- 0:00Speaker 1: Guess who? It's 10 o'clock. Do you care where your
- 0:03Speaker 1: parents are?
- 0:04Speaker 2: This episode is rated M for Misty. Yes, that's right,
- 0:08Speaker 2: this is a Misty episode, so it will be laced
- 0:10Speaker 2: with profanity even more than usual. If you're not comfortable
- 0:13Speaker 2: with this level of profanity, perhaps this isn't the episode
- 0:16Speaker 2: for you. But we have many other episodes to choose
- 0:18Speaker 2: from that do not feature Misty and will probably be
- 0:21Speaker 2: far less offensive. Okay, maybe. With that having been said,
- 0:25Speaker 2: on with the show.
- 0:33Speaker 3: Defense Corps forces reported just moments ago.
- 0:38Speaker 4: This is not a drill.
- 0:39Speaker 2: Repeat, this is not the drill.
- 0:41Speaker 5: At this time, we are requesting the immediate and orderly
- 0:46Speaker 5: evacuation of the vicinity.
- 0:49Speaker 6: The Coast Guard and the Navy have been alerted and
- 0:51Speaker 6: are standing by on the eastern seaboard.
- 0:53Speaker 7: It continues to burn out of control.
- 0:56Speaker 8: It has been regular.
- 0:57Speaker 9: Every five to ten minutes, there has been another convoy
- 0:59Speaker 9: of units, fire companies, paramedics.
- 1:03Speaker 10: A citywide emergency has been declared.
- 1:05Speaker 8: Police officers are still on tactical full alert.
- 1:08Speaker 4: 2,000 National Guardsmen are standing by.
- 1:11Speaker 2: Air defense warning read. It's time for Movie Meltdown's Attack
- 1:19Speaker 2: of the Killers soundtrack.
- 1:21Speaker 11: Live transmission has begun, and we're into the final hour
- 1:25Speaker 11: of hell.
- 1:47Speaker 12: What's up, and welcome to Movie Meltdown's Attack of the
- 1:49Speaker 12: Killer soundtrack.
- 1:50Speaker 13: I am Brian, and with me, two somewhat familiar special guests.
- 1:54Speaker 5: Jacqueline.
- 1:55Speaker 9: And Nick.
- 1:56Speaker 13: Who you may remember.
- 1:57Speaker 12: Actually, Jacqueline's been here for some of those Halloween episodes recently.
- 2:01Speaker 13: But for the music tie-ins.
- 2:02Speaker 12: You've been here for that Prince extravaganza we threw together
- 2:07Speaker 12: and maybe one of those performing live music here in
- 2:13Speaker 12: this very venue.
- 2:14Speaker 1: Yes.
- 2:15Speaker 14: I might have showed up for that.
- 2:17Speaker 13: Paula House of Usher.
- 2:18Speaker 12: An epic, epic episode that I actually re-listened to this
- 2:21Speaker 12: past Halloween.
- 2:23Speaker 14: Oh, yeah?
- 2:23Speaker 13: It's still awesome.
- 2:25Speaker 12: I think it holds up, so you should all go
- 2:26Speaker 12: re-listen to that one. I'm sure you've already heard it,
- 2:29Speaker 12: but listen.
- 2:30Speaker 14: To it again.
- 2:31Speaker 13: Because we're all awesome and happy.
- 2:32Speaker 14: It has a re-listenability.
- 2:33Speaker 13: Interesting things to say. That just never dies.
- 2:38Speaker 12: Anyway, this is a very special episode. Special in quotation
- 2:42Speaker 12: marks like most of our episodes. But it's been in
- 2:46Speaker 12: the works for well over a year. Like this specific one,
- 2:50Speaker 12: I guess. Some of this that I'm about to bust
- 2:52Speaker 12: out has been in my possession for a very long time.
- 2:55Speaker 12: But the basic idea of this specific episode is.
- 2:58Speaker 13: Well over a year now, if not longer.
- 3:01Speaker 12: And to get to it, this is the... I'm trying
- 3:05Speaker 12: to decide what to call it. How about our segment
- 3:08Speaker 12: can be a vinyl fetish?
- 3:11Speaker 14: I like to put those two words together.
- 3:12Speaker 13: Wait for the sound of our twisted little segment intro.
- 3:16Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 3:24Speaker 13: It's time for Vinyl Fetish. Okay, it's creepy, I know.
- 3:29Speaker 12: So, and for you two, I figured the people listening
- 3:34Speaker 12: at home or wherever it is that they're listening, they
- 3:37Speaker 12: don't know what song is coming next, which I think
- 3:39Speaker 12: is kind of the beauty of this type of show.
- 3:41Speaker 12: It's one of the few things I kind of like
- 3:43Speaker 12: about traditional radio, which isn't much because I don't get,
- 3:48Speaker 12: I've tried to listen to it a little more frequently lately.
- 3:50Speaker 12: And then I remember what I don't like about it,
- 3:52Speaker 12: which is all the other crazy nonsense and most of
- 3:55Speaker 12: their people on the microphone I don't get along with
- 3:58Speaker 12: and tons and tons of ads that yell at you.
- 4:01Speaker 12: So there's all those other things in some of the songs.
- 4:04Speaker 12: But there is something to be said about having no
- 4:07Speaker 12: idea what song is coming next, that when I listen
- 4:09Speaker 12: to just stuff recorded on my phone that I downloaded there,
- 4:13Speaker 12: I know what's coming. Even if it's on random shuffle,
- 4:17Speaker 12: I know what we're dealing with. I know what potentially
- 4:20Speaker 12: could be coming next out of the arsenal. But yeah,
- 4:23Speaker 12: when you're just kind of thrown into it blind and
- 4:25Speaker 12: just have to sit there and listen to whatever they
- 4:27Speaker 12: put on next.
- 4:28Speaker 14: It's like getting a mixtape without a soundtrack attached to it.
- 4:32Speaker 12: There's something different about that that I think is, and
- 4:35Speaker 12: I think people are kind of coming back around to
- 4:37Speaker 12: that idea. Everybody loved the new digital when you could
- 4:41Speaker 12: load up 10,000 songs into your phone and carry it
- 4:43Speaker 12: around with you. But it's weird how many people are
- 4:45Speaker 12: coming back to some sort of more traditional radio show
- 4:49Speaker 12: type of thing.
- 4:49Speaker 13: Like this where you don't know what's coming next.
- 4:52Speaker 12: So I figured this time you have joined me for
- 4:56Speaker 12: this little co-hosting segment.
- 4:57Speaker 13: You also don't know what's coming next.
- 5:00Speaker 9: I have no idea.
- 5:01Speaker 12: I've specifically not informed them of what these records are
- 5:04Speaker 12: that are about to be busted out.
- 5:06Speaker 13: And so it's a surprise for everyone.
- 5:08Speaker 14: I'm kind of terrified.
- 5:10Speaker 7: I am clueless.
- 5:10Speaker 13: You should be, actually. Knowing Brian, I'm kind of scared.
- 5:14Speaker 13: It's up to you.
- 5:16Speaker 1: So.
- 5:17Speaker 12: Also, this is not going to be cleaned up because
- 5:21Speaker 12: I feel like that's the point of this kind of
- 5:23Speaker 12: an episode. It's taken directly from these vinyl records that
- 5:28Speaker 12: I have sitting here in front of me. And normally
- 5:32Speaker 12: I'll do as much as I can to clean up
- 5:34Speaker 12: the sound and try to make it sound.
- 5:36Speaker 13: Better and good and all of the above. But that
- 5:40Speaker 13: seems like.
- 5:40Speaker 12: That would defeat the purpose if I took it off
- 5:43Speaker 12: of vinyl and then cleaned it up so it didn't
- 5:44Speaker 12: sound like it was coming from vinyl. I mean, people,
- 5:46Speaker 12: that's why they come for vinyl. They love the lush, wonderful,
- 5:50Speaker 12: I don't know. Sometimes they get a little too into
- 5:52Speaker 12: the sound of vinyl.
- 5:53Speaker 14: It's like kind of the difference between an old Polaroid
- 5:58Speaker 14: photograph and a digital photograph with flash on.
- 6:01Speaker 13: It has its character.
- 6:04Speaker 5: It's grainy.
- 6:05Speaker 13: I'm assuming you come for something like this.
- 6:08Speaker 7: Yeah, vinyl is like listening to a CD, except you're
- 6:11Speaker 7: on heroin.
- 6:12Speaker 12: Except you've gone back in time. You just crank the
- 6:16Speaker 12: handle on your Victrola. So yeah, that's the point of this.
- 6:21Speaker 13: Just so you know, you'll hear the hiss. You'll hear
- 6:24Speaker 13: some pops. You might even get a little scratch in
- 6:26Speaker 13: there somewhere.
- 6:27Speaker 12: And that's the point of this type of episode. So
- 6:30Speaker 12: that's kind of what we're doing on this one. So
- 6:33Speaker 12: we're going to kick things off with what is possibly
- 6:35Speaker 12: the most.
- 6:36Speaker 13: Obscure thing that I've found. Maybe the strangest, but I don't.
- 6:40Speaker 2: Know about that.
- 6:41Speaker 13: We'll have to see. So anyway, to bust it out.
- 6:44Speaker 12: The first in the lineup comes from Marlena Dietrich. You'll notice,
- 6:49Speaker 12: you can flip it over here.
- 6:50Speaker 15: Yeah, give that over here.
- 6:52Speaker 7: Let's take a look.
- 6:53Speaker 13: It's all in German.
- 6:54Speaker 16: What a babe.
- 6:55Speaker 13: She's a babe, first and foremost.
- 6:57Speaker 14: See, I told you this was going to be terrifying.
- 6:59Speaker 14: German is terrifying. Anything in German sounds scary.
- 7:03Speaker 13: Look at the tracks on the back. Let's see.
- 7:08Speaker 14: Ich bin von Kopf bis Fuß auf Liebe... I can
- 7:15Speaker 14: tell that I'm really good at German.
- 7:17Speaker 7: At least two of these song names are Johnny and Peter.
- 7:22Speaker 12: But they are mostly from her films, and I would
- 7:25Speaker 12: say early films because they're not the English ones that
- 7:29Speaker 12: more people got to know her in over the years. So, yeah,
- 7:32Speaker 12: the first one that we're going to go with here
- 7:35Speaker 12: is actually the last track on there. I won't butcher it,
- 7:38Speaker 12: but if you want to take a shot at side two,
- 7:41Speaker 12: the last track.
- 7:43Speaker 14: Wenn ich mir was wünschen dürft.
- 7:50Speaker 12: Which translates to the man in search of his murderer.
- 7:54Speaker 12: And this is how you know it's German. If you
- 7:56Speaker 12: look up the description, it's a 1931 German comedy. Nothing
- 8:02Speaker 12: like murder and comedy.
- 8:03Speaker 7: That was a funny decade for Germany.
- 8:07Speaker 2: 31.
- 8:07Speaker 12: I guess they were just coming out of one and
- 8:10Speaker 12: getting ready to go into another and We need a
- 8:12Speaker 12: comedy to lighten the mood.
- 8:14Speaker 13: Comedy about murder.
- 8:16Speaker 12: So anyway, here we go. Into some German action. After that,
- 8:20Speaker 12: I swear, it's pretty much all in English.
- 9:13Speaker 15: Zeit Wenn ich mir was wünschen dürfte.
- 9:56Speaker 1: Denn.
- 9:50Speaker 15: There's one in French.
- 9:52Speaker 9: Some French titles.
- 10:18Speaker 7: What does that mean i'm annoyed.
- 10:23Speaker 12: No i'm sure that's not what it means it might
- 10:26Speaker 12: be i.
- 10:27Speaker 14: Can't remember it's my something i just.
- 10:32Speaker 7: Can't i annoy myself i think that's what.
- 10:34Speaker 14: It means is my name.
- 10:38Speaker 7: I think it means i know.
- 10:39Speaker 14: Myself so where.
- 10:41Speaker 3: Did you get this record from brian Actually, that's probably
- 10:47Speaker 3: the last one of the bunch, one of the last
- 10:50Speaker 3: couple that I came across, and I found it in a,
- 10:53Speaker 3: this town is littered.
- 10:54Speaker 13: With used record stores as of the last couple of years.
- 10:58Speaker 12: For a while, everything shut down and we had nothing,
- 11:00Speaker 12: and now we've become part of the trendy scene of
- 11:04Speaker 12: let's have a record store free.
- 11:06Speaker 2: On the street.
- 11:07Speaker 1: No, really.
- 11:07Speaker 13: For a while, we literally had three on the street.
- 11:10Speaker 13: They're shifting and moving a little bit, but yeah.
