- 0:00Speaker 1: Tampa Bay's best music is Magic, 94.9.
- 0:04Speaker 2: And welcome to another episode of Scotty and Abby Unfiltered.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Thank you so much for the ones that have been
- 0:08Speaker 2: starting to comment on the Spotify and right there. That
- 0:12Speaker 2: is really cool to see because now that we're reading
- 0:13Speaker 2: the comments, I see people commenting on the new episodes like,
- 0:16Speaker 2: oh my God, you read my message.
- 0:17Speaker 3: So shout out to you for getting in the conversation
- 0:19Speaker 3: as well.
- 0:19Speaker 2: And if there's anything that maybe you hear that you're like, wait,
- 0:21Speaker 2: I want to ask further questions on or want to
- 0:23Speaker 2: be a part of the conversation, I'm going to start
- 0:25Speaker 2: pulling those comments.
- 0:26Speaker 3: So hop up in there. Keyboard Warriors Unite. Anyway, Abby,
- 0:30Speaker 3: how are you?
- 0:30Speaker 1: I'm doing good.
- 0:31Speaker 2: How are you?
- 0:32Speaker 3: I'm okay. I'm okay.
- 0:33Speaker 2: Yeah. I think today was a weird one because of, one,
- 0:36Speaker 2: we talked a lot about Dolly Parton.
- 0:37Speaker 1: Yeah, I know. The world feels different. Dolly's gone.
- 0:40Speaker 2: I think what's weird, let's talk about just pop culture
- 0:43Speaker 2: for a second. Seeing that yesterday became a bigger eye-opener
- 0:49Speaker 2: that we're getting older.
- 0:51Speaker 3: Does that make sense?
- 0:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 0:52Speaker 4: It's always weird when people that have been around for
- 0:55Speaker 4: a while that you resonate with pass away. Mm-hmm. Like
- 0:58Speaker 4: when people your age pass away, like who just went
- 1:01Speaker 4: hated and panettiere? Like I loved Ice Princess growing up.
- 1:05Speaker 4: I watched the show Nashville. And I remember as a
- 1:09Speaker 4: younger kid watching her be a teenager and the fact
- 1:12Speaker 4: that she's gone because I think it's an overdose that
- 1:15Speaker 4: caused her passing.
- 1:16Speaker 1: It's just all these people passing away is just really weird.
- 1:19Speaker 1: It reminds you of your mortality.
- 1:21Speaker 2: Yes. I think that's exactly the feeling that I was
- 1:23Speaker 2: wrapping my head around yesterday.
- 1:24Speaker 3: I'm like, wow, like.
- 1:26Speaker 2: You know, it's one thing as, you know, obviously you're
- 1:29Speaker 2: going to lose people in life, but to have icons,
- 1:31Speaker 2: they feel invincible.
- 1:32Speaker 1: I know.
- 1:32Speaker 3: You watch them and you're like, no, no, not that.
- 1:35Speaker 3: And then it happens.
- 1:36Speaker 1: It's like Superman dying. It's like Superman doesn't die, like
- 1:39Speaker 1: Superman is Superman.
- 1:40Speaker 3: It's like they always come back.
- 1:41Speaker 2: Like you're waiting for the, because yesterday I was walking
- 1:43Speaker 2: in the hallway and we just got done with like
- 1:45Speaker 2: some meeting. We had somebody from way high up in
- 1:48Speaker 2: the company just walking out of the meeting of that.
- 1:50Speaker 3: And then our coworker, Drew Grabo, he's like, dude, did
- 1:53Speaker 3: you hear? I was like, what?
- 1:54Speaker 2: He's like.
- 1:55Speaker 3: Dolly Parton passed.
- 1:55Speaker 1: I was like, there's no way.
- 1:57Speaker 3: Like, in my head, I was, that's a fake headline.
- 2:00Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:01Speaker 3: There's no way. And obviously somebody made a mistake. Like,
- 2:04Speaker 3: she's going to be okay, right?
- 2:05Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:06Speaker 3: That's the hard reality.
- 2:07Speaker 4: I think it probably also doesn't feel real because we
- 2:09Speaker 4: didn't know anything was wrong. Like, I think it was,
- 2:11Speaker 4: we were talking about it today, how last week I
- 2:13Speaker 4: was like, well, her husband passed away. And I always
- 2:16Speaker 4: know when you have a husband or a wife and
- 2:19Speaker 4: you've been married for decades and decades and it was
- 2:22Speaker 4: a happy marriage, when that person goes, you typically pass. Mm-hmm.
- 2:25Speaker 1: That I kind of made that prediction.
- 2:26Speaker 4: I'm like, I'm a little bit worried about Dolly because
- 2:28Speaker 4: her husband passed away. But I didn't expect it to
- 2:31Speaker 4: be this week, yesterday. And by the way, we're recording
- 2:34Speaker 4: this on the 26th. So this would have been the 25th.
- 2:36Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:37Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:38Speaker 2: I mean, it's just I was wrapping my head around that.
- 2:42Speaker 2: And it is so true of what you say. Like
- 2:44Speaker 2: and I think about that, like when you find your person.
- 2:47Speaker 2: And you go through that much life. Like what you said,
- 2:49Speaker 2: like they were together for over 60 years.
- 2:51Speaker 4: Yeah, I think they literally got together when she was
- 2:53Speaker 4: maybe 20. I mean, I might be making up that number,
- 2:56Speaker 4: but I remember thinking she was really young. And they
- 2:59Speaker 4: got together, and she lived a very private life with him.
- 3:02Speaker 1: I know.
- 3:03Speaker 4: Because I didn't even realize, I'm like, Deli Porton's married?
- 3:05Speaker 4: And then I looked more into her story. I was like, oh,
- 3:06Speaker 4: she's been married to this guy for like 60 years.
- 3:07Speaker 4: But you just never see him. You never hear from him,
- 3:10Speaker 4: which I think is incredibly impressive considering what an icon
- 3:12Speaker 4: she is. And... Yeah, it's just very shocking. I think
- 3:17Speaker 4: it would feel more real if we knew something was wrong.
- 3:19Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:19Speaker 3: Oh, my God.
- 3:19Speaker 4: But yeah, the fact that it just like hit us
- 3:23Speaker 4: from just completely blindsided us.
- 3:25Speaker 2: Yeah, it's like we knew there was like a little
- 3:26Speaker 2: bit of a health thing because she had to like
- 3:28Speaker 2: cancel an event. But it's like, yeah, I mean, that's
- 3:29Speaker 2: what happens.
- 3:30Speaker 3: You're 80.
- 3:30Speaker 2: There's going to be a health thing that pops up.
- 3:32Speaker 2: But then all of a sudden be like and this.
- 3:35Speaker 1: And now she's gone.
- 3:36Speaker 3: That's really hard.
- 3:37Speaker 2: And so obviously there's a lot of us that are
- 3:39Speaker 2: just wrapping our head around that feeling because there's a
- 3:41Speaker 2: lot of complex emotions that go with that. One of
- 3:44Speaker 2: the things we talked about that I do truly love,
- 3:46Speaker 2: and I was thinking about all the cool things that
- 3:48Speaker 2: she did, is I love when a celebrity, and we
- 3:51Speaker 2: talked about this earlier, like she was not controversial. She
- 3:53Speaker 2: didn't ruffle feathers, but she left a legacy that was
- 3:57Speaker 2: bigger than herself that will continue to just be a
- 4:00Speaker 2: lesson for all of us if we truly want it
- 4:02Speaker 2: to be. And it's honestly, nowadays, it's kind of rare
- 4:05Speaker 2: to have somebody that big, that famous. have so many
- 4:08Speaker 2: little lessons about how to go about this life that
- 4:11Speaker 2: you don't need a lot of money to live by.
