Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome into the locker room. It is
• 0:01
Speaker 1: college football. It is week eight. We just had quite
• 0:04
Speaker 1: possibly the greatest weekend of college football in week seven.
• 0:08
Speaker 1: We got another great slate for you. But as always, FanDuel,
• 0:11
Speaker 1: it's your most rewarding season yet. And there's a reason
• 0:13
Speaker 1: why people who leave their Twitter username in the comments
• 0:17
Speaker 1: of this YouTube have an opportunity to be chosen. for
• 0:21
Speaker 1: bonus bets via FanDuel. Now here's a little caveat I
• 0:24
Speaker 1: want to give you people. If you're chosen, for the
• 0:27
Speaker 1: love of God, respond to DMs. If you don't respond
• 0:30
Speaker 1: to DMs, FanDuel can't make you your most rewarded season ever.
• 0:32
Speaker 1: They're missing money. You're going to lose out on money.
• 0:35
Speaker 1: I'll tell you who's not going to lose out on money.
• 0:36
Speaker 1: The one guy. that responded to DMs. That'd be Scuba
• 0:40
Speaker 1: Steve 22. Round of applause. Scuba Steve. The opportunity today
• 0:46
Speaker 1: to have $ 3, 000. Scuba Steve, we're taking your coin right here.
• 0:50
Speaker 1: We're going to put it on this little board. We're
• 0:52
Speaker 1: going to put it down. I'm praying to God I
• 0:54
Speaker 1: can get you a thousand every single time. But we
• 0:56
Speaker 1: got bonus bets all around, fellas. Hey, here we go.
• 0:58
Speaker 1: This is the biggest part of the show. This is
• 1:00
Speaker 1: the biggest part of the show. Leave your Twitter username
• 1:04
Speaker 1: in the comments section. In the comments section. Scuba Steve.
• 1:08
Speaker 1: Scuba Steve. Let's go, babe. Scuba Steve. Scuba Steve. 500
• 1:15
Speaker 1: hours for Scuba Steve. 500. He gets all three rolls. Again,
• 1:20
Speaker 1: people messing with their money. Hit me with it again, fellas.
• 1:22
Speaker 1: Check your DMs. Scuba Steve. Scuba Steve.
• 1:25
  Speaker 2: 22.
• 1:25
  Speaker 1: Scuba Steve.
• 1:26
  Speaker 2: 22.
• 1:26
  Speaker 1: Scuba Steve.
• 1:26
  Speaker 3: 22.
• 1:26
Speaker 1: Scuba Steve. Reroll. Pandemonium. All right, we won't do it again.
• 1:38
Speaker 1: It's fine. 250. That one didn't count. Why? Just didn't count.
• 1:45
Speaker 1: It popped up. It popped up. You see how it popped?
• 1:47
Speaker 1: It kind of popped up and out. It popped up
• 1:49
Speaker 1: and out. That one didn't count. Redo it. Redo the roll. Oh, no.
• 1:52
  Speaker 1: Don't mess with the board, bro. $ 5, 000. He's got $ 1, 000
• 1:57
Speaker 1: so far. $ 1, 000 for Scuba Steve because all he did
• 2:02
Speaker 1: was put his Twitter username in the comment section and
• 2:05
Speaker 1: then responded to a DM via FanDuel. Come on, Scuba Steve.
• 2:08
  Speaker 2: $ 1, 000.
• 2:13
Speaker 1: For Scuba Steve! For Scuba Steve 22, we have a
• 2:15
Speaker 1: great show for you. We're going to look back at
• 2:17
Speaker 1: some of our futures and then look to the future
• 2:19
Speaker 1: a little bit about what's breaking down in these massive conferences.
• 2:22
Speaker 1: Let's have a hell of a show. Touchdown! Welcome to
• 2:40
Speaker 1: another episode of Locker Room.
• 2:41
Speaker 2: As always, we are presented by the FanDuel Sportsbook. Before
• 2:44
Speaker 2: we get into all the sports, all the fun, all
• 2:46
Speaker 2: the goodies, make sure to stay responsible. There's a responsible
• 2:49
Speaker 2: gaming section in the app. Or you can go to
• 2:51
Speaker 2: FanDuel.com slash play with a plan. Guys, I'm looking at it.
• 2:55
Speaker 2: Against the spread, our 10 picks against the spread.
• 2:58
Speaker 1: Taylor, me and you, we needed.
• 3:00
Speaker 2: Three correct picks. Josh, you scooped four in the most
• 3:03
Speaker 2: chaotic weekend of college football. Guys, we're talking about these
• 3:05
Speaker 2: 10 against the spread picks going 30%, going 40%. All
• 3:08
Speaker 2: you have to do, it is for free. You go
• 3:12
Speaker 2: on FanDuel. There's no wager involved. You can bet 10
• 3:15
Speaker 2: games against a spread if you beat any one of us.
• 3:18
Speaker 2: So if you would have won four last week, you
• 3:21
Speaker 2: would have earned a profit boost token. Nearly or over
• 3:23
Speaker 2: 100,000 people earned a profit boost token. And then I
• 3:26
Speaker 2: want to say over 100 people.
• 3:30
  Speaker 1: 127.
• 3:31
Speaker 2: 127 people got 10 out of 10 right. And they
• 3:33
Speaker 2: split a share of a half a million dollar jackpot.
• 3:36
Speaker 2: That was around what, four grand?
• 3:38
Speaker 1: Each person won $ 3, 937. Basically four grand. And then Scuba
• 3:44
  Speaker 1: Steve just got.
• 3:45
Speaker 2: Imagine this past weekend we just had in college football
• 3:49
Speaker 2: and going 10 for 10 against the spread.
• 3:51
Speaker 1: That's, yeah, we have to look into what's going on there.
• 3:54
Speaker 1: There might have to be an investigation that takes place.
• 3:57
Speaker 2: And all people have to simply do is go on
• 3:59
  Speaker 2: a fan duel. FanDuel's college football pick-em. You bet 10
• 4:05
Speaker 2: games against the spread. You beat any of us, profit
• 4:07
Speaker 2: boost token. You go 10 out of 10, you win
• 4:09
  Speaker 2: a share of $ 500, 000. FanDuel.com slash.
• 4:14
Speaker 1: Damn. Slash Bustin'. Oh, that's what we missed. It's a
• 4:21
Speaker 1: tough word to remember. There's some that are BWTB. Mm-hmm.
• 4:25
Speaker 1: And then you got Boston, which I should have just known.
• 4:27
Speaker 1: And for the audience, you always want to have clarity,
• 4:29
Speaker 1: so that's good. All right, this Ford leaderboard segment is
• 4:31
Speaker 1: presented by, you guessed it, Ford. A hard day's work
• 4:34
Speaker 1: starts with one thing, someone willing to do it. And
• 4:36
  Speaker 1: where there's a will, there's a Ford F-Series truck. Here
• 4:40
Speaker 1: it is. Last week, fellas. Merc. I mean, you've been
• 4:47
Speaker 1: forged in this fire, Will. I've had two weekends worse
• 4:49
Speaker 1: than what I just had. Yeah, that's nothing. It could
• 4:52
Speaker 1: have been worse, though. Yeah. I won last week. Yeah,
• 4:55
Speaker 1: you won last week. You were 1-0 on the season.
• 4:58
Speaker 1: Down five units. That's bad. Taylor lost 10. Josh, 13.
• 5:03
Speaker 4: It's my first losing week.
• 5:06
  Speaker 1: Yeah, but 13. Yeah, I made it count. It's a
• 5:09
Speaker 1: big losing week. Yeah. Only up, what am I? 27 units.
• 5:12
Speaker 1: Plus 27 on the season. People are out there saying
• 5:14
Speaker 1: you don't know ball now.
• 5:15
Speaker 4: Well, the bad part is you know good and well
• 5:17
Speaker 4: there are people out there who waited half of the
• 5:19
Speaker 4: year to see who they think is legit. And then
• 5:22
Speaker 4: they said, oh, this dude's up 40. I'll follow him
• 5:24
Speaker 4: this week. Someone out there is down 13 units on
• 5:27
  Speaker 4: the season.
• 5:27
Speaker 1: Yeah, that's tough. That's the hard part about jumping on
• 5:30
Speaker 1: the bandwagon. Are you the guy that finally tips it
• 5:33
Speaker 1: over and you're overweight?
• 5:34
Speaker 4: What if someone tailed you to start the year and
• 5:37
Speaker 4: you got them down 30 and then they just waited
• 5:39
Speaker 4: a couple of weeks and then they tailed me. And
• 5:42
Speaker 4: so someone out there has tailed a combination of you
• 5:44
Speaker 4: and me at the wrong time.
• 5:45
  Speaker 1: And they're down like 60. There's someone out there's losing
• 5:47
Speaker 1: their mind. Yeah. Yeah. There's somebody out there that's crushing
• 5:51
Speaker 1: it right now too. You talked about how many people
• 5:53
Speaker 1: got 10 perfect picks against the spread in this chaotic
• 5:56
Speaker 1: of a week. Yeah. In your, in your time of
• 5:58
Speaker 1: enjoying college football, have you ever noticed, have you ever
• 6:00
Speaker 1: had a weekend like this past weekend?
• 6:02
Speaker 4: No, I would say that's up there. I was trying
• 6:04
Speaker 4: to think. The totality of the 07 season was like that.
• 6:08
Speaker 4: I think it was the number two team that fell
• 6:11
Speaker 4: like seven or eight weeks of the season. But just
• 6:14
Speaker 4: like overall top 10 teams all falling same day. And
• 6:19
Speaker 4: then the way it was spread out. So the way
• 6:21
Speaker 4: the day went, we were at the Indiana game, Indiana-Ohio State,
• 6:23
Speaker 4: and that game ends crazily. And then it was one
• 6:26
Speaker 4: of those things where you're driving home, you got the
• 6:28
Speaker 4: YouTube TV playing, but you're listening to it like a
• 6:31
Speaker 4: radio feed because you can't watch it. So you've got Florida, Tennessee.
• 6:35
Speaker 4: I thought Texas, or Florida, Texas, I thought Texas was
• 6:38
Speaker 4: going to run away with that because it was 17-3 early.
• 6:40
Speaker 1: That was when they were back on track. We were
• 6:42
Speaker 1: at the activation during that and we're watching like, oh,
• 6:44
  Speaker 1: it's going to be a splatter. There's a future Josh
• 6:46
  Speaker 1: Pate splattering tweet.
• 6:47
Speaker 4: Yeah, I didn't know that one of the touchdowns was
• 6:49
Speaker 4: special teams at the time. I thought Arch was just
• 6:51
Speaker 4: carving them up because it's the 131st ranked secondary in
• 6:54
Speaker 4: the country. Anyway, so that comeback happens and then that
• 6:57
Speaker 4: gets you primed for the mid-afternoon windows and then Tennessee
• 7:00
Speaker 4: Bama goes down and Auburn, Georgia goes down after Georgia's
• 7:04
Speaker 4: up 14-0 early. So that was Texas and Georgia both
• 7:06
Speaker 4: get up two touchdowns, and you kind of subconsciously flip
• 7:09
Speaker 4: it off, and then they end up both losing. And, like,
• 7:12
Speaker 4: I wonder this. If you're a Notre Dame fan, you
• 7:15
Speaker 4: know how days work in theme. Like, in college football,
• 7:18
Speaker 4: you can tell when it's a volcanic Saturday. It's a big,
• 7:20
Speaker 4: upset Saturday. Do you really want to be taking the
• 7:24
Speaker 4: field in Provo, Utah, as a 10-and-a-half-point favorite with all
• 7:27
Speaker 4: just the smoldering rubble in the 12 and 330 games?
• 7:29
  Speaker 3: Mm-hmm.
• 7:31
Speaker 1: I don't know, but they found out too. And knowing
• 7:33
Speaker 1: that it's all lies on Notre Dame that night. And
• 7:37
Speaker 1: then you lose. Because people are putting the fraud alert out.
• 7:40
Speaker 1: And a comment you made on Get Up was, it's
• 7:42
Speaker 1: better for Notre Dame to win this game 27-10 as
• 7:46
Speaker 1: opposed to like 43-10. Like where it's an absolute blow
• 7:49
Speaker 1: because then it turns into, well, BYU's just not this good.
• 7:51
  Speaker 4: Yeah, and I don't actually believe that myself. I wouldn't
• 7:53
Speaker 4: have viewed them that way. But Greeny was asking about narrative.
• 7:57
Speaker 4: And that was going to happen. Like if Notre Dame
• 7:59
Speaker 4: won that game, 21-13 or something like that. It could
• 8:03
Speaker 4: have looked just like it looked the other night. Really,
• 8:05
Speaker 4: really hard-fought grinder of a game. You couldn't see through
• 8:08
Speaker 4: Brigham Young the other night. They played phenomenally. That wasn't very,
• 8:11
Speaker 4: very paper-tiger type performance. But if Notre Dame went out
• 8:15
Speaker 4: there and won 43-0, everyone would just say they were
• 8:18
Speaker 4: a fraudulent Big 12 team. They were ranked in AP
• 8:22
Speaker 4: poll number only. They weren't legit. And they still would
• 8:25
Speaker 4: have been looking towards that Miami game as that's your
• 8:27
  Speaker 4: one test.
• 8:28
Speaker 1: But... There was a third possibility in the room. That
• 8:31
Speaker 1: no one talked about. They could just lose. Yeah. They
• 8:33
Speaker 1: could just lose. Which is wild. Bear Bachmeier could throw
• 8:36
Speaker 1: for him. He could run for him. He could catch him.
• 8:38
Speaker 4: That's like singularly one of the great performances we'll see
• 8:41
  Speaker 4: all year.
• 8:42
Speaker 2: We need him to get back out on that field
• 8:45
Speaker 2: and play that final second.
• 8:47
Speaker 1: You're going to go there, huh? You're going to go there.
• 8:49
Speaker 1: They had to find a second somewhere, right? Dude, I mean,
• 8:52
Speaker 1: there was a second on the clock. I've got some
• 8:54
Speaker 1: news if you would like me to. Is this grenade news?
• 8:57
Speaker 1: This is, yeah. Is it actual news that you can
• 8:59
  Speaker 1: say out loud?
• 9:00
Speaker 4: I can't get specific on it. I can show you
• 9:02
Speaker 4: two something right quick. So last night I do my show.
• 9:06
Speaker 4: I talked about officiating in what I thought was a
• 9:08
Speaker 4: responsible manner. I'm not going to say which league, but
• 9:13
Speaker 4: a certain head official from a league.
• 9:17
Speaker 1: Oh my God. Just gave some feedback. Gave some feedback.
• 9:22
Speaker 1: How many caps and exclamation points were in that text?
• 9:24
Speaker 1: It was really constructive. Okay.
• 9:27
Speaker 4: When you talk to these officials, we talk to them
• 9:29
Speaker 4: pregame sometimes. We'll be out on the field and we'll
• 9:31
Speaker 4: talk to them pregame. I can't tell you how many
• 9:32
Speaker 4: times officials have come up. Apparently, they all watch the show.
• 9:36
Speaker 4: And one of them will come up every now and then,
• 9:38
Speaker 4: probably seven or eight times a year. More times than not,
• 9:40
Speaker 4: I'll talk to an official before a game. And they'll say,
• 9:43
Speaker 4: I liked about 70% of what you said the other day.
• 9:47
Speaker 4: here's what you need to know. And so they'll kind
• 9:49
Speaker 4: of make their case. And a lot of times when
• 9:51
Speaker 4: they're making their case, they'll just say, we screwed up.
• 9:53
Speaker 4: There was punishment dealt behind the scenes the public doesn't
• 9:56
Speaker 4: know about. But then there'll be other times where they'll say,
• 9:59
Speaker 4: here's kind of the machinations of it that you don't
• 10:01
Speaker 4: really know in fairness to you you couldn't know and
• 10:03
Speaker 4: then there are third times and this is what bothers
• 10:05
Speaker 4: me more where they'll just say what you don't understand
• 10:08
Speaker 4: is conference to conference we have different things that are
• 10:10
Speaker 4: emphasized we have different heads of officiating blah blah blah
• 10:13
Speaker 4: it makes no sense but with what you're talking about
• 10:16
Speaker 4: that's what angers people the most because that has nothing
• 10:19
Speaker 4: to do with any kind of conference by conference protocol.
• 10:22
Speaker 4: I'm pretty sure every conference emphasizes, make sure the game
• 10:25
Speaker 4: doesn't end until all the seconds have run off the clock.
• 10:28
Speaker 4: I'm pretty sure that's a rule in every conference. So
• 10:30
Speaker 4: that one is inexcusable.
• 10:32
Speaker 2: Are you able to, the punishments behind the scenes that
• 10:36
Speaker 2: nobody understands or sees, what are some of these punishments?
• 10:41
Speaker 1: And if they're making actual punishments, they shouldn't make them
• 10:43
Speaker 1: so people see, other than just letting like the public
• 10:46
  Speaker 1: just be outraged.
• 10:47
Speaker 4: That's my stance. I will tell you the pushback on that.
• 10:51
Speaker 4: The pushback is if you publicly label officials that have
• 10:56
Speaker 4: been dealt punishments, that have been demoted and stuff, they
• 10:59
Speaker 4: kind of get scarlet lettered for the rest of their career. Now,
• 11:03
Speaker 4: the obvious retort there is, okay, but if players screw up,
• 11:06
  Speaker 4: it's public knowledge.
• 11:07
Speaker 1: If coaches screw up, but I don't know.
• 11:10
Speaker 4: And I get their point. Even if I don't agree
• 11:12
Speaker 4: with it, I do get the viewpoint of the officiating
• 11:15
Speaker 4: mechanism probably has to be handled a little bit differently.
• 11:17
Speaker 4: Because if you're just doing the best you can and
• 11:20
Speaker 4: you screw a game up, and then you get punished
• 11:23
Speaker 4: and you get demoted, until the end of time, every
• 11:26
Speaker 4: game you're on thereafter... if I know Taylor LeJuan, that
• 11:30
Speaker 4: dude who messed that game up in week three of 2025,
• 11:33
Speaker 4: he's calling this game. Anytime something goes sideways, I just
• 11:36
Speaker 4: have it in the back of my mind. I wonder
• 11:37
Speaker 4: if something's up here. Whereas, you know, if a left
• 11:39
Speaker 4: tackle misses a block, my first thing I go to is, man,
• 11:43
Speaker 4: I wonder if he's on the take. I wonder if
• 11:44
Speaker 4: something's suspicious here. I just say, we got to look.
