- 0:12Speaker 1: Julius Jones, a single setback Matt Pumpfecks looking at the
- 0:14Speaker 1: goal line, he throws it into the end zone. Touchdown Seahawks.
- 0:18Speaker 1: It's Michael Bumpas with a diving catching the end zone
- 0:23Speaker 1: our ten yard touchdown reception for Puppas and the kid
- 0:26Speaker 1: out of Washington State has found himself a place on
- 0:29Speaker 1: this team. Powered by Seahawks dot Com. Welcome to Hawk
- 0:34Speaker 1: Talk Recap edition. The Seahawks lose to the Saints thirteen
- 0:38Speaker 1: to ten on Monday Night football. Lots of things to discuss,
- 0:41Speaker 1: and like we usually do, we're gonna go into trenches
- 0:43Speaker 1: with Ray Roberts to start this thing off. It's time
- 0:48Speaker 1: to go inside the trenches with former Seahawk Ray Roberts. Ray,
- 0:54Speaker 1: for the third time in three weeks, the Seahawks have
- 0:57Speaker 1: the ball late in the game to try to close
- 0:59Speaker 1: it out, but they just don't get it done. But
- 1:01Speaker 1: it's not always about the final moments. It's about the
- 1:04Speaker 1: moments that led up to that momentum, they were put
- 1:07Speaker 1: in a situation where they can win the game, just
- 1:09Speaker 1: come up short. Overall thoughts on last night's loss, Yeah,
- 1:13Speaker 1: it was, uh too bad that like a really good
- 1:17Speaker 1: effort by the defense, you know, like you know, allowing
- 1:19Speaker 1: you know, only thirteen points. Uh, you know still led
- 1:23Speaker 1: to the Seahawks to not getting it done in the end.
- 1:26Speaker 1: And there's a lot of places you can point the finger,
- 1:29Speaker 1: but there, you know, when I came home last night,
- 1:32Speaker 1: I've rethought, like, you know, what my thoughts were on
- 1:34Speaker 1: the game, and I still go back to there are
- 1:37Speaker 1: a lot of new pieces on this team on both
- 1:40Speaker 1: sides of the ball. There's a new offense. There's you
- 1:43Speaker 1: know playing around with you know, like a you know,
- 1:45Speaker 1: tweaking your defense a little bit with the different pieces
- 1:48Speaker 1: you have. Guys didn't get a whole lot of reps
- 1:50Speaker 1: in the preseason. Uh. And to me that that whole
- 1:56Speaker 1: ball of wax has to me added up to why
- 1:59Speaker 1: this team is where they are now. Ray they only
- 2:03Speaker 1: gave up thirteen points, and that's a feat in itself.
- 2:06Speaker 1: This defense has had its struggles. If we went to
- 2:09Speaker 1: this game and I say, ray Man has only gonna
- 2:11Speaker 1: give up thirteen points. I would assume that you would
- 2:14Speaker 1: think they won this football game, or would win this
- 2:16Speaker 1: football game. What's going on offense? How did they produce
- 2:19Speaker 1: more points? Yeah? So you know, I'm I'm with you.
- 2:23Speaker 1: I had predicted the Seahawks, you know, for for this game,
- 2:26Speaker 1: would win. I think I said twenty six to seventeen.
- 2:28Speaker 1: So I was pretty sure they were going to score
- 2:30Speaker 1: over twenty points. And the fact that they couldn't muster
- 2:34Speaker 1: that up was it was too bad. And honestly, I
- 2:36Speaker 1: love that this this uh this session here with you
- 2:41Speaker 1: is called in the trenches because to me, that's where
- 2:43Speaker 1: it alls. That's where it is. This offensive line. You know,
- 2:46Speaker 1: I've I've tried to uh my best to be positive
- 2:50Speaker 1: about the offensive line, and I think that they still
- 2:52Speaker 1: have some really good pieces up there, but they're just
- 2:55Speaker 1: not playing to their abilities, and they're they're not playing
- 2:58Speaker 1: as five as one as more as you know, five
- 3:01Speaker 1: individual parts on the offensive line. And not that that
- 3:05Speaker 1: means that they've been selfish, It's just that they don't
- 3:07Speaker 1: have the connectivity that it takes for them to be
- 3:10Speaker 1: a consistently you know, good offensive line to be able
- 3:14Speaker 1: to perform like they did in the second half against
- 3:16Speaker 1: the Pits first Steelers, And I think a lot of
- 3:19Speaker 1: that comes with the reps that they missed in the preseason,
- 3:22Speaker 1: a lot of it comes with learning the new offense.
