- 0:00Speaker 1: Live from the WOR LifeVac Studios, Mark Simone.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Well, Rob Shooter, the great gossip, the great columnist, the
- 0:10Speaker 2: great writer. Now, you've got to check out his YouTube channel.
- 0:14Speaker 2: That's Rob Shooter YouTube. And, of course, his sub stack.
- 0:17Speaker 2: You should subscribe to it. It's Naughty But Nice, Rob
- 0:21Speaker 2: Shooter's sub stack. And then get his book. He's written
- 0:26Speaker 2: some great stuff. It started with a whisper, his novel.
- 0:29Speaker 2: There's a new novel coming, and he's with us now.
- 0:32Speaker 2: Rob Shooter, how you doing?
- 0:34Speaker 1: Hey, Mark. How are you, my friend?
- 0:36Speaker 3: It's been a busy, busy couple of days because the
- 0:39Speaker 3: Sussexes are back and pretending this time.
- 0:42Speaker 1: To be royals. Lots of drama over in the UK.
- 0:46Speaker 2: Now, the Sussexes sounds very impressive, but then you find
- 0:51Speaker 2: out it's this goofy Harry and Meghan thing. who don't
- 0:54Speaker 2: know what kind of work they're out of. Why did
- 0:56Speaker 2: they come back here? Are they actually making any money here?
- 1:00Speaker 1: Yeah, it's really curious. So they moved back to Britain
- 1:02Speaker 1: about six weeks ago.
- 1:03Speaker 3: It should be noted they have not met or spoken
- 1:07Speaker 3: with the king publicly. I'm told there's been a few
- 1:09Speaker 3: private conversations, but they've not spoken to William since 2022.
- 1:14Speaker 3: So four years ago. There's an ugly rift within this family.
- 1:18Speaker 1: And the queen.
- 1:20Speaker 3: The queen said when they left, when they decided to leave,
- 1:23Speaker 3: it was the queen who said to them, you can't
- 1:25Speaker 3: be half in, you can't be half out. You're either
- 1:27Speaker 3: royals and you do the work or you leave the family.
- 1:30Speaker 1: And they chose to leave the family. However, when they.
- 1:34Speaker 3: Were in California, the two of them realized that they
- 1:38Speaker 3: do not need the palace, the late queen, or anyone
- 1:43Speaker 3: else's permission to masquerade as royals.
- 1:46Speaker 1: He is a prince.
- 1:48Speaker 3: And so on Thursday, they turned up at a couple
- 1:50Speaker 3: of charities in Nottingham, and it looked very much.
- 1:54Speaker 1: Like a royal visit, if you've seen the photographs. They
- 1:57Speaker 1: had some crowds outside, not large crowds, but they were
- 2:00Speaker 1: not nothing.
- 2:01Speaker 3: And they did a walkabout, they met fans, they took selfies,
- 2:06Speaker 3: they kissed.
- 2:06Speaker 1: Babies, and then they left. And this is what they missed.
- 2:10Speaker 1: In Britain, to be a prince, to be a member
- 2:12Speaker 1: of the royal family, it means a lot. People on
- 2:15Speaker 1: the high street, people in Britain... love these royals.
- 2:18Speaker 3: And they want to get any taste of it, any
- 2:22Speaker 3: closeness they can.
- 2:23Speaker 1: Here, it didn't matter. Harry walking into a Starbucks as
- 2:27Speaker 1: a prince, nobody cared about that here. He missed that.
- 2:30Speaker 1: Who wouldn't?
- 2:31Speaker 3: And so they're back in Britain being royals.
- 2:33Speaker 1: And the palace has a real problem on their hands here, Mark,
- 2:36Speaker 1: because how do they stop them? You can't stop private
- 2:39Speaker 1: individuals doing charity events. So they're probably just going to
- 2:43Speaker 1: have to put up with this.
- 2:45Speaker 2: Now, Rob Shooter, nothing personal, but what the hell does
- 2:49Speaker 2: this royal family actually mean anyway? What do they really do?
