- 1:27[SPEAKER_01]: And the second half, I guess we'll talk about some remedies and some things going forward.
- 1:32[SPEAKER_01]: God knows we're going to talk a lot about that this coming off season.
- 1:35[SPEAKER_01]: You could wonder why.
- 1:37[SPEAKER_04]: Coming off season.
- 1:38[SPEAKER_03]: Are we going to talk about a lot about the coming off season?
- 1:41[SPEAKER_03]: We're going to be a little hit at it.
- 1:42[SPEAKER_01]: We'll hint at it.
- 1:45[SPEAKER_01]: Well, we'll see that season already.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_04]: You know, this is going to show the wrong way around, but on our board of destiny, we are all in one, after average.
- 1:55[SPEAKER_01]: And the dolphins are all one.
- 1:56[SPEAKER_01]: Are any of us going to have a better record than the dolphins?
- 1:59[SPEAKER_04]: I think that's it.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_04]: Sit.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_04]: I don't think it will be hard.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, all right.
- 2:10[SPEAKER_01]: Well, let's start here.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_01]: For those of you that are listeners to this show, you know, sometimes I like to come up with a question out of left field.
- 2:16[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want to ask about what happened on second and 20.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_01]: Like who gives a shit?
- 2:20[SPEAKER_01]: Storm Duck is terrible.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_01]: We know that already.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_01]: So I like to come up with a question out of left field and a question that the boys don't know.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_01]: So that way I get their honest and instant reaction.
- 2:37[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sold on the North Sellers, Nussmire, who are you sold on?
- 2:44[SPEAKER_01]: And sold on, don't give me this feel like this guy could be good and that guy could be good and I got to watch this guy.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_01]: Guy, you would take right now, give me a couple of names that you're sure are gonna be nice players, good quarterbacks that you would take in round one in the 2026 draft.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_01]: Simon.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, I have not watched with any no quarterbacks for, and for people listening thinking while they're doing this, that we will get to that, but it's clear and obvious that there is a reset coming.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_04]: You can't get rid of two a this year, you can't trade him.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_04]: You could do a split, you can cut him, but the cap hit is something like 75 million dollars.
- 3:23[SPEAKER_04]: Chris would talk you through the money side of that and yet the idea that but Chris and I were talking about this actually we had some technical problems Chris and I were talking about this and basically the game last night that sounded like football with Lamar and Josh doing up another field.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_04]: We've talked about this.
- 3:36[SPEAKER_04]: You need an idea, right?
- 3:37[SPEAKER_04]: You need a guy that can run, that can throw out of those big, that is tough, that is physical, that can just do things out of structure.
- 3:45[SPEAKER_04]: And that, to me, would be South Carolina's Lord Norris Sellers, there's a long way to go, but he would remind me Chris of one of those kind of alien guys.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_04]: There are lots of caught about seven to the next two years, aren't you?
- 3:56[SPEAKER_04]: Man, those are the Indiana Kid, Gary, and that's my right LSU, Drurala.
- 3:59[SPEAKER_04]: Dice that we like, Chris loves tailing green the arc and so kids and some leather.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_04]: The Arizona State Kid is expert in John the Tears, like Bacon, Makefield, 2.0.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_04]: one of the great quotes of the season so far was the Bruce Feldman interview in the T.A.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_04]: where he was talking to the offensive coordinator of our client.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_04]: He told him to watch Joe Barrow because Joe Barrow was the king of the check downs and the T.A.
- 4:21[SPEAKER_04]: just said, yeah, pissed those checks downs, that's on around, run around and do some shit, which I think is amazing.
- 4:27[SPEAKER_04]: But yeah, look, it all ties back Chris doesn't it to where we're going as a team, but I suppose to me, I feel like to compete you have to have an alien and sellers
- 4:39[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I think there's three guys that I keep spot lighting as having that, you know, great gross talent quotient, I think, which is, you know, the big arm playmaking ability, but also athleticism feet, and just overall ability to make plays out of almost nothing, you know, or make big throws, make that, you know,
- 5:05[SPEAKER_03]: challenge every piece of the field.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_03]: And those guys are Lenore Sellers Taylor, Taylor and Green and Jalen Daniels of Kansas.
- 5:13[SPEAKER_03]: I think Jalen Daniels get slept on.
- 5:16[SPEAKER_03]: I understand why people would be a little bit uncomfortable with him in terms of the back injury history and nobody in Miami wants to hear anything about an injury history now understandably.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_03]: But at the same time, he is a remarkable leader, a very good person, and a very good quarterback.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_03]: And if we've, you know, looked in the past at, you know, some of the criticisms about him, I think some of the criticisms about him from an accuracy standpoint were a little bit Josh Allen like, you know, in terms of, hey, it's a low completion percentage and things like that, but but it's gotten better.
- 5:55[SPEAKER_03]: year by year and I think at various points of series completing like 80% I mean I took a took two games before I even saw this first pair of our off target passes this year and you know I think he's a hell of a playmaker as far as just being able to to whip the ball around the field and and make plays with his feet and his legs.
- 6:21[SPEAKER_03]: He's a little bit small though, and he's a little bit injury prone, and again, nobody in Miami wants to hear anything about those two things.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_03]: So, but so that gives you tail and greed and linore sellers.
- 6:31[SPEAKER_03]: Tail and green is one of the better Throwers while scrambling, you know, especially scrambling toward the sideline that I've seen in a while.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_03]: Probably since Josh Allen.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_03]: I think Jalen Daniels does that too, but we're talking about, you know, those sort of alien throws as your full speed running out of bounds and it finds its way 50 yards down the field into the end zone and it's just, you know, into somebody's outstretched hands.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_03]: Just this unbelievable place, but does he process things fast enough for this offense?
- 7:04[SPEAKER_03]: Then again, is this offense even going to be here?
- 7:07[SPEAKER_03]: So I think that that's, those are the three guys that I would take a look at most closely.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_03]: Newsmyer, I'm just not there.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_03]: I have to study him really closely because he's a, he's kind of a nuanced guy.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_03]: You know, and it's about reading the defense.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_03]: It's about doing everything right.
- 7:24[SPEAKER_03]: It's about anticipation.
- 7:26[SPEAKER_03]: And you really got to study that pretty closely.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_03]: Because if the guy doesn't have the alien abilities, you reference time.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_03]: then that's, you know, you know, what kind of player you're taking and you have to make sure that you're getting that kind of player.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_01]: And so yeah, part of me, by the way, I'm a little bit under the weather.
- 7:44[SPEAKER_01]: This team has got me like kind of sick.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_01]: So anyway, let's talk about this this game because we we kind of have to, they've noticed I killed like a least seven minutes that way.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_01]: We only had to talk about this game for about eight or nine.
- 7:58[SPEAKER_01]: Simon.
- 8:00[SPEAKER_01]: Who do you blame for stormed I'm gonna get to the quarterback trust we want when I tell you this?
- 8:06[SPEAKER_01]: But who do you blame for stormed duck not being able to play cover two because it's not physical?
- 8:13[SPEAKER_01]: It's what is brain is telling him to do on a certain play and it's all over the place
- 8:20[SPEAKER_01]: On the title war in 21, you are a connection of which I put on our discord today.
- 8:25[SPEAKER_01]: And by the way, if you want to become a member of our discord, discord.gg, you could see it right there on my name.
- 8:29[SPEAKER_01]: You could see it in the scroll, forward slash only fence.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_01]: So you got to go to discord, discord.gg, forward slash only fence.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_01]: You become a member there.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_01]: All access for 99 a month.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_01]: Do it on a desktop.
