- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listening to Bill Handle on demand from KFI AM
- 0:04Speaker 1: six forty.
- 0:06Speaker 2: KFI AM six forty Handle here Morning Crew, Thursday, June fourth.
- 0:13Speaker 2: There is something called the War Powers Act, and it
- 0:17Speaker 2: was passed in the seventies nineteen seventy three War Powers
- 0:21Speaker 2: Resolution passed nineteen seventy three.
- 0:26Speaker 3: And what it does.
- 0:27Speaker 2: It requires presidents to remove US forces from any conflict
- 0:32Speaker 2: that Congress has not authorized within sixty days. So president
- 0:36Speaker 2: can go ahead and wage war, but has to bail
- 0:41Speaker 2: out within sixty days if Congress has not authorized him
- 0:45Speaker 2: in this case to continue on. Now, Trump head that
- 0:49Speaker 2: deadline may first. And here is the fun part about this.
- 0:55Speaker 2: The administration Donald Trump is arguing that hostilities have been
- 0:59Speaker 2: terminated because the ceasefire took effect and therefore there is
- 1:05Speaker 2: no war. Now hostilities have been terminated. I find that
- 1:10Speaker 2: rather interesting when you have Iran launching missiles against American
- 1:16Speaker 2: forces bases, and launching missiles against allies Oman, Saudi Arabia
- 1:23Speaker 2: and the United States launching missiles or attacking Iranian forces,
- 1:29Speaker 2: attacking Iranian centers of command and control, and attacking ships
- 1:36Speaker 2: that are bound for Iranian ports. But I guess hostilities
- 1:40Speaker 2: have been terminated. Well, I mean, that's how crazy all
- 1:43Speaker 2: of this is. And one interesting quote when asked the
- 1:47Speaker 2: president asked, when is this war over? And he said,
- 1:52Speaker 2: and I'm going to quote it's over when I say
- 1:54Speaker 2: it's over, and right now it's not over. No, Actually
- 2:00Speaker 2: it is over because hostilities have ceased and we're in
- 2:03Speaker 2: a cease fire.
- 2:05Speaker 3: So up to this point, whenever.
- 2:07Speaker 2: The War Powers Resolution has tried in Congress to come
- 2:13Speaker 2: into effect, and there are plenty of Republicans, matter of fact,
- 2:17Speaker 2: virtually all of them that are backing up the president.
- 2:20Speaker 2: No matter what you typical and this is not atypical.
- 2:25Speaker 2: If the President decides this is the way to go,
- 2:27Speaker 2: we have to back the president because he knows, he
- 2:30Speaker 2: knows much more than we know. And there has to
- 2:33Speaker 2: be a reason. I've heard that before, and other than
- 2:37Speaker 2: just politics. The president is a Republican, we are Republicans.
- 2:42Speaker 2: Then we have to back them up. I don't know
- 2:44Speaker 2: what that dinging is about, by the way. In any case, finally,
- 2:50Speaker 2: four Republicans have jumped ship and voted in favor of
- 2:54Speaker 2: invoking the War Resolution Act AH, and the President is
- 2:59Speaker 2: not happy about that.
- 3:00Speaker 3: It means nothing. By the way, the only.
- 3:01Speaker 2: Way that even if Congress votes the Act in and
- 3:05Speaker 2: the President veto's that, which of course he will. The
- 3:08Speaker 2: only way to override a veto is two thirds of Congress.
- 3:13Speaker 2: Not going to happen, of course, not not when the
- 3:15Speaker 2: majority is by four senators, I think five or six
- 3:19Speaker 2: congress people.
- 3:19Speaker 3: So how do you get two thirds with that?
- 3:22Speaker 2: But it is sort of a harbinger of things to come.
- 3:26Speaker 2: Right now during primary season, the president has unbridled power
- 3:32Speaker 2: to primary someone out. Look what happened to Massey, Look
- 3:38Speaker 2: what happened to John Cornyn. It is he has the power.