- 2:52Speaker 2: What is the purpose of it?
- 2:53Speaker 1: This is why your shows are hit. You just get
- 2:57Speaker 1: to the chase. They do absolutely nothing. There is no
- 3:00Speaker 1: purpose to it. It is a reality show. It is
- 3:04Speaker 1: very comforting.
- 3:05Speaker 3: Older people will say that they have fond memories.
- 3:10Speaker 1: Of the Queen.
- 3:12Speaker 3: But I think for a new generation, William knows that
- 3:16Speaker 3: changes are going to have to be made. Gone are
- 3:18Speaker 3: the days when you can be born into a position
- 3:22Speaker 3: of great power and privilege and expect everybody to bow
- 3:25Speaker 3: and curtsy.
- 3:26Speaker 1: Now you have to earn that right.
- 3:28Speaker 3: And they haven't done that for generations. And so it's
- 3:33Speaker 3: really complicated, this new world that we.
- 3:35Speaker 1: Do live in.
- 3:38Speaker 3: We want people running the show in charge who we pick,
- 3:42Speaker 3: who we elect. God forbid that if Harry had been
- 3:47Speaker 3: born first, Harry would be the next king. And so
- 3:50Speaker 3: it's just a real, really dodgy system. It's a system
- 3:55Speaker 3: that's based on luck. And so far, Britain's had some
- 3:58Speaker 3: good kings, some bad kings, some good queens, some bad queens.
- 4:01Speaker 3: But now I think the public, for the first time ever,
- 4:04Speaker 3: at least in my lifetime, the opinion polls over there
- 4:07Speaker 3: are 50-50 for.
- 4:08Speaker 1: And against the monarchy. And so, yeah, they've got.
- 4:10Speaker 3: To get their act together. They cost a ton of money.
- 4:14Speaker 3: And the Brits are asking the same question you just asked,
- 4:17Speaker 3: which is, what do we get for all this money
- 4:19Speaker 3: we spend on them?
- 4:20Speaker 2: You know what the real problem is? I could see
- 4:22Speaker 2: years ago Diana or somebody like that. It was glamorous.
- 4:26Speaker 2: Look how glamorous she looks. Look what she's wearing. Look
- 4:28Speaker 2: what restaurant she went to. Look what she's doing. Well,
- 4:31Speaker 2: that's a million people on Instagram now that do that.
- 4:34Speaker 2: Every influencer. So what the hell do we need them
- 4:35Speaker 2: for anymore?
- 4:37Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. You're right to it. The world has changed.
- 4:40Speaker 3: And I think social media and Instagram, it's changed the
- 4:43Speaker 3: way that we connect with people. I'm told that when
- 4:45Speaker 3: William's king and his dad is, you know, is.
- 4:49Speaker 1: Recovering from cancer, we wish him nothing but the best.
- 4:52Speaker 3: But William will be the next king forever. of England, major,
- 4:55Speaker 3: major changes are going to be made. I'm told that
- 4:58Speaker 3: Buckingham Palace will no longer be a palace. It's going
- 5:01Speaker 3: to be a museum or they're going to turn it
- 5:03Speaker 3: back to the public.
- 5:04Speaker 1: They want, yeah, they want the tourists. They understand that
- 5:08Speaker 1: having a king or a queen brings tourists in, the
- 5:11Speaker 1: trooping of the colour, the guards outside the palace. It's
- 5:14Speaker 1: all lovely to see.
- 5:15Speaker 3: It's all history, but it doesn't really have a function anymore.
- 5:18Speaker 3: And so William's going to really streamline it and William's
- 5:21Speaker 3: going to cut off a lot of those royals who
- 5:24Speaker 3: are on the gravy train. So when William's king, things
- 5:26Speaker 3: will change.
- 5:27Speaker 1: But for the next.
- 5:27Speaker 3: Few years, while his dad's on the throne, Harry's going
- 5:31Speaker 3: to do whatever the hell he wants. There's nothing they
- 5:35Speaker 3: can do about it.