- 8:40[SPEAKER_01]: Don't get robbed by Apple.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_01]: So Simon, who do you blame for them putting Stormduck in a position where he routinely fails?
- 8:51[SPEAKER_01]: And it's not physical, it's his brain that's getting in the way.
- 8:55[SPEAKER_01]: On the Tyler Warren 21-yard completion, which was a backbreaker, because that led to the third score.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_01]: He decides, I'm gonna triple team Michael Pittman in cover two.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not going to carry the same, I'm not going to carry the red line, I'm off of the red line, and I'm running into the pulse where there's two safeties, who's standing on that side of the field, Tyler Warren, where does the ball go, Tyler Warren?
- 9:24[SPEAKER_01]: Like that's just stupidity, who gets blamed for that, Simon?
- 9:28[SPEAKER_04]: Look at that, I think, and Storm Duck is a microcosm of everything that's wrong, I suppose, in many regards, that the person to blow away do you start?
- 9:37[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, Stephen Ross, it is to blame ultimately.
- 9:41[SPEAKER_04]: And I think rather than focusing on one player, I think that we have to kind of look at the whole thing.
- 9:47[SPEAKER_04]: And, you know, we could sit here and do a deep dive and really dissect the last five or six years as Chris and I were discussing off the air.
- 9:54[SPEAKER_04]: The owner is to blame for a lot of this, you know, and I do get it, I get the reset in 2020 and trying money at TyreeKill and all the things that happen.
- 10:07[SPEAKER_04]: But the statement that came at the end of the last season, saying that we were retaining Chris Greer certainly and Mike Medanio to a lesser degree, the complete disregard for the feeling of the fan base who continues to refuse, understandably, because why wouldn't you?
- 10:26[SPEAKER_04]: to be vote with their feet and their dollars by turning up to games.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_04]: But also the fact that loyalty, you know, and he's shown huge loyalty to people who don't deserve it.
- 10:39[SPEAKER_04]: The act lights that surround him, while I include Damler Edo in that, I include Tom Garpinkling that.
- 10:44[SPEAKER_04]: I include Brandon Shaw in that, and those people around that front office who have continued to go with the status quo, and look at our front office as made for people who've been part of the problem for 20 years.
- 10:54[SPEAKER_04]: you know, and the chief architect of that is the general manager, you know, who essentially you go out to 2020 and as each day goes past, you know, you look at that draft and in fact, the build up that, you know, the fact that we beat the Bengals and, you know, the timing didn't have the chance to draft Joe borrowed.
- 11:12[SPEAKER_04]: We ended up taking two at a hindsight as a beautiful thing, we all love two, but the hindsight reality is that we left that draft with two who, you know, is even a replaying football in two years' time and he is generally perpetually under performed and disappointed, Austin Jackson, who is injured again and we don't know how long the time cannibals came to be out, but has been mediocre at best.
- 11:33[SPEAKER_04]: He's had one solid season, he got paid off the back of that to be mediocre at best.
- 11:36[SPEAKER_04]: I know Eggman Ogreau's not been on the team for two years.
- 11:39[SPEAKER_04]: you could have had all sorts of, you know, just in Herbert, Justin Jefferson, CD Lamb Jonathan Taylor, you know, John Brooks, John Brooks, yeah, but, you know, you know, just in words we talked about on draft, they could have moved up the board and, you know, we had the picks to be able to do those sorts of things.
- 11:55[SPEAKER_04]: But it's a good idea.
- 11:56[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, I tend to rub you, but you mentioned CD Lamb, that's instructive, because they tried to get CD Lamb.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_01]: and tried to trade with the cowboys, and the cowboys told them, are you guys joking?
- 12:07[SPEAKER_01]: We're taking a seat.
- 12:08[SPEAKER_04]: I'm trying to take Brandon and I, who can the 49ers move to head of the land, and they ended up taking it.
- 12:12[SPEAKER_01]: So after Intel was terrible on their draft.
- 12:15[SPEAKER_04]: And then the following year, you've got the third overall pecky.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_04]: Panaisal, Jamar Chase, Micah Passers, all three are almost certainly going to the Hall of Fame, even at this point.
- 12:24[SPEAKER_04]: As somebody gets a terrible injury and stops playing.
- 12:26[SPEAKER_04]: You know, Jalen model is now perpetually injured.
- 12:30[SPEAKER_04]: They moved down to the 12th spot and they traded back up and you know, you can argue that point.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_04]: So I think Chris Greer takes an awful lot of blame.
- 12:37[SPEAKER_04]: I think the coaching staff take a lot of blame.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, when you hear Daniel talking after the game yesterday about Chris, the issues that we didn't prepare for a certain blitz, we weren't.
- 12:46[SPEAKER_04]: They would just look, it was embarrassing, it was shameful.
- 12:49[SPEAKER_04]: Like it was,
- 12:51[SPEAKER_04]: I'm so tired of this shit, and actually, like I said to you guys, just say, look, it's almost got to the point.
- 12:56[SPEAKER_04]: I knew this was going to happen.
- 12:57[SPEAKER_04]: I've said all of these in this team isn't really good.
- 12:59[SPEAKER_04]: This secondary is terrible.
- 13:01[SPEAKER_04]: I think I was proven yesterday.
- 13:03[SPEAKER_04]: I didn't expect certain things to be, I didn't expect the court back to be as bad, and he was really bad.
- 13:08[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, the old 22 is awful.
- 13:09[SPEAKER_04]: I was just looking at the fourth downplay there where he goes left into triple coverage.
- 13:14[SPEAKER_04]: and he's got a Jalen model literally like he's got 20 yards in front of him and he's two yards, three yards clear of the DB and single coverage to the backside.
- 13:22[SPEAKER_04]: He never comes back side at all yet again.
- 13:26[SPEAKER_04]: So the coaching was terrible.
- 13:28[SPEAKER_04]: It was just embarrassing.
- 13:29[SPEAKER_04]: It was like you talk all of season Chris about being tough and being changing the culture and being all of these things and you get punched into my mouth up and down the field and the fact that like that I know they scored on
- 13:43[SPEAKER_04]: like the HN court behind the line of screenage and like you think that is the that is a some total of our ambition.
- 13:49[SPEAKER_04]: The very first play of the game, but it is a nine-year-old run to do on HN.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_04]: In Gold, absolutely smack someone in the mouth and they go down the field.
- 13:59[SPEAKER_04]: And you think, oh, this is, you know, first play, this is, this is nice, this is, you know, and then they never, they never run, they never run the same run concept again at the entire game and you just think like, why do you go away from what's working so quickly, the, the thing to be no, there's no juice, there's no energy here, having another meltdown, the sideline, the core back just looks like so average like you got out, you know,
- 14:29[SPEAKER_04]: There's got to be, like, I've had some people associated with, you know, it's only week one, it's like, and I get that.
- 14:35[SPEAKER_04]: But this is not a train wreck that we haven't seen coming Chris, every.
- 14:38[SPEAKER_04]: This has been coming down the pipe for a while.
- 14:39[SPEAKER_04]: And, you know, the pigeons are coming, or the dolphins are coming home to roost.
- 14:45[SPEAKER_04]: This is indicative of what I think is to come over the next, you know, a few weeks.
- 14:49[SPEAKER_04]: And if we lose to the Patriots next week, and, you know, the Patriots play the raid and the raid is pretty tough, you'll say.
- 14:56[SPEAKER_04]: If we lose to the Patriots next week,
- 15:00[SPEAKER_04]: We live to the bills, and we're on three, and I think the Daniel's going.
- 15:04[SPEAKER_03]: Who's the blame for stormed up?
- 15:06[SPEAKER_03]: Back to the original question.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_03]: Chris Greer is the blame for stormed up.