- 11:13Speaker 7: Astro Black closed.
- 11:16Speaker 13: It's extremely depressing. Yeah.
- 11:18Speaker 14: I mean, yeah, Jim just.
- 11:19Speaker 13: The other half is still.
- 11:21Speaker 14: Yeah, Fat Rabbit just took over the whole store.
- 11:23Speaker 13: I mean, they had a lot of stuff, so... Yeah.
- 11:25Speaker 13: People just weren't buying... I don't know if it's that.
- 11:29Speaker 14: I don't think it had to do with sales. I
- 11:30Speaker 14: think Jim just literally gets bored with stuff and didn't
- 11:33Speaker 14: want to own a record store anymore.
- 11:34Speaker 1: Wow.
- 11:35Speaker 14: And now he wants to do other things.
- 11:36Speaker 7: He didn't want to walk around with a clipboard and
- 11:38Speaker 7: do inventory.
- 11:40Speaker 13: Dude, that's all I want to do is own my
- 11:42Speaker 13: own stuff.
- 11:42Speaker 14: I mean, that was my favorite record store to go
- 11:45Speaker 14: to because... Jim didn't just... He, like, curated his record collection.
- 11:49Speaker 13: He definitely did.
- 11:50Speaker 14: And, like, he could tell... You could pick out any record.
- 11:53Speaker 14: He would tell you all about it. At least if
- 11:55Speaker 14: he didn't know anything, he was like, hang on, I
- 11:57Speaker 14: think I know something about this.
- 11:59Speaker 12: And that's... Yeah, that's kind of what I was saying
- 12:03Speaker 12: before with the, like, going in blind. Like, if you
- 12:05Speaker 12: have someone that curates things for you, like, it makes
- 12:08Speaker 12: it more interesting. That's kind of why I like piecing
- 12:10Speaker 12: these episodes together is that same thing of having... Not
- 12:14Speaker 12: even somebody who knows what they're doing. Just someone put
- 12:16Speaker 12: together a series of things. They either have some reason
- 12:19Speaker 12: behind it or have some story behind it. So yeah,
- 12:23Speaker 12: I mean, it's one of the things, I guess, that
- 12:25Speaker 12: brought people back to record stores like that one, which
- 12:28Speaker 12: sadly is closed now. But yeah, I think that's part
- 12:31Speaker 12: of it is a little weird personal interaction that brings.
- 12:35Speaker 13: You to listening to different things. And you don't get that.
- 12:39Speaker 12: Downloading stuff from itunes or just scamming stuff off the
- 12:42Speaker 12: internet like most people do yeah and i think.
- 12:44Speaker 14: There's something about to be said about how vinyl like
- 12:46Speaker 14: you have to do something to get the music to
- 12:48Speaker 14: play it's like this that's why i have a record
- 12:51Speaker 14: on and take care of them it's a lot of
- 12:54Speaker 14: trouble a more active listening experience i guess and it's
- 12:57Speaker 14: just nice to like have your friends over then you
- 12:59Speaker 14: put a record on and it's more social than a
- 13:02Speaker 14: cd or it.
- 13:03Speaker 12: Is a process We've discussed that on the show before.
- 13:06Speaker 12: That's still why there's a weird subsection of VHS people.
- 13:11Speaker 13: Because it's a physical thing.
- 13:13Speaker 12: And parts are moving and things are actually physically taking
- 13:17Speaker 12: place to bring you this.
- 13:19Speaker 13: Much like the record.
- 13:20Speaker 12: It's physically spinning around.
- 13:23Speaker 13: When you get to digital, nothing does anything anymore. It's
- 13:26Speaker 13: just click the button.
- 13:28Speaker 12: It is something that I think was lost and now
- 13:31Speaker 12: there's a resurgence of people trying.
- 13:33Speaker 13: To find it.
- 13:37Speaker 12: Speaking of weird people, so we're going to go.
- 13:41Speaker 13: To some in a minute here.
- 13:43Speaker 12: Again, as I said there, records are trouble. So I
- 13:46Speaker 12: was pretty early on, I embraced digital music. So you
- 13:50Speaker 12: may wonder how this whole thing originally came together. And
- 13:55Speaker 12: to get to that story, we're going to go on
- 13:57Speaker 12: a little side trip here. To figure out what inspired it,
- 14:02Speaker 12: we have to go to the Bastion of Awesomeness. And
- 14:04Speaker 12: longtime listeners will know the infamous name that is the
- 14:07Speaker 12: Bastion of Awesomes.
- 14:08Speaker 13: If not, if you're not familiar with it, don't worry.
- 14:11Speaker 12: Just know that we're going to veer off here for
- 14:12Speaker 12: a couple of songs so we can visit with Misty.
- 14:15Speaker 13: And we might just rope Jay into it as well.
- 14:17Speaker 13: So let's go there right now. All right, so now
- 14:36Speaker 13: we are here at the Bastion of Awesomeness.
- 14:39Speaker 1: Yay.
- 14:40Speaker 13: With Misty.
- 14:41Speaker 9: That's me.
- 14:42Speaker 12: So on this specific vinyl episode, I thought we would
- 14:47Speaker 12: go with what I think... I mean, obviously, I've been
- 14:50Speaker 12: accumulating my own random weird vinyl.
- 14:53Speaker 13: That I just ended up with over the years.
- 14:56Speaker 12: But I think it was this past year or so
- 14:59Speaker 12: when we came across this specific album. I was like,
- 15:03Speaker 12: now there are weird things that only... pop up on vinyl,
- 15:07Speaker 12: or it's kind of the only way you usually come
- 15:09Speaker 12: across them.
- 15:11Speaker 13: And I'm like, maybe those are the ones I should
- 15:13Speaker 13: accumulate for the vinyl episode. And that would be this
- 15:17Speaker 13: album right here.
- 15:18Speaker 9: Which is the most amazing album cover I've ever seen
- 15:21Speaker 9: in my entire life, by the way.
- 15:22Speaker 13: The original soundtrack from The American Dreamer. Misty, would you
- 15:26Speaker 13: like to go into this album, which belongs to you?
- 15:29Speaker 9: It is the most fantastic looking thing I've ever seen
- 15:31Speaker 9: in my entire life. It has a rather... I would
- 15:34Speaker 9: say handsome and yet confused-looking Dennis Hopper on the cover.
- 15:37Speaker 13: That's accurate.
- 15:39Speaker 9: I would ask Boyfriend what exactly kind of gun that
- 15:42Speaker 9: is he's toting with him. I want to assume an AR-15, perhaps?
- 15:47Speaker 13: The fact that you think you know says a lot
- 15:50Speaker 13: about you as a person.
- 15:50Speaker 9: It's either an AK or an AR.
- 15:52Speaker 18: Mm-hmm.
- 15:53Speaker 9: I can go ask Boyfriend real quick what's in it.
- 15:55Speaker 9: I just want to see if I'm right here handed.
- 15:57Speaker 9: I'll be right back.
- 15:59Speaker 18: Mm-hmm.
- 16:06Speaker 9: I was totally wrong. Apparently it's an F.A.L.
- 16:10Speaker 2: All right.
- 16:10Speaker 9: I have no idea what that means. Boyfriend was too
- 16:13Speaker 9: busy in his gun safe to come help me any
- 16:14Speaker 9: further than that. Sadly, not making that up. You can
- 16:19Speaker 9: hear it rattling in the background.
- 16:21Speaker 12: No wonder you like this album with a crazy, wild-eyed
- 16:24Speaker 12: Dennis Hopper toting a rifle.
- 16:27Speaker 4: F.A.L.
- 16:29Speaker 9: With this beautiful jacket of many colors.
- 16:31Speaker 13: This jacket's pretty impressive.
- 16:33Speaker 9: It's like somebody took a Mexican blanket and made a
- 16:37Speaker 9: jacket out of it.
- 16:40Speaker 13: I can't tell.
- 16:40Speaker 12: It almost looks Native American-y. Not that that doesn't cross
- 16:44Speaker 12: over a little bit, but it's.
- 16:46Speaker 13: Like some sort of Navajo pattern mixed with a Mexican blanket.
- 16:50Speaker 9: A little bit of quilting going.
- 16:52Speaker 13: On in there. It's a sight to behold, let me
- 16:56Speaker 13: tell you.
- 16:56Speaker 9: He was quite a handsome man. Not quite right in
- 16:59Speaker 9: the head by any means.
- 17:00Speaker 13: A genius and a crazy person.
- 17:02Speaker 7: My favorite.
- 17:04Speaker 13: So anyway, we came across this album and saw that
- 17:07Speaker 13: cover right there. And we're just like, whoa, I need that.
- 17:11Speaker 9: I needed it even more when he marked it down 50%.
- 17:13Speaker 9: He saw how besmitten I was with it. I just
- 17:15Speaker 9: made that word up, besmitten. How in love with this
- 17:18Speaker 9: album cover I was. And he was like, you know, $ 10.
- 17:21Speaker 9: And I'm like, fucking A.
- 17:24Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 17:25Speaker 9: Because I'm pretty sure that's what Dennis Hopper would have said.
- 17:28Speaker 9: Fucking A.
- 17:29Speaker 13: It does sound like something that would come out of
- 17:30Speaker 13: his mouth, especially in this era. This is an extra crazy.
- 17:34Speaker 9: That's probably the short version of what he said. There
- 17:36Speaker 9: probably would have been some rambling that involved way more profanities.
- 17:39Speaker 13: And some sort of government conspiracy in the middle of
- 17:41Speaker 13: it somewhere.
- 17:42Speaker 19: Probably.
- 17:42Speaker 9: And then he would have segued into an orgy and then.
- 17:45Speaker 13: Done a whole lot of drugs. But later he turned
- 17:49Speaker 13: his life around. So good for you, Dennis. He did he?
- 17:51Speaker 15: Oh, yeah.
- 17:52Speaker 1: Oh, okay.
- 17:53Speaker 9: I thought he was always just crazy.
- 17:54Speaker 7: Well, I mean, he was.
- 17:55Speaker 13: Always a little crazy, but, like, all the crazy drugs
- 17:58Speaker 13: in this lifestyle. Like, he hit rock.
- 18:00Speaker 12: Bottom in the 80s, and then mid-80s started trying to
- 18:04Speaker 12: clean himself up and get acting roles again. And by
- 18:07Speaker 12: the time you see, like, we had that 90s comeback, like,
- 18:10Speaker 12: he was clean. As far as I know, he was
- 18:12Speaker 12: off of everything at that point. He was just kind
- 18:14Speaker 12: of residual crazy, but that's why he did so many
- 18:18Speaker 12: movies in the 90s, because now he was, like.
- 18:20Speaker 9: Mario Brothers, yeah.
- 18:23Speaker 12: The greatest of which being the Mario brothers, obviously. And
- 18:27Speaker 12: he was, I mean, at first I think he was
- 18:29Speaker 12: just in the hole so much for all that, that
- 18:30Speaker 12: he was trying to make up for it and get some,
- 18:33Speaker 12: a good paycheck coming in. And then after that, he just,
- 18:35Speaker 12: I think he just liked to work.
- 18:37Speaker 13: Like again, once he was off all the drugs and
- 18:39Speaker 13: like he was busy, like.
- 18:42Speaker 9: He had to keep busy doing something, but again.
- 18:45Speaker 13: It was also like a lot of it, money going
- 18:48Speaker 13: towards art, which then became what he actually accumulated.
- 18:51Speaker 12: Like he had more money invested in his art collection
- 18:54Speaker 12: than what he made on the movies over the years.
- 18:56Speaker 12: I'm pretty sure by the time he was done, he
- 18:58Speaker 12: had a huge and impressive art collection in his house.
- 19:01Speaker 12: So Dennis Hopper, he's a fascinating man. And as I
- 19:08Speaker 12: listened to this album, I was like, there's a lot
- 19:10Speaker 12: of crazy hippie songs. And these hello people are kind
- 19:14Speaker 12: of disturbing a little bit. So you can Google a
- 19:17Speaker 12: picture of them if you want.
- 19:18Speaker 9: I think I'm okay.
- 19:19Speaker 12: But the one I'm going to go with, the one
- 19:21Speaker 12: that rounds out this album, is Every Road Singer's Other
- 19:24Speaker 12: Side of This Life.
- 19:26Speaker 18: ¶ ¶.
- 19:46Speaker 2: Would you like to know a secret? ¶ Just between.
- 19:51Speaker 6: You and me ¶ Don't know where I'm going next
- 19:57Speaker 6: ¶ Don't know where I'm gonna be ¶ That's.
- 20:03Speaker 10: Another side of this life.
