- 0:00SPEAKER_02: Welcome back everyone to another episode of Obnoxiously Pleasant.
- 0:04SPEAKER_02: I love when Lena says that.
- 0:06SPEAKER_02: You guys know what this setup means, right?
- 0:07SPEAKER_02: It means that it is a really late on a Sunday night.
- 0:11SPEAKER_01: It's not that late.
- 0:12SPEAKER_02: It's not that late.
- 0:13SPEAKER_02: No, it's late for like how we like to do things, but later.
- 0:16SPEAKER_01: I mean Hana is an hour and five minutes late showing up.
- 0:19SPEAKER_02: I am.
- 0:20SPEAKER_02: Okay, but I had Sunday, guys.
- 0:22SPEAKER_02: I have like I had like 4,000 things to do today.
- 0:25SPEAKER_02: But you know what?
- 0:25SPEAKER_02: This is like very telling of like the episode that we're about to get into today, right?
- 0:32SPEAKER_02: So this episode is gonna be focused on things that I wish like my mom or our moms or just any responsible adult in our lives could have told us, like in our early 20s, right?
- 0:47SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 0:47SPEAKER_02: I mean, Lena got this idea because she saw a BuzzFees article, but she it said, like, you know, things you should learn in your 30s.
- 0:53SPEAKER_02: I'm like, no, no, no, no, not 30 something.
- 0:55SPEAKER_02: I want it to be 20 something.
- 0:56SPEAKER_02: I want to be like 17, right?
- 0:59SPEAKER_02: I think there was one line from that article that I absolutely love that I wish somebody had told me at like early as possible is you know, take care of my knees.
- 1:07SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I should take care of my knees.
- 1:09SPEAKER_02: That's really important.
- 1:10SPEAKER_01: The knees the knees one.
- 1:12SPEAKER_02: The knees one.
- 1:13SPEAKER_02: That would that I don't know why that's tricky cord.
- 1:14SPEAKER_02: It's not like I have bad knees, but it's like my biggest fear.
- 1:17SPEAKER_01: No, no, inshallah, you won't have any issues.
- 1:18SPEAKER_01: Let's start with the first one.
- 1:20SPEAKER_01: Okay, I think this is one of the most important ones.
- 1:23SPEAKER_01: Oops, sorry, hold on one second.
- 1:26SPEAKER_02: Never depend on a man for your money.
- 1:29SPEAKER_02: That was like number 10 on the list, which kind of blows my mind.
- 1:31SPEAKER_02: That should have been number one on the list.
- 1:33SPEAKER_02: You know, but I I don't think it's in order.
- 1:35SPEAKER_02: It shouldn't, and you know, and you know, honestly, it shouldn't be like it.
- 1:39SPEAKER_02: This should be uh something for everyone man, woman.
- 1:42SPEAKER_02: Never depend on anyone for your money.
- 1:44SPEAKER_02: So no, I agree.
- 1:46SPEAKER_02: Really, honestly, never depend on anyone for your money.
- 1:48SPEAKER_02: It should really should be that simple.
- 1:50SPEAKER_02: Um Go ahead.
- 1:52SPEAKER_02: I was gonna say, because that's like, look, regardless of like what anybody believes, money is power, and you're never gonna be able to fully have a to be fully independent, have a voice, do what you want to do in life if you're not the one funding it for yourself.
- 2:06SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 2:07SPEAKER_01: Plain and simple.
- 2:08SPEAKER_02: Like I said, man or woman, anybody.
- 2:10SPEAKER_01: I think um having your own money, making your own money um is one of the most important things.
- 2:16SPEAKER_01: And I tell my daughter this all the time, because no one should be dependent on anybody.
- 2:21SPEAKER_02: But as I'm saying, you say that to your money, to your daughter and your and your son, like to have your own money.
- 2:25SPEAKER_02: But have your own money.
- 2:27SPEAKER_01: Especially, especially my daughter.
- 2:29SPEAKER_01: I feel like, you know, and and I think our generation, like it's not really like our friends and the people we know, like we all make our own money, but I think there's still a lot of women out there that do rely on men.
- 2:44SPEAKER_02: And I think that's and to be honest with you though, but I don't think that's a bad thing either.
- 2:48SPEAKER_02: I think it's important, yes, I think it's important to have your own money, but I also I don't want to take away from if that is the dynamic in your relationship and if it works for you, good for you.
- 2:57SPEAKER_02: Like, you know, uh it's fine.
- 2:59SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 2:59SPEAKER_01: I mean, I get what you're saying too, but I also think it's very important that you have your own money.
- 3:03SPEAKER_02: I I I'm not gonna be able to do that but sometimes people, but sometimes people, that's not the dynamic in their relationship.
- 3:07SPEAKER_02: And I just want to tell you out there, if that's the dynamic dynamic in your relationship, it's okay.
- 3:12SPEAKER_02: It's okay.
- 3:12SPEAKER_02: I'm not judging you.
- 3:13SPEAKER_02: I'm not judging your own.
- 3:14SPEAKER_01: No, I'm not judging either.
- 3:15SPEAKER_01: I'm just saying this is advice that we're telling younger women, you know, just just to be careful, you know.
- 3:21SPEAKER_02: Yeah, but I think it's funny because I said the BuzzFeed article said women, but I feel like it could be women or men or anybody.
- 3:26SPEAKER_02: Make your own money.
- 3:27SPEAKER_02: That is important.
- 3:28SPEAKER_02: At the same time, though, if that's not the dynamic you have and you're living your best life, do not let me deter you from that.
- 3:35SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 3:36SPEAKER_01: I mean, here's the next one.
- 3:37SPEAKER_01: It kind of goes hand in hand, which is decenter men, less social media, decenter people, not just men, decenter people.
- 3:44SPEAKER_02: Yes, people.
- 3:45SPEAKER_01: Uh so this one, Rachel Lasseter says, decenter men, less social media, more travel, less social media, read more books.
- 3:52SPEAKER_01: I think decentering people, you're right.
- 3:55SPEAKER_02: Let's figure, and I mean, and and here's the thing, right?
- 3:58SPEAKER_02: I don't like I understand what this person is saying, but I also when you when you just say decenter men by and like I said, again, this is very focused on the article for BuzzFeed, and it was you know, advice for women.
- 4:08SPEAKER_02: And like I said, I think this is more like advice that I wish somebody would have told me, you know, in my younger years.