- 3:43Speaker 2: He has the power to even go against and primary
- 3:47Speaker 2: out incumbents that have been there for decades. And of
- 3:51Speaker 2: course Republicans are scared to death. But now that the
- 3:53Speaker 2: primaries are over, close to over, the president's primary powers disappear.
- 4:00Speaker 2: They're gone at this point, they're over because they're no
- 4:05Speaker 2: more primaries, and he can endorse Republican candidates all day
- 4:10Speaker 2: long and it's going to affect nothing. Why is that,
- 4:13Speaker 2: Because the Republicans are going to vote Republicans Republican and
- 4:17Speaker 2: the Democrats are going to vote Democrat. And whatever the
- 4:20Speaker 2: President says, maybe he'll get more Republicans out there voting.
- 4:23Speaker 2: Maybe with an endorsement, maybe he'll get more Republicans out
- 4:28Speaker 2: there voting in just getting up more engaged and going
- 4:34Speaker 2: to the polls where normally they wouldn't. Okay, are the
- 4:37Speaker 2: numbers going to pan out? I don't think so, because
- 4:40Speaker 2: I think just as many Democrats are going to go
- 4:42Speaker 2: to the polls to vote against the president, because Republicans
- 4:47Speaker 2: are so tied into the president that it's a given.
- 4:53Speaker 2: You vote Republican, you're voting for the president. You vote Democrat,
- 4:58Speaker 2: you're voting for a candidate against the Democrats, or you're
- 5:03Speaker 2: voting for a candidate against the Republicans if you're voting Democrat.
- 5:08Speaker 2: And so this immense amount of power the president has
- 5:11Speaker 2: is going to disappear. Has disappeared very very quickly. And
- 5:17Speaker 2: so now what happens as the president It becomes less
- 5:21Speaker 2: and less popular. Look what's happening to the war. Look, Look,
- 5:25Speaker 2: look what's happening to inflation? Look what's happening to your
- 5:29Speaker 2: pocket book? The tariffs, you've got the cost of living,
- 5:35Speaker 2: the war, all of it come combining together to well
- 5:40Speaker 2: make it more difficult to live. Now. I heard a
- 5:43Speaker 2: Republican congressman being interviewed, he said, when this war is over,
- 5:47Speaker 2: prices are going to go down before the below pandemic prices. Okay, now,
- 5:53Speaker 2: how far is that going to go in terms of credibility.
- 5:57Speaker 2: So the President is turned out. He doesn't care, as
- 6:00Speaker 2: he said, I don't care about the midterms. It's the
- 6:04Speaker 2: Republican candidates who care about him. And as more and
- 6:09Speaker 2: more entrenched, these Republicans are entrenched in following Trump's lead
- 6:17Speaker 2: and telling the voters I believe in our president, I
- 6:19Speaker 2: believe in what he does. I am in favor. I
- 6:22Speaker 2: gotta tell you that's going to bite him in the ass.
- 6:26Speaker 2: So four Republicans have now switched sides and they are
- 6:30Speaker 2: in favor of instituting the War Powers resolution. Are there
- 6:36Speaker 2: going to be more? Well, I think you're going to
- 6:38Speaker 2: see a lot of Republicans jump ship. Why because the
- 6:41Speaker 2: endorsement of the president now means virtually nothing, and the
- 6:44Speaker 2: endorsement of the president may kill you, may kill a candidate.
- 6:49Speaker 2: We'll see what happens between now and the end of
- 6:53Speaker 2: the year during the general election. Okay, A story I
- 6:57Speaker 2: want to share with you, and this is about war
- 7:01Speaker 2: games and the warnings to the US on what's going
- 7:05Speaker 2: to happen to the Strait, on the Strait of horror moves. Now,
- 7:09Speaker 2: wargames are something that the military does constantly, and the
- 7:13Speaker 2: plans are for war against everyone, even Canada, even Mexico.