- 3:24Speaker 1: A lot of it comes with the quarterback ben out,
- 3:27Speaker 1: with the top running back being out and not really
- 3:29Speaker 1: being able to create like some of that chemistry and
- 3:32Speaker 1: rhythm that you need. But if this team, this team
- 3:34Speaker 1: is going to only go as far as the offensive
- 3:37Speaker 1: line will take them, I don't care who is that quarterback,
- 3:40Speaker 1: and I don't care who is that running back. If
- 3:42Speaker 1: those dudes don't step up their game, the season is
- 3:45Speaker 1: going to continue to be long on offense. Well, speaking
- 3:48Speaker 1: of offensive line, you've got Alice Collins. We had sixteen
- 3:50Speaker 1: carries for thirty five yards. Do you put the lack
- 3:54Speaker 1: of production from Alice Collins on the offensive line or
- 3:57Speaker 1: did Alice Collins not see some gaps holes that could
- 4:01Speaker 1: have led to explosive runs. I think it's a combination
- 4:04Speaker 1: of both. I think the offensive line at times did
- 4:07Speaker 1: a really good job of like creating lanes, and I
- 4:10Speaker 1: think for the most part, Alex found those lanes. But
- 4:14Speaker 1: then it seems like for every four yard game they
- 4:17Speaker 1: would have, they'd have a negative yard game that followed
- 4:20Speaker 1: it up, and so they just negated any type of
- 4:23Speaker 1: progressive rhythm that you got. And then for a while
- 4:26Speaker 1: there there was you know, trying to get tenty some
- 4:28Speaker 1: reps as well as Um Collins. It's just it's, you know,
- 4:32Speaker 1: I think Turbo spoke to this. Sometimes there are dudes
- 4:35Speaker 1: that are just volume runners. They need to get those
- 4:38Speaker 1: nineteen twenty touches to get to the rhythm, to get
- 4:41Speaker 1: to the impact that they can have. And just given them,
- 4:43Speaker 1: you know, two or three carries here and then they're
- 4:46Speaker 1: out for a few plays and another two or three
- 4:48Speaker 1: carries there, it's kind of hard to get into rhythm
- 4:51Speaker 1: that way. And uh, and so I think it was
- 4:53Speaker 1: a little bit of both. I think there were some
- 4:55Speaker 1: some lanes there that he may have missed. But then
- 4:58Speaker 1: also I think that the the Saints did a great
- 5:01Speaker 1: job of really attacking the double teams in the zone runs.
- 5:04Speaker 1: So that means that you know, when the garden center
- 5:07Speaker 1: are blocking on the defensive tackle up to the middle linebacker,
- 5:10Speaker 1: that middle linebacker is doing a really good job of
- 5:12Speaker 1: attacking the double team to pull the second person in
- 5:16Speaker 1: on the double team out of the double team or
- 5:19Speaker 1: running right behind them and making a tackle. And so
- 5:21Speaker 1: there's a little bit lack of awareness on the offensive
- 5:24Speaker 1: line and then there's some just good linebacker play on
- 5:27Speaker 1: part of the Saint Yeah, and we got to remember
- 5:29Speaker 1: that the Saints are number two in the league against
- 5:31Speaker 1: the run, only given up about eighty yards hogs rush
- 5:34Speaker 1: for ninety. That's plus ten. I guess there's a positive there,
- 5:37Speaker 1: all right. Now, these guys are two and five, They
- 5:40Speaker 1: got the Jaguars next week. How do they bounce back
- 5:44Speaker 1: against this team? Well, you know the two things that
- 5:47Speaker 1: Pete Carroll said and the press conference that I really
- 5:49Speaker 1: just you know, I have my little notepad right there
- 5:52Speaker 1: and I'm taking notes, and he said, we have to
- 5:54Speaker 1: do it, do the things right, and we have to
- 5:57Speaker 1: finish right. And so it became great to just gut
- 6:01Speaker 1: out a win um and just get a win for
- 6:03Speaker 1: the sake of winning, whether it's pretty or ugly a
