- 0:00Speaker 1: Uh yes, it's uh okay, it's time for it's time
- 0:04to talk to Jonathan Deezing, or JD as we call him.
- 0:08He's the host of the three Big Gamer Show. Are
- 0:10you there, JD?
- 0:12Speaker 2: Yes, sir?
- 0:14Speaker 1: Nice, Yeah, nice to hear your voice. Can you hear us? Okay? Yeah,
- 0:18well we've got that all settled. Nice talking to you.
- 0:22What's happening? Yes? What do we got?
- 0:27Speaker 2: Yeah? So a weird month because I have two games
- 0:31that I can't stop playing, of all things, on my phone.
- 0:35I usually don't play a lot of games on my phone.
- 0:38It's just I don't know. I have a small phone,
- 0:40so it's it's just not the best vehicle. But right
- 0:43now there are two games that I can't stop playing.
- 0:45The first one is Pokemon trading card game Pocket. If
- 0:50you if you remember the nineties, and you remember the
- 0:53Pokemon cards and how kids were you know, they were
- 0:56getting banned from having them at school, and.
- 0:58Speaker 3: Believe me, they are they are still a thing. Yeah,
- 1:01COmON cards.
- 1:02Speaker 2: I mean I exactly.
- 1:04Speaker 3: I have nieces who don't even play the game. They
- 1:07just want me to bring them Pokemon cards and then
- 1:10they put them in it in a loose leaf and
- 1:11keep them you.
- 1:12Speaker 2: Know, so this is the game for them, Terry. This
- 1:16is amazing because this is it's you know, because they
- 1:19cost like five six bucks a pack, right, you probably
- 1:21bought one more recently than me. So this game allows
- 1:25you to. It has a more stripped down version of
- 1:29the actual game itself. So normally the game you play
- 1:32with sixty cards in a deck and it's got all
- 1:34these complexities. This game reduces that down to a twenty
- 1:37card deck, and the game and the battles are a
- 1:40lot faster because you know, they can take ten fifteen
- 1:43minutes in person, you know, playing the real game, but
- 1:46this game you can get through a battle in like
- 1:48two to five minutes. So that part's really nice. But
- 1:51what's the cool part is the packs. You get two
- 1:54free packs every day to open. You get like every
- 1:58twelve hours essentially, and so and that's it. I mean
- 2:02there's no ads, there is, I mean, there's obviously ways
- 2:05to spend money, like micro transactions. I don't even felt
- 2:09like the pressure or need to because I mean, quite frankly,
- 2:12I mean I love Pokemon cards growing up as a kid,
- 2:15and if I were able to open to if you
- 2:18told me today, current present day, every morning and every
- 2:21evening you just hand me two Pokemon card packs. I
- 2:24would be over the moon.
- 2:25Speaker 1: And you get to open them.
- 2:27Speaker 2: Yep, I would get open them, and.
- 2:29Speaker 1: This might be a game. It does this cost? Does
- 2:32this cost something for you to put it on your phone?
- 2:36Speaker 2: Nope, it's free to play. It's on Android and iOS
- 2:39and you can jump in. You don't have the battle.
- 2:41I mean there's not even that much pressure to battle,
- 2:43and lots of people just just and and there's ways
- 2:46when you start playing, because all these mobile games work
- 2:49the same way. You open like twenty packs like because
- 2:52they're just throwing packs at you to try to get you,
- 2:55you know, on the drip.
- 2:56Speaker 3: I got nieces and god children who this is perfect
- 2:59for because great because they don't play the game.
- 3:01Speaker 1: They just like the game.
- 3:05Speaker 2: And when you get when you get the really cool
- 3:07cards they come with, like these awesome animations and stuff
- 3:10like when the card like is revealed from the past. Oh,
- 3:12it's just so cool. So Pokemon Trading Card Pocket. It's
- 3:15free to download on phone. I would just I would
- 3:18just this is a no brainer for me. If you
- 3:20like those games, I'd play it for like five minutes.
- 3:23Speaker 3: To day sometimes Dungeon coller.
- 3:28Speaker 2: Uh is my goodness, this game I cannot put down.
- 3:33Very basic. Uh. The idea here is that you are
- 3:36filling a claw machine, and this is you know, it's
- 3:38got the physics of the claw machine. Because you drop
- 3:42the claw, it grabs things and sometimes it drops them.
- 3:44Sometimes it grabs more things than you anticipate it.
- 3:47Speaker 3: But you're no, like, is this this trailer starts out
- 3:51with a tragedy. Ye, a rabbit getting his foot cut
- 3:57off and turned into a key chain.
- 4:00Speaker 1: Yes, right away, this is traumatic. It's like a little
- 4:04Pokemon looking rabbit.
- 4:05Speaker 3: Yeah, but still but he's got to go into the
- 4:07claw machine to get his foot back.
- 4:09Speaker 1: Yeah, you see.
- 4:11Speaker 2: Yeah, feeling for characters to have motive, that's what I find.
- 4:14Speaker 1: I suppose there's count clawula.
- 4:21Speaker 3: It's a claw machine.
- 4:22Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. So you fill the claw machine with uh
- 4:25you know, weapons, shields, trinkets or whatever. And then when
- 4:29you you drop the claw down. So say you have
- 4:31a bunch of knives in your claw machine, you drop
- 4:33the claw down, you pick up three knives. Will those
- 4:36go down and into the hopper, and then the enemies
- 4:38you're facing, those three knives worth of damage will apply
- 4:42to them. And so if you know, the enemy is
- 4:44going to be attacking you on the next turn, you
- 4:46might want to grab it, try to try to grab
- 4:48a shield. But the randomization of the actual like claw
- 4:53machine element of the game is what makes it just
- 4:55so addictive. And it's a it's a roguelike, so it
- 4:59gets rder as you play, and they're you know, you're
- 5:03not really committed. If you lose, if you got you
- 5:05just start over and you just see how far you
- 5:08can get.