- 20:06Speaker 6: ¶ I've been leaving ¶ That's just another side of this.
- 20:12Speaker 10: Life That's just another side of this life.
- 21:15Speaker 5: Thank God I'm going to Nashville. Way down to Tennessee.
- 21:21Speaker 5: All this tense and life I've been leading here.
- 21:26Speaker 20: Gonna be the death of me, baby. That's just another
- 21:30Speaker 20: side of it.
- 21:55Speaker 5: I don't know where I'm going now. Don't know where I'm.
- 22:05Speaker 2: Going to be.
- 22:06Speaker 5: That's just another side of this.
- 22:12Speaker 16: I said, that's just another.
- 22:29Speaker 2: Want some music for your ears? Doo-Wop Shop makes it
- 22:32Speaker 2: easy to rent for any event, business meeting, or special occasion.
- 22:35Speaker 2: From PA systems to karaoke machines to just about anything
- 22:38Speaker 2: that makes noise, you can rent it from the Doo-Wop Shop.
- 22:41Speaker 2: In Louisville, find them either at their Highland Store at
- 22:43Speaker 2: 1587 Bardstown Road or in the East End at 2915
- 22:48Speaker 2: South Hurstburn Parkway. And look for them online at DooWopShop.com.
- 22:52Speaker 2: Doo-Wop Shop. We're serious about music.
- 23:09Speaker 13: Hey there, this is John Doe.
- 23:10Speaker 2: You're listening to Movie Meltdown.
- 23:13Speaker 7: Glad you are, because otherwise you'd.
- 23:14Speaker 13: Be wasting your time playing some stupid video game.
- 23:31Speaker 1: All right.
- 23:32Speaker 12: So now we're back here and we, as we're, we're
- 23:35Speaker 12: piecing this episode together and I'm like, well.
- 23:38Speaker 13: Let's just pick some soundtrack stuff. And Misty's like, I
- 23:40Speaker 13: don't have any soundtrack stuff. And I'm like, I walked
- 23:42Speaker 13: in the bastion, passed one on the way to the
- 23:45Speaker 13: place for recording right now. You actually passed two because you.
- 23:48Speaker 9: Passed the Dennis Hopper one too because it was right
- 23:49Speaker 9: beside it.
- 23:49Speaker 13: Well, that one I came here specifically to talk about.
- 23:52Speaker 13: But I was like, you're like, I don't have any more.
- 23:53Speaker 13: And I'm like, I saw one when I walked in
- 23:54Speaker 13: the door.
- 23:55Speaker 9: I couldn't find my Dirty Dancing soundtrack. Sons of bitches.
- 23:57Speaker 13: You guys are lucky on that front. But the one.
- 24:00Speaker 9: Come on now.
- 24:01Speaker 18: No.
- 24:02Speaker 8: No, Eric Carman.
- 24:04Speaker 13: All the other 60 songs I'll give you. Those are awesome.
- 24:08Speaker 5: Even the.
- 24:09Speaker 9: She's like the witch.
- 24:10Speaker 13: I figured that was coming. But even the Bill Medley.
- 24:15Speaker 13: Jennifer Warrens.
- 24:16Speaker 2: There we go.
- 24:16Speaker 13: I knew that it was in there. That song's fun.
- 24:19Speaker 13: I like that song.
- 24:19Speaker 9: I like that song a lot. I love that soundtrack.
- 24:21Speaker 13: I liked that song a lot back in the day.
- 24:24Speaker 13: But thankfully you did not come across it.
- 24:27Speaker 9: What's the song that played when they broke the window?
- 24:29Speaker 9: When they broke the window. That song's awesome. I forget
- 24:31Speaker 9: what it is right off the top of my head.
- 24:32Speaker 1: Come on.
- 24:32Speaker 13: What is it?
- 24:33Speaker 5: Come on.
- 24:34Speaker 13: What is it?
- 24:34Speaker 9: The song where he breaks the window. And it's, you know.
- 24:38Speaker 13: She's like the wind.
- 24:41Speaker 9: He locks the car keys in the car.
- 24:43Speaker 12: I lock my keys in the car.
- 24:45Speaker 13: I think I'm gonna break the window. Cause I'm Patrick Swayze.
- 24:49Speaker 9: He was so fucking handsome.
- 24:52Speaker 13: I'm kinda handsome.
- 24:53Speaker 9: Kinda my ass. He was gorgeous.
- 24:56Speaker 13: He was so pretty. I hope baby never gets a
- 24:58Speaker 13: nose job.
- 25:00Speaker 2: She was cuter before that.
- 25:02Speaker 9: Oh my god, she was. She's unrecognizable.
- 25:05Speaker 13: Jennifer Grey, what were you thinking?
- 25:07Speaker 2: You were very pretty back then.
- 25:08Speaker 13: You're pretty now, but you had character back then. I
- 25:11Speaker 13: liked you better. Anyway, we actually pass by on the
- 25:16Speaker 13: way in.
- 25:17Speaker 12: And again, this is actually the only reason I know
- 25:21Speaker 12: of this movie. And that's kind of why I wanted
- 25:23Speaker 12: to do more of these soundtrack shows. Because there are
- 25:25Speaker 12: certain ones that I came across the movie only because
- 25:29Speaker 12: of the soundtrack. And this is one I do remember
- 25:31Speaker 12: seeing at a local comic and record.
- 25:33Speaker 13: Shop years ago. And going, wait, is that Tom Waits? So,
- 25:39Speaker 13: One from the Heart, which is the original motion picture
- 25:41Speaker 13: soundtrack for Francis Coppola's movie, featuring Tom Waits and Crystal Gale,
- 25:48Speaker 13: which seems like an odd pairing to me.
- 25:50Speaker 12: She's awesome.
- 25:50Speaker 9: What are you talking about?
- 25:51Speaker 13: But they're so different musical styles. I don't know. I
- 25:56Speaker 13: feel like it would be an odd mixture.
- 25:57Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 25:57Speaker 9: They both have hair and eyes. This is what you're
- 26:00Speaker 9: going with.
- 26:03Speaker 13: They've heard of music. They play instruments sometimes.
- 26:09Speaker 9: They have faces. You're welcome, people.
- 26:13Speaker 5: Don't eat them.
- 26:13Speaker 12: All you vegans out there, don't eat them.
- 26:22Speaker 13: Anyway, I think we're both big Tom Waits fans.
- 26:25Speaker 9: Hells yeah.
- 26:26Speaker 13: I think it's one of the crowning achievements of my
- 26:28Speaker 13: life that I saw him in person.
- 26:30Speaker 9: I saw him way closer than you did.
- 26:31Speaker 13: You were there. And you're a jerk because you sat
- 26:34Speaker 13: closer than me.
- 26:34Speaker 9: I sat way closer. I was in row F. You
- 26:36Speaker 9: were in like FF. You were like in the back.
- 26:39Speaker 13: FF is what I was thinking right about now.
- 26:41Speaker 2: So.
- 26:43Speaker 13: I just think, yeah, I think he's pretty awesome. Anyway,
- 26:45Speaker 13: so we were trying to pick. There's a lot of
- 26:47Speaker 13: Downer songs on this album, as we found out. They
- 26:49Speaker 13: were slow. They were slow.
- 26:50Speaker 9: Tired of picking up every song.
- 26:52Speaker 13: And then, like, bickering in the form of a song. Like,
- 26:55Speaker 13: I don't know what else.
- 26:55Speaker 9: It's just kind of fun in its own way.
- 26:56Speaker 12: It was funny only because he was throwing out some
- 26:58Speaker 12: interesting slams. How long have you been combing your hair
- 27:02Speaker 12: with a wrench? Like, that's something only Tom Waits can
- 27:05Speaker 12: say in Pull Off. But the one that we liked
- 27:09Speaker 12: that was actually a little more upbeat and definitely a
- 27:12Speaker 12: little more his pace, and specifically his pace around this time, because.
- 27:17Speaker 13: This would be 82.
- 27:19Speaker 12: So, yeah, he was kind of still coming off of
- 27:22Speaker 12: his earlier, weirder phase before he gets to the later,
- 27:26Speaker 12: weirder phase, which then has a lot of clanging metal
- 27:29Speaker 12: and whatnot.
- 27:30Speaker 13: But in the middle area there, he was doing a
- 27:33Speaker 13: lot more kind of beatnik-y stuff.
- 27:36Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 27:37Speaker 13: Which I appreciate.
- 27:39Speaker 9: It's not a duet on this one, is it?
- 27:40Speaker 2: I'm okay with it.
- 27:42Speaker 9: I like Crystal Gale.
- 27:43Speaker 13: I like Crystal Gale, but again, their stuff together was
- 27:46Speaker 13: very strange.
- 27:47Speaker 9: I would brush her hair for days.
- 27:49Speaker 13: With a wrench.
- 27:51Speaker 9: Seriously, her hair was so long she could step on it.
- 27:55Speaker 13: But this is Tom Waits doing Little Boy Blue.
- 28:09Speaker 5: Little boy blue, come blow your horn.
- 28:15Speaker 21: The dish ran away with the spoon.
- 28:18Speaker 22: Oh, get home again Saturday morning.
- 28:23Speaker 21: It never gets up before noon.
- 28:26Speaker 22: She used to render you legal and tender.
- 28:29Speaker 21: When you used to send her your promises warm. and
- 28:43Speaker 21: cut it right down to the quick. Don't sit home
- 28:47Speaker 21: and cry on the 4th of July. All right, now
- 28:50Speaker 21: you're hitting the bricks.
- 28:52Speaker 23: So abracadabra, now she disappeared. Everything's Canada dry. So wash
- 29:00Speaker 23: your behavior and rattle your case with a bottle of
- 29:04Speaker 23: bourbon goodbye.
- 29:30Speaker 5: The little boy blue lost.
- 29:35Speaker 18: Little Bo Peep. She fell through a hole in the nest.
- 29:39Speaker 5: Now ain't it peculiar.
- 29:43Speaker 18: That she's finally.
- 29:45Speaker 5: Cooled your big wheels just like all the rest.
- 30:00Speaker 22: Whenever it rains, the umbrellas complain.
- 30:03Speaker 23: They always get bleed for a jump. So mark it
- 30:07Speaker 23: and strike it. She's history now.
- 30:09Speaker 21: And you're hanging out at the pump.
- 30:13Speaker 18: It's like a bullet blue.
- 30:14Speaker 2: Come blow your horn.
- 30:16Speaker 7: The dish ran away with the spoon.
- 30:20Speaker 2: Warm again, warm again, Saturday morning.
- 30:23Speaker 22: It never gets up again. You used to send your
- 30:32Speaker 22: promises by. A dollar, a dollar, unbutton your collar. Come
- 30:37Speaker 22: out and holler at all you know.
- 31:24Speaker 18: Is there a horn blowing? There's an organ. There's a percussion.
- 31:27Speaker 5: No horns.
- 31:27Speaker 18: And a vocal. And a bass. None of these look
- 31:29Speaker 18: like come blow your horn.
- 31:29Speaker 5: Uh-uh.
- 31:52Speaker 12: All right, so to round things out, Misty's flipping through
- 31:56Speaker 12: the albums here, and I'm like, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.
- 31:59Speaker 9: This was in Boyfriend's collection, by the way. This was
- 32:01Speaker 9: in Boyfriend's side of the stack.
- 32:03Speaker 12: And I'm sure he will proudly claim it. And what's
- 32:07Speaker 12: funny is I've played at least one off of this already.
- 32:10Speaker 13: It's the video.
- 32:10Speaker 9: We watched the video.
- 32:11Speaker 13: While we had the actual vinyl here, I thought it
- 32:15Speaker 13: would be a good time to do a tie-in and
- 32:17Speaker 13: one of my favorite running segments, Jay, do you want
- 32:20Speaker 13: to come on board with this one?
- 32:21Speaker 18: I don't know.
- 32:21Speaker 2: Which one's in my collection?
- 32:23Speaker 13: How's that in my collection?
- 32:24Speaker 9: That was your collection. Don't act like that was not
- 32:26Speaker 9: in yours.
- 32:26Speaker 13: Why would you not be proud of this?
- 32:28Speaker 18: Did I buy that?
- 32:29Speaker 9: Yes, you did.
- 32:30Speaker 13: This is the vinyl version of the Iron Eagle soundtrack.
- 32:34Speaker 2: I don't remember that.
- 32:35Speaker 9: I'm pretty sure we got it at the flea market
- 32:37Speaker 9: in Memphis, and you were super excited about it.
- 32:39Speaker 13: That's why you should.
- 32:40Speaker 17: Flea market in Memphis.
