  Start the show, boys.
• 0:13
[upbeat music] And just a couple days after show 32 and a half, the Funduro edition, here we are again. Yes... on the, on the radio thing.
• 0:27
No longer hungover from [laughs] the, the wash. That's your fault. I felt great. [laughs] It's the Full Spectrum Cycling thing with, uh, Sven, JK, and Tony here today. Hello, hello, hello.
• 0:41
I mean, not in the, "Oh my Lord, I'm hungover." I mean just the amount of activity. It was fun. No. There was a lot of activity. I thought I was, I was tired. Did you guys hit the- Definitely... ooh, the hot tub?
• 0:55
Oh, yeah. Yes. Yes. I totally hit that tub. That, that worked out. Yes, that was very nice. And the Olympic-sized pool. Yeah, and the smallest hot tub in the world. Yeah.
• 1:05
[laughs] There were actually people asking people to get out so they could get in. Well, they- Which I'm like, "They have a sign-up- They did have it feel a little-... they should have a sign-up sheet...
• 1:11
little high It was pretty high. You were high? And so was the hot tub. [laughs] Which was... That's, I mean, we, it was simpatico. Everything was working out.
• 1:21
It, it's the, uh, it's the wrap-up, uh, Funduro episode here of the Full Spectrum Cycling thing. Yes, as we're looking at the snow globe out the, uh- Yeah, it's quite the snow globe... day, day two of snow in Wisconsin.
• 1:35
Yeah. Didn't it snow... It was actually, it started to snow after we finished the podcast last week. That's sounds correct.
• 1:43
Yeah, so we've f- we've had two snowfalls since we've done the podcast last, not counting the half podcast. Right. Which was actually a long podcast, not half at all. Yeah, we got six inches in October.
• 1:54
That's more than normal. That's, that's pretty crazy. That's what she said. Hey, snow, that makes people start thinking about fat bikes at least. Yeah. Even though you can ride them all the time, just like we do. Yeah.
• 2:04
But i- People, a lot of people don't think about them until snow falls. Why do you got your snow bike out here in the middle of summer? Yep. Yeah.
• 2:11
You know, there were, uh- Because there's a lot of infrastructure problems, and fat bikes kinda can like burrow right on through that.
• 2:21
[clicks tongue] At the Funduro, there were several people I talked to who had ridden their bikes on the snow, but it was the first time they'd ever been on a beach. Really? Yes. Besides Molly. Yeah.
• 2:31
Well, you know, shout out to Molly for riding her first time- Uh, um-... on a fat bike. And she did it really well given how sl- how slushy or... What, how, what would you de- Quick, sandy... how would you classify that?
• 2:40
Yeah, there we go. Yeah, it was definitely- That sand was-... porous sand... yes, it was. Aeriated sand. Shout out to, uh, Donna for bringing the wrong bike and admitting it and turning around. Yeah.
• 2:50
That was not- And Kim... that was not the Krampus [laughs] day to ride. You should not have been on a Krampus. Oh, yeah, yeah. I saw the Krampus out there. I was like, "Hmm, curious." Not for very long. No. Oh, no doubt.
• 3:00
And Kim pulled up DFL on both of them. Nice. Yeah. Good for her. That was- Well, but she rode both of them, so that's good. Right. Exactly. That's one more than me- [laughs]... 'cause I hit the hot tub [laughs]
• 3:11
and drank beer. Yeah, that was a good thing. I just had to wait for- I would say, you know what? Wait for breakfast wine in the hot tub. Great hotel. Oh my Lord, yes.
• 3:20
And I, I thought, you know, and it's funny 'cause they asked me to review the hotel and I said, "You know, it was a fantastic time there, except for your Wi-Fi blows." Oh, yeah.
• 3:28
And then I got like an apology email today saying, "You know, we're really sorry that, you know, it didn't live up to your expectations." I'm like, "I gave you a great review." That's, yeah.
• 3:36
"It's just that I didn't have internet access for 24 hours." Internet sucked. And oh my God, I lived. Well, I was gonna use it for something during the- Right, I did mention... the show,
• 3:45
but, uh, that didn't work, and the DJ couldn't download Like a Virgin. Yeah. Yeah. [laughs] That's what I... That's actually when I like realized on the, uh- That was pretty epic...
