- 0:16Speaker 2: A shop owner and Christ just telling customers not to
- 0:19Speaker 2: use his in store sizing service and then go buy
- 0:23Speaker 2: cheaper stuff online on TEAMU. Laura Blythe Sorry Lorie Blythe
- 0:28Speaker 2: has put up a sign outside his front Runner store
- 0:30Speaker 2: in Northlands Mall saying staff will ask customers if they
- 0:34Speaker 2: intend shopping online before they fit them. So people are
- 0:38Speaker 2: going into stores trying things on with the purpose of
- 0:42Speaker 2: seeing whether they will fit them and buying them online
- 0:44Speaker 2: for a cheaper price. Presumably John Duffy, Consumer in the
- 0:47Speaker 2: Chief Executive with me tonight.
- 0:49Speaker 3: Hey John, Hey Ryan, how's it going good?
- 0:52Speaker 2: Nothing wrong with the customer, No, nothing you know, wrong
- 0:56Speaker 2: or illegal with the customer going and doing that, but
- 0:58Speaker 2: also nothing wrong with the shop owner telling them bugger off.
- 1:03Speaker 3: Yeah, that's right. I mean, you know this has probably
- 1:06Speaker 3: been happening for a while ago. I've been into a
- 1:08Speaker 3: clothes shop and try to shirt on and then go
- 1:10Speaker 3: on and book the same shirt cheaper online if the
- 1:14Speaker 3: if the shopkeeper is willing to allow me to do that,
- 1:16Speaker 3: that's fine, but they also absolutely have the right to
- 1:20Speaker 3: ask the question. And if someone says, yeah, I'm just
- 1:24Speaker 3: using the sizing service that you're paying for to size
- 1:28Speaker 3: up a shoe so I can buy it online, it's
- 1:30Speaker 3: perfectly within the shopkeeper's rights to say, well, actually, I'm
- 1:33Speaker 3: not going to offer that service to you.
- 1:35Speaker 2: How would you know, I mean, this is the question
- 1:37Speaker 2: that we asked. How would you actually know whether that's
- 1:39Speaker 2: happening or not.
- 1:41Speaker 3: Well, that's the rope. I mean, anyone could just tele
- 1:43Speaker 3: FORB to the shopkeeper and say, look, I'm intending to
- 1:46Speaker 3: buy shoes, try them on, and say actually, wouldn't mind
- 1:49Speaker 3: having we think about it and not come back. So
- 1:51Speaker 3: it might be pretty difficult for him to enforce that
- 1:58Speaker 3: that policy, but there's no harm in him putting a
- 2:00Speaker 3: sign up and saying that he's going to try.
- 2:03Speaker 2: How good to have you on the show, John John Duffy,