- 4:14SPEAKER_02: And I don't think it should apply to women only.
- 4:17SPEAKER_02: I think this advice can go for both women and for anybody.
- 4:20SPEAKER_02: So I think it's decenter, decenter people, right?
- 4:23SPEAKER_02: Not men, but decenter people that don't provide any useful or anything of value to your life, right?
- 4:31SPEAKER_02: If this person is not bringing you up, if this person is not helping you grow, if this person is not, you know, a motivating factor for you to be the best version of yourself, they probably don't matter.
- 4:41SPEAKER_02: And I agree, less social media, more books, right?
- 4:44SPEAKER_02: I'm guilty, you're guilty.
- 4:46SPEAKER_02: We're all guilty of being spending too much time on social media, but yeah.
- 4:49SPEAKER_02: That's true.
- 4:49SPEAKER_01: That's true.
- 4:50SPEAKER_01: Okay, here's the next one.
- 4:52SPEAKER_01: Uh oops, sorry, my bad.
- 4:53SPEAKER_01: One second.
- 4:56SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 4:58SPEAKER_01: So this one, uh, this is uh from a user named Freddy Wings.
- 5:03SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 5:04SPEAKER_01: Let go of anything that destroys your peace.
- 5:06SPEAKER_01: You may not be able to let it go immediately, but start making a plan and also work to heal whatever attracted you to that thing in the first place.
- 5:15SPEAKER_02: But again, I feel like that's advice for anybody, men or women, right?
- 5:18SPEAKER_02: And it's true.
- 5:19SPEAKER_02: Let go of, and we're all guilty of hanging on to something that's not good for us, right?
- 5:25SPEAKER_02: That someone this and destroys your peace is such a big statement.
- 5:29SPEAKER_02: But anything that I don't, I I would even go, it doesn't have to be something that destroys, I would even go to say disrupts.
- 5:36SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 5:36SPEAKER_02: Because destroy is such a strong word, but even anything that disrupts your peace, right?
- 5:40SPEAKER_01: No, I agree.
- 5:41SPEAKER_01: I agree.
- 5:41SPEAKER_01: And I think I think when it comes to this, I would I think when we're younger, um, we're kind of hopeful.
- 5:47SPEAKER_01: Oh, this is gonna change or this person's gonna change.
- 5:50SPEAKER_01: Oh, and I think there's a there comes a point where like you have to kind of cut your losses and move on.
- 5:57SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 5:58SPEAKER_01: And this this this can be- but I don't even think it's tied to a person.
- 6:01SPEAKER_02: I think it's habits, I think it's anything, honestly.
- 6:03SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it could be it can be a person, it can be a habit, it can be a bad job, okay, whatever, whatever it is.
- 6:08SPEAKER_01: Like you have to kind of, you know, don't waste so much time trying to salvage the situation, okay?
- 6:15SPEAKER_01: Because sometimes some situations you just can't.
- 6:18SPEAKER_01: You got to cut your losses and move on.
- 6:20SPEAKER_01: And I think the sooner you do that, the better.
- 6:22SPEAKER_02: And like I like you're saying, I don't I don't even think it has to be a um a person or a situation.
- 6:28SPEAKER_02: It could be a habit, it could be anything.
- 6:30SPEAKER_02: There's like a plethora of things that like if it's not good for you and you know that it's causing you, you know, some sort of problem or issue, just like let it go.
- 6:40SPEAKER_02: Like, I know it's easier said than done, and it takes time.
- 6:42SPEAKER_02: And we all do things that are not good for us, all of us collectively.
- 6:45SPEAKER_00: Yeah, right.
- 6:46SPEAKER_02: So it would be nice if we just didn't do that anymore.
- 6:49SPEAKER_02: Just let it go.
- 6:50SPEAKER_02: You know, it's okay.
- 6:51SPEAKER_02: Like, and and a lot of it isn't even things that we can help.
- 6:54SPEAKER_02: Like, I wish somebody told me very, very early on in my life, like, it's okay.
- 6:58SPEAKER_02: Like, you don't have to live with anxiety.
- 7:00SPEAKER_02: We could treat that.
- 7:01SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 7:02SPEAKER_02: Think about it.
- 7:03SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I mean, anxiety is another thing, but we'll we'll we'll talk about that later.
- 7:07SPEAKER_02: That is something that destroys your piece.
- 7:09SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 7:10SPEAKER_01: Um, okay, so this one is from a user called Northern Skies, and they say you don't need more things that go on a dusty shelf or in boxes you'll never look at again.
- 7:20SPEAKER_01: Travel instead.
- 7:21SPEAKER_01: Thoughts.
- 7:22SPEAKER_02: This is so true.
- 7:23SPEAKER_02: My sister and I were talking about that, but it's not even things on dusty shelves.
- 7:27SPEAKER_02: It's like she was talking about like, let's all these concepts of things that you're like saving for a special day, or that you know, you'll use when it's time.
- 7:38SPEAKER_02: She's like, today's as good as any day.
- 7:41SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but that's a different thing.
- 7:42SPEAKER_01: I think that's different.
- 7:43SPEAKER_01: I think this is more about accumulation, like accumulating things, okay, and buying.
- 7:49SPEAKER_01: Well, what things are we talking about accumulating?
- 7:51SPEAKER_02: I mean, I look I I think I think in general, I think it's fine.
- 7:54SPEAKER_02: It's I look at this and I um like it's like you don't need things that go on a dusty shelf, right?
- 8:03SPEAKER_02: Like travel instead, and it's fine.
- 8:04SPEAKER_02: And it depends on what people are collecting and what you see as something on the dusty shelf versus how somebody else takes it.
- 8:10SPEAKER_02: I think there are people who find real joy in collecting or having these things.
- 8:15SPEAKER_02: And if that's what they want, fine.
- 8:17SPEAKER_02: But if you're buying things just to like keep up with the Joneses or just to, you know, just to have, to say I have, then probably shouldn't be buying these things.
- 8:27SPEAKER_01: No, I think I think for me that one, the thing that I care most most about is travel.
- 8:32SPEAKER_01: I totally agree with that.
- 8:33SPEAKER_01: I think if you you know, there's so many things that you can spend your money on.
- 8:37SPEAKER_01: Me personally, I will always pick travel over anything, anything else.
- 8:41SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 8:42SPEAKER_02: Sometimes me personally, yeah, but there are things like when I when I look at that, there are sometimes things that I I don't know.