- 6:05Speaker 1: haverid is. But it's also going to be good to
- 6:08Speaker 1: have them win the right way because that's what helps
- 6:11Speaker 1: carry the momentum and the and the the rhythm to
- 6:15Speaker 1: the to the next game, is that you know that
- 6:17Speaker 1: you did It's the right way, that you finished strong,
- 6:19Speaker 1: that you finished drives, that you you weren't giving up sack,
- 6:22Speaker 1: that you weren't giving up easy uh first downs, that
- 6:25Speaker 1: you're like, the defense needs to win on first and
- 6:28Speaker 1: second down because the Saint's got too many third in
- 6:30Speaker 1: shorts and or these enfortune shorts, so they weren't getting
- 6:33Speaker 1: the third down. So I think they, you know, win
- 6:36Speaker 1: in the right way and finishing the right way. It's
- 6:38Speaker 1: going to be important because the other thing is that
- 6:40Speaker 1: you know, people will say, man, that the Jaguars suck,
- 6:43Speaker 1: but I guarantee you that they're looking at the seahalls
- 6:45Speaker 1: going like, man, this is a game we can win.
- 6:47Speaker 1: And so so as much as we'd like to say
- 6:51Speaker 1: like uh, you know, like oh man that you know,
- 6:53Speaker 1: even though the Jaguars have two wins that are still
- 6:55Speaker 1: a bad team, that's the Jaguars looking at the sealls
- 6:58Speaker 1: going like, man, this is not the sealls was old
- 7:00Speaker 1: of old, and this is this is not a good team.
- 7:03Speaker 1: This is this is a game that we can go
- 7:05Speaker 1: and win. I guarantee you they're having that conversation in
- 7:08Speaker 1: their locker rooms and their media with their I mean um,
- 7:11Speaker 1: in their meetings with the media. When player interviews, they
- 7:15Speaker 1: are thinking that this is a game that they could
- 7:17Speaker 1: and should win. Yeah, you got some dudes who are
- 7:20Speaker 1: fighting for their NFL lives right now about to battle
- 7:23Speaker 1: out next week. Big Ray as always appreciate your time, Bro,
- 7:27Speaker 1: Thanks for having me. Bro. All right, that was Ray Roberts.
- 7:30Speaker 1: Let's bring in NASA Choby and talk about what happened.
- 7:32Speaker 1: See what happened at first? What had happened was unhawked.
- 7:41Speaker 1: What had happened? Man, We are unfortunately getting a little
- 7:45Speaker 1: too comfortable having these conversations. It's been three weeks in
- 7:48Speaker 1: a row, three straight primetime games, three straight primetime losses
- 7:52Speaker 1: for the Seattle Seahawks, and it's a situation where they've
- 7:55Speaker 1: usually thrived in. You know, game on the line, two minutes,
- 7:58Speaker 1: you got the ball, you have a chance to win. Obviously,
- 7:59Speaker 1: we know all the fourth quarter comebacks and everything. Russell
- 8:01Speaker 1: Wilson has been able to do it throughout his career. Unfortunately,
- 8:04Speaker 1: Number three was not walking through that door, or at
- 8:06Speaker 1: least getting on the field on Monday night. You know,
- 8:10Speaker 1: at the last three weeks in a row, Man, you
- 8:11Speaker 1: had a chance to win or tie the game late
- 8:13Speaker 1: and you came up short. Tyler Lockett got tripped up
- 8:16Speaker 1: on a pass against the Rams. It gets intercepted. Last week,
- 8:19Speaker 1: Geno Smith fumbles in the second overtime possession on the
- 8:22Speaker 1: first play last night. You get the ball back, you're
- 8:26Speaker 1: down three, and unfortunately you could give up two straight
- 8:28Speaker 1: sacks and you come up third and twenty eight or
- 8:31Speaker 1: something and fourth in a mile, and obviously it's tough
- 8:34Speaker 1: to convert that. And then see how it's unable to
- 8:36Speaker 1: really get anything going. Things got off great when it started.
