lokith as anonymous. Um Chris oldis some acting. She's
- 14:40Speaker 1: looking gorgeous. She's part of the you know um Bitt
- 14:46Speaker 1: two was her code name. Yes, part of the Lokith
- 14:49Speaker 1: as Anonymous universe. If you have not seen Lokith as
- 14:52Speaker 1: Anonymous and did not know that we also right and
- 14:54Speaker 1: produce an act in short films, you can go to
- 14:57Speaker 1: YouTube to our YouTube channel and watch LOOKI as Anonymous.
- 15:01Speaker 1: It's an eight minute short. Thank you say that? Sorry,
- 15:06Speaker 1: just to go back a little bit, like thank you
- 15:08Speaker 1: for acknowledging that was year two, because you're right, that
- 15:11Speaker 1: was year too, be like Okaya blown away? Like you
- 15:17Speaker 1: and you guys should applaud yourself for that more often,
- 15:19Speaker 1: because I've been there having to produce shows by myself
- 15:23Speaker 1: and like get all these people to come in and
- 15:25Speaker 1: like you're you feel like you feel like you're asking
- 15:28Speaker 1: for the moon. But then when you actually get the
- 15:29Speaker 1: genuine support that you need, like you really make something
- 15:32Speaker 1: amazing happens. But it starts with you, guys being authentic
- 15:34Speaker 1: and amazing, you know what I mean? And like that
- 15:37Speaker 1: was year two and it's only gotten bigger and better
- 15:39Speaker 1: since then, And like look does Anonymous was year three?
- 15:42Speaker 1: Like that's wild to me. That's like that that that
- 15:45Speaker 1: little eight minutes like and then and the film was great,
- 15:48Speaker 1: Like I really hope I actually was really hoping for
- 15:50Speaker 1: like like a comic book or like you know what
- 15:53Speaker 1: I mean, Like, I'm just I'm hoping all this stuff
- 15:54Speaker 1: so maybe and maybe I don't want to spoil things,
- 15:56Speaker 1: but I'm hoping all this stuff still happens, because it's
- 15:59Speaker 1: just such a leave that plant that there, leave that there.
- 16:03Speaker 1: We will revisit in the future shortly. Yes, anyway, thank
- 16:09Speaker 1: you so much, but please, please, please enough about us.
- 16:14Speaker 1: You must be stopped. Sorry. I love it. I love
- 16:21Speaker 1: I love the way you love your friends and your
- 16:23Speaker 1: community members out loud. You're very supportive. You're very supportive artists. Yes,
- 16:28Speaker 1: both like literally right now and literally right at this
- 16:32Speaker 1: exact moment, and also in the digital space. So thank
- 16:35Speaker 1: you so much. But you know, we invited you because
- 16:38Speaker 1: we want to hear about you and your work and
- 16:41Speaker 1: your upcoming work. All right, let me get vain for
- 16:44Speaker 1: a second, but yes, like the upcoming the new stuff.
- 16:49Speaker 1: Let's take it back a little bit and let's just
- 16:51Speaker 1: do a quick check in. Right, was a garbage fire
- 16:56Speaker 1: of a year. It was a health gape. We're still
- 16:59Speaker 1: recovering ing. It's not technically over. It feels like it's over,
- 17:02Speaker 1: but it's not. So like checking how are you doing?
- 17:05Speaker 1: You're like California has now reopened at full capacity. You're
- 17:10Speaker 1: getting booked, Like talk to us, take us and take
- 17:14Speaker 1: us back to like when the Pandemics started, because I
- 17:16Speaker 1: remember we were talking about it and like the bookings,
- 17:19Speaker 1: the shows, the income, like the work, just everything. Take
- 17:23Speaker 1: us back to then and then bring us to now. Yeah,
- 17:27Speaker 1: it's it feels like, you know, like in a roller
- 17:31Speaker 1: coaster when you go up in a loop and you
- 17:32Speaker 1: just meet at the same point at the bottom and
- 17:34Speaker 1: you keep going on the roller coaster. That's exactly what
- 17:37Speaker 1: feels like. And I just got stuck upside down in
- 17:40Speaker 1: that loop, Like that's what that That's the only way
- 17:42Speaker 1: I can physically describe how the feeling felt being an
- 17:45Speaker 1: independent fully supporting myself on music. Um, I was working
- 17:50Speaker 1: at East Side Love just before the pandemic. I've been
- 17:52Speaker 1: doing that on and off for like a couple of years.
- 17:54Speaker 1: But like that really wasn't like paying my rent. You know,
- 17:58Speaker 1: most of my my my my in come was from music.