- 8:48SPEAKER_02: Sometimes buying something brings me so much joy.
- 8:50SPEAKER_02: But I'm using it, it's not gonna get dusty on a shelf, but I use it.
- 8:54SPEAKER_01: Okay, all right.
- 8:55SPEAKER_01: Um, this is this is kind of similar to what we were talking about.
- 9:00SPEAKER_01: Um, and this is it says stop spending so much money.
- 9:02SPEAKER_01: You don't need the latest gadget, fashion, phone, or I so agree with.
- 9:07SPEAKER_01: Yeah, uh, nails cost a lot, hair costs a lot, designer products aren't worth it.
- 9:11SPEAKER_01: Having money wait, wait, let me finish.
- 9:14SPEAKER_01: Having money and savings with no debt is awesome.
- 9:16SPEAKER_01: Never paying off your debt will eat you alive.
- 9:18SPEAKER_01: Okay, go ahead.
- 9:19SPEAKER_02: But I think if you can do all of that and get your hair and nails done, do it, girl.
- 9:23SPEAKER_01: Okay, so here's the thing.
- 9:24SPEAKER_01: Here's here's the thing.
- 9:25SPEAKER_01: When I saw this, I agree that you know, don't you don't have you don't need the latest thing, okay?
- 9:30SPEAKER_01: You don't need the most expensive bag or the latest thing.
- 9:32SPEAKER_01: I agree with that, but I think there are some things like nails and hair, okay.
- 9:37SPEAKER_01: I personally think you should get that done.
- 9:40SPEAKER_01: Absolutely just me.
- 9:41SPEAKER_02: Okay, but I think it's I I think that here's the thing, right?
- 9:44SPEAKER_02: Like what I agree with some of this, right?
- 9:48SPEAKER_02: Like conceptually, not all of it, not all of it, because I also feel like, yeah, I also feel like what if this thing brings you joy, right?
- 9:56SPEAKER_02: Yeah, as long as you're not going into debt to get your hair done and your nails done, yes, then fine.
- 10:01SPEAKER_02: Like do all of these things.
- 10:02SPEAKER_01: Self-care is important.
- 10:03SPEAKER_01: Yeah, self-care is very important.
- 10:05SPEAKER_01: I think that's it's totally fine to do that.
- 10:07SPEAKER_01: But like if you're is a m haqeti, like you said, if you're going in debt to do this, if you're going in debt to buy a car, okay, that's that's not good.
- 10:17SPEAKER_01: And I think the most important thing from that what I what do you mean if you I mean most people have car payments?
- 10:23SPEAKER_02: What are you talking about?
- 10:25SPEAKER_01: No, no, car payments, yeah, but like okay, forget the car situation or the house payment, okay?
- 10:29SPEAKER_01: You know what I mean?
- 10:30SPEAKER_01: Like there are certain there are certain purchases.
- 10:32SPEAKER_01: What I'm saying is there are certain purchases that you really okay.
- 10:35SPEAKER_01: For example, if you can get a and I know cars are like really expensive now, okay?
- 10:39SPEAKER_01: Like it's shocking to me.
- 10:41SPEAKER_01: Um, if you can get like a$40,000 car, okay, instead of an eighty thousand dollar car, why would you go with the eighty thousand dollar car?
- 10:49SPEAKER_01: Can you afford the eighty thousand dollar car?
- 10:51SPEAKER_01: That's the thing.
- 10:52SPEAKER_01: If you can afford it, go for it.
- 10:54SPEAKER_01: But if you can't afford it, that's what I mean.
- 10:55SPEAKER_01: I think it's like unnecessary debt, unnecessary debt.
- 10:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah, but I think the whole thing is just for people to just do your best, everybody.
- 11:03SPEAKER_02: Do your best.
- 11:04SPEAKER_01: You know, and I get you're trying to be like politically correct here.
- 11:06SPEAKER_01: I totally no, it's not about politically correct.
- 11:08SPEAKER_02: I think within your means, yes, I that I'd say that is something I truly believe in.
- 11:13SPEAKER_02: Absolutely.
- 11:14SPEAKER_01: And I think being in debt is a big problem.
- 11:16SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and I at the same time, there are people who are it just that's just how they are.
- 11:22SPEAKER_02: Like there's nothing you could do about that.
- 11:24SPEAKER_02: And living here, living in a capitalist society, everybody is in some sort of thing.
- 11:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but we're trying to advise people, we're trying to advise younger women.
- 11:31SPEAKER_01: Okay, Hanan, you're missing the point here.
- 11:34SPEAKER_01: Okay, I just I have a car payment.
- 11:37SPEAKER_02: You I haven't had a car payment in so long.
- 11:39SPEAKER_01: Okay, you have a car payment.
- 11:40SPEAKER_01: I understand, but like, are are you able to afford that car payment?
- 11:44SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 11:45SPEAKER_01: You you picked a car, you bought a car that you can manage.
- 11:48SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I definitely did not buy an$80,000 car in case you're not going to be able to do it.
- 11:51SPEAKER_01: Okay, that's what I'm saying.
- 11:52SPEAKER_01: That's what I'm saying.
- 11:53SPEAKER_01: Because uh, for me, a car gets you from point A to point B.
- 11:56SPEAKER_01: Do I really need all the like, you know, some people do?
- 12:00SPEAKER_01: I guess that's not worth it.
- 12:02SPEAKER_02: If they can afford it, then I think it so here's the thing.
- 12:04SPEAKER_02: Like, I like looking at that statement like yes, and then I don't know.
- 12:08SPEAKER_02: And the other part of me is like, whatever, spend your money.
- 12:12SPEAKER_02: You're not taking it with you when you leave.
- 12:15SPEAKER_01: Okay, again, Henan.
- 12:16SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 12:17SPEAKER_01: Henan, you're like really bad to talk to about money.
- 12:20SPEAKER_01: Okay, you're clearly not the person to talk about trying to save some money.
- 12:24SPEAKER_02: No, it's not no blacks.
- 12:25SPEAKER_02: I uh no, I save it's that's not it at all.
- 12:28SPEAKER_02: I just look at again, I look at like I don't know.
- 12:32SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 12:32SPEAKER_02: I've experienced I've experienced a lot of of death this year.
- 12:36SPEAKER_02: You don't take anything with you.