- 4:12Speaker 1: I know. She was, I mean, not Jesus, but Jesus adjacent.
- 4:18Speaker 3: She lived by the messages that she gave.
- 4:20Speaker 2: And so as you're wrapping your head around it, we
- 4:22Speaker 2: are too. And just sending a lot of love to
- 4:24Speaker 2: the Dolly Parton fans, the family. I thought what was
- 4:27Speaker 2: interesting is you saw the family that put out like
- 4:29Speaker 2: obviously a message. And I I was like kind of
- 4:32Speaker 2: taken back.
- 4:33Speaker 1: Some random man.
- 4:34Speaker 3: Yeah, I was like, who is this?
- 4:36Speaker 1: Who is this man?
- 4:37Speaker 2: And the fact that they obviously pre-recorded that on Dolly's permission.
- 4:42Speaker 3: That has to be weird.
- 4:43Speaker 4: Yeah, seeing a video that you know is going to
- 4:45Speaker 4: get released after you die is pretty wild. And also,
- 4:48Speaker 4: I mean, I know he has relation to the family,
- 4:50Speaker 4: but I remember seeing that and going, who is this man?
- 4:52Speaker 1: Why is he on Dolly's Instagram?
- 4:54Speaker 4: I'm like, I'm impressed that in 2026 they didn't get
- 4:57Speaker 4: AI Dolly or get a.
- 4:59Speaker 1: Video of her being like, hey guys, I'm gone.
- 5:02Speaker 3: But here's my message.
- 5:04Speaker 1: But here's my message.
- 5:05Speaker 2: I wouldn't actually, I would have liked maybe, and that
- 5:07Speaker 2: sounds weird, but like a recording of a message to her.
- 5:13Speaker 2: And obviously we don't need any of that, but it
- 5:16Speaker 2: is something to think about where it's like, here's my
- 5:18Speaker 2: message that I would want.
- 5:19Speaker 3: To send to my fans and to the world. As
- 5:23Speaker 3: I leave. Like one parting word.
- 5:24Speaker 1: It just doubles down the fact that she's gone.
- 5:26Speaker 4: Yeah. The fact that we didn't even hear from her.
- 5:28Speaker 4: It's just all of a sudden she's here. We knew
- 5:31Speaker 4: something was maybe amiss last week and all of a
- 5:33Speaker 4: sudden she's gone. And we, the last thing we heard
- 5:36Speaker 4: from her is, I don't know, maybe an interview somewhere.
- 5:39Speaker 2: Yeah. Just little interviews of how she would want her
- 5:41Speaker 2: legacy to be and just kind of casual. And it
- 5:44Speaker 2: just goes like, she obviously knew something was going on.
- 5:46Speaker 2: There's battles that she was facing. And I just, a
- 5:49Speaker 2: lot of love, a lot of love is again, another legend.
- 5:52Speaker 3: Has passed on.
- 5:53Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:55Speaker 2: One of the things I got yesterday from my family
- 5:57Speaker 2: in that same kind of conversation, which is morbid. I
- 6:00Speaker 2: was looking at my cousin's Instagram and I saw there's
- 6:02Speaker 2: a picture of my grandparents laying on the ground next
- 6:08Speaker 2: to their tombstone.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Oh, God.
- 6:10Speaker 3: That's literally my same exact phrase.
- 6:13Speaker 1: Like where they plan to be buried. Yes. Yeah, that's freaky.
- 6:16Speaker 2: I thought so, too. But they found it so funny.
- 6:19Speaker 2: So they have their tombstone already made. It has their
- 6:22Speaker 2: names on it. It has obviously their birth date.
- 6:24Speaker 3: There's no end date because they're still alive.
- 6:27Speaker 2: But there they are laying in front of it as
- 6:30Speaker 2: to where they will lay when they pass. And it
- 6:33Speaker 2: freaked me out to the point where I was like, okay,
- 6:36Speaker 2: there's too much morbidity.
- 6:39Speaker 3: If that's the word.
- 6:40Speaker 1: Morbidity?
- 6:40Speaker 3: That's the one.
- 6:41Speaker 1: That doesn't sound right either.
- 6:42Speaker 2: You know, there's whatever. Dark things happening. I was like,
- 6:45Speaker 2: I'm calling immediately. And I haven't talked to my grandparents
- 6:48Speaker 2: in like seven months. I was like, I'm calling immediately,
- 6:50Speaker 2: getting y'all on the phone because this feels too morbid.
- 6:53Speaker 2: And they just laughed their butts off. They thought it
- 6:56Speaker 2: was the funniest thing.
- 6:57Speaker 3: Yeah, we're just getting ready, you know?
- 6:59Speaker 2: I was like, isn't it y'all's anniversary? They're like, oh,
- 7:01Speaker 2: we stopped counting. I was like, that's crazy. But it
- 7:04Speaker 2: also makes you think. I'm like, I wonder what that
- 7:06Speaker 2: would feel like. My grandma's 86. Grandpa's 85.
- 7:11Speaker 1: I'm pretty young.
- 7:12Speaker 3: That's pretty young. But at the same time, I mean.
- 7:17Speaker 3: What else do you do with your days? You're like,
- 7:18Speaker 3: I don't know. I talk to them. I'm like, what
- 7:20Speaker 3: have you all been doing?
- 7:21Speaker 4: Nothing. I do wonder what the age is where you
- 7:23Speaker 4: just give up, if that makes sense. Like, I wonder
- 7:26Speaker 4: if it's a post-retirement thing where you have a year
- 7:28Speaker 4: of fun, and then after that, you kind of don't
- 7:30Speaker 4: really care. Because we had an Uber driver over the
- 7:32Speaker 4: weekend on my Trampabay getaway trip, and we had this
- 7:36Speaker 4: driver take us to the boat. And this guy's maybe
- 7:38Speaker 4: in his 70s, and some girl was trying to make
- 7:41Speaker 4: small talk with him about his birthdays, and he's like, yeah,
- 7:43Speaker 4: I don't really need any more birthdays.
- 7:45Speaker 1: Oh, my God.
- 7:47Speaker 3: That's so morbid.
- 7:48Speaker 2: I know.
- 7:48Speaker 1: It was so sad. Honestly, I was like, oh, my God.
- 7:50Speaker 2: I think one of the things that obviously, like, I
- 7:53Speaker 2: know my family is, like, just so proud of and
- 7:55Speaker 2: it was so cool to see. Like, my grandparents love
- 7:57Speaker 2: that we have great grandchildren now. Like, my cousins have kids. Yeah.
- 8:00Speaker 3: And they live in the same, like, community. So they
- 8:03Speaker 3: get to see them all the time. That's cool.
- 8:06Speaker 2: Because I think about, like, when you get into that age,
- 8:08Speaker 2: you know, you travel way less. You've probably seen everything
- 8:11Speaker 2: you want to see. How many shows or things do
- 8:13Speaker 2: you still have on that to-do list? I don't know,
- 8:15Speaker 2: because in my head, I think about it. I'm like,
- 8:17Speaker 2: I will never run out of things that I want
- 8:19Speaker 2: to do in this life.
- 8:20Speaker 3: I think.
- 8:20Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 8:21Speaker 3: I mean, I don't know. Tell that to my 90
- 8:22Speaker 3: year old self. That's like I've literally done it all.