• 3:57
on the, going like, "Oh, well, we can't get that." And oh, well. Well, it's just, uh, two months until the next one. Yeah. Yeah. I already made my reservations, so.
• 4:06
Well, that's a good idea 'cause it's Huge Ass and it's gonna be packed. Yeah, it probably will be. Oh, it is a- It's a Huge Ass race, so. Oh. That's gonna be- Well, is the Huge Ass races at on Saturday or Sunday? Hmm.
• 4:18
I don't know. You have the interwebs in front of you, and oddly enough, our internet connection's pretty darn good here. Yeah. That's, uh, hugeass.bike, by the way, folks.
• 4:28
[laughs] No, I think those are two different, yeah, days. It's also H-U-G-H- Right... A-S-S, not H-U-G-E. Huge, Huge Ass. Yeah.
• 4:39
Um, it is the, the 3rd through the 5th is the Fatter by the Lake weekend, and the race itself [yawning] That's him saying that, "I'm just being as proxy."
• 4:55
[laughs] And this is what we do. What we do, what we do. Why is that? And you're smiling. Oh, here we go. Chip butte is right in front of my face, so, uh- Huge butte... January 4th, which would be the,
• 5:13
must be the, uh, Saturday. So I ca- I wonder how many people are actually gonna stay there. I'm, I'm betting that the race people are- Hmm... the types that would not stay at the hotel. No.
• 5:22
They don't, well, they can barely stay on the damn course. [growls] Let me get in front of you. [growls] Let me get in front of you. [growls] All right, all right. Okay, I'm done. [growls] Why am I standing around?
• 5:33
[growls] I don't even wanna stand on the podium. [growls] I wanna get in my car. [growls] I'm getting the hell outta here. [laughs] I'm pretty sure- Okay, that's every race though...
• 5:40
that there were some people that were on this ride this last weekend that are also of that ilk. Oh, yeah. I, I, I could see- I guess there were... yeah, yeah. I could, I could, I could see some grinding teeth,
• 5:51
and it was like, "Oh." The pace is so slow. It's like, yeah. 'Cause we're having fun. [laughs] 'Cause I don't know anywhere in here that said race. At all. [laughs] Yeah.
• 6:04
That- Well, when you have 100 people together, you'll get that a little bit. Oh, yes. That's okay. Uh, oh, no, no, and I understand that. By the way, I made a little, uh, garage coffee this morning. Oh, did ya? I did.
• 6:14
Ground up the pot. Did you buy, did you buy a bag? I did buy a bag. Figured we can- I just love the, I lo- I love just how it sounds. "Yeah, just made some garage coffee." I've, you know...
• 6:23
Everything was great about garage coffee except for that he started setting up at 7 fucking 30 in the morning- And-... right next to our hotel [laughs] room. And he was rather loud.
• 6:31
And I was gonna say, the other part was I didn't get my ass moving until about five minutes before he was yanking out- But he-... all the stakes.
• 6:40
He also made- And I'm like, "Dude, it's only 9:00 in the damn morning, dude"... it, it was also at Cyan Cycles, though, so if you went for the tacos, which I have to tell you, were pretty fantastic. Yes, indeed.
• 6:50
But I needed my 9:00, uh, coffee. Yeah. We, uh- So I went for breakfast wine. There you go. Breakfast blend. And I, well, I had one- No, breakfast wine. Oh, breakfast wine. I had extra wine, so- Yeah.
• 7:01
I might as well have a glass of wine. I had, I had breakfast blend coffee, and then there was a one small container of Dunkin' Donuts, which is surprisingly good coffee. That's great coffee.
• 7:10
[laughs] It's, it's really is, like, a hidden gem. Yeah, yeah. So I have something technical to ask, because I, I'm, I'm, I'm ignorant to things that are made of this space age carbon fiber technology. Oh. You know?