- 12:38SPEAKER_01: No, absolutely.
- 12:38SPEAKER_01: No, I agree with you.
- 12:39SPEAKER_01: Like, don't be a cheap ass either, but like just live within your means.
- 12:42SPEAKER_02: Yeah, exactly.
- 12:43SPEAKER_02: I think that's it.
- 12:44SPEAKER_02: Like, don't be cheap.
- 12:45SPEAKER_02: That's it.
- 12:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah, don't be cheap, but also live in live within your means.
- 12:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah, don't be cheap and get your nails and don't focus so much on brand names and luxury items and all that stuff, and get your nails done.
- 12:54SPEAKER_01: Absolutely, totally agree from someone who never gets her never never gets a manicure.
- 12:58SPEAKER_01: I do pedicures, but not manicures.
- 13:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah, okay.
- 13:01SPEAKER_01: Let's do the next one.
- 13:02SPEAKER_01: I think this is really important, by the way.
- 13:05SPEAKER_01: Take the pictures with you in them.
- 13:08SPEAKER_02: I totally agree.
- 13:10SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 13:11SPEAKER_01: Okay, because like I was looking for a picture the other day, and I'm like, oh my god, the last nice picture I took was like three years ago.
- 13:17SPEAKER_02: Because like when I die, how are you guys gonna make like an in-memorium video of it?
- 13:21SPEAKER_01: Salam to say that, dude.
- 13:22SPEAKER_01: Like, why are we why are you being so morbid today?
- 13:24SPEAKER_01: What is wrong with you?
- 13:28SPEAKER_01: Are you okay?
- 13:29SPEAKER_01: Well, you don't have pictures of me.
- 13:30SPEAKER_01: How are you gonna do an in-memorium video?
- 13:32SPEAKER_01: Oh my god, Hanan.
- 13:34SPEAKER_02: You know when people are always looking looking for looking for pictures of the of their dead loved ones, and you're like, man, I wish I would have taken more pictures with X, Y, and Z.
- 13:42SPEAKER_02: Or just in general, like when you look at pictures, like I don't know, you like you were saying, like you're looking at a picture of a nice picture of yourself, right?
- 13:49SPEAKER_02: And then you're like, man, I don't have any pictures of it.
- 13:51SPEAKER_02: You're why?
- 13:52SPEAKER_01: But you know why?
- 13:53SPEAKER_01: I'll tell you why.
- 13:54SPEAKER_01: I think this is the more important issue.
- 13:55SPEAKER_01: I think we're so judgmental, we're so hard on ourselves.
- 13:59SPEAKER_01: Oh my god, I look fat.
- 14:00SPEAKER_01: I look fat, I look, I don't look good.
- 14:02SPEAKER_01: I think that is an issue.
- 14:05SPEAKER_01: Um, like I'll admit it, like I've had that throughout my entire life to this day.
- 14:10SPEAKER_01: Like, I'm like, oh my god, I don't look, but you know what?
- 14:12SPEAKER_01: Even the other day, like late yesterday, we went out to get coffee, me and the kids, and Raz like, oh my god, mama, you look so pretty.
- 14:19SPEAKER_01: Let me take a picture.
- 14:20SPEAKER_01: I'm like, okay.
- 14:20SPEAKER_01: So she takes a picture, and you know what she says to me?
- 14:23SPEAKER_01: It's like that me, my sentiment with the with the duck.
- 14:26SPEAKER_01: And she's like, Mama, you look so nice in person, but she's like, it did not look good in the picture.
- 14:31SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 14:32SPEAKER_01: And I saw it and she's right.
- 14:33SPEAKER_01: I'm like, yeah, I'm not a photogenic person.
- 14:35SPEAKER_01: I really am not.
- 14:36SPEAKER_02: Yeah, but I also think it just depends on, you know, you know, the lighting and everything else.
- 14:40SPEAKER_01: Like, I get it, but like, but like for me personally, I that was a big thing for me.
- 14:46SPEAKER_01: Like, I look back and I'm like, damn, I wish I can go back and like take more pictures because I really didn't look that bad.
- 14:52SPEAKER_01: I look good, goddamn it.
- 14:54SPEAKER_02: Okay, but you don't look bad now.
- 14:56SPEAKER_01: I know, I know what I'm saying.
- 14:57SPEAKER_01: I'm getting better with this.
- 14:59SPEAKER_02: At least you don't have like three-day old curls and look electrocuted like me.
- 15:02SPEAKER_02: There is that.
- 15:03SPEAKER_02: Honestly, perfectly fine.
- 15:06SPEAKER_02: Like, what's going on with my hair, guys?
- 15:07SPEAKER_02: What is going on with my hair?
- 15:08SPEAKER_02: Like this side, you can tell this is the side I slept on.
- 15:10SPEAKER_02: Look, look at this one hair.
- 15:12SPEAKER_02: What happened here?
- 15:13SPEAKER_02: What happened to this hair?
- 15:14SPEAKER_02: I don't know what's going on.
- 15:16SPEAKER_01: I think you were outside for too long.
- 15:18SPEAKER_01: I think so too.
- 15:19SPEAKER_02: It was it was kind of hot today.
- 15:21SPEAKER_02: It wasn't humid, but it was kind of hot today.
- 15:23SPEAKER_02: And then like this, like, what the heck is this?
- 15:24SPEAKER_02: What happened here?
- 15:25SPEAKER_02: What's this?
- 15:26SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 15:26SPEAKER_02: Did you guys see this?
- 15:27SPEAKER_01: You're on your own there.
- 15:29SPEAKER_01: Um, but anyway, take the picture, guys.
- 15:31SPEAKER_01: Be kind to yourselves because I think that's that that's a lot, like that's more than one issue in one.
- 15:36SPEAKER_02: But you know, I think that that's in us in general, not just in pictures.
- 15:39SPEAKER_02: We're so judgmental about the way that we look all the time.
- 15:42SPEAKER_02: And I think like, especially like when you get to this age, like when we're on our mid four mid we're officially entered our late 40s, right?
- 15:50SPEAKER_02: Lena entered before I'm 49.
- 15:51SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 15:52SPEAKER_01: Um, no, no, wait, time out.
- 15:56SPEAKER_01: You act like we're 49.
- 15:57SPEAKER_01: Okay, can we stop?
- 15:59SPEAKER_02: Lena already turned 46, and I'm turning 46 this August.