• 11:47
Speaker 1: At the number two. We got to see what the
• 11:49
Speaker 1: backup looks like. It's like the movie Rat Race. You
• 11:52
Speaker 1: remember that movie? It's a rat race situation. Yeah, it's
• 11:54
Speaker 1: a rat race situation. It's a rat race type situation. Yeah, that, yeah,
• 11:57
Speaker 1: the rat, the, The fact that we saw from multiple
• 12:01
Speaker 1: angles that there's one second left in that game and
• 12:03
Speaker 1: there was no one to raise anything. And then the
• 12:06
Speaker 1: conference that has the team that won the game is like,
• 12:10
Speaker 1: by the way, our bad. That's a mistake.
• 12:13
  Speaker 4: Yeah.
• 12:14
Speaker 1: They just follow. We're sorry. They kind of just followed
• 12:16
Speaker 1: the Big Ten playbook there. It's like, yeah, well, but
• 12:19
Speaker 1: it was like the exact opposite. We got to put
• 12:21
Speaker 1: an extra second on. Now there's clearly one second left.
• 12:24
Speaker 1: And was it pass interference? Because you're getting both of those.
• 12:26
Speaker 1: You have one last play from the three and a
• 12:28
Speaker 1: half yard line. Me personally, I'm thinking you let the
• 12:30
Speaker 1: boys play. Like the heat was kind of draped on them. However,
• 12:34
Speaker 1: in that big of a moment, do you really pull
• 12:36
Speaker 1: the laundry out? But to have one second clearly on
• 12:39
Speaker 1: and not just be like, all right, everybody get back
• 12:41
Speaker 1: on the field as well. Because I'm sitting there as
• 12:44
Speaker 1: the game's ending and I'm like, probably like an unintelligent
• 12:48
Speaker 1: amount of time sitting there waiting. They were like... Now
• 12:52
  Speaker 1: talking post-game, I'm like, I swear to God, they're going
• 12:55
Speaker 1: to be like, hey, we got to go back out
• 12:56
Speaker 1: there and do one more play.
• 12:57
Speaker 2: I didn't even notice the second until people were talking
• 12:59
Speaker 2: about it after. Because I was more like looking around
• 13:01
Speaker 2: the field if there's going to be laundry, given that
• 13:03
Speaker 2: it was a defensive pass interference.
• 13:05
Speaker 1: But yeah, I don't mind that they were like letting
• 13:07
  Speaker 1: the boys play.
• 13:08
Speaker 2: But then when people were talking about there was a second,
• 13:10
Speaker 2: second on TV, second on the scoreboard, all of it.
• 13:13
Speaker 1: I'm like, yo, what? You can't. They got another play. Right.
• 13:18
Speaker 1: And is that an officiating issue? Yes. Is it like
• 13:21
Speaker 1: the guys on the field that makes that a problem
• 13:23
Speaker 1: or is that people up in like for New York?
• 13:27
Speaker 1: Watching that because the official should be watching the.
• 13:30
Speaker 4: Play on the field Yeah, but that's someone in in
• 13:32
Speaker 4: the I think they're in the press box area like
• 13:34
Speaker 4: the timekeeper is Actually, let me not talk further than
• 13:38
Speaker 4: what I know where the official timekeeper is. It may
• 13:41
Speaker 4: be an official on the field. It's the official timekeeper.
• 13:44
Speaker 4: But there's someone up in the box. Like when they say, hey,
• 13:46
Speaker 4: please put 13 seconds back on the clock. They're doing
• 13:49
Speaker 4: that because whoever they're talking to is not on the field.
• 13:51
Speaker 4: They're up in the box. Having said that, I want
• 13:53
Speaker 4: to know when they realized it. Because the way officiating works,
• 13:57
Speaker 4: the fans don't get to see this, but we'll see
• 13:58
Speaker 4: it all the time. There are like two vans that
• 14:00
Speaker 4: back down the tunnel for every game. And as soon
• 14:03
Speaker 4: as the game ends, the officials run off the field.
• 14:05
Speaker 4: They get in those vans so they can get them
• 14:07
Speaker 4: out of there. Even in a normal game, much less
• 14:09
Speaker 4: a field storming game. So I picture them like driving
• 14:12
Speaker 4: to the airport and they're, guys, I think there.
• 14:17
Speaker 1: Was a second left. Yeah. Did we, did we miss something? Oh, well.
• 14:22
Speaker 1: And they just get on their plane. The legal put
• 14:24
Speaker 1: out a statement tomorrow.
• 14:25
  Speaker 5: Yeah.
• 14:25
  Speaker 1: We'll be fine. Because I don't blame the refs. I
• 14:27
Speaker 1: don't blame the guys actually wearing the zebra uniforms in
• 14:30
Speaker 1: that situation. I blame whoever else is supposed to be
• 14:32
Speaker 1: keeping the timekeeper. It's like a head coach. It's also
• 14:34
Speaker 1: taking on like office coordinator responsibilities. Like how much can
• 14:37
Speaker 1: you have on your plate before you miss something? For
• 14:39
Speaker 1: the refs, it's like everyone should have their specific job
• 14:41
Speaker 1: and focus solely on that one job. I'm sure there's
• 14:42
Speaker 1: a ref on the field that has some responsibility. I
• 14:45
  Speaker 1: know there is.
• 14:45
Speaker 4: It's just something I don't know about enough to comment.
• 14:47
Speaker 4: I know there is an official timekeeper though. I just
• 14:50
Speaker 4: want to know when they realized it. And what was
• 14:52
Speaker 4: funny is when the Western Michigan, Michigan thing happened, The
• 14:55
Speaker 4: whole world, absent Michigan fans, is pulling for the upset.
• 14:58
Speaker 4: And then the underdog is the one they perceive to
• 15:00
Speaker 4: be screwed. So there was like this national outrage for
• 15:03
Speaker 4: a week. However, Brigham Young ends up being the beneficiary.
• 15:07
Speaker 4: And the whole world hates Notre Dame. So they're like,
• 15:10
Speaker 4: you know, come on now.
• 15:11
Speaker 2: Let me drink your tears.
• 15:14
Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. They love to see the Blue Bloods
• 15:16
Speaker 1: go down, man. They salivate over it. Another Blue Blood
• 15:20
Speaker 1: that went down. I mean, Julian Sane.
• 15:23
  Speaker 2: Yeah.
• 15:23
Speaker 1: Out indefinitely. We were talking before. I'm like, is he
• 15:25
Speaker 1: done for the season? Is he not? People are saying, yes,
• 15:27
Speaker 1: he is, but it hasn't been confirmed. Where is Ohio
• 15:31
Speaker 1: State in your mind as far as how the rest
• 15:35
Speaker 1: of their season lines up? I think they're going to
• 15:36
  Speaker 1: miss the playoff.
• 15:37
Speaker 4: I think they're going to lose two more games and
• 15:38
  Speaker 4: miss the playoff.
• 15:39
Speaker 1: You really think? Because you just don't believe in the backup.
• 15:43
Speaker 1: You don't believe in the situation. When's the last time
• 15:44
Speaker 1: we've seen them lose multiple games in the regular season?
• 15:48
Speaker 4: Ten and two, the year you guys beat them and
• 15:50
Speaker 4: they won the national championships.
• 15:52
Speaker 1: The 23 or 24. My regular season for me is
• 15:54
Speaker 1: 11 games. Oh, my bad. And then the last game,
• 15:57
  Speaker 1: it's anybody's ball game. I don't know then. That's been
• 15:59
Speaker 1: a while. Because you think they're going to lose two more.
• 16:00
Speaker 1: What is their schedule the rest of the time? I
• 16:02
Speaker 1: know the guy. They go out to USC. They got Nebraska.
• 16:05
Speaker 1: They got Northwestern, Nebraska, Michigan. They got Oregon. It's a
• 16:08
  Speaker 1: tough slate.
• 16:09
Speaker 4: They got a bye week this week, but there is
• 16:11
Speaker 4: no soft stretch for them to work their way up
• 16:15
Speaker 4: to form. Hey, let me go ahead and offer this.
• 16:17
Speaker 4: Hats off to them for beating Indiana. Julian Sane didn't
• 16:20
Speaker 4: look good. They haven't rolled at all this year. Oh,
• 16:24
Speaker 4: but they can lean on a ground game.
• 16:25
  Speaker 1: No, they can't.
• 16:26
Speaker 4: Their ground game's not been nearly to the degree that
• 16:29
Speaker 4: I thought it would. What has been to the degree
• 16:31
Speaker 4: that everyone thought it would, and then some is defense.
• 16:33
Speaker 4: Or defense, not defense.
• 16:35
  Speaker 1: It sounded nice.
• 16:35
Speaker 4: The defense, the Ohio State defense, I love. Are they
• 16:40
Speaker 4: going to be able to ride that? And the other
• 16:42
Speaker 4: thing is, everyone just expected Tavian Sinclair to be the backup.
• 16:46
Speaker 4: And then, no, that's not who comes off the bench.
• 16:49
Speaker 4: And then Ryan Day says afterwards, well, he has since said,
• 16:52
Speaker 4: we're going to kind of split the reps with Tavian St.
• 16:55
Speaker 4: Clair and a dude whose name no one was even
• 16:56
Speaker 4: aware of. I'm pretty sure half the Ohio State fan
• 16:59
Speaker 4: base wasn't even aware of it.
• 17:00
  Speaker 1: You're like, wait.
• 17:01
Speaker 4: Why is Tavian Sinclair not ready? He's not a true freshman.
• 17:03
  Speaker 4: He's been here a year.
• 17:04
  Speaker 1: He's a former five-star.
• 17:05
Speaker 4: And then you just run down this whole list of
• 17:08
Speaker 4: former five-star quarterbacks that aren't panning out to the degree
• 17:12
Speaker 4: that everyone thought they would, which is we could do
• 17:14
Speaker 4: an hour and a half show right now on the
• 17:16
Speaker 4: state of QB play in college football.
• 17:18
Speaker 1: We thought it was going to be awesome this year.
• 17:20
Speaker 4: There were like 30 or 35 names you were looking
• 17:22
Speaker 4: at saying, man, I love that. And then strangely, almost
• 17:25
Speaker 4: every quarterback that's fallen short of expectation is on a
• 17:28
Speaker 4: team that doesn't have a run game. And every QB
• 17:30
Speaker 4: that has met or exceeded expectation is on a team
• 17:33
Speaker 4: that does have a run game in the top 40, which,
• 17:35
Speaker 4: and this is a pretty crazy theory I'm going to float,
• 17:37
Speaker 4: leads me to believe there may be a little bit
• 17:40
Speaker 4: more to QB play than just the QB. It may
• 17:44
Speaker 4: be a team sport after all.
• 17:46
  Speaker 1: That's a good take. Can't just be one-dimensional in football.
• 17:50
Speaker 1: That was beautifully said.
• 17:51
Speaker 2: Somebody was mentioning when we were sitting there before the show,
• 17:55
Speaker 2: it's like, how many teams are going to be needing
• 17:57
Speaker 2: a quarterback in the portal?
• 17:58
Speaker 1: It's like, yeah, but how do you even know what
• 17:59
Speaker 1: you're going to get if you get that quarterback? Brooks
• 18:01
Speaker 1: also had a good tweet about that. It's like, what, Indiana,
• 18:04
Speaker 1: Texas A & M, Michigan, Oregon, Miami, Ohio State, seems
• 18:08
Speaker 1: like they're going to need one. There's six teams right there.
• 18:11
Speaker 1: But it's like all those cute quarterbacks even out there.
• 18:14
Speaker 1: Because coming into this year, you thought the sport was
• 18:17
Speaker 1: going to be flooded with good quarterback play.
• 18:19
  Speaker 2: Yeah.
• 18:19
Speaker 1: And it just hadn't seemed to be that way. Well,
• 18:21
Speaker 1: the best argument is look at Nebraska. They have Calandria
• 18:24
Speaker 1: from UNLV. So like, yeah, the quarterbacks are going to
• 18:27
Speaker 1: be out there that fit your system, but it's up
• 18:28
Speaker 1: to the GMs and the newly found scouting department in
• 18:33
Speaker 1: this NIL era figuring that out and being like, this
• 18:35
Speaker 1: is the best guy that fits our scheme. Like you
• 18:37
Speaker 1: can't tell me that Braden Atkinson is not going to
• 18:40
Speaker 1: be in an Ohio State Buckeye next year.
• 18:42
Speaker 4: I was on the phone with a head coach. major
• 18:45
Speaker 4: head coach the last two weeks and his GM was
• 18:49
Speaker 4: in the room. I was on speakerphone, rude, but I
• 18:52
Speaker 4: was on speakerphone nonetheless. And I mentioned Atkinson and I
• 18:58
Speaker 4: heard the conversation like, why didn't we know about that guy? Like,
• 19:01
Speaker 4: what did we know about that guy? And then they
• 19:03
Speaker 4: started yelling at each other playfully, but you can tell
• 19:06
Speaker 4: there was a layer of seriousness to it. Because they're like,
• 19:09
Speaker 4: how in a modern NIL quarterback market does a guy
• 19:14
Speaker 4: fall through the cracks? To the degree that he lands
• 19:16
Speaker 4: at Oregon State by way of Mercer. Mercer's in Macon, Georgia.
• 19:21
Speaker 4: Oregon State is in Corvallis, Oregon. So it's not like
• 19:23
Speaker 4: that guy had a hometown discount or he just went
• 19:25
Speaker 4: to a school in his backyard. Everybody else overlooked him.
• 19:28
Speaker 4: And Jamarcus Shepard said, first year at Oregon State, I'll
• 19:31
Speaker 4: go with the kid at Mercer.
• 19:33
Speaker 1: Ding. Like just ding, just works straight out of the gate.
• 19:37
Speaker 1: That's crazy. And then Jesse Legree too. Crazy. How? Legree? Legree. Legree.
• 19:43
Speaker 4: Well, you can't hit him up and ask him because
• 19:45
Speaker 4: all requests have to run through his representation now.
• 19:49
Speaker 1: What does that mean? What does that mean? No one knows.
• 19:52
Speaker 1: No one knows. Oh, he's like that. His dad had posted. Oh,
• 19:58
Speaker 1: you've heard enough. I've heard enough, dude. Oh, he's got
• 20:01
Speaker 1: a dad. I don't like it. He has a father? Okay.
• 20:04
Speaker 1: I don't like it. Yeah, never mind. I thought that
• 20:07
Speaker 1: was big. That was so big. there's no way but
• 20:10
Speaker 1: like that kid he perfectly fits what Ryan Day wants
• 20:12
Speaker 1: at Ohio State like not a super mobile quarterback and
• 20:15
Speaker 1: then you gotta think Jesse goes with Atkinson wherever he
• 20:18
Speaker 1: goes or or what or both of them go I
• 20:23
Speaker 1: don't want to start a rumor so I'm going to
• 20:24
Speaker 1: say this quietly both of them go wherever Jamarcus Shepard
• 20:27
Speaker 1: goes yeah No one heard that, correct? What's up, Klump?
• 20:31
Speaker 1: I talked to you guys about it.
• 20:34
  Speaker 5: I heard a little.
• 20:36
Speaker 1: Rumor that he might be a one-year guy and out.
• 20:38
Speaker 1: He might be one of the hottest names in college football.
• 20:40
Speaker 1: You heard the rumor that he might be one of
• 20:42
Speaker 1: the hottest names? I mean, it seems like he's clearly there.
• 20:45
Speaker 1: You heard that rumor? He took Texas Tech ahead of
• 20:47
Speaker 1: Houston down the wire early in the season.
• 20:49
Speaker 6: I heard from a very reputable person in college football,
• 20:52
Speaker 6: not Josh Pate, that his name is circled.
• 20:56
Speaker 1: By a lot of people. Got to have the job openings, though. Okay,
• 21:01
Speaker 1: so based on everything we're seeing, you're saying Ryan Day's
• 21:03
Speaker 1: out at Ohio State? Basically, yeah. And Shepard's in? Feeling
• 21:05
Speaker 1: the heat. Feeling the heat. Is that what we're hearing
• 21:08
  Speaker 1: right now?
• 21:08
  Speaker 2: It's a good mid-season check-in, job openings. Any teams we
• 21:14
Speaker 2: should be keeping an eye on?
• 21:15
Speaker 4: Yeah, so I think NC State is very much in
• 21:18
Speaker 4: play to open. Maryland's going to open. I expect Syracuse
• 21:22
Speaker 4: to open. If you pin me down right now, I
• 21:25
Speaker 4: don't think Florida State's going to open. unless there's like
• 21:28
Speaker 4: a sort of mutual deal there. But just traditional firing,
• 21:33
  Speaker 4: I don't think that's going to happen right now. I
• 21:35
Speaker 4: think Shane Beamer was always way safer than people thought
• 21:39
Speaker 4: he was. I'll include myself in that because I didn't
• 21:42
Speaker 4: do enough due diligence on it. Now I really think
• 21:44
Speaker 4: he's okay, but it's obviously a big weekend in Columbia.
• 21:48
Speaker 4: And I don't know if you guys are aware, but
• 21:51
Speaker 4: You know what month it is.
• 21:52
Speaker 1: Yeah, it's October. And you know who's in town. Yeah.
• 21:54
Speaker 4: And you know who's playing their eighth straight game coming
• 21:56
Speaker 4: off the Alabama game. Meanwhile, the home team is rested.
• 22:01
Speaker 4: Where have we seen that dynamic before? In Athens, Georgia
• 22:04
Speaker 4: last week. So I don't think, I think Dave Aranda,
• 22:09
Speaker 4: I thought after last week, Dave Aranda was cooked at Baylor.
• 22:12
  Speaker 1: Maybe not.
• 22:14
Speaker 4: There's just a lot of hesitance to move on coaches
• 22:16
Speaker 4: in general. Like I talked to a guy yesterday who's
• 22:18
Speaker 4: who lives in that world. And he said, there's not
• 22:21
Speaker 4: a whole lot of immediate movement that's expected.
• 22:25
Speaker 1: Is there any bigger named schools, blue blood type schools
• 22:30
Speaker 1: that you think there might be something going on? Sure.
• 22:33
Speaker 1: Just keep an eye on it. Well, there's always... Just
• 22:35
Speaker 1: keep an eye on it. We're not going to put
• 22:37
Speaker 1: a grenade out there.
• 22:38
Speaker 4: The same one I threw last year is the same
• 22:40
Speaker 4: one now. Everyone is waiting to see what USC does.