- 8:39Speaker 1: Eighty four yard touchdown DK Metcalf. It's a raining, it's
- 8:43Speaker 1: a windstorm. That's what you wanted to see. You take
- 8:45Speaker 1: a lead, then you think you can sold the game down,
- 8:47Speaker 1: run the football and keep you know, driving like you
- 8:50Speaker 1: did last week. But unfortunately that wasn't the case. If
- 8:52Speaker 1: you want to look at their drive chart after that
- 8:54Speaker 1: DK Metcalf touch him, it went punt, punt, punt, end
- 8:57Speaker 1: of half, missfield goal, punt, field goal, missfield goal, turnover
- 9:02Speaker 1: and downs, and you just couldn't ever get anything really
- 9:04Speaker 1: going offensively. There's no rhythm after that touchdown drive. You
- 9:09Speaker 1: really only had two drives where they're able to move
- 9:10Speaker 1: the ball at all. But Unfortunately both those drives and
- 9:13Speaker 1: in a missfield goal, and it just man, when it rains,
- 9:16Speaker 1: it pours. You know, Jason Meyers had thirty five straight
- 9:19Speaker 1: you know, it was like fourth all time in field goals,
- 9:22Speaker 1: and it's a tough day and he misses two field
- 9:24Speaker 1: goals that are the difference in the game. You know,
- 9:26Speaker 1: Alex Collins had sixteen carries but only thirty five yards.
- 9:29Speaker 1: Chad Penny came back only had nine yards on like
- 9:33Speaker 1: six carry, so bump. It's it's tough sledding right now
- 9:36Speaker 1: for the Seahawks. You know they've they've been close, but
- 9:39Speaker 1: there's no moral victories in the NFL close with no cigar,
- 9:41Speaker 1: and it's just it's frustrating. I know everyone this building's frustrated.
- 9:44Speaker 1: I know this team has way more talent than you know,
- 9:47Speaker 1: the two and five record shows, but it kind of
- 9:49Speaker 1: is what it is, and that's where they are right now. Yeah,
- 9:51Speaker 1: and there were two opportunities to one get off to
- 9:54Speaker 1: fill with Marquis Blair rough in the past or I
- 9:56Speaker 1: believe it was thirty nine he launched himself to Jamens Winston.
- 10:00Speaker 1: I look at that play and I'm like, yeah, the
- 10:01Speaker 1: rule says you can't do that. But it's frustrating at
- 10:03Speaker 1: the same time because I'm like, look, this is football.
- 10:05Speaker 1: There's also abiality where al Woods jumps off size on
- 10:08Speaker 1: the field goal, they get a fresh shet of downs,
- 10:10Speaker 1: they end up kicking a field goal. So it didn't
- 10:12Speaker 1: really I guess it didn't really affect the game because
- 10:14Speaker 1: I feel like they would have made that field goal anyway,
- 10:15Speaker 1: but a deeper field goal would have been better than
- 10:19Speaker 1: the hawksday battle back. Man. I mean for the thirst
- 10:21Speaker 1: strade week. You mentioned you got a chance to win
- 10:23Speaker 1: the football game and you just don't get it done.
- 10:25Speaker 1: Gino Smith during this press conference says, look, you can't
- 10:27Speaker 1: take those sacks. That's the worst thing you can do.
- 10:29Speaker 1: When you're backed up. They only got one time out
- 10:32Speaker 1: and you're driving to win a football game. You cannot
- 10:35Speaker 1: take unnecessary sex. Now the Hawks are two and five,
- 10:39Speaker 1: drop three in a row, first time since twenty eleven.
- 10:42Speaker 1: There's still hope. Statistically they can still do some things.
- 10:46Speaker 1: They've put themselves in a whole dug a hole, but
- 10:49Speaker 1: it's all about how you respond. These next couple of
- 10:51Speaker 1: weeks are going to be extremely important. Even though they
- 10:53Speaker 1: did lose this ball game. There are still some playmakers.
