- 0:40Speaker 1: Hammond on the show before and he was with the
- 0:43Speaker 1: Blockchain Association at that time. He has come back to
- 0:46Speaker 1: the show as a friend of the show with Winter Mute,
- 0:49Speaker 1: so great to have you back on.
- 0:50Speaker 2: Likewise, it's good to be back on the show and
- 0:52Speaker 2: it's new capacy but still don't mean the same thing.
- 0:55Speaker 3: So really excited.
- 0:56Speaker 1: I want to open up with a clip Cody Carb
- 1:00Speaker 1: you know him of course over at the Digital Chamber,
- 1:03Speaker 1: and he gave us an odd on something, and I
- 1:05Speaker 1: want to get your opinion on this, but let's play
- 1:07Speaker 1: this clip. In terms of the odds of the Genius
- 1:10Speaker 1: Act going.
- 1:11Speaker 3: Through, ninety nine percent that we are going to get.
- 1:14Speaker 1: Those are good odds. What's the odds of market structure
- 1:19Speaker 1: coming through this year?
- 1:20Speaker 3: Fifty to fifty right now, fifty.
- 1:22Speaker 1: To fifty, those are not as good odds, Cody, for
- 1:25Speaker 1: I'm optimus, all right, so you've got it there, Ron,
- 1:28Speaker 1: what's your percentage on Genius? Do you feel pretty confident
- 1:31Speaker 1: on that one.
- 1:32Speaker 3: I'm feeling pretty confident at the current sitting.
- 1:34Speaker 2: We will see what happens if they actually have amendments
- 1:37Speaker 2: to the bill itself, because they'll be telling if they
- 1:39Speaker 2: make any tweaks whatsoever, it's got to go back in
- 1:41Speaker 2: the Senate. And the odds do drop a little bit,
- 1:43Speaker 2: but overall they still had a pretty highsome account of
- 1:45Speaker 2: eighteen Democrats joining across the aisle, So stilfhillly and confident
- 1:49Speaker 2: even they make changes or not, but odds are it
- 1:51Speaker 2: seems like they won't, so I'd still.
- 1:52Speaker 3: Put it probably around nine nine percent.
- 1:54Speaker 2: As Cody Will said, Genius at least be done by
- 1:57Speaker 2: audits too.
- 1:58Speaker 1: When you look at the Market Structure bill, that is
- 2:01Speaker 1: a different animal. There's a lot of working parts in it.
- 2:04Speaker 1: I know you're very active in that one specifically. What
- 2:08Speaker 1: is your opinion on that one for a pass through
- 2:11Speaker 1: what we'll see at least from this year's standpoint, or
- 2:14Speaker 1: do you think this rolls into twenty six.
- 2:16Speaker 3: It remains to be seen.
- 2:17Speaker 2: I'm going to probably say that fall twenty twenty five,
- 2:19Speaker 2: October November time frame is.
- 2:21Speaker 3: Going to be where the action is.
- 2:23Speaker 2: Okay, so we see now we've seen that at least
- 2:25Speaker 2: the Senate has confirmed that they will take up market Structure,
- 2:27Speaker 2: and they have dedicated themselves to a timeline that's pretty aggressive.
- 2:31Speaker 2: They said they want to have a draft out by
- 2:33Speaker 2: early August and they want to have a vote on
- 2:35Speaker 2: that draft in the Senate come probably into September, which
- 2:38Speaker 2: it could probably bleed over to October, and then that
- 2:41Speaker 2: likely means there's two different bills in market Structure, and
- 2:43Speaker 2: they got to combine those two bills together from the
- 2:46Speaker 2: House as well as Senate. But at least right now
- 2:48Speaker 2: in the short term, the key thing to watch for
- 2:49Speaker 2: next week is how many Democrats coming along with Republicans
- 2:53Speaker 2: likely to pass the Clarity Act because we saw a
- 2:55Speaker 2: Fit twenty one, the bill version of Clarity last year
- 2:58Speaker 2: or last Congress, that bill got over seventy supporters at
- 3:02Speaker 2: least from the House on the Democrats side of the aisle.