- 32:41Speaker 9: Which one? The shitty one in Memphis. There was a
- 32:46Speaker 9: whole table of records. That's one of the ones you wanted.
- 32:48Speaker 24: Really?
- 32:48Speaker 9: Yes, it was.
- 32:49Speaker 1: Huh.
- 32:50Speaker 13: I didn't even know I had that.
- 32:53Speaker 9: He's trying to do.
- 32:54Speaker 13: No, I mean, I... Long-time listeners know Jay's brain doesn't
- 32:58Speaker 13: always work right.
- 32:59Speaker 1: It's okay.
- 33:00Speaker 2: I don't remember ever buying that.
- 33:01Speaker 12: Remembering things is not always top.
- 33:04Speaker 1: Of the list.
- 33:05Speaker 17: Well, when you get hit in the head a lot,
- 33:07Speaker 17: you know.
- 33:07Speaker 9: Well, if you quit talking shit, I wouldn't have to
- 33:10Speaker 9: keep putting you in your place.
- 33:11Speaker 13: I'll shut up.
- 33:13Speaker 9: Running about at the mouth like you do.
- 33:14Speaker 2: Be quiet.
- 33:15Speaker 1: Bitch, please.
- 33:17Speaker 12: So anyway, on that action montage there, I thought this
- 33:22Speaker 12: was a good, I know I've busted out the Queen
- 33:25Speaker 12: one in the past.
- 33:25Speaker 13: Already, but I'm like, the other tie-in with the name
- 33:30Speaker 13: in the title, I'm like.
- 33:31Speaker 12: I have to play that for our cheesy 80s segment here.
- 33:33Speaker 12: So this would be King Cobra. The title of the
- 33:37Speaker 12: song is Iron Eagle, parentheses, never say die, close parentheses.
- 33:43Speaker 15: Hell yeah.
- 33:44Speaker 13: You don't want to leave that hanging open. Close parentheses.
- 33:47Speaker 13: Never say die.
- 33:48Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, that soundtrack was pretty awesome.
- 33:50Speaker 1: 80s epic.
- 34:06Speaker 25: We'll be right back. And ocean of eternity Between my
- 34:34Speaker 25: hopes and dreams.
- 34:35Speaker 5: Never say die Iron Eagle Nothing's forever Now or ever.
- 34:41Speaker 25: Never say die Iron Eagle Never look back Never say die.
- 34:58Speaker 1: We'll try and bring.
- 34:59Speaker 16: The soul to the ground. The spirit remembers all my
- 35:03Speaker 16: magic sounds.
- 35:04Speaker 26: Against all odds, I'll come out on top.
- 35:08Speaker 5: Cause I never learned.
- 35:11Speaker 25: The meaning of what men sound.
- 35:14Speaker 5: There are walls and there are bridges. But no problems
- 35:18Speaker 5: when you're free.
- 35:20Speaker 25: And adventure path horizons.
- 35:27Speaker 5: Never say die.
- 35:30Speaker 16: I am evil Nothing forever Now.
- 35:32Speaker 5: Or ever Never say die I am evil Never look
- 35:38Speaker 5: back Never say die.
- 36:03Speaker 25: When you're free And adventure happens.
- 36:35Speaker 5: Bye. Bye.
- 36:37Speaker 1: Bye.
- 37:15Speaker 9: Thank you for your contribution. Do you want to talk
- 37:19Speaker 9: about the FAL and its origins?
- 37:22Speaker 1: What?
- 37:23Speaker 15: The FAL and its origins?
- 37:24Speaker 13: 308 Fabrique Nationale.
- 37:29Speaker 15: It's a Belgium assault rifle.
- 37:30Speaker 9: 308 caliber.
- 37:33Speaker 13: It's a nice assault rifle. It's got the nice wood grain. Yeah,
- 37:36Speaker 13: that's an old one too.
- 37:38Speaker 2: That's an old one.
- 37:40Speaker 1: So.
- 37:41Speaker 13: Has it got a compass in the stock and a
- 37:43Speaker 13: thing that knows time?
- 37:44Speaker 2: No, it doesn't. Oh, this thing's a rip off then.
- 37:48Speaker 13: Dennis Hopper's carrying it though. That does make it way cooler.
- 37:55Speaker 18: All right.
- 37:55Speaker 13: Well, thank you for your vinyl contributions to this crazy episode.
- 38:00Speaker 9: You're welcome.
- 38:03Speaker 1: Special.
- 38:05Speaker 2: Extra special.
- 38:07Speaker 13: Super special. Thank you for doing this remote segment here
- 38:10Speaker 13: at the Bastion.
- 38:11Speaker 18: Yeah.
- 38:26Speaker 14: Are those quotation marks like Around the whole song title
- 38:30Speaker 14: or just around Never Say Die?
- 38:33Speaker 13: Parentheses.
- 38:35Speaker 1: Oh, okay. Parentheses.
- 38:36Speaker 7: Or are there quotation marks around Die?
- 38:38Speaker 16: Never Say Die.
- 38:40Speaker 13: Actually, it's both. The whole thing has quotation marks. Never
- 38:44Speaker 13: Say Die is in parentheses.
- 38:46Speaker 14: Because that's supposed to be implied? Shh.
- 38:50Speaker 13: Don't ever tell anybody, but Never Say Die.
- 38:55Speaker 1: Shh.
- 38:56Speaker 13: You can tell them about Iron Eagles. That is not.
- 39:00Speaker 7: Yeah, we have shirts on sale.
- 39:03Speaker 13: Don't say that. Be sure to tell them about that.
- 39:07Speaker 12: Okay, so you've got the tail end of that. What
- 39:10Speaker 12: do you think of the bitchin' song from Iron Eagle?
- 39:14Speaker 14: Sounds like an 80s volleyball montage or kung fu.
- 39:17Speaker 7: Yeah, it's very you got the touch.
- 39:23Speaker 13: Another classic from a soundtrack.
- 39:25Speaker 1: Yes.
- 39:26Speaker 13: Where can we go from there? How about the first?
- 39:30Speaker 8: Back?
- 39:30Speaker 12: This again, it's, it's most of these I've picked up
- 39:33Speaker 12: in that last year or so, but there was one
- 39:36Speaker 12: I came across. Once again, I'm moving and shifting things
- 39:39Speaker 12: around and sifting through boxes of insane amounts of stuff.
- 39:43Speaker 13: And occasionally I come across something. I'm like, Hey, wait,
- 39:45Speaker 13: I need that.
- 39:46Speaker 12: So, Many, many years ago, I came across this in
- 39:50Speaker 12: a cutout bin. And this is the reason, I mean,
- 39:54Speaker 12: this is the reason that a show like this needs
- 39:57Speaker 12: to exist. Because this is the soundtrack for Where the
- 40:01Speaker 12: Buffalo Roam, which is the Hunter S. Thompson film that
- 40:05Speaker 12: starred Bill Murray long before Johnny Depp took over his life.
- 40:09Speaker 13: Bill Murray thought he was going to play him. This
- 40:13Speaker 13: movie did not go over well.
- 40:15Speaker 12: But interestingly enough, a good portion of this soundtrack is
- 40:19Speaker 12: original Neil Young stuff. A lot of which is taken
- 40:24Speaker 12: off of like where the buffalo roam, like the songs,
- 40:30Speaker 12: but he keeps Neil Young in it up and kind
- 40:32Speaker 12: of varies it his own weird way.
- 40:34Speaker 13: Because he's Neil Young.
- 40:37Speaker 12: And then there's a whole bunch of other very traditional
- 40:40Speaker 12: stuff that you're going to find on every other soundtrack.
- 40:42Speaker 12: You've got a couple of Jimi Hendrix songs.
- 40:46Speaker 13: You've got some four tops. So the rest of it's
- 40:48Speaker 13: pretty standard stuff.
- 40:49Speaker 12: I think it's those other songs that got him in
- 40:51Speaker 12: trouble because this that I'm holding right now is the
- 40:55Speaker 12: only way this has ever been released. In fact, when
- 40:59Speaker 12: they put it out, they only did a, I don't
- 41:01Speaker 12: think it's, it may not even be on DVD.
- 41:03Speaker 13: They put out a version of it on VHS. They
- 41:05Speaker 13: changed the music even on the VHS release because obviously
- 41:09Speaker 13: somebody screwed something up in the licensing.
- 41:12Speaker 12: So the only way that you can hear this stuff
- 41:15Speaker 12: in any form, probably, certainly not in.
- 41:17Speaker 13: Its entirety, is on this weird old cutout vinyl.
- 41:20Speaker 7: That I came across.
- 41:21Speaker 9: I think you have a rare find there.
- 41:23Speaker 13: That's what I'm saying. So now we can share this
- 41:26Speaker 13: on the show.
- 41:27Speaker 12: And you couldn't do that on DVD. I'm sure somebody's
- 41:30Speaker 12: added it to the internet out there. I'm not saying
- 41:32Speaker 12: it's impossible. But again, these are the kind of things
- 41:35Speaker 12: I wouldn't find just randomly searching Google. I found it
- 41:39Speaker 12: in my house and then checked into it and went, oh, wow,
- 41:42Speaker 12: this is really weird and we need to play it
- 41:44Speaker 12: on the show. So this one that we're going to
- 41:46Speaker 12: go with is one of the weird little snippets. Again,
- 41:49Speaker 12: it just kind of cuts in and out of these
- 41:52Speaker 12: things called Ode to Wild Bill. And this is Ode
- 41:56Speaker 12: to Wild Bill number one by Neil Young.
- 41:58Speaker 13: Ode to Wild Bill.
- 42:20Speaker 12: Yeah, just the fact that it never existed in any
- 42:29Speaker 12: other form so far. And probably won't, because why would
- 42:33Speaker 12: you bother to clear up the licensing for the music now?
- 42:35Speaker 12: Unless Criterion wants in on some of this and wants
- 42:39Speaker 12: to take out the bill.
- 42:40Speaker 13: I feel like it's probably not going to get a
- 42:43Speaker 13: big super release out of it.
- 42:46Speaker 12: But you also get weird stuff like this along the way.
- 43:19Speaker 5: Look for the girl, the sun.
- 43:23Speaker 18: In her eyes and she's gone.
- 43:26Speaker 5: Lost in the sky with diamonds. Because it's Bill Murray.
- 43:58Speaker 12: Again, where else are you going to get Bill Murray
- 44:00Speaker 12: doing his rendition of Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds?
- 44:03Speaker 14: The minor key, terrifying Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.
- 44:07Speaker 12: In his own weird, special Bill Murray way. How can
- 44:12Speaker 12: you not love Bill Murray? Insane as though he might be,
- 44:16Speaker 12: much like Dennis Hopper, but in his own special Bill
- 44:19Speaker 12: Murray way.
- 44:21Speaker 13: Magic Like That, this time around, has been brought to
- 44:25Speaker 13: you by Crosley Turntables.
- 44:27Speaker 12: Specifically that's actually the one that i used off of
- 44:31Speaker 12: that very record to get that weird song and um
- 44:35Speaker 12: so yeah if you don't have one and for some
- 44:37Speaker 12: reason you decide hey i want.
- 44:39Speaker 13: To go play a lot of weird records too go to.
- 44:42Speaker 12: Crossleyradio.com and if you get there's some low-end ones that
- 44:46Speaker 12: you just kind of listen to them but they're relatively
- 44:49Speaker 12: affordable And then you bump up to just kind of
- 44:51Speaker 12: the mid-level and it's got the USB port built in.
- 44:56Speaker 12: Put it right on this very computer in front of me.
- 44:59Speaker 12: It's a lot less painless than I expected. I was
- 45:01Speaker 12: kind of like, knowing this episode was coming up, I
- 45:04Speaker 12: was kind of dreading it because, again, I'm a sucker
- 45:07Speaker 12: for digital audio and it takes no work.
- 45:09Speaker 13: So I was just like, I'm going to have to
- 45:11Speaker 13: put the needle on the record. It's going to be
- 45:14Speaker 13: a lot of work.
- 45:16Speaker 7: Watch out for dust.
- 45:18Speaker 13: You do kind of have to do that.
- 45:20Speaker 12: But yeah, surprisingly painless. It hooked right into that free
- 45:26Speaker 12: audio software that you all probably have.
- 45:28Speaker 13: And yeah, it was really easy to do.
- 45:31Speaker 12: So yeah, this time more than any, I'll tell you,
- 45:35Speaker 12: go to crossleyradio.com and pick yourself up a turntable because,
- 45:40Speaker 12: you know, that's the way to do it.
- 45:41Speaker 13: If you want to listen to these circle disky things.
- 45:45Speaker 7: Forward slash Brian.
- 45:47Speaker 9: Forward slash Brian.