- 18:01Speaker 1: And the pandemics started kind of like you know, being
- 18:05Speaker 1: being people like places with large crowd like, you know,
- 18:07Speaker 1: being an industry with like large crowds. Pandemic was really
- 18:10Speaker 1: like surfacing in those areas, like around February, you know,
- 18:14Speaker 1: right right right that late January February, people like, oh,
- 18:16Speaker 1: have you heard about this COVID thing? You know about
- 18:18Speaker 1: this uhan virus, you know, all these things they wanted
- 18:20Speaker 1: to call it, and um and I just remember like
- 18:24Speaker 1: people be like, Okay, maybe we won't do this thing
- 18:26Speaker 1: in March. We'll see what happens, you know, And it
- 18:29Speaker 1: was like things that were in the work suddenly got canceled.
- 18:31Speaker 1: And then I get to the end of February and
- 18:33Speaker 1: I lost one festival. Just was like, you know, we're
- 18:36Speaker 1: just not We're not going after it, and then I'll
- 18:39Speaker 1: never forget it. It was like February, I'm in the
- 18:41Speaker 1: studio and one thing about what I do or what
- 18:44Speaker 1: I did pre pandemic. I employ anywhere from like five
- 18:48Speaker 1: to eight musicians at one time. I I I do
- 18:51Speaker 1: music directing, a banned direct and I'm no, am I
- 18:54Speaker 1: there only source of income. No, But I do pay
- 18:57Speaker 1: my musicians, and I pay I'd like to say I
- 19:00Speaker 1: pay them pretty well. And we digged a lot. Twenty
- 19:02Speaker 1: nineteen were very busy, and we were gonna be even
- 19:04Speaker 1: busier getting into so I we had pretty much stuff
- 19:09Speaker 1: locked in all the way up until September, and I
- 19:12Speaker 1: just remember this. One day, I'm in the studio recording
- 19:14Speaker 1: for my EP Lovely that I dropped in September, and um,
- 19:18Speaker 1: that was actually slated to come out in the beginning
- 19:20Speaker 1: of summer to you know, not the fall, you know,
- 19:22Speaker 1: And so I'm in there doing some tracks, and within
- 19:26Speaker 1: ten minutes, I get five phone calls. Um, just individually myself,
- 19:31Speaker 1: I lost about five to six thousand dollars of income
- 19:35Speaker 1: within those ten you know what I mean, Like that
- 19:38Speaker 1: was how much like I had writing and then like
- 19:41Speaker 1: you know, it's equivalent like that's I pay my guy.
- 19:44Speaker 1: So like they're losing thousands of dollars over a couple
- 19:46Speaker 1: of months of income for themselves, and it's like, geez,
- 19:50Speaker 1: what the heck is happening? And this happened within ten minutes.
- 19:53Speaker 1: And then we go a little more further into March,
- 19:56Speaker 1: and then it's just like everything shut down. You can't gather,
- 19:59Speaker 1: you can't see people like we are collaborators, they're my friends,
- 20:03Speaker 1: you know, and you just don't know. And everybody's going
- 20:06Speaker 1: through such a weird hard time losing their livelihoods that
- 20:09Speaker 1: you don't even know how to at a You didn't
- 20:12Speaker 1: even know how to reach out to somebody say are
- 20:13Speaker 1: you okay, because you're not okay either. So it was
- 20:16Speaker 1: really professionally and very personally, very difficult. I feel for
- 20:21Speaker 1: a lot of not just musicians, but most artists are
- 20:23Speaker 1: most people that rely on public and open spaces to
- 20:26Speaker 1: make their income. Um. I know a lot of bartenders
- 20:28Speaker 1: that were struggling. And um it's also crazy too because
- 20:32Speaker 1: um as the pandemic raged on, you know, you get
- 20:35Speaker 1: all this you're inundated with information. You see like a
- 20:39Speaker 1: lot of people are getting their stride, they're doing really well.
- 20:42Speaker 1: They're either going you know, they're going on TikTok or
- 20:44Speaker 1: a lot of people are hiding. And then you get
- 20:46Speaker 1: this social justice movement that's happening. A lot of us
- 20:48Speaker 1: are artists who feel empathy, and then you just get
- 20:51Speaker 1: this weight of heavy like what do I do? I
- 20:53Speaker 1: wasn't even doing enough before the pandemic, Like what am
- 20:55Speaker 1: I supposed to do now? And then top it off,
- 20:59Speaker 1: being a creator who has a family, who's mostly in
- 21:04Speaker 1: like a normal professional working space. So yeah, they all
- 21:07Speaker 1: had to work from home for a little while, but
- 21:09Speaker 1: like nobody in my family really missed a beat, and
- 21:11Speaker 1: no one missed checks, no one missed you know. Actually,
- 21:15Speaker 1: if anything, my brother had like two of my brothers
- 21:17Speaker 1: had kids and like moved on with their lives and
- 21:18Speaker 1: like had wives and women and and and you know,
- 21:21Speaker 1: and a lot of blessings happened in my family. So
- 21:25Speaker 1: I'm internally also not able to voice how hard it
- 21:29Speaker 1: was on me up until up until I really did.
