SPEAKER_01: It started last week when I tasted some Mac salad that Zach brought back from Salem, Six Hours at the Glen.
• 0:09
SPEAKER_01: And as I'm eating it, I say, what?
• 0:12
  SPEAKER_01: This is off.
• 0:13
SPEAKER_01: Something's not right about this salad.
• 0:15
  SPEAKER_01: Yes.
• 0:15
SPEAKER_01: And I said, is that tuna?
• 0:19
  SPEAKER_01: Tuna?
• 0:19
  SPEAKER_01: And Mac salad?
• 0:20
SPEAKER_01: He goes, that's the only way to do it.
• 0:22
  SPEAKER_01: No.
• 0:23
  SPEAKER_01: No, no, no, no.
• 0:24
SPEAKER_00: Well, it's not the only way to do it, but I will say, okay, so for me, it started like this.
• 0:29
SPEAKER_00: I actually, I had to put this on my own personal Facebook because I have a lot of Buffalo people that, you know, are attached to it.
• 0:36
SPEAKER_00: So to me, I thought this was a very regional thing.
• 0:40
SPEAKER_00: I grew up in Buffalo and a lot of Max Salads had tuna in it.
• 0:46
SPEAKER_00: And it became, and then the question started last week: is this a regional thing?
• 0:50
SPEAKER_00: Like, do you go south of Pittsburgh and the tuna's gone?
• 0:53
SPEAKER_00: But we had some people all the way out to like Rhode Island that said, oh no, tuna was definitely a thing, but prevalent, prevalent around the Buffalo area.
• 1:01
SPEAKER_01: Yes, and it was so on Friday, we went up to Easter, which is outside of Buffalo, and telling his brother about it, and he was like, Oh my gosh, yeah, our max salad today has tuna in it.
• 1:13
SPEAKER_01: And it became the bit all weekend long because I said, This is atrocious to me.
• 1:19
SPEAKER_00: And Zach's if you grew up on it, you're like, all right.
• 1:22
SPEAKER_01: And Zach's all like, I was even questioning whether I was gonna share this with you because I love this max salad so much.
• 1:28
SPEAKER_01: I share it with you and you just poo-poo my max salad.
• 1:31
SPEAKER_01: I also created a meme over the weekend.
• 1:34
SPEAKER_01: You know those two people that got engaged on top of the Empire State building last Wednesday or Thursday.
• 1:49
SPEAKER_01: I said that's the hill that Scott Free is going to die on.
• 1:52
  SPEAKER_01: Yes.
• 1:53
SPEAKER_01: Well, the comments were great because then it became everything else.
• 1:58
SPEAKER_01: This one, imitation crab, is way better.
• 2:00
SPEAKER_01: Oh they have tiny cans of shrimp, and sometimes I use that instead of tuna.
• 2:05
SPEAKER_00: That would be a weird texture to me.
• 2:06
SPEAKER_01: Somebody else said, and add egg.
• 2:09
SPEAKER_00: Well, yes, I think that's part of it.
• 2:10
SPEAKER_00: Did you know my sister-in-law Paula?
• 2:12
SPEAKER_00: She messaged on my uh she put a post on mine.
• 2:15
SPEAKER_00: She puts pineapple, little pineapple chunks in hers, along with the tuna and the mac salad.
• 2:20
SPEAKER_00: She goes, her family loves it.
• 2:21
  SPEAKER_00: Delicious.
• 2:22
  SPEAKER_01: I'm like, whoa.
• 2:23
  SPEAKER_01: That sounds awful.
• 2:25
SPEAKER_01: Uh then Mandy also said tuna and shrimp.
• 2:28
SPEAKER_01: We also got grew up with tuna and mac salad.
• 2:30
SPEAKER_01: Can't stand it with tuna now, though.
• 2:33
  SPEAKER_01: Oh, that's interesting.
• 2:34
  SPEAKER_01: Mm-hmm.
• 2:35
SPEAKER_01: Uh, a lot of people said, agreed.
• 2:37
  SPEAKER_01: Uh, or and peas.
• 2:38
SPEAKER_01: Somebody else said that's my favorite.
• 2:40
SPEAKER_01: Somebody else said, and egg.
• 2:42
  SPEAKER_01: Gotta add egg.
• 2:43
SPEAKER_00: Well, yeah, but isn't that normally a part of it?
• 2:45
SPEAKER_00: So let me see here.
• 2:46
SPEAKER_00: Uh, this is uh some of my high school friends.
• 2:48
  SPEAKER_00: Uh, let's see.
• 2:49
SPEAKER_00: This one, she lives in Florida now, Cynthia Eckert.
• 2:52
SPEAKER_00: She goes, uh mine didn't have oh, she goes, uh, thumbs up on that.
• 2:56
SPEAKER_00: John, who I went to high school with, him too.
• 2:59
SPEAKER_00: A lot of thumbs up on mine.
• 3:01
SPEAKER_00: My cousin, she goes, no peas, for goodness sake.
• 3:04
  SPEAKER_00: I like it.
• 3:05
SPEAKER_00: She goes, but celery though.
• 3:06
SPEAKER_00: She said that celery and onions were in mine.
• 3:09
SPEAKER_00: And then there's my sister-in-law, my summer specialty.
• 3:12
SPEAKER_00: Uh, they have little pineapple tidbits in there.
• 3:15
  SPEAKER_00: Oh, wow.