- 15:11[SPEAKER_03]: I think that you're looking at a defense that doesn't play the defense that the defense wants to play.
- 15:18[SPEAKER_03]: You know, Anthony Weaver, the scheme that he wants to play, he is not staffed.
- 15:23[SPEAKER_03]: That that couldn't be more clear in the all 22.
- 15:26[SPEAKER_03]: These guys don't know how to play zone.
- 15:28[SPEAKER_03]: These guys don't know how to play with their eyes on the quarterback.
- 15:31[SPEAKER_03]: They don't know how to handle their assignments, they don't know how to pass off between zones, they don't know how to do anything from a zone context.
- 15:41[SPEAKER_03]: And you really only saw the defense start to light up a little bit, and this is not saying much that they're better this way, but because there's clearly so awful in zone, they're a little bit better in man.
- 15:55[SPEAKER_03]: You know, and you saw that sometimes when you got into the red zone and you got into into some of those scoring opportunities for their cults and held them to field goals at times.
- 16:08[SPEAKER_03]: What you saw in those instances was a little bit of a switch to more man and in the red zone and they were better.
- 16:16[SPEAKER_03]: There was better coverage.
- 16:19[SPEAKER_03]: There was at least some challenging.
- 16:21[SPEAKER_03]: of the offense of the scope position players.
- 16:24[SPEAKER_03]: So what you have is a defense that is not built to play the scheme.
- 16:29[SPEAKER_03]: And that you have to lay on the general manager.
- 16:31[SPEAKER_03]: And I asked somebody asked me, how does that happen?
- 16:34[SPEAKER_03]: How does that even happen?
- 16:36[SPEAKER_03]: And it's sort of like a comedy of errors.
- 16:38[SPEAKER_03]: It's just, you know, peace meal, this thing happened, then this thing happened, then this thing happened.
- 16:42[SPEAKER_03]: You know, Storm Duck was a UDFA.
- 16:44[SPEAKER_03]: He wasn't supposed to be anything.
- 16:46[SPEAKER_04]: It's not Storm Duck's home.
- 16:48[SPEAKER_03]: No, it's not.
- 16:48[SPEAKER_03]: He wasn't supposed to be anything.
- 16:51[SPEAKER_03]: He played his way into relevancy last year, which is a credit to him.
- 16:55[SPEAKER_03]: Right, but unfortunately, because he did that, he became an asset and nobody stopped to say, yeah, but is this asset actually fit the defensive scheme.
- 17:07[SPEAKER_03]: He doesn't.
- 17:09[SPEAKER_03]: Kater Koho would have fit the defensive scheme better, right, I think Ali Khan Ali talked about that.
- 17:15[SPEAKER_03]: Jack Jones does not he didn't it couldn't be more obvious in all 22.
- 17:19[SPEAKER_03]: He doesn't not know what he's doing out there.
- 17:25[SPEAKER_03]: It's got all heart, you know, he's all heart and balls, but no head as far as as far as his own goes.
- 17:32[SPEAKER_03]: And so what you have is I think you have linebackers that, you know, some of them know how to play his own, some of them don't.
- 17:39[SPEAKER_03]: Willy Gaden play a single snap.
- 17:40[SPEAKER_03]: I think that's part of the problem to be honest.
- 17:44[SPEAKER_03]: Tyrell Dodson, you know, is very up and down, very up and down during that game.
- 17:49[SPEAKER_03]: Overall, you have edge rusher's who get pulled back and, you know, just compare Bradley Chub to Leia to Latu Latu Latu came up with the pick as a defense event as a defense event dropper, right?
- 18:13[SPEAKER_03]: And I'm talking about linebackers as well as some defensive backs.
- 18:16[SPEAKER_03]: Layout to Latu, the defensive end, play its own better than those guys.
- 18:20[SPEAKER_03]: Play it better with his eyes on the quarterback than those guys.
- 18:25[SPEAKER_03]: Bradley Chubkint and couldn't do the same.
- 18:26[SPEAKER_03]: He had the opportunity to do it.
- 18:29[SPEAKER_03]: and he didn't, he just failed.
- 18:32[SPEAKER_03]: So I think this is, who do you blame for stormed up?
- 18:34[SPEAKER_03]: It's really on the general manager for failing to staff the defense as they're going to play it, as they intended to play it.
- 18:42[SPEAKER_03]: And Anthony Weaver's at some point going to have to make a choice.
- 18:45[SPEAKER_03]: Do we start playing man more, even though I don't really want to?
- 18:49[SPEAKER_03]: You know, so that, there's that.
- 18:51[SPEAKER_03]: And if we're talking about other things if we're getting a little bit broader and we're talking about quarterbacks,
- 18:57[SPEAKER_03]: the way this thing has failed from the start.
- 19:00[SPEAKER_03]: You know, clearly we got to start talking about to it.
- 19:04[SPEAKER_03]: I think in a different way than we have been with respect to how we played in this game, one of the worst games we've seen in play, frankly.
- 19:15[SPEAKER_03]: And now we start wondering if this is a 27 year old who is not in a 27 year old's body anymore, not in a 27 year old's brain anymore.
- 19:26[SPEAKER_04]: Coincidentally, they didn't look right at them.
- 19:28[SPEAKER_03]: No, he did not look right and I think that I think that we have to start talking about whether he has, you know, whether he has post production syndrome, whether he, whether he is able to
- 19:59[SPEAKER_03]: And I think that he didn't have the physical ability ever, but that doesn't mean that his physical ability isn't diminishing anyway, what little he had.
- 20:12[SPEAKER_03]: We are talking about a guy that had a catastrophic hip injury coming out of college.
- 20:17[SPEAKER_03]: And it was acknowledged, broadly, that he'd have a short career because of it, or shorter career.
- 20:23[SPEAKER_03]: then don't get a big idea of this guy playing until he's 40.
- 20:28[SPEAKER_03]: In other words, that sort of thing.
- 20:31[SPEAKER_03]: And we have to start asking the question, and if, you know, if he's got, he's got hardware and his ankles, he's got hardware and his hip.
- 20:38[SPEAKER_03]: He's taken five or six concussions.
- 20:41[SPEAKER_03]: And, and is the accumulation of these injuries resulting in a player who looks like he should be in his
- 20:50[SPEAKER_03]: any more.
- 20:51[SPEAKER_03]: And is that how things are going to end for him?
- 20:55[SPEAKER_03]: We kind of think of, while he's going to start a game healthy like the bill's game last year, but not leave the game healthy.
- 21:02[SPEAKER_03]: Like that's how it's going to end.
- 21:04[SPEAKER_03]: It's going to end with a big hit in the wrong spot, and then he just doesn't play again.
- 21:10[SPEAKER_03]: But maybe this looks a little different.
- 21:12[SPEAKER_03]: Maybe it actually
- 21:18[SPEAKER_03]: And I hate to bring that up because it's just one game, but within the context, you really do have the question that and then the dolphins will, you know, and then other dolphins will start the question that particularly if he keeps having those games.
- 21:34[SPEAKER_01]: For those of you out there that are thinking, oh my god, so that means that he's going to be this from now no.
- 21:40[SPEAKER_01]: He could absolutely, you know, fire lightning bolt out of his ass, this coming Sunday.
- 21:45[SPEAKER_01]: But then this will creep around six games for more.
- 21:50[SPEAKER_03]: I think you'll have four games and four great games and then two or two more of these.
- 21:54[SPEAKER_03]: That's how it ends up working.
- 21:55[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I think he's too much on his own head about getting, about getting injured, about protecting himself.
- 22:02[SPEAKER_04]: But like you go back to that fourth down play and he's got trips to the left.