- 8:24Speaker 4: But maybe your brain changes to a point where your
- 8:26Speaker 4: brain starts to realize you don't have that many years left.
- 8:28Speaker 4: So it starts it stops making you want things.
- 8:32Speaker 2: This is such a morbid question. But if we could
- 8:35Speaker 2: go down this route for a second, do you ever.
- 8:40Speaker 2: How would you like to spend your last days?
- 8:43Speaker 1: How would I like to spend my life?
- 8:44Speaker 3: Because I think about it.
- 8:45Speaker 2: Like, I see there's sometimes these cruises that, like, obviously, like,
- 8:48Speaker 2: old people pass on cruises all the time, I've heard,
- 8:50Speaker 2: because they just get on and they just never get off.
- 8:53Speaker 2: And there's cruises that will just travel around the world.
- 8:55Speaker 2: And I think about, that's a kind of cool way
- 8:57Speaker 2: to go. Like, obviously, I don't want to, and again,
- 8:59Speaker 2: I've seen so many family members, like, obviously pass in hospitals.
- 9:04Speaker 2: They get sick, and that's obviously the last couple days. But, man,
- 9:07Speaker 2: if I could have a say in that last little bit,
- 9:09Speaker 2: I'm so curious on how these comments are going to go.
- 9:12Speaker 3: I would like to be on a cruise or, like,
- 9:13Speaker 3: on a beach somewhere. Like, wheel me out.
- 9:15Speaker 4: I don't know that I'd want to be that far
- 9:17Speaker 4: from home, though. Like, I don't like the idea of
- 9:20Speaker 4: somebody having to move my dead body back to Florida.
- 9:23Speaker 1: Yeah. Does that make sense?
- 9:24Speaker 3: Yeah, no, it does. That's why I ask.
- 9:26Speaker 1: Because I'm like, what if I don't make it? What
- 9:28Speaker 1: if someone loses me? Do you know what I mean?
- 9:30Speaker 3: That's so true. Like, they lose luggage. What are they
- 9:32Speaker 3: going to do with the body? Yeah.
- 9:33Speaker 1: I think I've always pictured either, like, a hospital or
- 9:36Speaker 1: my house. Do you know what I mean? Like, those
- 9:38Speaker 1: are the natural places you assume you and I.
- 9:39Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 9:40Speaker 1: Granted, you know, I could get shot tomorrow, but who knows?
- 9:43Speaker 1: God willing, that could be fun.
- 9:45Speaker 3: Oh, God, that'd be so bad.
- 9:47Speaker 1: I just don't want a headline. I don't want to
- 9:48Speaker 1: be a headline story.
- 9:50Speaker 4: That's the only thing I don't want for my death
- 9:52Speaker 4: is I don't want to be local radio host gets
- 9:55Speaker 4: hit by truck.
- 9:56Speaker 1: That's what I don't want.
- 9:57Speaker 3: I don't even know what to knock on That's horrible.
- 10:00Speaker 2: Actually, I like what's one of a weird fear that
- 10:02Speaker 2: has popped up for me recently has been like car accidents.
- 10:06Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 10:07Speaker 2: And I say that in that same tangent because we're
- 10:09Speaker 2: talking to friends over the weekend and they're telling me
- 10:12Speaker 2: this story about this wild car accident that their friends
- 10:16Speaker 2: went through. And I thought to myself, I'm like, and
- 10:19Speaker 2: it wasn't even their fault. Like there's like a car
- 10:21Speaker 2: in the middle of the road that was just stopped.
- 10:23Speaker 2: And in my head, all of a sudden, yeah, of course,
- 10:27Speaker 2: it's always a risk being on the roads. But I
- 10:29Speaker 2: was like, that is a moment that will forever change
- 10:31Speaker 2: your life. Boom.
- 10:32Speaker 3: One accident changes everything.
- 10:33Speaker 4: And it's funny because you don't really think about it
- 10:35Speaker 4: because every time I go to the airport, I go, God,
- 10:37Speaker 4: I hope I don't die in a plane crash today.
- 10:39Speaker 4: But I drive in my car every single day and
- 10:41Speaker 4: I never once think, I could get in an accident.
- 10:42Speaker 1: That could kill me.
- 10:44Speaker 2: You're just kind of banking on grace of luck. I
- 10:46Speaker 2: hope this doesn't go in a bad direction. And that's
- 10:49Speaker 2: really tough because I know this podcast is obviously listened
- 10:51Speaker 2: to by a ton of you.
- 10:52Speaker 1: And your cars.
- 10:53Speaker 3: And your cars.
- 10:54Speaker 1: Drive safe. Keep both hands on the wheel.
- 10:57Speaker 2: And also, I'm sorry if that brings up any hard
- 10:59Speaker 2: feelings or realities.
- 11:01Speaker 3: That's really tough.
- 11:01Speaker 4: I'll put a content warning at the beginning.
- 11:03Speaker 3: Yeah, it's one of those.
- 11:04Speaker 2: Things that's like, you don't think about it until these moments.
- 11:08Speaker 2: I think That's what I'm learning as I'm getting older
- 11:10Speaker 2: is now, you know, it's not like we're old. But
- 11:13Speaker 2: now those little thoughts of like, oh, wait, I'm not
- 11:15Speaker 2: invincible start to pop into my head. Yeah.
- 11:17Speaker 3: Like what could happen? I don't know. I hope nothing.
- 11:20Speaker 3: But you literally don't know what tomorrow brings.
- 11:21Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:22Speaker 4: But I'd like to think if you if you want
- 11:23Speaker 4: to continue doing things, that's a sign that you have.
- 11:26Speaker 1: Years to do it. Yeah, I would say so.
- 11:29Speaker 4: I'm not saying that's always the case because did I
- 11:30Speaker 4: ever tell you that Sidney Toll died? That girl that
- 11:32Speaker 4: I kept bringing up, the girl who was diagnosed with cancer?
- 11:35Speaker 3: I think you did, yeah.
- 11:35Speaker 4: Yeah, she's so young. I think she was like 26
- 11:37Speaker 4: or 27. That was really tough for me to see.
- 11:40Speaker 4: I got that headline and it said Sidney Toll has
- 11:41Speaker 4: passed away. I was like, oh my God, I've been
- 11:43Speaker 4: following her for so long. And I could just tell.
- 11:46Speaker 4: I remember she got a diet or she did some
- 11:50Speaker 4: kind of clinical trial. And I'm sorry, kind of not
- 11:54Speaker 4: in advance, whatever the opposite of in advance is, laterally.
- 11:57Speaker 4: that this is such a depressing podcast. But I remember
- 12:01Speaker 4: seeing a video where she was doing this new trial
- 12:05Speaker 4: and somebody mixed up her records with somebody else.
- 12:10Speaker 1: And they said, congrats, you're cancer free.
- 12:12Speaker 3: Can you imagine?
- 12:13Speaker 4: And so she posts this video being like, oh my God,
- 12:15Speaker 4: the trial worked. I'm cancer free.
- 12:18Speaker 1: Wrong files.
- 12:19Speaker 4: And not only was she not cancer free, but it
- 12:21Speaker 4: had gotten worse. And there was something in.
- 12:23Speaker 1: My gut that said, this is a really bad sign.
- 12:27Speaker 2: You know, it's like what makes it even harder is
- 12:30Speaker 2: now you've you've lifted my spirit up and you give
- 12:34Speaker 2: me false hope.
- 12:34Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 12:35Speaker 3: The fall from it is even harder. Like that's how
- 12:37Speaker 3: it was. Oh, my God.