- 21:32Speaker 1: You know, I'm sure I'm not. I'm just being very
- 21:34Speaker 1: transparent about like the mental whole it took because like
- 21:37Speaker 1: I also try not to be a burden to those
- 21:39Speaker 1: that I loved, because they're all experienced such happiness in
- 21:43Speaker 1: this weird time. So it's like you're resentful, but you're
- 21:46Speaker 1: also happy, and it's like it was weird and you
- 21:49Speaker 1: want to write about it, but you're also like, I
- 21:50Speaker 1: don't want to like exploit my own bandit, you know,
- 21:53Speaker 1: my trauma for my vanity or it's weird. It was
- 21:56Speaker 1: really weird. And then around September, you know, to to
- 22:02Speaker 1: shy a, you know, for some positivity. I was happy
- 22:04Speaker 1: to do, like I really did, like I got back
- 22:06Speaker 1: into cooking, and you know, you just did all the
- 22:08Speaker 1: all the like that part of the pandemic that was
- 22:10Speaker 1: a vibe. Started roller skating, you know, connected with Mala
- 22:13Speaker 1: and a few other friends people and you Theosa too,
- 22:15Speaker 1: like friends that I really don't think I would have
- 22:18Speaker 1: had the time to interact with because I would have
- 22:21Speaker 1: been so much busier in I my my circle completely
- 22:26Speaker 1: changed because I started connecting with people because we're a
- 22:29Speaker 1: having a shared experience. But now we have time to
- 22:32Speaker 1: talk and it's not networking, and like, hey, nobody's working,
- 22:35Speaker 1: so I if I'm reaching out to you, it's genuinely
- 22:37Speaker 1: because like I have the mental energy to and I
- 22:39Speaker 1: find you interesting and there's a lot more I don't know,
- 22:42Speaker 1: just so like that was also a very interesting dynamic.
- 22:46Speaker 1: And the friends that I feel like I solidified over
- 22:49Speaker 1: the pandemic, we're just like it just felt really rewarding.
- 22:52Speaker 1: And then getting into September, it's it's been a dream
- 22:54Speaker 1: of mine since I was a kid to also act,
- 22:55Speaker 1: but um, yeah, you know, and I never really had
- 22:59Speaker 1: the confidence to pursue the way that I did music.
- 23:02Speaker 1: But the one thing, one thing I can finally sum
- 23:04Speaker 1: this up to of that I learned throughout the pandemic
- 23:07Speaker 1: is that if the world told me you will never
- 23:10Speaker 1: be able to sing on a public stage ever. Again,
- 23:14Speaker 1: what are you gonna do? I'm still gonna find myself
- 23:17Speaker 1: in a quiet room by myself, banging on a piano.
- 23:20Speaker 1: You know. I'm still gonna try to sing. I'm still
- 23:22Speaker 1: gonna try to create and perform. And it's literally the
- 23:25Speaker 1: only thing I thought of, obviously other than my family
- 23:28Speaker 1: and loved ones and all that stuff, but it's the
- 23:30Speaker 1: only thing I thought of for the entire pandemic, was
- 23:32Speaker 1: how to continue to be the artist that I want
- 23:35Speaker 1: to be without any monetary like incentive. So it really
- 23:41Speaker 1: solidified that, like, if you have this dream and you're
- 23:44Speaker 1: and you were able to like sit with it in
- 23:46Speaker 1: the trenches with it and still have it and still
- 23:48Speaker 1: hold onto it and have hope, it's what you want
- 23:50Speaker 1: to do and it's your purpose on the planet. So
- 23:52Speaker 1: I let go of this, Like, Okay, I can't act
- 23:57Speaker 1: because I need to focus on music. I don't want
- 23:58Speaker 1: people to think it's not part of my brand. And
- 24:00Speaker 1: I'm like, what, like, I want to add because I
- 24:01Speaker 1: want to act, or I wanna you know, I want
- 24:04Speaker 1: to produce because I want to produce, or I want
- 24:06Speaker 1: to learn people, I want to get better at piano
- 24:07Speaker 1: because it's part of what I do, you know, and
- 24:09Speaker 1: not having these like these doubts of um like that
- 24:13Speaker 1: again that imposter syndrome, or that you're not good enough
- 24:15Speaker 1: to do certain things. Like I'm like, look like it
- 24:17Speaker 1: could all go away tomorrow and you're still gonna want it.
- 24:19Speaker 1: Just do it absolutely like adapting, adapting to the world
- 24:25Speaker 1: and too circumstances, but still doing the things that we love.