- 22:07[SPEAKER_04]: and water the play that I talked about earlier, and if he stands in the pocket and makes the throw, it's like the two point conversion play to Julian.
- 22:14[SPEAKER_04]: He has a walk in.
- 22:16[SPEAKER_04]: walking, touchdown, running the ball and he just can't do it because he can't, there's enough space to get to the goal line, but he might have to take on a tackle that and he can't do it, and it's just like run man, just run and actually the two point conversion happens, because he or his man actually falls over, doing a Hillsman falls over, so he can complete the past, but it's just like
- 22:38[SPEAKER_01]: If I was to know, man back there and he just can't, the cognitive stuff is bad, but also just the ability to take a hit or not, and I can't hit, like I get it, it must be, you know, the place, we're going to go to break right now, but the play before the interception, the first interception, the he just sailed and that's, you know, that's just bad mechanics, he's loading his back foot again, and he's not
- 23:04[SPEAKER_01]: He's not turning his hips.
- 23:05[SPEAKER_01]: Look last night.
- 23:06[SPEAKER_03]: Can we also just say about that one outfit that you're throwing to a five foot eight receiver in the middle of field.
- 23:12[SPEAKER_03]: You're trying to layer the ball up and down.
- 23:16[SPEAKER_03]: But he's made that throw up to a five foot.
- 23:17[SPEAKER_03]: He has made it.
- 23:18[SPEAKER_03]: He has made it.
- 23:19[SPEAKER_03]: He has, it's true, but it is, it is not an easy throw and we've sort of taken that for granted.
- 23:25[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that is.
- 23:26[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but look last night and we're talking about
- 23:31[SPEAKER_01]: Last night, they were talking about how Josh Allen in year five worked with the quarterback coach for an entire off season because he had problems unlocking his hips and throwing to the left side of the field.
- 23:44[SPEAKER_01]: If that's Josh Allen that had to go to work on that in year five, wouldn't it make sense for two or two to still be working on things in year six?
- 23:54[SPEAKER_01]: Because he worked on this.
- 23:56[SPEAKER_01]: a couple of years ago and it seemed to have he seemed to have solved his issues throwing off of his back foot and not unlocking his hips not driving the football and all of a sudden his shows up and he sells a pass and it's intercepted the play right before that.
- 24:13[SPEAKER_01]: Tyreek does a very, very interesting thing.
- 24:16[SPEAKER_01]: They simulate like a zero and Tyreek decides, you know what, I'm gonna break off my route and I'm gonna run it as a glance behind the linebacker because there could be space, guess what, it works.
- 24:27[SPEAKER_01]: But two it just looks at them and then goes front side and throws to the only guy who's covered, which is Jalen Wattel and sure, it's a three-yard completion.
- 24:36[SPEAKER_01]: Good night.
- 24:37[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's worth right.
- 24:37[SPEAKER_01]: You might have had a touchdown if you go to Tyreek.
- 24:40[SPEAKER_04]: I think it's worth making the point that he isn't the only reason why we lost.
- 24:43[SPEAKER_04]: He was, you know, not only awful, but even on the same reason.
- 24:47[SPEAKER_03]: The defense was worse than the offense.
- 24:48[SPEAKER_03]: If he gave you no chance, but he gave you no chance, but he gave you no chance.
- 24:52[SPEAKER_04]: But, you know, rarely does he ever put the team on his shoulders to do that.
- 24:58[SPEAKER_04]: He wasn't good.
- 24:58[SPEAKER_04]: The run game wasn't great, but I thought we moved away from it way too early.
- 25:02[SPEAKER_04]: We didn't get only Gordon involved at all, and if I like, you should've got only Gordon involved.
- 25:06[SPEAKER_04]: But the run blocking wasn't very good.
- 25:08[SPEAKER_04]: I thought Patrick Paul was excellent.
- 25:10[SPEAKER_04]: Seven hours okay, but he wasn't very good.
- 25:13[SPEAKER_04]: A brew I thought was pretty decent.
- 25:16[SPEAKER_04]: Right side was a disaster, I thought I didn't think I was suggesting it was very good.
- 25:19[SPEAKER_04]: Keon Smith was a disaster when he came in obviously Daniels is out for multiple weeks now.
- 25:23[SPEAKER_04]: The receivers just weren't very good, but they were also the spacing was bad.
- 25:26[SPEAKER_04]: The route combinations were bad.
- 25:28[SPEAKER_04]: It just didn't look, tight ends were poor, tight ends were falling off blocks.
- 25:33[SPEAKER_04]: Like there was none of that kind of getting in-goed involved and just having a, you know, what's the point of having a fullback?
- 25:38[SPEAKER_04]: And you're just just, if you really want to be a physical team, just run the fullback through the middle and smash somebody in the mouth with only Gordon running behind in-goed.
- 25:46[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they go start in one.
- 25:48[SPEAKER_01]: They brought in Ali Gordon.
- 25:49[SPEAKER_01]: Ali Gordon runs over a linebacker and then he doesn't get another snap for the next 18 snaps.
- 25:55[SPEAKER_03]: Well, you know what was interesting about the very next play though on Alf on that one.
- 26:00[SPEAKER_03]: And sorry Simon.
- 26:02[SPEAKER_03]: You got that that particular that particular drive.
- 26:05[SPEAKER_03]: The dolphins kept the same personnel out there 22 personnel.
- 26:12[SPEAKER_03]: with eloquent engold out there as well.
- 26:15[SPEAKER_03]: So that was 22 personnel.
- 26:17[SPEAKER_03]: And this is kind of this kind of emblematic of of what the the cults were doing offensively with Lou and Arumo is they had base out there for that 22 sure that 22 personnel short yard is played.
- 26:30[SPEAKER_03]: They didn't go heavy.
- 26:32[SPEAKER_03]: They went base out there.
- 26:34[SPEAKER_03]: And then the very next play, it almost looked like the dolphins were trying to uptempo and keep the same personnel out on the field to catch, you know, to catch maybe the the cults in whatever personnel that they were using to stop short yardage.
- 26:49[SPEAKER_03]: except that they didn't actually go up tempo.
- 26:51[SPEAKER_03]: The cults did sub out for a nickel.
- 26:54[SPEAKER_03]: And so you had a nickel defense out there against 22 personnel, two tight ends and an alkane gold.
- 27:00[SPEAKER_03]: And the dolphins ran a play action pass to alkane gold into the flat, you know?
- 27:06[SPEAKER_03]: And it was just, it was, you really, okay, that's your bet.
- 27:11[SPEAKER_03]: You have 22 personnel out there.
- 27:13[SPEAKER_03]: You are a lot heavier than that nickel defense right now, right?
- 27:17[SPEAKER_03]: you are a lot heavier than that nickel defense out there, jam it right up their gullet, down their gullet.
- 27:23[SPEAKER_03]: And they can't, they can't do that.
- 27:25[SPEAKER_03]: They run a play action pasta to Alec in gold because they think that he's got a speed advantage against linebacker Joe Batchy.
- 27:34[SPEAKER_03]: What?
- 27:35[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 27:36[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 27:37[SPEAKER_03]: I think that they worked thoroughly out coached in addition to everything else.
- 27:41[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 27:42[SPEAKER_04]: They were really badly outcouched.
- 27:44[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to get to that now.
- 27:45[SPEAKER_01]: But we got to go to break first.

- 30:45[SPEAKER_01]: So everything was bad in this game.
- 30:47[SPEAKER_01]: I can't I struggled to find anything good.
- 30:49[SPEAKER_01]: I guess, you know, he changed the player, but He cannot be out there on third down ever again I think I just don't understand.
