- 0:00Speaker 1: What's up, everyone, and welcome to another episode of the
- 0:03Epstein Chronicles. In this episode, we're gonna get right back
- 0:06to the Leslie Groff transcript from her meeting with Congress.
- 0:11Mister Timmins is asking the questions question. Okay, so let's
- 0:15talk about flights and hotels. No, let's go to hair appointments.
- 0:19As part of your employment. Were you allowed to get
- 0:22your hair done at a fancy day spot, miss Groff?
- 0:25I did every so often, Timmins. Okay, is it fokai Groff? Yes, Timmins,
- 0:31but only two of the seven? Were three of the
- 0:33seven were allowed to get their hair appointments done without
- 0:36his specific approval. There's an email I can get it
- 0:38for you, Groff. Okay, Timmins. So why would do you
- 0:43have it? Why would you control whether his assistance got
- 0:46access to hair appointments? Groff? I didn't control one of
- 0:49his assistants. Timmins. There's an email with you and redacted,
- 0:53and you say in your email it says Jeffrey says
- 0:55that me and two of the seven survivors are authorized
- 0:58to make our own appointments. Is that not strange? Mister
- 1:02Wickham jumps in, sir, she wasn't even able to answer
- 1:05your last question, so you just have to let her
- 1:07answer the question. Please, Emmer. At this time, I would
- 1:11like to introduce what will be marked as majority Exhibit
- 1:14number eight. Mister Whitcomb. She's happy to answer your questions.
- 1:19You've got to let her finish respectively. Emmer will give
- 1:22you a moment to review the document. Timmins, So the
- 1:25king giveth and the King taketh away. So if you
- 1:29don't do what he says, if you don't act right,
- 1:31if you don't smile, if you don't cooperate with every
- 1:33single one of his requests, then you lose things. You
- 1:36could lose access to your computer or your phone, you
- 1:39could lose access to getting your hair appointments. It's just
- 1:42difficult that all of this was going on and that
- 1:45you were in the middle of it and you didn't
- 1:47see it. Backner see what the hair appointments. Timmins didn't
- 1:51see the way that he was using all these different
- 1:53levels of control to engage in sex trafficking. And the
- 1:57seven survivors as they entered your office who were going
- 2:00to be sexually assaulted Bocknerts, So I don't Timmins cuts
- 2:05them off. You didn't know until he got arrested, Grof.
- 2:08Everyone was very very happy. No one ever came to
- 2:10me and showed me any duress said that they were unhappy.
- 2:14From my perspective, it seemed like everyone was really happy
- 2:17to be there. No one ever said anything to me
- 2:19that they were unhappy or being abused. Question by Timmins.
- 2:24Did you ever suspect that the seven survivors were engaging
- 2:27in sexual activity with Jeffrey Epstein? Groff? No, Timmins, your
- 2:32job requires you to be very perceptive. What percent of
- 2:35these women entered your office, waited for however long, went
- 2:39back for however long, and left looking different than when
- 2:42they came in. Groff, I'm sorry about getting the haircut,
- 2:46or Timmins, you would notice if I had wet if
- 2:49I had wet hair, or if I had no hair,
- 2:51because I have no hair. But if you came into
- 2:53my office and went into somebody else's office and came
- 2:56out a half hour later with wet hair, I would go,
- 2:59what the hell do you happened? Graff? I didn't see
- 3:02anybody with wet hair. This was a professional office, professional area.
- 3:06I didn't see anything inappropriate. People went and got their
- 3:10haircut and would come back. Timmins. The seven survivors will
- 3:14testify eventually that about one third of the time they
- 3:17would go back, the assault was so bad that they
- 3:20would have to take a shower or clean off. So
- 3:23the fact that you never saw any of them leave
- 3:24with wet hair is somewhat surprising. Graf. I don't recall
- 3:28seeing anyone with wet hair leaving the office his home. Timmins,
- 3:33All right, let's talk about immigration. Are you aware that
- 3:35mister Epstein used immigration as a tool of control for
- 3:38the victims? Miss Groff? No, Timmins, did you ever engage
- 3:42in any effort to facilitate citizenship applications for any of
- 3:47the seven survivors? Miss Groff? The only thing that I
- 3:50did was help with travel, and that was per directed.
- 3:55And it seemed to me that anybody that was asked
- 3:57that I was booking for travel for wanted this to happen.