- 16:02SPEAKER_02: We are in our late 40s, okay?
- 16:04SPEAKER_02: Anyways, whatever.
- 16:06SPEAKER_02: It's not late 40s.
- 16:07SPEAKER_01: We're still in our mid.
- 16:07SPEAKER_01: 45, 46 is mid.
- 16:09SPEAKER_01: I refuse.
- 16:10SPEAKER_02: 46 is on the way to late.
- 16:12SPEAKER_02: I don't care anyways.
- 16:13SPEAKER_01: Go ahead.
- 16:14SPEAKER_02: Whatever, it doesn't matter.
- 16:15SPEAKER_02: But what I'm saying is when I look back, and sometimes you look at pictures, you're like, oh my god, ew, why you look like this?
- 16:21SPEAKER_02: I'm like, oh my god, I like like just earlier today when I was like, oh, look at this video of myself.
- 16:25SPEAKER_02: I look like the blob.
- 16:26SPEAKER_02: I am I am the pick the video of the somebody who doesn't work out.
- 16:30SPEAKER_01: So, but then I think to myself I thought that video you looked amazing in it.
- 16:33SPEAKER_01: I don't know what the hell you're talking about.
- 16:34SPEAKER_02: Thank you.
- 16:35SPEAKER_02: But then I think to myself, and I'm like, you know, we're so like critical of our bodies, and we never actually thank our bodies for just carrying us every single day, let alone carrying two children for each single one of us and delivering two children and nursing two children and caring for them day in and day out until you know that they're mashallah, the age that they're at now.
- 16:57SPEAKER_02: It's just, I don't know.
- 16:59SPEAKER_02: Again, just nobody ever says thank you, my body, for carrying me today.
- 17:02SPEAKER_02: It's just like, oh my god, you're so fat.
- 17:04SPEAKER_01: Oh my god, you suck.
- 17:05SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 17:06SPEAKER_01: Be kind to yourself, be like just take the picture, dude.
- 17:09SPEAKER_01: You look amazing, just do it.
- 17:11SPEAKER_01: Don't worry about it.
- 17:12SPEAKER_01: That's my that that is that's advice that I wish someone gave me, honestly.
- 17:16SPEAKER_02: I know, right?
- 17:17SPEAKER_01: Like, you know, I honestly like that is something because I look back, I'm like, damn, I was always like worried how how I look in the picture.
- 17:23SPEAKER_02: I mean, I have some great pictures of you if you want me to share them with you.
- 17:25SPEAKER_01: No, I'm good.
- 17:26SPEAKER_02: And my head looks much bigger than yours.
- 17:29SPEAKER_01: Here now, or just no, in the pictures.
- 17:32unknown: Okay.
- 17:37SPEAKER_02: But but well, my hair is curly, and you and I take pictures side by side.
- 17:40SPEAKER_02: My head looks so much bigger than yours.
- 17:42SPEAKER_02: I mean, my head is bigger than yours.
- 17:44SPEAKER_01: I don't have I have wavy hair.
- 17:46SPEAKER_01: I don't have curly hair.
- 17:47SPEAKER_01: Sorry.
- 17:47SPEAKER_01: Yeah, this is yeah.
- 17:49SPEAKER_01: All right, you ready for the next one?
- 17:51SPEAKER_01: I'm ready for the next one.
- 17:52SPEAKER_01: This is the last one that I have, but I I have my own after this.
- 17:56SPEAKER_01: So this one, use your PTO.
- 17:59SPEAKER_01: Work is not family, there is no family atmosphere unless it's a small business, and HR is there for the company and not you.
- 18:06SPEAKER_02: I know.
- 18:08SPEAKER_02: I agree 100%.
- 18:09SPEAKER_02: 100%.
- 18:10SPEAKER_02: HR is definitely there for the company, they're not there for you.
- 18:13SPEAKER_02: Um, this goes in line with what we discussed that last week, which is like nothing is an emergency.
- 18:18SPEAKER_02: Like, live your best life.
- 18:19SPEAKER_02: Live your best life.
- 18:21SPEAKER_01: 100%.
- 18:22SPEAKER_02: Um if I could, if I could scream that from the rooftops, I absolutely, absolutely would.
- 18:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah, take your PTO.
- 18:30SPEAKER_01: Um, the other day I was talking to my boss, and I was like, Can I get my PTO approved?
- 18:35SPEAKER_01: And he was like, Yeah, sure.
- 18:37SPEAKER_01: You know, but maybe we're gonna buy some of them back, half of them back.
- 18:41SPEAKER_01: I'm like, I don't want to say anything because you know it's so busy at work.
- 18:45SPEAKER_01: And he's like, No, I understand that's your right, you can take it, but like there's people who are willing.
- 18:49SPEAKER_01: I'm like, that's fine.
- 18:50SPEAKER_01: I'm not one of those people.
- 18:51SPEAKER_01: I want my time off.
- 18:52SPEAKER_01: I want to spend my summer with my kids, okay, uh, with family.
- 18:57SPEAKER_01: I do not, I am not interested.
- 18:59SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 19:00SPEAKER_01: Um, if anything's taught me, if if there's one thing that I've learned over the years, is that you can give your all, you can give your best to a company, and at the end of the day, they will still taught you to the side.
- 19:11SPEAKER_01: Absolutely, because you're just still a number for them, okay.
- 19:14SPEAKER_01: Um that's the sad reality.
- 19:17SPEAKER_01: So, yeah, be be a hard worker, be dedicated, but do not um, I mean, I don't know.
- 19:24SPEAKER_01: Like, I just think you gotta take care of yourself.
- 19:26SPEAKER_01: Take your time.
- 19:27SPEAKER_01: I agree with you.
- 19:28SPEAKER_01: Spend time with your family.
- 19:29SPEAKER_01: Work is not everything, you know, um, and that's it.
- 19:34SPEAKER_02: Yep, I agree.
- 19:35SPEAKER_02: I agree with you 100%.
- 19:36SPEAKER_02: 100%.
- 19:37SPEAKER_01: Do you have do you have anything else, any other piece of advice?
- 19:40SPEAKER_01: Because I I do actually.
- 19:41SPEAKER_02: One that I that I think is really important, right?
- 19:44SPEAKER_02: Is that like you have to really care about your health.
- 19:47SPEAKER_02: Like, I I don't know, it's weird.
- 19:49SPEAKER_02: It's like your health.