- 30:59[SPEAKER_01]: I just don't understand I just don't understand Look the money Jen is a really really good player a really good player.
- 31:07[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, but he's being misused
- 31:09[SPEAKER_01]: He can, yes, he can, he can not play in past pro.
- 31:13[SPEAKER_01]: He has to be receiving the ball or running the ball, touching the ball on the perimeter.
- 31:18[SPEAKER_01]: That's it.
- 31:19[SPEAKER_01]: If you keep them in the block, you're doing your entire team at the service.
- 31:23[SPEAKER_01]: You're doing your quarterback at the service.
- 31:24[SPEAKER_01]: You're doing him at the service, because you're making him look bad.
- 31:28[SPEAKER_01]: Wasn't Jeff Wilson out there though?
- 31:30[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, how would you make one snap?
- 31:33[SPEAKER_03]: But he was available.
- 31:34[SPEAKER_03]: One more than what he gave.
- 31:35[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, everyone's so so you don't you're not I mean, I realize they were stuck in this awkward position of, you know, do we have Devonne a channel out there on third down, which means that sometimes he's going to have to block because this can be dictated by the defense and in fact, Lou and Arumo does a great job of dictating on defense, right.
- 31:55[SPEAKER_03]: You know, you're in a little bit of a mind, you're like, do I, if I have to on a channel out there, I can use them in the passing game.
- 32:01[SPEAKER_03]: And that's really, uh, that's really good.
- 32:04[SPEAKER_03]: Um, because he's a dangerous weapon that way, but also you can be dictated to where he has to come in and pass, protect based on what the defense of coordinator does.
- 32:14[SPEAKER_03]: So it's a little bit of, uh, it's a little bit of, uh, you know, um,
- 32:21[SPEAKER_03]: But Ali Gordon is a rookie and understandably, you're going to be nervous about him having him out there on third down.
- 32:29[SPEAKER_03]: Does he have full grasp on the playbook?
- 32:30[SPEAKER_03]: This is what Alex Madison was supposed to be here for.
- 32:33[SPEAKER_03]: Does he have the full grasp on the playbook to where he's trustworthy on those third notes?
- 32:37[SPEAKER_03]: Well, okay, so you brought back Jeff Wilson.
- 32:40[SPEAKER_03]: There you go.
- 32:41[SPEAKER_03]: There you have it.
- 32:42[SPEAKER_03]: But what happened on the field on Sunday?
- 32:47[SPEAKER_03]: They had Devon HN out there past protecting.
- 32:49[SPEAKER_03]: badly.
- 32:50[SPEAKER_03]: And so it's it's it's really questionable, um, what the choices that they made.
- 32:57[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, uh, I don't learn how to be coached.
- 32:59[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I don't understand and look at it and I do feel sorry for for Mike McDaniel because he's not he's not he's not incompetent, okay?
- 33:08[SPEAKER_01]: Like he's a really smart guy.
- 33:10[SPEAKER_04]: He's clearly out of his debt now he's clearly out of his debt.
- 33:12[SPEAKER_01]: He's clearly he can't handle he can't handle his offensive staff and that's what I think I just think he's losing the team.
- 33:20[SPEAKER_04]: I just don't I think I just play it on that plane and they just have no respect for him and I I look at some of the
- 33:26[SPEAKER_04]: I enjoy watching teams in the locker room post.
- 33:29[SPEAKER_04]: He just says the same shit over and over again.
- 33:33[SPEAKER_04]: Like he, like he, like he's the smartest guy.
- 33:35[SPEAKER_04]: It's a bit of a cliche.
- 33:37[SPEAKER_04]: But he just says the same words over it.
- 33:39[SPEAKER_04]: Like he looked at Dan Campbell or something like that on Matt LaFlur or look very in the lockerer afterwards.
- 33:46[SPEAKER_04]: And then just not pontificating the same way that he does.
- 33:48[SPEAKER_04]: I just don't think it connects.
- 33:51[SPEAKER_04]: I just don't think it lands and I really wanted it to land
- 33:56[SPEAKER_04]: And I look at some of those players, they're not responding to him or I go back to what we said all off season, being tough, being this, changing culture, changing that, yaddy, yaddy, yaddy, yaddy, yaddy, yaddy, yaddy, yaddy, yaddy, yaddy, yaddy, yaddy, yaddy, yaddy, yaddy, yaddy, yaddy, yaddy, yaddy, yaddy, yaddy, yaddy, yaddy, yaddy, yaddy, yaddy, yaddy, yaddy, yaddy, yaddy, yaddy, yaddy, yaddy, yaddy, yaddy, yaddy, yaddy, yaddy, yaddy, yaddy, yaddy, yaddy, yaddy, yaddy, yaddy, yad
- 34:16[SPEAKER_04]: but I think he's there to be criticised heavily and all the stuff that they've talked about trying to do has just didn't materialise.
- 34:26[SPEAKER_04]: They got punched in the face on both sides of the little devoted past rush.
- 34:30[SPEAKER_04]: I could have said back and made some of the throws Daniel Jones made.
- 34:33[SPEAKER_04]: The lineback is I give Jordan Brooks plays with a lot of hard, with a lot of toughness.
- 34:39[SPEAKER_04]: He's a guy that you know that every clip where it's half time and the hurricanes He's like you know, I believe I'm hurt dog.
- 34:45[SPEAKER_04]: I'm bleed that that's Jordan Brooks He's that kind of guy Dodson was awful like awful he missed tackles.
- 34:53[SPEAKER_04]: He missed open field tackles.
- 34:54[SPEAKER_04]: He missed run lanes The and the secretary mink had in a little very good.
- 34:59[SPEAKER_04]: I've got to say like mella fun We're I don't know what he was doing on the on the touchdown
- 35:03[SPEAKER_03]: And another one of those that can't play the zone the way.
- 35:06[SPEAKER_04]: You can't play the zone.
- 35:07[SPEAKER_04]: You can't play the zone.
- 35:08[SPEAKER_04]: You can't play it.
- 35:10[SPEAKER_04]: Like, mean could just like, not reading what was happening.
- 35:13[SPEAKER_04]: Guys, like, allowing free runs down the field.
- 35:17[SPEAKER_04]: I tried to warrant was open.
- 35:18[SPEAKER_04]: And it didn't help the cause.
- 35:21[SPEAKER_04]: Kenneth Grant's tape is okay.
- 35:22[SPEAKER_04]: It's fine.
- 35:24[SPEAKER_04]: but it doesn't help the optics of the situation don't help when Tyler Warren is catching seven for 76 or whatever he was and making big catches.
- 35:32[SPEAKER_04]: That's not an indictment on Kenneth Grant or anything.
- 35:35[SPEAKER_01]: And it got three for like 38 on the first driver the game.
- 35:38[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, but it just doesn't, you know, if the dolphins win that game's 338, nobody gives a fuck how many, you know, if Tyler Warren has 300 catchers in 330, nobody cares, but optically it just looks bad because
- 35:50[SPEAKER_04]: You know, he's out there making catches, he's making plays, they're talking about on the broadcast, and you don't see the effect of an interior defensive line and really, unless he's, you know, hour and a dog, you know, nobody really talks about, you know, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers lads doing there for yards per carry, equivalent, and not talking about the impact beta they had, you know, on the game, and that's just the position he plays.
- 36:10[SPEAKER_04]: So Kenneth Grant will always lose out to a school position player, but it just didn't help that Warren was doing what he was doing yesterday.
- 36:18[SPEAKER_04]: Let's touch another player.
- 36:20[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, they were so unprepared.
- 36:22[SPEAKER_04]: God.
- 36:22[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know you guys.