• 7:27
Carpet fiber. Carpet fiber technology. So I, uh, as, as you're well aware of, Greg, but for the video listeners out there, which is kind of an, not really happening thing- Video, audio listeners...
• 7:37
video, audio listeners. I purchased [laughs] myself a, uh, whiskey seat post. And when reading the, uh, installation instructions, because even though I'm a man, sometimes I read instructions,
• 7:48
it claims that you need to- You're only a man sometimes?... clean... Yeah. Okay. You, you, uh, you have to clean
• 7:56
the oil, any grease from the frame of the bike before you install the seat post, otherwise it could potentially damage the carpet fiber. Uh, yeah, you're gonna wanna go ahead and just get that out of there.
• 8:08
How, uh, how clean? I mean, what do you use? I mean, do I... I mean, there's- Loofah? Yeah. Uh, m- you know, use the, uh- Like a degreaser?... White Lightning stuff and- Okay...
• 8:18
just hose it down and maybe put a towel down in there and clean it out. Okay. Do you have to be delicate? It's just, yeah, we wanna get that friction paste in there. Yeah.
• 8:28
So, uh, uh- And it's, obviously carbon fiber isn't going to, uh, have any kinda galvanic corrosion or anything- Right... keeping it in the frame. That's always nice. So.
• 8:36
So, okay, so there, that's my one technical question. I, I forwarded you a, uh, rather strange email, uh, from, uh, from Mr. Colucci regarding a really bizarre...
• 8:46
I believe Remington made this derailleur system, which could be why it resembles a, a gun shooting, for lack of a better term. But we can discuss that, or maybe put it in the notes and we'll ask people to comment on it.
• 8:59
Yeah, I'll put some pictures. Damn it, cool. Yeah, it's a video. It's a YouTube video, and I, it's just, it's the most bizarre... It, it's, like, so ridiculous that it's no wonder why no one's ever heard of it.
• 9:09
Leave it to my cuz. You know? Come on. Yeah, yeah, that's right. [laughs] Here's one for Dinardo. [laughs] Why not? Does he have one? Who knows? [laughs] No. It wouldn't surprise me.
• 9:18
Nothing is, nothing is off- You know... the reservation on that. Mr. Wooden slash bamboo slash insert weird bike here. Hey, have you met my midlife crisis? Yeah. Look at it. Yay.
• 9:29
[laughs] That was the funniest damn thing I've ever [laughs] seen, it the 24 at the end. [laughs] Yeah. It's like, "Hey, have you met my midlife crisis? Here it is." [laughs] Is it the wood? Yeah.
• 9:41
[laughs] It's a maple bike. It is, and it's got an Elfin- It's fucking awesome... 11 in it. Elfin, yeah. And, but of course, because Dinardo's a purist, it's got a kickstand- Nice... and it's got rim brakes. And fenders.
• 9:53
I- It must have fenders. It has to. Yeah. At least not at first, but by now- I, I will inquire. But I will inquire... by now. Because damn it, there was,
• 10:04
you know- Yeah, I don't- I should have a picture of that thing somewhere. Yeah. And I'll see Henry riding, uh, riding around, 'cause I live in the, uh, school zone, and it's like, "That kid doesn't look like all the...
• 10:18
Oh, damn it, yeah, of course." [laughs] One of these. Ri- riding Dinardo's bike? No, his own bike- Oh... but riding Dinardo style. Dinardo style. [laughs] It's like, eh, nope, no helmet. [laughs] Dun-da-dun-dun. Pft.
• 10:33
Yeah, they get, they get away with that over in Europe quite a bit, no helmets. They don't seem to have problems. Yeah. They don't seem to have asshole drivers like we do either, but- Yeah.
• 10:41
But I mean, a lot of parents going like, "You gotta put your damn helmet on," that's why you see all these kids, like, riding, no helmet, but the helmet is over the handlebars. It's like, uh- What?...
• 10:51
dressing up for school and then changing when you're out the door. Pretty much. Yeah. Yep. Gotta make- Well-... those parents think you're following the rules, hey? Yeah. Oh, to be young again.