• 22:44
Speaker 4: Everyone's waiting to see where the Lincoln-Riley breaks through this
• 22:46
Speaker 4: year or they fall short. Because if they fall short,
• 22:49
Speaker 4: USC will go after Kalen DeVore and they'll make him
• 22:51
Speaker 4: give them an answer. And that's how the market would
• 22:54
Speaker 4: get thrown into a tailspin. That's really common knowledge behind
• 22:58
Speaker 4: the scenes. That's not like anything that's earth shattering. Outside
• 23:01
Speaker 4: of that, I think Texas is a special situation because
• 23:05
Speaker 4: that booster class is really, really on edge right now.
• 23:09
Speaker 4: And that's before Ole Miss and Trinidad Chambliss go into Austin. they're,
• 23:13
Speaker 4: they're on the precipice of having, what was a championship
• 23:16
Speaker 4: or bust season bust before Halloween. And I don't want
• 23:19
Speaker 4: to tell you, I don't have to tell you what
• 23:21
Speaker 4: November would feel like around there still with multiple losable
• 23:24
Speaker 4: games left. So I don't, Texas is its own planet.
• 23:28
Speaker 4: Like don't tie Texas into the logic I'm using for
• 23:31
Speaker 4: every other school here. But outside of those, I'm trying
• 23:34
Speaker 4: to think, I don't know that there's much activity, but
• 23:39
Speaker 4: every week could change that.
• 23:41
Speaker 1: Yeah. Like if I'm, We'll talk.
• 23:43
Speaker 4: About Tennessee, South Carolina. Let's say that game just goes
• 23:46
Speaker 4: radically off the rails for South Carolina. Let's say FSU
• 23:49
Speaker 4: loses three more games.
• 23:52
  Speaker 1: Sure, man.
• 23:52
Speaker 4: People are prone to swings of emotion. Anything could happen.
• 23:56
Speaker 4: So all I can give you is the here and now.
• 23:59
Speaker 4: The thing that's interesting to me about Texas being on
• 24:01
Speaker 4: a different planet. There's bigger programs that when they don't
• 24:05
Speaker 4: do well and they have a lot of funding, a
• 24:08
Speaker 4: lot of the thought is, hey, we're going to just
• 24:10
  Speaker 4: pull our money.
• 24:10
Speaker 1: We're not going to do this because there really is
• 24:12
Speaker 1: no ROI other than the ego of your school is winning.
• 24:15
Speaker 1: You have a lot of money. You're willing to give it.
• 24:17
Speaker 1: So you give it. And then hopefully that translates to
• 24:19
Speaker 1: wins on the field with Texas being their own thing.
• 24:22
Speaker 1: Is that a booster program? that would ever be like,
• 24:25
Speaker 1: you know what? You have all these weapons. We're not
• 24:28
Speaker 1: going to give as much money. Because Texas feels like
• 24:30
Speaker 1: to me, that they're like, we're going to force this
• 24:33
Speaker 1: square peg in a round hole as long as possible
• 24:35
Speaker 1: because they have so much money and they're going to
• 24:37
Speaker 1: continue to do so. And they refuse to ever be
• 24:39
Speaker 1: in this category of not always looked at as a
• 24:42
Speaker 1: contender going into the season. You ask a lot of
• 24:44
Speaker 1: good questions. Thank you. This may be the best.
• 24:46
  Speaker 2: Wow.
• 24:47
Speaker 1: Yeah. This is way up there.
• 24:48
Speaker 4: This is like a top five of 2026 for you.
• 24:50
  Speaker 1: Thank you.
• 24:50
Speaker 4: Dive on it for a second. So, What did we
• 24:54
Speaker 4: just watch? What are we in the process of watching?
• 24:56
  Speaker 4: We're watching Oregon, maybe LSU, Texas, Texas A & M.
• 25:01
Speaker 4: We're watching some of the biggest spending rosters, the highest
• 25:04
Speaker 4: value rosters in the sport, suffering multiple losses. Some of
• 25:07
Speaker 4: those will be three and four loss teams. Now, here's
• 25:09
Speaker 4: what happens. I think the donor class, what they don't
• 25:13
Speaker 4: do is they look and say, we're never spending on
• 25:14
Speaker 4: football again. What I do think they do is they
• 25:17
Speaker 4: look at Georgia as an example, and they say, wait,
• 25:20
Speaker 4: Georgia doesn't outspend us. Georgia spends, but they don't outspend us.
• 25:24
Speaker 4: And yet they're the model of consistency year over year.
• 25:27
Speaker 4: God help us if they ever get a quarterback that
• 25:29
Speaker 4: is transcendent. We would never beat them. How does Georgia
• 25:33
Speaker 4: do it? They do it the same way they've always
• 25:34
Speaker 4: done it. They go recruit high school. They sprinkle portal
• 25:37
Speaker 4: where needed. But where Georgia spends... is they spend on
• 25:41
Speaker 4: the guys they already have in their program that they
• 25:42
Speaker 4: want to keep. So they still keep the developmental piece.
• 25:46
Speaker 4: They still have a fire that they want to throw
• 25:48
Speaker 4: guys into. Some of them will get burned. And unlike
• 25:50
Speaker 4: in years past, they can just toss them out. But
• 25:52
Speaker 4: the ones that get forged in it properly, Georgia just
• 25:54
Speaker 4: pays those guys. That's the same model Ohio State uses.
• 25:58
Speaker 4: It's the same model Alabama uses. So if I'm a
• 26:00
Speaker 4: big seven-figure-per-year guy stroking a check at Texas or Texas
• 26:04
Speaker 4: A & M or Oregon... but especially the Texas schools
• 26:06
Speaker 4: because they got high school kids in their backyard that
• 26:08
Speaker 4: they should be locking down. I'm looking and I'm saying,
• 26:11
Speaker 4: I'm still willing to spend. But what we're not going
• 26:13
Speaker 4: to do is we're not going to go supermarket sweep
• 26:16
Speaker 4: style in the portal anymore and just think we're throwing
• 26:18
Speaker 4: together an all-star team because we're going to get beat
• 26:21
Speaker 4: every time by the teams that just reinvest in traditional
• 26:24
Speaker 4: high school recruiting evaluation and then program-based development. So if
• 26:28
Speaker 4: you can get that figured out, Steve Sarkeesian, I think
• 26:31
Speaker 4: Elko knows how to do that. I just think it's
• 26:33
Speaker 4: a down year for them. If you could figure that out, Lane,
• 26:36
Speaker 4: if you could figure that out, Dan Lanning, that's when
• 26:39
Speaker 4: you're getting my money from me. I'm not guessing on
• 26:41
Speaker 4: that because I've had conversations with seven figure guys this
• 26:43
Speaker 4: week about that very subject. And they're all collectively looking
• 26:46
Speaker 4: around saying, maybe we got fooled a little bit by
• 26:49
Speaker 4: what's going to win in the portal era. We thought
• 26:51
Speaker 4: it's just let other people develop the players. Then we'll
• 26:54
Speaker 4: go buy them and we'll reap the benefit of the
• 26:57
Speaker 4: other team developing them for us. It's not that easy
• 27:00
Speaker 4: to put a team together. Contrary to popular belief, it's
• 27:04
Speaker 4: not that easy to put a team together.
• 27:05
Speaker 1: It's so new, too, because like, we were at Texas
• 27:07
Speaker 1: Tech last year. They had 43 transfers. And that big
• 27:09
Speaker 1: conversation we had in the Futures was like, can you
• 27:11
Speaker 1: get these mercenaries to all play as a cohesive unit?
• 27:14
Speaker 1: And they clearly go win the Big 12 championship. They
• 27:16
Speaker 1: look great until... I think they did a great job.
• 27:18
Speaker 1: They did a phenomenal job. They just didn't have a
• 27:19
Speaker 1: good enough quarterback. Yeah. And so it's like, now we're
• 27:22
Speaker 1: in a different year where even more money's been spent,
• 27:25
Speaker 1: not just in one school, but a whole bunch of schools.
• 27:27
Speaker 1: And it's exactly what you're saying. Like, well, Georgia... They
• 27:30
Speaker 1: keep doing it. They just lost to Auburn, but still.
• 27:32
Speaker 1: I mean, again, the Cignetti vibe too. Cignetti's ruined a
• 27:35
Speaker 1: lot of people. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Going undefeated. Like he
• 27:38
Speaker 1: didn't have that team forever. Yeah.
• 27:40
Speaker 2: Year two and they go undefeated 16-0 and win the Natty.
• 27:44
Speaker 2: Like a lot of it too, a balance is a
• 27:47
Speaker 2: lot of those big money people, I feel like will
• 27:49
Speaker 2: have some influence and control on making the decision of
• 27:53
Speaker 2: who's going to be the head coach. I feel like
• 27:56
Speaker 2: if Texas becomes this bust team by November.
• 28:00
Speaker 1: He is, I think it could happen. Yeah.
• 28:03
Speaker 4: Well, I said it in preseason. I said, I mean,
• 28:05
Speaker 4: I had Texas playing for the national title or final four.
• 28:07
  Speaker 1: I can't remember.
• 28:08
Speaker 4: Anyway, we'll rehash that. But I said, if this doesn't happen,
• 28:12
Speaker 4: Texas is a special circumstance. It was always going to
• 28:15
Speaker 4: be that way. It was one where the, everybody was
• 28:17
Speaker 4: all in on the head coach and the team, but
• 28:19
Speaker 4: it's just a different thing. This is not, if you fail, Oh,
• 28:22
Speaker 4: you got two or three more years. This is a
• 28:25
Speaker 4: group of people that are going to look and say,
• 28:27
Speaker 4: if you couldn't get it done with this group, And
• 28:31
Speaker 4: you're four or five years in or whatever now, and
• 28:33
Speaker 4: we don't even have an SEC title. We don't have
• 28:35
Speaker 4: a national title. You haven't even played for a national title.
• 28:38
Speaker 4: We think we have everything we need. The missing piece
• 28:41
Speaker 4: is the head coaching piece.
• 28:42
Speaker 2: Because you're also sitting at the table, too, and you're
• 28:43
Speaker 2: trusting like after last year. And if the coaching fodder,
• 28:47
Speaker 2: the CYA type mentality is we don't have the players yet.
• 28:51
Speaker 2: Like if we get to spend on these players that
• 28:53
Speaker 2: we do all the formulas on, these are the guys
• 28:56
Speaker 2: we need to go out and get.
• 28:57
  Speaker 1: You get them.
• 28:58
Speaker 2: And then you bust this year that we're currently in, it's,
• 29:01
Speaker 2: you know, there's not going to be a lot there.
• 29:03
Speaker 2: Cause if, if whoever's in that room staff wise, it's like,
• 29:06
Speaker 2: if we get these players where we care, where we care,
• 29:09
Speaker 2: if we go out and spend here and get these
• 29:11
Speaker 2: guys that we've graded, we've done all this stuff with,
• 29:13
Speaker 2: we get them like we're cooking with dynamite. We're a
• 29:16
  Speaker 2: championship football team.
• 29:17
Speaker 1: I think we all agree that Sark's like a really
• 29:18
Speaker 1: good head coach. But if there's a $ 50 million roster,
• 29:22
Speaker 1: if they do have, I mean, they have to play
• 29:24
Speaker 1: at LSU still, but there's a handful of games that
• 29:26
Speaker 1: are very losable games. So let's say they lose four
• 29:29
Speaker 1: games instead of three and Texas goes, we're done with this.
• 29:31
Speaker 1: We're done with this with Sarkeesian. We're going to move
• 29:34
Speaker 1: on from him and go find the next best head
• 29:35
Speaker 1: coach for our program. Is there a blemish? on Sark
• 29:41
Speaker 1: from these other programs where they're like, Hey, you couldn't
• 29:44
Speaker 1: get it done with all those weapons, with a revamped
• 29:47
Speaker 1: offensive line, with two running backs that looks for over
• 29:49
Speaker 1: a thousand yards a year prior to different schools. Like
• 29:51
Speaker 1: what's to say you can get it done at this school.
• 29:54
Speaker 4: That's an easy adjustment for him. Well, it's easy in theory.
• 29:57
Speaker 4: He would just have to sell that he's going to
• 29:58
Speaker 4: bring in a coordinator, an offensive coordinator. Same thing Billy
• 30:01
Speaker 4: Napier just did. Billy Napier failed at Florida because he
• 30:03
Speaker 4: wasn't willing to cede control of the offense. Well, he
• 30:06
Speaker 4: did that in exchange for getting the JMU job. JMU
• 30:09
Speaker 4: is undefeated right now. They look really good. And, you know,
• 30:13
Speaker 4: he has since publicly said, I learned some lessons from that.
• 30:16
Speaker 4: You know, Florida fans counter is, well, why did it
• 30:18
Speaker 4: take getting fired for you to learn those lessons?
• 30:20
  Speaker 1: But I digress.
• 30:21
Speaker 4: That would be, we're way ahead of ourselves here, but
• 30:23
Speaker 4: that would be what you would hear from Sark before
• 30:25
Speaker 4: he took his next job is, I learned some things.
• 30:28
Speaker 4: Had a healthy introspection of myself. Maybe it is time
• 30:32
Speaker 4: for me to give up play calling. I just don't,
• 30:34
Speaker 4: I don't think he's going to do it voluntarily. And
• 30:36
Speaker 4: then you got to ask yourself, well, if this season
• 30:38
Speaker 4: goes off the rails and the meeting is, Steve, we
• 30:41
Speaker 4: want to keep you here. We like you, but here's
• 30:43
Speaker 4: what you're going to have to do. That conversation would happen.
• 30:47
Speaker 4: What would his response be? Because some guys, I say prideful,
• 30:51
Speaker 4: Some guys just have way too much belief in their
• 30:54
Speaker 4: way of doing things. They would rather get fired than
• 30:58
Speaker 4: attempt to do it a way that's not theirs.
• 31:00
Speaker 1: Yeah. Like taking control out of their own hands. Like
• 31:04
Speaker 1: Stark has that feeling of like, if I call these plays,
• 31:06
Speaker 1: he can live and die by that sword.
• 31:07
Speaker 4: I've talked to him about this before. I've posed this
• 31:10
Speaker 4: to him. And he said, that's all I know.
• 31:14
  Speaker 1: Right. Like I.
• 31:16
Speaker 4: If I'm going down, I'm going down doing what I
• 31:19
Speaker 4: think I'm best at, was paraphrasing how he feels about it.
• 31:22
  Speaker 1: I doubt that's changed. I doubt that feeling's changed. Yeah,
• 31:26
Speaker 1: but the noise gets super loud. You lose, you know,
• 31:29
Speaker 1: one more game, two more games. It's literally one more game.
• 31:32
Speaker 1: It's literally one more game before this conversation gets more
• 31:34
Speaker 1: and more real. They'll only have three losses. Can we
• 31:39
Speaker 1: talk about how chaotic this CFP could be this year?
• 31:43
Speaker 1: Before we do, I just got a question about Like
• 31:46
Speaker 1: Klump brought up a really good point. We were looking
• 31:48
Speaker 1: at someone, I think you were talking about, you quote
• 31:52
Speaker 1: tweeted a tweet about all the top quarterbacks in like
• 31:54
Speaker 1: the last three classes. And how Georgia goes through the
• 31:58
Speaker 1: recruiting process and they're doing the old fashioned way and
• 32:00
Speaker 1: then sprinkling what they need in the transfer portal. We
• 32:03
Speaker 1: have to figure out a way to reevaluate these kids
• 32:06
Speaker 1: because there's so many different platforms now that can give
• 32:09
Speaker 1: kids stars and tell them how great they are. It's
• 32:12
Speaker 1: like Conor Wegman, for instance. He was a four-star across
• 32:14
  Speaker 1: the board, except for 24-7, he was a five-star. He's
• 32:17
Speaker 1: obviously lighting it up now, but he had to go
• 32:19
  Speaker 1: to A & M. With a good run game. Yeah,
• 32:20
Speaker 1: with a good run game. They're lighting it up now,
• 32:22
Speaker 1: but he had to start somewhere, fall off, and then go.
• 32:25
Speaker 1: So there needs to be some sort of evolution in
• 32:30
Speaker 1: the college football, or in the high school department. before
• 32:35
Speaker 1: college in like a combine sense. Not like make these
• 32:38
Speaker 1: kids run and jump and do all the things, but
• 32:39
Speaker 1: like getting in a room with, if you're having an
• 32:42
Speaker 1: elite 11, instead of just putting these kids in the field,
• 32:45
Speaker 1: let's see what they do. Like why are these kids
• 32:47
Speaker 1: not sitting in a room and breaking down film? And
• 32:49
Speaker 1: someone who knows ball and knows quarterback play can digest
• 32:53
Speaker 1: how this person picks up playbooks and everything. Well, tell
• 32:56
  Speaker 1: me this.
• 32:59
Speaker 4: If you're coming out of high school, four-star quarterback, five-star quarterback,
• 33:03
Speaker 4: but you have offers from Georgia, Ohio State, USC, Texas,
• 33:07
Speaker 4: and Alabama. And I'm a fan and I'm looking at you.
• 33:12
Speaker 4: Is that not the experts in the room evaluating you?
• 33:16
Speaker 4: Is Ryan Day, Kalen DeBoer, Kirby Smart, is that not
• 33:19
  Speaker 4: the expert counsel?
• 33:20
Speaker 1: So I'll give you my take on this.
• 33:22
Speaker 4: I don't think the eval process of the high school
• 33:25
Speaker 4: player has changed at all or worsened. If it's worsened,
• 33:29
Speaker 4: it's negligible. What I think is happening is, The topsoil
• 33:33
Speaker 4: that you're throwing those seeds in at the college level
• 33:36
Speaker 4: has never had more churn than it does right now.
• 33:40
Speaker 4: You would have a very hard time convincing me that
• 33:42
Speaker 4: all of a sudden, the same process that's graded high
• 33:46
Speaker 4: school quarterbacks forever, four-star, five-star, all of a sudden just
• 33:50
Speaker 4: got poisoned. Because there's no fundamental change to it. If anything,
• 33:55
Speaker 4: you've never had more access to be able to grade kids. Conditionally,
• 33:59
Speaker 4: there are always busts. Like I'm not saying they're not,
• 34:01
Speaker 4: but there always were. But all of a sudden, there's
• 34:03
Speaker 4: like this huge spike in five-star graded kids that aren't
• 34:07
Speaker 4: working out. And so what I'm saying is maybe the
• 34:09
Speaker 4: eval of the player is not what needs to change.
• 34:12
Speaker 4: Maybe a much healthier look needs to be put on
• 34:14
Speaker 4: evaluating programs, not teams, but like full-on organizational structure Programs
• 34:19
Speaker 4: and like what is the topsoil?