- 24:30Speaker 1: And I just kind of want to piggyback on on
- 24:33Speaker 1: also just continuing and going and doing it even when
- 24:40Speaker 1: literally the world is shutting down. Um, everything seems to
- 24:43Speaker 1: be against you. There's no money, there seems like there's
- 24:47Speaker 1: sometimes like the momentum feels like it's slowing down, like
- 24:51Speaker 1: but just persisting and continuing to put out work. I
- 24:55Speaker 1: are you. Probably if you listen to this podcast, you've
- 24:57Speaker 1: probably seen me ranting and raving on Twitter about about
- 25:01Speaker 1: how Crystal should have been cast as Selena and Selena
- 25:04Speaker 1: the series because I stand by that ship and because
- 25:07Speaker 1: I believe it, and because there's so much talent out here,
- 25:10Speaker 1: and I think of I think of Christol obviously, I
- 25:12Speaker 1: think of us in our own way. There are so
- 25:15Speaker 1: many others in our little l a Latin X creative
- 25:18Speaker 1: community that are hyper talented, that are really funding, self funding,
- 25:24Speaker 1: self producing really impressive bodies of work. I mean the
- 25:27Speaker 1: Lovely EP I'm obsessed with. It's so good, Ghost Dream Lovely.
- 25:32Speaker 1: Let it be Lovely, bitch Like, it's amazing. The disco
- 25:35Speaker 1: fields are everything. If you like to skate, this is
- 25:38Speaker 1: definitely the EP for you. But you know, it's like,
- 25:41Speaker 1: we know talent when we see it, and you don't
- 25:44Speaker 1: have to be someone raking in millions of dollars in
- 25:47Speaker 1: order for us to acknowledge that you're talented, you know
- 25:50Speaker 1: what I mean, Like one doesn't need a record deal
- 25:52Speaker 1: in order for us to acknowledge the talent that is
- 25:55Speaker 1: just there. And um, we wanted also to have Christal
- 25:58Speaker 1: in the podcast because we've believe that we are catching
- 26:01Speaker 1: tomorrow's like superstars right like while they're still accessible to us,
- 26:06Speaker 1: while we can still get to them. And Chris Paul
- 26:09Speaker 1: is one of those people, So go follow her, go
- 26:13Speaker 1: stream her music. You have a new body of work
- 26:16Speaker 1: coming out called Retroactive that I would love for us
- 26:19Speaker 1: to start talking about to get the people pumped because
- 26:22Speaker 1: it's coming soon. Yes, Um, yes, yes, yes, yes yes,
- 26:25Speaker 1: So um, at least one of you throughout during the pandemic,
- 26:28Speaker 1: like in September or whatever, things started opening up. And
- 26:31Speaker 1: then I looked back at my catalog and I'm like,
- 26:35Speaker 1: well again, part of this whole addressing fear, addressing not
- 26:38Speaker 1: self doubt, not being good enough confidence. And I look
- 26:41Speaker 1: back at my catalog and I was like, there's some
- 26:43Speaker 1: good ship here that I talked myself out of releasing
- 26:46Speaker 1: for a number of reasons. So I kind of went
- 26:49Speaker 1: in and I'm grateful that I weeded because now I'm
- 26:51Speaker 1: a much better, more sound musician and I'm able to
- 26:55Speaker 1: ask specifically for what I want. So um, I wrote
- 26:58Speaker 1: one brand new track and then there's four there's three
- 27:00Speaker 1: songs that are I wrote them funny. They were both
- 27:04Speaker 1: written and all of them each were probably done and
- 27:06Speaker 1: about under an hour, but they were done and under
- 27:08Speaker 1: an hour like six years ago. And then uh, they
- 27:11Speaker 1: just sat there in the desk of demos, as they do.
- 27:14Speaker 1: And so I kind of made this ton of like retroact,
- 27:18Speaker 1: like retroactively releasing music that was written from the past,
- 27:21Speaker 1: but you know, it's it's current now and and and
- 27:23Speaker 1: it's still of me and Uh, yeah, so I have
- 27:26Speaker 1: I put them all together, and now I have another
- 27:29Speaker 1: record that I'm very excited about that a year ago
- 27:32Speaker 1: I probably would have a year ago, I did talk
- 27:34Speaker 1: myself out of putting this music out because I don't
- 27:37Speaker 1: know why. I really don't. I'm like, sometimes I want
- 27:39Speaker 1: to shake her, you know. Um, But it's the VPS
- 27:43Speaker 1: title that it's called Retroactive. There's four songs. Um. I
- 27:47Speaker 1: have a single. The lead single off the of the
- 27:49Speaker 1: EP is called Juliet. It's gonna drop on July two.
- 27:53Speaker 1: And then uh, I'm just trying to figure out the
- 27:55Speaker 1: time I win this will air, but like it'll drop
- 27:57Speaker 1: on July two. The entire EP is gonna be out
- 27:59Speaker 1: July twenty heard. Um, I'm very very proud of this
- 28:03Speaker 1: little body of work. Like I said, it is, it's
- 28:06Speaker 1: a mix of like me being confident enough to release
- 28:08Speaker 1: stuff that I had in the vault, but also one
- 28:10Speaker 1: of those tracks is as a song that I like,
- 28:13Speaker 1: like I had a huge hand in producing. So I'm
- 28:15Speaker 1: very very proud of it. Um. And yeah, you know
- 28:18Speaker 1: it's with my usual collaborators, Demons. He worked with me
- 28:21Speaker 1: on my first EP. Also brought in someone news names
- 28:23Speaker 1: Rich Gonzalez. He's a person I wrote that song Adams
- 28:26Speaker 1: with UM, but he produced two as the tracks on
- 28:28Speaker 1: this UM trying to make sure I don't forget anybody
- 28:32Speaker 1: else that's involved. But oh so I worked with some
- 28:34Speaker 1: vocal work with Brian Gazzo, who plays drums in my band,
- 28:37Speaker 1: and uh yeah, it's just I'm very, very excited to
- 28:40Speaker 1: be putting out new music and this is gonna slap like.