• 11:05
Tony brought in some, uh, hot Jamaican jerky today. And I brought in some day-old movie theater popcorn. [laughs] And- [bell dings] And ranch dust Oh. Oh. Top of the hill. And it's top of the hill time, folks.
• 11:22
Top of the hill. Let's stop here and talk about our beer. Hm. It's an interesting one this week. Tony was in charge of beer today.
• 11:30
It, it caught my eye and I didn't notice the price, so everyone's getting lucky, or maybe not, depending on... Anyway, go. It is, uh, Carbon 4, which we love these guys. Yes. And Fantasy Factory.
• 11:41
And, and it is Fantasy Factory, which we love- Which we love... that beer. But then they went and threw in fruit punch. Fruit punch version of said, uh, IPA style Fantasy Factory.
• 11:52
It's made with mangoes, pineapples, and blackberries. I will tell you this, the first swallow, I wasn't super big on it. But after chomping on this here, uh- It's [laughs]-...
• 11:59
hot Jamaican jerky, now it's a pretty good combination... it's not too bad at all. [laughs] Well, with most sours, I mean, I know it's not a sour, but- You know The, the flavor, it's after, like...
• 12:09
You get used to it after- There you go... like, two swigs. It's got mango- Mango... pineapple, and blackberry. But no apricots. No apricot. And you know- No apricot...
• 12:17
as usual with Carbon Four, it has a pretty awesome logo with a cat riding a unicorn that now, unlike their original logo, has piercing red eyes, and he's holding a gold-plated pistol instead of the...
• 12:33
I don't know what the original one has on it. But anyway, it's not that. Silver, I believe. It's just a, a derivative label- Yes... of the original Fantasy Factory. So a fruitier version of your Fantasy Factory.
• 12:46
I don't know how widely Carbon Four is distributed. Is it still just Wisconey, or is it- I don't know... a wider region-ish... that's, that's probably a... I'll bet you they got to be beyond Wisconsin now. 6.3% alcohol?
• 12:57
The upper. Do we have a, an ABV on it? Does it have the... It doesn't have it on the bottom. That, that would be the ABV. We don't have an IBU. I... Thank you. International- I can, I can find that...
• 13:06
International Brewing Unit. International Bitter- Bitter... Bitter, Bitter, Bitter Girlfriend Units... Bitter Unit. 70, okay. Okay. Bitter Girl- I'm pretty highly educated and eating popcorn, and jerky.
• 13:20
Bitter Girlfriend- It's a pretty good pod show. It's good at tweaking... the IBU. Boom. You haven't had any of the Ranch Dust if you want the Ranch Dust.
• 13:30
[laughs] For no other reason that I bought it, impulse buy, 'cause I had- Ranch... Oh, is it popcorn-style salt that just- Yeah... happens to be ranch dust? Yeah, yeah. [laughs] With natural butter- buttermilk flavor.
• 13:44
Hmm. That's all right. Well, there you go. Let's just say
• 13:48
I had to stop at, you know, Walmart on the way to the movie theater, and then all of a sudden I'm looking for something else, and they're like this whole row [laughs] of these things.
• 14:00
Well, this is a- And I'm like, "Well, I'm going to the damn theater anyway, so..." This is a pretty weird podcast tonight. We're drinking beer with fruit in it. We're eating popcorn with- Ranch dressing...
• 14:11
ranch popcorn seasoning on it. [laughs] We're having spicy jerky. What next? What next? It's November. It's a snow globe. What the hell is going on? Yeah, it's, it's, it's accumulating out there, too. It's a...
• 14:23
Yeah, now it is. I kept thinking that this whole day was gonna- I, I got a bike out with little things in the front wheel. Little things. Little things?
• 14:32
There's little things in the front wheel, and when I ride it they go I'm like, "What in the hell is that?" Zip ties? Studs. Studs. Zip ties. I'm riding a- Just wrap, wrap your zip tie around your tire... freaking.
• 14:43
Just saying. Especially if you got rim brakes. Um- I mean, really, if you, uh [clicking] - I've got, uh- [laughs]... I've got a studless- Mike, Mike's got his dog clicker today... tire. Ah. [clicking] [laughs] Oh. I...