- 12:39Speaker 2: Like the craziest year of my life. Like in 2020,
- 12:40Speaker 2: I was dealing with loss everywhere. But I remember like
- 12:43Speaker 2: literally what a sad episode.
- 12:46Speaker 3: Oh, my God.
- 12:47Speaker 1: This is what happens in Delipart and dies. I know.
- 12:48Speaker 3: I think you get like, I don't know, perspective. It
- 12:52Speaker 3: gives you just time to reflect.
- 12:54Speaker 2: And I remember when my mom passed, it was crazy.
- 12:57Speaker 2: Trying to wrap my head around that. And we went
- 12:59Speaker 2: down to go.
- 13:00Speaker 3: See my grandma. Didn't even know my grandma was sick.
- 13:04Speaker 3: Literally had no idea. It was Thanksgiving. We get down there.
- 13:08Speaker 3: We just find out she's sick. She's in the hospital.
- 13:10Speaker 3: We're like, weird. Out of nowhere. Within a month, gone.
- 13:14Speaker 4: Do you think she felt okay to pass because your
- 13:16Speaker 4: mom had passed? Kind of in the same vein as
- 13:19Speaker 4: people who are married when their partner passes. She's like, well,
- 13:22Speaker 4: if my daughter's not here, I don't want to be here.
- 13:24Speaker 3: Well, that's where it's tough because it wasn't my mom's mom.
- 13:26Speaker 3: It was my dad's mom.
- 13:27Speaker 1: Well, then that makes no sense.
- 13:28Speaker 2: Well, I mean, I think what's crazy is I think
- 13:31Speaker 2: back to that time period, and I remember, like, my
- 13:33Speaker 2: grandma and I were close, but not, like, super close,
- 13:36Speaker 2: you know?
- 13:37Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 13:37Speaker 3: Like, we didn't talk every day and stuff like that.
- 13:38Speaker 2: But when my mom passed, we got a lot closer.
- 13:41Speaker 2: You know, she was such a person I could lean
- 13:43Speaker 2: on for that month before Thanksgiving. And I remember, like,
- 13:46Speaker 2: what a weird thing. Like, things kind of lined up. Like,
- 13:49Speaker 2: we got closer.
- 13:50Speaker 3: Conversations got way deeper. And then Thanksgiving hit and I
- 13:54Speaker 3: was like, boom, boom. Like a month, bam, bam. I
- 13:56Speaker 3: was like, what the heck?
- 13:58Speaker 2: And I don't know, you could kind of focus on
- 14:00Speaker 2: wherever you wanted to go. Like in my head, the
- 14:02Speaker 2: way I made grace with it was I needed to
- 14:04Speaker 2: have her there to be somebody that I could lean
- 14:07Speaker 2: on to help me close a little bit of that
- 14:10Speaker 2: grief and then she could go. But it was just
- 14:13Speaker 2: the fact that we didn't know. It was the fact
- 14:15Speaker 2: that like nobody knew she was sick. I don't know,
- 14:17Speaker 2: maybe somebody did. Maybe my aunt or my dad did.
- 14:20Speaker 2: And then, Nothing.
- 14:22Speaker 3: Boom. It's like, that was the last time. It's just
- 14:24Speaker 3: crazy for me. Like it's how quick it could happen.
- 14:27Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 14:27Speaker 1: Like somebody is here and then all of a sudden
- 14:28Speaker 1: they're not.
- 14:29Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 14:29Speaker 1: It's freaky.
- 14:30Speaker 3: You just never know. And I think that's why I
- 14:32Speaker 3: started making calls yesterday. I was like, I don't know.
- 14:33Speaker 3: And I don't want to.
- 14:35Speaker 2: Have all of a sudden the call of like, okay,
- 14:38Speaker 2: you got to make the drive up here. You know,
- 14:39Speaker 2: got to have the conversation that somebody's passed without having
- 14:43Speaker 2: that last conversation.
- 14:44Speaker 3: Yeah. That's so hard. And I think that's a lesson
- 14:46Speaker 3: I learned.
- 14:46Speaker 2: Anytime somebody super important in our lives goes, It just
- 14:51Speaker 2: puts that perspective in my mind of like, reach out.
- 14:54Speaker 3: Don't delay the conversation that you've been waiting to have. Exactly.
- 14:57Speaker 1: And I think.
- 14:59Speaker 4: My dad's parents are experiencing this because remember back in April,
- 15:02Speaker 4: I had to cancel my Charleston trip because they're like,
- 15:04Speaker 4: your grandma's going to die.
- 15:05Speaker 1: Spoiler alert, she's still here. Murphy jeans are literally insane.
- 15:08Speaker 3: You guys are going to live forever.
- 15:09Speaker 4: No, somebody's going to need to hit me with a
- 15:10Speaker 4: car because otherwise I'm never going to die. But my
- 15:15Speaker 4: dad's dad was going through that and being like, there's
- 15:17Speaker 4: just so much we should have done or could have done.
- 15:19Speaker 4: And in a really morbid way, because my grandparents are very,
- 15:22Speaker 4: very old, they're in their mid-90s maybe, late 90s, I
- 15:26Speaker 4: remember thinking, well, if my grandma passes away, my dad's mom,
- 15:30Speaker 4: my grandfather can come to my brother's wedding, and these
- 15:35Speaker 4: are things he could have done if she did pass.
- 15:39Speaker 4: But then it was also sad in the sense that, like,
- 15:40Speaker 4: if she passes, he's got, like, a year probably, because
- 15:43Speaker 4: they were so in love that I feel like, it
- 15:47Speaker 4: would almost be a good thing for her to pass
- 15:48Speaker 4: so he can start to experience life because you only
- 15:51Speaker 4: have so much time to get to experience your family.
- 15:53Speaker 4: And it seems like he was harboring a ton of regret.
- 15:56Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 15:57Speaker 2: I mean, I think for them, I think there's different
- 16:00Speaker 2: perspectives of like the family obviously wants to be around
- 16:05Speaker 2: the older family members where it's like the older family members.
- 16:10Speaker 2: It's different for everybody's family, but I think they'd rather
- 16:12Speaker 2: be next to that person. That they actually started the
- 16:15Speaker 2: family with. Yeah. They're like, I'm not going to travel. Like,
- 16:17Speaker 2: I love you, but I'm not going to leave my
- 16:19Speaker 2: partner's side. And if I could, it's so hard to,
- 16:22Speaker 2: but if I put myself in those shoes, like, I
- 16:24Speaker 2: would completely understand.
- 16:25Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 16:25Speaker 3: It's like, I would do the same thing. I'd stay
- 16:26Speaker 3: right there. I'm not leaving. What the heck? How could
- 16:29Speaker 3: I leave when I've been by your side for this
- 16:31Speaker 3: entire lifetime?
- 16:32Speaker 1: Exactly.
- 16:33Speaker 3: Crazy.
- 16:34Speaker 2: Ugh.
- 16:34Speaker 1: Okay.
- 16:35Speaker 3: Is there anything happier we could bring down the track?
- 16:37Speaker 4: I don't really know if I got to be honest
- 16:38Speaker 4: with you. I'm going to go see Olivia Dean on Saturday.
- 16:41Speaker 2: I was looking at, like, my plans for Key West.
- 16:43Speaker 2: And I'm starting to finally get people that are like, yes,
- 16:46Speaker 2: I could go. Or, like, I had a couple buddies, like,
- 16:48Speaker 2: they've been off the job for a little bit. They
- 16:49Speaker 2: got let go, and they just got one.