- 45:48Speaker 13: Email them and tell them that Brian at Movie Meltdown
- 45:50Speaker 13: sent you. Maybe they'll send you a sticker or something.
- 45:56Speaker 13: Don't count on it. Anyway, moving on. This is another
- 46:01Speaker 13: one that I'd seen.
- 46:02Speaker 12: It's one of those, if you hit just enough record stores,
- 46:06Speaker 12: there's ones that you kind of come across a lot.
- 46:09Speaker 13: Thank God It's Friday is just one of those.
- 46:12Speaker 12: And it's kind of one of those that I want
- 46:14Speaker 12: to do a whole separate episode.
- 46:16Speaker 13: On, so... heads up for a future episode because it's.
- 46:19Speaker 12: One of those things that they almost build the film
- 46:22Speaker 12: around the fact that they have a soundtrack with really
- 46:24Speaker 12: recognizable names this was 70 early 80s ish 78 i
- 46:31Speaker 12: believe so it's right at the end of it 70s
- 46:35Speaker 12: wise and then like 80s it was like a thing
- 46:38Speaker 12: like once especially once you get into like the mtv
- 46:41Speaker 12: era it's like There were so many that like on
- 46:44Speaker 12: the poster for the film, they advertise.
- 46:47Speaker 13: Who's on the soundtrack, which is a weird move. And
- 46:49Speaker 13: I feel like you wouldn't really see that now.
- 46:52Speaker 12: It was just like a marketing scheme that kicked in
- 46:54Speaker 12: late 70s into the 80s when it was like, hey,
- 46:57Speaker 12: and we have music too. And we spent most of
- 47:00Speaker 12: our money licensing these bands. So come buy our soundtrack
- 47:04Speaker 12: and see the movie too. Like it's almost like they
- 47:07Speaker 12: don't have any faith in the movie anymore. But we
- 47:09Speaker 12: spent a lot of money putting this soundtrack together, so
- 47:12Speaker 12: come check it out. So, yeah, this one features Diana Ross, Cameo,
- 47:18Speaker 12: The Commodores, Donna Summer, Thelma Houston, and the Wright Brothers
- 47:24Speaker 12: Flying Machine?
- 47:26Speaker 13: Anyway, if nothing else, first of all, it's two records.
- 47:31Speaker 13: It's fancy. Take a look at that picture up in
- 47:33Speaker 13: the corner there. Oh my goodness. Old Jeff. That is
- 47:41Speaker 13: a very young Jeff Goldblum.
- 47:43Speaker 14: Very attractive Jeff Goldblum.
- 47:45Speaker 13: He's giving you the eye, too. He's in the club.
- 47:47Speaker 13: He's putting the moves on the girls.
- 47:50Speaker 14: He's ordering a drink, it looks like, hopefully for me.
- 47:54Speaker 7: It looks like a $ 100 bill.
- 47:57Speaker 12: Well, I'm sure he's loaded with them. Owning a fancy
- 48:02Speaker 12: club that Donna Summer plays at. I mean, that's going
- 48:05Speaker 12: to happen.
- 48:06Speaker 14: Yeah, there are a lot of soundtracks nowadays. It's like
- 48:08Speaker 14: I wish they would advertise.
- 48:10Speaker 13: If it's like a.
- 48:11Speaker 14: Johnny Greenwood soundtrack or one that like, you know, for
- 48:15Speaker 14: the social network, like Nine Inch Nails or Trent Reznor.
- 48:19Speaker 16: Did that one.
- 48:19Speaker 14: It's like if you would advertise that, I would have
- 48:22Speaker 14: seen the movie a lot faster than.
- 48:24Speaker 12: A lot of them have like, they will almost do
- 48:27Speaker 12: like a concept album of like they'll bring in one actual,
- 48:30Speaker 12: like not even just. film score, but like singer-songwriter and
- 48:34Speaker 12: like this will be his new album and he'll do
- 48:36Speaker 12: every track on the album and it's more of a
- 48:38Speaker 12: themed album thing that they.
- 48:40Speaker 13: Also tie to the movie. But even those it's rare
- 48:43Speaker 13: that they advertise. So this was just such a weird era.
- 48:46Speaker 12: Of film marketing and soundtracks that at some point I
- 48:50Speaker 12: want to just focus on these weird movies. But this
- 48:55Speaker 12: time we're going to focus on the Commodores with a
- 48:59Speaker 12: little song called.
- 49:00Speaker 13: Too Hot to Trot.
- 49:02Speaker 7: T-A.
- 49:03Speaker 13: I swear to God, it's ranking way too good.
- 49:07Speaker 9: I can't make this shit up.
- 49:10Speaker 13: I can't make this shit up.
- 49:35Speaker 27: The things that you say That you love me, baby In.
- 49:43Speaker 16: The strangest way.
- 49:45Speaker 27: What you're doing to me, girl Is knocking me down
- 49:55Speaker 27: I can see right now that you're the best thing around.
- 50:02Speaker 22: Sweet pretty woman, I just want you to know.
- 50:07Speaker 24: That I love you.
- 50:08Speaker 5: Oh, I love you, love you, baby.
- 50:11Speaker 18: And it's been an hour.
- 50:15Speaker 5: And I want you, girl, I love you.
- 50:19Speaker 27: Oh, I love what you're doing to my sweet thing.
- 50:23Speaker 16: Oh, I love you through my sweet thing.
- 50:27Speaker 27: Well, you're too hot to try now, baby.
- 50:29Speaker 5: Well, you're too hot to stop. Woo, baby.
- 50:34Speaker 27: Well, you're too hot to try now, baby.
- 50:38Speaker 16: Well, you're too.
- 50:40Speaker 18: Hot to stop.
- 50:41Speaker 5: Woo, baby.
- 50:45Speaker 16: It's too hot to turn, baby.
- 51:23Speaker 27: Too hot to drive now, baby Well, you're too hot
- 51:36Speaker 27: to stop, you know Sweet, well, you're too hot to drive.
- 51:41Speaker 5: Now, baby Well, you're too hot to stop Too.
- 51:45Speaker 18: Hot to drive Too hot to drive Baby, to understand.
- 51:52Speaker 5: Oh, we thank, we thank.
- 51:55Speaker 16: Too hot to trust.
- 51:56Speaker 5: Too hot to trust. Baby, too hot to stop. Too
- 52:00Speaker 5: hot to trust.
- 52:03Speaker 18: Too hot to trust. Baby, too hot to stop.
- 52:07Speaker 13: Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom.
- 52:10Speaker 18: Too hot to trust.
- 52:11Speaker 5: Too hot to trust.
- 52:13Speaker 18: Baby, too hot to stop.
- 52:22Speaker 12: So yeah, it's also got the big last dance Donna
- 52:24Speaker 12: Summer version and this weird Frenchy version that's on its entire,
- 52:29Speaker 12: like one side of these is just that song. It's
- 52:32Speaker 12: some sort of limited edition single dance.
- 52:39Speaker 2: It's very strange.
- 52:40Speaker 13: I listen to that when it's very strange.
- 52:43Speaker 7: I love you. Not too much. It was the 70s.
- 52:52Speaker 13: I like you, but not that much.
- 52:56Speaker 7: I'll stand by this translation. I'm a little rusty.
- 52:58Speaker 13: But I love you, but not that much. Just enough
- 53:03Speaker 13: until I finish this drink, and then I'm moving on
- 53:05Speaker 13: to that girl. Said Jeff Goldblum.
- 53:10Speaker 12: This next one, again, and as I get into this,
- 53:15Speaker 12: I was like, I kind of have to keep looking
- 53:18Speaker 12: through Again, there's too many record stores out there, so
- 53:21Speaker 12: I don't have time to look through every bin. But
- 53:24Speaker 12: if I can find it where they've sectioned off the soundtracks, again,
- 53:27Speaker 12: I'm enough of a movie geek. I'm like, all right,
- 53:29Speaker 12: let's see what they got. So this is one of
- 53:31Speaker 12: those that like every once in a while I'll run
- 53:32Speaker 12: across one and I'm like, I need this almost because
- 53:36Speaker 12: I didn't know the movie existed before I found the
- 53:39Speaker 12: soundtrack to the movie. And again, geek that I am,
- 53:43Speaker 12: usually I at least know the titles. I know what
- 53:46Speaker 12: star has been in that. Even if I haven't seen
- 53:47Speaker 12: the movie, I'm enough of a geek to know that
- 53:49Speaker 12: it exists. But you get to, especially the older stuff,
- 53:51Speaker 12: I obviously don't know all of them. This would be
- 53:56Speaker 12: Your Cheating Heart, the Hank Williams story starring George Hamilton
- 54:02Speaker 12: as Hank Williams Sr.
- 54:03Speaker 13: mind you. But this is the weird part.
- 54:06Speaker 12: All these songs, this was done shortly after his death,
- 54:09Speaker 12: and all these songs are sung.
- 54:11Speaker 13: By Hank Williams Jr. Whoa.
- 54:15Speaker 12: So it's not like they just stole the original Hank
- 54:17Speaker 12: music and made George Hamilton mouth it. They totally re-recorded
- 54:22Speaker 12: all of Hank's senior songs with Jr., but even like
- 54:27Speaker 12: not get ready for some football era Jr. This was like, again,
- 54:30Speaker 12: shortly after he died. So this is like early.
- 54:33Speaker 13: Mid-60s, probably?
- 54:35Speaker 7: So it's like the country version of Zappa Does Zappa.
- 54:41Speaker 12: Yeah, like when Junior was still trying to be semi-serious,
- 54:45Speaker 12: and then he realized, oh, nobody's going to take me
- 54:47Speaker 12: seriously because I'm Junior, and I'm.
- 54:49Speaker 13: Always going to be in his shadow. And hey, look, Coke!
- 54:53Speaker 13: And then he decided he had a different direction for
- 54:57Speaker 13: his career. Get ready for some football. So this is
- 55:01Speaker 13: the title track, You're Cheatin'. No G, by the way.
- 55:05Speaker 13: Cheatin' Heart by Hank Williams.
- 55:10Speaker 5: Your cheatin' heart will make you weep.
- 55:26Speaker 24: You'll cry and cry and try to sleep. But sleep
- 55:37Speaker 24: won't come the whole night through. Your cheating heart will.
- 55:50Speaker 16: Tell from you.
- 55:54Speaker 20: When tears come down like falling.
- 56:00Speaker 10: Rain, you'll toss around.
- 56:08Speaker 16: And call my name.
- 56:12Speaker 24: You'll walk the floor the way I do. Your cheatin'
- 56:22Speaker 24: heart will tell on you When tears come down like
- 56:35Speaker 24: fallin' rain You'll talk around and call my name The
- 56:52Speaker 24: way I do Your cheatin' heart Will tell.
- 56:57Speaker 5: On you.
- 57:13Speaker 14: Yeah, he's not quite as, quite not as father.
- 57:15Speaker 12: Well, and again, I'm glad I found this. I'm glad I,
- 57:19Speaker 12: because I didn't know the movie existed. So now I
- 57:22Speaker 12: really want to go watch George Hamilton trying to play
- 57:25Speaker 12: Hank Williams. Talk about odd casting. So yeah, I haven't
- 57:29Speaker 12: seen the movie. Now I have to go see the movie.
- 57:31Speaker 12: But on top of that, I would have never sought
- 57:34Speaker 12: out early Hank Jr. probably because I'm so used to
- 57:37Speaker 12: his later stuff because I don't like his later stuff.
- 57:40Speaker 12: Cause I think Hank Williams is like a phenomenal songwriter
- 57:43Speaker 12: and like really did have a cool voice that like,
- 57:46Speaker 12: even if you're not into country, you can kind of
- 57:48Speaker 12: like acknowledge what he was doing was interesting.
- 57:52Speaker 13: And super influential.
- 57:53Speaker 12: And like everything about him was just sort of this
- 57:55Speaker 12: touchstone that everybody sort of ripped off for years to come.
- 57:58Speaker 14: Yeah. He's one of the greats.
- 58:00Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 58:00Speaker 13: For good reason.
- 58:01Speaker 12: Like he really was doing something different. And I think for,
- 58:05Speaker 12: it's really interesting to listen to his stuff too, because
- 58:08Speaker 12: for like, cowboy and he was still kind of selling
- 58:11Speaker 12: the tough guy scenario but his songs are so sad
- 58:16Speaker 12: like so gut-wrenchingly heartbreaking for as simple as they are
- 58:21Speaker 12: so many of them are really kind of honest and
- 58:26Speaker 12: i'm like you don't expect that out of tough guy
- 58:28Speaker 12: cowboy you know it's like you expect a little more
- 58:30Speaker 12: just kind of twangy singing about your horse sort of
- 58:33Speaker 12: thing that a lot of other guys did later but
- 58:36Speaker 12: i'm like his are brutally honest sometimes. And it's like,
- 58:39Speaker 12: I didn't, the more I got into, you know, senior,
- 58:42Speaker 12: I didn't expect that.
