- 0:00Speaker 1: Mallorie. Thanks for holding you're on the air. Good morning, Hi,
- 0:03Speaker 1: good morning.
- 0:03Speaker 2: How is everybody great?
- 0:05Speaker 1: How are you?
- 0:07Speaker 2: I am doing fantastic. Thank you for asking. Please don't
- 0:12Speaker 2: think give me as a horrible person. Okay, but the
- 0:14Speaker 2: money was so good that I could not say no.
- 0:19Speaker 2: And here we go. Are you ready?
- 0:21Speaker 1: Yeah? All right?
- 0:23Speaker 2: So I work in corporate marketing and six months ago
- 0:27Speaker 2: I had this regional regional VP. It was this wealthy,
- 0:31Speaker 2: fifty five year old man. He started treating me very well.
- 0:34Speaker 2: And you know, you got to be careful these days. Okay,
- 0:37Speaker 2: sometimes it may come off as like, is he hitting
- 0:40Speaker 2: on me? Is he, you know, trying to get more
- 0:43Speaker 2: out of this than just a work relationship. But I
- 0:47Speaker 2: went along with it, you know, Like I said, the
- 0:49Speaker 2: money was really good, so I did not want to
- 0:51Speaker 2: pass up on this opportunity. He would take me to
- 0:55Speaker 2: executive lunches, he would assign me the lead accounts. I,
- 1:00Speaker 2: like I said, thought he was like trying to like
- 1:02Speaker 2: move me in to be something more than just an employee. Well,
- 1:09Speaker 2: I brought it up to my manager and she said
- 1:12Speaker 2: to me that he thinks that I'm actually his daughter.
- 1:20Speaker 2: I was completely you know, shocked. I didn't know what
- 1:25Speaker 2: she was talking about. She mentioned that it was probably
- 1:28Speaker 2: something from like a college relationship in Chicago. And this
- 1:33Speaker 2: is where it gets crazy. I actually grew up in
- 1:37Speaker 2: Chicago and his ex's name was Sarah. That's my mom's name.
- 1:45Speaker 2: And you know, three weeks later, he gave me a
- 1:48Speaker 2: promotion to senior director with a forty thousand dollars raise,
- 1:53Speaker 2: and he actually asked alongside that raise if I should
- 1:57Speaker 2: or if I could take a DNA test. And I'm
- 2:01Speaker 2: panicking because I don't know if like I should do that.
- 2:04Speaker 2: I don't want him to find out that like I,
- 2:06Speaker 2: you know, lied to him, or.
- 2:08Speaker 1: Well where did you lie to what part? Because you
- 2:10Speaker 1: just said you said that the mom was Sarah. You
- 2:12Speaker 1: said you're from Chicago. He's from Chica. Like we're like,
- 2:15Speaker 1: do you who's your dad?
- 2:19Speaker 2: No? I mean, like I I know that the man
- 2:22Speaker 2: that I was raised was to be my very biological father,
- 2:25Speaker 2: Like that man that I remember from my childhood up
- 2:28Speaker 2: until now, I know him to be my dad. So
- 2:31Speaker 2: instead of correcting the rumor with my boss, I just
- 2:35Speaker 2: stayed quiet and I let him, you know, treat me well.
- 2:38Speaker 2: I let him take me on these lunches.
- 2:43Speaker 1: Oh what if he is your dad? I'm saying.
- 2:45Speaker 2: I'm like, oh, you know, to be your dad? Yeah, like,
- 2:49Speaker 2: might not actually be your dad an actual DNA test.
- 2:51Speaker 2: I may say that maybe it was some funny business
- 2:53Speaker 2: back in the day, a sticky situation you're in, Mallory, Yeah, yeah,
- 2:58Speaker 2: but I give we're like Ignorance's bliss for her.