- 28:42Speaker 1: I'm literally listening to it so much that's I'm starting
- 28:45Speaker 1: to hate myself a little bit. But I'm very excited
- 28:48Speaker 1: about it. And I'm sure the second is out in
- 28:50Speaker 1: the world and be like, I don't want to hear
- 28:51Speaker 1: it ever again, but right now because it's mine and
- 28:53Speaker 1: I'm kind of just like hugging it before I release
- 28:55Speaker 1: it to you all, I literally can't listen to anything else.
- 28:58Speaker 1: And I'm hoping once I give it out to the world,
- 29:01Speaker 1: you guys will all have the same experience with that
- 29:03Speaker 1: I did, because it it's great, it's fun. The banger,
- 29:07Speaker 1: Juliet is a banger. Sure, I'm sure we will all
- 29:11Speaker 1: love it. Thank you so much for adding or sharing
- 29:16Speaker 1: that you went into your vault and like pulled some
- 29:21Speaker 1: songs out right, you revisited past work because I think
- 29:24Speaker 1: like as artists were so pressure to like create new
- 29:27Speaker 1: stuff constantly, but sometimes we're like sitting on work that
- 29:31Speaker 1: like we haven't visited in a long time, and it
- 29:33Speaker 1: just takes revisiting and like revamping and editing and then
- 29:38Speaker 1: putting that out into the world in whatever way that
- 29:41Speaker 1: looks for like each person. Um. And so I love
- 29:44Speaker 1: that you shared that because a lot of the times
- 29:46Speaker 1: we've got to step away and then we come back
- 29:48Speaker 1: and we stay with a fresh set of honestly. And
- 29:50Speaker 1: then I also think that too, there should be no
- 29:52Speaker 1: shame in putting something out in a few years, looking
- 29:54Speaker 1: at it and be like, I'm gonna rework this. It's yours,
- 29:57Speaker 1: you know, it's yours. You put it out there and
- 29:59Speaker 1: it becomes somebody else's and maybe you revamp it and
- 30:02Speaker 1: you think it's better, but someone's like I really like
- 30:04Speaker 1: the old version, you know. Um. But I I read somewhere,
- 30:08Speaker 1: um there somewhere just on the Internet, and it just said,
- 30:11Speaker 1: how like the the moment you release a song is
- 30:14Speaker 1: the most it's the most like infancy stage of the song,
- 30:17Speaker 1: because once it's out, that's like there you know, it's
- 30:21Speaker 1: the newest, it's the earliest, it's it's it's it's it's beginning,
- 30:23Speaker 1: and you just perform it and you work it, and
- 30:25Speaker 1: it just by the time you get to the end
- 30:27Speaker 1: of your life or you get to the next album,
- 30:30Speaker 1: that song has changed so much. And like so really
- 30:33Speaker 1: the song, the songs that you put out, or the
- 30:35Speaker 1: body of work or the writings or whatever, as you grow,
- 30:38Speaker 1: even if you go back and change it, you know
- 30:39Speaker 1: what I mean, or like the way you deliver a poem,
- 30:40Speaker 1: you know what I mean, It's gonna change as you change.
- 30:43Speaker 1: But that doesn't mean in the beginning of it was
- 30:45Speaker 1: any less valid or bad. It's just what you could
- 30:47Speaker 1: do at the time. And you kind of like it's
- 30:49Speaker 1: like I said, it's all that self doubt and that fear.
- 30:52Speaker 1: You know, it's not gonna go away. But you have
- 30:53Speaker 1: to learn either EBB and flow with it or sometimes yeah,
- 30:56Speaker 1: just like like shut up, I have to do this
- 30:58Speaker 1: against your perfectionist sensibilities and really just let let it out,
- 31:02Speaker 1: you know, and divine timing, giving giving it a little
- 31:07Speaker 1: bit of divine timing really helps because like had I
- 31:09Speaker 1: dropped these songs six years ago when I wrote them
- 31:12Speaker 1: and the like ten minutes after I finished them. I
- 31:15Speaker 1: don't even know where I would be, who i'd be around,
- 31:17Speaker 1: and if they'd be as good. Honestly, they probably wouldn't. Yeah,
- 31:21Speaker 1: I echoed thesa sentiment to about needing to put out
- 31:26Speaker 1: new work. Also with social media and TikTok and the
- 31:30Speaker 1: algorithm putting out new work every day, multiple times a day,
- 31:34Speaker 1: just constantly churning out work. We we've never really been
- 31:39Speaker 1: about that. We can't. It's too much and is the
- 31:43Speaker 1: stuff good? Is? Does it stand? Does it? What's it for?
