- 0:01Exodus chapter 30, let us pray. Our Father who's in heaven, we
- 0:07thank you God for another day to come and worship you in spirit
- 0:11and truth. We thank you God, for the
- 0:14ultimate sacrifice of Jesus Christ covering us.
- 0:17God, from the top of our head to the bottom of our feet.
- 0:21Lord, we run into the throne room to the most holiest of holy
- 0:25places. God, we dine and we Sup with
- 0:28you. You are our King.
- 0:30You are our Lord. You are everything.
- 0:33You're the highest and the loftiest.
- 0:35God, you are seated above all of creation.
- 0:41We set our minds upon you. We set our eyes upon you.
- 0:46We set our intellect and our emotions and our will upon you.
- 0:50God and God alone, we thank you for conviction.
- 0:56We thank you, God, that you don't leave us out there.
- 1:01We thank you that you welcome us, Father.
- 1:04We thank you, Lord, that you come just like the Good
- 1:08Shepherd, Lord, you leave the 99 board to come and to find us.
- 1:14We thank you for giving us a reason to live to know you
- 1:19Father, to seek you Lord to find out all of your unsearchable
- 1:24ways. Lord, you are the hidden
- 1:28treasure chest in the field. God, we sell everything for you.
- 1:32God open up the windows of heaven and fling out blessings.
- 1:39God shower us with your presence.
- 1:42It's in King Jesus is holy and precious and powerful name that
- 1:46I pray men. Well, let's start in verse one.
- 1:54And they shall make an altar to burn incense upon of Acacia
- 2:00wood. You shall make it.
- 2:02So here you need to know that God's about to give some more
- 2:05measurements. He's about to give some more
- 2:08requirements and he's going to be able to identify those who
- 2:13can build this Tabernacle of meeting exactly to the exact
- 2:19specifications that he's going to outline here in this chapter.
- 2:242A cubit shall be the length of it, and a cubit the breadth of
- 2:29it. 4 squares shall it be, and two cubits shall be the height
- 2:34of it, and the horns shall be of the same.
- 2:37So this was 18 inches by 18 inches by three feet tall,
- 2:42friends. Three.
- 2:45And you shall overlay it with pure gold, and top thereof the
- 2:49size thereof, and round them out in the horns of it.
- 2:53And you shall make unto it a crown of gold round and about.
- 2:56So this was Speaking of the royalty of this gold and this
- 3:01crown for and two golden rings shall you make to it under the
- 3:06crown of it by the two corners of it, by the two sides, and it
- 3:10shall make it, and they shall be places for the Staffs to bear it
- 3:16with all. So here it was not to be treated
- 3:20as an unholy thing. They were to have reverence for
- 3:24this article that was going to go right outside of the holiest
- 3:29of holy places. Five And you shall make the
- 3:35Staffs of Acacia wood and overlay them with gold. 6 And
- 3:40you shall put it before the veil, that is by the ark of the
- 3:44testimony, before the mercy seat that is over the testimony,
- 3:48where I will meet with you. So God's Shekinah, glory,
- 3:52manifest presence is going to come down into the most holiest
- 3:56of holy places. And we know that Jesus, when he
- 3:59died on the cross, a criminal's death, the veil ripped from top
- 4:03to bottom to allow us access into this place. 7 And Aaron
- 4:10shall burn their own sweet incense every morning when he
- 4:14dresses the lamps, he shall burn incense upon it.
- 4:17It's all pointing towards Calvary.
- 4:20And they were to learn all of these ways to respect and to
- 4:25have reverence and to actually understand the price of Jesus's
- 4:32sacrifice. Nine, you shall offer no strange
- 4:36incense there on, nor burnt sacrifice, nor meat offerings,
- 4:42neither shall you pour drink offerings on it.
- 4:45So this was just a place to burn the incense, but there was to be
- 4:50no strange fire to be put upon it.
- 4:53And it was only the prescribed incense that God is going to
- 4:59outline here in this chapter. 10 And Aaron shall make an
- 5:03atonement upon the horns of it once in a year, with the blood
- 5:08of the sin offerings of atonements.
- 5:10Once in a year shall he make atonement upon it throughout
- 5:14your generations. It is most holy unto the Lord.
