- 0:00SPEAKER_00: Hey guys, Reed with uh Nuclear Soul Seekers, also podcast Trap Souls.
- 0:03SPEAKER_00: I'm here with Mike and Patty.
- 0:05SPEAKER_00: Mike and Patty own uh the Hunter's Tavern, previously known as Hunter's Inn, uh bar here in Trumbull Townships.
- 0:12SPEAKER_00: We want to do an investigation here.
- 0:14SPEAKER_00: Um, I know you guys both follow the podcasts and uh the group, and we mentioned it when I was in here drinking water because obviously there would be no reason for me to come in here and indulge in nice bourbon activities.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: So you guys mentioned the fact that you know you guys, you know, it's a nice place, but it's old, it has history, and we kind of talked about it, and you guys invited me to be able to come in here and do an investigation.
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: So if you guys want just uh if you could tell the people a little bit about the history of you guys coming in and maybe what your thoughts and feelings are here and what you guys are trying to bring to the community too.
- 0:48SPEAKER_02: Um, so we had been looking for a bar for quite some time.
- 0:53SPEAKER_02: Um, and then when this became available the last uh in the summertime, uh we looked into it and it was like, well, it's a community bar, it's it it's we live in the community, why not reach out and see if we could go ahead and purchase it and keep it as a community bar okay um neighborhood friendly type atmosphere.
- 1:17SPEAKER_02: Um and so we were able to do that.
- 1:20SPEAKER_02: We opened up the beginning of September of 2024.
- 1:24SPEAKER_02: Okay, yes, and um so here we are.
- 1:28SPEAKER_02: Um the place has a lot of history.
- 1:30SPEAKER_02: Uh it was once a pickle factory.
- 1:34SPEAKER_02: Wow, um, it was a general type store um that sold cigars, groceries, Sherwin Williams Paints.
- 1:43SPEAKER_00: Wow, okay.
- 1:44SPEAKER_02: Yeah, um you used to come here to bring your scrap.
- 1:48SPEAKER_02: Um you could trade your scrap in.
- 1:51SPEAKER_02: Um and then it became um a bar.
- 1:55SPEAKER_02: It sold liquor in the 50s.
- 1:58SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 1:58SPEAKER_00: Now when it became a bar, did it also do the general store things too, or just just a bar?
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: Just the bar then.
- 2:04SPEAKER_02: It became a bar, yes.
- 2:05SPEAKER_02: Okay, yeah.
- 2:06SPEAKER_01: It was the local tavern.
- 2:07SPEAKER_02: The local local tavern, yes.
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: Is that what it what it was called?
- 2:10SPEAKER_00: The local tavern?
- 2:11SPEAKER_02: No, it was called Hunter's Inn.
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: Oh, that's what it started as as a bar.
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: Okay, great.
- 2:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 2:17SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: So so you guys came in, you want to do more community events.
- 2:21SPEAKER_00: I know I've come in a couple times and you're back there making some fresh burgers.
- 2:25SPEAKER_00: You guys try to do all natural local beefs and everything crafted from the community, right?
- 2:32SPEAKER_02: Right, right.
- 2:32SPEAKER_02: So we get our our uh meat for our uh burgers locally.
- 2:37SPEAKER_02: Um and uh we are now uh featuring M Cellars wines.
- 2:43SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 2:44SPEAKER_02: Um and so yes, we we want to keep things as local as we possibly can.
- 2:49SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 2:50SPEAKER_02: Yep, helping.
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: So M Cellars is a local winery.
- 2:52SPEAKER_02: M Cellars is a local winery.
- 2:54SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 2:55SPEAKER_02: Um they're on South River Road.
- 2:57SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 2:57SPEAKER_00: Um and yeah, so what are uh what are a couple any stories that you've heard of this location?
- 3:03SPEAKER_00: Maybe when you came in, you got a lot of locals that come in and drink at this bar, obviously.
- 3:08SPEAKER_01: Um I had a couple people say that they've been in here when things have been different.
- 3:15SPEAKER_01: And when you say different, I just feel cold spot here, okay.