- 19:51SPEAKER_02: So, like like sleep, stress, what you eat, whether or not you're hydrated, the protein intake, because I wrote this down, uh, intake, your nutrition, these things stop becoming like abstract concepts and start becoming like real life things that you deal with when you really are in this that you really they're in this part of your no, like not that you really need that, become visible over time.
- 20:14SPEAKER_02: Like if you're burnt out, if you don't sleep enough, if you're not eating right, if you don't have a I don't know, stretching schedule, just things like that.
- 20:22SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 20:22SPEAKER_02: Not really stretched.
- 20:24SPEAKER_02: Actually, I try to stretch a lot.
- 20:26SPEAKER_02: I don't do a great job, but I try.
- 20:28SPEAKER_02: But I wish somebody had told me these are things, these are better habits, like you should build.
- 20:31SPEAKER_02: You should have some sort of stretching your exercise routine.
- 20:34SPEAKER_02: You should be careful you should do your blood work regularly, right?
- 20:38SPEAKER_02: Maybe then I stop being such a freaking hypochondriac.
- 20:41SPEAKER_02: You should start, you know, eating right, like actually monitoring your nutrition, like making sure that you're getting the nutrients that you need.
- 20:48SPEAKER_02: Because in your 30s and sleeping correctly, like you don't you nobody can get by in four hours of sleep, right?
- 20:55SPEAKER_02: Like I say it as a joke, but it's true.
- 20:57SPEAKER_02: Like over time, these things become visible on your body, on your face, on your person, on the way that you behave.
- 21:03SPEAKER_02: So, like, I don't know, build build those good habits, like when you're young, because then when you get to be my age, you know, you're not constantly fighting for your life.
- 21:13SPEAKER_01: Okay, so um mine, one of mine is don't waste your time on people who don't deserve your time or your energy.
- 21:22SPEAKER_01: Oh my god, do you know what I have on my list?
- 21:24SPEAKER_02: Say yes, but selectively.
- 21:26SPEAKER_01: Okay, okay.
- 21:27SPEAKER_01: It's kind of like saying it goes that, yeah, because like it's okay.
- 21:31SPEAKER_01: Like, we know when when when you were younger, we're like, oh no, I have to go.
- 21:35SPEAKER_01: No, you don't have to, you know, and it goes into the next one.
- 21:37SPEAKER_01: It's okay to say no to invitations.
- 21:39SPEAKER_02: But it's funny, that's what I'm saying.
- 21:40SPEAKER_02: Say yes selectively because I'm uh all I keep saying to myself is like I'm somebody who tries to make everything and do everything.
- 21:46SPEAKER_02: But as you get older, you're like, no, I need to say yes selectively because every yes costs me time, costs focus, costs energy.
- 21:53SPEAKER_02: And the question then becomes do I want to spend my energy on this?
- 21:56SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and that just I'm gonna ask you a question now.
- 21:58SPEAKER_01: Just think back and be honest.
- 22:00SPEAKER_01: With me in your 20s and 30s, how many times did you find yourself in a gathering or outing or event where you truly didn't want to be there?
- 22:07SPEAKER_02: You like a lot more often than not, actually.
- 22:11SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 22:11SPEAKER_01: See, that's what I'm thinking.
- 22:12SPEAKER_01: If you could have used that time with someone you actually like enjoy their company.
- 22:17unknown: Yeah.
- 22:18SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 22:18SPEAKER_01: And I feel like I feel like with us, like that that sense of obligation, especially in our community.
- 22:25SPEAKER_01: Oh, we have to, oh, it's a you know, like I feel like we do that a lot.
- 22:30SPEAKER_01: And it's not just our community.
- 22:31SPEAKER_01: I know a lot of people sometimes feel obligated to go to certain events or gatherings, but I'm just like, honestly, I just don't do that anymore.
- 22:39SPEAKER_01: I just don't care.
- 22:40SPEAKER_01: You know, I just I'm done.
- 22:42SPEAKER_01: Like I, my time is valuable and I just I'm not gonna waste it on people.
- 22:48SPEAKER_01: I don't even enjoy their company.
- 22:49SPEAKER_01: I just I'm not gonna do that anymore.
- 22:51SPEAKER_01: And I'm not gonna feel bad.
- 22:52SPEAKER_01: I think the key is not feeling bad or feeling guilty about it.
- 22:55SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I also um it's it's funny that you say that because like, you know, this concept of like saying yes selectively, it's a whole thing, it's all about your energy, right?
- 23:04SPEAKER_02: Like where you spend your time, your energy, your focus.
- 23:07SPEAKER_02: And that like kind of made me think about, you know, the fact that when you're when you're young, right, you're trying to do your best in your career.
- 23:19SPEAKER_02: And in your case and mine, like we were also married.
- 23:21SPEAKER_02: So you have you have a marriage that you need to maintain, you have a house, right?
- 23:24SPEAKER_02: And you have your family, and you have friends, and so you're trying to do all of these things together, right?
- 23:30SPEAKER_02: And I wish somebody had told me that like you don't actually have to do that.
- 23:33SPEAKER_02: Yeah, like you don't have to excel in every single, you know, like nothing, not every like it's just like not like be better about picking what actually matters, you know?
- 23:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, you gotta be very mindful of that.
- 23:48SPEAKER_01: Um, I have another one.
- 23:50SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 23:50SPEAKER_01: Um, take care of yourself because no one else will.
- 23:54SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah.
- 23:54SPEAKER_01: Sometimes you have to put yourself and your mental well-being first.
- 23:58SPEAKER_01: Um, sometimes we do get caught up in taking care of everybody except us.
- 24:03SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 24:03SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 24:04SPEAKER_01: And you and I are both guilty of that.
- 24:06unknown: Okay.
- 24:06SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
- 24:06SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah.
- 24:07SPEAKER_01: So I I that's one thing I would tell my younger self.
- 24:10SPEAKER_01: Take care of yourself.
- 24:11SPEAKER_02: Like take care of yourself, yeah.
- 24:13SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 24:13SPEAKER_01: Okay, because sometimes we're giving our all to everyone and not to us.
- 24:17SPEAKER_01: To everyone.
- 24:18SPEAKER_01: And at the end of the day, if you're not taking care of yourself, it's like it's kind of like when you're on an airplane and they they go through the whole like a safety procedure stuff.