- 58:44Speaker 13: And now going into junior, there's, as you said, a
- 58:47Speaker 13: reason he lives in dead shadow. He doesn't have the voice.
- 58:49Speaker 12: Certainly not at this point. I don't know that it
- 58:51Speaker 12: ever got enough to fill his shoes, but it's also
- 58:56Speaker 12: to quote a great man from television, a.
- 58:59Speaker 13: Little pitchy dog, a little pitchy.
- 59:03Speaker 9: Just saying.
- 59:04Speaker 12: But I would have never known this existed without running
- 59:07Speaker 12: across that record right there.
- 59:10Speaker 13: And it odd timing because i didn't.
- 59:12Speaker 12: Know there ever was a hank williams movie so finding
- 59:15Speaker 12: that this year when we're about to have a new
- 59:18Speaker 12: hank williams biopic yeah the uh i saw the light
- 59:22Speaker 12: actually i think premiered already at toronto international film fest
- 59:27Speaker 12: and then um I think March of next year is
- 59:30Speaker 12: going to be wide.
- 59:31Speaker 7: Who plays Hank Williams in that film?
- 59:33Speaker 12: Tom Hiddleston, which we've discussed on previous Original Recipe episodes.
- 59:38Speaker 12: And some people, maybe someone who was on this episode earlier,
- 59:42Speaker 12: has a problem with Tom Hiddleston playing. Loves Tom Hiddleston,
- 59:44Speaker 12: but doesn't think it's, once again, doesn't think it's quite
- 59:48Speaker 12: right casting-wise to be Hank. Certainly Hank back in.
- 59:52Speaker 13: The old days.
- 59:53Speaker 16: I can see that.
- 59:55Speaker 14: He's kind of a pointy man.
- 59:57Speaker 13: Actually, the look isn't bad. Have you seen pictures of him?
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: No.
- 1:00:00Speaker 13: It's kind of frightening.
- 1:00:02Speaker 12: You can Google it up, and they do that generic
- 1:00:05Speaker 12: shot that they always do of Hank Senior, and then
- 1:00:08Speaker 12: they do Tom Hiddleston doing that pose. I didn't think
- 1:00:13Speaker 12: it was going to be close. It's frighteningly close. I
- 1:00:16Speaker 12: think it was more the singing that she had problems with.
- 1:00:19Speaker 14: I see.
- 1:00:19Speaker 12: He does not have the sound. Like, there's a very
- 1:00:22Speaker 12: specific sound. Once again, Junior doesn't even have it. There's
- 1:00:25Speaker 12: a very specific sound that Hank has. And Tom actually
- 1:00:28Speaker 12: has a better singing voice than... I mean, I didn't
- 1:00:30Speaker 12: know that he sang either way. But it's good, but
- 1:00:34Speaker 12: it's not.
- 1:00:35Speaker 13: The same thing that Hank Senior was doing. So it's
- 1:00:37Speaker 13: kind of.
- 1:00:38Speaker 14: It's hard to cast for voice.
- 1:00:39Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:00:40Speaker 12: Which, again, is usually, like, they'll just cop out and, like,
- 1:00:43Speaker 12: play the old stuff and have them lip sync it. But, like,
- 1:00:45Speaker 12: it's weird that in both of these, they didn't do that.
- 1:00:48Speaker 12: They had someone recreate the songs. Neither of them are
- 1:00:52Speaker 12: kind of measuring up, so.
- 1:00:55Speaker 14: Walking did the singing for Walking One, right?
- 1:00:58Speaker 13: I think so, yeah.
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:00:59Speaker 12: And it wasn't bad, really. I feel like it's easier
- 1:01:02Speaker 12: to capture Johnny. Like, Johnny is such a, not that
- 1:01:05Speaker 12: he's not amazing in his own right, but. I think
- 1:01:08Speaker 12: it's easier to kind of capture that thing that Johnny
- 1:01:10Speaker 12: was doing. It's harder with different artists.
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:01:15Speaker 13: So anyway, Hank.
- 1:01:18Speaker 8: Hank.
- 1:01:19Speaker 12: This is another random one. Had no idea there was
- 1:01:22Speaker 12: a movie called Hold On! Exclamation point.
- 1:01:26Speaker 13: Starring Herman's Hermits.
- 1:01:29Speaker 14: It just looks like it says, Hold on, Herman's Hermits.
- 1:01:32Speaker 13: Over here, really small, it says, Starring. I kind of
- 1:01:38Speaker 13: knew of Herman's Hermits. Didn't know tons of them.
- 1:01:43Speaker 12: In listening to that, I have listened to this whole album.
- 1:01:46Speaker 13: They're fun. I like them.
- 1:01:47Speaker 12: It really is that era of, man, the Beatles made
- 1:01:50Speaker 12: a lot of money. How can we get other bands
- 1:01:53Speaker 12: that are kind of sort of like the Beatles? And
- 1:01:55Speaker 12: that's kind of what this is. I think if I remember,
- 1:01:58Speaker 12: I checked into it and it's like, I think it
- 1:02:01Speaker 12: was after Hard Day's Night came out. And they made
- 1:02:04Speaker 12: so much money and actually had kind of critical acclaim
- 1:02:06Speaker 12: and fans went crazy. I think this was one of
- 1:02:09Speaker 12: those like either that or help might have followed it
- 1:02:13Speaker 12: up and they saw help and went, we want to
- 1:02:14Speaker 12: do something kind of like this. So they gave them
- 1:02:16Speaker 12: a movie. It makes no sense. I believe it involves
- 1:02:20Speaker 12: them going to the moon.
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: Sure.
- 1:02:23Speaker 5: Why not?
- 1:02:24Speaker 12: They've like been chosen. Like it's again, and I think
- 1:02:28Speaker 12: it's in England, which really makes no sense because were
- 1:02:30Speaker 12: they going to the moon? Or maybe they were importing
- 1:02:32Speaker 12: them to America.
- 1:02:33Speaker 13: I don't remember.
- 1:02:34Speaker 7: It's been a while since.
- 1:02:35Speaker 13: I checked into the plot.
- 1:02:36Speaker 12: But once again, if there's nothing else I'm taking from
- 1:02:39Speaker 12: this episode, it's like there's a.
- 1:02:40Speaker 13: Whole new list of movies I want to see. Because, yeah,
- 1:02:42Speaker 13: I think they.
- 1:02:43Speaker 12: Get recruited and they're doing a promo thing and they're
- 1:02:46Speaker 12: going to send somebody to the moon and it's Herman
- 1:02:49Speaker 12: and or his hermits?
- 1:02:50Speaker 13: I don't remember.
- 1:02:51Speaker 7: Is the guy on the back of the cover, is
- 1:02:53Speaker 7: that Herman?
- 1:02:54Speaker 13: I believe. If there is a Herman, he's definitely the
- 1:02:58Speaker 13: lead singer.
- 1:02:58Speaker 7: He looks like a Kennedy.
- 1:03:01Speaker 13: See, I was looking at him.
- 1:03:03Speaker 12: I'm like, they're definitely trying to kind of steal from
- 1:03:06Speaker 12: the popularity of the Beatles. I was like, he looks
- 1:03:08Speaker 12: more like a Mick without the lips. He's kind of
- 1:03:13Speaker 12: got more of a Mick Jagger look going. A very
- 1:03:16Speaker 12: toned down, not edgy, not drunk out of his mind Mick.
- 1:03:20Speaker 13: Wearing a suit.
- 1:03:21Speaker 12: Wearing a suit without the crazy lips. But between, he's
- 1:03:24Speaker 12: a little more Stones than Beatles.
- 1:03:27Speaker 13: Looks wise.
- 1:03:28Speaker 12: Sound, they're way more Beatle-y than Stones.
- 1:03:32Speaker 7: The mouth is purely Robert Kennedy. And that whole inbred
- 1:03:37Speaker 7: Massachusetts look.
- 1:03:38Speaker 12: Thankfully he doesn't talk with that weird accent the whole time.
- 1:03:42Speaker 12: They have their own British accent, but it's not the Kennedy.
- 1:03:47Speaker 12: You don't need to hear Kennedy singing.
- 1:03:49Speaker 14: I guess plot-wise they were just like, all right, we're
- 1:03:51Speaker 14: making a movie for this band.
- 1:03:53Speaker 24: Whatever.
- 1:03:55Speaker 14: Come on, writing team.
- 1:03:56Speaker 9: Let's do this.
- 1:03:57Speaker 13: Wait, there was a writing team?
- 1:04:00Speaker 12: But I do have to say I kind of liked,
- 1:04:02Speaker 12: especially the title track.
- 1:04:04Speaker 13: It's pretty fun. So let's get to it right now.
- 1:04:11Speaker 16: You've got a girl who really loves you.
- 1:04:13Speaker 5: She'll do anything you ask her to. Yet you treat
- 1:04:21Speaker 5: her wrong You just string her along Brother, if I
- 1:04:26Speaker 5: were in your shoes I would hold on, hold on,
- 1:04:30Speaker 5: hold on tight.
- 1:04:35Speaker 16: And make the whole world know she's mine I would hold.
- 1:04:37Speaker 18: On, hold on, with all my might.
- 1:04:42Speaker 4: A love like hers is very hard to find.
- 1:04:48Speaker 16: She does her best to make you happy.
- 1:04:51Speaker 18: She always does her very best.
- 1:04:53Speaker 16: You do your best to make her blue.
- 1:04:55Speaker 27: Buddy, you gossip me, but you'd rather go and play.
- 1:05:02Speaker 18: I know one thing for sure, if.
- 1:05:04Speaker 16: I were you, I would hold on, hold on, hold
- 1:05:10Speaker 16: on tight. And make the whole world know she's mine.
- 1:05:14Speaker 5: I would hold on, hold on With all my might.
- 1:05:20Speaker 16: A love like hers is very hard to find.
- 1:05:25Speaker 20: She's always there each time you need her.
- 1:05:30Speaker 16: She gives her love so willingly But.
- 1:05:34Speaker 5: You just don't care You know.
- 1:05:38Speaker 16: That she'll be there How I wish she felt that way.
- 1:05:42Speaker 5: About me I would hold on, hold on Hold on
- 1:05:47Speaker 5: tight And make the whole world know she's mine I
- 1:05:53Speaker 5: would hold on, hold on A.
- 1:05:56Speaker 16: Love like this is very hard to buy.
- 1:05:58Speaker 18: Hold on, hold on.
- 1:06:03Speaker 13: And yes, the aforementioned scratch ended up at the end
- 1:06:07Speaker 13: of that song. Again, that's what this final experience is
- 1:06:11Speaker 13: all about.
- 1:06:12Speaker 14: So no complaining.
- 1:06:13Speaker 12: Yeah, that's the way it came, and it's very minor,
- 1:06:17Speaker 12: but it's enough for me to go, oh yeah, records.
- 1:06:22Speaker 13: People love those things.
- 1:06:24Speaker 7: What a name for something that producers put money into.
- 1:06:28Speaker 12: Which hold on or herman's herman's either way somebody put
- 1:06:33Speaker 12: money into.
- 1:06:34Speaker 7: This sounds like there's a deadline for the title hold
- 1:06:36Speaker 7: on hold on yeah oh they already wrote that all
- 1:06:40Speaker 7: right fine go with it whatever close enough.
- 1:06:45Speaker 12: So next up i came across one that is i
- 1:06:48Speaker 12: i can't believe i haven't played it period on this
- 1:06:51Speaker 12: show it Should have been on my very first episode.
- 1:06:54Speaker 12: Somehow it slipped my mind because it's probably one of
- 1:06:57Speaker 12: my favorite songs.
- 1:06:58Speaker 13: I would say have to be one.
- 1:06:59Speaker 12: Of my favorite songs featured in a movie from a
- 1:07:02Speaker 12: soundtrack done specifically for that soundtrack. I think they're an
- 1:07:06Speaker 12: awesome band anyway. But Hazy Shade of Winter is one
- 1:07:10Speaker 12: of the coolest songs ever. Their version of it is
- 1:07:13Speaker 12: just kind of badass. Mostly that little guitar riff is awesome.
- 1:07:17Speaker 12: Now this, again, it was the 80s when Less Than
- 1:07:21Speaker 12: Zero came out. So this is the super dance party mixes.
