- 0:00Speaker 1: They were definitely going out. They were going in for
- 0:04Speaker 1: a night cap. Wow, we've blown the lid wide off
- 0:09Speaker 1: this thing. Hey everybody, welcome to you Girls Gone Hallmark,
- 0:27Speaker 1: a Hallmark review podcast. I'm Megan and I'm a lifelong
- 0:30Speaker 1: Hallmark movie fan. And I'm Wendy and apparently I hate Strudel.
- 0:35Speaker 1: Today we're discussing the Wedding Cottage, which originally aired on Saturday,
- 0:39Speaker 1: April fifteenth on the Hallmark Channel. If you want to
- 0:42Speaker 1: connect with us outside of the podcast, we'd love for
- 0:44Speaker 1: you to follow us on Instagram, where we're both at
- 0:47Speaker 1: Girls Gone Hallmark and at Megan and Wendy. Jump into
- 0:51Speaker 1: our Facebook group Girls Gone Hallmark. Lots of Strudel talk
- 0:56Speaker 1: and some fantastic art. Yeah. Thanks to the listener Mike,
- 1:03Speaker 1: or you can always email us Megan and Wendy at
- 1:07Speaker 1: gmail dot com. Oh, we want to take a minute
- 1:10Speaker 1: and thank every single one of you who's taken a
- 1:12Speaker 1: minute to leave a review for Girls Gone Hallmark, especially
- 1:17Speaker 1: those of you who leave nice reviews. Thank you. I
- 1:19Speaker 1: want to read one. Most recent review came in this
- 1:22Speaker 1: weekend from Paula f fifty nine. I've been a fan
- 1:25Speaker 1: of Hallmark movies for years, and last year discovered the
- 1:28Speaker 1: Girl's Gone Hallmark podcast and the wonderful community they've built
- 1:31Speaker 1: as best friends. They're back and forth, seems so spontaneous
- 1:33Speaker 1: and it's very funny. But with all this humor, they
- 1:36Speaker 1: provide high quality reviews. They also have a great relationship
- 1:39Speaker 1: with their listeners. It really is a community, a very inclusive,
- 1:42Speaker 1: open minded community. Why are you looking at me that
- 1:45Speaker 1: I don't know you're making a face. I was gonna say, like, pooh,
- 1:48Speaker 1: that's right, you take it. One star reviewer. Maybe we
- 1:52Speaker 1: haven't addressed this on the podcast, but you can view
- 1:55Speaker 1: the one star review in Apple Podcasts, or before you leave,
- 1:59Speaker 1: a five star review of your own. Didn't like our
- 2:01Speaker 1: liberal politics on the show, and I'm sorry. I think
- 2:05Speaker 1: by liberal politics mean we like everybody and would like
- 2:08Speaker 1: to see them all represented on Hallmark. So I'm sorry. Sorry.
- 2:11Speaker 1: We don't hate gay people on your behalf. There it
- 2:14Speaker 1: is there, it is, yes, I you know, I think
- 2:17Speaker 1: I'm still suffering from a little bit of jet lag,
- 2:20Speaker 1: because I don't even remember when we talked about that,
- 2:22Speaker 1: like when you told me was I on my trip
- 2:25Speaker 1: when you sent me that. No, I think it was
- 2:28Speaker 1: before that was it. Yeah, I don't really recall, So
- 2:31Speaker 1: thanks to everybody who heard the siren cry for we
- 2:35Speaker 1: need your positive reviews exactly. Hey, let's talk Hallmark news
- 2:40Speaker 1: and notes. Okay, I don't really have many, No, it's
- 2:44Speaker 1: light I dug through. But we do know that Hallmark
- 2:47Speaker 1: has announced that When Calls the Heart will return with
- 2:50Speaker 1: a new season this July. The Heartys are excited about that.
- 2:54Speaker 1: That's great. That's a show we don't watch and probably won't. No,
- 2:58Speaker 1: it's too too many seasons deep at this can't. If
- 3:01Speaker 1: you want to know what's happening on Hallmark in May,
- 3:03Speaker 1: you can visit Meganowinni dot com. We have a lineup
- 3:05Speaker 1: of the new movies coming to Hallmark. I gotta tell ya,
- 3:08Speaker 1: I'm kind of excited for a few of them. Tell
- 3:11Speaker 1: me dream Moms with Tamara Maury how late they had
- 3:16Speaker 1: like Broadway aspirations. And then it's a story of it's
- 3:21Speaker 1: never too late to become who you want to be,
- 3:24Speaker 1: kind of into it. It's never too late to be
- 3:27Speaker 1: your true self, right yeah, or to go after your dreams.
- 3:30Speaker 1: So I just hope like we don't see like a
- 3:33Speaker 1: mom versus mom oh nastiness. I just want like, let's
- 3:38Speaker 1: lift everybody up. Yeah, what about Jodie Sweeten's new movie.