- 16:51Speaker 3: So I'm like, sweet.
- 16:52Speaker 2: What I did decide to do, and they don't listen
- 16:54Speaker 2: to this podcast, I'll just let the fam know. You
- 16:56Speaker 2: told me how, like, you know, you should pay for
- 16:58Speaker 2: the whole thing. I didn't do that, but I did take.
- 17:00Speaker 3: Half of it.
- 17:01Speaker 1: I was like, all right.
- 17:01Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:02Speaker 1: So people are coming now.
- 17:03Speaker 3: So people are coming now.
- 17:04Speaker 1: Wow.
- 17:04Speaker 2: Because I was like, I just don't want it to
- 17:05Speaker 2: be something that somebody's held up on. Because I had
- 17:08Speaker 2: to pay half of it already.
- 17:10Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 17:10Speaker 3: And so that payment's already done.
- 17:11Speaker 2: So.
- 17:13Speaker 3: As I look at my accounts, I'm like, that's fine.
- 17:15Speaker 2: I'd rather just have the one, like the other half
- 17:18Speaker 2: of the payment, everybody could split, which is way cheaper
- 17:21Speaker 2: for them if that means more people could go.
- 17:23Speaker 4: I think that's kind of how I feel with things
- 17:25Speaker 4: like a bachelorette trip or a birthday trip where if
- 17:28Speaker 4: you want people to come celebrate you, I do think
- 17:30Speaker 4: you need to take the brunt of the cost. And
- 17:33Speaker 4: I think it's really sweet when people do want to
- 17:35Speaker 4: treat you or maybe if it's like just enough to
- 17:37Speaker 4: where it feels like a birthday gift, I think that's fair.
- 17:39Speaker 4: But I mean, I've been invited on birthday trips where
- 17:41Speaker 4: I'm like, this is going to be like a thousand
- 17:43Speaker 4: dollars for me to go when it's a four hundred
- 17:45Speaker 4: dollar airfare and then it's a three hundred dollar hotel
- 17:50Speaker 4: and then it's three hundred dollars for food and Bev.
- 17:53Speaker 4: And then I'm like, this is tons of money that. respectfully,
- 17:57Speaker 4: I would rather spend on a cruise for, for my
- 17:59Speaker 4: own vacation or whatever. And so I always think it's
- 18:02Speaker 4: really sweet when people want to contribute, but I also
- 18:04Speaker 4: think like, it's only fair for you to take the
- 18:06Speaker 4: brunt of it.
- 18:06Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 18:07Speaker 3: I think that's acceptable.
- 18:08Speaker 2: Like that's when I started thinking about it, I was like, yeah,
- 18:10Speaker 2: a lot of these guys are traveling across the country.
- 18:12Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 18:12Speaker 2: It's like you said, that airfare, that's no joke. That's
- 18:14Speaker 2: an extra like 400 bucks.
- 18:16Speaker 1: It's a ton of money and it's different.
- 18:17Speaker 4: You know, I don't know if people are going to
- 18:18Speaker 4: drive to Key West, if maybe that's easy for them,
- 18:21Speaker 4: but if you've got to fly, I mean, That's 400
- 18:23Speaker 4: bucks right there.
- 18:24Speaker 3: Just to get down.
- 18:26Speaker 4: And for some people, that's no money at all. But
- 18:27Speaker 4: for some people, I mean, that's like half their rent.
- 18:30Speaker 3: Exactly.
- 18:31Speaker 2: And I think that's what's, you know, this time period,
- 18:33Speaker 2: like we're around 30. So it's some people, you know,
- 18:36Speaker 2: are making more than others. Some people are progressing in
- 18:39Speaker 2: their career. Some people are just getting started in their career.
- 18:41Speaker 2: And I think in this chapter, that's understandable to really
- 18:45Speaker 2: help out where you can. And I'm sure it's going
- 18:47Speaker 2: to look different in 10 years where it's like, yeah,
- 18:49Speaker 2: like if you want to do a trip altogether, well,
- 18:51Speaker 2: you're everyone's probably going to be able to carry their
- 18:53Speaker 2: own weight.
- 18:54Speaker 3: I can only assume.
- 18:55Speaker 2: And what I will take from this moving forward is
- 18:59Speaker 2: obviously being the planner of the friend group now, I guess,
- 19:02Speaker 2: if I do something for the entire group next year
- 19:04Speaker 2: and it's just a trip for everyone, then I'm not
- 19:07Speaker 2: paying half of it because it's not for like a birthday.
- 19:09Speaker 2: That's an everybody trip. If you want to go, then
- 19:11Speaker 2: you are agreeing to pay this price.
- 19:13Speaker 1: Exactly.
- 19:14Speaker 3: That makes a lot more sense. So that's cool.
- 19:16Speaker 2: So Olivia Dean over the weekend, popping in 24 hours,
- 19:18Speaker 2: and then right after.
- 19:20Speaker 1: Right after finally going to Italy. Very excited. The trip
- 19:23Speaker 1: that is allegedly happening.
- 19:24Speaker 3: Allegedly.
- 19:25Speaker 4: Because, you know, I've been saying for the last year
- 19:27Speaker 4: that it's this thing in my head that doesn't feel
- 19:29Speaker 4: real because I planned it while also sort of going
- 19:32Speaker 4: through unemployment and starting a new job. So just life
- 19:36Speaker 4: in general feels different and weird and that I just
- 19:40Speaker 4: can't conceptualize that I'm going to be spending a week
- 19:43Speaker 4: in a.
- 19:43Speaker 1: Beautiful place with really great people. Like in my mind,
- 19:45Speaker 1: I'm like, that's not like a thing that's happening.
- 19:47Speaker 3: Yeah, it doesn't feel real.
- 19:48Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:48Speaker 4: And so I guess that means that's that's great. And
- 19:50Speaker 4: that you kind of go into things with no expectations.
- 19:53Speaker 4: Cause sometimes I get a gut feeling before a trip
- 19:55Speaker 4: about how it's going to go. And so it's kind
- 19:57Speaker 4: of nice that I don't have a gut feeling period.
- 19:59Speaker 4: And I'm just like, I'm just going to go. I'm
- 20:00Speaker 4: just going to Italy, and I have zero expectations.
- 20:02Speaker 3: And what a cool place to just go. I'm just
- 20:04Speaker 3: going to Italy.
- 20:05Speaker 1: Respectfully, I'm just going to Italy. And I hope everything
- 20:08Speaker 1: goes okay. I have a little bit of flight trauma
- 20:10Speaker 1: from my last big European trip.
- 20:11Speaker 3: I did remember seeing that.
- 20:12Speaker 4: That was heinous. That was literally one of the worst
- 20:15Speaker 4: days ever. And it ended up being fine. But, yeah,
- 20:18Speaker 4: hopefully it's okay this time around.
- 20:19Speaker 2: I've seen a couple people post online, like, the flight
- 20:21Speaker 2: situation that you went through. And this could just be
- 20:23Speaker 2: a quick tangent of, like, It's crazy how often it
- 20:28Speaker 2: happens with flights of, you know, I can't remember exactly
- 20:31Speaker 2: your situation, but I saw a guy yesterday talking and
- 20:33Speaker 2: this has happened to me. We're like, your plane has
- 20:36Speaker 2: a problem and it has to land before the city
- 20:38Speaker 2: it actually gets to. And then the team that's on it,
- 20:41Speaker 2: they time out. And so you're just stranded in a city.