- 7:18Speaker 2: And not that, of course, anybody expects anything to happen
- 7:22Speaker 2: in that regard, but the war games are there, the
- 7:24Speaker 2: planning is there, Exercises are there now. Live fire exercises
- 7:30Speaker 2: happen in the Mid East and in Korea, North Korea, etc.
- 7:35Speaker 2: South Korea against North Korea. But here's what happened in
- 7:40Speaker 2: mid February, and this is a little problematic. Shortly before
- 7:43Speaker 2: the President launched this war in Iran, the Revolutionary Guards
- 7:49Speaker 2: Troop of Iran conducted live fire drills in its coastal waters.
- 7:56Speaker 2: Iranian state media publicized the exercise. As a matter of fact,
- 8:01Speaker 2: the official name which was publicized was Smart Control of
- 8:06Speaker 2: the Strait of Hormuz, and it is being argued that
- 8:12Speaker 2: this was a flashing red warning light to the Trump
- 8:16Speaker 2: administration and it basically went unheated.
- 8:20Speaker 3: No.
- 8:21Speaker 2: So within days of the start of the war, it
- 8:24Speaker 2: Ron's military exerted control over the strait and it menaced
- 8:29Speaker 2: all kinds of commercial well shut down the Strait, actually medicine,
- 8:32Speaker 2: commercial tankers with boats and missiles and drones shipping ground
- 8:36Speaker 2: to a halt, energy prices sword sword, And it looks
- 8:41Speaker 2: like the president, well it was. He was backed into
- 8:43Speaker 2: a corner strategically. So here we are on this war
- 8:46Speaker 2: was going to last two to four weeks. Remember that,
- 8:49Speaker 2: and day one we won the war. That's a quote
- 8:52Speaker 2: for the president.
- 8:52Speaker 3: Remember that. And the first week we.
- 8:55Speaker 2: Have obliterated their ability to create nuclear weapons, and they're
- 9:01Speaker 2: enrichment uranium and richmond program we took out there.
- 9:04Speaker 3: Maybe absolutely true.
- 9:06Speaker 2: And we took out their ability to mine because it
- 9:10Speaker 2: took out the ships that do the mining in the straits.
- 9:14Speaker 2: Absolutely not true. Maybe the ships were taken out, but
- 9:17Speaker 2: you have the smaller boats that can't be controlled in
- 9:21Speaker 2: there laying mines. See the story here is the administration
- 9:26Speaker 2: knew or should have known, or just ignored what was
- 9:33Speaker 2: going on. So here we are three months later. Iran's
- 9:39Speaker 2: control of the Strait has become, frankly, its most powerful weapon,
- 9:43Speaker 2: huge leverage. Iran has a negotiation over Trump and over
- 9:49Speaker 2: its nuclear program, which has not agreed, not agreed at
- 9:52Speaker 2: all to stop. Now here were the issues originally and
- 9:58Speaker 2: this is Marco Rubio, Secretary of State, said, and the
- 10:04Speaker 2: President said this also, here is what we are looking for.
- 10:07Speaker 2: Regime change. Well, we have regime change. That's what the
- 10:11Speaker 2: president said. Taking out the leadership means that the regime
- 10:16Speaker 2: is gone. Does anybody believe the regime is gone. It's
- 10:20Speaker 2: the same regime, it's just different people. That's like, if
- 10:25Speaker 2: God forbid, someone takes out the president, the vice president
- 10:30Speaker 2: and the speaker, our democracy is gone.
- 10:33Speaker 3: The regime is gone. No, it's not.
- 10:37Speaker 2: No, we have a succession, as does Iran. So the
- 10:45Speaker 2: president is man. He struggled to conceal how upset he is.
- 10:50Speaker 2: In a social media post in April, he demanded that
- 10:54Speaker 2: the crazy bastards leading Iran to open the strait or
- 10:58Speaker 2: you'll be living in hell if you don't open the streets.