- 3:42Speaker 1: I'm looking forward to that too. When I posted that
- 3:46Speaker 1: blog post, it had a different name, different title. Indeed,
- 3:51Speaker 1: it was super long. I don't remember what it is,
- 3:53Speaker 1: but right now it's called The Jane Mysteries Inheritance Loss
- 3:57Speaker 1: and btw, do you know it's about like a No,
- 4:02Speaker 1: I did not. If you don't know what an MLM is,
- 4:04Speaker 1: it said multi multi level marketing scheme. There it is,
- 4:08Speaker 1: and so she is like investigating it. I was like, yeah,
- 4:13Speaker 1: can it be about lakings or about what else? Is there?
- 4:16Speaker 1: Face products? Something? Yeah? Give us that Lula Rich gossip. Yeah,
- 4:22Speaker 1: we're also getting a Hannah Swenson mystery. Now. I watched
- 4:28Speaker 1: the first Murder She Baked movie and I really enjoyed it. Actually,
- 4:33Speaker 1: I thought it was really cute, and I posted about
- 4:35Speaker 1: it on our Instagram and we got some feedback that it.
- 4:38Speaker 1: Originally the series was Murder She Baked and then it
- 4:41Speaker 1: changed to the Hannah Swenson Mysteries, and someone suggested that
- 4:44Speaker 1: perhaps they had lost the Murder She Baked licensing. I don't.
- 4:48Speaker 1: I don't have it truly did no further research, but
- 4:50Speaker 1: more than one person reached out and said when it
- 4:53Speaker 1: switched to the Hannah Swenson mysteries, they were not enjoyable anymore,
- 4:57Speaker 1: and they even said some of the characters completely change,
- 5:00Speaker 1: like not a recast. They like made her sister an
- 5:02Speaker 1: entirely new sister. I have not watched all of the
- 5:06Speaker 1: Hannah Swinson series, but the first one was real cute.
- 5:10Speaker 1: When I like it, it's it's impossible to tell. Okay, can
- 5:13Speaker 1: we talk about love and Zion National? I mean, I'd
- 5:16Speaker 1: rather not heeks eeks is all I'm gonna say about it.
- 5:21Speaker 1: I just don't know why they do this to Cindy Busby.
- 5:24Speaker 1: Why is she always in some sort of outdoorsy movie.
- 5:27Speaker 1: Let's not make Chasing Waterfalls Part two. I just don't
- 5:31Speaker 1: want to be blamed for woman on woman crime, so
- 5:34Speaker 1: I will refrain from saying anything right now. I think
- 5:36Speaker 1: it's a good idea. Okay, let's hear a synopsis of
- 5:39Speaker 1: The Wedding Cottage. A Wedding Guy creator must convince an
- 5:42Speaker 1: uninspired artist and owner of a special wedding cottage to
- 5:45Speaker 1: renovate the Rundown Cottage to host a contest winning couple
- 5:50Speaker 1: for their dream wedding drink every time you say cottage
- 5:54Speaker 1: or wedding geez Luise. Starring Aaron Krackow and Brendon Penny.
- 5:59Speaker 1: This movie was directed by Terry Ingram, who directed five
- 6:01Speaker 1: of the six Wedding Veil movies, Three Wives, Then and
- 6:04Speaker 1: A Baby Winter in Veil. He's a prolific Hallmark director.
- 6:07Speaker 1: They got the big guns for this movie. Yeah, funny enough.
- 6:11Speaker 1: Same script writers as the Wedding Veil as well, Judith
- 6:15Speaker 1: Berg and Sandra Berg. Yes, like they like to write
- 6:18Speaker 1: about weddings. I guess, huh. Evidently maybe Terry Ingram likes
- 6:22Speaker 1: to work with those writers. Maybe he likes to make
- 6:26Speaker 1: movies about weddings. Maybe. I don't know. I don't know.
- 6:30Speaker 1: I gotta tell you though, when I was watching it,
- 6:33Speaker 1: like when it said directed by Terry and R was like, hey, yeah,
- 6:36Speaker 1: it would be a good one. I agree. Of course.
- 6:38Speaker 1: Aaron Krakause stars in this movie. I was surprised to
- 6:40Speaker 1: see that she only has eighteen acting credits. However, she's
- 6:44Speaker 1: been on a couple series. She was in eighteen episodes
- 6:47Speaker 1: of Army Wives, which is a show that I watched
- 6:49Speaker 1: every episode of. It was a lifetime series that has
- 6:52Speaker 1: since ended. She of course stars on one Calls the Heart,
- 6:55Speaker 1: which has had a number of seasons. But her last
- 6:58Speaker 1: Hallmark movie was in twenty twenty one, and it was
- 7:00Speaker 1: it was always you fan favorite, fan fav Is it
- 7:04Speaker 1: just because Tyler Hines, isn't it? And that's why it's
- 7:07Speaker 1: a fan favorite. I think people enjoy their chemistry. I
- 7:10Speaker 1: liked that movie. You liked it less. I haven't been
- 7:13Speaker 1: willing to re listen to our review of that movie
- 7:16Speaker 1: because I get you know, it was two years ago.