- 1:07:27Speaker 12: So that's why I was like, well, anybody can listen
- 1:07:29Speaker 12: to the one on the soundtrack, but not everybody has
- 1:07:31Speaker 12: this giant single 12-inch mixes version that features the Purple
- 1:07:37Speaker 12: Haze mix.
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: Oh, my.
- 1:07:41Speaker 13: Which I believe we need to listen to right now.
- 1:07:53Speaker 18: We'll be right back.
- 1:08:31Speaker 8: Time, time, time to see what's become of me While
- 1:08:37Speaker 8: I looked around all my.
- 1:08:40Speaker 5: Possibilities I was so hard to please The ground.
- 1:08:48Speaker 8: Is a ground And the sky is a hazy shade
- 1:08:54Speaker 8: of winter Here's a salvation on the ground We'll be
- 1:08:56Speaker 8: right back. It's the springtime of my life. Seasons change,
- 1:09:37Speaker 8: but they soon repeat. Leaving time in a tempest dream.
- 1:09:46Speaker 5: Won't you stop and remember me?
- 1:10:13Speaker 8: We'll be right back. It's the springtime.
- 1:11:40Speaker 5: Of my life. Seasons change but they soon repeat.
- 1:11:47Speaker 8: Leaving time in a tapestry.
- 1:11:50Speaker 5: Won't you stop and remember me?
- 1:12:08Speaker 11: Look around, these are brown.
- 1:12:11Speaker 8: And the sky is a hazy shade of winter.
- 1:12:16Speaker 16: Look around, these are brown.
- 1:12:19Speaker 8: There's a patch of snow on the ground. Look around,
- 1:12:25Speaker 8: these are brown. There's a patch of snow on the ground.
- 1:12:35Speaker 12: It's just them screwing around way extra it has a
- 1:12:39Speaker 12: longer intro it does a weird little thing in the
- 1:12:42Speaker 12: middle like it just drags it out the way most
- 1:12:44Speaker 12: 12 inches do and yet it's kind of interesting because
- 1:12:48Speaker 12: there is sort of a different little loop that comes
- 1:12:50Speaker 12: into play in the middle so it's like I'm glad
- 1:12:53Speaker 12: I own it I'll stick with the original most of
- 1:12:56Speaker 12: the time but every once in a while I might
- 1:12:58Speaker 12: need to bust out some.
- 1:12:59Speaker 13: Purple Haze mix.
- 1:13:02Speaker 12: It's an interesting version If you need to look at
- 1:13:05Speaker 12: Andrew McCarthy, he's on the back.
- 1:13:07Speaker 15: I do.
- 1:13:08Speaker 13: Looking all 80s pretty.
- 1:13:09Speaker 14: Those pleated slacks.
- 1:13:13Speaker 7: And Robert De Niro's characters in the bushes.
- 1:13:16Speaker 13: Or Downey Jr. Oh, yeah.
- 1:13:19Speaker 7: Excuse me.
- 1:13:20Speaker 13: Who was playing someone crazy on drugs.
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: How?
- 1:13:24Speaker 13: How did he figure out how to do that? Robert
- 1:13:27Speaker 13: Downey Jr. in the 80s.
- 1:13:29Speaker 12: I mean, how would he know how to play a
- 1:13:31Speaker 12: character so crazy on drugs?
- 1:13:33Speaker 13: He's a good actor.
- 1:13:35Speaker 12: So next up is the only new, technically they're all
- 1:13:39Speaker 12: new to me, but new-ish. Again, I didn't go looking
- 1:13:43Speaker 12: for those trendy, they put everything on vinyl now, and
- 1:13:46Speaker 12: it's really expensive.
- 1:13:48Speaker 13: So I didn't go and.
- 1:13:49Speaker 12: Rebuy a bunch of soundtracks that are at that new
- 1:13:52Speaker 12: fancy clothing store that for some reason also has records.
- 1:13:56Speaker 12: But I did run across this one, which is Wanna
- 1:14:00Speaker 12: Fight from the Only God Forgives soundtrack. which if you
- 1:14:05Speaker 12: know Nicholas Winding Refn, he does his weird soundtracks with
- 1:14:09Speaker 12: this guy here, Cliff Martinez, which it's pretty interesting, the
- 1:14:14Speaker 12: original version, but this weird little seven-inch here also has
- 1:14:21Speaker 12: an alternate version that, again, I figured if we're doing
- 1:14:24Speaker 12: this episode, we'll give you a taste of what the
- 1:14:27Speaker 12: original one was.
- 1:14:40Speaker 18: So so.
- 1:15:06Speaker 12: Because this alternate version is an alternate version.
- 1:15:09Speaker 13: It is massively different. And I'm not sure how... Because.
- 1:15:14Speaker 12: Again, the first one goes with what all of his
- 1:15:16Speaker 12: other stuff, his other films, his other soundtracks that all
- 1:15:19Speaker 12: seem to star this one guy.
- 1:15:21Speaker 13: He's obsessed with him.
- 1:15:22Speaker 12: And this guy who composes these as well. Because that
- 1:15:25Speaker 12: sound is always in his movies as of recently. And
- 1:15:31Speaker 12: this alternate version is not the same at all.
- 1:15:55Speaker 18: Thank you. I'm sorry.
- 1:17:35Speaker 5: Thank you. Thank you.
- 1:18:49Speaker 9: You Is that a 7-inch?
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: Yeah. Nice.
- 1:19:07Speaker 13: Again, the only new fancy one I bought. I don't
- 1:19:11Speaker 13: plan on.
- 1:19:12Speaker 14: So it's just like the original version on one side
- 1:19:14Speaker 14: and then the.
- 1:19:15Speaker 12: And the alternate take on the other. So it's... I
- 1:19:19Speaker 12: figured if I was going to buy something new, I'm
- 1:19:21Speaker 12: not going to go.
- 1:19:22Speaker 13: Searching for most things.
- 1:19:23Speaker 12: But that was different enough to kind of work in
- 1:19:25Speaker 12: because there was something that wasn't just Available on the
- 1:19:28Speaker 12: regular old album. I thought it would just be buried
- 1:19:31Speaker 12: a little, but it's a whole other song. In a
- 1:19:34Speaker 12: very different mood.
- 1:19:36Speaker 14: Yeah, some weird sticks happening.
- 1:19:39Speaker 7: Yeah, usually when I see the parenthetical alternate take, particularly
- 1:19:46Speaker 7: in jazz records, It's just the same. The solo might
- 1:19:49Speaker 7: be a little different. You might hear someone cough.
- 1:19:52Speaker 13: At the beginning, they're like, you guys ready? So that's,
- 1:19:55Speaker 13: you know.
- 1:19:55Speaker 9: This is Oregon.
- 1:19:56Speaker 13: Straight up Oregon. It's very different.
- 1:19:58Speaker 14: Okay, so pretty much what happened is they couldn't pick
- 1:20:01Speaker 14: which synth sound they liked better. And so they were like, well,
- 1:20:04Speaker 14: let's keep both.
- 1:20:06Speaker 12: They were like, well, that first one sounds like what
- 1:20:08Speaker 12: everybody's going to expect because they all saw Drive.
- 1:20:11Speaker 13: Most people probably aren't going to see Only God Forgives,
- 1:20:13Speaker 13: which is probably true.
- 1:20:14Speaker 7: Let's do both. Let's put it on a seven inch.
- 1:20:16Speaker 12: Put it on a seven inch. So there's your alternate version, guys.
- 1:20:20Speaker 12: You don't necessarily have to buy that 7-inch now if you.
- 1:20:22Speaker 2: Don't want to.
- 1:20:23Speaker 12: All right, so to round things out here, another weird one,
- 1:20:27Speaker 12: another one that I knew of the movie, I didn't
- 1:20:30Speaker 12: know what I was getting myself into and didn't get it. Like,
- 1:20:33Speaker 12: this goes back VHS days, and I remember seeing this
- 1:20:38Speaker 12: video box.
- 1:20:40Speaker 13: A million times. I assume that's a horror movie, don't you?
- 1:20:44Speaker 19: Yeah, definitely.
- 1:20:45Speaker 13: Doesn't it look like a weird religious horror movie?
- 1:20:47Speaker 7: It does.
- 1:20:49Speaker 13: Brimstone.
- 1:20:51Speaker 12: It's Brimstone and Treacle, and I assume Sting is a priest,
- 1:20:56Speaker 12: and it takes place 100 years ago, 200 years ago.
- 1:21:00Speaker 12: I don't know, but he's involved in some sort of
- 1:21:03Speaker 12: creepy religious horror going on.
- 1:21:05Speaker 17: Yeah.
- 1:21:05Speaker 13: I love the exorcist because it's after the exorcist.
- 1:21:08Speaker 14: So they were like, how else can.
- 1:21:10Speaker 13: We get this going? And we got didn't home Elliot.
- 1:21:13Speaker 13: So that's awesome.
- 1:21:14Speaker 12: You know, we got Marcus. This is going to be great.
- 1:21:17Speaker 12: But then I, and again, I just assume that's what
- 1:21:19Speaker 12: it was for years. Never ended up renting it for
- 1:21:21Speaker 12: some reason. And just knew the cover. So this was again,
- 1:21:26Speaker 12: one of these last one. I think, I think I
- 1:21:28Speaker 12: found it at the same time when I found the
- 1:21:30Speaker 12: Marlene Dietrich one.
- 1:21:31Speaker 13: And both of these, I was like, okay, these are weird.
- 1:21:34Speaker 12: But then I got to this one, and I'm like,
- 1:21:35Speaker 12: original soundtrack album featuring The Police, Sting, Go-Go's, and Squeeze.
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: Huh. Okay.
- 1:21:43Speaker 13: I really didn't.
- 1:21:44Speaker 12: See the Go-Go's in this medieval, creepy, gothic cathedral that
- 1:21:50Speaker 12: I'm picturing all this religious horror going on in. Didn't
- 1:21:54Speaker 12: expect the Go-Go's to come busting out of the church,
- 1:21:56Speaker 12: but that's not at all what it is.
- 1:21:59Speaker 13: But is that not misleading cover art? I'm sorry.
- 1:22:02Speaker 7: Absolutely not.
- 1:22:03Speaker 12: It really is like a weird BBC production that got
- 1:22:06Speaker 12: turned into, it was like a 76 BBC television play.
- 1:22:12Speaker 12: And like, it got made that way and then put
- 1:22:15Speaker 12: on the back burner and they never even aired the
- 1:22:17Speaker 12: TV production years later. And like 82, they did this
- 1:22:21Speaker 12: version when people were like, Hey sting, he's a thing.
- 1:22:24Speaker 13: Let's make a movie.
- 1:22:25Speaker 12: So they got this done. It's like, modern day as
- 1:22:29Speaker 12: of 82. It's a middle class couple living in London.
- 1:22:33Speaker 12: There's a weird car accident.
- 1:22:35Speaker 13: I don't know. Again, it's not at all what I expected.
- 1:22:38Speaker 13: It's not horror. It's not gothic cathedrals. It's just disappointing.
- 1:22:43Speaker 15: I guess.
- 1:22:45Speaker 17: I don't know.
- 1:22:45Speaker 13: Again, one more for the list.
- 1:22:47Speaker 12: Now I'm going to have to watch it and figure
- 1:22:48Speaker 12: out why it's not horror because this is a great
- 1:22:50Speaker 12: horror poster right here.
- 1:22:52Speaker 13: It makes me think they're missing the point of their
- 1:22:55Speaker 13: own movie.
- 1:22:56Speaker 12: But I thought, again, going through, most of the other
- 1:23:00Speaker 12: things are just sort of stuff you've heard of from
- 1:23:03Speaker 12: those bands, and they're pretty good.
- 1:23:04Speaker 13: It's a squeeze song. Who doesn't like that?
- 1:23:06Speaker 12: But I'm like, if we're going to go out with something,
- 1:23:08Speaker 12: we'll go out with something a little upbeat. We played
- 1:23:10Speaker 12: some weird tracks on this one, and again, the dude
- 1:23:14Speaker 12: slapped on the front of it.
- 1:23:15Speaker 13: I guess we've got to play some Sting.
- 1:23:17Speaker 12: So this is Spread a Little Happiness, which is a
- 1:23:22Speaker 12: really cheery cover that you don't expect to be, even
- 1:23:25Speaker 12: in this movie about a hit-and-run accident. You wouldn't expect
- 1:23:28Speaker 12: this upbeat of a song, but I guess it works
- 1:23:31Speaker 12: in the confines of this movie.
- 1:23:34Speaker 13: So we'll go out on that.
- 1:23:35Speaker 12: But otherwise, that about does it for this final episode.