- 24:26SPEAKER_01: Like wear your wear the mask first and then because I really feel like you need to take care of yourself.
- 24:31SPEAKER_02: Yeah, my sister always says that.
- 24:32SPEAKER_02: She's like, you need to put your oxygen mask on first before you can save somebody else.
- 24:36SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 24:37SPEAKER_01: 100%.
- 24:38SPEAKER_01: Any do you have anything else?
- 24:39SPEAKER_01: Because I have two more.
- 24:40SPEAKER_02: I do have one more.
- 24:41SPEAKER_02: And I think it's um one that I've like, if I could go back and tell myself something, or even people like might, you know, that it's okay if you have people in your life that you love very much and things are not working out the same way that they always have been, it's okay because some people are only here for a specific version of you.
- 25:02SPEAKER_02: Like, not everybody, very few people in your life are gonna be with you throughout your whole life, right?
- 25:07SPEAKER_02: Especially friends, right?
- 25:09SPEAKER_02: Your family's a little bit different because like we're brown people, we're kind of stuck with each other forever.
- 25:13SPEAKER_02: Yeah, exactly.
- 25:14SPEAKER_02: I'm like, we're brown people, we're stuck with each other forever.
- 25:17SPEAKER_02: Not really, but like it's okay for some people to only be here for like one version of you.
- 25:23SPEAKER_02: And it doesn't mean that there's anything wrong with either of you guys.
- 25:26SPEAKER_02: It just means that like it's okay.
- 25:29SPEAKER_01: Sometimes So you're saying, so you're saying just to just to be clear, you're saying that if you kind of like lose uh touch with a friend no longer, like okay, like the friendship isn't as deep as it used to be.
- 25:40SPEAKER_02: As it used to be, it's okay.
- 25:41SPEAKER_02: There's nothing wrong with either of you guys.
- 25:42SPEAKER_02: It's just you guys were meant to be with each other while these two versions of yourself existed that way.
- 25:48SPEAKER_02: But then as you both grew or have you both changed, that wasn't there anymore.
- 25:52SPEAKER_02: And it's okay because we're not all the same, we're not who we were 10 years ago, right?
- 25:57SPEAKER_02: And so I think that that's like, and that leads me to the next thing.
- 25:59SPEAKER_02: It's like some relationships are all about like um consistency instead of like intensity, right?
- 26:07SPEAKER_02: And I I mean when I say that, like there are friends that you have in your life that are here for all the versions of you.
- 26:13SPEAKER_02: Like I've had like I've had three friends and we've been friends since we were 13, right?
- 26:19SPEAKER_02: And we don't talk to each other every day, we don't talk to each other every month, um, but consistency, like we're all here for each other throughout like very important periods in our lives, um, like ups, downs, whatever, the good, the bad, and the ugly, right?
- 26:36SPEAKER_02: And um it's funny because I I was just talking to one of my one of my friends, my friend Chara Dina.
- 26:42SPEAKER_02: Dina and I have been friends since we were in seventh grade, um, since middle school.
- 26:47SPEAKER_02: And uh sadly, she she had lost her, she lost her dog uh just last week.
- 26:54SPEAKER_02: And you know, on the outside, it seems like like it's just it's her pet, and she said about her pet.
- 27:02SPEAKER_02: But it's for Dina, it's a lot deeper than that.
- 27:04SPEAKER_02: I'm not gonna tell, you know, but it's this this dog wasn't just her pet.
- 27:08SPEAKER_02: It had it was tied emotionally to a lot of other things.
- 27:11SPEAKER_02: So, and it's funny because when her and I talked, she had put this thing in our in our group chat, a tech, a message and said, I'm not okay, and then she immediately deleted it.
- 27:20SPEAKER_02: And I saw it before she deleted it in our little like friends group chat.
- 27:23SPEAKER_02: So I called her right away.
- 27:24SPEAKER_02: She didn't pick up, but I was like, Why aren't you feeling good?
- 27:27SPEAKER_02: What's the matter?
- 27:28SPEAKER_02: She goes, I knew you were gonna call.
- 27:29SPEAKER_02: So her and I talked for a while, and then she texted me that night and she's like, you know what?
- 27:33SPEAKER_02: I knew that talking to you would make me feel better.
- 27:36SPEAKER_02: And can't tell you the last time I talked to Dina on the phone, but like she knows that I'd be there for her if she needed anything, and I know that she'd be there for me.
- 27:45SPEAKER_02: Like, perfect example when my dad passed away.
- 27:48SPEAKER_02: I just was like, there was so much happening, and when we went to the burial, I just I just saw Dina.
- 27:53SPEAKER_02: Dina was just standing on the side, yeah.
- 27:55SPEAKER_02: And Dina lives like two hours away.
- 27:58SPEAKER_01: Oh, wow.
- 27:59SPEAKER_02: And so she and you're just like, my gosh, how how amazing.
- 28:01SPEAKER_01: But that's what I mean about someone you speak to all the time or every day.
- 28:05SPEAKER_02: But that's what I mean about consistency over intensity, like it's just and it's just because you're saying it's okay, yeah.
- 28:12SPEAKER_02: Just because you speak to somebody every day, they may not have that same place in your life as somebody that you don't speak to every day.
- 28:19SPEAKER_02: But yeah, I like that's something I wish I I wish everybody would learn at an earlier age.
- 28:24SPEAKER_02: Consistency over intensity any day.
- 28:27SPEAKER_02: Intensity is not bad either.
- 28:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and and sometimes we're not at the same place in our life, even though we're the same age, it doesn't necessarily mean we're in the same place.
- 28:35SPEAKER_02: Absolutely, yeah.
- 28:36SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 28:36SPEAKER_02: Like I have friends who are my age who are raising toddlers, and then I have friends who have my are my I have friends who are my yeah, no, seriously, it's true.
- 28:43SPEAKER_02: Like I have friends who are my age who are raising toddlers.
- 28:46SPEAKER_02: I have friends who are my age who are kids are graduating college, and then I have friends my age whose kids are graduating high school, then I have friends my my age who've don't have children at all, right?
- 28:55SPEAKER_02: Not married, right?
- 28:56SPEAKER_02: Yeah, or are together and don't have children, some by choice, some not by choice, right?
- 29:02SPEAKER_02: So you have all these, it's amazing and it's funny because um Lauren, my hairdresser, had just posted something about this on Instagram because she's she's 40 something herself.