- 10:55Speaker 1: Just take a look at them. Playmakers. O well, bump,
- 11:07Speaker 1: there was some playmakers last Monday night. You know, there
- 11:11Speaker 1: wasn't a ton of unbelievable individual performances. But like we
- 11:16Speaker 1: we'll mention the defense here in a second, but we'll
- 11:18Speaker 1: get to start with Gino Smith. Gino Smith twelve of
- 11:21Speaker 1: twenty two, one hundred and sixty seven yards, one touchdown,
- 11:24Speaker 1: QB rating of ninety four point three. UM. The best
- 11:27Speaker 1: thing Gino did after getting going up top the DK
- 11:29Speaker 1: metcalf is he took care of the football. UM. No turnovers,
- 11:32Speaker 1: which was impressive for him. You know, he had two
- 11:34Speaker 1: big turnovers last two weeks, so that was a nice
- 11:36Speaker 1: thing there. It was just it was tough man Offensively,
- 11:40Speaker 1: it was tough. He did a good job managing the game,
- 11:43Speaker 1: made a couple of plays with his feet, scrambled, got
- 11:46Speaker 1: us into almost red zone area and that's when unfortunately
- 11:50Speaker 1: we just took some sacks we couldn't take. So it's
- 11:51Speaker 1: a team effort. That's not all on Gino. The offensive
- 11:53Speaker 1: line needs to protect better, whether it's running backs and coverage,
- 11:56Speaker 1: all all the above. But Geno Smith again his stepped
- 12:00Speaker 1: in and done a great job for He's not Russell Wilson.
- 12:02Speaker 1: That's just that is what it is. Russell is a
- 12:05Speaker 1: modified Hall of Famer. We know that, we now especially
- 12:07Speaker 1: is that's why he gets paid what he does, and
- 12:09Speaker 1: it's really shown the last couple of weeks. But Gino,
- 12:11Speaker 1: Gino's done his thing. Man, He's kept the Seahawks end games.
- 12:14Speaker 1: And that's all you can ask for is give your
- 12:16Speaker 1: team a chance to win, and Gino did that. Yesterday.
- 12:19Speaker 1: Another playmaker, DK Metcalf two receptions for ninety six yards
- 12:22Speaker 1: and one touchdown. Second drive of the game, has an
- 12:25Speaker 1: eighty four yard reception, scores a touchdown. We're feeling good
- 12:29Speaker 1: about ourselves. Were like, it's going to be a big day.
- 12:31Speaker 1: Than he has one more catch after that. I think
- 12:33Speaker 1: another thing that he did well was just the mind games.
- 12:36Speaker 1: He was playing with Marshawn Lattimore getting into his head.
- 12:38Speaker 1: So he probably gained what about thirty yards on penalties
- 12:41Speaker 1: because he was getting under these guys skin, making them
- 12:44Speaker 1: lose their cool. DK didn't have lots of opportunities to
- 12:48Speaker 1: do things, but when given the opportunity, he did so.
- 12:51Speaker 1: Man eighty four yards I was an impressive touchdown. He
- 12:53Speaker 1: looked fast, he looked strong. I hope we see more
- 12:56Speaker 1: of that in the next few weeks. Yeah, and we
- 12:58Speaker 1: talked about this a little bit on the postgame show.
- 12:59Speaker 1: But you know, DK Metcalf, he is a physical dude. Obviously,
- 13:03Speaker 1: we know he can run by you. And Lattimore's talking
- 13:06Speaker 1: and I know there's a lot of comments coming out
- 13:08Speaker 1: of the Saints locker room and kind of essentially questioning
- 13:11Speaker 1: the Seahawks toughness and who's a real tough guy, who's not.
- 13:14Speaker 1: All I know is first play of the game, Dk
- 13:16Speaker 1: Metcalfkin's up a running the ball. Boom, I'm putting you
- 13:18Speaker 1: on your butt. Lattimore put him in the ground. They
- 13:20Speaker 1: went back and forth. He beat Lattimore for a touchdown.
- 13:24Speaker 1: You draw thirty yards of penalties that you just mentioned,
- 13:26Speaker 1: you might have to add that to his receiving total.
- 13:28Speaker 1: So Dk Metcalf, I love that he can set the
- 13:30Speaker 1: tone and if you're a defensive backman, you better bring
- 13:32Speaker 1: it because I don't care if it's in the past
- 13:34Speaker 1: game or the run game. DC's gonna block ye field.