- 3:04Speaker 2: But this time it seems to be a shaving up,
- 3:06Speaker 2: a little more Parson again, a law that really centers
- 3:09Speaker 2: around more of the Trumpet family involvement in crypto, and
- 3:12Speaker 2: there's been some additional language and clarity to address some
- 3:14Speaker 2: of that to peace Democrats. But it will be you know,
- 3:17Speaker 2: be telling to see what the vote count is because
- 3:19Speaker 2: for a reference to when we went to the committee
- 3:21Speaker 2: at least for Fit twenty one and there were two.
- 3:24Speaker 3: So there were six Democrats who supported that bill.
- 3:27Speaker 2: Now come this year only two Democrats did, so we
- 3:29Speaker 2: already seen a little lower threshold.
- 3:31Speaker 3: For votes here.
- 3:32Speaker 2: So that is a pause for concern, but hopefully there
- 3:35Speaker 2: the Democrats can put away the pars of politics, because
- 3:37Speaker 2: this isn't a Trump bill.
- 3:38Speaker 3: This is a crypto of regulatory framework. It's a very
- 3:40Speaker 3: very different animal we're doing with here.
- 3:42Speaker 1: Yeah, for sure, So over fifty percent, are you kind
- 3:46Speaker 1: of on the same camp as Carbone with that I'm.
- 3:49Speaker 2: Gonna say forty percent chance it gets done, but ask
- 3:53Speaker 2: me next week after the votecounts much clearer idea.
- 3:56Speaker 1: All right, yeah, maybe a little bit of a date
- 4:00Speaker 1: next week, which we'll be watching, of course, very closely,
- 4:03Speaker 1: with Crypto Week being next week. However, we did get
- 4:06Speaker 1: the Oversight sub Committee hearing. This has now been postponed,
- 4:10Speaker 1: so your insights to d C, I would say, one
- 4:14Speaker 1: of the best out there in the industry. What does
- 4:16Speaker 1: this mean for the existing bills? Do you think this
- 4:19Speaker 1: slows them down, especially the Genius Act or is this
- 4:22Speaker 1: just you know, typical DC speak right now on these postponements.
- 4:26Speaker 2: The reason why I got postponed because Congress was not
- 4:29Speaker 2: supposed to be in session last week, but they were
- 4:31Speaker 2: voting on the big Beautiful Bill quite some time. So
- 4:34Speaker 2: that's solely why the House is out this week. That's
- 4:37Speaker 2: why they got postponed in those committees. So we'll likely
- 4:39Speaker 2: see those bill or those hearings happening you next week
- 4:42Speaker 2: or the week after. And as we saw potentially for
- 4:44Speaker 2: those who may have patched it last week, there was
- 4:46Speaker 2: Center Lumits trying to put in some crypto tax provisions
- 4:49Speaker 2: into the Big beautiful bill. Unfortunately, it didn't get accepted
- 4:53Speaker 2: by a lot of the chair as well as the
- 4:55Speaker 2: other members of Congress, which is expected.
- 4:57Speaker 3: It was kind of the last second push.
- 4:58Speaker 2: But this is the House show and commitment that, hey,
- 5:00Speaker 2: we want to work on crypto tax issues. Even though
- 5:02Speaker 2: we just did a big tax bill. There's a lot
- 5:04Speaker 2: of issues, especially in crypto on the tax front that
- 5:06Speaker 2: need to be addressed.
- 5:07Speaker 3: So I'm optimistic.
- 5:09Speaker 2: But that's me a totally separate effort, and that's going
- 5:11Speaker 2: to be likely a late twenty twenty five, early twenty
- 5:14Speaker 2: twenty six.
- 5:15Speaker 3: Time to tell that zex got legs.
- 5:16Speaker 1: All right, So there are some things happening right now
- 5:19Speaker 1: in the traditional markets. One of course, was announced by
- 5:22Speaker 1: Robin Hood just this last week, and that is token
- 5:24Speaker 1: is securities. That's happening mostly in Europe. I want to
- 5:27Speaker 1: play a clip for you and then get your opinion
- 5:30Speaker 1: of how this is affecting Congress today. Take a look.