• 34:21
  Speaker 1: What's the garden?
• 34:22
Speaker 4: I'm throwing the seed in because if it's constantly being
• 34:24
Speaker 4: churned up every day It never has time to germinate.
• 34:27
Speaker 1: Is that the right word? It never has time to take.
• 34:30
Speaker 2: Root keep watering How dumb would it be if you
• 34:33
Speaker 2: toss the seed in?
• 34:35
Speaker 1: And then you just like kept kept messing with the
• 34:36
Speaker 1: soil every day and then you look and say well
• 34:38
Speaker 1: that seed was That seed was faulty.
• 34:41
Speaker 4: No, it wasn't That seed could be taken out of
• 34:43
Speaker 4: your garden, thrown in another one, the dude treats it
• 34:45
Speaker 4: the right way, the Connor Wigman seed, and it sprouts
• 34:47
  Speaker 4: in Houston.
• 34:48
  Speaker 2: Yeah.
• 34:49
Speaker 1: So is the fix for that, the evaluation process is
• 34:52
Speaker 1: the same. However, these contracts that these NIL kids have
• 34:56
Speaker 1: need to be multiple year contracts. So they have an
• 34:58
Speaker 1: opportunity for the seed to stay and to sprout and germinate.
• 35:01
Speaker 1: I think they are. I think a lot of them.
• 35:03
Speaker 1: Are they doing multiple year contracts? I'm saying like now.
• 35:06
Speaker 1: I'm not saying the two year ago contracts. Right.
• 35:08
Speaker 4: But the ones now are, my understanding is most of
• 35:11
Speaker 4: them are. Because that's what you want. And you want to,
• 35:14
Speaker 4: in a perfect world, you want to backload it. But
• 35:16
Speaker 4: you also, what happens if you get the....
• 35:20
  Speaker 1: It's an agent.
• 35:21
Speaker 4: I'll just make sure nothing changed. What happens if you
• 35:23
Speaker 4: get the right quarterback, but you don't have the right
• 35:25
Speaker 4: anything else? Like, what quarterback would succeed at Texas A &
• 35:28
  Speaker 4: M right now?
• 35:29
  Speaker 1: Pick one.
• 35:30
Speaker 4: I would love to see Trinidad Chambliss, who I think
• 35:32
Speaker 4: is the best in the country.
• 35:34
  Speaker 1: Darian Mensah.
• 35:35
Speaker 4: I'd love to see those dudes with that inefficient offensive
• 35:38
Speaker 4: line and no ground game, inconsistency everywhere, Do you really
• 35:42
Speaker 4: think they're in the Heisman conversation at.
• 35:44
  Speaker 1: A & M? Because I don't. Yeah, that's a great point.
• 35:47
Speaker 1: Same quarterback. One-dimensional football. Can't have it. Same quarterback.
• 35:51
Speaker 4: So is my evaluation of Trinidad Chambliss wrong once he
• 35:55
Speaker 4: goes and fails in College Station? Or is there something
• 35:58
Speaker 4: a little bit amiss in College Station?
• 36:00
Speaker 1: Too much value being put on weapons, not much on
• 36:03
Speaker 1: the trenches. I think so. It always comes back to
• 36:06
Speaker 1: offensive linemen. The most important thing you can possibly have
• 36:10
  Speaker 1: on your team.
• 36:10
Speaker 4: When you watch O-line play right now, and then you
• 36:12
Speaker 4: watch O-line play 10 years ago, how does it compare?
• 36:15
Speaker 4: Standard college offensive line play, how does it compare?
• 36:17
  Speaker 1: I didn't watch O-line play 10 years ago.
• 36:21
Speaker 4: So you weren't really interested with offensive line play 10
• 36:23
  Speaker 4: years ago?
• 36:24
Speaker 1: I was watching 10 years ago. I was playing in
• 36:28
Speaker 1: the NFL. What about 15 years ago? Played 15 years ago,
• 36:32
Speaker 1: I didn't even watch film. He was a kid. He
• 36:33
Speaker 1: was 21 years old. Do you know anyone I can
• 36:36
Speaker 1: talk to about offensive line play? Coach would be like,
• 36:37
Speaker 1: these guys do this. I'd be like, I'm probably just
• 36:39
Speaker 1: going to block that guy. Do you have anyone I
• 36:41
Speaker 1: can talk to about offensive line play? Cole Kublik would
• 36:43
Speaker 1: be great at that. Okay, gotcha. Cole Kublik would be awesome.
• 36:46
Speaker 1: For me to compare how college is now compared to
• 36:49
Speaker 1: how college was 10 years ago, I get lost in that.
• 36:52
Speaker 1: You don't watch film? I thought you watched film. No, no, no. Yeah,
• 36:55
Speaker 1: you're twisting great words right now. I can tell you
• 36:57
Speaker 1: what the product is that we're seeing right now, but
• 36:59
Speaker 1: I can't tell you, like, 10 years ago, they used
• 37:02
Speaker 1: to do this, and this is where, like, hey, we
• 37:04
Speaker 1: went to gap scheme to zone and all that. You
• 37:06
Speaker 1: know what the crazy part is? Tell me. You could
• 37:08
Speaker 1: have just lied and sounded like a genius. But I'm
• 37:09
Speaker 1: not a liar. No one would have been able to
• 37:11
Speaker 1: tell the difference. True. What are you seeing now, then? Honor. Integrity.
• 37:16
Speaker 1: I'm seeing holes. I'm seeing guys not playing as a
• 37:18
Speaker 1: cohesive unit. I think when you look at the transfer portal,
• 37:21
Speaker 1: and you talked about bringing a bunch of guys in,
• 37:23
Speaker 1: the hardest thing to get to jail isn't the individual
• 37:25
Speaker 1: slot-wide receiver out there who knows what routes to run
• 37:27
Speaker 1: for himself. That's called in every single play. It's for
• 37:30
Speaker 1: five guys to be on the same page. That's the
• 37:33
Speaker 1: hardest thing I see. So take Tennessee, for instance. There's
• 37:37
Speaker 1: multiple plays where they are all on the same page.
• 37:40
Speaker 1: The picture is very clear to them, and they look
• 37:42
Speaker 1: like a very good cohesive unit. And then you put
• 37:44
Speaker 1: one wrinkle in, like the safety walking down, and you
• 37:47
Speaker 1: can see their mark sheet kind of messed up. I
• 37:49
Speaker 1: also see a lot of quarterback play not coming up
• 37:51
Speaker 1: to the line and possibly remiking things and getting everybody
• 37:54
Speaker 1: on the same page. Because the old adage is, if
• 37:56
Speaker 1: everybody's wrong and then you're right, However, it doesn't seem
• 37:59
Speaker 1: like there's a lot of communication taking place from the
• 38:01
Speaker 1: center out in a lot of these programs. That's where
• 38:03
Speaker 1: I see like the biggest flaw. So it sounds like,
• 38:06
Speaker 1: if I could use the pumpkins. I might pick one
• 38:08
  Speaker 1: up too.
• 38:08
Speaker 4: It sounds like you're seeing a whole lot of this
• 38:11
Speaker 4: and not enough of this.
• 38:12
  Speaker 1: Yeah. Yes. That's X's nose. That's X's nose.
• 38:16
Speaker 2: The Jimmy's and the Jones.
• 38:19
Speaker 1: That is, yeah, that's a cool graphic right there. Where
• 38:23
Speaker 1: did you want to go? Do you want to go
• 38:24
Speaker 1: look back at our futures? Or do you want to
• 38:26
Speaker 1: look forward towards what could possibly happen now? We can
• 38:29
  Speaker 1: do a futures check-in. We can do a futures check-in.
• 38:32
Speaker 1: We can get into the college football playoff. I think
• 38:34
Speaker 1: we're looking at it. Oh, a diabolical college football playoff season. Diabolical.
• 38:39
Speaker 1: Are you looking at it or are you hoping for it? Both. Yeah,
• 38:43
Speaker 1: I know you are. You're looking at a college football
• 38:45
Speaker 1: playoff where you can sit there again and be like,
• 38:47
Speaker 1: Notre Dame should be in. No, no, there'll be somebody.
• 38:50
Speaker 1: It could be Notre Dame. What do you think the craziest,
• 38:54
Speaker 1: based on the landscape right now.
• 38:56
  Speaker 3: Okay.
• 38:56
Speaker 4: Because I had two disaster scenarios I came up with,
• 38:58
Speaker 4: especially if they both happened. It's like an Armageddon scenario.
• 39:01
Speaker 4: What's the craziest stuff? That you think could happen to
• 39:04
Speaker 4: just throw everything into the wood chipper.
• 39:06
  Speaker 1: Okay.
• 39:08
Speaker 2: This is predicated off of a Boise and a Notre
• 39:12
Speaker 2: Dame being in it as the two outside of the
• 39:14
  Speaker 2: big four conferences.
• 39:16
Speaker 1: Now, as far as conference plays, as far as conference
• 39:19
Speaker 1: play goes. We got two already. You got two already.
• 39:23
Speaker 2: In the big 10, I think you could see. Here's
• 39:27
Speaker 2: here's some hopes here two coming out of the big
• 39:30
Speaker 2: 10 so knock off either it's either going to be
• 39:33
Speaker 2: i'm going to put ohio state and indiana in the
• 39:35
Speaker 2: big 10 championship i'm going to say ucla if they're
• 39:39
Speaker 2: in a spot to where they are a two loss
• 39:42
Speaker 2: big 10 team so they're out of the conference they're
• 39:45
Speaker 2: out of the conference title game So you're looking at
• 39:47
Speaker 2: a 10-2 UCLA. They'd have to lose two on this backstretch, okay?
• 39:52
Speaker 2: Take that there. So put Ohio State and Indiana still
• 39:54
Speaker 2: in it, in this hypothetical. You go to the Big 12. BYU,
• 39:59
Speaker 2: Texas Tech continue to take care of business.
• 40:01
Speaker 1: They win. Let's say Utah is a one-loss football team.
• 40:06
  Speaker 1: All right?
• 40:06
  Speaker 7: All right.
• 40:07
Speaker 1: Now you go to the ACC. So far we got seven.
• 40:10
Speaker 1: So far we got, yeah, so far we got seven.
• 40:12
Speaker 1: Who do I have in there right now? One, two, three, four. Yeah,
• 40:14
Speaker 1: so far we got seven. So three Big 12s. ACC.
• 40:18
Speaker 2: Wake Forest wins out, but they're in the ACC championship game.
• 40:23
Speaker 2: They lose one. They lose a close one to Miami.
• 40:26
Speaker 1: All right? So you have an 11-2 Wake Forest team. In? Possibly. Possibly.
• 40:33
  Speaker 2: Yes.
• 40:34
Speaker 1: Possibly. Because in my scenario, I think they would get in. SEC.
• 40:42
  Speaker 2: Let's say Georgia. Georgia's going to be a one-loss team.
• 40:45
Speaker 2: They're going to play a two-loss team. Insert whoever. Insert
• 40:48
Speaker 2: one two-loss team in the SEC into the SEC championship game.
• 40:52
  Speaker 1: Georgia beats them.
• 40:54
Speaker 2: This two-loss, now three-loss SEC team is going to be
• 40:59
Speaker 2: in a pool with two or three other three-loss SEC teams.
• 41:03
Speaker 2: Just like Bama last year. Yeah, just like Bama last year.
• 41:06
Speaker 2: And you're going to be arguing for four SEC teams,
• 41:11
Speaker 2: three of them being three-loss, to be in the college
• 41:13
Speaker 2: football playoffs. which I do believe it should be that way.
• 41:17
Speaker 2: You're gonna be looking at UCLA that didn't get into
• 41:20
Speaker 2: the championship game. They were 10 and two, but a
• 41:22
Speaker 2: soft schedule that you'll be arguing them to be out.
• 41:26
Speaker 2: Big 10 gets two in. Big 12 gets three in.
• 41:29
Speaker 2: ACC gets two in because of Wake Forest losing to
• 41:32
Speaker 2: one team. I think where the seeding will end up happening.
• 41:35
Speaker 2: You saw it similar with BYU last year. They were
• 41:37
Speaker 2: on the cusp. What were you saying that they were
• 41:40
Speaker 2: ranked when the college football player before the championship weekend? 11.
• 41:43
Speaker 1: Yeah. When the AP poll came out and then. Dropped
• 41:46
Speaker 1: to 13 or something like that. We would all look
• 41:48
Speaker 1: at it and be like, oh, BYU's in. It's like, no,
• 41:50
Speaker 1: BYU's not because G5 still got to get in the non-conference.
• 41:52
Speaker 1: And we kind of knew it going in. Like it
• 41:54
Speaker 1: was pretty widely understood. Unless they win this game right now,
• 41:57
Speaker 1: which it's hilarious that that conference game. has weight, but
• 42:00
Speaker 1: the SEC championship doesn't have weight. Different weights taking place.
• 42:04
Speaker 1: Because you're talking about a UCLA team not getting in
• 42:07
  Speaker 1: at 10 and 2. It's like, how? I don't think
• 42:10
Speaker 1: they get in at 10 and 2. You don't think
• 42:12
  Speaker 1: they'd get in at 10-2?
• 42:12
Speaker 4: No, their schedule's not going to allow them to, nor
• 42:14
Speaker 4: should it. This is why you shouldn't have 18-team conferences,
• 42:17
Speaker 4: by the way. Yeah, 18-team conferences, because it's so disproportionately weighted. UCLA,
• 42:23
Speaker 4: it's not their fault. They did what they were supposed
• 42:26
  Speaker 4: to do.
• 42:26
Speaker 1: They won. So you're saying they're like the Notre Dame
• 42:28
  Speaker 1: of last year?
• 42:28
Speaker 4: Yeah, but the difference is Notre Dame's not in a conference.
• 42:32
Speaker 4: UCLA is. And yet, just look at who they didn't
• 42:35
Speaker 4: run into just by pure dumb luck of scheduling.
• 42:39
Speaker 1: And overall with the Big Ten, it's not as strong
• 42:41
Speaker 1: as it was last year. Mid and bottom tier, you're right.
• 42:44
Speaker 4: But that still means, that just means someone's going to
• 42:47
Speaker 4: run into Indiana and Ohio State and someone's going to
• 42:50
Speaker 4: avoid both of them.
• 42:51
Speaker 1: And there you go. Their schedule imbalance. But here's what
• 42:54
Speaker 1: I was thinking about. We interrupt this episode to shout
• 42:56
Speaker 1: out Neutral. No free shout outs to Neutral.
• 42:58
Speaker 2: Neutral tastes great and tastes so much better than any
• 43:00
Speaker 2: other vodka seltzer that's out there. It's made with real
• 43:02
Speaker 2: vodka and real juice. That's what makes it delicious. It
• 43:04
Speaker 2: comes in a variety of flavors, like pineapple and watermelon,
• 43:07
Speaker 2: or new flavors, lime and strawberry. It's perfect for social
• 43:10
Speaker 2: occasions because it's such a crowd pleaser, especially during the summer.
• 43:14
Speaker 2: Football games, think beach with friends, at an outdoor bar,
• 43:18
Speaker 2: on the lake, at a music festival. It is the
• 43:21
Speaker 2: perfect time of year to grab a 12-pack of Neutral
• 43:23
Speaker 2: for the beach or grab a bucket deal in your
• 43:25
Speaker 2: favorite bar to celebrate football season.
• 43:28
Speaker 1: Neutral, keep it tasty. Real quick break in the action.
• 43:30
Speaker 1: I got Lucey Breakers here. I usually take this thing
• 43:32
Speaker 1: to lock in. These bad boys go up to 12 milligrams.
• 43:35
Speaker 1: So if you need a little something extra, they are
• 43:37
Speaker 1: for you. They're the only ones doing a long lasting
• 43:40
Speaker 1: break with that bite and burst flavor. Pre-workout, post-workout, doesn't matter.
• 43:44
Speaker 1: This is what you can reach for when you're looking
• 43:46
Speaker 1: for a little bit of an extra boost. Now you
• 43:48
Speaker 1: can go to lucey.co forward slash locker room or just
• 43:52
Speaker 1: use code locker room. Now here's the fine print right here.
• 43:54
Speaker 1: Lucey products are only for adults of legal age. Every
• 43:56
Speaker 1: customer's age verified. Warning, This product contains nicotine. Nicotine is
• 44:00
Speaker 1: an addictive chemical. Let's get back to the episode.
• 44:02
Speaker 4: So I think UCLA is going to go to the
• 44:05
Speaker 4: Big Ten title game and play Indiana. Because I told you,
• 44:08
Speaker 4: I think Ohio State is going to lose some games here.
• 44:11
Speaker 4: So if it's them there and then their second loss
• 44:14
Speaker 4: is in the Big Ten title game, then I think
• 44:16
Speaker 4: they're in. So I think Indiana and UCLA will be in.
• 44:20
Speaker 4: So give me two from the Big Ten. I think
• 44:23
Speaker 4: three probably at least from the SEC. But to me,
• 44:26
Speaker 4: where the doomsday scenarios are, are if Wake beats Miami,
• 44:32
Speaker 4: like just a one-off freak situation, SMU or Wake Forest,
• 44:36
Speaker 4: they get to Charlotte, they beat Miami. That's one that
• 44:39
Speaker 4: would mess things up. But the one that would really
• 44:41
Speaker 4: mess things up is right now, there's not a likely,
• 44:44
Speaker 4: but a possible scenario where a combination of Texas Tech,
• 44:48
Speaker 4: Brigham Young, Houston, and Utah are all undefeated or one loss.
• 44:54
Speaker 4: And I want to know what you're going to do
• 44:56
Speaker 4: with them. Because here's what it boils down to. It
• 44:57
Speaker 4: boils down to comparing a couple of one-loss Big 12
• 45:01
Speaker 4: teams against a couple of three-loss SEC teams. Remember, the
• 45:06
Speaker 4: whole backdrop of this is all these coaches in the
• 45:09
Speaker 4: SEC are complaining that they don't think strength of schedule
• 45:12
Speaker 4: is properly taken into account. And they had their spring
• 45:14
Speaker 4: meetings with the playoff committee. I know because I had
• 45:17
Speaker 4: one with them too in our office and I laid
• 45:19
Speaker 4: out these various scenarios and the SEC came out of
• 45:22
Speaker 4: those meetings saying, we got unsatisfactory answers to our questions. Translation,
• 45:29
Speaker 4: we're not confident that the reputation of our strength of
• 45:32
Speaker 4: schedule is going to give us the edge we think
• 45:34
Speaker 4: it's going to give us in all these hypothetical scenarios. Well,
• 45:37
Speaker 4: fast forward to December, they may not be hypothetical. It
• 45:40
Speaker 4: may be three loss LSU against one loss Houston. Three
• 45:43
Speaker 4: loss Alabama or Ole Miss against one loss fill in
• 45:47
Speaker 4: the blank. Brigham Young, Texas Tech, whatever. I don't know
• 45:51
Speaker 4: what they're going to do.