- 7:18Speaker 1: I worry about what we might have said. Oh, I
- 7:21Speaker 1: definitely talked about hair on that movie, and she had
- 7:24Speaker 1: some weird bangs that I thought was a wig that
- 7:27Speaker 1: I remember you telling me that it wasn't a wig.
- 7:29Speaker 1: Definitely was not. So I thought her hair was real
- 7:32Speaker 1: cute in this movie. Me too. It's on my list. Okay,
- 7:36Speaker 1: did you know this movie was based on a book
- 7:39Speaker 1: I did, A Cottage Wedding by Lee Duncan. You didn't
- 7:44Speaker 1: already talk about that, did you? No? I just have
- 7:46Speaker 1: it on my list. I'm telling you, I'm still suffering
- 7:48Speaker 1: from jet lag, so I'm not really listening. Wait a minute,
- 7:58Speaker 1: are we still on news and Notes again? Okay? Thank god?
- 8:02Speaker 1: Oh my god, I'm leaving it in Oh Yeah, I
- 8:05Speaker 1: got more. You just sit there and listen. Aaron Douglas
- 8:07Speaker 1: plays contractor Darryl. He was a standout role in this
- 8:11Speaker 1: movie for me, and he's in several other Hallmark Mysteries movies.
- 8:16Speaker 1: He has one hundred and fourteen acting credits and is
- 8:18Speaker 1: perhaps best known for his role in Battlestar Galactica. Show
- 8:21Speaker 1: that Wendy would never watch. Nope, it's Will Wheaton man
- 8:24Speaker 1: that No Will? Whaton was in Star Trek? They're not
- 8:28Speaker 1: all the same thing? Oh boy? And finally, this was
- 8:33Speaker 1: not filmed in Vermont or in New York, but in
- 8:36Speaker 1: British Columbia. Let's not forget Brandam Henny also is on
- 8:40Speaker 1: Just Speak Sures. He has fifty six acting credits himself.
- 8:43Speaker 1: Do you have a first impression of this movie? I
- 8:46Speaker 1: do you know? When they say, oh way a man
- 8:51Speaker 1: dances indicates his abilities? Altwhere goodness? What's happening? Do you
- 8:58Speaker 1: know what I'm talking about? Okay, That's all I'm gonna
- 9:00Speaker 1: say about it. I very much enjoyed the slow dancing
- 9:04Speaker 1: scenes in this movie. My first impression is it was
- 9:08Speaker 1: always you who you liked it better? Oh yeah, oh wow,
- 9:15Speaker 1: it could be recency biased. The Heinz fans are not
- 9:18Speaker 1: gonna like that will come for me? Okay, this is
- 9:21Speaker 1: not Girls Gone Tyler, and people don't like when we
- 9:25Speaker 1: like other people. Our Hallmark group is flooded with Tyler
- 9:28Speaker 1: Heines fans. Yeah, I'm more happy to have you. I
- 9:32Speaker 1: think his fandom blows my mind. And I can't imagine
- 9:37Speaker 1: what it would be like to be on the receiving end,
- 9:40Speaker 1: Like if there was a Spicy Girl's Gone Hallmark Facebook group,
- 9:44Speaker 1: I don't know how that would make me feel, right, Yeah,
- 9:47Speaker 1: I think that would be a hard, hard thing to navigate.
- 9:50Speaker 1: Yeah as a human, Yeah, okay, would you like about
- 9:52Speaker 1: this movie? So I read some commentary that you know,
- 9:57Speaker 1: I had, like kind of a familiar trope. Sure, but
- 10:01Speaker 1: I liked it me too. I just thought the movie
- 10:04Speaker 1: was very easy to watch, very easy to follow, and
- 10:08Speaker 1: very enjoyable. I agree on all those points. We can
- 10:11Speaker 1: get into the weeds and we'll talk about what we
- 10:13Speaker 1: liked and what we wished for. But half of my
- 10:17Speaker 1: impression of a movie is not based on like what
- 10:19Speaker 1: it's technically good at. It's based on like, how do
- 10:22Speaker 1: I feel watching it? Right? And am I into it
- 10:25Speaker 1: and I'm I like enjoying when Brendan Penny tucks Aaronkrakhose
- 10:29Speaker 1: hair behind her ear. A note about that, I mean,
- 10:33Speaker 1: I this movie gave me the warm fuzzies. Yeah, I agree.