- 5:17So only the high priest was to put the blood on it, to make it
- 5:24at one with God. 11 And the Lord spoke unto Moses, saying, 12
- 5:30When you take the sum of the children of Israel after their
- 5:33number, then shall they give every man a ransom for his soul
- 5:38unto the Lord. When you number them there, that
- 5:42there be no plague among them when you number them.
- 5:46So we see here that God is going to get together the appropriate
- 5:54amount of funds to be able to keep this thing going, and He's
- 6:01going to make it an equal playing field.
- 6:04No one gets left out, No one has to give more or less.
- 6:08It is a flat amount for every single male 20 years and over 13
- 6:18And they shall give everyone that passes among them that are
- 6:21numbered half a shekel. After the shekel of the
- 6:24sanctuary. A shekel is 20 gerhas and half a
- 6:28shekel shall be the offering of the Lord. 14 Everyone that
- 6:34passes among them that are numbered from 20 years old and
- 6:38above shall give an offering unto the Lord.
- 6:40So this was roughly a an amount that they were to come and give
- 6:50a flat amount. And in our currency it would be
- 6:55about $15 friends. And so no matter if you were
- 7:01super wealthy, it was still the same.
- 7:05But if you were very poor, it was still the same.
- 7:08Anyone who was 20 years and over was to give this amount. 14
- 7:16Everyone that passes among them that are numbered from 20 years
- 7:19old and above shall give an offering to the Lord. 15 The
- 7:22rich shall not give more, and the poor shall not give less
- 7:26than half the shekel, when they give an offering unto the Lord
- 7:29to make an atonement for your souls.
- 7:32So this was for them to understand that in God's eyes
- 7:35they are all on an equal playing field.
- 7:39No one is greater and no one is lesser in the eyes of God.
- 7:46We need to understand that every single man, woman and child is
- 7:51made in the image of God. We need to understand,
- 7:58regardless of creed, nationality, regardless of
- 8:02tongue, we are His masterpiece. 16 And you shall take the
- 8:09atonement money of the children of Israel, and shall appoint it
- 8:13for the service of the Tabernacle of the congregation.
- 8:17And it may be a memorial unto the children of Israel before
- 8:21the Lord to make an atonement for your souls.
- 8:24So God wants to make them at one with him, and how he does it is
- 8:28He gets them to come before him, and to acknowledge that they
- 8:33belong unto Him. 17 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 18 And
- 8:39you shall also make a lava of breasts of brass, and his foot
- 8:44also of brass, to wash outside, and you shall put it between the
- 8:49Tabernacle of the congregation and the altar, and you shall put
- 8:53water in it. So we need to understand that
- 8:57the cleansed are those who worship, and we have been
- 9:02cleansed by the blood of Jesus Christ and the water that gushed
- 9:06out of his side, friends. And now we can come unto God and
- 9:10to worship him in spirit and truth. 19 For Aaron and his Son
- 9:14shall wash their hands and their feet there at 20 And when they
- 9:22go into the Tabernacle of the congregation, they shall not
- 9:25wash with water that they die not, they shall wash with water
- 9:31that they die not. And when they come near to the
- 9:34altar to minister, to burn offering made by fire unto the
- 9:38Lord. So here we need to understand
- 9:41that they had to be cleansed in order to go in and to worship.
- 9:45And we know that when Jesus walked this earth, that we see
- 9:51Mary Bethany come and wash His feet with her tears, friends.
- 9:56We see her anoint Him with the alabaster jar, and we see that
- 10:01this is all synonymous. And God wants us to be cleansed
- 10:05by the washing of the water of the Word over our minds, and to
- 10:09be renewed friends, and to be restored unto Him. 21 So they
- 10:18shall wash their hands and their feet, that they die not, and
- 10:21they shall be a statue forever, even to him, and to his Son's
- 10:25seed throughout their generations. 22 Moreover the
- 10:30Lord spoke unto Moses, saying, 23 Take you also unto you a
- 10:36principal spices of pure mirror 500 shekels, and sweet cinnamon
- 10:42half so much even 250 shekels, and of sweet calamus 250
- 10:48shekels. 24 And of cash of 500 shekels.
- 10:52And after the shekel of the sanctuary in an and of oil of
- 10:58olive a hen. 25 And you shall make it oil of holy ointment,
- 11:04anointment compound after the art of apothecary, it shall be a
- 11:09holy anointing oil. So we can see that not only did
- 11:15the cleansed come to worship God, but also the anointed.