- 13:36Speaker 1: He's gonna getting your mug. He's gonna he's gonna draw penalties.
- 13:39Speaker 1: He's just I love the toughness out of him. So
- 13:41Speaker 1: great to see him, you know, be one of the
- 13:44Speaker 1: few guys that was really getting things going offensively. Now.
- 13:48Speaker 1: Defense put in their best performance of the entire season
- 13:52Speaker 1: yesterday only gave up thirteen points, a season low three
- 13:55Speaker 1: hundred and four yards in bump. I couldn't. I couldn't
- 13:59Speaker 1: I slate one, dude. It was hard for me because
- 14:02Speaker 1: it was a collective unit, even if everyone didn't blow
- 14:06Speaker 1: up in the stack category. Bobby Wagner led the team
- 14:08Speaker 1: with seven tackles, had a big stop on third and one.
- 14:11Speaker 1: Una Ford did a great job in the interior, his
- 14:13Speaker 1: best game in the season by far, six tackles, one TfL.
- 14:16Speaker 1: Quandri Diggs had five tackles. Carlos Dunlap he had five
- 14:19Speaker 1: tackles and half sackles, a lot more active than he's
- 14:22Speaker 1: been all years. So there was a ton of guys
- 14:23Speaker 1: that were contributing. And even if it was one play here,
- 14:26Speaker 1: one play there, they made enough plays that kept the
- 14:28Speaker 1: Seahawks in the game, especially when the Seahawks were not
- 14:31Speaker 1: moving the ball offense. Least there wasn't There's essentially zero
- 14:34Speaker 1: margin for error, so it's good to see some of
- 14:35Speaker 1: those guys step up yesterday. Yeah, it was nice for
- 14:38Speaker 1: the defense to put together performance. I feel like every
- 14:41Speaker 1: unit that's taken his turn kind of shining now is
- 14:43Speaker 1: about putting it all together. When you see names like
- 14:46Speaker 1: Google Body, Puna four, Rashim Green on the stat sheet,
- 14:49Speaker 1: these guys impacted the game, you know you're moving in
- 14:51Speaker 1: the right direction. Jordan Brooks four tackles, one past offended.
- 14:54Speaker 1: I mean, those are the young guys that you're gonna
- 14:56Speaker 1: lean on as the season goes along, as the years
- 14:58Speaker 1: go along. Nice to see those guys step up and perform.
- 15:02Speaker 1: Wide receiver round up mitcha DK two receptions, ninety six
- 15:05Speaker 1: yards and a touchdown. Freddy Swayne had four for thirty nine.
- 15:08Speaker 1: Tyler Lockett only two for twelve. I think for this
- 15:10Speaker 1: team to go sixteen needs to be more involved. Jerald
- 15:12Speaker 1: Every three for eleven, Alas Collins one for nine and
- 15:15Speaker 1: Penny Hard did not have a catch on one target. Okay,
- 15:18Speaker 1: we're gonna go to the coach's corner. We're gonna break
- 15:20Speaker 1: down the biggest play of the night, eighty four yard
- 15:22Speaker 1: touchdown reception from Gino to DK. Play fake this time,
- 15:27Speaker 1: he's gonna let it fly down. Feel reaching I'm making
- 15:30Speaker 1: a catch. This back cap peak A go forty thirty
- 15:34Speaker 1: twenty ten five touchdown, Stay Hawks eighty four yards. A
- 15:41Speaker 1: defender foul down and Geno Smith froud shot to number
- 15:46Speaker 1: fourteen down the right sidelines. He jumps, makes a catch.
- 15:51Speaker 1: Nobody is hearing, and he was off to the races
- 15:54Speaker 1: like the Olympic sprint trials. He's downfield, beating Lantimore for six,
- 16:00Speaker 1: the Seattle Seahawks on top six nothing. Yeah, this is
- 16:05Speaker 1: just big boy football right here. Deca does a great job.
- 16:08Speaker 1: He's one on one with a Lattimore gets outside, gets
- 16:10Speaker 1: an outside release on him. Alattimore tries to disrupt him,
- 16:13Speaker 1: put hands on him and kind of reroute him. But
- 16:15Speaker 1: DK is just too strong. And what's even more impressive,
- 16:18Speaker 1: man's the throw. You know there's a window between that
- 16:21Speaker 1: corner and the safety. It's about eight to ten yards staff.