- 10:39Speaker 1: And I think that this movie was kind of polarizing
- 10:41Speaker 1: because a lot of people did like it, but not
- 10:44Speaker 1: everybody thought it was a delight. We really Aaron and
- 10:47Speaker 1: Brendan sold it for me. This is the best thing
- 10:51Speaker 1: I've ever seen Aerin in. And I've watched all the
- 10:54Speaker 1: Father Christmas movies. I thought they were a great pairing.
- 10:58Speaker 1: I will say that this is probably the best thing
- 11:00Speaker 1: I've seen Brendan Penny in you know what, though maybe
- 11:04Speaker 1: not because he was in Beverly Hill's Wedding and I
- 11:06Speaker 1: thought he was quite funny in that movie straight out
- 11:09Speaker 1: of Oregon. I will never forget that line. I love
- 11:12Speaker 1: it so much. He was also in the Christmas movie
- 11:15Speaker 1: last year where he was like the in Mary Measure.
- 11:18Speaker 1: He was really good in that movie too. You watched
- 11:21Speaker 1: that after the holidays, Yes, I did, because I know
- 11:23Speaker 1: you didn't watch it during the holidays. I watched it
- 11:25Speaker 1: because it did so well in our Brass bracket. So
- 11:29Speaker 1: I was like, I'm gonna give it a watch, and
- 11:31Speaker 1: I really enjoyed it. And I found him very enjoyable
- 11:36Speaker 1: in this movie too. Yeah, I think we just like him,
- 11:39Speaker 1: I guess, but he's never like stood out to me
- 11:42Speaker 1: as like, oh, I have to watch this Brendan Penny movie. Yeah,
- 11:45Speaker 1: is he on our shirt? I don't. I'm gonna have
- 11:48Speaker 1: to look. I don't think so, Yeah, we need to
- 11:50Speaker 1: add a penny to the shirt. Sure do? Okay? Superficially
- 11:55Speaker 1: loved Aaron krackhouse sassy little haircut, me too. Love Brendan
- 11:59Speaker 1: Penny's beard, me too. I love a scruffy look so much.
- 12:05Speaker 1: The only thing I wanted put those glasses on. I
- 12:10Speaker 1: think Brendan Penny wears glasses, so you're saying that he
- 12:14Speaker 1: should just wear them, while he's like, it's a good
- 12:16Speaker 1: look at all times, sir, except for maybe occasionally as
- 12:24Speaker 1: the as the circumstances call for. I thought the wardrobe
- 12:32Speaker 1: for her name was Vanessa, right, I don't know. Aaron
- 12:37Speaker 1: krack I was like, God, I have no idea Vanessa,
- 12:41Speaker 1: and I'm gonna say Jake. It's probably not Jake. Vanessa
- 12:45Speaker 1: not Jake. Give me another guess Tom four letters, two syllables,
- 12:50Speaker 1: starts with a vowel owen Evan. Oh, I'm good. Remember
- 12:55Speaker 1: Vanessa and Evan? Her outfits were really cute. Yeah. I
- 12:59Speaker 1: thought there was this one where she was wearing this
- 13:01Speaker 1: cute blazer and these like jeans, and I was like,
- 13:04Speaker 1: I love that. Yeah, I thought that's very cute. And
- 13:08Speaker 1: you could tell it was really cold too. I felt
- 13:10Speaker 1: really bad for them because I could see their breath
- 13:12Speaker 1: in like so many scenes, and I was like, Oh,
- 13:15Speaker 1: these poor people. It's like supposed to be like a
- 13:16Speaker 1: spring movie, and they're like freezing their buns off. Yes,
- 13:21Speaker 1: did you notice that she only I'm jumping around. I'm sorry.
- 13:25Speaker 1: She only wore one particular coat in this movie. I'm
- 13:28Speaker 1: not sure I did trench coat. I just because it
- 13:30Speaker 1: had this like metal like embellishment right here that I
- 13:34Speaker 1: was like, oh, there she is in that jacket again.
- 13:37Speaker 1: Oh anyway, all right, okay, what else did you like?
- 13:40Speaker 1: I kind of enjoy the married couple story, I thought,
- 13:43Speaker 1: I like, I like their backstory. It was so minor, though,
- 13:48Speaker 1: what what did you need to about it? A lot?
- 13:50Speaker 1: I don't know. I like that like they had broken
- 13:52Speaker 1: up because he didn't want to be a burden on her.
- 13:54Speaker 1: And then they got back together and now they're getting
- 13:56Speaker 1: married and she's so supportive of him and they really
- 14:00Speaker 1: love each other. Okay, but can I Nope, I have
- 14:04Speaker 1: something to comment, okay on that couple, and I wish
- 14:08Speaker 1: for cool anything else. Yeah, there were some funnier moments
- 14:11Speaker 1: in this maybe that I quite enjoyed, like when they
- 14:15Speaker 1: when Vanessa and Evan first meet and she's like kind
- 14:18Speaker 1: of a pest and you know, like me again, and
- 14:22Speaker 1: I just thought she was funny like she was. She
- 14:25Speaker 1: was very light compared to his kind of grouchy artist.