• 45:52
Speaker 1: Houston, Utah. I mean, that's the biggest swing game, leverage
• 45:56
Speaker 1: game this weekend. Especially if Houston wins the game. Yes.
• 45:59
Speaker 1: If Houston wins the game. Because that keeps all of
• 46:01
Speaker 1: this on the table.
• 46:02
  Speaker 2: Yes.
• 46:03
Speaker 1: Utah goes and takes care of business. Then all of
• 46:05
Speaker 1: a sudden it's like, Still got three.
• 46:07
  Speaker 2: A three-loss SEC, I don't believe they won't get in
• 46:10
  Speaker 2: over a one-loss Big 12.
• 46:11
Speaker 1: And you know what happens then. Chaos. You just burn
• 46:14
  Speaker 1: it down. Yeah.
• 46:15
Speaker 2: But in this scenario, I have three SEC teams getting
• 46:20
Speaker 2: into the playoffs. Now Houston would have to lose because, again,
• 46:23
Speaker 2: it's like Big 12 would still have three getting in.
• 46:26
Speaker 1: It's going to be anarchy, and it's going to be poetic,
• 46:29
Speaker 1: and we'll be right in the fire. What about Oregon?
• 46:32
Speaker 1: Does Dante Moore come back? is he is he planning
• 46:36
  Speaker 1: let's say let's I mean you talk about futures I
• 46:38
Speaker 1: had Oregon winning the big that one I had Oregon
• 46:41
Speaker 1: winning the national championship but like still have the roster
• 46:45
Speaker 1: and they're scheduled now if you look at it in
• 46:46
Speaker 1: the back half they got Illinois okay Northwestern that that's
• 46:50
Speaker 1: a good ball club but you would assume Dante Moore
• 46:52
Speaker 1: back that's a winnable game for them Ohio State now
• 46:55
Speaker 1: you're talking about Julian Sandby Ohio State losing a few
• 46:58
Speaker 1: games was Oregon in that category for you meaning what Like,
• 47:03
Speaker 1: I can see Ohio State losing a few more games.
• 47:05
Speaker 1: We'd be looking at a 3-4 loss, Ohio State team. Oregon.
• 47:08
Speaker 1: I think Oregon's going to be 3-4 losses, yeah. Okay. So,
• 47:11
Speaker 1: Oregon has to play Ohio State. Then you got, where
• 47:15
Speaker 1: am I? Michigan. Clearly, we'll know everything we need to
• 47:18
Speaker 1: know about Michigan after this week. And after the Oklahoma game.
• 47:20
  Speaker 2: Yeah.
• 47:20
Speaker 1: And after the Minnesota game. Yeah. But if you look
• 47:22
Speaker 1: at it, it's a totally different season. But now it's
• 47:24
  Speaker 1: a new season. We got a new quarterback. It's a
• 47:25
  Speaker 1: new season.
• 47:26
  Speaker 5: Tommy Carr.
• 47:26
Speaker 1: It's totally different now.
• 47:26
  Speaker 4: Oh, true.
• 47:27
  Speaker 1: Okay.
• 47:27
  Speaker 5: Yeah.
• 47:27
Speaker 1: So that's two, by the way. That's two. That's two.
• 47:29
  Speaker 4: That's true.
• 47:29
Speaker 1: You've come at me a little bit. But I'm just saying,
• 47:31
Speaker 1: Michigan State and then Washington, all those games are very
• 47:34
Speaker 1: winnable for Oregon. And if Ohio State falls the way
• 47:36
Speaker 1: they do, if UCLA, their next game that happens is
• 47:39
Speaker 1: the last game of the season against USC, there could
• 47:42
Speaker 1: be a lot of things that take place. Now Michigan
• 47:45
Speaker 1: beats Indiana in this scenario. Where's Indiana?
• 47:47
Speaker 2: If Michigan beats Indiana this weekend, oh, we got some
• 47:51
Speaker 2: chaos on the horizon.
• 47:51
Speaker 1: Did we not forget about Josh Hoover and his shoulder
• 47:54
Speaker 1: wincing every single time? There's just a lot more to
• 47:57
  Speaker 1: look at. There's a lot more to see. I don't
• 47:59
Speaker 1: think that's... But the SEC as well. And I know
• 48:01
Speaker 1: I kind of threw in Michigan there just to throw
• 48:03
Speaker 1: them in, but like... Yeah, because my... I can probably
• 48:05
Speaker 1: safely say Michigan's not going to be the Big Ten champion.
• 48:08
Speaker 1: Like my outsiders, like....
• 48:11
Speaker 2: My outsiders are the Big Ten looking in. It's like
• 48:14
  Speaker 2: a Northwestern.
• 48:15
Speaker 1: I thought he was about to do the, oh, that
• 48:18
  Speaker 1: was an agent.
• 48:18
Speaker 2: I was making sure that was James. If you get chaos,
• 48:21
Speaker 2: you're looking at Northwestern. You'd be looking at Iowa, potentially Nebraska,
• 48:25
Speaker 2: potentially Michigan. But in this scenario, imagine if Iowa and
• 48:32
Speaker 2: Nebraska are both three lost teams playing in that final week.
• 48:37
Speaker 1: I don't think either of them get in, whoever wins.
• 48:40
Speaker 2: But both sides will be sitting there making the case
• 48:41
Speaker 2: of being a three-loss team trying to get in the
• 48:44
Speaker 2: college football playoff like any three-loss team from the SEC
• 48:47
Speaker 2: or the Big Ten would be trying to get in.
• 48:50
  Speaker 1: Question for you.
• 48:51
Speaker 4: Notre Dame loses last-second field goal game to Miami.
• 48:55
  Speaker 1: They're getting in. I don't think they are. But I'm
• 48:58
Speaker 1: not writing it down. Based on your scenario, they're not.
• 49:01
Speaker 1: College football outsider scenario, though. Yeah. Yeah. Notre Dame loses
• 49:05
Speaker 1: to Miami. Miami just showed they can be... They went
• 49:08
Speaker 1: to what? It was a double overtime against Florida State?
• 49:10
Speaker 1: It was an overtime, yeah. It legitimately all depends... That
• 49:14
Speaker 1: was crazy, by the way. That's a BYU not calling DPI,
• 49:18
Speaker 1: but also... now on the other side of the country.
• 49:21
Speaker 1: And the hold, the play before. It was like two
• 49:23
Speaker 1: Hail Marys that kind of were both caught. One of them.
• 49:27
Speaker 1: For sure, 50%. Go ahead. All it depends on is
• 49:28
Speaker 1: how Wisconsin, North Carolina, and SMU.
• 49:39
Speaker 2: Play out saying Notre Dame beats SMU because that's what
• 49:43
Speaker 2: they'll be and imagine all of this chaos where there's
• 49:46
Speaker 2: losing going on in the SEC the college football playoff
• 49:48
Speaker 2: rankings coming out each and every week there's just going
• 49:50
Speaker 2: to be so much movement to where they'll be positioned
• 49:53
Speaker 2: to where they get their they get their legal we're
• 49:56
Speaker 2: in the top 12 they're automatically.
• 49:58
Speaker 1: In oh by the way They're positioned perfectly for that. Right, right.
• 50:02
Speaker 2: Especially if they lose on a last-second field goal, and
• 50:04
Speaker 2: Miami is the number one. Because Notre Dame's only losses
• 50:08
Speaker 2: will be to these last final plays against, right now,
• 50:12
Speaker 2: the number one and number two teams in the country.
• 50:14
Speaker 4: That's two years ago for them. That's two years ago.
• 50:17
Speaker 4: Their loss was A & M and Miami. Or was
• 50:20
  Speaker 4: that last year?
• 50:20
  Speaker 1: Last year.
• 50:21
Speaker 4: But then the question, which I thought was valid, is, okay, yeah,
• 50:24
Speaker 4: those were good losses. But that resume only sounds right
• 50:28
Speaker 4: if you have some really quality wins to go along
• 50:31
  Speaker 4: with it.
• 50:31
  Speaker 2: But Josh, A & M and Miami, they weren't the
• 50:33
Speaker 2: number one and number two teams.
• 50:34
Speaker 1: In the country. I know that. So these will be
• 50:35
Speaker 1: better losses than those. They were ranked in the teens.
• 50:38
Speaker 2: Like if Miami wins out, like does their thing, and
• 50:41
Speaker 2: Notre Dame has those losses to, you know, Public perception rankings.
• 50:45
  Speaker 1: One and two.
• 50:46
  Speaker 2: It's not A & M who is kind of like
• 50:48
Speaker 2: we're sitting there. They lose games to SEC teams over
• 50:52
Speaker 2: 500 or only win games against teams under 500. And
• 50:55
Speaker 2: then Miami who lost to SMU and Louisville. Like if
• 50:59
Speaker 2: this is a Miami team that stays number one and
• 51:02
Speaker 2: stays in the top five, that's where it's like that argument.
• 51:04
Speaker 1: Is a little bit different. Your argument and his argument,
• 51:07
Speaker 1: you have to check two boxes in that category.
• 51:08
  Speaker 6: Correct.
• 51:09
Speaker 1: The first box you have to check is quality losses.
• 51:11
Speaker 1: Like Miami has to handle business. A & M, their
• 51:13
Speaker 1: only loss in the regular season was through Texas, right?
• 51:16
Speaker 1: At the end of the year. Yeah, those boxes will
• 51:17
Speaker 1: be checked. Those boxes are checked. Done. But like if
• 51:20
Speaker 1: you looked at the rest of their schedule, the other
• 51:22
Speaker 1: 10 games, it's like you didn't really play anybody. But
• 51:25
Speaker 1: it's not a head-to-head Miami or Notre Dame. You beat
• 51:26
Speaker 1: the shit out of Pitt late in the season because
• 51:27
Speaker 1: you're trying to prove a point and everyone's still like,
• 51:29
Speaker 1: it's not good enough.
• 51:30
Speaker 2: Both of them last year were arguing that they needed
• 51:32
Speaker 2: to be in due to the head-to-head. Miami won't even
• 51:36
Speaker 2: be close to that situation on looking at.
• 51:38
  Speaker 4: A head-to-head game to get in. Yeah, I don't mean
• 51:39
  Speaker 4: a head-to-head. I mean a three-loss Texas being compared to
• 51:43
Speaker 4: a two-loss Notre Dame. And Texas is like... okay, we
• 51:46
Speaker 4: both have two losses. We have like four better wins
• 51:51
Speaker 4: or Ole Miss says we have three better wins than you.
• 51:53
Speaker 4: They're going to be right when they say that. Notre
• 51:56
Speaker 4: Dame's not going to have a quality, a high quality
• 51:59
Speaker 4: win to hang their hat on. To me, the good
• 52:02
Speaker 4: losses argument is valid if it goes along with, oh,
• 52:06
Speaker 4: and by the way, we beat number 10. We beat
• 52:09
Speaker 4: number 13. They're not going to have that. They're sitting here,
• 52:12
Speaker 4: fingers crossed, counting on SMU, To stop, not lose anymore.
• 52:16
Speaker 4: They're counting on Wisconsin to hopefully be like seven or
• 52:19
Speaker 4: eight wins instead of five or six wins. They're counting on,
• 52:21
Speaker 4: I mean, who else are we talking about?
• 52:22
  Speaker 1: North Carolina.
• 52:23
  Speaker 4: Like that's the situation you'd be in. If you're a
• 52:25
Speaker 4: Notre Dame fan, you're hoping Bill Belichick has a better
• 52:28
Speaker 4: season than average. So we can say, hey, our loss,
• 52:31
Speaker 4: our wins weren't quite as soft as people thought they were.
• 52:34
Speaker 4: I just don't think the resume is going to hold up.
• 52:35
Speaker 4: And that's even baking in. The edge that I think, perceptionally,
• 52:38
Speaker 4: they would get, because a lot of people think they
• 52:40
Speaker 4: got screwed last year.
• 52:41
Speaker 1: Does it not feel like that the AP poll made
• 52:43
Speaker 1: that adjustment? I know they're different, college football bracket, playoffs,
• 52:46
Speaker 1: and then AP, but they are very aligned. I think
• 52:49
Speaker 1: we looked at the first week that it came out,
• 52:51
Speaker 1: and they're all very similar. Having Notre Dame in that
• 52:54
Speaker 1: fourth slot right now, if they drop another one and
• 52:58
Speaker 1: it's that close, they're not going to go below, what, eight? No. Yeah,
• 53:02
Speaker 1: I mean, it's crazy that they only dropped to four.
• 53:05
Speaker 1: That's where it's so different is Notre Dame lost two
• 53:08
Speaker 1: in a row, or like the first two games last year.
• 53:11
Speaker 1: Dropped them down to like, they were like the only
• 53:13
Speaker 1: team to lose two games. Yeah, I think they were
• 53:14
Speaker 1: still ranked 25 or something. Yeah. So they're in that.
• 53:18
Speaker 1: So they had to like kind of crawl back. They
• 53:20
Speaker 1: lose a very close game to the number one team
• 53:22
Speaker 1: in Miami. And then the next question is, how much
• 53:24
Speaker 1: is the AP poll or college football put weight on
• 53:27
Speaker 1: the ACC team being the number one team as opposed
• 53:29
Speaker 1: to an SEC or a Big Ten team? they drop
• 53:32
Speaker 1: to eight, like they can just coast the rest of
• 53:34
Speaker 1: the way. And if you have that last SMU game.
• 53:37
  Speaker 2: I think he's right if this three-loss SEC, I know
• 53:39
Speaker 2: you said Texas, but if this three-loss SEC team is
• 53:43
Speaker 2: one or two of these three-loss SEC teams that are,
• 53:46
Speaker 2: you know, there's multiple two-loss teams and they're arguing to
• 53:48
Speaker 2: get in, I just think there's going to be a pocket,
• 53:51
Speaker 2: a group of three-loss SEC teams to where you're going
• 53:54
Speaker 2: to have multiple, like I have up to three still
• 53:57
Speaker 2: getting in. You know what I mean?
• 53:59
Speaker 1: To where, yeah. Who are your three you got going
• 54:01
Speaker 1: in the SEC? Right now, I have Georgia. Champion. Ole Miss, Tennessee,
• 54:11
Speaker 1: and who did I have? Kentucky, Alabama. No, not Kentucky.
• 54:17
Speaker 1: It's Bama or LSU. South Carolina. Like right now I
• 54:20
  Speaker 1: have Bama.
• 54:21
Speaker 2: Then a couple weeks when Bama and LSU plays, I
• 54:23
Speaker 2: think that is the game.
• 54:27
  Speaker 1: It's a big day.
• 54:27
Speaker 2: Whichever team gets hot, whichever team is hotter on that
• 54:30
Speaker 2: day is going to have the, is going to have
• 54:32
Speaker 2: the run to where, again, I have them, I have
• 54:34
Speaker 2: them all as like three lost teams.
• 54:36
Speaker 1: I think those two games happen at the same time,
• 54:38
Speaker 1: by the way. Miami, Notre Dame, Bama, LSU happen at
• 54:40
Speaker 1: the exact same time. No way. Yeah. Same night, same time.
• 54:43
Speaker 1: You don't have Kentucky, like Kentucky plays Vanderbilt. They got,
• 54:45
Speaker 1: they're at Tennessee. Like we'll talk, we'll say they lose
• 54:48
Speaker 1: at Tennessee. But then you got Florida, which Florida's shown
• 54:52
Speaker 1: they can be hot and cold. You have no idea
• 54:53
Speaker 1: what's going to happen there. You're coming off a loss.
• 54:54
Speaker 1: It's the whole pissed-off team situation. And then Mizzou, who
• 54:58
Speaker 1: just got their ass beat against Ole Miss.
• 55:00
Speaker 2: Like, yeah, they'll still, they all, they all, every SEC
• 55:04
Speaker 2: team is standing all holding a gun to each other.
• 55:07
Speaker 1: Like at the end of the day, you got to
• 55:09
Speaker 1: pick who you think is going to come out. And yeah,
• 55:12
Speaker 1: like I get it. I'm saying what makes you go
• 55:14
Speaker 1: away from Kentucky though? I don't know. I guess just overall,
• 55:18
Speaker 1: just the overall, go ahead. Oh shit.
• 55:20
Speaker 4: Maryland has fired Mike Loxley. As first reported on this
• 55:25
Speaker 4: show about 30 minutes ago.
• 55:28
Speaker 1: Moment of silence. The first domino has fallen. Chaos. The
• 55:32
Speaker 1: moment Will Coffin says, I want chaos. Look what happens.
• 55:35
Speaker 1: I think we got to go 10 seconds on this.
• 55:36
Speaker 1: The guy can speak anything into existence that doesn't involve Nebraska.
• 55:40
Speaker 2: Yeah, it's like Kentucky, Vanderbilt.
• 55:47
Speaker 1: They'll win that one.
• 55:47
  Speaker 2: Yep.
• 55:48
Speaker 1: At Tennessee, at Neyland. L. And then you got Florida.
• 55:52
Speaker 1: You know, broad stroke. Broad stroke. You don't know what's
• 55:55
Speaker 1: going to happen. Like when I'm taking Tennessee and making
• 55:56
Speaker 1: it in the playoff. If you're looking at it as
• 55:58
Speaker 1: if we're the season, you know, we have this sample size.
• 56:00
Speaker 1: It's like Tennessee, Florida, Mizzou, and Louisville. That's their last
• 56:03
Speaker 1: four-game stretch. But, like, Florida and Mizzou, they have numbers
• 56:07
Speaker 1: next to their name. But are they teams that, like,
• 56:09
Speaker 1: we're really scared of? No. No, I'm not scared of them.
• 56:14
  Speaker 4: Yeah.
• 56:15
  Speaker 5: Yeah.
• 56:15
Speaker 4: I mean, Missouri just got held to 39 rush yards
• 56:17
  Speaker 4: against Ole Miss.
• 56:18
  Speaker 1: Which is crazy.
• 56:18
Speaker 4: Ole Miss rushing out actually was the most singular surprising
• 56:22
Speaker 4: result out of all.
• 56:23
Speaker 1: This stuff last week. Yeah. All these upsets.