- 5:35Speaker 2: Rob Shooter has a new novel. You can pre-order it
- 5:38Speaker 2: right now. You should. He's got great books. The new
- 5:40Speaker 2: novel is Queen Elizabeth III. Tell us, what is this
- 5:45Speaker 2: book about? Tell us.
- 5:46Speaker 1: So what this book's about is it's set 15 years
- 5:50Speaker 1: in the future.
- 5:50Speaker 3: So fast forward, 15 years and I write a novel
- 5:56Speaker 3: with a new queen on the throne and it's not
- 5:59Speaker 3: who you think it is.
- 6:01Speaker 1: There is a disaster. There's an abdication. There's decisions that are.
- 6:05Speaker 3: Made and it turns the royal family upside down and
- 6:09Speaker 3: And so in 15 years from now, it's not William,
- 6:13Speaker 3: it's not William's children. I have a young lady who
- 6:17Speaker 3: suddenly becomes queen through really exceptional circumstances and what that
- 6:22Speaker 3: looks like. And so it's a fun, it's novel, it's
- 6:25Speaker 3: all fiction. None of this is going to happen. I
- 6:27Speaker 3: don't want any of this to happen, but I think
- 6:30Speaker 3: it's a real story about families. You know, they're the
- 6:33Speaker 3: most famous family in the world and that family is.
- 6:37Speaker 1: A family business. And anybody who's ever worked in the
- 6:40Speaker 1: family business, it can be really difficult.
- 6:42Speaker 3: So it's a story about what it's like to work
- 6:44Speaker 3: with your relatives, a bit jealous. You know, is it
- 6:47Speaker 3: possible for a mother.
- 6:48Speaker 1: To be jealous of her daughter? What happens with that?
- 6:51Speaker 3: Is it possible to find love, to have any normality
- 6:55Speaker 3: in your life if you're the Queen of England? And
- 6:58Speaker 3: so it's a really fun family drama that just happens
- 7:01Speaker 3: to be set within the most famous family in the world.
- 7:06Speaker 2: Well, everybody go pre-order. It's a new novel, Queen Elizabeth III.
- 7:09Speaker 2: It's by Rob Shooter. Pre-order it right now. Hey, this
- 7:13Speaker 2: Kelly Clarkson thing was the stupidest story I've ever heard.
- 7:17Speaker 2: I mean, you go into certain stores, they got something
- 7:19Speaker 2: on the wall that's amazing, but it's part of their decor.
- 7:22Speaker 2: It's not for sale. What didn't she grasp about that?
- 7:26Speaker 1: And she didn't get her own way. So she turned
- 7:28Speaker 1: up in Brooklyn. And I'm sure anyone that's been into
- 7:31Speaker 1: a store in Brooklyn, they're kind of hip and cool.
- 7:33Speaker 1: They're a little too cool for school. And there's always
- 7:36Speaker 1: a little bit of an attitude. I was in Brooklyn
- 7:38Speaker 1: a couple of weekends ago, and I went to get
- 7:40Speaker 1: a cup of coffee and a bagel. And I just
- 7:42Speaker 1: wasn't cool enough for the store, and they let me
- 7:44Speaker 1: know it. So there's something about Brooklyn. They like Harry Styles.
- 7:48Speaker 1: They like Zoe Kravitz. They're really hipsters. And so Kelly
- 7:51Speaker 1: turned up. She's never been the coolest celebrity in the world.
- 7:54Speaker 3: She turned up. She wanted to buy this bird, this
- 7:57Speaker 3: mechanical bird on the wall. They told her it was
- 7:59Speaker 3: not for sale. But they did tell her, this is
- 8:01Speaker 3: the artist who made it. You can contact him, and
- 8:04Speaker 3: he'll give you a special commission. That wasn't good enough.
- 8:07Speaker 1: And I think what this is, is it's David and Goliath,
- 8:10Speaker 1: isn't it? It's celebrities. It's people with power. acting very,
- 8:14Speaker 1: very poorly.