- 14:29Speaker 1: I liked them. You know, a lot of people talk
- 14:31Speaker 1: about chemistry. I didn't think they had like fire chemistry,
- 14:34Speaker 1: but I thought they like just played well together. Okay,
- 14:38Speaker 1: you know, yeah, they were looking at me like I'm bananas, right,
- 14:41Speaker 1: I'm just engaged in your conversation. Hey, what did you
- 14:45Speaker 1: think of the leaf blowers? I thought it was so funny,
- 14:48Speaker 1: and you know, I hate hygienks, but it felt very
- 14:50Speaker 1: real and relatable because we have a leaf blower at
- 14:53Speaker 1: home that I quite enjoy using and it can get
- 14:56Speaker 1: were wild on you. So I agree, they've got a
- 15:00Speaker 1: little bit of a kick. Ours is electric arses not
- 15:02Speaker 1: have guess girls got on Hollmark community member Mike sends
- 15:09Speaker 1: us his thoughts after every movie, which I appreciate, and
- 15:12Speaker 1: I try to not read them too carefully before we
- 15:15Speaker 1: because I'm like, don't. I don't want to absorb other
- 15:17Speaker 1: people's thought about the movie into my own. But one
- 15:19Speaker 1: thing he said is he did not like that scene,
- 15:21Speaker 1: and I was like, oh, yes, because he was like,
- 15:23Speaker 1: I think it falls into your category of hydrink. Yes,
- 15:26Speaker 1: I think it could have. I thought it was played
- 15:28Speaker 1: so well. He did comment like that was a brand
- 15:31Speaker 1: new leafblower all gassed up in a house that has
- 15:33Speaker 1: not been maintained for five years. But I just thought
- 15:37Speaker 1: it was kind of fun. I wouldn't know how to
- 15:39Speaker 1: like start it from the back. No, me neither. That's
- 15:44Speaker 1: what was funny about it. I loved it. I did. Yeah,
- 15:48Speaker 1: Mike's points are fair about hyjenks. I'm the hygienks hater,
- 15:52Speaker 1: so it could have gone It could have gone another
- 15:56Speaker 1: way for me, but I was enjoying the movie so
- 15:58Speaker 1: much at that point, yeah, that it didn't bother me
- 16:01Speaker 1: if I did not like the movie. And then that happened.
- 16:04Speaker 1: I'd be like, Yeah, I liked how they kind of
- 16:07Speaker 1: stayed true to a home improvement in that something always
- 16:12Speaker 1: comes up. There's always like a that moment with the contractors,
- 16:15Speaker 1: like I gotta talk to you. Like every single person
- 16:17Speaker 1: who's ever done any sort of renovation knows that moment
- 16:19Speaker 1: and you're like, oh, this is gonna cost me how
- 16:21Speaker 1: many thousands of dollars right now? I thought found that
- 16:24Speaker 1: very relatable. The raccoons in the attic or what I mean,
- 16:27Speaker 1: that's silly, right, But there's always going to be something.
- 16:29Speaker 1: They're like, this tree is gonna destroy the house. Oh
- 16:32Speaker 1: my gosh, Okay. That I thought was kind of Her
- 16:38Speaker 1: repairs were not for the longevity of the property. Her
- 16:42Speaker 1: repairs were for this one day. So they didn't need
- 16:46Speaker 1: to trim the damn tree for her day. Yeah, she
- 16:50Speaker 1: didn't need to be so invested in it. Right. But
- 16:54Speaker 1: but then then he gets the wood and he makes
- 16:56Speaker 1: the thing, you know. Yeah, but also his art argument,
- 17:00Speaker 1: Evan's argument against it is so stupid, like it's going
- 17:02Speaker 1: to grow into the house, so you obviously have to
- 17:05Speaker 1: trim the tree, like you can't be they're not cutting
- 17:07Speaker 1: it down, Yeah, don't be so precious about this tree
- 17:10Speaker 1: branch and it's going to destroy the home. Yeah, but
- 17:12Speaker 1: he doesn't care about the cottage at that point. No,
- 17:15Speaker 1: he doesn't doesn't care. But his grandparents planted the tree. Yeah,
- 17:20Speaker 1: he cares more about the tree than the cottage, the
- 17:22Speaker 1: business that they built. There's some hanky timelines they're okay,
- 17:27Speaker 1: oh yeah, because hmm, it's one hundred years old tree.
- 17:30Speaker 1: It's one hundred year old tree. But how old are
- 17:33Speaker 1: his grandparents? Yeah? I think it's actually his great grandparents.
- 17:38Speaker 1: That got very confusing to me. That's also something that
- 17:40Speaker 1: Mike pointed out and the timeline that made my head go.
- 17:43Speaker 1: And I was like, don't care. Not that I don't
- 17:45Speaker 1: care about your feedback, Mike, I just am not invested
- 17:48Speaker 1: enough in the grandparent great grandparent timeline up at all.