- 5:33Speaker 4: Well, so they're live in the European Union, not live
- 5:37Speaker 4: in the UK or the US.
- 5:39Speaker 1: I mean, it'd be widely exciting right if it were,
- 5:41Speaker 1: for example, launched in the UK.
- 5:43Speaker 2: What kind of things are they asking you to do
- 5:44Speaker 2: to make sure that it's fine to do.
- 5:47Speaker 4: So what makes this possible now is clear regulations in
- 5:52Speaker 4: the European Union for crypto assets. In the US, we
- 5:56Speaker 4: do believe that the SEC has the authority to make
- 6:00Speaker 4: it happen without legislation, which is interesting.
- 6:03Speaker 2: So how quickly can it?
- 6:06Speaker 3: Hard to predict?
- 6:06Speaker 4: Yeah, and I actually think our event should help accelerate that.
- 6:10Speaker 4: And actually, since our announcement, I've had a deluge of
- 6:16Speaker 4: inquiries private companies that actually want to access retail to
- 6:20Speaker 4: have their shares tokenized, to be a part of this revolution.
- 6:23Speaker 4: I think that it's going to be a thing. I
- 6:25Speaker 4: think this is so important that we're gonna We're very motivated.
- 6:29Speaker 4: We'd like to have thousands of private companies on the platform.
- 6:33Speaker 1: All right, So that's a big deal because you're talking
- 6:36Speaker 1: about this is a seismic shift, this happening in the UK.
- 6:40Speaker 1: I was following your tweet right here obviously with your
- 6:43Speaker 1: announcement at winter Mute. Winter Mute a company that really
- 6:46Speaker 1: does focus on what's happening in the EU and the UK.
- 6:49Speaker 1: When you see that and you look at almost a
- 6:52Speaker 1: situation right now where the US is going, Wow, this
- 6:55Speaker 1: is happening in the biggest markets, but it's not the
- 6:58Speaker 1: United States. How much pressure is this gonna put on
- 7:01Speaker 1: DC to make a move on this quickly, vastly?
- 7:05Speaker 2: And I can already confirm that I was on the
- 7:07Speaker 2: hill earlier. It's why I'm a little sweaty today. But
- 7:09Speaker 2: it's because there's a lot of excitement on this and
- 7:11Speaker 2: mean especially token is securities and token equities. There's been
- 7:14Speaker 2: a lot of excitements post Robbin announcement that they have
- 7:17Speaker 2: a great team here in DC on the lobbing side
- 7:19Speaker 2: as well as Coinbase too has been itching again that's
- 7:22Speaker 2: used and they had that kind of pseudo product of sorts,
- 7:25Speaker 2: and so we're seeing a lot of interest from the
- 7:27Speaker 2: companies here and they're pushing DC and at least on
- 7:29Speaker 2: the toganization front. To your point and to Lad's points,
- 7:32Speaker 2: it's not really legislative play. This is more of a
- 7:34Speaker 2: regulatory play. But we haven't really seen yet explicit green
- 7:38Speaker 2: light ready to go again. There's been some efforts like
- 7:40Speaker 2: Coinbase on others that are pseudo like it, but that
- 7:43Speaker 2: explicit green light has not happened yet. And now some
- 7:46Speaker 2: that could be largely due to the fact that the
- 7:48Speaker 2: SEC Task Force is still up and rolling again. They're
- 7:50Speaker 2: gonna be here for another three and a half years,
- 7:52Speaker 2: so their timeline is a lot more you know, longer
- 7:54Speaker 2: out compared to Congress, which operates about a year and
- 7:57Speaker 2: a half two year cycles here. But there probably what's
- 8:00Speaker 2: happening is that they're waiting to see what happens with
- 8:02Speaker 2: that market Structure bill. Does that actually have legs in
- 8:05Speaker 2: the Senate, And if it does, great, then they can
- 8:07Speaker 2: pick it back off that for rulemakings and such at
- 8:09Speaker 2: the SEC. If we're to stall out, it does change
- 8:12Speaker 2: the SEC's at least strategy when it comes to providing
- 8:15Speaker 2: regulatory clarity because if it's not going to come for Congress,
- 8:17Speaker 2: if there's deadlock there, they have to you know more
- 8:20Speaker 2: take initiative here to.