- 36:24[SPEAKER_01]: And I know you guys saw the, the all 22.
- 36:26[SPEAKER_01]: It's actually the guy's money.
- 36:28[SPEAKER_01]: And look, it's not, you know, shit talking, Zack Sealer is probably the dumbest thing you probably can do on a podcast.
- 36:36[SPEAKER_01]: I think he might have played his worst game of this season.
- 36:38[SPEAKER_01]: Or I mean, it's career.
- 36:41[SPEAKER_01]: He was blocked one on one the entire day.
- 36:44[SPEAKER_01]: Even Mike McDaniel called them out today in his press.
- 36:47[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if you guys saw it that he banned in the past rush lane and allowed to throw That went for an explosive that if had he just stayed in his lane He's there and Danny Jones probably moves off of them and Danny Jones is the guy if if you're moving him off of his initial reads and you can under some type of pressure
- 37:07[SPEAKER_01]: You might have a successful down against them.
- 37:09[SPEAKER_01]: That's usually how everybody does it.
- 37:11[SPEAKER_01]: So I thought there were best players where they're worse players on this day.
- 37:18[SPEAKER_01]: And what does it say when Mike McDaniel gets up there the day after?
- 37:23[SPEAKER_01]: And this is like as bad as he's gonna rip the team because it's just not gonna go out there and say that they suck.
- 37:30[SPEAKER_01]: but he says that they that what pissed him off was that they worked on things for for months and they saw none of it on Sunday.
- 37:38[SPEAKER_01]: Look, I saw them in training camp for look, these guys were together for 41 days, 28 practices, 22 of them padded.
- 37:48[SPEAKER_01]: God knows how many other sessions were inside that the media didn't see.
- 37:52[SPEAKER_01]: And a lot of the concepts I saw in training camp
- 38:00[SPEAKER_01]: They just didn't show up, they just didn't call them, they didn't run them, like, where was the sale routes that they completed against against the Jaguars and the joint practice?
- 38:10[SPEAKER_01]: Where were the all those sale combinations that they kept running with Nick Westbrook Akine and with Jane and Waddle, especially with Jane and Waddle, like, where were all these things?
- 38:20[SPEAKER_01]: Like, this team spent all of these months, weeks, together,
- 38:26[SPEAKER_01]: to prepare to put out a product.
- 38:28[SPEAKER_01]: And then they just said, you know what, just go, just put that rerun from like week 11 last year.
- 38:35[SPEAKER_01]: And just just put that on and that'll be good enough.
- 38:39[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know where you go from there, but like what did you make of Mike McDaniel's comments because he's elevating the talk because I think he knows that.
- 38:49[SPEAKER_01]: He's doomed.
- 38:51[SPEAKER_01]: So, what did you make of his comments?
- 38:54[SPEAKER_01]: Post game and today, where he's actually naming players by name.
- 38:59[SPEAKER_03]: I think, so much was made about the players being all cumbaia before the season, right?
- 39:06[SPEAKER_03]: The locker room is really together.
- 39:08[SPEAKER_03]: We're all hanging out together.
- 39:09[SPEAKER_03]: We're all, you know.
- 39:11[SPEAKER_03]: The question I had was how much of that, you know, sentiment interlocks between the players and the coaches.
- 39:19[SPEAKER_03]: Because that's going to matter.
- 39:21[SPEAKER_03]: When you start losing, you're going to have players saying it's the scheme and you're going to have coaches saying it's the execution.
- 39:28[SPEAKER_03]: That's the way that it goes.
- 39:30[SPEAKER_03]: And already after this game, what do we have?
- 39:33[SPEAKER_03]: We have the coaches or specifically Mike McDaniel getting up in front of everybody.
- 39:37[SPEAKER_03]: and saying execution execution execution, the players are not playing the scheme as we taught them, and as they have shown that they had already grasped it at various points, they didn't go out there and actually play it that way.
- 39:52[SPEAKER_03]: Um, I thought that Zack Seeler first off when I did the all 22 of the defense and I was, you know, a specifically did that with a spotlight because I felt like the defense was the worst part of the day for Miami.
- 40:06[SPEAKER_03]: They were that was that was in some ways, you know, similar to the to the 70 point outing that the Denver Broncos gave up to us.
- 40:16[SPEAKER_03]: a couple of years ago, and I realized that 33 points is not 70 points, but you also have to understand that was 70, that was seven drives, you know, that was 33 points, I'm only seven drives, and that was 39, 40 minutes of time of possession on only seven drives.
- 40:34[SPEAKER_03]: So, point scoring is not the only object of an offense when you take the NFL field.
- 40:42[SPEAKER_03]: You're trying to control the ball,
- 40:45[SPEAKER_03]: So if the, if the cults had wanted to score more, if felt like they could have, because they essentially did whatever they wanted to do, except for when they got tight to the red zone and to the end zone, and some of those occasion at the settle for the field goal.
- 41:00[SPEAKER_03]: That was some of the only times that they didn't get to do whatever they wanted to do.
- 41:06[SPEAKER_03]: But I think the defense, you know, is actually, there wasn't that bad to me on the alt 22.
- 41:11[SPEAKER_03]: And I thought Mike McDaniel held him up really as a, you know, hey, this is our captain, this is our, you know, the guy with the fresh contract.
- 41:20[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going to make a little bit of an example and I'm not going to say it's unfair because I think is that sealer would you get paid like that.
- 41:27[SPEAKER_03]: you serve whatever function they need out of you.
- 41:29[SPEAKER_03]: If you need to be made an example of, then you get made an example of.
- 41:33[SPEAKER_03]: That's the way it goes.
- 41:35[SPEAKER_03]: I thought he was doing that for a message to tell the rest of the guys, hey, we'll even go after Zach Sealer.
- 41:43[SPEAKER_03]: But Mike McDaniel is not a head coach.
- 41:47[SPEAKER_03]: And this is the problem.
- 41:49[SPEAKER_03]: He calls the run game like a brilliant run coordinator, I think.
- 41:55[SPEAKER_03]: He calls the passing game like a brilliant run coordinator and he calls the defense like a brilliant run coordinator and and which is to say not in all he has nothing to do with the defense so it's very hard for.
- 42:10[SPEAKER_03]: him to circle back around and speak authoritatively from a leadership standpoint and say, you know, hey, Zach Sealer, you really need to stay in your rush lanes or, you know, talk about all these players and needing to be on mind their peace and cues in the coverage scheme.
- 42:28[SPEAKER_03]: things like that.
- 42:29[SPEAKER_03]: He is a very hands-off on that defense to begin with, and so he has no credibility when he has to try to circle back around and do that.
- 42:37[SPEAKER_03]: And this is one of the pitfalls to me of keeping the play calling in his pocket as an offense, as a defacto offensive coordinator.
- 42:47[SPEAKER_03]: At the end of the day, you have to wonder do we actually have a head coach or do we have a guy who is a brilliant run coordinator who again has a passing game that looks a bit at times simple like it was, you know, like it was created by a brilliant run coordinator and at times also, you know, there's things going on in the defense that he just has no authority over no handle over no levers to pull.
- 43:15[SPEAKER_03]: because that's not his area.
- 43:18[SPEAKER_03]: And nobody wants a head coach that's like that has large portions of the football field or football team that are just not his area.
- 43:29[SPEAKER_03]: And that's the feeling that I get with Mike Daniel.
- 43:31[SPEAKER_03]: And unfortunately, it's unfortunate that this hasn't changed in four years.
- 43:36[SPEAKER_03]: because he could have grown into it.
- 43:38[SPEAKER_03]: He could have grown into more and I'm not getting that sense.
- 43:41[SPEAKER_03]: I'm not getting that sense from him.