- 16:24Speaker 1: If you don't put this thing in a rope on
- 16:26Speaker 1: a line light Gino did. The safety comes over and
- 16:28Speaker 1: he really affects his play. But k does a great
- 16:31Speaker 1: job of getting outside, leaving a little bit of space
- 16:34Speaker 1: on the sideline and Gino to stows it on the line.
- 16:36Speaker 1: Hits the honey hoole is what I like to call it,
- 16:38Speaker 1: in between the safety and the corner. Then the rest
- 16:41Speaker 1: is his DK being too fast and too strong. Way
- 16:44Speaker 1: to start off the game for the Hawks. Yeah, you
- 16:47Speaker 1: mentioned a DK Metcalf. Great job and the thing what
- 16:49Speaker 1: I love I think there's talked about everyone on the
- 16:51Speaker 1: same sideline is like calling for past interference. But you
- 16:54Speaker 1: gotta look at the play. Alttimore is right in his
- 16:57Speaker 1: bill too. Right before he loses his footing, they're both
- 16:59Speaker 1: hand fighting. Lattimore is doing he's supposed to do, punches
- 17:02Speaker 1: that shoulder and then DK pushes back and then he
- 17:05Speaker 1: just loses footing. You gotta be an athlete that situation. Obviously,
- 17:08Speaker 1: Mark Lattimore is an amazing corner. I'm not saying it's
- 17:10Speaker 1: not an athlete, but in that situation, it's just hand fighting.
- 17:13Speaker 1: Unfortunately he falls down. DK Matcalf makes a great play,
- 17:16Speaker 1: and then if you're on the Saints, the safety just
- 17:19Speaker 1: kills you with the angle. I know it's a tough
- 17:21Speaker 1: a lot of ground to cover because Geno Smith recognizes
- 17:24Speaker 1: that Malcolm Jenkins, the safety on the boundary side, is
- 17:27Speaker 1: coming down, so that means it's gonna be one on
- 17:29Speaker 1: one coverage and the safety comes over and just doesn't
- 17:32Speaker 1: take a great angle and then goes low and DK
- 17:34Speaker 1: Metcalf that's not gonna work. And then DK Metcalf just
- 17:37Speaker 1: shows all that track speed man. When you see people running,
- 17:40Speaker 1: sometimes you're like, Okay, he's moving. When you see DK moving,
- 17:43Speaker 1: you're like, damn, that man could be in the Olympics,
- 17:45Speaker 1: like he track speed. Love to see it. Unfortunately it
- 17:49Speaker 1: was the only touchdown of the day, but it was
- 17:50Speaker 1: a huge play to get the game going and which
- 17:53Speaker 1: you thought was going to be a great start for
- 17:54Speaker 1: Geno Smith and the rest of the offense. But there's
- 17:56Speaker 1: big playability. We've seen it. We see us need to
- 17:58Speaker 1: make more plays and take mantage of it as they
- 18:00Speaker 1: continue moving forward this year. Need more plays just like that,
- 18:05Speaker 1: all right, Thorry a week in a row, no Brik
- 18:07Speaker 1: deformation clock ran out on us an taken the fine
- 18:14Speaker 1: hundly They're just gonna let the clock wind down, but
- 18:16Speaker 1: it's not even gonna bother taking that last time out up.
- 18:21Speaker 1: This feels like it kind of sound like a broken
- 18:24Speaker 1: record the last couple of weeks. Unfortunately, same same story,
- 18:27Speaker 1: different weeks. Seahawks had a chance to win or tie
- 18:29Speaker 1: the game on offense with the office on the field,
- 18:32Speaker 1: just came up short. Bathing stood out. The Seahawks just
- 18:35Speaker 1: really weren't able to run the football like to be
- 18:37Speaker 1: against Pittsburgh. You know, they definitely tried, So there's it's
- 18:40Speaker 1: weird when you hear all the criticism. People were mad
- 18:42Speaker 1: at them for not running the football and then mad
- 18:44Speaker 1: at them when they do. They committed to it. They
- 18:46Speaker 1: just unfortunately weren't able to get things going in the
- 18:48Speaker 1: run game. The Saints were the number two ranked rushed
- 18:51Speaker 1: defense coming into the game. That's a great unit, that's
- 18:53Speaker 1: what they do, and unfortunately the Seahawks weren't really able
- 18:56Speaker 1: to get in a rhythm with any of the running backs.