- 17:51Speaker 1: I gotta let it go. What what'd you wish for?
- 17:54Speaker 1: I got more more? I got I got two more.
- 17:57Speaker 1: Actually we did talk about their chemistry, but in that
- 18:02Speaker 1: moment where they're dancing and he brushes the hair out
- 18:04Speaker 1: of her face, it made me feel melty. Yeah, and
- 18:08Speaker 1: I don't really like often feel that way towards these
- 18:13Speaker 1: Hallmark movies. Did they make you want to make a
- 18:15Speaker 1: meme out of that scene. No, it made me wish
- 18:19Speaker 1: that my husband could dance that. I don't even need
- 18:22Speaker 1: the dancing, just like tuck my hair. My husband would
- 18:25Speaker 1: never do anything like that. Yeah, but okay, and finally,
- 18:29Speaker 1: I love when a town rallies around like they're gonna
- 18:34Speaker 1: You don't always love that, Okay. I love a good montage.
- 18:38Speaker 1: There was no montage in this, but like, I'm feeling
- 18:41Speaker 1: very sentimental about this property. It was beautiful, it was
- 18:47Speaker 1: and I want to stay there. Sure, So that's why
- 18:51Speaker 1: I was like excited that everybody was sort of like
- 18:54Speaker 1: jumping in. Yeah, to make it happen. What would you
- 18:57Speaker 1: wish for? So stop with the stupid contests. Every wedding
- 19:01Speaker 1: movie that I feel like I've seen on this channel
- 19:04Speaker 1: involves some sort of contest, some sort of winner, some
- 19:06Speaker 1: sort of something. I hate it. I've never met somebody
- 19:10Speaker 1: in my forty eight years that has won a wedding. Yeah, never,
- 19:16Speaker 1: I just don't. Why Why does it have to be
- 19:19Speaker 1: like a part of the story. Why can't she just
- 19:22Speaker 1: be planning a wedding for a client. So her job
- 19:27Speaker 1: was another thing that made my brain go because apparently
- 19:30Speaker 1: she used to be a wedding planner, and now she
- 19:32Speaker 1: has this wedding quote guidebook and website that apparently includes
- 19:38Speaker 1: the wedding cottage, but it has been closed for five years.
- 19:40Speaker 1: So she's a terrible website manager because she does not
- 19:43Speaker 1: ever check in to see if these locations are still open. Yes,
- 19:47Speaker 1: sometimes there is too many justified for the sake of
- 19:53Speaker 1: the plot moments, like well, and I'll get to I
- 19:57Speaker 1: wished one in the wedding scene when the couple is
- 20:03Speaker 1: having a little bit of dance stage fright and Evan
- 20:07Speaker 1: takes vness on the dance floor and he's like, just
- 20:09Speaker 1: just follow me, right, just follow me, dude, Yeah, don't
- 20:12Speaker 1: stand on the dance floor. Don't steal their thunder Like
- 20:15Speaker 1: maybe just like stand off in the shadows dancing, not
- 20:18Speaker 1: on the floor. Let them have their first dance moment.
- 20:22Speaker 1: I immediately thought, I go, this is gonna invite other
- 20:25Speaker 1: couples to come on the dance floor during this couple's
- 20:28Speaker 1: first dance. Don't do that. And the guy I know,
- 20:33Speaker 1: he was a wounded He's not a VET, but he's
- 20:36Speaker 1: a has a wounded. Help me here, that's a good point. Actually,
- 20:45Speaker 1: how is he going back to serve if he's wounded. Yes,
- 20:50Speaker 1: can you serve in the military with a prosthetic limb?
- 20:53Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't either somebody email us yeah,
- 20:58Speaker 1: or send us a DM or voice memo something. Anyway,
- 21:04Speaker 1: that whole scene irritated me because it's not like he
- 21:07Speaker 1: was a buffoon. He could have just like swayed back
- 21:11Speaker 1: and forth. She didn't have like twirler around and dipper
- 21:16Speaker 1: and like do the Lindy Hop, Like just do you
- 21:19Speaker 1: know what I mean? Like like I know the whole time,
- 21:21Speaker 1: I was like just sway, Yes, sway high school slow
- 21:25Speaker 1: dance it fully, but I hear what you mean, Like,
- 21:28Speaker 1: don't go still those people's thunder, don't get on this
- 21:31Speaker 1: be out of eyesight, put that invisible cloak on and
- 21:37Speaker 1: do your dancing. Okay. I also wish she would have
- 21:40Speaker 1: made him work for his apology a little bit more.