- 4:00There was no signs to me that they did not
- 4:02want to be there. No one said anything to me,
- 4:05mister Bauckner, and just for and just in all fairness,
- 4:09we don't know the identity of these seven survivors. She
- 4:12may be able to surmise, but we're kind of answering
- 4:15questions without knowing the identity Timmins redacted or redacted or
- 4:19redacted or redacted, redacted or redacted or redacted. I imagine you
- 4:23know who they are, Miss Groff. I recognize those names, Timmins.
- 4:28If we were to believe you that you had no
- 4:30knowledge of any of this, let's turn to those people
- 4:32that just had to have some Indke and Cohn were
- 4:36central to the money and the legal hula hoops it
- 4:39had to go through in order to pull this off.
- 4:41Do you think it's possible that would it surprise you
- 4:43to know that without their knowledge, Epstein and Endyke use
- 4:46their social security numbers of the seven survivors to create businesses,
- 4:50take out loans, and create lines of credit in an
- 4:53effort to trap them in a maze of financial insolvency.
- 4:57Miss Groff, I don't think that anybody did any thing
- 5:00wrong without mister Epstein's directive. He was very, very controlling.
- 5:04I don't know. I don't know about any of that question.
- 5:07But if he directed you, he directed you to schedule
- 5:10a massage with the twelve year old, you would say no, Graf,
- 5:13I would say no, absolutely, one hundred percent question. Okay,
- 5:17So if he directed in Dyke to pull a line
- 5:18of credit and create a business without the knowledge of
- 5:21one of his other alleged assistants, I mean, you have
- 5:24fiduciary obligations to the person you're engaging with. So it
- 5:28would actually be legal for someone to take out a
- 5:30line of credit or create a business, or take out
- 5:33a credit card in someone's name that is not the
- 5:35individual or is that just a gray area? Backner? Are
- 5:40you asking if she's aware if he was doing that, Timmins,
- 5:43is that something that he should not do? Graff? I
- 5:46think that, yeah, I don't think that. That's nothing that
- 5:49I know about. I'm unaware of any lines of credit
- 5:51or anything like that being taken out. You know, LLC's
- 5:54whatever you said, Timmins. Can you appreciate all of the
- 5:58different levels of control that he created to put these
- 6:00women into this situation? Groff? I didn't I knew gets
- 6:05cut off by Timmins. Do you understand now? Do you
- 6:08understand now, Groff? In hindsight, I can step back and
- 6:13I can see how that how that could have been
- 6:15wanted it to be like that. At the time, I
- 6:17thought it was things that these cut off by backner.
- 6:21He's asking you, now, do you see how he could
- 6:23have done that? Now, Groff, Yeah, I could see stepping
- 6:26back and seeing how, like you said, monitoring them, but
- 6:29not back then, not back then, Timmins. So I've talked
- 6:33to three of the victims, and every time their name
- 6:36is on an appointment with blank, they said about ninety
- 6:38eight percent they were sexually assaulted and raped and they
- 6:42felt trapped. And I guess you are to have us
- 6:45believe that that was completely oblivious to you. I don't
- 6:49have any more questions, thank you. Now, Miss Toland is
- 6:52asking questions, and just to turn back to Exhibit eight
- 6:56for a few more questions. This email is bait stamped
- 6:59EFTA zero two two four eight four to three zero.
- 7:03The bottom email appears to be an email written by you,
- 7:06Ms Groff to Jeffrey Epstein. Did you schedule hair appointments
- 7:10for women associated with mister Epstein at mister Fochaie Salon
- 7:14Answer yes. Question why were you the one scheduling them?
- 7:19Answer because I was mister Epstein's secretary and he would
- 7:22direct me to make appointments. Question and what was the
- 7:25arrangement between mister Fokai and mister Epstein for his hair appointments. Answer.
- 7:30I believe that mister Epstein had an account there, so
- 7:32whenever somebody went, the appointment would just be paid with
- 7:35their credit card on the account, Miss Brignac. And who
- 7:39are the women that were receiving haircuts? Miss Groff? Definitely
- 7:43the traveling assistance, but he could send other friends, I
- 7:46suppose at times. Question and in this email you state
- 7:50I want to make sure it's okay with you for
- 7:51the girls to make their own appointments at FACAI. Do
- 7:54they have your permission? Why did they need mister Epstein's
- 7:58permission to go? Answer? Because it was his money that
- 8:01they were using and Frederick Focai hair appointments are expensive.
- 8:05Question and why did mister Epstein We've heard from numerous
- 8:08people that mister Epstein dictated the style, color, everything about
- 8:12the haircut that they'd receive. Do you know why he
- 8:15would do that? Answer? I did not know at the time.