• 14:55
There are no, no, no, nobody's listing the IBU of this here particular beer. Hmm. Or I can't find it. Hmm. So- It is-... there are n- zero International- Bitter... Bitter Girlfriend Units on this? That's awesome.
• 15:07
So this is the most friendly beer. Yes, yes. I, it may very well be. Hmm. You can not have to worry about your Bitter Girlfriend Unit when you drink this beer. God. And this jerky kicks ass.
• 15:20
This makes me, this makes me happy, just the idea that... You know, you know my girlfriend. [laughs] She can be very bitter. [laughs] Especially after she listens to this podcast. Yeah. [laughs] Yeah.
• 15:34
We've talked about it before. [laughs] It's only been s- six years' worth. Exactly. Your fault. [laughs] No, actually it's six years and one week worth. That's sort of an arbitrary date. Exactly. Yeah.
• 15:45
It's a plus or minus- Well, but... of, like, three weeks on each end. Maybe we should talk about one of the most beautiful bikes in the world behind you there, Gregory. We could.
• 15:56
I mean- In fact, I think they may be stopping by. Sam might be in the neighborhood, hopefully. Hmm. With the- 'Cause yes, Drew... with, with the, with the final, um, acquisition of the cranks, it's, it's complete now.
• 16:08
It's- Just- You- Yes... e- even if we put- That's pretty... pictures of this thing online, it's not gonna do it justice. No. It's a Chumba titanium with- Every-... every- with the bling package. [laughs]...
• 16:17
every bell and whistle imaginable. Dude, that kiss- Oh... Paul Component brakes and, uh, your Access- Eagle oil... SRAM Access Eagle stuff with the, with the- What-...
• 16:28
magic button shifting and- Yeah, digital shifting or electronic shifting. And what's the oil can? What do they call that, that particular Eagle? Uh- It's got something to do with the multicolor cassette.
• 16:39
Oh, yeah, Rainbow. Rainbow. Maybe. I don't know. It's a Rainbow cassette, and you know, whiskey carbon rims, and- And, and Onyx racing hubs and-... and the, and the seat post and stems. Onyx hubs, yep.
• 16:50
It's, it's- Yeah, this was, this was one-... sensually beautiful... that took some time to do. It s- took some time. Yeah. But it's, uh, it is beautiful. Needs a bell. Yep. Oh, you know what's coming? Spurcycle?
• 17:00
Spur- Spurcycle, uh, Chris King edition, purple and bourbon colored- Oh, did you-... bells... I, I tagged... I don't know if I tagged, but I mentioned that Everyday Cycles sold two of those to someone in Japan.
• 17:15
The red ones? Yeah, the Chris King red ones. Yeah. Those are not coming back yet anyway. Yeah. So if you w- uh, wanna get these things, they're not gonna be around very long. Yep. They go, they go out quickly.
• 17:23
Uh, Revolution- Jepanther... just got theirs in. They posted a picture. [laughs] Not a Jepanther. [laughs] Actually, we should copy, uh...
• 17:29
We're gonna, we're gonna not only shout out to Revolution 'cause they're kickass people, but you gotta look at the way they set their two bells up because I have those handlebars that they cut down to make the, to mount the bells to.
• 17:38
It's a really cool idea. Oh, nice. We got a handlebar over there. Yeah, this is, like, just y- y... We'll put it in the notes. We'll put it.
• 17:46
And, uh, we're also gonna have Mr., um, Jeff on the show from Revolution at some point in the not too distant future. Nice. After we had
• 17:55
all those guests on our show at the Funduro, he was, it was kind of the end of the night, and I kinda tried to corral him into doing it, and he's like- Shoebarn the world...
• 18:02
"Yeah, maybe the next time on account of all the beer and stuff." [laughs] I'm kinda- I didn't even know he was there. I missed him. I'm kinda not a hmm, hmm, hmm. Yeah.
• 18:12
Who got the picture of you drinking the, uh, glass of wine with your pinky out? That was pretty epic. Oh, finally. Yes. Thank you for getting, for capturing my Lahey. Yeah. I was like- That, that was me, man.