- 21:44Speaker 1: And when Evan discovers by way of his art dealer
- 21:52Speaker 1: agent Roland, that he's been featured in this article as
- 21:57Speaker 1: this like down and out school Sir, he's like were
- 22:01Speaker 1: injured artists. She wouldn't do that, And Roland is like,
- 22:05Speaker 1: she used you. Roland doesn't even know who this woman
- 22:09Speaker 1: is seriously and he's upset on his behalf, which I
- 22:13Speaker 1: understand because it painted him as like this struggling artist
- 22:16Speaker 1: who you know, hadn't produced a piece and all this time. However,
- 22:20Speaker 1: he initially comes to her defense and then decides that
- 22:23Speaker 1: there's no other explanation other than she has told this
- 22:27Speaker 1: writer these things about him. He approaches her and he's like,
- 22:31Speaker 1: I can't believe you would do that, and then bounces
- 22:34Speaker 1: without even saying, hey, did you say these things about me,
- 22:38Speaker 1: just accuses her. She doesn't see him again until the wedding,
- 22:41Speaker 1: which he shows up in like smoothly slow dances and
- 22:44Speaker 1: apologizes and she's like, is all right, Yeah, I don't
- 22:48Speaker 1: care that there's only thirty seconds such in this movie,
- 22:50Speaker 1: and we gotta wrap it up. Make him work for it,
- 22:53Speaker 1: because that is setting a precedent that he is going
- 22:56Speaker 1: to make assumptions and jump to conclusions and not just
- 22:59Speaker 1: have a comversation with you. Yeah, I hear you. But
- 23:03Speaker 1: I also think that there was an opportunity for her
- 23:05Speaker 1: to be like, what are you talking about? Like when
- 23:08Speaker 1: they're standing outside of the car, like they just had
- 23:10Speaker 1: this moment the night before, they fully smooched before wait
- 23:13Speaker 1: before the end of the movie. Yes, and then she
- 23:15Speaker 1: gives him like this awkward like hug goodbye. She could
- 23:19Speaker 1: have stained like what are you talking about? Yes? What
- 23:21Speaker 1: are you talking about? Yes? I agree that it belongs
- 23:25Speaker 1: on him, Yes, but yeah, if it were me, I'd
- 23:28Speaker 1: be like, why are you so mad at me? Yeah?
- 23:30Speaker 1: What's wrong with you? What's up your ass? Yeah? All
- 23:33Speaker 1: those things? Yeah, all of those things. Okay, I have
- 23:36Speaker 1: one more wished for. Stop with the run around with
- 23:41Speaker 1: this couple. You know, when they were coming to town
- 23:44Speaker 1: to see the cottage and yeah, obviously the cottage is
- 23:47Speaker 1: not ready to be seen, so they hyjinks it up.
- 23:50Speaker 1: Just tell their adults. I'm sure if you say, look,
- 23:54Speaker 1: the wedding cottage was not in a state that we
- 23:57Speaker 1: could have your beautiful wedding. But look at it, we're progressing.
- 24:01Speaker 1: Is going to happen. You're not paying for this wedding.
- 24:04Speaker 1: Look at these renovations we did on our own dollar
- 24:06Speaker 1: to give you this perfect wedding. Stop stop well again,
- 24:11Speaker 1: this is another one of those there would have been
- 24:13Speaker 1: no movie. But at what point do you, as the
- 24:16Speaker 1: wedding plan, are providing this free experience to this couple
- 24:19Speaker 1: not say like, I'm sorry that venu is no longer open.
- 24:23Speaker 1: You're going to have to choose another venue for your
- 24:25Speaker 1: free wedding. Yeah, I know. And really she's taking Vanessa's taking,
- 24:30Speaker 1: like paying the bill for all of these like renovations
- 24:34Speaker 1: to a property, money making none and I can tell
- 24:40Speaker 1: you what our maids and she's new, not none. This
- 24:45Speaker 1: is the difference between her personality and mind. Because if
- 24:48Speaker 1: I had shown up there and he'd been like, yeah,
- 24:50Speaker 1: it's closed and I have no one just real, I'd
- 24:52Speaker 1: like by and I would have made a phone call.
- 24:54Speaker 1: I've been like, I'm sorry, you need to pick another venue,
- 24:58Speaker 1: one that has availability in the next five weeks when
- 25:00Speaker 1: it doesn't have cobwebs growing from the corners are seriously,
- 25:04Speaker 1: you know a family of raccoons living in it ready
- 25:07Speaker 1: for you? Did you see that? Yeah? I do? Okay,
- 25:09Speaker 1: yeah I am. I only have one. And I wish
- 25:14Speaker 1: that I was taking notes while watching, because I know
- 25:16Speaker 1: that there were several but this is the only one
- 25:18Speaker 1: that comes to see the kind of thing you admit
- 25:20Speaker 1: as a professional Hallmark movie reviewer. Okay, then cut that out. Look,
- 25:26Speaker 1: I had to watch this. In parts I came off
- 25:29Speaker 1: of like a fourteen hour travel day to watch this
- 25:33Speaker 1: movie three days later. By the way, it's called jet
- 25:36Speaker 1: lag anyway, and an early saint. Vanessa's on the video
- 25:41Speaker 1: call with the couple. She has like her a bag
- 25:45Speaker 1: as a lower back support in her chair, like a purse,
- 25:49Speaker 1: like a briefcase. I'm like, what the hell is happening here? Like,
- 25:53Speaker 1: why did they do that? I don't know. It was
- 25:55Speaker 1: definitely like a why am I seeing cachet bag? It
- 26:03Speaker 1: look like a carry on bag, like right supporting her back.