- 8:19Since we've been prepping for this testimony, I have learned
- 8:22that was something that he did, but I didn't know
- 8:24at the time. Question, And you're aware of any instances
- 8:28or did you any women came to you with any
- 8:30allegations about mister Fokai abusing a young woman or a girl.
- 8:34Answer no, mister Emmer, We've had another staff member join.
- 8:38Can he please identify himself for the record. Ryan Giecketty,
- 8:42chief counsel for Chairman Comer nice Italian name. Question did
- 8:47you ever schedule medical appointments for any women associated with
- 8:51mister Epstein? Answer? Not that I can recall offhand. Question. Now,
- 8:55I'm going to introduce majority exhibit number nine. This is
- 8:58a chain of emails between you, you, Ms Groff and Jeffrey Epstein.
- 9:02The email is dated April seventh, twenty fourteen, and is
- 9:07bate stamped EFTA zero one nine two eight seven seven three,
- 9:12Miss Toland, I'll give you a moment to review the email. Question.
- 9:16So in the email, you're right at the top. One
- 9:18of the doctors Eva gave us could give a partial
- 9:20exam to redact to this Saturday, April twelfth. He said
- 9:24he could probably be available from one to four pm.
- 9:27And it continues on. Doctor Neil Voros says it's too
- 9:31much to do in one day for an entire exam.
- 9:34He's concerned that she speaks Polish as a first language.
- 9:37How fluent is redacted? In English. I keep being asked this.
- 9:41It continues on, but that is probably all we need
- 9:44for the purpose of the question. Do you recall sending
- 9:46this email? Answer? I do not recall that email. Question
- 9:50do you know the type of exam you were booking
- 9:53for what appears to be a Polish speaking woman? Answer?
- 9:56I believe she's taking some sort of written exam. I
- 9:59don't know to be a doctor or nurse. It's an
- 10:01exam that this person wants to take. Question Doctor Neil
- 10:05Voris is a registered clinical psychologist. Do you know if
- 10:09this was for any kind of psychological evaluation? Answer? Oh,
- 10:14I don't know. Question was mister Epstein paying for this
- 10:17test or appointment? Answer? I don't recall the email, so
- 10:20it's hard for me to say. Mister Epstein did pay
- 10:22for a lot of people to, you know, go to school.
- 10:25Question and do you know if this appointment was for
- 10:28the purpose of placing this woman on any kind of medication? Answer?
- 10:32I have no idea. Question And with scheduling medical appointments
- 10:36or anything of this kind common practice in your role
- 10:39as mister Epstein's secretary, Answer common practice? No question do
- 10:44you now frequently you might have scheduled appointments like this
- 10:47for other women. Answer, I don't recall ever, I don't
- 10:50ever recall making this appointment. I don't know, Brignac. You
- 10:54just testified that he paid for things frequently, like school.
- 10:57So is this a unique circumstance, Groff, A unique circumstance. Yeah,
- 11:02I don't recall this. She wants to go take an exam.
- 11:05I didn't know what kind of exam. But he paid
- 11:07for people to go to school, Brignac. But you never
- 11:11questioned why you'd be paying for this person's medical appointment, Groff,
- 11:14I didn't know it was a medical appointment. Tolan. Neil
- 11:17Voris is a registered psychologist who we understand him to be,
- 11:21so it appears that she's taking some kind of psychological
- 11:24evaluation or something of the sort. Graf. I don't know.
- 11:28I didn't know. I don't know what kind of doctor,
- 11:30doctor Neil Voris is. It was someone that Eva Jeffrey's friend,
- 11:34mister Epstein's friend, Brignac ms. Groff. Can you explain what
- 11:39you meant? But he does not do this kind of
- 11:42testing in his clinic, Graf, I don't know. I don't know.
- 11:45I don't remember this, so I'm sorry. I wish I
- 11:47could tell you more, but really, I don't know what
- 11:49this is? Was she taking an exam backner? If your
- 11:53answer is you don't know, then that's your answer, Groff,
- 11:56I don't know. I don't know what this is. Question
- 11:59and this Eva? Are you referring to Eva Dubin? Answer yes,
- 12:03question and do you know her involvement? Did she ever
- 12:06conduct medical evaluations or did she organize medical appointments for
- 12:10women associated with Epstein? Answer not that I recall question.
- 12:15I think that's all the questions we have on this exhibit,
- 12:19just generally. Did you schedule any other kind of appointment
- 12:22for young women or girls associated with mister Epstein? Answer no?
- 12:27All right, folks, we're going to wrap up right here,
- 12:28and in the next episode dealing with the topic, we're
- 12:30going to pick up where we left off. All the
- 12:33information that goes with this episode can be found in
- 12:36the description box.