- 43:43[SPEAKER_03]: So what you ended up with is the product that we saw on, you know, on Sunday, which is that the offense was bad.
- 43:53[SPEAKER_03]: They looked out of sync.
- 43:55[SPEAKER_03]: I think in
- 44:03[SPEAKER_03]: They had to keep banging their head against the wall until they could finally score against guys.
- 44:09[SPEAKER_03]: They frankly didn't make the Jaguar's 53-man roster, and then on defense, they look the same.
- 44:17[SPEAKER_03]: And so this team, you go all this way and your whole team is that unprepared.
- 44:24[SPEAKER_03]: How can that not be a damning reflection on the coach, on the head coach?
- 44:32[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 44:33[SPEAKER_01]: Simon, dare I say we're getting a bit of, and I hate to mention this name, but it's, it's kind of appropriate, isn't it?
- 44:43[SPEAKER_01]: Like where we're, we re-lived the whole Adam gay sixth experience all over again.
- 44:49[SPEAKER_01]: A guy who just fades out, starts off.
- 44:54[SPEAKER_01]: Starts off starts off like like well, I'm not came Cameron was just terrible and he was gone in a year But Adam Gays had a lot of success early and Remember they made the playoffs.
- 45:05[SPEAKER_01]: They went 11 games.
- 45:06[SPEAKER_01]: They look good doing it.
- 45:08[SPEAKER_01]: They had a good running game They found Jay a guy ran in Tanya.
- 45:11[SPEAKER_01]: He had his best season ever until he tore his ACL
- 45:14[SPEAKER_01]: They even got Matt Moore to play well, room Matt Moore scored a pile of points in Buffalo and a pile of points in New York to get them into the playoffs.
- 45:24[SPEAKER_01]: So they even managed to make a back of quarterback work and then Adam Gaze just slowly faded in the next two years.
- 45:33[SPEAKER_01]: Same thing with Mike McDaniel, we had the excitement of 22, the excitement of 23.
- 45:39[SPEAKER_01]: the step back in 24 and now it's just like, you know, it's, you could tell.
- 45:43[SPEAKER_01]: It's like the end of the year for the end of the year.
- 45:47[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, and Chris made the point.
- 45:48[SPEAKER_04]: I think it was perfect that, you know, we started off with, you know, check your pulse.
- 45:52[SPEAKER_04]: If you're not fired up, then, you know, what's wrong with you to what he said on Thursday or Friday when he said something about,
- 45:59[SPEAKER_04]: death or we're on the way in the process or whatever another another day closer to death.
- 46:03[SPEAKER_01]: That's the open training camp.
- 46:06[SPEAKER_01]: I was there.
- 46:06[SPEAKER_01]: It was the first it was the first press conference of training camp and the question came from from how heavy he asked.
- 46:16[SPEAKER_01]: He just told them good morning and then he goes, no, great morning.
- 46:21[SPEAKER_01]: And then how asked them why is it a great morning and it goes because we're one day closer to death and I just started laughing because I'm like that's like that's my that's the type of thing I would say as a joke, but when a head coach says it it's you know it's kind of is well the it is now the official motto of the 2025 season yeah one day closer to death every week that we play were one week closer to death.
- 46:46[SPEAKER_04]: go on week closer to a new head coach and a new general manager and a new quarterback.
- 46:51[SPEAKER_04]: I think that's the takeaway and people may be watching this going.
- 46:55[SPEAKER_04]: You're overreacting it's one week and there is the possibility that could happen.
- 46:59[SPEAKER_04]: But I think when you sit and go through the old 22 as the three of us have done on top of watching what happened yesterday and you listen to the noises.
- 47:07[SPEAKER_04]: It is not a one week thing.
- 47:10[SPEAKER_04]: It is a malaise that we have seen coming for a long time.
- 47:14[SPEAKER_04]: And you go back to your point about Adam Gaze.
- 47:16[SPEAKER_04]: I wrote a piece about Gaze when he was at his kind of high point for the magazine over here.
- 47:21[SPEAKER_04]: And I can remember somebody saying to me, and I put it in the magazine that I've said it on this podcast before, that Stephen Ross had said to the person that told me this that he believed he had found his Don Shula.
- 47:31[SPEAKER_04]: and we know how that turned out.
- 47:32[SPEAKER_04]: And I think it was probably a time and I go back to the two high moments of the nightmare Daniel era, which were the 70 to 20 win over the Broncos.
- 47:41[SPEAKER_04]: That was essentially the highest point of this rebuild.
- 47:45[SPEAKER_04]: And the trencher field touched down against the 49ers that
- 47:52[SPEAKER_04]: In that moment, gave us the best record in the NFL and with the number one seed in the AFC when he scored on that 70 yard touchdown on one of the first plays or maybe even the first play of the game.
- 48:02[SPEAKER_04]: That was the first play of the game.
- 48:04[SPEAKER_04]: That was the mountain top for this rebuild and from that point onwards, we've never had a high as high as that and it has never been the same as that and from that point on, the rest of the game
- 48:20[SPEAKER_04]: False pretty much in terms of how it turned out.
- 48:23[SPEAKER_01]: I got a better one.
- 48:24[SPEAKER_01]: Like like the mount top was actually the cowboy's game If you think about it once Jason Sanders kicks that field goal.
- 48:30[SPEAKER_01]: They clenched the playoff spot and then they are two wins away from the one seed if they could secure the two wins
- 48:37[SPEAKER_01]: They didn't secure the lost both games.
- 48:39[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I think the low point, apart from yesterday, was that Tennessee disaster, actually.
- 48:46[SPEAKER_04]: But I think the mount in top was either the 70-20 or the all-the-trench airfield.
- 48:51[SPEAKER_04]: We are now eight and three, the number one seed in the air, see, and the best team in the NFL in terms of the record.
- 48:56[SPEAKER_04]: I would just go to,
- 48:59[SPEAKER_04]: Santa Clara and we've just scored at the first play of the game against another massive team look how good we are, and then bush that that buys it.
- 49:07[SPEAKER_04]: That was the map.
- 49:08[SPEAKER_03]: But I mean speaking speaking of of him as a you know as I was talking about an incomplete head coach If you look at the fact that the defense has devolved to being completely mismatched with the scheme You know
- 49:24[SPEAKER_03]: What, where's your head coach in advocating, in advocating for your defense or coordinator from a personnel standpoint, you know?
- 49:33[SPEAKER_03]: Where's the strong voice that says, you know, the hell you're going to defy me, Christopher, and Chris Greer.
- 49:41[SPEAKER_03]: We need players that fit the scheme, and that's the way it's going to be.
- 49:46[SPEAKER_03]: You know, I think Vic Fangio tried to do that.
- 49:49[SPEAKER_03]: in 2023.
- 49:50[SPEAKER_03]: I think that he tried to speak and advocate for what they were intending to play, and say, I don't like the culture of the players that you, you know, people say the culture is is all the head coach, but I think that culture starts often that who you let in the door and who you don't let it, you know, um, they don't, don't let it be lost.
- 50:13[SPEAKER_01]: Don't let it be lost at the two players that caused the biggest stink over Vick Fanger war, essentially Javon Holland and Jaila Ramsey, and both were gone a year later.
- 50:23[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and I think that Vick Fanger was not impressed with the the work culture.
- 50:30[SPEAKER_03]: He made that clear through Ron Jorsky, who's a friend of his.
- 50:35[SPEAKER_03]: And he probably, and I think he was not impressed with the schematic fit of the players that Chris Greer was getting for him.
- 50:42[SPEAKER_03]: And he tried to advocate, but he also, you know, unsuccessfully.