- 11:02Speaker 2: Iran came back and simply mocked Trump and said, this
- 11:06Speaker 2: is a sign of the administration's helplessness.
- 11:11Speaker 3: That's what it is.
- 11:13Speaker 2: And the problem is all of these threats were you
- 11:16Speaker 2: have until today at six o'clock, You have until next week.
- 11:20Speaker 2: We will wipe you out, we will wipe out your civilization.
- 11:23Speaker 3: We're going to go to war. None of that has happened.
- 11:27Speaker 2: Now. I don't know how many people believe it, certainly his,
- 11:31Speaker 2: but his supporters believe it. If the president says this
- 11:35Speaker 2: is you know what this is. I'm going to analogize
- 11:38Speaker 2: this to remember. I think it was a comment to
- 11:40Speaker 2: Cahutec or whatever the hell comment was, and that organization
- 11:45Speaker 2: that was led by Doe if you remember that a
- 11:48Speaker 2: few years back, and he had it was a cult,
- 11:52Speaker 2: and he had his followers sell everything, everything away and
- 11:56Speaker 2: wait for the meteorite, the asteroid to get near us
- 12:02Speaker 2: and we would be wiped out, except they would. So
- 12:04Speaker 2: they were going to take a spaceship to the far side.
- 12:07Speaker 2: And he said, this is the date we're going to
- 12:09Speaker 2: do this. This is the date, and he gave a date.
- 12:13Speaker 1: Certain Heaven's Gate was the name of the cult, thank you,
- 12:16Speaker 1: and was the name of the comment.
- 12:18Speaker 2: Okay, thank you. The premise works. I just got the
- 12:22Speaker 2: names wrong. What a shocker. And how many of these
- 12:25Speaker 2: cult leaders which they don't do the smart ones don't
- 12:27Speaker 2: do this. The world will end January sixth, two thousand
- 12:32Speaker 2: and eight, well, January seventh, what do people do? And
- 12:41Speaker 2: so Trump made the mistake of saying tomorrow night six
- 12:46Speaker 2: o'clock next week, Monday. We're going to do this now.
- 12:51Speaker 2: It's just it's coming at some point. That's a little
- 12:55Speaker 2: bit more credible. It's a little smarter than coming up
- 12:59Speaker 2: with with date certains. I'm assuming someone in the administration said,
- 13:04Speaker 2: mister President, you can't putting you can't put these dates
- 13:06Speaker 2: on in times, and you can't do it over and
- 13:09Speaker 2: over again and those times passed. There's just no credibility there.
- 13:12Speaker 2: Here's what happens with the military. They plan on war games,
- 13:17Speaker 2: so they use wargames to plan and the attack on
- 13:21Speaker 2: Iran was one of.
- 13:23Speaker 3: The war games. No secret here.
- 13:26Speaker 2: Matter of fact, the military plans on war doesn't of
- 13:31Speaker 2: course think it's going to happen, but does military planning
- 13:35Speaker 2: with war or with everybody, Canada, Mexico, allies, just to
- 13:41Speaker 2: have in case something crazy happens, to have the have
- 13:46Speaker 2: the the process ready to go okay. And that happened
- 13:51Speaker 2: in Iran. Because Iran is actually an avowed enemy of
- 13:54Speaker 2: the United States.
- 13:55Speaker 3: So you would think that wargames would include Iran, and
- 13:57Speaker 3: they were, and they were, and for years.
- 14:01Speaker 2: The government has conducted war games dealing with potential conflicts
- 14:05Speaker 2: with Iran. Iran has been an enemy of Ars since
- 14:08Speaker 2: nineteen seventy nine when the revolution happened, and these war
- 14:14Speaker 2: games were attended and do and are intended at at
- 14:19Speaker 2: the Pentagon, dozens of military officials, dozens of policy makers,
- 14:26Speaker 2: and every single one talked about the straight of horror
- 14:32Speaker 2: moves being closed by Iran. That is the gridlock that
- 14:39Speaker 2: will be the flashpoint. Because Iran has the ability to
- 14:42Speaker 2: shut down the Strait. The fact that it hasn't and
- 14:46Speaker 2: has allowed it to be a free international waterway is well,
- 14:53Speaker 2: it didn't reach a point where it had to do that.