- 20:43Speaker 2: And then all of a sudden you got to find
- 20:45Speaker 2: a way to get to your actual location. And for
- 20:47Speaker 2: a majority of it, like the airlines will just wear
- 20:49Speaker 2: you out before you like, you just kind of give up.
- 20:51Speaker 2: I did that with, you know, I don't know if
- 20:53Speaker 2: it's a problem to say, But it's the airline that
- 20:56Speaker 2: has the blue in the name. And I remember I
- 20:59Speaker 2: was trying to go back and forth.
- 21:01Speaker 3: With them forever.
- 21:01Speaker 2: And it's like they just wear you out in the
- 21:03Speaker 2: emails enough where you're like, you know what?
- 21:05Speaker 3: I'm just going to suck up this 200 bucks.
- 21:07Speaker 1: And they know you'll do it.
- 21:08Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 21:09Speaker 3: And it worked. And it just.
- 21:10Speaker 2: However, I will never go on that plane again. I
- 21:12Speaker 2: would rather walk before I get on that.
- 21:15Speaker 4: I will say that customer service line is really terrible.
- 21:17Speaker 4: I had an experience a couple of years ago with
- 21:19Speaker 4: them where they wanted to. charge me like quadruple just
- 21:22Speaker 4: to change my flight for a day. I did it
- 21:24Speaker 4: like ahead of time, the whole thing. And I was like,
- 21:25Speaker 4: are you kidding me?
- 21:26Speaker 1: This is ridiculous.
- 21:27Speaker 4: But yeah, I had some pretty crazy drama last time around.
- 21:29Speaker 4: Thank you Delta for making it right. Um, but yeah,
- 21:32Speaker 4: it was, I almost got stranded in the UK. I
- 21:34Speaker 4: was like, I'm an immigrant now.
- 21:35Speaker 1: I guess. Cause I was like, I don't know that
- 21:37Speaker 1: I can afford to get back home.
- 21:38Speaker 3: What would you do if you lived in another country?
- 21:40Speaker 3: Like for work?
- 21:41Speaker 2: Cause I always think every now and then I get
- 21:42Speaker 2: this little twinge. I'm like, What if I just dropped
- 21:44Speaker 2: everything and moved to Spain?
- 21:45Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't think I would like it. I think
- 21:47Speaker 4: it'd be fun for a summer. Like if you had
- 21:49Speaker 4: the kind of job where you could do it for
- 21:50Speaker 4: three months, but then come back home. But I don't
- 21:53Speaker 4: think I was born to be an expat.
- 21:54Speaker 1: Like I do feel very, I feel very American.
- 21:58Speaker 3: Yeah, that's true. Like, as I always like, I would
- 22:01Speaker 3: love that vision, but I'm like, what would I do? Like,
- 22:02Speaker 3: would I serve coffee? I work at a shop and
- 22:05Speaker 3: maybe it would be super fun.
- 22:06Speaker 2: Maybe I'd open my own, but I do feel like
- 22:08Speaker 2: living maybe just for a couple of months.
- 22:11Speaker 3: That would be dope.
- 22:11Speaker 4: Yeah, like one summer would be so cool. You make
- 22:13Speaker 4: some friends. You have some experiences. You get to really
- 22:16Speaker 4: soak in a city. But I think I would constantly
- 22:19Speaker 4: be like, I feel so far.
- 22:20Speaker 1: From everything I know.
- 22:21Speaker 2: That is wild to think, though, how many people have
- 22:23Speaker 2: done that here. Like it's like move over to America
- 22:25Speaker 2: and it's starting your whole life over.
- 22:27Speaker 4: But to be fair, I think the reason I like
- 22:29Speaker 4: America so much is it sort of feels like the
- 22:31Speaker 4: epicenter of everything, which is maybe like an American nationalist
- 22:34Speaker 4: thing to say.
- 22:35Speaker 1: People are like, okay, America's not the center of the universe.
- 22:37Speaker 1: But think about it.
- 22:38Speaker 4: Like America really controls a lot of shit. And I
- 22:41Speaker 4: kind of like being where the people are. You know,
- 22:43Speaker 4: there's a ton of people here. You can go from
- 22:45Speaker 4: state to state. There's just so many things that make
- 22:48Speaker 4: me proud to be an American and like just like
- 22:51Speaker 4: a very normal patriotic way, not like.
- 22:53Speaker 3: A crazy way. You're flying on an eagle.
- 22:55Speaker 4: Yeah, not like a nationalist kind of way, just more
- 22:58Speaker 4: of like I really like America and I like traveling
- 23:02Speaker 4: and I like experiencing other cultures. But I do at
- 23:04Speaker 4: the end of the day, like being American and being here.
- 23:08Speaker 2: Yeah, I think that's a good way to put it.
- 23:09Speaker 2: It's like literally where everybody comes. So it is a
- 23:11Speaker 2: melting pot of the world.
- 23:13Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 23:13Speaker 2: So you could literally get a little piece of the
- 23:14Speaker 2: world in different pockets of just America. Yeah. And then
- 23:17Speaker 2: go see the rest. When you go to Italy, what
- 23:19Speaker 2: is your itinerary? Because we just got an invitation for
- 23:22Speaker 2: a wedding in Italy next year.
- 23:23Speaker 4: Oh, fun.
- 23:24Speaker 1: Where's the wedding?
- 23:25Speaker 3: I think it's like in this crazy castle just outside
- 23:27Speaker 3: of Rome.
- 23:28Speaker 1: Okay. That'll be fun.
- 23:29Speaker 3: But then for the first.
- 23:30Speaker 2: Time ever, like getting to explore outside of Rome, like
- 23:33Speaker 2: I think I'm going to rent a car. Yeah.
- 23:34Speaker 1: In Italy.
- 23:35Speaker 3: I've never done that. I've never driven in a foreign country.
- 23:37Speaker 3: So I'm like, this is going to be crazy.
- 23:38Speaker 1: That will be scary.
- 23:39Speaker 4: You'll have to make sure that you can get an
- 23:40Speaker 4: automatic because sometimes they have the manuals.
- 23:42Speaker 2: Oh yeah.
- 23:43Speaker 1: It's like very common for people to use six shift
- 23:45Speaker 1: over there.
- 23:46Speaker 3: We'll have to figure that out. But where are you
- 23:48Speaker 3: all going? Like, what's the itinerary look like?
- 23:49Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 23:49Speaker 1: So we're going for a week in Sorrento. So I'm excited.
- 23:53Speaker 4: Last time around, we were bopping from city to city.
- 23:54Speaker 1: I'm like, this time around, I was like, less buses.
- 23:57Speaker 4: Yes.
- 23:57Speaker 1: Just let's just use one hotel. So we're staying in
- 24:00Speaker 1: the city of Sorrento, which is on the Amalfi Coast.
- 24:03Speaker 1: And what are we doing? I'm getting there a day
- 24:06Speaker 1: early just because if.
- 24:07Speaker 4: There's something that goes wrong with my flight, I want
- 24:08Speaker 4: to have, like, a day to kind of back everything up.
- 24:12Speaker 2: Mm-hmm.
- 24:12Speaker 1: So.
- 24:14Speaker 4: We'll be doing beach clubs. We're doing a boat trip
- 24:16Speaker 4: to Capri one day, which will be a lot of fun.
- 24:18Speaker 4: I'm looking forward to that. We're doing a pasta-making class
- 24:22Speaker 4: one day with a chef.
- 24:23Speaker 3: Oh, my gosh.
- 24:23Speaker 2: I know.