- 3:21SPEAKER_01: Air moving or something.
- 3:23SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 3:24SPEAKER_01: And I know Patty had something going on over here.
- 3:28SPEAKER_00: Ooh, Patty, so would you like to tell us about what happened over here?
- 3:31SPEAKER_00: Mike kinda kinda tiptoed into that, so you're not gonna escape that one.
- 3:35SPEAKER_02: Um, I was back here sitting, kind of taking a a little break um by myself, and I had my eyes closed and I was relaxed, and it felt like somebody pushed me in my back.
- 3:49SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 3:50SPEAKER_02: And there was no one back here other than me.
- 3:54SPEAKER_00: Really?
- 3:54SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 3:55SPEAKER_02: So it was a little strange.
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: Well, uh maybe they were saying, welcome to the community, right?
- 4:00SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 4:00unknown: Yeah.
- 4:01SPEAKER_02: Or what are you doing sitting in my seat?
- 4:03SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 4:03SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 4:04SPEAKER_00: Oh, okay.
- 4:06SPEAKER_00: Well, good deal.
- 4:07SPEAKER_00: Well, hopefully, um, you know, with you guys letting us come in.
- 4:09SPEAKER_00: I know that this is from what I understand, I mean, I've been a local in this community my whole life.
- 4:14SPEAKER_00: I grew up here.
- 4:15SPEAKER_00: Um, so this is actually really special for me.
- 4:18SPEAKER_00: Um, Ryan's kind of opened it up to members of the group to, hey, do you have anything in where you're from, your local areas, to try to bring in more clientele and get answers for people that maybe are looking rather than the large industrial places that we normally hit up.
- 4:34SPEAKER_01: Sure.
- 4:35SPEAKER_00: So uh thank you for inviting us in.
- 4:37SPEAKER_00: I'm hoping that maybe we'll get a little bit of um activity for you all, and maybe a couple answers, maybe some names, and then maybe if you guys can research a little more over the years or clientele come in and tell you some stories, maybe things will ping for you.
- 4:50SPEAKER_02: Well, we're thrilled to have you here.
- 4:52SPEAKER_02: We're excited to see what happens.
- 4:53SPEAKER_02: We have uh a lot of customers who are interested.
- 4:56SPEAKER_02: They want to know uh what's going on and what happens and what you find.
- 5:01SPEAKER_02: So, yeah.
- 5:01SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 5:02SPEAKER_00: Well, anything else you guys would like to say to the community or maybe for the podcast, what you're hoping uh maybe we pull for you here?
- 5:09SPEAKER_02: Um, I can't.
- 5:11SPEAKER_02: Invite everybody else to come out, come and visit us at Hunter's Tavern.
- 5:14SPEAKER_02: We'd love to see you.
- 5:15SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 5:16SPEAKER_00: Well, that was Mike and Patty here at Hunter's Tavern in Trumbull Township, Ohio.
- 5:20SPEAKER_00: Uh, where I do hear they have arguably the best trustee that has ever trusted ever in a township.
- 5:28SPEAKER_00: I've heard rumors of this.
- 5:29SPEAKER_02: Yes, that's true.
- 5:30SPEAKER_02: Was it was it no, it's not a rumor, it's true.
- 5:33SPEAKER_02: It's true.
- 5:33SPEAKER_02: What was his name?
- 5:34SPEAKER_00: I've heard Reed Reed.
- 5:37SPEAKER_00: That was it.
- 5:38SPEAKER_00: Mark Reed Reed.
- 5:39SPEAKER_00: That's the guy.
- 5:40SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah, interesting.
- 5:42SPEAKER_00: But, anyways, he's up for election in 2025.
- 5:45SPEAKER_00: So, just so we can put that out there.
- 5:47SPEAKER_00: All right, Hunter's Tavern, Mike and Patty, thank you for having us, and uh, we look forward to uh give you some information.
- 5:52SPEAKER_00: All right, wonderful.
- 5:53SPEAKER_00: All right, folks.
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: Thank you.