- 26:06Speaker 1: I was like, I'm at case for oh my goodness, Cachet,
- 26:13Speaker 1: But what the hell is that? Okay, and I have
- 26:17Speaker 1: I have a question. Okay, who writes wedding guides anymore?
- 26:21Speaker 1: I know she had a website too. When I was
- 26:24Speaker 1: planning my wedding twenty two years ago. Yes, there were
- 26:27Speaker 1: books that had like locations, but now there's the Internet. Yeah,
- 26:30Speaker 1: and information, as evidenced in this movie is constantly changing,
- 26:34Speaker 1: So you want the ability like your guide is outdated
- 26:37Speaker 1: the second you publish it. Wait. I can understand publishing
- 26:40Speaker 1: a wedding planning how to guide because while that may
- 26:45Speaker 1: need some updates, there's value in that. But yeah, all
- 26:49Speaker 1: the locations all the vendors, all of that needs to
- 26:52Speaker 1: go on a website. It is completely useless. People need
- 26:55Speaker 1: a link to click. I agree, so bad business model.
- 27:01Speaker 1: So this is a scene that I thought was interesting
- 27:04Speaker 1: when I was watching it, and all credit goes to
- 27:07Speaker 1: listener Mike for pointing out the reason why that the
- 27:09Speaker 1: connection I did not make, and that's the nightcap scene
- 27:12Speaker 1: when Vanessa invites me in for a nightcap. Tell me more.
- 27:15Speaker 1: And then Mike's like, are the Hallmark Movies producers playing
- 27:19Speaker 1: with us? Because this is like a you know, in
- 27:22Speaker 1: older movies, they would let you know that the sex
- 27:26Speaker 1: had happened. Why, they would smoke a cigarette right, yes,
- 27:30Speaker 1: And then we would use the term nightcap as like
- 27:32Speaker 1: a euphemism, like do you want to come up and
- 27:34Speaker 1: get naked? Right Netflix and chill? Yes? Okay, like that
- 27:38Speaker 1: when someone says you want to come in for a nightcap,
- 27:40Speaker 1: that's what they mean. Yeah. Was Hallmark trying to allude
- 27:45Speaker 1: to something more than a kiss on the cheap? Perhaps
- 27:50Speaker 1: I thought it was nice inside and I'm watching it
- 27:54Speaker 1: with those eyes. Look, I believe it. I believe that
- 27:56Speaker 1: they had that chemistry. That's so funny because I'm such
- 27:59Speaker 1: a dummy her nightcap. I go, I would never invite
- 28:02Speaker 1: anybody else. I don't know what the state of my
- 28:03Speaker 1: own was like. And I don't have anything to serve
- 28:05Speaker 1: to drink. So oh I always think that too. People
- 28:08Speaker 1: invite some women for a drink. I'm like, God, I
- 28:10Speaker 1: would have nothing. You get like a liquor bar cart, seriously,
- 28:14Speaker 1: like I don't. Maybe I have a Lacroix, a mini coke.
- 28:19Speaker 1: But she was looking to get freaking when I worry
- 28:24Speaker 1: about inviting, I worry about inviting someone because you don't
- 28:30Speaker 1: know this person. This is why I would not be
- 28:32Speaker 1: a good dater in the twenty twenty. They would not
- 28:36Speaker 1: be dropping me off that hole. There's no a or
- 28:39Speaker 1: like going home with someone from a bar at the inn.
- 28:44Speaker 1: Oh yes, where's hearing a night cap at the inn?
- 28:47Speaker 1: She was at the banb. She's just going up to
- 28:49Speaker 1: her room, like from the mini bar. They were definitely
- 28:53Speaker 1: going out. They were going in for a night cap.
- 28:59Speaker 1: We've blown the lib wide off this thing. My gosh,
- 29:02Speaker 1: oh my goodness. Are you ready to rate the Wedding Cottage?
- 29:06Speaker 1: I am. I gave it three point seven five stars before. Wow, nice,
- 29:11Speaker 1: this is a good movie. I liked it. Good movie,
- 29:13Speaker 1: watch it again. Still to come This week from Girls

- 29:32Speaker 1: to your recap going good. I figured I can't get
- 29:34Speaker 1: excited about that show. I'm sorry. My recap was so
- 29:37Speaker 1: comprehensive you don't even need to watch the show. Fantastic.