- 24:24Speaker 3: That's going to be cool.
- 24:25Speaker 4: I'm really looking forward to that. We're doing, like, a
- 24:26Speaker 4: day trip around the Amalfi, just, like, again, one bus.
- 24:29Speaker 1: A singular bus. Yeah, just one. And exploring Amalfi.
- 24:33Speaker 4: I think we might do a day trip to Positano
- 24:36Speaker 4: and some other small towns like Ravello.
- 24:38Speaker 1: And, yeah, I'm looking forward to it.
- 24:41Speaker 3: That sounds like a good itinerary.
- 24:42Speaker 2: It sounds like a lot less, like, busy movement where
- 24:45Speaker 2: you could actually enjoy the space.
- 24:47Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 24:48Speaker 4: I was like, I want people to feel like they're
- 24:49Speaker 4: on vacation. I think I got a lot of really
- 24:52Speaker 4: good feedback just from myself, but also from people in
- 24:56Speaker 4: general on the last big trip that we did. And
- 24:58Speaker 4: because I now have more freedom to pick companies to
- 25:03Speaker 4: work with, or if I can just plan them on
- 25:04Speaker 4: my own, I can give really specific feedback. Like some
- 25:08Speaker 4: of the things that I've learned on girls trips is
- 25:11Speaker 4: the biggest thing that will change the mood of an
- 25:13Speaker 4: entire trip is letting people sleep in. And the problem
- 25:16Speaker 4: is when you go through a company with pre-planned itineraries
- 25:20Speaker 4: is they kind of just make a general itinerary that's
- 25:23Speaker 4: going to fit the masses. And the girls that I
- 25:26Speaker 4: travel with really like to go out. And that's not
- 25:29Speaker 4: like a party, rage, unhealthy way, just more of like
- 25:32Speaker 4: these are usually single women, usually not always. Usually single
- 25:36Speaker 4: women that want to go out and mingle and experience nightlife.
- 25:39Speaker 4: And so when you're out until 3 a.m., the last
- 25:41Speaker 4: thing you want to do.
- 25:42Speaker 1: Is wake up at 9.
- 25:43Speaker 3: Oh, hell no.
- 25:44Speaker 4: Or wake up at 8 to do a tour. So
- 25:48Speaker 4: that's one thing I started implementing on the trips. And
- 25:50Speaker 4: I think it has made a huge difference in just
- 25:53Speaker 4: people getting to enjoy their time. So getting to sleep
- 25:57Speaker 4: in and organizing the trip so that there are activities
- 26:01Speaker 4: that are specifically designed to bring people together. Like the
- 26:04Speaker 4: cooking class is the first thing I wanted to do
- 26:05Speaker 4: because I'm like, there's nothing that's going to bring people
- 26:07Speaker 4: together more than some kind of shared activity, some good food,
- 26:11Speaker 4: some good wine, and then doing things that feel more
- 26:14Speaker 4: celebratory towards the end.
- 26:16Speaker 2: That's going to be so cool. I've seen the cooking
- 26:18Speaker 2: video classes, and they have a ton in Italy. And
- 26:20Speaker 2: I see this video every now and then where, like,
- 26:22Speaker 2: people just get lit. Oh, yeah.
- 26:24Speaker 4: The girls are going to get– the second day, too,
- 26:26Speaker 4: is always the most fun because it's the one where
- 26:29Speaker 4: you have enough energy to go out.
- 26:30Speaker 1: You know what bars or.
- 26:32Speaker 4: Whatever downtown you're going to enjoy going to because the
- 26:34Speaker 4: first night's always weird. That's the thing you also have
- 26:36Speaker 4: to remember is the first night is going to be
- 26:37Speaker 4: weird no matter what.
- 26:39Speaker 1: People are jet lagged. Nobody knows anybody. Nobody knows the
- 26:41Speaker 1: city that we're in. Nobody knows where to go.
- 26:43Speaker 4: And then the second day, it's kind of when I
- 26:45Speaker 4: feel like people kind of catch a little bit of.
- 26:49Speaker 1: They have some more energy to go.
- 26:50Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 26:50Speaker 3: Like a little rapport is now built in the group.
- 26:52Speaker 4: Yes. And then the third day is always the most
- 26:54Speaker 4: hungover day. People are usually like, OK, went way too hard.
- 26:57Speaker 4: So the third day can be a little bit weird, too.
- 26:59Speaker 4: And then fourth day, people like, OK, let's freaking go.
- 27:01Speaker 3: That's so cool.
- 27:02Speaker 2: It's cool that you've now like had it like mastered
- 27:04Speaker 2: down to you not only know what activities are good.
- 27:07Speaker 3: But even like you said, like the mood of people.
- 27:09Speaker 1: Yes.
- 27:09Speaker 3: It's so true.
- 27:10Speaker 2: Like because when you even if you're not going on
- 27:12Speaker 2: one of these getaway trips, but like the vacations alone,
- 27:15Speaker 2: we go to these places and I always say this.
- 27:18Speaker 3: We come back more tired than when we left.
- 27:20Speaker 2: I know.
- 27:20Speaker 4: And I don't want people to feel that way. Like
- 27:22Speaker 4: I don't necessarily I don't want people to be bored.
- 27:25Speaker 4: And I'm not saying that people aren't going to be
- 27:26Speaker 4: tired because you're probably going to be tired no matter
- 27:28Speaker 4: what because of traveling and everything. But one thing I
- 27:31Speaker 4: wanted to do as well on this trip was I
- 27:33Speaker 4: wanted to give people a free day to be like
- 27:35Speaker 4: whatever you want to do while you're here, either you
- 27:38Speaker 4: whether that be sleep in, or if you want to
- 27:40Speaker 4: explore a town outside of, um, Sorrento, I want you
- 27:43Speaker 4: to have the opportunity to do that too. So there's
- 27:45Speaker 4: like a break day in the middle, right before the
- 27:47Speaker 4: final day. So if you want to catch up on
- 27:49Speaker 4: some sleep and then you want to go out in
- 27:51Speaker 4: a big, like hurrah at the very, very end, you
- 27:52Speaker 4: can do that.
- 27:53Speaker 1: Um, we're doing that too.
- 27:55Speaker 3: That's really cool. That's smart.
- 27:56Speaker 2: I learned that on the last retreat, my quote unquote,
- 27:58Speaker 2: ayahuasca retreat, just yoga. But we went in to also
- 28:02Speaker 2: El Salvador and, And that was like the same kind
- 28:05Speaker 2: of schedule. It's like very easy morning. If you want
- 28:07Speaker 2: to get up and do yoga at seven, go ahead.
- 28:09Speaker 2: If you want to go out and just like have
- 28:11Speaker 2: a couple of drinks at night, go ahead. But it
- 28:13Speaker 2: was very open and there's like one or two activities
- 28:15Speaker 2: every day. And so actually with that same thing, Brianda,
- 28:19Speaker 2: my girlfriend and I decided that we signed up for
- 28:21Speaker 2: the next one.
- 28:22Speaker 3: Oh, nice. In January.
- 28:23Speaker 2: So we're going to go together to this yoga retreat.
- 28:26Speaker 2: And this time we'll be in Mexico.
- 28:27Speaker 1: Very fun.
- 28:28Speaker 3: So now we get to experience that whole thing where
- 28:30Speaker 3: it's For.
- 28:31Speaker 2: Some reason, it was such a beautiful experience of having
- 28:34Speaker 2: a more relaxed trip.