- 31:47Speaker 1: You know? So relieved honestly to like have this conversation
- 31:52Speaker 1: about like taking a breath and like letting the work
- 31:55Speaker 1: breathe and grow the way that it should because it's
- 31:57Speaker 1: a living thing, right rush something It's gonna feel and
- 32:01Speaker 1: look and sound rashed exactly, And like to be honest,
- 32:05Speaker 1: like I hate churning out mediocrity for the sake of volume.
- 32:10Speaker 1: That to me like it because because we're not doing
- 32:13Speaker 1: like it's one thing to do like story posts or
- 32:15Speaker 1: like something, you know what I mean? Like you know
- 32:16Speaker 1: you you do things daily that are like loudest crazy
- 32:20Speaker 1: commitment posting a selfie is nothing not the same as
- 32:23Speaker 1: you posting a body of work a music video or
- 32:26Speaker 1: you know, like, uh, it's not it's not the same.
- 32:29Speaker 1: I mean, put yourselfies are both of yourselfies are works
- 32:31Speaker 1: of art. I'm not saying that it's more just like
- 32:33Speaker 1: but you know what I mean, but think type of
- 32:36Speaker 1: but it's a different type of like content than you know,
- 32:39Speaker 1: when you you are creating something else of you, you know,
- 32:42Speaker 1: and that has to take patients and like my my
- 32:45Speaker 1: big gripe and I'm gonna get I'm gonna talk my
- 32:47Speaker 1: ship a little bit because being a proud Latina, you know,
- 32:51Speaker 1: you know, Latina part of Latin community, I want to
- 32:55Speaker 1: make sure that I'm a part of this community that's
- 32:57Speaker 1: turning out quality content. And I'm a firm believer that
- 33:00Speaker 1: the friends have surrounded myself with our able to deliver
- 33:05Speaker 1: that quality content. And if we all like make sure
- 33:07Speaker 1: that we're holding each other accountable to that quality and
- 33:10Speaker 1: supportive but also being you know, really honest, like you know, like,
- 33:13Speaker 1: because all it's gonna do is uplift and and create
- 33:17Speaker 1: you know, set standard, and it's gonna you know, turn
- 33:20Speaker 1: more eyeballs towards us, Like we really have to be
- 33:22Speaker 1: adamant about demanding quality of ourselves and our friends. And
- 33:25Speaker 1: you know, you just need the ship on everybody's work either,
- 33:28Speaker 1: you know what I mean, Like like but like really
- 33:30Speaker 1: just like yes, like you see someone shining and it's like, yes,
- 33:33Speaker 1: let's amplify this because I mean really, like we call
- 33:37Speaker 1: it the movie scene or whatever, or the film industry
- 33:39Speaker 1: or the music industry, but really it's all like the
- 33:41Speaker 1: it's you know, it's it's the it's the gatekeepers, it's
- 33:44Speaker 1: you know, call it the you know, the white man
- 33:46Speaker 1: or whatever. It is, like like like Ebern and Groper,
- 33:52Speaker 1: like they rip each other, you know, like the people
- 33:54Speaker 1: bring each other apart. You know, they're very critical of
- 33:57Speaker 1: people that look the same as they do, you know
- 33:59Speaker 1: what I mean. And like I'm not saying ship on everything,
- 34:01Speaker 1: but we really need to just be like, hey, let's
- 34:05Speaker 1: let's amplify the quality and not let things fail upwards, right,
- 34:10Speaker 1: you know it's true it's social because sorry, so I
- 34:16Speaker 1: don't need to cut you off, but I did want
- 34:19Speaker 1: to say, like, we notice that when we put something out,
- 34:25Speaker 1: there are certain people that will engage, and there are
- 34:28Speaker 1: certain people that you expect to engage in support and
- 34:32Speaker 1: share an uplift that don't And so just like a
- 34:35Speaker 1: reminder when your folks, even if they're not your folks,
- 34:38Speaker 1: right there just someone that you appreciate there are and
- 34:41Speaker 1: even if there maybe they you don't exactly funk with
- 34:43Speaker 1: them either, but you do support what they do, like
- 34:45Speaker 1: that kind of sharing, and especially now with the algorithm,
- 34:49Speaker 1: Like I think a lot of us are being very
- 34:51Speaker 1: like conscientious of like, yeah, we're gonna share this and
- 34:54Speaker 1: we're gonna comment because like we know that the indie
- 34:56Speaker 1: creators like need that extra boost because if not, it
- 34:59Speaker 1: will flop. And it doesn't mean that it's a flap,
- 35:01Speaker 1: but sometimes social media makes you think feel like it
- 35:03Speaker 1: is a flap. Yeah, it's like a weird dance that
- 35:05Speaker 1: you have to do where it's like, all right, well, indy,
- 35:07Speaker 1: we have to band together. But then it's also like
- 35:10Speaker 1: we also don't want to throw a like or a
- 35:12Speaker 1: share of follow behind something that we don't truly believe in.