- 3:00Speaker 1: She knows her dad to be her dad, and the
- 3:02Speaker 1: boss thinks that that might be its daughter. So she's
- 3:05Speaker 1: getting treated treated well. Right, Well, he's also onto her
- 3:08Speaker 1: because now he's also like, how about you take a
- 3:10Speaker 1: DNA test? Like he you know, now he wants to
- 3:13Speaker 1: make sure I'm giving this girl a raise. I'm doing this,
- 3:15Speaker 1: I'm doing that. And now maybe he's like, let me
- 3:17Speaker 1: just make sure, right, because there must be a reason
- 3:20Speaker 1: he thinks you're his daughter.
- 3:22Speaker 2: I mean, I I think that there is maybe some similarities.
- 3:30Speaker 2: It don't look so much alike, but you know, sometimes
- 3:32Speaker 2: there's a mannerism he does that I happen to do.
- 3:35Speaker 2: But that's anybody. No, No, I know, I think that
- 3:40Speaker 2: your boss is your biological dad, and.
- 3:42Speaker 1: You know what you but think about this through his
- 3:44Speaker 1: point of view for a second. He's the boss of
- 3:46Speaker 1: this company. He hires somebody, he does his little research,
- 3:49Speaker 1: he finds out this might be my daughter. In the
- 3:52Speaker 1: HR world, he probably can't say, oh, my god, thinks
- 3:56Speaker 1: my daughter? Who's your mom? Like, do you know how
- 3:58Speaker 1: you can't even ask how old somebody is? Like he's
- 4:00Speaker 1: probably gonna bide. He wants to find out I think
- 4:02Speaker 1: this is my daughter. This is crazy. Well, he did
- 4:04Speaker 1: ask to take a DNA test, right, so he's asking questions.
- 4:09Speaker 2: I would put off that DNA test as long as
- 4:11Speaker 2: I possibly.
- 4:13Speaker 1: I don't think he's gonna take away your raise. So far,
- 4:15Speaker 1: so far, you start off by saying you're manipulating him.
- 4:18Speaker 1: So you were manipulating him if you know you knew
- 4:22Speaker 1: for sure, Like, I mean his the girl he was
- 4:24Speaker 1: hooked up with. Her name is Sarah. Your mom's name
- 4:26Speaker 1: is Sarah. He's from Chicago. You're from Chicago, Like there's
- 4:29Speaker 1: a lot of coincidences. If you're like, oh, I'm born
- 4:32Speaker 1: and raised in Malaysia and I know that I had
- 4:35Speaker 1: nothing to do with Chicago and you're playing it up
- 4:37Speaker 1: to him, then then yeah, you are manipulating him. But
- 4:39Speaker 1: so far, I don't, I mean, in your mind you are.
- 4:41Speaker 1: But in his mind, I don't think there's any manipulation.
- 4:44Speaker 1: He's thinking this might be my kid at any rate.
- 4:48Speaker 2: Yeah, I think that I wanted to know though, Like
- 4:53Speaker 2: should I should? I just do it? Because just do it?
- 4:56Speaker 1: Do it? Do it? Just find out that is your dad,
- 5:00Speaker 1: and then your moms would go WHOA Your father and
- 5:02Speaker 1: I were swingers back in the day. Yeah. Oh, you
- 5:07Speaker 1: went to a Chicago key party. You ever heard of
- 5:09Speaker 1: those peytents? No, you go to a party, everyone throws
- 5:12Speaker 1: her keys in a bucket and you pull out the keys.
- 5:13Speaker 2: Can't go anywhere.
- 5:14Speaker 1: No, you pull out the keys and whoevers keys? Those
- 5:16Speaker 1: are is who you hook up with. Oh.
- 5:18Speaker 2: I would not want to play that game.
- 5:19Speaker 1: I know that's why you're not her father. All right, Mallory,
- 5:23Speaker 1: good luck, let us know. Thanks for calling in. Yeah,
- 5:26Speaker 1: there's a there's a bunch of you. If we open
- 5:28Speaker 1: up the full lines to twenty three and med DNA test,
- 5:30Speaker 1: you'd we'll go sideways with people with their stories. Even
- 5:33Speaker 1: one of our bosses had that found out you had
- 5:35Speaker 1: like four or five brothers and sisters from Kentucky. It's unbelievable.