• 56:26
Speaker 4: When historians look back at week seven, they'll go, yeah,
• 56:29
Speaker 4: Notre Dame fell. Yeah, Bama fell. Yeah, Georgia fell. Ole
• 56:33
Speaker 4: Miss held Missouri to 39 rushing yards? And that's where
• 56:37
Speaker 4: we knew it was off the rails.
• 56:38
Speaker 2: The game I was most excited about, and I'm like, yeah,
• 56:40
Speaker 2: what a– when the field kicker missed that one, we're
• 56:43
Speaker 2: standing at Texas Tech– And it was only 14-3. And
• 56:46
Speaker 2: I want to say the field goal kicker missed like
• 56:48
  Speaker 2: a five-yard field goal.
• 56:51
Speaker 1: Probably a little bit longer than that. But a short
• 56:53
Speaker 1: field goal. I look at Cody, and it's over. The
• 56:55
  Speaker 1: game's over. Like, you can't. Oh, it's over. It's done.
• 56:59
Speaker 1: It is. Yeah, the SEC is just fascinating right now.
• 57:04
Speaker 6: I have one quick question, then get to your picks.
• 57:07
Speaker 6: Josh made me think about Wake Forest. What if they
• 57:09
Speaker 6: went out? It's Miami Wake in the ACC championship, and
• 57:13
Speaker 6: Miami sits their players and lets Wake win.
• 57:17
Speaker 4: And if there's anything I know about Mario Cristobal, it's
• 57:20
  Speaker 4: that he's a little soft and non-competitive. So I could
• 57:23
Speaker 4: easily see that happening.
• 57:24
Speaker 6: There would be no advantage to them winning that game, though.
• 57:26
Speaker 6: They beat them head-to-head regular season, conference championship. The CFP
• 57:29
Speaker 6: already said doesn't have that much weight. And then it
• 57:33
Speaker 6: would get an SEC team or a Big Ten team
• 57:35
Speaker 6: out of the playoff.
• 57:36
Speaker 1: There's no dumb questions. There's no dumb questions. Let's start
• 57:39
Speaker 1: with that. Like maybe questions allude to your intelligence, but
• 57:42
Speaker 1: no dumb questions. Like we're like, oh, we had to
• 57:44
Speaker 1: figure out why he decided to ask that question. Oh,
• 57:47
Speaker 1: hold on a second. Yeah, what is it? Oh, no.
• 57:50
  Speaker 4: Hey.
• 57:51
Speaker 1: Oh, shit. Yeah. You guys look good this year. Yeah,
• 57:55
Speaker 1: he's over here. Ask him. Okay. Hey, Jake Dickard wants
• 58:01
Speaker 1: me to ask you.
• 58:03
Speaker 4: What if you throw all that in the garbage and
• 58:04
Speaker 4: they just beat Miami outright without them sitting players?
• 58:08
Speaker 1: They lost 33-20 when they played on the regular season.
• 58:10
Speaker 1: You're saying who took Miami to overtime last week? Oh, no.
• 58:15
Speaker 1: He said if Florida State could take them to overtime,
• 58:16
Speaker 1: they could beat them. All right. I'm with you. He's
• 58:21
Speaker 1: with you. It's that easy. All right. Good luck this week, man. Yeah,
• 58:24
Speaker 1: I saw you got fired. All right. I have a question.
• 58:31
Speaker 1: Dumb question. Go ahead, Mitch. Mitch, this is the best
• 58:34
Speaker 1: time to ask a question.
• 58:36
Speaker 7: When he asked that question, I felt pretty good about mine. But, like,
• 58:38
Speaker 7: that whole conversation you guys just had is basically a
• 58:41
Speaker 7: moot point whenever we go to the 2014 playoff. So
• 58:44
Speaker 7: it just kind of, like, the chaos that you guys,
• 58:46
Speaker 7: we all want, is why it should have stayed at
• 58:48
Speaker 7: a 12. Or if you want to move up to
• 58:50
  Speaker 7: a 16, I think the 24 playoff team, you guys
• 58:53
Speaker 7: talked about it last week on Boston and Pete, is, like,
• 58:54
Speaker 7: the worst thing for college football.
• 58:57
Speaker 1: I salute him. I hand over my heart. Not a question,
• 59:00
Speaker 1: definitely a statement, but a good one nonetheless. It's a worldview.
• 59:03
Speaker 1: So we're kind of 0 for 2. Still a good statement.
• 59:07
Speaker 1: That's a good statement. Yeah. I got a question for you.
• 59:11
Speaker 1: Now's the best time to ask a question.
• 59:13
Speaker 5: Who's going to win Indiana-Michigan? What's your pick?
• 59:17
Speaker 1: Oh, Michigan. You should introduce it. Yeah, we can get it. Oh, guys.
• 59:22
Speaker 1: We can't have fun talking ball? We got to run
• 59:25
Speaker 1: through these. We got to run through what you mean.
• 59:28
Speaker 1: My futures, I just, some of my win totals. Got
• 59:32
Speaker 1: a nice. Run through them? All right, Texas A &
• 59:37
Speaker 1: M under eight and a half. That one's going to cash.
• 59:40
Speaker 1: Tennessee over seven and a half.
• 59:42
Speaker 2: That one's going to cash. Feel good. Vandy under 5.5.
• 59:46
Speaker 2: I feel confident in that one. Penn State under 9.5.
• 59:49
Speaker 1: Sorry, Jesse. Nebraska over 6.5. That one is going to cash.
• 59:54
Speaker 1: Texas Tech over 10.5. Sorry, I got something in my eye.
• 59:56
Speaker 2: Texas Tech over 10.5. Feel good about it right now.
• 59:59
Speaker 2: Still feel good about that one. Kansas under 5.5. That
• 1:00:03
Speaker 2: one's going to cash. I told everybody that Kansas was
• 1:00:05
Speaker 2: going to be a dud. Miami over 10.5. You got
• 1:00:08
Speaker 2: to feel good looking at that one. Louisville over eight
• 1:00:11
Speaker 2: and a half. That one's probably going to lose. No
• 1:00:14
Speaker 2: cash out available. Stanford under three and a half. Right
• 1:00:17
Speaker 2: now they're sitting at three wins. Now is when they
• 1:00:19
  Speaker 2: lose out.
• 1:00:20
Speaker 1: Now is when we hold on to our asses and
• 1:00:22
Speaker 1: they lose out. I feel good. They're not favorites in
• 1:00:25
Speaker 1: any of their games. You said Stanford? Stanford under three
• 1:00:28
Speaker 1: and a half. Congrats, you got Hawaii. That's it.
• 1:00:31
Speaker 2: I accidentally hit over three and a half in FanDuel.
• 1:00:35
Speaker 2: So I need to cash that because I got a
• 1:00:36
Speaker 2: little profit and then I'm going to take them losing
• 1:00:38
Speaker 2: out for the rest of the year.
• 1:00:40
Speaker 1: But that's Willie C's future picks. They got a quarterback
• 1:00:43
Speaker 1: over there that can sing a little bit. Yeah. Michigan
• 1:00:46
Speaker 1: guy beat cancer. And you're betting against him. Yeah, well, look.
• 1:00:52
Speaker 1: He hit the gong. Put him in a hole there.
• 1:00:53
Speaker 1: He's going to lose. There is no way. Dude, no.
• 1:00:56
Speaker 1: He rung the bell. He rung the bell. That's the
• 1:00:58
Speaker 1: longest short of it. Is that not a big enough W?
• 1:01:01
  Speaker 1: That's a huge W. He already got in. But it's
• 1:01:03
  Speaker 1: a team game. He's already in. It's a team game.
• 1:01:05
  Speaker 1: It's a team game.
• 1:01:07
Speaker 2: Quick potty break from the episode. Whether I'm at a
• 1:01:09
Speaker 2: tailgate or on the couch watching Nebraska or Michigan versus
• 1:01:12
Speaker 2: Indiana this weekend on a Saturday, Jack Daniels is a
• 1:01:15
Speaker 2: staple on my game day roster. You can expand your
• 1:01:18
Speaker 2: playbook with the cinnamon kick of Jack Fire, the smooth
• 1:01:21
Speaker 2: taste of Jack Honey, the crisp and refreshing Jack Apple,
• 1:01:24
Speaker 2: and the only blackberry bursting with Jack. Personally, I am
• 1:01:28
Speaker 2: a Jack Honey type of guy. Very smooth, very delicious.
• 1:01:31
Speaker 2: On game day, no matter how you stack your unit,
• 1:01:33
Speaker 2: there's a Jack for every football fan. Let's get back
• 1:01:36
  Speaker 2: to the episode.
• 1:01:36
Speaker 1: All right, let's get in. Let's dive in. All right,
• 1:01:38
Speaker 1: let's dive in. Indiana and Michigan. Michigan is dogs by
• 1:01:45
Speaker 1: seven and a half points. At home. At home. Nuts.
• 1:01:49
Speaker 1: Total nut game is 41 and a half. I want
• 1:01:52
Speaker 1: to know where you guys stand. With you. What do
• 1:01:56
Speaker 1: you mean? With the points? I'm probably going to take under. Okay.
• 1:02:02
Speaker 1: 41 and a half. Is that right? 41 and a half.
• 1:02:04
  Speaker 1: I just said it. 41 and a half. Yeah, 41
• 1:02:05
  Speaker 1: and a half. That's one. Okay. Love Michigan's defense. You've
• 1:02:09
Speaker 1: said enough. I want to know what he has to say. No,
• 1:02:11
Speaker 1: I just. Hey, thank you. Hey, guess who else was
• 1:02:14
Speaker 1: seven and a half underdogs at home? Nebraska. Nebraska. Hey,
• 1:02:20
Speaker 1: you guys lost. What the fuck are we? We get excited.
• 1:02:23
Speaker 1: You still won with the, you took the points. True.
• 1:02:25
Speaker 2: Like I'm saying in this situation, like me taking the
• 1:02:28
Speaker 2: under and you probably feel this way as well. It's
• 1:02:30
Speaker 2: like Tommy Carr. This is a very good defensive line,
• 1:02:33
Speaker 2: a very good defensive unit in Indiana. I love Michigan's defense.
• 1:02:36
Speaker 2: I think Michigan's defense keeps them in the ballgame. It
• 1:02:38
Speaker 2: all comes down to Tommy Carr and his first actual
• 1:02:41
Speaker 2: career start against this defense.
• 1:02:43
Speaker 1: Can they move the ball? Can they keep it close? Yeah.
• 1:02:46
  Speaker 1: So I like under 41 and a half. But I'm
• 1:02:49
Speaker 1: with you, bro. Like, of course I want Michigan to win.
• 1:02:52
Speaker 1: What's your microscopic computer say about this game? It thinks
• 1:02:55
Speaker 1: the line is right.
• 1:02:57
Speaker 4: So it doesn't say anything. She hasn't made a lot
• 1:02:59
Speaker 4: of money this year. Imagine how much she would make
• 1:03:01
Speaker 4: if it was big. I am going to take the
• 1:03:05
Speaker 4: over on this game because I don't think the offensive
• 1:03:08
Speaker 4: profile and reputation of Michigan could be any lower. Like
• 1:03:11
Speaker 4: that's what's baked into that number. I also just have
• 1:03:15
Speaker 4: a theory that Indiana's passing game can produce more than
• 1:03:21
Speaker 4: what it's produced. Like offensively, I think they can produce
• 1:03:23
Speaker 4: a little bit more. So I'm not going to get
• 1:03:25
Speaker 4: sucked into a Brigham Young, Notre Dame under type trap again.
• 1:03:29
Speaker 4: I don't think this flies over the total, but I
• 1:03:31
Speaker 4: think it's going to go over the total. So I'm
• 1:03:33
Speaker 4: going to go two units over 41 and a half.
• 1:03:36
Speaker 4: As for the game itself, I lean Indiana to win
• 1:03:39
Speaker 4: the game, but I think it'd be, actually, I'd probably
• 1:03:43
Speaker 4: lay the seven and a.
• 1:03:44
Speaker 1: Half if I had to. I think they'll win by
• 1:03:45
Speaker 1: like 10. He's kind of saying that Indiana might just
• 1:03:50
Speaker 1: cover the over by the time. Yeah, he took the over.
• 1:03:53
Speaker 1: He gave one small little compliment to Michigan that I
• 1:03:56
Speaker 1: hung on to for most of it, blocked out, and
• 1:03:58
Speaker 1: then he came back to Indiana's going to score 40
• 1:04:00
Speaker 1: points in this game. What compliment did I give to Michigan?
• 1:04:02
Speaker 1: They're as under the radar of an offense as they
• 1:04:04
Speaker 1: could possibly be. Yeah, all you need to say is
• 1:04:07
Speaker 1: that it's a bad offense. And they're baking that in. Yeah.
• 1:04:10
Speaker 1: And they couldn't be worse. He's saying maybe the offense
• 1:04:12
Speaker 1: hasn't been tapped yet. They're very undervalued. Yeah. That's basically
• 1:04:15
Speaker 1: all he said. Right. You're going to score. You're going
• 1:04:18
Speaker 1: to score. We're going to score. He's saying a field
• 1:04:21
Speaker 1: goal or two. No, he's not. He might be. 35
• 1:04:25
Speaker 1: to 10. You don't believe in Tommy Carr? Gets me
• 1:04:27
Speaker 1: by over. I believe in him more than Bryce Underwood.
• 1:04:30
Speaker 1: That's nasty towards Bryce, but grandson of Lloyd Carr, legendary
• 1:04:33
Speaker 1: head coach, won a national championship.
• 1:04:35
Speaker 4: Do you want to disagree with that statement? Do you
• 1:04:37
Speaker 4: want to say you were bummed out when Tommy Carr
• 1:04:39
Speaker 4: got put in that game?
• 1:04:40
Speaker 1: I'm about winning games, dude. Listen, I don't look at stats. Actually,
• 1:04:44
Speaker 1: with Bryce, I look at stats every single time. But
• 1:04:47
Speaker 1: I try not to look at stats because at the
• 1:04:49
Speaker 1: end of the day, I just want to win. I
• 1:04:51
Speaker 1: just want my program to go in there and.
• 1:04:53
Speaker 4: Take care of business. Who gives you a better chance
• 1:04:55
  Speaker 4: to win?
• 1:04:56
Speaker 1: Tommy Carr. Five for seven for 46 yards. Are you
• 1:04:59
Speaker 1: kidding me? That's pretty nasty towards the right. Three rushes
• 1:05:03
Speaker 1: for 36 yards. The option. That's a Michigan Wolverine quarterback
• 1:05:06
Speaker 1: that you're trashing right now. Downhill running. They didn't change
• 1:05:08
Speaker 1: a whole lot. They stayed in the rhino, which everybody
• 1:05:10
Speaker 1: at Michigan hates. And they were operating like 8.7 yards
• 1:05:12
Speaker 1: per carry in the second half. Sounds like they're going
• 1:05:14
Speaker 1: to score this week. They're going to score this week, dude. Signetti.
• 1:05:19
Speaker 1: Two-game losing streak. You know what? Potential two-game losing streak coming.
• 1:05:22
Speaker 1: I'm pulling a Will here. I'm not going to give
• 1:05:26
Speaker 1: Signetti or that media team any bit of bulletin board.
• 1:05:29
Speaker 1: The fact that they came up to Will at Nebraska
• 1:05:32
Speaker 1: and then once again were in Indiana. Yeah. That's not...
• 1:05:36
  Speaker 1: I don't want that.
• 1:05:38
Speaker 4: And worse than that, the strength staff from two and
• 1:05:40
Speaker 4: three years ago came up to you at Tennessee.
• 1:05:41
  Speaker 5: Yeah.
• 1:05:42
Speaker 1: They've had the crosshairs over you for a while.
• 1:05:44
  Speaker 2: I wouldn't be surprised if there's just a printed out
• 1:05:46
Speaker 2: photo of me hanging up in an office somewhere.
• 1:05:50
Speaker 1: Indiana's a better football team. As of right now, they're
• 1:05:53
Speaker 1: the better touch team. They have the better offense. The
• 1:05:55
Speaker 1: only thing that Michigan probably has an edge in is
• 1:05:58
Speaker 1: the defense. And home field. And home field. In home field.
• 1:06:03
Speaker 1: Nebraska had him on the ropes in Lincoln. Nebraska, I
• 1:06:06
Speaker 1: looked at the edges of that stadium and I saw people.
• 1:06:11
Speaker 1: I saw the edges of the stadium in that Penn
• 1:06:13
Speaker 1: State game and I saw bleachers. And that kind of
• 1:06:16
Speaker 1: broke my heart a little bit. And that's just where
• 1:06:20
Speaker 1: we're at. It did break his heart.
• 1:06:21
Speaker 2: He had the game going and he's like, hey, did
• 1:06:22
  Speaker 2: you see that?
• 1:06:23
Speaker 1: And I'm like, no, what are you talking about? He's like,
• 1:06:25
Speaker 1: look past the players. Empty bleachers. It's hurt. For the
• 1:06:31
Speaker 1: sake of I'll tell you what, my sports book and
• 1:06:34
Speaker 1: on my community, I'll have Michigan Moneyline for the sake
• 1:06:37
Speaker 1: of this show. I'm going to take Michigan plus seven
• 1:06:40
Speaker 1: and a half. Do me all you want, dude. That's
• 1:06:43
Speaker 1: why you're over there. I'm taking Michigan. I'm taking Michigan
• 1:06:47
Speaker 1: plus seven and a half. Sometimes you kick one out
• 1:06:50
Speaker 1: and you got to pull the trigger and everyone kind
• 1:06:52
Speaker 1: of does this for a second. You got to pull
• 1:06:54
Speaker 1: the trigger. Everyone goes, all right, hold on for a second.
• 1:06:57
Speaker 1: Michigan plus seven and a half. I will be betting
• 1:07:00
Speaker 1: Michigan Moneyline. It's just... We did this with Oklahoma. And
• 1:07:05
Speaker 1: lightning struck. Am I going to stand in the same
• 1:07:07
Speaker 1: spot and ask lightning to strike again? I have a
• 1:07:10
Speaker 1: first year quarterback who weighs 187 pounds going against that defense.
• 1:07:16
Speaker 1: I would love nothing more than to feel stupid walking
• 1:07:19
Speaker 1: in here because Michigan blew them out. And we're like, oh,
• 1:07:21
Speaker 1: you could have got more units. I would love that situation.
• 1:07:25
Speaker 1: But we've got such a sample size of what's happened
• 1:07:28
Speaker 1: and a bunch of question marks of what could happen.