- 14:55Speaker 2: Now when it was attacked, it said, okay, we're going
- 14:57Speaker 2: to do that. National security official who was with the
- 15:01Speaker 2: Obama White House, Dennis Ross, said, every single time, the
- 15:05Speaker 2: first thing we focused on was the Strait without exception.
- 15:10Speaker 2: So the argument is that the president has been aware
- 15:13Speaker 2: of that. Risks is at least his first term as president.
- 15:16Speaker 2: John Bolton, who is this crazy pro war guy who
- 15:21Speaker 2: wrote a book and turned on the president. He was
- 15:24Speaker 2: a national security advisor during Trump's first term, and he
- 15:28Speaker 2: recalled trying to persuade the president to launch a war
- 15:32Speaker 2: against Iran a regime change. You got to do it,
- 15:34Speaker 2: mister president. You got to do it, mister President. He
- 15:36Speaker 2: didn't do it in his first term, but what he
- 15:39Speaker 2: said was central, always central to those discussions was the
- 15:43Speaker 2: Strait of Hormuz and Iranian's ability to close it down.
- 15:52Speaker 2: President Trump knew that Iran would try to stop the
- 15:55Speaker 2: freedom of navigation and free flow of energy and took
- 16:00Speaker 2: action to destroy mines and over forty mind laying vessels.
- 16:04Speaker 2: Probably is the mines are still there, and they're still
- 16:07Speaker 2: laying mines because the vessels, the war ships have been obliterated.
- 16:12Speaker 2: And he's right, the President's actly right. Took out the navy,
- 16:15Speaker 2: but these smaller boats, these fishing boats, have the ability
- 16:18Speaker 2: to lay mines. And that's exactly what's happening. So here's
- 16:22Speaker 2: what happened. The President underestimated Iran's ability to shut down
- 16:27Speaker 2: the strait, overestimated America's ability to reopen the strait if necessary.
- 16:35Speaker 2: And Marco Rubio, our Secretary of State, says, we control
- 16:40Speaker 2: the strait.
- 16:42Speaker 3: It's us.
- 16:44Speaker 2: And then the question is if it's us, why aren't
- 16:45Speaker 2: the straits open? How do you control the strait and
- 16:49Speaker 2: it isn't open. Doesn't Iran control the state the strait? Well,
- 16:54Speaker 2: it does. What we control is the ability of ships
- 16:57Speaker 2: that have gone through the strait that are going to
- 17:00Speaker 2: park in Iran and either get its oil or deliver
- 17:05Speaker 2: its soil.
- 17:06Speaker 3: That has stopped. So it's a double hit.
- 17:09Speaker 2: Both countries have the ability to shut it down and
- 17:12Speaker 2: half and nothing has changed.
- 17:16Speaker 3: So why would the president do that? Logically?
- 17:20Speaker 2: Okay, maybe he expected Iran's government to fall before it
- 17:24Speaker 2: could close the straight. Maybe because as he said day one,
- 17:30Speaker 2: we have won the war. We have obliterated their ability to,
- 17:37Speaker 2: for example, create nuclear weapons, and those nine hundred pounds
- 17:41Speaker 2: of enriched uranium we have destroyed, which is why we're
- 17:45Speaker 2: talking about it right now. How do you negotiate with
- 17:49Speaker 2: something that's been destroyed. I don't quite understand that either
- 17:54Speaker 2: has been destroyed or it has been destroyed. Okay, well
- 17:58Speaker 2: maybe it hasn't been destroyed. We're totiating that regime change
- 18:02Speaker 2: has happened. Okay, so they're talking to an entirely new regime.