- 8:21Speaker 3: Provide those clear rules of the road.
- 8:23Speaker 2: So I think there's a lot more difference to the
- 8:24Speaker 2: Congress here, But I can one hundred percent say that
- 8:27Speaker 2: the robber Hood announcement definitely made some ways in DC.
- 8:30Speaker 2: And if there's two teams more in the lobbing front
- 8:32Speaker 2: that I've seen that been weather mining storms and they've
- 8:35Speaker 2: done really really good job, it's Coinbase and robin Hood.
- 8:37Speaker 2: And of course there's a lot more players in the
- 8:39Speaker 2: ecosystem willing to help them out as well. So overall,
- 8:42Speaker 2: very confident that we're going to get some former clarity
- 8:45Speaker 2: on that front, especially more on the regulatory side for
- 8:47Speaker 2: the token I side of things. But largely they probably
- 8:50Speaker 2: wait for Congress at least to see where the bill
- 8:52Speaker 2: goes off for clarity.
- 8:53Speaker 1: So this could really start to shift things around. It's
- 8:56Speaker 1: a little surreal listening to Vlad say, oh, well, maybe
- 9:00Speaker 1: the SEC will guide this out, you know, because obviously
- 9:04Speaker 1: we've seen a different spin of the coin over the
- 9:07Speaker 1: last couple of years. I want to jump over to
- 9:10Speaker 1: Wall Street to Web three. This is the Digital Asset
- 9:13Speaker 1: Markets meeting that they were planning. This a full committee hearing.
- 9:16Speaker 1: Brad garling House set for his I think this might
- 9:19Speaker 1: be one of his first larger appearances. But we'll also
- 9:24Speaker 1: have Jonathan eleven from Chain Analysis, so he'll be fighting
- 9:27Speaker 1: off the you know a lot of the bad news
- 9:29Speaker 1: coming in. But what do you think is going to
- 9:31Speaker 1: happen here? Where do you think this is going and
- 9:33Speaker 1: what's the purpose.
- 9:34Speaker 2: So this is going to be the first full committee
- 9:35Speaker 2: here in for cent banking on market structure. So this
- 9:38Speaker 2: has not happened before. We had a subcommittee hearing about
- 9:40Speaker 2: two weeks ago, but this is the full committee hearing.
- 9:42Speaker 2: So lizip Warren is going to be at this hearing,
- 9:44Speaker 2: oh yeah, And the question's going to be remaining is
- 9:47Speaker 2: does she dictate the tone for the rest of the
- 9:48Speaker 2: Democrats down the dias when they ask their questions, because
- 9:51Speaker 2: we do know they are pro crypto Democrats on that committee,
- 9:54Speaker 2: like Lisa Blount Rochester from Delaware. She's actually let a
- 9:57Speaker 2: crypto bill that got signed a law this year. So
- 10:00Speaker 2: you know, we've seen some champions, but we've all seen
- 10:01Speaker 2: some of the loudest antagonists. Now the question is how
- 10:04Speaker 2: much does e. Lizab Warren more dictate the narrative on
- 10:07Speaker 2: the Democrats side, because that will be very telling, will clarity,
- 10:10Speaker 2: will the mark structure bill have a chance in the
- 10:12Speaker 2: Senate we will be able to get a decent amount
- 10:15Speaker 2: by partisan support, or we only get to see one
- 10:16Speaker 2: or two Democrats join the Republicans in this effort. And
- 10:19Speaker 2: let's not also forget, you know, the signs of a
- 10:22Speaker 2: much smaller body. And as we've seen with some recent bills,
- 10:24Speaker 2: especially the Big Beautiful Bill, some Republicans can be problematic
- 10:28Speaker 2: as well, and every vote counts, especially in the Senate,
- 10:31Speaker 2: and the magic number is sixty, so you need to
- 10:33Speaker 2: hit that threshold, and you need Democrats to come along
- 10:36Speaker 2: even with the Republican sweep. This is the you know,
- 10:39Speaker 2: the where of checks and balances in Congress here, so
- 10:41Speaker 2: it's really important to keep on moving forward. But the
- 10:44Speaker 2: backdrop of all this, of course is President Trump for
- 10:47Speaker 2: a lot of these folks, and there's a huge desire
- 10:49Speaker 2: for Democrats to show that they're finding Trump or the
- 10:51Speaker 2: Republican agenda at any fast that they can. And I
- 10:55Speaker 2: think that's going to be you know more hopefully we
- 10:57Speaker 2: can put away that parts of politics, but it will
- 10:59Speaker 2: be telling us what happens.