• 1:07:30
Speaker 1: So I just have to lean on the idea of
• 1:07:33
Speaker 1: Michigan plus seven and a half. Can't believe they're giving
• 1:07:35
Speaker 1: us more than a touchdown. And just hope to God.
• 1:07:39
Speaker 1: Kurt Cignetti, hell of a coach. Unbelievable. Not going to
• 1:07:44
Speaker 1: say anything nasty. Two losses can still get him in.
• 1:07:46
Speaker 1: Two losses can still get him in. But that's it, dude.
• 1:07:51
Speaker 1: Three units. I want to move on so bad. Plus
• 1:07:53
Speaker 1: seven and a half. Taylor LeJuan's pick. Yep. Michigan with
• 1:07:57
Speaker 1: the points. Of course. LSU at Auburn. I don't know
• 1:08:03
Speaker 1: how we pick up the energy after that.
• 1:08:06
Speaker 2: LSU at Auburn. LSU favored by 7.5. The total on
• 1:08:10
Speaker 2: this game is 50.5 points. I smell a bloodbath.
• 1:08:16
Speaker 1: Do you really? I smell a splattering. Auburn's going to
• 1:08:19
Speaker 1: do that to them? Oh, my. I don't think so. No.
• 1:08:23
Speaker 2: I think it's the other way around. LSU leads the,
• 1:08:26
Speaker 2: or not leads the country, 27 sacks. Jordan Ross.
• 1:08:30
Speaker 1: Oh, I'm blowing it. I'm blowing it right now. What's
• 1:08:32
Speaker 1: his last name, Jesse?
• 1:08:33
  Speaker 5: Who?
• 1:08:35
Speaker 1: Uman Mielan. Uman Mielan.
• 1:08:38
Speaker 2: There you go. Him and Jordan Ross collectively, like 45 pressures.
• 1:08:44
Speaker 2: You look at Auburn, Byron Brown. He's an easy sack.
• 1:08:48
Speaker 2: He's been sacked 23 times this year. Where they give
• 1:08:51
Speaker 2: up the most pressure is on the outside at both tackles.
• 1:08:55
Speaker 2: They've given up 23 pressures on the year. That's where
• 1:08:57
Speaker 2: they get their ass handed to them. I think they're
• 1:08:59
Speaker 2: going to sack Byron Brown. And I think too, Auburn
• 1:09:02
Speaker 2: doesn't generate a whole lot of pressure. Sam Levin is
• 1:09:05
Speaker 2: a completely different quarterback when he's got a clean pocket.
• 1:09:08
Speaker 2: So I like, I like LSU here. I think this
• 1:09:11
Speaker 2: is a, I think they handle business. I'm going to go,
• 1:09:13
Speaker 2: I'm going to go.
• 1:09:14
Speaker 1: Five units, LSU minus seven and a half against Auburn.
• 1:09:17
Speaker 1: No respect for Jordan Hare Stadium. I'm with you, though.
• 1:09:20
Speaker 4: I think LSU is going to win in cover, not
• 1:09:22
Speaker 4: to five unit degree. JP Pole came out last night.
• 1:09:25
Speaker 4: Ton of chaos, ton of carnage. Sneakily, LSU up to six.
• 1:09:30
Speaker 4: So the model is hardcore leaning in on LSU. Don't
• 1:09:34
Speaker 4: you have to think if the entire season looks like this,
• 1:09:38
Speaker 4: which it has for a lot of these teams, there's
• 1:09:40
Speaker 4: some team that has looked bad that's going to end
• 1:09:43
Speaker 4: up in the final four. And you're going to look
• 1:09:45
Speaker 4: back and say, man, I never would have expected this
• 1:09:47
Speaker 4: team to make it this far if we would have
• 1:09:49
Speaker 4: said that in late October. Kind of Miami last year.
• 1:09:52
Speaker 4: They've already lost to Louisville, SMU. What if I told
• 1:09:54
Speaker 4: you at that point Miami's going to play for a
• 1:09:56
Speaker 4: national title? That would have been pretty crazy. It's just
• 1:09:59
Speaker 4: who catches gear at the right time. And you've got
• 1:10:02
Speaker 4: a big letdown spot for Auburn here.
• 1:10:03
  Speaker 1: I don't know.
• 1:10:06
Speaker 4: It's not that I don't think the situational leans LSU.
• 1:10:09
Speaker 4: I am hesitant. believing in LSU on the road. They've
• 1:10:12
Speaker 4: been a way different team on the road than at home.
• 1:10:14
Speaker 4: Not to mention with Byron Brown, they ran him a
• 1:10:16
Speaker 4: ton last week. It's almost like they said, hey, if
• 1:10:20
Speaker 4: this is what it takes to win with him, then
• 1:10:23
Speaker 4: this is what it takes to win with him. I
• 1:10:24
Speaker 4: don't know if that's sustainable week over week. I think
• 1:10:27
Speaker 4: Blake Baker will be pretty ready for that. But like
• 1:10:28
Speaker 4: the LSU fans biggest gripe is what happens to our
• 1:10:31
Speaker 4: defense on the road? Like what happens to this team
• 1:10:34
Speaker 4: on the road? That's why I'm only going two units
• 1:10:36
Speaker 4: on this, but I will go two units on LSU
• 1:10:38
Speaker 4: minus seven and a half.
• 1:10:40
Speaker 1: Lane Kiffin, 500 as a head coach on the road.
• 1:10:42
  Speaker 1: He's 0-2 this year. Auburn does, I think they're in
• 1:10:46
Speaker 1: the 130s as far as sacks given up. LSU does
• 1:10:48
Speaker 1: a great job of getting pressure. And I don't think
• 1:10:51
Speaker 1: Auburn is better than Georgia. Like, I think we've played
• 1:10:53
Speaker 1: that game 10 more times. You know, they're probably going to,
• 1:10:56
Speaker 1: Georgia's probably going to win 10 of them. Schedule dynamics.
• 1:10:58
  Speaker 5: But.
• 1:10:59
Speaker 1: Byron Brown, the one thing he did last week that
• 1:11:01
Speaker 1: was great was take care of the football. He didn't
• 1:11:03
Speaker 1: give the football to the other team. If they're going
• 1:11:06
Speaker 1: to be successful, because he does, he'll have like X
• 1:11:08
Speaker 1: plays down the field and he'll just get into a
• 1:11:11
Speaker 1: receiver and it's 45, 50 yards. And it looks beautiful.
• 1:11:15
Speaker 1: And then he'll throw like a bubble screen or a
• 1:11:17
Speaker 1: little slant over the middle. And it's like a muffin
• 1:11:19
Speaker 1: that just hits the dirt. So there's a lot of inconsistency.
• 1:11:24
Speaker 1: If they're going to be successful at home against LSU,
• 1:11:27
Speaker 1: it's going to be the similar game plan they had
• 1:11:28
Speaker 1: against Georgia. Run them, exhaust them, be extremely aggressive. Get
• 1:11:33
Speaker 1: a turnover. Defensively, Auburn's had a pick in the last
• 1:11:35
Speaker 1: six games. Sam Leavitt will give you those. And LSU's
• 1:11:38
Speaker 1: been completely different on the road. I'm going to do
• 1:11:40
Speaker 1: Auburn plus seven and a half. I'll do three units
• 1:11:43
Speaker 1: on that. Do I feel very confident about it? No.
• 1:11:45
Speaker 1: I said last week three's my new one. Medium confidence. No, no.
• 1:11:49
Speaker 1: Three's my new one. Three's my new one. Low confidence.
• 1:11:51
Speaker 1: Low confidence. This is a low confidence three. I have
• 1:11:53
Speaker 1: high confidence threes out there, but right now this is
• 1:11:55
Speaker 1: my low confidence three. And that makes complete sense. So
• 1:11:57
Speaker 1: I'll take Auburn plus seven and a half. 11 a.m. kickoff,
• 1:12:01
Speaker 1: by the way, here. Morning kickoff. What does that mean?
• 1:12:05
  Speaker 1: I'm asking you because I don't know. I just hit
• 1:12:07
Speaker 1: myself in the face with a pumpkin. You think of LSU,
• 1:12:09
Speaker 1: you think of Tigers, you think of nighttime.
• 1:12:10
  Speaker 2: Yeah.
• 1:12:11
Speaker 1: I feel like they get up at night the most.
• 1:12:12
Speaker 1: But they beat Mississippi State 31-0 at 11 a.m. last week. No,
• 1:12:14
  Speaker 1: come on, Taylor. That's a good point. Yeah. That's a
• 1:12:17
Speaker 1: good point. And you knew that point too. You said
• 1:12:19
Speaker 1: it had a good run. You definitely gave me one
• 1:12:20
Speaker 1: of those, and I really appreciated it. Smashed the pumpkin. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
• 1:12:24
Speaker 1: Houston at Utah. Utah favored by six and a half points.
• 1:12:27
Speaker 1: Total points in that game is 56 and a half.
• 1:12:30
Speaker 1: Let me see. Your note should say Connor Wegman.
• 1:12:35
Speaker 2: It does, but I know we're wanting to run through
• 1:12:37
Speaker 2: these picks. Highest leverage game in college football. The winner
• 1:12:41
Speaker 2: of this game will have over a 50% chance. Somebody,
• 1:12:43
Speaker 2: whoever loses this game, drops it below 25%. Big stakes
• 1:12:46
Speaker 2: this weekend in college football. Connor, most productive quarterback in
• 1:12:50
Speaker 2: the Big 12. He's been dominant.
• 1:12:52
Speaker 1: Good run game. Good run game, but you're going up
• 1:12:54
Speaker 1: to Utah. Yep. Utah runs the football very well. They
• 1:12:58
Speaker 1: have a very good defense.
• 1:13:00
Speaker 2: They're allowing only 13 points per game.
• 1:13:02
Speaker 1: Here's the whole thing with Houston.
• 1:13:05
Speaker 2: If you can limit defense, Possessions with this team because
• 1:13:08
Speaker 2: Connor Wegman, he has been an absolute stud. Over a 50%
• 1:13:12
Speaker 2: clip on converting third downs. Oklahoma State couldn't get it
• 1:13:15
Speaker 2: done last week. Oklahoma State defense, bad. Houston offense, good.
• 1:13:19
Speaker 1: Yeah. Right here. If Utah can.
• 1:13:22
Speaker 2: Just limit opportunities, run the football, control the clock, keep
• 1:13:25
Speaker 2: Connor Wegman on the sideline, and you get these guys
• 1:13:28
  Speaker 2: below 10 possessions.
• 1:13:29
Speaker 1: UCF tried to do it.
• 1:13:31
Speaker 2: They only allowed five possessions in the first half.
• 1:13:34
Speaker 1: UCF was up 10-0. Second half, Houston gets seven shots
• 1:13:37
Speaker 1: at it, 27-17. Texas Tech.
• 1:13:40
Speaker 2: They gave up seven possessions in the first half. They
• 1:13:43
Speaker 2: were down 17-14. You go into the second half and
• 1:13:45
Speaker 2: you hold this team and limit them to four possessions,
• 1:13:48
Speaker 2: they end up winning that football game. Houston had the opportunity,
• 1:13:51
Speaker 2: didn't get the two-point there at the end. If Utah
• 1:13:53
Speaker 2: is built to win this game and to do just
• 1:13:55
Speaker 2: that and up in Utah, I like Utah here in
• 1:13:58
  Speaker 2: this spot.
• 1:13:59
Speaker 1: I'm going to go Utah minus six and a half.
• 1:14:02
Speaker 2: Give me two units on that. Not the most confident game.
• 1:14:05
Speaker 2: Not the most confident, but that would be the path.
• 1:14:08
Speaker 1: Yeah, Utah's stats, they look incredible, especially off the side
• 1:14:11
Speaker 1: of the ball you put the film on. Very difficult
• 1:14:13
Speaker 1: to even know what they're doing at any time. Like
• 1:14:15
Speaker 1: you have... They appear, and then you've got your backup
• 1:14:19
Speaker 1: quarterback in the slot, and then you've got a defensive
• 1:14:21
Speaker 1: tackle over an F alignment, and then the ball goes
• 1:14:24
Speaker 1: five different directions, and they've gassed you for a 30-yard run.
• 1:14:27
Speaker 1: Very impressive. The thing that gives me hesitation on Utah
• 1:14:30
Speaker 1: is that they haven't played anybody just yet. Houston's kind
• 1:14:33
Speaker 1: of been through the meat grinder a little bit. Texas Tech,
• 1:14:35
Speaker 1: they take them down to the wire, have just a
• 1:14:37
Speaker 1: wrist's worth of a gap where they could have won
• 1:14:41
Speaker 1: that game. Also, Oklahoma State. Connor Wegman, dude. Five touches
• 1:14:45
Speaker 1: in that game. He had an interception the first game
• 1:14:50
Speaker 1: and the first drive against Oklahoma State. Other than that,
• 1:14:52
Speaker 1: he's taking care of the football. He's been incredible. Great
• 1:14:55
Speaker 1: run game. Utah's going to try to make them one-dimensional.
• 1:14:58
Speaker 1: I like Houston here. I like just because they've been
• 1:15:01
Speaker 1: forging the fire a little bit more. They took what
• 1:15:04
Speaker 1: we thought was a big battle with the Big 12
• 1:15:05
Speaker 1: down to the wire in that game. So I'll take
• 1:15:07
Speaker 1: them plus six and a half. I'm going to do
• 1:15:10
Speaker 1: a confident three on that one. Confident three? That's a
• 1:15:12
Speaker 1: confident three. You better slap a table.
• 1:15:15
  Speaker 4: Yeah, I need about 20 seconds here. I think Houston's
• 1:15:17
Speaker 4: better than Utah. I think they've got a better staff
• 1:15:20
Speaker 4: than Utah. I think they've got a better quarterback than Utah.
• 1:15:22
Speaker 4: I've loved them on the road all year. I'll take
• 1:15:24
Speaker 4: Houston plus six and a half, five units.
• 1:15:26
Speaker 1: It's going to be a great edit. It's going to
• 1:15:29
Speaker 1: be a great edit when you go down. That's kind
• 1:15:31
Speaker 1: of nasty. Scouting, 19 years with the program. I've had
• 1:15:34
Speaker 1: this one circled. Really? Yeah, I think this is a
• 1:15:37
Speaker 1: really good spot for Houston. I like that. Big one here.
• 1:15:40
Speaker 1: Why don't you go on any line? I may in
• 1:15:42
Speaker 1: my personal life. Thin air. Really thin air. After what
• 1:15:46
Speaker 1: happened to us last week, it's very difficult to go
• 1:15:47
Speaker 1: and make big swings like that. It is really difficult. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
• 1:15:49
Speaker 1: North Dakota State at New Mexico. New Mexico's favorite, minus
• 1:15:53
Speaker 1: four and a half. Total in that game is 41
• 1:15:55
Speaker 1: and a half points. Both these teams, what they want
• 1:15:57
Speaker 1: to do, they want to run the ball. They want
• 1:15:59
Speaker 1: to get after it. They want to run the ball.
• 1:16:00
Speaker 1: New Mexico leads the country in interceptions. They lead the
• 1:16:04
Speaker 1: country in turnover margin. They're number five in forced fumbles.
• 1:16:08
Speaker 1: So North Dakota State, it's very clear. You have to
• 1:16:10
Speaker 1: take care of the football if you want to keep
• 1:16:11
Speaker 1: yourself in this game. I think this is a low
• 1:16:13
Speaker 1: scoring affair. This is for defensive sickos. I'm going to
• 1:16:17
Speaker 1: go under 41 and a half points here. All right.
• 1:16:19
Speaker 1: And I will go medium confident three. The three was
• 1:16:24
Speaker 1: the new one. So medium would be four. You obviously
• 1:16:26
Speaker 1: haven't been listening. There was the non-confident three. And then
• 1:16:30
Speaker 1: there was the very confident. This is a true three.
• 1:16:32
Speaker 1: This is a down the middle. And that's two times.
• 1:16:37
Speaker 1: I've gone on somebody on this show and I kind
• 1:16:39
Speaker 1: of believe it's because of you. Yeah. I don't want
• 1:16:41
Speaker 1: to point it myself. God forbid. I would never want
• 1:16:43
Speaker 1: to do that. But yes, under 41 and a half.
• 1:16:48
Speaker 2: Give me New Mexico. Top five in offense, top five
• 1:16:51
Speaker 2: in defense as far as scoring goes. If this was
• 1:16:53
Speaker 2: in Fargo, I'd love North Dakota State here. Going on
• 1:16:56
Speaker 2: the road in New Mexico and then head coach just
• 1:16:58
Speaker 2: stripping the belt from his defensive players. I kind of
• 1:17:02
Speaker 2: love that. So I'm going to go New Mexico here
• 1:17:04
Speaker 2: minus four and a half. Give me Three units.
• 1:17:09
Speaker 4: If that New Mexico fan base is worth its salt,
• 1:17:12
Speaker 4: if that New Mexico fan base is what I know
• 1:17:14
Speaker 4: they can be, they'll sell this game out.
• 1:17:17
Speaker 1: They should sell this game out. It should be a
• 1:17:19
Speaker 1: sellout in Albuquerque. Clip that. Okay.
• 1:17:22
Speaker 4: Now, as for the game, I think New Mexico is
• 1:17:24
Speaker 4: going to win in cover here. I hate North Dakota
• 1:17:26
Speaker 4: State screwed this up because we could have been at
• 1:17:29
Speaker 4: this game had they not gotten mullined. Dan Mullen scored
• 1:17:32
Speaker 4: 13 and that was enough on him. And Dan Mullen
• 1:17:35
Speaker 4: was bragging about that win. It's like, you didn't win
• 1:17:36
Speaker 4: because of offense. What are you talking about? So I
• 1:17:38
Speaker 4: think New Mexico can hold them. And I think scored
• 1:17:41
Speaker 4: just enough here. I don't know about the total. You
• 1:17:43
Speaker 4: may be right on the total. I'm not going to
• 1:17:44
Speaker 4: mess with the total. I'm going a true medium confidence
• 1:17:47
Speaker 4: three unit, New Mexico minus four and a half.
• 1:17:50
Speaker 1: Medium confidence three. A true three.
• 1:17:51
  Speaker 2: Yes.
• 1:17:52
Speaker 1: A true three. A true three. Gravely game of the week.
• 1:17:54
Speaker 1: We're ripping through it right now. Tennessee at South Carolina.
• 1:17:57
Speaker 1: This is where Bustin' and Payton on campus will be. Yes.