- 18:09Speaker 2: It's not the same as it was before because we
- 18:12Speaker 2: killed this leaders. And I made the analogy before the break, if,
- 18:17Speaker 2: as I said, God Forbie, our president, our speaker, our
- 18:20Speaker 2: vice president somehow are able to be attacked and killed,
- 18:24Speaker 2: we no longer have a democracy.
- 18:26Speaker 3: The regime has changed. I don't know what we become.
- 18:30Speaker 2: And so Trump officials also believed that Iran could not
- 18:35Speaker 2: close the waterway without sacrificing its own oil exports. It
- 18:39Speaker 2: sure has would not commit economic suicide. Well, they're in
- 18:44Speaker 2: the middle of doing that. They don't care. This is
- 18:48Speaker 2: the regime that could take out tens of thousands of
- 18:51Speaker 2: its own citizens who are protesting with machine guns. They
- 18:55Speaker 2: don't care. The other possibility is that maybe US officials
- 19:02Speaker 2: believe if Iran did try to close the straight, American
- 19:06Speaker 2: allies would help US forces regain control. That didn't happen.
- 19:12Speaker 2: The president asked for The President demanded that our allies,
- 19:17Speaker 2: NATO countries help us to open the strait, and they
- 19:21Speaker 2: all said, go pound sand and then the President went
- 19:25Speaker 2: completely nuts. So what happened with Iran may have surprised
- 19:30Speaker 2: the US military. The Pentagon planning focused on the assumption
- 19:36Speaker 2: that Iran would mine the waterway, and it was a
- 19:39Speaker 2: question of mines, and if we get rid of the mines,
- 19:41Speaker 2: that would happen. What instead happened is the shore based
- 19:46Speaker 2: missiles that we had no idea they had that many,
- 19:49Speaker 2: and the drones we didn't know how many drones they had.
- 19:54Speaker 2: And again when we realized or when the information came
- 19:59Speaker 2: out about the drone and the missiles, the administration said,
- 20:02Speaker 2: we have taken out ninety percent of them or ninety
- 20:04Speaker 2: five percent, not even close, not even close. So here
- 20:11Speaker 2: we are with a war that has already been won,
- 20:16Speaker 2: with the Strait of Hormuz that is controlled by the
- 20:18Speaker 2: United States, with the obliteration of Iran's nuclear capabilities, with
- 20:26Speaker 2: the destruction of all the drones and all the missiles.
- 20:33Speaker 2: Why are we paying gas prices that are so high?
- 20:37Speaker 2: Why is it all shut down? I mean, we've won
- 20:40Speaker 2: the war. We won the war the first day. And
- 20:48Speaker 2: it reminds me of even in this case, the military
- 20:51Speaker 2: had worn the administration over and over and over again.
- 20:54Speaker 2: Look at the Strait of Hormuz. That is going to
- 20:56Speaker 2: be the flashpoint, that is going to be the big problem.
- 21:00Speaker 2: You remember when the argument the Russians had interfered with
- 21:04Speaker 2: the elections, and the enemies of Trump had said that,
- 21:09Speaker 2: and it turned out that, well, the President said, that's
- 21:12Speaker 2: not true. But even if it were true, it had
- 21:15Speaker 2: nothing to do with the election. There was no interference,
- 21:21Speaker 2: and every single every single agency, intelligence agency in the
- 21:26Speaker 2: United States said, yes, Russians are interfering, and the President said,
- 21:31Speaker 2: our intelligence agencies are lying. President Putin is telling the truth.
- 21:37Speaker 2: President Putin is a friend. I call him Vladimir. Well,
- 21:43Speaker 2: actually that was George Bush. I call him vlad It's
- 21:48Speaker 2: just not the case.
- 21:50Speaker 3: So is this non war going to happen?