- 5:09Speaker 1: Sounds pretty fun.
- 5:10Speaker 3: Actually, yeah, I'm just glad that the one, the main
- 5:12handed rabbit defeated.
- 5:15Speaker 1: So there's a lot in there.
- 5:17Speaker 3: Yeah, all right, Mario and Luigi Brothership.
- 5:21Speaker 2: Yes, so this is uh, this is the latest Mario
- 5:24in Luigi game. This is that series, and it is
- 5:29very basic. You're you're you know, it's it's what you'd
- 5:32expect from a Mario and Luigi game. You're exploring these
- 5:35different islands with your with your brother, and you're solving puzzles,
- 5:38you're fighting bad guys, doing a lot of jumping. If
- 5:44if you are waiting for a new Mario game, if
- 5:46you have a Nintendo Switch. The one thing that I
- 5:48will say that's kind of a knit against this is
- 5:50a single.
- 5:51Speaker 3: Player game I'm fine with.
- 5:54Speaker 2: Yeah, I thought this would be a co op game.
- 5:58I thought you'd be able to play this, like on
- 5:59the couch with your with your your brother or something.
- 6:03But that's kind of my only knock against it. But
- 6:06people seem to be liking this one, especially for like
- 6:09a new Mario game. It seems really solid and the
- 6:12art style is unique for Mario. It doesn't look like
- 6:15all the other Mario games, which is kind of nice. Yeah,
- 6:19all right, so internet snuff. Do we have time for this?
- 6:22Speaker 1: We do? This?
- 6:23Speaker 3: Is? This is this actually is a site.
- 6:25Speaker 1: I'm familiar with this one.
- 6:27Speaker 2: Oh, that's cool. So this is called Sounds of Disneyland.
- 6:30I haven't seen this before, Sounds of Disneyland dot com.
- 6:34And if you guys are big disney fans, Disneyland fans,
- 6:38I should say, if you're in the park a lot
- 6:40enough to recognize the sounds and songs that they play
- 6:43over the loudspeakers over and over again, this website lets
- 6:47you listen to those, which is the coolest thing because
- 6:51it goes by time period, so if you want to,
- 6:53you know, I feel like you're walking around Disneyland in
- 6:55the eighties. Oh, you can take that track, and you know,
- 7:00you'd be like, oh, yeah, when I was a kid
- 7:01at Disneyland, this is what it sounded like when I
- 7:03was walking down Main Street, USA or whatever.
- 7:05Speaker 3: Yeah, there's Main Street, USA nineteen seventy six in here.
- 7:08There's you know, the main gates from different years there.
- 7:12But but he's right because they programmed different music throughout
- 7:15the years. There's even a Club thirty three soundtrack in
- 7:19here too.
- 7:20Speaker 1: Oh yeah, it's strange.
- 7:22Speaker 2: And I wasn't. I'm not like, I think I've been
- 7:24to Disneyland maybe four or five times in my life,
- 7:27but when I put this on, I was like, oh, shoot,
- 7:30I'm in Disneyland, like you're transported.
- 7:32Speaker 3: Okay, Yeah, it really starts their storybook land, the sounds
- 7:36of the I'm.
- 7:37Speaker 1: Going to do it then, because I love the way
- 7:39those women that dress like Alice in Wonderland talk, you know,
- 7:45Gina for you. There's the Tiki Room in the Country
- 7:49Bear Jamboree.
- 7:50Speaker 3: The original Country Bear Jamboree is on there, so you
- 7:53can listen to them.
- 7:53Speaker 1: I will do it, yeah, and then finally land out. Finally,
- 7:58this is really interesting. This is really interesting.
- 8:02Speaker 2: Yeah, this last one here, Cloud Hiker, It's cloud hiker
- 8:06dot net and they've got twenty thousand just random old
- 8:11school websites and you can just browse them. You just
- 8:15go to cloudhiker dot net and it'll just take you
- 8:18to a random website. You know, they're not all winners
- 8:22and kind of weird. But every once in a while
- 8:26you run on a website and I was like, I
- 8:28was like, this feels like an a website that I
- 8:30might come across in like the nineties when I was
- 8:33a kid, just just clicking on links and browsing the Internet.
- 8:36Speaker 3: This is essentially like flipping flipping your TV channels, but
- 8:40with websites.
- 8:41Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, it's just websurfing.
- 8:44Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, but I mean I feel like we don't
- 8:47have that anymore. That used to be such a part
- 8:49of the Internet. Now your web surfing is essentially going
- 8:52on like Facebook and scrolling through abs until you find
- 8:55a link to click on. Yep, if you're lucky to go.
- 8:58But yeah, cloud hiker dot net for some old Internet experiences.
- 9:03Speaker 1: Do they curate them a little bit and make sure
- 9:05you don't land on anything that's you know, gonna gonna
- 9:08screw up or screw up your computer.
- 9:11Speaker 2: Or I don't think they're yes. To answer your question,
- 9:15I do think they do a pretty good job of curating.
- 9:18I do think some of these sites go down, and
- 9:21so there may be uh deactivated sites that you run across,
- 9:24or sites that.
- 9:24Speaker 1: Are okay, all right, Thank you, Jonathan Deezing. You can
- 9:28find all of these things that we talked about, games
- 9:31and websites and so forth at X ninety six dot com.
- 9:34Speaker 3: Yes, we got all those legs will be posted there,
- 9:37if not right now, a little bit later.