- 11:00Speaker 3: That hearing tomorrow.
- 11:02Speaker 2: And again you've seen some good players that have been
- 11:04Speaker 2: there before, like Tim Asad, who's been more the Democrat witness,
- 11:08Speaker 2: so we kind of know exactly what he's going to say.
- 11:10Speaker 2: But the question more is how aggressible Democrats come and
- 11:14Speaker 2: will be open minded or will they be more shut off,
- 11:16Speaker 2: because at least in the House, it took several years
- 11:18Speaker 2: to get those hearings to give you more of a
- 11:20Speaker 2: vi parison approach and to get those vote counts whereas
- 11:23Speaker 2: a Senate they haven't done as much compared to the
- 11:25Speaker 2: House work here, but which is kind of crazy to
- 11:28Speaker 2: think about. Like the Clarity Bill, for example, was one
- 11:30Speaker 2: of the bills that I worked on in some foreign
- 11:32Speaker 2: fashion back in twenty seventeen, and I thought that bill
- 11:34Speaker 2: would hopefully get across the finish line of Token Taxoniact
- 11:37Speaker 2: in twenty twenty.
- 11:37Speaker 3: One and the very latest.
- 11:39Speaker 2: But here we are almost eight years later and we're
- 11:42Speaker 2: still looking for a market structure bill. So someone who's
- 11:44Speaker 2: a person been very involved in this fight, My hope
- 11:47Speaker 2: is that the Senate is taking the notes from the
- 11:49Speaker 2: House that this is a inevitable but b this is
- 11:51Speaker 2: also not a trump bill, and see this is really
- 11:53Speaker 2: necessary for the markets because to your point Paul about
- 11:56Speaker 2: a friendly SEC, the penduland swings the other way again,
- 12:00Speaker 2: and that can happen in three years, so we wouldn't
- 12:02Speaker 2: have a situation where we have law instead of having
- 12:04Speaker 2: guidance that can get stricken down, just like this current
- 12:07Speaker 2: SEC has stripped down much of the guiance from the
- 12:09Speaker 2: previous SEC.
- 12:09Speaker 1: Yeah, for sure. So it is a window for sure
- 12:12Speaker 1: that could be looming up on us. And I think
- 12:14Speaker 1: you look at Crypto week next week July fourteenth through eighteenth.
- 12:18Speaker 1: This could really open up a lot of different analysis
- 12:22Speaker 1: on one how a lot of these lawmakers are dealing
- 12:26Speaker 1: with this, both from an incoming amount of lobbyists, but
- 12:30Speaker 1: also maybe giving us a little bit of indication. What
- 12:33Speaker 1: do you think is going to happen next week?
- 12:35Speaker 3: It is hard to tell.
- 12:36Speaker 2: And again a lot of this does come down to
- 12:38Speaker 2: more how you address it and how the narrative is
- 12:39Speaker 2: in the media, because you have to remember that a
- 12:41Speaker 2: lot of these members of Congress from most part having
- 12:43Speaker 2: dealt with Crypto, the Tuligan and two committees, you're dealing
- 12:46Speaker 2: about one hundred members or so. There was that vhoto
- 12:48Speaker 2: on did twenty one that was really strong last year,
- 12:50Speaker 2: and we had a lot of surprises, including folks like
- 12:52Speaker 2: Nancy Pelosi.
- 12:53Speaker 3: You understand this is important to vote for.