- 1:23:38Speaker 12: I'm assuming you guys have had a wonderful time.
- 1:23:42Speaker 24: Of course.
- 1:23:42Speaker 1: Oh, of course.
- 1:23:42Speaker 7: I thought you were talking to the audience.
- 1:23:43Speaker 16: Put the gun down, Brian.
- 1:23:45Speaker 5: They have too.
- 1:23:45Speaker 13: I mean, we've all had a wonderful time.
- 1:23:49Speaker 12: And I've already picked a couple of records to continue
- 1:23:53Speaker 12: this process. I've run across a few more since I
- 1:23:56Speaker 12: completed this lineup a while ago.
- 1:23:58Speaker 13: And now I've come across a couple more.
- 1:24:00Speaker 12: So I'm up for continuing this series. I guess email
- 1:24:06Speaker 12: me and let me know if you like it as
- 1:24:07Speaker 12: one big block.
- 1:24:09Speaker 13: If you like the whole episode to be vinyl, just
- 1:24:12Speaker 13: go with that. Or we could just make.
- 1:24:13Speaker 12: It an ongoing series that we revisit and drop a
- 1:24:16Speaker 12: song in to a normal episode.
- 1:24:18Speaker 1: So.
- 1:24:19Speaker 13: You let me know what you think is the way
- 1:24:21Speaker 13: to go with it.
- 1:24:22Speaker 14: Send a carrier pigeon if we're going with the vinyl thing.
- 1:24:25Speaker 14: Don't email.
- 1:24:26Speaker 13: One of those tubes that they used to use on
- 1:24:29Speaker 13: the old Edison players.
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:24:33Speaker 12: Send a sound tube with your message. Not a voicemail.
- 1:24:37Speaker 12: Please make a sound recording. Go to one of them
- 1:24:41Speaker 12: booths like Elvis did and make yourself a recording.
- 1:24:44Speaker 7: For 50 cents.
- 1:24:46Speaker 13: You too can be a rock star.
- 1:24:48Speaker 14: Don't they have those booths now where you can go
- 1:24:50Speaker 14: in and sing a karaoke song and then it spits
- 1:24:52Speaker 14: out the CD?
- 1:24:54Speaker 13: Probably.
- 1:24:55Speaker 7: I think Jack White's record shop, you can make a
- 1:24:59Speaker 7: 30 second or a minute long recording and then it's
- 1:25:03Speaker 7: pressed onto some vinyl or something.
- 1:25:07Speaker 13: Jack is a crazy vinyl person.
- 1:25:10Speaker 7: I didn't have enough information coming in.
- 1:25:12Speaker 12: The things that he did on that last album of
- 1:25:15Speaker 12: his on vinyl were insane. the weird hidden tracks and
- 1:25:19Speaker 12: places you could put the needle that you didn't know
- 1:25:21Speaker 12: you were supposed to put the needle.
- 1:25:23Speaker 13: And it's very strange what goes on.
- 1:25:26Speaker 12: So maybe you're that level of crazy vinyl and you
- 1:25:28Speaker 12: came to the right episode. So I'm glad you have
- 1:25:30Speaker 12: joined us. With that, I will remind you, Get a
- 1:25:33Speaker 12: Life will provide the soundtrack.
- 1:25:49Speaker 2: Even when the.

- 1:28:42Speaker 16: The darkest clouds Are in the sky You mustn't sigh

- 1:28:47Speaker 4: Cry Spread a little happiness.
- 1:28:50Speaker 5: As you go by.
- 1:29:05Speaker 9: I think he's done.
- 1:29:06Speaker 13: I think we're done. I have one more.
- 1:29:09Speaker 1: Uh-oh. Uh-oh.
- 1:29:12Speaker 13: You guys passed up the Falco album?
- 1:29:15Speaker 9: We're gone soundtracks.
- 1:29:16Speaker 5: Oh, soundtracks?
- 1:29:18Speaker 9: The Falco album was bought at the same time as
- 1:29:20Speaker 9: that Iron Eagle soundtrack, by the way.
- 1:29:22Speaker 13: Like, Rock Me On My Day as Falco?
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:29:26Speaker 2: I mean, I don't know that he has any other songs.
- 1:29:29Speaker 9: This is a whole album that has not that.
- 1:29:31Speaker 1: Song on it.
- 1:29:31Speaker 8: Oh, I've got a bunch of good albums.
- 1:29:33Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 1:29:36Speaker 9: I wish you all could hear him at the joy
- 1:29:38Speaker 9: and excitement of finding albums that he's had for years.
- 1:29:46Speaker 13: Which one?
- 1:29:47Speaker 9: Like a Virgin.
- 1:29:48Speaker 13: Oh, wow. I mean, that's the go-to. That's the one
- 1:29:52Speaker 13: kind of everybody probably had, but I think my La
- 1:29:56Speaker 13: Ista Bonita version is pretty.
- 1:29:59Speaker 13: Because it has weird remixes on it.
- 1:30:01Speaker 12: I think it was like a fill-in album just to
- 1:30:03Speaker 12: fulfill the contract that Sire or wherever she was at
- 1:30:06Speaker 12: at the time.
- 1:30:07Speaker 7: I'm surprised you guys didn't pick this one.
- 1:30:09Speaker 9: We're going for soundtracks.
- 1:30:10Speaker 21: I don't care if you're going for soundtracks or not.
- 1:30:13Speaker 17: I'm surprised you didn't pick this one up.
- 1:30:15Speaker 13: It's not a soundtrack.
- 1:30:17Speaker 9: He was there when you bought this.
- 1:30:18Speaker 1: I know.
- 1:30:19Speaker 13: But I didn't know if he remembered that I still
- 1:30:21Speaker 13: bought it. I remembered it.
- 1:30:22Speaker 9: I'm more surprised that you remembered that you bought it.
- 1:30:25Speaker 13: How could you not?
- 1:30:26Speaker 2: I mean, there's some stuff that I forget, but I
- 1:30:28Speaker 2: can't forget that.
- 1:30:31Speaker 13: Atari Baby.
- 1:30:32Speaker 1: Um....
- 1:30:34Speaker 13: She's the girl from Arcade Street. Sex bomb boogie. Ain't she,
- 1:30:40Speaker 13: ain't she, she, can she?
- 1:30:44Speaker 12: No, really.
- 1:30:45Speaker 13: There's she, she, there's three she's in a row. Ain't she, she, she,
- 1:30:49Speaker 13: can she?
- 1:30:50Speaker 12: There's four in that phrase, three in a row.
- 1:30:53Speaker 9: People are going to be confused if you don't tell
- 1:30:55Speaker 9: them who this band is.
- 1:30:56Speaker 2: Okay, go ahead.
- 1:30:58Speaker 9: Siggy, Siggy, Sputnik.
- 1:31:01Speaker 24: I think.
- 1:31:02Speaker 1: Siggy?
- 1:31:04Speaker 13: Is that how we're pronouncing this?
- 1:31:05Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:31:06Speaker 13: Sig Sig Sputnik with their album Flaunt It.
- 1:31:08Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:31:09Speaker 13: With giant robot battling action on the front here. I
- 1:31:13Speaker 13: don't even know what that band is. I really don't.
- 1:31:16Speaker 9: I don't consort with those other robot race.
- 1:31:18Speaker 13: They look like they want to be metal. But they
- 1:31:22Speaker 13: might be more of a... Yeah, they've got videos. They
- 1:31:24Speaker 13: might be more of a like dance poppy wannabe metal.
- 1:31:29Speaker 2: They're like glam pop.
- 1:31:30Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:31:32Speaker 2: But they're like.
- 1:31:32Speaker 13: They're... I think they're Japanese.
- 1:31:36Speaker 22: They're not Japanese, but they're like Americans playing in Japan,
- 1:31:40Speaker 22: I think.
- 1:31:41Speaker 9: I thought they were pretty Asian.
- 1:31:43Speaker 1: Are they?
- 1:31:43Speaker 15: They look, or at.
- 1:31:44Speaker 2: Least these guys look Asian. Okay, maybe they are.
- 1:31:46Speaker 13: Maybe it was something else. Maybe there's some other ones,
- 1:31:49Speaker 13: but I can't really tell.
- 1:31:51Speaker 2: Then they're Japanese.
- 1:31:53Speaker 13: I think they're Japanese.
- 1:31:53Speaker 1: Maybe not.
- 1:31:54Speaker 13: I can't decide.
- 1:31:56Speaker 8: I don't know.
- 1:31:59Speaker 6: Good luck.
- 1:31:59Speaker 18: It's all in Japanese.
- 1:32:02Speaker 13: What is wrong with people?
- 1:32:03Speaker 9: Sputnik City, 1990. The rulers of rock and roll devised
- 1:32:08Speaker 9: the ultimate plan. They would reshape the future by changing
- 1:32:11Speaker 9: the past. The plan required something that felt no pity,
- 1:32:15Speaker 9: no pain, no fear. Something unstoppable they created. Whatever the
- 1:32:20Speaker 9: name of the band.
- 1:32:24Speaker 1: Was.
- 1:32:26Speaker 13: I thought they had the list of the names on there.
- 1:32:28Speaker 2: It's got in the inside.
- 1:32:29Speaker 13: I'm pretty sure it's got the name. They're a little
- 1:32:31Speaker 13: like made up backstory for each person.
- 1:32:33Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 1:32:34Speaker 13: Good Lord. He was forged as the yellow robot. He
- 1:32:38Speaker 13: was forged in the fire.
- 1:32:40Speaker 19: He began life as a wrench in a blighted power
- 1:32:42Speaker 19: hungry land growing towards manhood complying with no one's rules
- 1:32:48Speaker 19: but his own. Born half-human and half-Sputnik.
- 1:32:54Speaker 9: And time factor Sigi. No authority could control his relentless
- 1:32:59Speaker 9: fight to be free or keep him from his ultimate destination.
- 1:33:03Speaker 19: Now, for the first time.
- 1:33:04Speaker 9: In the history of man, the Sputnik corpse proudly presents
- 1:33:07Speaker 9: the ultimate rock and roll superstar, Chris Cavanaugh.
- 1:33:11Speaker 12: He doesn't sound like a dorky white dude.
- 1:33:16Speaker 19: He's the whitest of the people I've ever seen.
- 1:33:19Speaker 9: Yana Yaya. I'm not really sure what the hell that is.
- 1:33:23Speaker 2: Not a made-up name.
- 1:33:24Speaker 9: Most definitely. Martin Dugville.
- 1:33:29Speaker 24: Tony James.
- 1:33:30Speaker 9: These are the whitest names I've ever heard.
- 1:33:31Speaker 13: See, I told you.
- 1:33:33Speaker 9: This is not at all a soundtrack. You have thrown
- 1:33:34Speaker 9: everything off kilter.
- 1:33:35Speaker 2: Well, this is the... I don't know what it is.
- 1:33:38Speaker 2: I'll go away.
- 1:33:39Speaker 13: This is Jay's bonus track right here.
- 1:33:41Speaker 5: I'll go away.
- 1:33:41Speaker 12: It's one of those at the end of the album,
- 1:33:43Speaker 12: it goes quiet for about 10 minutes, and then this
- 1:33:46Speaker 12: comes on, and you're like, dude, what?
- 1:33:47Speaker 13: What the fuck? What is going on here? Yeah, I'm
- 1:33:50Speaker 13: sure you can find one of these on... I think
- 1:33:54Speaker 13: 21st Century.
- 1:33:55Speaker 8: Boy you can find on YouTube.
- 1:34:01Speaker 13: Or maybe She's My Man. I'm not sure which one.
- 1:34:03Speaker 12: Isn't that an Amanda Bynes movie?
- 1:34:07Speaker 16: No, wait.
- 1:34:08Speaker 13: That's She's The Man.
- 1:34:11Speaker 9: We can make a whole segment just for this.
- 1:34:13Speaker 18: Look at his hair, though. I mean, look at that.
- 1:34:15Speaker 9: It's going to be like a special bonus feature.
- 1:34:17Speaker 13: Special, extra special bonus. He's like a vampire Billy Eilish.
- 1:34:23Speaker 1: Spike?
- 1:34:24Speaker 13: This guy looks like he's wearing somebody's panties on his head. See,
- 1:34:26Speaker 13: that's the first one I looked at.
- 1:34:27Speaker 16: He's wearing somebody's thong on his head.
- 1:34:30Speaker 13: Like, you're wearing that wrong, buddy. That's not how that
- 1:34:32Speaker 13: goes at all.
- 1:34:34Speaker 16: This is going to.
- 1:34:37Speaker 9: Be the tribute to Siggy Siggy Sputnik.