• 18:23
I had- That's what I do... I, I had, like, a handful of pictures and going like, "Yeah, you kinda look alike." I'm just like, "Okay, this one." [laughs] Yep. And I'm like, "Yes, I need my sippy poo."
• 18:32
And, uh- But that was, um, I'm... You know, shout out to Design Cycles and Fatbike.com and everyone else that threw that event together because, you know, it, it would've been really hard to have a bad time there.
• 18:42
[laughs] I mean, it was... Everything about it was great. Yeah. We stopped at Boulevard Brewing on the way home and had the- Harbor... Har- Harbor. Thank you... Harbor Brewing. I always call it Bou- Boulevard.
• 18:50
Harbor br- Same alphabet. Yeah... Harbor Brewing, and had their... What was the IPA? That was- Special K? Special K IPA, which was delicious. Or something like that. And then while we were having it,
• 19:02
a woman came in and ordered the special, which is three different beers that this lady mixed together, and it sounded so good I had to have one, and I'll be damned if it wasn't- [laughs]... absolutely delicious.
• 19:15
It was the raw beer, the one they make where they don't boil it. Hmm. The Special K IPA, and then the first IPA they had up there. It was, like, a three mix. Interesting. It was...
• 19:27
I'm like, I've never heard of places other than your traditional black and tan. Did you go next door for the Roma pizza? No, I did not. Did you lock your bikes up by there? 'Cause- I didn't have to worry about that.
• 19:38
They were locked to a rack. He, he, he didn't... Yeah. Oh, was he not happy? Well, yeah, yeah. Huh? I'm not going to- She thanked us... I'm not gonna go into too much.
• 19:47
I just had a- The, the, the bartender thanked and hugged us- I will just say-... when we came in-... I had a little-... 'cause she said she had so much fun... little bit of a moment with a local. Uh-oh. Yeah.
• 19:56
And- Oh, hell. [laughs] No, no, nothing. Oh, no. Standby. Oh, boy. Here it comes. Everybody. Incoming. [laughs] Uh, excuse me. Why does everyone have hair? Why does have everyone have hair except me?
• 20:12
Technically, we're open till 8:00, so we just had some- Some guests walk in... some guests walk in [laughs] the door. Um- Oh, it's Gomez... hi Hi, Gomez. We're just sang your praises. That must be it.
• 20:23
Yeah, you sang it three times. Really? Yeah. Ears on, or are we on- Hi. Hi. Oh. Oh, my ears are- How's it going? You just said, "Oh, you have, you have Thundero swag on." No, I just got done eating. One day old popcorn?
• 20:41
Yeah. Not bad. Yeah, it's, uh- Here's in the fridge... just extra. Oh. Worth that. Hours, hours. Oh, it would match the- Six hours... would match the tie-dye EE wing [laughs] Oh, yeah. It just came in, by the way.
• 20:56
Put the needle on. The tie-ins, the, the 1990. Put the, put the needle on. He, he just, he just emailed me today. Real brown. [laughs] And I asked him- 'Cause the funny thing is, like,
• 21:08
we didn't know, and I was like, "Well, let's go down to Greg's and, like, let's crash the podcast, and let's go look at your bike." And he was like, "Yeah, all right." So how about that for timing?
• 21:20
Then we were at dinner, and you freaking called and said, "It's done." He was gonna say, "Oh, I don't know. It's done." I'm like, "Greg might know Siri. Siri might have told him." "Patrick, there's a green light."
• 21:34
Gregory, can we fetch some beers? Does anybody... Would you like a beer? Yes, I would. We have this Fancy Factory Fruit Punch. I like that one. Or we have a, uh, Hazy IPA from, uh, whatever. I'll take the Hazy IPA.
• 21:48
The Hazy Red? I was gonna say, I might just leave this out. Well, folks, that's about all we have time for [laughs] tonight. Yeah. Thanks for listening, and, uh- Yeah... pay no attention to the background noise.
• 22:01
For an hour There's only gnomes- Or enjoy the fuck out of it... in the forest. Bye.
• 22:08
  [upbeat music]
