- 0:01We get prompted inwardly to do something.
- 0:04In some cases we have conflicting impulses or
- 0:06reactions. We wonder how to distinguish the
- 0:10divine will from all the other drives, motives, forces, and
- 0:15options that confront us. Add to this the complications of
- 0:21the vital nature in its attempts to justify and fulfill its
- 0:25desires. Having the ability to convince
- 0:28the mind about what it wants, we thus effectively paralyze the
- 0:32mental understanding through this vital interaction.
- 0:36Then we have the mind itself with its ideas, philosophies,
- 0:41religious tenets, moral rules that tries to superimpose these
- 0:46onto the being without reference to any higher power or source.
- 0:51In some cases these rules lead to an awakening of what we call
- 0:55the conscience, which is actually mainly just the
- 0:58conflict between the vital nature and the mental rules that
- 1:02have been drummed into us. There are several indicators of
- 1:06the divine will within this framework.
- 1:09The vital demands are generally loud and powerful, while the
- 1:13voice of the psychic being is generally quiet and non
- 1:17insistent. The framework of the mental
- 1:20consciousness reveals itself as we are able to adopt the
- 1:24standpoint of the witness consciousness as rigid and
- 1:28limited, as opposed to taking a more wide and flexible approach.
- 1:33And in each case, the physical vital mental being primarily
- 1:37looks at things from its own ego standpoint and the benefit it
- 1:42can accrue from whatever the proposed action turns out to be.
- 1:46These are signs of the control, or at least the admixture of the
- 1:51ego consciousness rather than the divine consciousness.
- 1:57The Mother provides us a methodology for recognizing the
- 2:00Divine will. It requires a separation of the
- 2:04inner observer from the outer nature, and then the ability to
- 2:08listen to the quiet voice of the psychic being, which channels
- 2:13the divine intention and the absolute sincerity to follow
- 2:17this guidance when it comes. The Mother observes.
- 2:22Quote. How are we to know, you will
- 2:25ask, when it is the Divine will that makes us act?
- 2:29The Divine will is not difficult to recognize.
- 2:32It is unmistakable. You can know it without being
- 2:35very far on the path. Only you must listen to its
- 2:39voice, the small voice that is here in the heart.
- 2:43Once you are accustomed to listen, if you do anything that
- 2:47is contrary to the Divine will, you feel an uneasiness.
- 2:52If you persist on the wrong track, you get very much
- 2:56disturbed. If, however, you give some
- 2:59material excuses, the cause of your uneasiness, and proceed on
- 3:03your way, you gradually lose the faculty of perception, and
- 3:08finally you may go on doing all kinds of wrong and feel no
- 3:13uneasiness. But if when once you feel the
- 3:17least disturbance, you stop and ask of your inner self what is
- 3:22the cause of this, then you do get the real answer and the
- 3:26whole thing becomes quite clear. Do not try to give a material
- 3:30excuse when you feel a little depression or a slight
- 3:34uneasiness. When you stop and look about for
- 3:37the reason, be absolutely straight and sincere.
- 3:42At first, your mind will construct a very plausible and
- 3:45beautiful explanation. Do not accept it, but look
- 3:50beyond and ask what is it that is behind this movement?
- 3:54Why am I doing this? Finally, you will discover
- 3:59hidden in a corner, the little ripple, a slight wrong turn or
- 4:04twist in your attitude that is caused the trouble or
- 4:09disturbance. End Quote Reference Sri