- 12:55Speaker 2: So the question is do we see that kind of
- 12:57Speaker 2: leadership buying from the Democrats saying, hey, it's okay, you know,
- 13:00Speaker 2: this is not the Republican versus Democrat fight. This is
- 13:02Speaker 2: actually a necessary bill. Those are large decisions that impact
- 13:06Speaker 2: the rest of the Democratic caucus. And so when we
- 13:09Speaker 2: get the same votecount as fit twenty one. On the
- 13:11Speaker 2: Democrats side, we're hoping so, but again we have this
- 13:16Speaker 2: take in mind that the Trump family involved in worldly
- 13:18Speaker 2: financial in the meanpoints and a lot of issues have
- 13:21Speaker 2: caused some heartburn for Democrats and also a vector to
- 13:24Speaker 2: attack the Trump administration via crypto legilation, which we didn't
- 13:27Speaker 2: really think was possibility in two years ago, but here
- 13:29Speaker 2: we are now. So that's just the added factor. But overall,
- 13:32Speaker 2: the market has been clamoring for this and this is
- 13:35Speaker 2: really really necessary. And that's where we're telling a lot
- 13:37Speaker 2: of folks like, hey, look, regardless of politics here, this
- 13:39Speaker 2: is actually just good policy that we need on the books.
- 13:41Speaker 2: And by no means is that like a giveaway to
- 13:43Speaker 2: the industry, No doubt, it's regulational.
- 13:45Speaker 3: An industry is asking.
- 13:46Speaker 1: For regulation, Yeah for sure. Well, and I think you know,
- 13:49Speaker 1: you look at some of the other things that are
- 13:51Speaker 1: kind of encompassing what's happening on the crypto side of that,
- 13:54Speaker 1: and that is data privacy. Obviously, this was a tweet
- 13:57Speaker 1: from Atallic. This was talking about Romans. This is one
- 14:00Speaker 1: of the Tornado Cash guys that was talking about what
- 14:04Speaker 1: could be accepted out there privacy and messaging without back doors.
- 14:07Speaker 1: That's one of the big one that everybody's looking at
- 14:09Speaker 1: right now. Do you think that data privacy versus Congress
- 14:14Speaker 1: and how the Democrats would perceive this, because the positions
- 14:19Speaker 1: that I've heard in the past from the Dems has
- 14:21Speaker 1: been very pro data privacy. This would change things up
- 14:25Speaker 1: quite a bit here if this were to go in
- 14:28Speaker 1: that direction. What are your thoughts about that?
- 14:29Speaker 3: It's a weird issue data privacy.
- 14:31Speaker 2: It actually kind of is one where the fringes of
- 14:33Speaker 2: Republicans and the fringes of the Democrats do meet in
- 14:35Speaker 2: the middle and actually agree. So I worked for Warren
- 14:37Speaker 2: Davidson years ago. He's a very pro privacy member of Congress.
- 14:41Speaker 2: And what is allies is Zoe Lofgan from California, and
- 14:43Speaker 2: she's one of the most progressive members out there. And
- 14:46Speaker 2: so data privacy does have this weird thing with the
- 14:49Speaker 2: edges agree but the middle does not. Actually, in the past,
- 14:52Speaker 2: it was actually a Republican administration that was pretty aggressive
- 14:54Speaker 2: on privacy, especially in the first Shop administration, and we
- 14:58Speaker 2: are seeing that old guard really being shifted out, and
- 15:00Speaker 2: I guess especially the dropping of the Romans compet that
- 15:02Speaker 2: has been a really interesting dynamic where these really national
- 15:05Speaker 2: security heavy Republicans who like to have as much of
- 15:08Speaker 2: a backdoor as possible, both in tech but also in
- 15:11Speaker 2: governments to enact whatever policies they want. That seems to
- 15:14Speaker 2: be getting shut down again. That's very much. It seems
- 15:17Speaker 2: to be the new Trump mimistration and the new push
- 15:20Speaker 2: from this issue. But again we've all seen self cussy
- 15:23Speaker 2: language included in the Clarity Act, and the largest pushback
- 15:26Speaker 2: for years was actually other Republicans, and so that's been
- 15:29Speaker 2: a major shift behind the scenes.
- 15:31Speaker 3: I don't think a lot of folks have realized.