- 11:19And we see that any time in Scripture that this oil is
- 11:23referenced, it is synonymous with the outpouring of the Holy
- 11:26Spirit upon us. 26 And you shall anoint the Tabernacle of the
- 11:33congregation therewith, and the ark of the testimony. 27 and the
- 11:37table, and all his vessels, and the Candlestick, and his
- 11:42vessels, and the altar of incense, 28 and the altar of
- 11:46burnt offerings, with all his vessels, and the lava, and his
- 11:50foot. 29 And you shall sanctify them, that they may be most
- 11:55holy. Whatsoever touches them shall be
- 11:58holy. So anything that the Holy Spirit
- 12:01comes and touches is anointed, and it is holy unto God. 30 And
- 12:09you shall anoint Aaron and his sons, and consecrate them, that
- 12:13they may minister unto me in the priest's office. 31 And you
- 12:16shall speak unto the children of Israel, saying, This shall be a
- 12:21holy anointing oil unto me throughout your generations. 32
- 12:26Upon man's flesh shall it not be poured, neither shall you make
- 12:30any other like it after the composition of it.
- 12:34It is holy, and it shall be holy unto you. 33 Whosoever compounds
- 12:41any like it, and whosoever puts any of it upon a stranger, shall
- 12:45be cut off from his people. So God took this recipe very
- 12:50seriously. He told them the exact
- 12:53measurements of how they were to put this fragrance and this
- 12:57incense together. And it was not to be used for
- 13:01profane things. It was to be revered as holy
- 13:05unto God and pleasing in the nostrils of a holy God. 34 And
- 13:12the Lord said to Moses, Take unto you sweet spices, stack
- 13:17anca galbum, these sweet spices, pure frankincense.
- 13:22Each shall be of a like weight. 35 and you shall make a perfume,
- 13:28a confection after the art of apothecary, tempered together,
- 13:32pure and holy. Can you see the spikenard being
- 13:38poured out on Jesus as he goes to the cross, smelling of it and
- 13:43being anointed? And God here in this chapter
- 13:46wanted the Israelites to know that He took it very seriously,
- 13:51and they were not to just do it haphazardly.
- 13:55It was pure, and it was holy unto God. 36 And you shall beat
- 14:00some of it very small, and put of it before the testimony in
- 14:04the Tabernacle of the congregation, where I will meet
- 14:07with you, and it shall be unto you most holy.
- 14:11So this was a reminder unto the Israelites of their prayers
- 14:15going up as a sweet aroma unto God.
- 14:19And we know that the prayers of the Saints are what please God,
- 14:23as He smells them. Friends, do not withhold your
- 14:26prayer life from God. God will increase all of the
- 14:35tribulation your life in order to get more prayers out of you.
- 14:38Friends, do it when the chips are high and everything is good.
- 14:42Do not wait for the tragedy to come. 37 And As for the perfume
- 14:52which you shall make, you shall not make it to yourselves
- 14:55according to the composition of it.
- 14:57It shall be unto you, holy for the Lord we'll end on. 38
- 15:02Whosoever shall make like unto that to smell thereto shall even
- 15:08be cut off from his people. So here God is telling them that
- 15:16this recipe of perfume, this recipe of incense was to only be
- 15:23used in the worship and in the consecration of His people as a
- 15:29holy and pleasing aroma unto God.
- 15:32What an amazing God we serve that even hijacks our senses and
- 15:38cares about how things smell. You know, He didn't have to make
- 15:42the world the way that He did. You know that He chose to give
- 15:48us our senses so that we can experience Him in all facets of
- 15:54all things, through intellect and through reason, through
- 15:58science of discovering things. He gave us all of the senses to
- 16:04be able to touch and to see and to smell Him and His creation
- 16:08and all of creation proclaims His name.
- 16:11So that man is without excuse. You're not going to be able to
- 16:14get to God one day and say, I did not know because He gave you
- 16:19enough all around you to discover that there is a Creator
- 16:24and we are His creation and we get out of our own way and we
- 16:28give Him all honor and due praise.
- 16:30I hope you've been blessed by this amazing chapter in God's
- 16:33Word. I know I sure have.
- 16:35I'm praying for every single one of you.
- 16:39I love you. We'll see you back here
- 16:43tomorrow. God bless you.