- 8:15Speaker 3: You know, this store, it's a mom and pop store
- 8:18Speaker 3: in Brooklyn. They're now getting death threats. Eight million of
- 8:22Speaker 3: Kelly Colloxon's fans now know where this store is. And
- 8:26Speaker 3: so I'm really shocked about Kelly doing this. I've known
- 8:29Speaker 3: her for a long time since American Idol.
- 8:32Speaker 1: I know a lot of celebrities, Mark, I know you
- 8:33Speaker 1: do too.
- 8:34Speaker 3: Most of them are not that nice. Kelly Clarkson is
- 8:37Speaker 3: one of the good ones. So I fear here, and
- 8:40Speaker 3: I might be giving her the benefit of the doubt,
- 8:43Speaker 3: I think she was having a terrible.
- 8:45Speaker 1: Day, she made a terrible mistake, but what I can't
- 8:47Speaker 1: explain is why she doubled down on it.
- 8:50Speaker 3: She kept going. I've worked with celebrities, I've done crisis
- 8:54Speaker 3: management for Jennifer Lopez, Jon Bon Jovi, Diddy, I've worked.
- 8:57Speaker 1: With some of the biggest stars in the world, and
- 8:59Speaker 1: if I was working with Kelly, I'd say just fix this.
- 9:02Speaker 1: Say sorry. Just say, I was having a bad day.
- 9:06Speaker 1: I was being a brat. I'm sorry.
- 9:09Speaker 3: And tell your fans to back off with the death
- 9:11Speaker 3: threats and all the ugly messages. It's amazing to me
- 9:16Speaker 3: that entitled, super rich celebrities just think they can get
- 9:22Speaker 3: away with anything.
- 9:23Speaker 1: But I think this one's going to bite, Kelly. It's
- 9:25Speaker 1: not a good look.
- 9:26Speaker 2: Yeah. Crisis management for Diddy. Oh, you must be tired.
- 9:30Speaker 2: That's full-time work. Oh, my God.
- 9:34Speaker 1: Years ago, everybody, it was like early 2000s. It was
- 9:38Speaker 1: 20 years ago.
- 9:39Speaker 3: He wasn't quite yet the Diddy we know, but I
- 9:41Speaker 3: talked about it. I read a story for The Hollywood Reporter,
- 9:44Speaker 3: and I was really honest about it.
- 9:45Speaker 1: I was like, did I miss any red flags? Was
- 9:47Speaker 1: he just an awful person back then? And I was so,
- 9:51Speaker 1: you know, I.
- 9:51Speaker 3: Was soul-searched, and when I came to the conclusion, I was,
- 9:55Speaker 3: I wanted to miss the red flags. I was so,
- 9:59Speaker 3: as a young kid, it was 20 years ago. And
- 10:02Speaker 3: it was my first big celebrity I worked for. And
- 10:04Speaker 3: I was starstruck.
- 10:06Speaker 1: And that's why they get away with stuff for so long.
- 10:09Speaker 1: They use that.
- 10:11Speaker 3: And so, yeah, so Diddy was one of my very
- 10:13Speaker 3: first clients.
- 10:14Speaker 1: In New York.
- 10:14Speaker 2: Yeah, but people change over 10, 20 years. And if
- 10:16Speaker 2: you're the biggest star in the world and you're in
- 10:18Speaker 2: this big star bubble, it can really change your behavior.
- 10:22Speaker 1: You're right. You're right.
- 10:23Speaker 3: I didn't want to let myself off the hook on
- 10:26Speaker 3: that because there's some truth to that, too. The Diddy
- 10:28Speaker 3: I knew wasn't the Diddy that he is today. And yes,
- 10:31Speaker 3: there was early warning signs.
- 10:32Speaker 1: He was always arrogant. He was always rude. He was
- 10:35Speaker 1: always full of himself. But he wasn't quite as sure
- 10:38Speaker 1: of himself as he wasn't a billionaire.