• 3:16
SPEAKER_00: Um my god, even my old next-door neighbor that I grew up with.
• 3:19
SPEAKER_00: Mom made it every summer.
• 3:21
  SPEAKER_00: No peas, though.
• 3:22
  SPEAKER_00: Uh, let's see here.
• 3:23
SPEAKER_00: Um, probably the uh Hellman's recipe.
• 3:26
  SPEAKER_00: Probably.
• 3:27
SPEAKER_00: I thought this was so regional because again, you grew up in Cleveland, south of Pittsburgh.
• 3:32
SPEAKER_00: I'm like, does it just go away?
• 3:33
SPEAKER_01: I never like the tuna in there.
• 3:35
  SPEAKER_01: Never had it.
• 3:36
  SPEAKER_01: Here's why, because I like tuna.
• 3:37
  SPEAKER_01: I like Mac salad.
• 3:39
SPEAKER_01: But I think the tuna steals the show.
• 3:41
SPEAKER_00: Well, and there is a slightly different variance to the tuna max salad versus just an elbow macaroni, you know, like it drips off the spoon.
• 3:49
SPEAKER_00: The there's so much liquid to it.
• 3:51
SPEAKER_00: There, this is a I don't want to say drier, it's a thicker salad.
• 3:55
  SPEAKER_01: With the tuna?
• 3:56
  SPEAKER_00: Yes.
• 3:56
  SPEAKER_00: It's it's it's a thicker consistency.
• 4:00
SPEAKER_01: Well, yeah, because I mean there's more in it for sure.
• 4:02
  SPEAKER_01: Sure.
• 4:02
SPEAKER_01: But the one that Zach had me try, it was very mayonnaise.
• 4:06
  SPEAKER_01: It was very wet.
• 4:07
SPEAKER_01: It was, it was, I was not like, I wasn't like, oh my god, I need something to drink.
• 4:12
  SPEAKER_00: It wasn't dry.
• 4:13
  SPEAKER_00: It wasn't dry.
• 4:14
SPEAKER_00: It wasn't it was not dry.
• 4:16
SPEAKER_00: Now the real question is, what were we all thinking?
• 4:18
SPEAKER_00: Making a tuna max salad that, you know, could be in a cookout.
• 4:22
SPEAKER_00: Tuna, and it sits in the sun for six hours.
• 4:24
SPEAKER_01: Also, one of the stupidest things ever.
• 4:26
SPEAKER_00: That'll make your stomach crawl up inside somewhere.
• 4:28
SPEAKER_01: Every single time I would take a bite of like a deviled egg.
• 4:31
SPEAKER_01: Ellie, that has tuna in it.
• 4:32
SPEAKER_01: No, it better not have tuna in it.
• 4:34
SPEAKER_01: I do not need that much tuna.
• 4:36
  SPEAKER_01: Let's let's save tuna for, I don't know, a tuna salad.
• 4:39
SPEAKER_00: Well, I know this is not your thing.
• 4:41
SPEAKER_00: I'm just saying it is absolutely a thing.
• 4:44
SPEAKER_00: By the way, I am continuing now.
• 4:46
SPEAKER_00: I am now a summer salad whore officially.
• 4:48
  SPEAKER_00: Oh, yes.
• 4:49
SPEAKER_00: I am finished with hot dogs.
• 4:50
SPEAKER_00: I have reached we had to we had them last night.
• 4:53
  SPEAKER_00: We're not done.
• 4:53
  SPEAKER_00: I've reached my limit.
• 4:55
SPEAKER_00: I cannot touch a hot dog until August 15th.
• 4:57
SPEAKER_00: And then, you know, I've got to purge up.
• 4:59
SPEAKER_00: Well, we ended up going to Hornell on Saturday, did burgers, dogs, shrimp kebabs.
• 5:04
  SPEAKER_00: That was nice.
• 5:05
  SPEAKER_00: Ooh.
• 5:05
SPEAKER_00: And of course I had to eat two hot dogs.
• 5:07
SPEAKER_00: And that's where I realized I've got to stop myself.
• 5:10
SPEAKER_01: I can't believe that you had shrimp at a cookout with a lot of people because Oh, it wasn't that many people.
• 5:15
SPEAKER_00: It was just maybe eight of us.
• 5:17
  SPEAKER_01: Oh, okay.
• 5:18
SPEAKER_00: And of the eight, three of us might eat shrimp for.
• 5:21
  SPEAKER_01: Okay, because that's that's a very expensive meat.
• 5:23
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
• 5:24
SPEAKER_01: It was uh to have at a cookout because we were at a cookout with a ton of people, and that's one of those things that you only reserve for specials.
• 5:31
SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah, you gotta, yeah, you gotta plan on uh, you know that's for the small grouping.
• 5:35
SPEAKER_01: Also, I love this one.
• 5:36
  SPEAKER_01: Good everyone.
• 5:37
SPEAKER_01: You know what I love?
• 5:38
SPEAKER_01: Leftovers after a holiday like the fourth.
• 5:40
SPEAKER_01: No one's judging me while I'm eating baked beans and potato salad for breakfast.
• 5:44
SPEAKER_00: I am not judging you, and like I said, I'm now a salad whore.
• 5:47
SPEAKER_00: Now you make me think I should cut up a hot dog and put it on it.
• 5:49
  SPEAKER_00: Thanks.