- 35:15Speaker 1: But then how can you deny when your entire circle
- 35:18Speaker 1: is incredibly talented, you know what I mean? And that
- 35:20Speaker 1: that's where I'm more just like looking at your peers
- 35:23Speaker 1: and being like, hey, we're all like being very cognizant
- 35:25Speaker 1: of each other's strength, encouraging things, being like, um, hey,
- 35:30Speaker 1: you know what man like this is like I don't know.
- 35:33Speaker 1: Like again, people, you don't need my opinions. I'm like,
- 35:35Speaker 1: it's not I'm not saying your art isn't valid, but
- 35:37Speaker 1: it's like if we're if we're contributing as part of
- 35:39Speaker 1: as part of a Latino scene, I'm just like, we
- 35:42Speaker 1: have to be unafraid to like really deliver honest opinions,
- 35:45Speaker 1: really give genuine support. It's another thing. If you're not
- 35:48Speaker 1: getting genuine support, it's just as bad as beiving a
- 35:51Speaker 1: bad critique because then you're getting you know what I
- 35:54Speaker 1: mean that you're you're I don't know, it's it's it's
- 35:56Speaker 1: a weird dance to do because it's like it's, yeah,
- 35:58Speaker 1: it is your friends were all independent. But I'm like
- 36:00Speaker 1: I'd much rather have people tell me, like christ All,
- 36:02Speaker 1: this is like not that good. You know what I mean,
- 36:05Speaker 1: that's that's not why. Yeah we're like hey, Christal, like
- 36:08Speaker 1: this is like you know someone who's you know, who's
- 36:12Speaker 1: willing to mentor me be like hey, by the way,
- 36:13Speaker 1: I see the potential in this. You miss the mark
- 36:15Speaker 1: by this much. I've had people straight up tell me
- 36:17Speaker 1: that in a very nice way, like you're so almost there,
- 36:20Speaker 1: it's crazy, And I'm like, thank you. Cool. That doesn't
- 36:23Speaker 1: really know, at the very least, I'm looking in the
- 36:24Speaker 1: right direction, you know what I mean? That doesn't feel
- 36:26Speaker 1: like like trash. Um. Yeah, I think I think for
- 36:29Speaker 1: us a lot of what it is is like, um,
- 36:33Speaker 1: almost when you see that somebody near you or around
- 36:37Speaker 1: you is putting together something like truly excellent and amazing,
- 36:41Speaker 1: Like when we're impressed by the people around us, it
- 36:45Speaker 1: really makes us Okay, well, how do we how do
- 36:48Speaker 1: we do something like that? How do we do something similar?
- 36:50Speaker 1: How do we do something completely different than that? That's
- 36:54Speaker 1: our own? But you know, it is kind of like
- 36:57Speaker 1: giving us that same inspiration. Like if the artists and
- 37:01Speaker 1: the work that you're surrounded by is you know, garbage,
- 37:05Speaker 1: then maybe you're not as compelled. I don't know. I
- 37:09Speaker 1: think to each their own, it's different. One thing that
- 37:12Speaker 1: we do notice is, like you know, on on the internet,
- 37:14Speaker 1: and we talk about the Internet so much just because like, um,
- 37:18Speaker 1: it's free PR and that's everything, and we don't have
- 37:21Speaker 1: PR people and all your favorite artists, everybody who's like
- 37:25Speaker 1: selling millions and making millions and stadiums. They have pr
- 37:29Speaker 1: people pushing their ship constantly, like they have teams armies
- 37:34Speaker 1: of people pushing their stuff to out to you so
- 37:37Speaker 1: that you know who they are. We don't have any
- 37:39Speaker 1: of that, right we have to We have to push
- 37:41Speaker 1: it out ourselves with our itty bitty fingers on our phones. Literally,
- 37:47Speaker 1: it's just phones on fingers pushing our shipped out to
- 37:50Speaker 1: you guys. Um. And that's why we talk about it
- 37:52Speaker 1: so much, because it really does matter. And what we
- 37:55Speaker 1: see a lot of is some of the biggest accounts
- 37:58Speaker 1: with the most followers and the most interaction, in the
- 38:01Speaker 1: most engagement in the Latin X space. Mind. You know,
- 38:05Speaker 1: there there meme accounts, their meme accounts, their meme accounts,
- 38:08Speaker 1: and a lot of it is sucking trash as memes,
- 38:11Speaker 1: I'm gonna say it, trash trash, ask memes, accounts that
- 38:14Speaker 1: are highly homophobic, that are highly xenophobic, that displante blackness,
- 38:20Speaker 1: that are really sucking, corny and trashy like in in
- 38:23Speaker 1: ungod ways, in ways we don't like, you know, but
- 38:27Speaker 1: they get the most, they get the most engagement and
- 38:29Speaker 1: the most followers and the most, you know, and so
- 38:31Speaker 1: it's just a little frustrating because then we try and
- 38:35Speaker 1: sort of okay, well, this is how the algorithm is working.