- 50:48[SPEAKER_03]: And so he threw little barbs out there in his press conferences and his statements.
- 50:53[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, we all heard them.
- 50:55[SPEAKER_03]: And then at the end of the day, he left.
- 50:57[SPEAKER_03]: And so, you know, if you're the head coach of the offense,
- 51:04[SPEAKER_03]: You know, don't concern yourself that much with the defense.
- 51:07[SPEAKER_03]: Who's the one that's in Chris Greer's office that's saying, no, this is what we need on defense.
- 51:14[SPEAKER_03]: And I'm not, and I'm not settling.
- 51:17[SPEAKER_03]: You know, I'm not compromising here.
- 51:20[SPEAKER_03]: This is what we need.
- 51:21[SPEAKER_03]: I think Mike McDaniel does that on offense.
- 51:24[SPEAKER_03]: You know, I get the feeling that he does.
- 51:27[SPEAKER_03]: But I don't think he's as strong and advocate on defense because he just
- 51:32[SPEAKER_03]: He just can't be.
- 51:33[SPEAKER_03]: He's not, he's not on that side of the ball.
- 51:36[SPEAKER_01]: And a lot of it.
- 51:37[SPEAKER_01]: And a lot of it has to do you end up with.
- 51:39[SPEAKER_01]: And a lot of it has to do with like Greer or whatever his philosophies are as far as free agency.
- 51:45[SPEAKER_01]: I was curious.
- 51:46[SPEAKER_01]: So I looked it up.
- 51:47[SPEAKER_01]: You know when the first mention of Russell Douglas being a target for the Miami Dolphins were first shows up in the media.
- 51:55[SPEAKER_01]: April 6th, he was signed August 26th,
- 52:01[SPEAKER_01]: This is a guy you identified can play and whatever scheme you wanted to play in, maybe who knows that maybe Anthony we were said, you know what?
- 52:09[SPEAKER_01]: I maybe Russell Douglas is a guy that can play here.
- 52:13[SPEAKER_01]: It takes you a few months to bring him in.
- 52:15[SPEAKER_03]: But he was rough out there on the all 22.
- 52:17[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, the all 22 was not necessarily kind to him.
- 52:21[SPEAKER_03]: And that's not, and I'm not even trying to blame him for that because he just got here.
- 52:26[SPEAKER_03]: You know, and that that's the point you think that this is, you know, oh, well, we got, we got the guy who cares about when we, and mattered, you know, and, and this is this is the story of this team from a jamming standpoint is these things don't matter injury histories don't matter risk doesn't matter.
- 52:47[SPEAKER_03]: Um, when the guy gets here doesn't matter.
- 52:49[SPEAKER_03]: We, you know, we signed some guys off the street.
- 52:51[SPEAKER_03]: We're cool.
- 52:51[SPEAKER_03]: We're good.
- 52:52[SPEAKER_03]: We're golden.
- 52:52[SPEAKER_03]: We got Jack Jones.
- 52:53[SPEAKER_03]: Jack Jones is a good player.
- 52:54[SPEAKER_03]: We got we got Russell Douglas.
- 52:56[SPEAKER_03]: Russell Douglas is a good player.
- 52:57[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, yeah, maybe you take a little bit of time.
- 52:59[SPEAKER_03]: Look ours.
- 52:59[SPEAKER_03]: You know, these things matter.
- 53:01[SPEAKER_03]: These things absolutely matter.
- 53:04[SPEAKER_03]: So, you know, we've got an incomplete general manager.
- 53:07[SPEAKER_03]: We've got an incomplete head coach.
- 53:08[SPEAKER_03]: And when things break a certain way.
- 53:13[SPEAKER_03]: And a certain year, this is what you get out of that, and unfortunately, it's going to be a very long season, I think.
- 53:20[SPEAKER_04]: We're going to trade the eels of traded for tank big speed.
- 53:26[SPEAKER_01]: I think I think at this point, how he rose with just like making trades.
- 53:30[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he loves the board.
- 53:32[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I don't think he's board, I think he's just constantly working together.
- 53:37[SPEAKER_03]: They need it.
- 53:39[SPEAKER_04]: Absolutely.
- 53:41[SPEAKER_01]: All right, let's, let's at least do 30 seconds on this because that game was just insane last night.
- 53:47[SPEAKER_01]: I went from thinking, my god, the bulls are trash to holy shit.
- 53:52[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, they might be the team of destiny all of a sudden because the ravens are just imploding.
- 53:59[SPEAKER_01]: By the way, fourth time, and that came on the scroll a little earlier on the SPN, and I was actually shocked
- 54:09[SPEAKER_01]: It's the fourth time in the history of the NFL that a team has blown a 15-point lead with four minutes left fourth time Dolphins were one of them.
- 54:20[SPEAKER_01]: They blew in a 15-point shot.
- 54:23[SPEAKER_01]: Denver Broncos just going to say to the Denver Broncos in 2011.
- 54:27[SPEAKER_01]: Let's just do 30 seconds before we say goodbye until Thursday when we're gonna preview Patriots dolphins give me give me a good 30 second Simon on that game last night
- 54:39[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, one of the best games of the modern era, in my opinion, an absolute barn burner, and for the Baltimore, to have a 99.3% chance of winning with four and a half minutes to go and then up losing was astonishing.
- 54:50[SPEAKER_04]: Actually, it came down to the kicker really when you look at it title loop hitting the upright with the point after.
- 54:57[SPEAKER_04]: which would have, the feel gone at the end would have tied it rather than it said it's over time rather than being a game winner.
- 55:02[SPEAKER_04]: But I don't believe we're going to incredible teams moving up another field, big plays, tip passes, you know, two point shenanigans, long runs, James Cook ripping off the big run, Josh being unbelievable, the Mars play where he backs up on like 80 yards back down the field and then picks up the third down, just like
- 55:25[SPEAKER_04]: It'll ever be an incredible, like nobody can stop on defense.
- 55:28[SPEAKER_04]: John Harbour has got to be shooting himself because, you know, I think they kind of I think they blew it at the end.
- 55:34[SPEAKER_04]: Henry has the unbelievable game and then fun balls.
- 55:36[SPEAKER_04]: It's like, you know, and then, and then, and then, and then, our guy, the tight end from Georgia Tech, making the massive catch.
- 55:44[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, it's an awesome, awesome haul.
- 55:46[SPEAKER_04]: It's like unbelievable seeds.
- 55:48[SPEAKER_04]: So, yeah, I mean, they're going to absolutely smoke the shit out of us a week, three as well, but yeah, that was a great game.
- 55:53[SPEAKER_04]: That was a fun game.
- 55:54[SPEAKER_01]: On a short week of all things, Chris, you got something to talk about.
- 55:58[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, just two things, just two things.
- 56:00[SPEAKER_03]: One, you know, that kind of starts to cement Josh Allen's places, QB one, and probably all of the NFL right now.
- 56:09[SPEAKER_03]: And two, there was a 99.3% chance with four minutes remaining.
- 56:15[SPEAKER_03]: that despite everything Miami was going to be tied for first place in the AFC East.
- 56:22[SPEAKER_03]: And we obviously cannot have nice things.
- 56:25[SPEAKER_03]: We still blew that.
- 56:28[SPEAKER_01]: We still managed to blow that and we were probably on a plane somewhere over the Midwest at the point.
- 56:34[SPEAKER_01]: So, all right, that's enough of this game.
- 56:39[SPEAKER_01]: We move on.
- 56:40[SPEAKER_01]: to the Patriots, and the seasons on the line.
- 56:42[SPEAKER_01]: And we'll talk about it on Thursday.
- 56:44[SPEAKER_01]: But, tell them.