- 21:52Speaker 2: And then the War Powers Act or the War Powers Resolution,
- 21:56Speaker 2: where the law says that within sixty days of a
- 22:01Speaker 2: war or conflict being started, the president has to go
- 22:05Speaker 2: to Congress. And I'm going to go back to the
- 22:07Speaker 2: argument that is now being forwarded to us by the
- 22:11Speaker 2: administration is we don't need the War Powers Resolution because
- 22:15Speaker 2: we're not at war. What we have here is a
- 22:18Speaker 2: cease fire, and therefore the resolution doesn't count. And even
- 22:24Speaker 2: if the cease fire involves both both parties attacking each other,
- 22:29Speaker 2: not a full scale conflict, I'll grant you that, but
- 22:32Speaker 2: both parties attacking each other, that's still a cease fire
- 22:38Speaker 2: because we're not at war. Man, what's up is down?
- 22:44Speaker 2: What's left is right? What's black as white as what's
- 22:49Speaker 2: up and down? What up is white? What is carry
- 22:55Speaker 2: the one? What's up means it's But I think you
- 23:00Speaker 2: get the point. Okay, a couple things about AI I
- 23:03Speaker 2: want to share with you. First of all, the move
- 23:06Speaker 2: towards AI, especially as this AI became prevalent, we know
- 23:11Speaker 2: what it would do and what can do, is unprecedented.
- 23:15Speaker 2: It's almost like the dot com boom, where it was
- 23:19Speaker 2: just everybody went balls to the wall. The difference with
- 23:22Speaker 2: AI the major companies are involved in a very big way.
- 23:26Speaker 2: And major companies Alphabet, Google, Parent, you've got Amazon also,
- 23:34Speaker 2: and the other major companies are putting.
- 23:37Speaker 3: In billions and billions.
- 23:40Speaker 2: Of dollars into these data centers. And there's all kinds
- 23:43Speaker 2: of controversy because there's a lot of nimbi going on,
- 23:46Speaker 2: not in my backyard. And you now see communities are
- 23:50Speaker 2: saying absolutely not even though jobs are going to be
- 23:53Speaker 2: brought to that community, but by the hundreds, not by
- 23:56Speaker 2: the thousands, not by the many thould And it's not
- 24:00Speaker 2: like a car company or a manufacturing company that you
- 24:04Speaker 2: need tons of people. With an AI center, you don't
- 24:08Speaker 2: need tons of people. And actually these are data centers.
- 24:13Speaker 2: The other thing about data centers is they suck up unbelievable.
- 24:19Speaker 3: Amounts of energy.
- 24:23Speaker 2: I'm talking about enough energy in one data center that
- 24:28Speaker 2: would power forty thousand homes. I mean, we're talking about
- 24:34Speaker 2: a lot of energy has to be given to them.
- 24:36Speaker 2: They don't produce their own energy, although now there is
- 24:40Speaker 2: a move among them to create their own energy. I
- 24:43Speaker 2: think it was was it Google that is buying a
- 24:48Speaker 2: nuclear reactor one of the towers at three Mile Island
- 24:53Speaker 2: there was one. There were three reactors there. One of
- 24:56Speaker 2: them is still able to function and it was not tojudged.
- 25:00Speaker 2: And that's being bought to restart to produce energy. I mean,
- 25:05Speaker 2: that's the kind of energy that it takes insane amounts
- 25:10Speaker 2: and insane amounts of water. It's almost beyond comprehension. But
- 25:16Speaker 2: the market, or the argument that the market is going
- 25:20Speaker 2: to be so big it's just going to happen, and
- 25:23Speaker 2: it is happening as we speak, and we're talking about
- 25:28Speaker 2: hundreds of billions of dollars that are.
- 25:31Speaker 3: Being brought in.
- 25:33Speaker 2: And the other problem is that states are desperate to
- 25:38Speaker 2: have these data centers in their own state because of
- 25:42Speaker 2: the taxes, because of well, I guess because of the jobs.