- 38:37Speaker 1: Let's throw a meme on our page that ship gets
- 38:39Speaker 1: the most likes, in the most engagement, and the most interaction.
- 38:43Speaker 1: I think. I think one of my highest performing clost
- 38:45Speaker 1: one time was like a little meme format that I did,
- 38:47Speaker 1: which is hilarious. But um yeah, you know, I just
- 38:50Speaker 1: I'm very uncomfortable with the idea of essentializing what it
- 38:54Speaker 1: means to be Latino, essentializing what it means to be
- 38:56Speaker 1: a Latin X artist, or especially a female Latino artists.
- 38:59Speaker 1: You know, I must look or perform a certain way
- 39:02Speaker 1: like I'm you know, I you know I I want
- 39:07Speaker 1: to be able to and then you know, even with
- 39:08Speaker 1: this music, you know what I mean, Like this music
- 39:10Speaker 1: that i've you know, just hie back to that like
- 39:11Speaker 1: that I'm putting out. I'm in love with it. I'm
- 39:14Speaker 1: excited mostly, and I'm also highly terrified because genre wise,
- 39:19Speaker 1: I don't know, like, if it's what people are gonna
- 39:22Speaker 1: expect of me, it's definitely a step of where I'm going,
- 39:26Speaker 1: you know, because even the next album is going to
- 39:27Speaker 1: be different because I'm growing, you know what I mean,
- 39:29Speaker 1: And like I keep thinking, well should and people will
- 39:32Speaker 1: call me straight up like you should do this. Have
- 39:33Speaker 1: you heard of this artist? You should be like her
- 39:35Speaker 1: blah blah blahahm, Like but I'm not her. If you
- 39:37Speaker 1: want her and go hire her, you know, or you
- 39:40Speaker 1: know what I mean, and and I'm but I'm also
- 39:41Speaker 1: like I I I it is set essentialization, you know
- 39:45Speaker 1: what I mean. Like I've had people tell me multiple
- 39:46Speaker 1: times like, oh, you should be doing low rider Olie stuff,
- 39:49Speaker 1: and I'm like, you know, I'm like, and I'm like no,
- 39:54Speaker 1: and and like or like oh, or tell me like
- 39:56Speaker 1: why don't you do why don't you do Manatti? Why
- 39:58Speaker 1: don't you do like super pop or whatever or like
- 40:01Speaker 1: or you know, and then they'll ask me to do
- 40:03Speaker 1: typical or like that get going, you know what I mean.
- 40:04Speaker 1: I'm like, I love and appreciate I'm not I don't
- 40:06Speaker 1: doubt I won't ever write those kinds of songs even
- 40:08Speaker 1: you know, but like to have that imposed on me
- 40:11Speaker 1: because it's more comfortable for you to see me as
- 40:13Speaker 1: a Latino artist in a space that you've essentralized me
- 40:15Speaker 1: in is something that I'm just trying to like I'm not.
- 40:18Speaker 1: It's it's like I'm almost like passively or subconsciously breaking
- 40:22Speaker 1: away from it by like just writing and looking and
- 40:24Speaker 1: doing whatever I want, you know what I mean. Like
- 40:26Speaker 1: I like that I'm a little bit of a tomboy
- 40:27Speaker 1: but can also go very fat. I like that I
- 40:29Speaker 1: do disco but can also do a ballot you know
- 40:31Speaker 1: what I mean. I I and if that makes it
- 40:34Speaker 1: so that I can't go mainstream successful, fine, But I
- 40:37Speaker 1: also think there's a lot more kids because I'm first generation,
- 40:39Speaker 1: you know what I mean. Like, I think there's a
- 40:40Speaker 1: lot more people that grew up like me that are
- 40:42Speaker 1: just starting to wake up and now they're my age,
- 40:45Speaker 1: and they have disposable income, you know what I mean.
- 40:46Speaker 1: They're throwing their their their likes and their money behind
- 40:49Speaker 1: things that they see that they that resonate with them,
- 40:51Speaker 1: kind of like you know how you're talking about the earlier,
- 40:53Speaker 1: Like we look back and we see the things that
- 40:55Speaker 1: would like really stuck with us when we were younger,
- 40:57Speaker 1: and now that we're older, we're like, oh, I like
- 40:59Speaker 1: this the changed me. I had a thought about it.
- 41:02Speaker 1: I'm older and understand it. Now. Let me now put
- 41:04Speaker 1: my money behind things that continue to make me feel
- 41:06Speaker 1: that way because I'm proud of that feeling. I'm proud
- 41:08Speaker 1: of of of thinking differently and that I was always
- 41:11Speaker 1: on this path and now I'm old enough to actually
- 41:14Speaker 1: speak on it. Yes, yes, queen, yes, yes, Well, well,