- 18:58Speaker 1: And unfortunately that definitely hurt him. And it also hurts
- 19:01Speaker 1: when you go three or twelve on third down bomb
- 19:03Speaker 1: it's hard to get anything going offensively when you're doing that.
- 19:06Speaker 1: Three of twelve and third is never good. They couldn't
- 19:08Speaker 1: take advantage of turnovers and had crucial sacks at the
- 19:11Speaker 1: wrong time. Myers missus two field goals on defense. They
- 19:14Speaker 1: played their best game, however, on the Saints game winning
- 19:17Speaker 1: field goal drive. The Seahawks Blue two prime opportunities to
- 19:21Speaker 1: get off the football field. It's all about inches, right,
- 19:24Speaker 1: you say this game is all about inches. Man, There
- 19:26Speaker 1: are always four to six players that define this game.
- 19:29Speaker 1: I think for the Seahawks it's timely penalties and not
- 19:32Speaker 1: taking advantage of opportunities to get points. Yeah. No, you
- 19:38Speaker 1: especially right now with Russell not playing, with Chris Carson
- 19:41Speaker 1: not playing. Banged up, you didn't have Damian Lewis, you
- 19:43Speaker 1: don't have Darryl Taylor. You're still waiting for Estra to
- 19:45Speaker 1: come back. When you're when you're banged up and you're
- 19:47Speaker 1: in those situations, you have to take advantage of opportunities.
- 19:51Speaker 1: You have to. Unfortunately, in the game, I should mention
- 19:54Speaker 1: Marquis Blair hurt his patel I believe, or his kneecap.
- 19:58Speaker 1: There's something going on there. So he's gonna get that.
- 20:00Speaker 1: And it was significant, is what Pete said after the game.
- 20:02Speaker 1: So hopefully Marquis isn't out for too long. And like
- 20:06Speaker 1: we mentioned, you had to spade all that just down
- 20:08Speaker 1: three points. The sacks ended the game. The Seahawks are
- 20:11Speaker 1: the crossroads right now, Bump. They're sitting a two and five.
- 20:13Speaker 1: They're gonna need to go on a run right now
- 20:15Speaker 1: if they want to make the playoffs. But the one
- 20:17Speaker 1: good thing I'll leave everybody with is they're not that
- 20:21Speaker 1: far out of it. There's only six teams in the
- 20:24Speaker 1: NFC that have more than three wins, you know, So
- 20:28Speaker 1: there are a couple of games out and they're gonna
- 20:30Speaker 1: have to do some things right. They're gonna have to
- 20:31Speaker 1: start winning games and put things together. Hopefully Russell Wilson
- 20:34Speaker 1: can come back. But with that added playoffs spot, they're
- 20:37Speaker 1: not completely out of it. But with that said, you
- 20:40Speaker 1: can't keep losing games. You need to be Jacksonville. You
- 20:43Speaker 1: absolutely have to be Jacksonville. And then you got a
- 20:45Speaker 1: tough two games after that because you a bye week.
- 20:48Speaker 1: Green Bay, Arizona to really good football teams in the NFC,
- 20:50Speaker 1: and hopefully number three is at quarterback. All I'm telling
- 20:54Speaker 1: y'all is I'm saying there's a chance. There is a
- 20:58Speaker 1: chance they gotta get right star with the Jacksonville Jaguar
- 21:01Speaker 1: has been a tough couple of games for Geno and
- 21:03Speaker 1: the guys, but you never know, this is the NFL.
- 21:06Speaker 1: You keep fighting, good things can happen. The Seahawks lose
- 21:09Speaker 1: to the Saints thirteen to ten on Monday Night Football.
- 21:12Speaker 1: That has been the Hawk Talk Recap edition. I'm Michael Bobbins.
- 21:15Speaker 1: He has now asked Choby talked you guys soon