- 15:32Speaker 2: So I'm glad you brought it up because it's a
- 15:35Speaker 2: very interesting battle with the very interesting and very different lines,
- 15:39Speaker 2: and it touches so many other issues. Of course, especially
- 15:42Speaker 2: when we saw the TikTok it's of like that years ago,
- 15:44Speaker 2: so it remains to be seen. But right now, at
- 15:47Speaker 2: least in DC, it's trending in a positive direction. And
- 15:50Speaker 2: recall again, the main hurdle for years ago was nationalcurity
- 15:54Speaker 2: heavy John McCain types on the Republican side, and that
- 15:57Speaker 2: has now evaporated.
- 15:58Speaker 1: What's happening with TikTok right now. Obviously we've got a
- 16:01Speaker 1: lot of activity going on one specifically this week. I
- 16:05Speaker 1: want to play this clip for you and get your
- 16:07Speaker 1: opinion as to whether or not you think this is
- 16:09Speaker 1: going to get approved.
- 16:09Speaker 2: Take a look, there is going to be a buyer
- 16:12Speaker 2: for the popular social media app.
- 16:14Speaker 3: Pretty much have a deal.
- 16:16Speaker 5: I think we're going to start Monday or Tuesday asking
- 16:18Speaker 5: talking to China.
- 16:19Speaker 3: So we pretty much have a deal.
- 16:21Speaker 5: President Trump is pretty confident that there is a buyer.
- 16:25Speaker 5: In fact, there could be private equity buyers at Consortium
- 16:29Speaker 5: who may be interested in buying TikTok us. But in
- 16:33Speaker 5: the process they have launched a new app sort of
- 16:35Speaker 5: suggest they want to decouple the algorithm from the core
- 16:39Speaker 5: TikTok usage, So that was also a point of contention
- 16:43Speaker 5: in terms of getting the approval.
- 16:45Speaker 1: So all right, so am I going to have effectively
- 16:48Speaker 1: two tiktoks out there at the TikTok app we all
- 16:50Speaker 1: know and love. And then something that they are doubling
- 16:53Speaker 1: internally is m two.
- 16:54Speaker 5: Will get access to the new app and then the
- 16:57Speaker 5: first one gets paced out.
- 16:59Speaker 1: So this is going to get be big. I'm just
- 17:01Speaker 1: going to show you a quick headline here. They're talking
- 17:03Speaker 1: about this app right here. Divest Or the band deadline
- 17:07Speaker 1: and the deadline for this new app right now, let
- 17:10Speaker 1: me kind of zoom in on that scheduled to launch
- 17:13Speaker 1: on September fifth. Now, TikTok very very critical in terms
- 17:19Speaker 1: of data privacy. That's been pretty much the campaign that
- 17:21Speaker 1: most of what DC has played on. You look at
- 17:24Speaker 1: this strategy though, if this does take place and we
- 17:28Speaker 1: end up with the likes of whether it's Oracle or
- 17:31Speaker 1: others out there that could play into an acquisition here,
- 17:35Speaker 1: this gets into all of social I mean you're talking
- 17:38Speaker 1: about as Facebook, meta pretty much anyone that would be
- 17:42Speaker 1: really at odds here now with possibly a data privacy issue.
- 17:45Speaker 1: Do you think that's going to play out going forward?
- 17:48Speaker 3: A hunred percent.
- 17:49Speaker 2: I actually I expected to consume much of the fall
- 17:52Speaker 2: when convers gets back in August or after August.
- 17:54Speaker 3: It's going to be an issue for hearings.
- 17:56Speaker 2: Again, like I mentioned, the party lines on this issue
- 17:58Speaker 2: are not straight Republican versus Democrat, especially on TikTok. It's
- 18:01Speaker 2: this also weird thing where you have the anti China
- 18:05Speaker 2: viewpoint of the Trump administration that's being very aggressive as
- 18:08Speaker 2: well as trying to say that this is actually a
- 18:09Speaker 2: pretty good technology that has been very instrumental for a
- 18:12Speaker 2: lot of things, including the campaign recently. So the lines
- 18:16Speaker 2: are very interesting and that's where we're going to see
- 18:18Speaker 2: probably a lot of different vectors here. But in terms
- 18:21Speaker 2: of buyers and in terms of folks somebody DC to
- 18:24Speaker 2: a lot of those issues. I've definitely seen them in
- 18:25Speaker 2: the hallways, you know, on both sides of the aisle.