- 25:46Speaker 2: But the jobs aren't that much now. According to the
- 25:51Speaker 2: National Conference of State Legislators, thirty eight states offer dedicated
- 25:55Speaker 2: tax incentives for data centers, property tax debatements, exemption from
- 26:00Speaker 2: sales or use taxes. New York, Connecticut, and New Jersey
- 26:04Speaker 2: are among them big time. But what they didn't take
- 26:08Speaker 2: into account is that these local communities don't want these.
- 26:15Speaker 2: Remember the fight with Costco, and I think it was
- 26:19Speaker 2: LA and the neighborhood did not want a Costco there,
- 26:23Speaker 2: even though the number of jobs, a number of people
- 26:26Speaker 2: that work at Costco. Michelle Tim works at Costco. Typically
- 26:31Speaker 2: how many employees does a store have?
- 26:33Speaker 3: How many employees? Yeah, yeah, how many people work at
- 26:35Speaker 3: the store if you had.
- 26:36Speaker 1: To guess, I'm going to say, if I had to
- 26:37Speaker 1: guess at his store, probably four hundred.
- 26:41Speaker 2: That's one store. Yeah, that's one store. Because it is
- 26:46Speaker 2: labor intensive. And so the city of Los Angeles did
- 26:49Speaker 2: not want a Costco because the neighborhood said no when
- 26:54Speaker 2: they fought it. So you know what they did is
- 26:56Speaker 2: they went across the street to Englewood, maybe three blocks away.
- 27:02Speaker 3: Inglewood gets all the taxes, all of.
- 27:04Speaker 2: Them, and it is I don't know, in the millions
- 27:08Speaker 2: of dollars certainly that Inglewood is getting. And by the way,
- 27:12Speaker 2: the Costco is three miles away or a third of
- 27:16Speaker 2: a mile whatever it is, or two miles away from
- 27:19Speaker 2: where it was. So it's going to be the same,
- 27:22Speaker 2: quote damage, the traffic is going to be the same.
- 27:24Speaker 2: The only issue is we don't want a costco in
- 27:27Speaker 2: our neighborhood. Okay, well we'll put one in the neighborhood
- 27:29Speaker 2: five feet away and they'll get They're going to get
- 27:32Speaker 2: all the benefit, you know, in the INTERESTEAM bill.
- 27:35Speaker 1: With all this AI stuff and the fact that it
- 27:37Speaker 1: sucks up so many resources and people are fearful, I
- 27:42Speaker 1: actually think that because it's going to be so necessary,
- 27:45Speaker 1: like the Internet or anything else, it's going to solve
- 27:48Speaker 1: those problems. It's going to be the thing that helps
- 27:51Speaker 1: us into new alternative energies. It's going to be the
- 27:55Speaker 1: the tool that is used to figure out new cooling way.
- 27:59Speaker 3: It could be, you know, it could be.
- 28:02Speaker 2: It could be, although I don't quite understand how it
- 28:05Speaker 2: can create energy without having the facilities to create energy.
- 28:09Speaker 3: But you know, it could be because we don't know,
- 28:12Speaker 3: we don't know, and we don't know where.
- 28:14Speaker 2: AI is going to be fair we have no idea
- 28:17Speaker 2: where AI is going, and that certainly is a possibility.
- 28:21Speaker 2: Uh and uh, it could be that AI will figure
- 28:24Speaker 2: out how I can live and not be a dick.
- 28:27Speaker 2: But I don't think AI is going to go there.
- 28:30Speaker 2: I think that is that is an insurmountable issue for AI.
- 28:35Speaker 3: Did you see the smoke coming out of the machine
- 28:38Speaker 3: does not must explode, o exturminate.
- 28:48Speaker 2: Okay, coming up another episode in RFK Junior and Crazy
- 28:53Speaker 2: Uh that I can't wait to share with you. Oh God,
- 28:56Speaker 2: these gets so interesting. Some of them are just fun
- 28:59Speaker 2: and some of them are not. And this is a NOTT.
- 29:02Speaker 2: We'll be back with that KF. I am sixty.
