- 0:11Hello friends, it's Sean here. It's Friday, it's the 4th of
- 0:16April and well done for reaching the end of the week.
- 0:19Done about your weekend, but oh mine is looking spectacular.
- 0:22I'm heading into the Wilds of Tasmania today, attempting to
- 0:26get to the top of Frenchman's cap.
- 0:29It is a glorious 4 day hike, two days there, two days back,
- 0:32surrounded by just breathtaking beauty.
- 0:36So that's what I'll be doing. I hope that your weekend is
- 0:39shaping up looking lovely as well.
- 0:42But right now we we get to dip our toes into the incredible
- 0:47wisdom of our God as shared in the Proverbs.
- 0:49And thanks for letting me know your thoughts.
- 0:52The consensus is that as we read the Proverbs, we're going to
- 0:55read each one twice and then move on to the next one, just to
- 0:58give our brains a bit of extra time to process these pithy
- 1:02statements that are over before they've started but contain so
- 1:05much goodness. So that is how we will do them
- 1:09as we go on. But friends, as always, if
- 1:11you've got any thoughts or anything you'd like to let me
- 1:13know or feedback or ideas, you know how to get me.
- 1:16Here's an email address and the show notes.
- 1:18Get in touch anytime. And thank you for those of you
- 1:20who have already done that. I love hearing from you.
- 1:25So all that aside, how about friends?
- 1:27Let's do it. Let us hear the wisdom of our
- 1:30God as written by the Teacher in Proverbs 11/19 to 24.
- 1:47Godly people find life. Evil people find death.
- 1:56Godly people find life, Evil people find death.
- 2:03The Lord detests people with crooked hearts, but he delights
- 2:07in those with integrity. The Lord detests people with
- 2:14crooked hearts, but He delights in those with integrity.
- 2:22Evil people will surely be punished, but the children of
- 2:26God will go free. Evil people will surely be
- 2:32punished, but the children of God will go free.
- 2:38A beautiful woman who lacks discretion is like a gold ring
- 2:42in a pig's snout. A beautiful woman who lacks
- 2:49discretion is like a gold ring in a pig's snout.
- 2:57The godly can look forward to a reward, while the wicked can
- 3:01expect only judgement. The godly can look forward to a
- 3:09reward, while the wicked can expect only judgement.
- 3:17Give freely and become more wealthy.
- 3:20Be stingy and lose everything. Give freely and become more
- 3:29wealthy. Be stingy and lose everything.
- 3:45Our Lord, as we read through these proverbs, we just see this
- 3:49theme emerging of all of our actions having consequences and
- 3:54that when we choose to follow You and live in the godly ways
- 3:58that You teach us, we don't need to fear judgement or punishment.
- 4:05Our Lord, continue your good work in us to overcome our
- 4:09broken human nature and always choose You and Your way and your
- 4:14generosity of spirits. The last proverb that you say
- 4:18when we give freely, we become wealthy.
- 4:23And Lord, wealth in your Kingdom is wealth of character, wealth
- 4:28of forgiveness, wealth of connection.
- 4:31Our Lord, help us broaden our concept of wealth from the the
- 4:35world's broken concept of what wealth looks like, so that we
- 4:39see wealth in our relationship with you and each other and all
- 4:46the wonderful things that flow from that, Yes, including the
- 4:51physical things that we need to survive each day and maybe even
- 4:54a little bit more. Thank you for blessing us, for
- 4:59loving us, for guiding us and shaping us.
- 5:03You are our wonderful, loving God, and we just worship you.
- 5:07And we pray all of this in that saving name of Jesus, Amen.