- 18:28Speaker 2: Here are both sides of the camps of the TikTok fight,
- 18:31Speaker 2: and there's a lot of money being invested in terms
- 18:33Speaker 2: of trying and change hearts and minds.
- 18:35Speaker 1: Yeah, I think that's the key to your point is
- 18:37Speaker 1: a lot of lawmakers are now starting cycle in. We
- 18:40Speaker 1: are going to see a new presence, I think, especially
- 18:42Speaker 1: in twenty twenty six and the obviously going into the
- 18:44Speaker 1: midterms late next year when all this is done. At
- 18:48Speaker 1: the end of the day, Ron, what is your outlook
- 18:51Speaker 1: here for crypto, especially the blockchain industry as a whole.
- 18:54Speaker 1: Is this still? Man? We are on fire and we
- 18:57Speaker 1: are going to see so much innovation. What's your uh?
- 19:00Speaker 2: I'ven't seen that directed myself actually, I mean especially after
- 19:03Speaker 2: November uh in where you aside where you'd actually took
- 19:06Speaker 2: them to the White House a couple of months ago,
- 19:08Speaker 2: I v Any and Marina the COO uh, and they
- 19:11Speaker 2: were very much doubling down President Trump's message of we're
- 19:14Speaker 2: trying to make this the crypto capital of the world,
- 19:15Speaker 2: and we're actually establishing a US office. I firstly moved
- 19:18Speaker 2: from DC to New York, and I'm seeing the slew
- 19:21Speaker 2: of other companies who are hiring in this space, both
- 19:24Speaker 2: for business development teams but also policy folks.
- 19:26Speaker 1: Uh.
- 19:27Speaker 2: And really New York's kind of weirdly this crypto capital now,
- 19:30Speaker 2: and a lot of folks from mine so I've seen
- 19:33Speaker 2: it personally, and it's weird going through areas like Soho
- 19:36Speaker 2: and even the fi Ie areas and seeing a lot
- 19:39Speaker 2: of crypto people talking crypto on the streets.
- 19:41Speaker 3: I never thought I would see that in years. But
- 19:43Speaker 3: cryptos coming to Wall Street now.
- 19:45Speaker 2: The question is kind of, uh, will crypto e its
- 19:47Speaker 2: own tail in d C where we have too much
- 19:50Speaker 2: find in the markets to really be, you know, clear
- 19:54Speaker 2: as a mature industry, the sky's a limit. But I've
- 19:57Speaker 2: been seeing it firsthand in New York very very recently.
- 20:01Speaker 2: It's got me really excited. So and again, so not
- 20:03Speaker 2: just winning mute, it's a lot of companies I'm seeing
- 20:05Speaker 2: and they're all actually we're a lot of us are
- 20:06Speaker 2: in the same we work, so it's kind of exciting
- 20:08Speaker 2: to see these companies coming together and we're all collaborating together.
- 20:12Speaker 3: Very much like at the Blockchain Association.
- 20:14Speaker 2: It's kind of like a WE word for crypto, so
- 20:16Speaker 2: like all the crypto lobbyists and policy folks come hang
- 20:18Speaker 2: out and it's we're emulating that in New York and
- 20:21Speaker 2: it's grown tremendously.
- 20:23Speaker 1: I love it. Hey, listen, Ron, it's been great having
- 20:26Speaker 1: you back on. I'm going to tap you a couple
- 20:27Speaker 1: of times. We'll be covering a lot of this going
- 20:30Speaker 1: through the next six weeks and into the fall as
- 20:33Speaker 1: we start to see a lot of changes coming into
- 20:35Speaker 1: the crypto market. So thanks again for coming in.
- 20:36Speaker 2: We appreciate it anytime, but we planned to cover so
- 20:38Speaker 2: looking forward to it.