• 1:18:00
Speaker 1: This Friday from two to three Eastern time. It's going
• 1:18:03
Speaker 1: to be absolutely electric. South Carolina, by the way, really
• 1:18:06
Speaker 1: promoting the boys. Promoting us since Monday. Since... since Josh
• 1:18:10
Speaker 1: Payton revealed that he was going there for his don't
• 1:18:13
Speaker 1: tread on fall tours. I could be at a totally
• 1:18:15
Speaker 1: different place. And it's like, oh shit, Josh is going there?
• 1:18:18
Speaker 1: I wonder where the boys are headed. Sure enough, it
• 1:18:21
Speaker 1: aligned yet again. All right, boys, real quick.
• 1:18:23
Speaker 2: Just want to tell you about a profit boost token

• 1:18:44
Speaker 2: making this college football season your most rewarding yet.
• 1:18:48
Speaker 1: This game, South Carolina. crazy. Favored by two and a half.
• 1:18:53
Speaker 1: Total in that game is 50 and a half points.
• 1:18:54
Speaker 1: That's not how it opened, though. What was it? That's
• 1:18:57
Speaker 1: not how it opened. Two and a half, Tennessee? Tennessee
• 1:18:59
Speaker 1: was favored. Public? I don't know that the public moves
• 1:19:02
Speaker 1: the number that much. So what happened? Some legit money
• 1:19:05
  Speaker 1: moved it.
• 1:19:06
  Speaker 6: Oh.
• 1:19:07
Speaker 4: I think someone looked and said, well, you tell me
• 1:19:09
Speaker 4: one team's playing their eighth game in a row coming
• 1:19:12
Speaker 4: off an emotional letdown spot against a rival last week.
• 1:19:14
Speaker 4: And another team was in bed all weekend at home
• 1:19:17
Speaker 4: in October. I think some people realized schedule dynamic nightmare here,
• 1:19:23
Speaker 4: just like Georgia had themselves in against Auburn last week.
• 1:19:26
Speaker 4: People are saying that this is going to be our
• 1:19:27
Speaker 4: biggest crowd yet for busting and paid on campus on Friday.
• 1:19:31
Speaker 1: Are you buying that? Do you think that's going to happen?
• 1:19:33
Speaker 1: Do you think the South Carolina way bought in? Yeah,
• 1:19:35
Speaker 1: I'm fully bought in on that. I'm putting that on
• 1:19:38
Speaker 1: the bus. That's on the bus. That's on the bus
• 1:19:40
Speaker 1: for Cocktober. That's a great question. Best crowd yet?
• 1:19:43
Speaker 4: If it's not, you know who's got to wear that. Reputationally.
• 1:19:49
Speaker 1: Yeah, Darius Rucker and? J.P. Hovey. Yep.
• 1:19:52
Speaker 5: Darius Rucker just came out with a song called I Believe.
• 1:19:55
  Speaker 1: And that ain't a coincidence.
• 1:20:01
Speaker 4: With that in mind, I'm taking South Carolina plus two
• 1:20:03
Speaker 4: and a half for four units.
• 1:20:04
Speaker 1: Minus two and a half? Yeah, minus two and a
• 1:20:06
Speaker 1: half for four units. Yeah, I actually really like him
• 1:20:09
Speaker 1: in this spot. That's a really confident three.
• 1:20:11
Speaker 4: Well, if I were making the case for Tennessee, I
• 1:20:13
Speaker 4: would say, yeah, all the schedule dynamics, whatever. We run
• 1:20:16
Speaker 4: the ball really well, and we can play really, really
• 1:20:19
Speaker 4: good defense. And that's all true. So I think it's
• 1:20:23
Speaker 4: going to be like a meat grinder of a game. But, man,
• 1:20:27
Speaker 4: watching South Carolina get their act together against Florida, where
• 1:20:30
Speaker 4: their stars finally played as stars, and the whole deal
• 1:20:33
Speaker 4: with Dylan Stewart, Like him getting suspended from that team
• 1:20:37
Speaker 4: and obviously the come to Jesus moment happened and they
• 1:20:40
Speaker 4: bring him back. He played 70 something plays against Florida.
• 1:20:44
Speaker 4: He just never comes off the field Like all their
• 1:20:46
Speaker 4: guys started playing like those guys are supposed to play.
• 1:20:49
Speaker 4: And then imagine the momentum you take into the bye week.
• 1:20:52
Speaker 4: And Tennessee's rolling in here playing their eighth straight. Look,
• 1:20:55
Speaker 4: last week notwithstanding, I still don't trust the quarterback play
• 1:20:59
Speaker 4: for Tennessee. So if they can control this game like
• 1:21:02
Speaker 4: they control Bama, okay. But if South Carolina can pop
• 1:21:05
Speaker 4: them early, which South Carolina's been prone to do this year,
• 1:21:07
Speaker 4: and make them play and trail a little bit, Tennessee
• 1:21:10
Speaker 4: can give the ball up too. So I love South Carolina.
• 1:21:13
Speaker 4: I think the home atmosphere– at Williams-Brice Stadium. It's always
• 1:21:17
Speaker 4: the most underrated in college football, and coming out of
• 1:21:19
Speaker 4: the bye, they are ready to flex this weekend. Low 70s, sunshine,
• 1:21:25
Speaker 4: mid-afternoon kickoff, where the second half is with the sun setting,
• 1:21:28
Speaker 4: fading into night, which I think is the perfect time
• 1:21:30
Speaker 4: slot for a college football game. It is a South
• 1:21:33
  Speaker 4: Carolina weekend.
• 1:21:36
Speaker 6: It was a Bama weekend last weekend, too.
• 1:21:39
  Speaker 1: That's true, J.K. That's true. God. I know. I'm going
• 1:21:46
Speaker 1: Tennessee money line. I'm going three units.
• 1:21:52
Speaker 2: It is, it's almost like at what point do you
• 1:21:54
Speaker 2: get off the merry-go-round and knowing all these let down
• 1:21:57
Speaker 2: spots happen? I agree with you that quarterback play is
• 1:21:59
Speaker 2: still a massive question mark for Tennessee. But when I'm
• 1:22:03
Speaker 2: watching McIntyre try and deal, to me, it's like when
• 1:22:05
Speaker 2: he's in the film room positionally, he's just so urgent
• 1:22:08
Speaker 2: in his play that he's missing a couple reads. I
• 1:22:11
Speaker 2: just think once he settles down, now that they got
• 1:22:13
Speaker 2: a massive win against Alabama, you feel that juice, you
• 1:22:16
Speaker 2: feel that win. I think McIntyre, he's definitely untapped, but
• 1:22:20
Speaker 2: I think he gets going a little bit more once
• 1:22:22
Speaker 2: he just settles his body, his urgency down and his
• 1:22:24
Speaker 2: feet down to hang on to a couple reads a
• 1:22:26
Speaker 2: little bit longer. I think South Carolina is going to
• 1:22:28
Speaker 2: have trouble blocking this Tennessee front. And if you get
• 1:22:32
Speaker 2: into a spot where you need the tight end and
• 1:22:34
Speaker 2: the running back to stay in at pass pro, and
• 1:22:36
Speaker 2: then you're only, you know, that Jim Knowles defense is
• 1:22:39
Speaker 2: only dealing with three guys, you know, on the perimeter
• 1:22:42
Speaker 2: or over the middle, I think that's where it becomes
• 1:22:44
Speaker 2: an issue. Because if they're able to block the front
• 1:22:48
Speaker 2: and Lenore Sellers makes you miss a couple times, extends
• 1:22:50
Speaker 2: a few plays, that's where you're going to get some
• 1:22:52
Speaker 2: massive Cocktober juice going into Williams-Brice Stadium. I just don't
• 1:22:57
Speaker 2: see it happening. I like Tennessee here. I'm going to
• 1:22:59
Speaker 2: take a money line. I'm going to go three units.
• 1:23:02
Speaker 2: What kind of three?
• 1:23:05
Speaker 1: It's a good three. Give me four units. Oh, wow.
• 1:23:07
Speaker 1: So you could have just said confident three. I know.
• 1:23:10
Speaker 2: Somebody pull up the leaderboard. Yeah, I either want to
• 1:23:14
Speaker 2: get in a hole here or I'm coming for all
• 1:23:17
Speaker 2: your asses up top. You and I had this conversation
• 1:23:19
  Speaker 2: on the plane.
• 1:23:20
Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. We already know what the deal is. I
• 1:23:22
Speaker 1: can't go against Tennessee three times in a row. It's
• 1:23:25
Speaker 1: such a big part of our fan base. They've been
• 1:23:27
Speaker 1: so good to us, and I've done nothing but just
• 1:23:29
Speaker 1: spit in their face. Two times of the two opportunities
• 1:23:31
Speaker 1: that I've had I'm gonna go Tennessee. I'm gonna go
• 1:23:34
Speaker 1: Tennessee money line here I do like total in this
• 1:23:37
Speaker 1: game I do like the under because both teams like
• 1:23:39
Speaker 1: to run the ball the biggest thing that swayed me
• 1:23:42
Speaker 1: away from South Carolina is yes They jumped up early
• 1:23:45
Speaker 1: and they fizzle out in the second half the thing
• 1:23:47
Speaker 1: that gets me is is what South Carolina are we
• 1:23:50
Speaker 1: going to see? Because Nick Harbor has all of the
• 1:23:53
Speaker 1: tools in the entire world to be successful, except for
• 1:23:56
Speaker 1: the ability to consistently catch the football. Like Lenore Sellers
• 1:24:00
Speaker 1: is an absolute alien, but all of a sudden is
• 1:24:04
Speaker 1: turnover prone. Both teams love to run the ball. Deshaun Bishop.
• 1:24:09
Speaker 1: It ain't just Harbor. A couple of them guys just
• 1:24:11
Speaker 1: dropped the damn ball. I know, but you look at
• 1:24:13
Speaker 1: Harbor and you're like, look at him. Yeah, perimeter screen,
• 1:24:16
Speaker 1: hits him in the chest, drops. I think Dylan Stewart
• 1:24:22
Speaker 1: is a massive factor in this game. We saw it
• 1:24:24
Speaker 1: with Simmons in the Texas game. I just... Stewart will
• 1:24:29
Speaker 1: pull it out. McIntyre kind of looked nice. He kind
• 1:24:31
Speaker 1: of looked nice in the second half of that game.
• 1:24:32
Speaker 1: He made a couple of good throws. He had a
• 1:24:34
Speaker 1: good game. And he can just take things that the
• 1:24:36
Speaker 1: defense gives him. He doesn't have to make shots. Like,
• 1:24:38
Speaker 1: they have a quality run game. And Josh Eiffel figures
• 1:24:42
Speaker 1: out where your offensive issues are, and he fixes them
• 1:24:45
Speaker 1: in a week-to-week time. Sometimes at halftime. So, I'm going
• 1:24:49
Speaker 1: to go Tennessee. Tennessee. It's a sad three.
• 1:24:52
  Speaker 7: Oh.
• 1:24:52
Speaker 1: Because I would love to go Tennessee. I would love
• 1:24:54
Speaker 1: to have the quota of Tennessee plus two and a half,
• 1:24:56
Speaker 1: but South Carolina wins the game. But I just have
• 1:24:59
Speaker 1: to be full. I have to be full of GBO.
• 1:25:01
Speaker 1: I can't do it to Jack as many times as
• 1:25:02
Speaker 1: I can. We haven't been to Vegas to where we
• 1:25:04
Speaker 1: can kind of refuel our friendship in a while. So
• 1:25:07
Speaker 1: I could feel us foundationally falling apart. I'm straight up.
• 1:25:12
Speaker 2: I wish I could slap the table in this game
• 1:25:14
Speaker 2: because I know JP wants back against the wall mentality.
• 1:25:17
Speaker 5: You need that. Last time we went to Columbia, Taylor Road,
• 1:25:21
  Speaker 5: Tennessee also.
• 1:25:23
Speaker 1: Wait, make no mistake. Our backs are against the wall. Hey, no.
• 1:25:29
  Speaker 1: That's crazy.
• 1:25:30
Speaker 5: Listen, I appreciate you, but your back ain't against the wall.
• 1:25:34
Speaker 1: Did you see how many units I put on this game?
• 1:25:37
Speaker 5: Josh, you see how many bullets you put in my
• 1:25:39
  Speaker 5: chest all year?
• 1:25:41
Speaker 1: Sarah McLaughlin special. You're alive. Because of me. You're right
• 1:25:46
Speaker 1: about a lot of things, but the way you handle
• 1:25:47
Speaker 1: the trenches is one of the craziest things. It'll just
• 1:25:53
Speaker 1: be next to you. Wait a second. What the hell
• 1:25:55
Speaker 1: is going on here? I got here just a second ago.
• 1:25:59
Speaker 1: I may not be here long. But I'm here right now. Hey,
• 1:26:02
Speaker 1: the stuff that Neyland Stadium put Keelan Russell through last week,
• 1:26:07
Speaker 1: no concern in Williams-Brice Stadium putting George McIntyre through that? Yeah.
• 1:26:14
Speaker 1: I'm terrified for him. Yeah, absolutely.
• 1:26:17
Speaker 5: You're sleeping on our fan base.
• 1:26:18
Speaker 1: Tennessee's not walking into this game being like, we got
• 1:26:21
Speaker 1: McIntyre's got to toss it around the yard right now.
• 1:26:24
Speaker 1: He's sleeping on us. Hey, don't do that. Hey, I'll
• 1:26:29
Speaker 1: go four. I'll go for it. I got exactly what
• 1:26:32
Speaker 1: I wanted out of that. Okay, Josh. I got exactly
• 1:26:35
Speaker 1: what I wanted out of that.
• 1:26:36
Speaker 5: We're going to have Josh in there shirt off, Sandstorm.
• 1:26:38
Speaker 1: You don't need a towel. Should we get to our dogs?
• 1:26:42
Speaker 1: Before we get to our dogs, listen. I've had a
• 1:26:45
Speaker 1: lot of thinking on this show. And I'd like to
• 1:26:49
Speaker 1: just go back to the first pick real quick. I'm
• 1:26:52
Speaker 1: going to go Michigan Moneyline. Oh, the flip around. Yeah,
• 1:26:54
Speaker 1: I'm going to go Michigan Moneyline. That's respectable. I was
• 1:26:57
Speaker 1: trying to be responsible. I was trying to be the
• 1:27:00
Speaker 1: guy that said, hey, I'll take points, and they gave it. Hopefully,
• 1:27:03
Speaker 1: I'm going Michigan Moneyline, five units. Guilty five. Guilty five.
• 1:27:07
Speaker 1: This is a guilty five. This is the Titanic. They
• 1:27:10
Speaker 1: realize the Titanic's going down, and the captain goes to
• 1:27:13
Speaker 1: open the door to go sit and watch the water come,
• 1:27:15
Speaker 1: and he has that moment of, I could really just
• 1:27:17
Speaker 1: get on a lifeboat and be straight for the next
• 1:27:20
Speaker 1: 20 years, couldn't I? But he made the right choice.
• 1:27:23
Speaker 1: And although I faltered at the door, I'm still going
• 1:27:25
Speaker 1: to go in and take that death if I have to.
• 1:27:28
Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm absolutely telling you, I'm the dude who pushed
• 1:27:31
Speaker 4: the women and children out of the way and sat
• 1:27:32
  Speaker 4: there in shame.
• 1:27:33
Speaker 1: You're the guy that shot the guy.
• 1:27:36
  Speaker 2: I'm alive.
• 1:27:37
Speaker 1: You're the guy that shot the dude. Hey, we get
• 1:27:39
Speaker 1: to shore, no one knows what happened out there. This
• 1:27:42
Speaker 1: guy killed the guys at International Waters. Like, what are
• 1:27:44
Speaker 1: you going to do about that? Exactly. Yeah. All right,
• 1:27:47
Speaker 1: Dog of the Week. Arizona State splattered last week in
• 1:27:50
Speaker 1: Texas Tech. We got to see it. They're playing Kansas State.
• 1:27:53
Speaker 1: They got three and a half points in this. I
• 1:27:54
Speaker 1: believe in Dillingham. Give me them. I know it's only
• 1:27:57
Speaker 1: one unit, but I'll just say one unit. If it
• 1:27:58
Speaker 1: could be five units, sure, we'll do five, but it's
• 1:28:00
Speaker 1: only one. We kind of believed in them before they
• 1:28:01
Speaker 1: took the field last week in Texas Tech. I think
• 1:28:03
Speaker 1: we both believed what was going to happen. I didn't
• 1:28:06
Speaker 1: know it was going to be that bad. I didn't
• 1:28:07
Speaker 1: think it was going to be that bad, but I
• 1:28:08
Speaker 1: think after you get past three scores, it's like it's
• 1:28:11
Speaker 1: all just there. Yeah. That's an ass-beating you take that
• 1:28:14
Speaker 1: when you're on the bus is you're already over it.
• 1:28:16
Speaker 1: Because you're getting over it in the third quarter like,
• 1:28:17
Speaker 1: holy shit, they did that to us? Dang, they're running
• 1:28:21
Speaker 1: it up. Yeah. You've been in games, you sit there,
• 1:28:24
Speaker 1: you got your hands on the shoulder pads, you're like, fuck.
• 1:28:27
Speaker 1: They beat the shit out of us today. By the
• 1:28:29
Speaker 1: time you're in the shower, you're like, all right, we're
• 1:28:30
Speaker 1: going to be all right. We're going to be okay.
• 1:28:31
Speaker 1: Who we got? Kansas State?
• 1:28:33
  Speaker 4: All right.
• 1:28:33
  Speaker 1: Yeah, okay.
• 1:28:34
Speaker 2: I'm gonna go uh classic letdown spot i'm gonna take
• 1:28:37
Speaker 2: ucf plus six and a half love it versus by
• 1:28:41
Speaker 2: love it byu massive emotional win out pro but they
• 1:28:44
Speaker 2: gotta fly all the way to florida i like ucf
• 1:28:48
Speaker 2: here plus six and a half as my dog of.
• 1:28:50
Speaker 4: The week umass plus 14 and a half against yukon
• 1:28:53
Speaker 4: pure model play First game I bet, Sunday. That and
• 1:28:56
Speaker 4: South Carolina were legitimately the two games I bet on Sunday.
• 1:29:00
  Speaker 4: Don't know why, but I love UMass. I think that's
• 1:29:02
Speaker 4: a Friday or a Thursday game. It's not a Saturday game.
• 1:29:04
Speaker 4: UMass plus 14.5 against UConn.
• 1:29:07
Speaker 1: Love that. All right, weekly parlays. Josh got another three-piece,
• 1:29:12
Speaker 1: and I kind of like it. Where's it at?
• 1:29:14