- 28:35Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 28:36Speaker 2: Because the activities that you did get to do were
- 28:39Speaker 2: way more intentional. You weren't just filling a calendar. And
- 28:42Speaker 2: so I learned more on that trip than probably 95%
- 28:46Speaker 2: of any other trips or conferences that I've gone to.
- 28:48Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 28:49Speaker 2: So that's actually really cool that you guys are getting
- 28:51Speaker 2: to do that experience. And it is less than two
- 28:52Speaker 2: weeks away.
- 28:53Speaker 1: I know.
- 28:53Speaker 4: I can't believe, like, literally, I leave next Friday. So,
- 28:57Speaker 4: I mean, it's not even, it's like a week and
- 28:59Speaker 4: a half.
- 28:59Speaker 3: Are you going to be on the show that Friday
- 29:01Speaker 3: or no?
- 29:01Speaker 4: No.
- 29:02Speaker 1: Nice. I know. I'll be on a plane, God willing,
- 29:04Speaker 1: as long as nothing goes wrong.
- 29:06Speaker 3: Nothing's going wrong.
- 29:07Speaker 2: I know.
- 29:07Speaker 4: This is your reminder to get trip insurance if you're
- 29:10Speaker 4: traveling anywhere with lots of flights because that's the other
- 29:12Speaker 4: thing that does suck about not living in Atlanta anymore
- 29:15Speaker 4: is I was like, oh, God, there was a great
- 29:16Speaker 4: direct flight to Naples right out of ETL.
- 29:19Speaker 1: So if that flight goes wrong, then you can find
- 29:20Speaker 1: another one. Where is this?
- 29:21Speaker 4: I'm like, oh, God, I hope my flight to JFK
- 29:23Speaker 4: doesn't get screwed up.
- 29:24Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't think anything is going to go wrong
- 29:25Speaker 3: this time.
- 29:26Speaker 2: I can only imagine because it's like, I feel like
- 29:28Speaker 2: we all have one or two super shitty travel experiences.
- 29:32Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 29:32Speaker 3: How many could life really throw at you? It can't
- 29:34Speaker 3: happen every time.
- 29:35Speaker 2: That's not, that's not what I'm saying. Well, if you know,
- 29:39Speaker 2: obviously as you're commenting on these podcasts and being a
- 29:42Speaker 2: part of it, there's going to be more like, I'm sure.
- 29:44Speaker 3: Is there already one in the works for after Italy?
- 29:48Speaker 1: So I had, I kind of revealed this to the girls.
- 29:51Speaker 4: I had plans to do a duo's trip to Quebec city,
- 29:53Speaker 4: but for some reason, my guts just saying this isn't
- 29:56Speaker 4: the right year.
- 29:56Speaker 1: Yeah. Um, So side note, if you hear this and
- 29:59Speaker 1: you're like, wait, no, I heard you talk about going
- 30:01Speaker 1: to Quebec City. I really wanted to do that.
- 30:02Speaker 4: I wanted to do a duo's trip, but I just
- 30:04Speaker 4: think this year got too busy to where I think
- 30:06Speaker 4: it would, I don't know that a lot of people
- 30:08Speaker 4: would sign up for it to where it would feel
- 30:10Speaker 4: like a big enough group trip for people to feel
- 30:14Speaker 4: like it was worth signing up for. I'm not talking
- 30:16Speaker 4: down on it.
- 30:17Speaker 1: Maybe it would.
- 30:17Speaker 4: So feel free to email me or whatever. And it
- 30:21Speaker 4: would be more expensive. So I'm like, maybe I need
- 30:22Speaker 4: to give more people time to think about it and
- 30:25Speaker 4: save for it.
- 30:25Speaker 1: So I might do it for next year.
- 30:27Speaker 4: But for next year, for the things that I definitely
- 30:30Speaker 4: think I'm going to do, I always do a Europe trip.
- 30:33Speaker 4: So I do think, well, I'm not going to give
- 30:36Speaker 4: away what's on my mind because I don't know if
- 30:38Speaker 4: people are sick of Europe yet.
- 30:39Speaker 1: Like, I don't know if people want to go to
- 30:40Speaker 1: like Japan or something.
- 30:42Speaker 3: Like that's even bigger.
- 30:44Speaker 1: It'd be a massive trip.
- 30:45Speaker 4: Um, so I'm considering Japan, maybe not for 2027, maybe
- 30:49Speaker 4: for 2028. There's one place in Europe I'm considering because
- 30:52Speaker 4: there's one place I want to go.
- 30:53Speaker 1: Um, respectfully, I do like going to Europe.
- 30:56Speaker 4: Um, And then I thought about doing a girls and
- 30:58Speaker 4: gays cruise for March. And then I definitely want to
- 31:03Speaker 4: try and do Nantucket. Nantucket, logistically, I'm trying to figure
- 31:06Speaker 4: out how to make that make sense because there's not
- 31:08Speaker 4: a lot of hotels that do queen queens.
- 31:11Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 31:11Speaker 1: It's a lot of like single beds.
- 31:13Speaker 4: And so- I don't want to have to like jack
- 31:15Speaker 4: up the price just because you can't share a room.
- 31:17Speaker 1: So I'm trying to figure all that stuff out.
- 31:18Speaker 3: Have you done a Charleston trip yet with the girls?
- 31:20Speaker 4: I tried planning Charleston this year and it didn't, I
- 31:23Speaker 4: just decided to cancel it because I was starting this
- 31:26Speaker 4: job and I was like, that's just respectfully like too much.
- 31:29Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 31:30Speaker 3: I just think cause he's like, he loved that city.
- 31:32Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 31:32Speaker 1: I love Charleston.
- 31:33Speaker 4: I was going to do Charleston, but there's somebody that
- 31:35Speaker 4: I'm thinking about working with. I was going to go
- 31:37Speaker 4: in March for food and wine. There's somebody that I
- 31:39Speaker 4: want to come on the trip and they don't want
- 31:42Speaker 4: to do Charleston.
- 31:43Speaker 3: Damn it.
- 31:44Speaker 4: Uh they didn't say that explicitly they just weren't excited
- 31:46Speaker 4: when i brought it up it's a feel and i
- 31:49Speaker 4: have been getting requests to do a cruise over and
- 31:52Speaker 4: over and over again yeah people have been begging me
- 31:54Speaker 4: to do an all-inclusive some kind of all-inclusive thing and
- 31:57Speaker 4: people have brought up cruises a lot um so i
- 31:59Speaker 4: was like well march makes sense for a cruise because
- 32:01Speaker 4: that's typically good weather so.
- 32:02Speaker 3: Yeah like a little spring break cruise.
- 32:04Speaker 4: Too yeah i know so girls and gays cruise maybe
- 32:06Speaker 4: that'll be happening 2027.
- 32:09Speaker 1: Girls and gays getaway.
- 32:10Speaker 2: Well, if you ever want to be a part of
- 32:12Speaker 2: those trips, I know there's more and more coming. So obviously,
- 32:15Speaker 2: I think, what's the Instagram?
- 32:16Speaker 3: Girls getaway?
- 32:16Speaker 1: At girlsgonegetaways.
- 32:19Speaker 3: Hit it up.
- 32:20Speaker 1: Follow it.
- 32:20Speaker 2: The pictures that you have from the last, the Trampa
- 32:22Speaker 2: Bay getaway looked a lot of fun.
- 32:24Speaker 1: It was a good time. 10 out of 10 I recommend.
- 32:26Speaker 2: Always subscribe, like, comment on the podcast, and we have
- 32:29Speaker 2: more coming. So thanks for being part of this, fam.