- 29:12SPEAKER_02: Um, and it's true, it's like at this age, it's wild.
- 29:15SPEAKER_02: Some of your friends are parents to toddlers, some of them have kids graduating college, some of your friends are grandparents, right?
- 29:22SPEAKER_02: Um I have some of them, some of them are not married at all.
- 29:25SPEAKER_02: Some of them don't have any children, some of them are living their best life, some of them are in their second, third marriage.
- 29:30SPEAKER_02: Like it's just when you get to this age, I know you have so many, it's such a broad spectrum of where people are.
- 29:37SPEAKER_01: But, anyways, what's your last piece of advice?
- 29:39SPEAKER_01: Um, make time for yourself and your passions and interests.
- 29:42SPEAKER_01: Doing something that doesn't involve anybody else.
- 29:46SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 29:46SPEAKER_01: Something that it's kind of like me and you when we did this podcast, it's just to hang out, it was yeah, it's to hang a good time.
- 29:53SPEAKER_01: Yeah, for me and you to do that doesn't involve our partners or our kids or anything else, right?
- 29:59SPEAKER_01: Or anybody or anyone else, or anyone else, and then also I think um another this kind of goes hand in hand with this, it's never too late.
- 30:07SPEAKER_01: Like, don't ever say, Oh, I'm too old or oh, I'm too young.
- 30:11SPEAKER_01: Like, it doesn't matter, you know, age really, really doesn't matter if you're if you feel strongly about something and you're kind of on the fence about doing it, dude.
- 30:20SPEAKER_01: Do it as long as you're not harming anybody, do it.
- 30:24SPEAKER_01: I totally agree.
- 30:25SPEAKER_02: I think it's like, no, I agree with you.
- 30:26SPEAKER_02: It's never too late.
- 30:27SPEAKER_02: And I think it's amazing when I I don't know, I think it's awesome.
- 30:32SPEAKER_02: I like when I find like friends or people in my circle who, you know, are maybe changing careers completely, right?
- 30:39SPEAKER_02: Or I don't know, just doing something awesome.
- 30:41SPEAKER_02: Like you're like, okay, this is great.
- 30:43SPEAKER_02: I'm so glad that you're not letting, you know, the fact that we're all 40 something stop you.
- 30:48SPEAKER_01: No, that shouldn't stop you.
- 30:49SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 30:50SPEAKER_01: And it's you don't even have to be in your 40s.
- 30:51SPEAKER_01: You can be sometimes when we're in our 20s and 30s, we were kind of you know scared.
- 30:55SPEAKER_02: You're like, I'm too deep in.
- 30:56SPEAKER_02: I'm too or I'm into no why can I speak to that?
- 30:59SPEAKER_02: I'm in too deep.
- 31:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it just but the most important thing is do something for yourself.
- 31:05SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 31:05SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 31:06SPEAKER_01: And that doesn't involve anybody else.
- 31:08SPEAKER_02: It's so funny that you said that.
- 31:09SPEAKER_02: Like when you said do something else that doesn't uh involve anybody else.
- 31:12SPEAKER_02: I had something on my list on my um on my list, which is like the quality of your daily routines, um like kind of sort of become the quality of your life overall.
- 31:26SPEAKER_02: So like just practice making sure like your daily routines are good.
- 31:30SPEAKER_02: I mean, I try to at least incorporate one thing that's good for me every day because I feel like that improves my give me an example.
- 31:36SPEAKER_02: I don't know, like like, you know, uh I just decided very recently, guys.
- 31:40SPEAKER_02: This is like not something I've been doing for years or anything that I'm like, I have to have breakfast every day.
- 31:44SPEAKER_02: I have to have a good breakfast.
- 31:45SPEAKER_02: And if I make myself a good breakfast, it sets the tone that I'm not living out on coffee until 2 p.m.
- 31:50SPEAKER_02: and then I'm hangry, you know, for the rest of the day or I'm in a bad mood.
- 31:53SPEAKER_02: But I've discovered that it really does make a difference.
- 31:56SPEAKER_02: Like I have more energy, I'm happier, I am you just and it's something so simple.
- 32:02SPEAKER_02: And before it was just like it could be something as simple as like having a banana.
- 32:06SPEAKER_02: But I have decided to like that, you know, just I'm gonna put more effort into making sure that I have a really good breakfast.
- 32:13SPEAKER_02: Because I feel like it really sets the tone for me for the day.
- 32:16SPEAKER_02: I'm I just have like a good day when I'm full and happy.
- 32:18SPEAKER_01: So something you you're not very nice when you're hangry.
- 32:22SPEAKER_02: No, no, but you know, there is before we close, there is one thing, and this is more like um like across the board, but I think like culturally for us, and if I could, if this is something I everybody, everybody, you know, like I could tell everybody life advice, um, apologize faster.
- 32:41SPEAKER_02: Apologize, apologize, apologize and then forgive.
- 32:44SPEAKER_02: Apologize and forgive faster.
- 32:46SPEAKER_02: I feel like in our culture, especially, those are two things that ruin relationships deeply for years and years and years.
- 32:55SPEAKER_01: And then like it's just not just like entire family family.
- 32:58SPEAKER_01: Family things get ruined.
- 33:00SPEAKER_02: Apologize faster and forgive faster.
- 33:02SPEAKER_02: Like I just wish people did that.
- 33:04SPEAKER_02: Like you just don't hold a grudge, right?
- 33:06SPEAKER_02: And it's okay.
- 33:07SPEAKER_02: And even if it's not 100% your fault, it's okay.
- 33:09SPEAKER_02: Like, just be like, it's cool, water under the bridge.
- 33:11SPEAKER_02: I'm sorry that you're upset.
- 33:13SPEAKER_02: I'm sorry that we're upset, and I don't want us to be upset anymore.
- 33:16SPEAKER_02: I just wish more people did that.
- 33:18SPEAKER_01: Totally agree, totally agree.
- 33:20SPEAKER_01: Okay, this was good.
- 33:22SPEAKER_02: I agree.
- 33:22SPEAKER_02: This was nice.
- 33:23SPEAKER_01: Hopefully, this helps somebody.
- 33:25SPEAKER_02: I mean, it helped me because I'm somebody, right?
- 33:28SPEAKER_01: Okay, that's good.
- 33:29SPEAKER_01: Until next time, then.
- 33:30SPEAKER_01: Thanks, guys.