- 10:41Speaker 3: He was starting out in the music business. He was
- 10:43Speaker 3: starting out in the fashion business. Once that success hit.
- 10:49Speaker 3: You know, I don't know if it changes.
- 10:50Speaker 1: You or just reveals who you really, really are. That's true.
- 10:56Speaker 1: Whatever the result is here, it wasn't pretty. He's a
- 11:00Speaker 1: bad guy.
- 11:01Speaker 2: Yeah, you're right. It's like drinking. It brings out the
- 11:03Speaker 2: real you sometimes.
- 11:05Speaker 1: I'm a good drunk. What do you like when you drink, Mark?
- 11:08Speaker 2: Water. I'm drinking the water right now.
- 11:09Speaker 1: I sent you. There you go.
- 11:13Speaker 2: Uh, no, let's see. Let's go over everything. You got, uh,
- 11:15Speaker 2: your sub stack, right? People can go sign up for that.
- 11:17Speaker 1: Rob. Thank you.
- 11:18Speaker 3: I'm loving doing sub stacks. Each day I'm breaking news
- 11:21Speaker 3: on sub stack. It's a big housewife week.
- 11:23Speaker 1: I know we like the housewife.
- 11:24Speaker 3: So the New York ladies are coming back to TV.
- 11:26Speaker 2: Oh no.
- 11:27Speaker 1: Ramona, Luan, all those, all those ladies. So they, they stopped,
- 11:33Speaker 1: they stopped getting ratings. Bravo don't fire you if you
- 11:35Speaker 1: deliver ratings.
- 11:36Speaker 3: That's, that's what TV is about. They don't care about
- 11:38Speaker 3: the quality of the product. Uh, it's how many eyeballs
- 11:41Speaker 3: you get. And so nobody was watching them anymore. So
- 11:43Speaker 3: they all got fired. And then E, who used to
- 11:46Speaker 3: be owned by Bravo, got sold off. So E now
- 11:48Speaker 3: is a separate company and E's given the ladies, the
- 11:51Speaker 3: original New York ladies, their own show. So they're coming
- 11:54Speaker 3: back to E. It's make or break week for them
- 11:57Speaker 3: because if people don't turn in, it's the last stop
- 12:00Speaker 3: on the train.
- 12:01Speaker 1: It feels to me as if we've sort of, we've
- 12:03Speaker 1: got to the end of that journey.
- 12:04Speaker 2: Everybody listening, make sure you don't turn in. Don't do it. But, uh, Hey,
- 12:10Speaker 2: but everybody go to Substack. Go to Rob Shooter's Substack.
- 12:14Speaker 2: It's naughty but nice. And then get his new book.
- 12:17Speaker 2: You can pre-order it right now. I need your help.
- 12:21Speaker 2: We need your help with the new novel.
- 12:23Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 12:23Speaker 2: Queen Elizabeth III. Order the new novel, Queen Elizabeth III.
- 12:28Speaker 2: And you've got a YouTube channel people can watch. Rob
- 12:32Speaker 2: Shooter at YouTube. And, well, Rob Shooter, great as always.
- 12:35Speaker 2: Thanks for being with us.
- 12:37Speaker 1: The best. We'll see you soon, my friends. Take care.
- 12:39Speaker 1: All right.
- 12:39Speaker 2: Take care. And don't forget, coming up at noon today,
- 12:43Speaker 2: Buck Sexton and Clay Travis. That's a great show every day.
- 12:45Speaker 2: You get two hosts for the price of one. Then
- 12:48Speaker 2: at 3 o'clock, you got the most listened to radio
- 12:50Speaker 2: show in America, Sean Hannity. Jesse Kelly at 6. Very
- 12:55Speaker 2: funny Jimmy Fallon every night, 9 to midnight. Don't forget,
- 12:58Speaker 2: I'm now three hours. 9 to noon, 9 a.m. to noon. And,
- 13:02Speaker 2: of course, before me, Curtis Lewa and Larry Menti here
- 13:06Speaker 2: on 710WOR.
